Hello,
So in looking for some advice, I am a firefighter that is both retained and wholetime and I earn as a standard salary around 40K per annum.
I have a load of qualifications from this job that I have been invited to use outside of the fire service.
There is a private hire safety company that has invited me to join them to help cover shifts on different sites providing technical rescue and gas monitoring capabilities, something that is effectively my bread and butter.
They are happy to pay £20 and hour, standard shifts are ten hours. They have suggested that I would be self employed and just send them an invoice as and when I've done work. I have two friends also doing this work with the same company and it has proven to be a nice job that works alongside our current career paths.
The company has work lined up all year long and have asked me to look ahead and see where I can help, should I wish to join them.
In effect I could earn another £400 a week (pre tax) doing this job. More if I opt to cover at a weekend.
What is going to be the best route for me to announce this income?
Self assessment to start with? I am unfamiliar with the SA system, would I be able to do it all myself using my payslips from the brigade and then my invoices? Or is it more complicated than that?
What would I be able to claim for if anything?
Do I need to pay NI on top of what I pay from my PAYE income?
Do I need an accountant or is this pretty straightforward stuff?
It's a very good opportunity for myself to maximise my earnings to provide for my family, really want to make the most of it and not lose out on a penny where I can.

Howdy there all! I am an experienced DM of 8 years now, player of 10 years. I've run and read multiple different systems like Zweihander, Stars Without Number, D&D 4e, and more, but this here game is about 5th Edition D&D. 5e falls flat in a lot of categories, but it's the best for finding players. This game will be in mostly vanilla 5e, but I'll be making home-brew magic items, monsters, and abilities. My favorite fantasy is the classic d20 fantasy. Fighting Dragons & Archliches. Crawling through old dungeons and learning about the history of the world. My specific setting is a Country referred to as "The Grand Theocracy of Cor'Quessir", a sudo-germanic inspired land (mostly for the naming convention & social structure excluding how the government works).

You however, you have taken up residence in the town of Kleinstadt. A small out of the way village that sees very little conflict aside from farmers feuding over who has better produce. Most everyone knows each other. Bechtold, the local blacksmith. Mostly, he makes horse shoes and nails, but not long ago an order came from the Emperor themself declaring all smithies meet a certain quota of swords by the winter solstice or lose their guild rank. Supposedly, Cor'Quessir is on the brink of war with it's neighbor Vaedyl. But that is big politics, and little of it concerns you right now. What *does* concern you however is the rumors sweeping the town. A town over, a man killed a merchant in his own store over a squabble when suddenly the streets grew misty. A shaded figure, garbed in red robes appeared. He was flanked by his minions, their backs hunched, bodies covered in burlap. They took the body and dropped something into the mans hands, exchanging words. He then returned to the mist as it lifted. The Merchant and mysterious figures, gone without a trace.
You hear the other farmers and miners of Kleinstadt whispering about this over their drinks this evening, excited for some new gossip. But what about you? Maybe you're just a farmer or miner. Maybe an apprentice blacksmith or a member of another guild. Maybe you're a mercenary. Whatever you are, you crave more. But why? You have a place to rest. You get a meal each dawn and dusk. Why does the world call to you?
This is gonna be a modular campaign. So I'll be running "seasons" and we'll take a short break between seasons (maybe 2 weeks). Each season will be a full story, but they will all connect to each other. The end of each season will be neat points to change characters, or give you a good point to say "That was fun, but I think I'm good for a while." and leave the game. (you are ofc welcome to leave whenever you like if you do not feel like the game is to your liking or style)

TLDR:
My friend has diagnosed but untreated BPD, and I was trying to support until she got therapy, but 2 weeks turned into 6 months, therapy isn't treating her at all, she's gone through numerous therapist, and it still seems like the burden is landing on me because of it.
I don't know how to help her anymore. I need solutions for ppl actively suicidal in a country that doesn't have the resources or expertise. Are there online resources for this situation? Support groups? Helplines? She speaks English. She's also trans, and fears medical neglect and abuse like she's already experienced before. She's from northern Europe. I'm reluctant to say more for her safety, but Im out of options.

6 months ago she imploded her main friendgroup by upsetting the owner of her main source of socialization (a private chat)- and she has been spiraling since. This condition is just so destructive and it hurts the one with it the most. My father had it, but he doesn't have half the self awareness or self accountability my friend is trying to.
I have a lot of compassion for everyone dealing with this, and this situation is just so frustrating because her healthcare sucks and she should have gotten treatment years ago.
Some venting below cause I feel really hollow atm.
To her the solution is finding someway to un-implode the friendship with the chat owner, but to me she needs serious medical help... I've said this since it happened, but nothing different. She wasn't even happy before this implosion, this just pushed her over the edge. She IS in therapy right now and they aren't helping. She's still spiraling and her health system still isn't giving her the care she needs even though she has been diagnosed with BPD, PTSD, Autism, and Depression. I have everything but her BPD, and that tbh does make me also feel she deserves help, cause no one ever helped me.
But the attention she is asking of her remaining friends is more than we can manage. I'm the only trauma informed person who knows anything about helping depressed ppl, so it's all been on me. The others go quiet. I only meant to be this involved until she got therapy because she had no one else and she was suicidal and self harming, but 2 weeks turned into 6 months and nothing is better.
I know it's not my obligation, I know I'm not a therapist, but between my overblown sense of responsibility from OCD and my compulsive caretaking (working on healing this), and honestly my basic empathy, what was I suppose to do? How do I handle this? I can't in good conscience just leave her like this. I desperately need help and solutions.
If my Dad wasn't how he was I wouldn't have been able to help her, because I dissociated away all my anger decades ago to survive living with him . I'm not grateful for it, I've been healing this, but it helps when someone vulnerable is lashing out at you and you can't safely retaliate. I feel like my dad made me this receptacle for any person who is volatile enough to pour all their externalization into me, and suddenly way too much of my life becomes about managing their pain, their insecurity, their fear, because they literally do not know how to do it themself, they have no proper medical care to help them figure out how, no one modeled it for them, no one cares for them. No one else is doing what they are suppose to do as professionals, as adults, so I'm doing what I feel like must be done to the best of my ability. Because tbh... who else will? That was my whole childhood, and I feel like I chose the worst time to realize this about myself, because now I'm knee deep and I don't know how to confront this.
It's also not fair I am always the one left rolling with the chaos. It's just as unfair that she's left alone. If more ppl did what I am doing (especially y'know, like the actual medical professionals) shed have help by now.
It isn't fair to her or me. She acts way too much like my father, and it's triggering for me a lot, but atleast she's trying to be better and get help, they couldn't have a better candidate for this and they are just being useless to her recovery and I'm just tired of the unfairness of it all.

I dont know whats going on, when it gets in to boot manager, it says its not compatible for windows 11 and memory could not be written, Theres a corrupt file in the boot manager (which i dont get how as ive used two usb sticks and its still giving this error) Or i havent read the windows terms of service and cannot continue, canceling the installation then bsod.
The cpu works, storage, but everything points at ram? Would it be the right measure to replace the ram or is it something else?

Hey ya people, I am in need of an advice again. I am trying to make white chocolate raspberry mousse and then pour mirror glaze on top , but it never seems to work okay. Here’s what i do: 4 sheets of gelatin blooming for 250grams of frozen raspberries blended into purée and then i put it in a mold in the freezer. For the mousse i do it that way, Melt 400grams white chocolate with 200ml of heavy cream and then beat 2 eggs with sugar and 2 gelatin sheets and i mix everything together and put in the fridge to freeze. Ive tried freezing it for more than 12 hours (checked my freezer temp -10), but still the mousse was always kinda soft and the moment i pour my glaze (37 degrees) the edges gets mushy . Is there another recipe for better mousse or what i am doing wrong in mine?

 | Hello I am having a weird issue, when I first installed the radio the backup camera worked fine, and had a cleaner view. Now it’s all zoomed in and looks terrible. When I shift from R to D the camera switches back to the normal view and goes away after I start driving for a second. Radio unit is an Android 13. - I was enmeshed with my Mum during childhood, a close relationship we developed to protect against my threatening, abusive Dad. My sense of identity or self was merged with my Mum; I developed poor boundaries with myself and others. This relationship led to challenges of individuation during adolescence and adulthood: a confused and undeveloped sense of self.
- I inhibited myself out of fear of rejection, threats, abuse, dismissal, devaluing from both my parents
- I learnt to put others' needs ahead of my own, and that my needs and feelings were 'less than', wrong, intolerable, or dangerous. Expressing my feelings led to instability. I was shamed and guilt-tripped for self-expression. My parent's self-worth was so dependent on what I thought of them. They were so fragile in some respects, that I learnt to prop them up first, putting my needs aside.
- I learnt to seek approval from my demanding parents, primarily out of fear of rejection. I learnt to hide my preferences, needs and values in order to gain some sense of 'being okay' from them, based on their value systems. I developed a habit of seeking their approval and recognition based on external factors such as my achievements, or the extent to which I measured up to their expectations
- I've always had this perfectionistic streak, living up to my parent's exceptions, I guess. I put so much pressure on myself to keep going, going, going and get to the absolute zenith of possibilities, that I can really do damage to my health. I - ironically / paradoxically? - also take care of my health as best I can (perfectly!!), but I could really reduce the amount of work I take on, and the standards I set for myself in so many realms of life. The reduction of stress would be so beneficial.

I am back from a ban fallout. For me, being banned from AOAI is like being banned from church. The club is closed. Injustice is subjective. What can someone in the wrong do? I did some thinking.
Here is something to share.
Waywards may need validation. Some wanted such validation from outside the relationship, because “of course you find me pretty and sexy, you love me!”, some thought/said. Like we don’t believe the praise our mom or grandma told us “you’re handsome “. Yeah, bullshit, we may have thought. The reality is you’re probably handsome. You will find those who love you are the first ones to tell you the truth, whether nice or harsh. “So, you are lazy!” …What a honest grandmother summary of my academic performance at some point. They still said that in a gentle and loving voice while handing me biscuits.
Why do we seek validation from those who know us less? Maybe to remove the love aspect, being judged purely on our persona. Be it physical attractiveness, or intellectual awing, to physical performance, invented charisma, trying newly found confidence that would not fit the existing relationship’s dynamics.
I used lot of persona facets, I wanted to become a successful lover. It was a challenge. I was hunting for love.
I was also enjoying my newly found self. Re-found. Things I had hidden for decades. The creativity needed a muse. It was also a playground of experiments.
I found the dynamics fresh, anew. I was trying to be someone else than I was with my BP. I wasn’t really “faking”, the words and actions with that other person were mine, yet I never expressed them like that to my BP.
It is as if I could be that person I wanted to be. In my past/present relationship I wanted to be more, but couldn’t change or risk the present relationship. When sometimes I tried, but failed. My artistic comments or pretty words fell flat.
In the affair, my poems were creating fire in heart.
It is a mix of Muse and receptiveness. Offer and demand both at high level. The AP use me as much as I used the AP, in that demand/offer dynamics.
We sometimes have to “pay” or “chip in” something to get what we want/need in return. Be it giving sex to receive adoration. For example I may like to meet new people to discover their life, their world, discussions. That passionate me. But the expectation from me would be romance and sex. Nobody wants to put the effort into me as mere friend. Lack of time. I attract by what I have to offer. I feel disgusting, but everyone is the same, conscious or not.
Some books cover the paradox of relationships: safe and stable yet boring. Fill many needs, yet some are forever impossible to fulfil.
I agree with some of these books, that today’s relationship look more dependent on each other than ever before for some of the needs. Safety yet romance. Stability yet excitement.
Besides the not so obvious discovery of what one’s needs are, expressing them safely is an impossible mission. And finding a mutual solution yet many more steps. Be it creativity, more social bonds, adventurous sports, uncommon vacations, business enterprises, etc.
How much of ourselves have we let sleeping, living over it, rug-swept under a carpeted convenience of a relationship.
The “fake” wasn’t me in the affair, it was me before the affair. I had lied to myself, hidden to my spouse, hidden my needs from myself and from my partner.
Many of our natural instincts are archaic inheritance. The several nervous systems drive our emotional reactions like we were still cavemen. Emotional intelligence accounts for self understanding, being able to reframe, step back. Acknowledge our feelings, understand them, control the impulses.
We won’t end up kicked out of a cave, dead eaten by a tiger, if we fail a relationship. But the brain can still think that way. By “brain” I mean some of the automatic nervous systems. Many reactions are subconscious. Your consciousness can notice the effects. And then think about the triggers.
You are safe. These negative emotions are not real.
However, whatever how strong you think a brain can be, thoughts alone (cognition) cannot always convince your nervous systems that you aren’t in a risk of impending death. Millions of year of survival evolution lead us to stubbornly trust our feelings. Which is sometimes correct. Don’t stay in an unsafe relationship. I am talking here about other needs.
When you know you’re safe but you need more, and cannot convince yourself, then don’t ignore it. Your nervous systems will implacably make you feel miserable until your pressure valve blows up. Escape.
How do you get “more”?
Your needs can be met elsewhere. Not in the arms of a lover, equally as emotionally immature as you, or worse. No: with friends, at an art club, in the gym, walking alone. Watch your fav series alone. Your own projects.
Your partner might be your life partner : 1) They deserve to know 2) They deserve a chance to make it work mutually But: 1) They don’t know you perfectly. They can’t read your mind 2) You are not bound to them. You are safe. Really. Be that person you really are. Love the real self. Stand for yourself. Impose your boundaries. Almost be ready to walk off of it doesn’t work out. You are not desperate. The partner will only respect you more. You will grow together with the right partner. We have never been happier since I stopped taking shit.
Resentment is unacceptable. You are not strong for “coping”.
Of course, meeting your needs elsewhere (outside the relationship) yet without an affair, means you may not have satisfaction in romantic needs. Vanity of aesthetics, or personality interest, all gratifying your ego, are very powerful forces. Very. Even the richest and most intelligent people in the world chase after the gratification of beauty, power, etc. All the sins that you know are real, anchored in us. Don’t trust someone who tells you they are perfect, pure. We all have our demons.
Your present relationship will NOT satisfy all your needs. Your potential next one won’t either. Your AP has/will not either.
The only solution?
I am skipping a lot of the Self-Learning, there are lot of shortcuts in these thoughts.
Everything that made you do what you did, and made you feel what you felt in the affair, everything is in your hands. Any A is so unnecessary, because you could have had all the same self-finding and contentment without it. Like emotionally mature people do.

Guys, I have weird problem. In excel I have several formulas in one column and they are references to different ranges. For example we have "=named_range_1", "='input_sheet'!E1", "='input_sheet'!A1:D1", and I have a problem with last two cases, because when VBA reads those formulas it ignores character ' so we get formula "=input_sheet'!E1", which is obviously incorrect. Do you have any suggestions how to read this formula without losing '? I can later add it, but it won't work in first case, because there's no ' required. Also I don't want to use any if statements to check if ' is necessery, because I have to repeat this about 20 000 times. Thanks in advance for any suggestions

That's their "best" solution, but that's really crap because I paid for a software once, I have to change computers for work and then I have to pay again just because of this ?
Would it work to just use my activation key on the downloaded version from the website ? They keep answering me with the same automatized "Sorry you can't download when the link is expired" without taking the time to help the situation.

I am facing a problem at the university with a minor module. It started last winter semester, as i was registered for the course. By either my negligence or system's fault, my exam registration was not found(I really cannot be sure on that but I am responsible for my action). I gave both, the seminar and exam, and the results were out in a week. I recieved no grade for the exam and mailed the Teaching Assistant about it they she said she found my registration for seminar but cannot find my exam registration for the exam and thus, she can only grade the seminar but cannot grade my exam. I asked if she can register me for the exam(which she can) and she gave no direct answer. [.Now, I had an eye operation and there was a seminar of hers next week. I mailed her i wouldn't be able to attend and she asked me for a sick note. Since this seminar was an exam, i paid 7,50€ and got the sick not for university. But she refused that and wanted a sick note for work. So, I had to go out in a rainy week twice with one eye just to get that sick note.] I mailed the professor and she was the one who replied. I mailed my Program Coordinator and he talked to her. He told me that their chair have an internal policy to not register student this late for exam. I took my loss. So, I register for the retake of this module and I asked her that I have not registered for exam because the exam registrations have not started and will begin next week, she replied that if i failed . The exam is today and i mailed examination office to register me for the examination and they did. The problem is, If the chair disagrees, the examinations office have to cancel my registration.
What can i do in this case?

Quick question using the mud system mod. I have dumped some mud around my farm just using the fill type. When I save and then quit and come back to play, the mud is no longer there. Is that how this mod is suppose to work? Any thoughts? I really like the idea of this mod but I don't want to have to dump it everytime I load into a game.
I'm not sure if there's a conflict with some of the real dirt mods I'm using. They seem to be all from the same author so I figured they'd be ok. Any adivce would be welcomed!
