Crazytown is not a place. It's a state of mind that exists when one encounters the strange ways of the functional but mentally deranged. It could be in a store, or on the phone, or in the vastness of the internet. But it's never far away.

Details

QUO card and Nippon Rent A Car gift certificate worth 3,000 yen.

Requirements

You wlil get the 3,000 yen Nippon Rent A Car gift certificate by holding 400 shares.
The QUO card amount depends on how many stocks you own and how long you've held them:
400 shares - 2,000 yen worth
4,000 shares:
Less than 2 years of holding - 4,000 yen.
2 or more years of holding - 6,000 yen.
12,000 shares:
Less than 2 years of holding - 6,000 yen.
2 or more years of holding - 8,000 yen.

Comment

Although QUO cards are always easy to use and people who rent cars will find the Nippon Rent A Car certificate valuable, the high share requirements will probably discourage most people who invest for perks. The scaling is so poor for the QUO Card that I wonder why they even bother with the long-term holding bonus. If you really like this company and are going to invest anyway, then these perks are a nice bonus I suppose.

2024.05.17 10:03 AdLivid1889 Dynamic All-Season Investment Strategy!

Dynamic All-Season Investment Strategy!
Hey everyone,
I'm excited to share with you a dynamic twist on the traditional All-Season strategy that I've been working on. Drawing inspiration from the original All-Season approach, which aims to hedge against market downturns and diversify portfolios across economic cycles, I've developed a dynamic model that adds some flexibility to the mix. Momentum is the key to this model.
Before I dive in, I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this approach.
Original All-Season Model:
  • SPY (30%)
  • TLT (40%)
  • IEF (15%)
  • PDBC (7.5%)
  • GLD (7.5%)
Dynamic All-Season Strategy:
1. Included Assets:
  • Offensive Assets: QQQ (Nasdaq 100), VWO (EM Equities), IEF (US Mid-Term Bonds), TLT (US Long-Term Bonds), PDBC (Commodities), VNQ (US Real Estate)
  • Defensive Asset: BIL (US Short Term Bonds)
  • Canary Asset: TIP (Treasury Inflation Protected)
In this updated model, I've replaced SPY with QQQ and VWO to enhance equity diversification while maintaining exposure to asset classes with low correlation across economic cycles. The addition of a Canary Asset like TIP might seem unconventional, but it serves to mitigate tail risks effectively.
2. Strategy Rule: Invest in offensive assets when the momentum value of the canary asset TIP is positive, and in defensive assets when it's negative. For offensive assets, select the top 3 assets with the highest momentum scores among the six offensive assets, while removing those with negative momentum scores. For defensive assets, invest 100% in BIL.
The rationale behind using different lookback periods for relative and absolute momentum is to capture both the longer-term trends of offensive assets during market upswings and the shorter-term market downturns effectively.
This strategy is straightforward, relying on a canary asset to guide investment decisions between offensive and defensive assets, with a dual momentum approach for offensive assets and a single asset approach for defensive assets.

2024.05.17 09:45 Dranoopjhurani The Benefits of Robotic-Assisted Knee Replacement Surgery

The Benefits of Robotic-Assisted Knee Replacement Surgery
The field of orthopedic surgery has seen significant advancements over the years, with robotic technology revolutionizing knee replacement procedures. Traditional manual techniques are being replaced by highly precise robotic-assisted surgeries, offering unparalleled accuracy and improved patient outcomes. Dr. Anoop Jhurani, Director of Hip & Knee Replacement Services at Fortis Hospital in Jaipur, has been at the forefront of this transformation, introducing the first robotic total knee joint replacements in Rajasthan and Central India.
The Rise of Robotic Knee Replacement
Robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery has become increasingly popular worldwide due to its precision and effectiveness. This technology has been used for knee replacements for several years, gradually phasing out manual techniques. Dr. Anoop Jhurani, with over 12,000 hip and knee replacements to his credit, has been serving patients in Rajasthan for the last 15 years, providing the best possible outcomes in robotic partial and total knee replacements.
What is the Procedure for a Partial Knee Replacement?
Partial knee replacement is a sophisticated procedure that replaces only the damaged part of the knee joint, preserving as much of the natural knee as possible. Here’s a step-by-step overview of the process:
1. Preoperative Planning: A detailed examination of the patient’s knee anatomy is conducted before the surgery. This allows the surgeon to customize the implant to the patient’s unique anatomy, ensuring a perfect fit.
2. Placement of Trackers: Small metal pins, known as trackers or arrays, are fitted to the leg. These trackers provide real-time data to the robotic system about the leg's position and movement.
3. Bone Structure Examination: The patient’s bone structure and anatomy are carefully analyzed. Positions are defined to match the joint to a preoperative CT image.
4. Ligament Tension Assessment: The knee is put through a series of maneuvers to assess ligament tension. This helps in recording the contact points between components and observing the knee’s mobility.
5. Surgical Planning and Execution: The final surgical plan is presented, highlighting the bone to be removed. The robotic arm ensures precision by preventing the surgeon from moving outside the predefined plan.
Benefits of Robotic-Assisted Partial Knee Replacement
1. Increased Precision: Robotic technology allows orthopedic surgeons to target the damaged parts of the knee with exceptional accuracy, leaving healthy bone and tissue intact.
2. Faster Recovery: The minimally invasive nature of robotic surgery results in smaller incisions and less disruption to surrounding tissues. Patients experience less postoperative pain and quicker recovery times, allowing them to resume normal activities sooner.
3. Improved Outcomes: The precise placement of implants leads to better alignment and function of the knee joint, reducing the likelihood of complications and the need for revision surgery.
Conclusion
Robotic knee replacement surgery represents a significant advancement in orthopedic surgery, offering patients improved precision, faster recovery, and better overall outcomes. Dr. Anoop Jhurani’s pioneering work in this field has brought world-class knee replacement solutions to patients in Rajasthan and Central India. If you are considering knee replacement surgery, consulting with Dr. Jhurani can provide you with the expertise and advanced care necessary for a successful and life-enhancing procedure.

2024.05.17 09:43 Used_Big4499 What you will do in my position I am 26 with $10k?

I come from a small country at 18 I've been in sales door-to-door and phone sales I've had 12 employers, and after 2 years everything changed.
Later I started with website developing WordPress businesses to the same principle calling Google Maps companies.
At that time I met a client and started helping them look for new clients for their cleaning company business with +100 employees and also started with real estate I still knew and hadn't signed any contract I just had a verbal agreement for a deal that 50% of profit after sell and rent will be mine.
We built a hostel, I started making marketing for our business, we started with handmade clay buttons for luck, and employed the disabled people I got a deal to start selling in a store. Then COVID came and destroyed the business.
I've found the office, negotiated for price, and found the constructors to renovate the place.
Then we bought another place as well for 49.000€ 35m2 but prices in my country are absurd nowadays, especially for the location.
I've started managing the booking and have been done a few times in a row Airbnb superhost.
2 years ago everything changed…My business partner fell into a coma after 1 month he woke up and survived but when he woke up he forgot everything, his wife hates me because we spent much time growing the business. Before she wanted a divorce and he built her a new house just to leave him alone.
After that day I lost the apartment, 5.000-15.000€ on rent hostel and Airbnb every month, 400.000€ with selling renovated places and much more I lost my best friend.
My immune system crashed I've got food intolerance on nearly everything I've got rashes on my skin.
All the money I've had I spent on doctors, acupuncture, etc… now it's better but it still has not completely disappeared.
After a year I opened a new company for selling silver jewelry but the market in my country was too small and couldn't sell enough.
Website businesses stopped working, small businesses stopped investing in marketing.
Then I decided to go and leave my country now I found a job as a waiter on a luxury cruise ship on the way to the US I had a B1/B2 (I can open a company or look for a job) visa for 10 years.
I plan to stay in the US but where should I start?
What you will do in my position I am 26 with $10k?
  1. Selling again (phones, door to door, cars…
  2. Marketing helps business to grow their business (I've helped many to grow their business)
  3. WordPress, Shopify websites
  4. Learn new skills (plumbing, carpenter)
  5. Resell items on eBay
  6. I have also a hypnosis certificate

2024.05.17 09:33 catloverr03 News about rent increase

So I stumbled upon this news in facebook claiming that there might be rent increase
"Rent in rental houses is continuously rising.
This is another piece of bad news for all of us who are renting here in Japan, as apartment and mansion owners are reportedly raising the rent now.
Some of us may have already received a notice from their landlord or real estate agent about the changes in rental fees starting in the coming months.
According to the owners, they have no choice but to increase the rent because the cost of repair works and maintenance of their properties is also rising.
I think this is normal because as the prices of food and utilities (electricity and gas) go up, housing will also inevitably increase since it's a basic need for people.
If the rent for your house suddenly increases significantly (by 20,000 to 30,000 yen), I think it's better to consider moving, as your budget might not be able to handle it since wages aren't increasing much at the moment.”
What do you guys think? 😭

2024.05.17 09:27 TheBeefiestSquatch Looking for advice on my next lens (RF)

So, about a month ago I posted on here asking about potential vertical grips on R10 because I thought I settled on that as my first SLR since I was shooting film in college around the turn of the century, and was really disappointed to find out it didn't exist. Did more research, and then the May instant rebates hit and I wound up pulling the trigger on a R6 mark II instead. My current stuff:
R6 mark II
RF 24-105 f/4
RF 14-35 f/4
A few accessories like backpack, sling, tripod, BG-10 vertical grip and EL-5 flash.
My main deal with photography is doing product photography for my woodshop of furniture I build/sell and I'm friends with a couple realtors and they said I should get into real estate photography on the side, so the 14-35 has me covered on everything I will use to make some extra money right now. Outside of that stuff, I really enjoy landscape/cityscapes. Wildlife would be fun, but I don't think I'm going to drop $10k-$20k on any lenses anytime soon. So, no lenses I'm purchasing in the near future are anything I would consider a need.
I recently rented both the 100 2.8 macro (honestly, macro photography not my jam) and the 70-200 2.8 a few days after that and had a blast at the horse races and a few other things...hell of a lens. I lusted after the original way back in the day and it was nice to finally use one.
I'm probably picking up the 85 f/2 this week (even though macro is not my thing) for some portrait stuff because after showing some of the stuff I've done recently I've had a couple people ask about it and from what I see online the youtubers seem to proclaim it as "good enough" vs. the 1.2 as long as you're not shooting video with it, which I won't be. I also have no interest in shooting any weddings. Did some of that back in the day and have flashbacks like I was in 'nam every time I drive past a fancy church or banquet hall.
After that, though, is when things get dicey. Unless I win the mega millions Friday night, I've got my choices narrowed down to 135 f/1.8 and the 70-200 f/2.8. I read/hear good things about the 135 f/1.8 and I want it bad, but it seems to be for one thing and one thing only. Is the right call the 70-200 f/2.8? Either way, this is a decision that's probably a couple months away, but it never hurts to prepare and know what you're saving for, you know?

2024.05.17 09:25 Hades_Kerbex22 [P] Real Time Emotion Classification with FER-2013 dataset

So I am doing an internship project at a company that is as the title says.I basically need to classify human faces into 7 categories- Anger, disgust, happy, etc. Currently I'm trying to achieve good accuracy on FER 2013 dataset then I'll move to the Real Time capture part
I need to finish this project in like 2 weeks' time. I have tried transfer learning with models like mobile_net, VGG19, ResNet50, Inception, Efficient_net and my training accuracy has reached to like 87% but validation accuracy is pretty low ~56% (MAJOR overfitting, ik).
Can the smart folks here help me out with some suggestions on how to better perform transfer learning, whether I should use data augmentation or not( I have around 28000 training images), and about should I use vision transformer, etc. ?
with VGG19 and Inception , for some reason my validation accuracy gets stuck at 24.71% and doesn't change after it
ResNet50, mobile_net and Efficient_net are giving the metrics as stated above
This is a sample notebook I've been using for transfer learning https://colab.research.google.com/drive/1DeJzEs7imQy4lItWA11bFB4mSdZ95YgN?usp=sharing
Any and all help is appreciated!

2024.05.17 09:21 Carpet_Redd214 2 steps ruined the next 6 months of my life

2 steps ruined the next 6 months of my life
I haven’t been able to find a similar story so I’m sharing for anyone who in the future does, or for anyone who has suggestions and comments. on the job injury, workers comp involved
4/23 I had on chest high waders walking through waist deep water in a bayou collecting samples. Long story short, I tripped and fell, sliced my knee from side to side, down to the bone I would later find out, on an unknown object under water. I could not bear any weight on my left knee at this point and I could feel the warmth from it bleeding. Fast forward over first aid and transport..(Nightmare) Hospital performed an x-ray, flushed it out (OUCH), sutured approx 15 internal and surface stitches and told me I possibly cut the patellar tendon. I could not move or raise my leg still. They wrapped it up sent me home with crutches and told me to see a specialist asap. No pain medicine.. gosh that was rough! And ER doctors aren’t the nicest.
Between the 24th and May 8th, I traveled back home, found a doctor, had an initial visit with a general doctor and then an orthopedic doctor. An MRI was taken, and pain medication prescribed. thank god! The MRI results showed a 90% to near complete rupture of the patellar tendon, more like completely severed, and an acute fracture somewhere, can’t remember the exact terminology. Surgery is/was the only option for repair.
May 8th surgery day- Surgeon reused the same laceration for repair. He mentioned it was a clean cut and whatever was under water was SHARP. I Was sent home with a brace with 60% extension. No weight bearing for 2 weeks or until follow up, and to not use my quad muscle as much as possible. Oh and I was able to bonus an ice water machine. Game changer for sure!
I am about 8 days post surgery and the pain has been real! But the boredom, confinement, and lack of independence has been even more challenging! Tough actually. I’m normally a physically active person with a physically demanding job, so all this down time has been tough. The pain medicine makes me itch like crazy and drowsy so I don’t like taking them. BUT the pain really catches up if I don’t take them. I’m in this constant battle of do I wanna be groggy and snooze all day or be awake and suffer though the pain.
Questions I have: will I heal similar to a tear? Is my type of injury worse or better in terms of healing and long term health? Does anyone else have muscle spasms I their quad, mine ache like crazy? What about recovery.. when can I sit in a chair normally again?!!!! Any recommendations oh how to work from home on a computer when I can’t bend my knee to sit down??
Any suggestions, comments, or fun stories are appreciated!

Understanding Corrosion in Infrastructure

Corrosion is a natural process that occurs when metals react with their environment, leading to deterioration and loss of structural integrity in infrastructure. In the UAE, where infrastructure is exposed to corrosive elements such as moisture, salt, and pollutants, corrosion poses a particularly severe threat. Common types of corrosion encountered in UAE infrastructure include uniform corrosion, pitting corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Understanding the mechanisms and factors contributing to corrosion is essential for developing effective prevention and mitigation strategies.
Services Offered by Corrosion Testing Labs
Corrosion testing labs in the UAE offer a range of specialized services to assess corrosion risks and ensure the safety of infrastructure assets.
Corrosion Risk Assessment
Corrosion testing labs conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential corrosion threats to infrastructure. These assessments take into account factors such as environmental conditions, material properties, and operational factors to determine the likelihood and severity of corrosion-related issues. By identifying high-risk areas, infrastructure owners can prioritize preventive measures and allocate resources effectively.
Material Testing and Analysis
Material testing and analysis are essential components of corrosion testing. Labs use advanced techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and spectroscopy to examine the composition and microstructure of materials. This allows for the early detection of corrosion damage and helps assess the effectiveness of corrosion-resistant materials and coatings.
Coating Evaluation
Protective coatings play a critical role in preventing corrosion by providing a barrier between the metal substrate and the corrosive environment. Corrosion testing labs evaluate the performance of coatings through various tests, including salt spray testing, adhesion testing, and accelerated weathering tests. These evaluations help determine the durability and effectiveness of coatings in UAE-specific environmental conditions.
Environmental Simulation Testing
Environmental simulation testing involves subjecting infrastructure samples to simulated environmental conditions to assess their corrosion resistance. Tests such as salt spray testing, immersion testing, and cyclic corrosion testing simulate real-world exposure conditions, allowing for the evaluation of materials and coatings under controlled laboratory conditions. This enables infrastructure owners to identify vulnerabilities and optimize corrosion prevention strategies.
Case Studies: Success Stories
Real-world examples highlight the importance of corrosion testing labs in ensuring the safety and reliability of infrastructure in the UAE.
Example 1: Preventing Corrosion-Related Failures in Bridges
A government agency responsible for bridge maintenance in the UAE partnered with a corrosion testing lab to assess the corrosion risk of aging bridge structures. Through comprehensive material testing and analysis, the lab identified corrosion hotspots and recommended targeted maintenance and repair strategies. This proactive approach helped prevent corrosion-related failures and ensure the continued safety of the bridges for years to come.
Example 2: Extending the Lifespan of Marine Structures
A maritime engineering firm engaged a corrosion testing lab to evaluate the corrosion resistance of steel piles used in marine structures. By conducting environmental simulation tests and coating evaluations, the lab identified optimal coating systems and maintenance practices to enhance the durability of the piles. This resulted in significant cost savings and extended the lifespan of the marine structures, ensuring their safety and reliability in harsh marine environments.
Conclusion
Corrosion testing labs in the UAE play a vital role in ensuring the safety and longevity of infrastructure assets in the face of corrosion challenges. By providing comprehensive testing and analysis services, these labs help infrastructure owners identify corrosion risks, implement preventive measures, and optimize maintenance strategies. As infrastructure development continues to accelerate in the UAE, the importance of corrosion testing labs in safeguarding infrastructure safety will only grow, ensuring sustainable growth and development for generations to come.
