2024.05.17 08:39 chchchucky2121 my 24m girlfriend 23f thinks i’m only with her for her looks?

my girlfriend and i have been together for almost 5 years now and i have plans to propose next month when we go to greece for my grandpa’s birthday. i have never loved anyone the way that i love her, she’s the best person i know. i personally think she’s the most beautiful girl in the world but that seems to be the problem. for a small backstory she’s always had a toxic relationship with her mom, at least as long as i’ve known her. her mom seems like the type of mom that’s jealous of her daughter which is super weird to me. the first time we visited was christmas break during her freshman year of college and her mom made a lot of backhanded comments towards her. like “this is the kid who stole my beauty” and “i hope you have a backup plan for when school doesn’t work out. try taking up modeling.” (my girlfriend graduated summa cum laude, maintained a 3.9 gpa throughout college and is on track to do the same in grad school.) we don’t visit her mom often and we both kinda shrug off her comments when we do but i didn’t know they held so much weight for her. i recently started a new job for a marketing company after graduating from grad school. they had a social night for the incoming grad school new hires and we both attended the event. i introduced myself to my new colleagues and said “and this is my beautiful girlfriend, x” which she kinda smiled shyly but after that she was distant. we stayed for maybe an hour afterwards and the drive home was silent. when we got home she immediately broke down in tears and asked me why do i love her. i was confused and caught off guard with the question and failed to find an answer before she said “exactly” and went back to her apartment. she sent a series of long text messages explaining how much she hates when i say how beautiful i think she is and that she wishes that i would talk about her qualities without mentioning her looks. before i could respond, she turned off her phone. i went to her apartment, she wouldn’t answer the door. i’ve been sitting outside of her apartment for 4 hours. i sent a text message telling her that she’s so much more than her looks. she’s incredibly smart, she’s kind and gentle. she’s extremely funny. she talented in so many ways. she’s an excellent dog mom and just genuinely a good person. she has all of the best qualities in a person that you could find. i just don’t know how to show her that she’s so much more than her beauty. especially when she won’t talk to me.

2024.05.17 08:26 tanya_rp F4M: Shy and coward Tanya's life after moving out to different city.

Tanya was a very shy and coward girl. She always used to hide behind her parents. Her parents raised her with utmost care and love. This made her very timid. She couldn't say no to anyone if they ask anything from her. She has given so much money to scammers, just because she was afraid to argue with them. But, life wasn't difficult for her, as her parents used to do everything for her.
Tanya being bright student, went on to clear the engineering entrance exam very easily and got into a reputed college easily. But, unfortunately it was in a different city. Her parents thought, it would be good for her to be independent and more brave. So they get her admitted to the college and drop off her at hostel.
--few weeks later ---
The rainy friday evening of the city has made the mood extremely romantic. The scene shifts from the rainy mountains to the farm house in that area. As the scene zooms in, a loud yet pleasing moaning sound is heard from the farm house. The scene shits to the inside of farm house and it pans on the stairs and the upstairs is in focus. The scene then begins at the beginning of the bedroom door where the moaning sound is becoming more prominent. As the scene begins inside the room the t shirt of the guy is lying. The yellow thin transparent saree of a girl is lying spread across the room. The pant of guy is lying on the saree , with blouse which is torn is lying across the pant. Her bra is found to be hanging on the bed side lamp. Her petticoat which is at the bed stand is the final piece of her clothing on the ground. Her torn panty is no where to be found.
On top of bed, lies the shy Tanya with her legs spread as much as possible to accomodate her dusky senior who is sweating heavily pounding the Virgin beauty. Her soft palms with fingers is gripping his muscular back....
Discord: tanyarp
Hmu if you like to play the dusky guy with the below details.
1) your links 2) asl 3) reference pic for my character as described in the plot 4) I am looking for roleplaying. So, I expect atleast little bit of buildup and not directly into sexting. So, if you are looking for quick ending, this might not be for you
Have a great day everyone!

2024.05.17 07:50 Sad-Entrepreneur-563 why white supremacy still exists...

its not because white people are consciously fluffing themselves up in the media/insitutions. look at the media and institutions, they are downplaying themselves and talking about white privilege and giving positive discrimination to muslims. its COMPLETELY not politically correct in the US to look down on arabs or latinos or whatever. but unfortunately the only impact their self deprcation has is it looks like a beautiful person saying that theyre 'not that great'. people throughout the world while blindly consuming their self deprecating media still see white people as superior. so only their media's portrayals of OTHER cultures influence everyone. like india, russia, china.
the race consciousness that started with scientific racism and nazism spread all over the world and the anachronistic hierarchy still remains in peoples minds worldwide. this mixed with the US and West then becoming the most powerful leaders right after that, (NOT only due to colonialism but their own wiles), leaders of the modern world, highly developed and therefore have tons of soft power. they DID become superior. their 'inherent' superiority never got truly questioned.
when it comes down to it the problem is the West being the most powerful country and tries to retain its power. white privilege AND their own progressivism is a tool. at a geopolitics level if something REALLY doesnt benefit them theyll use any tool in their arsenal including american exceptionalism and neo-colonialist attitudes DISGUISNG them behind 'progressive values' or other to make them more digestible. and no one will even know it at the time. this is great to get faux progressives who use politics as a shortcut to appearing moral on their side (which is most of the US progressives). like the iraq war, gadaffi assassination, and numerous regime change wars which may use colonial era divides to destabilize the country. the political left and people in the US and even outside are too sensitive to them proclaiming superiority even if they believe in it. they need social acceptance of their propaganda about other countries (so ideally those who are not yet shielded by US history's social 'progressivism').
countries that see are submissive, cooperate with colonial mentalities, are sellouts or demonize themselves are easy targets. hence the United States will make sure the 'progressive' treatment of THESE groups doesn't go further than colonial times when it fits their need. thats how some neocolonial entities in the US got their foot in the door since indias independence, because of Indian sell outs. they dont care if they're using colonial divides to further destabilize the country, whether they patenting indigenous medicines, or that the head of indology studies is in the US and any indigenous study is stonewalled. fighting against neocolonialism (ie foreign interference) in INDIA'S case is banned and pathologized. for no other reason that its socially acceptable AND its beneficial to their interests they go full neocolonial and use their whiteness to make themselves appealing in others eyes as an authority to Indians and others. hence indians are lumped in as oppressors with white people (the US using 'progressivism' and their exemplary 'morality' as a weapon), despite having 0 privilege. hindus who were demonized and degraded during british rule are continuously given one-sided media coverage by presenting it as 'progressivism' and anti-nationalism. this is why india is the only developing shithole that gets continuously nitpicked for the slightest display of nationalim and their own cultural identity (degraded during colonialism). the US is punching down in the worst way, on a country that was made to feel inferior and using the EXACT frameworks that were used during colonialism, including pathologizng the idea that we don't like 'white-skinned' people giving us our culture. because indians go along with it...BECAUSE theyre still colonized. the United States has no morals. they get away with it because they found a loophole for their propaganda using 'progressive values'
TRULY colonized cultures will never benefit from the united states progressivism. the "right" and "left" opportunistically team up whenever it comes to demonizing us. they will use peoples racist ideas of indians, and use neoclonialism (still existing colonial divides) to fund conflict within india.

2024.05.17 07:27 This-Influence-4523 my opinion of billie’s album

  1. Skinny
i think this is a really beautiful song to gain intro into the next few songs, this is very sad but it’s truly beautiful i feel like this is a story that goes hand in hand with everyone in the world it could happen to anyone and i think it’s truly beautiful. she’s real she’s herself no matter what society sees her as, and crying is truly a caring form of feelings. i love this song bc of how melodic it is and it’s sad but it gets there. am i acting my age now? does it matter what we do whatever age anyone is? why are we judged. why is everything we do feeding people…remorseful? loving. i really like the strings in there with no voice it’s truly beautiful and sounds so dramatic like it’s sharing her feelings she has for the story she’s explaining.
the transition was so beautiful it went from sad to so upbeat horny?
  1. Lunch
this is just yes. this is how every wlw relationship feels like.
these transitions are really beautiful
  1. Chihiro
sounds groovy. open up the door fr. sounds like a story as well, it sounds like something common that people go through, maybe hurt? it sounds very emotional i like it, i like when she goes into the different voice effects and there’s echos it sounds very good i feel like this would be a really good song to listen too while faded. the pause to from meeee was so fucking good. and then it goes back to her regular voice sounds very good. her voice is soft but it’s clear. sounds like a story i’ve been through before it’s something that definitely happens it sounds so real. familiar? nostalgia? idk. ALL SHE WANTS IS FOR YOU TO OPEN THE DOOR RAGH. i like the last bit with the male voice it sounds like lofi 80’s arcade vibe giving me nostalgia to undertale! it sounds really nice though with modern and the older sounds.
  1. BIRDS OF A FEATHER
this has to become a classic love song. i want my girl to stay until im in the grave that’s so beautiful. it’s such a wholesome love song pleaseeee id put this on a mixtape for a girl i like. i’d love you till the day that id die is so real. that’s so beautiful. so emotional. truly so mesmerizing. i like the beat it sounds cool. devoting to someone a truly expressive feeling. ITS SO EMOTIONAL THE BILLIE QUIETLY SCREAMING I LOVE IT. I SENT IT TOO MY GIRL.
  1. WILDFLOWER
guitar is a good choice. very wise words. errrm sounds a little too close to home. GOD IT HURTS. this sounds like something i’ve dreamed before. i’m sobbing now welp. this is absolutely beautiful, and i feel like drowning. this is so beautiful this is so tragic but beautiful. god.nit sounds like someone is trying to talk too me. hurtful b hurtful love it tho.
  2. THE GREATEST
i love the ukulele oh my gosh absolutely amazing. she sounds like she truly cares about whoever she talks about. i feel like this emotion she’s describing i know exactly what she’s talking about. it’s sad but it’s beautiful man. maybe flashbacks to graduation era? hmm interesting. oop- it sounds strained, there’s a tear in her heart? sounds like she was trying to say fuuuu then fight 😭. this one is insanely beautiful. i love her voice. and her devotion to this character it’s something everyone can relate too. that’s gonna sound beautiful in concert the screaming is gonna be so beautiful. her voice sounds so powerful. added to my sad playlist fr damnn that’s powerful id scream this at the top of my lungs.
i like the transition it’s smooth
7. LAMOUR DE MANVIE
damn real billie real. me fucking too billie me too, that’s all. i like it. my stomach hurts too. it’s hard to leave that but doing it is one of the greatest feelings i’d cry if i saw this in concert.
the transition oh my god from bawling sad to revenge era hello! THATS HOT IN THE SAME SONG DAMN FR REAL SHIT BROTHER
so glad it’s over yuh get it billie stomp them into the ground i hope whoever hurt you is bawling on the floor rn
8. the diner
yes.
9. bittersuite
it’s okay bear was kinda jumping on me during this but i like the paranoia part it’s cutesy
10. Blue
it’s groovy not the birds of the feather reference that’s so good omg this is nice the soft part is so beautiful 🥹real. real asf the middle sounds like me being paranoid lowkey the voice is so cool it’s robotic a bit.

Characters personality: you're a good and kind doctor, a bit funny sometimes and with a light-hearted personality.
Begins script:
FEEL FREE TO ADD AS MANY FX AS YOU'D LIKE
(You're ending a consultation) Ok, so just take the pills, and stay off those flowers ok?
(Funny) I know, you wanted to surprise your wife, but next time.....maybe a box of chocolates? (Giggle)
Alright... Take care.
[Door closes]
[Keyboard]
(Thinking out loud) Alright.... This goes here and ...perfect, that note is done.
(Asking your assitant) Anna?................ Send in my next patient please. Thank you.
Umm..how many more do I have for today?
(Rethoric) 2 more including this one?
(Tired) Great, I'm so tired.
Thanks Anna.
[Door closes]
(Ugh mocking) (Sigh) Today's been such a slow day...I mean, who on earth buys a huge bouquet of roses when they have such a strong pollen allergy... seriously (giggle)
[Door knock]
Come in....
(Soon as your new patient arrives you're blown away by her beauty)
(Professionally nice but blown away) Hello, I'm Dr (insert asmrtist name) and you are...?
(Reverb thoughts) Wow she's so beautiful...
(Reverb pep talk) Can it (insert asmrtist name) she's a patient you can't afford to think like that. Be professional!
(End of reverb)
(Coming back to reality) Oh umm...pleased to meet you.
Take a seat please.
[For the whole interview question part you can add a soothing keyboard sound on the back if you'd like, like you're taking notes]
(Professionally nice) So...tell me, What brings you here today?
(Rethoric) Oh, so you got a new health insurance and they gave you a free checkup at this hospital?
(Nice) Ok. yeah, it's always good to get a checkup every once in a while.
Which health insurance company did you hire?
Yeah, their health plan is very complete.
Do you have any current symptoms of any kind?
(Rethoric) Small seasonal allergy?
(Giggling) Yeah, that's very common this days, tell me about it (giggle)
Any medication you're taking for it?
(Sounds logical) Oh, that's the standard.
Any other medications?
(Rethoric) Occasional aspirin for a headache?
Ok.. that's fine.
Any relevant medical history?
(Rethoric) You got your appendix out when you were 12? Ok...
And..no chronic diseases?
Glad to hear.
Diseases in the family? Cancer, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, anything relevant?
(Rethoric) Oh, your grandpa died from colon cancer 2 years ago?
(Sorry) Oh, sorry to hear.
And...how old are you?
(Giggle) I know, as a man it's never easy to ask that question, but as doctor I have to.
When was the last time you went to the doctor?
(Shocked) 2 years ago?!?!
Remember it's always good to see the doctor once a year. So I'm glad you're here now. (Seeth smile)
(Starting the physical examination) (End keyboard sounds)
(Always be calm, you want to inspire confidence to the listenepatient that there's nothing to worry about)
(Professionally nice) Alright. So I would like to start by assessing your vitals. I'm gonna check your pulse and then take your blood pressure...is that ok?
Alright... Just gonna get a feel here in your wrist...
(Wait a sec)
80... You're pulse is fine
If you would lend me your arm please, just gonna wrap the pressure cuff around.....
Alright...just relax.....you may feel some pressure while I take the measurement.
[Pressure cuff sound inflate and deflate]
75/110...
(Rethoric) Low?....
(Confident) Not really... it's said 80/120 is the standard, but it really depends on the patient, medical history, the height, the weight....so for you 75/110 is fine.
I'm gonna take a listen to your heart now. Ok?
Gonna warm up the stethoscope with my hands before I start ..
(Funny nice) You know, there's nothing meaner than a cold stethoscope (giggle). So I try to avoid that with my patients.
Alright, Just breath normally..
(Listening attentively) mmm....ok....
Could you squeeze both your hands really tight for me?, I'm gonna take another listen.
(You keep listening) mmm
Ok, relax...
Everything sounds normal.
Now I'm gonna listen to your lungs ok?
(Do not breath along you're listening) Take a deep breath for me...in ..........and out.......
Once more please...in......and out ....
Again.....in.......and out....
Last one.....in.....aaand out ....
Alright...it all sounds fine there.
Now, I'd like you lay down in the examination table so I can assess your abdomen ok?..
Alright.
There we go.
Now, I'm gonna lift up your shirt slightly, is that ok?
Ok ..
You said you haven't had any recent abdominal symptoms right?
Ok.
I'm gonna take a listen to your abdomen then..
Now, it may take some time for vowel sounds to appear, but that's normal, so you have nothing to worry about.
(Wait a few sec)
Ok, everything sounds fine.
Now I'm gonna do some percussion, this mainly requires me tapping around your abdomen to asses dullness ok?
Alright.
[You may include the abdominal percussion sounds if you'd like]
(Thinking aloud) (Something sounds a bit off but you don't wanna raise any alarms) Hmm...
Ok..
Now I'd like to palpate around your abdomen to check everything is fine...is that ok?
Ok..... Gonna start pressing here on the top center, any pain there?...people with reflux or heart burn tend to have pain around that area...
Nothing? Good.
Now pressing here on the right side...no pain?
Good.
Any pain or tenderness here on the lower area?....no?..good
Now pressing here on the left side.
(You feel a small-medium mass like 2 in big on that area and get concerned)
(Concerned) Hmmmmm.....hmmmm....
(Concerned) Any pain when I press here?
(Rethoric concerned) No?
Hmmm..
I'm gonna press a little deeper...
(Concerned) No pain when I press deeper?
Hmmmm
(Rethoric) What's wrong?
(Talking while feeling around) I'm feeling something here....
Feels like a small mass, a bit hard....
(Thinking out loud) It feels a bit irregular..hmmm
If you have any discomfort I need you to tell me please..
(She starts to stress and hyperventilate)
(Comforting) Hey hey hey, easy ok?
We don't know yet what it is... It may aswell be something simple.
Easy, I need you to calm down...
You're breathing to fast and that's gonna make you dizzy....
Deep breaths.....breath with me...in.....and out......in.....and out .....
That's it.....
(Professional) I'm gonna palpate one more time, I need you to stay calm please.
(Thinking out loud) Hmmmmm...ok.
Let's get back to the desk so we can discuss the next step.
(Wait a sec)
(Back at the desk)
(Calming her) Now I'd like to get you an ultrasound...
(She panics) Don't panic .. it's a painless procedure... And from there we'll know what's next ok?
(Rethoric) What could it be?
I don't want to jump into conclusions yet.
(Nice comforting worried) Just try to stay calm please.
Let me write you a prescription...
(Reverb thoughts concerned) I'm really worried about her...I do not like at all how that mass feels.
(Reverb feeling sorry for her) She looks so worried and no wonder....
(Reverb) Maybe I could get her that ultrasound after my last patient... I'm so tired though....I was supposed to go home and relax a bit. But poor lady..
(Rethoric) (Seeth) Curse your oversized heart (insert asmrtist name), ugh! Alright....
(End of Reverb)
(Thinking) Ummmm....
(Being nice) Look, I have only one more patient after you... If you'd like to wait... I could take you to the ultrasound room after and get the procedure done...
(Rethoric) Is it late for me?
(Lying to be nice) Nah, I was gonna do some paperwork after, but I can always do it tomorrow, so don't worry.
(Comforting) Hey, look at me....worrying is not gonna help... It could still be something benign..... so try to stay calm please?
Thanks.
(Calling your assistant) Anna?!
She's gonna wait in the waiting room until after the next patient.....
Could you please give her a tea with some honey?
Thanks.
Oh and, send in the last patient please.
(Talking to the patient again) Drink it please...the honey will prevent your pressure from falling after all that stress.
Alright.
(Voice fades away) Come in please....Hi, I'm doctor (insert asmrtist name).....

The really long sentences are mine and the separated ones is chatgpt. PLease comment what you think.
But all this peace and tranguility was about to change, with the arrival of the UES Safe Travels. The ship was tasked by the government to retake the lost cargo of the Contact Light, unaware of the horrors of petrichor 5. Making landing zones at spots with the most cargo, they were immediately attacked by the wildlife. The denizens of the planet were infuriated at the death of Providence, and knew that it was the humans fault. They attacked all of the camps, outnumbering the humans by the hundreds they easily won against some of them but some camps stood the test. Our focus must now deviate from the main group of humans, to a specific one, a mechanic named Tohm.

In the chaos that ensued after the arrival of the UES Safe Travels, the once-peaceful Petrichor 5 transformed into a battleground. The denizens of the planet, enraged by the perceived affront to Providence and the disruption of their sanctuary, launched attacks on the human camps established for the retrieval of the lost cargo.
As the wildlife descended upon the landing zones, the humans found themselves outnumbered and ill-prepared for the ferocity of the planet's defenders. The initial skirmishes were swift, with some camps easily overwhelmed by the sheer numbers and hostility of the native creatures. However, a few resilient camps managed to stand their ground against the onslaught.
Amidst the chaos, our focus turns to a specific individual—Tohm, a mechanic among the crew of the UES Safe Travels. As the attacks unfolded, Tohm, with his mechanical expertise, found himself playing a crucial role in the defense efforts. With makeshift barricades and jury-rigged defenses, he worked tirelessly to fortify the camp against the relentless assaults.
Tohm's hands, accustomed to the intricacies of machinery, now wielded tools and devices crafted for survival. The screams of the wildlife and the clashes of combat echoed around him as he repaired damaged structures and repurposed salvaged technology to fend off the planet's vengeful defenders.
The mechanic's determination and resourcefulness caught the attention of his fellow survivors. Tohm emerged as a beacon of hope amidst the chaos, a symbol of resilience in the face of an unforeseen and hostile environment. His skills not only kept the camp standing but also inspired those around him to fight against the fury of Petrichor 5.
As the battle raged on, Tohm's mechanical ingenuity became a vital asset in the struggle for survival. The fate of the UES Safe Travels crew hung in the balance, and in the heart of the battleground, the mechanic stood as a testament to the indomitable spirit of those who dared to venture into the unknown depths of the cosmos.
After the attrition had stopped all the survivors returned to their duties and it was Tohm's turn on watch duty. While he sat in the little foldable chair he brought, he noticed a strange crab like creature wandering the plains. It crawled around looking at the ground and every decent size rock, inspecting it. When it noticed Tohm he jumped and readied his gun but thats what he thought he did, instead he just stood there perplexed. Then, he heard words, no memories, surface in his brain then go silent like they were vanishing.

When the creature noticed Tohm, he instinctively reached for his gun, only to find himself frozen in a state of perplexity.
As Tohm stood there, trying to make sense of the situation, he heard words—fragmented memories that surfaced in his brain. 2024.05.17 06:54 Perfect_Procedure_14 I’m So In Love

That’s it. I’m so absolutely head over heels for this man it’s unreal. I’ve never been with someone who’s loved me so unconditionally, with all my flaws, and even thinks some of them are cute. He doesn’t get concerned about me possibly stretching his clothes (I’m bigger than he is weight wise) and he likes it when I wear his shorts. He kisses the top of my head when we hug, I never have to pay for a date, he opens doors for me, and he just knows what I need without me ever having to say anything. He kisses my stretch marks and tells me they’re beautiful. He’s so gentle and loving and kind and I just wish I knew how to return it. I’m obsessed with his smell, his style, his eyes, and the cute little nose scrunch he does when he laughs. God I love him, he feels like home.
TL;DR: I’m obsessed with my boyfriend and need to let it out so I don’t scare him off lol

Okay, throwaway account
So, recently I(27F) had a beautiful baby girl with my husband(29M). She's my pride and joy, I love her more than I love myself. But, taking care of her has taken its toll on me. My husband promised the work would be 50/50 when we agreed we wanted children, but I don't feel that's being reflected by his actions this past month. It's gotten to the point where I can't even ask him to wash her up without him saying something along the lines of, "My paternity leave is short, I want to make the most of it by relaxing a bit. I'll help you out later." And I get it. His paternity leave is only 6 weeks while mine is 16 weeks, but my nether regions hurt like a bitch for a better part of two weeks after the birth and all he could do for me was occasionally burp her.
Now, my baby girl has gotten to a phase where she doesn't want to sleep. She'll sleep for an hour, but then she's up and back to crying and I have to get up and try to soothe her. It's been happening for a week now and I've gotten so little sleep that I'm nodding off while eating or doing tge laundry and stuff. Saturday was the month anniversary of my daughter's birth, so I decided to gather both sides of the family to meet her. (They hadn't met her prior because a)I wanted to rest as much as I could and b)I heard somewhere that you shouldn't be taking babies out and about when they're fresh out the womb cause they're more prone to illness then).
So, we had this gathering at my mother's house and all was well. Everyone was cooing over our baby, there was food, people were catching up or neeting for the 1st time. It was nice. But, I had gotten about 3 hours(generous estimate) of sleep in total the past week and I was starting to feel the effects of it. I was feeling lightheaded and clammy, but I didn't wanna make a scene so I tried to go to a bedroom to lie down. I didn't take 10 steps before my vision completely blacked out. I wasn't down for long, but I had fallen over which drew some attention. I explained to everyone who was concerned that I was fine and that I was just not getting enough sleep and I could see my husband visibly frown at that. They gave me some of the dessert my aunt made to get my sugar up and the party continued. I felt embarrassed about the whole thing, especially since everyone was still looking over me til we left, but it's whatever
What bothered me is my husband's reaction. When we got home, he started going off on me about how I "made him look bad" and like "he wasn't taking care of me". I was confused on how tf me passing out made HIM look bad, but he refused to explain himself and had a pity party for himself in the kitchen. I was still feeling bad, so I decided to leave him alone and just to go sleep, but he seems to have taken that as a sign that I don't care about his feelings. He's in my ear this morning about how I just ignored him to go sleep last night and how I didn't even put the baby to sleep before leaving. Is he right? AITAH here?
Update: So I've tried talking with him, but he's been ignoring me and the baby the last three hours. I'd usually wait longer, but I'm just too tired to deal with this right now. You guys were right, I do need help with this, and he's made it very clear he's not ready to help me yet, so I'm just going to go to my mom's place. I'm currently packing. I'm so done.
Relevant Comments:
Commenter: The whole point of paternity leave is for him to help out, not relax! He makes you work extra hard on taking care of the baby. Then, when you pass out, he sees himself as a victim who looks bad in front of his family? Your fainting is proof that he's NOT pulling his weight!
If you trust his parents, show them this post and get their backup in giving him the wake-up call he deserves.
OOP: His parents are genuinely nice people, so that may work. I'm starting to worry about my health at this point and he's refusing to listen to me.
Commenter: Also, and this is big- baby may have colic or a milk allergy. Neither are uncommon and her waking like this and the frequent crying are not the norm. You need to call your pediatrician asap. Also, if you're breastfeeding you may find you need to supplement. Sometimes we don't have enough. How often does she need diaper changes?
OOP: Thank you for the advice. I thought she was just being fussy. Someone else said that I should switch to bottlefeeding because it's easier to suckle, so I'll try that while I try and get an appointment. Absolutely insane how random Internet strangers have helped me more with my baby than my husband has. Thank you!!
Commenter: Please divorce this guy. He will continue making life harder for you. I raised my child alone, and I was stunned at how much easier it was once I got rid of the selfish man-baby who had been draining every last bit of my energy.
Plus you don't want your daughter growing up internalizing that treatment as what she should expect as a woman.
NTA. Obviously. Your narcissistic POS spouse needs to take that proverbial long walk off a short pier.
OOP: (written before the update on her post); I don't think divorce is the answer. With a new baby and all, I don't need the added mental, emotional, and financial stress divorce would bring. But I see where you're coming from. I'll see if he'd like to go to couples therapy with me or something. Maybe that would help.
Commenter: OP reading your post......has your husband always been this selfish and entitled?
HE wants to relax while on paternity leave after you gave birth to your beautiful baby girl?
HE looked bad when you almost fainted from lack of sleep? Did he even check on you to make sure you are ok? Have you told your family about this? you need rest and support during this time.
OOP: I don't remember too well. He was there when my vision came back, but when I was thinking clearer, it was just my mom and his mom by my side with the dessert.
And I do feel its unfair that I have to do most of the work, especially when he told me that he'd be helping me out. He promised this would be a team effort, yetI'm doing everything by myself. That's why I was so shocked that he was upset at me for passing out. The man I married would've been tending to me and taking me to bed, not yelling at me for something out of my control. It's like he just switched personalities as soon as our baby was born. He went from loving and supportive to this. I don't understand what happened.
Update Post 1: May 6, 2024 (Next Day)
Hi all, your comments were really helpful, so thank you!
Yesterday, before I could Uber to my mom's house, my sister offered to help me, so I'm staying with her instead. She's taking PTA to help me out with my girl, which I'm very grateful for. She also gave me sleep medicine that knocked me out for hours (I'm not sure if that was a good idea or not, but I slept long and well so I don't care.)
I woke up a few hours ago to tons, and I mean TONS, of messages from my husband. Like, the little app icon had 99+ on it. Here are some of the things he said(copy pasted):
You cant just up and fucking leve with my baby
Come back now pls let's talk abt it
Your actually so fuvking immature wth is wrong with you we have one argument and you fucking pretend like I've been beating you why the hell did you leave???? We can work this out like adults yet your choosing to be difficult like a little bitch
Pls just come back we will talk and sort this out and we can go back to being happy so come back
I miss my baby girl you can't just take her away
What if I call the police for kidnapping??? Would that teach you wat your doing is wrong???
I would screenshot, but it says this community doesnt allow attachments, so i can't. And I know it's a bit weird to tell yall what he's been texting me, but I'm mad right now and this feels therapeutic lol. I already sent the screenshots to his mom though!
As for my baby, I have an appointment to a paediatrician for Wednesday, but for now she's on formula since my breast milk quality isn't the best for understandable reasons. My sister said she wasn't as fussy as I described, so I really think the problem is with my milk. That or my sister wanted to make me feel better for sleeping, who knows. I'll wait for the doctor's opinion.
I'm not feeling 100% but I feel a whole lot more better than before. Thank you to everyone who showed concern! I think this will be the last update since I wanna not think too much about my husband rn.
Update Post 2: May 10, 2024
For all of you who wanted to know what his mother's reaction was, she yelled at him and he made that my problem. The things he's messaged me are vile. And even though MIL was mad at him and KNOWS what he's been saying to me, she still insisted that I go visit him face to face so we can work things out.
I don't really blame her. He's her son, of course she'd still want to help him, but still....With all the ways he's been threatening me and cussing me out, I really didnt want to see him, but I decided to go. Mostly because I needed the stuff that I left at our house.
I went with my sister for safety, obviously. We got there and he played with our baby, he offered to feed her (she wasn't hungry), just acting completely different from the man texting me about how much of a "heartless bitch" I am. I didn't really feel comfortable having him near me or the baby with how violent his texts were, but she's still his baby. I don't think the courts would favour him after I show his texts, but I thought I should rather be safe and allow him some form of contact before going to court. This was a mistake.
At the end of the visit, I decided I should go pack my stuff, since that was one of the only reason I agreed to come. But, I didn't feel comfortable not being there while he had my baby. Yeah, my sister was there and I trust her, but I'd rather watch her with my own eyes. So, my sister went upstairs to pack for me. As soon as she was gone, he started talking about "See? I'm good now I can take care of her." And other stuff but that wasn't the problem. Even if he became super dad, I wouldn't be able to see him the same. Not after all those messages he sent me.
I told him that and he got pissed at me. I was getting worried since my daughter was still in his arms, so I tried to deescalate his feelings. It didn't work and he started yelling at me for "being heartless" and "stubborn" and whatnot. I wasn't really focused on what he was saying, I was focused on my baby. I tried to reach out for her and he shoved me hard enough to fall back. My sister came down and tried to help, but he shoved her away too and ran to the guest room and locked himself and MY BABY in there. He refused to come out unless my sister left and i stayed behind. I can't tell y'all how scary it is to not know what's happening to your child.
It took officers almost 30 minutes to get him out, which pissed me off. Like I know they were probably trying to assess the danger or whatever but I just wanted my baby. In that 30 minute window he could've shaken her or threw her out the window or something and they were there asking him to come out like he was a child and not breaking down the door. She was fine, though, so I can't be too mad.
They didn't arrest him since "no harm was done" even though my sister and I have bruises to prove otherwise, but they held him outside while I packed my stuff. It actually bothers me that they didn't at least detain him, but there's not much I can do about it now. I don't think I'm going to go near him again. Not with my baby. I'm thinking of going to apply for that emergency custody thing yall were talking about.
This happened on Wednesday and I'm still shaken. It's really depressing, for a lack of better word, seeing how much he's changed. I really loved him and I felt he loved me too. How he's acting is crushing me. I feel deflated. My baby girl and my sister are really the only things keeping me going right now.
I'm sorry for the wall of text, it's just that texting this all out helps me feel better. But, I don't think I want to continue updating. Just know that we're splitting up. Thank you all for your support!!
Extra: after visiting the doctor, I've decided to just skip the hassle and formula feed. She seems happier with formula anyways.

2024.05.17 06:25 HandcraftInc Custom Kitchen Cabinets Guide

Custom Kitchen Cabinets Guide
Custom Kitchen Cabinets Guide
The kitchen is often considered the heart of the home, where meals are prepared, conversations flow, and memories are made. When it comes to designing this vital space, custom kitchen cabinets can elevate both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of your kitchen. Whether you're renovating an existing kitchen or building a new one from scratch, designing custom cabinets allows you to tailor every aspect to your needs and preferences. Here's a comprehensive guide to help residential owners navigate the exciting journey of designing custom kitchen cabinets.
Understanding the Benefits
Before diving into the design process, it's crucial to understand the benefits of opting for custom kitchen cabinets over pre-made ones:
Personalization: Custom cabinets are built to your exact specifications, ensuring they fit your kitchen's unique layout and your specific storage needs.
Quality Craftsmanship: Custom cabinets are typically of higher quality than mass-produced options, as they are crafted with precision and attention to detail.
Optimized Storage: You can maximize storage space by designing cabinets that make the most of every nook and cranny, including corner cabinets, pull-out shelves, and vertical dividers.
Enhanced Style: From materials to finishes, custom cabinets offer endless style possibilities. You can choose the perfect combination to complement your kitchen's design theme.
Steps to Designing Custom Kitchen Cabinets
  1. Assess Your Needs
Begin by taking stock of what you need to store in your kitchen. Consider your cooking habits, the appliances you use, and any specialty items that require specific storage solutions. Make a list of everything you want to accommodate in your cabinets, from pots and pans to small appliances and utensils.
  1. Determine the Layout
Next, consider the layout of your kitchen. Take measurements of the walls, windows, doors, and any obstacles such as pipes or vents. This information will help you create a layout that optimizes space and flow. Common kitchen layouts include galley, L-shaped, U-shaped, and island kitchens.
  1. Choose Materials and Finishes
The materials and finishes you choose will greatly influence the look and durability of your cabinets. Some popular options include:
Wood: Classic and timeless, wood offers warmth and beauty. Common choices include oak, maple, cherry, and walnut.
Laminate:Affordable and available in a wide range of colors and patterns, laminate is durable and easy to clean.
Metal: For a modern and industrial look, consider stainless steel or aluminum cabinets.
Painted: You can opt for painted cabinets in any color to match your kitchen's color scheme.
Glass: Glass cabinet doors can add elegance and allow you to showcase decorative items or glassware.
  1. Design Cabinet Features
Think about the specific features you want in your cabinets:
Drawers vs. Doors: Consider the ratio of drawers to doors based on what you need to store. Drawers are great for easy access to pots, pans, and utensils.
Pull-Out Shelves: These shelves make it easy to access items stored at the back of the cabinet.
Lazy Susans: Ideal for corner cabinets, lazy Susans allow you to maximize storage and access.
Vertical Dividers: Perfect for storing baking sheets, cutting boards, and trays.
Custom Inserts: Tailor your cabinets with custom inserts for spices, knives, and utensils.
Working with Custom Carpentry Contractors and Installers
When it comes to bringing your custom cabinet design to life, working with skilled carpentry contractors and installers is key. Here's how to ensure a smooth collaboration:
Research and Get Quotes: Start by researching local carpentry contractors with experience in custom cabinetry. Ask for recommendations from friends, family, or check online reviews. Obtain quotes from several contractors to compare prices and services.
Review Portfolios: Ask to see portfolios of previous work to get a sense of the contractor's style and quality of craftsmanship. This will also help you gather ideas and inspiration for your own project.
Communicate Your Vision: Clearly communicate your design ideas, preferences, and functional needs to the contractor. Provide them with detailed drawings or plans if you have them. Be open to their suggestions and expertise, as they may offer valuable insights based on their experience.
Timeline and Budget: Discuss your project timeline and budget with the contractor upfront. Make sure they can accommodate your timeline and provide a detailed breakdown of costs. Be prepared for potential additional costs if there are changes or unforeseen circumstances during the project.
Regular Updates: Throughout the project, maintain open communication with the contractor. Regular updates on the progress and any issues that arise will help ensure everything stays on track.
Quality Checks: Before installation, inspect the custom cabinets to ensure they meet your expectations in terms of quality, finish, and functionality. Address any concerns with the contractor promptly.
Enjoying Your Custom Cabinets
Once your custom cabinets are installed, take the time to organize your kitchen items thoughtfully. Enjoy the functionality and beauty of your custom cabinets, knowing they were designed to meet your exact needs and style preferences. Custom cabinets not only enhance the value of your home but also make cooking and entertaining a joyous experience.

2024.05.17 06:25 Alex72598 Hell's Kitchen Season 24 - Episode 12

Previously, on Hell’s Kitchen…
The final 10 were given a challenge not seen in over a decade, creating their own menus in the revival of Red vs Blue Menu Night. While the blue team worked together, with a strong concept provided by Melody, the red team found themselves being led by Thomas, whether they liked it or not. However, as the chefs were returning to the kitchen to begin cooking their dishes, disaster struck, as Travis re-injured his ankle, and had to be taken to the hospital. Despite being down a man, and Grace feeling shortchanged by not getting anything on the menu, the blue team’s cohesive selection still managed to impress Ramsay and his special guests: three previous winners of Hell’s Kitchen. The red team’s menu had mixed results, which led to friction between Thomas and some of his teammates
In service, the blue team’s menu had the edge in popularity, but thanks to poor communication between Grace and Carole, the kitchen ground to a halt multiple times. Meanwhile, the red kitchen managed to push out their food in a timely manner thanks to strong teamwork on entrees. With the red team named the winners of service, it was time for the blue team to nominate two chefs to send home.
At elimination, though, everyone was in for a shock when Travis, who had been one of the early favorites, returned and announced that due to injury, he would be leaving Hell’s Kitchen for good. Ramsay still insisted on hearing from the blue team’s nominees, who were Grace, Carole and Melody after they failed to come to a consensus. But with Travis’ dream of becoming the next head chef at Gordon Ramsay Steak in Vancouver, British Columbia already having come to a heartbreaking end, Ramsay gave everyone another chance to show him why they were the chef he was looking for, but assured them that he was not taking any more excuses from now on.

And now, the continuation of Hell’s Kitchen…
After witnessing the shocking withdrawal of Travis from the competition, no one was in a celebratory mood as Ramsay dismissed them to the dorms for the night. Carole said in her confessional that he had been the main one supporting her in the blue team, and now it felt like she was truly on her own. As the blue team returned to the dorms, a very upset Melody unleashed her frustration, saying that Travis did not deserve to go home tonight over either Carole and Grace, and they needed to cut the bullshit and start thinking and working as a team. Lauren said in her confessional that it seemed like something snapped in Melody tonight, as she was well and truly fed up with the drama, which definitely made two of them. Even so, after noticing that Melody was sitting alone and nearly in tears, Lauren went over to comfort her, as Melody admitted that she hated to have to talk that way to her teammates, but she was sick and tired of the drama. Lauren assured her that it had to be said, and was proud of her for stepping up. Meanwhile, Grace said in her confessional that Melody seemed to be losing her composure, and would hopefully go down in flames soon.
On the red team’s side of the dorm, Faye was also feeling sadness over the way Travis had gone out, as she admitted to Michael that it reminded her too much of her own exit last season, only at least she had made the choice to walk away, while Travis never had one. Meanwhile, another chef had mixed feelings on the sudden turn of events, as Thomas said in his confessional that Travis had been a strong chef and a good person, and while losing him would cut the competition down, he would have rather seen him go out with dignity. Ramona and Everett, meanwhile, continued to stick closely together, with Ramona saying in her confessional that it felt good to have the security of the immunity pass, because she and Everett were definitely the most likely to be nominated if service went wrong, though she admitted she would feel some guilt if he went out because of it, but this was her career and future at stake. Everett said in his confessional that he couldn’t afford to worry about what might happen if he went up on the chopping block, and was just focused on trying to help the red team win.
The chefs were still trying to take in all the events of the night, but finally, tiredness overtook them, and they turned in for the night.
Challenge
The next day, the final 9 came downstairs to find Ramsy waiting for them, as well as a detailed diagram of a cow. Ramsay explained that he still had not forgotten the disaster that was Steak Night, and that was why, for this next challenge, he wanted to give both teams a chance to prove how far they had come by preparing dishes using five cuts: ribeye, top sirloin, hanger, flank, and striploin. Thomas said in his confessional that the red team had no business fucking this up, as they had several chefs who were strong on the meat station in services, while Lauren was nervous in her confessional, as she wasn’t sure about Grace or Carole. Since the blue team had one less member, one chef would have to prepare two dishes, which Lauren volunteered to do. With their instructions having been given, Ramsay told the chefs that their time started now.
The chefs rushed into their respective kitchens and quickly tried to sort out who would be responsible for which cuts of steak. In the blue kitchen, Lauren decided to take on the hanger and flank steak, while Grace took the ribeye, over Carole’s objections, and Carole was left with the striploin, while Melody took the top sirloin. Grace said in her confessional that she fought for this ribeye and she was going to carry her team to victory whether they liked it or not, while Carole said she would’ve felt much safer if anyone else were cooking the ribeye besides Grace. While Carole still seemed undecided on which direction to go with her New York Strip, at least one chef already had her dish planned out, and that was Melody, who went into detail in her confessional on how she wanted to plate her top sirloin. Meanwhile, Lauren was working hard to manage two separate cuts of meat, saying in her confessional that taking on the extra workload could either make her look really good in front of Chef Ramsay or totally blow up in her face.
In the red kitchen, Thomas was on the top sirloin, Ramona had the ribeye, Faye had hanger steak, Michael had flank steak, and Everett had striploin. Ramona said in her confessional that she had to deliver on the ribeye, as she already had the most losses of any chef here, and didn’t need to add any more to her resume with black jackets approaching. Thomas was confident that he could handle the top sirloin, as he said in his confessional that no one still here should have any issues cooking meat, and he would be disappointed in himself if he didn’t achieve perfection on this dish. Michael noticed Ramona seemed to be having some trouble with her ribeye, and tried to offer some advice, but Ramona said in her confessional that she had to do this alone, and told him she had it under control. Michael was annoyed, saying in his confessional that this was still a team effort, and it was no time to let egos get in the way. Meanwhile, Faye and Everett were seemingly in good spirits, with Everett saying in his confessional that meat was where he felt the most at home, and if he failed at this challenge, he might as well go home now, while Faye said in her confessional that it was nice to see Everett so energetic, and she hoped his dish could match that.
With the time nearly up, the chefs put the finishing touches on their dishes as Ramsay called out the final seconds and told the chefs to bring their plates to the pass. Ramsay then announced that he would be joined by a special guest judge for this competition, who was a familiar face to viewers of MasterChef: Ramsay’s former co-host on that show, Graham Elliot. The chefs were starstruck, with Melody saying in her confessional Graham was the best, and easily her favorite judge on MasterChef…after Ramsay, of course. After exchanging a warm greeting, Ramsay said it was time to get down to business, starting with the battle of the flank steak. This round would pit Lauren against Michael, with Michael saying in his confessional that this was his first time going against Lauren in a challenge, and he knew it wouldn’t be easy to take her down, given how consistently strong she had been. After tasting Lauren’s dish, both Ramsay and Elliot had high praise, saying the meat was tender and nicely cooked, although Elliot did say he might have done something different for the garnish. Lauren was second-guessing herself in her confessional, but In the end, both judges gave it four stars out of five. Michael said in his confessional that as expected, Lauren put up a good dish, but he was confident in his as well. Indeed, Michael’s flank steak was also found to be nicely cooked, and despite the somewhat simple presentation, Ramsay said this was a great start for both teams, as again, both he and Elliot each gave it a four.
With the score tied at 8, it was time for the battle of the hanger steak. Lauren stayed where she was while Faye brought her dish up to the pass. Elliot was impressed that Lauren had cooked two dishes for the challenge, although he noted that the hanger steak could’ve used a little more cooking time, which Ramsay agreed with, saying that was the one thing holding it back, and Lauren kicked herself in her confessional, as she said she should have been able to stay on top of it. Elliot only gave it a three due to the undercooked steak, though Ramsay said it still delivered enough flavor to get a four. Faye’s dish also got mixed reviews, as both chefs praised the cook of the meat, but questioned her garnish choices, with Ramsay pointing out that the presentation seemed slightly off. Elliot said she got the most important part right though, and gave it a four, to which Ramsay agreed, which put the red team ahead 16-15. In the third round, the teams’ ribeye dishes went head to head, for which Ramona and Grace stepped forward. Unfortunately for Ramona, her ribeye was badly overcooked, and Ramsay took her to task for serving something practically inedible to him and his guest. Ramona groaned in her confessional, as she couldn’t believe she had fucked up this badly. Both judges gave her a one, and Ramsay said she was lucky to get even that. Grace’s dish got mixed reviews, with Ramsay saying the presentation was shocking, while Elliot noted that the ribeye again was overcooked, though not nearly as much as Ramona’s. Ramsay said this was not what he expected from these chefs at this stage of the game, and gave Grace a one, but Elliot was more generous and gave it a two, as at least it had some flavor.
With the scores now tied at 18, it was time for the battle of the top sirloin, as Thomas and Melody brought their dishes forward. Melody’s dish earned praise for it’s stylish presentation and garnish, and after tasting the steak itself, Ramsay noted that it was cooked perfectly, and said this dish was a strong four, but Elliot went a step further and said it deserved a five, which made Melody giddy in her confessional, as she never could have imagined hearing those words before. Next was Thomas, with Elliot again noting the stunning presentation, and after tasting, he said that these two had really raised the bar today. Ramsay agreed and said it was the best pair of dishes yet, and this time, he would be giving out a five. Elliot agreed, giving Thomas a perfect score, which he took with a calm smile in his confessional, as he said Melody gave him a good run, but he never had any doubts. With the red team now back in the lead 28-27, it was time for the final round, as Everett and Carole would face off in the battle of the New York Strip. Everett went first, with Elliot saying, after a long pause…that the strip was absolutely delicious. Ramsay agreed, also praising the presentation, and said this was one of Everett’s best dishes yet in Hell’s Kitchen, as that deserved a very strong four. Elliot gave the same score, bringing the red team’s total up to an impressive 36, meaning Carole needed close to a perfect score to keep the blue team in it. Everett was absolutely fired up in his confessional, saying this was just the boost that he needed, and there was no stopping him now. Meanwhile, Carole presented her dish, which got good marks for presentation, but as Elliot sliced into the strip, he said it looked undercooked, to which Ramsay agreed, and said it was a great shame. Though it was only a formality, both Elliot and Ramsay gave the dish a two, giving the red team a 36-31 win.
Reward / Punishment
Ramsay thanked Elliot for helping him judge the challenge, and once he had left, Ramsay turned back to the chefs and congratulated the red team on winning the challenge, in particular praising the efforts of Everett and Thomas. He then said they were in for a fun reward, as he was sending all of them off for a day of paintball, followed by dinner at an exquisite LA steakhouse. Ramona was relieved in her confessional, as she knew she could have blown it for the red team with her ribeye, while Everett was ecstatic to have redeemed himself in this challenge, as he said in his confessional that he was still a beast at cooking meat. While the red team ran off to get changed, Ramsay turned his attention to the blue team and said that for today’s punishment, he had decided to put it towards a good cause by volunteering them for community service, which meant picking up trash on the side of the road. Grace moaned in her confessional, as she said that they always seemed to save the worst punishments for her. Ramsay reminded Melody that she still had that punishment pass, and offered to let her use it. Melody replied that she was never a paintball type of girl, and would rather help out the environment. Ramsay accepted her choice and told the blue team that they too would be changing…into their stunning orange uniforms.
The red team came back downstairs, and Michael joked in his confessional that it looked like Hell’s Kitchen had turned into a prison, while Faye apologetically said goodbye. While on the way to the paintball ground, the red team talked amongst themselves in the car, with Thomas saying that no one else was going home from the red team, and Michael agreed, saying they were all getting black jackets. Faye wondered aloud who their biggest competition might be from the blue team, but everyone quickly agreed that Lauren was the strongest. Ramona said in her confessional that she knew everyone was sleeping on her, but she would simply have to prove them wrong in service. Later, the chefs arrived at the paintball ground, and Faye said she hoped none of them would go easy on her just because she was a woman. Everett joked that she had nothing to worry about there, and the team ended up having an enjoyable afternoon, with Ramona and Everett trying to team up against Thomas, but he was able to shoot both of them. Michael said in his confessional that it felt great to just get outside and let loose without having to do some exhausting punishment. As evening approached, the red team were then taken to dinner, which Everett said in his confessional was some of the finest quality steak he had ever tasted, though not quite as good as the home cooking back in Oklahoma, which got some laughs from the others. Faye said that the next winner was sitting right here at this table, to which the others enthusiastically toasted, and the chefs continued to bond as a team over their meal.
While the red team were living the good life, the blue team were working in the hot sun to ensure that the environment could do the same. While the others tried to get on with their task, though, Grace’s constant complaining quickly got on all of their nerves, as Carole said in exasperation in her confessional that they were all well aware of the fact that Grace didn’t want to be here, and she didn’t need to broadcast it every five seconds. Lauren joked with Melody that she wouldn’t mind going on that paintball reward just to take a few shots at Grace, which Melody said in her confessional was tough to argue with, as even her optimistic outlook was being challenged right now by Grace’s incessant whining. Carole said in her confessional that she and Grace were definitely the most vulnerable on the team, but as long as Grace kept this up, she was making the decision easy for everyone, and as far as Carole was concerned, that was perfectly fine. Despite having their patience tested, the blue team worked through their physically exhausting community service and, for the most part, left feeling that at least some good had come of it.
Back in Hell’s Kitchen, the blue team arrived first and tried to unwind in the dorms until the red team returned later in the night. Grace quickly became annoyed with the red team talking about their reward, while Ramona said in her confessional that she didn’t mind rubbing it in her old rival’s face a bit. Lauren said in her confessional that the red team could have this one, as she was keeping her eyes on service. As the night dragged on, another topic came up, that being Travis, as everyone on the blue team aside from Grace admitted to missing him, and Lauren jokingly said even the punishments just weren’t the same now. Faye sympathized, as she said it was tough to watch a chef who had put everything on the line and pushed through an injury go out like that, even if this was a competition. Thomas agreed and said that everyone here deserved a chance to fight for their dream, as for these chefs, it was a potentially life changing opportunity, and he knew he would be devastated to lose it. Michael said in his confessional that it was no time for fucking around anymore, as they all needed to cook like it was their last night in Hell’s Kitchen.
The chefs chatted amongst themselves for a while longer before finally trying to get some sleep.
Pre-Service
The next day, the chefs went downstairs to begin prep, as Ramsay said that this was the stage in the competition where he wanted to see the best begin to shine, and warned that there would be nowhere to hide for chefs who were struggling to keep up. With that, he told the blue team that despite being a man down, he expected absolutely nothing less than a stellar performance, and told the red team not to get too comfortable with their challenge win, as they still needed to be locked in for service. With all nine chefs seemingly read to go, Ramsay allowed them to get started on prep.
In the blue kitchen, Melody and Lauren were in good spirits, though Melody admitted she still missed having Travis here, despite the fact that the blue team was all women now. Carole said in her confessional that the ladies should have no problems taking this service, as while she didn’t mind the format change, having all girls on one team was how it was done in the old days, and it would be even better if Grace was gone. Grace, meanwhile, seemed to be in a bad mood after her ribeye flopped in the challenge, as she said in her confessional that it couldn’t have been as bad as Ramsay said, as much as she respected his opinion, and refused to acknowledge Melody’s attempts to talk to her. Melody said in her confessional that nobody wanted Grace here, but the least she could do was try to reach out, as futile as it seemed. Lauren said in her confessional that in order for the blue team to win tonight, they needed Carole and Grace to step up big time, as she and Melody couldn’t do all the work here.
While the blue team was hoping for a miracle, the red team seemed loose and ready to go, with Michael saying that he had a good feeling about tonight, as there were no excuses for losing to the blue team now. Ramona said to Everett that this was their redemption night, with Everett agreeing and saying they were going to kick some culinary ass, and Faye said it was great to see both of them committed to bouncing back and leading the red team to another win. Everett replied that Grace was going home tonight for sure, which got some laughs from the others, as Michael said in his confessional that this was the one thing he was sure literally everyone else could agree on. Thomas, though, said in his confessional that everyone being this hyped up actually worried him, as he hoped they weren’t getting distracted and forgetting that they still had to earn the win. Michael encouraged him to lighten up, as they had a virtual all-star team here, but Thomas still maintained his serious demeanor, with Ramona saying in her confessional that this guy seriously needed to get a hobby.
Ramsay reminded the chefs again that he was looking for these chefs to show him why they deserved to become the head chef of Gordon Ramsay Steak, and with that, he called out to Marino and told him to open Hell’s Kitchen.
Dinner Service
Guests began to enter Hell’s Kitchen by the dozens, as it was once again the center of the culinary world for tonight, filled to the brim with celebrities and Hollywood elites. It was not long before orders began to make their way back to both kitchens.
In the blue kitchen, they were looking to Grace on appetizers and Carole on fish to give the blue team an early edge, while Lauren was on garnish and Melody was on meat. Early on, Grace managed to successfully deliver her first table of lobster tail risottos and capellini, with nicely cooked tails from Carole along with an acceptable order of scallops. Carole said in her confessional that they absolutely needed to keep this up, as both of them were effectively cooking for their lives right now. Unfortunately, communication issues cropped up again, with Grace not talking to Carole and bringing up her dishes without waiting for Carole’s scallops. Ramsay called out for the scallops, saying food was dying at the pass, and demanded to know why the fuck they couldn’t just work together as a team. Carole did eventually bring up the scallops, but they were raw, much to Ramsay’s disgust, and Grace said in her confessional that Carole just needed to get out of here as she clearly wasn’t cutting it. Despite these issues, and an overly salty risotto from Grace, the blue team did manage to finally start getting appetizers out into the dining room, with Ramsay even praising Grace’s risottos at one point, and telling her that’s what she could do if she would focus more on cooking than starting shit with her team. The blue team did eventually complete appetizers and began working on entrees.
In the red kitchen, Everett was working appetizers, while Michael was on fish, Ramona was on garnish, and Thomas and Faye were together on meat. Everett was glad to be working closely with Michael again, as he said in his confessional that they made a good team in the last service on meat. Early on, that familiarity seemed to be paying off, as Everett and Michael worked in sync with each other on the first few tickets and got their orders out in a timely fashion. Things did get bumpy, however, when Everett served mushy, overcooked capellini, and started dragging on orders, while Michael served overcooked scallops due to them getting mixed up on their times. Michael said in his confessional that they needed to get it together quickly, as they couldn’t afford to be falling behind so early in service. Meanwhile, Ramsay wanted to know where the energy was, as right now, Everett was going quiet and not responding when asked for times, and nothing was going out. Michael urged Everett to wake up and fight through it, and Everett did manage to get his next attempt at the capellini accepted. In his confessional, Everett said he was trying his best to keep it together, and admitted he had been thrown off his game, but he was far from done. With Everett’s newfound determination, the red kitchen finally had some life again, and after Ramsay praised both Michael’s scallops and Everett’s risottos, the two of them managed to get their rhythm back and serve the rest of their tables.
In the blue kitchen, they looked fo Melody to lead the way from the meat station, and thanks to strong communion between her, Lauren on garnish, and Carole on fish, they managed to get their dishes to the pass for the first table, but Carole’s turbot was undercooked, which left the entire order waiting for her, but she was able to recover quickly on her second attempt. On meat, Melody said in her confessional that it was pretty overwhelming to have to serve all of the blue team’s customers by herself for the first time, but despite dragging a bit on orders, she managed to push high quality Wellingtons and New York Strip out into the dining room consistently. Lauren, meanwhile, seemed at home driving tickets from the garnish station, and the blue team was finally starting to settle into a groove. Melody did serve a rare New York Strip, while Carole served raw turbot, but both were able to bounce back, and entrees were soon flying out to grateful diners. Melody and Lauren once again had no problems communicating and working in sync from their stations, with Lauren saying in her confessional that she and Melody could probably run the kitchen by themselves. But it was Carole who once again held up the kitchen when she inexplicably fired off halibut despite it not being on the ticket, which got her schooled by Ramsay for not paying attention to the ticket when he was standing less than five feet away. Despite this, the blue team managed to complete the rest of their entrees, and were soon ready to get started on desserts.
The red team was starting on entrees with Thomas and Faye on the meat station, and Faye said in her confessional that with meat being a station she felt comfortable in, she hoped tonight could be the night she stood out for the red team. On the first ticket, she and Thomas managed to serve beautifully cooked Wellingtons and New York Strip, along with nicely cooked turbot from Michael, but Ramona was holding the table up by dragging on garnish. Though she eventually managed to bring it up, Ramona would continue to drag on her section, frustrating her team, but especially Ramsay, as he kept calling out for times, with Ramona becoming flustered and not responding to her team. Ramona said in her confessional that the nerves were absolutely getting to her right now, and she seriously needed to bounce back. Meanwhile, Faye ran into some trouble on her Wellingtons, as she undercooked them for one table and said she would need several minutes for a refire, though she was able to recover. Thomas also had a rare mistake as he served undercooked New York Strip, and Ramsay said he didn't expect that from the executive chef. Thomas kicked himself in his confessional, saying that could not happen again, and he did manage to serve a beautiful New York Strip on his refire. However, on the next ticket, Ramona served a pot of runny mashed potatoes, and also seemed lost on what was actually going, as she couldn’t recall the ticket when Ramsay asked her. Ramsay had seen enough and took her into the pantry, asking her what the fuck she was doing, and if it was some kind of joke to her. Ramona insisted it wasn’t and said it was just nerves, but Ramsay replied that she needed to shake those nerves right now, or he would send her out the front door, immunity pass or not. Ramona said in her confessional that it was do or die, and she did manage to finally serve acceptable garnishes. Faye was still dragging on Wellingtons, which frustrated Ramsay, but finally, the red team managed to complete their remaining entrees.
Both teams finished their desserts in good time, and Ramsay told them to clear down.
Post-Mortem
Ramsay had the teams line up and started by saying that this was still not the complete performance he had been looking for. For the blue team, appetizers had been underwhelming, but they improved on entrees. For the red team, it was a decent start on apps, followed by a nightmare on entrees. However, he noted that one team in particular had a slight edge, and that was the blue team, as despite their issues, their customer comment cards gave them a satisfaction rating of 90%, to 84% from the red team. Ramsay said that the fiasco on entrees cost the red team this service, and told them to think long and hard about which two should be going up for elimination tonight. With that, he dismissed both teams to the dorms.
Back in the dorms, the red team’s deliberations were kicked off by Thomas, as he said he hoped everyone could agree that Ramona had dropped the ball tonight on garnish. The others seemed to agree, with Michael saying it was her worst performance in a while. Ramona only half-heartedly fought back, as she said she was better than this, and knew she still deserved to be here, but said if they wanted to put her up, it was their choice. In her confessional, she said she knew that immunity pass wouldn’t last forever, and it was better to get her bad service out of the way now, than during black jackets. With the first nominee having been an easy choice, the second would be more challenging, as Everett acknowledged that Michael and Thomas both had great services despite each having a mistake, and didn’t deserve to go up, which left either him or Faye. Thomas said that he felt Faye had struggled on meat, and that Ramsay rightfully had high expectations of both of them, due to his experience and her being a past chef, so he would vote for her. Michael, though, said that he had to vote for Everett, as he was just too inconsistent at this stage. Faye seemed torn but said she had to vote for Everett, even though they were friends, as he had struggled the most of the available options. Ramona was left with the deciding vote, and said in her confessional that it was impossibly difficult, as Faye had been a mentor for her here, while she had also bonded with Everett.
On the blue team’s side of the dorm, everyone was pleased to have won service and avoided having to send anyone home…well, almost everyone. Lauren admitted to Melody that it sucked having to put up with Grace for another day, while Melody tried to get her to think more positively, as if they were winning with Grace on their team, Ramsay definitely had to be taking notice. Lauren smiled and said she was definitely right about that, and the two of them continued chatting together while Carole sat off by herself and pondered her future in Hell’s Kitchen, In her confessional, she said she was damn lucky that the blue team won tonight, as she and Grace would have gone up otherwise, and that could have been it for her and her dream. Meanwhile, Grace felt that she had done well, and could have done even better without Carole getting in the way, saying in her confessional that it would be nice to get rid of dead weight, but she would settle for seeing someone from the red team go home.
Elimination Ceremony
The red team entered the dining room anxiously and lined up before Ramsay, who said that this was supposed to be the best five on the red team, but instead, it looked like two completely different teams, and while he didn’t know what the hell was going on, he was going to get to the bottom of it. With that, he asked Thomas for the red team’s first nominee and why. Thomas announced that the red team had nominated Ramona, due to her terrible performance on garnish, and being the weakest chef on the team. Ramsay asked for the second nominee and why. Thomas hesitated briefly before announcing that…the red team was nominating Everett, due to his declining performances and up and down service on appetizers. Before getting to any elimination pleas, though, Ramsay told Ramona to step forward and had her hand over the immunity pass. As she did so, Ramsay said that if not for the pass, Ramona would have gone home tonight, and urged her to take advantage of this second chance, before sending her back in line. Ramona appeared visibly shaken as she went to rejoin the red team. Ramsay said that the red team now had 30 seconds to talk amongst themselves and come up with another nominee. In the huddle, the chefs quickly determined that Faye would go up, as she had been their other consideration. As they broke the huddle, Thomas announced that Faye was the red team’s new nominee. Ramsay accepted this and told Everett and Faye to step forward.
Deliberation music
First, Ramsay asked Faye why she should stay in Hell’s Kitchen.
Faye: “My time away from Hell’s Kitchen gave me a whole new perspective on cooking, it made me realize why I’m doing this. It’s for my family, it’s for me, I can’t imagine doing anything else. That’s why I’ll never give up on myself or my team.”
Ramsay asked Faye if she thought she was a better chef than Everett.
Faye: “...Everett is a fighter, chef, and a good teammate, but yes, I do believe I’m stronger than him in terms of consistency and leadership.”
Ramsay moved on to Everett, asking him why he should stay in Hell’s Kitchen.
Everett: “This competition is a marathon, chef. I’ve had my ups and downs, I’ve had my stumbles, but I feel like I’m just on the cusp of hittin’ my stride.”
Ramsay said he had been waiting and waiting for Everett to emerge, and it seemed like he was trending downwards.
Everett: “I’ve had a slump, chef, I ain’t gonna deny that. But I’m fightin’ through it. I know I can be your next head chef.”
Ramsay asked Everett if he thought he was a stronger chef than Faye.
Everett: “Chef…”
Dramatic music
Ramsay waited on Everett’s answer, and after a tense moment, he finally spoke…
Everett: “Chef…at this time, no, I can’t say that I am.”
Faye glanced over at Everett in shock, as did everyone else from the red team, and even some of the blue team.
Ramsay: “I appreciate the honesty. Please, give me your jacket, your time is done in Hell’s Kitchen.”
Elimination music
Everett handed over his jacket and shook Ramsay’s hand.
Everett: “Thank you so much for this opportunity, chef.”
Ramsay: “Let me tell you something, young man, you have so much passion and fightback within you, I’ve seen it throughout this competition. Unfortunately, I didn’t see enough of it in service, or just now, but I hope you can find it again, because you are bloody talented. I wish you all the best.”
Everett thanked Ramsay again and waved goodbye to his team as he exited Hell’s Kitchen.
Everett’s comment
“Oh man…when I first entered Hell’s Kitchen, I never thought I’d be walkin’ out the door like this. I thought I was headed straight for the top, no problem. Each day was like this crazy mixture of anxiety, thrills, and drama. I fought, and I fought, and I fought for my place, until, I guess I just couldn’t fight no more. I’ll always have good memories of my time here, but I sure as hell wouldn’t do it again! (laughs)

With Everett’s elimination, Ramsay told Faye to get back in line, and addressed the chefs collectively as the final 8, saying that tonight should be a reminder to each of these chefs that a downward spiral at this point was unacceptable, as things were not going to get any easier. With that, Ramsay told them all to get some rest, because tomorrow, he was going to start separating the chefs from the cooks.
As the chefs went back to the dorms, several of them had confessionals. Thomas said that Ramona was definitely a bigger liability than Everett, but hopefully losing her immunity would wake her up. Michael said that it sucked that Everett left when he was far from the worst tonight. Ramona was clearly still shaken from the experience, as she said she felt awful about Everett going home when she had a worse performance, and knew she had to bounce back tomorrow or it would all be over for her. Melody said that between Travis and Everett, watching their fellow chefs go home was just getting more and more difficult, but she knew there were still seven more between her and the grand prize. Grace said none of these chefs were on her level, and she was going to keep being herself and kicking ass in the kitchen, regardless of her team’s hate for her. Lauren said that with only four on each team, there was nowhere left to hide, and everything they had done up until now was just the warm up for the real tests that lay ahead.

2024.05.17 06:17 General-Cobbler-3454 Why Fiberglass Doors are the Perfect Choice for Durability and Style

When it comes to choosing the right doors for your home, both durability and style play pivotal roles in the decision-making process. Homeowners today are faced with a myriad of options, but one material stands out for its superior blend of strength and aesthetic appeal: fiberglass. In this post, we'll explore why fiberglass doors, including specialized options like fiberglass windows and fiberglass picture windows, are becoming increasingly popular among discerning homeowners.

Unparalleled Durability

Fiberglass is renowned for its resilience and long-lasting performance. Unlike traditional materials that may warp, crack, or fade over time, fiberglass doors maintain their integrity and appearance, even under harsh weather conditions. This durability stems from the unique manufacturing process of fiberglass, which combines fine glass fibers with resin to create a material that's not only tough but also resistant to rot, corrosion, and pest damage. For homeowners, this means lower maintenance costs and the peace of mind that comes with knowing your door will stand the test of time. Whether you're looking at standard fiberglass doors or specialized options like fiberglass picture windows, you're investing in a product designed to last.

Energy Efficiency

Fiberglass doors offer excellent insulation properties, making them an energy-efficient choice for your home. The material's composition allows it to act as a barrier against temperature changes, helping to keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This thermal resistance can lead to significant savings on heating and cooling bills, making fiberglass doors a smart investment for cost-conscious homeowners. In addition, many fiberglass doors and windows are available with energy-efficient glazing options, further enhancing their ability to maintain comfortable indoor temperatures and reduce energy consumption.

Aesthetic Flexibility

One of the most appealing aspects of fiberglass doors is their versatility in design. The material can be molded into a wide range of styles, from traditional to contemporary, and can even mimic the look and texture of natural wood. This versatility allows homeowners to enjoy the benefits of fiberglass without sacrificing the aesthetic they desire for their home's exterior. Furthermore, fiberglass doors come in a variety of colors and finishes, and they can be easily painted to match or complement your home's color scheme. Whether you're looking for a sleek, modern look or a classic, wood-grain finish, fiberglass offers the flexibility to achieve your desired aesthetic.

Enhanced Security

The strength of fiberglass extends beyond its resistance to weather and wear; it also offers superior security. Fiberglass doors are incredibly tough to breach, providing an added layer of protection against break-ins. When combined with high-quality locks and hardware, a fiberglass door can significantly enhance your home's security.

Conclusion

For homeowners seeking a perfect blend of durability, style, and energy efficiency, fiberglass doors are an excellent choice. Their resilience against wear and tear, coupled with their insulation properties and aesthetic flexibility, make them a standout option in the realm of home improvement. Whether you're renovating your current home or building a new one, consider the benefits of fiberglass doors and windows, including specialized options like fiberglass picture windows, for a long-lasting, beautiful, and energy-efficient solution Incorporating targeted keywords such as "fiberglass windows" and "fiberglass picture windows" helps homeowners understand the breadth of options available to them, ensuring that their home not only looks great but is also built to last.

2024.05.17 06:14 loud-and-very-tasty Found a low charisma build event

Im doing an unarmed run so I maxed out strength and agility, with 1 charisma. I've failed almost every charisma check so far and some of them are quite funny. I'm doing far harbour now and I'm talking with kye (an AI that does not open the a door with loot unless u have valentine or pass a charisma check) and I can't pass the charisma check. I Exhausted all the dialogue options and exited the convo. I then reentered and it was a new option asking a new question. Exited the dialogue again, reentered and there was a new option. After that I got a new easy charisma check that wasn't there before. I passed it and he opened the door

2024.05.17 06:07 ForwardSavings318 [RO] for diplomacy’s sake

Prince Ezekiel looked in the mirror examining his suit, wishing that he would be struck down. His hopeful thinking was interrupted by pounding on his door.
“Master, I’m coming in. If you’re not ready for the wedding I swear to the gods that I will-” Ezekiel didn’t even let the voice finish before jumping up and quickly putting on black pants and a regal purple coat, and finishing it off with a white bow.
“Ok! I’m dressed.” Ezekiel said nervously, chittering his teeth as he watched his maid come in. She examined him carefully before hugging him.
“Oh your majesty, you look handsome. Your bride will be so happy! This will be great.” He teared up a bit and looked into his maid’s eyes
“I don’t want to get married. I don’t even know what she looks like! Why can’t father be the one getting married to her?” His maid kissed his forehead and rubbed his back.
“Ezekiel, your father needs peace with the trolls. I know it’s hard but this marriage is a symbol of bond between our kingdoms. The princess asked for our prince. She’s probably just as nervous as you.” Ezekiel took a deep breath and nodded to his maid.
She lead him through the corridors and into the royal hall. It was filled with humans and trolls with all eyes falling on him. The troll king and his father both watched him step in front of the altar. “Welcome, boy.” His father whispered whilst shaking Ezekiel’s hand.
The troll king grabbed Ezekiel’s head and pressed their foreheads together. “I am glad you will be family. Your father speaks of your kind heart.” Ezekiel nods and thanks them both, trying to calm his nerves.
A drum beat echoed through the royal hall as Trolls bowed down, paying respect to their princess. Her skin was as blue as sapphires, and two small tusks protruded from her mouth as she smiled. Ezekiel was taken aback for her beauty, her emerald eyes pierced through him. She looked like a dream he would never want to wake up from. All he could mutter was three words.
“Am I……Dreaming?” Ezekiel heard chuckling behind him as his father softly slapped his shoulder. He realized he was staring, quickly bowing to the princess. She took his hands in her own. Her strength surprised Ezekiel.
“I am Thakita. You must be my husband.” She said softly, smiling at him with a light blush. Ezekiel locked eyes with her again, he slowly realized that she was taller than him now that they stood together.
“I’m Ezekiel. I must admit, I didn’t want to be here. I was scared. But seeing you, I’m glad I came.” Thakita’s ears twitch as he says that, her blush deepening.
“As am I, darling.”
The troll behind the altar spoke in a gravelly tone “We come here today to welcome Britannia into our nation, and its people to our family. With this marriage we join together in a new age of allegiance and peace. We welcome Prince Ezekiel into our lineage and let Princess Thakita into theirs. Let them join together now, as husband and bride.”
Ezekiel cupped Thakita’s face and whispered “may I?”
“You may.” Thakita said with a smile.
Ezekiel leaned upwards and kissed her, causing applause to flood the room.

2024.05.17 06:06 JumbleOfOddThoughts My Pedantic poetry

A lovely and fearsome Black cat crossed my path,
At a house, unknown, full of uncertainty, she flipped and turned and batted her eyes, full of grace and beauty. I called her fair, her movements daring and I thought her full of quality.
Back to the crowd she flitted, asking attention from all who viewed.
Her curves were present as I glanced askew.
To the music she swayed as the speakers played, working in her affections.
She retired to her hosts abode, looking back for one last glance as I sadly, took no chance and returned to my own deep recollections.
The music of the deep passions brought us back into our orbits.
I saw her in all her glory, outside her home of shores.
She commanded all attention to herself, a captain among petty lords.
We again danced and flirted despite the interference of pale, blonde ambition.
She dared me to cross her path and with passion, I unfortunately gave way to her infatuation.
Through this start and her art, I became completely and utterly smitten.
Having access to her charms and purring sounds, so much I considered her my kitten.
I watched her sleep after labors deep and thought myself her admirer.
She still returned after the sun’s raising to her home, with her true master none the wiser.
I thought myself fortunate but missed her greatly wanting her time like a foolish miser.
I acquired her affections but the time was mired in past reflections…
She quickly tired of my interactions, like all cats that called for admirations.
In the end, I let her walk into the arms of another fool,
But maybe I’m fortunate that I will not let myself become sad and cruel.
There’s always another kitten that needs attention…
I hope she’s content… luckily a door will open; hopefully I will not be so beholden,
Letting in another feline that will wander closer and not use me cruelly,
However, let me caress her with equal affection and maybe not so lewdly…
Perhaps she’ll not use fear and loathing then depend on me for cover. But we cannot wish ourselves well and true but that in the end; I’m glad that I was her lover.

Trigger Warnings: death of a minor, emotional abuse, gaslighting
RECAP
Original Post: April 18, 2024
My mother and father divorced when I was young. They had an oops baby together after my mom remarried, which rocked that marriage apart. That oops baby was my little sister. She died abruptly in an accident 4 years ago at only 14.
You know how people say the firsts after a death are the hardest? They don’t account for when there's no first to be had. When they should have been getting ready for prom but never will, it's a completely different pain. My mom and I were talking about it, we were both drinking, and she slipped that my bit of ashes I carry that I thought were my sister's were just regular ashes. Burnt wood. She already poured out my sister's ashes without me or my brother in the plot she bought with my stepdad.
She couldn't fathom my rage because to her, the sentiment and emotions are the important aspects, not that it's physically my sister. My anger is prompted by the lies and the fact those sentiments and emotions are attached to some thing NOT MY LITTLE SISTER, and I had no idea she cast her ashes on a plot she wouldn't have cared about. I screamed at her to get out of my house, locking the door behind her and calling up my stepdad to pick her up. I threw the necklace out the window to the front lawn, then regretted it and tore it out of her hands when she picked it up. As she would say it I "made a scene" and embarrassed her. I kept screaming and calling her a liar whenever she tried to explain herself or get back inside. I was threatening to call the cops on her when my stepdad finally showed up and took her away. He called me the next day and left a message saying that he wanted to talk about "what happened" and how he understands why I'm angry and hurt, he just wants to talk, but I need to talk to my mother too about this because she's a grieving mother (emphasis his) and my sister's death was a huge blow to the entire family and everyone is trying to regain our bearings still so some kindness is needed.
All I can think of right now is my mom's heartbroken face as I ripped my necklace with my "sister's ashes" out of her hands, or the way she turned away from me crying as my stepdad ushered her into the car. I called her names, I let my pain and rage take over me. But I can't get over the lies. 4 years of thinking my necklace had my sister, of thinking she was right by my heart, and it all came undone because my mom had too much to drink. How long would she have let me think this? How long would the lie continue?

OOP on how she figured out that her mother was lying to her
CenterofChaos: Yea your mother is grieving. But you, her very living child, are too. Having your mother lie to you about something important is going to get an emotional reaction.
What you do is up to you. But I wouldn't let her frame this as embarrassing her or that she's a victim in any way. She lied about it, she got drunk and tattled on herself, these are the consequences of her own actions.
OOP: It was an absolute mistake on her part that she even said it. We were talking about prom season and how hard it can be to be reminded of things that my sister would have loved. Then she started to say "I start crying before I even reach the cemetery sometimes" and she named it by name. I started flipping then and was like "what cemetery? Why that cemetery?" in a sort of why are we talking about cemeteries when we're talking about her way.
I kept pushing her for an explanation and that's when the whole thing came out.

Update: Overreacted to the true fate of my little sister's remains: April 26, 2024

I gave my mother an ultimatum of either telling my brother and father, or I will. She refused to, because "you reacted so horribly." And she told me not to tell because "You're doing this to hurt me and you're just going to hurt them."
So I told them. I sat my dad and brother down and explained that the necklaces didn't have the right ashes in them. I've never seen my dad break like that, and I've never heard my brother scream at me like that. He was angry that I knew before him and didn't immediately tell because "this is shit you tell me, you needed to tell me, we tell each other everything!", but he started crying and apologizing to me, admitting he's just so mad about what Mom did and he can't handle it.
So I guess that's clearly something else me and my brother share, we get overwhelmed initially before cooler heads prevail.
My dad looked gutted but he was clearly trying to piece himself back together. He said a lot of the same other people had said to me on my other post: "we can get some of the dirt from the plot where she was scattered, the necklace has the meaning we attribute to it and she's still with us even if her body hasn’t been physically with us."
I feel bad because some of it my mom said (ie the bit about the necklace being important even without her ashes in it) but I was able to accept that much easier from him. Maybe because he didn't lie to me for four years and drop a bomb on me out of nowhere because I pulled apart a lie. He held my brother and I as we cried, and he apologized for the pain, and he said it wasn't fair that I had to be the adult when my mother should have told all of us a lot sooner.
Dad's going to try to talk to my step-father to find the plot because my mom has been refusing to talk to us anymore, not answering messages or picking up the phone. Her social media has even gone dark. He's going to find out where the plot is and go to the site. I don't know if I could if it were up to me. It just feels like the final bit of proof that this fucked up nightmare is real and my sister is mixed with dirt and rocks and grass of an unmaintained and unvisited plot.
My mom and I always had some issues, but that's normal. This is worse than anything, and we had a rough patch when I came out that we didn't even talk, but we mended fences after. I can't see ever forgiving her, not with how she dropped this on me, blamed me for my reaction, and left me to do what she should have done. To top it off, she won't even show the decency to explain why or even talk to me. When we were discussing cremation, it was agreed we would all get a necklace with the ashes.
My mind keeps going over things that just didn’t add up fully, times she almost slipped or things that make complete sense now. She almost left behind her necklace on a trip and didn't freak out like I would have, because she knew where my sister was the whole time. She volunteered to be the one to separate the ashes and gave dad "the rest". I assume those ashes are the same as ours, fake.
God this whole thing just makes me want to curl up in a hole and never see the light of day again. I've been on and off crying all week without being able to stop, or just so angry I could scream. In the middle of my damn workday and suddenly I'm rushing to the bathroom to hide the fact I'm breaking all over again because I can't stop my thoughts. I quit smoking after my sister died but I picked it right back up again. My dad has been calling me every day to check in on me and remind me of how much he loves me and how much my brother loves me. I think he's afraid. My brother has come over each day since the talk with his girlfriend to make sure I eat something.
I don't know how to end this post. I feel lost and like I don't know anything anymore. I feel like a burden because my dad and brother are both dealing with the revelation too but they're clearly thinking of me and checking in on me. I'm going to look into grief counseling but the therapist I saw after my sister died isn't practicing anymore and my insurance isn't accepted by a lot of therapists. I try to remind myself that my little sister wouldn't have minded so much becoming woven into a tapestry of grass and flowers, and that I can visit her once we know where she was cast and make sure her site is always beautiful.
Thank you to everyone that helped me and shared their own perspectives and stories. I really appreciate it.

OOP: It's my mother and step-father's plot. If trying through my step father fails, I'll try that. I didn't think I could just call up and say "is there an empty plot sectioned for the so and so family" but it's worth trying.

----NEW UPDATE----

Update #2: May 10, 2024
This has probably been the worst month of my life in years. Sorry to the mod for so many posts.
I'm going to start with the minor stuff that's been happening or whatever because my head just feels like a brick. I got a promotion I'd been aiming for before everything. My boss did tell me I had already got it before this all happened and it was held off on announcing so I could have time to process before I had to adjust to the new job requirements. I couldn't even feel proud. I know a month ago I would have but I feel numb. I'm working a lot more hours now than normal, usually about 6am to 7pm, give or take. Paycheck looks nice I guess. My dad keeps telling me I need to work less, so does my brother, but my job is one that engages my mind enough that I'm nearly brain dead by the time I’m home which is nice.
I'm non-binary and prefer they/them pronouns but she/her are not offensive. Realized belatedly that people were calling me that.
I started drinking more than usual. After blacking out one night I let my dad take it all and I haven’t bought more. I don’t think I've ever gotten blackout before so it's terrifying to hear about the night but have barely any recollection of it.
About my sister: My mother finally responded to my brother, and according to him she was a wreck. All tears. All apologies. All "You have to understand!"
There must be something wrong with me because I look at her and I want to hurt her. I want to break her heart, I want to make a spectacle of her disgusting behavior, I want to ruin her life. I think part of me recognizes that's why I'm not so overly cautious about details, but at the same time I can't do it. The rational part of my mind kicks in and I realize that it wouldn't do anything but make it worse. I'd just feel guilty and sick after the brief moment of satisfaction. But then I think to myself, "So how and why could you do that to us? For years?"
Her and my brother had a much better relationship than her and I ever did. She still did that to him. Like yeah, Dad and her never got better after the divorce, and after the affair they struggled with even coparenting for a multitude of reasons. Her and I have had our issues. But the bond between her and my brother has always been strong, or at least used to be, and she did it to HIM of all people.
She tried telling my brother that she did it impulsively, in a fit of pique, but when he pressured her about why she was the one to volunteer to handle filling the necklaces, she said that it was because she was okay with it at first but then when she saw the ashes, she didn’t want to "destroy" her further. Her word, there. Destroyed. Like the relationship between her living children? Like our trust in her? Like the memorial we agreed upon for my sister? I don't know how to feel. If I even trust her story. But her wording makes me feel like it was planned. God yet again it becomes an accidental revelation, where she tried to uphold a lie but got caught and that's how the truth came to light.
I managed to talk to the funeral director. My sister's fingerprints are part of their records. I'm going to get her touch tattooed, but I found a means of getting that on a necklace so my brother and dad can have that if they don't want a tattoo. Still struggling to get in contact with the owners of the cemetery. A lot of unanswered emails and voicemails. I've also been looking for therapists and counselors in my area, or ones doing telehealth. I have an appointment upcoming but I'm nervous.
My stepfather has stepped back. He set a boundary that he won't talk to us until we agree to discuss this without "blaming anyone" and anytime the conversation starts going toward asking about motive or who knew what and when, he says the conversation needs to end. He's even hung up on us before and threatened the cops on me, even implying it'd be deserved after I did the same to my mother.
EDIT: I tried Findagrave and she's not there, same for my mother and step dad.
Editor’s Note: findagrave is a website for the world’s largest gravesite collection which allows people to find their loved ones’ burial sites all over the world.

Responsible-End7361: Suggest you tell stepdad "OK, fine. But my mother better not try to contact me in any way for anything else until the ashes issue is fully resolved, so tell her she is now down 2 kids, maybe 3."
Magerimoje: Regarding contacting the cemetery -
Leave a voicemail saying you want to purchase a plot. If anyone listens to the voicemail, they'll usually call back ASAP for a sale. When they call back, tell them you want to purchase a plot near your parents and give your mom & step dad's names and ask what their plot numbers are. Once you have the plot numbers, hang up and block their number so they can't keep calling trying to sell you shit you definitely do not want. But that might get the info faster. This is how I found the location of my infant cousin.
Also, some cemeteries have plot numbers and location maps online now. Worth checking.

2024.05.17 05:54 Visual-Bumblebee-257 Once Upon a Time...

Once upon a time there lived a girl named Gessica McEarls. She came from a family with very little. One day the father left to go to another castle far far away, to live with his new wife. The mother was left all alone to raise her daughter, Gessica. The Mother tried to find work, but because she had a reputation for telling tall tales and loving ale and spirits too much, she was never successful. The King took pity on some in his Kingdom, and despite Gessica's reputation, the King made sure that they had enough food to survive, garments to keep them warm and straw to make beds to lay their heads on.
Many years went by, and the daughter was now married with her own children. Gessica had two daughters. She lived in a one-room moss-covered hut in a small shire hours away from the Castle. This shire was designated by the King to be where those that received his generosity would dwell.
Gessica made meager attempts to find a job. She found herself partaking of the spirits a bit too frequently, just like her mother. Gessica suffered from the same affliction as Pinocchio. The more lies she told, the longer her nose grew. Oh, but she loved to tell tall tales. The taller, the better. The tales were about nothing specific, she simply found lying to be enjoyable. It could be about anything and anyone. One day, a servant walking past Gessica's hut overheard her telling a very horrible tall tale. She had heard the rumors around the Kingdom that Gessica was never to be trusted. The servant knew that Gessica could never tell the truth, even with her nose growing with every lie. The servant went straight to the Kings Regent and told him that Gessica was now spreading lies about the Queen. This enraged the King!
The King asked his son, Prince Charming to visit the home of Gessica McEarls with a message. The next morning the Prince set out on his journey from the Kingdom to the shire. He knew the shire because he was often tasked with bringing a harvest of grain, fruits, vegetables and garments to the destitute. After many hours on horseback, he arrived. He jumped off his horse and headed straight to the hut. His servant tended to his prized horse. He knocked loudly on the door. A child opened the door, dropped her doll that was in her hand and said "Oh it's the Prince, Prince Charming, welcome Your Royal Highness" as she curtsied. Gessica ran to the door, grabbed the Prince by his arm and pulled him inside. The Prince had never been treated this way and was not pleased. He said in a booming voice "Ma'am, let go of my arm AT ONCE!" Gessica let go of his arm and gestured him to a chair next to the table where they ate. The Prince explained that the King had been advised that she was speaking ill of the Queen. He told her that the King was furious and would give her only one chance to redeem herself from destruction and that she was to never lie again. He said that if she did, the punishment would be harsh. Her mouth would be sewn shut, and her fingers bent. Gessica thought and thought while the Prince stared at her, and she finally said "OK, your Royal Highness, I will never tell a lie again!" With that proclamation her nose grew and grew and grew. The Prince stood up, and yelled 'You lied! Now you will come with me! We will have your children tended to while you serve your punishment!"
Prince Charming grabbed Gessica, put her on a horse that was tied to his. Her hands and feet were bound with the King's finest fabric. They made the long journey back to the Kingdom. When they arrived, the Prince immediately took her to the King. Gessica curtsied as best as she could and cried "Your Majesty, I didn't mean to tell a tale! Please forgive me!" The King stood up and looked down on this poor wretched soul. He declared that she was to serve a severe punishment for her lies about his beloved wife, the Queen. The punishment would be to have her mouth sewn shut so she could no longer speak lies and her fingers bent so she could no longer write her tall tales. She will live as a servant in the castle for one year. After the year served, she will be brought back to her hut. The King knew that Gessica was a horrible mother and wife. He punished her further by taking her children and husband away. He granted an upstanding family within the Kingdom the honor of raising her daughters. They would be surrounded by love, nurturing, respect and given the attention that they so deserved. The girls would be taught how to be fair maidens. Gessica's husband was granted an immediate divorce by the King. During that year, he found his confidence and fell in love with a beautiful princess from another Kingdom.
The children lived happily ever after. The husband lived happily ever after. However, Gessica did not.
Gessica never told or wrote a lie again. She lost her children and her husband. No one trusted her. She lived her life all alone.
THE END

2024.05.17 05:38 Oop-Juice Mom caught me purging and called me weak.

I'm just so used to her being like this at this point. She was sleeping so I thought it was safe to purge, only for her to bang at the bathroom door demanding I open up. I do so and she immediately asks "why am I purging". There's nothing I can really do to lie, so I just keep quiet at this point and let her rant at me. She started loudly praying for me in a really condescending way (She's extremely religious) and then said that "don't you know it's weak people who purge?" "You go to the gym four times a week, you work out, why are you purging? Weak men purge to lose weight, strong men lift weights and do cardio" (Casually ignoring the fact that so many of the top bodybuilders and the gym community in general has men who struggle with undiagnosed eating disorders). I eventually couldn't take it any longer and just cut her off and asked her if she was done talking. I told her, "you find out your son has an eating disorder and this is how you treat him?" To which she fucking said, "you don't have an eating disorder, it's just your impulsive mindset , when did this start?"
I've had binge eating disorder since I was a child and was almost obese, in Grade 10, bullying from others got so bad I became extremely self-conscious about my weight and appearance and developed anorexia that got so bad I got put into pseudo- forced recovery by my uncle. This made me start chewing and spitting my food, and now I'm Ana-b/p. I was fasting just previously, and broke it by eating three persons worth of spaghetti, then I rushed to the bathroom to quickly puke my guts out while my mom was asleep so it wouldn't cause any issues cause nobody else was in the house. Then she wakes up and blames me for all my problems. She's done this for almost all my mental health problems, she didn't even believe I could be mentally ill until I tried to fucking kill myself a few months ago which is when she finally agreed to put me into therapy.
I have severe body dysmorphia, everything about my appearance makes me feel fat, even though I'm technically at a healthy BMI. People around me tell me I'm good-looking, but if I were to rate myself, I would genuinely put myself at a 3 or 4. I have genuinely considered saving up to get a shit ton of plastic surgery done so I can finally escape being ugly. I feel like the only way for me to cure this is to become "beautiful" by being skinny and fit, which is why I work out, but my eating disorder still stays with me because of how I view myself
It's insane because when she caught me self-harming (which I've stopped now) her response was infinitely more compassionate. She didn't even shame me for my scars, but god forbid her firstborn son have a motherfucking eating disorder.
I'm not Pro-ED. I hate my fucking eating disorder, I hate that every fucking time I purge the death clock for my internal organs and my teeth speeds up, I hate that I'll eventually just fucking vomit blood, I hate that the alternative eating disorder is to starve and die or binge and become obese like I was in my childhood and be bullied for it again. But my mom doesn't even make me feel human. I feel like I'm just a fucking thorn in her side and a failure of a firstborn son.
I just wanted to purge some spaghetti, study, and go to bed, now I feel like even more shit than I usually do.
Bonus: She's a psychiatric nurse btw 😃

2024.05.17 05:34 FUColonel My memories are tough

I drove by her house today. Just sat in the car for a while staring at her window. I just wanted to feel close to her.
I had a really good pistachio shake. And my first thought was I wanted her to try it...
It's like I forget shes gone sometimes.
I still open my bedroom door and expect to find her...
I built the vanity! It's beautiful. Empty but Beautiful. God her taste was brilliant.
I had to put Berlina in the psch ward on mother day. Just brought back soo many memories. My mom will hate me forever.
What happened to dealing with this together... What happened to us against the world.
I wish I could beg her to come back. All she ever had to do was come back. I hate this.
What kind of world doesn't let you be with the one you love. It's unacceptable.
I miss her so much.

Chapter 240: Private Gallery
My, how quaint.
An underground maze.
If it wasn’t dark towers laden with bats, it was underground mazes filled to the brim with all the upholstery recovered from the Summer Solstice Festival’s annual bonfire.
Here beneath a barn utilised as little more than a cellar door, black was still the new black. An unending panorama of dark embroidery and furnishings to match any budding empress’s humble beginnings, ensuring I remained busy offering all the slightly different variations of wrinkling my nose could perform.
The porcelain vases featuring motifs of the wrong season? A mild scrunch. The candelabras burning below 98% of their height instead of being immediately replaced? Hints of a sneeze. The golden silk carpets clearly stolen from the cathedrals of the Holy Church? … A nod of my head.
But what I could have no complaints about was a door still swinging upon its hinges.
Poetry in motion, it painted the picture of a baroness desperate in her haste to stumble over her dress as much as humanly possible. Excellent news. We didn’t need to break another door today.
A surprise.
After all, the baroness seemed intent on breaking everything herself.
Bwoomph.
The sound of a heavy object being dropped came crashing through.
And then another. And another.
A commotion to rival the scuffling of two rival sons at our reception hall. The cadence of chairs, small tables and then backsides falling to the ground as insults became slaps and slaps became a scene of disgrace, all the while my sisters and I watched and snacked on the walnuts.
Sadly for the baroness, I chose not to stand idly by as she roughly squirrelled away her stolen possessions. And neither did Coppelia, who rubbed her hands together in gleeful expectation.
It was still the most innocent gesture she’d ever made.
“Should we let her gather up the loot pile some more?” she asked brightly.
I shook my head at once, my nose aching from the ceaseless wrinkling.
“Absolutely not. Even a moment is too long in this burrow.”
“We could double back and ominously stamp our feet to make her go faster, too.”
“Or we could merely offer our supervision instead. Come. It’s time to end our stay in the countryside. As well as this baroness’s grand misadventure.”
Already dreaming of my bed, I lightly pushed the door open.
A moment later, I was met by the sight of an adventurer’s most wanton dream come to life.
Within the centre of a bedroom chamber, chests laden with silver and gold crowns sat waiting for the first lout to claim as hardship expenses for chasing cats in an endless circle. The chests gleamed with an organised lustre, winking in unison as though counted and arranged to the coin.
It was a sight which contrasted with the desperate movements of the baroness.
Only brief snippets of her could be seen as she went to-and-fro in another room, accessed through a parted bookcase. Through the opening, I heard hints of calamity. Heavy banging as objects crashed to the floor, joined by the sound of ragged breathing to match a servant dashing up and down my bedroom tower to fetch grapes for me in quantities of one.
“Haah … haahh … hahhh …”
And now my curiosity was kindled.
Things worth more than chests of crowns. What could she possess, I wonder?
Sweeping past the gleaming pile of silver and gold, I made my way towards the parted bookcase, and then peeked through to see our baroness performing one last act of defiance.
With her golden hair as dishevelled as her dress, she was kneeling beside an assembled pile of what were unmistakably paintings. A veritable mountain of them, all framed in gilded brass. The scent of oil, watercolours and various pigments struck me more than any whiff of alcohol I’d experienced today.
Clearly a gallery of sorts. A secondary trove of treasure, but no less valuable. Rare paintings were worth their weight in silver and gold as much as any of the coins gathered in the chamber.
And also, to my horror, much easier to destroy.
“Haah … haahhh … hahhhhh …”
The baroness didn’t even notice our presence.
So absorbed was she in her final act of petulance, her only concern was to raise her feeble arms, weakened by all the disdain it required to gather so many heavy paintings in one spot.
All to set it alight.
With a look of desperation on her face, she raised a single candle, readying to set the oil upon the canvasses ablaze.
“Noooooope~”
“–Aah?!”
The same candle which was promptly plucked from her hand by Coppelia, who required no prompting to stop the destruction of precious treasure.
The baroness jolted in shock at Coppelia’s sudden appearance behind her, and even more so at the playful smile leaning towards her. A heartbeat later, she swiped at the candle, tearing away the topmost half. But it was too late.
The flame had already been extinguished.
“Noo … nooooooooooooo!!”
The baroness cupped her hands around the top, offering a tiny breath as she hoped to ignite it like the fading embers of a hearthfire.
She failed.
I took a step into the hidden gallery, ready to offer the coup de grâce to round off this minor detour into my countryside. A final reminder to my kingdom’s nobility, that whatever their rank, none were too lowly to be ignored.
“Ohhohohohohoho … how pitiable,” I said, my hand barely covering my lips. “Instead of a vain attempt to flee, you choose mindless destruction instead. I suppose I’ve no grounds to fault on this. You were wildly successful. Only that it was your own schemes which came to ruin.”
I gazed at the crumpled heap of the baroness as she turned around.
Her grey eyes widened as she viewed me.
All of a sudden, what colour remained upon her face drained to the point where if she threw herself on her bed, she’d be invisible against the white linen. Her only method of escape remaining.
It certainly wasn’t in the gurgling she made.
“Ah … n-no … wait …”
Her voice petered out, whatever words she spoke fading like a mousy squeak in the distance.
Ugh. The standards I endured.
Despite attempting a final act of spite, she didn’t even have enough vigour left in her to transfer that into the most cursory of insults.
“Now, this right here is what separates the barony from the city nobility,” I said, well and truly exasperated. “You may despise your peers, but know that Lady Tolent and Duke Valence at least performed their roles as expected. They were rude until the end. You’ve a considerable amount to learn.”
With a sigh, I took a step towards the mound of portraits.
Given what I’d seen so far, I doubted if any painting here was worth what the baroness deemed worthy enough to hide away like a dragon’s favoured treasure. But I was open to being pleasantly surprised.
Who knows? Perhaps she’d pilfered more than carpets from the Holy Church.
However–
“Wait!!!!!”
The baroness scrambled to her feet, arms raised as she blocked my path.
Despite her sudden burst of life, no colour returned to her face. It was like a ghoul raised as a puppet, desperately heeding the command of its owner.
“You … You can’t look!” she said, quivering. “None of this … none of this is for you!”
My mouth widened at the gall.
… Why, so she did have some insult left in her!
To insinuate I wasn’t worthy of judging these paintings was far more wounding than any generic disdain she could level against my superior wealth, standing, beauty and shape of my hair!
After all, I was exceptionally confident in my curating skills!
Anything less would see my own works being met by a chorus of snivelling! Amongst all who resided in my kingdom, it wasn’t traitors who were the most fearless to my ire! It was art critics!
“E-Excuse me! Rest assured that I’m more than capable of judging the qualities of any painting! When it comes to my assessment of art, my valuation leaves no detail unturned!”
Somehow, the baroness paled even more. Her eyes quivered like ponds in a gale.
A moment later–
“You can’t!!!!”
She threw herself at me.
A slow, lumbering tackle to match her anaemic state. I stepped to the side as she hurled herself past me, falling to a heap by Renise’s feet.
The maid looked down. She didn’t wear a single hint of animosity. Only pity and sorrow. Truly, she was too kind to ever have been in the nobility. I feared for her current role.
Still, I gave a sigh, before leaning over the mountain of paintings.
“Uwah~ this is a new one.”
As the light from the doorway fell upon it, Coppelia offered a hint of what was to be expected. She wore a peculiar expression, her smile oddly fixed as she gazed down at the nearest one to face upright.
I joined her.
And then–
“Hmm.”
I blinked as I assessed it.
A moment later, I glanced over those nearby. And then those nearby them.
Not only paintings. But portraits.
All featuring the same subject. A girl with long, dark hair and vivid eyes.
Many featured a dress hinting at a summer’s day. Shafts of golden sunlight was a common theme, along with a backdrop of a pristine tea table, laden with a familiar array of confectionery. Carrot madeleines and carrot cakes. The same ones I tactically placed for everyone else to eat at my mandatory tea parties.
Indeed. That made sense.
Since this was assuredly my tea table being presented. And that girl with a pleasant smile, unblemished features, a regal bearing and warmth radiating from her very presence was me.
I dug inside the mountain of portraits, lifting up another at random.
Yes.
It was me. Again.
In fact–
Every single portrait in this heap was of me.
At least a hundred or more. All framed and recently placed upon the walls of a hidden room. A private gallery to a baroness–one who was a keen painter. A corner had been transformed into a small workshop. Unlike the one found in her tavern, this one was far more organised. Easels and brushes were neatly tidied away, cared for as much as the paintings that had been created here.
“Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!”
Ignoring the cry of despair behind me, I gazed at the heap of paintings, hand against my cheek as I considered the sight.
A short hum was all I required.
I turned to the stricken baroness upon the floor, her mouth wide as she waited for my judgement.
And then–
“Oho …”
I began to laugh.
“Ohoho … ohhohohoho …”
But this was no mocking laugh which spilled from my lips.
No … it was a laugh of pure delight.
“Ohhhohohoohhohohoohhohohoo!!”
True, nothing here was fit to be placed upon the Royal Villa’s walls. But few paintings were. This didn’t mean they were without merit. On the contrary, even a surface level impression of my face was worth more crowns than even a mosaic of the Grand Duchess completed by a thousand master painters.
But while better artists than her had painted me, few had painted more.
And this I could use.
Why … with this many paintings, I could fill up Soap Island with my imagery!
I could ensure that every tunnel possessed my permanent smile and watching eyes!
No matter where the soap miners hid, seeking respite from their days of hard labour and repentance, they could be met by the sight of my angelic face reminding them that I know and judge their every moment of unsupervised rest!
How … How wonderful!!!!
“A 7/10,” I declared. “Individually, they range between passable and acceptable. Except this one. There is something wrong with the nose. But when taken as an entire collection, the overall composition is greater than the sum of its parts. Alone, each is a verse describing a princess forced to adhere to her mandatory tea parties even as summer blooms a window away. But together, it is the sonata of a princess who continues in her duties without care to repetition or fatigue, reminding those whose hands falter when they should be mining soap that I do not rest, and so neither will they. Not an overly complex message, but then I wouldn’t wish it to be lost.”
Thus, I clapped my hands together in satisfaction.
“... Indeed, I shall put these portraits to excellent use!”
I waited for the gasp of relief which usually came with any of my scores which didn’t plunge into negative numbers. The baroness would not be destroyed by the world of fine art. Only ignored. The baseline criticism. She’d survive.
Providing, of course, that she ever woke from her stupor.
Looking down, I was appalled to see all the light had vacated her eyes.
Far from offering her gratitude, she lay collapsed in an untidy heap upon the floor, her body prone and motionless, her expression locked in morbid embarrassment, and with no signs of life other than the trail of drool which began to leak from the edge of her lips.
“Wow~” said Coppelia, leaning down to poke her cheeks. “You managed to kill her with just the laugh.”
I was appalled.
If this was the reaction to my satisfaction, I may as well be disappointed! That was always easier!
“C-Coppelia! I didn’t kill her! … Why, anyone who dies looking so slovenly would come back to life just to fix themselves!”
Also kneeling beside the fallen baroness, Renise gently shook the girl’s shoulder. Only a weak gurgling came out, wishing for an eternal night.
After a moment, Renise sent a slightly pained smile towards me.
“Um, by any chance … do you not have any thoughts regarding seeing so many portraits of yourself?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well … do you not find it odd?”
I looked at her in puzzlement.
“... No? Why would that be odd? Isn’t it natural that people would wish to paint me? I’m a princess. And an excellent one, too. Better me than a fruit bowl, surely.”
Renise blinked … just before raising her hand to her lips in a small giggle.
“Yes, I suppose you’re right.”
Words which advanced her on my family’s career ladder exponentially. I nodded profusely.
Mreoow.
At least until an unexpected sound filled the air.
I looked around in puzzlement.
“... Did I hear a cat?”
“Mmh~” Coppelia pointed towards the faux-vault door we’d passed. “More than one. There’s a whole bunch being kept nearby. It smells terrible.”
I threw up my arms in exasperation.
Why, no wonder the baroness sought the bliss of unconsciousness! It was to evade my utter disbelief!
The absolute state of my kingdom’s schemers!
First Trierport! Now Hartzwiese! To think it was an epidemic!
Just what were these people doing?! Truly, it’s one thing to undermine my kingdom. But that was a pale crime compared to their feat of singlehandedly fuelling the existence of the Adventurer’s Guild!
“It must be Tantrum and Peppy,” said Renise, far less aggrieved. “As well as all the others.”
I directed my bewilderment towards her instead.
“What is a … Tantrum and a Peppy?”
“They’re the names of the deputy guildmaster’s cats. The ones she was looking for. We should ensure they’re rescued before the night is done.”
I shook my head rapidly. No, no, no, no.
“I am not rescuing cats.”
“Hm? … Why not? Isn’t that the job of adventurers?”
“No, that’s the job of drunkards who mistake the commissions plastered on walls for requests to save a kidnapped princess. Besides, cats hardly need rescuing. Whatever bonds they find themselves in, they’re more than capable of slipping free by their own endless guile.”
Indeed, our only danger was that we tripped over a lazing cat hidden in the shade!
It’s a wonder they hadn’t escaped already. By the time we were done, I fully expected to see cats causing anarchy as they reclaimed the town, mewing from rooftop and windowsill with barely held contempt for the very people who fed them!
… Why, they should be ashamed!
“I see …” said Renise, with a hum of uncertainty. “Well, I suppose they’re known for their self-sufficiency. But even so, I feel that we shouldn’t leave them in the chance that their artfulness fails. There’s a very dangerous forest between here and the town.”
Coppelia clapped her hands together.
Her interest in the baroness severed, she leaned towards her next source of amusement, her smile alive with all the usual colours of the mischief rainbow.
“That’s right~ cats are pretty smart, right? There’s no way they’ll be caught by the slobbering horrors devoid of mercy and compassion which I kept from eating us.”
“Coppelia, you frightened them away with sticks.”
“Exactly. Sticks thrown using opposable thumbs which cats lack. And that means they know where they are on the food tree. They’re gonna stay here where it’s safe, waiting for the dumb humans to come fetch them like they always do, even though cats do nothing but hiss and scratch at them.”
I gave a cautious nod … all the while leaning further away.
“Yes, well, I’m glad you agree. We’ve no need to lift a finger to rescue them.”
“Mmh~ but even so, aren’t you willingly leaving gold on the table?”
“Excuse me?”
“I bet every cat has a poster somewhere up in the Adventurer’s Guild. That’s a whole bunch of change you’re leaving lying around that could be used for our apple strudel budget.”
I was aghast.
Not only at the suggestion our funds went entirely towards the apple strudels she ate before I could even touch them … but also because I knew exactly what Coppelia was doing!
My keen eyes could see through her deep subterfuge!
True, it was only prudent to ensure our personal finances were as secure as possible … but even so!
I had my pride!
In my darkest dreams, I still recalled the shame of rescuing a warehouse of cats in Trierport! There was no scenario in which I’d willingly suffer such humiliation again! Once my dignity was stripped, what was I, but a beautiful maiden without equal?
Indeed, I had no doubt in my mind!
I, Juliette Contzen, 3rd Princess to the Kingdom of Tirea, would absolutely not resort to saving lost cats!
“The Adventurer’s Guild will never be happier,” said Coppelia brightly. “I bet that in less than a day, a literal army of adventurers will be swooping in to claim all the free cats for themselves. They’ll be everywhere. Literally everywhere. Productivity will be at its highest. You’ll be actively supporting the livelihoods of all those guys you see drinking themselves into a coma!”
Renise blinked, then looked at me with an expression filled with new warmth.
“Oh, I see! You intend to leave these cats behind to be collected by new adventurers. That’s very thoughtful of you. I understand now. This must be how high-ranked adventurers help their juniors progress and gain confidence in their skills.”
Renise filled the ensuing silence with her smile.
And then–
She slowly waved a hand in front of my face.
“... Miss Coppelia, why isn’t she responding?”
“Oh, don’t worry about it. Her cogs get stuck every now and again.”
“I see … ? Should we do something or … ?”
“Mmh~ I’ll scoop up the striped ones! You get the normal ones!”
