Premier splutters with the plug in!

2024.05.23 17:02 greytail3024 Premier splutters with the plug in!

! I just installed Premier Pr 2023 and the Insta360 plug in. BUT I guess my MaxPro can’t handle the program even with proxies. It plays back 360 fine without the plug in as does Resolve and FCPX. So I am on a free trial and that will be it. Studio needs just a few more features to make it the best editor. Do you know if Premier CS 6 will work with any of the plug ins? One can get a DVD for $75 off eBay fully licensed and can run it in Mojave. One of the keys to best resolution is to avoid transcoding which Premier does….Is editing on a phone the best way to keep max resolution and how come Insta360 can produce both desktop and phone software that works on most computers but Premiere can’’t?

2024.05.23 16:59 RideTheSpiralARC Pre-built vs DiY Advice

So my current PC is experiencing some crashes I cannot for the life of me figure out. DWM.exe crashes faulting module KERNALBASE.dll (lose both displays, fans max out, have to hard reset) accompanied by "Hardware Error caused a crash" ID 141. Every single stress test / benchmark / OCCT tests / memtest86 and on and on pass without issue for every component, but the crashes still happen randomly anytime from idle at desktop to 100% consistent when playing Tarkov (sometimes accompanied by unityplayer.dll crash).
I've DDU'd, removed (factory) overclocks, removed undervolt, disabled xmp, underclocked ram, updated all drivers/windows10/bios, downgraded nvidia drivers, swapped display cables, reseated all cables ram and gpu, reinstalled windows 4-5 times, tried generic windows drivers, pre-installed mobo drivers during windows install, and prob dozens of other fixes I can't recall after 60+ hours of troubleshooting lol I've had this PC for 3 years and it's always been rock solid, no temp spikes, basically 0 crashes etc until a month ago. idk wtf else to even try so I'm debating just replacing the pc: i7 10700kf, asus tuf 3080, gigabyte z590 arous elite ax mobo, 4x8 32gb G.Skill 3200hz ram, m.2 ssds, 850 watt evga supernova gold psu. (ABS Prebuilt from NewEgg)
I've been eyeballing this PC at Microcenter: https://www.microcenter.com/product/669855/powerspec-g717-gaming-pc-platinum-collection
My question is, for the price how much better could I do, if at all, building my own? I want the 7800x3D cpu for reasons (mostly the 3d cache gains it provides to Tarkov) & want an nvidia gpu for local AI gen compatibility. 12gb vram gpu minimum, more preferred.
Anyone have any suvgestions on a parts list that would beat that microcenter PC without raising the price further? I could realistically skip buying a ssd since I have 3x 1tb m.2 ssd already & already have a win 10 pro key. Mobo with 3 m.2 slots would be choice & an available pcie slot not blocked by gpu for my usb expansion card. I don't really need wifi on the mobo. Big thanks if you read all this and have any suggestions 🍻🍻

2024.05.23 16:57 TradeLeft7402 Issues with Dell Inspiron 15 Model 7506 Basic User Functions

I have a 3 year old Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series 2-in-1 Model 7506 and it is running on Windows 11. It has been having issues for over a year now that I believe are software related. Left side shift and ctrl keys do not reliably function while the right ones always work. Also, click and drag rarely works correctly both with the touchpad or a mouse. I checked for driver updates on what I thought might be causing it but I had no luck fixing the problem. Sometimes powering off and back on will make it work better for a little bit but not often. I could really use some help with this as I am not sure where to go from here and I am not very tech savvy. These are computer functions I use every day and I think if I cannot get it working correctly, I will need to get a new laptop. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

2024.05.23 16:54 interstelarcloud NC Refusal hearing

Hi everyone, first time DUI that I got back in September 2023, and have my refusal hearing with the DMV 6/6. I'm super anxious since my lawyer told me that it's really hard for him to know what will be determined. Has anyone recently had a hearing and had their results? From my understanding, if they do decide to take my license it's at least 6 months before I can apply for a driving privilege.
I'm starting a new job 2 weeks after the hearing and have to bring my drivers license with to work, I am super worried if I lose my license I will also lose this job. I was wondering if anyone knows if a state I.D is a valid form of identification?
On top of that I just found out I'm pregnant, and obviously it would be crucial for me to be able to drive legally.
Any helpful information or advice from anyone in NC who has gone through this process would be greatly appreciated!

Pachyonychia congenital (PC) is a rare disorder characterized by a trio of focal palmoplantar keratoderma, plantar pain, and hypertrophic nail dystrophy. It is an autosomal dominant inherited condition associated with impaired mobility, potentially debilitating. PC diagnosis is primarily clinical, accompanied by detecting a heterozygous pathogenic mutation in one of five keratin genes: KRT6A, KRT6B, KRT6C, KRT16, or KRT17. Each mutation in these genes presents a unique clinical phenotype, varying in the age of onset and presenting additional features, allowing for genotype-based classification. Additional symptoms may include pilosebaceous cysts, follicular hyperkeratosis, natal teeth, oral leukokeratosis, hidradenitis suppurativa, itching, and involvement of neurovascular structures. Although categorized as rare, the true prevalence of PC is likely underestimated. Presently, there is no definitive cure or targeted treatment for PC. Available interventions primarily focus on conservative measures to alleviate plantar friction and trauma, mechanical debridement, topical therapies, and managing associated features such as infections.
Thelansis’s “Pachyonychia Congenita (PC) Market Outlook, Epidemiology, Competitive Landscape, and Market Forecast Report – 2023 To 2033" covers disease overview, epidemiology, drug utilization, prescription share analysis, competitive landscape, clinical practice, regulatory landscape, patient share, market uptake, market forecast, and key market insights under the potential Pachyonychia Congenita (PC) treatment modalities options for eight major markets (USA, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, UK, Japan, and China).

2024.05.23 16:52 Playful_Original_243 Can I pick up my Vyvanse using a temporary drivers license?

Basically the title. I lost my drivers license and ordered a new one, but it won’t come in for at least two weeks. I got a temporary paper drivers license but it doesn’t have anything for the pharmacist to scan. I really need to pick up my meds and I’m screwed if I can’t. Can I use the temporary license to pick up my meds? I tried calling the pharmacy but I don’t think she understood my question. She just repeated “you need your drivers license or another valid id” but I don’t know if this is a proper form of identification. I googled it but I can’t find any answers about temporary IDs.
I’m in Texas for context surrounding laws and such. Genuinely stressing out really bad right now. I need my meds for work or else I’m shit at my job and I’m screwed.

2024.05.23 16:51 Hiro812 Kumamoto travel

Hello ! we are planning to go to Japan in October and our first stop is Kumamoto. We are huge anime fans, so we would really like to see all the One Piece Statues (and also the Castle, Suizenji, and possibly Takahari Inari Shrine).
We don't have drivers licenses and understand you can't do it all in one day (we have about 3 days there) so we have some questions:
* Are taxis reliable ? can we use the taxi Go app ? where can you find the fares?
* Do buses accept IC cards ? we think they are cash only. Do you pay when you get off from the front or when you get on after you say your destination ?
* Is Googlemaps timetable reliable? we know the buses are scarce, but we want to know if we can trust the times shown on the app.
* Lastly, do you have any recommendations in Kumamoto?
Thank you so much in advance!

2024.05.23 16:51 IntroductionHappy398 Advice for my UX design for driver license test practice application

I just started learning design and using Figma. To practice, I decided to redesign this application, which is made for practicing written test of driver license in my country. I've noticed it was made by a developer and never optimized for UX.
I've separated UI and UX in my process, and currently hyper-focused on the user experience before shifting to UI design. I've included how the original app looked and a brief description of my thought process in the file. Any feedback on best practices, prototyping, communication, or anything else would be greatly appreciated.

2024.05.23 16:48 --TX2CA-- Tool rental return requires ID?

I returned a inner tie rod tool this morning that I rented from advance. The cashier asked for my receipt, and I asked if we could look it up by my phone number because I didn’t have the paper receipt on me.
He proceeds to do the return of the rental tool, but says he needs my drivers license to process the refund. When I asked why, he stated that because I didn’t have my receipt my ID was required. I told him that he just pulled up my receipt in the system, so he does have my receipt. He said that because I don’t have my paper receipt, my ID is required to prove that I was physically there doing the return.
I’m aware that companies are using third-party to track returns now because of unfortunate folks taking advantage of the system. But in this case, I clearly had a receipt as he was able to pull it up in his system.
This doesn’t make sense to me? Is this a policy of advance?

2024.05.23 16:41 Jido_Feles One hell of a night last night!

I'm picking up some dude at a 7-Eleven just after the Pearl jam concert let out last night at the LA Forum. Dude is so fucking high, he couldn't even talk. He's walking around the car trying to check the license plate and stuff. He gives me his name and says who he's looking for. The timer had been running, and after about 40 more seconds of this BS, he starts shaking a bag of trail mix at me. I tell him he has the wrong driver, and I cancel.
I go to pick up this chick on Hollywood boulevard and I'm at the pickup point that she selected. She starts texting me telling me she's up the street. I text her back and say that I'm at the pickup point. Then she starts calling. Timer runs out. Cancel.
I go to pick up a couple on Selma avenue in Hollywood. That street at 2:00 a.m. is packed with Uber blacks and shit all the time. I see them. The guy is waving at me. I put down my window. And he says yeah turn around and come over here. I'm 15 ft away from this dude. And I said oh you want me to come over there? I drove up the street, let the time run out, cancel and take off.
2 minutes later I get a pickup request and it turns out it's at the same place where I canceled on that couple a few minutes earlier. This time it's a different passenger, but, the people I canceled on were standing there still. And when I pull up they try to get in, saying that they already paid for that trip. They're banging on the window and shit. I rolled the window down and said that I canceled on them because they were too lazy to walk 15 ft, and that I didn't have time to be bothered with elitist assholes. They said they would report me. I told them to do whatever the fuck they wanted.
I'm picking up a dude getting off work from a 7-Eleven. The 2-minute timer is already expired. He gets in, and asked me to wait a few minutes for his coworker to get off. I told him I didn't have time to wait because the courtesy timer had already expired. He's like no, just give me a few minutes. I canceled that shit and told him to get out.
And here's the coup de grace. I pick up some dude at a recording studio in Culver City. One minute after we left, the dude falls over in the back seat. I could hear him snoring. We get to the final destination, it's 5:00 in the morning, and I can't wake this motherfucker up. I reach out to Uber, and their policy is that we can't touch the passenger, so the security team calls the Torrance Police department. One cop car, one ambulance, one paramedic unit, and a fucking fire truck all show up at the same time. They could not rouse the guy. So they gave him two doses of narcan up his nose, and after about 30 minutes he came around. That whole shit show took a fucking hour, but I didn't end the trip until his ass was out of the car. Not only that, the motherfucker left me a $4 tip. Isn't that rich?

2024.05.23 16:37 Every_Scientist3380 INFORMATION ABOUT YAKUUBS CORNER and owner Derek De Baere in Fond Du Lac

Let me start with how I started an online video game reselling business which caught the attention of Mr DeBaere. Derek approached me with an offer of a partnership to open a store in Fond Du Lac to sell my games in a retail setting if i paid for us to attend a flea market and i did. It sounded far to good to be true but I felt I could trust him, but I should have trusted my gut because it was far to good to be true. Little did I know this man did not have a penny to his name and was trying to convince me to start a business for him. The only thing he had was the old storefront that his father no longer used at their printing business. He convinced me to clean up his decrepit shop owned by his father's printing company Haber Printing & M&M Printing. He convinced me to spend 2 weeks cleaning and restoring the store front that was saturated with cat urine, mold, and years of filth. I painted the store. I painted the store fixtures to cover the Lead Paint he refused to remove. I laid carpet tiles and began to fill the store with my online inventory. He purchased broken games from ebay to attempt to appear to be helping with inventory however he knows NOTHING of video games and load our store with Madden and NBA games. Hundreds of them. I expressed my concern of the fact that he purchased valueless games compared to my thousands of dollars in stock and he still had me buy my own resurfacing equipment and fix all the games, at my expense. He never paid me for any of these services. He also required me to fix 3 backwards compatible ps3s and refused to pay me for them. I returned all 3 to him un damaged. He then destroyed one of them and attempted to sue me for what he had done to his PS3. He lost in court as, of corse he was lying. He damaged the PlayStation after I returned it to him because he doesn't know what he is doing and tried to make me pay for it. I plead my case in court and he lost. After raising multiple Financial concerns to Mr De Baere, regarding proper licensing and paying taxes appropriately and getting all of the permits that were required to open the store, I had decided that Mr DeBaere was a less than honest businessman, with ideas of charging sales tax without ever paying in sales tax, and no return policy. Charging customers for parking, and was against paying for any kind of security as it was a"waste of money" and was against doing the police inventory checks because we would lose money if anything ended up being stolen. Now mind you at this point Derek has Maybe put $300 into this entire adventure and I am around $6,000 deep. I have right around $4,000 worth of games systems and accessories in the storage room at the store. After getting into an argument with Mr De Baere he attempted to lock me out of the building and keep all of my items. I used the key that was provided to me by his father to enter the building and remove what belonged to me. I left everything of his and only took what he had not already stolen. I have video of him and his father coming to my house and threatening me after this incident but their attitude changed after I informed them they were on camera. He stole almost $3,000 worth of games and accessories including Rare games, rare systems and books of Pokemon cards that belonged to my children and we're not even for sale, from me before I could even get into the store and remove my belongings. Now since I thought he was a friend I never had any documented proof that my games and accessories that were stolen wherever in the store then proceeded to try to claim that everything of mine that I took belonged to him and sue me in court and he ended up losing because like I said before he was lying. He literally tried to steal my entire livelihood and thought he could get away with it. I would personally sue him for the items that he had stolen from me however most of my items were acquired from rummage sales and flea markets so I did not have documentation of their source so it would get washed out in court and is a waste of time. I know what I had and I have a list of what I had however I do not have documentation or proof as far as the courts are concerned. Lovely right? He now still operates the store that I named and I designed the company logo for , albeit I guarantee it is not a legal operation. He has since proceeded to harass my wife and attempt to harass me even further. I wouldn't trust this man as far as I could throw him. I just feel that it's fair that the community knows what kind of a man he really is. He deals with stolen games and systems and is as dishonest as they get. The Consumer Review Fairness Act (CRFA) of 2016 (H.R.5111) protects consumers' ability to share honest opinions about a business's products, services, or conduct. Now since Mr Debaere has made it impossible for me to make this information available through a review I will share the information here as I am constitutionally protected to do so. If you're looking for a good retro store i recommend Start Over in Oshkosh!

KEY TAKEAWAYS
THE BIRTH OF AN ICON (THE EARLY YEARS)
As you delve deeper into the history of Mercedes-Benz, you uncover a saga of relentless innovation and unwavering commitment to excellence. This iconic brand's early years set a precedent for the automotive industry, embarking on a journey that would see it become a symbol of luxury and innovation on South African roads and beyond.
The origins of Mercedes-Benz trace back to the late 19th century, with Karl Benz's invention of the Benz Patent-Motorwagen in 1886, considered the world’s first automobile to be powered by an internal combustion engine. This pioneering vehicle laid the foundational stone for a legacy of technological advancements and design philosophy that Mercedes-Benz is renowned for today. This achievement wasn't just a landmark in automotive history but also a beacon of the future potential for personal transportation.
In the subsequent years, Mercedes-Benz continued to lead with groundbreaking innovations. The brand's name, Mercedes, introduced in 1901, was inspired by Mercedes Jellinek, the daughter of an Austrian businessman and automotive enthusiast who had a profound impact on the engine designs of that era. The Mercedes 35 hp model soon followed, revolutionising automobile design by lowering the car's centre of gravity and crafting a lighter, yet more potent engine—principles that underlie the Mercedes-Benz design philosophy even today.
South Africa's fascination with Mercedes-Benz also dates back to these formative years. As the brand grew internationally, its reputation for quality, durability, and luxury resonated with South African consumers. The marque's ability to adapt to different terrains and climates made it an ideal choice for the diverse South African landscape, cementing its place as a coveted asset among car enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike.
Mercedes-Benz's commitment to "The Best or Nothing" was evident from the outset. This motto not only defined its approach to vehicle manufacturing but also established a culture of excellence that persists. The early years were just the beginning of a storied journey that saw Mercedes-Benz introduce numerous innovations, from safety features like the crumple zone to luxury enhancements and performance capabilities that continue to define the modern automobile.

During this era, Mercedes-Benz mastered the art of blending aesthetic appeal with groundbreaking technology. The brand introduced the world to revolutionary safety features, such as the crumple zone, a concept that has since become a standard in the automobile industry. This innovation, designed to absorb the impact during collisions and protect the occupants, exemplified Mercedes-Benz's pioneering approach to vehicle safety and design.
The mid-20th century also saw the debut of iconic models that left an indelible mark on the automotive world. Vehicles like the 300 SL, known for its distinctive gull-wing doors, not only showcased Mercedes-Benz's superior engineering capabilities but also its bold design philosophy. These models quickly became coveted among car enthusiasts in South Africa and around the globe, establishing Mercedes-Benz as a symbol of both innovation and luxury.
Mercedes-Benz's expansion during this period was not just limited to technological advancements and model introductions. In Frederick, Maryland, asphalt driveway paving costs can vary depending on several factors, but here’s a breakdown to give you a good idea near you:
Here’s a ballpark range for Frederick, MD:
History of Asphalt in Frederick: Frederick was founded in 1745. Asphalt paving wasn’t widely used in the United States until the late 19th century, so the first Frederick driveways were likely made of materials like gravel, cobblestone, or even wood.

2024.05.23 16:20 Dismal-Equivalent-94 I end the Yasuke debate with facts and logic

I thought I would give my two cents on this issue of Yasuke in Assasins Creed. I am aware I am not a proper historian by any means nor a prolific icon on any social media especially reddit but I thought I would give my take as at least a person who like many of us have been let down by the state of the triple AAA gaming industry and the broader landscape of media entertainment and the they often controversy entail. I don’t know if it will or strengthen arguments but I am a brown man that hates the state of DEI and the mass tokenistic and insincere pandering by corporations to appeal to minorities.
Now before I start need to at least analyse the criticism of this and unpack the core problem/s. Because it seems like a mixture of multiple gripes and issues tangled together in a tumultuous ball of yarn that has ‘Yasuke’ at the centre. Most because its not like Cleopatra where there black-washing and revising history entirely as of now Now the main issues that seem to be at the core of the problem, surrounding the characters of Assasins Creed Shadows (and not the ridiculous price are the following):
  1. Yasuke’s status as a real historical figure and a samurai:

  1. Prioritisation to pander towards one minoirty group over another through not having an East Asian or more specificilly Japanese male protagonist,

  1. Playing as a charcater who belongs to the ethnic majority of a region the video game is set in

  1. The involvement of Sweet Baby Inc

  1. Historical accuracy of real life and going against the game lore + fantasy

~1) Yasuke The Phony:~
Yasuke was indeed a real historical figure but his title of the first Foreign Samurai has been highly contested. This is mostly evident in the few records kept of his service both in Japan and prior to his arrival. We know he was taken from somewhere in Africa (probably east) as a child due to his strength and height.First he was servant brought from India when Alessandro Valignano came to Japan and there were written and artistic sources to confirm this. It is estimated that he served Nobunaga and lived in Japan for three years. Additionally, he was one of many Africans brought to Japan as servants for the Portuguese. Now due to the limited resources and our understanding of both Yasuke and key figures in the time along with some much-needed context the definitive answer to him being samurai is contestable.
Many points of contention from academics and general public can be listed below that point to him not being a samurai:
He wasn’t forced to commit seppuku when both Nobunaga and Nobutada had been killed, samurai had to be born into their class and he was foreigner, he could have not qualified as a samurai as it takes at least five years of extensive training in combat, arts and academics to reach the esteemed rank considering he was only under Nobunaga for one year, he was considered a ‘bushi’ and even if you wore samurai armour you were not part of the class, he was a weapons retainer.
While I personally lean towards the possibility of him being a samurai I am very positive that under Nobunaga’s service he definitely had a role that would have been a bodyguard. For one the Jesuit’s could not employ soldiers in their work so they would use bodyguards instead as a loophole. We do know that Yasuke was briefly in India with Jesuits where he was trained in combat…Also the average height of a samurai around the time were between 5ft 2 and maybe maxing out at 5ft 7 (about 155 – 165cm tall)… Now Yasuke was 182 cm tall (6ft2) so having this tall, muscular man who had inbuilt nighttime camo and mind you described as having the strength of ten men. It would be an idiotic decision too not have him in a combat role or as an intimidation factor when he was said to have the strength of ten men.
Now back to the infamous point of not being forced to commit suicide by sword and rather escorted back to the Jesuit…For starters the Akechi Mitsuhide who betrayed Oda forced both Nobunaga and Nobutada to commit seppuku (not done in one sitting but separate incident in the same day). Many say that because Yasuke wasn’t forced to commit seppuku and rather forcibly escorted to a Jesuit mission nearby. Thus he wasn’t a samurai because suicide by sword was the custom when captured. Mitsuhide didn’t consider him a human being but rather sub-human due to being non-Japanese (not because of skin colour which I am aware is indicative of nationality in the time period when immigration was not really a thing but I digress). Similar attitudes and views in regards to foreigners and non-Japanese are also present in Japan. An example can mostly be seen how native Japanese treat foreigners of non-Japanese background in comparison those those with a Japanese heritage. Japanese people will be less harsh towards certain social behaviours that foreigners exhibit because you they were not born or intrenched long enough in the culture or make that assumption due to different appearance. On the other hand, a person of Japanese heritage that was born and raised abroad will have harsher consequences by Japanese society for a lack of adherence to social and cultural norms due to perceived kinship based on appearance alone. They expect them to learn the intricacies and practices of their culture.
It's also worth mentioning that the term samurai did not exist in the Sengoku period to distinguish them and came only 20 years later (around the same time William Adams washed ashore). The term ninja also came into existence much later and that historical records were a lot more comprehensive and abundant during the Edo period. Additionally it has become easy to dismiss the possibility of his ascension to samurai because of the terms ‘weapons bearer’ and incorrectly refer to him as a slave. The man was given a short sword, land, a house and made a member of his vassal (basically a part of his entourage). Diminishing his role would be like the equivalent of disrespecting the grounds keeper of the Whitehouse (not the best comparison) but the point is that even if he was a butler to Oda it was to highly regarded role it was how he was serving. Now this isn’t supposed to conclude that he is definitely a samurai but rather condemn by critiquing a common problem this Yasuke controversy caused…The notion that concluding Yasuke wasn’t a samurai because of absent evidence is equally wrong as too say he was a samurai. In fact people also were said to have been given partial status as samurai but as said earlier the distinction was never made between the levels of warriors until much later. Now although he may have not likely been a samurai he would have at the minimum had a protective semi-combative role rather than a mere slave.

2. Prioritisation to pander towards one minoirty group:
Many have complained that having a Japanese male protagonist should have been in the game. Now for me it is honestly a mixed bag. I can understand the de facto logic of playing as a Japanese person in feudal Japan but by having a foreign samurai and female ninja as playable protagonists allows Shadow’s narrative and visuals to stand out from other video games that depict historically accurate samurai. This is especially true when considering the recent release and praise for Ghost of Tsushima (GoT) and Rise of Ronin (ROR). Therefore, while I would have preferred the standard route of having a male Japanese historical figure who was a renowned warrior and figure I honestly believe that future video games could replace the expectation currently placed on Assassins Creed, especially with the success of East Asian ethnic groups in our modern socio-cultural landscape. I mean you East Asians are eating good with how it took 5 years for Jung Kim to get into the MCU but 12 years for Dev Patel to become John Vick. (This is a joke of course but it does highlight a serious point…About this DEI.) To be honest its tragic because the whole fixation on DEI-ly bread in the media will literally treat you like the god awful Hwhite man when it’s a story about your own country but the moment your in the West you guys get the victim card back.
And honestly there was probably lots of potential for having a female ninja as she would have had to not rely so much on strength but knowing what weed companies be smoking they probably are not going to do something meaningful. Now as for Japanese outlash towards Yasuke is honestly overblown! Mostly because he has been prominently depicted as a samurai and or swordsman in Japan through various media with equally diverging adherence to historical accuracy and authenticity even before the terrible Netflix anime. You would think that there would have been outrage in Japan for this depiction in 2021 but nope only seems to happen three years later. And while im not denying that lots of Japanese fans would be disappointed or angry a lot are ok with his depiction of samurai like they always have but are aware of how their history is being perverted by the west too fuel the woke narrative.
Now if you remember who is making this game then you will realise Yasuke being a main protagonist is slightly overblown. Yes, he was most likely used for DEI but if we also combine this with the fact the bad press other Ubisoft projects have been getting lately such as Star Wars: Outlaws and Skull and Bones especially with the current state of the socio-political landscape it’s not surprising in the slightest that the outrage would happened and reached boiling point so rapidly.
Hypothetically speaking if a video game studio that was more well received and favoured by gamers created the same project such as Sucker Punch… Better yet if this was created in Ubisoft’s prime or better yet after AC: Origins the Punch the controversy in regard to the group identity of the protagonists would be less of an issue unfortunately nowadays all the good examples of representation get targeted because of idiots that cant write competent original stories.
God of War Ragnarök for example featured for the first time characters that appear Black in the form of Angrboda and Hildisvíni which created a lot of controversy as they were dealing with Norse mythology and it is set in the Nordic countries the first place you think of when I say Black people. (I say appear because since the subjects in question aren’t humans they wouldn’t have this concept of race). This was most likely a result of DEI with some arguing that since Angrboda was described as ‘blue’ in mythology which was also used to refer to people of darker complexions most notably Africans it is acceptable, but I digress. The main point is that despite the fears created enough trust was placed by fans and gamers alike in Santa Monica studios due their stellar reputation. Thus, the trepidation despite still apparent was drowned out by the excitement and love for the previous game and in the end faith ultimately prevailed. In fact when the game it finally released the reception was overwhelmingly positive and race-swapping as a result of DEI was mostly overlooked as the developers were competent and focused on creating an enjoyable playable experience. Sadly I don’t think Ubisoft has any sort of semblance of a brain or backbone to pull of wonders at this stage.

~3. Playing as a character who belongs to a majority group from the region:~
This argument is easily dismantled if you dive into the Assassins Creed Video Games. Revelations had an Italian man in Turkey, Black Flag had a Welsh man in the Caribbean, Valhalla had a Norse/Scandinavian man in England. Now a black man in Japan who is contested to be a samurai is ok so long as he is WRITTEN WELL! (which is not gonna happen).
~4. Sweet Baby Inc is not involved with shit!~
Sweet Baby inc. as you know doesn’t have a good reputation and while they are definitely a problem they are not the problem only symptom of it. The only ‘evidence’ of any collaboration the infamous company has with the project is that they are followed by the AC: shadows lead writer who is arguably a leftist extremist evident by the twitter bio of the she/her pronouns. This is honestly lofty and an uncredible as it is not listed as project they are a part of. While it is easy to look at the state of the triple AAA gaming industry, from property level prices, diminishing quality with the creativity of a dead donkey coupled with how it constantly shoves a neo-Marxist socio-political and ideological agenda down our throats. Sweet Baby is only a fish in this giant tidal wave of turds as they are one of many consultancy groups that would intend to make money off ‘wokeism’. It would be the equivalent of assuming that one producer, director or even writer in Hollywood is ruining our films when we see a trailer for an obviously woke film just because the project’s director follows them on social media or appreciates there. It’s just a bold triggering statement to rile us up and vent our frustrations. If we used deductive reasoning and recalled upon the various events that demonstrate the permeance of wokeism we would realise that the division responsible for helming this bland, bloated, blundering behemoth of beluga shite is Ubisoft Quebec, in Canada.
A country as you know that is notorious for being the most active fighter on the front for the West to push ‘THE MESSAGE’ (as the drinker would say). So considering the tyranny and radical Marxism that Justin Castro has on the country and how powerful his government has been in implementing this agenda in the fabric of Canadian society is it not more logical to say that these Leftists are just creating a project that endorses the values and attitudes that the government propagates? In fact Canada is so instrumental in the pushing this ideological agenda it is the headquarters and base of operations for the DEI-stopia and with their notorious contributions such as adding ‘two spirit’ to the Alphabet acronym, imprisoning individuals for incorrect usage of someone’s pronouns and even your child undergo gender transition therapy without your consent or knowledge. In fact with the way they are going is it any wonder they want to declare war on South Africa for the title of the “Rainbow nation”. Sweet Baby is only getting the treatment they deserve because of their clear hijacking of The Suicide Squad video game which exposed them to collective wrath of the persistent and resilient people on the frontlines defending our escapism from this blatant preposterous political propaganda. After all “bad publicity is still publicity” because the exposure will probably lead to these blood-sucking parasites getting sought after by other delusional dastardly dags who are reluctant to meet their DEI-ly Dose of Woke. This ‘bad press’ only makes them stronger so don’t go blaming them…Save it for Canada.

~5. Historical accuracy and fantasy of real life and going against the game~

Fiction is defined as a type of literature that describes imaginary people and events, not real ones. Now this seems to contradict the idea of History which is essentially about true events that have occurred in our past. Historical Fiction is set in a real place, during a culturally recognizable time. The details and the action in the story can be a mix of actual events and ones from the author's or creators’ imagination as they fill in the gaps. Characters can be pure fiction or based on real people. An essential element of historical fiction is that it is set in the past and pays attention to the manners, social conditions, and other details of the depicted period.

This means that while you have the liberty to be creative in what you conjure like a fiction story as an author and writer you are still bound by a certain level of historical accuracy for immersions sake. Assassin’s Creed 1 most did this by removing the crossbow that was seen in the trailer this value and emphasis on being as historically authentic as possible showed the attention to detail from the developers but sadly as we know was lost in subsequent games. Now historical accuracy regarding the franchise and especially is somewhat tricky to navigate as they have introduced Sci-fi elements as previously stated as well. Additionally the fact that no one has sought to define the parameters that fall under historical accuracy when it comes to the real life events that AC is based on so I will take a stab at it (pun intended). One such creative license is of course having Yasuke being a samurai but if he becomes the Shogun or something ridiculous then yeah there stretching it pal.

Of course, this only applies to the aspects involving human stories and time periods but ultimately how they choose to unravel or progress the story via gaps in the records of reality will of course make it fiction. If historical fiction had to be as reflective of reality as possible then you would be left with a lack of creativity and some pretty big gaps. Assasin’s Creed should be historically accurate in regard to retelling key events and depicting the backdrop that constitutes the time period. Now considering the premise of the franchise is dependent upon the idea of two secret organisations with polarising ideologies founded in ancient times battling and operating in the shadows throughout various historical settings and times to determine the fate of mankind and the world… One could say “Everything is permitted”. Of course that does not mean you simply say “fuck off” to historical accuracy its honestly dependent on how much the writer wants to abide by it and considering that The AC lore is supposed to closely mirror ours in how history unfolds with some Assassin-esque alterations obviously for the greater over arcing story and to not be called a documentary… The series is not trying to be as faithful to the real life lore as the showrunners of Shogun nor are they reaching the biblical accuracy of Ridley Scots Gladiator. If somebody is complaining about historical accuracy of the franchise because it has created expectations to do so since birth then we should ask ourselves what are the ratios of historical accuracy to creative licence. Is it 50 – 50, 70 to 30? If you can say that then you can make your case better at least.

Now if your saying that the lack of adhering to historical accuracy because a lack of it will lead too problematic, revisionism fuelled by a political and ideological agenda… That’s somewhat more of a valid point…Especially with the leaks we have been getting such as the director wanting to put a foreign protagonist because of his inability to understand Japanese culture and society or the latest statement that Yasuke and Naoe will be part of the Alphabet Axis in probably the most politician type answer to hit the gaming press. This is also apparent considering the historian they hired is notoriously getting traction for her work on exploring homosexual relations in Japan from pre-1700’s (most notably “Yaoi”) amongst Buddhists and Boys. If they want to make the characters have romance options with men or woman that’s fine. The problem will be if they portray such relationships as commonplace were like they what they did for Odyssey. It will also be ok to call out the game for such liberty with history if they feature Africans outside of their role’s as servants to the Jesuit’s or in places of prominent power and authority. This of course would be revisionism and the only African person close to ever having the potential to wield more power than his fellow patrons is Yasuke because he was lucky enough to receive the attention of Oda Nobunaga who was probably the most likely the feudal lord in the period to do such a thing. Now while like Cleopatra this is very different. The game doesn’t promote Afro-centric ideas that the Japanese were black, or that the samurai were black so that GI Jane 2 can make her daughter feel better by claiming fact.

Now for those who say “Why do you care it’s fantasy.” Are also missing the point. Just because it is not real doesn’t mean that all logic and rules set for the world can be broken. A good explanation can be found in my paraphrasing and understanding of J.R.R Tolkien’s quote. It goes something along the lines of you only need to suspend your disbelief once. And that is for the world and laws of the universe that govern the fictional world it to exist. You cannot or should not suspend your disbelief a second time to rationalise when the rules established are broken or the possibilities based on inference are non-feasible. In Dragon ball human beings are capable of incredible feats of strength and almost mystical feats if they train hard enough. One such example if being able to run as fast as a moving car which is not innate but earned through discipline.
If it was established that humans were as strong in the franchise as they were in real life and suddenly Krillin (a human) ran as fast as a car or some other ability that was not discussed and it occurred, during a pivotal moment in the story that is not explained and breaks the rules of the established world. Then you cannot rationalise it just for being fiction! There is a literal reason why fiction stories 99% of the time don’t end like “an then a wizard appeared and cast a spell to make everything better or they woke up and realised it was all a dream.” Your goal should be to bend the rules of the established rules but not break it so that you could not plan ahead.

It’s the reason why AC Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla made fans go… “HEY YO WHAT THE FUCK!” when it added fantastical elements such as mythological creatures, immortality, and other foreign mumbo jumbo. Even when the franchise introduced aliens while arguably still a WTF! Was ultimately the execution of this plot point that resulted in it being less jarring. In other words, the Aliens were still a possibility with some explanation that could integrate into the lore of the universe created. The moment the fantastical and supernatural elements were added in with the recent titles (except Mirage which stayed away from these elements) it failed to follow a process of coherent narrative integration to justify its presence.

~Summary:~
The decision for Ubisoft to make their protagonists a black samurai, Yasuke and female ninja for their upcoming game Assassin's Creed Shadows had the potential to create a compelling and unique narrative that differentiates itself from other historically accurate Samurai Video games through using a degree of creative license that is well known in the series to explore unique perspectives with two obscure historical figures that easily blend into the franchise mythos. However, due to the poor reputation of Ubisoft, the current goal of the entertainment in multi-media enforce politics and inside information regarding the development team, has led to the company’s choice of an African protagonist in feudal Japan to become more controversial than intended which is especially true when he most likely used by Western corporations to promote and push a socio-ideological and political agenda to pander to minorities whilst displaying the most audacious form of hypocrisy of the far left by making an Asian male lead absent in a country he is native and cause outrage on both sides of the political isles.

2024.05.23 16:20 Federal_Machine692 Payback

I was just returning back from another interview. It has been the third one this month.
I failed to make the cut yet again.
Life hasn’t been easy for an ex-soldier with the economic downturn currently underway.
The COVID pandemic had also wiped out all my savings.
So I was open to securing any job that would help me pay my bills.
I hadn’t eaten all day and just passed by a McDonalds. It was crowded and I thought to myself, ‘Let me just order a takeout’.
I could see a few vehicles waiting in front of me.
There was a guy in his motorcycle honking incessantly demanding the customer in front to keep it moving.
He was a tall man with long hair and clearly looked edgy and irritable. Both his arms were heavily tattooed. He stepped down from his bike and started to walk towards the car in front of him.
I couldn’t make out what he way saying but I could see the conversation was getting heated.
I got down from my car and walked towards the biker guy.
As I got closer, the biker banged on the hood of the car and was pointing his finger at the man threateningly.
The guy in the car was looking a little alarmed. He had a young boy seated next to him.
The woman working at the driveway counter appealed to the biker to maintain his cool. He would hear none of it.
She then proceeded to call the police and this made the biker more irate. He snatched the receiver from her and hit her face with it. She fell backwards and started bleeding from the nose.
The biker then proceeded to turn his gaze towards the man in the car. He opened the door and dragged the guy outside.
He drew his hand back to throw a punch at him.
I caught his arm from behind and kicked him hard in the shins. He yelped in pain and let go of the other man.
He then turned back angrily to take a look at me. He was wearing a black jacket with the name Kenny embossed in front.
I said, “Listen Kenny. I have had a really bad day. So you either stop this madness or I am going to break your bones.”
He snarled and threw a punch at me with all his might. I swerved to the right and ducked just in time, causing him to miss completely.
Next, he whipped out a switch blade from his pocket and lunged towards me with it. I side stepped him and counterattacked with a punch to his plexus. He went down on one knee.
I caught hold of his knife arm and ordered him to drop it.
“Drop the knife kenny!! This is your last warning”, I repeated.
He started to fidget with his other arm around his shoe. I realized he had another weapon hidden in his sock.
So before he could attempt anything else, I twisted his forearm and landed a crushing blow to his elbow. It snapped into two and he lay on the floor yelping in pain.
By this point, other people came forward to intervene and help with the situation.
As Kenny was being led away by the police, he kept staring at me with madness in his eyes.
“I am coming back for you. This is going to be the biggest regret of your life”, he yelled.
I didn’t care and started going back to my car.
Then the man who was threatened by Kenny came forward and shook my hand.
“Hi. I am Rupert. That is my son Henry”, he said.
I waved my hand at the boy and he waved back.
“I would like to thank you for what you did for me back there”, he said.
“You not only helped me maintain my dignity but also helped me save face in front of my son”, he continued.
“This means a lot to me as a dad” he said.
I nodded in acknowledgement not sure what I was to add to the conversation.
He then reluctantly asked,” Is there anything I can do to repay the favour? Please feel free to ask . Anything. I would be most grateful.”
I thought for a moment. I could see the man was wealthy.
“If it’s not too much of an ask, I would appreciate a job if available. If you feel that is difficult, no problem. Forget I asked. No worries.” I said.
He smiled back at me warmly. He reached into his pocket and handed me a card.
“Please come to my office tomorrow. We can talk” he signed off.
From that moment on, I became the personal bodyguard and chaperone of his 8 year old son Henry. We immediately hit it off and became pals. I looked after all his son’s travelling arrangements.
We would also go to McDonalds every week for his favourite Burger and fries. I later learnt that his father was a very wealthy man who made most of his money during the dot com bubble.
I also became friends with the female employee at the driveway counter who had earlier been attacked by that biker punk Kenny.
Her name was Stella and it didn’t take very long for the two of us to start dating.
With a fulfilling job and a loving girlfriend by my side, my life was finally back on track. I couldn’t be happier.
And then one day - it all came crashing.
Henry and I as usual visited the McDonalds joint and I was surprised to see Stella missing at the counter.
I asked the staff about her and they said she hadn’t turned up today.
I thought that was weird. She had stayed over at my place and I saw her leave for work in the morning.
I tried calling her number but it was unreachable.
I dropped Henry at home and headed towards Stella’s apartment.
She had given me a spare key and I opened the door with it. Everything was in its place.
I tried her number again. It remained not reachable.
I decided to go back to my apartment to check if she might be there.
When I reached the door, I could see the lock had been smashed. The door was left slightly open.
I took out my side arm and slowly entered the apartment.
I could see a life size figure of Ronald McDonald the clown sitting on my sofa.
The famous mascot was sitting cross legged with one arm resting on the backrest. Just like how he likes to sit on benches outside McDonald outlets all across the world.
I was a little taken aback, but quickly switched on the lights to take a closer look.
As I moved closer, my knees buckled under my own weight.
It was Stella. She was the one who was dressed as the clown.
There were injury marks around her neck. She had been strangled to death.
I managed to call the cops while still reeling from the shock.
I also noticed her right hand which was resting on her thigh, was close fisted. When I pried it open, there was a crumpled piece of paper inside.
It read -
“She was really begging me for mercy.
Where was soldier boy when she needed him huh?
Boo Hoo….I’m Lovin It!!
I’m Lovin it!!
Signed Yours Kenny”
I could feel a surge of anger envelop me. And yet I lay there helpless.
Had it not been for the surveillance cameras at the entrance of my home, I would have been in jail by now.
The police could clearly see Kenny carrying Stella’s body and breaking into my apartment.
They put out a nationwide notice for Kenny and he’s been on the run ever since.
Even after 2 months following Stella’s death, the police were not any closer to catching the culprit.
But I did apprise Henry’s dad of the situation. His life was also at risk after considering what happened to my girlfriend.
But our collective worry was for Henry. We didn’t want to see him suffer for no fault of his.
So I started training Henry to take his own safety seriously. I devised multiple safeguards to keep him protected while being outdoors. Always ensured that I was personally there to drop and pick him up from school.
My boss appreciated all that I was doing for his son. He knew I had taken Stella’s death hard.
He was a generous and compassionate man and I liked working for him.
Although he did notice I wasn’t my usual cheery self anymore.
One day when I was waiting at the office, he tossed the keys of his new car at me.
“This should perk you up. Take her for a spin” he said.
“And also go pick Henry up from school”, he finished as he left for a meeting.
I got down to the parking lot, and there she was … waiting. The new Bugatti Chiron.
I opened the door and took the driver’s seat. The fresh smell of the leather upholstery was already lifting my spirits.
‘Boss was right! I am perking up’, I thought to myself.
I drove around the block and stopped by McDonalds to pick up the usual order for me and Henry.
I felt a tinge of sadness when I could no longer see Stella at the counter.
Anyways, I picked the order and started my way towards school.
As I went past the restaurant, I saw an old jeep parked by the side of the road. I didn’t think much of it at that moment.
When I reached Henry’s school, I parked the car a few feet away from the entrance. A couple of minutes later, I noticed the same jeep I saw at McDonalds go past me and park 20 mts in front.
I would have never given it a second glance had I not spotted it at the restaurant.
The jeep had 3 passengers. They looked like bikers with tattoos, beard and long hair.
And then there was Kenny standing behind a tree to avoid detection. But I spotted him.
He was gesturing towards them to get ready. I could see his Harley parked just a few feet away.
They were planning some kind of ambush.
The school bell rang and the children were already out on the streets.
I could see Henry at a distance in the courtyard. He was slowly making his way towards the gate.
I immediately called him on the phone and told him to go to the Principals office and stay there. I made it clear under no circumstances was he to venture out until I gave him the all clear. He understood.
He was safe as long as he was within the school’s premises.
The next thing to do was move to another location. The children were already pouring onto the streets, and the last thing I wanted was to see a child getting hurt.
I started the car and went past the jeep before taking the next turn. I kept driving.
Few moments later, the jeep caught up with me and the driver violently swerved towards the left causing me to go off course. My car came to halt.
The guys quickly alighted from the jeep and they were all armed to the teeth.
Kenny came in his motorcycle and stopped his bike a few feet ahead of me. He took out his shotgun and had it aimed straight at my chest.
The firing started before I even had the time to react.
I instinctively ducked for cover with my eyes closed.
But in my heart, I knew my time was up!!
As the seconds went by, even with all those bullets being sent my way - my body felt strangely light.
‘Am I in heaven already?’ I thought to myself.
I slowly opened my eyes and tilted my head upwards to take a peak.
And I realized I was sitting in an armoured bullet proof car.
The entire biker gang were mad with rage, doing everything possible to penetrate that thick armour plate.
Kenny was barking orders at his gang to continue the onslaught. He then pointed his finger at me and yelled, “I am coming for you.”
I looked down at the seat next to mine and saw the takeout I had ordered.
Just to piss him off even further, I took out my Big Mac and slowly took a big bite.
I sat there in gastronomic bliss savouring my burger, while being under a continuous hail of bullets.
The firing suddenly stopped. Kenny the psycho was livid as hell - to see me have a good time.
I looked him in the eye while I took a sip of my favourite milkshake.
And then, continued to chomp on my burger.
He looked a little crestfallen at how his plan was misfiring and then frantically gestured his troops to keep at it. The firing started again.
But it didn’t last long. They eventually all ran out of ammo and his buddies began to flee the scene, as we could hear sirens at a distance.
The attack had taken a toll on the car. But it managed to withstand all that damage. All that firing.
A life saver!
I looked at Kenny again. Only one thought was running through my head now.
‘My Turn’.
I switched on the ignition and rammed the car straight into Kenny. He hit the bonnet hard while the car continued to race forward.
He was clinging on to dear life with his outstretched hands desperately clutching at the sides of the car.
Next in the demolition line, was his prized Harley Davidson.
I hit it full steam and watched it smash to smithereens - with parts scattering all across the road.
Then, I hit the brakes and Kenny was sent flying 10 feet forward.
After impact, he slowly staggered to his feet - all bloody and bruised.
His face was swollen like an apple.
He was pleading towards me with folded hands to show him mercy.
‘This is for Stella. And She’s lovin it’, I said out loud.
I hit the accelerator again.

2024.05.23 16:19 V6sa Rhodes car rental

Hey everyone,
I’m planning a trip to Rhodes and need some advice on renting a car. Here’s my situation:
I’m 20 years old and have had my driver’s license for over 2 years. I’ve heard that renting a car at my age can be tricky in some places. Does anyone know if I can rent a car in Rhodes with these credentials? Also, are there plenty of fuel stations around the island, or are there areas where it might be hard to find one? Are there any car rental companies I should avoid due to bad service or hidden fees? If I can’t rent a car, what are the best alternative transportation options? My accommodation is about 70 km from the airport, so I need a good way to get around.
Thanks in advance for your help!
