2024.05.19 20:52 Comfortable-Bee2236 My issues with AFK Journey

So, I play AFK Journey since day 1, I had a blast at the start and still enjoy the game "somewhat" But here is a few issues that I just cant wrap my head around. I'll list the issues down below...>
  1. The main issue for me is that there's just not enough content to do. EVEN though its a AFK game. I feel like we need more content directed more towards the end-game players. The content we currently have is pretty fun, but all of it can be done within 15 minutes max if you're taking your time.
  2. Cosmetics, They are a nice addition to the game. They help everyone create their own unique character, But here is what I dont like, The game gives you plenty of cosmetics from just doing the campaign, But the majority of it is just a bunch of animalistic cosmetics or cosmetics that were made just for the sake of having more options thus half of them not being made with actual passion behind it. If you manage to reach the top-20 in Supreme Arena, Which is very difficult to get to, and not only that, You'd also have to manage to stay top-20 without people overthrowing you. But, the cosmetics you get are temporary, They are not only the best looking cosmetics by far currently in the game. But they are also temporary. So after tears and sweat getting there. You only get temporary cosmetic. Why cant it be permanent? We actually had to put effort into it (Wallet included) to get there, Unlike the majority of the cosmetics we get just by doing campaign which are permanent. I'd rather look like a fully plated amored knight (As edgy as it sounds) then be a "Furry" as people like to call. Or you know, simply add a more variety of cosmetics then a bunch of tails and sticks glued to our head.
  3. Essences, the bane of my existence. Getting essences is so ridiculously expensive, that you'd make a big mistake to spread it out on multiple characters instead of prioritizing just 1 core team. (This is not included for whales) Im a mid-spender, Not a whale by far, just buy packs that have high value. And I struggle to have 2 strongly independant teams because I lack the resources such as Essences. Can we just please have a specific game-mode or that we get MORE essences by game-modes that already drop essences.
  4. In this massive, open-world game. There are only 2 vendors currently, But 1 of the 2, Is pretty much a waste to even bother with. And im talking about Ironhoof Forge. Not only does it sell equipment that you will most likely replace within the same hour, or day maximum. It also sells the equipment for a ridiculous price. Almost everyone i've talked too. Nobody ever recommended even going there unless you really were desperate and had a very, very low equipment lvl, that needed a replacement. But not only that, I just feel like in general, For such a massive open-world game. I feel like there is a lack of vendors or open-world activities such as crafting stations, or cooking stations, you name it. It needs more NPC driven activities imo.
  5. Chest equipments, The chests that we open up for the equipment, just so we can recycle it, Its mind-baffling how the chest require a specific resonance level, Yet it gives equipment far below from what you currently have. Its stupid.
  6. Reset all the levels of Arcane Labyrinth once a week, or increase the levels, Its honestly suprising they haven't even touched that yet. There's no use for it once you've cleared all 15 levels. And that was 3 weeks ago.
  7. They should really add more guild-related activities/events. We get to have a nice guild-hall, but the only purpose of it is to do your daily battle-drills, claim rewards, and get out of it. Its such a waste honestly.
  8. The Abyss, which I cleared 1 week ago, Has dull and underwhelming rewards once you reach a certain stage, Why is it with every game-mode, The higher we go, The more underwhelming the rewards become? Would it hurt to keep the reward the same?
  9. We need more Co-op events/activities, If there is 1 thing I enjoy doing, its doing Corrupted-Creature with my guild-mates or my friends. Its very engaging having to set up a team with other players.
  10. This is not so much of a issue, but more towards what I'd like to see in the future. A housing-system. We got the world for it, And i'd be a pretty fun activity to do, If you just want to sit back and do something that doesn't involve killing, running, and pushing stages.

2024.05.19 20:51 Training-Ad-603 Advice Required: An entrepreneur & EMBA

Hi Everyone,
Background of Profile
I am 36 years old and here is a brief history. Almost a rags to riches type of profile.
Topper at School and excelled in science while at School.
18 years of age joined Dell at India and got promoted twice and won awards. Couldn’t fund my college education due to a poor family situation.
21 years joined a cloud services firm and got promoted twice
25 years became a team manager managing 8 direct reports and client base in about 4 countries.
26 years Got a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science, History & Economics with average grades since I was more inclined just to finish it rather than compete for grades. It gave me exposure to Economics and even got featured in a Top podcast. I did find interest in Austrian school of economics. The degree acquired through distance/online from an accredited university in India.
27 years became an entrepreneur & CEO at a blockchain startup established in US. Build the company from scratch with zero capital and got investors from US and others. Saved from almost 4 bankruptcy situations to an M&A.
Also have a 1 year consulting experience with an analytics firm, mainly had to make money while creating a startup.
Got a patent in my name in post quantum encryption in blockchain in US.
Currently in an M&A process and heading the acquiring firm as SVP product and Managing Director of couple of country operations.
Currently based in Middle East. I can always go to US with an O1 visa option, that's what my attorney suggested.
I felt I almost reached the maximum without a formal college degree and wanted to think if an EMBA would help build further.
My requirements are below.
I would like to join an institution which probably inspires/helps me to create probably another startup.
A strong alumni network.
Top 10 school in US.
Advice Required
Can I pass some of the admission requirements especially for a top institute like Kellogg based on my unusual profile.
Should I take a GMAT or another test to offset a lack of strong academic background or something like a patent would offset that.
I understand schools like Kellogg I might be able to crack, I was thinking of MIT Sloan school as well.
Happy to answer any further questions to make an informed decision.

2024.05.19 20:51 silly_-littlesucker OPINIONS PLEASSEEE

ok so by my grandmas there is a pet store and its really abusive to the live animals, cages and enclosures too small and dry, ive seen like 10+ mice in one enclosure and they werent even feeders. they have no bedding and are crawling on the top of their cage BUT i dont believe there is any cameras in that room, and no one is ever in that room SO!! what if i steal a mouse.. i have done my reasearch and i have a perfect little enclosure!! i would have to be safe tho because they could be very aggresive (i dont blame them with the circumstances they are in :/ ) but anywho my mom said no but my grandma says i should. what should i do??

2024.05.19 20:47 supercheems64 CAMPASAK CENTRAL-SOUTH: rules to survive the forest

So, if you survived the southern campasak, for So, if you survived the southern campasak, for a moment I didn't think you would, I mean, no one will judge you for eating that berry, there isn't much food but luckily no kogen noticed you (those birds are very annoying and we don't have rules for avoid them) but fortunately you managed to cross the river and now you find yourself in this dense forest And we have rules
South-central Campasak, this is the smallest region of Campasak so it shouldn't take you more than a couple of days to get out of here, South-central Campasak is a very dense and dark forest so it is home to many creatures and we will have to give each one their own rules
Rules for south-central campasak
Rule 1: When you reach the shore, push the boat back to the other shore, it will be the fault of other travelers (the villagers have great power over this area and will be very angry if their canoe does not appear)
Rule 2: when you enter the forest you will see that it is very dark but NOTHING IN THE WORLD should you use a light source, this forest is FULL of entities and the only thing that prevents them from attacking you is that they do not see you
Rule 3: Stay silent, just like bats, the entities in this forest have almost perfect hearing so any sound louder than a breath will be heard, this includes sighs.
Rule 4: to minimize noise I recommend that almost your entire journey be crawling on the floor, this way you minimize the noise
Rule 4a: if when you crawl you feel a very slippery "slime" on the floor, you are VERY LUCKY, it means that the rule 10 tree of Campasak Sur liked you too much and decided to help you by spreading its roots and making a path with its sap, If this happens to you, simply jump on the sap as if it were a slide and move forward, you will leave here and reach Campasak center (if this happens, ignore the rest of the rules).
Rule 5: If at any time you hear the tick-tack sound similar to that of a bomb, get up from the ground and run, it doesn't matter if you make noise, the rest of the creatures have too much time for it and will forget about you for a while.
Rule 5a: the creature that generates this sound is known as "the tick" and is the most dangerous entity in this area, it is a kind of "robot", a mountain experiment that went very wrong and escaped to Campasak, if you want know its appearance is similar to a cannon with a large round head on top with eyes that reflect pure hatred, to attack its head detaches itself from its body in a disturbing movement and destroys everything in its path
Rule 6: if tick catches you (with his detached head he bites you and grabs your arm) quickly tell him that you destroyed the village on the bank of the river in Campasak Sur, he hates its inhabitants and will go to check if you really destroyed it, After this you have about 4 days to leave Campasak Sur, (tick is quite slow) before he reaches the village and realizes that it is a lie, when he realizes that you lied to him he will get very angry and ask the trees about your location (trees are also an entity) and will come towards you, if it finds you it will bite your head off.
Rule 7: If the tick catches you after you lied to it if you followed rule 6a, and you manage to free yourself (no one knows how the hell this is achieved) there is a greater than 0 chance that you will hear crows singing, if this happens do the Whatever happens to yourself and whatever god you worship, the trees have become angry with you and in a few minutes they will stick their sharp roots into you and you will die. The only way to save yourself from this is for the scenario in 4a to happen to you.
Rule 7a: in fact "the explorer" left central-south Campasak thanks to rule 7 and just suffered rule 4a moment I didn't think you would, I mean, no one will judge you for eating that berry, there isn't much food but luckily no kogen noticed you (those birds are very annoying and we don't have rules for avoid them) but fortunately you managed to cross the river and now you find yourself in this dense forest And we have rules

Rule 9: if you see a person in the distance with a top hat, come closer, he is Joaquin, he is an ancient aristocrat who owned these lands before the "incident" that gave rise to all the barbarism that inhabits these lands
Rule 9a: when you arrive with Joaquin he will start a conversation with you (talk to him, he will help you regain your sanity) if he likes you he will invite you to his house, if not just continue on your way
Rule 9b: if he invites you to he's house, get up and follow him, his house is a very large old mansion from the 1700s, the servants of the house are trees that are at Joaquin's service and do the tasks through their roots ( For some reason the mansion is full of them) Joaquin will invite you to eat (eat everything you want, his food is delicious) then say goodbye and leave
Rule 10: no matter which path you follow, due to the geography of the place, for some reason you will always arrive at the same place when leaving Campasak central-south.
Rule 11: after about 6 days of crawling you will reach a large desert full of strange palm trees, this is Campasak center and you will be able to get up and continue your journey
Rule 11a: if you arrive at the desert but find that it has no palm trees and has a blood red sky, hide at the bottom of the small stream that will appear (also drink a lot of water, you will need it) and close your eyes, the abominations of the forest are doing a last attempt to catch you (probably being warned by the trees)
Rule 11b: after a while you will feel that the stream dries up and when it is completely dry open your eyes and everything will be normal and you can continue your trip
This area is FULL OF ENTITIES but thanks to the darkness and crawling on the ground you will get rid of a large part
After this you will reach Campasak Centro and it has its own set of rules, although it is safer than Campasak Centro Sur
RULES FOR CAMPASAK CENTER UNDER CONSTRUCTION🏗
PS, this is my second story here and I think it's a big improvement.

I know it's tough not being in the top 2. But sh*t happens we gotta move on. We have a more important match on 22nd and if you guys wanna hate the team Or criticise the players or management wait till 22nd atleast please man
It's already tough for the players, they are trying their best and spreading negativity won't do any good, the only thing we can do is support and hope for the best Look I am supporting the team since 10/12 years and it's a good thing we qualified after the nightmare(2019-2021) even I am mad at the management for this but let's first support the team for the eliminator now. And whatever happens I will always support the royals through all the ups and downs.. Halla Bol

2024.05.19 20:42 Sonicboomer1 Every “defining performance” for every Doctor ON SCREEN so far. (In my opinion.)

Every “defining performance” for every Doctor ON SCREEN so far. (In my opinion.)
(This ranges from one scene to entire episodes.)
After seeing negativity aplenty recently I wanted to take a moment to celebrate my love for Doctor Who and each of the main character’s wonderful performers.
1: A moment that truly shows William Hartnell’s chops as more than the miserly old man he portrayed, a speech of warmth and bittersweetness in a lovely point of believability amongst an era of cardboard backgrounds and the Zarbi. William Hartnell truly was the Doctor, he absolutely loved the role, he loved the fans, he loved that moment in his life and you can see it in his performances even as he flubs his lines and tried to keep going instead of slowing down. Here though, you see his absolute best, which is iconic for a reason.
2: One of the most impressive performances of the entire sixty years, where Patrick Thoughton masterfully conveys both the Doctor and a complete opposite sort of character in Salamander in a creative and unique story.
3: Pertwee’s best story in my opinion and he carries it through expertly from start to finish, absolutely selling the tremendously dramatic stakes, with some of the best cliffhangers ever, one of which pictured where you can see his top notch acting as he faces the terror of being surrounded by soldiers and idiot scientists that won’t listen to his warnings of imminent destruction.
4: You might find more expert comedic performances from Tom Baker, like City of Death, than any moving sorrow, powerful anger or abject terror, however Genesis of the Daleks showed he’s more than the witticisms and quirk that make his Doctor so beloved and he delivers the moment in a grounded and understated way that works.
5: Possibly the greatest Doctor Who story, certainly voted as such multiple times and a surprisingly captivating and devastating performance from Davidson from start to finish in an otherwise less-dramatic early 80s, coming to a crescendo with one of the better regenerations.
6: A showcase of how Colin Baker was absolutely right for the Doctor, even as the programme began the process of collapsing around him, denouncing his own people in a farcical trial against himself. Despite the turbulence, Colin only ever got better and deserved so much more than the doomed destiny he found himself stuck in.
7: The perfect capture of 7’s character, cunning and manipulative with defined layers to Sylvester McCoy’s performance as he sells a facade of betrayal to his loyal companion, far departed from the clown-like early writing of the character, in a good story with many cogs turning. An actor acting acting. And good acting. A hard task that Sylvester does effortlessly.
8: A showcase of tragedy as we see how amazing Paul McGann’s Doctor is on screen, only for a brief moment, as he delivers a minisode so brilliantly people are still saying he deserves his own series 11 years later. Having played the Doctor for a very long time on audio, you can see how much he has become the character and he certainly deserves more opportunities to show it visually.
9: One of Nine’s (many) best episodes, where he delivers every emotion, absolute fear, to mocking laughter, to terrifying fury, to bitter melancholy, to honest repentance at the end, all conveyed in what might be my favourite performance of any Doctor to date, from my favourite Doctor of them all.
10: Everything from “get out of the way” from the Master to “I don’t want to go” from the Doctor may just be the best television I’ve ever watched and ever will. I’ve watched objectively some of the highest-rated series there is, so I know what objective quality is. However, nothing has ever made me feel more than the ending of the End of Time. And feeling is what creative art is all about, truly. David Tennant is voted for in polls for a reason and this performance is a massive part in it. He and Bernard Cribbins performed the finest scene in the history of Doctor Who for me.
11: Not one of my favourite incarnations but despite that I respect Matt Smith’s excellent ability and when he got to show it, he shows he’s absolutely the Doctor, the best example of this in my opinion is convincingly conveying the burning emotion of 1000 years of every type of memory of the character being wilfully offered to a greedy deity. It would go to The Angels Take Manhattan, however I have a lot of problems with that story so the emotional performance isn’t as impactful as it should be.
12: I’m not on the hype train many are with the Capaldi era (sorry) but that’s due to Moffat’s show-running than Capaldi’s performances, which are obviously among the best in the series and he has many to choose from, perhaps more than any other Doctor, however I believe The Doctor Falls is his most mesmerising. (And should’ve been the Twelfth Doctor’s last story.)
13: A vastly unpopular era, with perhaps not a lot of moments to work with due to Chris Chibnall’s confusing characterisation and writing, however the Thirteenth Doctor’s final moments were beautiful, from sitting on the Tardis watching the Earth turn, to regenerating at Durdle Door, and Jodie Whittaker defined her Doctor well with “blossomiest blossom” and “tag you’re it”, a lovely end to what most consider a dark time.
14: David Tennant had three episodes to not only sell that he’s not just doing the same thing again, but also to match the absurd levels he reached previously and he did, in Wild Blue Yonder when his face uncharacteristically shows it is not 10 again, as he outpours honest emotions that retroactively improve the previous era’s controversial decisions and series arc. On top of that, also playing a villain like Troughton where you can see the venom, the emptiness and evil in his eyes in the same episode. Seriously, seriously marvellous.
15: THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE (And very, very likely will.) However, the entire episode of Boom is one of the most challenging acting scenarios any Doctor actor has ever had to face and Ncuti Gatwa has proven doubters wrong early doors by playing it to such a standard that you truly believe every second of the terribly razor-thin margin for error, how much of a tragedy it would be if that face died already, how much agony and guilt he selflessly feels for Ruby and the rest of the soldiers he doesn’t even respect for dooming them carelessly and the pure control and intelligence he displays despite being restricted from action altogether. An all-timer performance and a great episode.

2024.05.19 20:40 InterJabroni Has anyone employed a "shadow" defensive tactic to mark a star player out of the game? Questions within if so.

Hi, later today I have my team's championship final match and there is a big concern about one player (let's call him Hazard), who primarily operates as an attacking mid, being the main outlet for their attack. He is the kind of game-breaking player that takes this team (who we beat in the regular season 4-2 without the star player present) to the next level, hence their run to the championship.
So three things I know:
1) He can shoot from anywhere. 2) He drops in between the lines to receive the ball and plays perfect balls over the top to his forwards, and that's how they score all their playoff goals. 3) Every kickoff aims straight for him (he's not a big player, but just has immaculate control).
So, I feel strongly that I should play in a 4-3-3 with the 6 sweeping in front of the back line and rarely moving upfield, the 8 playing as a "shadow" on Hazard everywhere he goes for 90 minutes, and the 10 assisting in a B2B role.
I would also have a lower defensive line to prevent the balls over the top.
My team's strengths are in its CBs and CMs primarily.
Some of my questions:
1) I guess, is this a good idea? The teams they beat in the playoffs told me they wish they had man marked him. 2) How far does a shadow follow the player? I know if he catches on he may try and bring the shadow out wide to open space for other players, or sit offsides or something. But does it matter, should I instruct the 8 to stick with him no matter what? 3) What does the shadow do on offense? just leave his mark to get involved and allow people to cover down on him?
Thanks.

2024.05.19 20:40 goh00sgo Hair Cut & Treatment Experience in Seoul

Hi! Here is my experience getting an hair cut in Seoul:
Price: I did a lot of research on hair salons in Seoul and decided on The Day's Hair in Hongdae after finding it on Creatrip. I booked a hair cut package(Cut+Wash+Styling) a month before arriving in Seoul. They had a special on Creatrip for this salon where you get a free hair treatment if you write a review after the cut. The hair treatment is generally prices at $30 so I thought it was a great deal. I paid a deposit of $3.76 through Creatrip and paid the rest, $20.89 at the salon.
Experience: I scheduled the cut the first day of my trip so booked the first appointment. They did a quick consultation with me to understand what kind of cut I wanted. The person was very communicative and suggested styles that would suit my face but was not too pushy with her recommendations. I decided on face framing bangs with long layers. However, I did kinda left it to her on how she wants to do it cause she seemed to have a great vision on what would suit my face the best.
She first washed my hair, did the free hair treatment(put on the treatment and then put a steaming machine on top) and then got to cutting my hair. The ease and clarity she cut my hair with was super cool to watch. Then she asked how i wanted my hair styled and I really wanted the effortless waves like kpop idols so she started styling my hair after drying it with a curling iron. I curl my hair often but i've never been able to curl it like she did. It looked exactly like a kpop idol's hair.
She also did offer my iced tea/coffee while styling my hair which is very common in salons in korea.
After styling, I paid the rest of amount. I didn't get to write a review for them for the free hair treatment until weeks later but they didn't ask me while paying and were pretty chill about it.
Conclusion: This salon was pretty budget friendly but I think they did a really good job. Hair stylists in Korea no matter where you go are extremely skilled and my results were amazing and the service was great so would 100 percent recommend!
Side Note: Foreign friendly salons tend to be a bit overpriced, if you can speak a bit of korean or are ok with using papago I would recommend local salons. I messaged a few local korean salons through kakao talk for hair wash and styling for later in my trip and let them know I'm a foreigner and they were all okay with it. However, wash and styling is usually on a walk-in basis and when I visited a clinic they were too busy so wasn't able to get my hair styled but the price was under $10 in local salons.

A Stochastic Populated Argentina was the first country map I made. The current 'equitable' balance does reduce the advantage of the most dense areas, but I think this seed shows that I need to work out some way to more equitably distribute the locations within countries that have a single lopsided population center.
I considered regenerating the seed for A Stochastic Populated World, after it generated two locations in the same city, but, well random is as random does.
I also considered re-doing A Stochastic Rejected Panorama, when I saw a shitty location - but there are clues!

Introduction

The Stochastic maps are large randomly-generated maps that use population data to place locations where people live. Generally, locations will be in populated areas, though rural areas with even a few structures nearby appear as well. I made these maps because most maps tend to focus on rural locations and meta-learnable locations, but I generally find urban areas more interesting to roam around. And while World is much more urban than it used to be, its distribution is perplexingly strange. I hope other people find them interesting as well.
I welcome any feedback about maps to include, mode + time settings, standings, summary statistics of interest and how they're displayed - whatever. Particularly, with the rotating country maps, please feel welcome to suggest any country you would like to see added to the list.

Map descriptions

A Stochastic Populated World: This map uses unadjusted population data, to give every person on earth an equal chance of appearing in the game, if there is Streetview coverage where they live.
An Equitable Stochastic Populated World: This map uses an adjusted population designed to increase the variety of locations that appear, while still favoring more populous countries and more populated areas.
A Skewed Stochastic Populated World: A stochastic homage to the famous A Skewed World, this map turns the camera to the side of the road, hiding the more widely known street-based clues.
A Stochastic Populated Argentina: A single-country map of Argentina
A Stochastic Rejected Panorama: User-generated locations give a different perspective on the world than standard coverage: New angles, outdoor adventures, and nooks and crannies that Google cars will never reach. But you take the good with the bad: They often feature bad stitching. This map features the highest-resolution (50+ megapixels) user-generated photospheres - including points of interest, indoor locations, and ARI coverage. You will never see these locations on the World Cup!

2024.05.19 20:38 petyusa Host multiple small apps/apis

Hi,
Currently I have one small app (angular FE + dotnet web api). It's hosted in Azure, the FE is on a Storage Account, the app is a linux App Service, the db is an SQL database.
I'm currently rewriting the API (there will be new features, some changes, improvements) and thinking of changing the hosting solution as well. It would be complicated than it needs to be, but I would also use it to learn new things. There would be 4 microservices for the app, communicating through a message queue, there will also be some service for recurring jobs.
But as I have future plans for other apps, I would like to have a standalone identity server (I've not decided what to use for that, maybe duende's free license, or building something on top of OpenIddict), and want to have SSO for all apps I create.
I created a sketch of what I'm thinking of:
https://preview.redd.it/kznt2jn04f1d1.png?width=1532&format=png&auto=webp&s=ebd39f5ea6d7cb0704b09961cf942371574ed5aa
For database I would use sqlite, so no need for an SQL server, no constraints on message queue (could use Azure Service Bus, AWS SQS/SNS, self hosted RabbitMQ). I would like to have a custom domain.
I'm a developer working with Azure/AWS at my company, but I'm not an expert with cloud. My question would be, is there a cheap way to host the above system (I mean about $5-$10/month)? There's no requirement to scale, it will be used just by my family (it would be nice to have it always on, so the first request wouldn't take seconds to complete). I'm not aware of the different pricing tiers in Azure/AWS, and have no clue about hosting it on a VPS.
