2024.06.01 15:43 Tyranosaurus_Wreck Is my calorie deficit to big?

I (34 male) weighed 110kg about 6 weeks ago, and changed my diet and started moving more and now I'm 106kg/106.4kg.
I used an online calculator that based on my height of 5'10" and my general lifestyle that my maintenance for 110kg was 2800 cal.
I put myself in a deficit of 1000 cal and allowed myself 1800 cal per day and a target of 200g of protein.
Ultimately, it's working so far and I'm loving my diet and the way I feel - I'm giving off a positive energy and things seem to be going really well all of a sudden.
However, I'm a bit concerned that I'm going to plateau soon and make it difficult to lose further fat if my maintenance becomes 1800 cal.
  1. Should I have started with not such a big deficit.
and
  1. Is it too late now to actually increase my daily calories to, let's say, 2000cal with the same activity? or will I just start to gain weight again.

I'd preferably like red wine, white wine, rose and beer (lager and ale)
I have 70 guests.
How many bottles of red, wine, rose and beer should I get?
About 60% are wine drinkers and 40% are beer drinkers.
Pls help!!! The calculators online are all showing me different numbers. I'm not an alcohol drinker...

2024.06.01 15:17 Jussiemariee Thoughts and questions on the Maya

I was thinking of doing a Maya because it's free and because there's nothing about it that I don't like. (Except for the fact that the instructions and tutorials are a bit lacking, but I understand that I can find very well done tutorials for that bra online)
My concern is that I put my numbers in their calculator (32" under and 4" from base to Apex) and they gave me a 36 e. The cup size makes sense, that doesn't concern me whatsoever, but it looks like they're using +4 sizing. In frequenting ABTF, I have gotten away from +4 sizing and am happily wearing a 32 DD.
Has anyone ever made the Maya and if so how is the sizing?

2024.06.01 15:16 Brilliant_Leek1938 apply mdphd or take perfect phd spot?

Hello! Honestly I’ve always wanted to do both md and phd eventually, but I struggled throughout undergrad and I think it might hinder my ability to get into a good dual program.
My gpa is 3.78 and sgpa 3.71, downward trend as grades peaked in my second year and dropped in the third. I tried to graduate in 3 years but had to withdraw from one class in the last semester spring 2023 due to health issues. I was supposed to take it online fall 2023 to graduate but then my mom’s cancer progressed and she passed away. So I’m just now finishing the class over a year from initially withdrawing, and it will have incomplete notation due to having to get an extension after my mom passed. No mcat yet.
My interest is oncology, specifically the one understudied cancer subtype that my mom passed from, as well as a specific type of immunotherapy. To date these two fields have never been combined in the way I really hope to be able to do in my future career.
My ECs will include 3000+ hours research (working toward 1st author publication but unlikely by application time, will probably have first author review), on an independently conceptualized project in translational cancer immunotherapy. Also have 200 hours shadowing and 50 hours hospital volunteering.
Basically my PI has offered to let me stay in my current lab for a PhD. I’ve been in this lab for two years and it is amazing, in my home city, at my top choice T20 school, and I would have a chance to combine my two niche research interests for which other labs/opportunities are very scarce. I’m leaning toward doing this and then maybe looking into accelerated 3 year Md programs later on since I’m fairly set on intended specialty. The average gpa for the combined program at this school and for most others with a potential research fit is above 3.9. I just don’t think there’s a chance I could get in.
Is there a reason to not do this? I know the main one is losing free tuition but what else? Thank you!

2024.06.01 14:50 Direct_Article4538 VSV subjects seem easier than my campus ones. Bad sign?!

Does anyone know how VSV students are scaled or how they alter the curriculum? Are their SACs and study scores scaled down? Has anyone here gotten a 95+ ATAR with fully or mostly online units? Currently stressing out for my entire future! 🤗
I have been doing 2 of my 5 1/2 units via VSV and I'm getting a bit worried! Both are subjects that my school isn't running this year due to numbers. However, I developed a health condition mid last year that's doing anything but improving, + i'm extra busy/stressed from commitments outside of school (working and caregiving responsibilities.) Right now it's looking pretty likely that, due to all these factors, I'll have to go fully online for 3/4. When I enrolled I was assured by my school and VSV that as long as I keep my focus I'll get the same standard + amount of work as I would currently. I was a bit worried because of how secretive they are with their study scores ect but I didn't have much choice.
However... Both subjects are clearly easier than the standard that friends from other 'in person' schools receive. I'm always getting 97-100% on SACs for both subjects, even though I don't go to their glorified powerpoint reading online classes and typically complete all my weekly work for the subjects in a few hours. The marking + feedback for weekly work is useless too. You don't get a grade, only a 'satisfactory' or not, and you can resubmit if you don't pass. My feedback is always "This is far above VCE level, well done! Keep it up!"... It's really not. What I'm submitting is the level that I would do on campus if I want mid 80's. Oh and just to clarify, I'm obviously not some child genius so hopefully this doesn't sound as absolutely pretentious as it does to me. Sorry everyone. I'm always good with Lit, but I usually need to put some elbow grease into the other ones if I want to achieve high marks. At my private, but by no means academic school, I've always done well (ok apart from GM; lets just say my emotional support calculator and I have clawed our way to 'firmly unremarkable' status) but I have to study hard and push myself to stay up there in marks. Essentially I'm just not used to getting full marks on a silver platter for a SAC that I submitted at 4am, after 1 hour of sleep-deprived and unmotivated work. I submitted that fully prepared for my average grade to drop pretty dramatically. Very much a 'fuck it, fuck this' submission. When I saw my mark I was honestly offended(?). That mark at my current school would've been the result of a week in self isolation and a rapidly approaching vitamin D deficiency. I really don't deserve it at all! I almost want them to take it back!!! It doesn't mean anything like this.
I always have to email them to ask for useful feedback (I BEG them to tell me areas I can improve on.) Even then I get the same response, or a very surface level message that doesn't seem to have much thought put into it. All very generalised stuff. The SACs aren't even well regulated. My submission didn't load properly once so I ended up submitting two days late; they didn't even mention it!? Once I was told I didn't have to worry about proper referencing for an essay. I have started going through the standard text books (VSV told me I wouldn't need one because the content is "all found in the weekly work" yea nah ) + doing all the work that a friend from another school gets. All because I'm terrified that they aren't teaching me the level they should be. I've even started trying to do double the effort that they ask for so I'm not stressing about getting behind without knowing it. It's getting tempting to submit crap without even editing it first, but I'm trying so hard not to fall into that rabbit hole... Yet.
Not to be dramatic but that chic, sultry 99.95 ATAR™ 😮‍💨🤩 has been tantalising me since my little brain could intellectualise it, so I'm really scared for my results if I have to go fully online next year. I don't have family pressure for results, but my self worth and academic results venn diagram is a circle. Before you ask, I'm not willing to move to a local-ish school with all my subjects because it will make things harder for my family. The one good thing about vsv subjects is that I have more time at home for those responsibilities + I can stop working so much because it's a public school. Sorry for this mini breakdown that nobody ever asked for or needed, but please please please, if anyone has ANY info on how it will effect my results or experience with getting a good ATAR at vsv, let me know. Or confirm my fears that my life is over.

2024.06.01 14:47 Apart_Yam3135 5700x3D not booting.

Hi there, I recently purchased a 5700x3D to install into my PC, however when I turn it on, it does not post or showcase a display capture (Tried a mixture of HDMI and Display capture to no success)
I am currently using:
I've looked online and those "wattage calculators" and they say I need around ~690 watts to power the system, am I being an idiot and my PSU is simply not powerful enough to boot the new components? Since it's an older model?
Or is there the potential that I've cracked / damaged the Ryzen 7 upon installation or that it is faulty?
Much appreciated readers and any whom answer.

2024.06.01 14:47 Arceroth Chronicles of a Traveler 2-29

“So you’re a traveler from another world, with strange powers, here to help us out?” The commander of the unit summarized as the rest of the unit approached the still super train, preparing to salvage it.
“Yup,” I said nervously.
“Okay,” he replied after a moment.
“That’s it?” I asked, surprised.
“Good an explanation as any,” he shrugged, “considering you took down that war train and aren’t objecting to us taking it, I’m prepared to give you at your word.”
“What are you scavenging it for anyways?” I asked, turning to look at the massive vehicle, “you that hard up for metal?”
“There’s plenty besides metal,” the commander explained, “for one the parts in this thing are manufactured to far more precision than the human hand could manage. But even past that, these things carry vast stocks of coal and water, both of which can be hard to come across.”
“Not to mention oil for lubrication,” his second in command added.
“Finally there’s weapons and ammo, without access to factories of our own this is our best source of munitions.”
“Makes sense,” I nodded, “what’s the world like? Humanity still out there?”
“I don’t know about the world at large, but there’s a decent number of us hiding out within the machine’s territory,” sighed the commander, waving to a group of what appeared to be steam powered cars to pull up, each of them pulling a large cart for supplies, “to give you the short history of the war, a dozen years back the machine came online, with orders to expand. So it did, and hasn’t stopped yet. Everywhere it goes it turns into wastelands like this,” he motioned to the endless expanse of flat desert around us, “mountains, forests, lakes, doesn’t matter, it bulldozes it flat and builds factories or mines.”
“Why flatten everything?” I ask.
“Defense,” the Harmony answered, the commander nodding, “it relies on sonar for detection so fewer obstacles the better.”
“That was our guess too,” agreed the army man, “there are a few places it wasn’t able to pave, where we’ve been able to survive. In our case we live in a volcano, the damned thing tried to dig it out before the magma forced it to give up.”
“What about other nations? Surely not all of humanity has fallen.”
“On that front I admit to having less information,” he shrugged, “a few years ago we heard rumors that people outside managed to stall it, though I’m not sure how.”
“It seems to understand some natural phenomena can’t be overcome,” the Harmony commented, “perhaps they found a way to trigger that response along the entire front?”
“Good a theory as any?”
“I’m curious as to who would build such a thing,” I said, motioning to the mega-train, “I can’t think of much of a use for this kind of device.”
The commander looked around, nodding to his second in command who turned and left to coordinate the salvaging operation.
“Come with me,” he said, leading me away from the tracks. For several minutes we walked back towards where his men had dug in to assault the train. They were busy packing up the large guns that I recognized as being the main weapon of the train, only modified to rest on a foldable base and operate without clockwork. More steam-cars were being used to pull the guns once they were folded away, a half dozen tents of various sizes had been set up, the largest of which was white with a large red cross. It was also easily the busiest, with nurses and wounded constantly moving in and out at a frantic pace.
The commander led me into one of the side tents that appeared to be a makeshift command post, tables covered with maps filled the space, leaving little room to walk.
“Since you helped us out I’ll tell you what we know about the origins of the damned machine, but this is sensitive information, so don’t go sharing it around,” he warned me with a long glare before continuing, “the official story is the machine went rogue, some fault caused it to refuse to shut down. From then it’s simply kept expanding, seeing humanity as a danger.”
“That was our theory,” the Harmony replied.
“Unfortunately its not true,” he sighed, “the creator deliberately ensured his machines wouldn’t shut down. The flaw was intentional, exactly the same fault is found in every one of the base plans the machines use.”
“Why would he do that?” I asked.
“The man was brilliant, but in the end he seemed to go crazy. We don’t have much information about the last years or exactly what pushed him over the edge, but he seemed to think this was the only way to, as he put it, ‘defeat eternity.’ We think something drove him insane and he thought the universe itself was out to get him.”
“That’s,” the harmony started, but didn’t continue. We’d encountered multiple people who’d mentioned eternity by now, the most memorable was the man from the unchanging world. But the Conductor and a few others had brought it up by now.
“Ya, crazy,” the commander shrugged, seeming to take the Harmony’s comment another way.
“If true it’ll make fixing this thing much harder,” the Harmony said, “ordering a simple repair of damaged parts is one thing, but fixing a design flaw purposefully built into the blueprints of the entire mechanism?”
“Yup,” he sighed, “honestly our best bet is to just keep taking out trains where we can and hope to eventually out last them.”
“There might be another way,” the Harmony said slowly, “I noticed the machines only use a single frequence of sonar. Is that true across all their units?”
“Yes, near as I can remember,” the commander said after a moment.
“I should be able to design a few noise canceling patterns that work on that frequency it should allow you to approach their factories without being noticed.”
“Wait, you can make us invisible?” he asked, leaning forward.
“At least until the machine figures out the trick and varies up the sonar devices,” the Harmony warned, “but if you use it strategically it could net you large wins.”
“Will it work on moving objects?” I asked, “most passive noise cancelling only works on static objects, like in rooms.”
“It should, only because the machine uses a single frequency for its sonar,” the Harmony replied, sending me a series of calculations it wanted me to run through our datalink, “and it won’t be perfect, anyone using it will have to be exceptionally careful to not make too much noise or bump anything that could tip off the machine.”
“If its easier to hide immobile objects, then could you hide a derailing device?” the commander asked, starting to look excited, “if we could reliably derail the trains without them knowing why we might be able to starve out a section.”
“Stationary things are easier,” it agreed, looking over the results of the calculations I sent back. Its image projection crystal flickered on, displaying blueprints for a couple devices on the table, “I don’t know if a standard train derailer is enough to force a train of that size off the tracks, but you should be able to double the size of the one here without impacting its effectiveness.”
The commander’s eyes grew wide as the image appeared, rushing to the entrance of the tent and shouting for someone. In a minute a half dozen people were present, copying the diagrams along with a few variations the Harmony added.
“Hard to believe a few odd angles can disrupt sonar so easily,” one of the techs remarked, looking over one of the blueprints.
“It’s only possible because the Harmony is an entity basically made of sound,” I replied, “I doubt I could come up with something like this.”
“And I have to stress, this will only work until the machines change their sonar frequency,” the Harmony added, “as soon as they catch on these devices will become ineffective.”
“But could you design new patterns for whatever frequency they switch to?” the tech asked.
“No, if the machine is smart, and it seems smart enough, it’ll start using a few different frequencies. A single pattern can only cover a single frequency effectively.”
“Still, making a change like that across the machine’s hundreds of facilities and thousands of trains is a slow process,” the commander said, “even if it catches on, we could have years before all of it is altered to counter this.”
“Very true,” the Harmony agreed, its crystals even bobbing as if mimicking a nod, “it’s not a permanent fix, but it’ll help.”
“Speaking of, we encountered something odd,” one of the technicians spoke up, “seems like you understand the machine better than most, perhaps you can help us figure it out?”
“Sure,” I shrug, motioning for him to lead the way. Ten minutes later I’m in the mega-train once more, looking at a bank of gears arranged in a chaotic, but clearly intentional pattern.
“Right there, see those main gear trains?” the man asked, pointing at a cluster of mechanical bits that stood out against the rest, “that appears to be the main protocol mechanical computing, they’re what tell it what is or isn’t part of the protocols, if something violates them, and so on.”
“Right,” I nod, only to scowl, “one set of gears per protocol?”
“Yup,” he nodded.
“Then why are there four sets?”
“That’s what confused us,” he replied, “this place is directly above the engine room so we’ve never captured it intact before, so we’ve never noticed the extra-protocol set.”
“A back up?” the Harmony offered, “or error correction?”
“I don’t think so, it doesn’t match any of the other stacks, and error correction is over there,” he pointed to another set of gears, “you seemed to be well informed, maybe you could shine some light on this?”
“Seems pretty obvious to me,” I said, looking up to see both the tech and the Harmony staring at me, “what? Clearly there’s a fourth, hidden, protocol.”
“There’s only three protocols though,” the tech replied, “expand, defend, seek approval, we’ve known that for years.”
“Seems like the machine has a fourth,” I countered, pointing at the extra gear stack, “perhaps something secret the designer put in without anyone knowing?”
“Or the machine is evolving,” the Harmony replied softly, earning an alarmed look from me, “it seems quite rigid but, like you said, it’s been operating for years. If it can alter the design of its trains, then why not its own computation systems?”
“that’s… worrying,” the tech remarked, “honestly I hope its like the Traveler said, that it’s a hidden protocol.”
“Either case shouldn’t matter much,” I said, “there’s a limit to how fast mechanical systems can process data. It should hit a limit to how far it can evolve if that’s what’s happening.”
“I disagree,” the Harmony countered, “I’m living proof that multiple overlapping systems can produce intelligence far beyond what individual parts could come up with. Sound can only carry so much information at a time, but I can operate far beyond that limit due to my nature. It could stumble upon something similar for mechanical computers.”
“Seems unlikely,” I replied, and the Harmony didn’t disagree, but the thought was worrying regardless.

Understanding the importance of the heart in astrology

As we delve into the ancient art of astrology, it’s essential to first understand the significance of the heart in our cosmic journey. In the world of astrology, the heart is often symbolized by the planet Venus, which governs our emotions, love, and relationships. The heart is the seat of emotions, and its placement in our birth chart can reveal a great deal about our emotional nature, attachment style, and capacity for love.
The heart is often associated with the 4th house of the birth chart, which represents our inner world, emotions, and sense of security. This is where our emotional roots are planted, and the heart is the vessel that carries our deepest desires, fears, and longings. A well-placed heart in our birth chart can indicate a strong sense of emotional resilience, a capacity for love, and a deep connection to our inner selves.
In contrast, a troubled or afflicted heart can indicate emotional turmoil, attachment issues, and a struggle to find meaningful connections. When we understand the importance of the heart in astrology, we can begin to unravel the mysteries of our emotional landscape and uncover the secrets to solving our love problems. By exploring the placement of the heart in our birth chart, we can gain valuable insights into our emotional strengths and weaknesses, and develop a deeper understanding of what we need to cultivate healthy, loving relationships. Whether you’re seeking to overcome heartbreak, find a new partner, or simply deepen your understanding of yourself, this free astrology guide will be your trusted companion on the journey of self-discovery and love.

The role of the Moon in the heart and relationships

As the celestial body that rules our emotions, the Moon plays a crucial role in shaping our heart and relationships. Just as the tides ebb and flow in response to the Moon’s gravitational pull, our emotional tides rise and fall in response to its subtle influences on our inner world. The Moon’s position in our birth chart and its current transit can reveal the underlying emotional dynamics that drive our relationships and interactions with others.
In particular, the Moon’s element (whether it’s earth, air, fire, or water) can indicate the type of emotional expression we’re prone to, and the signs it aspects can reveal the people and energies that trigger our emotions. For example, a Moon in Cancer may be deeply emotional and sensitive, while a Moon in Scorpio may be intense and private. The Moon’s nodes, which mark the points where the Moon’s orbit crosses the Earth’s ecliptic, can also reveal the underlying patterns and themes that drive our relationships and soul connections.
Understanding the Moon’s role in your heart and relationships can be a powerful tool for healing and growth. By recognizing the Moon’s influence on your emotional landscape, you can better navigate the ups and downs of love and relationships, and cultivate deeper connections with others. In this guide, we’ll explore the Moon’s role in the heart and relationships, and provide practical tips and insights for using astrology to solve love problems and attract more fulfilling connections into your life.

2024.06.01 12:36 CorrectLaw9993 Alright Blizzard, this is what the player-base needs for Classic WoW.

Classic WoW. New Seasons, 4 phase intervals. Every 6-8 months.
Never raise the level cap above 60
Never make new continent/islands/territories.
Keep the features you have in Discovery with minor tweaks, take inspiration from ascension, every player wants to be unique.
Every season needs new content, and content from the last season needs to be tossed out. Every player wants that "you just had to be there" type of experience. Plus nobody wants to go through 100 different stories when leveling alts.
Every season there should be minor changes to every zone. Nothing crazy or destructive. A new quest-line and NPCs moved around a bit. I want to feel like the world is changing, but nothing insane like a damn dragon destroying the world.
Lore needs to be included. Nothing crazy or world changing. In fact don't involve world leaders, just small banters between horde and alliance in certain zone.
I know your goal is to keep players online long as possible, right? Rather than have them grind non-stop.. make something fun for them. A Puzzle, a mystery, that spans throughout the 4 phases and the player-base has to come together to solve, maybe. Or even additions to professions to where players have the choice to grind for it.
Add more fun additions to capital cities. A newsletter to keep us updated on the world, random unique NPCs showing up for events, add a server leaderboard for guilds to compete and get their names on there.
Bottom line, Blizzard. The players don't mind changes, we just don't wanna be "the champions of azeroth" over and over and forced to discover a new continent where we gotta grind 10 more levels, figure out 10 new features, and grind 100 hours straight for a new currency that's gonna let us buy gear. While knowing in the back of our heads that we'll have to do this all over again in the next expansion.
Keep it small, keep it fresh, keep it fun, keep it meaningful.

2024.06.01 12:01 Himekat Do you have a JR Pass or IC Card (Suica/Pasmo/etc.) question? Start here! (Monthly Thread - June 01, 2024)

Got a question about JR Passes or IC cards (Suica/Pasmo/ICOCA/etc)? Read through the information below and feel free to ask additional questions in this thread! Please see here%20question%3F%22&restrict_sr=1&sort=new) for old versions of this megathread.

JR Pass Info

The nationwide JR Pass is a travel pass that allows train and bus travel for a fixed cost over a certain period of days on Japan Railways (JR) services. For a comprehensive source of information on the pass, check out our wiki page or Japan Guide’s JR Pass page.
The JR Pass can be purchased in one of two ways: * Online at the official site * Online from an authorized retailer (also often called a "third-party seller")
There is no way to be certain if a JR Pass will be valuable for you without knowing your exact itinerary and doing the math out. If you are trying to work out whether a JR Pass is the right choice for you, here are some calculators: * JRPass.com’s calculator * Japan Guide’s calculator * Daisuki calculator
As of October 1, 2023, the nationwide JR Pass and regional JR Passes have increased in price significantly. The price increase makes it so that there are very few itineraries that the nationwide JR Pass will be worth it for. For more information and discussion on the price increase, see this search result of prior discussion threads.

IC Card Info (Suica, Pasmo, ICOCA, etc.)

General Information

An IC card is a stored-value card used to pay for transportation in Japan. That means you can load the card with money and use the card to pay for trains, buses, etc by tapping the card at train station gates or fare readers. Even if you have a JR Pass or other travel pass, an IC card is recommended because it can be used across transportation systems operated by many different transit companies, as well as for payment at convenience stores, restaurants, shops, vending machines, and other locations.
For tourism purposes, there are nine major IC cards and all of them are completely interchangeable and usable in each other's regions, so it doesn’t really matter which one you get. Where you start your travels in Japan often dictates what IC card you get, since different IC cards originate in different regions, but then you'll be able to use it during most of your traveling, even if you move to a different region. For general information on IC cards, see our wiki or Japan Guide’s IC card page.

Physical IC Cards

Currently, sales of regular Suica, named Suica, regular Pasmo, and named Pasmo cards are technically suspended due to a semiconductor shortage (except children's versions and commuter versions). That said, there have been recent reports in early 2024 of people getting regular Suica cards at some stations in Tokyo.
If you are landing in/starting your trip in Tokyo, tourists can still get:
A Welcome Suica or Pasmo Passport acts exactly like a regular IC card, with two exceptions: it is only valid for 28 days, and it cannot be refunded. Please see this thread and its top comment for information.
If you are starting your trip in another region (e.g., Kansai, Kyushu, etc.), sales of their regional IC cards are unaffected by Suica and Pasmo shortages. Please see this page to identify which card you'll get, and it should be available at airports and train stations in those regions.

Digital IC Cards

If you are looking to get a digital IC card, please note that digital Suica, Pasmo, and ICOCA cards can only be used on iPhones, Apple Watches, or Japanese Android phones (this means the phone was purchased in Japan). For instructions on how to get a digital IC card in Apple Wallet, see here. You do not need the Suica or Pasmo apps (which are all in Japanese) in order to get a digital IC card. It can be loaded and used entirely through Apple Wallet.
Please note that not all credit cards work to load a digital IC card. Amex cards seem to have the highest success rate, but Mastercards and Visas can be flaky. Although Visa previously didn't work at all, as of December 2023, loading a digital Suica with some Visa credits cards seems to work, although not all of them. See this At A Distance blog post for more info and updates. It is not uncommon to not have any of your cards work to load a digital IC card, and if that happens, you might need to stick with a physical IC card.
Keep in mind that digital IC cards cannot be refunded (that requires a Japanese bank account), so you will need to burn down whatever value you’ve loaded onto them before the end of your trip.

IC Card FAQ

I have an old IC card from a previous trip. Can I use it on my upcoming trip?
IC cards are valid for ten years after their last date of use, so if you received the card and/or used the card in/after 2014, it’ll work.
Can more than one person use the same IC card for travel?
No. All travelers who want to use IC cards on transit need to have their own card. Most transit in Japan is distance-based, and the card is “keeping track” of your journey, and it can only keep track of one at a time.
Are there children’s IC cards? How do I get one for my child?
Children under six years old can ride transit for free. If your child is between the ages of six and eleven, you can get a children’s IC card from JR offices by presenting the child’s passport for proof of age. There are also Welcome Suica and Pasmo Passport versions for children. If you are getting IC cards at the airport, they are able to provide children’s cards.
Can I load money onto a physical IC card with a credit card?
No. Physical IC cards can only be loaded with cash, which can be done at ticket machines in train stations, convenience stores, and 7-Eleven ATMs.
I have a physical IC card and I want to transfer it to my phone. If I do that, can I still use the physical card?
No. Once you “move” the physical card to your phone and turn it into a digital card, the physical card becomes invalid. It cannot be used or reactivated.
I’m landing in Tokyo, but then I’m going to Osaka and Kyoto. Do I need a suica in Tokyo and then an ICOCA in Osaka/Kyoto?
No. Once you have one of the major IC cards, it can be used pretty much anywhere. There are some exceptions to this, but they are mostly on individual lines or in specific rural regions. If you are traveling to major tourism cities such as Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, etc., you are likely fine with whatever IC card you originally received upon arrival.
Should I buy an IC card online before arriving in Japan?
If you want to get an IC card online from a reputable vendor, there’s nothing wrong with that. Some of the authorized JR Pass website (as well as other websites targeted at tourists) will sell them bundled with other purchases. That said, there isn’t really any reason to get your card ahead of time. If you’re landing in Tokyo, the 28-day Welcome Suica or Pasmo Passport is good enough for most tourists. And if you do end up in the country for longer than 28 days, you can simply get an IC card from another region once you’re in one (such as the ICOCA from Kansai).
Help! I tried to load my digital IC card through Apple Wallet and the transaction didn't go through! What do I do?
To start, did you attempt to create it/load it overnight in Japan? The digital system goes down for maintenance from about 1am to 5am JST, so try again during Japan's daytime hours. Beyond that, Visa cards often cannot be used to load digital IC cards. Mastercards sometimes have issues too, depending on the issuing bank. Unfortunately, if you can't find a digital card + credit card combo that works for you, you may not be able to use digital IC cards.

2024.06.01 10:03 No_Touch_936 Since relative minor/major shares the same chords..

I suppose there is a shortcut trick that would be handy in composition. Like if I want to write a I - IV - V progression but before going to IV I'd insert a V/vi which would be a deceptive cadence going to bVI/vi
It'll be notated as
I - V/vi - bVI/vi - V
Since F# exists in D major while also being the V of the relative Bm. I suppose that mentally its a quick shortcut to think of the III of major key as the V of its relative minor key.
Cos my usual routine is that I'd mentally map out the chords of Major and Relative in my head, count intervals and whatnot.
I figured I could just think of the III degree of the major scale as the V of its relative minor. Same goes for every chord in the key.

2024.06.01 10:03 holisticlife5500 Navigating the World of Sports Betting: A Comprehensive Guide to Information and Strategy

In recent years, sports betting has exploded in popularity, evolving from a niche activity into a mainstream form of entertainment. With the rise of online betting platforms and the legalization of sports gambling in many jurisdictions, enthusiasts and newcomers alike are delving into this dynamic world. However, success in sports betting requires more than just luck; it demands knowledge, strategy, and informed decision-making. Check out: 먹튀폴리스
Here, we'll explore essential information and strategies to help navigate the complexities of sports betting.
Understanding the Basics: Before diving into the world of sports betting, it's crucial to understand the basics. At its core, sports betting involves predicting the outcome of sporting events and placing wagers on those predictions. The most common types of bets include moneyline bets (predicting the winner), point spread bets (predicting the margin of victory), and oveunder bets (predicting the total score). Familiarizing yourself with these concepts is essential for making informed betting decisions.
Research and Analysis: Successful sports betting is rooted in research and analysis. Before placing a bet, it's essential to gather as much information as possible about the teams or athletes involved, their recent performance, injury reports, weather conditions, and any other relevant factors. Analyzing statistics, trends, and historical data can provide valuable insights into the likely outcome of a game or match.
Bankroll Management: One of the most critical aspects of sports betting is bankroll management. This involves setting a budget for betting, determining the size of individual wagers, and sticking to a disciplined approach to betting. A common rule of thumb is to never bet more than you can afford to lose and to avoid chasing losses by betting larger amounts to recoup previous losses. By managing your bankroll wisely, you can minimize the risk of significant financial losses.
Understanding Odds: Odds are a fundamental aspect of sports betting, indicating the likelihood of a particular outcome and determining the potential payout of a bet. Different formats of odds, such as American odds, decimal odds, and fractional odds, are used in various regions and betting platforms. Understanding how to interpret odds and calculate potential payouts is essential for making informed betting decisions. Visit here: 먹튀검증
Developing a Strategy: Every successful sports bettor has a strategy tailored to their preferences, risk tolerance, and betting style. Some bettors focus on specific sports or leagues where they have expertise, while others specialize in particular types of bets. Strategies such as arbitrage betting (exploiting differences in odds between bookmakers), value betting (identifying favorable odds), and hedging (reducing risk by placing additional bets) can be employed to enhance profitability.
Utilizing Resources: In the digital age, a wealth of resources is available to sports bettors to aid in their decision-making process. These include sports analytics websites, betting forums, social media communities, and expert analysis from seasoned bettors and industry professionals. Leveraging these resources can provide valuable insights, tips, and strategies to improve your betting performance.
Conclusion: Sports betting offers an exhilarating mix of excitement, strategy, and potential profit for enthusiasts worldwide. By understanding the basics, conducting thorough research, managing your bankroll effectively, and developing a sound betting strategy, you can increase your chances of success in this dynamic and rapidly evolving field. Remember, while luck may play a role in the short term, informed decision-making and disciplined betting are the keys to long-term profitability in sports betting.

2024.06.01 09:56 PolicyIndependent619 [Q] Calculating standard deviation for this kind of data set?

I am writing my bio lab report on the effect of the velocity of river water flow on the population of shrimp. Both of the variables are measured variables, so there is no set range or interval for the independent variable(Velocity). Is it appropriate to calculate the standard deviation for this kind of data set? Or is it even possible? Because what I've seen is people use SDV when there is a set independent variable with a set interval and multiple trials for each range. I wish I could post the picture of the table and scatter plot but for some reason it doesn't let me.

2024.06.01 09:34 TopAcanthocephala106 Ultimate Guide for Claw Games

Ultimate Guide for Claw Games
I spend a lot of time and money on claws and would love to share my experience. I usually win between 15 - 50 prizes a week, mostly cinnamoroll. This discussion centers around toreba and how toreba compares with others
First let's go over all the vendors:
  • Tokyo Catch: this is not worth as its games are too hard to win and you can be down 100 bucks with 0 prize. The selection is also really bad
  • Claw.jp : This is an ok option. They do ship to US and require you to purchase 5,000 yen of coins in one shot to get free shipping. This equates to 33 USD. Their games are hard to win, but if you lose too much, they will assist you after you spent around 5,000 yen. Assist depends on whether the worker is around or not. Claw jp also has an option for 1 hit win, which is a machine that auto win for 15 dollars. I usually use it for that exclusively. The prizes overlap with toreba and taito so there isn't much of a reason to use it except for the 1 shot win.
  • Toreba: by far one of the cheapest options out there due to free shipping. If you know what you are doing (play the games that are progressive and guarantee to win ( pin pong ) , you can get a prize at 40,000 tp. This means each prize is 40 dollars. Occasionally they will have 1 hit machine that auto win with 15 - 20k tp. If you see auto win machines like that and you like the prize , it is always a good option to grab. Most of the non-progressive machines are unwinnable and I never spend money on it. If you see a prize that is about to fall, assume there is a magnet in it. When you are playing ping pong games (progressive game) , count the number of balls and the cost per ball to calculate the prize cost. You should also look at how the claws behave. Some claws drop too low and flicks the ping pong , making it very difficult to get it. It is best to skip the game when the claws are messed up. It is annoying that Toreba is very slow to load and it's very difficult to search or be notified when new prizes appear. Toreba machine are tuned in a way that you will almost always need to get every single ping pong ball to win. The trick to toreba is knowing which machines are unwinnable as 90+% of their machines are unwinnable and are meant to just gobble up your free tickets. Although Toreba has free shipping, their shipping time is between 2 to 3 months depend on what batch your items ship out at. Toreba ships everything out once a month and then takes 2 months after shipping to get it. Toreba has a larger selection than Taito does for specific genra ( like cinnamoroll ), but overall I would say Taito has a greater variety than Toreba does. Their prize pool do not overlap that much. I love it when Toreba brings out odd prizes you cannot get anywhere else.
many of the prizes here are unique to Toreba
machine will always place ball as far away from the red circle as possible
it is progressive as you will win eventually when it runs out of balls ( it uses all balls 95% of the time)
  • Taito (https://www.taito-olcg.com/pc) : Inside Japan, Taito is by far the best option to play claw machine. Most people don't know that you can still play taito online outside of japan. They have the best rate and have exlcusive prizes that updates daily. Yen exchange rate also means that you are getting 30% off when playing with taito. Taito's machines are fair and easy to win. Unlike Toreba, all 100% of taito's machines are winnable. If you lose more than 33 dollars (5k yen) , the progress bar will fill up and you will auto win the prize. The machines are not rigged like Toreba and you will be able to win prizes most of the time under 25 dollars. Taito only ships to japanese Address so you will need to get a japanese address from either tenso or tensojapan. (they are different companies) i've tested both and both works. TensoJapan is slightly cheaper than tenso, but their service is bad due to frequent site outages and crashes. After you register with tenso or tenso japan, they will give you a japanese address to enter at Taito. Everytime when a prize comes, tenso will request a forwarding fee to forward package to your international address. I use tensoJapan exclusively to save cost as I can have the patience to sit through page crashes to pay forwarding fees. It is best to ship around 5 items at a time to reduce cost. Shipping 1 item at a time will cost you a lot more. If you ship 5 items at a time, expect to pay around 15 dollars per prize (1 week shipping) or 6 dollar per prize (3 month shipping). You can do the calculation yourself, but if the prize is bulkier, Taito will cost more than Toreba due to shipping. Also if you are bad at playing , Taito will also cost more ( 33 dollars for pity prize + 15 dollar shipping ). You will need to install google translate extension to play Taito. Google translate can translate the entire page for you without intervention. Taito also has Kuji ( lottery ) and the prizes are pretty good. Taito also has daily happy hour to get rid of less desirable prizes at 30-50% discount. Toreba and Taito prizes overlap only about 20% of the time, so I spend money on both platform to get prizes as they do offer different variety of prizes.
google translate makes site usable
kuji lottery for 5 dollar per draw
machines at Taito are fair and you can win in just 1 try ( 3 tries here )
on average it takes this many balls to win ( straight forward probability problem)
  • Other ones: I played about 5-10 other platforms, and their rates are either extremely bad or their prize selections are awful. I uninstall all of those after trying for a little bit.
