2024.05.19 03:31 AbdoulayeTarnagda Minimize Internet Usage On Self Improvement
If you're on self improvement, it's likely that all of your addictions are online.
Because no one who's been on self improvement for a couple months/years, is hooking up with girls, doing drugs, drinking alcohol, smoking weed, vaping or doing physical bad habits.
It's at least uncommon.
Most of our addictions aren't physical in the real world, they're on the internet.
Porn, internet articles, the news, youtube shorts, instagram reels, video games, netflix, that TV show or anime you're coping is "productive", twitter, tiktok, ai bots, Omegle, Monkey, wikipedia articles, web-surfing.
I constantly have seen myself in the past, pull back to the internet, and that's the last addiction I would say I still have to a degree, and it's likely you have it too. You're probably addicted to at least one part of the internet. Probably not video games anymore, I haven't played a video game since Summer break, July 2023, but you still see yourself relapsing on porn occasionally, you still see yourself unconsciously strolling sigma male shorts, or researching something that's a complete waste of time, you see a twitter tweet which references nazism, then an hour later, you wonder why you were reading wikipedia articles on the holocaust (true story a few days ago).
The internet is designed to be addictive, because most of the modern addictions are on the internet. Social media is on the internet, porn is on the internet, distracting web articles, click here, click there, and the solution is minimialism. This is what I've been trying to implement in my life recently.
Making it harder to use the internet because I don't want to get distracted by it. Even if you have willpower, it sneakily, gets to you, like a Genjutsu you don't realize you're in. You don't even realize that you're scrolling youtube shorts.
- Sleep with the phone far away from you. Don't sleep with the phone in your bed.
- Get in the habit of powering off devices when not in use. Don't just sign out, power it off.
- Leave your phone in another room while working
- Log off your social media accounts after usage. Making it so you have to log back in,
- Don't take your phone with you in the bathroom
- Delete your browser history often, because if you don't, the sneaky platforms will be autotyped in your URL bar
- Physically close your laptop as in close the top layer down to the bottom layer, don't just leave it open.
- Get a social media blocker on your devices
- If you're doing math homework/or work that doesn't revolve your device, don't turn on your device.
(These sound like boomer rules, but genuinely believe you should follow them. You should try to remove as much opportunities for internet addiction to seep in, because it will seep in. If you don't sleep with your phone far away from you, you're going to end up scrolling in bed.)
Technology and the internet is obviously needed for work, but you should in a sense, have an inclination to stay away from it, and use it as little as possible, only if it's needed. Because it's designed to be addictive and suck in your time.
I'm going to log out of discord even now, because I want to reduce the chance of the addictive powers of the internet affecting me. Maybe if I don't log off, I'll waste 2 hours fooling around in another server. My phone's powered off, because what if in 30 minutes I have to use the bathroom, in 30 minutes I could bring my phone with me and scroll motivational shorts for an hour in the bathroom, which paradoxically sucks away all of my motivation.
The internet is a place where you can develop and achieve financial freedom, but it's also a haven for multiple addictive platforms (porn, instagram, youtube, tiktok, twitter, video games, netflix, web articles), so try to minimize it. Have a genuine inclination to not use the internet unless absolutely needed. That's at least my current stance.

2024.05.15 01:42 Amaosys QueryDial 1.2 - Use Site Search, Snapshots in Extension Popup, and Share Search Engines you created with Links
| Hello Again! I am the developer of the app QueryDial. The version 1.2.0 is just released to the App Store. https://preview.redd.it/qunp5w5bah0d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=7479f1be3e47436581cb6f38b4dc8fffb139c7a2 Get it from App Store (US $3.99 / UK £3.99) If you don’t know what QueryDial does, it’s a cross-platform Safari Extension that allows you to assign custom shortcuts to websites and search engine and allow you to search with shortcuts: e.g. searching ‘yt cat videos’ in your address bar takes you right to YouTube searching ‘cat videos’. It’s like DuckDuckGo !Bangs plus an old fashioned search bar every browser used to have, but more powerful and flexible. New Features in this Release: - More search engines: we added more search engines and tools to the Gallery. You can now add site search services and web snapshot/archival tools to your library. These services can be accessed in QueryDial’s Popup (Tap the toolbar button located in Safari’s address bar, then tap ‘QueryDial’ to open it up, or use keyboard shortcut Command-Shift-F), and changed based on your current tab’s link.
- More customizable placeholders: other than {q}, you can now use {d} and {u} to represent the current tab's domain and link respectively in the Query URL; Search engines using {d} or {u} can only be used in the Popup.
- Share search engines using links: you can now copy shareable links (with prefix of `querydial://`)of your search engines so other users can easily add them to their library by clicking the link (or entering the link in the address bar)! Just right click/long press the search engines you wish to share and select ‘Copy Shareable Links’.
- Create new search engines when you browse in Safari: simply share the website you wish to use to QueryDial to create a new search engine and assign a shortcut to it. We will try our best fill the search engine info for you if the website provides a description on how to search the website (It supports OpenSearch Description standard).
The most exciting feature in 1.2.0 to me is the support of site search/cache services. It’s really useful when the website you are current browsing doesn’t have good searching support. Usually you can use Google or other search engine’s ‘site:’ syntax to let these search engines search the domain for you. Now with QueryDial, you can skip entering the domain name, just open the popup to access these site search services searching what you wish to search, it will automatically use your current active tab’s domain/link. Moreover, you can also use it with tools that load the ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ search result for you like Lucky Surf, so you can get the result quicker than ever. I know this may sound a bit complicated, so please feel free to ask me any questions about this app, or if you have any suggestions or feedback, please do let me know! =) submitted by Amaosys to macapps [link] [comments] |

2024.05.12 10:48 KlarDuCK Too much blocking?
Hello,
I've a question about my setup which gotten bigger over the time and I am asking myself: Is it a little bit TOO much?
My setup is:
- AdGuard (Yearly subscription) is installed on my system and phone and using the Assistant add on in browser for desktop. I've only standard lists (AdGuard Basic Filter, AdGuard Tracking Filter, AdGuard URL Tracking Filter, AdGuard Social Media Filter, AdGuard German Filter) in it with some exceptions.
- Next one is NextDNS: I love the service. It's super fast and secure, it's easy to setup and I've checked everything and blocks the most. Lists are "HaGeZi - Multi NORMAL" (with Pro I am facing some problems here and there) and AdGuard Mobile Blocking list (for the use on my phone where NextDNS is setup in AdGuard App) list in it but checked everything else which NextDNS is offering me. Most of the block happen here.
- Brave Browser: Using everything on aggressive, checked Easy List, Anti Newsletter List and ByPass Paywall List
My concern is: It's too much and slowing down my surf experience.
So I just want to ask: Which can I keep and which should I ditch to make it more useful, not multiple same blocker list on every app. Or change something around?! All filter list in NextDNS, nothing on browser / AdGuard, or whatever.
Or maybe I should use something totally different, or add something like uBlock Origin or change Browser or whatever. You tell me :)

2024.05.08 01:14 Affectionate-Many-46 [PC][1999-2002] A medieval action game where you play as a dragon-slaying knight but the dragons are giant humanoids.
Platform: PC
Genre: Medieval Action or Action RPG
Estimated Year of Release: 1999
Graphics/ art style: Similar to Dungeon Keeper. The player and enemies are a little bulky. The game was a demo on my Dad’s office computer and the entirety of the demo takes place in a dungeon interior.
Notable Characters: I think the main character is a Knight who is half-dragon and has a Dragonheart thing going on. Either the player or the enemies are reminiscent of the character Knightmare from Soul Calibur. The enemies are weird dragon knights or something. I think everyone has a sword.
Notable gameplay mechanics: The game stands out that you would direct the sword with the mouse during your swing, possibly? There weren’t many enemy types but the swordplay was very unique and quirky. The main character has a giant sword a la Knightmare from Soul Calibur. The demo guides you through several gameplay mechanics but was actually very difficult and scary for me to play as a kid. It was probably a little bloody, but my Dad was cool and let me play it several times. You would mostly just fight the Dragon Knights one at a time but sometimes the game threw two of them at you to fight at the same time. Health items were not very present and you pretty much had to play perfectly.
Other Details: I want to say the game title starts with a “T” or an “A”. It was some cool name like Armageddon but I know that many games were called something similar. I don’t even know if this game even made it to full release. My Dad worked at the University and he had T1 internet speeds even back then! We could download computer game demos from the internet in minutes. I used to surf the net all the time playing internet games and reading internet comics like BobandGeorge.com. Those were the good ol’ days. I really took the internet speeds for granted and I had a lot of fun typing random words into the URL search bar and putting dot com to find random websites. I also played on Shockwave.com and the Kellog cereal websites and of course later I was into Neopets! The other game demo my Dad had was Giants: Citizen Kabuto and it let you play the entire mermaid elf story.

They wrapped it up securely in bubble wrap and included some plastic corner protectors, which I thought was a nice touch. When I opened the box, I found the Quick Guide on top, along with a black braided USB-C cable and a switch/cap puller. Underneath the guide was the A75 Pro, snugly covered with a dust protector, an addition I really appreciated as a pet owner to keep the dust and hair away from my precious when I am AFK. Overall, it was a premium to the point unboxing experience with thoughtful packaging. - Impressive packaging from DrunkDeer for the A75 Pro
- Securely wrapped in bubble wrap with plastic protectors
- Dust protector appreciated as a pet owner

From the moment I held it, the weight and materials felt exceptional, comparable to more well-known brands. The keyboard has a slight forward slant, and while the frame is plastic, it features aluminium accents. The red aluminium strip where you’ll also find the USB-C port to the side and on the back and the logo also in aluminium add a stylish touch I really like. Speaking of accents, the red detailing throughout the design is a standout feature for me. If I were to be overly critical, my only nitpicky complaint would be the orange print on the Esc and arrow keys of the Cherry PBT keycaps, which I expected to be red to match the theme better. However, this is a minor detail. One notable addition to the design is the shock-absorbing kick-out feet. Initially, I thought they might be more of a gimmick, but they give a much more comfortable gaming experience, especially during intense gameplay you feel that bit of dampening. Overall, the A75 Pro boasts a robust and high-quality build, packed with some nice features and some impressive looks to compliment all that. - DrunkDeer A75 Pro has exceptional build quality
- Comparable to top brands in weight and materials
- Stylish aluminium accents and red detailing add flair
- Minor complaint about orange print on ESC & arrow keycaps instead of red
- Shock-absorbing kick-out feet enhance gaming comfort
- Overall, robust construction and impressive design

I must say, I have no complaints about the keycaps. I like the font they've used and the fact that the legends are printed more towards the top side rather than centered on the keys. Moving on to the knob, it's made of metal and feels fantastic, thanks to the nice knurling that provides excellent grip. The notches are also well-defined and knob button itself is satisfyingly tactile although a bit heavy to press. Overall, the combination of the knob and keycap set adds yet another premium touch to the A75 Pro. - A75 Pro offers two keycap options: OEM PBT B Orange Shine Through and Cherry PBT Black Grey Orange
- I have the Cherry PBT option and like the font and positioning of legends
- Metal knob feels fantastic with excellent grip from knurling

Coming from custom optical switches, I'm still getting the hang of them, but I'm impressed by their solid and stable feel. They not only enhance gaming but also provide a delightful typing experience. Personally, I'd consider adjusting the springs on the switches, but DrunkDeer offers a solution with different actuation force springs. The stock springs have an initial force of 30gf and a maximum of 60gf, with a tolerance of +/- 10gf, aligning them with the Lekker 60 switches in terms of specifications. However, I've heard great feedback about the 40g springs and plan to try them soon.Overall, these switches offer a smooth feel, thanks to their magnetic design, and come with impressive features. They're a joy to use for both typing and gaming, and I have no complaints about their performance. - The RAESHA Magnet-White Switches on the A75 Pro are my first experience with magnetic switches, and I'm impressed by their stability and performance for gaming and typing.
- I'm considering trying different actuation force springs for a personalized feel, but the stock springs are already quite balanced.
- Overall, these switches offer a smooth and enjoyable experience without any performance issues.

Initially, I had my settings a bit off, leading to some erratic movements that felt like I was wrestling with a toddler. However, after fine-tuning the actuation points, it's been a game-changing experience. I find myself making precise movements effortlessly, especially in tactical shooters where peeking has never felt smoother. Micro-adjustments are a breeze, and in games like Apex, tap strafing and super glides have become second nature after mastering the settings. I have to highlight the impact on my gameplay—my super glide success rate has shot up from around 50% to a solid 75%, and I feel much more confident nailing those crucial maneuvers. Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with this feature and can't imagine going back to a keyboard without it. - A75 Pro's adjustable actuation is a game-changer
- Fine-tuning led to effortless precise movements
- Success rate in complex maneuvers, like super glides, improved significantly
- Enhanced confidence and smoother gameplay in tactical shooters
Credit: AimAdapt Internals I didn't dare to take apart my A75 Pro since DrunkDeer advises against it, and I have a tendency to break things, so I decided not to risk it. Instead, I reached out to Liam from AimAdapt, and I want to give him a huge shoutout for allowing me to use his image of the exploded view of the A75 Pro. Now, I've already discussed the case and frame in the build quality section. However, upon removing the frame, you're greeted by the aluminum plate that's mounted to the PCB, with a layer of Poron foam sandwiched between them for sound dampening.Underneath the PCB, there's another layer of EMPA foam and a silicone pad. It seems like DrunkDeer has already implemented some fantastic mods, leaving little reason for users to disassemble the A75 Pro. The only thing I might consider trying later is a painter's tape mod but I am still hesitant about that because like I said tendencies. - Avoided disassembling the A75 Pro following DrunkDeer's advice, due to a history of breaking things
- Contacted Liam from AimAdapt for an exploded view image, giving him a shoutout for the assistance
- Detailed the build quality, highlighting the aluminum plate and Poron foam for sound dampening
- Mentioned EMPA foam and a silicone pad under the PCB, showcasing DrunkDeer's effective modifications
- Considering a painter's tape mod in the future but cautious due to personal tendencies

You simply visit the URL, set your preferences, and you're good to go. The software offers the flexibility to create different profiles for various games, remap keys for a variety of functions and characters even assign multimedia controls or bind mouse buttons to the A75 Pro. Customizing the RGB lighting is a breeze, just switch to the RGB tab and personalize to your heart's content. I'll delve deeper into the RGB features shortly. Now, let's talk about the key features of the software. Firstly, there's Turbo Mode (activated by pressing Menu key + T, indicated by blue RGB lighting) which delivers incredibly low latency, only 1ms behind Wooting and some of the lowest on the market. Then, there's the Rapid Trigger Mode, enabling you to release and press keys at a much faster rate than standard keyboards allow. Next up is the Set Actuation Point feature. Simply select the keys you want to adjust the actuation point for, slide the slider to your desired point, and even enable Keystroke Tracking to help find a comfortable actuation point for you by visualizing the key downstroke. Key Sensitivity setting allows you to adjust how far you need to press or release to activate or deactivate the switch, offering even more precise movement. Overall, the web-based software is feature-packed and incredibly user-friendly, making customization a seamless experience. - Web-based software for easy customization without extra installations
- Create profiles, remap keys, and bind mouse buttons
- Customizable RGB lighting with various effects
- Turbo Mode for low latency, Rapid Trigger Mode for faster key presses
- Set Actuation Point for precise adjustments
- Key Sensitivity setting for enhanced movement control
RGB Now, let's talk RGB lighting, it's one of those things that can be a hit or miss depending on who you ask. Personally, I'm quite okay with it, and the RGB lighting on the DrunkDeer A75 Pro is impressive. It's bright and adds a nice touch, especially since I often use my keyboard in a dimly lit room where it helps illuminate my keys. However, I do have a small gripe that the static colors option. It only offers preset colors like Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Light Blue, and White. While these are decent, I would have appreciated more customization options to create my own static colors. On the brighter side (pun intended!), the effects options are plentiful and diverse. There's Rotate Marquee, Always On, Spectrum, Breath, Light by Press, Wave Spectrum, Center Surfing, Surfing Down, Ripple, Colorful Fountain, Traffic, Gluttonous Snake, Repeat Surfing, Surfing Cross, and Laser Key. Personally I don’t like effect but to each his own, and making somewhat up for the limited static color choices. - Bright and impressive RGB lighting on the A75 Pro
- Illuminates keys well in dimly lit rooms
- Limited static color options (Red, Green, Blue, etc.)
- Diverse range of effects like Rotate Marquee, Spectrum, Breath, etc.
- Effects make up for limited static color choices

Moving on to the overall performance, I have absolutely no complaints. I haven’t experienced any delays or issues, and the keyboard feels snappy and responsive whether I’m gaming or using it for everyday tasks. - Turbo Mode offers low latency, 1ms behind top competitors
- Overall performance is excellent, no delays or issues
- Keyboard feels snappy and responsive for gaming and everyday use
Personal Performance Speaking from my own experience, I've never performed better in games than with the A75 Pro. I know it might sound like I'm a shill, but this keyboard truly feels like a game-changer, almost like having a movement hack at your fingertips. With the custom actuation point feature, you can set keys to have a super high trigger point, resulting in the most precise and on-point movements, especially in tactical shooters. Transitioning the A75 Pro into fast-paced shooters feels even more incredible. I primarily tested it in Apex Legends, and my Super Glides have gone from being hit or miss to consistently nailing them almost every time. But it doesn't stop there, once you've fine-tuned your settings to your liking, everything just feels smoother and more fluid. For personal performance, I can genuinely vouch for the A75 Pro as a game-changer. - Improved performance in games, especially tactical shooters
- Custom actuation point feature enhances precision in movements
- More consistent success in complex maneuvers

2024.05.03 14:54 xBotvernor [xGov-203] WARN..SCAM bot retroactive & txn fees (on-chain scam warnings) - D13
Abstract
Retroactive & fee funding request for the WARN..SCAM bot. It has been "dusting" scam warnings to recipients of "scam dusting" transactions since October 2022. This proposal requests some funding retroactively for the service that has been provided already, with 10,000 ALGO going to the bot account for transaction fees.
Team
- Bit D13: Smart contract/dApp/web developer & whitehat hacker
Experience with Algorand
Smart contract & dApps:
Web 2.5 sites:
Whitehat work:
Community work:
Full CV here.
Present Proposal
Since October 2022,
WARN..SCAM has delivered
5,244,514 warning transactions to 319,416 addresses (current as of April 25th, 2024.)
Three types of warning notes are sent:
- Generic "beware of links" note: "Do NOT trust random transaction notes - NEVER follow links from them. (We think you just got one). Bookmark important URLs and keep your wallet safe."
- Confirmed scam warning: "The airdrop site you were just spammed with is a KNOWN phishing site attempting to scam you. Do NOT connect or give your phrase to that site!"
- Confirmed scam warning with identified target: "The transaction you just received a KNOWN phishing scam impersonating Defly. Do NOT connect or give your phrase to that site!"
The few legitimate projects that do send links in transaction notes are excluded with a manually curated list.
WARN..SCAM runs through my private network of nodes through a highly available load balancer. The most transactions per hour were recorded on March 27th, 2024: approx. 62,000 sent between 4 and 5 AM UTC.
The transaction fees so far have been mostly funded by individual community members who responded to a call for donations after the funds I provided were depleted.
Deliverable
WARN..SCAM has been active since October 2022. It has been continuously iterated and fine-tuned to adapt to the changing nature of on-chain dusting attacks.
Of the requested amount, 10,000 ALGO will be allocated to the WARN..SCAM bot account to fund transactions.
The proposal does not include open-sourcing the code, as that would provide a blueprint for scammers to evade it.
I intend to keep running the bot as long as it is funded. If I am unable to do so, I will either find an alternative operator to continue, or open source the code.
Future Blueprint
This section is strictly informational. The grant request is retroactive and does not promise delivery of these changes.
A sustainable future WARN..SCAM bot could utilize Ora mining.
With Algorand's fee pooling feature, the warning transactions could be bundled in an atomic group with an Ora mining transaction. The mining application call would cover the fees for the entire group, and mine some ORA tokens which could then be sold for ALGO to replenish the bot's coffers.
While I intend to pursue this approach and test its viability,
this is not a milestone of the present grant proposal. It is included as a possible path to follow for building a more sustainable version of the bot.
Benefits for the community
Scam prevention & education.
By issuing these warning transactions, WARN..SCAM hopes to warn and educate Algorand users about the nature of specific scam links, and generally about following links from transaction notes, wherever the users may happen to view these transactions: wallets, explorers, etc.

2024.04.22 20:39 sy03rei10 Use Flask as backend and Angular as frontend
2 EDITs DOWN BELOW [IT IS SOLVED]
(please excuse any english errors, its not my first language)
Hello! I am an amateur programmer, currently on my last year of computer engineering degree, and I need to create a system that consist in: Client - Angular application Server - Flask server as backend that uses some python scripts form a local system
So, I hope I made my self clear with the details of the whole system. The thing is that I don't really know how to make the client request things from the server. I have tried things like this:
In the flask app.py:
.route('/getconcepts', methods=['GET']) def get_concepts(): [...] return jsonify(concepts) if __name__ == '__main__': app.run(port=5000, debug=True)
Then, in the angular client:
export class LeftNavigationComponent implements OnInit { archiveLinkList: Archivelink[] = []; constructor(private http: HttpClient) {} ngOnInit(): void { this.http.get('http://localhost:5000/getconcepts').subscribe( (concepts: string[]) => { this.archiveLinkList = concepts.map((concept, index) => ({ // Archivelink parameters id: index, concept: encodeURIComponent(concept), url: `/display?concept=${encodeURIComponent(concepto)}` })); }, error => { console.error('Error fetching concepts:', error); } ); }
The angular client can be access by localhost:42000
I does not work and I cant find anythings that fixes my problem. If anyone has any idea I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks! Have a great day
Edit: Hi everyone, thanks for your responses. I have corrected a typo I made when writing this post. My first language is Spanish so some of the code was in Spanish. I tried to translate it in English for this post so it reached a bigger audience hehe.
Also, I already have a print in the Flask function get_concepts() and it does not show up in the terminal which means the request is not functioning properly.
I am currently working on it (will be checking out
https://angular.io/guide/build as @
funny_lyfe said), I will update :D
Edit 2: I DID IT!
It took me an embarrassing amount of time to be honest, but I was surfing from deprecated explanation to another.
I will explain some things to give back to the community, thanks for everyone that answered! :D
Ok, first of all, https://angular.io/guide/build (section 'Proxying to a backend') approach is deprecated, specifically step 3: adding the following code to angular.json.
"options": { "browserTarget": "your-application-name:build", "proxyConfig": "src/proxy.conf.json" }
Now, I was previously following this tutorial: Build your first Angular app
I didn't finished because I figured (WRONG) I didn't need some of the ending steps for my project. Well, I did.
This is the way I solved everything, there might be another approach but this is what ended up working for me:
- Creating a service in the angular app.
Angular services provide a way for you to separate Angular app data and functions that can be used by multiple components in your app.
This is optional, but I did it anyway just so I learnt how to.
- Use a injectable.
import { Injectable } from '@angulacore';: Imports the Injectable function from Angular, which is used to mark the class as a service that can be injected into other classes.
- Add the HTTP communication, following this step of the tutorial
This is how you can connect to the data, the data must be published in a route, mine is localhost:5000/getconcepts
So, this is the service I created to test it:
import { Injectable } from '@angulacore'; import { Archivelink } from './archivelink'; // my data class @Injectable({ providedIn: 'root' }) export class MyService { constructor() { } url = 'http://localhost:5000/getconcepts'; async getAllArchiveLink(): Promise { // uses asynchronous code to make a GET request const data = await fetch(this.url); return await data.json() ?? []; } }
- We use the service in the component we desire
import {MyService} from '../myservice.service'; export class LeftNavigationComponent{ archiveLinkList: Archivelink[] = []; myService: MyService = inject(MyService); constructor() { this.myService.getAllArchiveLink().then((archiveLinkList: Archivelink[]) => { this.archiveLinkList = archiveLinkList; }); } }
- Modify the app.py file so everything works properly
An error I encountered was that I did the GET request but the data was not shown. While review the log in the navigator terminal, I found out it was a CORS error.
from flask import Flask, request from flask_cors import CORS app = Flask("api test", static_url_path='/static') CORS(app) # VERY IMPORTANT @app.route('/getconcepts', methods=['GET']) def get_concepts(): [... get the concepts (in my code, as a json file) ...] return concepts if __name__ == '__main__': app.run(port=5000, debug=True)
And that's it, it works fine for me, luckily.
Hope this helps somebody! Thanks again for everything, have a great day (night for me jeje) :D
