Hillary’s IG Stats Overview

May 2022 = 433 posts including the Chantecaille Episode = Hilz received lotions from luxury brand Chantecaille and posted a pic of Edu in a diaper with said lotions. The company didn’t repost, nor did they partner with her. Two days later, she donned her sewer slippers and accosted unsuspecting “needy” people, handing them gifts bags filled with Chantecaille lotions and $50 bills (and recorded herself doing so).
May 2023 = 18 posts including the infamous “humpy yoga” fiasco featuring unnerving eye contact.

Every choice in this video was wilder than the last.

~Recap~

May started with Alec appearing on the “Our Way with Paul Anka and Skip Bronson” podcast. I tried recapping it, but it was basically three boring privileged old white men rambling about their wealth and privilege. Anka’s description of living in a “Murdoch created” gated community near Malibu near the “good airport” – to avoid the unwashed masses at LAX one presumes – was where I gave up on the recap idea and just listened with a scowl.
Some lowlights:

On Having More Kids & Moving to Vermont
Alec: Well, in my family now, I'm the only person I know who drops four kids off at school in the morning and comes home and I still have three kids waiting for me. When I get home, I have seven - I have eight children. Ireland, my oldest daughter who's married, Ireland has a baby, and she and her boyfriend are living in Oregon. And I met my wife and I got remarried and I had seven kids in nine years. It's crazy. (I think you meant to say, “my wife is batshit crazy.” The devil is in the details, Zander)
And then, all of a sudden, I met my wife, who I love dearly, (I think he repeats this in virtually every interview to counter the years of talking shit about Kim Basinger) every time the baby would get to be two years old, we’d go, maybe it's time for one more baby, one more baby, so we have seven kids. But we're actually selling our house, moving to Vermont. We bought a place in Vermont, and I'm trying to get everybody to start to acclimate up there…I think my wife wants a little change of scenery now, it's so crowded out here…I love Vermont. It's so peaceful. We got a great deal. We got fifty-five acres; house was built in 1792. It's very pretty.
The Kids Want Alec Around All the Time
Host: What do you do away from your family? Meaning, do you play golf? Do you play tennis?
Alec: I play tennis all summer...The thing that's happened in these last ten years, especially the last three or four years, is my kids are used to me being around…I mean they really rely on that… when I'm gone, they're like, you know, they're on FaceTime. If I travel to go away for a couple of days to get a paycheck, they’re on my FaceTime going you know, where are you? What are you doing? You know, they're completely baffled when I go away. (God bless those kiddos and I’m preeetttttty sure they rely on Leonela/Leonetta a whole lot.)
Drug & Alcohol Use
Alec: Every day for two years, I think I snorted a line of cocaine from here to Saturn. We did one on the rings of Saturn. Then we came home. We took it back home. I mean, cocaine was like coffee back and everybody was doing it all day. I did a lot of coke and then I and then February 23rd, 1985…I stopped doing drugs and my drinking increased, which is they tell you that's going to happen, and that did happen. I just started drinking. I mean, and the thing, I miss drinking. I don't miss drugs at all, but I do miss drinking. I like to drink. (I appreciate next to nothing about this man, but I appreciate the honesty of this statement).
Host: But because you don't drink, and because you don't do drugs, what do you do? Do you meditate? What do you do to deal with the pressures of the outside, you know, forces, (I think you mean “lawsuits”, Paul) what do you do to get away from that?
Alec: (deadpan) Drink. I drink. I lied; I've been drinking nonstop since 1985. I lie. I tell people I'm sober and I drink my balls off. (Laughs) But no, I do miss drinking, I must say…New York relaxes me. I walk around and I see aspects of it that I've never seen before. I look at a building and I'll go, my god, I never noticed that about that building. Those doors. You know. New York is like a European city. You walk around and keep your eyes open. And I have lunches and coffee with my friends. (Um is he talking about the owner of Madman Espresso? Because that’s the only coffee related person we’ve ever seen him around.) And, I'd like to get out of here because the city is chaotic. (But also relaxing? What the hell?) But we live in the village. It's a little bit more residential. I love New York. I go to the symphony and the opera and the ballet all the time, you know, pretty regularly. But I do try to meditate. Meditating with seven children is like trying to play ping pong on the deck of an aircraft. It's a real pain in the ass. (But they rely on you, Alec?!?!)

Back on IG, Alec commented on a video that Ireland posted of Kim Basinger and Ireland’s partner, André, playing with baby Holland, apparently in the backyard of Kim’s home. The doting abuelo’s comment was “I know that pool deck!” – dude, say something, ANYTHING, about your daughter’s child.

He probably screamed at poor Kim on that pool deck.

An “entertainment” channel on YouTube posted an AI narrated video entitled “Laughing Through Parenthood: Alec and Hilaria Baldwin's Hilarious Family Adventures.” Friends, there is nothing remotely funny about this cheesy video, hence the 246 views (I’m responsible for one of them, sorry) and zero likes.
Alec posted a picture of Marilu captioned “Louie…” and an actually lovely picture of Rafa dancing in a dance studio. Hopefully he and his bargain bin Salma Hayek wife are moving toward just occasionally posting pictures like this (face obscured, not invading the kid’s personal space) instead of the hundreds of invasive and inappropriate pictures Hillary used to post of the kids in the pre-Rust era.

An irate comment on Alec's IG: \"I cannot believe he is wearing street shoes on those floors!\" Now deleted.

People magazine published a puff piece entitled “Alec Baldwin Is 'Understandably Worried' as His Rust Involuntary Manslaughter Trial Looms” (Exclusive Source). Here’s the entirely of what the ~~exclusive source~~ Yoel had to say:
- "Alec is stressed. He is understandably worried."
- "He has an excellent legal team. I don't think anyone is thinking jail time but given the decision for Ms. Gutierrez-Reed it’s hard to know."
- "You have to understand that at the end of the day Alec is a professional actor, so when he's on set, you wind him up, you say action, he pulls out the gun and does whatever he's supposed to do on his job. Then suddenly he's facing criminal charges. It's like, how did that even happen?"
In real news, the manslaughter charging document was released – interesting read!
Surprisingly, Alec did not post a tribute to his wife to honor her “mi cultura upbringing” on the first Sunday in May - when it's celebrated in Spain.
On May 6th, Alec’s ~~lawyers~~ vultures-for-hire filed additional motions to have the case dismissed while Said the Pap for hire posted a pic of himself with Crackhead Barney (who was wearing not much besides some Daisy Dukes a la Hillary Lynn) and Alec was spotted in the wild (with a nanny in tow, because only the peasants walk around without staff).

Imagine having to listen to this guy bloviate in addition to raising his kids.

Rory Kenndy’s lawyers responded to a subpoena issued April 19th to provide video/audio of the Baldwin documentary in the works. Kennedy’s team responded that:
- it would be “burdensome to comply” – Ah, kinda like when people asked Hillary Lynn Hayward-Thomas how much time she actually spent in what she called “the motherland” and she replied, “I think it would be maddening to do such a tight timeline of everything. You know, sometimes there was school involved. Sometimes it was vacation. It was such a mix, mishmash, is that the right word? Like a mix of different things.” Burdensome, Hilz. We get it.

Hillary decided to break her tradition of starting the month with a dose of crazy and eased into May on the 9^th with the first of 5 posts for the month: a story of her two youngest girls captioned “sisters.” Suuuuuuuuper coincidentally, y’all, this is the day Hailey and Justin Bieber announced that they are having a baby. Like, what are the odds, right? Also, StepTía Hilly did not like Hailey’s post (but 11M others did).

Over on his scintillating IG account, Alec posted the news that he will be co-directing a production of Macbeth with Geoffrey Horne for Shakespeare Downtown this summer. Good thing this will be in June, because there might be a bit of a scheduling conflict for Alec in July.
Alec posted two pictures of Edu: one totally scrunched in a too-small stroller and one making the patented Baldwin duck lips. Against all logic, the pic of the kid perched on a tiny stroller became the picture Alec chose as his new profile pic.
On Mother’s Day, Alec dug deep, looked back on his grid, landed on this picture he first posted in December 2023 and said, “this is the one!” It features Alec, his wife, one of their 7 kids, two very hungry caterpillars, and stars the ubiquitous Madman Espresso single use coffee cup. ¡Feliz día de la madre, Híláríá!

Speaking of madres, Dr. Kathryn Hayward is selling her life/relationship coaching shenanigans hard on YouTube and the mother of the child actor featured in Rust is thirsty AF. She posted a video of Alec and her son, Alec reposted the video - a lovefest. Good parenting vibes all around!

Obsessed with the one and only comment this video garnered: “what’s the stethoscope for?”

Hannah Gutierrez Reed appealed her conviction as Alec was out on the town, glad-handing away with no Guest Baldwin in sight.

To add to his long list of RIP posts, Alec paid tribute to Dick Summer (radio personality). Comment highlight 1: “I wish everyone would stop dying. It’s getting me down.” Comment highlight 2: “Did you shoot him, Alec?”
Despite the “would you follow my wife on IG to get to 1M followers” campaign of just four months ago, Hilz is now at 989K followers while this sub is at 53K.

The day a judge heard the motion to throw out Alec’s indictment was also Romeo's birthday so Hillary posted a story (#2 of 5 posts) of her, Alec, and the birthday boy as well as a grid video collage set to John Lennon’s “Beautiful Boy” (#3 of 5 posts) – a solid choice, nothing bad to say here. Alec, on the other hand, did not make a happy birthday post but found time to repost a “Crush the Can” fundraising campaign video from the Baldwin Fund. These videos are not good, if only they had connections to folks the filmmaking industry…

A public service announcement for the Reddit Cares brigade: not posting about a kid’s birthday on IG or not liking a family member’s IG post is not usually an issue. I am well aware that countless people live offline and exchange private messages; however, we are gathered here today and most days to talk about Alec and “Hilaria” Baldwin. They use social media, and IG in particular to cultivate a brand/façade/public persona. Given that, liking/not liking or posting/not posting is of note. This concludes our announcement.

Alec and Guest Baldwin attended the 25^th anniversary of a pretentious restaurant that gleefully reposted a picture of the duo calling them “amazing stars.” Restaurant Sirs, you have been bamboozled.

Maybe she should have kept the sweatshirt from the other day on her head?

On May 23rd, Alec met up with Ireland, her partner and her baby in Chicago and she posted pictures of their visit to the Museum of Ice Cream (I mistakenly thought they were at the MoIC in NYC, my bad). Alec reposted the pictures along with another “Crush the Can” campaign video from the Baldwin Fund.

The next day a New Mexico judicial district judge denied the motion to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter case. This means that Alec must stand trial in July; sometimes the judicial system works in the interest of fairness. If nothing else, it is gratifying to know that he is spending through the nose to mount this legal defense.
With her usual ham-fisted timing, Hilz got to work and posted a grid video of Alec showing his phone to Ilaria Sin Hache (props to u/Longjumping-Stage647 for the moniker). It’s cute – who doesn’t love a baby in a onesie trying to talk and toddling around? Hilz for damn sure knows the value of her “vending machine of joy” and captioned her video: “I want dada, I want dada”….shes talking more and more. This is her first sentence 🤍. They love watching puppies together. The sweet things we are grateful for…that laughter. It calms the heart ⛅️”

Alec was more effusive in his RIP post about Sam Rubin, an LA entertainment reporter who passed, than about Carol.

Maybe Alec couldn’t focus on a more heartfelt tribute to his mother because was distracted by his wife’s unusual move of taking an Uber – quite normal for many but for Hillary My Ancestors Arrived on the Mayflower Hayward- Thomas, it’s usually a private car double parked for maximum chaos or sewer slippers slapping against the grime of NYC sidewalks, so this middle ground must have been confusing for PeePaw.

Your body is nice, Hillary. You don't need the alien appendages on the right or the multiple bras at once on the left.

Alec’s defense team added 9 new witnesses on the last day they were permitted to do so (5/6/24) and did not provide witness statements. Prosecutors argued that this was done in bad faith and that “the State has now been prejudiced by the defendant's strategy to gain a tactical advantage as the State is unable to file pretrial motions as it relates to the new witnesses, is unable to properly investigate the statements of the witnesses and list its own new witnesses to refute the testimony of the belatedly disclosed witnesses.” So on 5/31, the prosecutors moved to exclude the witnesses from the trial. Stay tuned…
As this legal mess was going down, Alec and Hillary made their signature move: a staged pap walk in NYC wearing ill-fitting clothes, clutching phones and Madman Espresso products. How the mightily mediocre have fallen…

I had a close friend (Liam) that I worked with for about a year. We were close in age and had similar interests so we clicked fast. I had spent some nights at his house a couple months ago, about 3 weeks, but every other day. He lives with his brother (Adam) and his friend’s brother (Sam) stays in the living room. I had left 3 pairs of my shoes there (2 very nice pairs), 2 backpacks, and a small tv/game system since we would play together.
I had gotten a new job and moved into a new place so when I went to go get my stuff about 2 weeks after I’d stayed and 1 backpack was there and my tv + game. My Jordan’s are gone, my Air Forces are gone, and my backpack is gone. Over $500 gone.
When I first got there and couldn’t find my stuff, Sam seemed a little off. Very skiddish. Kept saying “uhhh, did you check insert obvious place.” Just not helping at all. Playing with his hair the whole time and talking in a very low voice. (He’s usually very loud and his hair is never brushed. We know he doesn’t touch it.) but said he hasn’t seen the shoes in weeks. Liam said to ask Sam over and over. Sam said to ask Liam. Sam says Liam had just cleaned the whole house that morning. Liam says he’d seen them not too long ago. Liam keeps saying he’ll look and says he didn’t find them or he doesn’t know.
I ended up texting Sam last week and he just blew up and threatened me after the first text and told me never to ask him again and that Liam knows where they are. Adam is a drug addict, Liam just got fired from 2 jobs back to back and has a broken car. I feel like they sold them. I find the whole thing odd, obviously somebody knows something. If my friend lost something in my house, especially something like that, I’d help them find it. How do size 11 bright red shoes go missing? How do size 11 bright white shoes go missing? But I’m not sure what to do or even what I can do. I just want honesty
(None of these people are worth more to me than my shoes obviously.)

Autopilot.
Aware that you cannot move or think or breathe on your own. The words that spew from your lips are nothing more than senseless garbage to appease the masses watching your every move.
You can't scream or cry or beg for mercy.
All you can do is watch your body, your mouth, your thoughts, be puppeteered by thousands of greedy, impatient eyes.
It's like being dead, and aware I'm dead.
Dead, while my body dances, my mind is no longer mine.
I smile a perfect smile. I don't notice the stitches holding me together.
I'm not allowed to notice.
So many layers of skin, flesh over flesh that is patchwork and does not belong to me. I am not allowed to think. I am not allowed to scream or cry, or tear into layer upon layer of Brianna Timberman’s sculpting me into beauty.
Perfection.
No thoughts, except one.
That suffocates me, strangling my words from my throat.
And I am put into autopilot.

Felix was my latest three day fling.
I was using him to make Sam jealous, but a drunken night had turned into another night, and suddenly it was Wednesday, and I was yet to leave his place.
Fuck.
He was supposed to be someone I could kick to the curb, someone to take out my frustration on. Now, Felix was more than a rebound. But even tangled in his bed, I couldn't stop thinking about Sam.
Sam Thwaites rejected me at seventeen years old, and had waltzed back into my life. As teenagers, I told him I loved him, and Sam got all flustered and started shaking his head, like I was something he didn't believe in.
Sam said words like, “I didn't know you thought of me this way.” and “Wait, you liked me?” with this dumb fucking look on his face. He told me he needed space, and left me in the pouring rain.
Five years later, he was standing in my parent’s lounge.
I could still smell him on my skin, and I hated it. I hated him.
“Bree!” Mom’s smile was wide. She and Dad were obsessed with finding me a suitor.
“This is Samuel.”
Sam Thwaites took my hand, entwining his fingers with mine. He was so warm, and I hated that I wanted to fall into him. I hated that my heart was pounding through my chest. I had already seen him, bumping into him in the snow.
I had already shamelessly fucked him in a stall without truly looking at him, angry and frustrated, and really, really, fucking hot. I wanted to tell him whatever he wanted to happen was over. I told him I hated him, curled against him, the two of us out of breath, my head against his chest, his head tipped back, half lidded eyes skimming across the ceiling.
The two of us were sprawled out on ice cold tiles, his fingers stroking through my hair. I told him to leave.
But there he was, standing in my parent’s house. In the exposed light, Sam was maturer in the face, losing his baby fat for more curvier, handsome features. Thick brown curls hung in playful eyes that wanted a challenge.
The slight curve in his lips told me everything I needed to know. Sam remembered our stupid childhood pact.
I could hear it in his voice, the satisfaction dripping from his tone.
“Hello, Brianna.”
I pulled him outside, straight into a downpour.
“What are you doing here?” I demanded.
Sam shrugged with a smile. “We’re both adults, aren't we?”
I thought back to our childhood pact. If neither of us had found anyone by the age of twenty, we would marry each other.
“You left me.”
Sam stepped forward, grasping my hands. “I did.” He admitted, “But I was a stupid kid, Bree. I had no idea what I was talking about, and I was… scared.”
“Scared?”
He nodded, blinking rain out of his eyes.
“I was scared of losing you.”
I laughed incredulously. You did lose me, Sam! When you left me in the rain.”
“But I'm not scared anymore,” his voice was soft. He got closer. So close, I could see his breath. Sam kissed me tenderly, one hand cupping my cheek, the other sliding up my jacket. His mouth found my ear, something wet and warm oozing down my neck.
“Take… it.” Sam’s voice was different, suddenly.
”Please.”
Pulling away from the kiss, I shoved him back.
“How much is my father paying you?”
Sam swiped at his… bloody? lips, and a question sprung to mind.
Where did the blood come from?
“Well?” I demanded, my voice collapsing into a sob. “Is my dad paying you or not? Is that why you came back?”
Sam didn't answer, his face crumpling.
“Bree–”
“Save it!”
I left before he could fully open his mouth.
Halfway down the road, I realized I was freezing cold.
Before a shadow loomed, an umbrella shielding me.
“You look like a drowned rat.” My colleague was next to me, avoiding my gaze. “Take this.” he turned away from me, curling his lip. “Do whatever you want with it, I don't care.” He twisted around, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
The next day at work, I couldn't stop thinking about Sam.
Felix, the lead singer of a local band, and a law student, was the perfect distraction. I met him in a bar.
He was the Aussie trying to get a Dualingo streak, downing shots like soda. His accent was cute. It reminded me of water, or maybe that was just my drunken state. The cadence in his voice was like…trickling.
I told him this, and he laughed. His suggestive wink took us to his apartment, and we spent the night together after I drunkenly told him I thought he was hot. I expected it to be just a one-time thing, but then we were having sex on his kitchen counter.
I told him it wasn't serious. However, a one night stand had become more of a three day friends with benefits thing.
Now, we were sitting outside my work drinking coffee, and I was starting to reconsider my initial stand on Australian Felix.
There was something about the way he smiled with all of his teeth, nervously tapping his coffee cup and occasionally losing himself completely, falling into a daydream mid-conversation. I liked it though.
I liked watching his mind jet off into space. His longing gaze was adorable.
Felix was sitting awkwardly, chin resting on his fist, talking about his favourite band, and I was enraptured by caramel colored eyes and the dimples in his cheeks. The sun was shining, and we were sitting under cherry blossoms I didn't remember seeing before. I was supposed to be working, and he had come to see me, armed with cupcakes and my favourite coffee. Dreamer Felix.

Felix with the trickly accent and slight lisp, who stumbled over his words and had a milk moustache I desperately wanted to wipe away. I did, leaning over the table and lightly brushing the curve of my finger across his upper lip.
“You've got a little…”
Felix’s eyes widened. He swiped at his mouth, chuckling. “Ah. That's… kinda embarrassing.”
A loud and overly exaggerated clearing of the throat made me jump.
“Urgh. I think I just threw up in my mouth.”
Looming over me like a bad smell, was my colleague Jasper, scowling as usual. Standing with his arms crossed over his apron, he shot me a patronising smile, completely blanking Felix.
The boy dumped my latte down, spilling half of it across the table.
Behind him, a group of teenage girls were giggling. I wasn't surprised.
Jasper really could pull off any look, and, just like the girls squealing over him, I couldn't resist handsome features and a killer jawline. It just sucked that he was one of the rudest people I had ever met.
He was wearing the exact same shirt from yesterday, his apron flung over the top, cropped blonde hair in disarray. Running his hair through it, he groaned.
“You're supposed to be workiiiing, Bree,“ He said in a sing-song. Leaning across the table, Jasper’s patronising smile widened. “Are we done here?”
I nodded. “Yeah. Sorry, Jasper.”
“You should be.” Jasper’s gaze flicked to Felix. ”You're a student, right?”
“Uh…” Felix nodded slowly. “Yeah? I guess.”
My colleague shot him a sparkly grin. “Five percent off at the Crap ‘N Shack this weekend! Student discount! Alcohol served after 9pm will be free.”
“Woah, really?” Felix downed the rest of his drink, his eyes wide.
I glanced at his cup. I could have sworn he'd… finished it.
“What about parking?” Felix asked. “Will… I still get a ticket?”
“Nope!” Jasper shot him a grin, and a thumbs up. “Make sure to bring a student ID, and parking is free! It's all going down at the Crap ‘N Shack! This Saturday! With a Special guest, local music artist, Tiema Wright! Performing his new song, “I'm sorry I left you in the rain, but will you marry me?”
Both boys turned to me with matching smiles, speaking in sync. “Will you be there, Brianna?”
I nodded, with a grin. “You bet I will!” I saluted Felix with my drink. “Shouldn't you be heading to class?”
“I love you Jasper!” one of the girls squeaked from behind me.
My colleague rolled his eyes, not even turning around to look at her.
“I know you do.” Jasper sighed, pulling out his notepad and pen.
He side-stepped to the next table, serving the people next to us. He licked his finger with exaggerated slowness, flipping the page. “But you're embarrassing yourself, sweetheart.”
“I'm free after work,” I said, “Maybe you could come back to my place?”
“You're on the late shift tonight with me, so no you're not free.” Jasper said behind me. When I twisted around to shoot him a look, he was tapping his pen on his notepad, mid-eyeroll.
“No, sir, we don't do refills. Nope, I can't make an exception, and no, complaining about it will just make me laugh.”
“I'll text you.” I told Felix.
“Sounds good.” He jumped up, finishing his coffee and grabbing his backpack. The Pikachu keyring on his zipper made me smile. “I have class, but I'll reply when I'm out, all right?”
Felix lifted his hand in a wave, took two steps back, and was crushed by a falling sheet of glass.
I'm not sure when it was my mind stirred, and I regained consciousness for the fraction of a second. It was enough for my vision to clear, my senses coming back to the surface.
The never ending script of words programmed into my brain stopped abruptly, and I was left suffocating on my own breaths.
I was awake.
Awake, blinking at Felix’s body being peeled from concrete.
Awake.
Awake enough to notice my colleague visibly flinched behind his notepad when Felix died. Awake enough to be able to breathe again, coerce words in my mind.
I had zero idea of who I was before Brianna Timberman. Who was underneath flawless skin and manicures and sparkling teeth. My senses returned in waves. Taste.
I had drank the same fucking coffee four times, and I could taste coffee grounds on my tongue.
Smell.
There were sweat patches staining my blouse.
Touch.
I could feel my coffee cup, running my finger around the rim.
I am not Brianna Timberman.
The thought slammed into me, and I felt my hands twitch by my sides, the overwhelming urge to tear off my skin, layer after layer until I found myself.
When did I regain my free will?
Maybe it was when Felix’s blood was seeping across my shoes, his body an unrecognisable mess of stringy flesh and lumps under splinters of glass sparkling like diamonds across the sidewalk.
It took me half a second to realize a woman was screaming in my face.
“Oh my god, sweetie, are you okay?”
Autopilot.
I nodded shakily, words already tumbling out of my mouth.
“I'm fine.”
“Was he your boyfriend?”
Autopilot.
“No.”
For some reason, my eyes found Jasper still hiding behind his notebook.
“He wasn't.”
No matter how hard I tried to fight it, Brianna’s feelings were already swamping me. I felt my cheeks heat up, my stomach fluttering. Before autopilot thoughts could spring out of nowhere, I remembered my colleague’s reaction to Felix’s death, as well as him subtly trying to stop me from talking to Sam.
There was zero doubt in my mind that Jasper didn't know what was going on.
If the rest of us were recycled lumps of skin, what was he? He was a love interest, but he wasn't one of Bree’s exes.
Sam explained my colleague was a curveball.
The so-called bad-boy playing with Brianna Timberman feelings.
With little to no thoughts of my own, I stated the facts in my head.
My life wasn't real. I was nothing but recycled flesh sculpted and moulded into a dead prom queen with her memories. That thought still had not sunk in yet, and when I started to register it, all I wanted to do was peel my skin from my bones until I found myself.

So many Brianna’s stitched onto me. So many lost souls.
I had been on autopilot for days. All that I had left when I came to, was a vague memory of every other death.
Ben, Alex, and Esme.
Car crash.
Suicide.
Carbon monoxide poisoning.
Now Felix.
Crushed to death.
Each of their deaths had been voted m by the townspeople.
It was only a matter of time before Felix would be erased from existence too.
Sam, or the boy underneath him, had shown me who I really was, a lump of flesh sculpted into Brianna Timberman.
Sam had the same fate.
He showed me where he came from, a factory that had turned the town's teen populace into the exact same four faces.
Brianna Timberman’s exes.
Ben, Alex, Esme, and Sam.
First, he was an Alex, then a Ben, and then an extra, who tried to warn me, before being abruptly converted into Sam Thwaites, a brand new love interest, and Brianna’s childhood friend.
Sam told me Brianna’s exes deaths were a joke, her love life controlled by the town through a popularity poll.
Brianna had committed suicide years ago, but the town were obsessed.
They wanted to watch her life. They wanted to see which person she would choose, voting for their favourites while dooming the loser to a fate worse than death. The least popular love interest would die brutally, and the cycle would continue. In this case, it was Felix.
The boy suppressed under Sam had shown me the truth, only to be captured and turned into one of my parent’s suitors. The realization was like a kick in the face. I was alone. Awake and aware of too-bright lights on my face, and unable to cry out or scream.
Brianna Timberman was dead, but according to the town, the show must go on.
Staying very still, I was suddenly well aware of patrons on their phone.
I glanced at a teenage girl, who was rapidly swiping right on an image of my colleague, while a man holding a briefcase lazily swiped left on Sam.
“Your boyfriend should have been more careful.”
I blinked.
Jasper was in front of me, arms folded across his apron.
Sam talked about a Red Zone in the bathroom stalls a few days ago.
He said it was where they couldn't see us, and I would be fully conscious, severed from whatever was in my head.
Jasper waved his hand in front of my face, and it suddenly occurred to me that if I wanted answers, such as where the Red Zone was located, I needed my colleague’s help.
Whether he was awake or not.
Brianna Timberman was in full control of my mind, however, so regaining free will was getting progressively harder.
Two days later, after being stuck on autopilot, I was serving a woman trying to calm her screaming kid.
Felix didn't have a funeral, and his name was already forgotten. In my half awake state though, I remembered him.
I had since met two people.
Adrianna, who was a quick make out in a bathroom stall.
She smelled just like Esme. Roses and cheap perfume.
Ren. The older college professor who I drunkenly kissed in the back of an Uber.
I can't pinpoint the times when I was fully awake.
Fully in control.
I was perfecting a foam heart on a customer's latte, when I realized I really wanted to fuck my colleague. The thought was explosive, immediately setting my cheeks on fire. Trying to suppress it was fighting a losing battle.
“Hey.” Jasper sided in front of me, tearing me out of my thoughts. Or Brianna’s thoughts. I had spent the last hour dazedly staring at his wonderfully sculpted jawline, unable to look at anything else.
Brianna liked to fantasise, and her mind wasn't exactly PG13.
It's not like I had control of my mouth. Autopilot meant my body and mind worked for me. I was just lucky to be conscious– or at least semi-conscious.
I had a semblance of a plan, and the first part was finding Sam Thwaites. Or the boy sculpted into Sam. The last time I saw him before I went on autopilot, I had no idea if he was awake or just a really good fucking performer.
The Red Zone was all I could think of.
If I wanted out of this nightmare, I needed to find it.
However, thinking is kind of hard when all I can think about was my colleague’s biceps.
I couldn't take my eyes off of the way he swung a carton of milk, mid-conversation with our manager.
Jasper caught my eye, scowling.
“Bree. Get your fucking head out of the clouds.”
My colleague’s tone was so shamelessly unapologetic, a group of girls in the queue burst into giggles. The guy was like a circus attraction.
Now that I had a semblance of actual thought, I realized our only customers were women, with the odd man every blue moon. Jasper cleared his throat, setting the milk down.
“Okay, look, I’m sorry your boyfriend got flattened, or whatever, but you need to stop moping around like someone freakin’ died.”
Autopilot.
There was a bright light suddenly.
I shoved him. Hard.
“Why do you always have to be such a dick?”
Jasper was unfazed. He didn't even stumble. I felt it, a shiver creeping down my spine, an insatiable need clouding my thought process.
Brianna Timberman was hot. Very hot. Jasper’s attitude, his movement, everything about him and being so close to him, was making her flustered.
She was sweating under her apron, and all she could look at, all she could focus on, was her colleague. Who was, against all odds, still playing hard to get.
All around us, patrons went silent.
The girls in the queue started nudging each other. My colleague stepped forward, his breath tickling my face.
He was a little too close. “I should be asking you the same thing,” he murmured, lips twitching into a smirk.
“You've been staring at me all morning.” Jasper stepped closer, backing me into the counter. I could feel my cheeks getting hotter and hotter, my thoughts clouding.
Another step, and we were nose to nose.
Jasper cocked his head. “Do I…have something on my face, Bree?”
It took every morsel of self control to turn away from him, back to the queue.
I smiled widely at the customer, making lattes and coffees. But my stomach was dancing, my mind foggy and distant.
It didn't help that every time Jasper shoved past me, he made it intentional, and the friction of his body against mine, his hands brushing my waist, was driving me crazy. Sam mentioned aphrodisiacs being pumped through the vent in the bathroom stalls to influence intimacy between Brianna and her love interests.
I had a feeling that is what was happening. Still, though, when I peeked at the ceiling, I couldn't see a vent.
I couldn't stop my own wandering hands every time he passed me.
It was a game, in a way.
Who would crack first.
I was in the break room trying to cool myself off, when Jasper stepped in front of me.
“Vegan milk.” He said. Despite acting cool and collected, maintaining his asshole smirk, I glimpsed a noticeable red blush spreading across his cheeks.
His lips found my ear. “Can you… help me find it?”
Autopilot.
Autopilot had taken us into the dark. My body and emotions and feelings were no longer mine, choking, drowning, in fog that contorted me into exactly what these people wanted.
I'm not sure how I got from the break room to the storage closet, pinned against a shelf, half naked, my legs wrapped around my colleague. He started, of course, with his mouth latched to my ear, muttering about Mulberry Milk offers, before his lips found mine.
His breath was heavy, his hands finding my waist, and sliding up my shirt.
God, I pretended a lot of things weren't happening for the sake of not losing my fucking mind.
I pretended I couldn't hear the wolf whistles and squeals rumbling in the walls surrounding us, that the pleasure riding through me was mine, and not theirs. We had an audience.
Somehow, that was even worse than my body being used to satisfy others.
I pretended I wasn't fully exposed, and even worse, that I wanted it.
I wanted to get closer to him, pressing my mouth into his clammy neck and burying my face in his shoulder.
I wanted him to continue, his lips in my hair.
Tipping my head back, my vision was blurring.
But I could see it.
Right above our heads, there was the vent pumping us full of aphrodisiacs.
Sex drugs, I thought dizzily.
I laughed, and it was so out of character, Jasper pulled away for a moment, brows knotting in confusion.
“The Red Zone.” I managed to grit out through Brianna Timberman’s mouth. “Where is it?”
When he didn't respond, I grabbed the back of his head, forcing him to look at me. Under the dim light of a flickering bulb, my colleague’s eyes were half lidded, his pupils dilated pools of confusing black. I had no doubt he hadn't been heavily drugged.
Jasper kissed me deeply again, and when I managed to shove him away, he tightened his grip on my waist, pressing his face into my shoulder.
“The Red Zone.” I repeated, my thoughts reduced to soup.
I only had a certain amount of time, and that time was running out.
I shoved him again. This time, I felt filthy.
His clammy hands all over my skin was like poison.
I felt suffocated, every time he leaned in.
The worst part is that this man had zero choice either.
The thought struck, sending violent tremors through me.
How many times had my corpse of a body been used like this?
How many times had I been fucked, or fucked someone else for this town’s sickening satisfaction obsession with Brianna Timberman?
“Tell me where it is!” I said through a shriek.
Jasper slowly started to respond, blinking rapidly. “The… wha?”
He was a good performer, awake or not.
“You knew what was going on when your friends dragged Sam away.”
I kept my voice low, kissing him harder to keep the narrative going. Especially when I could hear the dull sound of pounding feet. These freaks wanted us to fuck.
I made sure to let my mouth linger on his, aware of every inch of the two of us being watched, analysed, probably photographed and posted to the town website. “I saw you flinch when Felix died. Which means you were awake.”
I pulled away, slowly, playing with the collar of his shirt. But at the same time, I was looking for every possible escape route. Sam was right. To my left, I could see a subtle red light dancing across Jasper’s jaw.
And to my right, another skimming across my neck.
So, I grabbed the boy, shoving him against the shelf, switching our positions.
“You tracked me down that day,” I spoke softly, pretending to bury my head in his chest. “You knew exactly where I was. And you took Sam away. So, you know exactly where the Red Zone is. You know where he was hiding.”
Jasper surprised me with a chuckle. When I lifted my gaze, my vision was fuzzy, my body hot and flustered, and yet I was shivering. His head was tipped back, lazy eyes tracking the ceiling. He was following the exact same red light.
“You're a funny girl, Bree.” He murmured. My colleague leaned forward, keeping up the facade for our unseen audience. He was doing exactly what they wanted, the curve of his back almost too perfectly lit up.
It was exactly what Brianna Timberman had fantasised.
Jasper’s panting breaths found my ear. “Keep talking, though? You're going to fuck both of us over.”
His words sent shivers trickling down my spine.
In the corner of my eye, the red light was visible. If the room was too dark, that meant they were tracking and filming our movements. I didn't think.
Grabbing my colleague’s shoulders, I yanked him to his knees, dropping with him. Risking a glance behind us, the light was gone. Which meant (or at least I hoped) that we were out of shot.
Jasper regarded me lazily, inclining his head. “What are you–”
I slammed my hand over his mouth, cutting him off.
“The Red Zone. You know exactly where it is.” I hissed, tightening my grip on his shoulder. When he played stupid, I dug my fingernails in. “You're not an ex,” I said, “So, what are you?”
“Jasper?” my colleague muffled under my hand, pointing to his name tag. When I removed my hand, his lips spread out into a grin. But I caught his eyes frantically searching for those red lights.
“I have no idea what you're talking about, Bree!” He raised his voice significantly, “But… did you know vegan milk is made with only the best pasteurised milk from Mulberry Farms?”
This guy wasn't going to sing, so I had to get creative.
Above us, three red lights were scanning the dark.
They were looking for us.
“Please.” I whispered, searching his eyes for a hint of a human being.
“You're as much of a victim as me, right? Don't you want out of here?!”
Jasper responded with his signature eyeroll, maintining that plastic fucking grin.
“I… have zero idea what you’re talking about! But do you know what I really want to talk about? Mulberry Farms milk!”
I couldn't stop myself. Maybe it was frustration, desperation, or a mix of both. I wasn't fully thinking straight when I grasped the back of his head, and slammed Jasper’s skull into the metal edge of the shelf. I regretted it immediately when the guy’s eyes rolled to pearly whites, his body going limp in my arms, head lolling onto his shoulder.
When a single rivulet of red slid from his nose, I realized he was like Sam.
Sam, who must have given himself a head injury to wake himself up.
A severing.
Under the influence of the narrative, as well as aphrodisiacs choking my thoughts into arousal, I never really saw my colleague’s body. I only saw what Brianna wanted to see. Lean muscles and a perfectly sculpted v-line.
But now, away from the cameras, and in the fading light of a dying bulb, I saw them, running my trembling fingers over rugged stitched and patchwork skin moulding this boy, and so many others, into the perfect man.
I could see where parts of him had been replaced and cut away, his entire face airbrushed into a viewer’s fantasy.
But looking closer, his real eyes were mismatched contortions of blue and brown.
I waited for the sarcastic eye roll and immediate plug-in advertisement.
Instead, though, the man's expression was… softer.
He looked dazed, confused, blinking rapidly.
But, as he slowly drank in his surroundings, his expression started to twist into fear. Pain. Anger.
Anger that was so vast, so overwhelming, that he dropped to his knees, scrubbing at his face. I didn't know what to say. Sorry didn't mean anything. Sam was gentle when he told me I was recycled skin, nothing but a flesh puppet for a psychotic town.
But I didn't give him a chance to take it in. I plunged him directly into this cruel, horrifying reality.
Jasper’s frenzied gaze went to his hands, and then his hands were in his hair, clawing down his face.
His lips parted like he was going to speak, but I don't think he could.
Jasper’s eyes filled with frustrated tears. Terror that was something I could relate to, an existential dread and confusion and pain that was tearing him apart. I knew the questions at the back of his head.
Why me? Why was this happening to me? How can I be alive? How can I be real when the rest of me is nothing?
I felt my own fingers trace the scars across my own stomach.
Scars that only I could feel, deeply indented into my skin.
Skin that I wanted to rip into, to tear away.
Because… I was somewhere, right?
Underneath all of this, my old self was there.
I fucking HAD to be because I can't just be THIS.
Jasper stumbled back, clumsy on his feet, embarrassed and confused, trying to hide himself. When blood started seeping freely from his nose and down his chin, I found my voice. “Hey.”
I spoke softly, and his eyes finally found mine, resembling a startled deer.
“Can you tell me who you are?”
I swallowed thick slime creeping into my mouth.
“Who you were?”
For a sobering moment, it was just the two of us.
Not Brianna and Jasper.
His eyes found mine, truly drinking me in.
And something sparked in his expression. Recognition, or familiarity.
His hands cupped my face, fingers running down my cheeks.
The man was mute, speechless, and yet somehow, he was crying.
Crying for me.
A stranger.
Somehow, though, my hands, or at least part of my hand, the stitched and rugged parts of me, responded to his touch.
“Bree? Jasper?”
When the door flew open, I jumped to my feet, pulling the boy with me.
They were paranoid, I thought, mirroring Sam’s earlier words.
The town was making sure we were still satisfying them.
To my surprise, Jasper’s eyes dilated back to brown.
“Uh,” His voice was choked up, more of a growl, “Give us a sec, all right?”
Autopilot.
I bent down and grabbed my shirt, throwing it on.
Jasper buttoned up his own, brushing himself down.
He stepped back, winking.
“Same time tomorrow?”
Autopilot.
Brianna didn't speak. Instead, she headed towards the door.
She wanted him to chase after her for more.
But not before Jasper came close, hissing in my ear.
“You want to go on a suicide mission? Fine.” I was already pulling away, or Brianna was pulling away, because my body was being forced forwards.
Still, he held me, tightening his grip. “The thrift store across the street. Stall three, in the bathroom.” He said. “Just, please,” Jasper’s tone softened.
“Please never fucking do that to me again.”
So, I had a location.
The problem was actually getting to it.
Autopilot.
It was stronger, forcing me onto the stage.
I spilled coffee over a customer, and of course, Jasper came to the rescue.
When I dropped a tray full of drinks, slipping on someone's mess, his arms were already wrapped around me, catching me before I could hit the ground.
When our eyes met, Brianna Timberman’s heart fluttered.
The people surrounding us were already swiping right on their phones.
Jasper helped me stand up. “You… should be more careful, you idiot.” He grumbled.
I nodded, straightening up.
Jasper leaned against the refrigerator. “Do you know Sam Thwaites?”
I didn't look up from making coffee. “Yeah. He was…”
I blinked away memories of the two of us as kids.
“Just a friend.”
“He's bad news.” Jasper said. “The guy is working for your dad.”
“That's not… that's not true.”
“Oh, really?” He stepped in front of me, head tiled to the side. “So, he just came back into your life for no reason?”
“I don't want to talk about Sam.”
“But… Did he leave you anything?” Jasper murmured. “Like a… I don't know, a parting gift, maybe?”
Before I could reply, my colleague blurted, “What were you wearing when we were… “ He looked around nervously. “Looking for vegan milk?”
“I… don't know?” I prodded at my apron. “This, I guess? Why?”
“Oh, no reason!” he winked at me. “Did you know my Aunt died recently?”
“No…”
“Well, her funeral was all sorted within a matter of days,” Jasper continued, speaking through that same grin.
“Callister Funeral Care really did give me the comfort me and my family needed while we were in mourning…”
Autopilot.
I woke up halfway through my shift the next day, in the middle of serving three boys.
Immediately, I dropped what I was doing, darting to the door.
“I'm going on my break!” I yelled, grabbing my jacket and pushing through a group of girls. The town thrift store was empty. I was pushing through the door when a girl pushed past me, hard enough to knock my jacket out of my hands. When I scooped it up, something dropped out of my pocket.
Inside was a single black disk-shaped thing. I stuck the plastic down my bra.
“Bree? What are you doing here?”
Lifting my head, my colleague was standing over me.
Jasper’s smile was a little too big.
When he helped me up, his voice was a sharp breath. “How exactly are you planning on getting in the men’s bathroom, genius?”
I had a way.
But neither of us were going to like it.
Autopilot, however, did my job for me. I was in a bathroom stall on my knees, when reality hit, and I shook my head of fog. Jasper was already pulling me to my feet. Pressing his index over his lips and motioning for me to be quiet, he pointed above our head. Instead of a window, there was a hatch. “Red Zone Two.” He mouthed. "Fucking go!
I nodded, climbing onto the toilet bowl, throwing myself through the hatch.
This time, I felt directly into a pile of still-wet and still warm bodies.
But these weren't Alex’s or Ben’s, or Sam’s.
My own face, my perfectly moulded and sculpted Barbie doll face stared back at me. Brianna Timberman was everywhere. Her glazed blue eyes and wide smile were suffocating me. It when I stood up, did I start to see patches. I saw skin and hair, torn and stained clothes with body parts still attached to them. Different faces.
Girls.
Beautiful girls with their heads severed, their bodies reduced to mutilated flesh.
Smiles stretched into skeletal grimaces, and eyes scooped from the sockets.
As if I felt connection with the doll pieces around me, I started to claw at my legs.
Like I could find my own skin, revel in it.
I stood up, at the sound of a mechanical whirring. In front of me was a blood stained conveyer belt that wasn't moving, that was frozen. Just like the room with Sam’s, Ben's, Alex's, and Esme’s. I felt my fingernails rip into my arms, and my face. My gaze was glued to the cutoffs, the human bodies scattering metal flooring. Is this what I was?
I ripped into the skin of my face until I felt the sting.
But there was no fucking blood. Nothing to remind me I was human.
“Bree. You need to get out of here. Now.”
I was barely aware Jasper had joined me. He fished up my jacket.
“What are you?” I asked him, my voice shuddering.
“Wrong.”
His response surprised me. “Which is why they're going to kill me off soon, and I'll die the way I was supposed to.”
Jasper’s words collapsed into white noise.
Instead, I was someplace else, a memory splintering into dozens of memories.
I was… Clara.
Jamie.
Lily.
Kiera.
Becca.
Elizabeth.
I was running.
Screaming.
A guy was in front of me, tugging my hand.
“The far gate is the exit!” The voice in front was female.
“If we reach it, we’ll get out of here. Just keep running.”
A sharp flash, and I was standing stiff. Upright.
I was moving, a long line of girls in front of me.
I felt them, writhing, entangled around my bones.
Every girl I was made out of.
The cruel needle plunging into the back of her neck, instantly killing her.
A second needle injecting a solution that kept the body alive.
Her thoughts and feelings and sensations.
All of it was kept alive.
Conscious.
The whirring blades coming down and skinning away her face, her eyes, her lips, her screams falling on deaf ears.
Her sculpted body, naked and raw, was shoved forwards.
The next metal arms made sure to stitch up loose skin, adding and removing and slicing away what was no longer needed, adding a metal exoskeleton to assure no damage. Then came clothes, a yellow summer dress, exactly what she was wearing on the day Sam Thwaites dumped her in the rain. The final metal arm was more of a brush, a thing scraping across the face to make sure Brianna was perfect.
When she tumbled off of the conveyor belt, smiling widely, I wasn't Clara, or Jamie, or Lily…
Fuck.
I was Brianna Timberman.
Standing at the end of the line, with his arms folded, was Brianna’s father.
His smile was proud, eyes glinting with madness.
He stroked my face, eyes filling with tears.
“She's perfect.”
The memory shattered, coming apart, when something pricked my neck. There was a blinding white light on me.
“We’ve got her, sir.”
A muffled cry, and I could just see Jasper being wrenched back.
“Hey! I did what you told me to do! The pocket is empty!” his voice deepened into a growl. “Let me go!”
The figure who grabbed him seemed to enjoy his discomfort. She had wandering hands. “Five more seasons, pretty boy.” The woman hummed. “Brianna may have forgiven you, but your debt is with Mr Timberman.”
“Wait! No, we had a fucking deal you piece of– mmppphmmh!”
I was forced onto my stomach. “AND the love interest who appears to be faulty. It's the tracer who was supposed to be following her.” The voice swam in and out, as my mind plunged. *“Yes. I'll get him remodelled immediately. Uh-huh. Brianna is A-okay, sir. Do you have my permission to proceed?”
Autopilot.
This time it was deep, dragging me to impossible depths.
“Brianna!”
Mom’s voice snapped me back to half-fruition.
I was standing in my parent’s hallway in front of Sam.
Sam, who had lowered himself to one knee, a ring pinched between his fingers..
“Say yes!” Mom stood behind me, standing with my brother.
Autopilot.
My lips spread into a smile.
Two bright lights on the two of us.
“Yes.” I whispered, when he wrapped his arms around me. “I'll marry you.”
The walls around us were ooh-ing and ahh-ing.
When the lights switched off, and Sam’s smile stayed plastic and taut, I realized the boy underneath was gone.
But it was when his head was in my chest, did I remember his earlier words.
“Please. Take it.”
Autopilot.
The day skipped forward.
I was only aware of my mother’s hands tangled in my hair.
She was dragging me down the hallway.
“Don't worry Brianna!” She said gleefully, tightening her hold.
“No daughter of mine is this much of a nuisance, and the show must go on!”
I was shoved into a room, on autopilot.
But, after regaining myself, I can break myself out of autopilot.
The medic came to see me.
According to her, I'm slightly severed.
They're going to fix me. Like what they did to Sam.
Look, it's been three hours and I've been thinking about a lot of things. I know you can't save me. I live in the blip of a town, a town you can't find on a Google search. I know I'm a prisoner.
But I think I know how to save myself and the others.
Mainly. I want to cut Brianna Timberman away, and look underneath.
But I'm terrified that under all of these layers? They're will be nothing left.
I've already done most of it. Right now, half of my face is caught under my nails.
But I'm not
Fuck
I can't find me???
Im not bleeding, I can't see anything that looks like ME and when they come back they're going to patch me back up.
They'll stick someone else's flesh over me, and call me Brianna.
But I'm not Brianna?????
I'm not any of those girls, so who am I?

I (23 F) have been friends with Lily (23 F) since early last year. We both lived alone and were fresh out of toxic relationships where we had become incredibly isolated. Fast forward a few months and she had made new friends in our very secluded town, which she decided to move in with.
For convenience we’ll call them Sam (22 NB), Jake (23 M), and Trevor (23 M).
Sam had already lived in the complex they were moving to and was able to get keys early, and since Lily’s lease ended a month prior to her ability to get keys for her room, she shared a room with Sam. (It is a rent by room complex) My boyfriend and I packed Lily’s entire two bedroom apartment with her in a day and filled up my storage unit with her belongings. The two boys who were supposed to move in wouldn’t be arriving until the weekend after Lily’s birthday.
Lily and her roommates decided to have a party the Saturday everyone officially moved in to celebrate her birthday and the new place. Of course, because she is my best friend I was invited to go and did.
I knew almost no one there except Lily and Sam, but with Lily and I both being socially anxious people it wasn’t a big deal and we primarily stuck by each others side. Things got rocky with the party very quickly with someone puking on the stairs about an hour in and Lily realizing after speaking with the roommates there was a handful of people that no one who lived there new. Lily became rather upset when her crush at the time, Mark (22 M, a trained EMT), kept pushing the time he would be showing up. Like most college kids, she decided to drink even more to avoid her feelings.
Another hour into the party it becomes apparent that one of the girls who no one knew was incredibly wasted. She was barely able to keep her head up and a guy who also was only known by his sleezy reputation was trying to get her to go outside with him alone. Lily and I noticed and went out too, just to make sure she was alright. It didn’t take long before the poor girl was puking into the rocks by the stairs and the weird guy walked away disgusted. As we tried to wrangle her inside to get her to Lily’s room, she proceeded to start losing her ability to talk and hold any of her body up on her own. We got the girl upstairs when she lost consciousness for the first time. We laid her on her side with a trash can nearby and water debating on whether or not it was time to call paramedics for alcohol poisoning, especially when we couldn’t find her friends. I insisted it’s better to be safe than sorry in a situation like this, it’s not like anyone would get in trouble. Mark had showed up during this time and also helped us assist her, by this point she was going in and out of consciousness and we three decided it was best to make the call. I offered to call because Sam had already expressed they thought it was overkill and I didn’t want Lily to be in the middle, especially when she spent half her birthday party taking care of a drunken stranger.
While I called, Mark and Lily got the girl down the stairs and I waited outside for the ambulance to come. When the lights were visible inside Jake came out of the house yelling at me. I was confused and explained it was a group decision because we would all rather be safe. I quickly turned my attention to the paramedics and tried to start explaining I was the caller and explaining what had happened. Jake proceeded to get between me and them, talking over me, and saying it was all a misunderstanding. He did let them in but locked me out while doing so. As soon as he finished talking to them, he came back out and proceeded to yell at me again and tell me I wasn’t allowed in the house amongst other things. (I’m outside without my purse, phone, or shoes mind you) I stood my ground that I would get my things and he should speak to Lily about this. He kept yelling over me and eventually shoved me to the ground. I tripped over my feet in the process and stood up in shock. I can only assume he realized what he did was wrong because he stopped yelling and let me inside not long after, though he was still saying very hateful and rude things.
Obviously, the party quickly came to an end after that. Jake went to his room and I spoke with Lily and let her know what happened after the paramedics left, which ended in her just crying from being overwhelmed. Mark took her to her room to calm down while I asked Sam and Trever if they needed anything before I left. They asked if I minded helping clean up so we proceeded to pick up all of the mess, Mark even joined to help shortly after. As the shock wore off I realized my foot hurt pretty badly, but I didn’t think much of it. Sam, Mark, and I decided to plan a surprise party at my house for the following week to make up for the mess this day was. Once we exchanged contact info and solidified the plans Sam (who had stayed sober) offered to drive me home. While getting ready to leave I realized putting my shoe on was painful so I just held them on the way home. During the drive, Sam reiterated that they thought it was overdramatic to call for help and that they were sure Jake was just “too drunk” so I shouldn’t think much of what happened. I wasn’t even sure how they found out about what happened so I just repeated that it’s better to be safe than sorry at the end of the day and let it be.
The next day I realized I was limping rather badly but figured it would go away. Unfortunately for me, it didn’t. After a couple of days of barely being able to walk I went to the ER to find out my foot was fractured in 3 places. I let Lily know because she was my best friend and would be coming over in just a few days.
Fast forward to the day of the surprise party, Sam picked me up so we could get all the goodies for the party. During the car ride they told me that Lily and Jake had gone out partying the night before and were being incredibly close all night. Of course, that hurt. I didn’t want to start any mess so while talking to Sam I just joked that I hoped she wasn’t too hung over and will enjoy her mini-redo party. While she was hung over, once Mark showed up she was happy. However, not long after, I kept getting told to just stay inside rather than join everyone for partaking in the devils lettuce after the first couple of times. They all proceeded to give me various excuses as to why they left, only to post on their stories that they went back to Sam & Lily’s to party with Jake and Trevor.
Though that did hurt, I did my best to let it go and not start any more drama because I felt like I caused I rift in everything. A few weeks later, Lily brought up that she was glad I didn’t make my foot a big deal and later opened up that she had partied with Jake and that the two of them had gotten close. I still tried to be neutral because it is her life after all and said I was glad she had someone to play her favorite game with and though I never want to be at her house again or around him, she is her own person and it isn’t my place to be mad about what she does. Regardless, it still hurt. I took note of the behavior and separated myself to a degree I felt comfortable with. Obviously, I never expected her to move or shun her roommate but I didn’t feel comfortable with my best friend being so close to someone who assaulted me.
The next week, her mom was coming into town (who I met before and loved) and she wanted all the roommates and I to go to a dinner together. At first I thought I could tough through it but the closer it got the more I realized I couldn’t handle it. I was still in a boot and on crutches at this point too. I ended up canceling on them which hurt her feelings.
This all happened in August/September of last year, I had never been back to her house the since. We have hung out sporadically since and a week ago she asked me to feed her cat over the weekend while she was out of town. She has watched my cat and dog previously so I agreed without question at first. It wasn’t until I got to the house that everything hit me. I already have PTSD but didn’t realize being at their house would be another trigger. I still took care of her cat because it was just a couple days but it definitely took a toll.
Now this is where I may be the asshole: while on her trip she went through a break up. She is taking it rather well and even texted me that “Lily & OP saturdays can come back now!!” Initially I was excited because I do miss spending time with her. However she followed it up with “Jake is officially moved out now so we can even hang out at my house!” When I let her know I still wasn’t comfortable spending time there, she got mad at me for still not wanting to go to her house.
So, AITA?

2024.05.30 21:09 BellaBrowsing "Long Story Short" Analysis: The Matty, Harry, & Taylor Love Triangle

My case for why I think “long story short” from Evermore is about Matty, Harry, and Taylor.
There’s a timeline of Matty/Taylor pinned to this sub so for the sake of context and my theory, I am going to highlight just pieces from that and include the timeline for Harry/Taylor and Matty/Harry’s relationships to set the stage.
~Back story – Timeline:~
Jan 4, 2013 – Reports that Harry/Taylor break up. This is a day after the infamous “blue dress on a boat” moment. ~But keep in mind, there are reports of them rekindling on/off for almost all of 2014.~
September 3, 2013 – Harry tweeted about liking The 1975. Matty comments later that he gained 15k followers in 10 minutes from Harry tweeting about the band. 2 days later, The 1975 covers “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction in the BBC Live Lounge. Matty & One Direction go on to have friendly interactions throughout 2013 into 2014.
April 29, 2014 – Denise Welch (Matty’s Mom) says that Matty is working with One Direction and writing a song for them. Matty confirms this later in an interview.
October 27, 2014 – Taylor releases 1989 album.
November 19, 2014 – Taylor and Selena attend their first The 1975 show in LA. Take pics backstage.
November 28^, 2014 – Fans report seeing Taylor in Chattanooga at another 1975 show. No confirmation from either team or photos.
December 4, 2014 – Taylor and Karlie attend The 1975 show in NYC. (The starry gaze from the balcony, the dedication during fallingforyou, this infamous show) ~Harry is also there.~ Reports prior to this date indicate that One Direction decided not to use the song Matty wrote for them on their album and it was speculated that Matty was upset by that so Harry went to the show as a good faith gesture to a friend.
December 6, 2014 – Matty has "meltdown" on stage. Cites “girl problems, family, finances" as the reasoning.
December 30, 2014 – Talking about the song “Style” Taylor mentions this song is about a relationship that is never truly done.
February 25, 2015 – Brit Awards after party where Taylor is seen in a group with Elle Goulding, Nick Grimshaw, and Matty in pictures. This is where she meets Calvin Harris.
April 12, 2015 – Matty says Harry and 1D stole his sound on their song “Change Your Ticket.”
Pretty much from 2015-2023 there are various instances of Matty calling Harry out for queer baiting, it’s obvious they are no longer friends. In 2019 Matty tweets at Harry, saying he wants to produce his next album then tweets Harry blocked him. Not a lot I could find from Harry’s side.
January 15, 2023 – 3 days after Taylor performs “The City” and “Anti-Hero” at The 1975 show, Matty says on stage that he invited Harry to perform with them but it was a “hard no.”
April 2023 –Taylor & Matty dating rumors start to heat up.
April 14, 2023 – Matty says “Fuck yeah, I win!” after playing About You.

Okay so now that we have that timeline and information. I am starting to believe the real love triangle that started this all was Matty, Taylor, and Harry. Since I have been revisiting Taylor’s prior albums after the release of TTPD to find Matty connections, this led me to listening to “Wonderland” (1989) & “long story short” (evermore). Two songs that are connected lyrically and sonically.
We know that 1989 has a lot of Harry inspired songs. It’s hard for me to, with confidence, link Matty to anything on 1989 because we don’t have official reports of them hanging out until after it was released. For the sake of this argument, I am going to assume that none of the original recordings of 1989 is about Matty. (Slut! was a vault track).
~The song “Wonderland” on 1989 is heavily speculated to be about Harry. It plays on the theme of Alice in Wonderland.~
~Lyrics tying the song to Harry:~
“Didn't they tell us don't rush into things? Didn't you flash your green eyes at me? Didn't you call my fears with a Cheshire Cat smile?”
“We found Wonderland. You and I got lost in it and we pretended it could last forever.”

Harry has green eyes. At the time of them dating, it was reported that Scott Swift asked them to not rush into things.

~The song “long story short” on evermore sonically sounds very similar to “Wonderland.” Additionally, the lyrics tie it to the theme of Alice in Wonderland:~
“I fell from the pedestal, Right down the rabbit hole, Long story short, it was a bad time.”
~Lyrics that complete the story:~
“Clung to the nearest lips, Long story short, it was the wrong guy. Now I’m all about you.”

This lyric to me implies that the guy from the rabbit hole aka Wonderland was the wrong guy and it should have been the “you” she is singing to.

“When I dropped my sword, I threw it in the bushes and knocked on your door. And we live in peace, But if someone comes at us, this time, I'm ready.”

The lyrics suggest that she was not ready for this person the first time they met but she is now. This also reminds me of “to impaired by my youth to know what to do” from “Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus” on TTPD.

~Then in the last verse. The lyrics that made me go THIS IS MATTY!~
“Past me, I wanna tell you not to get lost in these petty things. Your nemeses, Will defeat themselves before you get the chance to swing. And he's passing by, Rare as the glimmer of a comet in the sky. And he feels like home, If the shoe fits, walk in it everywhere you go.”

We know from TTPD that when Taylor is describing Matty, she uses space related imagery: The entirety of Down Bad, Starry-eyed, moon, galaxies. Which links us back to “Snow On The Beach” for example where more of that imagery is used.”

TLDR: Matty and Harry’s friendship goes from friends to foe during the time between Harry/Taylor fueling rumors of rekindling their romance and TayloMatty rumors of dating. The only conclusion I can come up with is that Matty fell for Taylor, they hung out or hooked up, but Taylor was still pre-occupied with whatever was going on with Harry to fully commit. We also know that Matty was dealing with drug issues at this time and there are reports that Scott Swift & her management team definitely tried to steer her away from pursuing both Harry and Matty. Although we see Matty/Taylor again in Feb 2015 at the Brit Awards After Party, we know she also met Calvin Harris that night. Which leads us to potentially what the song ”Questions?” is about. Ultimately, Taylor goes on to be with Calvin. Until … Matty “wins” in 2023 LOL

Like, John is If we take out the context of the supernatural a very shitty dad, like high tier bastard, but in context? Not so much a shitty dad, but a dad dealt a shitty hand.
Dude's wife one day burned up on the ceiling, he probably thought for a while that he'd gone crazy and him being a veteran most definitely didn't help with that thought.
But then does enough research and finds out about the supernatural, and that it was some creature that murdered his wife. His whole world has been turned upside down, he already has two kids he needs to take care of and for that he needs to be functional and there isn't truly anyone he can even share this all with that will understand so he powers through for his kids.
He wants revenge, but also wants to keep his kids safe and there is no denying this, before John became drill sergeant he was a great dad who loved his kids, still did in the end but was too consumed by the life.
There is something out there that he doesn't know what it is, all he knows is it's got bad mojo, killed his wife on top of his baby's nursery and burned his house down and doesn't know why. This thing could've did this for some sick sadistic sort of fun or for a reason, he doesn't know but what if it comes back he needs to learn more about this world and protect his kids.
He goes into hunting, meets a lot of people and as a vet has experience on how crazy people are and has now seen even more of the darkness of this world. He can never truly trust anyone 100%, they could all have some agenda he doesn't know. This world is not kind.
He needs to go out and fight and learn more and at the same time do some good for this shitty world but what about his kids? He can't trust anyone with them what if they're some sicko or someone that can be easily influenced and have that monster come back? He can't trust nobody, his kids need to learn to depend on themselves when he isn't around because he can't be around so much if he wants to truly protect them.
He doesn't like it, but he needs to be tough on them otherwise this world will kill them because its had its sights on them since a long time ago. They're already in, there is no out, not till he knows what happened that day.
He can trust his oldest, Dean, he's a good kid, he's putting a lot of responsibility on him and is making him grow too fast, he doesn't like it, but there is no other good option.
He meets Robert Singer, he seems like a good man, he can trust him with Sam and Dean for a while, but not always, they have to move and he can't have Sam and Dean be too far from him.
He trains Sam and Dean to hunt, he's tough on them, he needs to get into the mind set of when he was in the marines and train them to be good soldiers,, they need to be if they're gonna live in this world. He can't pamper them.
Dean takes it like a fish in water, his youngest not so much, but what other option is there, its either this or their throats get ripped out by a vamp or wolf down the line. They're in and till that thing is gone, there is no out.
He finds out more about what that thing is, its a demon, a demon was there that night and killed his wife. Demons are very few in the world he finds after much research and after even more, the ones topside are either the lowest of the lowest or the tippidy top of these bad sons of bitches, and this one that killed his wife seems to be the fucking latter.
He must have some bad plans, but what, what does he want? Why his family? Why kill his wife? What's the gain? These types don't do just things for fun, these guys are the schemers, there is something that's missing.
He does more research and looks into other burned homes and dead wives and listens to the stories of the husbands and finds out that a common theme is the babies, all at 6 months old, just like Sammy.
He's there for the babies, but the babies are all left behind they're not taken, so what can the son of a bitch be scheming?
One thing's for sure Sam needs to be watched, for his protection and to know what the demon plans.
He doesn't know how to feel about this, he's angry, frustrated, his wife died, his life turned upside down and Sam just keeps disobeying him. He gets his points but Sam doesn't know the full story and he's frustrated and it always turns into an argument with his youngest. Sometimes he has some devilish though that blames Sam, that maybe if he... No, these are foolish and evil.
Sam is not at fault, that demon is, it's not like Sam chose for this!
Now his youngest is saying he'll go to college, is he an idiot!? Doesn't he understand!? Is he leaving his only family!? After all they've done for him he's now going to abandon them!?
"If you walk out that door, then never come back!"
Later, he regrets it. He was just so angry. He goes to check on him from afar and keep him safe like he's always tried to do.
He's found some new Information, the son of a bitch demon is called Azazel, apparently he's been... he's been feeding these babies his blood, to prepare them to lead some demon army.
His Sammy has that monsters blood in him.
It's evil, he has evil in him, but no, Sam is the farthest thing from evil! He's kind and empathetic, hell the brat felt even bad for monsters!
But what if it changes him? No, he needs to end this fast, he doesn't know the full story, but this monster needs to die before his plan comes to fruition and ruins his boy.
He goes MIA, he can't have any interaction with his sons, he needs to make it so the bastard whose tail he's now got doesn't know they're his weakness. He needs to think that he's gone insane in his quest for vengeance and doesn't love his sons anymore.
His son Dean is dying... But what can he do, if he stops now the whole world may end up dying, Sam may become a monster. Dean would want him to protect his little brother and he can trust Sammy to save his brother, they've got each other, that's how he raised them.
Sam didn't kill him and now Dean is dying, he can't accept his eldest's death, he's still too young. Without Dean it wouldn't matter what he does Sam will be ruined, either dead or become a monster, that's how he raised them and what that monster has done to him.
He needs to warn Dean, but he can't tell him everything otherwise the monster may refuse to bring him back, after all, Sam always loved Dean more, that's how he raised them.
"Dean, you have to either save Sam or if he's beyond saving, you need to kill him"
Yes, better his son dead than a monster, he is sure Sam would agree.
(I don't agree with all John did because of course I now have a better perspective as a watcher of the show and know better ways he could've gone about it. But how would you go about it if you were in John's shoes and had to work with what he had? I'm interested In what you'd do)

Considering how much the first game was railroaded and linear, Mirror's Edge was the perfect series to move to the openworld since its gameplay is about incentivizing the creative thinking in movement. The problem with Catalyst is that despite moving to the openwrold, the world doesn't feel "open" enough. It still feels restrained and
Game Maker's Toolkit made a great video of Mirror's Edge Catalyst, in which he compared its rigid openworld to Burnout Paradise's openworld. He criticized the game as an openworld being ashamed of being an openworld and making little use of it. The world gives the impression that it is huge and non-linear, but in reality, it is an illusion. Despite the player's robust moveset, the paths are too linear, the map has too many dead ends and gaps, and there seems to be only one way to get between the districts. This is why the player gets confused and lost in navigation, so the player has no choice but to rely on the "following the line" HUD guide, which is authentical to the "openworld" navigation.
I pretty much agree with his assessment of the game, and I thought about another openworld game that focuses on navigation, physics-driven movement, and systemic traversal and puts the player in the role of "delivery man"... called Death Stranding.
Obviously, Mirror's Edge and Death Stranding have completely different directions from each other: Mirror's Edge is about keeping constant momentum and Death Stranding is a trekking simulation than a platformer. However, there are commonalities between the two. Both games do a good job of matching the moving character to the environment like a real weighted person in the real world. Both games have a consistently simulated world. Both games have constant jumping and a level design philosophy. Both games involve free open areas where the player has the choice of how to get to the other side of them. Individual platforms may not always be difficult but the skill involved in being efficient and the pathfinding makes them rewarding. The player movements aren't automated but require the player's input and mastery in the traversal. You actually have to pay attention to your actions. They solved the "hold W and spam the Space Bar" problem. The absence of automation would require thoughtful precision and calculation from the player, but be viscerally rewarding once mastered.
While both games excel at the moveset and mechanics, Death Stranding goes beyond it to make a living, breathing openworld--in a sense that its world provides environments to reflect the player agency and choices. The player plans ahead, brings out the different equipment, and changes environments to make their own route, utilizing the interconnected systems that make the traversal possibilities infinite. It revolves around the actions and systems around the traversal that add depth to the environments as well as the basic character actions. The basic actions as well as the relevance of the environment have lasting consequences for the moment-to-moment gameplay and long-term planning. Trying to move up and down a muddy slope requires a different tactic than trying to move up or down a grassy slope, especially if you have a heavy, unbalanced load, as Sam is in constant danger of losing his balance and slipping. Other factors play into the moment-to-moment gameplay, such as wind. If you have a large stack of packages, the wind will make it harder to maintain your balance. Snow and rain will also affect how you play. You can unlock various tools to make your traversal play out differently, such as ladders as makeshift bridges or setting up a network of zip lines. It set out to redefine the openworld genre where the emphasis was put more on slowing down the action and having mechanics related to walking along with the levels/terrain being designed to have weight compared to the mindless and set-dressing that environments become in other games.
Does Mirror's Edge Catalyst allow the player to experiment as much as this...?

People make fun of Kojima for saying that a "Strand Type game" is its own genre, but let's be honest, it is. There is no other game on the market, especially in the AAA space, that's anything close to Death Stranding. The "Strand Type" genre means a game where your objectives are achieved through social interaction to connect things. The player's objective is to create "strands"--connections that allow cities to interact with each other. You also “interact” with other players by finding stuff they were trying to deliver but lost or dropped and completing the delivery. You give and receive help and feedback from other players without direct player-to-player in-game visual contact/interaction.
Mirror's Edge is the perfect series to do something like this. It could have borrowed some design tropes from Metroidvania by focusing on exploration and gaining more abilities and ways to move around the map. Now, in the beginning, the city is confusing. The paths are linear and there are dead-ends everywhere. This linear design, initially, accustoms the players to tutorialization without being overt tutorials.
So, on the surface, you just run around the rooftops. However, as Faith completes missions and quests, the player earns money, and you can buy equipment, gears, grappling points, signs, zip lines, jumping platforms, and ladders. The player can place these things all over the map. So you have a strategic goal: get to the point you are supposed to, and you have a less strategic goal: develop the area around your path.
Too confusing to where to go in this part of the district? Place the sign and arrow posts that give the player directions. There is a dead-end in this corner? Place the long ladders and ziplines so that you make your own route. There are cops concentrated in this part of the city? Place grappling points and traps to make your own escape route. This way, these dead-ends become opportunities with the abilities and items that allow the player to make their own courses. It slowly opens up the world as the player progresses and changes how the player traverses by changing the environment.
This means the player can tackle multiple objectives within a world, born from the marriage between a robust moveset and the reactive environments to encourage exploration and freedom in the traversal. You can place the ziplines and grappling points to get to the high places you want, or you can use advanced tricks like chaining various platforming moves according to the player's skill. You then have tactical goals like delivering this or that, here and there. There is also an incentive to create shortcuts and custom routes like this with satisfaction from completing the mission or setting a new score record, which means a high monetary reward.
The development of the area is visual; you can see and use the pathways you just helped to build. The player can buy spray cans and draw graffiti to make the world look different. This way, the player can mold the openworld to their own, both functionally and aesthetically. The player can change the districts with different architectural styles so that the city is more recognizable and easier to explore. The player has something to do all the time on all parts of the map.
The progression is also made by creating new routes after clearing certain objectives, such as getting a keycard that lets the player open a shortcut, or making chaos in one area draws the cops from the other areas, which allows the player to pull out and sneak through the unguarded areas. As the player explores and discovers certain landmarks, they learn certain techniques that help them access new areas or make access to other locations by using faster routes. With landmarks like towers, you know where you're supposed to go, but you can guess where to go while kicking off cops along the way.
Then there are also several mechanics that make traversal different. For example, you move down the roofs when the clouds pour rain. Faith's delivery package becomes degrading quicker and her wall run gets more difficult. This can be solved by buying different types of shoes, but it decreases the normal movement speed. Rain can also be advantageous for the player, which decreases the footstep sounds, which allows Faith to move easier out of the guards' ears. The occasional fog clouds the player and the enemy's visibility. Either the player can face the environmental challenge head-on, or sit in a shelter, waiting out the storm while listening to a relaxing but upbeat song, creating an atmospheric moment.
If you put the game online, the other players might put their own placements and messages like Death Stranding and Souls games. Maybe the player can enter the different player's map, which has different routes and aesthetics. This is how you make a living breathing world. For me, a living breathing world is a reactive world that provides environments to reflect the player's agency and choices.

Welcome to the newest edition of BoxOffice Long Range Forecast.
We're making long range predictions for films, 4 weeks out from their premieres. You will predict the opening weekend, domestic total and worldwide gross of these films. These predictions will be open for 48 hours and the results will be polled to form a consensus and posted the next week.
So let's meet the two films for the week.

A Quiet Place: Day One

The film is written and directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig), based on a story he conceived with John Krasinski. It serves as a spin-off prequel and the third installment in the A Quiet Place film series. The film stars Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Hounsou. The film is set before the first film, and follows a woman named Sam who must survive an invasion in New York City by bloodthirsty alien creatures with ultrasonic sound hearing.

Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1

The film is co-written, produced, and directed by Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves, The Postman and Open Range). The film stars Costner, Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Giovanni Ribisi, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jeff Fahey, Will Patton, Tatanka Means, Owen Crow Shoe, Ella Hunt, Jamie Campbell Bower and Thomas Haden Church. The first part in a planned four-part saga, the film is set in the American Civil War period depicting the expansion of the American west.
Now that you've met this week's new releases. Let's look at some pros and cons.

PROS

A Quiet Place is one of the most lucrative franchises for Paramount. Despite opening in May 2021 under bad conditions, Part II made just $40 million less than the first part. One of the film's most praised scenes was its opening scene depicting the beginning of the alien invasion, and now the audience will have the chance to see it in a full movie on massive scale by moving the setting to New York City. The film can also take advantage of the weak horror slate and offer something that the audience wants to actually watch. And while John Krasinski is not back in the director's chair, Michael Sarnoski received high praise for Pig, so his presence is a fantastic choice to ensure there will be some good quality.
Among old generations, Kevin Costner remains one of the most recognizable stars, and the audience will probably be interested in seeing him return to the Western genre. After all, Yellowstone is the most watched scripted series in North America, so perhaps he could translate that popularity to the big screen. This could also be a good attraction for old audiences, who don't necessarily rush out to watch a film as soon as possible, so it can hold extremely well.

CONS

Neither John Krasinski nor Emily Blunt nor the other characters return for Day One. Something that helped the franchise earn this high was the connection that the audience felt to their characters, so their absence may put an asterisk on how high it can go. Outside Star Wars, prequels aren't known for outgrossing their original films, although Day One has the advantage of having new characters, so we don't know who lives or dies (except for Hounsou).
As mentioned, this is the first part in a planned four-film Horizon saga, with Chapter 2 releasing in August. That's a lot of commitment for the audience, realizing that they will watch incomplete films. That already asks the question: will they watch a film that has no closure, along with the three other sequels? It doesn't help that Chapter 1 alone has a 181-minute runtime. But the biggest factor might be its own reception; it already premiered in Cannes and it has received poor reviews (33% on RT).

Dream from last night. I can't recall everything so bare with me here. I remember that I was shopping in a warehouse store, similar to Sam's Club, Costco, etc. I was in the freezer aisle with the frozen meats section are. In this section they had a section of frozen iguanas, its in a giant box, I oppen it and it truly is a whole iguana, a big one, tail and all just without its skin and a pale pink. Now I have been vegan/vegetarian for 2-3 years but in that dream curiosity got me into buying it, it was pricey, probably about $80.
I got home, which is similar to the apartment my family and I used to live in. and was excited to how I can prepare it. I remember watching a video years ago that shoe how a different culture would prepare it. So I follow the steps. I got a marinate that was a bright red color and probably a sweet spicy one, and coat the whole iguanas in it and let it sit in the fridge for hours.
Hours passed, afternoon, and it was time to cook it in the oven, my mouth was surprising watering. Of how it would turn out. Then before I could I heard my mom(50s) and little sister(18) enter the room carrying grocceries in. I hide the iguana as I didn't want to hear their comments about how I am all of a sudden eating meat, let alone something out of normal. I know I felt panic in the moment, similar to when you know how that one person will react negatively to what you are doing even though it harmless, nothing to do with them or doesn't relate to them in the slightest but the way they react to it makes you believe that it's wrong even though you find enjoyment in it so the solution is to do your own thing when they are not around. Not getting caught.
So I hide the iguana somewhere, I dint know. And they put the groceries away and explain they are going out again and I was drag to go with them. I hate it. I remember feeling irrated that I had to go with them to this place where there is a long line where them and everyone else that was trying to get into the place. I think it was a new grocery store or a fast food place. Not sure. But I had to be in that line and not at home fixing my dish.
At something I mange to sneak away but got into some kind of cartoon shenanigans, after that I woke up and well that's about it.

Mason straightened at the sound of an incoming message on his phone, lifting the screen just enough to read it. Then he jumped to his feet.
Khai: I’m here.
“YES!” he shouted, slapping his hands together as he took off for the living apartment’s front door. He knew Khai wouldn’t have come the mortal way and, as such, fully expected him to be on the other side of that door rather than the massive entry door to the whole floor.
“Mas’n!” Maddy cried, causing Mason to skid to a halt. Both Maddy and Levi were sitting with their backs to the wall the living room shared with the half-bath, watching the big screen TV above Llyr’s chair.
Well, Maddy was. Levi looked partially lobotomized.
“Hey, guys! I didn’t expect you to still be here.”
“Lucas ducked out to grab us some supplies, though he should be back by now.” Levi patted himself down and must have realised he was only wearing boxers and a shirt … as in no pockets for a phone. He eased himself forward and gently balanced his weight on his medical boot before shoving up onto his feet in one move.
“You know, medically, that’s not doing you any—”
“Zip it,” Levi grumbled, waving his lecture aside.
“Where ya goin’, Daddy?”
“I’m just going to our room to get my phone and find out what’s keeping Uncle Luke.”
“Unca Lu-cas,” Maddy corrected, emphasising the second syllable.
The fact that a three-year-old could get it right and her father couldn’t had Mason snicker-snorting, though he quickly covered his mouth and nose with both hands to hide the evidence.
Levi’s filthy glare still said plenty. “Right. Uncle Lucas … and Auntie Charlie,” he drawled without looking back at her. He hobbled around the couch to the hallway. “Be right back, Peaches.”
Mason would’ve loved to stand there and chat, but his boss was at the door. He moved through the alcove and opened the front door. “You came,” he said, beaming up at his newest mentor a beat before stepping back to let him in. “Come in.”
Khai stepped into the apartment and removed his shoes without asking before entering the living room. “This is more like what I was expecting of Llyr’s residence,” he admitted, spotting and dismissing Maddy sitting on the sofa, who was staring at him wide-eyed.
“It’s okay, bunny. This is my boss from work.” When Khai didn’t answer, Mason nudged him. “Say ‘hello’ to Maddy.”
Only then did Khai’s eyes find the little girl. “Hello.”
“How in the world are you a father?” Mason muttered more to himself, then overcompensated with a huge grin. “He’s gonna help me study so I can get even smarter. Isn’t that cool?”
But Maddy’s eyes never left Khai.
Meanwhile, Khai focused on Boyd’s carving on the coffee table. “A housewarming gift from Kala?” he asked, gesturing to the piece.
“No,” Mason chuckled. “Though the big guy’ll get a huge kick out of knowing you thought so.”
Khai frowned and moved closer to the carving. “Are you sure? This is exceptional work…”
“Positive. Llyr gave him some … errr … special tools, so there’s no stopping him now.”
“Ahhh,” Khai said, with a nod of understanding, his eyes flicking once more to Maddy. “Well, your friend had better be careful. History is littered with people getting their hands on those types of special items or gaining some manner of assistance and then deluding themselves afterwards into thinking the outcome was their own. Look at Jason and the Argonauts. He had no idea he had Zeus’ son in his crew when Hercules accompanied him on his adventures.”
Knowing all that information would flow right over Maddy’s head, Mason squinted at his boss. “That’s the golden fleece dude, isn’t it?”
Khai’s painful wince would’ve been funny under any other circumstances.
“Hey, I’m a vet. Not a mythological historian.”
“Anyway, please tell him not to believe the skill is his. It never ends well when they do that.”
Mason didn’t want to argue anymore, despite knowing Hell would freeze over twice before he’d say anything of the kind to Boyd. “Did you want some lunch before we start?” he asked instead.
“No, I’m good, thank you.”
Mason turned his attention to Maddy, who was still staring at them like a deer in the headlights. “You stay right there, baby girl, okay? Daddy said he’ll be right back.”
“’kay.”
A few seconds later, Levi passed them in the hallway on their way to Mason’s room. “Hey,” Levi said, nodding at Khai before extending his hand. “Levi. Levi Dobson.”
“Khai Nasc—Khai Hart,” Khai returned, shaking his hand without exerting any other emotion.
Levi grinned, obviously catching the slip. “I figured you had to fit in somewhere to be allowed into the inner sanctum.” He glanced at Mason. “Luke said he was—Lucas! I mean Lucas said he was on his way back.”
Mason smirked and nodded. “We’ll be in my room if anyone’s looking for us. Studying,” he stressed when Levi raised an eyebrow. Mason pointed briefly at Khai. “His wife is expecting, and his sister is my boss. So get your head out of the gutter. He’s here to help me study for my finals.”
“Nice,” Levi said, bobbing his head. “Sorry, in this household, anything’s possible.”
“You have no idea,” Mason muttered under his breath as Levi headed back into the living room. And speaking of oddities, he suddenly remembered Brock was still using his gaming system. “Before we go in, my youngest roommate is in there playing online games in the corner. But he’s truly in the inner circle and knows all about you and the divine, so you don’t have to watch what you say or use the phrase or anything because it won’t work on him anyway.”
“You have an interesting household, Mason.”
You have no idea, Mason repeated in his thoughts as he reached for the doorknob, opened the door and stepped inside. “It’s awesome, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.” He gestured briefly at the gaming machine on his way to his desk. “Brock, Khai. Khai, Brock.” He didn’t bother looking at Khai. “He probably won’t hear you, but just covering bases in case he’s in a lull between fight scenes.”
Khai didn’t respond to either of them, so Mason assumed he’d done something to know Brock was, in fact, fully submerged in his game. “Here, you have my seat, and I’ll go and steal another from Sam’s office.”
Mason returned a minute or so later, pushing Sam’s giant executive chair ahead of him.
“I thought you said Sam was against wealth.”
“Yeah, well, he’s drowning in it, so it’s a case of sink or swim.” Mason twisted it beside his own and was about to sit down when Khai lifted himself out of Mason’s chair and slid into the new one.
“You sit where you usually do. I’m the only one between us who can stretch enough to reach everything,” he said in explanation.
A few minutes later, Khai showed him precisely what he meant by elongating his arm over the five-foot desk to take control of the Sectra table with fingers that sprouted dozens more to program an image of a feline’s shattered back leg and hip. With so many fingers working at once, Mason couldn’t ascertain what the parameters were before the image appeared on the screen.
“Okay,” Khai said, pointing at the display. “You have a distraught client in Consult Two, bringing with her a large Maine coon who was hit by her father’s plough while it was clearing snow. She’s had the cat now for over ten years, ever since her mother died.”
“That’s a low blow,” Mason growled at him.
“You were the one to point out the emotional element, Mason. Now, back to the board. You’ve done an initial check of the hip and found it broken in numerous places and the foot is hanging by the skin with the bone exposed at the ankle. After an x-ray and CT scans, this is what you see.” He refocused on Mason. “What do you do?”
Mason took a deep breath to clear his thoughts, putting himself into the roleplay. The x-rays showed the hip had been wrenched free of the spine, with the left side shattered in several places. His first instinct had been to end the animal’s suffering, but the owner’s connection became part of the equation. “How long ago did this happen? What does the bloodwork show?” Maybe there was a chance to salvage this. Maybe.
More buttons on the Sectra table were pushed, creating a fake bloodwork report that showed no sign of blood poisoning yet, which only meant the accident was recent enough to have not had that complication. More proof that he was a beloved pet that had been rushed to the clinic.
The rest of the information was far from good. “We need to find out how bad the damage is to the sciatic nerves in both hind legs.” He stood up and went over to the scan, pointing at the crushed bone and the subsequent mass on the CT. “It’s caught up in this mess, it could be damaged as well as pinned. If he’s really lucky, it might just be pinned, in which case surgery to release the pressure is an option.” He looked Khai in the face. “Right?”
Khai tilted his head. “Depends. What do you tell the owner?”
“The truth. Always the truth. We can’t tell the extent of the damage to the legs until we operate, though, at this point, it’s not looking good. In fact, I’d let her know before we proceeded that it was as bad as she feared and that euthanasia was a strong possibility.
“She needs to know that if she agrees to the surgery and we open him up and find the nerves in both legs are severed, no amount of work on our part will make a difference. I’d also tell her to stay close to the phone, for we’d need her to make that final decision.”
Mason’s heart ached under the weight of the news to an owner that didn’t even exist. “And then I’d offer her a hug because I think she’d need one.”
“How do you do that?’ Khai asked, breaking the illusion of the role play.
“Do what?”
“How do you engage so thoroughly with people … even ones that don’t exist? You act like you personally know them…”
“I put myself in their shoes, Khai. Or I put someone I care about in their shoes. If it’s an older woman, I put Mom there. If it’s a young kid – I picture my sister there. Either way, I make it personal.”
Khai hummed thoughtfully.
“What?”
“Just thinking how unfortunate it is that most of my immediate family are too old for this to be applicable…”
“Isn’t your wife—uh…mate—whatever you call them…isn’t she pregnant right now?”
“She is,” Khai said cautiously.
“Right. So, there’s your touchstone for pregnant women. You wouldn’t be blunt if it were her, would you?”
“I would,” Khai admitted. “Choi is a warrior. She’d rather have all the facts as soon as possible.”
“Even if the fact you had to relay was one of your other kids had accidentally been killed due to goofing off with their siblings while she was away?”
“That would then become a case of self-preservation. She would literally kill whoever had been tasked with watching over them and failed, even if it were me.”
“Your wife sounds scary.”
“She’s a blooded warrior, like all border veterans. Cross her at your own peril.”
“Okay, well, what about your kids? What if one of them comes in with a native pet that they’ve attached themselves to, and it’s been … I don’t know … bitten by a poisonous snake, and they want you to fix it.”
“Then I would.”
“I’m beginning to see what the problem is here,” Mason huffed in frustration. “C’mon, bossman. If you want to feel empathy for your clients, you need to see the heartache or the hope that that person has in your ability to cure their beloved pet and ask yourself ‘how would I feel if that was….’ And put in a name. It won’t take long for that stance to become a default setting because caring and healing is what we’re all about, right?”
“That may work here, but once I go back to the border, empathy isn’t a luxury I can afford.”
“Maybe not in the heat of battle, but once the emergency is over, a little empathy for those around you might bring you into a tighter team.”
“Why did you want to be a vet?”
Mason was startled by the question. “What do you mean?”
“You could make a lot more money going into human medicine, and your personality, for the most part, is well suited to psychology. Why did you choose animals?”
Mason’s grin was immediate. “Maybe because they can’t tell me no when I’m trying to help them.”
“Don’t deflect.”
Mason hadn’t meant to, but that had always been his go-to answer and no one had ever called him on it. Now that Khai had, he honestly wasn’t sure about the whys of his decision. Thinking about it now, he realised while farming was in his blood, it wasn’t what ignited his passion. “I can’t picture my life not being surrounded by animals, but I wanted more out of life than just raising them.”
“High IQ and EQ.”
“High enough, anyway,” Mason argued, lifting his chin towards the gaming console in the corner. “Brock over there is a real genius. If he sat for an IQ test, he’d probably reset the top score.”
Khai glanced back at the machine the young man had wrapped around him. “Perhaps that’s why he seems so intent on trying to decrease it with computer games.”
Mason snickered.
