Dearest Jesse (and co),
I heard your call for someone with relevant expertise to talk about the effects of radiation of two "suns" on Earth plants and I have some thoughts to offer. Plants per se are not my specialty, but I am a cell biologist with enough info on how they work to be relevant (I hope). TL;DR, you are correct the plants would not be happy, though honestly radiation is only one of the problems and probably better tolerated than some of the others, but these could easily be fixed by building an environmental chamber.
The radiation-specific bit:
Assuming that the radiation is not 'insta-kill' levels, the problem is primarily that it causes damage to DNA. Plants and other organisms exposed radiation from the sun and other sources on a general basis have evolved ways of dealing with this. One way is to try and prevent radiation from getting to the DNA (see e.g. melanin-producing fungi that thrive at Chernobyl). Another, used by pretty much every organism, is to have DNA surveillance mechanisms that either fix the problem or, in the case of multi-cellular organisms like plants and humans, cause the cell to self-destruct if the damage is too severe. As evolution is honestly an inelegant process that gets things to a 'workable for procreation' state not a 'beautifully and perfectly optimized' state, these systems are indeed best suited to the level of radiation damage they can expect to accumulate from our normal sun. Higher levels could cause a variety of effects ranging from stunted growth because of increased rate of defective cell division (due to DNA damage) to generation of al kinds of weird new types of plants. This is actually where many of our modern agricultural products come from. In the early 20th century a bunch of horticulturalists blasted food crops with radiation and just looked for desirable offspring generated by the mutated plants (no, this is not what is meant by the modern term GMO).
This gets to the second part of the point: of all the organisms on Earth, plants are probably the best suited to suddenly be transported to a place where they will incur lots of extra radiation damage. This is because their chromosomes are WEIRD. Humans have two full sets of chromosomes, one from each parent. 23 chromosomes x 2 copies = 46. Most animals are like this, i.e. diploid. Lots of fungi are haploid (only one copy each) or diploid. Plants looked at this system and said N00Bs! Many of them have more than 2 copies of each chromosome and are tetraploid (4), octaploid (8), or more. The fern Ophioglossum reticulatum is reported to hold the current record at 1440 copies, which is just absurd. Lots of food crops (wheat, potato, sugarcane, peanuts, to name a few) have more than 2 copies of each chromosome. In practical terms, this means they could withstand a lot of genetic damage without necessarily being too affected because they have a large information backup.
The non-radiation problem bit:
If this situation was proposed to me, my first concern would actually be circadian periodicity. Plant growth and especially flowering (necessary for any fruits or veggies) is tightly regulated by circadian rhythms and many plants are exquisitely tuned to the length of dark and light. If suddenly they are getting the wrong amount of light, flowering (and therefore fruit production) might be halted completely. In a binary star system, I imagine the fraction of time spent in "day" is probably more than it is on Earth, wreaking havoc on the ability of any plants whose flowers are involved in the part that we eat (i.e. it wouldn't matter for things like lettuce), to produce a food crop.
There is also the problem soil composition/nutrient availability. The chances of the alien planet having the right kind of soil is essentially zero, though they could certainly grow most things hydroponically and add in liquid fertilizer, but how much fertilizer of this type were they bringing (Mathas can check the inventory for this item)? And how long would that last?
This would all be fairly easily solved by just building an environmentally-controlled chamber with lighting on a timer, and I assume that would be the plan. Many greenhouses even on earth use a system like this so that they can dictate when flowers form and to keep growth more regular. On Serpo, they would just want to make sure the outside was especially shielded from any stray light/radiation.

The episode resumed on a shot of Zee and Jo, their skin tones back to normal, running up to a smiling Chris. "Welcome back," he told the camera. "Zee and helper Jo are the first to arrive here, at the world's largest mud puddle!" The camera pulled back, revealing that the trio was standing near the edge of a large lake of burbling mud, a measuring stick rising out of it at the nearest edge.
"It's eight feet deep," Chris explained over a close-up of the measuring stick showing the mud reaching up very nearly to the 8' mark, "and 200 yards across. And," the camera quick-panned to the far right side of the 'puddle', "since it's too thick to swim through," the shot cut back to the couple and Chris, "the only way to the other side is with one of you piggybacking the other."
"Umm...," Zee said hesitantly, sharing a wary look with Jo, "doesn't that mean the person on the bottom..."
"Will drown?" Chris finished. "Yes."
"What?!" Jo said in wide-eyed shock.
"Unless they use this garden hose!" Chris added, a light chime playing as he held up a length of green hose.
Zee let out a breath. "Okay then. Guess I'm on the bottom, then."
Jo's eyes widened a bit in a brief bit of surprise, and she looked at her partner. "I should be objecting to this since I'm supposed to be the helper, but hey. No heavy lifting from me."
"Yeah…" Zee agreed half heartedly.

"I was able to hold Jo onto my back while we were skiing," Zee told the confessional. "I can still do the same while under mud."

"I know that I said you were weak in the past," Jo said, "but that was until I saw that you were able to make it this far in the game."
"You thought wrong about me," Zee replied. "I wasn’t active at first in challenges and finding food, but with Julia eliminated, I was able to grow and become a finalist."
Chris suddenly stepped between the two. "How touching. Now start the challenge."
The scene cut to Zee and Jo jumping into the mud, the former disappearing below its depths while the latter, on his shoulders, held up the length of the hose. They started moving forward, and the camera panned back to the left to show Harold, Scarlett, and Chris holding up another length of hose.
"Yeah, I'll be on top," Harold stated.
"Pardon me?" Scarlett countered, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't trust you not to let me drown," Harold told her. "Self-preservation comes first."
Scarlett groaned. "That's fair," she said, taking the hose from Chris, "but if you let me suffocate, I'm dragging you down into the mud with me."
"Crustal," Harold deadpanned, and as Scarlett crouched down, she jumped onto the brainiac's shoulders. Scarlett stood back up and put the end of the hose in her mouth, and she jumped into the mud.
The tense music faded away as the camera moved onto Chris, the host sighing as Chef walked up. "You think the mud was a bad idea?" Chris asked. "It's a little quiet… oh yeah," Chris said as if in sudden realization, "almost forgot about the Peanut Gallery. Bring 'em back in!" he said into a walkie talkie he only then pulled out.
Moments later, the wind kicked up around them, and the camera zoomed out to show the large helicopter flying in with the former contestants still hanging – and screaming as they swayed ominously – below it. "Would you let us down already?!" Leshawna shouted angrily. "It's freezin' up here!"
"Yeah, I want to cheer for Zee!" Julia chimed in.
"If I wasn't tied up right now, I'd have half a mind to pound you!" Duncan shouted at the host.
The camera focused on DJ. "Hey, Chris?" he looked forward and asked loudly. "Just bring us down before anybody else gets miffed at you!"
"No, and I don't care," Chris answered with a calm smile, until Chef whispered to him. A flat note played over a close-up of Chris staring blankly at him. "Huh...good point," he admitted. "Ooh!" he said with a sudden grin. "I just had an idea!"
A flash took the scene to Zee and Jo, the tense challenge music resuming at a low volume and slow pace in the background. They were still slogging through the mud, Zee out of sight but Jo only submerged up to her stomach. She looked back over her shoulder, smiled, then said "Keep going!" into the piece of hose she was holding. "They're way far behind!"

"So as it turns out," Zee said, "being submerged in the mud is kinda like being trapped in the dark. But there aren't any animals below to scare me."

The music ramped up as Jo suddenly stopped moving, then seemed to turn around and start moving back towards the start. "Uh, Fruit Loop?" she asked into the hose. "We're going the wrong way!"
The camera cut to Harold, looking somewhat bored as he held the hose atop Scarlett's shoulders, before noticing the other team and frowning. "Why are they coming this way?"
"Ugh! They're too safe to sabotage each other!" came the sudden voice of Chris McLean, the camera cutting to him standing in the show's jeep with Chef at the wheel, speaking into the microphone of the jeep's loudspeaker. "Deploy the 2.0 model!"
The shot cut back to Harold and Jo as they looked around with strange expressions, the sound of something like a rocket taking off coming from somewhere in the distance. They looked up and to the left, and the camera shifted to their viewpoint to show a large object shooting up through the sky overhead...
...then abruptly diving towards them, revealing itself as a red-eyed robotic bear with small jet engines coming out of its back. Harold and Jo screamed as their respective partners continued in their previous directions, getting out of the way as the Bear landed in the mud. It hit with enough force to cause a wave of mud, which shot all the way across the puddle carrying the finalists and their helpers along for the ride. All four immediately began to cough upon landing in a muddy heap.

"At least I have a better shot," Harold said. "We're tied right now, but who knows what other tricks Chris has up his sleeves."

A close-up of the nozzle of a fire hose in Chef's hands preceded him blasting the muddy finalists and helpers with water, all four screaming where they'd landed on the shore of the 'puddle'. Moments later, the water was shut off, leaving them drenched but clean.
"We're all tied up," Chris announced with a smile. "Perfect time for a little break. First, let's bring in the Peanut Gallery again." He took out his remote and pointed it at a patch of ground nearby, a hole opening up in it and a rather shoddy-looking set of stadium seats shooting up out of it with the ten former contestants seated – and still tied-up – in it.
"Sha-finally," Lightning said, the shot cutting to him sitting in the top row with B, DJ, Duncan, and Max and Leshawna, Ella, Julia, Sammy, and Amy in the bottom row. "Are we gonna get to watch the rest of the challenge now?"
"Yup!" Chris answered with a happy smile, pressing the button on his remote again so that a large widescreen television emerged from another hole in the ground near him and the finalists.
"Will you untie us too?" Ella chimed in.
Chris huffed. "Whine, whine, whine," he said in annoyance. "Don't I do enough for you kids as it is?"
"No," all fourteen of the season's cast members replied at the same time.
A flat note played over a close-up of the host pursing his lips. "Yeah, I owe Chef twenty bucks about that," Chris said, the camera zooming back out again to show the finalists and helpers. "Everyone, grab a seat," he instructed, and the four reluctantly sat down on the logs lying behind them. "I'm gonna show you some of my favorite clips from the show..." He pointed his remote at the TV, and the shot focused in as it switched on and started to play footage of a confessional...
"Dunderhead was already pretty useless," Jo complained. "But now he's making moves on one of the actually decent players on the team? Not on my watch!"
The camera cut in close to show Jo pausing and looking back. "Something on your mind, Anti-Squeakerbox?" she asked, the camera shifting to show B peering at her and shaking his head.
“It's not what you think it is," Jo told him. "As long as they are on this team, Julia and Zee will not date."
“Not exactly how I wanted the elimination to play, but hey. Julia’s gone and with Zee still in the game, I could manipulate him into doing whatever I say,” Jo grinned.
The footage paused, and Chris leaned out in front of the television with a wide and mischievous grin. "Seems like there isn't a shipper on deck…" he said impishly.
"So you were trying to keep me and Julia apart?" Zee said as the camera moved to him and Jo, his eyes wide with shock. "Does this mean that...,"
"Yup. I convinced Julia to quit," Jo replied. "I didn't expect her to fully go through with it since I was gonna vote you out!"
"I can't believe you'd try and do that!" Zee said with a glare!"
"If I didn't do what I did, then you two likely would've blown challenges for us like the dueling one!" Jo argued back.
The camera focused on Julia in the Peanut Gallery. "I was trying to defend my boyfriend, but sure," she said dryly.
"I'm just worried what Chris is gonna show from Scarlett," Sammy said. "It looks like he wants to mess up the finalists and their helpers..."
"Maybe he won't show anything?" Amy suggested. "I mean, it's not like Scarlett and Harold were that close to begin with."
The shot cut back to a smiling Chris. "Oh, don't worry, I have no intention of leaving those guys out of all this fun," he said happily.
"I don't see how," Scarlett said. "Harold already knows everything about me now. I’m practically an open book."
Chris laughed. "Seems you forgot that the cameras are always on. So here's some more juicy information that everybody gets to hear." The screen on the TV went from static to a scene from the fifth episode.
Scarlett herself grabbed the dueling stick Ella retrieved, fished an electric eel out of the water, and tossed it to Max. "Max!" she cried, and her teammates looked at her in confusion, prompting her to pretend that she had coughed. "Pardon me!"
“The plan was for Max to be the only one not in the trap, so the team would know he built it and vote him off!” Scarlett confessed.
"I overheard Leshawna and Harold's conversation when they were foraging together, and Leshawna being on to me is something that I refuse to let happen," Scarlett claimed. “Zee's really gullible enough to deceive, and I'll try to talk to Ella.”
A deep, dramatic note was struck over a shot of Harold in shock. "So it was you who got Leshawna eliminated!" he scowled in Scarlett's direction.
"I wasn't ready to come out just yet, and between the two of you, you were less likely to warn anyone about me!" Scarlett retorted.
"So all this time, Scarlett was aiming to usurp her master!" Max ranted.
"I don't blame her," Leshawna commented. “As much of a pain as she is, I would've done the same thing and sent your annoying behind home.”
"Okay," Chris said happily as the shot moved onto him, "I'm sensing some major hostility and I'm liking it. I'm out of popcorn, though, so we should probably get back to the challenge."
"Seriously?!" the finalists and helpers alike exclaimed.
"Obviously, the helpers aren't gonna be very helpful anymore," Chris replied. "So, instead of helpers, Jo and Scarlett will now be hinderers." As he spoke, Chef walked back into view with a pair of video game controllers, tossing one each to Scarlett and Jo. "The island is now back online," Chris continued, "and, with these controllers, they will be able to throw up obstacles to throw you down, or, completely crush you."
The shot cut to Scarlett as she looked at her controller and smirked. "Good to know."
"Looking forward to it," Jo said in determination.
Harold and Zee gulped, and Chris laughed. "That was the good part," he said. "Let me tell you the bad part. You have ten minutes to finish this challenge," he told Zee and Harold. "If neither of you do, Scarlett and Jo get to split the money."
"Dude, what?" Zee said in shock.
"You can't do that!" Harold protested.
"I can! I will! I am! GO!" Chris announced, blowing his airhorn right in Chef's face, earning an annoyed sigh from the man. Harold and Zee immediately ran off, but the camera cut to a close-up of a thoughtful Jo.
"Well...I want the money, but I'm not really comfortable with how this is set up," Jo said to herself. "But...I guess it wouldn't be too bad if I just made this a little more challenging for them..."
"Do what you want," Scarlett said, the camera panning over to show her grinning darkly with her controller in hand. "I'm getting my justice."

“And I thought I was an underhanded person,” Jo mentioned to herself. “Velma has less morals than me and Gnome Master.”

"I was snubbed in the last episode," Scarlett confessed. "And now that I've been given permission, I can stop the finalists from winning without getting electrocuted!" She pulled out the remote from the seventh episode. "I don't even need this device. I have a controller to do the job for it."

A few quick drum taps opened up a deep and dangerous challenge theme, the scene returning to Zee and Harold sprinting across the open field only to gape in shock as the pine trees in the background starting launching like rockets.
"What the heck?" Harold said. "Rocket trees?"
One landed right behind them, forcing both finalists to roll forward out of the way. "This island is wild!" Zee cried as the two continued running, more and more trees landing behind them like massive spears.
The two were shown together in a brief close-up, raising their eyebrows in surprise. A quick-pan ahead revealed the landscape changing, trees and rock formations rising up out of the artificial ground to form a large, dense barrier.
Harold jumped ahead of Zee as they climbed over the first big rock formation.
Zee vaulted downward and dashing forward along a lower 'path' among the rocks. Just as he was about to jump down onto grass, however, a boulder shot upward – and he landed on it groin-first. A close-up showed him letting out a high-pitched squeal of pain.
Harold's wince drew the camera's attention back upward to show him leaping from a boulder and grabbing onto the branch of a tree, only for the tree to suddenly shoot back down into the ground – causing him to yell as it dragged him down and slammed him back-first onto a fallen log.
Zee gave him a quick concerned glance as he jumped onto the same log, then upwards onto a rock formation before climbing onward and to the right and out of sight.
The scene cut back to the hinderers, both still working their controllers with Scarlett still looking considerably happier about it. "No need to change what works," Jo said uncertainty.
"What happened to that cutthroat attitude you've been displaying?" Scarlett asked. "Don't throw it away when I can get something out of it. And lower some of those trees. They're giving them too much cover from this storm I'm whipping up."
The camera panned onto the monitor to show Zee and Harold struggling against a powerful wind as they walked through what looked like a dense forest as leaves, dust, branches, and various small woodland animals blew past them.
A focus on the monitor's screen transitioned the scene back to the challenge. "I think...I can see the finish line in the distance," Zee said, pausing for a moment as he struggled against the intense gale.
"They're not making this easy on us," Harold commented.
The pair briefly passed behind a thick and mossy pine tree, the camera zooming in slightly as they reappeared. "Would you?" Zee asked.
"...I guess not," Harold answered after a moment.
The shot cut back to the Peanut Gallery to show them watching with worry and anticipation. "C'mon, Harold," Leshawna spoke. "Just hang in there."
"I know you can win this, Zee," Julia said. "You deserve it after everything."
Then the camera cut back to the hinderers, Chris standing next to their monitor with his hands behind his back and a smile on his face. "Ooh! They're getting close!" he said excitedly, prompting Scarlett to scowl and Jo to frown.
Once more the scene moved back to the finalists, their arms raised to buffer themselves against the winds – snow beginning to fall and lightning beginning to crack in the background - with Harold in the lead. "Two minutes left!" Chris called out over the island's loudspeaker. "Two minutes!"
"I...," Harold said with glee. "I think I can make it!"
"Not if I can help it!" Zee shouted, speeding up as the dense trees around him and Harold began to recede into the ground – and the tense and dangerous challenge music resumed. "If I win, me and Julia can go out and change the world together."
"I have to win this," Harold told him. "I've been undervalued and looked down on by my peers, friends, and even my family. I need to prove my might."
The snowy ground below their feet began to crack. A hollow sound played, then all at once, the ground shot up under them, earning startled yells from both. The shot soon cut to the new peak they were standing on rising up into the sky, then stopping.
"Drats..." Zee muttered, both finalists looking down with wide eyes. his final word echoed as the camera zoomed out, revealing the snowy mountain they were now at the top of.
The Peanut Gallery was shown gasping, as were Jo, though Scarlett was smiling as their misfortune. "Twenty seconds left...!" Chris said as the camera moved on to him looking at his watch.
The shot cut back to Harold. "I guess it's over," he sighed. “Scarlett wins after all.”
Zee noticed a bulge in the snow beside him. The boy shoved his hand into it and pulled out the phone Duncan stole from Chris. "I don't know how this got here, but we have to get down. Start stomping the ground."
Harold nodded and stomped on the ground at his feet, and after a few cracks, Zee hurled the phone down, breaking the device apart. Their eyes widened as the mountain began to crumble under them, and the ground imploded in on itself.
"Six! Five!" Chris began to count off, the music cutting out save for a single plodding note to highlight each number. "Four!" The camera panned onto the television, showing both finalists tumbling through the snow and rock. "Three! Two! One!" The shot cut to the finish banner, then zoomed out to show the avalanche stopping just under it – with neither finalist in sight. "GAME OVER!" he announced, blowing on his airhorn as a subdued but triumphant riff played.
Jo stood up in surprise, and Scarlett started cheering.
"My mission was a success!" Scarlett said in victory. “Now hand over my well-deserved prize!”
"Congratulations Jo and Scarlett," Chris said with his usual smile. "Revenge is sweetest-" he glanced at the monitor- "ohhhhh, what have we here?" he said with a sudden look of shock, the music cutting out as he pointed at the television screen.
A sharp note played as a familiar hand stuck out of the snow lying just past the finish line and waved. Scarlett's jaw dropped in shock, and Jo let out a sigh of relief.
The scene cut to the finish line, the camera pulling back a little ways as Chef walked up with a stretcher, dressed as a female nurse. Leshawna ran onscreen and pushed him out of the way. Chef flew off frame with a shout, and Leshawna grabbed the arm and pulled, freeing a shocked and snowy Harold from the aftermath of the avalanche. "Oh," he groaned, looking around as Leshawna dropped him on the stretcher, "what happened?" he asked as the victorious music began to play again with much more enthusiasm.
"You won, Ginger Baby!" Leshawna answered with a smile, the camera pulling out even more to show Harold looking back at the finish banner.
"I did it!" Harold said excitedly. "Harold Norbert Cheever Doris McGrady V has claimed victory! Boo yah!" he raised his arms and cheered, the shot cutting away to show all of the Peanut Gallery cheering.
“We weren't able to talk to each other as much, and it's clear we like each other as more than just friends, but how about we hang out a little bit back home and see where things go?” Leshawna suggested.
“As long as we don't rush into a committed relationship, I'd like that,” Harold smiled back.
The camera panned to the left to show Julia frantically pulling a dazed and half-conscious Zee from the rest of the avalanche, and picking him up onto her back.
"Julia," Zee said weakly, "I'm sorry that I-"
"Be quiet," Julia said with a weak smile as she carried her boyfriend over to the stretcher and set him down next to Harold. "You need to rest."
"But-" Zee tried to say.
He was cut off by Julia grabbing his head and kissing him full on the lips. "You didn’t win the money, but we can still provide for the world in our own ways, and with the power of love," she said with a smile as she broke the kiss, leaving Zee looking dopey.
The capstone theme began to play as the footage skipped ahead to a shot of the open sky, the double-rotored helicopter soon flying up into view. "That's it for this very, very off season," Chris began, standing in the open doorway with Zee and Julia sitting on the edge letting their legs dangle freely with Julia leaning into Zee; Harold and Scarlett standing on either side of Chris, the latter annoyed and the former grinning while holding the suitcase full of money to his chest; and the rest of the cast, crouching down and peering over in the gaps between and behind the rest, constantly jockeying for position as they tried to get one last shot of themselves on camera.
"This is Chris McLean, saying if you can't stand the pain-" the handsome host continued, the shot cutting in closer- "stay off the Total! Drama! Paaaahkitew Island!"
"RE-VENGE!" Max suddenly yelled from behind Scarlett, shoving her out of the helicopter, and the brainiac screamed as she fell.
The camera lingered on the dumbfounded looks of Chris and the other ex-campers, all of them staring at Max in shock. "This is how a traitor should be rewarded," he said, crossing his arms and closing his eyes defiantly.
The ex-campers and host burst out laughing, and a fun and energetic tune started to play. The camera panned over to the windshield to show Chef laughing along with the rest of the cast from the pilot's seat, and the helicopter flew away.
The music soon faded away, though, and the scene quick-panned down to show a screaming Scarlett landing in the giant mud puddle. She quickly surfaced with a shocked splutter, and pulled herself out onto dry land. "How am I going to get home now because of those imbeciles?!"
A few ominous notes were struck, and a ferocious growl caught Scarlett's attention. She looked up, and the camera zoomed out to show Scuba Bear 2.0 standing over her, eyes red. "Heheh," the brainiac laughed nervously. "You're not going to hurt me are you?"
The scene abruptly cut outward to the full long-distance shot of the island, the ominous music ending as Scarlett's scream and Scuba Bear's snarl echoed across the lake.

Some Context: During college. I was in a town about 1.5 hours away from home. My dad lost his job and we were short on funds.
I had a psycho roommate who was making my life living hell so I slowly started sleeping in the library at night.
Eventually he forced me out and I didn't have the heart to tell my parents to get me a new place especially as my grades were dropping. So I just slept in the library under bright fluorescent lights on a small dirty couch for 4 nights a week (I used to come home for weekends). Sometimes I used to find random places to stay up, and I used to sleep in the library on the couch during the day even though it was loud and raucous.
Sometimes I just used to sleep on a chair.
Eventually I just stayed up all night in the library, and found another couch in a quieter part of another building where I used to sleep during the day.
I did this for about 2 years intermittently. Sometimes I slept in a friend's bed in their dorm. I think I always managed to get about 4-5 hours of sleep and definitely slept a lot on the weekends when I was home.
I never slept outside on a park bench or anything... even for a day.
I want to know how this would have impacted my cognition and my brain.
To be fair, my long term memory is solid and phenomenal. My biggest achievements have all come after this episode. My salary is over 200k...
But I'm failing to perform at my job. I'm having extreme anger at those who mistreated me to the point where I start flailing my arms in public imagining me standing up to them even though it's been 10 years.
I routinely forget where I kept my phone, wallet or keys. I'm bad with following step by step instructions.
How do I know if there was any impact to my cognitive faculties and to my brain? And more importantly how can I be sharp and recover? Is there any chance for recovery?

Not trauma like hair loss or receding hairline or anything. I mean trauma from getting my hair done. I know it’s not a therapy group, so i’m asking for advice on how you all have dealt with what i’ve gone through. When i was younger my mom used to do my hair and braids. Eventually she got tired of it because I am extremely tender headed, so she left me to do it on my own for 2 years. I was around… 9-12? I was always picked on for my hair, but it even hurt to the touch. I was also using relaxers. It was when i was 16 i stopped using relaxers and i see amazing progress, however, the pain is almost unbearable. Ever since 7th grade, when i started going to actual salaons, they’d comb out of fustration. They’d yell at me, get mad at me, and i never knew what to do. I started finally detangling before i go. Learned to blow dry and still learning how to straighten, but the experience remains the same. It hurts so bad it gives me actual trauma. I have nightmares about my natural hair 💀. It’s stupid, but it’s true. Anxiety attacks and actual depression. It sucks but i don’t wanna live like this forever… what can i do? -How can i properly detangle my hair so that its straight and does not hurt when being parted - How can i make wash day and stuff a little easier on me and my scalp? and pls.. i know some people think being tender is for children.. it really very much is real. i’ve heard to suck it up and be a woman. But that’s the part that feeds into the depression. Anyways, thanks for reading :)

3rd and hopefully last update here.
I decided that I am not visiting. My husband dropped off a care package that I made for her a few days ago, and I texted her some well wishes. That’s literally all I can muster. Since then (yesterday, my bday) my mom, who I haven’t spoken to in months and ideally would be NC with, texted me from my grandmas phone because apparently my grandma was unable to text, and from her own phone, that 1- my uncle needed to know if the care package was from me (my name and husband and child’s names are on it.. it was obvious, so I don’t know why this was a question and why it had to be asked through my mom), and 2- (multiple times over the last 2 days) that I need to visit my grandma because the doctors said it’s ‘so important’ and ‘part of her therapy’. Me, specifically. Who my grandma has ignored for the past 6 months aside from accidentally texting me gossip about me. My mom also sent me flowers for my birthday and I sent her a picture to thank her and she got upset because they weren’t what she ordered. Which is somewhat irrelevant but it just makes me realize how literally no interaction can be positive with her.
My grandma is miraculously able to text today, and texted me that she misses my son and some other stuff but nothing about the basket or wanting me to visit. She’s being discharged in a few days. I cannot bring my son with me to the rehab center bc of the visiting policy. I do not want to use the 2 hours in the evening that my husband is home to bring everyone to visit a person who has dragged my whole family through the mud for decades.
At this point I’m considering just blocking my mom and anyone who continues to pressure me to visit. This situation has gotten completely out of control, I have no idea why I’m now the center of their drama. There’s nothing I can tell them about why I’m not visiting that they’ll accept, and I’m sure even if I visit daily it won’t be enough, so I’m wondering if I should say something before I block them.

Hello everyone I am a female student who moved to abroad for studying leaving my homecountry India in the hope of finding and getting a good future. I am in my first year and the situation now is that my 2nd semester is not clear and in september new year will get start. I was not able to give my few exams beacuse of my part time job as a Bachelors's student in Latvia and health issues as I got infection.
Now I am currently in greece for Internship and my contract period will end by 15th sep. My Temporary Residence Permit will expire by 24th of october.
What should I do now cuzz I can't take money from my family and I have to arrange everything on my own studies,living expenses and everything.
I can't do the 1st year again that's doesn't make sense tho. Sould I return back to India but that will gonna be regret for my whole life or continue my studies again or should move to any other country and as my rp will expire will it gonna create legal issues.
Don't know what to do I need everyone's help any best possible solutions for now without any legal issues and if how to handle it..... Hoping a lot from....

I’ve told people that our theme is fall/autumnal and we are looking to mainly decorate with flowers and pumpkins using dark reds, oranges, cream and gold as our color theme.
I do also plan to use mostly flowers/pumpkins that we grow but that idea was decided after the theme was settled upon.
Now I told some family members what the plan is and they offered to help look for decor and two of the three of them both separately (they do not talk to each other) decided that meant we are going for something rustic.
But I wasn’t? I was really looking to do something with a vintage ‘gilded age’ feel to it and rustic was not what I pictured. And those people didn’t even know I’m planning to use things from my own garden (which is the most rustic feeling part of it to me!)
Does a fall theme using flowers and pumpkins just scream rustic and I’m out of the loop? Is it just rustic in general to theme around a season or botanicals?
Have I typed and said the word rustic in my head so many times now that something about it feels off? The answer is yes 😂

Yesterday I decided to tackle Re-Cataloguing all my vinyl, I spent 8 hours yesterday and only got about 1/3 of the way through. I had to change a lot of records to the correct variant, I’ve also been adding the state of Media and Sleeve, any damage, hype stickers, etc.
Now I’m separating the ones that need a good cleaning from the clean ones, changing sleeve covers, adding protective inner sleeves.
Not sure how to organize them yet, so far I’ve been trying to keep artists together, I may sort by genre.
I see at least 3 to 4 more days before my whole collection is catalogued.
I also removed the records my ex husband took from my collection, for the most part he took ones that aren’t worth much, the only one that hurt was a sealed 1st pressing of “George Michael’s - Faith”.
The rest I can easily repurchase.

Yuji is special grade level and has potential to be the strongest
I am going over a series of bullet points then explain more in depth with what he may be able to learn to really convince you that much like how I covered Mahito before if Yuji reaches his full potential he’d be the strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Major point 1: He matched Yuta while Yuta had a stat buff in his domain in their fight with Sukuna. And no Yuji wasn't playing support either he helped restrain Sukuna and was throwing straight hands combining his attacks with Yuta. Mind you this was before he awakened and began landing black flashes.
Major point 2: Yuji has lasted longer than basically anyone in the Sukuna battle. Aside right after the Yuta fight where he had to take a minute to heal he’s had the longest time fighting Sukuna. More than Yuta, Choso, Maki, Kashimo. I get Sukuna has not been giving Yuji his full attention every second and we can’t put all the credit on Yuji but it speaks volumes for how strong Yuji is.
Major Point 3: It’s stated verbatim Yuji has the potential to rival Sukuna by Sukuna’s Femboy and Gojo thought Yuji had the potential to surpass him.
Major Point 4: Yuji is very new even still. At max he had a month to learn blood manipulation AND shrine. And he had to stack that with soul swapping with Yuta and Kusakabe while learning RCT and simple domain. Give him more time to properly use convergence, have him take time to mimic things Choso once did while he was alive, maybe he pulls a Choso and remembers the two brothers he once killed and take wing king for himself. And shrine you don’t have to get me started.
Major Point part 5: Yuji has had the most training of anyone in this series under the largest variety of masters. Choso, Gojo, Kusakabe and Yuta, Todo, Nanami. Who else gets this level of training. Yuji lives by their will and their teachings all of them are high level combatants. Yuji is kinda crazy.
Minor Point 1: Yuji has two really good CT’s . Blood manipulation he has rct to help with and shrine. He’s not the best with either of these but they definitely help rise his stocks.
Minor Point 2: He is chosen by the sparks of black and is alone the only character in JJK that has the ability to throw black flashes at will with the highest level of black flashes in a row and highest level of black flashes overall in history. This shows Yuji is already a master of a hight in jujutsu that obviously being Black Flashes. Gojo and Sukuna may have domain expansion but they can’t claim to be able to black flash like Itadori can.
Now then with major bullet points and minor ones at the way. Can Yuji REALLY surpass Gojo and Sukuna- yes. He’s been stated that he can surpass Gojo by Satoru himself and Sukuna’s femboy acknowledged that Yuji could be equal to Sukuna. He has been a jujutsu sorcerer for less than a full year and has reached the peak of what may be able to do with a black flash.
Yuji already has a crazy growth rate. Understanding how to use cursed energy very fast and went from getting bodies by a Finger Bearer before cursed energy to throwing hands evenly with Mahito in goodwill. Yuji has went from getting kinda bullied by Yuta holding back to actually shocking 15F Meguna with how strong he was.
He has grown insanely already and has awakened as a jujutsu sorcerer just like how Gojo once did. Even still Yuji lacks a domain expansion but what if he just… gets one there is endless possibilities for Yuji’s domain expansion so it could be extremely busted maybe even more so than Gojo or Sukuna. Maybe it’s open barrier as well. He’s also got banger H2H skills even more so than Kenjaku or Gojo who before were noted as JJK’s best in H2H.
Yuji is stronger than let’s be honest most of the verse with better feats than most characters even before his awakening. Like I said keeping up with Yuta inside his domain meaning he has a stat amp inside his own domain. This makes Yuji stronger than a majority of the verse physically. This alone strength wise puts him on the special grade level at least physically. Now this is before black flashes not being in the zone or anything. Give Yuji a few years, use him post his awakening, he can use black flash at will, has a shit load of experience and skill now, he has mastered blood manipulation and shrine, he now has an open barrier domain possibly, he has a simple domain, he has reverse cursed technique. Nobody could step to Yuji.
Sadly there isn’t more to say about this aside he could learn some more abilities maybe even unlock a maximum technique while he’s at it. He could unlock more info on the soul perhaps and train his soul so that way if he ever meets Mahito like people again we know for a fact he’s safe.
Sadly while there isn’t a lot to go into Yuji definitely would surpass Gojo and Sukuna if he got time to truly let himself grow he’s already the strongest character in physical outside them most likely.
Now to watch the world burn MWHAHAHAHAHA

I did this for about 2 years intermittently. Sometimes I slept in a friend's bed in their dorm. I think I always managed to get about 4-5 hours of sleep and definitely slept a lot on the weekends when I was home.
I never slept outside on a park bench or anything... even for a day.
I want to know how this would have impacted my cognition and my brain.
To be fair, my long term memory is solid and phenomenal. My biggest achievements have all come after this episode. My salary is over 200k...
But I'm failing to perform at my job. I'm having extreme anger at those who mistreated me to the point where I start flailing my arms in public imagining me standing up to them even though it's been 10 years.
I routinely forget where I kept my phone, wallet or keys. I'm bad with following step by step instructions.
How do I know if there was any impact to my cognitive faculties and to my brain?

I started having a crush on my bf when we were both in 11th grade. We were both a year older than the other kids so we were already 18. Like every person who has a crush on someone, I started fantasizing about him. Holding hands, hugging, kissing and other things. He was running around my mind the whole time.
We were both part of a group of friends consisting of both girls and guys, so that's how I started getting to know him. I can't remember how we started talking about sex but in a conversation he said that he's not a virgin, which absolutely crushed one of my dreams. I wanted my first time to be with a virgin guy. I was a little surprised because he didn't really seem like the type of person to already have done something like that. He's very childish and didn't seem that interested in anything other than his friends and playing games. It honestly crushed me and made me rethink the whole situation.
We eventually started dating at the beginning of December 2021. Within the first week i asked him about the "not being a virgin" thing. (Yes, I know it's not really a good thing to talk about so early in the relationship). He told me that he wasn't a virgin but has only done it twice with only one girl in the past. He told me every last detail: why, how and where it happened. They never dated, they just had fun together. Those details ended up making me even more sad.
He ended up taking my virginity about a month later. After seeing a photo of this girl, it was clear that she had a more mature face than me and a more attractive body than me. You know, bigger breasts and hips. She was posing in the photos and it was clear that she wasn't insecure at all.
I was never insecure about my body. I was fine with my breast size and I don't see myself as fat, but I am insecure about my wide hips and masculine shoulders. After seeing her picture I always find myself comparing myself to her and I fear that my bf is doing the same, even though he has told me many times that I have a beautiful body and that he loves it.
I am not a seductive person. Any time I'm in the mood I won't initiate anything untill it's clear my bf is in the mood aswell. I read through messages between my bf and his friends. They were from a long time ago but he was telling them how much it turned him on when he and this girl were spooning and she would start rubbing against him. I was questioning weither he finds me boring since I don't try to be seductive at all. In short, she has a more open sex drive than me and I fear it's effecting how he feels about me.
Not only am I sad that I'm not his "first" because it crushed my dream, but it made me very insecure about myself and our relationship. Not being his "first" haunts me still and I feel even worse knowing that the girl who was his "first" is much more attractive than me.
He doesn't really like talking about her since his experience with her was a huge regret, but due to other events I fear he stills thinks about her.

I broke up with my on again off again boyfriend since middle school nearly three years ago. He and I were best friends/dating for 12+ years. We were each others first kiss in 6th grade, and we loved each other all the way up until our senior year of college. We used write each other poems, he’d get me build a bears with his voice in it, we’d write each other notes in the sand in the beach, he bought me Louis Vuitton and Gucci when we were in college, and so much other little things that don’t really matter, but still mean a lot to me to this day. Until the last year or so, our relationship was literally like a movie. I could talk about it for hours. I miss those days. I think of them fondly.
I won’t go into major details about our break up, but just know it was one of those breakups where you feel forced to break up with them because they completely changed/started to treat you different. Let’s pretend his name is Tommy. I didn’t want to break up with Tommy. I ADORED Tommy. Like, literally would sometimes cry while thinking of him because of how much love and care I had in my heart for him. We had been in a long distance relationship, close distance, everything in between. His family loved me, and mine loved him. My family toook him to Key West, Disney World, the beach, and so much more. Tommy was like my parents son. When we broke up, I completely lost myself. I would give up my body to guys just so they could spend the night so I could have somebody to sleep beside. Writing this is bringing me close to tears, because I truly regret doing that. I obviously was lost, until I meet this great guy who I dated for about a year. I ended up breaking up with him too because I resented him for making me unfollow Tommy and his family on social media, talking badly about him, etc.
About 6 months after I broke up with Tommy, I found out he had been telling people I “emotionally cheated on him” which is not true whatsoever. He made me look like the “bad guy” (probably because he was hurt) and all of our mutual friends from childhood, boys and girls, no longer speak to me. Meanwhile, I had only been speaking highly of him and wanted to still be friends, I even considered our break up a “break” at this point. So, naturally, to hear such a blatant and nasty lie was very hurtful. To think he was telling others I cheated on him when all I wanted to do was love him unconditionally was not a good feeling. I shrugged this off ike I didnt care, but I do. Now, I believe the lie and believe maybe I am the bad guy for breaking up with him. Also during this time, I found out Tommy was diagnosed with heart failure at the age of 22. We are both 24 now. If he does not get a transplant soon, he will die. This has been confirmed by a FB post from his mother. When I found out, I once again told myself I didn’t care. A few months later, I had a total breakdown one evening and told my parents I can’t handle it. Against my best judgement and normal character, I caved and texted him for the first time since we broke up. I said something along the lines of “Hey Tommy, this is xxxx. I wanted to lyk you are in my prayers and of course my family. If you ever need anything at all we are all here for you”. Send. No reply. Frantically a few days later, again against my character, I texted him again. I said something like “If you want me to leave you alone I will please just let me know what you want me to do”. Send. No reply. Damn, thats still gut wrenching to think about.
Here two years after his diagnosis, and three years after our breakup, I would be kidding myself if I didn’t admit that I dream of him every night, think of him at least once a day, and regret ever leaving him even though I know it was the right thing to do. Sometimes I wonder if he never got the diagnosis, if I would be over our break up now. The anxiety I feel daily about the fear of him dying is nearly unbearable. I have a new boyfriend now whom I feel like I neglect because of this entire situation, and I truly don’t know how to fix it. Every time I get a memory on social media, it’s of him since we were together for so long. All my major memories in my life (firsts, proms, graduations, vacations, etc) are with/of him. I feel like I can’t escape it. I’ve tried to forget and that just seems to have made things worse because I feel like I never gave myself time to heal. At this point, I feel like I should be healed. I am starting to get scared that this is going to affect me long term, and that I will never get over it. Some days it bothers me a lot (like today, to which I had to write for advice to strangers on the internet) and other days I rarely think of it at all. I have a family history of mental illness, and I every so often think of suicide even though I know realistically I’d never do it. I’m currently taking Buspar after being on Prozac for 15+ years. Advice is appreciated. I sincerely thank you if you read this far.
TLDR- I broke up with my first love 3 years ago and still think of him nearly daily. I think part of this is due to the fact that he is now unexpectedly dying from heat failure, and I live in constant fear that he will pass any day now. Please help with tips on how to get over this/how to move forward.

Looking for advice/thoughts on setting up ClickUp to manage both work projects and "life admin." I'm using the Personal Workspace Layout and have no collaborators.
I know that it's helpful to start as simply as possible and add complexity as it becomes actually needed. The thing is, I'm importing a few projects already underway (plus a lot of small tasks of varying value), and want to avoid defaulting to my familiar old systems without assessing whether they're actually working for me, or are a good fit for ClickUp.
Assess my setup and give me feedback on where to go from here! I've included a ton of detail on my current setup below. If it's TL;DR, my more general question is: Tell me how you set up ClickUp to handle both work and life admin projects. How are you using categories, status, priorities, tags, and task types? I'm having trouble figuring out how to use them, especially since there seems to be a lot of potential overlap between them. Or, what advice do you have for migrating to ClickUp with a couple complex projects already underway, plus a lot of small tasks?
For context, here's how I have ClickUp set up right now. It's pretty simple but I'm still not clear whether it's the right approach (and FYI, I'm not wedded to it at all), plus there are still lots of components that don't neatly fit anywhere in my current setup:

• I have ClickUp divided into three spaces: Active Projects (multi-step projects with clear outcomes and/or deliverables), Areas of Focus (task lists divided up by a broader work or life "area"), plus a space I'm ignoring where archived projects and messy old things live..
  • Under Active Projects, I have folders for each class I'll be teaching (and because it's summer, right now they're split into prep work for upcoming classes, and wrap-up for the couple last to-do items left over from the spring).
  • Under Areas of Focus, I tend to keep lists of professional admin and personal life admin tasks that aren't part of a larger project (like paying bills or rent.

Next, there are a few different types of things I'm trying to plan and keep track of. As mentioned, I'm not really sure how I should be thinking about them through the framework of categories, status, priorities, tags, and task types.

• Active projects with a specific, concrete outcome. Mostly these projects are longer-term things, sometimes with several potential paths they could take depending on results of earlier tasks, but other times they're just 1-2wk projects that have lots of little steps I need to keep track of. Some real-life examples on my list right now:
  1. Work: Set up a class I'll be teaching in the fall. I need to do a bunch of prep work for this, some of which is pretty clear (set up course homepage and revise syllabus to include XYZ things; revise grade breakdown using these rules, & implement breakdown in Canvas), and other of which is fairly inchoate (e.g. review these five texts and decide which to teach; find an open-source subject-specific text; refine course structure as needed based on the texts I end up using). Then, there are semi-ongoing tasks that will come into play once I'm actually teaching the class (e.g. prep/review the thing I'll be teaching next week; set up assignments due next week so they're ready to go when the start date rolls around; grade assignments X, Y, Z; a weekly review of the syllabus & update deadlines as needed). Then wrap-up tasks that happen pretty routinely at the end of the semester, and one-off "respond to X's grade query email" type tasks. (Many of these things could be part of a template, but I don't need to cross that bridge yet.) How to organize the giant project of "put together, teach, and wrap up X class"? What's the relationship between the big project full of kinda sequential steps and the small "Answer X email" tasks that I mostly put into a project manager so I don't forget about them?
  2. Work: Various small professional development projects that in the past I've thought of as a series of sequential tasks, e.g. "Apply for X grant" (in this case, small individual artist grants for $1k-$20k, not big, collaboratively-written NSF grants). Under "Apply..." is a list of five different pieces I need to put together, one or two of which will need multiple rounds of refinement, while the rest will be relatively quick and easy. This type of project usually comes together in a couple weeks or less, and typically I'll have several active at once. (I usually have a dozen others on my radar at any given moment, but only decide to apply for 1-2 at any time. I keep up with these deadlines via a Google Sheet and a sticky note on my Mac desktop, and in the past only brought them into a project manager once I'd committed to a specific deadline-driven thing, or if I needed a reminder to check on one that has a deadline that varies annually.)
  3. Personal: Research summer travel possibilities, map out a timeline that fits scheduling constraints and mode of travel (one subtask that's a small project in and of itself: research buying a fiberglass camper shell for truck, & if that makes sense to do we'll drive, otherwise we'll fly or take the train). This is still in the research stage, so there aren't many actual tasks yet, but will be in a month or so.
  4. Avocational: Facilitate a large, slow-moving bylaws revision project for an organization I'm involved with. I'm at the beginning stages of this one, but have a pretty good idea of the different stages of this project and what the path to completion will look like. It'll be a big project once it gets off the ground, but for now it's just in the "assembling ideas" stage.
• Ongoing & one-off tasks with varying priority levels (e.g. things I need to do regularly vs. things I'd like to do regularly but don't necessarily get to).
  • Necessary Tasks like paying rent and bills, which are typically pretty straightforward and non-negotiable. Also things like updating the finances spreadsheet I share with my partner, which ideally happens weekly but which realistically I don't get around to more than once a month if that.
  • One-Off Tasks that start cropping up, especially once the semester is underway (e.g. "Answer X email"). Some of these are essential, others don't need to happen (but should for a smoother semester), and plenty are totally optional but worth doing if I have the time. When I'm bogged down, I don't want to think about those totally optional tasks at all, but when I'm feeling pretty unencumbered, they're worth tending to.
• Other things I can't figure out how to classify/organize:
  • Backburner tasks & projects, both work-related and life admin. (How to label and filter backburner tasks that I need to do "soon" vs. "eventually" vs. "maybe, someday, who even knows"?)
    • Some of these are important but not yet active (e.g. applying for that aforementioned grant, for instance, which I don't need to actively think about until next spring when the deadline approaches, though I do often start drafting/refining materials in advance, so it's nice to have a clear holding place for those).
    • Others are aspirational (for instance, "Organize the garage" is a backburner task that will turn into a full project once I start working on it & actually identifying specific subtasks, e.g. put specific thing on FB Marketplace, or buy a set of storage bins). I'd like to clearly delineate between this sort of thing; I don't need to see "Organize the garage" unless I'm doing a big review of the backburner items once a month or so and moving a handful into active projects/tasks.
  • Mosquito tasks: These tasks should happen "soon" or "eventually," but they're not urgent and if they end up never being completed at all, that's usually nbd. Realistically I might do them in the next couple weeks, but probably not in the next few days. These kinds of tasks are helpful to keep in ClickUp so they stay on my radar (and one benefit of that is that for a task like "Email so-and-so to ask X question," I'll often end up drafting half an initial email in a comment, then forgetting about it for a few weeks and coming back to find that email already half-drafted). Mosquito tasks include:
    • Reminders (to check on an important or not-so-important upcoming professional deadline that hasn't been posted yet, & to keep doing this until that concrete deadline appears, at which point it turns into an actual task; upcoming birthday reminders; to get a book back from someone who'd borrowed it, etc).
    • Personal CRM, my most frequent mosquito task. I've done fieldwork around the world and consider keeping in touch with friends/colleagues/informants from faraway as part of my professional responsibilities (but not urgent whatsoever), so I like to keep these things on my radar without letting them distract me from my active, necessary tasks & projects.
    • Ideas, possibilities, and other inchoate things that ended up in ClickUp when I migrated from Todoist, some of which are basically just notes-to-self, and other of which are smaller tasks/projects that I may someday pick back up, all of which I feel sentimental about and don't want to get rid of even though I'm not going to sort through them regularly. These pretty clearly fall under "backburner" and "maybe, someday, who even knows." (Should I break the "Not Started" status into "Backburner: eventually" and "Backburner: maybe, someday, who knows" to delineate these?) Feel free to ignore this category!
  • A Morning/Evening Routine that should reset every day, regardless of whether I've checked every item off from the previous day. (This is probably the only sort of task I want to reset like this, and honestly it's pretty low-priority.)

Give me advice on how to organize all these things, please! Or just tell me about your ClickUp setup for work and life admin projects! Or give me advice for migrating to ClickUp with a bunch of tasks and a couple complex projects already underway, rather than starting from complete scratch!

Recently I've had 3 different parents that have found the post and were in the same situation, inboxing for an update/solution, so I decided to make an update post in case more parents are looking for answers. Sorry I took so long. I know the despair you feel. I assure you it will get better if you persevere. This is an extremely long post, so I have bolded the several topics, in case you don't want to read everything, so they are easier to find.
To update on my son's situation: He's now 1y and 7 months. He is allergic to milk and he has a combination of cradle cap and eczema. In addition to this, he was also born with Hydronephrosis (enlarged kidneys) which means he is limited in the medication that he's allowed to take (no ipobrufren, as an example)
The Cradle Cap situation has improved by itself, mainly by just carrying on with what we were doing. We use the Frida Flake Fixer treatment and a cradle cap shampoo (Dentinox). We've also been advised not to wash his head every day, leave it 1 or 2 days (one doctor even said once a week). For the cuts, the best thing was indeed a Vaseline barrier to help the raw skin heal. Even though it definitely stinks, the healing is the most important part. I would put Vaseline on his scalp the day before a bath, do the treatment with the Frida Brush and then I would rub a Baby Scalp Oil (Colief) to soften the flakes on the day after the bath; I would put Vaseline on the scalp the next day and he would take a bath the next day, rinse and repeat, until the cuts were healed, and I could ditch the Vaseline step. If the cut was deep I would sometimes apply Sudocream only at night after a bath and the Vaseline was removed and he'd fallen asleep so he wouldn't take it off. He still slept with mittens inside his cuffed babygrow, but he always managed to get one or two fingers out, I kid you not when I say, that sometimes I would sleep holding his hand to prevent him from scratching his head when the wounds here at it's worst. All of these steps have contributed to has improved the cradle cap lot and eventually disappeared in about a month's time. He's going trough a second outbreak now, a year later, but no where near as bad as it was then, he's not scratching himself to death.
The Eczema situation. Right....... this situation has improved for a few good 7-8 months with the Aveeno Baby Dermexa Emollient Cream. I would use it 3 times a day or more to fight of dry skin. The areas where the skin folded were the worst. Arm folds, neck folds, behind the knees, there the eczema would install and spread, That could only be controlled an Hydrocortisoid Cream, 1% w/w. It did eventually disappeared save for one spot -- just behind the right knee. He developed a habit of scratching it with his left foot. But, lets put the Eczema situation on hold for a moment, while we talk about:
The Milk Allergy situation.... Oh Boy..... this is about to get very long.....
In my previous post made at the beginning of May 2023, I stated that my son had been to the A&E (a week before the post) for an allergic reaction to porridge, so he would either be allergic to Milk and/or Gluten. We were told a referral was done to our GP for a visit by an allergy team who would walk us through to process of slowly introducing allergens so that my son would hopefully be able to safely be exposed to them in the future and advised to "only feed him vegetables and fruit". We were given an "prescription" for an antihistamine to continue the treatment and to use as an SOS in case of another allergic reaction in the future. No allergy tests were done for my son at all.
We were told that, it would take a couple of weeks before we were contacted by the allergy team and to contact the GP after two weeks if we hadn't heard from them. We waited a month and nothing. At the end of May, I went to our GP to ask for updates on this situation. Imagine my shock when the GP told me that they didn't even have ANY information about my son being in the A&E. They've spent 1h contacting the hospital to get the paperwork from the A&E that SHOULD have been sent to our GP. In said paperwork, it states that the hospital would like the GP to sort out the allergy appointment. So, no allergy appointment had been made for an entire month and if I hadn't enquired about this situation, the GP would have had no clue about the need to make one because they didn't have the necessary paperwork! I was given an apology and scheduled an "assessment appointment" 2 days later. I enquired about an Antihistamine prescription, since my son was gonna start nursery in a couple of weeks when my maternity leave would end and I needed to provide a bottle for them in case of an allergic reaction, because we still didn't know what my son was allergic to.... Lo and behold, when the GP staff looks at the hospital paperwork, it was stated that no more antihistaminic was necessary, against what we were advised, as we should have one antihistamine as SOS, I had to press the GP to provide us with an prescription (which the lady was very quick to do after seeing me ready to implode regarding this absolute incompetence) so the nursery could have one antihistamine with themselves as we couldn't keep juggling our bottle back and forth with them.
The assessment appointment which basically consisted in 5 mins of asking for details about the allergic reaction, all of which was written in A&E's paperwork and only then being referred to a dietitian's team. I was given no ETA, no info about where it would be, no contact that I could call to at least be put on a waiting list in case of a cancellation, nothing. I was only asked to wait and when confronted, the practitioner admitted that this appointment COULD have been made straight in the hospital's A&E, instead of this ridiculous and time wasting bureaucratic football between the Hospital and the GP.
You might think this was the end of the miscommunication and incompetence.... Oh oh But no,.. of course not!! I waited another month of silence. At the end of June I called the hospital's appointment hotline enquiring about my son's appointment, only to be told that he doesn't have one because a referral hadn't been made yet! I was fuming!! I immediately called the GP who have assured me that a referral has been sent to the hospital's Paediatric and gave me it's referral number and they would enquire....
If you are in the UK like I am and you see that your baby/child is being ignored by your GP / Hospital and not getting the appropriate care, then do as I did and contact PALS near your area. That was the best piece of advice that I have received from people at my local breastfeeding group, and if being a mother has taught me anything, is that sometimes, you will have to be a momma bear (aka Karen to the eyes of the target) and advocate for your child. I work in retail, I despise Karens and I have no wish to be one, I am usually a pushover. But I will not allow anyone to trample on my son's health. And while I do have respect for the NHS, seeing has my brother in law works there, I know damn well, by his own words, that the main problem is not the lack of funds, but the pockets where they go and the terrible disorganization.
At that point I had enough of excuses and I made a complaint to PALS about both the GP and the Hospital. My son was almost 9months and still breastfeeding but eating mostly Vegetables and Fruit as solid food as per A&E'S guidelines, delaying his weaning and feeding development and causing stress with the nursery and our family as we didn't know what he was allergic to and couldn't move on to full meals. I flat out asked them if they were intent on my son completing an entire year of life being fed only Vegetables and Fruit besides breastmilk, and called them out because an 8 month baby should not be put on the back burner over and over again due to the incredibly poor communication between these two organizations and have his health jeopardized. I demanded a resolution ASAP and forward this to the Paediatrician as I did not trust the hospital to be able clearly communicate between their departments and whom I suspected had not been told absolutely nothing regarding all this. Two days later the allergy team specialist rang me to personally and profusely apologise and take the situation under her control and give me her allergy guidelines which I should have been given since the beginning. I was still forced to wait until early July for a allergy test - Milk was found to be the culprit.
I still thank everything that I had enough perseverance to stick with breastfeeding and never, ever, though to look at formula. I tremble to think about the consequences, Even though I'm aware that dairy free formulas exist, me being a 1st time ignorant mother, chances were I could have picked a wrong one. Fortunately I produced more than enough milk and my son had a good latch. Also because my son was not making any allergic reactions to my milk, this meant there was a higher chance that he could grow out of his allergy, as he was still getting enzymes from the dairy that I consumed. From here on, food introduction was a breeze. He's a real foodie, he loves to eat and he loves to eat with us. Adapting our diet was a bit of work, as I have IBS and my husband is diabetic so there might be some foods that will be a trigger or might not be the most ideal to someone in our family, but we managed to strike a good balance. Vegan options do help and we are having fun exploring that.
The problems then came with the nursery. After letting them know that my son was allergic to milk and other things were fine, the cases of allergic reaction in the nursery stated to increase and he started getting very bad reactions. First we suspected cross contamination, then that he might be allergic to something else, but the foods they were saying he was allergic to made absolutely no sense as he was just fine having those at home. We came to the conclusion after several events in the softplay area - that involved no food at all - that the culprit might be their cleaning products and further pressed after two different members of staff said they themselves were allergic to that product - Milton. After several bickerings between us and the nursery and us visiting our origin country for Xmas where my son ate in 4 different household and 5 different restaurant with absolutely no allergy reaction (in comparing to the then daily cases of reaction on the 3 days that he stayed at nursery), we finally convinced the nursery to change their cleaning products - they are now using Sanell. In addiction to prevent cross contamination, my son was given his own high chair, that no other child uses. Happy to say the cases of allergy are nearly non-existent now. His recent blood results also came back with amazingly good improvements, so we got the thumbs up from the Allergy Team and the Paediatrician to start the milk ladder and slowly and gradually adding milk to his diet. Currently he's in stage one and having half a teaspoon of malted milk biscuit daily with no reaction. It will probably still be able two months until he can have a full biscuit, but I can't wait to see his smile when we get to this stage - he loves taking the little piece of my hand.
Because of the back and forth with the nursery and them insisting that the allergic reaction could be due to other foods, the allergy team at the hospital was more concerned with that than his Eczema situation. We had to insist about it, since we suspected the reactions might be Eczema instead, stating that I was still waiting for the promised skin specialist appointment since end of April last year. The lead Team Speciallist, again showed her amazing professionalism and chased up the situation and we finally got our appointment jointly with her and the skin specialist in January of this year. She gave us a few products to try but said that the Eczema situation was relatively controlled. The samples that she gave were:

• Dermol 500 Lotion - we still use this for his bath as a soap substitute
• Adex Gel - kind like an emollient cream, it was ok-ish
• Cetraben Cream - didn't seem to make any difference, but can also be used as a soap substitute so we'll give it a go after Dermol is finished
• Zerodearm Ointment - didn't seem to make any difference, but it has a Vaseline like quality to it, so might try again

About a week after the appointment, my Son had an mild outbreak of Eczema on his legs. We tried several combinations of above products that seemed to temporally control the situation but didn't complete solve it. In Early March of this year the Eczema appeared in his back. He has a huge red birthmark the size of my hand on his back, so that skin is very sensitive. He started to scratch and rub his back against things and it didn't took long to break the skin. It didn't bleed but it was oozing/weeping which would make the skin get stuck to his clothes and then get raw, so no treatment was going to work on that as it would slide off with the oozing/weeping. I despaired then as I had a year ago.
So I went back to the thing that worked last time - Vaseline. This time though, it was on a place that I couldn't exactly leave uncovered. My son was about to do some blood tests so hospital had given us numb cream to put on the inside of his elbows and some clear medical film. He had this done before and I remembered that the film had been resistant enough to keep the cream in and didn't hurt his skin, so I though, maybe I could apply the same theory. So I bought some clear medical film (Tegaderm Film), put a good chunk of Vaseline on the wound and sealed it with the film. I changed this twice or three times a day, depending if he was in the nursery or not. It worked like a charm and it allowed the skin to heal. For reference, the nursery manager, whose son suffers with really bad eczema has suggested me the AproDerm Ointment which also has a Vaseline consistency to it, but my son's situation cleared up before I had to use it.
The skin specialist by then had prescribed a treatment with another hydrocortisoid cream ( Daktacort 2% 1% w/w, needs to be kept refridgerated ) and an emollient cream - Epimax Oatmeal Cream. For the other patches of Eczema (that were not in wound), I would use Daktacord, once in the morning, once in the evening, and I would use Epimax to keep the skin moisturized along the day, whenever I would change a diaper. The skin specialist told us to keep using Daktacord twice a day for a week, then drop it to once a day on the following week, and then drop it to every other day on the week after. This has worked brilliantly and it solved all Eczema patches, including the stubborn one behind his right knee, We were able to drop the Daktacord and we now only use the Epimax emollient regularly about twice a day.

We bought our first house last fall, and we're finally tackling our big backyard this spring. The yard came with mostly (invasive) weeds and some turf spread throughout, and we've been digging it up to replace it with native flowers and bushes with a couple raised beds for herbs and veggies.
My question is regarding our walking path on which we'd like to plant a short (maybe 5" tall max) ground cover, and an 8'x10' area we're hoping to use to play yard games on - all without grass. Both areas get a mixture of full sun and part shade at different parts of the day.
What are some successful alternatives to grass that can stand up to heavier foot traffic (the path) and light/periodic foot traffic (yard game area) that you have tried? I can't get a clear answer in my research on creeping thyme, brass buttons, sedum, and the like on which will actually still thrive when walked on.
ETA: I live West Michigan in Zone 6a.

Today it seems that with the increasing irregularity and casualization of labor in the imperial core, for example both oppressor and oppressed nations within the USA are being pulled into the gig economy, proletarians are identifying less and less with their labor. Obviously the absolute numbers skew towards oppressed nations being more irregularized, but both groups seem to have had comparable subjective experiences of this shift.
Kites in their series “The Specter That Still Haunts” recommended utilizing the identity of “proletarian” rather than “worker” because of their specific understanding of what it means to be proletarianized. While this does seem to be part of the answer, I’m inclined to believe it isn’t the full picture. Recently Kites, or more specifically OCR, has published “Correcting an Over-Correction” which outlines the necessity of emphasizing political agitation. It was then followed up by the publication of their “meme” articles on April 1st. This seems to allow some level of memetic, meaning aesthetic based and short-form, interaction with politics that the internet is so geared towards.
However, even this seems to not fully answer the question of how to relate to subcultures or fandoms. Lenin calls for communists to intervene in all pressing questions of the day, but I am unsure where we could class something like the Kendrick/Drake feud.
Being a Hip-Hop head has become an increasingly dominant identity, so it does seem relevant to proletarians. There is also the very real aspect of national oppression inherent to rap fueds, which often turn fatal, being orchestrated by white executives to sell records the consumer base of overwhelmingly white teens. Not to even mention the undeniable reality that hip-hop has connections to the sex trade, something which Kendrick regularly referenced.
So here we finally have an example of a subculture beef which certainly has the potential to be politicized. However I’m still completely lost as to how a communist organization could intervene in this feud to politicize it. It’s not like the majority of people listening to “Not Like Us” will tune into a 20 page polemic telling them their consumption habits are actually petite-bourgeois and the methods they need to be re-educated by.

I (14m) am not one of the most liked people in my grade, for being gay, eccentric, awkward and weird and all that and people tend to make fun of me for all that. A couple notable examples are these guys named will and elliott. My gf went through my my eyes only section on snapchat cuz i gave her the passcode, and you all could probably guess whats on there so im gonna leave that part out. Anyways, will came over to my gf and i’s lunch table which he does occasionally for about 5 minutes, and my gf told him about my my eyes only as a joke because she said they probably have the same, if not worse on there. Will whispered to his friend, nick, who’s not only friends with my gf but who knows what “it” looks like, and nick put both of his index fingers like a foot apart, and will and his other friend said in unison “jesus fucking christ.” Will now, of course, knows about my my eyes only, and he tried to trick me into giving my snapchat login info so he could delete the entire section because it was “disgusting” and its for my “wellbeing”, but i can probably guess what his true intention was: to send the pictures and to elliott, so they would subsequently be spread throughout the school. What are your thoughts?
