How to write to your MP
- Why write to your Member of Parliament (MP)? MPs need to hear from their constituents.
- They depend on constituents to educate them about what issues are most important to them. Writing a letter only takes a short amount of your time but it ensures that the people who make decisions on your behalf, every day, know how you want to be represented. Your MP receives hundreds of messages each week on a wide range of issues – your letter may well be the most interesting one that they receive!
Why not write directly to the relevant Minister?
- The purpose of a Results action might be to encourage the Minister of International Development to increase investment in a certain program or intervention that has proven effectiveness. Rather than write to the Minister directly we usually write to our MPs. We believe that it’s more effective to reach out to your MP directly but for some campaigns it will be more strategic to reach out to Ministers. There isn’t a rule set in stone.
We do this for two reasons:
- Writing to your MP greatly increases your likelihood of receiving a response. The vast majority of MPs will almost always respond to letters from constituents and will be happy to forward your request on to the relevant Minister (even if they disagree with you). In turn, the Minister will be obliged by Parliamentary convention to respond to letters from an MP.
- You can educate your MP in the process. Even if your MP is not the direct target of the action, your letter provides them with an opportunity to learn about the issue, that concerns their constituents, and take action themselves.
Why doesn’t Results provide templates for letters?
- MPs and their researchers have confirmed on numerous occasions that an original letter sent by one committed, passionate constituent is far more powerful than a pile of identical letters or postcards. Mass email actions and template letters have less impact because the MP knows that they only take a few seconds to complete and are not necessarily representative of the priorities of their constituents. The fact that you have taken the time to craft a personalized and well-informed letter demonstrates to the MP that there are people in their constituency who care deeply about an issue. In turn, your opinions are likely to be taken more seriously as a result.
- Handwritten or email? Every MP is different. Some are happy to correspond with constituents via email whereas others give a preference to written letters. The best postal address for your MP is their Parliament address (House of Commons, Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6). Upon reception of the letter, if your MP is not in Parliament, the mail is automatically forwarded on to them.
Writing your letter, Top Tips:
- Be succinct – aim for your letter to be no longer than one and a half page. Keep to the point – focus on one issue and don’t try and cover too many things in one letter. Don’t forget to include your address – so that your MP knows where to send the response.
- Check your MP’s correct title – do you address them as Mr, Mrs, Dr, Sir, Rt. Hon? You can check by looking up your MP on the official Parliament website: http://www.ourcommons.ca/
Structuring your letter
- Step 1: Introduction. If this is your first letter to your MP, you might want to start by introducing yourself and sharing why you care about the issue that you are raising. If you have a personal connection to the topic of your letter, then this is a great way of engaging your MP and conveying your passion and commitment. Remember to acknowledge your MP for any supportive actions that they have already taken – MPs rarely hear the words ‘thank you’ from their constituents.
- Step 2: Use the EPIC format. The acronym ‘EPIC’ is a useful way to remember how to structure the main part of your letter. After the introductory paragraph, your letter should follow this structure:
- E = Engage your MP. Get your MP’s attention with a dramatic fact or short statement.
- P = State the problem. Present the causes of the problem you just introduced. How widespread or serious is the problem?
- I = Inform the MP about the solutions. Develop your solution by giving examples of how and where it has worked, how it is cost-effective and how it has benefited the poorest.
- C = Call to Action. Now that you’ve engaged your MP, presented the problem and informed them of a solution, you need to let them know what you want them to do about it.
- Step 3: Ask for a response. Make sure to be clear on how they can get in touch with you – written response is ideal!
What to do afterwards?
Pressing ‘send’ or putting your letter in the post is not the end of your action!- Step 1: Congratulate yourself. You have taken an important action to help generate the political will to end poverty. Take a photo of yourself posting the letter and post it on social media (tag your MP)!
- Step 2: Follow up with your MP. If you haven’t had an acknowledgement of your letter after a couple of weeks, give your MP’s office a ring to confirm that they have received your letter.
- Step 3: Report back on your action. Fill out the online report to let the Results office know you’ve written a letter. When you receive a response from your MP, make sure to also inform the Results office of this so that the information can be compiled.
- Step 4: Be encouraged! Even it seems that the response you received individually wasn’t great, don’t be down heartened. It is the strength of the Results network that drives change, and by writing that letter you have directly inputted into that collective effort.

I had an abusive therapist in 2021 whom I recently, and so kindly, made a review page for on RateMDs (Canada); turns out a lot of people feel the exact same way about her, and one person claimed they are reporting her to the ethics board due to her verbal attacks.
My next therapist in 2022 was abusive, even worst than the last. It was so bad I ended up reporting to the ethics board, and the therapist is now doing coaching for the time being. If I had recorded the sessions it would have been game over for that therapist. It killed me for a long time that I didn't record the sessions.
I later sought out a new therapist; my friend warned me that the one I chose had "crazy eyes" and it was red flags all over (based on their PP profile). I should have listened.
This new therapist, Alex, almost killed me, again. He was awful. The second I walked in the room, I warily mentioned my past experience with the abusive therapist. In response, Alex started accusing me of having "destructive" behaviours - despite that I didn't tell him anything about my behaviours yet. I hadn't told him anything at all, just that I was anxious due to a past experience. I think he has issues with younger women.
I saw Alex from August 2023 - April 2024. In this time, he was immediately convinced of his own assumptions - never asked me to explain my experiences or thoughts or anything like that - confronted me constantly for things he pulled out of thin air (he would twist anything I said and then confront me for some alleged bad behaviour or cognitive distortion), and was entirely unwilling to try a different approach despite my (at first) gentle attempts to communicate that his approach wasn't working and was making me very unwell. I can gladly provide examples but it'd end up being a long ass post if I do that, so bear with me. He couldn't handle me even trying to talk about my past therapy abuse, because it was assumed to be my fault. Any dissent was "resistance" or rigidity. He refused to do trauma work despite that being the foundational problem.
He refused to let me "free associate" (psychodynamic therapy) because he was convinced it would cause me some wild regression (as if his current approach wasn't fucking me up). That is, he refused to let me speak my mind.
There was nothing for me to work with in the therapy. It wasn't grounded in reality; it was just all about how awful I am, yet not even in a way that was tangible - he could never explain himself. I was already hanging on a thread from my past abusive therapists, and I pretty quickly developed a substance use disorder (prescription) to try to cope. Began to vape nicotine constantly to try to stabilize myself. I began to isolate myself. By December 2023 I stopped going out at all - again. You know, almost died from the therapist in 2022, my life was almost ruined, and couldn't go out at all, and there I was basically back in the same place.
I never missed a single session. I even opted to increase to twice a week session in an attempt to resolve whatever was going amiss. I continuously tried to establish a working relationship with him. My self-confidence and sense of reality and self were devastated.
Anyway, March 2024 comes around and it comes out Alex diagnosed me with BPD and that was why he was so confrontational (and frankly pulling horrible things out of thin air). Now, I'm pretty darn sure I have either schizotypal or a psychotic disorder. I was under the impression he was treating me for this, as he himself said he dx'd me with schizotypal. But I was also very confused because being confrontational with the kinds of populations I fit into is exactly not what you're supposed to do and has been proven to fuck them up. It's one of the reasons I stayed so long; I just dissociated into oblivion. Not to mention the CPTSD.
I end up sending Alex an email detailing my experiences, which was hard to do. He never asked me about my experiences before (it was all about his assumptions of me), and I thought I needed to try to put an end to this, to again try to establish a working relationship.
The next session, Alex immediately begins to apologize, tells me how he misdiagnosed me, that he's been treating me for a Cluster B disorder when he should have been treating me for a Cluster A, that the "treatment" not working wasn't my fault. He also was convinced that this is what went wrong in my past therapies; that they misdiagnosed me with BPD when the issue was schizotypal, and that it just so happens that applying the confrontational treatment for BPD to schizotypal can basically end the schizotype. (TBH he was way too generous to these past therapists; all him saying that proved to me was that he never believed me in the first place.) He told me he "failed me" and that I "humbled him." He was almost crying he seemed so sorry.
I was already looking for a new therapist, but I was grateful that at least it seemed like things were set straight with Alex. I mean, I now had a substance use disorder and all the more therapy trauma, but I'm pretty happy with little. It was mutually agreed upon that the termination was due to the ways in which the misdiagnosis made the treatment inhospitable for me. It was ended amicably but I noticed he began to act weird around me, very distant, etc. I didn't think much of it, figured maybe he was more emotionally involved when he thought I had BPD for whatever reason.
Found a new therapist at the beginning of April - a formally trained, internationally-based psychoanalyst out of all things (was getting desperate) - and things are going well, finally. No therapy abuse; no issues that even closely resemble the issues I've had with the abusive therapists, etc. Things are finally "easy" with a therapist; the sailing is as smooth as it can be. Also it's entirely free association and it hasn't caused me any issues, contrary to Alex's conviction that letting me speak freely would be devestating to my wellbeing.
Well, two days ago I contacted Alex as I wanted to go to a boutique treatment centre for my prescription substance use issue and they were requesting recent past therapist notes. I thought what a better option than to have Alex send his notes with an explanation that he misdiagnosed me, that he thinks I have been misdiagnosed continuously in past therapies and that's why I've been "treatment resistant," and so on and so forth. Also, given that I developed the issue because of the stress from Alex, this way my story would be corroborated.
Alex was adamant sending his notes was a bad idea, and that the ethics board actually recommends that psychologists write summary letters of the treatment instead. I thought that was nice that Alex was looking out for me. I explained to Alex what I'm looking for in the letter (with the central focus being on the misdiagnosis issue), and that my main goal is to help prove my eligibility for the program (they only take "highly motivated" clients; it's more relaxed in terms of restrictions and what not). I agreed to pay Alex around $400 for his time. I really thought Alex and I were making further amends and that it was so nice he could have my back on this.
Alex gets back to me with the worst letter imaginable. All about how the treatment failed because of ME, how we never made any progress because of ME, that the "lack of consensus on treatment goals and methods" was a massive barrier, and that this all happened despite that the frequency was increased to twice a week (which he failed to mentioned only occurred because I requested it, in an effort to save the therapy!). He made no mention of the fact that I never missed a single therapy session or any fact that would make me sound good, not to mention that he didn't even so much as touch on the fact that the therapy failed because of HIS misdiagnosis. He made it sound like the termination occurred because of how treatment resistant I was.
He also downplayed my trauma (I asked him to speak out this in the letter), saying only how I have a family history of "neglect" and being "scapegoated." My mother would scream at me, like to the point her lungs were going to burst, as a small child until I blacked out, this continued up until I was kicked out at 18, and I have serious CPTSD. I was even diagnosed with PTSD at one point. Like? Alex is supposed to be a specialist in trauma.
So I read the letter and was confused. Got back to him assuring that I'd still pay him, but suggested maybe he remove some parts of it if he can't revise them. Told him I disagree with the reasons for termination and why the treatment didn't work out, and reminded him of the fact he misdiagnosed me. I was honestly very confused and thought maybe he forgot. Told him it's probably not helpful to minimize my trauma.
Cue a minute after I send that email, and it suddenly dawns on me. The pathetic excuse of a therapist never recorded his fuck up in my clinical file. He obviously maintained his delusional narrative within his notes, presumably to cover his ass in case I reported him or sued him for malpractice (unlikely anyway), given that his misshapen and misapplied "treatment" caused me a ton of harm due to his incompetence.
I was seeing red and sent him another email informing him that I actually recorded our final sessions in light of what happened with my previous therapist (and Alex knew about my regret of not recording those sessions, and I'd often leave my phone out during our sessions). It's one-party consent in Canada, and Alex at the very beginning told me he was fine if I recorded the sessions anyway. So yeah, I emailed Alex whilst appalled telling him all about how I recorded him stating he misdiagnosed me, was treating me for the wrong disorder, that therapy not working wasn't my fault, and so on.
Told him he can either write me a letter based on facts - facts I can corroborate given my session recordings - or I'm not paying him for shit. Told him to not even bother replying if he isn't willing to write me a letter grounded in reality. Shockingly, he never got back to me.
And now he'll never know if I was bluffing and he gets to spend the next few months in terror that I'm going to use session recordings to report him for knowingly putting false information in clinical documentation.
What the hell. He could have at least TRIED to make me sound decent in the letter given that he knew what he was saying was bullshit. I guess dissonance is a real bitch. I also don't for a second buy that if I had BPD, his shit-tier "treatment" would have magically worked. It was gaslighting and abusive. You can't just make horrible assumptions about people or create a false reality, shove that in the person's face, then gaslight them all the more when the person is fucking confused and, eventually, distraught.
What a gaslighting loser. I should legitimately report him. Leaving him a bad review as we speak.
(I have had many legitimate delusions myself and don't find the term "delusional" as a pejorative to be offensive. LMK if I should edit it out though.)

My mother in law who is in her 50s was at home off the job, and fell from the porch and broke her arm. For reference we live In Tennessee and she worked at a large hospital. Of course the doctor said she’d need to be off work 6 weeks to heal. HR was demanding she come in to work within 2 weeks. WITH A BROKE ARM. I also worked for same hospital in surgery and am very aware of who the HR agent she dealing with. I am not sure if they are fully aware we are family but I almost feel like she’s taking it out on her because I has quit there for better job. I actually gave them double notice also to be nice and the same hr lady basically pleaded with me but I denied her as I needed higher pay and I was getting that else where. So I don’t know if it’s for revenge or what. Anyways so 2 weeks had went by and her doctor told her and the hospital she does not need to work yet. Which the doctor is also affiliated with hospital so they knew 2 weeks was too short. They basically demanded she quit on her own will, which she denied because she need to be able to get unemployment. She is not rich and clearly has unexpected medical bills now. The HR agent called her from her office, not any witnesses . Over the phone she said she was terminated aka fired. However her letter of separation says she quit on her own free will. I know she is doing this to not pay unemployment and so she can’t apply for it. What should she do? And can she fight it? And is this good enough reason for her to sue and have good chance of winning ? Thank you Reddit and those who read this.

I know some probably won’t believe me, but this story is 100% true. The only thing I’ve life about in this story are the names. This really did happen to me and my family
Prologue: This is very long story, and will be split into two parts, so be prepared for a bumpy ride. To premise this trilogy, there are a couple thing you need to know. We are on a vacation to LA. My mom, Allie, is a doctor, and my dad, Joel, works in IT. They’ve got three kids. Me, Henry, my twin brother, Jake, and my younger sister, Ella. All names in this are replaced with fakes. None of us have been to LA before, but my parents have travelled the world, so they know how travelling works. My brother and I are both in the school band. We arrive from LA back home at midnight on the 6th of April, then leave for a school band trip to Portugal on the 8th. I am the lead drummer for all three bands, and one of only four basses in the choir, so I cannot miss the trip. My brother plays bass, but there are others who can play bass in the band. This information is to be used for all three parts of this story.
Part 1: The Drive The story starts at our Airbnb in LA. We have to leave the airport to go home. The plane leaves at 11:00pm and my dad wanted to leave at 7:00pm just to be safe. My mom said that it was fine and that we could leave at 8:00pm, my dad agreed. So the time was set. 8 PM, we would leave. We leave a little late, 8:05-8:10, because Ella, who’s 7 years old, was making a fuss. We leave, and take the 40 minute drive to LAX.
We arrive at the airport, and my dad gets into the six lanes of traffic that are converging into 1 lane going into LAX. We wait in our rental car for 30 minutes, and we have to go to the rental car return. My dad starts driving while following the signs. He takes a right, takes a right, then takes a right, and we’re right back at the six lane hellhole. My dad sees this, goes “hell no”, and turns around ON THE FREEWAY. Nothing bad happens, no horrific injuries. And we go back the way we came, through the rental car return road, making sure to follow every sign TO THE LETTER. It takes us right back.
My dad is panicking, because at this point, the plane leaves in 1:40, and we’re not in the airport. Anybody who’s travelled knows that that’s risky. My dad starts telling us in the car to look on the maps and figure out a way in. The only person who listens is my brother and my mom. My sister is playing Minecraft, and I’m listening to a podcast. After about five minutes, my dad starts yelling and I hear him, “RENTAL CAR RETURN, LOOK IT UP!!!”. This is when I realize that something is wrong. So I started to help.
My sister still playing on her iPad, we look for rental car returns. I keep asking him which one, but there’s so much yelling going on in the car that he can’t hear me. I could not tell you what the was yelling about. Because of the way LAX was built and how it expanded so quickly, the car returns are 2 miles in a different direction on the freeway, which is why the signs were telling us to go back there.
My mom says she found a way, not on Apple maps though, she just looked on a satellite map. Big mistake, because we get there and there’s a giant concrete barrier blocking our way. At this point, we’re all panicking because the plane leaves in an hour. Finally my dad yells out “Search up Hertz car returns!”. We find it, we drive there, and my dad being a “Gold Member” doesn’t have to do any paperwork when signing off the car. He just leaves the car and its keys, tells us to sprint to the shuttlebus to hold it while he signs off on the car.
We get in the shuttle bus, and my sister starts to cry. She left her new water bottle in the Airbnb. There’s no way in hell we’re going now, so we tell her to suck it up. My parents are completely convinced that we’re missing the flight, my brother is trying to be optimistic, while I am stressing out, trying to figure out a way to get there faster, because the shuttle bus went right back in the six lane hell that we had to go for a half an hour.
We sit in the shuttle bus for 20 minutes waiting, and we finally make it to the first terminal. The way LAX is structured is It’s like a horseshoe. Going from one, curving, then to six or seven. We have to be at terminal six. We’re not gonna make it. There’s 40 minutes left, and it took 20 minutes to get to the first terminal. I’m panicking, thinking, and I realize why can’t we just walk? I told my dad and he says that might just work, because it’s a horseshoe, and terminal seven is closer than terminal four by walking. So we tell the shuttle bus driver to stop the bus and let us off.
We SPRINT to the gate, and it takes us 10 minutes. We get to the desk and the lady there says “What flight?” My dad says Toronto. The lady makes a 😬 face. She says “Put a bag on each scale. I’ll do this, you run.” We all thank her furiously, then run. There’s 30 minutes, and we just got in the building, haven’t even got through security yet. He get to security, and this is LAX, what you would assume to be a VERY busy airport, and the security is completely empty, save or two or three people. We see this, and parents, although they were already sprinting, realize that there really is a chance we could make the flight, so they start to really, really sprint as fast as we could keep up. I’m surprised our legs didn’t come off.
10 minutes before the flight leaves, we get out of security. As we’re all sprinting down the hall, home alone style, I turn around and see that my mom and my sister have vanished, I tell my dad, then sprint back. Turns out they’re in a souvenir shop, getting gifts for mom’s coworkers, and Ella’s teachers. I yell at them, “What the hell are you doing?!?!?! RUN!!!” We get to the gate less than 5 minutes before the plane left. We made it.
We get to our seats, and relax. Everything is going well. Then, about an hour and a half into the flight, my dad hears a loud thump, coming from right in front of him. It’s an overnight flight, so everyone around him is asleep. He looks out to the aisle and sees a pair of legs on the floor… End of Part 1

These are reviews of various dictionaries based on my personal experience (though I kinda ran out of steam halfway through):
Unabridged Dictionaries:
Webster's Third New International Dictionary (W3): Basically the unabridged dictionary in the US. A good dictionary overall, but this dictionary is also heavily outdated. This dictionary was published in 1961 and stopped receiving additions to the Addenda (a section at the front where new words or definitions and usages for old ones could be added) in 2002. The Addenda is a bit inconvenient to use, being separated from the main text. Note that the Addenda is where you'll find all the vulgar four-letter words. As for positives, this dictionary has well-written and comprehensive definitions, the most entries of any physical unabridged dictionary (besides the Oxford English Dictionary), and lovely hand-drawn black-and-white illustrations. It has great coverage of words in every area and field and contains even the most obscure definitions.
One oddity of this dictionary is that nearly every word is shown in lowercase, even if it's always uppercase (though initialisms, trademark, and God are the exception to this rule); a label next to the word indicates how often it is capitalized. This makes for a consistent look, but it's overall inconvenient. The definitions also tend to be a bit wordy; for example, consider the definition of "leaf": "a lateral outgrowth from a stem that constitutes part of the foliage of a plant and functions primarily in food manufacture by photosynthesis, that arises in regular succession from the growing point, that consists typically of a flattened green blade which is joined to the stem by a petiole often with a pair of stipules at its base, which in cross section exhibits an outer covering of epidermal cells penetrated by stomata usually more numerous on the lower surface, which has one or more layers of palisade cells beneath the upper epidermis and between these and the lower epidermis a mass of spongy parenchyma cells, both palisade and spongy tissue being ramified by a network of veins, and that is distinguished from a leaflet, cladophyll, or phylloclade by the presence of a bud at the juncture of petiole and stem and from a phyllode by differentiation into blade and petiole" Comprehensive, but a bit wordy and difficult to comprehend.
This dictionary faced quite a bit of controversy over being "permissive" at the time of its release. This controversy was mostly culture war nonsense, and the dictionary is no less descriptive than its predecessor.
This dictionary also has useful usage guidance and synonymies (discrimination between synonyms). Physically, this book is massive but also quite lovely. Overall, most people do not need an unabridged dictionary, but if you need or want one, this is the one you should get.
Random House Webster's Unabridged Dictionary: I found this dictionary somewhat disappointing. First, the positives: the illustrations are nice and the formatting is acceptable. It's a bit more up-to-date compared to W3 (released in 1987 and updated until 2001); however, it's still fairly outdated. However, this still gives the Random House Webster's an edge when it comes to slang and newer terms. The essay on avoiding insensitive or offensive language is a nice addition. However, the definitions are somewhat weak in comparison to W3. For example, regret is defined by Random House as "a sense of loss, disappointment, dissatisfaction, etc." and by W3 as "sorrow aroused by circumstances beyond one's control or power to repair : grief or pain tinged with disappointment, dissatisfaction, longing, remorse, or comparable emotion." In addition, there aren't nearly as many entries as W3. Overall, a decent dictionary, but the W3 is overall the better package.
College Dictionaries:
Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary: This is the dictionary most people should get. It is abridged from W3 but is more up-to-date, the eleventh edition having last been revised in 2020. Good definitions, nice illustrations, useful usage guidance and discrimination of synonyms. It's not afraid to capitalize entry words like the W3 was. Overall, if you only want to get one physical dictionary, make it this one. It's pretty cheap on Amazon.
Webster's New World College Dictionary: This is the other dictionary most people should get. In comparison to Merriam-Webster's Collegiate, this dictionary also has good definitions and illustrations; the definitions are a bit easier to understand though not quite as precise or comprehensive. It's a bit less descriptive but not by much. Overall, my recommendation is to make this your second dictionary. Best used in conjunction with Merriam-Webster's Collegiate.
American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language: This is a great dictionary. Its strongest strength is its formatting, generous margins, and lovely full-color pictures. Unfortunately, it's no longer in print. Famously, this dictionary contains the usage panel; however, this is more of a drawback than an advantage. The usage advice is subpar compared to other college dictionaries. It also has an appendix containing Indo-European roots (probably its best feature in my eyes). Overall, you can't go wrong with this dictionary even if it's not as good as Merriam-Webster's Collegiate or the New World.
Random House Webster's College Dictionary: An abridgment of Random House Webster's Unabridged Dictionary. All of my criticisms for that dictionary apply here.
Online Dictionaries:
Wiktionary: This dictionary is very up-to-date but the definitions are of varying quality. A very useful feature is the very many foreign words treated here. Also, the section outlining translations of a word into various languages is good. Obscure words are treated here too. Overall, I recommend using this in conjunction with Merriam-Webster Online or Unabridged.
Google Dictionary: This is the dictionary you use if you don't care about dictionaries. The definitions are acceptable. One useful feature is a graph showing the usage of a word over time. However, this offers no usage advice or discrimination of synonyms. Overall, if you don't care at all about the dictionary you use, just use this dictionary.
Merriam-Webster Online: The definitions are the best out of any online dictionary. However, due to Merriam-Webster's standards for inclusion, some more recent words might not be here. This is basically a digital version of Merriam-Webster's Collegiate but more frequently updated.
Merriam-Webster Unabridged: This is basically a digital version of W3 (see my critique of W3 above). It also includes the Collegiate Dictionary, Collegiate Thesaurus, and Medical Dictionary. It solves the main issue of that dictionary which was capitalization of entry headwords and up-to-dateness. Unfortunately, there's a heavy subscription cost though you can get a free one-year subscription at https://www.merriam-webstercollegiate.com/ (though this requires a copy of the Collegiate). This is my overall preferred online dictionary, and I often use it in conjunction with Wiktionary.

I worked in a production house for past two years, they gave me an employee confirmation mail on joining, they never made me sign any proper formal contract (biggest red flag that I should have payed more attention to, they said we'll do it when they'll buy the rights of my movie). I worked for them with utmost sincerity, they always kept stalling my movie saying there's something else in pipeline let the go to the floors first. And today without serving any notice period or anything, the ex employee who now is back in touch the producer texted me over WhatsApp saying I am terminated without giving any reason. When I protested he claimed that they've a good lawyer with the company, if I tried anything they'll claim and take all the rights of my movie that I have written so far without paying me anything. I still have the employee confirmation letter but Am clueless what to do next. [Something I learned from the people who came for meeting with the producer was he is shifting into event management now after failing as a producer and production house, this is the reason he's firing all the in-house writer] On top of all of this I recently told the producer that I am getting a job offer from somewhere almost 2X the salary I am getting here he could have said this then too, and I would have been happier but he assured me things will work here and today just did this. I am clueless what to do next.

So, I know for a fact I am getting fired in the third, it’s a week before my probation is up, my boss has done this to people in the past, and I found the document in a recently printed list. (Literal file called “termination letter for my name”)
So my question is, if I hand him my resignation before he can open his mouth can he still say I was fired?
I’m not concerned about employment insurance and really my biggest concern is that black mark on my resume that says I was terminated.
Edit: I’m in Ontario, Canada and I can survive without EI, I’m just hoping to give him one final fuck you before I go

 | I noticed something on the dmaorg site- that the posts each have different formatting according to 5 "div class" sections. The formatting really isn't that different in each class and it doesn't seem to be connected to the various file types that are posts. What if the moon dates don't order as our actual dates do? And I just realized that this letter is not signed. What if it's a bishop describing recruiting banditos? What if a bishop is realizing he's not so different from them? I haven’t seen him since. Maybe he got away, and was still out in Trench with me. Maybe the bishop chased him down, and brought him home. Home? Did I just call this place home? After all of the endless beauty that I saw out there, am I now convincing myself that I’m actually better off within these confines? I admit, it was more difficult than I expected. Nothing could have prepared me for how much the ‘unknown’ can consume me. Vast landscapes and endless possibilities, yet coupled with endless danger. I became anxious. I became tired. I became hungry. Every step I took became harder than the last, jumping from jagged rocky step to step, or pulling myself through thick forest - it all became debilitating, and I was sure that I couldn’t go on. Keons approached as the sun rose one morning. I wasn’t scared. I was relieved. I am in my original life, why am I available to this control? This whole time I thought I was battling my inner self. Was I actually under assault for something else? someONE else? This small eerie island has made me a weapon. We both believe that we can use it to change the momentum of this war. Now, we must return to the mainland where they should be there to recieve is. Cold concrete encapsulated us and seemed to cast a spill of synthetic calmness. Obedience. We arrived at a blue door. It was an odd contrast to this concrete maze. As I went through the doorway, I found myself in another typical gray Dema room. The only difference was who was waiting for me. Four of them. Three of them were unknown to me, but one was clearly Keons. I knew his voice They proposed an idea. A television show - or whatever it was. I had no idea that I was known outside of my cell, but they informed me that I had garnered notoriety for my schemes and outbursts. They wanted to use my face for the benefit of the city. They handed me a pen - a familiar instrument. Yet, they must be present when I use it. They wanted to manage my imagination and vision. Although shackled, at least I could create again. Thus began the sessions. Everyday my cell door would open. I followed the guard down the familiar hall, through the blue door, to sit down at the desk and chair. My designated creative space - perfectly centered under their watchful eye. Sometimes three, sometimes eight - not once were all nine present. He was never there. I would have felt it if he was. At the end of the session, Keons would take my pen, gather my writings, and send me back. This went on for months. What were we creating? I wasn’t sure. A variety show with songs and set pieces? Were the rulers of this stifled city actually attempting entertainment for its people? Everything I created had to be “for the benefit of the citizens of Dema” a phrase I heard often. I didn’t question them - I was happy to be out of my cell - and putting words to paper. On the final day, I wrote the last line, I was asked to name it? The question caught me off guard. This seemed like a decision they would make. Show Day: They dressed me up and asked me to smile a poor attempt at hiding my sleep deprivation. It was all so colorful, as if compensating for the grayness of the city. It was a blur. Before I knew it, it was over, and I was back in my cell. I can only remember fragments - only blurred hallucinations of color and chaos - like a dream. The confusion of it all hangs overhead. What was it all for? … but it wasn’t over I guess it went well enough for them to request more of me. I was useful to Dema, and my creativity was exploited in new forms - They wanted me to be the entertainment at the Annual Assemblage of the Glorified - a performance at sea for the premiere citizens of Dema. I knew those weren’t the real bishops on that ship. I’ll quicken the entry - I need to keep up with the Torchbearer. During the performance, we were attacked by something in the water. I don’t know what possessed the creature to attack, but it was odd, and felt incredibly intentional. Many lost their lives in the attack, and I was thrashed through the bitter cold waves, yet somehow survived. Did this icy cold preserve me? Why was I spared? I am still so cold as I write. This place feels foreign - nothing like Trench. From the frigid sea, the air here is somehow colder than the water that surrounds it. I have a strange feeling that this island will provide answers. I must go.

When the bishops instituted Vialism as mandate, they effectively reversed the hope that many arrived with. Am I the only one who realizes that we’ve been lied to? Am I the only one not afraid of the notion that the nine have hijacked our trust, and extinguished the hope that once motivated our existence? We used to close our eyes and picture a better life, now this city is full of dry eyes caught in a trance of obedience, devoid of any trace of an identity. The only significant light I’ve seen has been in the eyes of those smeared - such a curious sight, to see bright eyes strangled by the darkness of bishop hands. As their penance fades, so dims their memory of something more. My hope of something more is all I have in this rigid tomb, and I will not let it die.

I'm still trying to understand. This whole time I was sure I was all alone - a single soul in this vast unknown world. But a few days into this trek, I looked down to see a figure headed the same way I was. I was curious enough to follow alongside the path with him. He seemed unaffected by the fear of the unknown - the fear that tends to cripple me. I had heard about them back in Dema, but to my knowledge, the stories were merely myth. Ten, twenty, and then what seemed to be a hundred Banditos appeared upon the cliff, all looking down at him. He only stopped for a moment to look back up at them, and then continued on his way. His energy changed, and I wasn’t sure if he was frightened or encouraged by their ominous presence. They warned him of what was about to come. It was a blur. First seeing the figure, then the Banditos, only to now have my eyes opened to the oncoming Bishop upon a white horse drawing closer in the distance. The figure halted, and waited. When the Bishop stopped, I was sure he looked up, directly at me, so I hid deeper back in a cave. The presence of the robed rider seemed to paralyze the man. He stood still as he was approached, powerless as the outstretched hands smeared his neck. I had never seen a Bishop possess power like this. Keons had always seemed gentle and warm - this Bishop, at least out here, seemed like something else. So I ran, and I’ve been running for as long as my legs and lungs can handle. Maybe this note will be my proof that what I witnessed was not a dream. A million questions race through my brain. Am I not the only one traveling through Trench? I’ll travel a little further, and maybe I’ll get a moment of rest tonight. I may have made a mistake, leaving. This spot, between two places, is beginning to feel like an endless and hopeless abyss. At least Dema is a place that I know, and at times like this, I miss a lot about what I know. This will all be much tougher than I imagined. Nothing out here is familiar. I’ve witnessed the presence of others for the first time today, and I feel more alone than ever. Cover me.

Hello, I am a 3rd year Electrical and Computer Engineering Bachelor student in Tbilisi, Georgia (The country) looking to continue my studies in the field of either Robotics or Mechatronics in the US.
My fields of interest/things I find overwhelmingly cool include: Robotics (In particular I love the Boston Dynamics Robots and the projects that Hacksmith Industries + A lot of other Youtube engineers do), Embedded Systems (I've little to some experience with microcontrollers), I've recently found myself diving into synthesisers and the analog electroncs relevant to them, Computer Vision, ML, overall, anything sci-fi-y/space-y/things that look/sound esoteric to people outside of the field, I am very interested in.
I've only just begun my "Grad Hunt" so forgive my if I sound ignorant on some of the topics and/or get some things wrong.
I'm looking to enrol in a direct PhD course, because as I am told, universities treat direct PhD students as investments, meaning that its much easier financially than enrolling as a terminal master's student.
My dream, of course, as with lots of other people, is MIT. Currently, I'm taking a horizontal approach in researching what to do next:

- UC Berkeley (Robotics and Embedded Software),
- and possibly Dartmouth (ECE) (Reason being one of my main professors graduated from there so his letter of recommendation might have some power) as the top picks.

She said in an online posting that the meeting was called to “discuss how I ‘put others at risk’ and ‘ruined the ceremony’ and ‘offended people’ because a small part of my speech was a tribute towards the grieving mothers in our country.”
Near the end of her shift, however, Jabr was again “dragged” into an office where the hospital’s director of resources, Austin Bender, read her termination letter before she was escorted off the premises by a plainclothes cop, her post said.
In a follow-up post, Jabr took aim at the medical center, lobbing a number of accusations.
In one, she claimed a labor and delivery doctor at the hospital once “pulled [her] aside” in a delivery room as a patient who had just given birth was being stitched up to scold her, allegedly telling her that her people “were the cause of the current bombardment that was happening to them at the time.”
The Post reached out to Jabr by phone and left a voicemail but did not immediately hear back.
NYU Langone spokesman Steve Ritea said in a statement that Jabr was “warned” in December following a “previous incident” and had been admonished “not to bring her views on this divisive and charged issue into the workplace.”

I'm glad I am finally done after 20 years and am on terminal now. I declined a ceremony because of personal reasons and feel quite insulted that all I got was my EOT. I did mention I wanted the swag. No letters from presidents, flag or shadow box. I'm debating bringing it up, but it is such a slap in the face. I will probably end up requesting all the letters and building a shadow box myself. Brotherhood my ass. Just reaffirmed that if you rely on others for help, you'll only be let down.

I just completed my Final Year B.E. CS course last week with CGPA 8.7. I got selected for a company in my hometown through college placements after clearing 4 rounds in last year September. During my College days I was really into Computers. I wanted to get into Security but I know its not entry level so I focused more on Backend things. I was really good at integrating things atleast to me.
Started playing RE CTF and got into a UK team and everything was going well. I am very invested in FOSS and did some public speaking , conducted workshops in my College. I was very active during the time India conducted the Debain Conference at Palakkad. But during placement season only Companies hiring for SDE came. So I learned basic coding and a bit of DSA and got placed very soon.
The HR said they will only onboard after completion of all exams. The final round was with the project developers and we had quite nice conversation and I really liked the environment of the Company. Since its near my hometown and I liked it , I never tried for any other off campus hiring. During that time we were building a home so after I got placed I was here home full time helping my dad.
I go to college only for internals and semester exams. My usage of computers drastically reduced to none because of the work I had at home.We took some loan to complete the construction and my dad asked me to cover the repayment which I agreed. The amount is just half my Salary if I got in, So I thought it wont be a big deal. The HR called me in April asking my availability and CGPA and said I will be onboarded before May.
I waited three weeks after May and enquired the HR to which he said the market condition is so bad so there will be a delay. The construction is almost done. Dad has also borrowed some money from lenders with a little bit higher interest rate. He planned to sell his agriculture plot in his hometown for the reapayment of lender but its getting dealyed too because of the recent floods. Dad's trying hard to come out of debt but nothing is panning out and the interest is piling.
Today morning dad asked me about joining I said "Soon". Dad's counting on me for the repayment of bank loan atleast from next month. I thought of getting a temporary job like delivery or something to ease monetory situation at home but one of my senior advised me to get a job related to my education.
I used to love working with terminals, and I did lot of hosting , backend and integrating stuff like hosting my own PBX with Asterisk back then.I believe tools, language come and go. Its the analytical and problem solving thinking that matters. I think it's something I am good at as an Engineer. So I don't wanna do the fancy resume and applying to dozens of jobs on LinkedIn. I will be worth for any organization if you train me for a role. So if you guys have/know any vacancy for a role that I might fit, do please consider. I am comfortable working anywhere in India.
PS : I have the Offer letter as a soft copy and could share for verification.
TLDR: The Company I got offer delays my onboarding. So I need another job as soon as possible to help repayment of bank loan.

- In her defense, my girlfriend states that she was not yelling but was making a loud sound to get all the children’s attention for lunch. Her boss said that the lunch lady and other teachers heard her yelling, but the teachers in the same classroom as my girlfriend said there was no yelling or anything that might have upset the children. While she admitted to yelling during the first incident of what she received a warning, she insists that this time she did not. It's essentially her word against her boss's, but the teachers in her classroom defend her. She is uncertain if others outside the classroom actually heard her yelling or if it is just her boss's bluff.
- Her boss is known for favoritism and taking advantage of teachers who need working visas, including my girlfriend. My girlfriend is Asian, and many of her coworkers are from India, meaning they need their working visas to stay in Canada. Although my girlfriend hasn't experienced overt unfair treatment directly, she has complained to me about the boss being subtly racist toward non-Canadian teachers, such as not approving holidays without reason and ignoring messages from non-Canadian teachers. Many teachers who aren’t Canadian feel the same way. My girlfriend's closest coworker believes that she should challenge the boss's favoritism to get her job back, as there are teachers willing to back her up. (This might be tricky though, because they will be afraid to lose their job if they defend my girlfriend).
- Despite the situation, my girlfriend is a good teacher. She has strong bonds with the children and parents, who have often complimented her even though she has only worked for five months. When she first started, the center was disorganized, with teachers not engaging with the children. She couldn't let that happen and worked hard to improve the situation, even without much help from her coworkers. Now, with her new coworkers, she has helped make the center organized and well-run, leading the efforts. Her leadership has been acknowledged by the center coordinator, cleaning staff, and parents, though not by her boss, who is rarely present in the room. The boss likely wouldn’t even notice the improvements. Her coworker believes the termination was too sudden and unfair, and at least two or three parents are willing to write letters to the center to support her reinstatement because they recognize she is a good teacher.

Hey all, I want to share some general info that I think will help employees better advocate for themselves. I’m writing all of this out on mobile so I apologize for bad formatting. Additionally, there’s so much information regarding this niche topic and I want to do my best to provide adequate information and resources without being burdensome. I would like to do more posts like this that highlights rights in the workplace, so any comments, suggestions are welcome.
First, OSHA enforces health and safety standards for private industry employees and the US postal service. The information in this post is specific to Federal OSHA regulations. Some states have State OSHA plans with health and safety rules that are at least as effective as federal OSHA rules. In regards to who pays for PPE, this distinction is important as some states don’t have exceptions and require the employer to cover the cost for PPE in all circumstances. To see if the state that you occupy has a state OSHA plan, check out the OSHA page here.
OSHA published its Final Rule on PPE payment requirements in 2007, where it made several clarifications. The publication in its entirety can be found here. The final rule applies to all industries under OSHA (except for agriculture).
General requirements for PPE in general industry (where most private employees fall) are found under 1910.132, linked here, and 1926.28 for construction, lined here.
The employer is required to identify hazards in the workplace and to provide controls to those hazards to protect employees. If the employer determines that PPE is required to control hazards/protect employees, the employer is required to provide that PPE at no cost to the employee (though there are exceptions).
PPE “including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers, shall be provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition wherever it is necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact.” The PPE needs to be adequate in controlling the hazard that it is being used to control, and should be provided in a size that fits the employee.
What does the PPE final rule NOT apply to?
• Uniforms, caps, or other clothing worn solely to identify a person as an employee.
• Items worn to keep employees clean for purposes unrelated to health or safety. Denim coveralls, aprons or other apparel, when worn solely to prevent clothing and/or skin from becoming soiled (dirt).
• Items worn for product safety, consumer safety, or patient safety and health, rather than employee safety and health.
• PPE that is not required by the employer.
Employer is NOT required to pay for: • Non-specialty safety-toe protective footwear (including steel-toe shoes/boots). Specially boots would be those with additional non-slip or electrical protection.
• Non-specialty non-prescription safety eyewear. Specialty safety eyewear would be goggles or glasses rated for laser or welding energy.
• PPE that is permitted to be worn off the job-site.
• Logging boots required by 29 CFR 1910.266(d)(1)(v).
• Everyday clothing, such as long-sleeved shirts, long pants, street shoes, and normal work boots, even when the employer requires employees to use them, and the clothing provides protection. This includes ordinary shoes that are non-slip (those worn in restaurants), even when required by the employer.
• Ordinary clothing, skin creams, or other items, used solely for protection from weather, such as winter coats, jackets, gloves, parkas, rubber boots, hats, raincoats, ordinary sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Exceptions to weather gear payment requirements: • If ordinary weather gear is not sufficient to protect the employee, and special equipment or extraordinary clothing is needed to protect the employee from unusually severe weather conditions, the employer is required to pay for the protection.
• Weather refers to natural conditions, not artificial conditions. So clothing used to protect employees from artificial heat or cold is not included in the exception. Example: freezer warehouse, oil rig in Alaska, firefighting clothing.
If the employer requires employees to keep the following non-specialty items at the workplace, then payment is required: • Safety-toe protective footwear (including non-specialty steel-toe shoes or steel-toe boots).
• Prescription eyeglass inserts for respirator.
• Non-skid safety-toe shoes.
Who pays for PPE when it needs to be replaced? • The employer is required to replace PPE.
• The employer is not required to replace PPE when the employe has lost, stolen, or intentionally damaged the PPE.
Regarding employee-owned PPE: • Where an employee provides adequate PPE that he or she owns, pursuant to paragraph (b) of 1910.132, the employer may allow the employee to use it and is not required to reimburse the employee for that equipment.
• The employer shall not require an employee to provide or pay for his or her own PPE, unless the PPE is excepted by paragraphs (h)(2) through (h)(5) of 1910.132.
• Employee use of own PPE is completely voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time. This means that the employer is still responsible for making sure the PPE is adequate, properly maintained, and sanitary.
• PPE CANNOT BE a condition of employment.
Are reimbursement programs allowable under OSHA? • Yes, reimbursement programs are allowed under the standard. However, those kinds of reimbursement programs should normally not take more than one pay cycle. Bear in mind though, the time to purchase the PPE is not covered as the employer would not be required to pay for the employees time to go and purchase that PPE.

I wanted to share my very recent experience (22 May) of using the 144-hour TWOV route into China. I found information provided by others on Reddit extremely helpful and that information made it all work for me. My routing was Barcelona-London Heathrow-Shanghai on British Airways and I was travelling for business on a British passport. My third country on leaving China was Vietnam (HCMC) on China Southern Airlines. I planned to stay in China for 5 days in total but still inside the 144 hours. In preparation for the trip I printed the following on the advice of others here: - All travel details including ticket and seat confirmations for onward travel and hotel names, addresses, phone numbers for Shanghai and HCMC - Print out in English of the latest Chinese gov TWOV policy which lists Shanghai as a destination - Timatic/IATA screenshots inputted by me of my routing including Vietnam as the destination - not China, and BA as the carrier (more on this in a moment as to how BA may deal with this or not) - Contact details of my company colleagues in Shanghai (multinational company with major presence in China)
I suspected in advance that starting in Barcelona would be an issue due to lack of familiarity with TWOV of the check in staff. I would not have had the same concern if starting at LHR. And so this was indeed the case, so a word of warning for anyone using a non-major hub of a major carrier! Perhaps it is because Spanish nationals have been visa exempt for a while so the process is not well know to airline staff - same probably goes for other EU countries. I had tried in advance to call BA Spain but on mention of the words TWOV they (twice) put the phone down on me after saying it was one for the Chinese embassy (great customer service). I doubt that any airline staff will confirm the option is possible before you buy the ticket. Although the BA app let me check in online and made the boarding passes, this came with a “you must present your travel documents at the airport” caveat.
So I arrived about 30 mins earlier than normal in expectation of a fight and yes, the check in staff started off with “you need a visa”. I explained I was TWOV and showed them Timatic, which generated antibodies. (“we have worked here for a long time” sarcasm). I took it (with my bad Spanish) that they had seen this perhaps a handful of times before but they then spent about 10 minutes putting Shanghai as the destination. I explained that Vietnam had to be the destination. Cue another 10 minutes followed by no, we have to put Shanghai as we are flying you to Shanghai. I was starting to become pretty concerned at this point. I showed them again and let us call her the less sarcastic “good cop” check in agent moved to another terminal and phoned a colleague. Another 10 minutes later the colleague arrived and took over. At this point - magic - the routing worked and I was checked in. Major relief. I arrived at LHR and there was no need to repeat the process as both boarding passes given to me at BCN. I’ve been a loyal BA customer over the years so UK customer service will be hearing about the attitude problems.
On arrival into Shanghai you are presented first with a self-finger print scan (not needed for TWOV) and tables with the wrong (visa entry) landing cards. You have to keep going right up to the desks which are clearly marked 144 hour transit (lots of desks and not much of a queue for me) and the TWOV-specific landing cards are there on the side tables. On the landing card you can select tourism / business etc and I had no problems on selecting business (and was not asked for a letter of invite that colleagues travelling on visas needed to provide).
At the border desk they took a long look at my passport and did my fingerprints at the desk. Another border guard then came to the desk and called me to sit in a waiting area while he went off with my passport. I have a lot of passport stamps (very important for TWOV - NONE FROM TURKEY). Perhaps it was the stamps or because I didn’t make clear the onward seat number on my reservation print out…. but that was another 15 mins of anxious waiting, but eventually he came back with the TWOV sticker, stuck it in my passport and into China I went.
In summary: I would do this again but you’ll need to have strong nerves to handle the unaware check in staff. As I noted, I don’t think there is a way around this as no airline will say the TWOV is OK before booking. You just have to force it at the check-in desk and insist. Happy to answer Qs on this experience!

In preparation for the trip I printed the following on the advice of others here: - All travel details including ticket and seat confirmations for onward travel and hotel names, addresses, phone numbers for Shanghai and HCMC - Print out in English of the latest Chinese gov TWOV policy which lists Shanghai as a destination - Timatic/IATA screenshots inputted by me of my routing including Vietnam as the destination - not China, and BA as the carrier (more on this in a moment as to how BA may deal with this or not) - Contact details of my company colleagues in Shanghai (multinational company with major presence in China)
I suspected in advance that starting in Barcelona would be an issue due to lack of familiarity with TWOV of the check in staff. I would not have had the same concern if starting at LHR. And so this was indeed the case, so a word of warning for anyone using a non-major hub of a major carrier! Perhaps it is because Spanish nationals have been visa exempt for a while so the process is not well know to airline staff - same probably goes for other EU countries. I had tried in advance to call BA Spain but on mention of the words TWOV they (twice) put the phone down on me after saying it was one for the Chinese embassy (great customer service). I doubt that any airline staff will confirm the option is possible before you buy the ticket. Although the BA app let me check in online and made the boarding passes, this came with a “you must present your travel documents at the airport” caveat.
So I arrived about 30 mins earlier than normal in expectation of a fight and yes, the check in staff started off with “you need a visa”. I explained I was TWOV and showed them Timatic, which generated antibodies. (“we have worked here for a long time” sarcasm). I took it (with my bad Spanish) that they had seen this perhaps a handful of times before but they then spent about 10 minutes putting Shanghai as the destination. I explained that Vietnam had to be the destination. Cue another 10 minutes followed by no, we have to put Shanghai as we are flying you to Shanghai. I was starting to become pretty concerned at this point. I showed them again and let us call her the less sarcastic “good cop” check in agent moved to another terminal and phoned a colleague. Another 10 minutes later the colleague arrived and took over. At this point - magic - the routing worked and I was checked in. Major relief. I arrived at LHR and there was no need to repeat the process as both boarding passes given to me at BCN. I’ve been a loyal BA customer over the years so UK customer service will be hearing about the attitude problems.
On arrival into Shanghai you are presented first with a self-finger print scan (not needed for TWOV) and tables with the wrong (visa entry) landing cards. You have to keep going right up to the desks which are clearly marked 144 hour transit (lots of desks and not much of a queue for me) and the TWOV-specific landing cards are there on the side tables. On the landing card you can select tourism / business etc and I had no problems on selecting business (and was not asked for a letter of invite that colleagues travelling on visas needed to provide).
At the border desk they took a long look at my passport and did my fingerprints at the desk. Another border guard then came to the desk and called me to sit in a waiting area while he went off with my passport. I have a lot of passport stamps (very important for TWOV - NONE FROM TURKEY). Perhaps it was the stamps or because I didn’t make clear the onward seat number on my reservation print out…. but that was another 15 mins of anxious waiting, but eventually he came back with the TWOV sticker, stuck it in my passport and into China I went.
In summary: I would do this again but you’ll need to have strong nerves to handle the unaware check in staff. As I noted, I don’t think there is a way around this as no airline will say the TWOV is OK before booking. You just have to force it at the check-in desk and insist.
