I live in Canada. Some years ago my sister-in-law took my 3 sisters and I to the RL for our Christmas lunch. It was awesome. I'm a seafood lover. This past Christmas my BFF and I went there for our Christmas lunch. I have never been so disappointed in a place to eat. I ordered breaded Shrimp and scallops. Didn't look anything like the ones in their commercials. The pieces of meat inside were so small and there was no flavor at all. My friend doesn't like seafood and so she had a salad. Lucky her. Anyway I was so disgusted that I swore to never go back. The prices are way too high for food that is so boring, so mediocre and almost disgusting. I haven't heard about any closing in Canada yet but I'm sure we will. I am so sorry the workers are losing their jobs. Hopefully there is another job right around the corner. Good Luck!!!

I worked at a Red Lobster location for about a year now. Earlier today I drove to work to preform my usual serving shift only to discover a big padlock and a sign on the door reading “This location is closed, we look forward to serving you at our other locations”. They didn’t even tell me?!?
They gave absolutely no notice warning to anybody, not even our General Manager who has been nothing but self sacrificing for this horrible company. Not to mention the whole time this location was violating food safety laws, not throwing away rotten food containers/ rotating sour creams like they should have.
I was told they’d transfer me to a different location that’s a 45 minute drive from my original one, only to hear a hour later that this one was closed too. Lol. This surely has to be against all sort of workers right.

 | This is just more of a vent for me but I work at Red Lobster and I just found out our location is permanently closed. I’m sure other Red Lobster employees have been nervous because of the bankruptcy and honestly at this point I’d take your chance and jump ship. I worked at what was considered a safe and profitable location, but no, there was no warning or anything. My Partner and I worked here together and it allowed us to support ourselves. We have no safety net or family to fall back on and this money was the only thing keeping us afloat. Thank god it was Mother’s Day and we some good money. I’m not surprised this happened, this company treats every single worker like dog shit, more so than other restaurants, and now there’s just no job. As much as I complained and said I hated the job it genuinely allowed me to support myself and finally not feel like rent and bills every month were crushing me. I just don’t know what to do, this is just crazy news. We didn’t even get an email, we checked our scheduling app and it just said we were closed and a number to call for benefits.its also crazy I’ll never see the crew again, we were pretty solid and all gave good damn service. Anyone notice that tip out went to 1% and here in Fairfax Va . We have been making about 75 to 100 less than servers every shift. And we are only allowed 2 tables and the host usually seats 1 tops and 2 tops there. We have to hand wash every bar glass. We come in an hour before most servers and leave with the closing manager. And the drink orders are time consuming with the new specialty drinks. So the pay got less but the job got harder. 😡

It feels like the walls are closing in. Every day is both different and the same. I treated myself yesterday with Redlobster but I kind of regret it. Not because the food was bad it was ok. My family doesn’t like seafood and some can’t even stand the smell. So if I want seafood I have to go out and eat.

Any going out just remind me about how lonely I am. Sitting at the bar (I don’t drink and I didn’t want to wait a half hour for a table) there were couples everywhere and it made me wish I was there for a date. But like usual that just reminded me of why I’m single. I don’t make enough money to support myself let alone someone else. I don’t know how to interact with women. Sure I’m funny but only really in the punny way. And finally and probably the most important thing is I always seem to fuck things up. I do my best but I somehow it always goes wrong. My family say I’m a good kind nice and thoughtful person but deep down I doubt I am. Because if I am a good person then why do things not work out for me. I believe in karma and I don’t have the kind of luck a bad person has but definitely don’t have good luck either. I got sick the other week and the bill came I owe them almost $2,000 for medicine and a chest x ray. Next time I’m just going to wait till I’m literally dying before I go do that again. I have been thinking about death in a while but today when that bill came all I could think about was how I don’t want to be here anymore. When I’d hear about other people killing them selfs I’d think about how selfish it was. And now I want to be selfish.

When I first moved to the midwest, I was surprised how satisfied I was with Red Lobster considering there weren't any sources of fish nearby. Yet the seafood was still good, and even the non-seafood was good. Yet these past few years they've gotten rid of or changed so many menu options! I've never seen a chain cycle their menu as much as Red Lobster does and it's infuriating. You find something you like and it's gone in two months!
-Lobster Stuffed Flounder: Removed like 2 years ago now even though they clearly still have the materials to make it as they have a Lobster Stuffed Potato using the same meuniure and filling
-Lobster Bisque: Ditched recently, no replacement. Only soup left is chowder.
-Chicken Alfredo: Removed to be replaced with "Cajun" version which is too spicy for me. (Sorry, I'm white.)
-Crab Alfredo: Gone, no replacement
-Wagyu burger: Replaced by a burger that chews like leather and replaced the steak sauce with a "special sauce" that seems to just be McD's big mac sauce with peppers in it.
-Sea Salted Fries: Replaced by seasoned fries, covered in powder that tastes straight out of the school lunch menu with no actual salt.
-Popcorn Shrimp: Supposedly gone temporarily due to shortage, but my RL now says it is being permanently replaced by "Round Crunch Shrimp"
That's not to mention the serving sizes have generally gotten significantly smaller (What did they do to my precious salads...) but at least you can still have the same flavoutexture even if it's less in that case.
