Seattle metro bus timetable

I'm having my best week ever

2024.05.20 05:17 Derreekk I'm having my best week ever

Ever since Target 360 launched I have been getting great tips, tons of orders on promo all the time, preferred member orders keep rolling in... most the new member orders have been great. Done about 30 orders so far this week and my average is just over $30. I can't remember a time ever doing this many orders with an average that high. I know some of you... most of you... are hating on 360 and I don't know what to think to be honest because it's going great for me. I'm in the greater seattle metro and in a slightly more upscale area so it may just be specific to here.. idk. I'm sorry it's going so poorly for all of you though.

2024.05.20 05:00 spring_ways Metro / Subway stop spacing

Metro / Subway stop spacing
Red are the former stops. Blue is the new stops.
How closely do you space your metro stations? I have 2 suburban areas, I put one station in each area with a bus distributing people from the metro station. However I had way too much traffic, so I replaced it with 6 metro stops. Each about 3 blocks apart. Is that overkill? So far there has been some traffic reduction but there is still room for improvement.
How far apart do you space your metro stops? What about tram stops?

2024.05.20 03:52 HeckingHecker1 Learning + Practicing Driving Near UT Campus

Just for some context, I got my driver's license near the end of my senior year in high school but have barely driving since then and now I'm completely out of touch. It's to the point that I kind of get nervous every time I have to drive. I'm going to be on UT campus during the summer starting June and I'm considering just retaking driving lessons, from taking classroom courses in driving to practicing driving around campus and maybe a little beyond. I heard some students learned to drive or stayed in touch with driving through Austin Driving School, so I have some questions:
Apologies for asking so many questions but I'm very keen on trying to get back to driving soon. Any answers and advice would be appreciated, thank you so much!

Is anyone successfully using one bag for the daily urban commute (i.e. bus/metro/train not car)? I have to take a laptop to and from the office 3 days a week on a hybrid schedule. Backpacks are more comfortable but I always struggle with needing my commuter pass to be easily accessible. A backpack plus a small crossbody would work but then I feel like a bag lady. Anyone managing it with just one bag? If so please share which one. Thanks!

2024.05.20 01:07 Maleficent_Cash909 How come no rapid metro lines nor BRT stops on i10?

It’s interesting how La metro seems to have the few if any heavy capicity metro lines in the world entirely without above ground passenger service except for their rail yard explaining why the trains still look so dirty on outside. Only the LAMTA LRT lines has above ground but it’s very inefficient in comparison. And also it seems very dated for its age. And it appears no plans at all to expand it east.
It seem to make more sense to build metro in median of i10 and route Metrolink to existing tracks to the north. Some of the stops would get a lot of ridership ie at atlantic, Garfield, Delmasan Gabriel interchanges would attract a lot of ridership as they are pretty busy with commuters daily. Including between these SGV cities. Many working class immigrants and elderly living in that one mile radius don’t have regular access to cars nor have a place to park them.
Though what’s puzzling is how the silver BRT line that had been here for decades have no median stops on i10 except for CSULA between El Monte bus transfer station and outside the Union station unlike what it does on 110. And there no BRT on i10 towards I know the Santa Monica big blue bus runs there but is not BRT just express but it’s not fast.

Anyone else here ride Metro because they’re scared of vehicular violence? I desperately want to drive a car so that I too can pay $12,000 a year to melt glaciers, contribute to sprawl, help fund resource wars, experience the freedom of gridlock, and signal to people that I’m a big shot — but the streets are just so unsafe! One Angeleno is murdered by an antisocial motorist every 40 hours and 150 incidents of traffic violence every day! Why isn’t there a fare charged to keep these crazies off the road? Why aren’t cops — who get half the city’s budget — doing more to prevent vehicular violence?! I guess I’ll just riding the bus the few safe.

2024.05.19 21:01 teckobit cuddly moment with a very handsome stranger on an overnight bus

F in mid 20's
tl;dr cuddly moment with a very handsome stranger on an overnight bus and it's hard to stop thinking about him!! Even though I realize how superficial it is. He's handsome and comes off very personable yet respectful, I think part of why it's so on my mind is because I wonder if this was a completely normal experience for him, one that he didn't even bat an eye at cause he's used to things like this.
No dm's please unless it's specifically in response to the following. Moving my thoughts/questions to the top so they can be read first: - how common is this, personal experiences of stories from others? - when someone next to you says, you can lean on me if you're comfortable with it/if you want... how often do you think it's an invitation for something more? and that taking up that offer means something more?
So I was recently on a 6 hr overnight bus in Europe. We boarded around 10:30 pm, so it's late and people are tired. I boarded at the frist stop and i'm like sweeeet, the bus is only half full and i'll probably have both seats to myself (window/aisle). i make kind of an asshole move and sit in the window seat (always my preference) even though i think my assigned seat is actually aisle, thinking that I'll just swap if i do have a seat mate who wants window. so i'm trying to rest, and at the next stop, this tall apparation appears next to the aisle i'm in and says he's here. i don't take a good look at him and at first am wary that this is just a guy trying to sit next to a girl when there are so many other seats open, not cause i think i'm hot shit but because my recent luck on flights convinced me that i'd have the aisle to myself hahaha. so he sits down in the aisle seat and we don't say antything to each other. we're both trying to sleep but also very restless, moving around, changing positions etc.
I notice he's restless too and feel bad that he's actually supposed ot have window seat, thinking he could lean his head against the window and also realizing i have a little rolled puffer jacket that i could place between my shoulder and head for neck suppport. so i offer to switch seats with him. he's like, sure. now more often than not, our thighs aren't touching, but occasionally and with increasing frequency there are moments where they do touch and neither of us move away. personally it feels good, the warmth. a little bit later, i'm moving around and he's like, you can rest your head on my shoulder if you want. so i'm like, oh thank you. I try not to but eventually i lean a little bit on him and at one point I put my firm rolled jacket onto his shouler and lean on that lol.
suddenly (it probably wasn't sudden but i was in and out of sleep) I realize that his hand is ever so slightly touching my lower, left thigh. i'm like :0 again, it feels good. I nuzzle my leg towards him so that his hand covers more of it. it's like this for a while and gets a little frisky for a few seconds where i'm pushing towards him with a little more intensity and i can feel it returned through his hand on my thigh. It never moves up but he does try to feel my breasts under my top. but i'm wearing an athletic tank with a sports bra so in his sleepy low effort state he doesnt and I'm also kind of relieved cause I feel like that would've broken the substantial physical boundaries we still had, given how i was already feeling.
we're both still not reaching any kind of deep sleep, we'll occasionally muster "did you fall asleep?" to each other when either of us wakes up a little. it was cute. i'm also changing positions and at one point, i try lying in his lap with my knees bent over the side of the seat next to the aisle. I notice that his flannel jacket thing smells good and it's reassuring that this stranger man is hygenic lol. now this part fucking getsss me. for some reason, his hand is by my neck and he gently grazes it. i probably lean into that and he moves his hand near my mouth, like i was so close to kissing his fingers but the fact they're proabbly germy af despite his fresh smelling clothing is enough to stop me in this sleepy daze that i'm in. i try to not make conversation cause i don't wanna open more doors.
after that I sit up again cause i'm like... hm i want to re establish some physical boundaries for myself cause i'm a hair away from losing it. his hand is on my leg again and i interlace my fingers on his, and sometimes the gems and silver on my fingers glitter in the moonlight. i would pull myself away though cause i was like, hm this is too much.
ANYWAY, we reach our destination very early, before the city metro lines are running. our accomodations are somewhat close so we split a rideshare car there. at this point, i learn his name, basic info about what he does for work etc. we trade contact info and we text each other a, hope you get to your spot safely/maybe we can hang out, etc but never meet up during my 2 days in that city (for the better), then text each other that it was nice to meet you, wish you the best on your travels.

What are some fiction books, any genre, set in Washington? Seattle metro area is my preference but the entire state is fair game.
I'd love to hear about some by indigenous authors.
I live across the water in Kitsap so "the Bones At Point No Point" and all of DD Black's books are well known to me. I've also already hit up "Lawn Boy" and Jonathan Evison's other books.
Bonus points for anything dystopian that is not just a newspaper. 🫠

2024.05.19 17:42 surprisesadness 28 [M4F] EST/Canada/USA/Anywhere - Are you lonely? Then let's be lonely together!

Hello fellow redditors,
I write this today because I’ve been yearning for emotional intimacy between two people. I want to come back home and have a nice conversation with a partner about how our days went. I want someone to laugh with while doing silly things. I want to fall asleep while cuddling with someone as we’re watching a series. Would you be that someone for me? :3
I’ll do a little presentation. I'm a 28 year old Hispanic college student living in the East coast, Canada. I'm 175cm(5'9") and weigh 80kg(175 pounds). I'm fit enough to look fit (even though I having a few pounds during lockdown) but not enough to sprint more than the time needed to catch the bus. I'm decently good looking based on the opinion of many people. Two of them being my mom and grandma and the other one being that old lady that I helped on the metro that called me handsome. I'm more than open to share pics for an unbiased opinion though.
For my hobbies, I like to exercise daily and by exercise I mean the sit-up I do every morning to get out of bed. I like watching shows but not really into anything right now. I used to be into Grimm and Game of Thrones (until last season). I like to watch anime, all time favorite being Steins;Gate. I've been binging Ranking of Kings and it's really good! However, I'm mostly into YouTube right now, watching videos essais about movies and other documentary type stuff. I've also been quite into Apex and Overwatch 2 recently. I've been playing often with a couple of friends on the afternoons. I like competitive multiplayer games as I used to play a whole lot of Smite, but I also like story based single player games like The Witcher 3 and the last God of War game. Recently, I’ve been wanting to get back into Ark too. I'm also in to reading at the moment. I've been trying to finish a fantasy book series I started as a teenager but wasn't completed yet. I'm more of an indoor type (as you might have guessed) but I do like to go outside. Mostly to hang out with friends, but I also like to walk along the river near home to relax and clear my mind. I hope this is enough to give any potential reader who I am as a person. We don't have to share the same hobbies and like the same things but it would be a nice bonus :3
Personality wise, I'm very laidback and rarely stress over stuff. I have quite a dark humor and I am rarely insulted by stuff as I tend not to take things too seriously but I do know when I have to be serious.
I would like to find that special someone that would ideally be around my age (20-35) but I would be open to a wider range if we click. I have no preference but I do feel a certain level of physical attraction is important.
I wish you a wonderful day/night and thank you for your time.

2024.05.19 16:42 JacobOnAssholes TIFU By Sneaking Out To NYC To See A Girl Who Doesn't Even Love Me

The title is a bit misleading. It's been a few months since this happened. You may be asking, why did you wait until May to post it? Well, what I did was pretty fucked up. I'll start on the day it happened.
My ex-girlfriend, let's call her S, had asked me to come visit her at her school in NYC. She goes to a great school in the City and, me, being a 16-year-old boy in love, decided, "hmm, let me ask my parents." Now I live in the Hudson Valley here in New York. It's not like getting to the City is a tall task at all. It would have been way simpler if my parents had let me. My mom conferred with a NYPD Officer in that location and came to the conclusion that her school wasn't in a safe neighborhood and didn't want me to go.
Anyway, a few weeks go by. I'm sitting down, and once again, S (who is 15) is pestering me about coming to her school. I want to say that the ex I had before her was extremely abusive. I was scared of breaking up. In an effort to make S happy, I said "I'll get over there as soon as I can." Well that was a major mistake, because for days, S pesters me requesting me to go. One cold Thursday afternoon, I said "fuck it." I told my mother I would be at extra help for my film class to finish filming (which I really did do, just not that day), turned off my tracking app, and walked my ass all the way across the bridge to the Tarrytown Metro-North Station.
Now here's where things get a little stupid. It took me an hour to cross the bridge. My school lets out at 2:15 and I had been at the station at 4. If you know anything about the MTA and Metro-North (and LIRR), there is Peak and Off-Peak fares. So obviously, I didn't come equipped with any money to pay the fare. I stupidly boarded the train, but fortunately for my dumbass, I met a very kind conductor, who was willing to let me travel for free, after I told him the whole story. He printed out a ticket, and I got out in Spuyten Duyvil, which is a neighborhood in the Bronx. Now, this in itself was a stupid choice. If I was really planning on making it to her school, I should have travelled further south to Harlem-152nd or Marble Hill. Anyway, it doesn't matter. I walked out of the station, and about 5 minutes into my walk, I looked around and saw some buildings.
It was PITCH. BLACK. outside. The only light were the street lights. I ended up on Broadway, not the Manhattan one, and thought I would glance at my phone. Well, boy, would you look at that. I'm at 5% battery! So I say, "you know what, fuck it!" I run my tiny ass back to Spuyten Duyvil Station, and board the next train back up North. The conductor is obviously pissed that I didn't have a ticket. This train terminated in Irvington, which meant I needed a last leg to get to Tarrytown.
On the train going to Tarrytown, the conductor did what nobody else did, and asked to scan my Learner's Permit. This stupidly included my address, phone, everything. I got off at Tarrytown, and boarded HudsonLink. The bus operator let me pay a reduced price. My mom calls me as I'm disembarking in my town, and she's furious. Obviously, I'm not at school right now. And obviously, I didn't take the Late Bus. I had my mom go pick me up from the town next to mine, and my only excuse was that I took the Late Bus and it dropped me off in the wrong spot.
My parents fell for it until 3 months later, when my dad goes marching up the stairs into my room, with a bill from Metro-North. The bill essentially read that I skipped a Peak fare. I tried to make up some bullshit, and say I boarded it and got off, but clearly, that's impossible because they wouldn't charge that fast. So my dad calls Metro North and made me pay for it. It was $11.75 because it was a Peak Hudson Fare.
Me and my ex have been broken up for a while now. I held off on posting this because I wanted to see if anything else would come from it, but it hasn't. If I get updates of any future bills, I'll be sure to update. Thank you for reading :), and don't put your life on the line for a girl who doesn't give a shit, it's not worth it.
TL;DR: A few months ago, I did something pretty reckless. My ex-girlfriend, S, asked me to visit her school in NYC. Despite my parents' concerns about the neighborhood, I decided to go without their permission. I lied to my mom, turned off my tracking app, and walked to the Tarrytown Metro-North Station. With no money for the fare, a kind conductor let me travel for free. I got off at Spuyten Duyvil in the Bronx but quickly realized I was lost and had a nearly dead phone battery. I rushed back to the station and headed home. Another conductor scanned my Learner's Permit, which led to a bill being sent to my house. My parents eventually found out when the bill arrived, and I had to pay $11.75 for the Peak fare. S and I have since broken up, and I learned not to risk so much for someone who doesn’t care.

2024.05.19 16:14 harpsichorddude Coast Starlight -> Southwest Chief Bus Bridge and Rooms

So, if one searches from the Pacific Northwest to stations on the Southwest Chief, Amtrak offers the following unholy 5-segment assemblage:
I have two questions about this trip.
  1. Are these bus connections guaranteed and/or reliable? What happens if the Starlight is late to Sacramento and you miss the bus to Stockton?
  2. Amtrak only offers a sleeper fare on the Coast Starlight and Southwest Chief when one books this combined itinerary. But if you look on the same day for just, say, Seattle->LA or LA->Albuquerque, coach fares are available. What's going on here?
(Yes, I know a reasonable person would just spend a night at LA to do the whole thing by comfortable train. However, I'm not always reasonable.)

2024.05.19 14:29 JarekBloodDragon Next world finals in salt lake city has to be the worst choice

You're hosting the world finals in an out door stadium, in a desert, in the summer, ON JULY 4TH.
You're running an event in an out door stadium in summer where it will probably be hot as hell, in a mid sized city at best with nothing to do. Yes they ran world finals in vegas for almost 2 decades but that always happened in march before the heat of the summer really kicked in.
For context here's some other west coast cities that probably would be better picks ordered by population.
Salt lake city metro population - 1,257,936
Portland, OR metro population - 2.5 million (This one is less logical as the only stadium big enough is their MLS stadium that seats 25k. Only 5k more than their NBA arena but with a much bigger floor space. Regardless, it's right downtown with lots to do and geographically a much better location for that time of year. Still a better option than salt lake city)
Denver, CO metro population - 2.8 million (Another mountain time city, mile high is in denver proper. Denver's airport is a huge transit hub for the west coast making for cheaper flights. In general a much better option)
Seattle metro population - 4 million (The seahawks AND mariners stadiums are right next to each other right downtown seattle. Both are on a public transit hub featuring light rail servicing the entire downtown corridor, enough said. Significantly better than salt lake city)
San Francisco metro - 4.6 million (Football stadium in santa clara and if that's not inner city enough then there's oracle park right in san francisco itself)
LA metro - 12.5 million (Just hosted a world finals event)
Like, SALT LAKE CITY of all places. Just, mind mindbogglingly dumb place to host the world finals. It doesn't even have the right infrastructure for this kind of thing. Also on a holiday in the summer in the desert, just why?

2024.05.19 14:09 NoraVanderbooben Copy/pasted because you gotta give them your email…

Copy/pasted because you gotta give them your email…
Nashville Mayor Freddie O'Connell's plan to overhaul the city's transportation network seeks to dramatically expand bus service, add miles of new sidewalks, shorten commutes and bolster safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
Why it matters: The plan, which O'Connell calls Choose How You Move, is his solution to an issue that has vexed generations of city leaders. It will require a sales tax increase that is likely to appear on the November ballot. State of play: Nashville is one of four of the 50 largest U.S. cities without dedicated funding for mass transit, which advocates say has clogged highways and hampered growth.
Because many federal grants require dedicated local funding for transportation, Nashville misses out on federal money for upgrades. But if the plan is approved, the city would be in line for over $1.4 billion in federal funding for transportation over the next 15 years, the mayor's office says. Between the lines: At a kickoff event at the Southeast Community Center in Antioch Friday, O'Connell sold the proposal as a way to ease the rising cost of living and improve quality of life for everyday Nashvillians.
O'Connell is asking residents to agree to a half-cent sales tax increase to pay for the plan. Although the initial price tag for the plan is $3.1 billion, his administration declined to immediately release a larger cost estimate that will also appear on the ballot in November. What he's saying: A recent Forbes analysis of drive times, public transit and walkability ranked Nashville as the hardest commute in the country.
To demonstrate how the plan would help, the mayor's office says a drive down perpetually congested Murfreesboro Pike would be 12 minutes shorter if the proposal is approved. "We will all benefit from Choose How You Move, whether anyone takes the bus or not," O'Connell told a crowd of supporters at Friday's event. During his announcement, O'Connell outlined specific improvements proposed under Choose How You Move.
🚶 Sidewalks: A lack of sidewalks has headlined the list of neighborhood complaints in Nashville for decades. O'Connell says his plan will address that by building 86 miles of sidewalks.
The result will be a 50% increase in the number of walkable neighborhoods. 🚦 Signals: Acknowledging that most Nashvillians don't take the bus, easing traffic congestion for everyone is a priority in Choose How You Move.
O'Connell proposes building or modernizing 592 traffic signals. The improved signals will use technology to manage traffic flow. A new traffic management center can analyze where congestion is the worst and make changes to signal patterns in real time. 🚌 Bus service: The plan would add bus rapid transit — which is super-fast bus service synched to traffic signals — on busy corridors such as Murfreesboro Pike, Nolensville Pike and Gallatin Pike. Some of the rapid buses will travel on dedicated lanes, avoiding car traffic.
O'Connell proposes to build 12 transit centers and 17 park-and-ride facilities for commuters. Choose How You Move would increase total bus service by nearly 80%, according to the mayor's office. ⚠️ Safety: Nashville has been plagued by pedestrian deaths and unsafe intersections. In response, the proposal seeks to make the necessary safety improvements at 25 intersections and 78 miles of the most dangerous stretches of Nashville streets.
By not disclosing the larger price tag that will appear on the ballot, the O'Connell administration kicked the can on the most likely source of political criticism.
What we're watching: According to an outline of the plan, the initial cost estimate is $3.1 billion. However, that figure doesn't include additional costs that will also be disclosed in the actual ballot language.
Kevin Crumbo, O'Connell's top finance adviser, says an audit of the proposed financing will be conducted and the ballot's dollar figure will be released in the coming weeks. By the numbers: Raising sales tax by half a cent comes out to 25 cents for every $50 a person spends. O'Connell's administration estimates it would cost most Nashvillians about $70 per year.
He touted the fact that 60% of Davidson County sales tax collections come from non-residents — either tourists or business people who commute to work here. The intrigue: Prior to O'Connell's speech on Friday, an immigrant rights advocate, a union leader, a transit activist, a North Nashville resident and a college educator spoke in favor of the plan, foreshadowing the political coalition he hopes will make the referendum a success.
O'Connell's transition team suggested the measure go on the ballot in an election year when turnout, especially among Democrats, is the highest. Yes, but: Just six years ago, voters demonstratively rejected a transportation improvement plan. Even so, armed with new polling, O'Connell's team begins this referendum effort with tremendous optimism.
O'Connell says his plan comes with significantly more community input and with more immediate impact on residents than the 2018 proposal. The bottom line: In a preview of his sales pitch, O'Connell said that for the cost of putting an extra quarter in the jar with each visit to Target or Kroger, residents will get "easier access to a school, park, library, grocery store, small business" and more mass transit.
"I think being able to demonstrate the clear benefit is going to make the cost palatable," he says. What's next: The state comptroller, Metro Council and Davidson County Election Commission must sign off on elements of the plan before it is officially on the ballot.

2024.05.19 13:11 BeginningResearcher Buds2 pro and Buds pro ANC

I found two things: 1) the ANC on buds pro depends on the fit a lot more than buds2 pro. Although the sounds are no difference, tighter fit dose give better ANC on buds pro; 2) buds pro seem to cancel only "regular" noise, for example, on bus and metro, I feel the ANC works better than on the street. It also did a good job filtering out the sounds from a fan.
Do you also feel so?
