2024.05.20 09:01 MoonhelmJ Looking for a commander that can force the entire board to play aggressive

I play exclusively in 4 player pod.
I only get to play a few games when I got my LGS. I hate the player who disengages and than just ends the game in a few explosive turns. Those make the game boring to me. Because I cannot force these players to play the type of interactive decks I want them to the next best thing is to create a board state that forces it. It is more important that the combo players I hate fail than that I win.
I am looking for a commander to do this. First I considered Thantis, it seems to accomplish that and I like it's flavor. But after talking to some people it's mana cost is too high and it gets removed instantly. Someone mentioned Rocco hate-bears which I don't know about. I like the thematic of running an archetype with the word hate in it's name but the flavor of the commander itself really doesn't draw me in at all and I'm not sure what I would be fetching. My current thoughts now are A) run a goad commander, Marisi seems like a good choice, so does Grenzo, but I would rather have access to more colors. I am asking what the best goad commanders and their various strength and weaknesses B) run a commandedeck that is very low to the ground and can pick a player and eliminate them early, through the combat phase. If I can at least knock the combo player out of the game (assuming there is only one) I am happy even if have a low chance to win because I spent most of my resources and dedication to one kill when there are 2 other people.
Bonus points if I can get to express the theme of hate better.

The global tissue paper market size was valued at USD 85.81 billion in 2023. The market is projected to grow to USD 133.75 billion by 2030, exhibiting a CAGR of 6.55% during the forecast period.
Maintaining domestic cleanliness and hygiene requires the use of tissue paper. Personal Care and Sanitation Requirements are Rising, Which will Boost Market Growth
Because of the increasing importance of maintaining optimum health and cleanliness, everyone now uses tissue paper. These handy wiping items are frequently used to clean kitchen surfaces, hands, faces, and instruments in diagnostic and research labs. So, the main factor boosting increased product demand is the global rise in hygiene awareness. The Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) reports that China's output of household and sanitary papers climbed from 10.99 million tons in 2020 to 11.25 million tons in 2021 for domestic and export use.
Growing environmental issues, including deforestation and global warming brought on by the removal of trees, constrain the market for products made of pulp and inhibit consumer demand, which stifles the global tissue paper market growth.
Regional Insights
Asia Pacific Dominates the Market due to Presence of Influential Economies in this Region
During the projected period, a sizable tissue paper market share is anticipated for the Asia Pacific region. This can be attributed to aspects like the expanding capacity of East Asian nations like China and Japan and the region's ability to produce goods made of wood. In 2019, there were roughly 2700 paper and board firms in mainland China, according to a China Paper Association (CPA) survey. Additionally, because of its enhanced utility in the expanding food and food services sector, the expansion is mostly coming from populated nations like China, India, and Japan, driving the total tissue paper market growth in the region.

2024.05.20 08:44 Rightsideup23 Positive additions to the game in recent updates

I've noticed, in recent years, that Mojang has been getting a lot of intense criticism for some of the things they added to the game. Phantoms come to mind instantly as an example of a hated addition, but other additions like pandas and fletching tables have also been heavily criticized for being useless, and there are certain gameplay imbalances like overpowered villagers that are slammed as broken mechanics.
I think a lot of this criticism is, in fact, very justified. Hate should be avoided, but constructive critique of a game is important. I completely agree with many of the critiques I've seen of Minecraft's updates.
However, complaining constantly about new updates is also not that healthy. Hence this post. I just want to bring a bit of positivity and discuss some of the mobs or items we got in recent years that I think really benefited the game. I welcome any additions in comments, too, as I'm sure there are many things that I'll miss. Setting 1.13 as my arbitrary cutoff for 'newer updates', here are some really great additions that we got:
Striders - Traversing the Nether's tricky terrain, especially early game, is a monumental task, and exploration can be painfully slow. Now we have a cute, creaky mob that can help us travel the great lava oceans in style.
Lightening rods - Lightning has long been one of the most random, unfortunate occurrences to ever strike a person's base. No longer! We now have the power to direct Zeus's bolts to wherever we desire, using a rather aesthetic block in the process.
Tridents - Very difficult to get, and don't do much damage, but the enchantments you can get on them are very handy. Riptide is good by itself and also pairs super well with elytra, and channeling is really neat all around, especially when you want mob heads.
Light conditions for monster spawns - Light used to be a much larger problem than it is now. Not only do we now have the power to block monster spawns with fewer torches, near-darkness can be used strategically in buildings to create cool effects.
Light blocks - Speaking of light, we now have actual blocks of pure luminescence! Of course this is just a creative only thing, but yay! No more hiding glowstone under the carpet!
Bubble columns - These things are so useful for vertical movement. They perfectly balance the effort in making them with the reward of using them.
Debug stick - This one might be a bit more niche, and I expect most people don't use it, but I find this to be really handy when building in creative, and you can do a lot of cool tricks with it that you would need glitches or commands for otherwise.
April fools updates - These really make me look forward to April 1st. They really are rather unpolished, but I love them anyway.
Moss - A really nice block overall. Useful for digging out large areas, bonemeal-able, compostable, aesthetic, and most importantly, no more using vines in the crafting recipe of mossy cobblestone!
Honey blocks - These are awesome in redstone flying machines, and their other interesting properties, like aesthetics, player slowing, smaller-than-a-full-cube hitbox, and jump-reduction capability make them cool and useful, if a little niche, blocks overall.
Command updates - There are too many to list here even if I knew all the changes, but it is easy to forget that over the course of many updates, we got a huge heap of changes to commands. New syntax, new gamerules, more flexibility, etc.
Brown mooshrooms - I honestly thought these were always in the game. I couldn't believe it when I saw they were added as late as 1.14. Useful? No not really, unless you love suspicious stew. I just really love these guys for some reason. :)
Swimming - It is easy to forget how slow bobbing through the water used to be before we got actual swimming. This really opened up whole new options for exploration and building, not to mention the usefulness of being able to go through 1x1 holes.
Let's just take a moment to appreciate these positive additions, and more if you all can think of them, that have made the Minecraft we know today a more interesting game to play. You may not agree with some of the things I've mentioned, and that's okay. I know there have been some disappointments in the updates too, and that's okay.
I just feel like it's important to appreciate the good things every once in a while.

2024.05.20 08:13 Ardillin1234 Was banning my game chat the best choice Valve could have made??

Hey so I dont play dota 2 as much as I used too due to classes, I got suspended from chat and voice chat due to always fighting with my teammates (being toxic answering to their own toxicity). But I have noticed that even tho my teammates suck most of the time not talking to them allows me to completely concentrate on the game even if they just insult each other or me. Something like the match I just had being sven, in which our invoker was tilted insulting venomancer and mirana, my whole team harassing mid lion (who lost mid horribly vs pugna, yeah no surprise in there) I saw their picks bc I was last and said, welp, lets try. We ended up winning really well (in one part of the game I had such a predict vs slardar silencing him with bloodthorn as soon as he jumped)
So moral of the story to all my dear toxic players no matter your skill, get muted and start focusing on ur own game, have fun by urself and if u lose due to teammates welp, it happens. Always do ur best, in dota and in life and be proud of yourself!

2024.05.20 07:31 RedViper777 Creating fleets vs Control Groups

I’m a relatively new player to SoSE1, and I was curious about whether it was better to just make control groups or use the “create fleet” function?
I was reading this old post from a while back and I was wondering if the consensus made in that post was still valid? (that control groups were superior to fleets)
My instinct in the past has been to use the create fleet command to make groups of either direct combat ships or long-range ships. It works well enough, but I’m all for learning a new way! I did have some not so good luck just putting all kinds of ships in one fleet. Maybe I’m not good at micro’ing the engagements, so more than likely it was my fault.
Very much open to advice/critique!

Deepwoken Into Dungeons & Dragons - Part 18, I present to you: The Song of Nakti
Welcome to The Song of Nakti, the D&D 5e campaign that I started the Deepwoken Into Dungeons & Dragons project for. From now forth, I’m going to be posting the session recaps of each session here, in case anyone actually cares. It doesn’t hurt anyone sooo ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I’ll also be answering every question that is asked in the comments. For now, here are some key terms:
Player Characters: Alex Wilbourne - Human (mechanically Vedalken) Fleshsmith Inventor 3 (homebrew class by a certain KibblesTasty, think cleric but flavoured more like a terrifying creepy doctor who changes his body through surgery to be really good at whatever he specializes in).
Yuma - Two people fused into one body via a drowned deal with Yun’Shul: - Yura Ixatoki - Vesperian Monk 1 - Dima Volkov - Celtor Warlord 2 (homebrew class also by KibblesTasty, think combat commander, able to buff allies and the like)
Navis Gladiia - Vedalken Cultist Occultist 3 (yet another homebrew class by KibblesTasty, I think it’s basically wizard but cursed? I don’t actually know that much about this one)
Konrad Akre - Half-Elf Spellblade (another KibblesTasty subclass, they can infuse spells into their blade and attack people with both blade and Song at the same time)
Azrael Dise - Ganymede Graviturgy Wizard
Raymond Zwanziger - Half-Elf Lycan Blood Hunter (commonly mistaken for a Canor based on his looks; his class/subclass basically makes him a werewolf)
I’ll send their backstory summaries in a comment chain.

--About Ironclad Vanilla--
Minecraft Version: 1.20.4
Ironclad Vanilla is a whitelisted Semi-Vanilla server that strives to maintain a thriving community. Our staff works non-stop providing grief/theft prevention as well as technical and community support. We deal with issues professionally and do not abuse our powers. Never worry about your progress being lost due to some griefer ever again!
Ironclad Vanilla follows a trust system for trading, and players usually use diamonds as money. The spawn has a few public trading post that you can set your own trades up in, or you can make a shop with all kinds of merchandise!
Ironclad Vanilla is more appropriately known as a Semi-Vanilla server because we allow access to some commands, but we do so in a more balanced way. All commands that give you any kind of advantage cost in-game money. Players must earn money through playtime, chat-games, or voting.
We don't give our donators items, and in all actuality we don't give anyone items. Everything you see on Ironclad Vanilla was made with resources collected on our maps. Nothing is spawned in. Donators however get cool commands that allow them to glow, ride pets, and chat in color!
The map will never, ever, be reset. This means that you have all the imaginative freedom that you want in creating the most amazing builds and structures without ever worrying about it being lost. Map downloads become available every few months, so you will have forever access to your builds!

2024.05.20 04:56 Lukazilla13 No Command Datapack

So recently Ive made a realm, and I would like to know if there is a datapack somewhere to disable all commands so that my admins dont do anything stupid. I was the realm to be purely survival but my mods have no integrity. At least just disable commands that benefit the player (e.g. /give, /gamemode, /locate, /xp, /tp, etc.). I just want a fun realm that is motivational for everyone.
If anything just the code to make a datapack of this sorts.

2024.05.20 04:53 FerretOnReddit Legacy Editions and Java Parity to Bedrock

For anyone who's played Bedrock, it's very obvious that Bedrock is the "neglected child" in a sense, and as corny as that sounds, it's true. Java has stuff like being able to customize Superflat worlds and enchanting any item with any enchantment, just to name a couple features.
However, Bedrock players from the old times will remember in the old Legacy Editions we had these features as well. I remember being 7-9 years old, (I'm 17 now btw) loading up Minecraft Xbox One Edition, and making a world completely filled with TNT. Or making Knockback Sticks or Pickaxes and Shovels with Sharpness, or a Poppy with Fire Aspect. If you remember doing these types of things as a kid, you'll definitely get where I'm coming from.
When Bedrock Edition first came into existence I was like 10 or 11, and I distinctly remember being sad about no longer having these features. And to this day especially now that I do a lot of stuff with commands it frustrates me that I'm forced to only use Axes and Swords as weapons, since it's more work than it's worth to set up a system with a tag/scoreboard that gives a player Strength when they hold a Pickaxe. That might seem lazy, but it's really not when you think about it. And honestly Superflat worlds are kinda super boring because now because you can't customize them in fun and crazy ways.
This is why Mojang needs to bring back these features, because it would be super nostalgic for people like me, and I think the younger Bedrock players would have fun with it too, just like I did when I was their age. Additionally, going back to what I was saying earlier, you wouldn't need to set up systems with tags/scoreboards and all that because enchanting Pickaxes with combat enchantments would be a readily available feature.
Also just one other thing, yes, I know inventory editors are a thing, I have one on my laptop, but as far as I know you can't get inventory editors on Xbox, Phone/Tablet, Switch, and so on.
Lastly, I know these aren't the only 2 missing parity features, such as named banner markers on maps or giving items with custom names using NBT data, but for me at least these are two features that are both nostalgic and practical. And hopefully if these features get added more will follow, only time will tell I guess.

2024.05.20 04:44 Gafrudal Remove inventory on death

Hi. I'm creating a crossplay semi hardcore SMP superflat world for me and friends. I'm running a 1.20.4 paper server with the following plugins: McMMO GeyserMC ViaVersion EssentialsX Floodgate
I would like the player's inventory to be cleared upon death, but still be able to play on the world instead of being removed forever. I have only just begun learning command blocks today, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
This is what I have done: KeepInventory is on
Entered a scoreboard command: /scoreboard objectives add deaths deathCount
I have placed two command blocks side by side with the arrow of command block A pointing into the circle of command block B.
In command block A (Repeat, Unconditional, Always Active): /clear @'a'[scores={deaths=1..}]
This command continually sends: [Essentials] CommandBlock at -249,-63,-42 issued server command: /clear @'a'[scores={deaths=1..}] in my C:/Windows application.
In command block B (Chain, Unconditional, Always Active): /execute if entity @'a'[scores={deaths=1}] run scoreboard players reset @'a' deaths
When a player dies, the player keeps the inventory. The items aren't cleared. What am I doing wrong?
Note: I only added the apostrophes after the @ symbol so Reddit doesn't butcher the code, ignore them please.

2024.05.20 04:33 Z3r0B3at What is the rule of thumb on creature count in a Voltron Deck style?

So normally I am the type that wants to play with tribal decks since I am always a sucker for a theme, though recently I have begun branching out to build decks more around a playstyle. The most recent idea to cross my mind was Voltron with me planning to use Rafiq of the Many as a commander since A: He seems to play a bit into the whole "attack with one big creature" gimmick and B: he is one of the few I already have in my smallish collection.
I get the main idea of boosting up a big creature with spells, enchantments and equipment and swing for the fences but I am unsure how robust the creature front should be. I would always have Rafiq in the barrel to bring out as my attacker. I have a few creatures picked out for the sake of being mana dorks and to help dig for my buffs but from there the uncertainty kicks in.
Is it better to build plenty of chump blockers to hold the line at the cost of space for buffs or would something like the pillow fort cards that make people need to pay mana to attack me be better defenses? I can imagine most players with any sense would see what I was doing early on and shut me down quick without something to hold them at bay.

Led by Vern, this is our OG clan. This is a relaxed but competitive war clan. Clan makeup is largely US, UK, and Ireland based with the bulk of clanmates being professionals in finance, tech, and healthcare. As such Wars begin and end in the evenings. 2024.05.20 04:09 Superslinky1226 Just picked up a free rack, a few switches, and two old dell servers... now what?

So i think this may be a little backwards, but here goes.
Ive built PCs, I work in a networking adjacent field, and I like having stuff thats overkill in all aspects of life. So after not taking my ADD meds for a few days, I'm diving head first into something like an idiot.
Backstory: for the last 10 years or so i have been installing Physical access control, and camera systems for a national retailer (think BIG BIG. with their own data centers, and central monitoring). In that role, i was provided hardware, and had to program at the device level, but never dealt much with the server setups. I got tired of traveling nonstop, so i got a new job as an "engineer" for another company, doing design work. Since we utilize lots of systems that i am not familiar with I am working on taking some of the server setup work from the programming team to familiarize myself with the systems. In the process of doing that, i realized that having my programming lab be a folding table with a server sitting on it and cameras and access boards strewn about wasnt the best bet, so i picked up a free 48u rack off marketplace for cheap, commandeered a UPS and KVM Console, from the office, bought 2 used servers on marketplace, and a few cisco enterprise 48 port POE+ switches. All hardware was pretty cheap which im sure i will regret soon (im sitting around $400 currently). Here's what im working with:
Server 1 - Dell Poweredge r720XD - dual Xeon e5-2670's, 128gb DDR3, 1tb HDD (11 empty drive bays, that i will be filling for storage) Server 2 - Dell Poweredge R710 - Dual Xeon L5520's, 128gb ECC, 3x2TB HDD
Server 1 im planning to be a NAS for documents, photos, and CCTV storage, as well as running the CCTV VMS, plus whatever else it can handle
Server 2 was basically given to me when i bought server 1 so im not 100% sure yet. I was thinking about using it as a way to train on new software solutions when given demo licenses by our vendors, Maybe even set up in its own VLAN/standalone network to work on more secure buildouts
Some other things i would like to try but im unsure if i have the hardware capability:
Make a minecraft server for my daughter and a few friends (3-5 active players at a time) plex server (currently dont own a ton of physical media, but that may be in the future. im tired of switching streaming services month to month) Have games saved to the server so i can play them on any computer in the house without filling up the laptop (not sure how to make this happen. Basically, i like to play Flight sim 2020 every few months, its 200gb, and im tired of uninstalling a bunch of stuff and installing it just to play for 30 mins and get bored)
IDK. I guess what im really asking is what now. Where would you begin? What other things could/should i be doing. I basically needed a structured cable/rack setup but got too excited on FB marketplace, and im looking at a pile of parts wondering if i am an idiot.
