Staying in LA or...not?

2024.05.19 18:58 EnTaroBurritos Staying in LA or...not?

Hey folks! Unfortunately, my ex and I are going our separate ways due to life taking us in other directions. I'm 42 with a good job that will allow me to work remotely, so I have been wondering if it is going to be better for me to stay in Los Angeles, or to consider other cities around the country. I have been in LA all my life and I have family and friends here, but the COL is absolutely insane for someone who is single, and I don't relish the thought of paying a premium to live in a box with my cat.
I'm hoping to get some feedback on other cities that I should be considering. I'd love to live in a city with liberal values, a thriving music and arts scene, and with affordable housing options under $2k/month. I enjoy walking around and having access to good running trails (inside the city or outside of it), and I would love to also be able to socialize with folks with diverse backgrounds. Access to snowboarding would be a plus, and a major airport that would allow me to travel inside the US and internationally would be great too.
I know that moving out of LA would be a huge change, especially weather-wise, but I don't want that to stop me from having the opportunity to explore a new way of living. I'm not in a hurry to make any changes right now, but I do want to start looking into my options sooner rather than later.

2024.05.19 18:51 BeastOfRetribution A thought on Hades 2 story and certain figures

Hey everyone, longtime fan of Hades and absolutely loving devouring the content I see here. In particular, I'm loving loads of how the story seems to be going with Melinoe, Chronos and even the Fates, but I can't help but wonder about something in particular.
Namely, the role of the Fates in all of this. As I understand it, they basically get the final say in how everything goes. From how you live, to how you die, up to even where you end up in the afterlife. They're basically storytellers that can decide where all the "characters" will end up and almost nobody can do anything about it, Chaos words on the matter notwithstanding.
Which leads me to really think about something that's been said several times in story, by both Chronos and Zeus. In particular, if the Fates are no longer weaving and making things go as they wish, then anything can happen. Even right up to the point where Melinoe can leave the underworld and head for Olympus, despite the blood curse saying otherwise.
However, it really can't be denied that there's so many tragic stories that could all be rationalized back to their occurances being "because the Fates say so". In Hades itself, we have Zagreus's original stillbirth and Hades and those of his line unable to leave the Underworld whatsoever. In other greek myth, we have tragedies like Oedipus, Cassandra of Troy, Medusa, Hercules, etc. Many people who suffered through life and who didn't do anything wrong besides having prophecies tossed at them or the whim of the gods making them suffer with no retribution because the Gods are above all that.
This makes me wonder one simple thing: Why should the Fates even be saved or helped? Even if Chronos is stopped and the world goes back to how it was, Moros outright said that they'd likely be angry at Melinoe for going up to Olympus. They're also responsible for Hades and Zagreus's curse.
And furthermore, if they're cast aside, and truly anything can happen, does this not mean that mortals can now rise up and supplant and overthrow the gods? Again, I just think there's plenty of fun villain potential if one considers the abuses the Gods have foisted upon mortals. Cassandra would love revenge on Apollo, I imagine many of Zeus's targeted lovers want vengeance on Hera or him, and then there's even Arachne in story who more or less states her own hatred of the Gods and dislike of them. Should they not get payback?
I'm sorry, I'm genuinely not meaning to tell or guess how the story goes, but I can't help but think that the Fates do kind of deserve some level of fuckening happening to them given how much control they're said to have over all situations and the suffering as a result of their actions.

2024.05.19 18:50 mcm8279 [Discovery Trivia] Inside How ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Transformed A Toronto University Library Into The Eternal Archive (TrekMovie)

TREKMOVIE: "Last week’s episode of Star Trek: Discovery, “Labyrinths,” featured an unusual location: the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library at the University of Toronto. Star Trek fan Michael Cassabon, the Director of Advancement for the University of Toronto library system, assisted the production team on site and wrote about his experiences with the show and what makes the Fisher Library so unique."
Michael P. Cassabon:
"Melissa Warry-Smith, the location manager for Star Trek: Discovery (and most recently Section 31), and her team approached the University of Toronto in summer 2022 with a very big ask: to boldly film where no one has filmed before. As Canada’s largest keeper of ancient manuscripts and antiquarian books, the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library holds powerful knowledge within its high, thick walls. It is a globally renowned rare book library, a gorgeous monument to human knowledge, but it is not known for being a filming location. Like, never.
But Warry-Smith’s thoughtful approach to the Fisher as the location for the Eternal Archive made a lot of sense. It wasn’t just that the Fisher’s brutalist architecture and vast interior space looked very sci-fi, but it also made sense because “Labyrinths” underlines the work of librarians and archivists in the preservation and pursuit of knowledge, intrinsic to the core values of Star Trek.
[...]
The Fisher is at the heart of the university’s main campus, which lies at the heart of the city of Toronto, one of the most diverse cities on the planet.
Modern-day Toronto is part of Trek canon (SNW: “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow”); for those of you keeping track, the library complex is a few blocks away from where the child Khan Noonien-Singh — the notorious ancestor of La’an — lives, and where an alt-universe Captain Kirk was killed trying to restore the timeline.
It is almost unheard of for filming to take place at the Fisher Library, but a rare exception was made for Star Trek: Discovery. Our library’s leadership believed that this collaboration would be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the enduring relevance of libraries in the human quest for meaning. Libraries connect people to the information they seek in their quest for knowledge. The executive producers dedicated the episode with thanks “to librarians everywhere, dedicated to the preservation of artifacts, knowledge, and truth.”
It was also important that the library was not just a pretty face in the background but was playing the role of a key “character” essential to uncover “the greatest power in the known galaxy,” as Dr. Kovich tells Michael way back in the season’s first episode. Kovich, of course, is played by the legendary David Cronenberg, an alum of the University of Toronto—it makes one wonder if he knew where the final clue was all along!
Filming at the Fisher occurred over three nights to avoid disrupting students and researchers. The production crew was remarkably efficient and respectful, especially given the tight schedule due to the impending medieval manuscript exhibition—our first in-person event since COVID-19. Every precaution was made to avoid putting the real-life ancient manuscripts in danger. The production crew was quite impressive in their respect and care. They had experience filming in sensitive locations in Toronto in the past; for example, scenes of Vulcan earlier in the season are filmed at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto.
This isn’t the first time Star Trek has filmed at a library at the University of Toronto. U of T has a system of 40 libraries, and the Star Trek: Short Treks episode “Children of Mars”—the mini-prequel to Star Trek: Picard—was filmed at the library at U of T’s John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design. [...]
The absolute highlight for me was meeting Sonequa Martin-Green. She is as amazing and magnetic and gracious as everyone says. After watching her interact with the cast and crew, it was clear how they became a family, largely due to her leadership on and off the camera. David Ajala introduced me to Sonequa in the green room, which was our library admin conference room across from my office. The first thing she said to me was “Thank you for lending me your name [Michael].” [...]
This season of Discovery focuses on the quest for meaning, and filming at the Fisher felt serendipitous. The library’s dedication to preserving and exploring knowledge through the application of new technology mirrors Star Trek’s themes of discovery and understanding. Fittingly, the University of Toronto is situated at the heart of the city’s Discovery District, an area renowned for its concentration of research institutions, hospitals, and tech startups dedicated to innovation and advancement. It is also appropriate that the filming took place in a university library, considering how many researchers, scholars, and leaders have been inspired to pursue their careers in part because of Star Trek."
Michael P. Cassabon is the Director of Advancement for the University of Toronto library system and a lifelong fan of Star Trek.

2024.05.19 18:49 QueenofSmokeandBone [F4A] [Discord] The Chieftain's Bride

The moment Lliana turned towards the northern savages, she caught Chief's stare. His piercing eyes caused her breath to catch in her chest, but she didn’t allow her to falter as she sat up straight and stared back at him. While he was younger, the man wasn’t exactly young. There was an age about the Chief that told Lliana that he’d earned his place at the head of the table. An allure that caused her to keep staring at the man where he stood, holding his gaze as if she could not be intimidated into submission.
When he slammed his hands on the table and called out for someone, Lliana didn’t flinch. She’d spent the last few weeks around grimy loud men, who shouted and killed one another for the sake of their Gods. There wasn’t much that couldn’t scare Lliana anymore.
Not a moment later a woman walked through the door, one look at Lliana and the woman turned her nose up in the direction where she sat.. This made Lliana chuckle a bit, turning her gaze away from the Chief and his companions. She looked out for the gulls, but the sky was clear and they were no longer dove about to catch their dinner. For a moment Lliana wondered where they’d gone…. Why did they leave her in this desolate place?
“You there, girl.” The woman called down in old language to Lliana. “What is your name?”
Lliana whirled in surprise. Her blue eyes were bright and filled with a degree of excitement that she’d not felt in some time. Lliana had been surrounded the last week being savages who didn’t understand a word she spoke… but now, there was someone here… someone who could understand her. “You speak the old language?” Lliana asked hurriedly, just in case she’d heard her wrong.
“Your name, girl?” Ezza asked, her arms still folded… this time Ezza gently tapped her foot on the floor, obvious that she was already annoyed with the christian Irish savage. “The Chief is wanting to know and he is not a patient man.”
Lliana’s eyes slipped from the brunette back to where he stood at the head of the table. He stood tall, proud, and waiting… waiting for her name. “My name is Lliana,” She said proudly, her blue eyes never once leaving his.
The Chieftain's Bride
The idea of this story is to be a erotic roleplay that is based around an english woman that was brought back after savage raid and is forced to sit next to the Chieftain as his prize. She could be his slave, his prize after a raid, or simply just there for show. Their dynamic would be enemies to lovers, I would prefer this to be a long term roleplay over discord if possible. And I do want this roleplay to have a degree of romance to it if that is okay. Also if this does not catch your attention but you have an idea, shoot me a message and I'd love to talk!

2024.05.19 18:49 mysticaltater [IBO S2 SPOILERS] what would happen to mcgillis...

...if gaelio died early on (or even in ep 25) like he was supposed to initially?
who would oppose him? who would kill him? would he even have died?
i don't even know if there's an actual answer or if it's just conjecture. gaelio's return wasn't an ass-pull and it was planned, but i wonder if there even was an idea early on, back when gaelio was supposed to die early a la garma

2024.05.19 18:44 Material-Tension8380 Ubisoft its not the same people we knew before assassin creed origin.

Ever since origin the story to assassins creed has been ass in my opinion . I still like how our companions were figures of history from cleopatra, to rangars sons, to socrates. We were a unknown factor in a somewhat known history.
But we never played a character whos name was in history, even just briefly. There is no guy name ezio, altiar, desmond miles, cassandra.
But there is a yasuke. Ill come back to this guy
The other part i miss and not happy about is the detail to the world that kept us grounded. Remember when people can uses assassin creed to learn about historical places. They took their time to even make a tourist mode where you can tour ride egypt and to learn about the historical relevance of an architectural wonder. Now they cant tell Chinese architecture from Japanese architecture. Which makes me think that the cities are going to feel inorganic.
I dont mind they lean into fictional beast like the sphinx . The first game you get the eden of apple and make people kill them selves that pretty fantastical. Christian religion doesnt have alot of lore creatures like greek or egyptians or norse where you can fight god like creatures. So it was pretty fine to dip into that part of fantasy. While still keeping the story connected to some history.
But now they said to hell with some historical accuracy and our story we have been creating.
In come yasuke. Cassandra and eivor are reincarnation of the isu if i remember correctly. So their fantasy makes sense. But yasuke though not mired in literature but still known enough between anyone that has done any research on sengoku period(lets be honest most gamers either think about rome/greek or sengoku Japan more often than we like to admit.: no wonder we want a good samurai/viking/ninja/warrior like games: i know for honor…but they know they aint historically accurate and never aimed for that).
This means we are no longer playing with someone who is just following a story where their life mixes with our history to tell a fictional story.
Now we will be playing a person who will inevitably create their own history. Which means they will have to fuck up the historical accuracy of japans story. Up until now ubisoft had been good enough to give each culture a pretty fair historical fictional representation. The tv series shogun does a good job in this.
So yah ubisoft fucked up. Their city building is no longer on par with Rome, England, London, Istanbul, Egypt. So why do i want to play Chinese japan. Their character building is trash. I miss my boys ezio, connor, and kenway. Ezio got the most love since he did have the longest story. Their character designs are for checking boxes which means their story. Dont get me wrong their story was never grammy writing but they made sense to their time period, to their people, and to the history.
Yasuke is the opposite of all this. No respect. ✊
For one a vassal can be a concubine, consort, a parent,in law, a good friend, or even a court jester. So not all vassal were samurai or even had the same rank.
Thats what yasuke was to oda. But ubisoft cant say that because of race. He was an umbrella and sword carrier. So their story has to find away of making yasuke a samurai without disrespecting japanese culture but they cant. But they will also have to find away to explain why yasuke is there without calling him a slave and saying japanese people were slave owners for political reason(s/only americans has slave.) so they are disingenuous to japanese culture, they are disingenuous to yasukes historically back ground, they are also making it okay for one guy to kill a ton of other people from a different race. But had this been the shows on the other foot. Japanese enslaving blacks and other asian cultures this would be bad.
So yah ubisoft yall fucked up. And whoever started the franchise and held it together no longer exists and for that the story will inevitably suffer.
Itll spend too much time trying to rewrite history instead of making a game about assassin and templar fighting through the history we knew.
Thats to me what made assassin creed wildly fun to follow and the game play was for me always fun to play.
As a history lover it was fun to see how ubisoft intertwines histroy with fiction. Now they are just making fiction with historical characters but still trying to keep the continuity of all the older games as well. This doesnt work because the other games were more grounded in real locations as well as keeping history some what intact.
Ubisoft and most companies we loved are not held up by the same devs that made the games we loved. This is why game ips die. It as if jk rolling wrote the harry potter 1-3 and then some rando makes 4-7. It just doesnt usually work well if the old author doesnt help the new author.well rant over . Screw ubisoft.

2024.05.19 18:01 fluffiestdandelion LPDO sample set review

Hi folks! I'm fairly new to the fragrance world and looking to develop a collection. I'm starting to sample different scents to get my nose accustomed to the different notes. I recently got my hands on an LPDO sample kit and seeing that this brand is still new and not much talked about, I thought of giving a review of the samples I got for those interested.
LPDO is an Italian brand, said to be producing affordable, good quality fragrances inspired by luxury scents, and they also have gorgeous bottles imo. The discovery kit comprises all of their fragrances, at a whopping 24 samples for 15,90 euros free shipping (!!!).
I sprayed them all on paper, then on myself and smelled them over a few hours before writing my thoughts. I'd like to specify, I am not a professional and as I said I'm just getting started, so forgive me if I'm not super accurate with the notes - or outright too basic with my descriptions! But hey, all for honesty and growing, right? Here we go:
  1. Gotique island - Warm spices, sweet, comforting, the opening leans slightly masculine but quickly transforms into creamy orange blossoms and vanilla. Feels sophisticated and mature, but slightly overpowering for my taste. 7/10
  2. Superbe Café - rose bomb with coffee. i'm not a rose lover so I don't know what I expected. Smells like rose and burnt paper. Gave this to a friend instantly and I hope she doesn't wear it around me. 4/10
  3. Soleil Desire - this I was most excited about because I love citrus and was not disappointed. Fresh, energetic, gingery, not sweet at all. Sage shines through beautifully but is gone quickly. Overall a solid unisex summer scent. 7/10
  4. Vanille Persuasive - this is supposed to be the dupe for TF Tobacco Vanille but I haven't smelled that so can't confirm. It's vanilla with cloves, rum and dried fruits, has a luscious, deep and warm feeling. Good for the festive season I suppose, but I fear it can get too cloying. Not my thing but I can see the appeal. 6/10
  5. Royal Tiaré - there's actually no Tiaré in this. Smells like pretty white flowers, creamy and sweet with a hint of pink pepper. Stays close to the skin. It's a comforting smell, like some good quality body lotion, with a luxurious sexy feel. I found myself smelling my arm over and over, even though at the start I thought it wasn't for me. Was going to give this a 6.5 but I might bump this to a 7/10
  6. Fleur Noire - inspired by TF Black Orchid (haven't tried that though, I'd like to know if it comes close). I found this very intriguing. Spicy mandarin orange, a hint of green (is it gardenia?) and some lovely jasmine shining through. After a bit it becomes deeper, woody and tobacco-y, with a mysterious somewhat dark aura, and it lasts a good while. Might get too smoky after a while, but I enjoyed it. 7.5/10
  7. La Nuit Blanche - inspired by Bianco Latte, I suppose. Smells like caramel vanilla, with a slightly bitter opening that reminds me of fresh almonds. After it's just sweet, milky vanilla creme caramel, like a more sophisticated version of pink sugar. Girly girly sweet tart 6.5/10
  8. Voyage Secret - I did not like this. It smells pungent like vinyl paint. Very balsamic, a bit of rose and amber. Definitely too harsh. 4/10
  9. Soul Sea - breezy, salty, junipery, very masculine. Pleasant and calming. The drydown smells like clean salty skin like fresh out of the ocean. Handsome Mediterranean man in the office. 7/10
  10. Mieloud - I had high expectations for this one as I was curious about the honey notes and I'm so sad :( smells like cough drops but very bitter and medicinal. The bitterness goes quickly but so does the honey aroma and all that's left is oud and incense. For real, I had a bitter taste in my mouth after smelling this. 3/10
  11. Excentum - supposed to be Accento by Xerjoff. Opens up very green and fresh, then turns into jasmine and lily of the valley with just a hint of rose, not overpowering which I like. Very classy woman in the workplace. Unfortunately it didn't last very long but I could see myself going back to this for sure 7.5/10
  12. Touché - very surprised by this! I expected this to be more subtle, but it isn't, in a good way. Peach and red fruits on a white flowers creamy base, reminds me of Garnier shampoo. Girly, fresh, happy vibes. A bit too juvenile for some, I suppose, still I might consider getting a full bottle of this. Perfect for spring. 8/10
That's all the ones I've been through so far!! Let me know if you want an update with the rest of the samples (there's about ten left) and more importantly what do you think. Also, let me know if you are aware of what are the other designer fragrances that inspired these. Bye all!

2024.05.19 17:12 VizierAreme Rough Chapter 5

Waking up in the middle of the night I find myself restless
So much has come into focus in the last few days. The station, my first steps on another world. It is all a bit overwhelming. Relaxing my thoughts drift off thinking about how I got here. A young girl on Europa, being selected for training after my aptitude tests, the Academy on Ganymede. Then as always my thoughts drift back to… her…
Lucy…
We started at rivals at the academy, we were from different worlds. Literally, me from Europa a wet ocean world remote and isolated, her an inner worlder from the hot dusty plains of Venus. We were water and fire.
The professors pitted us against each other from day one, based on our aptitude tests we were the top of the class. They split the class into teams and gave us challenges. I like to say I got the better of her, I was fast out the gate winning a few challenges. But Lucy turned back on me in a vengeance, she had a magnetism to her that caused our classmates to almost be addicted to her. People from my team would defect over to Lucy. Soon I found myself vastly outnumbered.
One day after Lucy and her team thrashed me again in a simulated strategy challenge. I left and I needed to be alone. I showered, went into the sauna. Replaying the moves again and again. How was I going to get the upper hand. She outnumbered me so much.
Everyone knew to leave me alone in the sauna. It was where I thought, relaxed, my place of peace. I was frustrated, I lean back against the wall and let me hands wander. Gently down my body, letting my stress evaporate as I tease myself…Then the door opened…. And it was Lucy. A cocky grin in her face.
We had been thinking about nothing but each other and we had both become obsessed. When that tension broke. Let me just say in a sauna fire and water combine to make something beautiful. Lucy and I did as well.
She moved towards me quickly, letting her towel drop, she was direct with a purpose. Grabbing the back of my head and kissing me deeply. I was shocked.. surprised... Excited..
I grabbed the back of her head and kissed her back. A deep need inside of me welling up, our lips slid across each other's as our tongue intertwined. I poured my life water of passion into her. She flared up and accepted my passion. Her hands exploring my body as I moved my knees between her legs.
Fuuuccckkk…. When she arched her back… so beautiful… MMM nnngghhhh an orgasm washed over me in my bed while I thought of Lucy.
Panting… even after all this time, separated by a waygate and unfathomable distance my body still yearned for her, I still yearned for her. Rolling onto my side I stare out my window into the vastness of space and the void. My fingers still ryhmically dancing on my pussy. Fingers sliding in and out
Your taught at the academy not to develop attachments, especially since the top prize, the highest honor of our training, to one day fly a deep space exploration through a waygate. Which would put us alone, in a different system. Like I am now.
Even if I power up my waygate in record time and rush home. Lucy is most likely gone. She was my alternate, meaning had I been unable to go this time she would have. It also means she most likely the deployed to her own system and would be gone before I returned. Likely I would never see her again.
Biting my lips and pressing a hand out onto the glass…yes…yes.. there
Fuck again….Fuucckkkkk LLLLuuucccCC
EeeeeeeeeerrrrrreeeemmmmmAAAAAA, a beautiful black haired woman orgasms in a bed identical to Emeras save the ambient lighting is blue inside of pink.
Fuck…. That was good. I find myself panting as I step out into the hallway of my ship. 2 days since the waygate, 6 months since I last saw Emera. Since she departed through her gate. Stars know if she still lives.
It was a rare happening, another gate coming online shortly after Emera’s departure. I thought I would be flying routine patrols around the system. Now I'm alone. Alone with my thoughts of her, and my AI Julia. Fuck. Why couldn't we have gone together. Why only one pilot to a ship. Who knows maybe she's thinking of me. Technically the systems we are in are closer together than home. That's something…
You're probably wondering if I was outnumbered and Lucy normally had my number in competition then how did I get to leave first. Yes, I did sleep with high command. That was only my closing argument though. You see Lucy had her magnetism that caused people to be addicted to her, she drew people in. But I was better at strategy and nuanced maneuvers.
The rules weren't strict on the teams, people defected all the time. Keeping your people together was part of the challenge. I decided to break that challenge.
No Battleplan survives first contact with the enemy afterall. Why not break the competition itself
My enemy wasn't Lucy, trust me we had been together enough at this point my heart swelled when I saw her. My enemy was the rules, and proctors.
There had to be two team in the academy for the lessons to work. But the rules only set a minimum not a maximum.
Lucy and her best 4 left her team, and me and my best 4 left my team. We formed a new team with Lucy and I at the head. The proctors were fuming. I was called into their offices again and again. Which is what led to me sleeping with a few of them to get ahead. It is always good to solicit a meeting with superiors, you can always be turned to your advantage.
In the Academy, there were 50 of us girls. The proctors let us keep our 3rd team, but declared no one else could join us. It was the ten of us vs double our number on both the other teams. Not ideal… but we had Lucy and I together. My how we shined
We out maneuvered, out paced, and out thought the other teams again and again and again..
Entering into the final the proctors split everyone up, eliminating the team. Just to try and stop us from sweeping the competition. Instead there would be 25 teams of 2 members each of our own selection. Lucy and I naturally selected each other.
We set down on a terraformed valley on Mars, all the other duos were around. The mission was complex. Gather knowledge, survive in the wilderness, there were simulator villages where we had to set up relations, and if possible eliminate other teams.
The gravity is different from what I'm used to, my body feels heavy. Sluggish, they train us on this and soon I'll adapt. But first landing it hits me like a weight. Ffuuuccckkk I murmur as I land my account ship on the surface.
Lucy always compares a new celestial body to a lover. Well for me Mars just grabbed my hair, slapped my ass and pushed in
Fuck I can't imagine landing on Earth. Triple this, fuck that give me my moon mother's oceans anyday.
I suck deep and hard on the control in my mouth and all three extract from me. I am about to get up from the control seat when I feel a palm in the small of my back
“Lucy not funny, let me up” I say
She giggles, and rubs my ass cheeks before her fingers rub against my lips
I moan biting my lip as I push myself against her hand
“I knew the gravity here would give a Moonie like you a good fucking, you're so wet my love”
Rolling my head back and forth..”quickly we have to debrief and set up camp” I moan
She smacks my ass again and her fingers deftly slide to work, one hand pinning me to the chair while she teases my sex, her thumb rubbing in perfect circles on my clit and her fingers pulling on my g-spot
“Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes uuuhhhhh my love it feel so good” shaking my hips back and forth I feel it building as I rock my hips on her hand
Squeezing….my leg….quivering… my voice squeaking… “uuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh ffuuuccckkk” I moan as I feel the orgasm wash over me…
Lucy slaps my ass playfully and licks her fingers… “let's go my love, stop playing around we have to set up camp” she giggles
“Oh!! You!!” I get up and rush after her slapping her ass when I catch up
Carryalls follow us out of the ship.. I immediately sent out the scout drones and assessed our landing spot. Allocating tasks and running diagnostics.
Lucy set about converting the ship to a shelter and arranging power arrays, and deciding on perimeter defenses
We were a perfect power duo. Our carryalls and scouts were soon all at work, and Lucy was finishing up the shelter
I needed to repay her, so I slowly walked up behind her. She heard my heavy steps in the gravity. Turning to look at me she beamed at me. My heart melted and grabbing both sides of her face I pinned her to the side of the ship. Our bodies intertwined and our lips locked.
She moaned at me giggling, pushing my knee between her legs, and we quickly undressed each other. Her mouth on my breast, as my hand glided down to her slick vagina.
Grabbing her chin roughly and up turning her head exposing her neck I sink my teeth into it as I push forward with my knee back and forth pressing my fingers in and out of her.
A deep moan emanates from her, licking my bite mark I kiss up her neck until my forehead is resting hers. Eye to eye, I watch the pleasure build in her. Thrust after thrust of my knee. My fingers pressing into her g-spot every time, my palms pressing and grinding onto her clit
“Cum for me my love, give me your sweetness, I want your water to be the first I drink on this planet” I breath
I feel her pussy tighten and grip my fingers. Her legs twisting around me… she goes silent… a flush rises in her flesh… we kiss deep, and long, and passionately as I feel her gush onto my hand as orgasm rapts her body..
I watch her eyes dilate and relax I kiss her gently again before kissing down, my lips brushing through her pubic hair tickling my lips. Opening my mouth and pressing my tongue in I drink of her orgasm
My fingers inside pressing to work again, she cries out as she rocks her hips grinding her lips to mine. As she gushes another orgasm into my mouth..
I can even taste and feel it now on my tongue…
Releasing her, and helping her up I grin
Walking awayz the top of my leotard open my tits out in the sun
“I'm up by one my love, and you taste so GGGGOOOOoooOOooddddDD” I giggle setting back to work.
Days and weeks pass Lucy and I set up our camp. Wefind nearby teams before they find us. We quickly fall on them in the night, clearing our immediate area, eliminating them from the contest. We bathe in a nearby stream, sun ourselves on the rocks, make love on the soft moss of the forest.
I don't know if I've ever been happier, ever been more at peace l than I was then with Lucy. Her and I… her and I against the world.
We make good progress setting up relations with 12 of the 15 villages. Our camp is well stocked. We receive updates from the proctors from dead drops. Seems out of the 25 teams only 8 remain. Lucy and I have eliminated 7 ourselves.
We need to be the last standing, triumphant together.. so that maybe.. maybe we can convince them to send two of us on a ship. Imagine the wonders, this wouldn't be temporary, but would become our life.
Lucy and I talk about it often. We can convince them. We'll defeat the others then refuse to turn on each other.
Our dream died that night…
We were naked, curled up in each others arms when the alarm sounded..all the alarms
Proximity alert for 14 signals… they had teamed up on us. 14 on 2 they were going to eliminate the front runners while they still could.
Fuck.
Lucy and I turned and quickly downed our emergency biotic vials just as a concussive blast hit our ship shelter.
“Fuck! They aren't supposed to attack equipment!” I yell
“The proctors must have sent them, they should be intervening with that!” Lucy says
“You're better in a fight, charge them and I'll flank” I yell
We nod at each other and we are off naked as the day we were born
Lucy bursts from our ship her shield bursting out in front of her
I dart out the side and task our scouts and drones to make dive bomb attacks on the intruders
I leap over a blast, grab a tree branch and swing. I land my legs on either side of the head. Of one the attackers, twisting my flip her over and knock her out. Back on the run, I see Lucy take out another one as drones dive in and out of the chaos.
Lucy blocks to her right and charges blasting herself high into the air, twirling before blasting herself downward tackling her target to the ground and eliminating her.
She's about to get blasted from behind when I take the attackers in the flank, knee to the solarplex. My hand on the side of her neck I thrust up hard with my knee. In the low gravity she turns and flies off into the trees as I raise my hands and blast another in the side.
She turns just in time to block my attack, when Lucy rockets into her side with her elbow

2024.05.19 16:56 Ankur_Bong Missed Connection - Good Times at Davey Wayne’s (5/17)

Long shot but no harm trying I guess. I was visiting LA this past week and hit it off with two wonderful women (they are family friends). In particular, I connected and vibed very well with one of them named Jennifer! The three of us spent 2 hours together at the place. Talked, had some drinks and vibed to the music. At around 12 45, they told me they are leaving and we hugged goodbye. I meant to follow them outside to see them off but got lost in the crowd and by the time I was out, they had driven off. I was stupid to not have exchanged socials or contacts earlier :(
I tried looking up Jennifer on social media but obviously there are too many of them in LA lol! Unfortunately, I forgot her friend’s name. Things I know about Jennifer which might be useful in finding her:
She works in real estate finance
Lived in Chicago before LA
Lives in WeHo but moving to Hollywood in early June
Short Brunette - 43 years old but I thought she was late 20s haha
She is lactose intolerant
Jennifer, if you are reading this. I am the Indian guy (Amar) who you met at the patio of the bar. I was flying back the next morning. I thought we really hit it off despite the age difference.
Fingers crossed that this sub can do some magic and help me find Jennifer :)

2024.05.19 16:34 Fire_brigade_ [TOMT] [ff] Can anybody help me find a fanfiction? It's a Ji/kook ff

So I read this book around a year ago, and I can't find it no matter how hard I try. It has a blue, pink, purple shade (tho I'm not very sure) cover and probably has a three word title.
The tropea is strangers to friends to lovers. J/K is a student who js moved to LA? OR LV? And there he stays with his Foster family. That family has a son, J/M, and from there onwards they become friends, hang out often and then lovers. Jk lives in the basement of that house which they designed for Foster kids. It's a very wholesome kind of story with little to no angst. (I don't even remember if there's any angst). It's written in a very detailed manner but not dragged in any way. Help me find it pls

2024.05.19 16:19 Lordzoot Serge Lutens - Ambre Sultan Review

Serge Lutens is one of the most enigmatic figures in perfumery. Famous for a love of wearing black, he is a curiously aloof character, who appears to enjoy playing the role of both artist and psychoanalyst at the same time. His creative output, likewise traverses the realms of the rational and the emotive; usually within the same piece.
Take his 2013 release La Fille de Berlin, for example - it’s about as ruthlessly cold as a rose can get (think the olfactory version of Dr. Lilith from Frasier!), yet it still manages to project an air of femininity and vulnerability.
Ambre Sultan meanwhile, which is the focus of this particular post, is a similarly captivating piece of work, and arguably rewrote the rulebook on amber perfumes on its release in 1993. The notes, if we’re to go by Fragrantica, include the following (in no defined order):
Resins, Amber, Bay Leaf, Myrrh, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Coriander, Oregano, Patchouli, Angelica, Myrtle
As per the note breakdown, Ambre Sultan contains, as one would expect, all the traditional hallmarks of an amber perfume, but it is so much more than that - it is a nostalgic exploration of the scents of Marrakech. To quote the man himself:
This fragrance is not an Oriental, but an Arab and a Lutens. That being the case, don't expect it to fit in. The point of departure was a scented wax, found in a souk and long forgotten in a wooden box. The amber only became sultanesque after I reworked the composition using cistus, an herb that sticks to the fingers like tar, then added an overtone that nobody had ever dreamed of: vanilla
Serge is on the money in describing Ambre Sultan as an ‘Arab and a Lutens’. I should know - I’ve wandered the very same souks in Marrakech myself. My memory of picking through those bustling streets in the dry heat of a distant April is perfectly captured by the perfume - a combination of green herbs and spices, dusty patchouli and burning labdanum that effortlessly recreates the scents of the warren-like passageways of the medina. Sometimes it can even display an almost crystalline or ‘sandy’ feel reminiscent of the the smell of the ancient buildings of the city.
If those accords represent the Arab aspect of the perfume though, the ‘Lutens’ element lies in the tying of these to the sweeter notes in the composition so as to create something that can be worn for pleasure. Ambre Sultan is, therefore, an olfactory study of an Arabian city merged with classic French perfumery.
It wasn’t actually Uncle Serge (as he is affectionately known) that created the formula behind the fragrance, of course. That honour goes to the legendary Christopher Sheldrake who, as well as composing the vast majority of the Lutens catalogue, has his fingerprints over many of the best Chanel releases of recent times. His technical prowess is what makes the creative vision a reality, although there also seems to be a bit of the Lutens rebeliousness in Sheldrake himself - he was originally training as an architect before he fell in love with making fragrances and is clearly a well-travelled man of culture. Perfumery it seems, is one of the very few industries that allows one to marry a passion for art and science.
It is, remarkably, over thirty years since Ambre Sultan hit the shelves, and it is now firmly established as being a ‘reference’ amber. Indeed, in my personal opinion, it is one of the most important and influential perfumes of all time as well as being one of my favourite perfumes to wear. It is still utterly contemporary too - it could have been made yesterday.
As a result of its success, the concept behind it has, of course, been riffed on numerous times over the decades. Andy Tauer’s L'Air du Desert Marocain, for instance, takes a similar approach, but drops almost all pretences of being a perfume in favour of artistic statement. Zoologist’s Camel, meanwhile, chooses to introduce animalic facets which add skank to the amber accord.
On the more traditional side of the spectrum, L'Eau D'Ambre Extrême by L’Artisan Parfumeur replaces the caustic spices of Sultan with a warming nutmeg note which mingles alongside a gentle balmy vanilla. All, however, trace a clear line back to the Lutens in some form.
It’s also worth noting that Serge Lutens as a brand has also been inspired by Ambre Sultan and a number of the company’s future releases can be linked thematically, and osmatically, to it. So much so, in fact, that the Lutens style is often, unfairly, generalised as being based around resinous notes (there is much more depth to the catalogue!). That being said, lovers of these accords would be well advised to sample Cuir Mauresque, an Arabian themed leather that owes its heritage to Knize 10, the labdanum heavy La Couche du Diable, and the aldehydic and confectionary Arabie.
For me, however, Ambre Sultan will always be the most perfect expression of both the Lutens approach and the amber genre.

2024.05.19 15:11 Brilliant-Rough8239 Women always say if men paid attention they wouldn't be shocked by the breakup, but is it even possible for the man to save the relationship?

I'll admit, I say this from the perspective of a guy going through heartbreaking problems in my relationship, LTR of three years, planned future together, desperate to start renting while both unemployed in the worst housing market in the country in one of the worst job markets in recent times, shit is rough
My relationship was and has been tumultuous, we've broken up before, gotten back together many times, last time was 2 years ago. My gf and I frequently have talks about whether we can move forward together, whether or not I am "reliable", whether or not we are compatible, whether or not I am adult enough to be deserving of a relationship with her, things like that, whether or not I'm someone she can depend on to help her escape her home life, the idea that I'm the one forcing the relationship. From my end, it feels like I'm stuck as a constant therapist, frequently a punching bag, always have to be available, pay for the majority of expenses, have to be the mellow one, and try making myself a sex god basically.
I know how all this sounds, you don't need to comment on my relationship. I've never had a love like this before, I only stated the negatives, not the positives, ditto for her negatives, we are still together for a reason.
The thing I'm wondering is, though, I always see women on here claim that the breakup is always the man's fault, it always comes purely down on him, it's always us, after all, the woman breaks up with us months beforehand, and no matter how much it hurts the man to lose what is likely his only deeply intimate human connection in his life, it's nothing compared to being a woman and being chained to a being that is less perfect than yourself, and also is incapable of providing for you entirely, in a horrible economy.
The thing is, can the man actually save the relationship though? Would you ever let him? If your demands on the man are things you yourself aren't doing can he save the relationship? If he's meant to provide for you when you can't provide for himself can he do it? If he's meant to not only pursue things he wants, but also pursue things you want for you, whether or not he can even afford them is it actually possible for him to save the relationship?
The things my girlfriend has told me often fills me with despair, because the only problems she has that are readily fixable are flaws related to my personality, other things, like wanting me to save her from her circumstances, wanting me to be a 24/7 personal assistant or slave (my gf has regularly told me she wants a 24/7 personal assistant or slave), wanting me to be essentially some dominant alpha guy but also not that simultaneously; basically forcing me to constantly prove my worth and simply put in significantly more effort than her, in addition to already being her therapist, lover, and best friend all in one, I truly don't know if these are things I can do right now. And what makes it worse, once I get another job, once I build up more savings, I can do the things she wants of me.
One thing she resents me for is that I never put as much effort into renting an apartment for us despite having a full time job before I got laid off, the thing is, I didn't put in that effort because only I was working while she is unemployed, we live in a major city with very high rents and neither of us can drive so we can't move elsewhere and most places that are cheap have no jobs anyway; no I wasn't putting as much effort into finding housing for us as she did, not nearly enough, but that was because I wanted to feel fully secure so that if we moved in together our life would not be precarious and we wouldn't grow to resent each other due to the stress of living on edge; but of course her family isn't abusive so I'm not even upset that it just isn't enough for her, but it's like, our original plan was for me to work full time and her to work part time so we can support each other, she herself changed it to just me, and while my last job was higher than average pay, it was nowhere near enough for a secure life in this city.
Sorry if I ranted too much about me, it ain't about me, my thing is, what I wanted to discuss is, maybe in spite of women claiming that the breakup is telegraphed for months in advance or even years in advance, maybe the problem is that what the women are demanding are genuinely more than what the man can provide, maybe the women hold off on the breakup because they know on some level they just aren't actually being fair to their partner, and maybe the men act deeply hurt not because they didn't hear or heed their partner, but rather because they truly believed that love might win out and their partner would love them enough to see what they love rather than pet-peeves they dislike, or even accept that he is trying his best?
I know for my partner, I truly feel I am trying my absolute best. My last job, for all the pay, was extremely exploitative and abusive, it ran on a climate of fear where threats of termination were constant, eventually I myself was terminated, despite this I was always there for her, always soothed her heart and pain, was her constant therapist and supporter and friend and financed all of our dates and if I only had a bit more savings would have financed our lives too, she was and is loving, she's amazing, through my pain and misery she was there for me too, but it's like, what's demanded of me to even be worthy of her love at this point is more than what I can even give no matter how much I want to, and she tells me that she fears a future with me because she thinks I can't plan or finance effectively, and it all boils down to....
I understand her problems and her complaints and my flaws, but yet, how can I singularly save the entire relationship, finance both our lives, completely keep myself together mentally through all this and it's just...my gf sometimes thinks I'm only with her due to scarcity mindset or because I think she's the "best" I could get, but that's not true, I love her with all my heart, with everything within me, she's the only person I want a future with, and the main reason I fear breaking up most of all is, what becomes of all the pain, suffering, and heartbreak I endured? The time and money I invested? The stress? And all to potentially go through that again, with another woman, in some distant future, with even more baggage, and even more of my youth gone?
TL;DR: What if women really do expect too much of their male partners and the man actually cannot save the Relationship no matter how much he tries? What if every expectation met leads only to a higher demand and expectation? When a man has already hollowed himself out almost completely what else can he give to his partner?
Please don't make this about me or my relationship, I'm using my own situation as a comprehensive example, and again, I am reasonable towards my girlfriend's demands, she absolutely does deserve to be provided for, I just don't want to be discarded for something I can't immediately do, and as a mam, I don't think I can actually stop that from happening no matter what I do
