2024.05.20 09:05 max_sil Anything playing stalker songs on guitar? It would be great to hear if you have any tips on technique or just fun songs you like to play

I used this tab for Dirge for the planet: https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/firelake/dirge-for-the-planet-guitar-pro-841279
And it's an amazing tab (and song ofc). Really like that there are so many fingerpicking songs, since i mostly play with my fingers instead of a pick. Do you have any sings you think are fun to play that are stalker related?
Also does anyone know what that fast playing style that sounds like flamenco guitar that you sometimes hear stalkers play around the campfire is called? I kind of assume it's some sort folk style of guitar from eastern europe. But i would love to know more about it

2024.05.20 08:57 Puzzleheaded-Set5646 Save Big on Candy & Chocolate Supplies! Buy Wholesale Chocolate in Canada

Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." - Forrest Gump
How true are these immortal words spoken by the lovable Forrest Gump. Chocolates are indeed full of surprises - from the rich, velvety ganache oozing out as you bite into a truffle, to the satisfying crack of a chocolate shell revealing a gooey caramel center. And what could be more delightfully surprising than getting wholesale prices on all your favorite chocolate bars and candies right here in Canada?
At Candyville, we don't just sell sweets - we peddle joy. Our mission is to make that child-like sparkle of pure bliss available to everyone by offering the best quality chocolates, candies and confections at outrageously low wholesale prices. Why should such heavenly indulgences be kept out of reach for most?
Speaking of heavenly indulgences, let's take a moment to revel in the sheer perfection that is chocolate. Has there ever been a more universally loved food? Even the grumpiest of grumps can't resist cracking a smile at the very mention of chocolate. It's like the edible equivalent of receiving a warm hug. And that's because chocolate quite literally makes you happier by stimulating the release of endorphins in the brain. So it's no wonder that the world has been besotted with this magical elixir for centuries.
From Sacred Bean to Sinful Delight: Chocolate's Rich Legacy
While its exact origins are unknown, legends say that chocolate was first discovered by the ancient Mesoamericans around 1900 BC. The Mayan civilization worshiped a God of Cacao and the Aztecs used cocoa beans as currency. When Spanish explorer Hernán Cortés arrived in Mexico in 1519, he was gifted with the treasured cacao beverage which he found utterly revolting at first due to its bitter taste and spiced flavor. But like anyone who has acquired a taste for fine chocolate, he couldn't get enough once he tried the sweetened version back in Spain.
From there, the chocolate love affair spread rapidly across Europe where it was embraced by aristocrats and given an air of luxury and exclusivity. That aura has persisted through modern times, with premium chocolates being equated with indulgence, elegance and sophistication. Who can forget the iconic seduction scene in the 1992 film Indecent Proposal where billionaire John Gage feeds Demi Moore's character chocolate-covered strawberries to reel her in?
But why should such decadence be limited to the elite?
Here at Candyville, we're all about democratizing chocolate. From the silkiest Swiss truffles to chunky nut-studded English toffee, we offer an endless array of chocolate goodies that will blow your mind (and maybe your diet). But here's the best part - you can now buy wholesale chocolate in Canada and save a fortune.

2024.05.20 08:51 mamafihin0kcui Clear and Secret Goals of Moscow

In mid-May 2024, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (the upper house of the parliament) considered the issue of reappointing Sergey Lavrov to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (which he has held since March 2004). During the parliamentary consultations, the head of the diplomatic service of the Russian Federation, among other things, commented on the ongoing war of Russia against Ukraine, as well as the Peace Conference in the Swiss Confederation to find a way to a just end to this war.
According to Lavrov, Russia is not afraid to decide the fate of Eastern Europe by a military confrontation with Ukraine, but also by an armed conflict with the states of the West. “We are not afraid of it, we are ready for it,” Russia's chief diplomat said in a threatening tone. It should be noted that during the last month, some influential politicians and officials of the Russian Federation also stated that the Russian army would firmly and mercilessly destroy all foreign contingents on the territory of Ukraine, if they really were there.
As for the upcoming Global Peace Summit (Bürgenstock resort, canton of Nidwalden, near the city of Lucerne, June 15-16), which is convened by the government of Switzerland, Lavrov was openly indignant about the fact that Russia was not invited there, although he stated that he would not go there, even in the case of an invitation from Bern.
Lavrov expressed deep regret over the fact that Sweden and Finland ceased to be neutral states both de facto and de jure, while Austria and Switzerland lost their neutrality. All of them support Ukraine today, the head of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded with regret. At the same time, the main Russian diplomat did not ask very important question why all the listed states, neutral until recently, suddenly decided to unite in supporting Ukraine!?
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also accused Kyiv, Bern and Western countries of ignoring other peace initiatives put forward by China, Brazil, the Republic of South Africa and, finally, the League of Arab States. Moreover, according to Lavrov, the most comprehensive and deeply developed (which indirectly indicates that it was created in close coordination between Beijing and Moscow) is the peace plan of the Chinese communists.
Finally, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation promised that his state would force Kyiv/the West to consider the sure gains that Russian troops have achieved on the ground. It should be recalled that the updated text of the Constitution of the Russian Federation refers to the annexation of Crimea and four regions of Ukraine (Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson). There is no doubt that Russian legislators are ready to introduce an amendment to the Basic Law of the Russian Federation on the accession of the Kharkiv region as soon as possible.
Undoubtedly, Moscow will agree to some peace negotiations with Kyiv/the West only in case of recognition of its territorial claims (although some of them are purely illusory in nature). However, even if we imagine that a peace agreement between democratic Ukraine and totalitarian Russia is reached, there is no doubt that it will be used by the Kremlin as the time window for a new invasion of Russian troops, first into other regions of Ukraine, then into Moldova, and other post-Soviet states.

🔗Fast and Stylish Hoonigan Hoonicorn RC Car

https://preview.redd.it/jaxp8bpx2j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e2db077efeb75710b5db7726e9c4cb558fe72eb
As a remote control car enthusiast, I've always been on the lookout for a vehicle that delivers thrill, performance, and visually appealing design. The Flybar Hoonigan Hoonicorn met all my expectations and more. The moment I unboxed it, I knew this wasn't just another toy but a collector's dream.
The first thing that struck me was its sleek, black design. It perfectly replicates the iconic Hoonicorn, an aggressive and unorthodox racing car. Flybar, known for producing high-performance toys, ensured that every detail of the car was meticulously crafted, making it a joy to behold and show off.
Operating the car was incredibly easy. With its intuitive remote control, even young kids can learn to navigate it in no time. My 7-year-old son loved it and had a blast making the car do doughnuts around our living room. The battery life is impressive too, lasting long enough for multiple play sessions before needing a recharge.
Speaking of recharge, this remote-controlled car comes with rechargeable batteries, which is a nice touch considering how expensive replaceable batteries can get. Plus, they charge relatively quickly, so there's not much downtime between play sessions.
However, there are a few minor drawbacks to this otherwise excellent product. The car can become a bit unwieldy at high speeds, especially when performing tight turns. It can also be quite noisy, but that's part of the excitement, isn't it?
Overall, the Flybar Hoonigan Hoonicorn is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a fast, easy-to-use, and visually appealing remote-controlled car. It's perfect for kids and adults alike who want to experience the adrenaline-pumping thrill of racing without breaking the bank.

🔗High-Speed 1:20 Scale RC Monster Truck with 4x4 Waterproof Functionality

https://preview.redd.it/a8rw3vfy2j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65a4e7de6cdd8c825e0cd0aa7320250ce6326a75
I recently got my hands on these high-speed remote control cars, and I have to say, they've been a blast! As someone who loves off-road adventures, I was especially excited to test out their 4x4 capabilities.
What really stood out to me was the powerful built-in motor that comes with these trucks. It provides enough power to scorch tires and handle rough terrains with ease. I also appreciated the extended run time, thanks to the two rechargeable batteries. This means more fun without having to constantly stop and recharge.
The show-stopping looks and extraordinary grip of the 1:20 scale trucks are definitely another highlight. They're perfect for impressing friends or simply enjoying some speedy fun on your own. And speaking of speed, these trucks can reach up to 30 KMH, making them quite the thrill ride!
On the downside, one thing I noticed was that the controls take a little getting used to, especially if you're new to remote control vehicles. However, after spending some time with the pistol-like 2.4GHz radio remote controller, I was able to navigate through obstacles quite smoothly.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a cheap yet fast remote control car that offers impressive performance and durability, then these 1:20 scale trucks might just be the perfect fit for you. Just remember to give yourself some time to master those controls, and you'll be tearing up the tracks in no time!

🔗Fast and Durable 4x4 Off-Road RC Truck

https://preview.redd.it/18hdpeoy2j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea40e94fae736355caea746139fcef91271b6408
As an avid thrill-seeker, I was excited to give the Tecnock Fast RC Cars a try. This 4x4 remote control truck sure didn't disappoint! I was blown away by its speed - reaching up to 40km/h - all thanks to its 380 brushed motor. Plus, the professional steering system gave me stable control, making each drive a colorful experience.
The shock absorption suspension system was also a major plus. The metal spring shock absorber is adjustable and ensures strong anti-collision and shock resistance, extending the toy car's life cycle. Its translucent car shell with bright LED lights added an extra level of coolness and visibility.
One of the best features was the inclusion of two 7.4V 800mAh rechargeable batteries and a USB charger. This extends the driving time to more than 40 minutes and can be charged via USB, making it fast and convenient.
However, one downside, though not a major one, was the durability of the plastic body. It's made of high-quality material, but it's still plastic, so I had to be careful while maneuvering it.
All said and done, the Tecnock Fast RC Cars were a perfect blend of high-speed thrill, durability, and easy usability. Great for kids aged 14 and up, and a fantastic gift option!

🔗Military Grade RC Hobby Rock Crawler Truck: Real-Time Driving & 4WD

https://preview.redd.it/271klh2z2j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4069c4f4c0acf020b12e78c45a6f1eb95253709
I recently got my hands on the REMOKING RC Hobby Toys Military Truck - a perfect gift for both kids and adults who love a little adventure in their lives. This remote-controlled truck is not just a toy, but a thrilling off-road experience. The first time I took it out for a spin, I was blown away by how easily it maneuvered across different terrains, from the ground to the mountains.
One of the most exciting features of this truck is its real-time driving capabilities. With a Wi-Fi camera equipped, I could watch my truck navigate through obstacles in real time. It was definitely a unique and thrilling experience that made me want to play with it for hours!
The truck is made for all-terrain driving. It's got 4-wheel drive, making it perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. However, what stood out the most during my testing was its high-frequency 2.4GHz transmitter system. This ensured I had complete control over the truck from a distance, which made the overall experience even more enjoyable.
To wrap up, although the truck is perfect for driving across varied terrains and providing real-time video feeds, the battery life could be improved. But overall, this is an awesome remote-controlled truck that delivers on the promise of fun and adventure.

🔗Fast and Customizable 1:10 Scale RC Car (65 KM/H Speed)

https://preview.redd.it/zz15twjz2j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=98028ae05768f8ae512c3682cb9d82dbb9b3e440
As soon as I got my hands on this 1:10 scale brushless RC car, I knew it was going to be a game-changer. Right out of the box, it was ready to go, and its crazy fast speed had me racing around the neighborhood in no time. The customizable settings on the ESC made it easy to tweak for optimal performance, and the Li-Po battery ensured I could enjoy the thrill of racing without worrying about running out of juice.
What really stood out for me was the monster trucks' durability and ability to handle any terrain. The oil-filled metal shocks and heavy-duty wheels allowed me to take on sand, rocks, or concrete with ease, and the option to switch between two included body shells made it a real head-turner.
The only downside I encountered was the limited range of the remote control - but that was quickly remedied by keeping it closer to me while racing. Overall, this 65 km/h speed remote control car has been a great addition to my toy collection, and I can't wait to see how far I can push its capabilities.

🔗Micro Fasten' Racing Car, Super Small Wireless C Vehicle

https://preview.redd.it/pg1hcqvz2j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b39cd761e2a6b1d0684c6b3f32725b6912af5ac
I recently picked up the Westminster Worlds Smallest C Car Random Color for my kids, and it's proven to be a huge hit in our household. This tiny powerhouse is perfect for those who love remote-controlled toys without taking up too much space. The 8-direction movement feature makes it incredibly easy to navigate through obstacles, and the headlights ensure clear visibility even in low-light conditions.
However, the rechargeable lithium battery does take a while to charge, so patience is key. On the flip side, the remote requires three AA batteries, which aren't included in the package - a minor inconvenience, but not a deal-breaker. Overall, this micro-scale C car is a great choice for those who enjoy small, fast remote-controlled vehicles that offer hours of entertainment.

🔗Fast and Durable RC Car for Outdoor Adventures

https://preview.redd.it/xu0q5i803j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58912737508251ba386c8d9a4854a1fb1b9feb04
I must admit, I've never been much of a remote control car enthusiast. But when I laid my hands on this Tecnock speedster, I couldn't resist giving it a whirl. The first thing that struck me was its sleek design - it looks every bit a racing machine you'd see on the racing track. The bright LED headlights make it stand out even more.
As for the performance, well, it doesn't disappoint there either. The 1:16 scale makes it perfect for both indoor and outdoor play. The 25 km/h top speed ensures it doesn't get left behind in the dust. And the 2.4GHz remote control ensures no interference even if you're racing with other cars.
The large 7.4V 1000mAh batteries provide quite the playtime, lasting over an hour on a single charge. But the standout feature for me was the sturdy build quality. The high-quality ABS material, coupled with the anti-crash rubber tires, meant my rough landings didn't result in any serious damage.
On the flip side, the car doesn't perform too well on wet surfaces. Also, the lack of an all-inclusive controller battery can be a bit of a letdown.
Overall, the Tecnock Remote Control Car offers a thrilling ride at a reasonable price. It's perfect for both adults and kids who love a little bit of adventure on four wheels.

Buyer's Guide

Remote controlled (RC) cars are a popular hobby for many enthusiasts, offering the thrill of racing at high speeds without the risk or expense of full-scale automobiles. While some RC cars can be quite expensive, there are plenty of cheap fast options available that still provide an exhilarating experience. In this section, we will discuss important features to consider when buying a cheap fast RC car and provide general advice to ensure you get the most out of your purchase.

Features to Consider

https://preview.redd.it/fiz3z5u03j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97b2e9cee6eefc1c56c356d139eef985751d6611
  • Motor: The type of motor in your RC car will greatly affect its top speed and overall performance. Look for models with high-quality brushless motors, which generally offer more power and efficiency than traditional brushed motors.
  • Battery Type: Lithium-polymer (LiPo) batteries tend to have a higher voltage capacity than other battery types, resulting in increased speed and power. However, they may also be more expensive and require special charging considerations.
  • Wheel Type: Soft foam tires provide better grip on various terrains and may allow for faster speeds on some surfaces. Hard plastic or rubber tires are often faster on smooth surfaces, but may offer less control and stability.

Build Quality and Durability

Since cheap fast RC cars are more likely to encounter wear and tear from constant high-speed racing, it's crucial to choose a model with robust construction and quality materials. Look for vehicles with sturdy chassis, reinforced shock absorbers, and strong suspension components to ensure your investment lasts as long as possible.

Consider the Terrain

The area where you plan to race your RC car plays a significant role in determining which model is best for you. If you're primarily racing on pavement or smooth concrete surfaces, a dedicated on-road racer with slick tires may be the ideal choice. However, if you're planning to race off-road, you'll need a vehicle with rugged suspension, large knobby tires, and adequate ground clearance to handle rough terrain.

  • Start with a Ready-to-Run (RTR) model: These vehicles come pre-assembled and include everything you need to start racing right away, making them perfect for beginners.
  • Learn basic maintenance: Regular cleaning, checking for loose screws, and inspecting electronic components will help extend the life of your RC car and maintain optimal performance.
  • Join an RC car community: Connecting with other hobbyists can offer valuable advice, product recommendations, and insights into racing strategies and techniques.
A cheap fast RC car can provide hours of excitement and competitive fun, but choosing the right model is essential for maximizing your enjoyment. By considering factors such as motor type, battery capacity, wheel design, build quality, and intended racing terrain, you'll be well-equipped to find the perfect vehicle for your needs. And by following some general advice, such as starting with an RTR model and maintaining your vehicle properly, you'll ensure that your new hobby lasts for many years to come.

2024.05.20 08:30 BearMcBearFace 1100 mile round trip. Longest so far and still as impressed as ever with it.

We’ve just done our longest round trip so far of about 1100 miles through the U.K. from Mid Wales and across to eastern Belgium right in the Dutch border. Our Kona is our first EV so naturally when we first got it we had some elements of range apprehension (wouldn’t go as far to call it anxiety), but after owning it for 2.5 years we’re pretty comfortable with driving long distances and not worrying about charging opportunities.
What has helped us is we now have a 7 month old baby, so regular breaks of a decent period are a necessity and we have lots to do during them so can get a decent charge around changing and feeding him.
Thoughts on the U.K. charging network - it’s increased in capacity by an order of magnitudes over the last year or two and finding somewhere to charge en-route wasn’t an issue at all. Being totally honest, charging in Wales is still somewhat limited, but as we have a home charger we can always have enough of a charge to get us out of Wales, but if desperate most supermarkets have a small charging bank so a slight detour can usually get you to a charger.
Once we reached Europe what shocked me was how many rapid chargers there are simply not being used. There was never any shortage of space to charge up at all. I’m not sure if this is due to a low uptake of EVs or charging / travel habits. I had read a few older blogs of people travelling through France that needed an app and a French address to be able to charge an EV, but using Octopus Electroverse we found no shortage of chargers at all and could conveniently use our Electroverse card in all countries to just add the charges to our domestic electricity bill.
One thing I was really pleasantly surprised at was the cost of charging in France. In the U.K. for a rapid charger of >150kw you’re generally looking at £0.65/kwh upwards to charge. In France it was €0.32/kwh for a 300kw charger in Lidl Calais.
All in all I’d be more than happy to take it across Europe through more countries and don’t think I would feel any more limited than if I were to be going away in an ICE. The Kona is yet again proving that the tech is here despite what many people sucked in to some weird culture war against EVs would have you believe.

2024.05.20 08:28 APeacefulWarrior Shadow Hearts (PS2) - A so-so start to a nearly-forgotten cult trilogy

TL;DR: Shadow Hearts is at its best when its reveling in its weird scenario and unusual character lineup, but suffers from a lot of issues common to early 6th gen JRPGs - and its biggest sin is that the combat is downright boring.
Shadow Hearts is one of those franchises that constantly comes up on 'best games you never played' lists, yet despite seeing three back-to-back releases on PS2, it somehow never even hit enough critical mass to even count as a cult classic. Instead, it's largely sunk into the memory hole.
Is it due to its first true entry being a pretty mid game? Maybe.
The Good
Shadow Hearts makes a strong first impression with its genuinely unique setting - the real world, in the late 1910s. Moreover, the first half of the game takes place in China while it was under Japanese occupation. I've never seen another game to ever have that as the setting, much less one from a Japanese developer! (They don't like talking about the Imperial days.) On top of that, the game is fundamentally horror themed, with a really interesting mashup of Victorian gothic, Lovecraftian, and Daoist horror tropes.
So if you want a JRPG with a totally unique setting, Shadow Hearts definitely has that going for it.
The game also features one of the more unusual casts of heroes to show up in a JRPG. By the end, your party includes:
  • A loveable (sometimes) jerkass American as our protagonist, who can transform into demons
  • A British Christian woman who prays her way to victory while smacking enemies with her Bible
  • An ancient Chinese master of Daoist magic
  • An overenthusiastic mercenary lady who likes explosives a bit too much
  • A friendly vampire who's mostly there because he was bored from centuries cooped up in his castle
  • A Dickensian waif, complete with newsie cap
Later on, the game's action moves to a grand tour of Europe, including Germany, France, and England. You get to cover a lot of ground in this one! The artwork was clearly drawn without much in the way of reference material, more of a dreamlike reimagining of the early 20th century.
Graphically, it's nothing special. It continues the 5th Gen method of using pre-rendered backgrounds with polygonal characters on top, and CGI cutscenes for major events. Honestly, at times it just feels like an upscaled PSX game, and rarely makes good use of the PS2's power. Still, the artwork is generally nice, within this style. Plus, the monster designs are genuinely creative, with some of the most interesting creatures I've seen outside of an Atlus game.
And it features one gimmick unique to this franchise: The Judgement Ring. It's basically a QTE, with a line sweeping around a round dial, and you have to hit the X button when it passes over certain hit zones. Every time you attempt to attack, or do any other battle action, you have to hit 1-5 marks on the dial for the action to succeed. Small red areas, much harder to hit, add power to the action, much like a crit.
The Ring of Doom also gets used for various other actions, such as haggling in shops, or performing actions on the map. Basically, you'll be spending a lot of time doing precise button-presses.
Unfortunately, this is where the game's good aspects mostly stop.
The Bad
Many of the game's problems are simply due to it being an early-2000s JRPG, with many of the issues common to that time - such as battles being filled with overly-long repetitive magic spell animations that get very old, very quickly. Worse, because of the nature of the combat and its QTEs, you can't just play the game on fast-forward in an emulator. At least, not without constantly toggling FF on and off.
Making the combat worse is that it's simply boring. They don't actually do anything interesting with the Ring of Honor. It's just there to slow down your commands and punish you for not constantly giving the game your full attention. Otherwise, the combat is absolutely bog-standard stuff, with two lines of combatants taking turns wacking each other.
In theory, elemental weaknesses come into play, but their effect on battles seems absolutely minimal. Even the hero's demon transformations just grant a couple extra magic powers and extra-powerful standard attacks. The only other halfway interesting aspect is that the enemies are ruthless about spamming status effects, including ones which can make the Dial of Destiny invisible to prevent you from attacking! Which is just obnoxious, frankly.
To its credit, at least the game keeps the encounter rate fairly low. But that's faint praise.
Plus, of course, all the bosses are big sacks of hit points, leading to tedious 20+ minute battles as you whittle down their health. Attack, attack, heal. Attack, attack, heal. Attack, attack, heal. Neither side has enough attacks or buff options to actually make the fight interesting. Either you go into it with sufficient magic and consumables to survive, or you don't.
Likewise, while I love the setting and scenario, the actual plot is a silly cliche storm. A bad guy wants to destroy the world to save it. Our plucky heroes have to kill god. You've seen it a million times. I found the game was actually more interesting in its episodic moments, when the heroes wander into a town that's haunted by an evil spirit or such, and have to deal with that. By the end, the combination of the rote story and annoying/boring combat made me really hate trudging through the obligatory too-long final dungeon.
Piling onto the issues, I also really disliked the soundtrack. The main battle theme in the first half is genuinely one of the worst I've ever heard. It would have been OK as a one-off bespoke boss battle track, but it became downright grating quite quickly. Most of the rest of the tracks were unexceptional, and occasionally felt out of place (like a bouncy happy theme for a London slum?), with very little standing out.
And while the English voice dubbing in cutscenes and battles does have that early-aughts cheesy charm, it's surprisingly inconsistent on what got dubbed. Some characters even switch between English and Japanese during their battle cries!
Then on top of everything else, the game is absolutely FULL of missable content, including entire side-quests in new locations. Even important stuff like how to unlock your most powerful demons and attacks are gated behind completely unintuitive actions. And if you want to see the good ending, you pretty much have to follow a guide - not unless you're willing to religiously go back to every previous area and talk to every previous NPC, over and over after every plot beat.
In Conclusion
Can Shadow Hearts be recommended solely on its own merits? I'm not sure it can. The unusual scenario and Red Ring of Death gimmick just weren't enough to hold my interest, even with its relatively short 25-30 hour playtime, when the rest of the game design was just so mid. However, it seems that the sequels are considered much better games, so at least I'm still interested in continuing the franchise. Although I think I'll take a break before playing the next one.

2024.05.20 08:23 Meijermk Advice on 2017 Ecoboost purchase

Advice on 2017 Ecoboost purchase
A local municipality in my area is auctioning a 2017 F150 3.5L Ecoboost XLT supercab (Here’s the listing: https://www.govdeals.com/asset/44/16769)
The truck has 370,000km (approx 230,000 miles) with it being serviced every 7,000km. Most of these being highway miles. It has 6700 engine hours, 1500 of them being idle. The exterior of the truck looks to be in good condition. The interior has some wear from use but is overall good. The suspension, frame, brakes, and body are all in good condition with next to no rust.
When I test drove it, it felt on par with a 2020 F150 I’ve driven. The responsiveness, acceleration, brakes, electrical, shifting, 4x4, all felt good. Overall it felt good to drive and didn’t give me any issues.
Although good things don’t come without a catch. Here’s some of the issues (or what I think are issues) that I noticed. The minor ones being listed first:
1) The muffler was leaking a black liquid, which I presume was condensation and carbon, but I thought I’d note it.
2) The engine oil was running slightly hotter than average, nothing of concern, and I was pushing it a bit.
3) When coming to a stop, the RPMs would drop down, but the rad fan would stay noticeably reved up for a few seconds before dropping down.
4) The engine tended to have a rough low idle where it would drop down RPMs, have a slight stutter, then rev up slightly. This may have correlation to #5 which is the most concerning.
Now to the most concerning issue:
5) When at idle the engine sounded as if it was a diesel (I’ll link a clip). From the research I’ve done this sound is fairly common with this engine having to do with the cam phasers starting to fail. I didn’t noticed the related startup rattle that people report, but I never got the chance to cold start it. I’ve read that this issue can go unresolved and cause no issues, people having driven them for another 100k. But then others say it can lead to engine failure and to replace it ASAP. It was mentioned to me by a secondary source that the truck recently got quoted for 7k worth of engine repairs, but I haven’t been able to confirm this yet.
I’m hoping that someone could provide some input into if this would be a worth while purchase, or one that would cost me in the future. I love how this truck drove and it definitely fits my lifestyle, I just don’t want it to cause havoc. If I were to get it, I intend to maintain it well and not bag it around.
Thanks

2024.05.20 08:18 Local_Skye2121 Is there a technique on driving A/T car on Steep road

Hello. My ate drove our car (BRV) from Laguna to Cavite kahapon. Dumaan kami sa may Tagaytay-Talisay Road and first time ni ate magdrive ng ganung road using an automatic car pa. (Zigzag and paakyat ng bundok) Bali 6 kami na sakay kasama yung ate ko na nagdrive. Super hirap yung engine like parang feeling namin lahat magstop yung car. Literal na gapang.
Natry siya iturn to s mode pero she felt like mas hirap daw yung engine. Sabi ko itry niya yung paddle shifter if it will change a thing pero parang wala naman daw and kusa bumababa. So bumalik siya sa drive mode medyo better daw ng slight compared sa S mode.
Meron daw po ba technique how to drive A/T sa ganun kasi plan namin this coming weekend mag Bicol. Torn kami if mag bitukang manok pa ba since yun nag reco ng mga kamag anak namin na daanan kesa daw sa patag puro trucks.

2024.05.20 08:15 Hardhornyarab Vacation hookups

Hey guys
I’m planning on going to Europe in a few days and I’m mainly staying with some gay friends in Spain. I really want to hook up with a few guys down there since we’re gonna be checking out the gay clubs but I’m worried that I’ll catch something since I’m not on prep. For context I’m a bottom but if I heard that if I take one prep pill (from my friend) I can reduce my chances of transmission by 50%. If I do that and make sure to use condoms do you think it’s worth the risk or should I just not do it. I’ll also make sure my partners are on prep but I know I can’t trust anyone. Any advise?

Be more Efficient: Punjabi Truckers on Form 2290
https://preview.redd.it/8y4b8q3awi1d1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b692a4bca1fc6bd51d2603d9b729c269e8f93823
For truck drivers, especially when they have to deal with certain requirements such as 2290 form for heavy highway vehicles tax, filing out tax forms can be difficult. We’ve put together expert advice and critical information to help Punjabi truckers maximize efficiency and compliance.

What is Form 2290?

This is an important document for truckers who operate large vehicles on the public roads of America. It helps in determining and paying Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) used for road construction and maintenance. The levy applies to those trucks with a gross weight of fifty-five thousand pounds or above covering one year ranging from July 1st to June 30th. Understanding why this form matters and its timelines will lead to efficient fulfillment.

Filing Date Deadlines and Requirements

To avoid fines, be mindful of the key dates. If you use a vehicle on public highways during a month, the IRS requires that you file your Form 2290 by the end of the following month of that month which was first used. For most drivers, this deadline falls around August thirty-first each year. You are required to have an EIN (Employer Identification Number), VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and taxable gross weight for each vehicle in order to file.

Selecting the Right Method of Filing

Form-2290 may be submitted through electronic means or by mail by motor carriers themselves. For drivers with twenty-five or more vehicles, e-filing is recommended but it works well for any driver because it’s convenient and fast. E-filing reduces chances of errors plus gives immediate confirmation receipt sent by IRS so that you get Schedule 1 copy stamped back to you faster necessary for registration of your vehicle.

Preparing Accurate Information

On time filing Form 2290 needs accuracy. Wrong information can lead to a delay in processing your paperwork, penalties or even rejection of your application document. Have accurate records for your VIN numbers, taxable gross weight and any suspended vehicles with mileage use limits less than the threshold. Crosscheck everything before submitting.

Taking Advantage of Professional Assistance

The nature of the tax code surrounding Form 2290 and trucking industry regulations may overwhelm individuals. In case you are overwhelmed, consider hiring an expert on tax issues who has experience working with Form 2290 as well those in trucking industry. They will offer invaluable insights, ensure accuracy and allow you to exploit any credits available like credit for sold, destroyed or underutilized cars (for agricultural vehicles it is seven thousand five hundred miles) or trucks.

Availing Available Resources

Many resources are available to assist Punjabi truckers understand these requirements for complying with form 2290. The IRS website provides step-by-step instructions and answers frequently asked questions. Moreover, community organizations and industry associations often host seminars catering specifically to owners of commercial trucks.

2024.05.20 08:09 PMedT [WTS] ANVIS 6/9 Low Profile NVG Battery Pack

Timestamp
I’ve got a brand new condition ANVIS battery pack with the standard 4-pin LEMO plug to run your ANVIS 6/9, RNVG, Katana, or whatever other housing you have that takes the LEMO plug battery pack. Uses two sets of AA batteries instead of the expensive CR123A and has a switch to choose which pair of AA’s you draw power from (kind of like an old truck where you could choose between two gas tanks) so that you’ve always got a spare set of batteries on standby.
Here’s a link to this exact product
These go for $350 in surplus (used) condition if you can ever find them(never actually seen it in stock), $450 new. This one is in like new condition as can be seen in photos and I’m asking $350. (TV=400)
I’d also be interested in trading for an Aimpoint Duty RDS, Aimpoint ACRO, Eotech XPS3/EXPS3/552, Vortex UH-1, or Holosun 509T if it’s in like new condition. A little cash on my end could be negotiated for an ACRO P2 or Eotech.

Big jump from a G923 and folding seat, makes it hard to turn in for the night
Got the whole CSL set with the load cell pedal and shifter. Will eventually have triple TVs, so got the Next Level Racing triple display mount. Seat is the NLR GTlite. Oh boy do I have notes on those.
The seat was pretty easy to assemble, but the bracket for the shifter had a bend where it attaches to the frame, so I had to pry that open with a hammer. Everything was from the NLR web store so I just sent it knowing I could drop the whole thing off at a UPS and call it good. Attaching the seat frame took 4 M8 bolts, the instructions said M6 and the M6 was in the parts, but M6 was too narrow and just fell through the hole. Took a trip to the hardware store to get M8 bolts to get it assembled.
Since then it's been pretty solid even with the load cell pedal. I've had to tighten some bolts down over the last few days since I've been using it but once that's done they're good. Wish the shifter was a little more solid but it's a huge improvement over folding seat and G923 shifter.
The monitor frame... it's sold as supporting 32" and up displays. I got three 32 inch Samsing odyssey G5s, which have been great. The stand has brackets that are sized for TV mounts - to get the 100mm Vesa to bolt in took three wall mounts for smaller tvs between the screens and the NLR brackets. The dimensions are off if you have 32 inch screens also, they don't meet neatly at the edges - I solved this with tilting TV brackets attached sideways so I can tilt the inside edges away from the frame and line them up with the center display. Took a bunch of extra bolts from the hardware store. At least assembly was easy.
I cheated out on the cockpit and monitor stand because I bought the DD setup and displays at the same time and had to cut costs somewhere. In the end a couple hundred bucks more for a better cockpit would have been the right call, but this is so much better that I'm not worried about that for a while. The stand is dogshit for monitors, but with TVs it would have been perfect. If I wasn't going to go triple 55s down the line I would have sent it back. Once it's dialed in it's great, although I wish there was more room between the center display and the frame itself.
I'd get the DD motor under the monitor but I have them upside down to get the display lower, but the tops of the G5s are more rounded on the back vs the lower halves and it doesn't fit. The displays are just low enough, if I lifted the seat like 4 inches I think it'd be perfect but as it is my eyes are centered on the displays.
Fanatec gear arrived 4 days after I ordered, no issues outside of some issues caused by game crashes while I get everything configured.
The RTX 4080 has four outputs, but it'll only play nice with up to three. A fourth display will just be inactive. Have my desk monitor running through a switch I can use to manually toggle the power to it, which works for now.
Total cost was a lot, driven up by TV mounts, new power strips, longer cables, and extra hardware. Took a few hours a day for like three days to assemble everything and tie up cables so I don't have a bunch of spaghetti on the floor. Cracking a beer and going on an 800 mole delivery in Truck Sim makes it worth it. MX5 on The 'Ring is excellent as always.

2024.05.20 07:34 Level-Oven-7168 Yet another grinder question

Hello! I’ve been lurking for a while but now feel compelled to post since the more I research the more overwhelmed I get.
I’ve been a lover of espressos but never tried my hand at making them myself, I just got my first beginners espresso machine (Gaggia Classic Evo pro) for my birthday and can’t decide on which grinder to get. I’d like one of mid range pricing (around €500, tops) and apart from the grind quality my main concerns are noise and the ability to grind lighter roasts. I would ideally like a grinder that can be used for multiple coarseness settings since we do a lot of v60, chemex and even the odd french press at home, but that’s not a deal breaker. I’m in Europe if that changes anything.
Any recommendations on what are the best option for this?
Thank you!

2024.05.20 07:33 hkelly1018 Thoughts on my 2.7 Silverado so far.

Long post ahead. Recently, I got an amazing deal on a 2022 1500 Custom crew cab standard bed with the 2.7. Seems like a lot (but not all) of the folks that post about 2.7 ownership in this sub like theirs. I'm not totally in love with mine. I have driven several GM trucks and SUVS with the 5.3 and a couple with the 6.2. I figured I'd come on here and list my pros and cons and see what people think. This is my opinion based on the GM V8s I've spent some time with compared to the turbo four that I now own.
Pros:
-She's a beaut. Summit white with dark essentials package looks amazing.
-Torquey low in the rpms. Has plenty of power off the line for stoplights and such.
-Merging/passing power is pretty good. I can zip onto the highway and pass slow traffic with ease.
-Tows well (enough). I regularly pull a lawn mower trailer that weighs 4-5k lbs and it pulls it pretty well, just takes more effort to get going from a stop
-Fuel economy (kinda). I'd say I drive 70% of my miles in town. Averaging around 17 mpg (seems like others get better, maybe I have a lead foot lol)
-Turbo whistle (if you're into that kinda thing)
Cons
-I find myself having to get into the throttle quite a bit more to get moving at a reasonable pace. Easing into the throttle doesn't seem to get you moving quite as well as it does with N/A power.
-Gets up and goes, but falls flat on its face after ~3500-4000 RPMS
-8 speed is not the best. It works, but can be clunky at times (mentioned below)
-Exhaust is pitiful. It's bad for me as the driver. Hearing the exhaust from the outside is straight up not enjoyable. Especially on cold starts.
-I've seen people get similar fuel economy with newer GM V8s, so the gas savings don't seem to be much better
-Cylinder deactivation? On a 4 cylinder? After all of the problems GM has had with this tech in the past? Why?
-It already has a check engine light at 10k miles (EVAP purge pump, pretty common I think?) It's still under warranty so not a big deal but still
-Transmission lunges pretty hard when I put it in gear if I don’t let the RPMs go all the way down at startup. I’m used to being able to start a vehicle, put my seatbelt on, tune the radio, and go without RPMs fully dropping. To add onto this, the truck high idles like it’s cold starting pretty much every time you start it after it’s been shut off for 15 minutes or more, even if fluid temps barely drop
-Also lunges/is clunky when going from drive to reverse, like when parallel parking/backing into a spot
Overall, I LOVE the truck besides the engine. Looks great IMO and is great for what I do. I think I'll probably keep it for a few years and then buy one with a V8. I think I prefer the simplicity (and exhaust noise haha) that the V8 offers. I'd be happy to hear anyone else's opinions. Anybody else feel this way about the 2.7?
Edit: forgot a few things
