2024.05.20 09:14 modzer0 Ever take a dogman to the vet?

I should not be writing this. I know they will be looking for me as soon as this goes live. I had to get the word out despite all the secrecy surrounding the project. I don't know what they'll do to me when they find me, but this has to get out.
I was unemployed looking for work when I came across a job listing offering a strangely large amount of money. What did I have to loose? I called the number and they gave me a website to go to that took me through an application process and a security clearance form that I had to fill out the last seven years of my life. They said it would be months until the clearance would come through but to my surprise a month later I got a phone call telling me I had been granted Interm Secret clearance and the job would proceed.
I had to go to a building without any name on it downtown and they took my photo for an ID card and a packet of information about where I was to go to the next day.
The next morning I drove to the address with a mix of excitement and apprehension. What about this job required a security clearance? Why had I gotten my interm secret so quickly? I figured I'd soon find out when I pulled up to a gate with a card reader. I swiped my ID and the razor wire topped gate slid open so I could pass. Yeah nothing ominous about that. I drove a mile or so down the road and parked in the parking lot in front of a building that looked like the set of a prison movie. The windows were narrow slits and I could tell from a distance that the door was very heavy duty. Thinking back a few minutes ago wasn't the top of that razor wire fence angled in as if to keep something in rather than people out?
I got out and approached the heavy door. I spotted the card reader and used my ID on it and it flashed green and there was a loud clunking sound from the door as it unlocked. I had to put some muscle behind it to get it to open and then it shut behind me followed by another loud clunk as the locks reengaged.
I turned to see a thick armored window with a guard staring me down.
"First day huh?" he asked me as he looked at his screen.
"Yeah," I said a bit nervously.
"Sit tight, your department head will be coming to pick you up and take you to your in-brief," he said.
"What uh, what is this place?" I asked.
"All that will be answered by the briefing so have a seat and relax. You're likely in the safest spot in the facility," he said.
I looked at the inner door and noticed it was just as thick and heavy as the outer one. I was essentially sitting in an armored booth so he was technically right about it being safe.
When my boss arrived he was wearing scrubs and had his ID card clipped to the bottom of the V of the top.
"So, you're my new tech?" he asked.
"Yes, Sir," I replied.
"Good, hopefully you follow instructions better than the last one," he said. "I'm Dr. Tanner. You can call me 'Sir' or 'Doctor'."
"Sir, can you tell me what I'll be doing here?" I asked.
"All in due time. First you need to complete the safety briefing. It is not a joke. Take a look at the windows and doors if you need convincing. The government doesn't spend this kind of money unless it's very necessary, and it is. You'll understand the need for it when I introduce you to our charges. I'm not going to tell you yet because I enjoy the look on people's faces when they get their first peak of what we're doing here," he said. "Now, for the safety briefing. Follow me."
He began to open the inner door when he stopped and looked back at me. "Do you have any electronic devices on you?"
"No Sir, the security documents instructed me to leave my phone and anything with a digital memory in the car," I said.
"Excellent, you're already demonstrating that you can follow directions," he said. Was that a hint of a smile I saw?
He lead me down the hallway to a room on the left and used his card to unlock and open the door. After I walked inside what appeared to be a conference room he followed me inside and let the door shut.
I immediately noticed the back of the door wasn't the usual thing one would expect to see. It had a big lever in the middle that looked like it operated bolts to secure the door shut. I started to wonder what the hell I had gotten myself into. I expected to be working with maybe the facility's guard dogs. This kind of security was on a level I hadn't experienced before.
"Good, you're observant, another plus," the doctor said.
He walked over to the table and picked up a recorder and pressed play. A trilling alarm sound came for it and he let it play for a few seconds before cutting it off.
"If you hear that sound along with flashing red lights you are to go to the nearest safe room, such as this one and use this lever to bolt the door," He walked over and pressed a button by the windows and the thick glass became opaque.
"And you are to opaque the windows with the control in the room so nothing can see in," he said and then pointed to a door on the other wall that had 'Emergency Supplies' written on it. "There you will find food, water, and other necessities if you happen to be locked down for an extended period of time. There is also a radio already set to the control room frequency. If the phone is not working pull the tab on the back of the radio so the battery makes contact and reports in with the information posted on the back of the door. That's basically who you are, where you are, and if there are any threats you know of near you. Otherwise sit tight unless told otherwise."
"Threats?" I asked.
"Our charges are out of containment or an external threat," the doctor replied.
"What's so dangerous that we need bunker rooms like this?" I asked.
"All in due time," he replied. "Have you ever used a tranquilizer gun?"
"No," I responded.
"No matter, you'd need to qualify on the two types we use anyway with the security team," he said.
"Why do we need tranquilizer guns?" I asked.
"The animals we work with are dangerous. They're sedated before they get to us and one of our tasks is to make sure they stay sedated until they're returned to the enclosure. If one wakes up and slips a restraint you are not going to want to go near it to give an injection. That's why we have tranq guns," The doctor said.
"That makes perfect sense to me," I said. My curiosity was burning wondering what we were working with. Had to be something like large predators to require this much security. A grizzly would be a plausible reason why the doors had the extra bars. The force they could produce could snap the usual latches.
"Good because it's time for my favorite part. Showing the new guy what we work with," the doctor said and led the way deeper into the facility and up a set of stars to a room labeled 'observation deck'.
"The windows are to remain frosted by the electronic controls there whenever the room is not in use. They cannot see in but they seem to know someone is watching them and it upsets them. It's best for everyone if they are not upset," He reached over and pressed the button and the electronic frosting cleared.
That's the moment where my brain completely derailed and I questioned my own sanity.
"W-Werewolves?" I asked.
"No, at least not at this facility. These are a lesser known cryptid called Dogmen, kind of like Bigfoot."
"Wait, is Bigfoot real?" I asked.
"Yes, but not nearly as widespread as 'sightings' would make you think," he said.
"If these exist, what else is real?" I asked him.
"That's beyond your need to know," he said sternly, but then his face softened. "I'll lend you a book later that contains everything we've confirmed and studied. After all, if you continue with this job you will have the opportunity to work with them in the future, and it's best you know what you're getting into," he said. "One benefit they probably haven't gotten around to telling you yet is that they will pay for your education. You can become a full veterinarian working with the most interesting creatures that exist," he said. "Not a bad gig, huh?"
"Except for the part where I'm working with large dangerous creatures," I said.
"Large, intelligent, dangerous creatures," he replied. "And that is why we have procedures and rules. Things like always having more sedative staged to inject if a patient starts to wake up, having them restrained at all times, and if they do wake up you have the tranq guns to put them back under without risking yourself," he said and tapped the control to frost over the glass again.
Our next stop was back in the conference room where there were now a couple of binders.
"Now for the boring part. Study these because you'll have to pass a test on them later. It's those procedures I mentioned. It covers everything from handling the animals, dosages we use, and why we can't leave after dark."
"Wait, we can't leave after dark?" I asked, a bit alarmed.
"There are dogmen in the woods surrounding this facility. The fence does a decent job of keeping them out but they do get in and they're not happy we have some of their kind captive. They're fairly shy during the day and become active at night so it's for your own safety that once the sun sets you stay here. We have secure rooms just for the occasion, and scrubs are not short in supply if you need a change of clothing. We have a mess hall staffed 24/7 by some excellent cooks. People who can do this job are rare so they take care of us. Now get to reading, you'll have to pass a test before you're allowed to work. I'll come pick you up for lunch."
I did as he said and spent the next few hours reading with a break for the promised lunch that was beef stroganoff and actually really good. I went for seconds. Then it was back to memorizing policy and procedures till I was finally done and managed a passing score on the test. That was followed by some time at an indoor range getting qualified on the tranq guns.
The doctor reviewed my test and nodded. "Excellent, you're a fast learner. We've rescheduled some things for tomorrow so we'll have the extra help. You head home and get a good night's rest. I'll see you in the morning in the veterinary section, just follow the signs it's easy to find," the doctor said.
I did as he said and drove home. I couldn't help but be a good deal more vigilant as I looked at the woods on the way out. Dogmen were out there and no one in the area except us knew. There were the cryptid hunters but they didn't know for sure like I did from seeing a pack close up.
Needless to say I didn't get a whole lot of sleep that night. My mind was racing with the possibilities of what was real from all of the stories.
In the morning I made breakfast and sat for a bit having to give myself a reality check that yesterday wasn't just a dream, so I finally picked up my keys and headed out. I drove down the lonely road and passed through the gate without incident. I parked my car and made my way through the security checkpoints and began following the signs to the Veterinarian department. As the doctor had said, it wasn't difficult to find.
There were three entrances all like airlocks that were long enough for a gurney. It didn't take long to figure out the purpose. If you had dangerous animals inside you wanted at least one door containment so they couldn't get past you and into the larger facility.
I went inside through the airlock like doors one at a time and found myself in a very familiar veterinary clinic though one that was very well stocked.
It was then that I met my other coworker, I'll call him Mike, who was sitting on a stool reading a magazine.
"Hey, you must be the new guy. I'm Mike," he said and I introduced myself.
"So, your first big day. You excited, or terrified?" Mike asked.
"A bit of both," I said honestly.
"Relax, by the time they get to us they've been pumped with enough drugs to drop an elephant. We take samples and the guards take them back out. Then we run the usual tests like any other animal. It's easy money," Mike said. "We're never in any danger."
"What about all of the procedures?" I asked.
"There's what's written down on paper and then there's what is practical and works. If we followed the checklist for every dogman that's brought in here it would just take us twice as long, and twice as long that it can wake up," Mike said. "So relax, I'll show you what you really have to do to streamline things."
What was I to say? He'd obviously been doing this for a long time and if his system worked who was I to question it?
Our first patient of the day made me the most nervous. The security team wheeled in a restrained female on a gurney right into the middle of our space then they backed out. Being the new guy I did the basics by checking heart rate, breathing, and looking into the eyes to make sure she was out cold. Everything was normal based on the numbers I had memorized.
Mike watched me, corrected my stethoscope placement a little and started drawing blood as soon as I was done. The moment he was done he buzzed the guards to take her back out while he labeled the samples.
"Less time they're in here the better so label your samples and fill out the papers once they're taken out," Mike said. "No need to have a dangerous animal laying around while we fill out forms."
"What about the extra sedative we're supposed to have ready?" I asked.
"The tranq guns are right there. Much safer to back off out of reach and just shoot them with another dose," Mike said. I couldn't fault his logic.
We had four more patients that day all went as smoothly as the first and I was beginning to relax. It was our last patient of the day when things went wrong.
It started normally with the guards rolling the male into our space and I took vitals and checked the eyes.
"Hey, I have some dilation here. I don't think he's under enough. Where's the sedative?" I asked.
"Don't worry about it. I'll be done before he realizes what happened," Mike said and undid one of the restraints a little so he could get to the vein. It was at that point things went horribly wrong. As soon as Mike inserted the needle the male woke up and jabbed it's hand upward catching Mike in the throat and spraying blood everywhere. I moved forward out of instinct to try and tighten the restraint when I felt a searing pain across my face and my right eye went red.
I stumbled back. Oh God had I lost my eye? I shook myself out of it long enough to badge through a door and throw the bolts before pressing the intercom button. "Creature out of containment in veterinary. I think Mike is dead. I'm hurt and need a medic!" I said before blacking out.
I don't know how long it was but when I woke up I was in a hospital room and the Veterinarian was sitting beside my bed.
"You're safe, you're in a hospital and just out of cosmetic surgery. You'll have some scars but it'll look like the result of a big cat. Your eye is fine."
"Mike?" I asked.
"Dead before any help would get to him. We have video of the whole thing including you questioning him multiple times on matters of procedure. Don't let someone senior intimidate you into not being safe. You have a month's paid leave to recuperate." he said.
So here I am. I need some advice. Should I go back to work after my leave is done or turn in my resignation? It won't take them much to figure out who I am if they find this post. I also don't know what they'll do to me if they do.

2024.05.20 09:12 SaidanNoHitsugi i don't know how to get over it already

I got my PTSD because i had a road accident, more than a year ago on our college bus, im not going to explain how it happened in deep deatil (maybe another day) but the thing is: i basically have to keep traveling on bus really really often because is the only way i can go to my college classes, i have to travel on bus two times (to go colllege and come back to home) from monday to thursday, in the other semesters i had to take it from monday to friday, and yet, even with the therapy and even if im constantly traveling really often, i still feel pannick when traveling, and every day i come home really stressed or tired after the travel... i basically have to re-create the same scenario where my trauma happened almost every day as part of my daily routine .
This still remains and i even feel anxious when i see another road accidents (on the news, on our way to go to college or when other people speaks about road accidents with me) why am i still afraid and anxious if im constantly traveling on bus and facing it? i feel like i should be desensitized about this already for the ammount of time i have been doing it, the people that shared the bus with me when this event happened look like they already got over it long ago and they travel normally, im the only one on the bus who gets scared or feels bad when traveling... i don't know how to get over it already.

2024.05.20 09:10 RedSiren2 Parent's Day is full of woe (fanscript/fanepisode) (spoilers) (part 4)

TW: Implication of alcoholism by the end
Scene: Outside the school walls. Xavier walks over the meadow to some of the seats where some of the friends, Wednesday included are sitting. Suddenly, Morticia appears by his side.
Morticia: My dear.
Xavier: (looking at her surprised) Oh…
Gomez: (steps up next to him as well, smiling) We didn’t get a chance to talk last time.
Morticia: It’s Xavier, right? Or Exavier?
Xavier: (blows out air) Whichever you prefer.
They chuckle a little.
Xavier: (smiles) Both is quite alright.
They smile and walk on with him. Morticia takes his arm meanwhile.
Gomez: You’ve been keeping our little stormcloud company very well, we’ve heard?
Xavier: Yes… (smirks) … I do. Still do, very much so.
Morticia: (looks at him for a moment, smiling, but a tad of somberness sneaks in) A lot of people do not bother to keep going with us like this.
Xavier: (smiles, shrugs) I guess that’s just what I do.
Gomez: (looks at him for a long moment as well, then smiles and pats his shoulder) Must be your blood. Your father always took pride in his family’s insistence to never back down from a fight.
Xavier: (sighs a little) He still does that as well.
Morticia: I remember his prowess in fencing. Not many could hold their ground against him – I heard you also fence?
Xavier: (nods) But my main thing is art, to be honest. I rather do sports on the side.
Gomez: I’ve seen some of your work. (puts a hand on his back) Very kahlo, lovely.
Xavier: (chuckles)
Morticia: It’s much like her work, save for the blood and skeletons.
Xavier: (chuckles a little) That’s reserved for my nightmare collection.
Morticia and Gomez: (very interigued) Oh?
They keep talking and chuckling as they walk slower. Wednesday watches them closely, with an expression hard to read. Eugene comes stomping over, without his moms, and flops down on the bench between her and Bianca.
Wednesday: (not turning to him) Have your moms left already?
Eugene: (coldly) Maybe. I’m not talking to them any more today, so there’s that.
Bianca: (looks at him)
Eugene: (looking at his phone, coldly) It’s nice to get a say in something, right?
Bianca: Right.
Eugene: (cools down a little) How was it with you guys?
Bianca: (sighs) Don’t ask. I hope my mom doesn’t try to make any more conversation today as well.
Eugene looks at her, then presses her hand.
Wednesday: We had a talk with the principal. He decided to skip my late-night maraudering because he knew they’d love it, and left it at that I’m starting to have a bad influence on all of you.
Bianca and Eugene chuckle
Wednesday: Well, isn’t it true?
Bianca: It’s awfully nice of him.
They exchange a smirk. Even Eugene smiles a little again. Ajax comes running over.
Ajax: Have you guys seen Enid?
Bianca: She went back to the castle a while ago, but I haven’t seen her since.
Ajax: (sighs, sits down and fetches his phone)
Xavier, Morticia and Gomez reach their group, still chatting cheerfully.
Xavier: (to Wednesday) Hey.
Wednesday: I see you’ve met my parents.
Xavier: Well met, I’d say.
Gomez: Oh, I’d say so too, dear boy.
Morticia: He really has the charm of his family.
Wednesday: (furrows her brows) Really?
Xavier rolls his eyes, but before he can say anything, Mrs. Sinclair arrives.
Esther: (to the group) Have you kids seen Enid? She ran out on us.
Wednesday: Already? Well done.
They exchange a glare.
Esther: Well (she looks around) I can’t expect your help, now can I?
Ajax looks down, so do Eugene and Xavier, but Bianca returns her glare.
Esther: You could at least check her Instagram. I'm sure she's posting about this day already. (sighs) (to Morticia and Gomez) Kids these days.
The group tenses up.
Morticia: (staying friendly) Now Essi, perhaps she just needs time to cool off.
Esther sighs, waves away and walks off, past the other bodyguard Barnes from the Thorpe entourage who is coming over with an elderly man in a suit using a walking stick.
Xavier: (notices them) (happily) Davis!
Barnes: (rolls his eyes) Just Davis indeed.
Xavier: (chuckles and hugs him) Sorry Barnes.
Barnes: (chuckles and pats his back) How are you, skinny. Ah, there’s that backbone that I like.
Xavier: (chuckles, then turns to Davis, who hugs him with one arm while holding onto his stick)
Davis: Dear boy.
Xavier helps him to sit down on at the table.
Xavier: How’s your rib?
Davis: Much better. I was well enough to drive, but finding a parking spot was a pain on it’s own.
Xavier: (chuckles, but then gets serious) All registers to get me back on track, right?
Davis: (sighs) So it would seem. I’d tell you what to do, but … you already know.
Xavier: (nods, then presses Davis’ hand, who smiles)
Morticia: Davis. Do you remember us?
Davis: (looks at the Addams spouses) I’m quite sure I can’t recall every single time I went to bed in a once more squeaky clean house cursing both your family names.
Gomez: Pity. I remember the spider outbreak of 1990 very fondly.
Morticia: Oh, it was.
Davis: (shakes his head) And it seems this family doesn’t have quite enough of that yet.
Xavier: (rolls his eyes, wants to say something, but freezes, looking over Davis’ shoulder)
Vincent enters the meadow with Ced by his side, walking towards them. Around him, people turn and stare, some looking away quickly. Everyone seems a tad intimidated. Wednesday looks on, then turns to her parents – and freezes herself. Their expressions have dropped. Both of them look at Vincent with a mix of gloom and fear. He smiles at them, stopping before their group. Barnes goes to stand next to him again.
Vincent: The spouses Addams. How long has it been.
Gomez: (monotonely, but staying composed) Ten years, Vini.
Vincent: Well, we haven’t changed a bit, right?
Morticia: (smiling, but coldly) Certainly not.
Gomez: We thought you never attend parent day.
Vincent: (shrugs) Urgent family business called for it. Some PR adjustments, if you will.
Xavier frowns, looking down. Vincent smiles at the two of them still, but before he can say anything more, Ced catches something behind the back of his neck. Vincent ducks, and Barnes flinches. Ced is holding a pearl. Vincent shakes his head a little, amused, while Morticia cringes. Gabrielle peeks out next to Barnes, smirking at him.
Vincent: I thought I told you not to startle my bodyguards.
Gabrielle: I’m quite sure I can’t recall.
He smiles, and she leans over to exchange a brief kiss on the cheek.
Vincent: My dear old school friend I will one day shed tears over publicly.
Gabrielle: I know you will. So … also here on family business? (she looks at her daughter) Some teenagers to reel in?
Vincent: One, and that’s one too much.
Gabrielle: (chuckles) Have kids, they said.
Xavier and Bianca look down, frowning.
Vincent: Meanwhile, I was going to have a talk with his friends. (checks his watch) Scheduled for now.
Bianca: (glaring at him) We told him to stay at school.
Vincent: (smiles a little at her, but his expression changes when speaking to her) Oh?
Bianca: Of course. (in the background, the Addams spouses observe this exchange with interest)
Eugene: We don’t condone this Xavier. Erm… behaviour.
Vincent: (chuckles) Neither do I kid, you have no idea.
Xavier: (shaking with rage) Are you done?
Vincent: Not exactly. I do want to speak to your friends. (he looks at Bianca, who returns his look. Then turns away) Mr. Ottinger.
Eugene: (looks up again, startled) Me?
Vincent: Have a walk with me. I’d like for you to tell me something about yourself. Ced, you come with us.
Ced: Yes, sir.
Eugene: (a little nervous, gets up slowly and follows him as he walks away)
Wednesday turns and watches them walk away.
Xavier: (sighs) Of course.
Wednesday: What? What does this mean?
Xavier: He’ll offer him an apprenticeship. My father is interested in people with special powers.
Wednesday looks on, then at her parents – they give her a warning look. She turns back, observing once more. Morticia however, manages to smile again.
Morticia: (to Bianca) My dear.
Bianca: Me?
Morticia: I heard you head the fencing club currently. Would you like to visit the old gym with me? It’s been so long.
Bianca: (stares at her for a long moment) Sure.
They leave together. Wednesday looks on after them.
Cut to Lucas working at Weathervane. Sheriff Galpin walks in – slower than he used to. He stops at the counter and orders a black coffee. Lucas prepares it, looking at him concerned. Galpin thanks him quietly, then sits at the corner table. Lucas serves the next customer, then, after a moment of thinking, gets himself a coffee and sits down with him. They exchange a somber look. Galpin reaches into his pocket – then looks back up at Lucas, deciding not to add anything to his coffee. They sit in silence for a moment.
Galpin: It’s all my fault. Everything.
Lucas: (looks at him)
Galpin: What do you say to that?
Lucas: I don’t know.
They’re silent for another moment.
Lucas: Maybe … it’s not fair that you blame yourself more than the people who actually did something.
Galpin: (looks at him)
Lucas: She doesn’t feel bad about it.
Galpin: There’s still more I could have done, kid.
Lucas: So could I.
Galpin: Huh?
Lucas: I did things in my life I’m not proud of. Nobody forced me to, but I did. Can’t undo those, so – I’m looking ahead.
Galpin: (smiles) You have a lot to become happy about still. Not me.
Lucas: Not so sure.
Galpin: (looks at him) I am.
Lucas: (looks at him)
Galpin: If it helps, I … I want that for you. Really do.
Lucas: (smiles)
Galpin: (sighs, looks out the window) I don’t know where to start, kid. Even … even saying it’s my fault was hard.
Lucas: (shrugs) It’s a start. Talking helped me with that.
Galpin: (looks out the window still, seeing cars pass by heading for Nevermore – then looks at Lucas) What’s your favourite coffee?
Lucas: What? Erm … I guess the … the moccachino with walnut syrup? It’s nice.
Galpin: (searches his pocket and fetches a 10 dollar bill) Here. (he hands it to him) Keep the change. Get yourself one of those, and …
Lucas: (looks at him, surprised)
Galpin: … and then tell me stuff. Whatever you like.
They exchange another somber, but gentle look – then Lucas smiles.
Lucas: Alright.
He goes to prepare his coffee.
Galpin: Thank you, Lukes.
Lucas: (stills for a moment, then smiles again) You’re welcome.

2024.05.20 09:08 SnakeScholar AITA for Staying Neutral in a fight between my girlfriend and my friend?

Throwaway, I (20F) have known my girlfriend Cerise (20F) since high school and started dating her 3 years ago. I met her through mutual friends that I have stayed friends with until now, they all knew each other way before I transferred to that high school and seemingly had a great friendship with each other. My girlfriend has always been the shy and quiet type of person, doesn't really talk unless spoken too and keeps herself reserved. Her friends brought out the best in her in my opinion and when she got comfortable with me she was a little less shy but still reserved and quiet.
Among these friends we had was Carly(19F) and Sugar(20F). My girlfriend and Carly had a big fallout during the pandemic but both agreed that it wasn't fair for me to be dragged into their fight, So upon my girlfriend's wishes I stayed friends with Carly. Recently I had to deal with a lot of family problems and stress from college so I decided to take a break from my social media to focus on my exams and whatnot. Upon the first week after I had told everyone this though Sugar had confronted my girlfriend about supposedly their friendship falling apart.
My girlfriend would text me during the span of their talks saying how stressed she was about the situation and that they couldn't find any common ground between the two of them. The talks going on between them lasted for about a month until my girlfriend decided that she couldn't salvage the friendship anymore. Through the course of this argument they've been having my girlfriend would come to me asking if she was in the wrong and I would explain to her that I wasn't really in a position to tell her what was right or wrong with the situation, I didn't understand the extent of what they were even fighting about and could only offer her reassuring words that she could work this out in the end. I didn't want my opinions to sway her in any way and she said she respected that. Once she made her decision to end the friendship with her friend she said she felt relieved, stuck in the same position again She told me she doesn't mind if I still stay friends with Sugar as long as I don't mention anything related to her when I was with her.
A few days later Sugar would reach out to me and pretend like nothing went on between them. I thought this was just a sensitive topic for her as well so I didn't mention anything and talked to her like usual. But along the way of the conversation she brought up the subject of the fight and how awkward it might be between all of us now (referring to the friend group) I said it was fine and that my girlfriend said it was alright for me to still be friends with everyone. And then she asked me if I wanted to hear her side of the story. I told her that I wasn't really comfortable with that because the conflict was already over and there would be no point in telling me her side since I wasn't really involved in the problem between them and that I didn't want to get into this conversation again, Since as I said this conflict lasted them a month and I've only been there to comfort my girlfriend through it all.
Despite me giving this response Sugar went ahead and sent me paragraphs upon paragraphs of the same things my girlfriend had explained to me about their conversations. One part that made me the most uncomfortable was Sugar bringing up the trauma my girlfriend had with her old friend and using it to compare their situations. It didn't sit right with me how she did that, nevertheless she kept sending me these paragraphs of her side of the story. I didn't interrupt her, I just closed my phone and went on with my day, all throughout she would send me message after message.
After a few hours of the notifications stopping I figured she was done with everything she had to say. Upon opening the messages I read through all of them carefully, I noticed a bunch of things she mentioned in passing that my girlfriend told me in detail. Things like she only brought up her trauma briefly when in reality my girlfriend told me about the paragraphs she received of Sugar comparing their current situations with her pass trauma. At the end of the messages she told me she wanted to hear my thoughts about the situation. I'm not a very emotionally intelligent person, I'm almost an airhead when it comes to things like this. So rather than tell my thoughts I told her to just accept the fact that no matter how many times she tells other people about this she'll have to move on eventually.
I've always been someone to take things at face value, If someone wants to stop being my friend then there's nothing much I can do in my opinion. I'm guessing Sugar didn't see the world the same way as after I had said that she started to rip into me, Telling me that It's my fault my girlfriend's friendships keep failing is because I wasn't steering her in the right path, and That because I didn't sway her with my opinion that she ended up choosing the wrong choice. That it was my responsibility and I could have done something to change the outcome of this situations.
I was honestly just baffled at this conclusion that I told her I needed some time to be alone and reflect on all of this. When I would ask my friends for their perspective on this situation and if it really was my responsibility to guide my girlfriend through this argument they said it wasn't my responsibility to tell my girlfriend how to handle her relationships. But I was still very conflicted with myself. I didn't tell my girlfriend about any of this happening, She was also stressing out about applying to colleges at this point and I didn't want to open this fresh wound back up for her to worry about.
I still hang out with my friends and they don't hold any ill intent towards me. Carly invited me onto a discord server so we can all catch up despite our busy schedules and whatnot. It's been about 2 weeks since I've joined that discord server and everything has been fine, but lately Sugar has been going into the chatrooms and venting vaguely about how it wasn't her fault and that she wasn't guilty or feels any regret. Saying that my girlfriend was the one that inflicted that trauma on herself and so on. She doesn't blatantly name drop my girlfriend, but it's very clear exactly who she's talking about.
The other people in the server don't seem to react to this at all. No one has called her out on this and everyone just ignores that it's happening. And as far as I can tell this only started when I joined the server, There are days where I will wake up and she has a new paragraph of just the same things she said the day before , Calling my girlfriend a coward and that it was always about her and how she was faking everything. Upon the advise of my other friends they have told me not to engage with her at all but I still don't know if that's the right decision. My girlfriend is unaware of any of this happening because I refuse to put even more stress on her with a situation where she has clearly moved on from it.
Am I the Asshole?? I don't know what course of action to take and I could use some advice.

2024.05.20 09:04 digiikf Strategies to Optimize for Google’s AI Search Generative Experience

Remember the good old days when you would type a keyword or query into a search bar and receive a page of blue links? Those days are swiftly fading in the digital world we inhabit. It’s time to welcome the age of AI Search Generative Experience (SGE), an innovative search method based on machine learning introduced by Google.
Google’s AI Search Generative Experience indeed is beneficial as it provides a new and improved user experience. Through machine learning and AI technologies, SGE foretells a new age of search that is more intuitive, personalised, and meaningful. When businesses and marketers incorporate SGE into their strategy, the growth potential of the digital landscape becomes crystal clear.

What is Search Generative Experience (SGE)?

Think of a search engine that knows what you want, understands your intent and gives you links, tailored info, summaries, and even next steps. SGE uses AI’s power to look at how users act, their search habits, and loads of data to offer a search that’s more personal and can change as needed.
SGE is a big step up in search tech, using advanced machine learning to get what users mean, the setting, and what they like. By going through lots of data, SGE can show search results that match what users seek. This move to a search that knows more about you calls for a smart plan from companies and marketers.
Example of SGE working: Imagine someone searching for the “best digital company in Pune.” Google search’s generative experience system does more than just look at the words you used; it takes into account where you are, your past searches, and what you’ve looked at before. The search results might show choices just for you, places nearby, and what others think, giving you a full and right search that fits what you need.

But what does this mean for businesses? Here's how you can adapt:

User Intent Analysis: Understanding the search intent is the key to SGE. Marketers have to dig deep into user behaviour, preferences and patterns while searching to predict and in turn, satisfy the users. Carrying out a detailed user intent analysis is a prerequisite for content creation, optimisation, and targeting.
Content Optimization for SGE: Content is an important factor in SGE-led search results. It is imperative to optimise content for relevance, quality and engagement. Create content that is insightful, useful, and relevant to the search queries and the user intent. Incorporate semantic keywords, structured data, and natural language to increase content visibility and relevance.
Future of Search with SGE: The future of search thrives on the adoption of AI-powered features like SGE. As Google AI develops and grows, businesses that are well-prepared for SGE will be ahead of the others in terms of search results and engagement with the users.
Benefits of SGE for Searchers: On the user’s end, SGE provides more customised and targeted search results. Through the development of knowledge about the user context and the intention, search results become more pertinent and useful, therefore saving the user time and improving the level of search satisfaction.
Feeling overwhelmed? Don’t worry! IKF, the best digital marketing company in Pune, can help you guide the ever-evolving landscape of search. Our team of experts can assist with content strategy development, SEO optimisation, and crafting content that thrives in the age of AI-powered search.
Don’t get left behind! Contact IKF today and let’s prepare your digital presence for the future of search with Google’s SGE.

2024.05.20 09:04 puddlecattabby How can I make and/or find money to pay for my university dorm/meal plan as a disabled student? Are student loans my only option?

For any of this to make sense, I need to give some background info first. I apologize for the wordiness - I'm a creative writing major and I can't really help it. (Also, I apologize for anything I do wrong in this post, including formatting, I literally have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to Reddit.)
I'm a student, I'm almost 21 (turning in June) and I have multiple diagnosed disabilities and several that my doctor and I are still trying to figure out. I just completed my first year of college (...barely) about a week ago. I was (and still am) living at home with my parents, as my hometown is only a 20-30 min drive from the larger town where I go to school. However, while it technically worked, it didn't really work well. Given that some of my disabilities make it impossible and dangerous for me to drive, I relied on my mom to drive me, which mostly worked out since her job isn't far from campus, but she started working at 7 am, meaning I had to wake up by or before 6 and my classes usually didn't start until 9 or later.
Due to this, I lost out on a lot of sleep throughout the year (even when going to bed "early" (which often still wasn't until after midnight due to other disabilities and insomnia keeping me up even with sleep aids/medication) and lost out on a lot of social opportunities as well since I was going home around 4 in the afternoon, when a lot of club meetings and other things are scheduled. Because I was losing so much sleep, I found it hard to stay focused in class (though I didn't miss any, surprisingly) and found it even harder to complete schoolwork on time, if at all, on top of some of my disabilities getting worse and my medications not working. I ended up having to drop three of my four classes last semester (spring semester, not autumn) because it was better than having inevitable fails marked on my transcript.
I planned to move onto campus for the following four or five years (I'm taking fewer credits than most students, 12 vs. the standard 15, but still full-time) since I knew that my maternal grandparents had a college fund set up for me, but since I struggled so much this year due to my disabilities, I'm now deemed "untrustworthy" and they're not allowing me to use it (which is honestly hilarious, given how hypocritical their reasoning is, since my grandmother has been disabled since she was 13, but I digress).
I'm luckily able to get my tuition, some fees and my books/supplies covered through my local Vocational Rehabilitation center, but they can't cover the costs of dorm rooms or the meal plan that my university requires for students in the dorms. I get some financial aid through FAFSA, but not enough to cover those costs.
I'm currently unable to work most entry-level positions (no experience and/or too people-y) or any manual labor jobs (physical disabilities), and will definitely be unable once school starts because I won't have time. Unfortunately, my Social Security benefits application is still in the works. My family members (that aren't hypocritical *insert insulting terms here*) are all broke and can't afford to help me. I haven't yet heard if any of the scholarships I've applied for have awarded me anything.
I need approximately $14,000 by the end of this summer (or rather, $7k by the end of summer, another $7k by mid-January 2025) to cover this. I really don't want to take out student loans, since I may not be able to complete college if my disabilities continue to worsen (crossing my fingers that they don't, though!) and would therefore be unable to pay them off with the job my degree would hopefully open up for me (and my family wouldn't be able to pay them off either, since they're all broke, too).
I'm just at my wit's end... I don't know what to do. If I was able to work (or my grandparents didn't suck...) this wouldn't be that big of a deal, but it seems that I've been dealt the worst possible hand.
I guess what I'm asking is this: are loans are my only option, or am I just completely screwed?
Thanks in advance for any advice y'all have to give :')

2024.05.20 09:04 QuackersParty Is it worth it to try counseling?

Sorry in advance, this got kinda way longer than I thought it would
Me(32 F) and my BF(32M) have been together since college, I think it’s a total of 12 or 13 years (we were very casual at first, then I left the country for a masters program for 2 years, then we lived together for a year and then he moved away for school for a year until I got a job closer to him. We’ve lived together for almost 6ish years, since the fall of 2018). Our lives are very tied together and both of our families consider us part of the family. Sometimes we talk about marriage in a really passive way, but I’m not really to in to the idea and he acts like he doesn’t care either way.
The main issue is we’re pretty much just roommates, only I do all the housework. I hurt myself at work a few months ago and I’ve been at home since they won’t accommodate my restrictions. It’s really thrown into sharp relief just how… unhelpful he is. I’m lucky that my injury doesn’t effect my mobility that much, but I do the cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, outside maintenance, arranging for repairs, pest control, and everything to take care of our dog. His one chore that he does on an inconsistent basis is starting the dish washer (which is really helpful, I’m very bad at remembering to do that).
I’ve gone through phases of asking him to help more and he said “tell me what to do and I’ll do it!”. I told him I’m not his mom and he knows what needs to be done in the house and he had the audacity to say “My mom would always say _I’m not your maid_”. We had this struggle an handful of times after we started living together in 2018 and I was 100% fed up. I straight up told him that I was just going to keep things in an acceptable state whether he contributed or not, and he’ll just have to deal with it when I inevitably get fed up and leave his ass.
I was finally at a point where I was making enough to get an apartment by myself and I was toying with the idea of moving out when covid hit. I work in a first responder-y job and things were absolute nightmare chaos. BF started working from home and I was on mandatory overtime a bunch. All the sudden I had 0 alone time and I adopted a dog (idk why I did it then, I’ve always wanted my own dog after growing up with them, but I probably would have lost it without her). It feels like I just put my head down and powered through things.
To make things even more complicated, my bf’s family were really on him to buy a house while the interest rates were good. I still wanted to make it work with BF and I was still kind of just chugging along. There was now the dog variable to look out for and I’d be gone too much with work since our shifts are very long. He bought a house and put me on it as a tenant in common for 20%.
So now we own a house together. Our finances are separate but I pay for groceries, insurance, and house maintenance and he pays the mortgage. I like our life but we don’t talk. Since I got hurt we don’t really have sex and I can tell he’s resentful even though he’s trying to be understanding. He gets defensive when I try to talk about his treatment of our dog (this is his first time with any pet) and his behavior toward me. He doesn’t get that sometimes when I don’t understand what’s he’s talking about he needs to explain it in a different way instead of repeating himself like that’ll get his point across.
It looks like I many not be able to go back to my old job (idk if I want to anyway, now that I’ve been away from it I can see how bad it was for me) and I’ve been looking at remote /hybrid things. It’d be a pay cut but I could swing it. My dog would have to go back to apartment life, but I don’t think he’d mind as long as I found is a sunny spot. Like all my friends moved away during the pandemic though.
At this point I feel like the “right thing to do” would be talk to BF and go to counseling. I don’t have a lot of hope that he’ll make any changes though, and I don’t know what I could change aside from going back to managing his help with the house. Has anybody here had a situation like this turn around with counseling?
TL;DR: I’m thinking about ending my 12 year relationship and things are finally lining up to make it feasible. I feel like the step you take next in situations like this is relationship counseling. Has anyone ever had it really help in a similar situation?

2024.05.20 09:03 MrProcrastinacion Host mum on tension with 17w exchange student - what shall host dad do?

Sorry for long text: A 17-year-old girl has been living with us (family of 7) for a few months as an exchange student. She has a nice and friendly nature, is an only child and really wanted to be the "big sister" in a large family. Now, however, she often finds it difficult to cope with the hustle and bustle of our family (children aged 3 to 11) because she is likely to be hypersensitive and reacts strongly to loud noises or hectic times. If it's too much for her, she retreats to her room and gives herself a break - she's okay with that.
Shortly after our arrival, after a few "aha" moments, it became clear that our exchange daughter had grown up very sheltered by her mother. We talk about it openly and she often says when we do something that she never did it herself or didn't even know it was necessary. Her mother "managed" everything for her and took it off her hands. So: She never has done housework on her own (like: I shouldn't wash black and white clothes together? Ok.); for almost all activities she needs an step-by-step explanation and instructions first (like: Egg dish? Never made.); because she has no practice at it, and you have to check if she is doing it right; sometimes she thinks she has a better idea how to do it and gets instead a bad result - but she is trying at least ;-)
My wife, on the other hand, had to be very independent on her parent's farm as a young girl and was able to run the household on her own at the age of 17 because her parents worked hard in the fields. She is also a little heard impaired and sometimes speaks louder than normal. So if my wife talks to our exchange daughter in that way to explain something to her - the girl often makes a meee-face unconsciously, because I think it's too loud for her. My wife instead often gets offended by that and "the girl isn't listening again" or "the princess doesn't want to do". She also is tired of explaining things "a girl this age should know that already" or going an extra mile to achieve something "I do it myself, it's faster done".
So tension was building up recently between the two females and now my wife starts asking me, that I should decrease my efforts in the exchange: "It's only two months to finish the exchange, don't invest time in doing things with the princess." She even gets angry sometimes or sends me a facepalm, when I suggest leaving the house as a family and show the girl some nice places of your country et cetera. My wife likes to stay at home on weekends, bc the kids consumpts a lot of energy over the weekdays and she need it for recreation. So I struggle between two things: Should I take the advice of my wife and reduce activities ("sorry girl, we are in a rural area, there are no buses on weekends, you have to stay with us at home, you can read...") or should I keep the pace for the last weeks to not end the exchange with a bad taste of "they didn't care any more at the end" and take the elderly kids and the exchange daughter out to activities even I get into conflict with my wife?
Thanks for your insights on this in my opinion lose-lose situation.

2024.05.20 09:03 Majestic_Present6397 Long Distance relationship

I'm from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and my girlfriend is from Pahang, Malaysia. We're both 16, and the distance between us is almost 200 km. She told me she will move to Selangor, which is only 30 minutes away from me. My family usually visits Pahang for vacation, and I told her that I would be coming next month, but she suggested we should meet when we're 18 because our parents won't allow us to date as minors. I respect her decision and agree it’s a good idea for us to date openly with our parents' knowledge instead of secretly. She matches my humor, but she faces challenges at home; her father verbally abuses her mother, and her parents often fight. I'm not sure how to comfort her since she usually ends up comforting me and also she told me she is not worried about them. However, she tells me she loves me very much, and I care deeply about her. I always send her words of appreciation, telling her how beautiful she is and how much I love her. I keep her updated on everything going on in our lives.I love her so much and can’t wait to meet her. Her mom takes good care of her, and I hope I make her happy too.We always text each other and play games online together. She doesn’t care about my looks; she just loves me. Whenever I ask her about something, she responds with affection. She also gives me helpful tips on studies and takes good care of me. ***My question is: how can I take good care of her and comfort her during hard times, and how can we ensure our relationship lasts in this long distance, how to make her happy and she is the one who comfort me during hard times

2024.05.20 09:02 Icy-Beautiful5158 Need your opinions please

I've been an active member of the sub lately as I (28f) am very suspicious about my ex's PA and I'm finding support here.
It's going to be a little long but here is my story: . So, my previous ex who was virgin 25M , had an ED and we were discussing the effects of porn on men and he was openly concerned that it may be one reason. Long story short, we broke up for a total unrelated reason. But he raised my awareness on the issue, and somehow dots were being connected in my mind about my past experiences. (Exes gawging on other girls, saved seminudes obsession with beauty tits and asses- I was never ok with that but kinda accepted it because I never experienced an ED from a bf before)
Then, I met my now ex, who is 32M been single for a long time (almost 6years) and had only two short relationships and sex prior to me, but like, unfinished sex as he told me because he couldn't finish. He was very anxious the first time we tried to have sex, he was literally shaking. I was cool with that but I talked my thoughts out about how porn influences sex and relationships etc . He didn't disagree with me but also didn't agree. He just said that HE DOESN'T LIKE PORN has no addiction to it and could easily stop watching. Long story short 2 months in dating and we managed to have normal sex but often he would have ED or he would take an hour to finish.
Rewind to the 1st month of dating, we unexpectedly end up at his home and as he opens YouTube there is an asmr video by a half naked woman suggested and he immediately tried to defend himself saying he doesn't know what is this and this girl makes him ashamed. Then he told me that he MARKED IT AS UNINTERESTING because he isn't anymore, now that he has me.
I was very concerned. After some days I brought up this topic again and he admitted he was lying out of shame and he knew what was that and watching this kind of things for sexual arousal as a single man. It took me long to get past this lie (we also were long distance ) as I made clear that I value honesty and straightforwardness as anything from the beginning. He said that he needs some time to work on being straightforward as he has some past trauma of rejection when he was honest. We talked it out and everything was fine and he also told me that he doesn't watch anything because he wants to check how the ED will go and he "holds" himself for sex with me.
Two weeks ago, again at his home, he was at work and I had this gut feeling. He gave me his password of his pc and I snooped on his history. Found again recently watched asmr, twitch th*ts looking nothing like me (yes OFC he is a gamer). I felt disgusted but like I saved myself from one more PA at the same time...
I told him everything, he tried to apologise and he said I just looked out of curiosity but didn't do anything. (Indeed he just sneaked for like a minute according to his history). He said Its just curiosity, nothing else, and "I see beauty like art" (he is an artist) and bs like that. But when it came to the asmr he said "yeah i watched when we were arguing because of my lie and i thought you were going to end it with me and I will end up only with this again." Big liar ,as the video was watched a day when we were pretty much ok and I hadn't brought it up yet again. Confronted about this as well. He told me I don't wanna lose you, but he couldn't even in the end be honest. He was once saying one thing then another. He also said that when he said "he doesn't like porn so he doesn't watch it" he meant the video on sites , not the camgirls and onlyfans. Gaslighted me and misdirected me.
I told him that he has issues with lying and he needs to work on it. That there may be something deeper that makes him lie and he may not yet be aware of it. I advised him to go see a sexologist/someone specialist even now that we broke up and he said okay thanks for the advice. ( he was about to go by his own will before I end it , because of his ED, but after I ended it he didn't want to go because he said that there is no need now, as he will end up alone). I also told him you are such a nice guy (indeed he is) don't let internet use consume you, it's such a pity. That was our last conversation. So I don't know if he will try to do something about that and even if it's worth it of waiting for him.
One week of no contact and I've learned so many things about PA. And I'm in a big dilemma. On one hand I want to share everything I got to know those past days, I'm sure that he isn't even aware of all these. I'm sure he thinks that "he just likes that" but in reality it's how he trained his brain to like that. But on the other hand I know that HE HAS to want to change. And he's behaviour showed that he doesn't see an issue, he just didn't want to lose me and it's just incompatibility. But I know he just needs to open his eyes... He abstains from every other substance. He is so nice and kind. IT'S SUCH A PITY. what would you advise me? Should I try or just let it go?
Thanks so much for reading

2024.05.20 09:02 Majestic_Present6397 Long Distance relationship

2024.05.20 09:02 krisfey it's been a month, and a day doesn't pass where i don't think about her

it's been a month, and a day doesn't pass where i don't think about her
on april 13th of this year, i met the love of my life. my mom woke me up at 11 am, telling me she needed help. a kitten was ditched in our backyard by their mama, and it was going to rain soon. knowing they couldn't be ditched there in the rain, we took them in.
they were tiny, the sweetest baby i've ever seen. we suspected that they were born just the day before, april 12th. we have another cat who's quite territorial, and two other dogs, so, anticipating that we wouldn't keep them for long, or at least until we found her an owner, i "distanced" myself and tried to not get attached. we bought them kitten formula, bottles, and a tiny stuffed lambchop. it was the size of them. they were so tiny.
while they were slightly difficult to feed sometimes, she usually eventually caught on and started to eat. they were situated in a decently sized box. their lambchop, a towel, a heating pad, a rice sock. it was so cozy.
everyone in my family is very busy, so we found a decent schedule to keep them well fed. of course, this meant one of us had fo stay up decently late to keep them well fed. it all worked out eventually. i wish i was the one staying up so late with them more often.
we bought them more of their own stuff, more bottles and they were truly apart of the family already. the dogs loved them and even our cat was slowly getting used to them, going and seeing what they were doing and wasn't hissing at them that much anymore. they were truly mine. i began to be their mother, and i put down this defense i had where i needed to keep myself distanced. i started thinking of all the toys i wanted to buy them, where they could sleep in my room... they were my baby, and i was thinking about the life i would have with them.
my baby was becoming harder to feed, and they were having sudden diarrhea. kittens aren't supposed to be able to go to their bathroom on their own yet, so this was something that warranted a vet trip.
i had school, so i was unable to go, but my mom let me know that the sudden diarrhea was likely just due to the kitten formula, and it would all be normal once they start to consume solid food. while that would take a while, it was something i was willing to deal with.
we also officially learned their sex, since it's hard to discern sex at such a young age. she was a girl. my beautiful baby girl. now that i had a gender, i could finally pick out a name! i had brainstormed a list, but wasn't sure yet. i'd get her name soon.
i stayed up late that night. doing homework and such, since i'm a student. i fed her a few times, cuddled with her. i was just so happy to have the love of my life with me.
i went to sleep around 4 or 5 am. i was exhausted. then, i woke up around 9 am. my mom was frantically waking me up.
she had died while i was asleep. she wasn't even with us for a week.
there was lots of crying. i remember it very vividly. the loss of color in her nose and toe beans. the slackjawed face. how cold she was. it was so wrong. i had found my love and didn't even get to take care of her for a week. i was distraught.
we took pawprints and printed out all the photos we took of her to put into an album. we also dug her a grave, adorning it with flowers and a small stone.
the next few days were hell. i was so depressed. endlessly doomscrolling on my phone, which i never do, sitting down and just staring at the wall for ages. i felt like my heart had been torn out of me. all i could do was cry and look at her pictures, listen to the same 3 videos i took of her, meticulously analyzing her meows and trying to imprint it in my head.
just hearing my family watch videos that feature kittens meowing sends me into some kind of shock. making me suddenly depressed.
it's been a month now, and this is still true. while i do not cry and i am not scrolling on my phone without end anymore, i think of my precious baby every day. any kitten videos i see make me incredibly sad and i can't handle it. i have lost numerous pets before, and it's never affected me like this. i need help. i miss her so much, and i don't know how to continue my life as if she was never here. what do i do?

2024.05.20 09:01 WatermelonDealer How to safely vent fuel tank without fuel coming out?

Hi everyone,
I own W126 560SEL Mercedes that's had its fuel tank removed, cut open, fully cleaned out, and welded back up. This was required because:
a) the car sat for 10+ years. b) There was around a fistful of rust dust on the inside when I took it out, and the intake screen was half blocked. c) The entire k-jetronic injection system was fully rebuilt. I mean literally every part in the fuel system, bar the fuel accumulator. Those who know, the tolerances are extremely small and even the most minor dirt in the fuel can affect how the car runs so it's important you have a clean tank in any 70s 80s 90s Mercedes.
We weren't able to reinstall the original venting equipment inside the tank, as welding it back up would be impossible as it could explode due to the fumes inside the plastic components, which are fitted inside the tank.
As a temporarily solution I simply drilled a 5mm or so hole in the center of cap and put a vacuum hose through it as a "vent ". However I have noticed once the tank is over half full, it will spill on moderate turns or if you're going up a steep hill. To combat this, I put a one way fuel check valve BUT the tank doesn't suck air, it EXPANDS so the check valve is practically useless as the fuel just gets blown through it and if I arrange it so the direction is the other way, it just over pressurises the tank and makes it almost impossible to take the cap off until the pressure relieves after some time.
What are some solutions that are possible to let it expand safely without spilling gas underneath the car?

2024.05.20 09:01 PliablePotato A full analysis of HIT ME HARD AND SOFT

This is by far my favorite album from Billie and is slowly becoming my favorite album of the year. I've been through the album many times now and want to share my interpretation of the entire work as I firmly believe it is intentionally cohesive and structured to have an overarching narrative.
Overall, this album is of course about a relationship Billie was in. I do think she wrote these songs about multiple different people but structured it to be cohesive. Each song throughout the album is a step along this journey and either is parallel to, or in direct reference of, the stages of the relationship and her feelings throughout. She leverages a number of metaphors and thematic imagery that's mentioned multiple times throughout the album
SKINNY
On its surface, SKINNY is about her fans, the public and the media and their lack of awareness of her actual mental state (ie they think skinny = happy) . In addition, I view this as her introducing the narrative. This is current Billie reflecting on the relationship and her experiences and setting up the story to "feed the hungry internet". She asks persistently "do you still cry?" knowing that she herself does even after everything she did for this person and "not doing them wrong".
This song sets up 2 important thematic elements first is The Bird/Cage/Trap. While it varies from positive to negative, but ultimately, the theme is a sense of being trapped in the relationship, for better or for worse. I do think that is also is tied to this relationship being with another women and Billie's sexuality. It has a parallel theme to The door which i will discuss later.
The other theme is String Motif which is what ill call the melody and string orchestra that plays at the end of this song. In my opinion, this melody represents the relationship itself and is used 2 other times throughout the album for different purposes. This is personally my favorite thematic element as its beautiful and pays off mid-way through the album.
LUNCH
Lunch is fun, flirty and explicit first step in the relationship. Its Billie and her love interest kicking things off intense and obviously full of passion. In the broader context of the album its the "honeymoon" phase, full of heightened emotions and fun. This may be a stretch, but i do find it fascinating putting a song called LUNCH after a song called SKINNY and i think its a metaphor for her relationship fulfillment and happiness in the moment.
CHIHIRO
Personal favorite on the album. There is a ton of imagery and parallels to spirited away in this song of course that i think Genius and other lyric websites do a decent job of breaking down. I'm going to focus on the context of the album.
CHIHIRO is Billie dealing with some of the likely obvious red flags she noticed immediately as things become more serious. Its Billie trying to reconcile the "fling" that's occurring and it being a potential serious relationship that she needs to invest emotionally in. She has reservations considering the lack of response or commitment from the other person and the theme of space/rest/freedom ("I need to be along, take a break", "cant cope with anymore") as opposed to Billie's lack of sleep / closeness / commitment ("waiting in the garden", "come back around" etc.) (which comes up a few times in the album).
However, Billie ultimately aligns on committing, trusting they'd "show [her] whats in store". This is also the song that introduces The door. This theme, I typically associate with the bird change / trap (which is also mentioned in this song). It represents opening up about their feelings, letting the feelings "out". and letting Billie in. This may be a stretch, but I do wonder if its associated with the other person not feeling comfortable "coming out" in the sense of their sexuality either.
BIRDS OF A FEATHER
Billie is now happy to "stay in the cage" with the person, calling back to the Bird/Cage/Trap theme. Birds of a feather sticking together. The lyric "I dont know why im crying" i think is referring to CHIHIRO, basically "i dont know what I was so worried about this is great" but also she still feels an uneasiness about the whole thing. Billie is willing to spend her whole life (till the day she dies) with this person (or in other words the love of her life).... so she says. Despite the rose colored glasses, Billie starts to sense the cracks in the 2nd verse. "Say you dont see it....Say you wanna quit". Billie is all in at this stage giving everything she's got to try to make this work and just hoping their lack of commitment is "a bit" or them "being stupid". For now, Billie is in love and thats all that matters.
When i first heard this song i kinda thought it was a bit too "cliche" for Billie. However, in this context it feels like shes grasping at straws, trying to find the good, looking past the issues and saying shes in love. It makes future songs like L'AMOUR DE MA VIE hit harder since its basically calling her feelings in this song a lie.
WILDFLOWER
This takes a bit of a detour in my opinion. I think this is more about a previous relationship (though thats of course speculative). I dont want to discuss real people because i dont think it matters. This is a song about her supporting a women through a break up and ultimately dating her ex and the guilt / issues that come along with that. I think narratively, shes looking back on other issues in her past relationships, mistakes she made and ultimately her not speaking up when her feelings were hurt. I have a theory that the women she is supporting is who this album is about (ie she ended up dating both of them which makes these lyrics hit even harder) but thats just speculative.
THE GREATEST
This is a pivot point on the album. Its when Billie "snaps out of it" so to speak and realizes how much she is putting in but how little she is getting out. She expresses this in many different ways, begging for passion and waiting for something to change. Right off the hop Billie mentions again the rest / staying up all night theme of her committing while her partner is allowed space / comfort / coming and going. While it was a simple worry originally in CHIHIRO, it is now officially a problem weighing on her. "Man am i the greatest" is notably sarcastic but also has some truth to it. Its a reflection of regret/shame in terms of just how much time and energy she's put in despite getting nothing ("doing whats best without a reward" "All my love and patience", "...time I waited" etc etc).
This song ends with The String Motif, the same one played at the end of SKINNY. However, this time she is belting it "I loved you, and I still do...Just wanted passion/what i gave you". While its related to the other lyrics, I feel this as "current" Billie screaming through, telling the story that connects us back to SKINNY (and hint hint ultimately to BLUE). This moment is so powerful because it symbolizes her change in perspective but just how much it still weighs on her and upsets her. Its a very important moment in this relationship/album and how she cope's / deals with it. Its probably my favorite moment on the whole album.
L'AMOUR DE MA VIE
I feel like this song is YIN to BIRDS OF A FEATHERs YANG. Basically, she admits that all these feelings were bullshit because she knew there were problems from the beginning. Shes over all of the excuses the person was giving for not committing, opening up etc. They said they "cared" a lot and would be destroyed if she left but they moved on right away. I think its a little over the top like BIRDS OF A FEATHER was but in the opposite direction. She's coping with the hardship she faced and described in THE GREATEST. The back half of this song I just think is her anger coming out about how little time it took for the person to move on, she flings dissses (you were so mediocre) and proclaims, "Its over now".
THE DINER
Im curious what other's think. Obviously on its surface this is about her stalkers and how conniving it is however i do think its connected to the narrative. She mentions trying to save the person which is a theme thats brought up again later. The way i felt is that this is her obsessing over the relationship they moved onto in L'AMOUR DE MA VIE. Shes stalking them trying to figure out what she was missing and how she couldve made it work.
BITTERSUITE
This is a reflection on many dream sequences Billie has about the relationship. Shes not over it, shes on tour overseas now but is still obsessed with it its ("underneath all of her beliefs"). She imagines that she is now desired by the person (the thing that she desperately wanted in THE GREATEST). She admits she hasnt been able to fill the void left since they broke up. She also brings up the theme of not sleeping (despite the dreams). At the end of this song she also brings references back to L'amour dema vie" and "Open up the door for me". Shes dreaming and hoping and fantasizing about how it was, what it could have been and what she wanted. By the end of it she seems to be getting what she wanted... but its unfortunately just a dream. Of course this transitions into BLUE with the same melody at the end and BLUE has coming.
BLUE
Blue closes things off and explicitly connects all of the major themes in the album. She makes direct references to several other songs "Birds of a feather", told you a lie desole (L'amour dema vie), dont know whats in store / open the door (CHIHIRO), in the back of my mind (WILDFLOWER) im still over seas (BITTERSUITE), a bird in a cage (SKINNY). This is her reflecting, accepting and trying to get over it but having difficulty.
The transition in the music and ultimately the lyrics is to her gaining understanding and acceptance for the other person. She's able to cope with the relationship falling apart because of what the other person went through. This provides a different meaning to BLUE. While at first it was her being sad, now its her now ex-partner growing up BLUE (likely not accepted by her parents or a difficult childhood). Billie proclaims "i dont blame you, but i cant change you, dont hate, but we cant save you). This is a form of acceptance but also a reference to THE DINER about trying to save the person, though now its acceptance instead of an attack / blame. "Too afraid to step outside" is in reference to the cage, the trap or stepping through the open door. Billie realize she also had fear and could have done more.
Finally, the final String motif playing the same melody as in SKINNY and THE GREATEST, this wraps the entire album sonically and thematically. It showcases the acceptance but the weight it still has and ultimately the impact this relationship had on her.
Im probably missing some stuff but this is what i took away from it. Love to hear any other thoughts or perspectives!

2024.05.20 08:59 _crumbles What has successfully reversed your androgenic alopecia hair loss?

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2017. Only symptoms I had were irregulapainful periods and acne on my face and other areas. I’ve seen gynecologist, endocrinologist, family medicine. All wanted to be on birth control. I wish I had NEVER started it. They put me on the patch (gyno did) but it caused me to have daily periods for 3 months. Then switched to Estarylla/Sprintec. Took that from 2017-2019. Went cold turkey as I learned more about how awful birth control is. That’s when my hair loss began :( I had a scalp biopsy and only a few labs draws from a hair loss dermatologist. The scalp biopsy came back inconclusive and labs were “within normal limits” despite my testosterone sitting at 70? I was diagnosed with AGA. Derm said coming off birth control “kickstarted” AGA. But I read that AGA is genetic. Was told to try minoxidil topical and spironolactone 50mg every day. Upped the spiro to 100mg since the 50mg didn’t work. Then to 150mg, didn’t work either. So I stopped taking it. I still applied topical minoxidil every day for 4 years and although I had the dread shed and it stopped, I have yet to have any hair growth. My hair is much worse now :( I consulted with a Nurse Practitioner that specializes in hair loss and she said usually vitamin and mineral deficiencies can mimic AGA and she wanted to a lot of tests to figure it what my levels are, but I didn’t follow up, I’m ready to now. I’m so appreciative for her wanting to do this because ALL of my other doctors declined to do any further lab testing such as vitamins and minerals. They all told me “it’s expensive and unnecessary” :(
All experiences are welcome! Please answer the questions that apply to you:
  1. What medications are you on? And what dose?
2 Have you or are you doing PRP injections/other injections?
  1. What supplements are you taking? Is this in addition to the medications?
  2. Have you or are you using any essential pils?
  3. What hair shampoos and conditioners are you using?
  4. When were you diagnosed? How were you diagnosed?
  5. How long did it take for you to start having hair growth from what you’ve been doing?
Have any of the above affected your fertility in any way and/or affected your baby’s health?
Care to show your before and after photos? :D

2024.05.20 08:58 Flimsy_Breakfast2463 [Suggestion needed] Issue with ex tenant.

Hey guys, I had this tenant who lived in my flat for around 5 years. He evacuated and gave me the keys of my property last year he has still not paid me the rent for three months. My house was totally damaged and was full of rubbish and pigeon shit and eggs as he left the windows open and locked the apartment for around 6 months. Upon receiving the keys I found that he has not taken his sofa, tv cabinet, washing machine and a bed.
I tried reaching out to him several times last year he never picked up my phone. I even tried WhatsApp call and messaged him to take away his dirty stuff as it’s of no use to me and his sofa is full of dirt and occupied too much space and washing machine does not work.
After around eight months in March 2024 he called me and said he will take away his stuff. To which I said pay the remaining dues and please take your stuff. He never showed up.
Yesterday he called me again that he will take his stuff in this month. I do not think he will come. I heard from other neighbours that he told them that he wants to buy my house that’s why he is not taking his stuff.
Also I have moved his Sofa, a bed , tv cabinet and a broken washing machine to my store house.
So my question is how should I deal with this guy? He seems to have political connections. Is there any grounds on which he can sue me? Should I not ask for the due rent and return his stuff?

🔗Stack-On Beveled 18-Gun Security Cabinet - Protect Your Valuables

https://preview.redd.it/ggwlu92d4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=057e80d99c53b971637032eef3f392d51a014be7
The Stack-On Beveled 18-Gun Security Cabinet, Steel, is a reliable and durable option for storing your rifles, shotguns, pistols, and other valuable belongings. The exterior finish is a sleek black, and the interior is spacious with an abundance of storage options. One of the main draws of this cabinet is its strong security features, including a key-coded cylinder lock and 4-way door locking system.
However, the most disappointing aspect of this cabinet is its build quality. The thin metal sheets and weak locking mechanism make it an untrustworthy option for securing your precious firearms and valuables. I had high hopes for this cabinet, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. I found the installation process to be somewhat difficult and time-consuming as well.
On a positive note, the steel shelves are a nice touch for added durability and support. They make it easier to organize your firearms and accessories, and the adjustable half-width shelves allow for customization. Additionally, the molded barrel rests and foam-padded bottom provide an extra level of protection for your antique firearms.
Unfortunately, the interior design is not as well thought out as it could be. The placement of the barrel rest holes is not ideal for all firearms, and some users have noted that the paint job inside the cabinet is of poor quality, leading to rust formation.
Overall, while the Stack-On Beveled 18-Gun Security Cabinet, Steel, has its merits, the build quality and installation process are significant drawbacks that cannot be ignored.

🔗Top-rated, affordable gun safe with robust security features

I recently had the opportunity to put the Fort Knox PB1 Handgun Safe to the test, and I must say I was impressed with its durability and functionality. This safe's 10-gauge steel body and 3/16-inch wraparound door make it practically impossible to break open, ensuring that your valuable firearms are well protected. I particularly enjoyed the gas-strut-assisted heavyweight door, which makes lifting the door a breeze and holds it open for easy access.
The Simplex push-button mechanical locking system is a winner in my book. It's fast and easy to use, providing up to 1,081 different combinations to keep your safe secure. The textured grey powder coat finish adds an elegant touch while still exuding a sense of strength and quality. The interior features egg crate foam lining to protect your firearms, guns, and magazines from scratches and damage.
One of the standout features for me was the convenience of pre-drilled holes for easy bolting down. It made setting up the safe a breeze and allowed me to feel confident that it wouldn't be going anywhere. The only downside I experienced was the limited number of combination possibilities, which could potentially make it easier for someone with ill intentions to access the safe. Still, this safe's overall build and security features outweigh this minor inconvenience.
The Fort Knox PB1 Handgun Safe is the perfect solution for gun owners looking for a reliable and strong safe to protect their firearms. With its sleek design and impressive construction, this safe is truly the best bang for your buck.

I've had the pleasure of using this gun safe in my home for quite some time now, and I must say, it's been a reliable companion. The first thing that stands out is the 3-directional bolt system. It gives me peace of mind knowing that my firearms are securely locked away. Plus, the high strength steel construction ensures durability, even in the face of potential wear and tear.
One feature that I absolutely love is the soft foam pad at the bottom. Not only does it provide a cushioned resting place for my weapons, but it also helps maintain their condition over time. The holes for mounting to the wall and/or floor are another great addition. This gives me the flexibility to install the safe wherever I see fit, whether it's in my bedroom or living room.
However, no product is perfect. There are some aspects of this gun safe that could be improved. For instance, the keyed access can be a bit cumbersome at times. While it does offer an added layer of security, it can also be a nuisance if you misplace the key.
In conclusion, this affordable 5-gun safe from American Furniture Classics has been a worthwhile investment for me. Its robust construction and secure 3-directional bolt system make it an ideal choice for those looking to store their firearms safely and securely. While the keyed access may require some getting used to, the overall quality and performance of this product are well worth the cost.

I recently needed a gun safe for my firearms and I stumbled upon the VEVOR 6 Gun Safe. As a responsible gun owner, I always prioritize my gun's security. The VEVOR Gun Safe not only promised advanced security features but also boasted a durable construction.
What stood out to me the most was the dual-lock system, both with a fingerprint and digital keypad. This feature ensures that only authorized individuals can access the safe, providing an added layer of protection. The dimensions of the safe were perfect for storing my firearms, fitting them perfectly without any issues.
However, there was one downside: it was a bit heavier than I expected. At 82 lb, it required some effort to move around when needed. But overall, the VEVOR Gun Safe served its purpose by protecting my valuable firearms and my loved ones. I would highly recommend it to any gun owner looking for a reliable and secure storage solution.

As a first-time gun owner, I was in the market for a small and affordable security cabinet. I came across the American Furniture Classics 5 Gun Starter Metal Security Cabinet and decided to give it a try. I must say, this cabinet has exceeded my expectations in terms of its 3-point locking system, which keeps my firearms safe and secure. The cabinet is made from high-quality black powder-coated paint, making it both attractive and durable.
One of the standout features of this cabinet is its soft foam barrel rest and carpeted floor, which protects my long guns from scratches and damage. It's also fully assembled right out of the box, so I didn't have to worry about any confusing instructions nor spend hours putting it together. Additionally, it includes four expansion bolts to secure it to the floor, providing even more peace of mind.
However, there are a few cons to consider. Some users have reported issues with the cabinet's build quality, stating that the metal seems thin and may not withstand a determined break-in attempt. Additionally, the cabinet's lock mechanism has been described as "flimsy" by some, leaving me slightly concerned about the overall security it provides.
In conclusion, the American Furniture Classics 5 Gun Starter Metal Security Cabinet has become an essential part of my home, providing a secure and affordable storage solution for my long guns. While it may not be the most robust option on the market, it provides more than enough security for everyday use.

🔗Affordable Gun Safe with Dual Lock Security and Built-In Storage

https://preview.redd.it/8zwoslxe4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=953c2adb6e894cbec464cf136a62514b6d267cd3
Imagine you're a serious gun owner who values both your firearms and the safety of your family. You've searched tirelessly for a reliable storage solution, but most are either too complicated or too expensive. That's where the VEVOR 6 Gun Safe comes in - a practical, stylish, and affordable option.
Opening the safe, you're greeted by a spacious interior, with ample room for your rifles and pistols on the adjustable shelves. You appreciate the versatility, allowing you to customize the storage according to your needs. However, you also notice that shorter firearms fit perfectly, but longer ones might not find enough space unless you remove the pistol shelf.
Securing the safe is a breeze. The dual-lock system, which includes both a fingerprint and digital keypad, provides both convenience and security. It makes you feel confident that your family and valuable firearms are well-protected.
Making the VEVOR 6 Gun Safe even more appealing is its solid construction. The exterior has a sleek black finish that adds a touch of sophistication to your home. The wall thickness is sturdy at 0.04 inches. However, you notice that the metal used in the construction does not have a specific classification, which may leave some wondering about its durability.
In conclusion, the VEVOR 6 Gun Safe is a worthy investment for those seeking an affordable, practical, and reliable firearm storage solution. Though it might not be perfect for everyone, its strengths outweigh the minor drawbacks, making it a satisfying addition to your home security.

🔗Winchester 26 Long Gun Safe - Secure and Spacious Storage for Your Firearms

https://preview.redd.it/vlz2h5jf4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=61b6c3261b8ae2a45f8e324d6ca5ee7db5ac9a38
As a reviewer who has been using the Winchester 36 Long Gun Safe in my daily life, I can confidently say that this is a great investment for anyone looking to keep their firearms and valuables secure. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the sleek, powder-coated gun metal gray finish, which added a stylish touch to the safe while also enhancing its durability.
One of the standout features of this gun safe was its electronic lock with an override key. Having both an electronic keypad and a backup key gives me peace of mind knowing that I won't be locked out in case of a power failure or if the electronic lock fails. The solid steel locking bolts provided robust security, ensuring that my firearms are kept safe and secure at all times.
The interior of the safe was spacious enough to accommodate up to 26 long guns, making it an ideal choice for gun enthusiasts and collectors alike. Additionally, the adjustable shelves allowed me to customize the layout according to my needs, providing ample storage for other valuables as well.
However, there were some cons worth mentioning. The door of the safe had a bit of play in it when closed and locked, which could be improved upon in future models. Furthermore, the instruction manual could have been more comprehensive, especially when it came to resetting the combo on the electronic lock.
Overall, I would recommend the Winchester 36 Long Gun Safe to anyone looking for a reliable, well-made safe with ample storage and good security features. It may not be perfect, but at this price point, it's hard to beat.

🔗Wasatch 24 Gun Fire and Water Safe with Anti-Theft Electronic Lock

https://preview.redd.it/jh3iue0g4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36d65b68d6ef7b00359c9f30fff86da717771277
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Wasatch 24 Gun Fire and Water Safe with E-Lock 24EGW, and I must say, I was impressed. This fireproof and waterproof safe is perfect for gun enthusiasts who want to protect their precious belongings from potential damage.
One of the most impressive features of this safe is its backlit electronic lock, which comes with an Alarm-U function. The alarm notifies you of any attempted theft, and the backup key provides an extra layer of security. I loved that it offered external hinges, allowing for a full 180-degree opening, making it effortless to access my safe.
The interior door storage and 3-spoke handle design were another bonus that I found extremely useful. Additionally, the safe is equipped with 3 1.5-inch active locking bolts and 2 dead bolts that effectively deter any potential intruders.
However, I did notice that the safe is quite heavy, which can make transportation difficult. The size of the box also seemed to be larger than originally estimated, which was a bit of a hassle.
Overall, my experience with the Wasatch 24 Gun Fire and Water Safe with E-Lock 24EGW has been positive. I feel confident that my valuables are safely guarded, thanks to its impressive fire and water resistance capabilities. While there were a few minor drawbacks, they do not outweigh the fantastic features of this safe.

🔗Secure 3 Rifle Gun Cabinet with Digital Lock

https://preview.redd.it/4aq91zng4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcd2ac3ca2e89341c095d3031776004bd3b115ab
Nestled within the realm of personal security, the VEVOR 3 Rifles Gun Safe has been an invaluable ally in safeguarding my collection of firearms. Its digital keypad and robust construction create an aura of safety, providing me with peace of mind. The quick access feature has proven incredibly useful, especially during those moments when every second counts.
It's hard not to rave about its craftsmanship, a crucial aspect that never ceases to impress. The removable shelf, ammo storage box, and pistol rack make organization a hassle-free affair. However, one minor drawback - the locking mechanism could benefit from a more secure two-way system for enhanced security. Despite this, it's a reliable storage solution that ensures my loved ones remain protected from accidental access.

🔗Classic Solid Wood Gun Cabinet

https://preview.redd.it/76sz9m6h4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc27ed8e36290b4186da3f9750d9eae0a5909930
As a firearm enthusiast who wanted a stylish and secure way to store my guns, I was excited to try out the American Furniture Classics 8 Gun Cabinet. I have to say, this piece of furniture definitely added an elegant touch to my living room, while keeping my guns locked away and out of reach from unwelcome hands.
The first thing that caught my eye was the quality craftsmanship of the cabinet; it's made from solid wood and wood veneers, which gives it a rich, timeless finish. The careful design of the gun organizers ensures that each of my rifles are held steadily in place, with felt-lined butt plates and barrel rests preventing any potential scratches or scuffs.
One feature that I particularly appreciated was the tempered glass front, allowing me to proudly display my collection while still keeping them safely behind a fully-locking key lock system. The capacity to store up to 8 long guns made it perfect for my collection, without taking up too much space in my home.
However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. The instructions were a bit cryptic, making the assembly process slightly more challenging than it needed to be. Additionally, the storage capacity is limited, so I wasn't able to fit as many scoped rifles/shotguns as I would have liked.
Overall, the American Furniture Classics 8 Gun Cabinet has been a stylish and secure way to store and display my guns, bringing both elegance and practicality into my home. Despite the small issues with assembly and limited storage, I would still recommend this cabinet to anyone looking for a high-quality gun storage solution.

🔗American Furniture Classics 16 Gun Metal Cabinet

https://preview.redd.it/7bb6yelh4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11f0df0dfe6263561b58977c876d46497a1a9222
I've been using the American Furniture Classics 16 Gun Metal Cabinet for a while now, and let me tell you, it's been quite an experience. This classic design, featuring a scratch-resistant black finish with gold accents, certainly stands out in my living room. The cabinet interior and door back are adorned with wood grain paneling accents, which add a touch of elegance.
Now, when it comes to setting up this cabinet, I must admit, it wasn't the easiest task. The instructions were quite lackluster, leaving me to figure out a lot of things on my own. However, once I got the hang of it, the assembly process became relatively smooth. The cabinet is solidly built with heavy-duty materials, making it sturdy and reliable.
The cabinet is designed to hold 16 guns, and it definitely delivers on that promise. I was able to store various types of rifles and shotguns without any issues. However, one downside is that it doesn't accommodate modern sporting rifles with scopes or magazines attached. So, if you're primarily looking to store those types of firearms, you might need to look for a different cabinet.
Another con worth mentioning is the door quality. While the door is sturdy, it doesn't close completely, leaving a small gap. This may not be a significant issue for everyone, but it's something to keep in mind.
On the positive side, the cabinet offers ample storage space and can easily be secured to the wall or floor. The locking mechanism, although not the most secure, is sufficient for keeping young children away from the guns.
Overall, I would recommend the American Furniture Classics 16 Gun Metal Cabinet to anyone looking for a stylish and functional gun display case. While there are a few drawbacks to consider, the cabinet's affordability and ample storage capacity make it a worthwhile investment.

SnapSafe Under Bed Safe was a game-changer for me. I wanted to keep my valuables secure but also easily accessible, and this product fit the bill perfectly. Its sturdy construction with heavy-duty steel and pre-drilled bolt holes made it a reliable option for permanent installation. The 3-foot cable provided additional security by allowing me to anchor the safe to a stationary object.
The digital lock was a standout feature, with its programmable 3 to 8 digit access code and key backup. It also featured a pry-resistant door, which added peace of mind by keeping unauthorized users at bay, especially children. However, one downside that I noticed was the audio beeps, which could be a bit noisy at times.
Using the SnapSafe Under Bed Safe in my daily life was trouble-free. The large slide-out drawer accommodated a variety of items, from firearms and jewelry to documents, giving me the flexibility I needed for secure storage. The interior space was more than enough, and the exterior dimensions enabled it to fit neatly under my bed, taking up minimal space.
Overall, I highly recommend this product for anyone looking for an under bed safe that offers both security and convenience. It may not be perfect, with the audio beeps being a minor drawback, but it certainly gets the job done and provides the peace of mind I was seeking.

Buyer's Guide

When it comes to securing your firearms, a cheap gun safe is an affordable solution. However, not all budget safes are equally reliable or practical. In this guide, we'll help you navigate the world of bargain gun safes, considering their features, construction, security, and more.

Security Rating

https://preview.redd.it/lo7yjcom4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e33797c73995919e044126e4ba72b717887b7683
The first thing you should look for when searching for a cheap gun safe is the security rating. While it's true that most economical safes don't have the high-end security features of their more expensive counterparts, there are still options with a reasonable level of protection.
Common security ratings for safes include ETL, UL, and BSI certifications. Look for safes with a combination of good construction and locking mechanisms. You should also consider the thickness of the door and walls, as this plays a significant role in preventing forced entry.

Type of Lock

Gun safes often use various types of locks, including electronic locks, dial locks, and key locks. For a cheap safe, a key lock is usually the most secure option. However, electronic locks can be convenient for frequent use, especially if you forget the combination frequently.
Electronic locks tend to be more vulnerable to electronic attacks, so if you choose this option, ensure that you have a good backup system in place, such as a set of spare batteries or a spare key.

Interior Size and Organization

Another essential factor to consider when buying a cheap gun safe is the interior size and organization. A safe with adjustable shelves and dividers can allow you to better organize and store your firearms, ammunition, and accessories. It's also essential to look at the dimensions of the safe's interior to ensure that it will accommodate your firearms.
If you plan on adding more firearms to your collection, consider purchasing a safe with a larger capacity or the ability to add more shelves or dividers as needed.

https://preview.redd.it/x8xsbrsn4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8b973b7dd199177937692e25689732066ddab45

Weight and Construction

A cheap gun safe will not typically feature the best steel thickness and overall construction. However, a heavier safe is generally harder to move and more challenging to break into. Many budget gun safes use electronic locks, which means they rely on lightweight materials, such as aluminum or steel with lower thickness ratings.
Before purchasing, check the safe's weight and materials. The weight of a safe is critical when you consider its ability to protect your firearms from theft or unauthorized access. A safe with steel walls at least 0.4 inches thick and a door at least 0.5 inches thick is a reasonable starting point.

Other Considerations

  • Choose a safe with an anti-pry bar to protect against physical attacks.
  • Making sure the safe has a powder-coated finish can prevent rust and make it more durable.
  • Look for a warranty that covers the lock and structural components of the safe.
  • Regular maintenance, such as lubricating locks and examining the exterior, is essential to ensure the safe's longevity.
  • Consider purchasing add-on security features, such as cable locks or padlocks, to enhance safety.
Purchasing a cheap gun safe doesn't mean you have to compromise on security and quality. By knowing what features to look for and what warning signs to avoid, you can find the perfect budget safe that meets your needs without breaking the bank.

2024.05.20 08:56 Toxic-Icecream I still feel bad about my ex best friend.

So it's been a few years now and I haven't talked to / about this person since our falling out. I can't remember half of what had happened but to sum up what I do remember:
( Tl/dr) me and my ex best friend aren't friends anymore and it's probably (most definitely) my fault. I didn't give them important details/lied about a shared friend we were both really close to. We had a fight and that's it.
Important context:
It was during a time when someone who we were both incredibly close with (he was my boyfriend, who i lived with and he was their best friend of like 10+ years) had left to live else where and I was experiencing and extreme form of psychosis from the sudden change in living situation. Me and my boyfriend of 5 years had been living together for almost a year and a half when, after some personal stuff on his end, he decided to move away. Our lease wasn't up yet and I had to take on his half until he had enough security to help me. (He did help me in the end but I also recieved help from family) I was also relatively far from my family. Full disclosure they lived an hour and a half away but i had been so used to them being a couple doors down and it was my first time living away from home.
It was hard trying to afford the cost of living by myself and my mental health took a sharp dip. It was so bad in fact that I remember almost none of it despite it happening in the 2020s.
Because I had already been feeling depressed before he left, my boyfriend leaving made me feel hopeless and alone. I was hospitalized twice, the second time was the longest at 3 weeks. I was put on suicide watch and had been sh so bad I'd use the sh in question as paint and would have visual and audible hallucinations. My boyfriend at the time and I have apologized and acknowledged that it was a bad time for the both of us.
Actual story bit:
After my second hospitalization we had gotten into the friendship ending fight.
Without going into a lot of detail (primarily cause im afraid ill not mention something), they said i manipulated them and my boyfriends whole family into hating him because he moved. That i said and did things to intentionally make them hate him and pity me. And that I lied about a lot of things (I can't remember about what all).
We had been best friends for 5 + years and the way they were describing me didn't at all sound like me. It was like hearing them talk about a stranger. (If I pay for food at a fast food establishment and they took the money and didn't give me the food, I'd be too scared to ask them for it because I don't wanna be an inconvenience (this has happened before).) My fear of being an inconvenience keeps me from doing or saying lots of things i really should. It all felt so out of character for me. Part of me still doesn't want to believe I even did half the stuff they said I did but if im honest i don't remember the entire period of time my boyfriend had moved so maybe it did?
I do remember that after almost a year of no contact with this person, they randomly started interacting with some of my accounts under a fake name. Sending threatening messages, things like calling me fat, telling me my family is disappointed in me, sending me pictures of the outside of my home, telling me to kill myself. I knew it was them but part of me also wanted it not to be? I kept trying to convince myself it was someone else but you know. It got to a point that I did file a report with my local police department.
Even still i miss them? I don't think we could be friends but I can't find it in myself to be upset with them. I just feel kinda sad. Maybe it's the nestolgia of our old friendship or maybe it's the guilt, but I just feel sad. I hear about them in passing sometimes, not a lot but just a small thing here and there. Like how someone we both know saw them recently and stuff like that.
I'm not going to try to contact them or anything. I am also aware they have my reddit and cannot stress enough that I do not want to talk or interact with this person in any way. I just want them to be doing okay and I'm sorry it all happened. I can't change what I did or what happened back then but it still weighs on me. Maybe getting it off my chest will help me move on.

2024.05.20 08:56 Gaswden China’s Quantum Research Achieves Major International Breakthrough, WiMi Competes to Layout Quantum Technology

On May 7, a research team from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) made important progress in the research field of quantum states of matter and quantum computing.
The research team arranged the self-developed “photonic boxes” into arrays and realized the fractional quantum anomalous Hall state based on photons for the first time in the world, creating a new platform for physicists to study the fractional quantum Hall effect. This achievement provides a new path for efficiently researching more and more exotic quantum states.
As a next step, the team plans to, on the one hand, develop a dedicated quantum simulator to construct fractional quantum Hall states in a controlled manner to understand the fractional quantum Hall effect. On the other hand, it will excite quasiparticles with fractional quantum Hall states in the next year or two, and explore the development of topological quantum computers with higher fault tolerance.
Although mature quantum computing applications are still a long way off, various achievements are adding to them. After more than a few years of efforts, China’s quantum science and technology field as a whole has realized a leap from tracking and running parallel to partially leading, and is in the international leading position in the research and application of quantum communication, in the first international square in quantum computation, and in the international leading position in some directions of quantum precision measurement.
With the speed and heat of technological development rising, quantum computing research has become a hotspot for the world’s top laboratories to compete. Industry analysis, quantum computing can empower the field of arithmetic, commercial landing slope long snow thick, Chinese companies continue to catch up with the international leading level of quantum computing can achieve exponential level of acceleration in certain issues. In the long run or will break through the AI arithmetic limit, “quantity superfusion” is the development trend.
WiMi lays out quantum technology
At present, cutting-edge fields, opening up a “new track” for future industries and accelerating the “industrialization” of quantum technology have become the key elements for our country to enter the forefront of innovative countries and seize the scientific and technological commanding heights. In this process, WiMi Hologram Cloud (NASDAQ: WIMI) follows the development of new technologies, new applications and new scenarios, and researches and lays out the technical fields of artificial intelligence, quantum computing, big data, cloud computing and other technologies involved in the new quality of productivity, gradually playing an increasingly important role.
The industry believes that in quantum communication, quantum computing, and quantum measurement of the three first to be concerned about the quantum technology segments, quantum communication is expected to take the lead in the commercialization of the field. WiMi early in 5G communication infrastructure network, industrial Internet, Internet of Things, vehicle networking and other scenarios to realize the scale of application, boosting the communications industry’s high-performance, high-quality development. At the same time, it embarked on the productization of quantum technology, the initial formation of cloud + quantum, algorithms + quantum and another industrialization layout, to accelerate the industrialization of quantum communication technology landing.
WiMi efforts to bridge business technology and market demand, close cooperation with the downstream industry, quantum product application promotion and other aspects of further strengthening, innovation in the business model and the positive expansion of their own growth space. It can be said that WiMi’s layout in the field of quantum technology is a positive response to the strategy, which helps to promote the rapid development of the quantum technology industry, fully linking the industrial ecology, focusing on the relevant research strengths and innovation resources, and carrying out collaborative research and development, which is expected to promote China’s scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement.
Conclusion
According to the data forecast by professional organizations, quantum computing is expected to be commercially available within 10-15 years, and the investment in the global quantum computing market will keep growing at a CAGR of 11.5% from 2023-2027, and by the end of 2027, the investment in the quantum market will grow to $16.4 billion. With the gradual release of market space in the field of quantum computing as well as quantum communication, Chinese companies are narrowing the gap with international leaders in the field of quantum computing, with faster technological progress in research institutions and hot financing for startups to catch up quickly.
Of course, in the field of quantum science and technology, it is important that only with the joint efforts of all parties can we establish a benign market and interaction to promote the healthy development of cutting-edge fields, and only a healthy, stable soil can produce full and fruitful fruits. In short, optimistically expected, the relevant enterprises are expected to take advantage of quantum technology this new track or open broad market prospects.
