2024.05.19 16:36 ajdsullivan Worth upgrading?

Hi all
Is this PC worth upgrading? It's main function outside of normal net surfing will be running Ableton (music software). It currently runs, but we get a lot of lag and CPU load spikes. Some gaming would be a nice bonus. Is the motherboard good enough to upgrade CPU and GFX? Or should we be looking to just change the whole PC? Thanks in advance for any help.

Suddenly someone wants to speak to me about their issues with zeronarcissists right when this 8 post fit and ban is written, and right when I mention a coworker who literally threw a fit about me being promoted over them. Couldn't even look me in the eyes in an underpaid Mathnasium. The same person has been trying to talk to me directly and through proxies and trying to avoid detection on different accounts. Involved in physics. Extremely mentally ill person, may be involved with someone I know from U of A. I have NO INTEREST in physics. Beyond bizarre. Just complete insanity.

2024.05.19 02:18 Sashcracker Stop the political frame-up of Ukrainian socialist Bogdan Syrotiuk!

By David North
On April 25, 2024, Bogdan Syrotiuk, the 25-year-old leader of the Young Guard of Bolshevik-Leninists (the YGBL), a socialist-Trotskyist organization active in Ukraine, Russia and throughout the former USSR, was arrested by the notorious state security service of the fascistic Zelensky regime, the SBU. Bogdan is being held in atrocious conditions in a high security prison in the city of Nikolaev (Mykolaiv), which is located in southern Ukraine.
The International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI), the world Trotskyist movement with which the YGBL is politically affiliated, has finally obtained the actual documents in which the SBU presents its charges against Bogdan Syrotiuk. These documents, which form the basis of his detention, make absolutely clear that Bogdan is the victim of a monstrous state frame-up. The allegations concocted by the SBU are a crude combination of lies, obvious fabrications, and political absurdities.
Moreover, the documents submitted by the SBU are directed not only against Bogdan. They are nothing less than a declaration of war against all left-wing and socialist opposition to the Zelensky regime and, specifically, the International Committee of the Fourth International and its public organ, the World Socialist Web Site.
The central allegation leveled against Bogdan Syrotiuk is that he is guilty of high treason. The basis of this charge is that Bogdan has been for the past two years “engaged in the preparation of publications commissioned by representatives of a Russian propaganda and information agency, the World Socialist Web Site” [emphasis added.]
The World Socialist Web Site is denounced as an instrument of “an active information war against Ukraine” being waged by Russia, which
uses the so-called “left-wing” propagandists and their information platforms (websites, media and social platforms) to discredit the support of Ukraine by international partners, justify Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, accusing Western countries of creating conditions under which Russia was forced to launch the so-called special military operation, fomenting wars in Ukraine by providing it with weapons, etc. As a result, they are used by Russia to systematically convey pro-Kremlin narratives to the population of Ukraine and Ukraine’s allied countries…
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the World Socialist Web Site “WSWS” has regularly published articles in various languages aimed at discrediting Ukraine and representatives of governments around the world for assisting Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor state.
The ICFI’s opposition to the US-NATO war in Ukraine is an essential element of its political program, deeply rooted in the socialist and internationalist principles of the Trotskyist movement. The attempt of the Ukrainian regime to portray this opposition as an instrument of Putin’s propaganda network is as viciously mendacious as it is politically absurd. The intransigent opposition of the International Committee of the Fourth International to the Putin regime—which emerged as a consequence of the Stalinist bureaucracy’s final betrayal of socialism and the restoration of capitalism in the former USSR—is a fundamental political fact that is substantiated not only in written texts numbering in the hundreds, but also in the exhaustively documented activity of the Trotskyist movement spanning decades.
True to its fascist character, the Ukrainian regime is operating on the basis of the well-known precept of Hitler and his propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels: “The bigger the lie, the more readily it will be believed.”
In this particular case, the Zelensky regime seems to believe that the scale of the SBU lies are of such a magnitude that they will simply overwhelm the thinking public. It thus expects that public opinion will accept that the Putin regime is directing the work of the WSWS, which the SBU indictment describes as
an online publication of the world Trotskyist movement, the International Committee of the Fourth International and its affiliated sections in the Socialist Equality Parties around the world, which covers the main socio-political problems around the world from the position of revolutionary opposition to the capitalist market system, with the aim of establishing world socialism through socialist revolution.
At no point does the SBU attempt to explain the contradiction that wrecks its case against Bogdan, i.e., that the political principles that he upholds as a socialist and internationalist opponent of wars waged by the capitalist ruling class are irreconcilably hostile to the policies of the Putin regime, including its invasion of Ukraine.
It attempts to evade the contradiction by simply lying. The indictment claims that Bogdan’s activities, “acting on the instructions of a representative of the World Socialist Web Site,” consisted of “supporting and justifying the conduct of the Russian aggressive war on the territory of Ukraine…”
Every word is a lie. The opposition of the ICFI, its affiliated organizations, and the WSWS to the Russian invasion, in line with its hostility to the Putin regime, is a political fact that is documented in hundreds of articles that have been posted since the first day of the invasion.
On February 24, 2022, the day of the Russian invasion, the ICFI posted a statement on the WSWS titled: “Oppose the Putin government’s invasion of Ukraine and US-NATO warmongering! For the unity of Russian and Ukrainian workers!” It began:
The International Committee of the Fourth International and the World Socialist Web Site denounce the Russian military intervention in Ukraine. Despite the provocations and threats by the US and NATO powers, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine must be opposed by socialists and class-conscious workers. The catastrophe that was set in motion by the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 cannot be averted on the basis of Russian nationalism, a thoroughly reactionary ideology that serves the interests of the capitalist ruling class represented by Vladimir Putin.
What is required is not a return to the pre-1917 foreign policy of tsarism, but, rather, a revival, in Russia and throughout the world, of the socialist internationalism that inspired the October Revolution of 1917 and led to the creation of the Soviet Union as a workers state. The invasion of Ukraine, whatever the justifications given by the Putin regime, will serve only to divide the Russian and Ukrainian working class and, moreover, serve the interests of US and European imperialism.
In the two major statements that he has made during the past week, Putin has justified his actions by enumerating the provocations and crimes of the United States. There is, no question, much that is factually true in his denunciation of Washington’s hypocrisy. But the viciously anti-communist and xenophobic ideology that he invokes and the interests that he claims to be defending are thoroughly reactionary and incapable of appealing to the broad mass of the working class in Russia, let alone in Ukraine and throughout the world. A substantial section of the working class in Russia and Ukraine will be repelled by the cynicism of Putin’s glorification of the heroic struggle waged by the Soviet Union against Nazi Germany in World War II while denouncing the October Revolution and the existence of the USSR as a multi-national state.
The ICFI insisted that the socialist opposition to imperialism was incompatible with any form of national chauvinism, and, therefore, rejected all the justifications given by the Putin regime and its apologists for the invasion. Their invocation of “national defense” could not be accepted by socialists. The defeat of imperialism and its overthrow was possible only through the revolutionary struggle of the international working class. The ICFI statement cited the words of Trotsky: “Not to bind itself to the national state in time of war, to follow not the war map but the map of the class struggle, is possible only for that party that has already declared irreconcilable war on the national state in time of peace.”
The ICFI called “for an immediate end to the war,” and explained: “In opposing the invasion of Ukraine, we denounce the policies of US/NATO imperialism, whose claims to be defending democracy and human rights are blood-drenched with hypocrisy.”
This political declaration elaborated the principles and policy that have guided the work of the ICFI and WSWS since the war began.
On February 26, 2022 the International Committee held an international webinar, in which its opposition to the war was emphatically advanced. Among the speakers, in addition to myself, were Nick Beams, a longtime leader of the International Committee’s Australian section, Johannes Stern, a leader of the ICFI in Germany, Thomas Scripps, a leading member of the ICFI’s section in Britain, Joseph Kishore, the national secretary of the Socialist Equality Party in the United States, and Evan Blake, another leading member of the SEP (US).
The ICFI has never wavered from the principled opposition to the policies of NATO and Russia that it advanced in the first days of the war.
The relationship between the ICFI and the comrades of the YGBL coincided almost exactly with the outbreak of the war. They were attracted to the ICFI precisely because of its opposition to both the war and the national chauvinism of the Russian and Ukrainian regimes.
The SBU indictment charges that the World Socialist Web Site assigned to Bogdan “the task of preparing, writing, editing and publishing … both on the WSWS website and other communist-oriented media, articles, publications, comments, etc. aimed at spreading pro-Russian narratives related to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022, to which [Bogdan Syrotiuk] gave his voluntary consent.”
In support of this claim, the SBU references a YGBL statement titled, “For the organization of an international movement of workers and young people against war!” It claims that this document, posted on the World Socialist Web Site on October 12, 2022, includes “fragments, statements, sentences and phrases… which contain justification of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, which began in 2014…”
The actual document clearly exposes this claim to be a lie. There is not a single sentence in the YGBL declaration that indicates support for the invasion of Ukraine. The SBU cites selectively from the document, including passages only from numbered paragraphs 4, 7, 8, 10 and 13. Paragraphs 4 through 8—the SBU interrupts the continuity of the YGBL’s analysis by leaving out paragraphs 5 and 6—provide a concise Marxist explanation of the objective capitalist crisis and political aims that underlay the instigation of the war by the United States and its NATO allies. They state:
  1. The new world order that the United States wants to establish looks like this very possible picture: Russia and China are to be subordinated to imperialism and divided, if that is necessary to maintain direct control over their natural, industrial-technological and human resources.
  2. The European imperialist powers support the United States for their own place in the new redivision of the world. At the same time, European imperialism, while placed on rations by the United States, sees a way out of its economic and geopolitical predicament only in a redivision of the world in which it can regain its former greatness.
  3. Japan, South Korea and Australia support the US only as much as it suits their interests in the struggle against China in the Pacific region. These countries will support the US as long as it allows them to compete with China. The process of dividing spheres of influence will revive the contradictions between the Pacific capitalist powers, which are as much in limbo as Europe.
  4. The crisis of 2008 revived class struggles around the world. The Arab Spring of the early 2010s is vivid evidence of this revival. It forced US and European imperialism to take more decisive measures. In 2014, they supported a coup d'état in Ukraine. Through this coup, the US was able to create all the conditions to build a bridgehead in a future war against Russia.
  5. The Covid-19 pandemic that erupted in 2020 exacerbated the contradictions of capitalism and was the trigger for a more rapid expansion of US imperialism in preparation for war against Russia and China. The US embarked on a more provocative path of abandoning the “one-China” policy, and increasing its support for Ukraine, as expressed in the NATO summit in August 2021, which supported Zelensky’s “Crimean platform.”
Significantly, the SBU leaves out paragraph 9 of the YGBL declaration, which presents a scathing indictment of the Putin regime. That paragraph reads:
The reactionary regime of Vladimir Putin emerged from the treacherous dissolution of the Soviet Union by the Stalinist bureaucracy and the restoration of capitalism. The policies of Putin, in the final analysis, are aimed at safeguarding the wealth of the post-Soviet oligarchy against the pressure of Western imperialism from above and, even more critically, against the movement of the Russian working class from below.
The SBU does cite paragraph 10, which continues the critique of the Putin regime, stating:
Within this geopolitical and social context, Putin’s adventurist invasion of Ukraine on February 24 was the Russian oligarchy’s response to NATO’s relentless expansion to the east. The Putin regime’s main objective was to achieve through the pressure of its “Special Operation” a new round of talks with the US-NATO, since the last round ended up crossing “red lines” on the part of the US-NATO, which caused Putin’s invasion [emphasis added].
The characterization of Putin’s invasion as “adventurist” is in no way compatible with what the SBU claims to be a “pro-Russian narrative.” Obviously recognizing the fragility of its attempt to portray the YGBL statement as pro-Putin propaganda, the SBU decided against further citations from the document, leaving out the YGBL’s development of its denunciation of Putin’s policies in paragraphs 11 and 12, which assert:
  1. The Russian bourgeoisie’s desire for an “equal partnership” with the West was one of the most utopian delusions. This delusion, historically derived from Stalin’s policy of “Popular Fronts” and then “peaceful coexistence,” developed among the fledgling class of Russian capitalists in the 1990s.
  2. The Putin regime has not gotten rid of this utopian delusion. Its whole policy has been to maneuver and seek compromise with the West, with whom the Russian oligarchy wanted to be “on equal footing.” Except that Western imperialism, with its conquering ambitions for Russia, did not care about these conciliatory tones of Putin’s regime.
The SBU also chose not to cite paragraph 17 of the YGBL statement, which declares:
The course of the war after Putin’s invasion of Ukraine increasingly emphasizes the reactionary nature of this invasion. While claiming to be fighting for the independence of the Russian people from the threat of Western imperialism, Putin is in fact only defending the independence of the Russian oligarchy to exploit the Russian working class and the country’s raw material wealth.
Paragraph 18, which is also left uncited, further demolishes the SBU’s indictment of Bogdan, the YGBL and the WSWS as instruments of Russian propaganda. The paragraph asserts that
the Putin regime has no way out of the current crisis for Russian society. It will not have such a way out in the future. All of the military and political activities of the Putin regime will only contribute to the escalation of Western imperialism and the deterioration of conditions for the Russian, Ukrainian and international working class.
The SBU also failed to cite paragraphs 19 and 20, which presciently warned of the catastrophe to which the war could lead.
  1. The prospects for the present war, when thought within the framework of the capitalist system, are very bleak. First, this war will take on a long-term character and will not only be fought between Ukraine and Russia. It is the first step in inflaming the world situation to the point that the threat of a third world war is simply inevitable. All countries of the world will take part in the future war.
  2. Secondly, the nature of the war will be determined by the policies of the ruling classes, which now stand on a blatantly anti-human position. The ruling classes are recklessly moving toward the use of nuclear weapons in the conflict, thereby creating the real possibility of a nuclear Armageddon. The specter of planetary destruction arises from the insane policies of imperialist and capitalist governments. The recklessness of the ruling capitalist elite compels young people to ask whether they will be allowed any future at all.
The SBU specifically cites this document as proof of Bogdan Syrotiuk’s treasonable activity. But the text of this document conclusively refutes the charge that Bogdan and the YGBL are advancing a pro-Putin narrative.
Moreover, and most decisive, the Ukrainian regime does not present a scintilla of evidence to substantiate its absurd and lying claim that the World Socialist Web Site is a “Russian propaganda and information agency.” With this filthy slander, the Zelensky regime betrays—notwithstanding the ongoing war with Russia—the lingering influence of Stalinism’s rabid hatred of Trotskyism. As in Russia, the transfer of power in Ukraine from Stalinist bureaucrats to capitalist oligarchs has not required any change in the methodology of the political police. The same techniques of fabrication and slander, utilized by the Stalinist regime against Trotskyists in the era of the Moscow Trials and the terror of 1936-39, remain operative in Kiev.
Bogdan Syrotiuk stands accused of treason and faces the threat of a life-long prison term that is the equivalent of a death sentence. But the allegations against Bogdan are based entirely on articles and speeches he has posted on the World Socialist Web Site, in which he has declared his opposition, as a socialist internationalist, to the capitalist regimes of Zelensky and Putin and the ongoing war that has cost hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian and Russian lives.
The SBU indicts Bogdan for advancing in his speeches and writings posted on the World Socialist Web Site “which are accessible to everyone in the world, including citizens of Ukraine” information that exposes the reactionary character of the Ukrainian regime and the war.
The SBU declares that Bogdan’s “criminal actions were stopped only with the intervention of a law enforcement agency.” What a devastating self-exposure of the claims that the US-NATO proxy war is being waged to defend democracy in Ukraine.
The reality is that Ukraine is a fascistic dictatorship, which applies police methods to stop the expression of popular opposition to the policies that have brought untold suffering and death to the people.
The arrest of Bogdan Syrotiuk comes precisely at a point of mounting popular opposition to the Zelensky regime. On May 18, a new and vastly unpopular mobilization law that will vastly expand the recruitment dragnet of Ukrainian military goes into effect. Even the New York Times has expressed doubts about Zelensky’s ability “to find new troops to relieve a weary, often demoralized force.”
In an article posted on the World Socialist Web Site on April 30, Maxim Goldarb, a Ukrainian socialist who has been persecuted by the Zelensky regime, reported: “More and more Ukrainian men are desperately trying to flee the country, unwilling to die for someone else’s selfish purposes.”
He added:
It is not the rich minority, but the poor majority—the unemployed, workers, peasants, teachers, doctors, office workers—that will be sent into the bloody meat grinder. Now, with the adoption of the new law, the number of men deprived of basic human rights, who will be captured and hunted down like animals and sent to the front, will increase many times over.
The profits of those who benefit from this war will also increase many times over … These huge profits will be divided up between the military-industrial complex, its lobbyists in the American and European establishment, and the Ukrainian oligarchic top brass.
Bogdan Syrotiuk’s life is in danger. In the environment of terror that exists within Ukraine, he is deprived of all means to defend himself. Efforts to obtain competent legal representation have been undermined by government threats against defense lawyers. No less than five attorneys have declined to represent Bogdan because to do so would expose them to significant physical danger.
The significance of the fight to defend Bogdan and secure his freedom extends beyond Ukraine. His incarceration is yet another example of the growing international assault on democratic rights as imperialism escalates its military operations throughout the world. The political conspiracy to destroy Julian Assange set into motion a process that is replicated throughout the world.
Those who oppose and expose the crimes of the imperialist regimes are targeted for persecution by the state. The assault on basic democratic rights—first and foremost, freedom of thought and speech—is always justified on the basis of lies.
The opponents of Israel’s genocidal war against Gazans are denounced as anti-Semites, even when the protesters are Jewish. In the denunciation of Bogdan Syrotiuk as an agent of Russia for opposing the proxy war in Ukraine, the same lying method is at work.
The real reason for the arrest and persecution of Bogdan Syrotiuk is that he is fighting for the unity of the Ukrainian, Russian and international working class against the ruling capitalist elites of all countries. As Comrade Andrei Ritsky of the Russian branch of the Young Guard of Bolshevik Leninists explained so eloquently in a speech delivered at the May Day 2024 celebration held by the International Committee:
The only “crime” that Bogdan committed was his conviction that Ukraine can become truly free only through the independent struggle of the Ukrainian working class, acting together with the international working class against imperialism and war. He advanced a principled political position based on a Marxist understanding of the war, opposed to the fanatical worship of Ukrainian nationalism as well as the reactionary Russian nationalism of the Putin regime. Like our entire movement, he has fought for the unification of workers in Russia and Ukraine with the workers in the imperialist countries, to put an end to a fratricidal war that has claimed the lives of at least half a million Ukrainians and tens of thousands of Russians.
He concluded his remarks with a declaration of the fundamental perspective that underlies the work of the Fourth International:
No bourgeois regime is capable of resolving the crisis other than through war and destruction, because any other way would be contrary to its fundamental capitalist interests. The contradictions of capitalism cannot be resolved within national borders and on the basis of a defense of private property. Only the international working class armed with the program of world socialist revolution will be able to put an end to the wars and resolve the fundamental crisis. To do so, however, it must fight for its unity with its brothers and sisters around the world.
The International Committee of the Fourth International calls for a global campaign to demand the immediate release of Bogdan Syrotiuk from prison. The fight for Bogdan’s freedom must be taken up by workers, students and all those who are committed to the defense of democratic rights and opposed to the escalation of imperialist wars that, unless stopped, threaten humanity with a nuclear catastrophe.
Join the fight to Free Bogdan. Circulate this statement as widely as possible on social media. Bring this case to the attention of co-workers, fellow students, and friends. 2024.05.18 06:58 richierich6821 AITA for asking my girlfriend for an explanation about her choice of a particular member of her FB friends?

We have been in a serious LDR for a couple of years and I have booked an Aug. flight to go visit my gf in the Philippines. We consider and understand our relationship to be monogamous. We are old school (in our 50’s). However, I discovered her previous American boyfriend was friends listed on a couple of her four or five Facebook profiles. I casually brought it to light during one of our at least daily conversations. She insisted he blocked her during the end of their relationship and that she didn’t realize that he ‘may have suddenly unblocked her’ She then proceeded to gaslight me and insisted I am overreacting. We always strived to be transparent and better at communicating so it was natural for me to inquire about this ‘small matter’.

2024.05.18 04:23 ElectricalMastodon99 Blatantly Obvious Israel Knew and Wanted Hamas to Attack on 10/7 so they Could Justify this Genocide

Over these past 7 months, we have witnessed some of the worst atrocities of the 21st century committed by the IDF. 45,000+ killed, 77,000+ injured, 2 million people effectively homeless, and 60%+ of all the buildings in gaza damaged/destroyed. We have seen IDF shoot civilians raising white flags, bomb places they instruct civilians to go, block the aid causing mass starvation in gaza, imprison children and civilians and send them to torture camps, use AI to bomb hamas fighters when they get home so they can kill their families too, they aren't even targetting hamas anymore in their bombings but rather civilians, and a lot lot more. What has been made clear now is that this isn't really about Hamas, as they have shown time and time again to be intentionally brining harm to the civilian population.
Their constant justification for all these atrocities is the october 7th attack. however since day 1, it was always suspicous as to how israel could've let hamas in so easilly and why they took so long to surpress them. Isreal is one of the most surveilled and secure countries in the world, it really makes no sense how one can just paraglide into a place that is so secure, and easilly land. In the time since October 7th, a plethora of information has come out that brings even more cause for suspicious on isreal's part for their supposed "big security failure" that I will be going over.
I want to start by mentioning this stunt by Netanyahu a few weeks before 10/7 at the UN.
a popular talking point from the pro isrealis is how the "river to the sea" chant is genocidal. well if that is true, doesn't that mean isreal's democratically elected leader also issued a statement of genocide before 10/7 even happened? I am not seeing Palestine on that map at all. Doesn't look like palestine's existance is a part of bibi's plan at all. I also see Gaza as part of isreal, by the looks of things, he wants that strip of land too.
to start, research has shown that there was rise in short selling of isreali stocks on the New York and Tel Aviv Stock exchanges in the week prior to 10/7. these investors were said to have made millions betting against isreali stocks.
https://www.peoplesworld.org/article/someone-knew-stock-traders-made-millions-short-selling-before-oct-7th-hamas-attacks/
https://www.economist.com/finance-and-economics/2023/12/05/did-hamas-make-millions-trading-the-october-7th-attacks
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/israel-hamas-attack-stocks-short-selling-october-7-study/
So someone had to be in the know. you might say it was hamas who did the short selling, but since all of hamas are designated terrorists in the eyes of the US, all their assets in the US will be frozen making it almost impossible to invest in the stock market. What is more likely is that some higher up/rich/elite americans and isrealis knew what was going down and wanted to make a quick buck.
Furthermore, new york times reported that isreal had the exact plans to 10/7a year in advance. It was an indepth, 40 page report on what hamas was going to do (and they did it exactly on 10/7). one of the officials they interviewed said it was "inspirational," but considering the rest of the evidence i gave, this is likely just him bluffing
The article also delves into how isreal knew hamas was preparing for the attack. additionally, in this BBC report, the women tasked with reporting any suspicious activity in gaza. When they did so they were "ignored" by the higher ups. hamas were clearly and visibly rehearsing hostage taking, raiding, and detonating the gaza fence. The main comeback I get from pro isreal people when I tell them that isreal knew about 10/7, is something like "isreal always get warnings of an attack". However I highly doubt the things mentioned in the BBC report are common occurences.
What's more is that Hamas literally were posting their rehersals on their telegram. They literally made zero effort in hiding what they were planning on doing. What I also find funny is that isreal wasn't able to notice when they post on telegram for these rehearsals, but when they post on telegram about their killings on 10/7, they immediately take notice to that, and already have everything up on "hamas.com" by the end of the day. just strange.
Moreover, isreal literallyconfiscated weapons from towns by the gaza border and significantly weakened their security. What other excuse could possibly be plausible for this besides wanting hamas to have an easier time taking over these places? "The Israeli army believed that the chance of terrorist incursion after the erection of the border fence was 'close to nil.'". funny...
Isreal also reportedly had information that the festival would be under attack but they chose not to relay this to the festival organizers or to evacuate it at all.
Now this is a good read from Times of Israel. Apparently, IDF and Shin Bet were well aware Hamas were planning a big attack for over a year and even had a presentation about it, and even said “This invasion constitutes the gravest threat that IDF forces are facing in the defense [of Israel].”. I also hear pro isreal ppl tell me that isreal didn't think hamas were capable of 10/7, well this presentaion mentioned would refute that point.
Furthermore, on October 6th and early 7th, they were detecting hamas activity and there was evidence to suggest an assault was imminent. Yet they did nothing and only took more secuirty away from gaza.
At midnight on October 7th, 6 hours before the attack even started, IDF detected numerous Hamas fighters active israeli SIMs. While this by itself may not be as suspicous, when you corroborate it with everything else, it should be easilly apparent to isreali intel what is about to happen
In the hour leading up to the attack, israel detected lots of unusual hamas activity, but didn't even put any of the troops by the gaza wall on alert, not even level one. This is especially odd since this deviates from normal military protocol. as a result, the hamas soldiers stormed all 12 idf bases by the border. the footage shows them storming empty looking bases and shooting idf soliders in their beds (they weren't even woken up??). and most of the tanks weren't even being operated. hamas was expecting to lose 80% of thier attack force taking these bases, but ended up losing barely anyone.
This new york times report is also interesting. In it, it further reiterates that isreali intel was picking up plenty of hamas activity in the hours before the attack even started. And that while it took 8+ hours for any of the civillians to receive any help by the IDF. This in it of itself is extremely suspicious, but even more so when you add the fact that the IDF literally tweeted militants had broken in just an hour into the attack. What is also interesting is that it took only 4 hours to send jets to bomb Gaza, yet they couldn't spare any apaches to help their own ppl in that same time? I also find it suspicious how "Israeli officials declined to answer questions about the timing of their response to the attacks."
I suppose after all this you are going to tell me something along the lines of "IDF just underestimated Hamas". But with all these intel reports they were getting, I just find that to be a little far fetched. But just watchthis video on the gaza fence. $1 billion dollars into this wall covered in state of the art cameras, sensors, and turrets, but it wasn't enough to stop a paraglider? Now do you understand where I am coming from?
If you are still not conviced, isreal were literally the ones who helped started hamas, and netanyahu openly admitted to propping them up, and isreal literally funded hamas too. its apparent that hamas was a sort of proxy for isreal, to justify their attacks onto gaza.
It was just the opportunity Israel was waiting so they could have an excuse to the world for their horrific genocide of gaza that has already killed more than 2% of all their people. They made up all these lies about beheaded babies, babies in ovens, and babies ripped out of wombs (seriously what is it with them and babies) and the western media ate it all up. They pulled out in 2005, because they thought protecting those 9,000 illegal settlers was more trouble than it was worth, and they preferred controlling gaza from the outside, but now they plan to drive the gazan population out, so they can harvest tha gas, create the canal, and build new settlements with even more settlers. already they are establishing a permanent base with reason to believe they will bring civilians there to resettle as well
Anyway, saying this was all a big "security failure" just seems far fetched to me considering their vast resources and the reports I cited in this post. But is something that isreali general Amos Yadlin said in 2007,
“Israel would be happy if Hamas took over Gaza because the IDF could then deal with Gaza as a hostile state.”
October 7th allowed them to do just that: treat gaza as a hostile state
I will conclude this post by quoting Douglas Murray, who is ironically a staunch pro isreal supporter: "Simply claiming something is a conspiracy theory, doesn't necessarily make it false. Not anymore"

2024.05.17 21:04 BosnianSerb31 The tariffs against Chinese EVs aren't just a US thing for protecting the big three and appealing to the US auto lobby. The EU is considering them as well, following the news that Chinese vehicles have surged to 25% of new car sales in less than a year.

And it's not just the US automotive industry at risk, nor the US government imposing tariffs. The whole of the EU is considering 25% tariffs as well to make European vehicles cost-competitive with Chinese vehicles, following the recent news that 25% of vehicles sold in the EU are now Chinese, threatening the collapse of the European auto market as well.
To be able to compete with Chinese manufacturing and vehicle subsides, the cost of your average European/American electric sedan would need to be lowered by nearly 50%. Brand new $30k Chinese sedans are spec'd out like $60k Western luxury cars with features such as heated and cooled leather seats. Competing with that takes time and an enormous amount of investment into vertically integrating your automotive industry, for everything from steel to electronics and so on.
And while I believe that investment should absolutely be happening (and should have happened a decade ago), with the current growth trends of Chinese vehicles in Western markets, it would be near impossible to become cost-competitive before China has total control over the Western transportation market.
So you can either accept that the West will be unable to prevent dependence on China for transportation, leading to the fall of Taiwan uncontested, or you can attempt to buy yourself time to catch up by imposing tariffs.
Either way it's bleak, but I'm still quite disappointed in the bad-faith condemnations being thrown at the Biden admin such as "this is all the fault of the American automotive lobby", while the EU considers this course of action as well.
As for why Biden threatened Mexico if they decide to act as a proxy for Chinese vehicles, the reason is plainly obvious. The final assembly of the vehicle happening in Mexico does absolutely nothing to solve the problem that it would still be a Chinese EV made with Chinese subassemblies sold at a heavily subsidized price that neither the US nor EU can compete with.
So when a war breaks out over Tiawan at a period in time when the Big Three have collapsed, all China has to do is threaten to sanction Mexico if they supply the US with Chinese EVs.

2024.05.17 09:13 khalisdar Is it the end of the USA?

During Putin's visit to China, Putin was greeted with a grand and respectful welcome, highlighting the strongest diplomatic ties between Russia and China.
On the other hand, the USA is burdened with over $34 trillion. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that interest payments will total $870 billion in fiscal year 2024 and rise rapidly throughout the next decade—climbing from $951 billion in 2025 to $1.6 trillion. In the next decade, net interest payments will be over $12.4 trillion.
If I speak, the majority of typical Americans express their anger towards me and utilize offensive language. This is what I perceive as an authentic representation of American culture. The majority of American lack knowledge, exhibit ignorance, harbor hatred, lack respect, lack curiosity, and struggle to differentiate between right and wrong but are strongly opinionated. In essence, most American citizens prioritize their own desires, disregarding fundamental principles of civility and consciousness. To them, engaging in warfare equates to amusement and a stronger economy.
Following the Second World War, the United States experienced economic prosperity, leading to its emergence as an economic powerhouse. For that reason, most American believe warfare symbolizes power and pride. In contrast, throughout the Dark Ages, Europeans engaged in internal conflicts and launched three Crusades against Muslims, resulting in bloodbaths and destruction, not an economic powerhouse. The Europeans we witness today are a consequence of the deceptive foreign policies implemented by East India Companies in the name of trade rather than warfare. Similarly, the United States we observe today is a product of the "Good Faith financial product and trade currency Dollar," represented by the IMF and World Bank, rather than warfare. Warfare signifies destruction and permission to commit acts of violence and sexual assault.
During the Cold War, all US presidents made great efforts to avoid direct war with the Soviet Union. The rivalry between the Soviet Union and the USA began in the early 1919s, with communism reaching its peak. Both nations engaged in proxy wars using puppets rather than directly confronting each other, as the consequences would have been devastating. After the Cold War, the USA lacked a clear foreign policy, leading to uncertain world relations. The influence of foreign intelligence and lobbyists on the US media can make it challenging to grasp the political landscape. There are concerns that the media shapes the image of US politicians and influences policy decisions and public opinion. Additionally, there are allegations that the media promotes certain candidates and perpetuates false narratives.
As of today, in the first quarter, China sold a significant amount of Treasury and US agency bonds, indicating the country's strategy to diversify its assets away from American holdings amidst ongoing trade tensions.
My prediction was the USA would crash in 2032.

2024.05.16 21:46 GODZBALL Thoughts on Series up to current light novel

There isn't a lot of spoilers but there is some but barely any legit spoilers passed the special exam post desert island arc.
Hey!
Finished reading up to the current Volume of the LN and wanted to share my thoughts on the series as a whole and where I think it may go from here.
I became aware of this season when season 1 first aired through social media and decided to watch the show up until the end of the first season. After it ended, I had to know more and so I looked and found out about the light novel. I was hooked ever since.
My thoughts on the first year were pretty good because the mystery of the school, the students and the MC kept me interested and it was very refreshing having a main character not allow himself to be bullied by his friends or act like a stereotypical virgin whenever a women would talk to him.
I found the beginning to do a very good job of keeping people on their toes as even though this is based in Highschool and has a battle royale based premise, it uses different games then your typical battle royal clone and allows you to basically view how it’s played through the eyes of the protag Kiyo.
Another thing that makes Kiyo interesting is that while he does boast internally that he knows everything on a level that would surpass some of the smartest college students in Japan, he does not immediately flaunt or trivialize the games to the point where there isn't any tension with each game.
Another thing I enjoy is that though it’s a team-based Battle royale, the fact that you get to know the leader of each team and they slowly grow to know Kiyo makes it interesting and sets up potential conflicts of interest before the first year is even halfway over. Personally, I like all of the other class leaders a good bit. I enjoy Ryuuen especially because he still remains true to his nature, but he takes advice from the person who beat him using just as morally questionable tactics as him and works to fine tune those morally questionable tactics so that he doesn't get beat because he is sloppy on his approach. I enjoy Ichinose battle with her "horrible" shop lifting past as much as an American can sympathize on something most over here would consider very minor in terms of criminality. While I can't obviously say it's just fine, I also feel at times it's overblown but again I'm American and at some point, we've all pocketed a pack of gum or added an extra item to our shopping cart we didn't ring up. She is a genuinely good person which is enjoyable when the other people portrayed as rivals are just as likely to stab you in the front as well as they would in the back. While the main goal is to graduate from Class A because somehow everything you ever need in life will somehow be given to you, the thought of making sure everyone makes it to the finish line is a good goal on its own knowing how easy it is for people to be expelled. I Don't mind Arisu but truthfully up until the most recent chapters, she was honestly hard to relate to even more than Kiyo because every time she's on screen she always has a smug grin as if everything is already taken care of and no matter what, she will come out on top. while its charismatic it can kinda drive off any sense of connection. I'm happy she starts getting humbled later on, but it takes a long time.
The series threw me for a loop when they focused heavily on Horikita in the beginning only to seemingly drop her to a side character for the rest of the arc until Kiyo dealt with Ryuuen. It honestly felt like she wasn't that important anymore, so I was pleasantly surprised how she slowly made her way back into the sub-protag role throughout the rest of the 2nd year. I don't really like Horikita compared to most of the other characters, but it speaks more highly to the other characters than anything wrong with her. My reasons for disliking her a little more than the other characters maybe stem from the fact we see more of her than anyone else and could have changed if she was more of a side character than one of the main focuses of the series. I do think that she gradually gets better as a character or more dynamic would be the better way to phrase it, I still think she is very flawed or at least she is written flawed, but the story seems to make things conveniently workout in her favor whenever she desperately needs it. I will say that I find that some of my favorite characters are legitimately side characters some of which have just recently showed up or showed up and went away for a long period of time after. Case in point Tsubaki from class 1-c she is basically kiyotaka but not overpowered like he is. We get a lot of Nanase in the beginning of the second-year arc but basically after the deserted Island exam she barely shows up anymore her split personality also just goes away. Kiryuuin Is also one of my favorites and she is sparingly gets in the story but when she does, she is very interesting and I'm sad that in a few more books she'll probably complete disappear from the story. I was never high on some characters like Kei, Nagumo, Matsushita ( mostly because why isn't she revealing this secret hidden talent that she said she had in the first year) and Manabu. I know Manabu might be a hot take, but I personally feel like his whole schtick about not telling Horkitia that he does love her but wants her to do her own thing for an entire year was so stupid because he just needed to call her to the student council office and literally have the conversation at ANY point in the year why wait till the end. I'm glad that he gives Kiyo a goal or maybe project he wants to complete before he meets Monabu again but other than that he was a blander Kiyotaka.
On that note a few things that have bothered me as the story has gone on,
  1. I’m not going to say anything even though I could because then people would look at me weird. And we can’t have that?
  2. I won't reveal where you came from even though it would be the most detrimental thing, I could do to you whether people believe it or not, but I won't because I never intended to use it as a tactic no matter what. why not?
  3. You betrayed us and kicked our friend out of the school so I'm going to dropout so we lose but I will wait for a week or so to do it because I wanted to see the festival first. huh? Why wait for something stupid like that? You're already planning on Jeopardizing your whole class but decide to wait because of a festival that theoretically doesn't matter anymore. Not only that but the fact that you don't leak what happened that caused the friend to be expelled while you waited to expel yourself, further causing an issue for them when you are gone, just doesn't make any sense at all.
  4. Horikita has lucked into some of the most micky mouse wins I've ever seen. Like I said before the plot sometimes seems to not make sense in a real word aspect but because the other can control how 120 kids always behave you can give bad reasons for something to work out and it always will because the plot needed it to. I really truly feel like that exam where Sakura was expelled was damn good all the way up until her best friend decided not to follow through with her plans to sink the class in retaliation. There was literally nothing anyone could have done to stop her or Kushida from sinking the class once the exam was over. I truly thought it would have been checkmate for the class and maybe you shift away from class 2-D the same way it feels like Kiyo is doing now and consider it a failed experiment. I would have LOVED it if she flunked the class even though Kiyo and Horikita did everything possible to bring them close to being class A. Actions have consequences, you expelled my friend and not the traitor and making excuses that it work out if Kushida complies from that point forward. OK fine I'll screw everyone like they screwed my good friend by dropping out willingly. Could you imagine the fallout knowing you failed even if you made the right decision in that moment. Basically, halfway through the second year 1 class has officially lost the race but just like Nagumo said, it's still possible to transfer out of a class to a different one so it doesn't mean the story ends for Kiyotaka or any of the students, but that class has lost.
  5. Koenji is literally my least liked character in the series at this point and it's strictly based off what I THINK will happen in the future. The author has done absolutely zero to give backstory to Koenji and why he is so good at everything. Zilch. At least as unreasonable as it sounds, we know why Kiyo and the other white room students are so broken. The most we know about Koenji is that he is a blonde Adonis who studied in China and for some reason just laps everyone at everything. My thoughts on this are that if and when Kiyo decides to leave the class, Horikita and by proxy (Koenji) will be the final boss.
I don't like 4 the most and 5 the second most because it starts to make you doubt any haymakers are coming that legitimately don't feel like an asspull anymore. I can't be engrossed in the story if I feel like Horikita is going to be the final boss. I can't be engrossed in the story if I know that Horikita is going to use Koenji to actually make it hard for Kiyo to win that final round. I can't feel engrossed if I have a feeling one of the leaders is about to be expelled or completely sidelined for some completely stupid reason so that we can get this obvious conclusion started. That's why I can stand those last two points I didn't see Kiyo allowing Kei to get beat up and tortured multiple times to further his goals or plots. I didn't foresee a not so random secret agent being planted in the school and immediately striking Kiyo while he's talking with Arisu the daughter of the man he just ousted. I didn't foresee Kiyo convincing one of his would be rivals to come back to the school because it would be a little boring if that class completely fell apart without him to lead it. I didn't foresee Kiyotaka making as many "friends" the way he has since the start of series and most of those relationships feel natural which is why it has been fun following Kiyo and the people he encounters.
Overall, I'm happy with this series and it has made me look for more LNs to fill in my time while we wait for more to come out.
I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on the series as a whole as well.
Tldr; I like almost everything but the things that I dislike are becoming more prevalent in the story than in the beginning.

2024.05.16 17:48 PsychologicalLie6455 Fynn, the Fangbearer destroying our pod!

Title.
We have a group of 5-6 friends and we usually play and end up 3-4 each friday.
2 of them are newer and are still getting used to MTG. Myself and the rest of the group have been playing for 2-6 years, we're somewhat competitive but our rules are pretty simple: No infinite combos, No proxies.
Outside of that our decks are pretty straight forward, we all play staples and whatnot.
I mostly play Yuriko or Edgar Markov Vampire Tribal. Most decks are pretty strong but get real momentum on turn 3+.
One of them has a relatively cheap Fynn, the Fangbearer deck.
Holy shit!
Turn 1: 1 drop 1/1 deathtouch Turn 2: Fynn drop + attack = 2 poison counters Turn 3: +1-2 additional 1/1 deathtouch drops (more if sol ring or other mana ramp because green)
By turn 4 it can get pretty devastating, had an enchantment that made creatures with low power unblockable, he could basically 1 shot anyone at that point. He also rocks proliferate so even if you lock Fynn down, he can sometimes just proliferate and kill everyone after a few turns if the game ends up being a drag.
I know most people will say just remove him or counter him, but turn 2-3 removal is often not possible. Also, if our pod happens to have 1-2 of our newer players, they dont really have time to see shit coming haha.
What would you do in this situation? Build a bit more around removal? Most games we can manage him and focus him, but with deathtouch, it almost seems like removal is the only way to go. We still love playing against it and see it as a challenge. It's funny as the deck costs pennies compared to some of our other decks lol.

2024.05.16 15:06 Wonderful-Phone-808 I'm in my first serious relationship with a white partner. Embarrassed to admit it's harder than I realized. People are also completely different when he is around.

I don't mean this to be controversial. I am a Korean American woman and used to think my friends and family were racist for only dating or marrying other Asians. I am now in my first serious relationship with a white partner. We have a tremendous amount in common and it has been a really good relationship.
That being said, there are challenges. He lived most of his life in a diverse area with Asians before moving to where we are and was frankly blind to the hostility, racism, microaggressions, etc. that are prevalent here. I've spoken to him and he is doing his best to learn and support, but sometimes it still feels very isolating. I feel unsafe going out in public where we live. If he's around, the aggressive behavior stops, but instead I just don't exist - servers will only speak to him, shopkeepers won't make eye contact, and keep addressing him like they need a proxy to talk to me, even if he redirects them to me. Sometimes people in public talk behind our backs, pointing me out as the "gold-digger Asian" or him as having "yellow fever" and taking advantage of me.
His family lives in the South and the area they live in is full of you-don't-exist-type racism. We will likely end up moving to be closer to them (my side doesn't live in the US any longer) but I am concerned how this will affect me trying to get a job or simply exist in the community. Aside from the people, it's a lovely area, but I'm already tiring fast living where I am.
He's concerned about this too so we are trying to figure out a good compromise. I think I understand why a lot of Asians stick to other Asians now. Sometimes I even think about moving to an Asian country even though my American ways would not fit in at all. I am curious how others make it work - is it just a constant battle?

Trigger warning: mention of domestic violence situation
I’m married to a woman who acts like a teenage girl – February 6th, 2024
My wife behaves like a teenage girl and I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
This is just a rant. Curious to know how many full grown adults behave the way my wife does. I’d say out of all of the adult women I know, like friends, relatives, wives of my friends, none of them behave this way unless they keep it a closely guarded secret.
Editing right here to add that my wife is in her 30s, for context.
My wife is always obsessed with somebody, a man or sometimes multiple men at one time. Usually there is one or two main focuses at a time. When I talk obsessed I mean obsessed like a teenage girl or maybe even preteen girl would be. I’ve seen pictures of her bedroom when she was that age and they were literally wallpapers in posters of her favorite guys. That’s totally normal for a 13 year old girl. She still behaves that way as a woman in her 30s. Granted, our bedroom walls aren’t wallpapered in posters but they probably would be if I allowed it.
Her obsessions have ranged from rock stars, actors, non-entertainment industry public figures. It’s like one day she hasn’t even heard of the guy in question and the next day she’s super fan #1 and knows just about everything there is to know about him. She will read and watch everything there is to watch about the man. She will bring him up in every conversation. She will adopt parts of him into her own personality. She will suggest things that make it clear to me that she wants me to adopt characteristics of these men as part of my appearance or personality. She will openly admit to me that she’s masturbated over the guy multiple times in one day.
When she finds a new man to obsess over, she puts the others in her little stable of men who she always has a place for in her heart and in her fantasies, so they never really go away. The new man just takes center stage and becomes the main focus of almost her entire life.
So the current obsession is so strange to me. Never saw this one coming, but leave it to her to always find somebody new to fall in love with. The intensity that she has during these periods - it’s honestly like she falls in love with these men.
I’m laughing so hard just typing this all. Her current obsession is Bret Hart, former pro wrestler. This woman had never watched wrestling before in her life. Always thought that stuff was below her. And now she’s obsessed with this former pro-wrestler. She watched one show about him, for reasons I’m not aware of, and I could tell almost instantly where it was headed. I thought “here we go…” So now the Bret Hart obsession is in full swing. Has she already dropped close to $1000 in vintage Bret Hart shirts on eBay? Of course. Bought all the stickers and magnets and all sorts of other stupid crap she can find? Yep. Does she send me Bret Hart YouTube clips all.day.long when she’s supposed to be working? Yes she does.
So, I better get to work brushing up on my Bret Hart knowledge and tag lines. This is the key to getting laid when it comes to her. I’m used to this by now. It’s just not something that I can easily explain to anyone I know.
I mean, there’s are things I’m a fan of, but she is next level. I can’t think of anyone I know who is her age and acts like this. She was voted most likely to grow up and become a groupie when she was in high school, so this is absolutely nothing new for her. Sigh.

Limerence is mentioned
poopchutethemoon
Yeah my bouts of limerence have been with people I’ve dated but reading that made me realize that I was very much being obsessive and it was totally all consuming. Glad it’s over honestly. Those feelings are exhausting.
Very interesting to hear you say the feelings are exhausting. It’s like a full time job for my wife, so I could see that. She told me she’s at work with her door closed pretending to be working, but she’s really watching Bret Hart videos on YouTube. She can’t even focus on her job.
OOP reveals more of the life he’s signed up for in the comments
get-bread-not-head
You've pretended to act like other men for 20 years?!
Damn dude, I hope you're finding ways to accept it and cope. That sounds rough, having to be someone else to have sex... stay strong king
Nah, I just learn their catchphrases or gain some deep fan knowledge that’ll impress her or maybe perfect a vocal impersonation of them that I can drop at the opportune time. The vocal impersonations work the best as far as making her like me and being like “ok, wanna have sex now?”
another_canoe
But what do you guys actually share *together*? That's not related to the obsession of the season? (I'm not going to even bother asking if she's tried to learn about any of your hobbies/interests).
NGL, this is all pretty grim to me, my man....and I'm someone who loves having a partner who is passionate about things and nerds out.
I fear that you've spent so long with her infatuations steamrolling over your own interests and preferences that you have convinced yourself that getting attention-by-proxy as your main source of validation from your SPOUSE is a healthy way to live.
If I told you that I was big into anime and Japanese RPGs and the only way I get interested in doing it with my actual wife is if she adopts the catch phrases /personality characteristics of my latest "waifu", would you feel some concern for my wife's mental health?
I'm also wondering about this spending....
She’s pretty dismissive of my interests and hobbies. I’ve told her I’d like her to try to pretend to show a little more interest sometimes. I make an effort to show real interest in her stuff and she does not do the same. I’m very into music and I do geek out over guitars and gear and things like that and she couldn’t tell you anything about any of the guitars I own other than “he has a blue one, he has a red one. “ We do love some of the same bands. Of course she wants to fuck the band members and I just want to talk about the chord progression on my favorite guitar tracks, but it’s close enough. We like a lot of the same movies and that sort of thing. We have the same sense of humor and can keep each other laughing for ages. We have a lot of the same views on life and on the world in general.
I don’t know, we just get each other I guess.
I would be concerned about the waifu thing, but I guess in my case she always likes guys who I think are pretty cool anyway. She has good taste, at least. If she has to be obsessing over some other guy constantly at least she does it over guys I can respect on some level.
Regarding the spending, I spend way more than she does. Only difference is it’s not usually fan merch I’m buying. But she tolerate my spending when it comes to stuff like guitar gear. She rolls her eyes and reprimands me but she tolerates it and just knows I won’t stop. I’m the same when it comes to her fan stuff. I get it, she wants the vintage 1993 Bret Hart shirt that costs hundreds…not a modern shirt that just anyone could go online and buy for $25 right now. She wants the cool, rare stuff. I’m the same with my guitars so I guess it’s like we understand each other in some way. I think it’s weird to become a fan of somebody and 2 days later drop thousands on them though. At least my money pit is consistent.
I think we both feel like we’re the only person who will semi understand and tolerate all of this stuff from each other
Not included here, but in several comments, OOP definitely brings up his wife’s looks as a positive in the relationship and he finds her antics at times amusing or even attractive.
1st Update - February 28th, 2024
I recently wrote about my wife suddenly discovering former pro-wrestler Bret “The Hitman” Hart one day after never even knowing of his existence, experienced love at first site, and is now even deeper than love with him then she was a month ago.
Tonight, I experienced a good hour of her sobbing, literal sobs, after watching the Bret Hart A&E biography. “I just love him so much. I love him with all my heart. I don’t want any more bad things to happen to him. Also, I’m very jealous he’s not my husband.”
She also went from not wanting any kids to suddenly wanting a baby so she can name it Bret (a girl or a boy, doesn’t matter…they will be named Bret). And she almost had me convinced, but I blame that on the heat of the moment.
She’s bought all sorts of clothes just like his. My wife now dresses like Bret Hart in and outside of the ring.
The past few days she’s been acting really annoyed with me. Finally I’m like “Wtf am I doing wrong?” I bought you Bret Hart stuff for your birthday! I call you Mrs. Bret Hart now, even though you’re my wife. I even sent you flowers at work from Bret. I mean that was supposed to get me points because she knew they were from me and I was playing into her obsession which she’s now apparently shared with everyone she works with. They’ve bought her a giant Bret Hart wall decal for her office.
Ok, so I did forget our anniversary which was very recently. Totally forgot it. Then again, so did she. She was too busy masturbating over Bret Hart to remember our wedding anniversary. I mean bad husband points for me obviously but all the birthday gifts had to have made up for it. I mean, I even ordered a Bret Hart birthday banner and got her a Bret Hart themed birthday cake as if she were a 7 year old boy in the year 1994.
So why is she acting so annoyed lately? Why does she act like she hates me and can’t stand to even be in the same room as me? She finally admits…I’m not Bret Hart. None of her obsession have ever been this bad. She’s seriously threatening me with divorce now because I’m not Bret Hart! She “just wants a guy like that.” She had to go walk the dog today and cry over it, how much she hates me and wishes she was married to Bret Hart. Oh fuck me you want a guy like your dad because that’s what Bret Hart is like…exactly like her dad, the same look, the same hair, the same damn age.
I told her I think she should get checked out for autism or some other sort of disorder. Her obsessions have never been this bad. She should make an appointment now because the waitlist is long. She just laughed. There’s nothing wrong with her. She just has different taste in men now, according to her.
Some comments
psychick
Therapist here - she needs to see a psychiatrist. This is mental illness to the extreme. Either she goes, or you leave. This is ultimatum territory. And, stop giving into her obsession. It makes it worse.
nualt42
Man, when she threatens divorce, take it. Jump at the chance.
Hell, sit, be a good boy and offer your fucking paw if that’s what it takes to get treated to an exit strategy. Don’t worry about dignity, sounds like you gave that up a long time ago.
She’s even looked up the divorce process for where we live and says we can be amicable about everything. She assures me she’s not looking to take any thing that is rightfully mine. She just wants a clean break.
Sophie3546
I’m surprised he even lasted this long. Calling her “Ms. Bret Hart” …..I can’t even fathom.
Excuse me, it’s MRS Bret Hart, not Ms.
NEW UPDATE - March 8th, 2024
Hi, you might remember me as the guy whose wife was obsessed with JFK (35th President of the United States), then experienced a world wind romance with former WWF pro-wrestler Bret Hart (the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be), but now she’s met a new man. I thought the Bret Hart obsession was the worst one yet. Never has she threatened divorce or told me she hated me because I wasn’t the object of her desire. Luckily, that was a relatively quick love affair for her. 3-4 months is a short run for her and one of her men. But I should be careful what I wish for.
This new one is the first time I’ve felt that I should maybe, just possibly, feel legitimately scared. Her newly developing obsession is Patrick Bateman. Yep, the character from American Psycho. Specifically, the movie version played by Christian Bale.
It’s not like she’s just met the guy. She’s seen the movie before but it doesn’t appear that they hit it off initially. Now, she’s suddenly started making constant reference to him. Bret is gone and now it’s just Patrick Bateman and maniacal laughter and purchasing all of the items in his skin care routine. I’d like to see her do 1000 crunches though. That’ll be the day.
She has always admitted to living the 80s preppy/yuppie look. She loves assholes. Assholes are a weakness for her. Psychopaths? Hmm…that’s a new one, unless you count the time she was in love with the Menendez Brothers years ago. God, the pastel Ralph Lauren sweaters she used to try to make me wear. Pastels are just not my shades.
Now, there was a time many years ago where I did have to hide all the knives in our home. I was legitimately scared that she was going to murder me. I forget what she was upset about now. I am, after all, her type - an asshole. I did something that bothered her and she ran for the knives. I had to hide them and then lock myself in a bedroom because she was literally chasing me. That was before she decided that she’d be the female Patrick Bateman. Granted, she says “only mean in the looks and snob department-nothing else.”
She’s trying to determine what the female equivalent to a Patrick Bateman hairstyle would be right now. I’m just worried about the bank account with this obsession. The amount she’ll spend on business cards alone.

Your wife is severely mentally ill, and needs help quickly.
Is there no chance of persuading her to get help?
If not, what preparations have you made to leave her?
I’m a strange way, I think these obsessions are what keep her sane.
Her getting help is funny though. It’s not going to happen. Sure I’ve tried to persuade her to see a therapist but she just won’t.
ctIaTErA
I probably shouldn’t be laughing as hard as I am right now. This is truly bizarre. Does she narrate her morning routine in the mirror each day now?
But in all seriousness, she’s chased you with a knife? Thats far more concerning than any of the obsessions with these men, and yes I did read the post about the wrestler. I thought it was just very quirky behavior before, but she seems truly unhinged now.
It was years ago. Like 10+ years ago. I’m much stronger than her so it’s not hard to hold her down if need be.

2024.05.15 10:30 Pigik83 What is a web unblocker and how does it work?

Hey everyone!
I recently dove deep into the fascinating world of web unblockers and thought I'd share some insights that might just change how you see internet restrictions and web scraping. You might already know that web unblockers are like secret passageways that let you sneak past internet censorship or geofencing. Think of them as VPNs on steroids, allowing not just encrypted data transfer for privacy but also unrestricted browsing freedom.
But here's where it gets really interesting, especially for folks in the web scraping arena. Web unblockers serve as these powerful APIs designed to outsmart anti-bot protections. They’re like the ninjas of the internet, using tactics such as IP rotation, browser fingerprinting, CAPTCHA solving, and even Javascript rendering to access the data we need.
Now, you might think a proxy does the job by changing your IP address. But web unblockers? They're the whole package, offering a bunch more than just a disguise. Yet, it's not all smooth sailing. No single web unblocker can claim victory over every anti-bot mechanism out there. Tech giants like Cloudflare are in constant evolution, crafting more complex defenses to keep bots at bay.
This is exactly why I conducted the Great Web Unblocker Benchmark. It's a showdown to see how different web unblockers stack up against the toughest anti-bot solutions in the wild. Sure, there's a price tag attached to these unblockers, but picking the right one isn't just about spending money—it's about investing in seamless data access for our projects.
In the end, the key takeaway is weighing the cost against the potential to maintain an uninterrupted data flow for our customers. Let's keep pushing the envelope and finding the best tools to navigate these challenges together.
Cheers to an open and accessible web for all our scraping needs!

2024.05.15 05:37 ImmolationIsFlattery Why didn't Imperial Germany use Hawaiian monarchists, Aztlan separatists (and Mexico to a greater extent), Indigenous peoples, German-Americans, Irish-Americans, neo-confederates, and African-Americans as proxies during WWI to keep the USA busy and mostly away from Europe?

I am researching for an alternate history worldbuilding project I have in mind. I am curious as to why Imperial Germany did not do more with the ethnic and separatist tensions in the USA and the warring factions in Mexico to keep the USA busy during WWI?
If we factor in the mistreatment that German-Americans were already experiencing, it makes sense to exploit that dissatisfaction and any Imperial loyalties to stir some trouble.
Given the conspiracies Imperial Germany had with Ireland (and India), it makes sense to reach out to Irish-Americans (especially veterans of the Mexican-American War who defected to Mexico) to offer them Irish independence if they shift US opinion or even leave the USA to hassle the British during the Rising or after it.
The annexation of Hawaii is still fresh. Should Germany attract Hawaiian monarchists/nationalists, it could weaken the USA and entice Japan to move to the Central Powers to extend its influence into a friendly Hawaii.
Especially in light of how well former slaves and freed black folks fought in the Civil War and during the Haitian revolt, it would make sense to at least pretend to (or to gamble and actually) support black people in gaining an independent state in North America (especially a client state).
Similarly, there are hundreds of indigenous nations in the USA that could see a chance for greater sovereignty in a Central Powers world order that would ostensibly and perhaps even mostly actually content itself with proper dominion over just Europe and Africa.
Then there are the Aztlan separatists, who would either help secure Mexico through merging their aspirations, or at least hassle the USA.
Should they be reticent to support black or indigenous people (at least exclusively: the more tension, the merrier), there are neo-confederates who probably share their racist views and would leap at the chance to have the South rise again and cooperate in plundering Africa.
Was all that just not on their radar, not possible, or what? Please break it down for me. If you can, please give me any reading or video recommendations to help me out.

Looking for an Artists for Dress Blue Infantry
I love the look of the American Navys dress blues. I want to find files or an artist to commission infantry style models to proxy for my IG. Pictures above are examples of the uniform style.
If anyone knows the files or a great artist please comment below.

2024.05.14 19:29 Some1inreallife Circumcision "Choice" completely misunderstands consent.

I remember seeing a meme they made a while back, I'm having trouble finding it. So I'll explain what it says.
It basically says something like, "Of course there's consent with circumcision. Your parents consented to it." I've even seen one of their members say that same argument as well.
First of all, did the baby boy consent to circumcision? If not, that's not consent. That's called proxy consent. Meaning it's consent on behalf of somebody else. The parents may want their son to be circumcised, but if the son doesn't want to be circumcised, then the consent that matters most, which is the son's consent, has been violated.
Circumcision proponents may respond to this by saying that should we not vaccinate our babies or perform any other procedures on them because they might not consent to it? My response would be that circumcision is not an emergency can be done at any moment in life, and it should be done when the son is old enough to consent. Because I can guarantee you that had we been left intact, the vast majority of us would choose to keep our foreskins.
Here's a thought experiment for circumcision proponents. Let's say two American parents adopt a 10 year old intact boy. The parents want him circumcised, but the young boy insists that he doesn't want the circumcision. But the appointment is scheduled, but the boy demands that they cancel the circumcision appointment. Even in this case, should the parents' decision to circumcise their son override their son's bodily autonomy? If you say yes, at what age should it no longer be a parental decision, but the child's choice?

2024.05.14 18:43 Strange-Ad5084 Views on my video from UK

My ex, who is from UK and the ONLY person I know from there, has me blocked on tiktok. I’m from USA. My videos usually get around 250 views each and EVERY time I have UK as the second highest percentage of viewers WITHOUT fail, coming in at around 3-4%. I have caught her unblocking be before. I’m starting to wonder if it’s just her stalking me on another account or unblocking me and blocking me again, but I don’t know enough about tiktok to conclude this. Is it normal as an American to ALWAYS have your second most viewership come from England? On literally every single video.

2024.05.14 15:51 FriendofMolly CMV: Republicans are being extremely hypocritical when it comes to the Palestine protests in two major ways, and in one way the left's past hypocrisy is biting back at them.

So to preface off I wouldn't call myself a republican but someone who leans right on most hot button issues but would be considered more left on social issues.
Now I remember back to both the 2016 elections and the 2020 elections and I also am not afraid to admit some of the loudest trump supporters were just straight old southern style racists. Which led to the left calling all trump supporters racists by proxy. Now being the mature person I was, was able to see through the bs of that narrative and follow simple logic, and realize something obvious.
The more modern movements against racism and bigotry etc didn't start after Trump. They began to gain traction around the early 2010's on the left. So the media used that as their angle against trump which brought these movements and their voices to the forefront during the first Trump election cycle. Which in turn brought out the true racist and bigots in full force out of hiding because they felt like they were being attacked. A small amount of the people who voted for trump are truly racist even though at the Trump rallies and at all of the public voicings like that its not hard to find those racists.
So just like not all Trump supporters are/were racist bigots, not all these protesters hate America or are antisemetic nor is the movement as a whole or in part an antisemetic or anti-American movement.
So if the right is able to use its brain and not get scared out of using simple logic by means of slander and forced association with loudmouth radicals, why do most people on the right not seem capable of using that same logic when its a movement they don't suppport? Like if the Palestinian liberation movements are just straight up antisemetic and anti-American, and all the jewish people part of the movement are "not really jewish" or are "self hating jews", then MAGA supporters and trump supporters are just straight up white nationalist racist, and all the black supporters are just uncle toms and any minority supporting trump is self loathing.
The logic must go both ways or else its practicing a hypocrisy worse than what the right has accused the left of for years. Then the left's hypocrisy in the situation is the fact that those years ago they spouted this stuff about all trump supporters being those things and made a wrong and overtly broad generalization about a movement and now the same thing is happening to one of their movements (I understand that the Palestine protests / supporters arent only leftists I'm an example of that), but its now biting them in the ass and its not wrong to complain about the logic being used against them but its still hypocrisy at some level.
Now lets get to my second point. So i went to a preppy private Christian school that was huuuuge on patriotism, and one of the things i know very well about the formation of this country and its independence from Britain other that the militarized battles were the acts of non violent protest against the British and how acts of protest are the cornerstone of this nation. Now, i hear alot of people on the right talking about how these protests are "breaking rules" and "disrupting order". Well duhh isn't that what protests are? When $1.7mil worth of tea was dumped into the Boston Harbor, I'm sure they weren't "allowed" to do such and im sure there were "rules and laws" stating they couldn't do that but that's not what america was about then and that's not what its about now.
The second biggest talking point for the second amendment and out right to form militias for the possibility we have to fight outside forces or even our own govt. Well I am sure that we technically aren't "allowed" to fight our own government and I am sure there are "laws" prohibiting us from doing such but when it comes down to it does the status quo and laws really matter over righteousness? So what is it does the right support patriotic values and constitutional values over authoritarianism no matter what, or does the right support patriotism only when it aligns with their agenda. Its a problem on the left too don't get me wrong but with the status quo message of the right I didn't expect such hypocrisy. Although some was shown during the BLM marches it was nowhere near to this level
