We have a 4yo box turtle that has been very chill and friendly toward humans. She doesn’t nip and is not in anyway curious about fingers etc. Recently she has been going bonkers over a spray bottle we use to mist her terrarium. She will bite at the white parts pretty hard. We thought she was playing with it but we’ve learned enough about her personality that this is aggression. At first it was cute but now I’m questioning it. Can a box turtle learn to be aggressive towards things and transfer that to other things like people and pets? Or is turtle intellect not as developed?
The setup:
3-4 yo eastern box turtle In a 1.5 by 40” enclosure (I know, we need a better one) Diet is various veggies every day and meal worms every 3rd day. Strawberries as a treat once a week Daylight bulb and 4mo. UVB 15 bulb placed 1 foot from the turtle. Log to hide in and pond at one end of the enclosure, water changed most days. Vitamins and calcuim on food with the occasional cuddlebone. Coro substrate and letuce/kale/dandelion greens arranged in the enclosure. Aprox 2 hours of sun a from a window. No other animals in the enclosure. White cat likes to hang out on/around the enclosure and they get along.

Tachycardia was noted during the study. 4cc of Lumason was given to improve LV assessment and was injected in the left arm.

These are my results from my echo I’m 25 M I’m doing everything healthy since that visit I got another appointment January 2nd. I’m taking vitamins and Beets and Turmeric everyday. I’m only Drinking Water I fast and I only eat fruits or vegetables but I also eat 4 scrambled eggs no salt and that’s it or I eat fruits and vegetables and a bag of popcorn no extra seasonings to it. Basically no meat no fried food no fast food. No pasta. I still have chest pains left and right side of my chest it’s not the tightness feeling or the shooting pain I can’t even really describe it but it’s pin pointed pain that last like 3 seconds and I be having heart palpitations but the vitamins help a lot with that the magnesium and iron pills and beets. So hopefully by like December 15 I start feeling better. Because if I still feel the same I’m pretty sure that means there hasn’t been any improvement. And by the look of my results it’s not that bad you know! But I’m super young that’s why my doctor is concerned. Also have sever sleep apnea I literally just discovered I have that around the same time I got the bad news about my heart. So I have a cpap machine. The chest pains started like 4-5 months ago, the heart palpitations started like 2 months ago. The start of my issues I was 414 24 years old now I’m 25 358. By January 2nd I wanna be 300 or 320. Quick note I’m 6’3.Also I did have a ct scan done and all that came back good 0 calcuim score,No fluids in heart or lungs, Normal Heart size normal Bones. And the summary was Low change of cardiovascular issues. Did a stress test as well did good with that.all of those test where 2 months apart. Only thing bad was the Left ventricle being enlarged and 45%-50% Mildly reduced systolic function. Oh and one more thing my blood pressure would always be high wen I would go to these appointments like 143/89-154/89 so I bought myself a blood pressure cuff and I take my blood pressure same time everyday in the same spot it’s usually 126/84-134/89. Last thing I’m not on any medications yet my doctor ig wants to see my Heart MRI results from January 2nd to determine if he will put me on any. I’m hoping with all my energy lol that it improves I don’t wanna get put on any medication. This shit really pausing my life right now. I’m on medical leave my job is delivering packages at fedex. Me and my girl live together. But my parents said I could move back in to focus 100% on my health. And my girlfriend mom told her she could move back in also untill I’m 100% healthy.

Hey guys and gals, women and men -
I was wondering if you would be so kind to share with me few tips on how you stretched the food and other supplies in your household. Especially the food. Do you have some “working” system maybe?
Quick recently i got heavily messed up with my health and while trying to figure out the solution i climbed down severely below poverty line, so below that many basic essentials becomes a luxury. Overall i grew up in an ok household, we didnt have much extra but always had food and essentials so this experience is pretty new to me. Initially i just responded to it by adjusting , many things were extra that i could say good bye to and making it to live with everything less. But now im realizing that I kinda hit the limit of giving up what i don’t have and I cannot keep giving up further bc there is nothing much left to give up i need some managing tips. Especially pressing matter is with food - i dont have enough of it to sustain whole month, like literally i have many 2,5-3 week max of full menu. I still try to pick some healthy foods as if its something boring i end up not eating it. But maybe here i could use some tips from you? Maybe some things i could stretch or some things possible to replace. The best would be if ideas are more healthy and nutritious.

Update. Thank you so much for all your answers and help. I didn’t expect so many comments. I wasn’t too specific to my limitations as i was searching for tips that worked for you. I have some personal limitations that prevents me from going stores to search for better prices and from advanced cooking. But i was able to get some nice ideas from you.
I have snaps and i can order the grocery delivery from one place, its super crazy very expensive (like 6-7$ for pack of apples or 14$/ lbs of beef) and thats why i have to search for ways to stretch thin resources so that i could have food for all month. Being inspired by some of your ideas i found super cheap 10 lbs pack of chicken legs for 8$. That should give good meat for me and to share with my dog. Someone was kind to bring it to my appt and i cooked the chicken in few batches. I took chicken meat apart from bones and separated for me and my dog. For me i will cook chicken in some spices with maybe carrots. The broth from multiple cooking for my dog became like a jello and ive been giving by little to my dog for her bones and i froze some. I haven’t figured out what to do with bouillon i made for myself from chicken. I was super fatty and took off all extra fat after it chilled and its now in fridge waiting for some ideas. Idk if it will taste okay by itself being chicken so cheap so i think i might need some spices,taste ideas. i also bough few 4$ natural frozen lunches. I wanted to use 1 of them a day with some rice and lentils but turned out i was getting hungry after some time and could not last whole day. I’ve been using 2 of them a day for meals. I made rice mixed with lentils and little frozen spinach and use it as carbs added to the frozen lunches mixed with lunch sauces, and added to meat to my dog. She loves it, im getting used to taste as im not huge fan of green lentils. For the rest of money i was planning on spending , ( i made something left too bc i wasnt buying for the whole month) i bought some fresh fruit and some natural juices to have some vitamins. For cooking, I made a gravy out of beef marrow bone with some meat on it with onions but i think it turned out kinda weak in taste. I got a little ground beef - i think i will mix it with gravy later to make the meaty taste more stronger. I will do it when i will have my spices. I also found mix of few grains - i think cooking that will make my food be more interesting , especially with gravy and i would be eating it more happy as if its just something boring i end up skipping meals. I tried to plan around some more advanced cooking but i could not break even financially to get all ingredients for few dishes and also it would be challenging with limitations i have to cook, preparing, cleaning and actual pants/bowls that i dont have enough, the logistics just wasn’t working. The idea to supplement with frozen dinners also not working much though so i would have to find in a middle. To make something full of vitamins i got natural tomato juice on sale and bag of fresh green mix for 1.50. I want to blend them together and drink it for vitamins. I got pack of cottage cheese for some protein and calcuim and a bottle of buttermilk. I also found a 1.50 $ tofu on sale and i will find what to add it to. If chicken meat with spices will turn well i will add it there. I decided to skip buying any bread as it is expensive and also too delicious and it makes blood to hike up and its harder to take longer no-eating breaks between meals after the bread. I bought can of evaporated milk so that if i need to add it to somewhere it stays longer and i can stretch it better for price. I haven’t figured out what kind of sweets i could have that will last for long and wont throw me off the eating pattern i plan. For now its just pack of rock asian sugar and some fruits.

I noticed my beardie had a muscle twitch on his right side, which means he has MBD right? Overall he looks healthy, but he has been quite lethargic lately.
The issue with him is his refusal to eat anything but bugs, I try feeding him different sorts of veggies all the time and I've tried all the different methods people suggest on youtube but they have all failed. Only times I could get him to eat a leaf or two was if he hasnt eaten for a couple of days however obviously I couldnt let this be the only way, so our routine was: I prepare a sliced salad with diff combinations like kale, mustard greens etc etc, you get the point. He'd sometimes (rarely) try a leaf, but that would be it, so I'd just gut load the bugs with his salad and then feed him dusted dubias or super worms. He doesn't even like any fruit or snack foods! Plus I've only seen him drink water once in the entire time I've had him, I have to just feed him juicy bugs, bathe him and sometimes I force hydrate him with a baby syringe.
What are some tips or advice? I have no exotic vets around so I have to combat this at home, which I dont think should be hard as he is young (1 yr old) and doesnt seem to be in the very advanced stage.
I'm gonna start force feeding him aswel. I made a smoothie with the veggies he should be eating and added some vitamins, minerals and calcuim and I bought a baby syringe. I'll also get a stronger basking bulb and place it a few cm differently, so that it covers more space of the warm side. His basking temp is 34c however due to the placing it doesnt cover much. The linear UVB lamp I have now is an Exo Terra Repti 10% which I bought 3 months ago, should I buy a stronger UVB percentage?

I'm 39M in the UK - 5'7" 170lbs. Was on 50mg of Sertraline.
Constantly tired and worsening depression so contacted the GP who arranged for blood test. Results below.
The doctor said that everything looks fine and has increased my Sertraline dosage to 100mg.

I last ate sunday the 10th around 9pm and broke my fast today around 5am.
I woke up at like 3am and just figured to go for it. I've been doing a water fast but included about half a cup of coffee in the morning and flavored water so I took my electrolytes and a 250mg thiamine tab because thiamine is important for converting food to energy- I took one last night as well. My magnesium supplement includes calcuim, vitamin d, and phosphorus, and I am under the impression phosphoric is important for food conversion also. So I took all that first so it would be in my system and had my half cup of coffee and started preparing my fast break meal. At first when I was preparing ingredients I was very hungry and was concerned I'd snack before the stuff was done but when the water and stuff settled in I wasn't that hungry anymore.
I made a pretty basic broccoli soup with cashews to make it creamy, nutritional yeast and flax seeds, garlic and cummin. I think you could also just boil the heck out of broccoli and eat it slow and chew it well. The first bite was really intense and my stomach felt kind of... full? so I would wait until my stomach felt ok until I ate another spoonful. After about 30min it was ok with food. I just ate a small bowl and I feel fine- I was concerned about feeling sick or something. I tracked the calories for it and am going to aim for 1/2 my normal calorie amount for a couple of days so my body can adjust to food again. I have more of the soup, but also sweet potatoes and brussle sprouts so I'm not sure at what point I'm going to go to solids. I have some frozen berries and bananas so maybe tomorrow I'll try a smoothie- I wanted to not get too carby today so my insulin can catch up.
I plan to do a whole recap in a few days when my water weight has settled back in, but anyway good luck everyone and do your research so you can have a safe fast :)

Hi there. I'm currently in the process of starting a small mealworm farm and I wanted to see if gut loading them with eggshells would be reasonable for the sake of certain vitamins or if I would be better off with dusting some crickets or superworms. I know eggshells have calcium and multiple vitamin Ds but not much else so I want to know if it would be worth replacing eggshell gut loaded mealworms with my calcuim/D3 mix supplement that I put on crickets or superworms. I'm aware mealworms don't gut feed well and I simply want to see if this is safe or not or too much of a hassle for my single leo. I also would need an idea on how to do this if it does happen to be a good idea. Thank you so much.

Hello there, so recently my female bearded has been acting a little off.
She hasn't eaten anything for a few weeks now, she came out of brumation about a month and a half ago. Started eating for about a week or two, and then hasn't eaten since then.
At first I thought she was just being on and off about her food, she's done that before. But what made me concerned was that fact that she was no longer excepting her favourite treat: Wax Worms. I only give them to her on the weekends and she goes nuts for them, never known her to refuse them before. But for the last few weeks she has just stared at them then walked off.
At first I thought she was impacted or something like that because a week ago I once saw her straining to poo and she was only pushing out the white stuff that can usually be found with beardy poo.
So I started giving her a daily warm bath to try and help her along; it's been a week of this and there is still no luck. She only pushes out the white pellets and nothing else. But I'm convinced that I see something brown trying to follow but she can never push it out, but now I'm starting to question myself on that.
So after a week of doing that I'm not sure if she is impacted or not anymore.
She's not lethargic, quite the opposite really.
Her back legs aren't swollen and neither is her tail, she is still using those legs quite a lot. They do feel a little squishy but that might just be me picking up on things that have always been there or it's because she's losing some wait.
Then last Thursday, I noticed her balance was also off, she trips over her own feet and falls on her side every now and then but she doesn't let it stop her from moving around. Her head is not shaking, she is only off balance.
So I thought "Ah you have a vitamin deficiency because you're not eating because you are impacted, and you're probably impacted because you have another vitamin deficiency because your UVB tube has not been replaced in 6 months!" So I changed that last Saturday.
Also on Saturday I just cleaned out everything while I was at it.
Since then However, she has also started digging all around her viv. This started over the weekend. I'm open to the idea that she may want to lay infertile eggs, but I find that surprising since I have had her since she was 5 months old and she's never laid any eggs in that time.
Here's her setup, don't yell at me, but for her bedding I use this product called "beardy life" from a British company called ProRep.
It's sand and dirt but it's suppose to be designed for them, I use it because it's what the guys at the Reptile store where I got my beardy from told me to use. The store specialises in only reptiles and they've been doing it for nearly twenty years now. I actually volunteered there for a year and got to see how they looked after the animals and I saw that they did a really good job at it. They also used this sand for the beardies they had, so I have plenty of reason to trust their judgement.
Her viv is in my room, and I spend a lot of time in my room (especially recently) So I see what she gets up to quite often and I have never seen her eat the sand.
Her viv is a 4 by 2 1/2.
She has a warm side and a cool side, the warm side is around 35 C with her basking space surface being around 43 C because it is a dark colour and directly under the light.
Cool side is around 28 - 30 C.
She eats locusts every other day that are dusted with calcuim dust on week days and then nutrobal dust on the weekends. She has leafy greens in the days between, rocket, but she's not a "eat your veggies sort of beardy". Most times she will just leave it and not eat any of it 9 times out of 10.
I would expand her choice of leafy greens but the fact that she didn't eat it most of the time forced me to just reduce it to the one because all the other wasted greens were starting to become really expensive.
Because she hasn't been eating I have since yesterday started dunking my finger in the dust and getting her to lick it so she's at least getting something into her system.
She's not a small beardy, in fact she's quite large for a female but she's not fat. She's just a big beardy. She never over eats, she always seems to know when to stop eating.
I plan on taking her to the vet sometime this week, unfortunately the timing is really bad considering on how everything is with quarantine right now.

Update 4.06.2020
She laid eggs! Or has been laying eggs over the last couple of days. On Sunday she laid up to 5, and on Wednesday she laid one, and then Thursday today she laid another two. I'm expecting her to lay more over the coming days cause I've read that they usually lay over 15 and right now she is at 8.A few days after I made this post I took her over to a place that specialise in reptiles and they said they couldn't feel any eggs in her. Two weeks later she laid the 5 I mentioned earlier, I guess they just hadn't developed yet two weeks ago?
She hasn't been using an eggs box, she's just been laying them wherever she pleases; on Sunday she laid them in the garden when I sat outside with her. And then after that has just been leaving them around in her viv for me to find. She's stopped digging also, and doesn't seem to care whenever I go to pick them, no threat displays, no biting, no running over to stop me, nothing . In fact she's fine with laying them right in front of me, guess that maternal instinct thing just isn't in her?
I've bathed her every other day to keep her hydrated and spray water on her head for her to drink whenever she lays more. I've offered her food a few times now but she still refuses; this leads me to believe that she still has a few more she needs to lay. Still looks healthy weight wise, does appear a lot more tired however on the days she lays eggs, on the days without eggs she appears not to be tired at all.
I think she has eaten the occasional locust because her poor includes brown waste no instead of just white pellets. The brown waste is in very small quantities, but it's different to their just being none whatsoever.
Update 21.07.2020
She finished laying her eggs and has gained her full appetite back. However, after laying all her eggs she then gained head shaking, which I know is a bad sign and it only seemed to get worse and worse in the following weeks, despite her giving her calcium dusting everyday and her returned appetite. So we took her to the vet and he suspects that she may have an ear infection, he said he noticed how she leaned onto her right side more than her left whenever she lost her balance.
He gave her antibiotics and told us to visit him again in 3 days to which we did which is when he gave her a second dose of anitbiotics. After that he told us to send him an email after 3 days to describe her condition. We've done that and are just waiting for a reply which the vet said may take awhile because with the vets opening back up they are now really busy. But he said we are free to take her back to the vet whenever before he gets the chance to reply to the email if we think she needs it.
I am considering on that now. during the week where she got her antibiotics she did seem to improve somewhat, she was a lot more active, held her body up more instead of just sitting down every time she wasn't moving. Head shaking was still prevalent but seemed slightly more controlled. Since her last jab however, she seems to have gotten worse again, it's unclear if this is the antibiotics wearing off or if it is something else.
The vet never took any blood samples from her probably because it sounded like the antibiotics were improving her condition, so the cause of her condition probably didn't need any further investigation.
He also suggested that in the meantime we lower her UV tube so she gets more exposure to it, which we have done.
