2024.06.04 16:51 Weak-East4370 Win them without a word

Vault 669, location: Midland, TX.
Can the gays be won to Christ without being actively preached to? Let’s find out!
Vault 669 is sold as an animal husbandry and ranching operation located deep in Texas. Allegedly, the mission is to run a ranch that will breed various livestock for supplies and experimentation. Residents were allegedly recruited because they were willing to do hard, dirty labor and had little hope of getting into a vault otherwise, and therefore were desperate.
Of course, the livestock is a secondary mission. The real recruiting missing is to target 150 totally homosexual individuals with no children, although being partnered with one another was acceptable.
All of the overseer and the Vault staff were recruited from various evangelical churches, with Overseer Michaels being a pastor of 25 years. Their mission? Convert the heathen homosexuals to Christ by “winning them without a word.” No preaching, no starting religious talk, no mandatory prayers. Just a staff that seems so blissfully happy being Christian, that the queerosexuals can’t possibly resist!
The vault would be fairly neutral in most places, although the chapel will be beautifully decorated and welcoming. Prayers are said in the morning and before all meals. Staff are required to seem at peace and confident at all times, and credit any of their success to their faith in Christ. They are to practice kindness and pacifism at all times, even in the face of conflict in the vault. There is a full library, but any mention of other religions is strictly prohibited. Vault staff are all heterosexual with spouses and at least two children.
The final hypothesis: staff attitudes and lifestyle, combined with long days of hard manual labor, will convert at least 80% of vault residents into heterosexual Christians, and within 10 years, the conversion to a fully heterosexual Christian vault will be complete.
How it went down:
You guys don’t actually think the Rainbow Fam is stupid, right??
Overseer Michaels, a very gay man in the closet, saw his chance and acted. He used his position as a pastor to convince VaulTec to let him handle the recruiting, arguing he knew enough closeted homosexual people to make sure the vault was full. He worked tirelessly, holding secret meetings and getting the word out. He recruited several highly trained and intelligent individuals, enough to create a staff of his own, but submitted their applications as farm hands and other manual labor positions to ensure admissions.
68 hours after the vault was inhabited and permanently sealed, Operation Rainbow Hell was launched. One of the secret experts was an advanced computer engineer and former VaulTec employee, who was fired for being gay and admitted under an assumed identity. He knew just enough about the system to fake a catastrophic fertilizer explosion in the vault, making it appear that the vault was destroyed and everyone in it was dead.
Next, Ov. Michaels brought all staff, designated and infiltrated, for a meeting. He assured the Christian staff that they were still welcome to live in the vault and practice their faith openly, but the purpose of the vault had changed. He said Christ wouldn’t leave gay people to die in the apocalypse just because they were gay, and he wouldn’t either. If they weren’t safe for the new vault culture, they would have to leave.
The results:
Five of the VaulTec staff burst into grateful tears and came out on the spot, at which point the original Chief Engineer Butcher pulled out a contraband gun. He declared that he was taking over as overseer, and the rest of the VaulTech staff was ordered to join him in subduing the infiltrators.
Nobody moved for ten second. Finally, his second engineer stood up, calmly walked over, took the gun out of his hand, and looked him in the eye.
“Sir, Jesus would tell you to shut the fuck up.”
And so, a Rainbow Dawn did dawn. The two VaulTec staffs integrated fairly effortlessly, and the husbandry mission proceeded on schedule. Thanks to the technology provided for that mission, the human vault dwellers were able to artificially reproduce. Children were raised communally, and the rate of chid abuse was less than 1%. Conflict existed, but the incarceration facility was rarely used as more than a drunk tank.
Interestingly enough, many members of the vault did end up converting to Christianity! The VaulTec staff didn’t automatically let go of their faith, and still engaged in rich religious practices. Overseer Michael still presided over services, with his last sermon being a mere 14 hours before he passed peacefully at 81 years old.
His husband, retired Chief Engineer Butcher, died peacefully at his side the same night.
(Happy pride month to all of my rainbow family! I hope we all have a safe and beautiful month!!!!)

2024.06.04 16:30 Faziri 30 [M4F] Belgium/online -- geek looking for geekette [discord LDR, close contact, visits optional]

Bio

Hi, so I'm a 30M from Antwerp. I develop software 9-5 (considering going freelance soon) and work for a medical emergency service now and then. Leisure time is mostly walks and bike rides on which I love to take photos, non-competitive and retro gaming (I love to get immersed in a story), anime and movies/series, various neatly cataloged music (started with soundtracks and later got into calm electronic), shopping for gadgets and tiny home improvements, little digital projects like writing automations or trying new tools, reading too many wikipedia pages, and just resting. Once my spine has recovered from surgery, I'm joining a private gym to go swimming regularly. It's a peaceful life.
My wardrobe's all polo shirts and jeans, doc martens boots/shoes/sandals, my favorite jacket and shoulder bag, and some seasonal hats. Average height, a little extra on me but I'm fit and strong, short brown hair and brown eyes, pale skin but seeing more sun in recent years.
It's tricky to describe myself but I like to think I'm fairly calm and rational above all else, but of course I get excited or angry too. I have my need to vent but I do my best to be positive, and especially when in company I want to cherish the time by enjoying and doing things, not waste it. I love to find the little beauties and niceties in life. Noise and crowds push me away, sloppy work and subpar results irritate me. If I see something that could be improved, I will find someone to impart the idea to and hope for the best (or do it myself). In discussions people often interrupt and speak over me despite my not saying much to begin with, which I think is incredibly rude since I always let others finish. Maybe it's my voice, but at least the last girl I met here told me I have a lovely one.

Goal

My only experience is in online LDRs and I want one again, but it'd optionally be great if you were close enough to visit too (BE/NL/DE). Hanging out at each other's place sounds like a mini vacation to me, and being together physically obviously has its perks. Only having texts, photos, and voice/cam calls is absolutely good enough for me too though.
We should share some interests. In particular I'd like you to be at least somewhat into playing co-op and/or watching me stream interesting bits of a game in a voice call, or to talk about solo games you've played. It'd be great if you had some technical interests too, like wanting to know how everything digital or mechanical works, or likewise looking up lots of stuff you encounter in a day on wikipedia just to know more. Even better if you have any kind of crafty hobby or passion (making pull tab chainmail? Figurines? Soldering circuitry? Painting?) and want to show that to me, let me watch you work or send me pictures of the results.

Expectations

We're both adults with busy lives but I'd like not all messages to be "async" (send & forget), there should be some dedicated 1 to 1 discussion without much distraction in a day too. The little things, "face-to-face courtesies" like saying afk/brb instead of just disappearing mid-convo, and saying hi every day and goodnight before we go to sleep, are important. They make the difference between a penpal and a real friend. :)
For the same reason, 24/7 DnD or Invisible status is not ok, we should be quite available to each other and if you're already hiding from your friends then there's no future with you for me. I expect efforts to go both ways, i.e. don't let me do all the talking, photographing, initiating, suggesting quality time activities, etc. A totally passive/reactive attitude and endless excuses for never really doing anything are synonyms for ending it. Standing me up, as in saying "we'll spend time later today" but then never even sending another message that day, not even a sorry and goodnight, is a quick exit from my friends list. We all forget or mistake things and change our minds, but some people seem to attach no value at all to words and the schedules of others, and I'm not one of those.
Having a laptop/desktop setup with a good headset, in addition to your phone, is strongly preferred: for voice call quality, being able to do things together handsfree and on a big screen while we talk, and games of course. If you can manage the same quality experience from a phone, you're a specialist and I welcome it, but I'll sooner expect to see a unicorn.

Closing

For compatibility, I'm not asexual nor super vanilla so please be likewise and openminded. Long term matter, obviously. I won't move anywhere soon since I love the place where I live now and put a lot into it. I love pets but don't have any. Discord's my main chat/call app, I speak Dutch and English (French if necessary but not as our main language).
Please send me a chat or PM if you're interested. Let's talk in reddit chat until we're comfortable going to discord, which I consider a commitment to get to know each other more closely and exclusively from that point on. :)

2024.06.04 16:27 Existing-Tale-1768 miserable when I’m back home [venting]

I recently got back from a week long trip to my hometown- also where my boyfriend, friends, and sole life has always been.
For context I moved cross country about 9 months ago with my parents as they began their retirement. I decided to go along with them as I couldn’t afford to live in CA alone. I kept the mindset that I’m young and I can always move back. My goal was/is to save as much as I can until I am in the financial position to move back. With this, came the sacrifice of going LDR.
Thankfully, my boyfriend and I have been in a position where we could see eachother on average every 1.5 months. For this past trip, I was able to work my job remotely due to a unique set of circumstances. It was such an amazing week. Life felt so carefree, peaceful, fun, etc. Hanging out with friends, being with my s/o, coming home together and settling down after work... all that plus the small things. Life felt back to normal before the move.
I’ve had a difficult time establishing friendships and a fulfilling life here in the East Coast. Being 23, it’s a bit more difficult to make friends as an ambivert. I work full time and find most of my life on a work-gym-sleep cycle with some hobbies sprinkled in throughout the week.
Life here feels so suffocating and mundane. I was able to find a really good job which I’m thankful for, but I’m also open to leaving. Given the current job climate, I’m staying here to build my experience until we close the gap. Our goal is to move in together once he graduates- about another year or so. I don’t want to be naive and think that moving back will fix all my problems, but I do think it would resolve a lot of sadness and mundane-ness. Our families love one another, and I’m confident he’s the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. I try not to get too sad because I don’t want to burden him or bring pesimissim amongst myself. These are just the circumstances that we’re in right now, but it’ll be worth it in the end 😭
Anyways, guess I’m just on here to share that I’m sad right now, and if anyone can relate to my situation or offer some hope, I’d love to read.

2024.06.04 16:08 Moist_Membership_640 Advice

Long backstory here. Me and my wife have been married for almost 9 years. I had a kid with someone else prior to marriage. Me and my wife would go to my mom’s house, and every time we would say anything, my kids mom would hear about it. We never said anything bad about her. One day she asked to have her back home a couple days early and I was telling my mom about it, and I said how no her day to go back home is this day, that’s when she will go home. Got a text from my kids mom talking about it. So me and my wife went to my mom’s house so that I can confront her. She denied telling her, and eventually told my wife that she needs to learn her place. Which really took me back, cuz my mom herself is a step mom. I have gone to very limited contact with her, and the rest of my family, cuz they are all just like her. Me and my wife have two kids now and only live 5 minutes away from my mom. My mom only tends to want to visit when I have my oldest daughter, but never comes over to see my other two kids. I will not go to her house, cuz herself, my sister, and her husband live there, and all chain smoke cigarettes all day and I refuse to take my kids into a wall of smoke. I’ve tried to talk to her, and explain my feelings, but she doesn’t think that she’s done any wrong here. My wife’s parents love all of my kids, and actually make an effort to be in their lives so I allow them to take my kids with them when they go on vacation. This upsets my mom, cuz I don’t even let her around my kids if I’m not there. I’ve made the attempt to talk to her about all of this, but she just doesn’t understand what she’s done and said has done damage to me and my wife. Is there anything I can do to salvage the relationship with my mom? If not, I’ve kind of made peace with it, it just sucks

[Xbox] Ruby Radiance Diplomatic Ship
The Ruby Radiance is a peacekeeping diplomatic vessel. Weapons are mostly concealed so as not to provoke a violent response and help complete missions peacefully. However, in a pinch, the weapons are more the enough to get the ship out of any situation.
There are no ladders, and the captains quarters are just below the cockpit via the stairs. The rest of the living space is in the back of the ship.

2024.06.04 15:52 CommercialBee6585 Reborn as a Fantasy General (Army-Building Isekai) Chapter 58

[Previous] [First] [Patreon] [Join the Cult of the Unclean]
Commander Corvaughn sat back, fury seeping from every pore of his pudgy features.
"In my world," Marcus continued. "There are many men such as you. Men of honor. Most of them fight to the last man, their hands stained with the blood of their loyal soldiers who will leave grieving widows and sons behind when they die. Such men, however, do not think of these things. Death and glory – that's their mantra. But some men exist who understand that there can be honor even in defeat – in giving his people the chance to fight another day. A chance to go home to their loved ones. I am willing to offer you and your people this."
"You mean," the Dwarf said. "You'll kill my men if I refuse your 'terms'."
Marcus shrugged. "The decision is yours, Sir. I know your men are probably as ready to die as you are. The question is, are you ready to let them? Or will you put your pride aside and allow them to go home to their families?"
The Dwarf snarled like a cornered panther, every fiber of his bulging muscles willing him to throw himself at the human and rip him to shreds.
"You speak of 'honor'," he spat. "Something you pretend to understand. But your words ring hollow, human. Ye don't fight with honor."
"No," Marcus agreed. "You did. And now, here we are."
Marcus let silence hang in the stank air of the ramshackle Spearclaw prison. His rats outside were ready in case the Dwarf tried to rampage through the door. He could do it. Marcus knew the strength in those bulging arms was probably great enough to break his binds and rend at least him and five rats limb for limb before the fort's ratguard put him down.
But he didn't. Instead, Marcus watched him sigh with the weariness of a man who realized, finally, that he'd been beaten.
"…what do ye want?" he eventually asked.
"Your weapons," Marcus said, keeping composed in spite of the fact he was finally coming to the crux of his argument. "Tell your soldiers to relinquish their firearms, tell them to drop their hammers, and tell them to leave every bullet behind. Their armor they can keep. I can't give you back your hurt pride, but I can promise your men a safe journey home."
Corvaughn's eyes buzzed with activity. His brain was a blur of possibilities, possible eventualities…each one warped by his anger in the face of utter capitulation.
"Ye want our guns," he said, slowly. "Ye want their power fer yer own."
He met Marcus's eyes again with pure spite.
"Ye could just kill us all and take them," he said. "Why are ye even offering me any deal?"
"Because," Marcus said. "I'm not here to commit genocide. I'm not here to extinguish the light that so clearly still burns in the chest of you and all your people. You've been at war down here for – what? Decades? Centuries? Perhaps, like these ratmen, war is part of your nature. Perhaps not. Perhaps there's something, or someone, who can give you something else to believe in."
Marcus stood, patting down his dirtied trench coat and smiling with a strange hint of nostalgia at the glasses-wearing ratman symbol on his coat-sleeve.
"Either way, I think you should be given the chance to make a different choice one day. You can't do that if you're all dead. And from what I've seen of your people, you don't deserve annihilation. Only one creature in this Underkingdom has to die, now. And his day is coming."
Commander Corvaughn scoffed in the face of the human's determination, keeping his posture straight as he looked up and addressed Marcus without hesitation.
"Ye've got some nerve for a Lank," he said. "I'll give ye that much. But don't spin me this shit about 'respect' for our kind. Your people above have only ever made war. It's the one thing you know how ta do – take the lands of others and leave nothing but scraps behind. Either that, or burn it all like a wee child playing with dangerous toys. Yer just like the rats. And now yer giving 'em even more dangerous toys ta play with. You mark me, boy, one day they'll turn those toys on you. And then ye'll have no one ta blame but yerself. Then, ye'll wish ye'd chosen a more honorable path."
Marcus crossed his arms behind his back. He was done with the conversation.
"Your decision, Sir?" he asked the panting dwarf. "Will you march your men home or watch them bleed out on our lands?"
"'Our lands!' Corvaughn spat. "'Our lands', he says!"
"I won't ask again, Commander."
"Fuck it," the Dwarf said – his voice guttural and cold. "Take the guns. Take the bullets. Let my people go in peace. But I've got one condition."
Marcus tried to keep from scoffing.
"Condition?" he asked. "You're in no position to-"
"Take me," the Dwarf said, eyeing Marcus with no fury now – only total conviction in his words. "Kill me here and now."
As Marcus opened his mouth to interject, Corvaughn continued, the utterly serious, morose tone of his voice stopping Marcus from speaking over what were the Dwarf's last words:
"Yer wrong about somethin'," he said. "Yeah, my men can go home. They can return to their families and fight another day. Yer giving us that much – whether it's out of a naïve sense of 'good faith' or just because yer time in this realm has left ye insane – that's somethin'. But fer those of us who abide by the Stone, who lead men into the meat grinder of battle, there is no surrender. There is no quarter. We don't go home. There's a line we cross one day – and when it's crossed, there's no turnin' back. I'm not going home as a failed commander. I'm not going home ta look my wife and son in their eyes and tell them I turned tail and fled from a buncha thieving rats and their Lank commander from the arse end of some other world. I am Corvaughn Knox of House Darragut – Dwarf of the Underkingdom and vassal of King Lokir Garrison, First of His Name. By my King, by the Stone, and for the honor of my House, I lay my body and soul to rest. Kill me however ye please, human. Feed me ta yer soldiers' putrid Queen or have yer barbaric priests put me ta the flame. I'm done with this life. I'm already dead."
If Marcus was the same man he was when first he'd set foot in this accursed underground, he'd probably have argued back when the Dwarf finished his death-speech and then sat back, staring off into a distance that didn't even exist.
Instead, he bowed, saluted the fallen soldier, and promptly exited the room.
To the guards waiting outside he directed only one simple command before shrugging again and proceeding to the fort battlements.
"He's a brave man," he told them. "Let him die like one."

Magazines articles about Junko Furuta
Here are a few magazines I found about Junko Furuta. Seeing the first picture, the famous year book photo in full length, is so saddening. You could tell she was a happy teenager and a good high school student. She had her whole life ahead of her. May she rest in eternal peace.
Junko, we all will never forget you and we love you. We will remember you as the gentle and kind person you were. Fly high, angel. 🕊️❤️

2024.06.04 15:39 TheDreadPirateRobots [Have Gun - Will Travel] - 1.11

[INDEX]
I fell asleep nearly as soon as my head touched the pillow, all my tension and worries completely drained by Sadie at the peepshow while Cindy danced and watched with an approving eye.
[Enter Dreamworld? Y/N]
I selected [Y] and emerged in the familiar Inner Sanctum where I gave Mirror-Me a quick set of finger-guns before turning my attention to the computer. I wanted to know about my Apps and Utilities before setting out on my first bounty.
Settling into the comfortable chair, I entered my password and opened [System Settings] which contained a list of installed programs. I began scrolling through the listing, making mental notes of what I had and to investigate what was available.
[HumanOS 3.0] The premiere operating system for all Humans. Upgrades lower the usage cost for all Apps and Utilities. It is recommended that the OS level should always be higher than the Application and Utility levels. Usage of Apps and Utilities increases their levels, neglect will lower them. New Apps and Utilities can be purchased in the App Store. Alternative Operating Systems are also available.
[Labourer 1.0] A generic class assigned to all unskilled individuals. At higher levels the option for [Foreman] will become available. Can be combined with various other classes for minor increases in skillsets.
[Bounty Hunter 2.1] A rare combination of Ranger, Rogue, Investigator, and Gunslinger, this class focuses on catching Bounties — human or otherwise. Includes Quickdraw, Aimed Shot, Haymaker, Close Combat, Marksmanship, Bounty Sense, Traps and Gadgets, Intimidation, Tracking, Survival, Stealth, Negotiation, Second Wind Advancement in App level adds new Utilities and decreases cost of Utilities
[Psychic Skills 1.3] The untamed basis of all magic, Psychic Skills are hard to master and terrifying in power. Does not require a MSP for use. Includes: Aura Manipulation, Auric Sight, Dreamworld, Mind Over Matter, Regeneration, Disassembly Advancement in App level adds new Utilities and decreases cost of Utilities
After looking over the Apps I scrolled down to the Utilities and read through their information.
[Quickdraw 2.1]: Draw weapons or items with exceptional speed, giving an advantage in combat situations where quick reflexes are crucial. Active 20BP/3
[Aimed Shot 2.1]: Enhances the ability to focus and aim precisely, increasing the accuracy and damage of ranged attacks. Active 20BP/3
[Haymaker 1.0]: Unleashes a powerful, unrefined melee attack with immense force, capable of staggering or knocking down opponents. Active 10BP/3
[Bounty Sense 1.0]: Grants an innate ability to sense the presence and location of bounties or valuable targets nearby, aiding in tracking and pursuit. Variable 100BP/3
[Traps and Gadgets 1.0]: Proficiency in setting, locating, or disarming traps and utilising various gadgets for strategic advantage, whether it's disabling enemies, creating diversions, or gaining information. Variable 100BP/3
[Intimidation 1.0]: Instill fear or awe in others through presence, speech, or actions, influencing their behaviour or willingness to cooperate. Active 100BP/3
[Tracking 1.0]: Heightens the ability to follow trails, footprints, or other signs left by targets or creatures, facilitating navigation and pursuit. Passive 100BP/3
[Survival 1.0]: Grants essential skills and knowledge for surviving in harsh environments, including finding food, water, and shelter, as well as navigating dangerous terrain. Passive 100BP/3
[Marksmanship 1.0]: Enhances proficiency with ranged weapons, improving accuracy, range, and overall effectiveness in ranged combat. Passive 100BP/3
[Close Combat 1.0]: Improves hand-to-hand combat abilities, including strikes, grapples, and defensive manoeuvres. Passive 100BP/3
[Stealth 1.0]: Enables the ability move silently and remain undetected by enemies, enhancing the ability to infiltrate, ambush, or evade detection. Active 100BP/3
[Negotiation 1.0]: Enhances persuasive skills, making you more adept at bargaining, diplomacy, and resolving conflicts peacefully. Passive 100BP/3
[Second Wind 1.0]: Provides you with the ability to push through exhaustion or injury in combat, granting a temporary boost in resilience and stamina when needed most. Rest 15 minutes and heal minor wounds, replenish Battery to 80%. 1000 credits/3
[Aura Manipulation 1.2]: Allows you to manipulate your own or others' auras for various effects, such as enhancing physical abilities, influencing emotions, or detecting hidden energies. Can emulate telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and other abilities at higher levels. Variable 10BP/3
[Auric Sight 1.3]: Enhances your perception to see auras, energies, or magical phenomena invisible to the naked eye, providing insights into the nature of beings or environments. 10BP/3 per minute
[Dreamworld 1.2]: Grants you access to the Inner Sanctum. Passive
[Mind Over Matter 1.0]: Strengthens mental discipline and control over your own body and mind. Active ability 100BP/3 per minute
[Regeneration 1.0]: Accelerates the character's natural healing process, allowing them to recover from injuries at an accelerated rate, and even regenerate lost limbs or organs over time at higher levels. Passive 100BP/3 per minute
[Disassembly 2.1]: Provides you with the ability to deconstruct any creature with a mana stone into constituent parts. Active 20BP/3
I noticed that I could klick on each App or Utility, which provided me with an Upgrade screen. Selecting [Quick Draw], I choose the option to upgrade, which was a scaling credit cost — 100, 200, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, etc. Since [Quick Draw] was already level 2.1, my options were 300, 600, 1200…
Closing out the screen, I scrolled down to [Marksmanship] and dropped 600 into it, boosting it to Level 5. While improving [Quick Draw] and [Aimed Shot] were important, [Marksmanship] was a passive ability and improved everything. I felt that it was a good investment and would synergise with [Quick Draw] and [Aimed Shot].
I dropped another 600 credits into [Close Combat] boosting it to level 5, which also seemed a good investment. Passives would always be a good investment in my opinion.
With 430 credits left to my name, I bumped [Tracking], [Mind Over Matter], [Regeneration], and [Aura Manipulation] to level 2, leaving me with just 30 credits in the bank.
Finished with my upgrades, I turned my attention to the hidden files, curious if I could possibly tweak them or if it would be something completely beyond my understanding. I opened up [Sensory.dna] and had a peek.
And closed it immediately. There was no way I was going to be able to game this system any time soon.
Rising from the comfy computer chair, I stood in front of the mirror and regarded myself. “Hey laughing boy,” I said. “Any pointers for the astral realm thing?”
Mirror-me mimed bouncing a basket ball and taking a shot.
“Practice, eh?”
Two thumbs up was the reply.
Motioning for Mirror-Vinnie to move aside, I stepped through the mirror and appeared in my room. A silver cord ran from me to my sleeping body, and another one ran from it towards the stables below. Ignoring the cords, I began wandering the Green Pig, walking through the semi-substantial door to my room with only minor resistance. I glided down the stairs without a sound, turning at the landing to emerge into the greatroom of the inn where two shadowy figures sat across from each other at a table.
They gave the impression of being men, although they were insubstantial as smoke. I placed my hand on the butt of my Mongoose as they rose and stared at me with gaping eye sockets.
“Not looking for trouble,” I said, my voice everywhere and nowhere all at once, distorted as though I were speaking underwater.
A twitch of their shadowy hands was all the warning I got before they drew and fired, the sound of their ghostly pistols ringing hollow in this realm. My chest stung with the impact of the spiritual projectiles while my hand drew and fired nearly of its own accord, punching a fist-sized hole in the gut of the shadow-man on the right. The one on the left took off running as his companion dissolved into smoke.
Another projectile hit me in the leg and I triggered [Aimed Shot], taking advantage of the two second time dilation effect to plug the shadow-man in the back. He dissolved in a cloud of smoke, joining the thin streamers of the substance that were flowing towards me. Holstering my weapon, I watched as the smoke from the two crawled across the floor and began seeping into my boots. As more of the spiritual substance entered my body the wounds they had left behind closed up and vanished. When the last of it had been absorbed, a notification appeared.
\Ding**
[Two Restless Spirits defeated. +200 credits]
I ran a hand over the places where I had been shot. My chest and leg were healed, but sore in a strange kind of way, like I had been jabbed really hard with a stick. Looking around the now empty room, I wondered if all spirits were as weak as these or if I was somehow stronger because I had a connection to a physical body.
Shrugging off yet another unanswerable question, I headed out the front door, emboldened by my experience.
The night was filled with a silvery light that was both everywhere and nowhere, rendering my vision as sharp as if it were noon, despite the inky blackness overhead. What few shadows could be seen were deep black pits, impenetrable to my eyes. I resolved to steer clear of the obvious hazards.
I spotted a few more ghosts as I walked the street, each one moving away with haste as they noticed my approach. They were even more insubstantial than the two shadow-men I had …killed? back at the inn, and much more skittish, leaving me to roam the city unperturbed. Time passed strangely as I wandered, seconds and minutes swapping places with each step.
When I had made a full circuit of the city block and stood before the Green Pig once more, I decided to call it a night. This Astral Realm was interesting, but I felt like I was missing something important, like I was only seeing half the picture. Tugging on the silver cord at my waist I was jerked into the building and fell into my body, stumbling into my inner Sanctum.
Mirror-Me gave me finger guns when I arrived.
“Looks like I can earn credits by killing ghosts,” I said. “Any consequences for that?”
He stroked his goatee for a moment and put on a mime-show, which I sorta grasped.
“I’m stronger than most because I have a physical body, but they can get stronger by eating each other so I need to watch out for the ones that look really solid.”
He gave me a thumbs up.
Good enough. Mental note: Don’t mess with the solid ghosts.
The thought of checking up on my subconscious crossed my mind, but I decided to do it later. I sat on the sofa and watched my latest Happy movie, then set an alarm for ten minutes before sunrise, selected [Sleep] from the menu and drifted off into dreamland.

2024.06.04 15:38 Isaac_paech Wrestling with meaning or changes to your values

Is this something you can relate to as an INFJ?
Something comes up. Might be something you read online, experienced within a show/movie or a question someone in real life asked you. It challenges your currently-held beliefs. In the moment you realise to your absolute horror you don't know the answer or you might have the wrong answer, and so you spend hours pondering it, researching about it, asking others online about it (essentially collecting as much information about it as possible) to help you break down each and every building block of that initial understanding to then build it back up stronger and richer in insight and wisdom than before.
The whole time this is happening within your mind, you have an intense feeling of stress and value-crisis where you feel like you're very vulnerable mentally to manipulation or gaslighting if someone were to do so. At any other time your values and identity are so rock-solid that these things would be impossible or extremely difficult at the least to inflict upon you, but during this period of re-evaluating your values you are the exact opposite.
It consumes you. You cannot rest until you can be sure of your answer. No stone can be left unturned. All avenues must be considered and all ideas are worth pursuing. It plagues your mind day and night until you can completely satisfy your hunger for understanding.
But once you do, it's the best feeling in the world. Peace has been restored to your mind. All anxiety drifts away and a sense of excitement at the prospect of knowing the answer if someone were to challenge your beliefs becomes the epitome of relief within your mind. Finally, you know the answer. You've filled every crack, covered every base and have defenses at the ready for all possible attacks.

2024.06.04 15:32 BooksandPagesndWine THE UNIVERSE DID IT AGAIN!!!

Another one of my affirmations came through!!!!!
Guys I’m feeling so giddy right now I could SCREAM!! I’ve been kicking my legs and giggling for twenty minutes.
Affirmed I was his dream girl TWO WEEKS AGO. HE JUST TOLD ME I AM HIS DREAM GIRL🤭✨✨✨✨
NO, LIKE— we are getting married and having babies and a getting a fat ass pretty house with hefty bank accounts, LETS GOO🏃🏽‍♀️💨💸 this is SO HAPPENING.
AFFIRM. TRUST. BELIEVE. LET GO. AFFIRM. TRUST. BELIEVE. LET GO.
THATS ALL I DID!!!
YOU CAN ALL DO THIS! 💃🏼🪩🍾
Edit: Okay I forced myself to calm down to just coherently explain my process.
  1. This was not easy for me at first. I’ve been manifesting consciously for about a year exactly. It’s only recently, maybe 2-3 months(???) that I’ve had active success in the 3D.
  2. Where it all clicked for me is that it’s not about techniques, it’s about believing. The way I chose to do this was I “put my order in” and then just knew it was non-negotiable, like of course it’s happening. Doubts, worries, all of that didn’t matter. It’s happening, the universe doesn’t give a damn about my negative emotions— it gets me what I want alla pronto.
  3. Trusting it works eventually becomes belief it works. Now I trust manifesting works, it always comes in FAST like a slap in the face.
  4. My advice? Stop watching content from 1000 creators. Stop doing 1000 techniques. They don’t work if you believe they don’t. Be STRICT with your thoughts. You can’t affirm “he loves me” twice then spend the rest of the day wallowing in thoughts about how he hates you. You’re setting yourself up for failure. Calm. Down. When you’re too needy you’re in your yearning state. Yearning = don’t have. You don’t have to disassociate. You just have to relax and know what you want is coming, and let the universe get creative. Stop checking the 3D if you can’t handle it. Don’t look for trouble, because you will find it. Instead invite in the peace, let the manifestation come to you. It’s shy, it doesn’t like to be chased.
LETS GOOOOOOO

2024.06.04 15:13 Apprehensive_Bit1731 I ghosted my boyfriend because I thought he was cheating but know the truth now. I would do anything to get him back.

Me (24F) and my ex D (24M) were together for 1.5 years. We were in the same friend group in university and when we graduated, we both accepted job offers at the same company on different teams and moved in together. The third person in this sequence of events is T (25M) who was also in our university friend group and works in the same city. It was known in our group that he had a crush on me but I friendzoned pretty early on and he seemed respectful of me and D’s relationship. I thought my and D’s relationship was great and I felt so loved when I was with him but T surprisingly came to our place one day and said he had to tell me something when D went home to visit his parents for the weekend. He showed me photos of D hugging another girl and having a lunch date with her. I couldn’t see the other girl’s face in the photos and it was someone with red hair so I knew it wasn’t anyone we knew and it was clear to me that D was cheating. I didn’t even text or call D, I just packed all my things, wrote “I know” on a sticky note and put it on our dining table, took my car and left. I stayed at T’s place while I looked for a new place and he was my shoulder to cry on during this time. I let all of our friends know what happened and D was basically excommunicated from our friend group, despite him telling me and our friends that he never cheated. He asked me for what proof I had and I said I had pictures. I refused to send him the pictures I had from T and told him that he knew what he did and he would just lie and gaslight me if he saw the pictures. No one listened to him and he stopped trying to reach me or our friends after a few days after he came back from his parent’s place. Me and T started dating a month later.
Last week aka almost 10 months after I ghosted D, I ran into his cousin who studies at a nearby university. I always loved D’s relationship with her. She treated D like an older brother and she looked up to him so much, it was lovely to see that bond. I got to know her somewhat during my relationship with D but we never spoke after the breakup as she went away from a semester abroad and I was busy in my new relationship with T. We made plans to meet up for coffee and catch up. I assured her that no matter what happened between me and D, she was always welcome to reach out to me and I wanted to remain in touch if she was okay with that. She thanked me and told me that D never told her why we broke up and she wanted to know. I told her bluntly that D cheated on me. She was shocked but asked more questions like if I knew who the other girl was and so on. I told her I couldn’t see her face in the photos and all I knew is that it was someone with red hair. Her look changed immediately once she heard that and she looked upset. She reminded me that she had dyed her hair red around a year ago and there was a good chance that this other girl was actually her. I was shocked by this and more shocked that I didn’t remember she had red hair especially since we had met at least twice during her red hair period. I showed her the pictures and she also showed me pictures she had a waiter take of D and her when they went out for lunch a little under a year ago. The pictures were definitely taken on the same day and the girl I thought D was cheating with turned out to be his own cousin and he was completely innocent in all this.
Later that evening, I confronted T and asked if he knew that D’s cousin was the girl in the picture. T and D’s cousin have met before as D used to invite her to go out with our friend group whenever she was free. I asked T if this was all his elaborate plan to get me to finally go out with him by making me believe D was cheating, being there for me to make me think he would be a better partner. T admitted to everything including having pictures where D’s cousin’s face was also showing that he didn’t show me. I broke up with him on the spot and kicked him out of my apartment.
I felt so guilty for what I did to D. He lost his girlfriend, all his friends, and his relationship with his parents suffered over this. I knew at that moment that I was ready to do whatever it takes to get him back. I unblocked him on all my social media and I saw him. He had gained some muscle, grown out his hair and beard, he looked so handsome. He had reconnected with some of his high school friends that worked in the area. I saw that he was promoting his side business that he had always talked about starting. He had also been dating someone else, a barista at a local cafe, for just over six months and they went to Paris for their six month anniversary. I felt so jealous when I saw she had posted photos with him in front of the Eiffel Tower. Just from the photos, you can see how much they love each other.
I told all of our friends that D never cheated and I was wrong. I messaged him and said I was sorry for how I ended our relationship and didn’t even give him a chance to explain the situation and would do anything to be together again. Our friends all wanted to write a group apology to him for throwing him to the curb in the way we did. D never blocked us so we knew we could definitely get through to him. We all drafted the message together and everyone signed off on it in a group chat with D. Even four days later, he never opened, saw, or responded to our apologies. Yesterday, I went to the part of our company where D works during lunch break to look for him. He was sitting alone in the cafeteria and so I went and asked if we could speak. He said there was nothing to talk about and asked me to leave. I apologized to him and and asked for just two minutes of his time. I told him that I knew he didn’t cheat and I apologized for not believing him months ago. He told me that he was dating someone new and had no interest in looking into the past. I made the mistake of blowing up on him here. I raised my voice and told him that he’s dating a barista, someone who makes minimum wage and he’s denying someone who works as an engineer in one of the top companies in the world for a f—ing barista, I asked what she can give him that I can’t, I said I’ve known him for six years and she has known him for six months. D just responded by saying she’s peaceful and that’s already worth more to him than anything I could offer. He said that my outburst showed him exactly why he would never take me back. I yelled “FU D” and got looks from the other people in the cafeteria. D didn’t say anything after that and just got up and left.
If I had any chance of getting back with D before, it’s definitely gone now. I haven’t been able to sleep or rest and I just keep crying. I would do anything to feel D’s warm embrace right now but I ruined it. I told some friends what happened and now everyone is bashing me. What do I do? I need some positivity please.

2024.06.04 14:44 Curious-Attitude-365 I got ghosted by my boyfriend 31M, and I’m 27F, any thoughts and advice how I can move on and heal from this trauma?

I got ghosted by my boyfriend
My boyfriend(31) and I'm 27,
Hmmm. I don't really know where to start. I'm still shocked. We had our last conversation, last sunday. I thought things are okay between us. This day is supposedly our 4th month being in a relationship. I have so much respect and I care about him so much. He has gone through a lot, from childhood and his previous relationships.
We met last January 2024 on a dating app. We started talking. We hit it off right away. He opened up everything about him, his life and his past. We're really doing okay, or so I thought..
We rarely had fights, we only had 2 big arguments and we were able to solve it together, we forgave each other.
These past few weeks were really hard for him, he had to move out on his apartment and settle in a new one. I supported him and gave him time. Because I know and feel he needed it. I continuously gave my support and I would always be there for him. It was hard for the both of us since we're LDR. I trust him and I believe him.
But these past few days, he seemed a lil bit off, he would asked me to give him time and my messages would be delivered for hours, still I understand his situation since he's taking it all at once and he doesn't have anyone to rely on.
Yesterday, I tried messaging him, I knew when my messages didn't say that it was delivered that he blocked me. I tried emailing him, his email no longer exists.
Love, if you ever come across with this post, I'm not mad nor upset. I understand, I do, yes it hurts so much, but I don't want my love for you turn into anger or hate, we started off with love and I want to end our chapter with love.
I hope you're doing well, please don't eat just once a day, okay? Don't drink too much coffee. Rest in between your work, I know how much you work hard. I'm not trying to get answers from you.
I will always hope and pray for you. I hope you'll achieve more big things in life and I will always be proud of you. I hope you'll find the peace, love and all happiness in the world, even if it's not with me. I will always remember your pieces of advice, I will continue striving and working hard.
Three words and eight letters, I love you.
Any thoughts about this?

2024.06.04 14:40 pinguineis RIP

RIP
We had to put down our beloved little Merlin. Today he was scheduled for a CT scan of his teeth but the results were so bad, the vet advised us to end his suffering. He had multiple teeth abscesses and a hole in his jawbone. Continuing treatment would only mean more pain for him. So we had to make the difficult decision.
Rest in peace my little guy. You will never be forgotten.
