What are Charts and Time Frames?

Charts and time frames are the foundation of technical analysis. A chart is a graphical representation of a security's price action over a specific period. Time frames, on the other hand, refer to the duration of the data displayed on the chart. In other words, time frames determine how much data is displayed on the chart and how often the data is updated.

Types of Charts

There are several types of charts, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. The most common types of charts are:
1. Line Chart: A line chart connects the closing prices of a security over a specific period, creating a continuous line. This chart is useful for identifying trends and patterns.
2. Candlestick Chart: A candlestick chart displays the high, low, open, and close prices of a security over a specific period. Each candle represents a specific time period, and the color of the candle indicates whether the price closed higher or lower than the previous day's close.
3. Bar Chart: A bar chart is similar to a candlestick chart but does not display the open and close prices. Instead, it shows the high and low prices, as well as the open and close prices.
4. Renko Chart: A Renko chart is a type of chart that uses a unique algorithm to create a chart that is not based on time. Instead, it uses price movements to create a chart that is more focused on the price action.

Time Frames

Time frames determine the duration of the data displayed on the chart. Common time frames include:
1. 1-minute: A 1-minute chart displays the price action over a 1-minute period.
2. 5-minute: A 5-minute chart displays the price action over a 5-minute period.
3. 15-minute A 15-minute chart displays the price action over a 15-minute period.
4. 30-minute: A 30-minute chart displays the price action over a 30-minute period.
5. 1-hour: A 1-hour chart displays the price action over a 1-hour period.
6. 4-hour: A 4-hour chart displays the price action over a 4-hour period.
7. Daily: A daily chart displays the price action over a 1-day period.

2024.06.01 07:48 MADPIRATEDOG Sharing resources for creating assets for noobs

Hi! So, first of all, I'm from Italy, so sorry in advance for my bad english. And secondly, sorry for the reaaaally long post.
Anyway, I've finally found the courage to try to approach game developing, something I've been wanting to do for years. It will be in my spare time since I've gotta work, but hey I gotta try it now before it's too late for my small brain to learn something new. I don't have the money or time to enter a school, so I'll try to learn as much as possible on my own, following online courses ecc. For the kind of game I have in mind I think I'll go with game maker. I used rpg maker and other "light" softwares many many years ago, completely forgot how to use them, but they wouldn't be flexible enough for my project anyway. So, as far as the game developing software goes, either I learn how to use it or I don't and the project dies right at the start. Fortunately, the gameplay ideas ar not too complicated to realize, but the real obstacle on my path, about which I'm asking for help in this post, is the creation of assets. I'm learning to draw (actually re-learning, I could produce something not too horryfing to look at when I was much younger, then I stopped drawing and now I've got to start over) so that I can create my own assets, since everything will be in 2d and in a kind of hand-drawn style. But still, I'll be real, I know for a fact that I won't be able to make great art, it would be a miracle to make something passable. That's why I'm researching some tools to help me achieve a better look for my future assets and to compensate my lack of skill (and yes, patience too). I know you can buy pre-made assets, but I want to at least try to make my own if I can. We're living in a time where each day there's a massive technological leap that makes a lot easier to achieve things that once were extremely difficult to do, especially with AIs. I studied cinema, so I know some softwares in the video editing field, but I know very little in the game development one, so I'd like to know which softwares could help me in this task. Example: I need to draw the face of a character to show during a dialogue. Even if stylized, I have (and fear I'll always have) difficulties drawing a face from scratch, like actually imagining it in my head. With ai tools I can generate some faces based on facial features and decorations given by me in the prompt, pick some pieces here and there from different results, toy with them in photoshop (I'm pretty skilled with ph) and drawing over the final result, adding my own ideas to it. It would also be useful to find a software that, starting from a "plain" expression makes other expressions (you can somewhat do that in photoshop too). Obviously I'd redraw every change, but it would be a starting point. Other example: I found this software that offers a massive help in creating a sprite sheet starting from a single drawing. Yes, you still have do make some corrections, that I can do, while animating it from scratch it's a different story https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iUks4wuYkUU
I've been ranting for too much, let's wrap this up by describing briefly what kind of game I'm designing, so that you know what kind of tools could be useful. But generally speaking I'm open to any tool that you might find useful, you never know what I could need for future projects. Anyway, the best way to put it would be an extremely story-driven game like To the moon (with a hand-drawn style, not in pixel art), but with a lot of dialogue options and some "actual" (not in an offensive way, I love Too the moon lol) gameplay, not only puzzles. It would be visualized from a semi top-down view, so I'll need to think about everything from that perspective, other than cut-scenes and dialogues. As for the cut-scenes I think I'll just have to draw the single moments and cross-fade them; as for the dialogues there will always be a small portrait of the face of the character who's speaking.
I hope it's clear what I'm looking for. Aaaaand now let's see what you come up with :)
P.S. I know that AIs are a sticky subject and I couldn't summarize in this post what I think of them. Let's just say that I think that for a small, self-published project their use is justified as long as the raw asset produced by them is reworked so much by the artist to the point that he/she made it their own. Artists have always used collages and references to help create original artwork, so I see them as a starting point, especially for unskilled individuals like me, not as a final product, at least if you're profiting out of your project. If your project is completely free, eh, you could get a pass depending on the circumstances. If you're a big company and you're using AIs to avoid paying an actual artist, well you can go f yourself :) But this is not the point of my post

2024.06.01 05:01 MattLockhartIII Trying to get into an old account (NEED HELP)

Hey everyone, I'm not sure if this is the place to ask but I'm desperate at this point and any help would be appreciated. Basically I'm trying to get into an old account I made in 2007 (on a launch 'fat' model PS3), and I have VERY little info or resources to get back into the account.
I know what the email is that's associated with the account, and I have access to that email, BUT it's been so many years that I literally can't remember the user ID.
I don't know any transaction ID's from the user
HERE'S WHAT I HAVE:
I feel like I'm so damn close to getting into my account but I need help. Thanks

2024.06.01 04:24 koppe74 Recommendation for text2speech software suitable for reading fanfiction?

Especially for desktop-computePC - and in particularly under Linux. But programs for Windows - as well as apps for smart-phone (though I already got a couple I use) - are also of interest. Looking especially for a good and pleasant voice.
Would prefer something "offline" running on my computer. Converting files from HTML or PDF to plain text I can do manually. I'm a bit vary of online-services (like one python t2s program using Google-translate to generate speech), since I like many and long stories and some online-services got length limits.
I'd prefer to generate the speech on my computer, but the ones I've tried have not been particularly good (may have been the voices I chose though).
Anyway, does anybody have some experience with programs/apps/online-services - as well as specific voices - they found especially suitable for fanfic?

Good day everyone! I'd like to get your thoughts to help me choose between these laptops or any other suggestion you may have.
I'm currently using a 2016 Asus GL553VW, that originally came with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, and I upgraded to 16GB, 512GB M.2 SSD, and used the second spot for a 2.5 inch 1TB SSD. The laptop has an intel core I5-6300HQ (Quadcore single threats).

2024.06.01 01:32 Jealous_Author_4346 i feel weird about relationships..?

Hi,
so to start off, im a lover girl, or so i think? like im the type of a person to get really into any relationship, whether its platonic or not. the idea of giving others anything they need and caring for them is just extremely nice to me, idk.
i only had one boyfriend, and it was an online one, and as i said, i tried really hard to do my best in the relationship, but well, he didnt, so i broke up with him. because it was an online relationship i didnt feel too attached and his lack of effort to change made it easier to end things.
in any friendship too, im always trying to do my best, although especially lately its been quite hard (possibly because i just graduated and my friends have jobs, so its harder for all of us to meet up and talk in general.)
fast forward to now. while im usually a sucker for a relationship, i want to be in one and all, sometimes i get this... overwhelming feeling that i actually dont want anyone. that i want to be left alone by everyone, the thought of someone talking to me makes me feel a bit... disgusted, even? i dont know. it just feels wrong and uncomfortable.
it passes with time, but it still bugs me. i know i need therapy, and as soon as i get a job ill go, but i just thought that maybe someone here had an idea on why is it like this?
ill also add that sometimes i get like this because im in my summerhouse, to which im going to tomorrow (a lot of trauma from that place, so it makes me feel horrible) so it may be caused by that, as well as my mother cheated on my father (and her mother, on her husband too, so its kinda like a generational trauma maybe??) so maybe its trauma from this..? but im really not sure. id appreciate some help :>

2024.06.01 00:06 DustFlower8242 My parents [60M, 65F] put me [32F] in charge of a pet hotel, and I don't know how to run it. I ask for help and they aren't listening to me. How do I get them to listen?

Sorry, I don’t know if this goes here, but I need advice.
I'm a former basement dweller. Had a nervous breakdown after my husband of 10 years left me and I lost my home. Crawled back to mom and dad and shut down for a while.
Over the past couple years I took a lot of serious steps to improve myself and get back on my feet: losing 50lbs and getting fit, quitting nicotine and alcohol and weed, stopping with the constant video games and youtube and getting involved in the community, making real friends - I was active, healthy and happy again.
I was ready to get back to work. I was very motivated and excited. I tell my parents and they get an idea.
My parents (lifelong successful entrepreneurs) decided to start a business. Pet boarding. They said I could work there - specifically "you can take care of the pets, you don't have to be up front or anything." I was psyched and extremely grateful. I love animals and I thought I could do it.
Slowly over the few months it took to create the business it's dawning on me that they want me to *run* it. Be the owner and sole staff member. There was no actual conversation - they were both stressed out and just got irritated if I asked questions. It did turn out that I'd be responsible for all the marketing, customer relations, accounting, remodeling and developing the property, not to mention the practical skills necessary to care for all of the pets (the property they bought can hold 30).
None of which I actually know how to do. And there's no money for extra staff.
Okay, I thought. I can learn. I'm motivated and I thought I'd have mentors. I didn't know anyone in the business, so I ask if my parents know who can train me and they said they'd hook me up with some people. When that didn't pan out, I had to sit them down and tell them forthrightly that I *needed* extra help if I was going to do this. I needed at least one other person on board.
My mom is normally the unhelpful one, you never know if something you do or say will piss her off, but I always trusted my dad to be the reasonable one. But this time, for the first time, he just got pissed off too, told me it wasn't that hard of a business to manage which was really unlike him. Then, when I persisted, he said he'd help me more, and it really seemed like that would happen.
Then, about a month before opening, my parents up and leave the country suddenly (no particular reason, my mom just got angry about some stuff happening in the area and bailed) and they’re completely inaccessible. Texts go unanswered, calls drop.
So I have to finish remodeling, open the place (a literal fortune has been poured into it so I can't just back out), generate interest & name recognition in the community, figure out the booking software, get a website and online presence up and going, figure out the accounting side of things, figure out pet boarding protocols (I have never worked in a kennel or even pet-sat before, let alone cared for dozens of stressed out animals all at once).
All directly from not working even a basic job for 3 years. All without any help or guidance. I'm on my own with this.
I try my best. I buy books and read them. I find resources. I work from before sunrise til past midnight every day for months. I sit with the dogs that won't eat and hand-feed them. I make sure the cats are settled in and cozy. I try to handle the business side of things but I don't know what I'm doing and I keep making small mistakes that add up.
The business took off immediately, I'm booked solid, I never have a break. I started turning away every other customer because I'm overwhelmed but even so I've got to have several pets every day or the business isn't viable. It was too expensive for me to commute across town every day—and I hated leaving the pets—so I ended up moving into the kennel break room. I live here now. There's no kitchen and I use the dog shower. Work is 24-7. I never see anyone but customers, and I'm too exhausted and unhappy to even keep up a phonecall with a friend anyway.
It's one disaster after another. Plumbing issues; electrical problems; a large fire on the neighboring property; issues with the accounting software; harassment by homeless people (I'm not in the best part of town); unreliable internet; people calling, texting, and stopping by all hours of the day and night, even though my business hours are clearly posted.
When I did get sleep, I had nightmares about what could go wrong. Last week it was a flea outbreak. Then it was some unknown sickness and all the animals died. Every morning, without fail, I woke up and immediately had an anxiety attack. I started setting my alarm early just so I have time to do box-breathing to calm myself down in the mornings.
This past week I started having another mental breakdown. I can't sleep at all anymore, eating makes me nauseated, I'm crying all day, I'm irritable with my customers, I have no focus, I can't breathe. I feel a sense of impending doom every day. I think of my parents and get blinding rage. And I don’t want to feel that way towards them. Anyone else would be glad for this opportunity—who gets handed a business, and one that could do very well if it was being run by somebody competent?
The pets notice. Of course I put them first every day—I make sure they’re taken care of before I even think of myself. I do everything I can to make sure they’re comfortable, entertained, exercised and content. But putting on a happy face doesn’t always fool pets. They can sense I’m not okay and it makes them nervous.
I’m trying my hardest to take care of myself. I get plenty of exercise by exercising the dogs. When I can eat, I eat very clean, no sugar, caffeine, gluten, artificial sweeteners, no drugs or alcohol—I’m extremely careful with my diet. I’m doing everything I can about my sleep—keeping good sleep hygiene, reading something boring when I can’t fall asleep, but still I’m awake all night. I’ve dug up some DBT and CBT resources because I’ve heard they can help stabilize you, and I’ve been doing the exercises loyally.
Nevertheless, I've started self-harming (hitting myself with things, hitting my head on the wall) because it's the only thing that brings any relief when things get too intense and I can’t stand it. At least I'm calm enough afterwards to walk the dogs and not freak them out. But it's not sustainable.
I called my dad and finally got a hold of him. I was crying and told him I wasn’t doing well. He said, "Have you been dishonest about your mental health?" I said no, I was genuinely fine before, but things are too much here, and I can’t cope. He said, "So what, you want to just board the place up?" And I said no, I wanted to try, but I needed help. He said he’d help me—and he came back for a few days and put up a shade. Then he left again.
I tell myself there are people who work horrible jobs all day long and they make it. I tell myself I can be stronger, the job is not that hard. If I quit, and walk away from this business, I'll be in profound debt. I'll also have to accept that I'm an utter failure, a loser, and completely pathetic. Everyone will say I haven't improved at all since my last breakdown, I'm still the useless idiot I've always been. The humiliation would be devastating. This experience has already flushed my self-esteem down the drain. If I fail, I will never escape the shame.
(I'm Asian - won't be more specific - but our culture is a lot more serious about success, and a failure like this in my community really sticks to you.)
I was just starting to get back on my feet after everything I went through a few years ago. I don't know if I will ever recover from this.
My question is, how do I get my parents to listen? Or should I give up and shut down the business? Or if I shut down my business, what can I do about the fallout with them and the community?
**TL;DR: My parents created a business, then left me in charge without help or experience. I am having a mental breakdown and they won’t respond to me asking for help. If I fail I will be the shame of the community. What can do to navigate this situation?**

2024.05.31 22:35 Piano_Away 36 [M4RR] Texas - Open minded dorky guy seeks love and partner

I'm making this post in the hope of finding a partner to be my person for a LTR or if you are averse to something serious, we can talk about any other labels/avenues/ideas you have or are open to. We don't have to be alone lol. Let's enjoy all that 2024 has to offer while we decide! I'm down to grab an egg cream or milkshake in some quaint small out of the way town. Who doesn't want to enjoy some cool beverage while looking at old shops (sample some fudge in a general store and buy some old-fashioned whatchamacallit) with some light hand holding? Ooooh maybe a kiss? Maybe try a new waterslide or float a river if it's hot enough outside? I'm always down for some adventure. lol
To start I have to disclose that I mainly like women, but I also like a very, very, very specific type of guy and certain trans men as I'm partially bi. (It's off-putting I know but I'd rather be upfront about it) Chances are you aren't that type but feel free to ask if you are. (Didn’t want to offend anyone so I’d rather say in private) Just throwing that out there as it's a deal breaker for most women in general. Which why would it be? The number one reason I get is I'm going to cheat on them with a guy if we were to date. As if being bi has any bearing on cheating and not the person's character.
I'm a 36-year-old guy living in the middle-ish of Texas looking for a female partner. Partner as in LTR. That's Long-Term Relationship meaning boyfriend and girlfriend and holding hands type of stuff. You know, adult things? I had someone comment I was too vague, so this is me being specific. I'm gonna be honest and kinda sad so bear with me.
So, I've spent the past two New Years alone. Rang in this one just like last New Years in bed staring at the ceiling listening to fireworks go off into the night. The next day I cried randomly while browsing for a movie to watch on TV. At first, I didn't know why as I'm not much of a criefeeling's person, but I realized for the first time that I genuinely felt alone. I have no partner, no family that I speak to, no friends just acquaintances, really no one there for me. That's my own doing which took years to accomplish through me being closed off and just shutting people out, so I figure it might take just as long to fix. I'm not complaining as I got myself into this predicament. It's gonna sound dumb but I wanted a New Years kiss. I'd never had one and it seemed like a fun dumb silly thing to do. Eh maybe one day. Ok well back to my spiel. (I'm not depressed or anything or wanting attention) Some of my hobbies and interests are movies, reading, cooking, kayaking, records, video games, board games, snorkeling, bowling, swimming, escape rooms, puzzles and antiquing. I would describe myself as more goofy and dorky than nerdy. I like to go out and do fun things but also stay in and cuddle and relax. I guess it depends on my mood and the weather. I prefer the cold and would love to live in a state with actual seasons and snow. I'm 5'10, stocky AKA fat and open for adventure and new experiences.
I posted in this sub looking for a throuple/triad because I'm curious about being in one. I've never been in one nor have I ever been in a poly relationship. I've been 100% monogamous all my life. I'm merely curious about it. Apparently merely being curious about it disqualifies me from even talking to a fair number of women. So be it, I guess. This doesn't mean I'm solely looking for anything poly related. Just means I'm open to exploring it. I'm mainly looking for a partner. If she happens to be poly then that's ok. If she's not, then that's ok too. I keep getting people judging me for posting in the poly sub as if I'm only looking for that. I'm not. Just thought I'd clarify my experience and what I'm looking for in that regard. (For the record I'm 100% ok with being monogamous)
Here are some random facts about me:
Some of my favorite bands are: The Black Keys, Kings of Leon, The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival and The White Stripes.
Christmas is my favorite holiday, mainly because of the cold and festive activities. (Seriously let's go do some festive activities!)
I come from a medium-ish family.
I'm exceptionally patient but every person has a breaking point lol
I like traveling a lot. It's a basic thing that lots of people like. But I've found lots of people hate to leave their house, town or state so if that's you we probably might not be a good match. I also enjoy the mountains. But I don't like roughing it (give me that sweet AC in the summer). Hiking is so hard on my knees, and I haven't done it in a while that if I were to, I think about doing it I'd about die or twist a cankle.
I don't eat seafood, mushrooms, artichokes or pineapple on pizza (Who cares about this? Doesn't mean I won't go to a restaurant with you that has these things)
Never went to college as I'm horrible in a classroom setting and at taking tests. (I'm slowly bettering myself)
I used to have probably the most boring job imaginable (Ask me about it)
Overweight but trying to work on it and make better choices (Get healthier and lose weight together maybe?) Slowly getting there!
Non-religious but no issue with what you believe. (If anything)
Looking into sterilization. If you are already maybe you can give me some info or tips?
My own red flags 🚩
I work too much and oftentimes can't talk.
I send selfies often. I'm a visual person and like receiving photos. Apparently, it's a generational thing. Hopefully you think pictures are neat as well? Is it really that weird to want to see you and your life and show you mine?
I sometimes speedily become attached to people, not in a weird way, but if I like you and we have some kind of connection, I will enjoy talking to you and want to do it often.
I'm a very organized person and will plan out pretty much anything from a vacation to a road trip to a birthday. This makes being with a go with the flow type of person hard at times I've learned but still very much doable.
Due to childhood trauma I'm secretive which can be annoying.
MY own "HELL YES" 🏁
I know how to cook.
I will always drive if you want. (Within reason)
Great at escape rooms and jigsaw puzzles.
Can read a map and follow directions.
Decent at reading backwards upside-down writing.
What I'm looking for:
Is my age or older. But I'm willing to go quite a bit lower if you are neat and we have stuff in common. But super young isn't my goal here.
Mature, considerate, responsible and funny (Dorky wouldn't hurt)
Someone who never cheats, honesty and trust are important to me.
Someone who is open-minded, willing to try new things, be adventurous, funny and nerdy.
Someone who believes in sharing household chores equally because we are both adults.
Be open and frank about issues you or I are having. Not pushy or jealous. Won't yell or argue about stupid things, I've had enough of that.
Willing to push me to become a better version of myself (Can you turn me into Batman?)
If this sounds like you then feel free to reach out and say hi or challenge me to a game of Scrabble/Pictionary/hand to hand combat maybe? Maybe Wordle or some online vidya game?
P.S. I realize my post isn't for everyone but if you're seeing red flags from my post then I'd say trust your gut and please don't message me as we probably aren't compatible. I honestly don't mean that in a mean or hurtful way. I've just been messaged quite often with women saying they pushed aside red flags to get to know me. Please don't, it never ends well, and you end up wasting both of our time. Wouldn't you rather spend it finding your person with no flags?

PSP 1004 can't connect to PSN although my PS Vita (Adrenaline on 6.61) can

So today i tried to play some LBP PSP online on my OG PSP1004 with CFW (LME-2.3) but it seems that it cannot connect to PSN servers .

What I've tried :

  • Restore defaults on my 1004
  • Set primary DNS to both 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 with secondary set to 0.0.0.0 or 1.1.1.1
  • Tried to untick "Save password" on remote connect (as error 80431075 is bad password on remote play(?))
  • I even generated new "single use" password from PSN website on my PC, and used it in Remote Play (and this worked as it tried to connect to my PS3 Slim connected to the same PSN account)
(Don't mind the Vita, I had my DNS configured incorrectly)

PSP 1004 can't connect to PSN although my PS Vita (Adrenaline on 6.61) can
(Don't mind the Vita, I had my DNS configured incorrectly) So today i tried to play some LBP PSP online on my OG PSP1004 with CFW (LME-2.3) but it seems that it cannot connect to PSN servers .

2024.05.31 18:38 heartlessgamer Why I have faith in New World

I get a lot of "feedback" here on this subreddit for being a proud supporter of New World. I don't think the game is perfect, but it doesn't take me long playing around with other games to remind me why I have faith in New World.
I recently played the Pax Dei wilderness alpha. I was not impressed and the game has a ways to go. What was most shocking was how rudimentary the combat was. Having insight to even the earliest of New World's testing periods the combat in New World was never anywhere near as basic (i.e. bad) as Pax Dei's offering so far. Point goes to New World.
Even more recently I've played Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) again for the first time in a while and it didn't take me long to remember how floaty (and clunky) the combat is in that game. Ironically ten or so years ago when ESO first launched I was not sold that an MMO could provide action combat and ESO was my poster child as to why.
I can say all these years later that I was wrong about action combat in MMOs. Action combat is New World's best selling point and while its got some growing pains right now with it's recent changes to the underlying scripting it is literal leaps and bounds better than ESO combat. The ESO combat isn't so bad I don't want to keep playing but every fight I wish I was playing New World.
What I do see as an advantage that ESO (or Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft, etc) have on New World is content. ESO has a lot of content and comes out with new content chunks at a good pace. New World has not been able to generate content at a pace that meets player expectations and some of the content, such as seasonal events, has been lackluster. However, the games I mention didn't magically get content overnight. New World can get there with more content; they just need to figure out how to speed up the delivery.
So whether its stepping back into old games like ESO or playing new shiny games like Pax Dei; I can see clear advantages for New World against its peers. This gives me faith that there is a future for New World that is obfuscated by folks that can't look past the steam charts for concurrent players. New World just needs to clean up the recent combat bugs introduced by the combat code rewrite (slayer script) and get cracking on new content. /vader Frankly; I find the general lack of faith in New World to be disturbing. /end vader
I'd also throw in the above mentioned games have implemented "mega server" tech which is sorely needed in New World.

2024.05.31 17:28 WJC198119 Show unique values between two tables

I have 3000 lines of data which has 5 columns so column 1, 2, 3 ,4 and 5 on another sheet (or can be copied next to it) I have the same table only some of the data in this table is different. What I want to do is show the differences from the first table against the second table.
I have tried using unique but thst generates to lines of data one for the old data then populates under it data if there's a difference, this is no good for me as I don't have a line between all my data and I've tried all the stuff online with sort and it doesn't generate a separate line but regardless of that it also doesn't work when I'm trying to drag the formula down and I'm not going through 3000 lines of text changing the formula.
Any ideas of how I can do this?
For example is maybe that it looks like this this
Old table
Columns A B C D E 2 2 3 3 3
New Table Columns A B C D E 2 2 3 3 4
So in thus example I'd like it to tell me colume E has changed, to 4, unfortunately it's not good enough for this to just show it's changed I need to see what it's changed to.

2024.05.31 15:37 JcFuerza Top 10 Mobile MMORPGs of 2024! (my research and predictions) Android

tl;dr 0 - (disclaimer) Mobile Gaming has seen a bit of a decline this year, but it is still the biggest gaming platform in the world. I messed up last year with my predictions, So this year I am taking a different POV at the games being released and how I rank them in my videos.
tl;dr 1 - MMOs are the most commonly searched game type and mobile gaming is the biggest gaming platform in the world. 2024 has some really exciting games coming out, so here are my top 10 picks for MMORPGs: Hero of Aethric, Heartwood Online, Skylore Online, Moco, Path of Exile, Tarisland, Warframe Mobile, Darza’s Dominion, Ashfall, and Undawn (I give my reasons for choosing each one, so if one of these confuses you, make sure to read the post before raging 😂)
tl;dr 2 - I made all of this with game footage into a short HQ video here: https://youtu.be/ZCRMWv6P4VQ
But for those of you who prefer to read, here is the Video Script:
MMOs are the most commonly searched game type and mobile gaming is the biggest gaming platform in the world. 2024 has some really exciting games coming out. Some of which few people know about. So in this video, I am going to tell you the top 10 mobile MMOs of 2024.
Back when I was a kid, MMOs didn’t exist. It’s true. I’m really old. In fact, for those of you who don’t know, I’m from the 1900s and I am as old as the internet itself. So when MMOs first came out, it just rocked our world. Believe it or not, everyone was nice to each other. We were just shocked we were talking to a real person. MMOs are a little different now. Little more toxic, a lot more pay to win, so we thought we would help you guys out with a list of the 10 best ones for this year. The first game on our list is Hero of Aethric, a retro-inspired game. As you delve into the fantasy world of Aethric, you'll embark on an ever-evolving adventure filled with exploration, combat, and loot. In this classic MMORPG, you'll assume the role of a customizable bit hero, engaging in turn-based battles and collecting valuable treasures along the way. Establish your origin town as a home base and set out on an epic quest across the hand-crafted 8-bit world of Aethric. Whether you choose to adventure solo or with friends, the game offers a wealth of multiplayer options, from battling in the arena to delving into dungeons with your party. With over 100 unique classes, gear, and specializations, you'll have the freedom to tailor your RPG adventure to suit your preferred play style.

The second game on our list is Heartwood Online, a 2D MMO RPG action game. Within Heartwood Online, players can explore a vast and richly detailed world teeming with adventure and exploration. Players can collaborate with others to confront formidable raid bosses, uncover hidden treasures, and unlock new abilities and powers. The game offers a diverse range of activities, including crafting, PvP and PvE battles, guild interactions, and participation in a thriving player-driven economy. One of the key features of Heartwood Online is its expansive selection of mounts, allowing players to traverse the world with speed and style. Crafting and gathering play a significant role in Heartwood Online, with a variety of skills available to master, including mining, blacksmithing, woodcutting, carpentry, tailoring, and leatherworking. Players can customize their equipment to suit their preferred build path, whether they specialize in melee, magic, or ranged combat. Players can also participate in PvP events, competing against others for rewards and bounties.

The Third game on our list is Skylore Online, a classic fantasy MMO characterized by flexible character development, captivating storylines, and immersive open-world exploration. Players can engage in real-time PvP and PvE battles, tackle challenging quests and interact with fellow adventurers from across the globe. With the freedom to create their own hero, players can experiment with different races, classes, talents, abilities, and equipment to forge a character uniquely suited to their playstyle. In Skylore, multiplayer combat takes center stage, offering various modes for players to showcase their skills and teamwork. From dungeon raids against formidable monsters to fast-paced PvE challenges, there's no shortage of thrilling encounters to be had.
Skylore-fantasy MMORPG - Apps on Google Play
The fourth game on our list is Moco, an upcoming game by Supercell, the studio's monster hunting entry into the popular genre. The main task is to hunt for unique creatures in the wild but the challenge lies in facing these creatures head-on, serving as the ultimate test of strength and skill. One distinctive feature that sets Mo.co apart is its embrace of open-world hunting. Players are granted the freedom to roam expansive landscapes, providing an immersive experience as they search for creatures to engage in battle. Adding an extra layer of excitement to the gameplay, Mo.co introduces dungeon raids. These daring missions plunge players into perilous environments, demanding strategic thinking and combat prowess. Navigating through these challenging dungeons becomes a thrilling aspect of the game, promising valuable rewards for those who dare to face the dangers within.
mo.co - Supercell's New Monster Hunting Game!
The fifth game on our list is Path of Exile, an upcoming port of Grinding Gear Games' highly popular action RPG that draws substantial inspiration from the acclaimed Diablo series. For those unfamiliar with the PC gaming world, this game stole most of the Diablo YouTubers over to their game because most of them liked it more. So it will be interesting to see how this game affects the player base of Diablo Immortal which has been still going somewhat strong. This mobile adaptation ensures that players can delve into an expansive and immersive adventure set in a dark fantasy world, offering a diverse selection of classes for players to choose from.In the true spirit of the genre, Path of Exile Mobile incorporates random generation for its dungeons and outdoor environments, contributing to increased replayability. While the main hub areas remain persistent, the surrounding areas present dynamic challenges, as players combat waves of enemies to gain valuable experience and acquire new loot, enhancing the power of their characters. Beyond that, each class has access to a massive skill tree with over 1000 passive skills to unlock. While each class begins at different points on this skill tree, they ultimately gain access to the same set of skills, offering diverse paths for character development. Grinding Gear Games has said that Path of Exile Mobile will provide the complete Path of Exile experience, so it appears that they are looking to bring the full game over to mobile when it launches.
Path of Exile
The sixth game on our list is Tarisland, an upcoming game being developed by Tencent, offering players a rich and expansive gaming experience.Set in a massive world teeming with diverse biomes and an engaging storyline, Tarisland grants players the freedom to choose from a variety of races, each endowed with unique skills and abilities. Originally intended as a successor to World of Warcraft in China, the game is now looking at a global release. The game places a strong emphasis on customization, empowering you to fully personalize your character by selecting from a wide range of customizable classes. Players can choose from nine classes and eighteen specializations, allowing for a wide range of character builds. Raiding with groups to defeat formidable bosses is a core aspect of Tarisland's gameplay, harkening back to the classic raid and dungeon experiences of MMORPGs. Exploration is a key feature of Tarisland, with players embarking on unique adventures as they traverse the vast game world.
Tarisland - Apps on Google Play
The seventh game on our list is Warframe Mobile, the port of the popular sci-fi MMO third-person shooter. At the core of Warframe Mobile is a dynamic gameplay loop where players embark on missions, level up, and amass an arsenal of new weapons and gear. The thrill of completing objectives and overcoming challenges is complemented by cooperative missions, where players unite to strategize and confront enemies as a cohesive team. A standout feature is the game's robust crafting system, empowering players to craft new weapons and equipment using resources gathered during missions. This adds a strategic layer, encouraging resourceful exploration and customization of loadouts to tackle diverse missions and challenges. Warframe Mobile is poised to deliver the same fast-paced, action-packed gameplay that has enamored fans of the original, all while introducing mobile-specific features for an optimized gaming experience.
warframe.com/android
The eighth game on our list is Darza’s Dominion. The game features fast-paced gameplay in a 2D orthographic roguelike format, where permadeath mechanics heighten the stakes in a bullet hell environment. The fast-paced gameplay challenges players to react swiftly to a barrage of projectiles filling the screen, with the difficulty scaling up for an increasingly intense experience. Players can explore the unique abilities of seven character classes by acquiring special gear that levels the playing field and enables them to confront the Dominion's diverse challenges. Teamwork is pivotal in the quest to reclaim the Dominion, and players can enlist the help of friends and allies to tackle the game's toughest challenges. Whether grouping up in the Tavern, forming guilds, or encountering fellow adventurers within the Dominion itself, cooperative play enhances the gameplay experience and provides opportunities for overcoming formidable obstacles.
Darza's Dominion - Apps on Google Play
The ninth game on our list is Ashfall, Netease’s new post apocalyptic shooter and in typical Netease fashion, instead of just making a Fallout mobile thus incurring the wrath of Fallout fans, they are essentially making their own semi unique mobile version of the game. The graphics and gameplay looks awesome, and the game looks more and more like a AAA title, to the point they have even hired the same music producer Inon Zur as that of Fallout, but more impressively, they also hired Hans Zimmer who is one of the most famous music directors in the entire music industry. Also, there aren’t a lot of good post apocalyptic games for the phone right now meaning that this game will have its own niche in the gaming market. Fallout is a huge franchise largely because it was the best of the post apocalyptic genre so if Netease spares no expense at doing this with Ashfall, I have no doubt it will do amazing this year.
Ashfall-A New Adventure In An Eastern Wasteland (ashfall-game.com)
The tenth game on our list is Undawn, where players take on the role of survivors and must work together to build their base, scavenge for resources, and defend against hordes of zombies and other players. One of the unique features of Undawn is its open-world gameplay. Players are free to explore the vast world, which is filled with dangers and hidden treasures. Undawn also offers a robust crafting system, allowing players to create their own weapons and tools to help them survive. The game also includes a skill system, where players can develop their characters' abilities to better suit their play style. In addition to the single-player experience, Undawn also offers a multiplayer mode where players can team up with friends to take on more difficult challenges. The game also features PvP combat, where players can battle it out for resources and territory.
Undawn - Apps on Google Play
Well, that’s it guys. Hope that helps. If a game is not on here that you think should be on here, it is probably because I put it in a different genre like perhaps Adventure games or RPGs. In reality, MMOs can bleed into so many other categories so I might have put them in another video. Most of those videos are already out and you can see them in this playlist. Alright guys, I will see you next time!

2024.05.31 15:11 MysteriousLaura Body/Sex Positive Parenting vs. Teen Daughter's Request for a Bikini - What would you do?

Edit - Totally did not expect this to blow up like it did and the consensus is overwhelming in favor of "let her get it". So, I just ordered it, and I'm going to have a conversation with her later about why I had some of the hang-ups I did. Thanks everyone!
So a little bit of backstory - We had a pool installed after the "season" last year (big discount) and, this past weekend, my husband got it ready to go for the first time. My daughter (13) ended up having to swim in a sports bra up top because she's developed out of any swimwear she had from before. In addition to wanting to use our pool, she is going with her best friend's family to a beach house down the shore in a couple of weeks, so we need to get her some new swimwear. I told her find something she likes online that's reasonably priced and we'd get it for her. A little while later, she comes back and shows me a full-on bikini that she wants.
I froze. I had lots of body image issues in my own youth and from basically as soon as I knew I was having a girl, I wanted to make to do everything I could to make sure she was very positive and comfortable with her body. So far in her life, so good. She picks out almost all of her clothes, wears what she wants within reason (I would say no, for example, if she tried to wear something really casual for a wedding), and (like a lot of her generation it seems) doesn't have nearly as many body/clothing hang-ups as past generations. But seeing the picture of a grown woman in a bikini and imagining my daughter in it was like a gut punch. (And it's not even that revealing as far as bikinis go, just a huge step for her.)
I managed to buy some time saying I needed to talk to her dad first...but I'm stuck. If it were just for our own pool, around our own family, I'd say yes. But she'll be wearing it on the beach hours away with another family... Plus, even at our house, my son (14) has already asked if he can have friends over to use the pool and you know teen boys...
I think I may have done a little too good of job getting my husband to buy into this philosophy, because he said to just let her get it. "It's what she wants" he said, talking about how we decided we'd let her have a lot of freedom with this stuff.
For those who've been in a similar situation (as either the parent or the daughter), what would you do?

2024.05.31 11:09 antftwx Looking for advice on $200-250 used GPU and possible platform upgrade?

This is the build I've had since 2021 (cobbled together from what I had left over after giving most of my good parts to my mom and brother) and I'm finally ready to complete/upgrade it. I've already got a cooler, ram, and case picked out. My main concern is getting a GPU capable of 1440p/60 on mostly older titles like Pillars of Eternity, the Dragon Age series, and Elder Scrolls Online, with Baldur's Gate 3 being the only newer game I'm interested in (I play other genres on PS5 and I'm not interested in streaming atm.) My plan is to get either a used 2070 or 1080 Ti. Or even just a 6600 XT if that's good enough for BG3 at medium/high settings, really whichever's cheaper. I'm looking for suggestions/recommendations on that, but also I originally was going to upgrade my motherboard down the line, but now that ship has clearly sailed. So my other question is, how does this CPU fair in games like BG3? I know it'll be good for the older stuff, but if I can I'd like to hold off buying a whole new platform, mostly because I can't really afford it. I'm trying to spend around $400 total for the parts I'm looking at, if that's at all possible.

2024.05.31 09:36 MadnessConsumesMe [REQUEST][SWITCH][US] Paper Mario: Year Of The Thousand Year Door - $63.98 [Attempt 1]

Growing up, I found myself loving video games as a whole. While I always wanted to play the trendy games with my friends once the Ps3 & 360 era came around, before that, I was just fine playing my comfort games.
Now, I had a few comfort games that I came back to more than once, and I still come back to them today because they've either been remastered, or they have been put on PC, Game Pass, Playstation Plus, or Nintendo Online. Ratchet and Clank, Jak & Daxter, Tony Hawk's Underground 2, Sonic Adventure Battle 2, Pokémon Emerald, Final Fantasy VII, Kingdom Hearts, the list goes on and on.
Though the list of my childhood comfort games is a long one, one game stood above the rest as one that I replayed over, and over, and over, and over, and never got sick of it once. And that is Paper Mario: Year Of The Thousand Year Door. I held this game not only in high regard, but I held it close to my heart.
My father passed away when I was 9. Before he passed, I enjoyed playing video games with him. He loved Nintendo. We had an N64, and his most favorite game on the N64 was Paper Mario. Before he passed, the Game Cube came out. He wanted one, but in his poor health, he could never afford it because of medical bills.
The year my father died, my older brother had bought a Game Cube and a brand new copy of Paper Mario: Year Of The Thousand Year Door that he was going to give to our father for his birthday. Unfortunately he passed before he could have his birthday. Instead of taking them back for his money, my brother saved them for my birthday instead, which wasn't long after my father's. Just 15 days after my father's birthday. 37 days after my father's passing.
Understandably, I was too depressed to care about my birthday that year. As was my mother. There was no cake. No party. No presents. No family get-together of any kind. But despite that, my brother dropped by. He picked me up and took me out to for some Chinese buffet. Mine and my father's favorite. I appreciated the gesture. And I tried my best to pretend to be okay, as I didn't want to seem unappreciative. My brother, however, saw through the guise. After we left the buffet, he took me to his house, and after we went inside, he went to his bedroom, which I assumed was so he could go to the bathroom or something. And I saw that as the opportunity to release all those tears I was trying to hide.
My brother came back moments later, three gifts in tow, wrapped horribly as most men do. Makes me laugh thinking back to it. And he set them down on the coffee table and sat beside me, giving me a comforting hug, letting me cry. I cried for what felt like forever. Once the tears stopped and I had calmed down, he crouched on the floor so that he was eye to eye level with me. And I remember his words vividly:
"I know that everyone told you that you have to be tough for mom, now that dad's gone. They were wrong to tell you that. You're just a little boy, OP. You have the rest of your childhood in front of you before you have to suck it up and be a man. That's 8 more years to be a kid. It's okay to cry. It's okay to be upset. To feel all the feelings you are right now. It's okay to not be okay. Dad may not be with us anymore, but I am here. And I will do my best to step up in his place. I will never be dad. But I can still help you like he helped me growing up. Like he would have helped you." He paused for a moment, letting his words sink in. "These were meant for dad," he reached over to the table and grabbed the two gifts, holding them in front of him, looking down at them, grief in his voice, "but dad would have wanted to share these with you, as he did everything. So instead, I'm giving these to you." He placed them in my lap, looking up at me with a soft smile, obviously hiding the pain he felt, being strong for my sake.
I stared at them for a while, unsure if I should open them. I eventually decided to. And it was a brand new purple Game Cube, and Paper Mario, Year Of The Thousand Year Door, as well as a spare, Electronics And Botique brand wireless controller. Looking back, it was probably because he knew dad played games with me and wanted there to be enough controllers.
I held onto that 'Cube and that game for years after. And I kept returning to them. I felt close to my father when I played that game. I often times imagined him being there watching me play. One day, however, I saw it fit to pass on the torch to the younger generation. A co-worker of mine when I was 22, her husband had passed, leaving her and her 9 year old behind. Her kid liked games, as did his father. And I saw the situation was similar to my own. So with her permission, I gifted the Game Cube and that game to her son.
It saddened me to let them go. But the boy needed them more than I did. And I hope they brought him the same comfort they brought me. I held onto the hope that they would remaster Thousand Year Door on the Switch one day. And sure enough, my hopes became reality.
Unfortunately, I can't afford to buy the game for myself. So I'm hoping that maybe I can recieved it as a late birthday present, 19 years later.
Thank you to whoever gifts it to me. I will be forever greatful. And I will pay it forward.
