2024.05.19 22:29 Possible-Package9316 Bowel movements

How long did it take you to pass a bowel movement after surgery? I’m on day 4 now and had laxatives day and night eased back onto solids. Passed gas no problem but worried about how long it’s taking to pass stool as I was going 6/7 times a day with my symptoms before surgery and a little worried! Other than that everything else has been okay. Had significant gas pain first day or so but that’s gently eased. No massive pain and only taking half the doses of pain meds mainly just on a morning as tender and on a night to help me sleep. Had lots of liquids and peppermint tea to ease the nausea but it’s nothing compared to pre surgery!

2024.05.19 21:53 x-Katiebug Peppermint mocha cold brew

I've been seeing a lot of posts on here about how smelling peppermint oil helps some people with migraines(although, if you haven't tried it beware because it is ironically a trigger in others). I personally have not tried oil for smelling because I can have a pretty sensitive nose while in the thick of a migraine and am pretty confident it will only make things worse. However, Peppermint mocha creamer which is usually only available during the holiday season still hasn't gone away yet in the grocery stores around me for some reason.
My past few migraines I've been trying it out in cold brew based on seeing people here praise it, and holy cow does it feel good. Definitely doesn't make it go away but while I'm sipping on it, it gives me the exact cooling effect on the roof of my mouth that I didn't even know I was itching for on top of a little caffeine boost.
For those who are caffeine sensitive, peppermint milkshakes have the same effect, with the added bonuses of soothing nausea as well as the ice cream being available year-round. Unfortunately haven't tried out any alternatives that are dairy free in case anyone has migraines and lactose intolerance, but I'm sure you could mess around with mint extract in cold drinks or try iced peppermint tea.
Anyway, just wanted to share in case it helps anyone else. Also, little side note: if you buy premade cold brew(I like Stōk) it does have significantly more caffeine than regular hot coffee which can be counterproductive to my migraines. I personally just add a little water and some extra creamer so I can dilute the caffeine without reducing the amount of liquid gold I can drink

2024.05.19 19:01 Slice_Wild Exhausting

53F symptoms have been more annoying than debilitating, except the nausea and fatigue. I also have MDD and anxiety, but DV malaise feels differently, like I'm encased in a box stuffed w cotton-filled exhaustion. Losing weight that I've needed to is a plus, but being too tired to excercise and build muscle is not. I'm not a fan of plain water, but I've learned to love lemon & ginger and peppermint tea for hydration. Colonoscopy and GI are two months away, so I guess(?) until then everything I eat will give me gas and Benefiber & Miralax are my new best friends. Cannabis makes the nausea manageable, but that's just me. I just needed to vent.

From reading post on here i see believe everyone’s sb is different in the sense that one thing might work for you but not the other person w sb. so thats all to say here’s what i use thats helped me with my sb (i only get it near my t zone area and scalp with occasional spots on my cheek that go away in. a week or 2)
Face witch hazel(no alcohol), a little aloe vera gel, emu oil, seb derm cream (like eczema cream) , rn im washing my face w shea moistures green tea bar, sometimes i’ll mix some peppermint when washing my face or i’ll add a drop to my emu oil before applying to my face regularly
Scalp (i have dreads) rn im using heads and shoulders dry scalp almond oil shampoo w zinc and i think its been working better then anything else i tried but its too early to tell
i wash as needed when i see small flakes starting to appear (lowkey still finding my wash pattern but i think once or twice a week does it for me) rn w the shampoo im going on day 4 and my scalp still looks clean and moisturized
i mix in peppermint w my shampoo sometimes if i want that feeling
i use emu oil for my scalp with peppermint after a wash and thats rlly the only time i oil my hair
hope this helps some of you and drop your routine in the comments

2024.05.18 21:09 Jazzlike_Formal_4923 Sulfur burps when upping a dose

Hello! When I was on 2.5 I didn’t have any side effects, but when I took my first dose of 5.0, I started getting the dreaded sulfur burps. I’m wondering does your body adapt to the new dose so there is a reduction in burps after a period of time? Or should I start taking Pepcid or Pepto Bismal chews like I’ve seen recommended on here? Peppermint tea and ginger chews haven’t done much, though they are my usually go-to for upset stomach.

2024.05.18 19:38 StatisticianSure8070 [29M] Throat/respiratory irritation. Not urgent. My hair conditioner saturated into the air in a very hot shower. I sang deeply from the chest during it and invited conditioner into my respiratory system. Would like some advice on flushing this stuff out/managing the vapors still coming from it.

It's not an emergency, I'll say again, I can breathe fine. It just hurts my throat a bit, is coating my mouth and probably lungs, and really vaguely makes me want to gag sometimes. I don't feel a need to cough, plus I think it'd hurt anyway. I've drank liters of water, vomiting once unintentionally, but the conditioner is heavy and feels oily, so it's stubborn I'd imagine. I don't know. I'll keep drinking fluids as my stomach allows but wanted more advice for quality of life.
I took some edibles so I don't want to drive to the store or walk in clinic
I have a lot of otc stuff here, but it's a special case so I don't know what might be secretly harmful (if any, ofc). I've gargled salt water and rinsed it out, brushed my teeth and gums and palates. Cough drops and gingepeppermint tea. I brewed them at the same time without thinking hard about it, and it's disgusting but it kind of helps.
Probably not advisable but it helps my throat to vape this mint flavor. I want to push stuff out anyway I think, maybe a little inflammation'll be the ticket right? That's partially sarcastic, but it's helping me take deep breaths so maybe there's something there.
My throat hurts, so my reflex is not to breathe through my mouth. I'm also salivating a ton, spitting it out as it comes. I plan to go get something with guafenesin later, but figure I better ask if that's right for this case. I can lightly clear my throat with no discomfort so if it's a matter of clearing out anything it brings up I think I'd be okay. I just don't know if that's the effect I want at all.
If so, are there any specific formulation that would be more helpful than another? I'm leaning towards pure guafenesin if available because coughing isn't a problem. (My completely uninformed thought process is that dextromethorphan might be a "concession" that trades comfort for making the guafenesin less able to do it's job. On the other hand, maybe it synergizes kind of paradoxically and pushes even more stuff out. I don't know the science, but it's kind of fun to think about it)
Anyway, thanks for reading and hope to hear from ya

2024.05.18 18:12 StatisticianSure8070 Throat and lungs are all messed up because i sang with conditioner hanging in the air. Noobie mistake. I'm flushing with water, but need more tips because I can't drink any more

I know the answer is probably to wait, but I need this astringent oily mess out of my system and I wanted to ask people who might have expertise. Also posting to medical/singing subs
It's kind of panic mode though. I can breath through my nose and it makes things okay. But I need like something else to flush all this stuff out because I keep spitting this viscous saliva out. I don't want to imagine what's deeper. Spoilers because it's gross, but it includes what I've done.I drank enough water to make me vomit. It's oily so I don't know if it's going to be enough. I can't like drink a soap. I've got some gingepeppermint tea for the throat(more disgusting than the vomiting) but it's really the breathing. I I won't be conditioning in hot water again, not until I know anything about it.
Edit: I can't really get to a doctor now, but it's not like a life or death thing. It's just disgusting and I can't go to sleep like this

it’s important to romanticize & enjoy what you already have 💕
a little WIMB & reflection as i sit at the park- i have been completely obsessing over wanting an ink medium crescent for a while now and today i realized that it’s gotten exhausting. baggu is a beautiful brand with so many amazing prints and colors, it’s totally ok to really want these exciting things! (trust me, i GET it) but sometimes you just have to romanticize and enjoy what you already have, even if it’s not your “dream” item. at the end of the day, it’s ok (and good/necessary) to take breaks from consumption and wanting what you don’t have. if i end up with an ink crescent one day, that would be amazing, and if not, that’s ok too, because i really do enjoy my bluebell crescent. going to appreciate this group for the fun of baggu rather than comparing what i have to others. 💕🫶🏽

2024.05.17 21:56 Hav0cPix3l Thank you

I have been stalking your community for about two weeks now, even posts that are years old, and I feel better. The diet change really helped, and the IBGard with peppermint tea, or as we call it yierba buena, has let me be able to be somewhat almost pain-free. I think the biggest change was letting go of cheese, milk, and flour tortillas, which I will reintroduce in the future. I will not reintroduce whole wheat bread or insoluble fiber.
I was in pain for months until one doctor diagnosed me with IBS, and his co-worker doctor did not. I'm still unsure, but I read here that some of you guys and gals also have to linger peeing due to the bowel being inflamed with a sensation of wanting to pee hit the nail on the head for me.
Thank you all. I will be following up with my gastro soon, but reddit communities like yours help people.

After some searching, I found out that this design was made using vectors. Would it most most be likely that Adobe Illustrator was used?

Facial hair 1.25 years in
I had been using tea tree oil a couple times a week when I first started T for my acne. Then I stopped because I read that it blocked androgen receptors, shortly after I cut it out of my routine my beard progress slowed.
Decided to try it again since I felt like my progress had slowed enough that it was worth the risk of it doing the opposite of helping. A bit too early to say for sure but I think it’s actually helping?
My guess is the blood stimulation is outweighing any hormonal effects. Gonna try mixing peppermint oil into my moisturiser instead and see if there’s a bigger impact since that’s supposedly proven to help somewhat.

2024.05.17 18:47 Ma1iceNWndr1nd What am I doing wrong??

3 dpo from laparoscopic hysterectomy leaving my ovaries, and also a labiaplasty. I'm taking all medications as directed, eating lots of fiber and drinking lots of water. I see everyone saying they felt better day 3 and didn't even have to take their narcotics. That is not my experience at all. I am in more and more pain it seems as the days go by. I sleep when I can, but every time I wake up, usually to pee, the pain is excruciating. I know I am having some gas pains, but I have to push pretty hard to pass it, despite taking gasx and drinking peppermint tea. I keep feeling like there's discharge but my pad doesn't have much blood or discharge (what is there is safe to say from labiaplasty). When lying down, its much more comfortable to sleep with a pillow under my lower back, but even then I wake up in so much pain. Sitting up for too long also hurts. Also, did anyone have a strange odor? Every time I go to the bathroom I smell something weird, but my husband says he doesn't smell anything. I am so discouraged and worried and I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.

2024.05.17 03:22 EasyLittlePlants Pushing on the stomach?

So I've got a weird situation and I'm looking to see if anyone relates, cause I haven't seen the stomach pressing thing mentioned anywhere else. I probably have endometriosis, and now, I get so much trapped gas and bloating. It's gotten more and more difficult to get anything out over the past few months, and I've really had to limit what I eat and drink.
If I'm on my heating pad, whether it's on my stomach, chest, or back, I'll feel the vibrating of stuff trying to move around in my pelvis/abdomen. Following diets for gastroparesis helped when things weren't so bad, but at this point, limiting my diet is nowhere near enough for me to be able to act like I'm ok.
I haven't had the barfing issue, thank GOD. I can barely eat, though, and eating used to cause bad cramps until recently, probably because I'm on pregabalin now for my pudendal neuralgia. Dulcolax doesn't really help and just causes horrible cramping as well. Several times per day, I go into the bathroom for an hour or so to press and pull certain areas of my stomach where I know things get stuck. It makes tons of noises, like water and growling. It hurts a bunch in sensitive areas, and then I'm able to push some gas out and sometimes have a bowel movement. When had comes out, it's embarrassingly loud, sometimes like a balloon pop. I feel like I get these huge water balloons inside me and everything feels so tight. It's really weird and totally exhausting. Recently, I'm only functional and able to work until like 4 pm. I did a pelvic MRI recently and they were just like wow, you're constipated. Like, I know that already.
I wish I had a better memory to know how it used to be and how it progressed. It didn't used to be this way. I know I struggled with my Endo stuff, and that something was going on with my digestion too, but it really wasn't so debilitating until now. I had trouble and pain in just my left side around my hip and then more and more problem spots started showing up. I really don't wanna be stuck spending months and months going through a million more tests, because I'm so uncomfortable and unable to maintain my life at this point. I take gas x, peppermint tea, naproxen, just in case they'll help. It's hard to tell.
The way I started out with just Endo, the way a gastroparesis diet helps me, the trapped gas, the specific spots where things get stuck, and how more have shown up over time... it's adhesions, right? But I don't think a surgeon will be willing to listen and cut me open. I'm so scared of the possible barrier of if I'm required to do a colonoscopy. I can't imagine the agony that the laxatives would cause for me.
