Some of my fav boys (S!Takumi, Alcryst, Alfred, V!Leo, Su!Sylvain)
They're not all +10 because I only returned to the game a few months ago, but I'm trying to keep their builds updated!
  • S!Takumi: One of my faves from Fates. Despite the age of this alt, I still love his cute sprite animations and how happy he is!
Has a player phase build that aims to nuke whatever he initiates on. While the Flared + Miasma combo sacrifices the flame vein and some tiles of haze vein, I think it's a worthy tradeoff for omni Lull - as an old unit, he can't afford to let the foe have the stat swing. He also needs external special charge +1 or offensive tempo support, but with that he's been solid.
  • Alcryst: My fave from Engage and best boy. While his base kit is perfectly functional, I must give him the best build I can!
Finish gives his Deadeyes an extra punch, Pledge gives him buffs and special charge +1, and Oath Echo gives him warping. He also has Fatal Smoke and a budget AoE build I used to grind favor in SD, so the Oath Echo's Atk buff comes in handy with those.
Side note, I'm ready to copypaste his build onto groom Alcryst, with Assassin's Strike over his prf B.
  • Alfred: My second fave from Engage. Practically +10'd during the anniversary Hero Fest, but I'm taking my time to fodder off the premium stuff I give him before merging.
Has an Atk/Def mixed phase build. Reliably takes hits that target his Def, hits hard, and can even swap to Galeforce in PvE. But foe NFU stops him from one-rounding a lot of things, so I'm planning to transition him to a Potent build soon.
  • V!Leo: One of my faves from Fates. This alt has my favorite Leo art so far, love the outfit and flowers! Won't be merging him because too many 5* exclusive merge projects is bad for me.
He has gravity ploy on his weapon, which is very fun and helpful for slowing down certain nukes to keep a fellow tank or hit-and-runner safe. Doubling as ploy support is great too.
Desperation helps him utilize his weapon's GFU, which is helpful when the foe doesn't have NFU (mainly PvE). But he also has Assassin's Strike for picking off squishier foes, and Sabotage A/D to lean into debuff support.
  • Su!Sylvain: My fave from 3H. I had quit FEH by the time he came out, but I still logged on to get merges for him. Glad he got a HoF rerun for me to give him a build for cheap!
You've probably seen this a lot from the HoF, it's the typical cavalry mage player phase build. I haven't used him yet since redeeming the forma, but surely he's solid like this, right?

2024.05.20 00:28 mellothegamer_69 Any advice/tips for long term subbing at middle school (intervention specialist)??

Hello! I'll be subbing for the rest of the school year for an intervention specialist at a middle school starting tomorrow (5th grade). I'll be subbing for the last 8 days of school.
I've technically substituted before, however, it was only for whenever my cooperating teacher was absent and therefore I was the main/only teacher in charge. I completed my student teaching this past semester at a elementary school (grades 1-4).
I would greatly appreciate any advice and tips y'all have for substituting at a middle school. Especially for special education. I already reached out to the teachers for schedules/sample lesson plans of the person I'm subbing for so I can somewhat know what to expect. Thank you in advance!!

2024.05.20 00:27 sgrace2298 One of them definitely runs the other sub

I tried to post my opinion on Britt and Jaxs parenting in the other sub thinking it was this one on accident, and got banned for saying this, no reason given other than hate speech apparently lmfao.
‘I hate this show for making me sympathise with Jax Taylor!!
I have been a long time VPR viewer and recently just got caught up on the valley (my country is a week behind the US I believe), I have always detested Jax. He's great for reality tv but that man is psychopathic. I started the valley as a bit of a hate watch to see where he's at since losing VPR and being an out of work influencer BUT....
Instead I've found him to be the voice of reason in his marriage with Brittney (only in that context, he's still insane otherwise). I just watched the episode where he is continually trying to get Britt and her family to stop hyucking while Cruz is doing his speech therapy right there. He is clearly frustrated, mentioned that these lessons cost a lot in previous eps and as someone who worked with special needs kids for years, Cruz DESPERATELY needs that early intervention. It's the one thing I'll give Jax and Britt, the speech therapy is a good choice. But poor Cruz can barely hear his therapist or hear himself think bc of brittney. And then Britt acts like Jax is such an ass for saying anything.
Cut to another scene; Britt is putting so much pressure on Jax to have another child, while he logically lays out that Cruz clearly has additional needs that will take a lot, their 'business' (read the show) is taking off so they'll be busy, and it's just not the right time to add to that chaos.
Britt immediately starts gaslighting him that he's just reneging on their plans, which clearly when they they were pillow talking back in 2016 didn't consider the fact that their first child may be special needs. Plenty of special needs families are one and done, because it is significantly more demanding raising a child with additional needs. Plenty do have other children, and there's nothing wrong with it but Jax is right that right now, Cruz should be priority one.
Do I think Jax is objectively a great dad? Not sure. Do I think it's objectively just for Cruz and not also a convenient excuse to get out of a marriage he clearly never wanted that much? No. Do I think ha's the better of the two of them for Cruz? Yes. At least he's willing to acknowledge the additional needs and try to get Cruz the help he needs. And as a longtime Jax 'haydur' I both love and hate that he's actually being the voice of reason here.’

2024.05.20 00:07 IntelligentPlum9237 Advice on starting a class on surf lessons

I am looking to start teaching some surf lessons and I have a decent idea of how I am going to do it, I just don’t have everything fleshed out. As I wrap up finals I am going to really go full throttle into this plan and I am looking to start this within the next few weeks, so keep that in mind:
My idea is to teach group surf lessons, different from the standard private lessons that are often pricey. It would be a one hour group lesson, with surf boards provided. After the lesson is over, I would allow them to keep the boards for the following hour to surf by themselves.
I would hold these classes starting once a week on Saturday mornings. Ideally I would run a group of 5 every 2 hours. The first class would start at 8, I would instruct for 1 hour, and then they could surf until 10, when the second group would be starting.
I will be buying 5 used foam surfboards which I can get for $50 each. Group surf lessons aren’t too big of a thing here, so that’s why I am looking to do group rather than private. I want to eventually have both new and recurring students and potentially branch out to private lessons later on.
I want to advertise using community boards, and also promote the swim team I used to coach at my local community pool. I will make flyers with a QR to an instagram page that has all the info.
Now for my questions:
1) What is the best way to accept payment? I was thinking venmo.
2) What kind of contract would I need my students to sign regarding injury/liability? How do I make one?
3) What information should I include on my flyers? Prices, times? I don’t want to put too much info, because if I want to change rates / times, I would need to create all new flyers.
4) Should I separate my classes by age group? Or should I have an age minimum? I want to market to both kids and young adults, but I am not sure if they should be together.
5) What's the best way for me to have people sign up and should I require a small deposit to save their lesson?
6) Is there any oversight I have? I feel like I am somewhat covered. Get a few boards, post a few flyers, and teach! Let me know.
I am also going to post on a surf forum to get more surf specific advice about teaching, but I am posting here for some business advice. Thanks!

2024.05.20 00:05 kkaymer7 Moving to Tunis (25M) - Tips request

Hey all!
I need your help and I have a few questions to ask you about moving to Tunis.
I am a man, twenties, and I will soon settle in Tunis to work in a French high school as a teacher (north of Tunis/Carthage). So I have an average level in classical Arabic and I also speak a little Egyptian (where I lived), but nothing in Tunisian.
Here are my questions:
Obviously, you know Tunis much better than me so don't hesitate to tell me everything that seems important to you!

Q&A
Q: When will [insert game name here] be cracked?
A: STOP! CrackWatch members are not psychic. Games get cracked by completely ANONYMOUS SCENE GROUPS who don't disclose their progress or plans to the general public so NO ONE knows WHEN and IF a certain game will be cracked.
Q: What are all these NFO thingies? Where do I download?
A: NFOs are text files included with game releases which contain information about the releases. CrackWatch only informs which games have been cracked. To download look for the releases on CS.RIN.RU's forum or torrent websites. Useful websites can be found in The Beginners Guide or PiratedGames's Mega Thread.
Q: WTF is Denuvo?
A: Denuvo is a Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology used to protect games from being cracked. Games that have Denuvo are harder to crack and usually take much longer. See Pinned Post for a list of Denuvo games.
Q: An update is out, but it includes the base game as well! Can I only download the update without redownloading the entire game?
A: Yes. CS.RIN.RU is your friend.

2024.05.19 23:50 hugsandrugs3715 What do to when you just can’t handle it?

I started working in a school as a paraprofessional while I was finishing up my degree. The minute I started working as a paraprofessional I loved it. I loved working with kids, I loved working with the teachers. I loved everything about it. It made me SO excited to become a teacher. Once I finished my schooling in 2021 I got hired at the same school i was working as a paraprofessional at, and became a 2nd grade special Ed teacher. It was HARD and a lot of work, and honestly pretty stressful. But again, I felt like I was where I supposed to be. I loved the kids, loved the teachers I worked with, and genuinely enjoyed going to work everyday. But while all this was going on, I was secretly battling an addiction to prescription amphetamines. I eventually got help, because I knew I had a problem, and in doing so I lost my job. I am now clean and have been for almost a year, but I just can’t seem to hack it as a teacher anymore. I resigned from 2 positions this year. One in September, where I only last 2 weeks, and one last week - where I lasted 4 months. Is it possible that I just can’t manage this job sober? The amphetamines had many negative side effects (depression, anxiety, impulsivity) but also gave me tons of energy and made me feel like superwoman. I could whip out an IEP in an hour or two, plan small group interventions at the drop of a hat, and manage behavior all while keeping calm and collected. That is not the case anymore for me. I struggled doing the bare minimum at my last job. I was drowning in paperwork and lesson plans, always behind. I was honestly a terrible teacher this past semester. Do you think it’s possible that without the crutch of amphetamines, I’m just not cut out for this job? That KILLS me to think that. Because I worked SO hard to get here. But I feel like the writing is on the wall? Do you think if I just take the time to regroup (my mental health has been shit since I got clean) that maybe at some point I will be able to manage it in education and come back? Or is it just time to close the door on this dream forever? Do I just need to find the “right” school again? Because the last 2 definitely weren’t it? Or should I change careers altogether?

2024.05.19 23:43 DirtyGoldGames A Failed Kickstarter. What I’ve Learned and What’s Next?

Some of you might know me here. I have posted about the creation of the tabletop game Goblin Auction. This post is meant to be an overview of what I did to create my game, market it and start a Kickstarter for it. Spoiler alert, the Kickstarter did not reach its funding goal and I will also go into what I learned, what I would do instead and what is next for my specific project. I hope you can glean something from my experience if you are also going to games yourself and thinking about self-publishing.
I worked on the creation and marketing of Goblin Auction from about August 2023 to April 2024. That is about 8 to 9 months of really putting in the hours and being serious about game creation. I started as anyone should. Some basic printed cards and components and just playing the games with friends on a regular basis. I honed the project to a point where I had the basic idea of what I was going for and I could move on to the art. (Note: I understood that the game would likely go through many changes before the end. This may require me to redo art or change some significant things, but for personal motivation, starting the art and getting some semblance of what the final game would look like was important to me. Also, starting art and putting out posts can start accruing more attention than just a text post about a game’s creation.)
I have the luxury (or maybe not haha) of being an artist and trained in creating illustration. I didn’t have to pay for someone to design my game for me so the majority of the time spent on the game was spent with me drawing. Art, in my opinion, is the best way to market your game. A good looking and polished product is always better than a good concept in text format, although preferably you’d want both. With drawings I was able to start posting about my game. I felt like this was the best course of marketing for the project initially that costs no money and I could record speed art timelapses and post progress in stages to get feedback from a growing community of people.
Throughout this process, I was posting on mainly Reddit and Instagram. I had a YouTube and posted sometimes to it but not often and everything was mainly art. Retrospectively, I think what would have been a better idea was creating a dev log of how the game is going, what part of the process I am at, showing off the game’s core mechanics and new abilities and combos I was working on. It would give people a better sense for the game’s mechanics beyond just the flashy art as I found that, towards the end, the main thing that I didn’t feel like I conveyed well was how the game was played.
I eventually tried to start branching to new platforms. The one I really liked and found the most value from was Discord. I set up a server, just a general chat and a voice channel and started getting people actually interested in the game interacting there. I think what I wish I would’ve done is started seeking out as many communities that already had my target audience, tabletop gamers, and mingled there more. I also tried to establish myself on BoardGameGeek, but I found it unnecessarily un-user friendly. I have heard from many people that it is the hub for many people when it comes to tabletop gamers, but it was unnecessarily complicated to create a game page and designer page and even understand what the best course was when it came to even using it, so I abandoned it altogether. Not sure if that was the right move and I do think that it may be something I need to really crack down on and understand when moving forwards.
Then came finding a quote and the Kickstarter. I found a quote from Panda Game Manufacturing for about $8000 for 2000 units with the idea that international shipping would cost $2000 and I personally added a buffer of $2000 to be safe for a total of $12,000. In hindsight, this was wayy too high. I saw big projects get funded and assumed if I had a good product and did my job, that it would be enough to fund. And I still think this was possible, but I had to do a lot more advertising wise to get over that hump (advertising is not my strong suit, so admittedly this was the hardest learning curve I had to overcome). Anyways, long story short, the Kickstarter didn’t get funded, reaching only about 29% of the final goal, which I will emphasize is a LOT and I am very grateful for everyone who did actually contribute and sorry that the full vision wasn’t realized into a product.
So, what have I learned?
And what’s next for Goblin Auction?
I have heard that a failed Kickstarter is the worst outcome for up and coming games due to image and perception of the game. I personally take it as a big lesson and don’t have any plans of giving up just because my first try didn’t go as I wanted.
For Goblin Auction, the game is not dead to me. It just needs more work. More tiers for Kickstarter than just “Base Game”. For the second launch I will be creating new expansions. An Orc expansion that allows for PvP combat, and a Gremlin expansion that allows for co-op gameplay and a variant Hut deck that allows for different decisions when getting victory points to win the game. I would create all this before re-releasing as well as seeing about trinkets and ad-ons to give backers better options and more to have a more well-rounded Kickstarter experience. This also includes those How to Play and explanation videos that I had been avoiding before.
For me personally, though, these new expansions won’t be immediate. I will take my time in creating something that truly is worth investing money into, like was my mindset with the original base game of Goblin Auction. I also will not solely focus on Goblin Auction and pursue some other game ideas that I have had for a while. This is all happening outside of my day job, so it definitely is going to be a long process, but I am truly excited to show off the ideas I have had, and to make more games!
Thank you for those who have followed my journey so far and stick around for the future of Dirty Gold Games!

2024.05.19 23:28 MartinDHansen Bonehunting The Future (Predictions)

Hello again! After reading the back and prologue of Bonehunters we come now to right and fair predictions part of reading a Malazan book.
I actually intended to get the predictions out yesterday, but when I sat down to read the summary on the back, I got to 'The Seven Cities...' and put it back down again.
Now it's not that I mind the Seven Cities. I actually quite like it. But it's also way more outwardly brutal and grounded than Genabackis and Leduria(?). In Seven Cities they are stringing people up on spears and hanging children out to dry. Meanwhile, in Genabackis we have the Tenescowri, which granted is very brutal, but countermanded by a furry, Thor, a sleight of hand magician, a blabbermouth, DID, a guy that 'while you were out reading books and dilly-dallying I was studying the edge, flying my space-rock, and brooding,' the physical human-embodiment of excrement, and of course, who could forget the entire island of people who 'are studying the blade, *tips their strange little masks* "m'lady", and of course the dude disguised as another dude.
Side-note: The Glossary is so much more extensive than the previous books.
These predictions got a lot more concrete than I had anticipated and actually feel really good about the results. Then again, I felt similarly last time and I missed the mark slightly.

Hi, I am a recent graduate looking for Data Analyst roles in Vancouver, Canada.
I do have one year of experience as a junior software engineer however my skillset to transition to Data role was completed gained through my degree and personal projects that I completed.
I have applied for few roles, however I see that there are a lot of applicants for every posting and wanted to refine my resume to even stand a small chance of being considered. Any review would be really helpful for me in this difficult job marker. If you have any other advice for me in general with respect to my career, please don't hesitate to tell that as well.

2024.05.19 23:08 Qamarrima Is this how our friendship ends?

Dear best friend,
I'll open up today, I wanted to tell you about how I felt hatred for you when we were not friends but I did not have the guts to do so, but I always knew I was going to be your friend and I did become your friend, even though it took 6 years, and it is alright those hatred and desire paid off at last in 2022, and Finally I became your friend, your closest friend and I was proud but you know what? Just yesterday I was thinking about all this when the incident took place. Trust me I meant no harm I went to hear her stupid lies, and I know, you know that I don't believe her but I was just curious about what she thought and I did not actually think she'll start to blabber those nonsense about you and I know, I know I should've stood up for you but do you remember that you too asked me once to ask her about you and her thoughts or maybe I misunderstood, or maybe I'm right but does it matter?? It doesn't, I thought that I'm the bestest and the most loyal friend you'll ever found, this was our first argument and Honestly I won't call it an argument since I knew from the start that I was wrong. So yesterday I just apologised. You still haven't checked my messages yet, though you're uploading those photos on your status that shows the place where all we friends we're supposed to meet and have fun, the same place that I cancelled to go thinking it'll make you upset and I'll not be able to face you. It's alright though, kind of felt bad because we were planning on this meet up for a really long time and I was very excited but it's alright, I saw you the day before yesterday after you moved away and I hugged you probably for the last time before all this took place and it's alright, I deserve it. I will ofcourse miss you, you were the whole package as a friend, but I won't fight for this friendship nor that I have anything to fight with, but you get what I'm saying right? This was a beautiful lesson that lasted for 2 years I'm happy with all the moments I spent with you, but I'll not force you to be my friend after this. Since, I broke a really big rule of friendship. I won't dwell on this matter, won't check for your messages anymore, continue my life. So I think this ends here and even though you haven't said anything about our friendship, I have made my decision. You deserve a better friend. Thank you, hope you have a great life :)

2024.05.19 23:05 R2-Scotia Very few people actually want Scotland to be part of the UK

I can hear the rabid unionists howling already. England did win in 2014, but this hides the reasons people voted ...
45% wanted Scotland to leave the UK
Less than 5% actively want to be in the UK, in the sense that in the reverse situation of an independent Scotland voting on whether to accede to London, they would want to do so
The other 50% were afraid of disruptive change, and would be No voters in both cases. The unionists cannot claim them for that camp.
There is a lesson for team Yes in presenting detailed plans, costs and ROI. I'd suggest it will cost £20bn over 15 years, and looking at Ireland, Norway, Denmark etc and what we could achieve, I consider 4 grand a head to be a sound investment in our children's future.
One of the SNP's standard comebacks at FMQ's is "well, at least it's a bit better than England" ... a wee bit of authority was transferred to Edinburgh, there is a modest improvement. We have proven we can run Scotland better than people in England can.
If we take full control of our affairs, we can make a much bigger difference. We can be like our Scandinavian and Celtic peers. We must prove that to those who fear change.

2024.05.19 23:04 LordWeaselton Gavicus XXIX: Good Leader or Terrible Tyrant?

This is the story of Gavicus XXIX, the leader of the Aurean Dominate at the beginning of my book series. The Aurean Dominate is a declining empire centered around the Planet Aurea and a few pieces of the surrounding worlds. Despite this, the Aurean Dominate still remains one of the four great powers in the South Nebula, competing with the Haxamanian Empire over its southern and eastern worlds. The north is dominated by the Ishga Empire and the west is controlled by the mysterious and brand-new Tatiians. Minor powers include the Kingdom of Arturia, the Aztlanian Empire, the numerous Atlantean states, and the Kingdom of Vigam. Was Gavicus XXIX a good ruler in your opinion? Why or why not?
INFO ABOUT GAVICUS XXIX:
Gavicus XXIX was a Guant born somewhere in Occidens on Aurea 65 years before the end of Book 1. Not much is known about his early life, but it is known that Gavicus XXIX's birth name was Galerius Decimus Tranio and that he spent most of his young adulthood serving in the army during the war against Beyin Epivoulos and his criminal empire. He eventually became a Senator representing an area of rural Occidens, and after a few terms in the Aurean Senate, was chosen to become the Consigliere of Dominus Theodosius IV after the former Consigliere was ousted in the aftermath of the Great Nicopolitan Scandal. His tenure as Consigliere was short, however, as Theodosius IV died of the Blood Bleaching less than a year later. Galerius ascended the throne in Theodosius's place, and took the name Gavicus XXIX upon doing so. He was 47 years old at the time.
Gavicus inherited a bureaucracy that had just been stripped of the vast majority of its talent, as many of the best officials that had served under Theodosius had been implicated in the Great Nicopolitan Scandal and thus were barred from future office. Syagrios Komnenos, the Exarch of Tifinagh under Theodosius who had helped defeat Majorian IX when he tried to use Tifinagh as a base to usurp the throne, was replaced by Marcus Septimius Massgaba. Massgaba was an incompetent wealthy landowner who had bought his way into the Aurean Senate and would go on to spend his tenure as Exarch raising taxes like a maniac, triggering several small revolts, needlessly prolonging the war with the Haxamanians through his impatience and battlefield incompetence, and dying pathetically in the Battle of Tasfahn. Nassenia Montana, the highly capable Magistra Milita that had served under Theodosius IV was replaced by Gaius Caesonius Theodosius (no relation to Theodosius IV), a somewhat competent general who would go on to serve Gavicus well in the wars in Amorica but utterly fail him in the Battle of Tasfahn. For his Consigliere (2nd-in-command/heir in case of his resignation or death), Gavicus chose Tiverios Theodosiopoulos, the most capable of Theodosius IV's sons, who by this time was serving in the army and Senate as a Legate (Senator in command of a legion). As Gavicus was often away on campaign, Tiverios would go on to amass plenty of political clout and power for himself, as he is who Gavicus always left in charge of governance while out of the capital.
Almost immediately after ascending the throne, Gavicus was forced to deal with a crisis. In Lapum, a working-class satellite city of Aurea's largest city Nicopolis, an ethnic Tangolian civilian named Arslan Yi'it was murdered by Aurean legionaries stationed in the city, causing four days of ethnic violence and chaos known as the Lapum Riots. Large portions of the city were burned and looted. Gavicus personally led a legion into the city to quell the uprising, doing so with only 50 civilian deaths and a few hundred injuries, but this did little to quell the underlying ethnic tensions in the city and elsewhere in Aurea. Despite Gavicus's best attempts to invest in Lapum in the years following the violence, much of Lapum's terrified, ethnically Aurean and Centralian upper and middle class fled the city for Nicopolis and elsewhere, resulting in the beginnings of the urban decay the city is known for today.
Additionally and most importantly, Gavicus had inherited the war with the Haxamanian Empire that had cost the Aureans almost all of their territories on the Planet Awal. Only Tifinagh's islands and a small scrap of the mainland Theodosius IV reconquered just before his death remained under Aurean control. Immediately after dealing with the Lapum Riots, Gavicus traveled to Tifinagh, hoping to cement his legitimacy by reconquering the rest of Tifinagh. Due to the Haxamanians' attention largely being focused elsewhere, Gavicus and Massgaba managed to get significantly further than Theodosius IV did, marching east along mainland Tifinagh's northern coast to little resistance. A small Haxamanian force that tried to stop them outside the city of Dymox was easily defeated, and they took Chera, one of the largest cities on Tifinagh's mainland, with no resistance. However, the city had been emptied by the Haxamanians of its food, its civilians, its water, and its supplies. Immediately knowing this was a trap, Gavicus sent for reinforcements, naval resupply, and a fleet from Carthadasta, Tifinagh's capital. Too impatient to wait for supplies, Massgaba disobeyed Gavicus's orders to stay put and led small bands of cavalry to plunder what they could from the local countryside.
While on one of these raids, they clashed with a small band of Imazi cavalry, previously Aurean subjects who'd switched sides to the Haxamanians after the latter captured their land. The Aureans were victorious and managed to capture some, learning from them that the Haxamanians were amassing a massive army nearby, led personally by the Haxamanian Shahanshah (King of Kings) Bahram VII and his Spahbed (top general) Bacha Hilazai. Only a day later, a Haxamanian fleet appeared from the northwest and parked itself in Chera Bay, blocking reinforcements from reaching the city. However, just as according to Gavicus's plan, the Aurean fleet arrived soon after and defeated it, allowing the simultaneously arriving food and supplies to enter the city. Having lost their advantage in a siege, the Haxamanians instead opted to meet the Aureans in open battle, choosing a nearby site at the edge of the Imazi Desert. Gaius Caesonius Theodosius, who had arrived with the reinforcements, along with Gavicus and Massgaba, led the Aureans to a resounding victory, killing or capturing half the Haxamanian force and routing the rest. The victory at the Battle of the Imazi Desert allowed the Aureans to march much further into mainland Tifinagh, recapturing essentially the entire western half of the Exarchate. Meanwhile, Bahram and Bacha retreated to the fortified port of Vasanos to lick their wounds and await reinforcements. Hoping to return to governance, Gavicus left the situation on Awal to Gaius Caesonius Theodosius and Massgaba for the time being and returned to Aurea proper.
In his early reign, Gavicus focused primarily on strengthening trade relations with the Ishgas, but was soon forced to shift his attention elsewhere. 4 years into his reign, the galactic warlord Tate released a magical cataclysm known as the Iteru Genocide on Iteru, a moon of the Planet Awal with close relations to the Aurean Dominate, as it was a former Aurean possession. With Iteru's Pharaoh Nuterhek, a close personal friend of Gavicus, begging him for help, Gavicus provided what rice and wheat the Aurean Dominate could spare to help with the associated famine. While it wasn't enough to save Iteru, the food aid bought many of Iteru's people the time they needed to flee the doomed moon. Despite the Aurean Dominate's extremely isolationist policies for the past few centuries, Gavicus made an agreement with Nuterhek to resettle some Iteru refugees on Aurea, angering many hardliners in the Aurean Senate. The decision was only able to pass the Aurean Senate when Gavicus agreed to cap the total number of migrants at 60,000 and restrict Iteru settlement to the cities of Astras and Olinthaseia. Most consequential of these arrivals was Taftenkhamun, Nuterhek's 10-year-old son and heir to Iteru's throne, whom Gavicus agreed with Nuterhek to adopt as a son. Despite Gavicus's efforts, however, the Iteru Genocide killed or forced into exile all sentient life on Iteru, taking the life of his friend Nuterhek as well, who chose to die with his people rather than flee to Aurea. Gavicus would live with the guilt of not doing more to help Iteru for the rest of his life.
Gavicus would raise Taftenkhamun, much better known by his Aurean name of Taftus, as the son he never had. He allowed Taftus to live with him in the Palace of the Domini, continued his education, and did his best to balance spending time with him and showing him love and affection with the duties of being the Aurean Dominus. Despite Gavicus trying to push Taftus into going into politics like he did, Taftus was far more interested in the military, and enlisted in the Aurean legions at 17, as soon as he became of age.
After a year of scheming to turn the tide of the war, Bahram sent Bacha undercover to the rebellious Aurean Province of Tangolia, tasked with fomenting a rebellion so they could use the province as a springboard to attack Aurea proper. Many Tangolians, particularly the Otrar and Gazan Tangolians, both felt mistreatment under Aurean rule and had more in common culturally with the Haxamanians than the Aureans, and many flocked to join the revolt, which quickly took control of the north and center of the province. Qajeer, the Tangolian Khan loyal to the Aureans, fought off several attempts by the rebels to capture Tengribalik, the Tangolian Capital. However, once the Haxamanians arrived, led by Bacha Hilazai, their combined strength was too much for Qajeer to deal with and he was forced to abandon the city to the rebels and Haxamanians, fleeing to Tangolia's eastern seaboard, an area much more loyal to the Aureans. With Gaius Caesonius Theodosius tied down in Tifinagh and not trusting Massgaba to defend the Exarchate on his own, Gavicus was forced to rely on what was left of Qajeer's force, border guard units, and regional commanders to stop the ensuing Haxamanian-Tangolian invasion of Argentolia, the Aurean heartland. The border guard units proved to be little more than a speed bump for the combined Haxamanian-Tangolian force, which easily broke through the border wall and crossed the Hsia River, invading Argentolia. As most of eastern Argentolia's regional commanders with any actual talent had been implicated in the Great Nicopolitan Scandal under Gavicus's predecessor and thus were no longer in command, almost all of them were fairly new recruits with little experience leading troops, resulting in disaster after disaster. Daion was the first city to fall to the Haxamanian-Tangolian force, which then followed that up by defeating an Aurean field army near Cannoria. Within three months, both Cannoria and Ferum, the latter being one of the largest and most important cities in the Aurean Dominate, would be in enemy hands. Over the following six months, poorly led field army after poorly led field army would fall to the invaders, with the major cities of Eresus, Cercapese, Ager Capulum, and Sacrini all falling within the next year. For the first time since the Aurean Dominate's founding, the capital of Astras was within striking distance.
Under immense pressure from the Aurean Senate and general public, Gavicus finally recalled Gaius Caesonius Theodosius from Tifinagh after Sacrini fell, as the enemy was nearing Astras, thought for millennia to be untouchable. By the time Gaius Caesonius Theodosius had arrived, the Haxamanian-Tangolian force had seized Artegion, on the doorstep of Astras, and with it, a fleet. With the combined arms of their massive land force and this fleet, the Haxamanian-Tangolian force laid siege to Astras, with Gaius Caesonius Theodosius and Gavicus leading the defense of the city. The city's massive, three-layered walls, combined with its easily defensible location on the sea with only a few land entrances, allowed the Aureans to repel the invaders, marking a turning point in the war. While the Haxamanians under Bacha Hilazai simply sailed back to Awal, the Tangolians, with no such option and trapped thousands of miles deep in Aurean territory, would be dealt with piecemeal over the next three years. Around the same time, Qajeer had managed to reverse his fortunes in Tangolia and recapture Tengribalik and much of the province's center.
By year 6 of Gavicus's reign, the situation with the Tangolians was under enough control for Gavicus to return his military attention to Awal. While Gaius Caesonius Theodosius and Gavicus had been busy fighting off Bacha Hilazai and the Tangolians, Massgaba had lost some ground to Bahram VII in Tifinagh, having been pushed back to the city of Thubiscurum. Taking advantage of low Haxamanian morale after the failed Siege of Astras, the Aureans were able to push the Haxamanians out of Tifinagh entirely when Gavicus and Gaius Caesonius Theodosius returned, restoring the Aurean Exarchate of Tifinagh to full Aurean control for the first time in decades. Other lost Aurean Exarchates in the area - Kilikia, Meroe, Adua, and the Imazi Tribal Lands - were restored to Aurean hands over the next six years, putting the Haxamanians decisively on the back foot. During this time, Bacha Hilazai was killed at the Battle of Taoudenni, greatly weakening the Haxamanians and lowering their morale.
Relations with the Kingdom of Arturia were fraught, with conflict erupting 7 years into Gavicus's reign over the Aurean Exarchate of Amorica, an isolated Aurean territory on the Planet Arturia that the Kingdom of Arturia continued to claim. Paradoxically, these tensions began when Arturia's king, King Arturius, traveled to Aurea to meet with Gavicus to negotiate an end to their millennia-long conflict. While Gavicus was personally in favor of a deal, King Arturius refused to relinquish his claim on Amorica, leading to the Aurean Senate rejecting the deal and forcing Gavicus to continue the conflict. Additionally angering the Aurean Senate, Gavicus made the mistake of insisting that he meet with Arturius in Astras rather than on Arturia. Despite Gavicus's attempt to pitch it as a beginning of the end of Aurea's centuries of isolationism that even many Aureans were starting to regard as self destructive, this was seen as a bridge too far for most. During the failed negotiations, Gavicus briefly met Pompeia, a young disciple of King Arturius who would become of note much later. In order to make up his lost standing in the Aurean Senate, Gavicus was forced to escalate the situation in Arturia immediately after the negotiations broke down, distracting King Arturius with a vacation in Astras while he ordered a massive invasion force to land in Amorica and seize as much Arturian land as possible.
Exceeding even Gavicus's expectations, this force managed to break through the Arturian Alps and put Caerbannog, the Kingdom of Arturia's capital, under siege. Upon his return, however, Arturius managed to break the siege despite being taken completely by surprise, and defeated the Aureans in several battles, pushing them all the way back into Amorica. Eventually, Arturius, livid at Gavicus's betrayal, managed to invade into Amorica itself and fought the Aureans, led personally by Gavicus as he had traveled there by this point, to a stalemate at the Battle of Caerwent. While Gavicus still had enough resources to continue prosecuting the war, he felt that this particular episode proved there was no reason to continue the constant skirmishes with Arturia, and accepted an offer to negotiate peace terms with Arturius again, this time in Amorica.
The ensuing peace deal returned Aurea's and Arturia's borders to status quo antebellum, although Arturius was not happy about Aurea retaining Amorica. However, Aurea had to bite the bullet and recognize the Kingdom of Arturia's independence and normalize relations, as all of Aurea's previous Domini had refused to do this despite it having been fait accompli for millennia at this point. Aurea had previously seen the entire Kingdom of Arturia as little more than a rogue province that had somehow managed to slip from its control long ago. Aurea paid Arturia a hefty war indemnity, but this was paltry compared to the money that new trade relations between Arturia and Aurea brought in for both nations. Although recognizing Arturia's independence was not popular on Aurea at first, Gavicus was able to sell it based on the fact that he had retained Amorica, held the peace negotiations off-planet this time, and most importantly because of all the money that new trade relations with Arturia brought in, as Arturia sat along a key trade route linking Aurea more closely with the wealthy and technologically advanced Ishgas far beyond. This allowed Gavicus to hold lavish games, as well as expand Aurea's existing food dole for the poor to include protoceratops and psittacosaurus meat in addition to wheat, olive oil, rice, pork, and chicken. His popularity spiked, and in the tenth year of his reign, he would go on to sail to reelection against Qajeer Khan, winning 55% of the vote nationwide.
In the ninth year of Gavicus's reign, the last holdouts of the Tangolian revolt had been put down by Qajeer. Qajeer had his uncle Jamukha, who had led the revolt, strangled for doing so. However, Qajeer had his own reasons for helping crush the revolt instead of participating in it himself. While he secretly loathed the Aureans and the way they treated his people, Qajeer instead chose to bide his time, gaining the Aureans' trust and building a robust local power base while he waited for his own opening to revolt. For the entire rest of his life, Gavicus would be none the wiser. Qajeer would eventually revolt under Gavicus's successor, resulting in a multi-year civil war that would leave the already exhausted Aurean Dominate open to the machinations of Tate soon after.
Gavicus tried his best to manage the Blood Bleaching pandemic that circulated on Aurea during the first few years of his reign, but little could be done to spare Aurea from the destruction of that disease, and like most of the rest of the galaxy, Aurea lost a substantial chunk of its population. Thanks largely to Gavicus's enforcement of strict social distancing throughout its duration, however, the Blood Bleaching killed far less of the population on Aurea than it did on the hardest-hit worlds of Arturia and Iteru, each of which lost half or more of their pre-pandemic populations. In total, it is estimated around 10-15% of the Aurean Dominate's pre-pandemic population was killed by the Blood Bleaching, compared to around 50% on Arturia and a whopping 70% on Iteru. Even Aurea's relatively small loss was not without its consequences, however, as this caused a decline in tax revenue for years and a noticeable strain on the military's recruitment pool.
In the first four years after his reelection, Gaius Caesonius Theodosius managed to reconquer all of the lost Exarchates on Awal the Haxamanians had taken from the Aureans during Theodosius IV's reign. Nova Aurea, Caria, and finally Carmania were all finally returned to the Aurean Dominate after decades of Haxamanian occupation, and Gavicus's popularity soared as a result.
Despite having recognized Arturia's independence earlier, 14 years into Gavicus's reign, tensions flared up with Arturia again Amorica again. An Arturian garrison had left a border fort in the Arturian Alps briefly undefended, and a small Aurean force seized it without orders, prompting a small-scale war between Aurea and Arturia. This conflict was over in about two months, with the Kingdom of Arturia suing for peace after the Aureans seized a few more border forts and badly defeated an Arturian field army at the Battle of Allt-Gollau. At the negotiating table, Gavicus agreed to return the border between the Aurean Exarchate of Amorica and the Kingdom of Arturia to status quo antebellum in exchange for the freeing of 500 Aurean hostages Arturia took during the fighting and the Aureans who seized the initial border fort without orders were put on trial. Most notable about this conflict was the brilliance of an Aurean cavalry commander named Gorgo Gualtera at the Battle of Allt-Gollau, resulting in her catching Gavicus's eye. Gavicus promoted her to Exarch of Amorica, giving her full military and civilian control of the territory. Unbeknownst to Gavicus or anyone else, however, Gorgo was both the daughter of the dead Aurean crimelord Beyin Epivoulos (the crimelord whose forces Gavicus had fought in his youth), as well as a deep cover agent for Tate (the architect of the Iteru Genocide and many other atrocities across the galaxy).
The next year, the Haxamanian Empire was engulfed in a civil war, and Gavicus saw the perfect opportunity to strike at the Haxamanian Capital while the area was engulfed in turmoil, finally ending the decades-long war or maybe even conquering the Haxamanians completely in the process. However, things did not at all go according to plan, and all the armies he brought with him got destroyed by the forces of Rukhsana I Shahanzai, a disaffected member of the Haxamanian royal family who had escaped from prison, gotten an army together, annihilated the Aureans in the disastrous Battle of Tasfahn, and took the Haxamanian throne for herself. Several Aurean generals and other military leaders, including Massgaba, were killed, and Gavicus barely escaped the battle with his life. The Aureans had no forces left on Awal after this to protect their holdings there. On the other hand, Taftus, who was also present during the campaign, became a national hero when he used his tactical prowess to save the troops under his command from annihilation by a Haxamanian ambush deep in the mountains.
In the aftermath, Gavicus was forced to enter into peace negotiations. At first, Rukhsana demanded the Aureans cede all their lands on Awal to the Haxamanians, which Gavicus flatly refused (The Exarchate of Tifinagh on Awal was one of Aurea's most valuable regions and ceding it to the Haxamanians would have meant an end to the grain dole and mass starvation across Aurea). Eventually, a deal was reached in which the Aureans would cede all their lands on Awal except the Exarchate of Tifinagh to the Haxamanians, and the Aureans would have to pay a huge war indemnity to the Haxamanians as well. The Aurean Exarchates of Nova Aurea, Kilikia, Meroe, Adua, the Imazi Tribal Lands, Carmania, and Caria were all permanently handed over to the Haxamanians, essentially rendering all of Gavicus's reconquests except those in Tifinagh moot. This was formalized in the humiliating Treaty of Mingora, which Gavicus was forced to sign.
Gavicus's popularity took a nosedive in the aftermath of this event, and he dedicated the rest of his reign to domestic policy, commissioning public works projects, throwing lavish games, and beginning by far his most important legacy: he decided that to keep up with the rest of the galaxy, Aurea needed to end its isolationism and industrialize along the Ishga model. He decided that Aurea's largest city, Nicopolis, would be a good place to test industrialization, and he hired Ishga scientists, architects, engineers, and developers to transform Nicopolis into a modern city. While Gavicus's popularity would never recover to the heights it was at after his victory over the Arturians, this was enough to keep him from being assassinated (at least for a while).
For the rest of Gavicus's life, Taftus would alternate between his extremely promising military career and a middling-to-poor one as an elected politician, helping Gavicus with some of his later projects such as industrialization but turning out to be too scandal-ridden and debauched to be the protege Gavicus wanted. For all his military talent, Taftus had a reputation for extreme abrasiveness and anger issues, and it seemed every other week there was another rumor going around about Taftus having massive orgies involving female politicians and/or prostitutes. While Gavicus would never fully disown Taftus, he had largely abandoned him as a protege by the end of his reign, assigning him military command of the backwater province of Tiorangi where he didn't have to pay much attention to him. The year before Gavicus died, he made Gorgo Gualtera his Magister Equitum, supreme commander of all cavalry forces in the Aurean Dominate after the previous officeholder died suddenly of a stroke. While Gavicus had no way of knowing this at the time, this decision would eventually result in both his own death and Aurea being pulled into the galaxy's broader confrontation with Tate years later that would result in the bloodiest war in galactic history.
Towards the end of his life, Gavicus befriended Pompeia, a young woman of mixed Aurean and Tangolian heritage who had spent much of her life on the Planet Arturia before returning to Aurea by accident. She rose to superstardom as a gladiator, having trained in magic under King Arturius, utilizing magic in combat in ways that hadn't been seen in millennia. He was both shocked and intrigued by Pomepeia's friendship and past brief romantic involvement with Rukhsana I Shahanzai of the Haxamanian Empire. Gavicus saw great potential in Pompeia and reinstated her Aurean citizenship, even allowing her to serve as his Consigliere after Tiverios was indicted on corruption charges. However, there was some tension between the two, as Pompeia was from Lapum, had witnessed the Lapum Riots as a child, and was critical of Gavicus's failure to address the longstanding discrimination against Tangolians that led to them. Less than a year later, Gavicus was assassinated under mysterious circumstances (it would later be discovered that Gorgo Gualtera arranged his murder and covered it up so well that no one even suspected her until she would eventually reveal her true intentions years later), and Pompeia ascended the throne as the first female Dominus (Domina) in history. Gavicus's body was cremated after his death and his urn was placed in the Mausoleum of the Domini in Astras. Decades of constant conflict with the Haxamanians, both under Gavicus and his predecessor Theodosius IV, as well as civil conflict, multiple Tangolian revolts, the Hoc Nostrum conflict, and the Amorican Wars with Arturia would leave Pompeia with an exhausted Aurean Dominate, bereft of manpower, resources, money, and talent that would be completely unprepared to deal with Tate and his machinations only a few years after Gavicus's death.

2024.05.19 22:49 MakiahLOL What is going on with that Frog Shaman deck? A quick deck guide!

What is Frog Shaman anyway?

Frog Shaman, Raggro Shaman, and Tempo Shaman are all names for this deck, which aims to develop an early board, buff that board with cheap spells, and win games through a mix of aggressively-statted minions and burst damage from hand. In my opinion, this deck has a lot of interesting lines to play, an above-average level of agency and skill expression, and a play style that aligns with the "Good Cards" piles we've seen in the past that many people associate with traditional Hearthstone.

Mulligan:

Always Keep:
Vs Aggro:
Vs Control:
Maybe Keeps (if you already have one of the above):

Gameplan

Vs Aggro: Control the board with burn spells, big minions, and taunts. Take value trades whenever possible. Against most fast decks, you can go wide with many small minions. Against Paladin, go tall with all your buffs on a large minion. Once you have a good board presence, start counting your damage in hand and potential damage from top decks and discovers. If you can likely kill your opponent in two turns, let your taunts do their job and start dealing damage. You have just as much burst damage as any aggro deck, if not more, so plan ahead. Once you have a clear lethal set up in two or three turns, work towards that.
Vs Control: Play minions when possible, then buff them with Jam Session and Companion when they survive a turn and can attack face. This makes your boards harder to clear and gets you as much value as possible out of both your spell and minion. If you buff a minion and it gets removed instantly, you're down two cards for one, which won't help you get ahead.
Keep in mind common removal AOE spells like Prismatic Beam, Bladestorm, Aftershocks, and Lightning Storm. On turn 4 against a Warrior, consider if you want to play into Bladestorm with your Backstage Bouncers or if you have other options. Weaker lines that play around removal can enable you to get just enough damage through for your combos to finish them off.
Vs Mage: Probably the hardest matchup in my opinion. To beat them, don't let them get any chip damage with minions. Fight for the board like your life depends on it. If you take 6 damage over two turns from minions, the Mage is very likely to kill you from hand. Once you get board control, keep developing minions that demand answers. Jive Insect is good for this, as it can turn anything into a must-answer Ragnaros.
Vs Warlock: Count damage all game. Set up a turn to kill them from hand all at once rather than spacing out your damage.

Combos

This deck relies heavily on powerful combos and two-turn game plans that provide either a huge amount of burst damage or build an impossible-to-deal-with board. Plan your overload around these combos as much as you can.

Flex Cards

In the provided list, I prefer Conductivity because the most explosive turn you can have is Conductivity + Jive Insect. However, all of these cards are playable. If the deck isn't working for you, try these out. Facing constant Paladins? Try more control options. Lots of spell-based decks? Try Speaker Stomper.

Conclusion

Thanks for reading! I really want to keep practicing this deck. I don't think it's an absolute tier 1 monster yet, but it is definitely playable. I was able to cruise at around 400 Legend with the deck, but others have hit top 100 with it. This deck should be an easy Legend climb and should do well at most ranks.
For VODs, check out my stream at twitch.tv/makiahtime. I've been playing this about 3 hours every day.

2024.05.19 22:37 DutyTop8086 Why Some Sellers Never Succeed on Amazon FBA?

Success and failure are inevitable in any business, including Amazon FBA. When I started my journey on Amazon FBA, I quickly realized that certain mistakes could spell disaster if not addressed. Here are some key reasons why some sellers fail to succeed on Amazon FBA, based on my personal experiences and observations.

Poor Inventory Planning

When I first started selling on Amazon, I underestimated the complexity of inventory management. Inventory can be expensive, especially when you have a wide range of products. I learned the hard way that effective inventory planning is crucial for success. Amazon’s Inventory Performance Index (IPI) system, introduced in 2018, is designed to help sellers manage their inventory efficiently. However, if you don't plan your inventory well, you'll incur higher storage fees. I remember a time when my garage was overflowing with unsold stock, and the mounting storage fees were eating into my profits. Over time, these fees can significantly impact your profitability and hinder your success on FBA.

Inadequate Profit Margin Planning

Profit margin planning is essential for any business, especially in e-commerce. Beyond storage fees, Amazon charges fulfillment fees and a marketplace fee, which is 15% per unit. When I started, I was so excited to make sales that I didn't pay enough attention to my profit margins. After selling hundreds of units, I realized my margins were too thin to cover all the additional fees. If your products don't have enough margin to cover these costs, your profits will suffer. Over time, inadequate profit margins can prevent you from succeeding on FBA. I had to go back to the drawing board, reassess my pricing strategy, and choose products with healthier margins to ensure sustainable growth.

Poor Understanding of Profitability on a Per SKU Basis

Understanding the profitability of each SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is crucial for any Amazon seller. This includes knowing all the costs involved, such as storage, fulfillment, and marketplace fees. Amazon is a very margin-specific business, and you need to know exactly how much Amazon takes from each unit's sale. Initially, I didn't fully grasp this concept. I was enthusiastic about listing multiple products, but I didn't take the time to analyze the profitability of each SKU. This oversight led to several products that, despite selling well, were not making enough profit. Clear insight into the profitability of each SKU is a key driver of success on FBA. By meticulously calculating and tracking these costs, I was able to identify and focus on the most profitable items, which was a game-changer for my business.

Neglecting Customer Feedback

One mistake I made early on was not paying enough attention to customer feedback. Customer reviews and feedback are goldmines of information that can help you improve your products and listings. I had a product that received several complaints about its packaging, which I initially ignored. This oversight cost me a lot of potential sales. Once I started addressing these issues and improving my products based on customer feedback, my sales and customer satisfaction increased significantly.

Ignoring Amazon's Rules and Policies

Amazon has strict rules and policies, and not adhering to them can lead to account suspensions or bans. In my early days, I didn't fully understand all the guidelines and ended up having one of my listings removed. It's essential to stay updated with Amazon's policies and ensure compliance. This includes everything from product descriptions and images to customer service and returns. Learning from this experience, I made it a point to regularly review Amazon's guidelines and adapt my practices accordingly.\Success on Amazon FBA requires meticulous planning, continuous learning, and adaptability. By avoiding common pitfalls and focusing on effective inventory management, profit margin planning, understanding profitability per SKU, listening to customer feedback, and adhering to Amazon's rules, you can significantly increase your chances of success. My journey was filled with ups and downs, but each challenge taught me valuable lessons that contributed to my growth as an Amazon seller. If you stay committed and proactive, you can navigate the complexities of Amazon FBA and build a thriving business.
