2024.05.20 07:38 Plaguings [GUIDE] Every method I've found to boost performance and keep stable framerates.

[GUIDE] Every method I've found to boost performance and keep stable framerates.
After many, many hours of searching and tweaking I have gotten stable framerates. This is more directed towards people with around a mid tier PC, but should still benefit all.

1. Boot.Config

This is one that most people already know about but I figured I should include it anyways.
Navigate to X:\SPT\EscapeFromTarkov_Data and find the file labled Boot.Config and edit it. If you don't have a text editor Notepad ++ is free but the default windows one should work fine.
Delete everything here and copy these lines in.
gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=1 gfx-enable-native-gfx-jobs=1 gfx-disable-mt-rendering=1 wait-for-native-debugger=0 vr-enabled=0 hdr-display-enabled=0 gc-max-time-slice=10 job-worker-count= single-instance=
Now, once that is copied there is one more step, press Control + Shift + Escape, this will open task manager.
Navigate over to the performance tab and click on your CPU. You should now see all of the information for your CPU, all we need from here is the "Logical Processors" take that number and subtract one then add that to this line.
job-worker-count=
It should then look like this.
job-worker-count=15(or whatever your # of threads is as mentioned above)
Lastly, be sure to go in game and turn ON 'Only use Physical Cores' in the settings.

2. In game settings

Now that you are in your settings, I'll recommend some.
If you have a much better GPU than everything else in your PC, you can actually get a small amount of frames by increasing your settings, this should (in theory at least) take off some of the load on your CPU.
Post FX can also be frame killers so try playing without them if you really need the extra FPS, remember though, you can always use reshade for a lower cost re-color.

3. RAM Cleaner and ISLC

I'm sure most people know about the RAM Cleaner but what most people don't know about is ISLC(Intelligent Standby List Cleaner)
By default your computer will use your RAM and Page File(which I'll talk about later) to cache information that it deems could be useful. I believe Tarkov also uses this feature. The issue is that sometimes this cache can get too large and start taking away from system memory, to fix this you can use ISLC
Normally this program isn't doing all that much, but as we all know Tarkov loves to eat RAM so this is one case where I find it to actually be helpful.
ISLC reads your Cached memory on an interval and if it meets 2 quota's it will clear that cache.
You can download it here
After you install and open it you'll be greeted with a screen that looks like this.
https://preview.redd.it/fe6xivdoli1d1.png?width=756&format=png&auto=webp&s=6abd5b10e55eef0361a5cada9100a5533497c9ab
It can be a bit daunting but there is only 2 settings you need to worry about. They are the two text boxes in the bottom left.
If you have 32 GB + of ram you can just copy my settings, this will only clear the cache in extreme situations so it won't happen often but should help with memory leak.
If you have any thing less I recommend setting both of the boxes to half of your ram.
So for 16GB it would be -
List size is at least : 8000
Free memory is lower than : 8000
Then you can set it to start on windows startup, but I only recommend this if you have 32 GB with settings similar to mine, as windows(for me) hovers at around 8 GB cache for general use, and having that be cleared when not gaming can make some apps slower.
Otherwise, just click the start button when ready to play, or alternatively you can set both of the boxes super low, so that they would always clear you cache, but only activate the program when you need it cleared.
WARNING* If your values are set to low and ISLC is constantly cleaning you WILL experience stutters. Both windows and Tarkov are going to be constantly writing to your standby list/cache to meet their base needs, so cleaning that before you need to can cause performance problems.

4. Page File

A page file is essentially backup RAM that is obtained from your storage, this is already enabled by default but the size is too small to have any real performance gains.
  1. Open windows search.
  2. Search for advanced system settings.
  3. Navigate to the advanced tab if you are not already there.
  4. Under performance click settings.
  5. Go the the Advanced tab again.
  6. Click the change button at the bottom under Virtual Memory.
  7. Select your FASTEST drive and change the tick to custom size.
  8. Put your initial size to something low, I have mine at 1000, but 5000 is good too.
  9. Set the maximum size to HALF of your system RAM, if you don't know what this is open task manager again and go back to performance tab and there will be a RAM section that will tell you, but I'll assume everyone here knows that already.
  10. Click Set, then Ok, then apply, and then OK
  11. It should then prompt you to restart, don't skip this, manually restarting sometimes hasn't applied Page File settings for me, so just get it out of the way.
This is where the guide ends for most people I'd assume, but if you are really interested in gaining "performance" look below.

5. Lossless Scaling

This is by far the biggest bump in "performance" I've had. The reason I put it like that is because Lossless Scaling allows you to use Frame Generation. Meaning it quite literally just doubles your framerate.
There are a couple downsides, one of which being that Lossless Scaling isn't free. Its $8 on Steam, but worth it all. Worst case scenario, you try it and don't like it and are able to refund it with less than 2 hours of use.
If you decide you want to try this then follow along.
https://preview.redd.it/h2afgdopoi1d1.png?width=871&format=png&auto=webp&s=935e619b031e590b17ce90483f8186b1fa8eedf3
It should look like this on launch, for most people you'll probably only need Frame Gen, but incase you're interested it also allows upscaling, but I won't be touching on that because I don't think its helpful for most people.
Firstly go to the Rendering Tab and copy these settings.
https://preview.redd.it/kqoqdzh0pi1d1.png?width=210&format=png&auto=webp&s=aa6b009ca1a24f4c331b5394c34d76d768f437dc
Allow tearing set to on will massively boost responsiveness making the latency added almost non existent.
Draw FPS will show you what FPS you are actually getting, in game counter won't show generated frames.
I don't use either of the other 2 options so use at your own discretion
Then go to the Capture Tag and set capture API to DXGI
That should be all for the settings.
Next go in game and set your game to windowed fullscreen(yes you have to do this, Lossless Scaling isn't compatible with Exclusive Fullscreen) If you plan on messing with upscaling I'll save you some trouble, it requires you to be on windowed mode(not windowed fullscreen)
Now all you have to do is make sure you game window is selected and press Control + ALT + S
you're screen might flash black but you should then see the game and have a grey FPS counter in the top left.
Next is probably the most important step, CAP YOUR FPS TO HALF OF YOUR REFRESH RATE.(Don't if you only have 60hz)
Frame gen requires stability so if you can't hit half your refresh rate at least most of the time then lower your cap further. I don't recommend capping it any lower than 45 as it'll have more latency and ghosting the lower you go.
This is all for this part. If you have any questions or more info on any settings that I didn't explain properly feel free to comment.

The Maxsa Innovations 37314-W-RS Park Right Garage Laser combines safety and ease in one sleek package. Its laser-guided parking system illuminates the way for up to two cars, even in the tightest of garages. Installation is a breeze - simply use the included screws or double-stick tape, and plug it in to your choice of AC power source. If power goes out, don't worry - the laser park comes with a battery backup option, ensuring it remains a reliable navigation aid.
But the real winner is the motion-activated LED light. No more fumbling for switches as you enter or exit the garage with your hands full. Its sensitivity is on point, turning on as you approach from up to 10 feet away. This smart feature not only makes parking a breeze but also prevents potential trips or falls in the process. Overall, this Park Right Laser with Motion Activated Light is not just a nifty gadget, but a game-changer for the garage parking experience.

I recently tried out the DeWalt DCLE34220GB, a 20V Max 2-Spot Cross Line Combo Green Laser. This powerful tool impressed me with its fine adjustment feature, which made setting it up faster and more accurate. The 20V Max platform offered a range of possible runtimes, with an impressive 23 hours on a single 2 Ah battery (not included).
One of the standout features was the magnetic mount, which made it a breeze to attach to most steel construction materials. However, I noticed that the locking pendulum could sometimes be a bit fiddly to adjust. Overall, this laser is a valuable addition to any toolkit, especially for those building rail mounted structures.

🔗Self-Leveling Construction Laser for Interior and Exterior Applications

https://preview.redd.it/gku45zb9ji1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a139ef116259173e230bab2b0d595580d7e4b8b
Using the Trimble Spectra Precision HV301 laser has been a game-changer for my construction projects. It's a versatile device, ideal for both indoor and outdoor work, and can handle an impressive range of tasks, including leveling and aligning forms and footers. The laser's impressive clarity makes it easy to spot from any angle - it even rotates 90 degrees, offering both plumb and perpendicular references.
The HV301's self-leveling nature saves me a significant amount of time and effort in making sure the device is perfectly level before beginning each task. I also appreciate how the package includes everything one might require in the field, such as a carrying case, a laser receiver, rechargeable batteries, and a charger.
That being said, the device did not come with a manual, which I found a bit inconvenient. Additionally, the device's battery life could be extended - it ran out after just a few hours of use.
Overall, the Trimble Spectra Precision HV301 laser has become an indispensable tool in my construction projects, due to its adaptability and high visibility. Despite the few drawbacks, it's a worthwhile investment for anyone in the construction business.

🔗Accurate Green Beam Line Generator Laser for Outdoor Levels

https://preview.redd.it/jcnt1rt9ji1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76360c37b985dd7caaa86ff3336d5faa89807823
I recently had the chance to test out the Craftsman Green 55-foot Self-Leveling Outdoor Line Generator Laser Level with Cross Beam, and let me just say, it's been quite the adventure! Now, I'll admit, I'm not exactly the handy type of person, but I figured it was time to step up my game and tackle a project or two around the house. As a complete novice, this laser level seemed like the perfect tool to help me out.
The first thing that stood out was the brightness of the green laser beam. It made the cross beam visible like never before, even in the daylight. The self-leveling feature was also a fantastic addition, as it made my life so much easier. Instead of trying to figure out the angle on my own, I simply turned the switch on and off until I heard the beep, and the laser level did the rest of the work for me.
However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks I ran into. The first issue came when I tried to use it outside. Although the product description said it could be used outdoors, I found that the laser beam didn't have quite the range I had hoped for. In fact, the brightness started to fade at around 10 feet, and completely disappeared by the time I reached 20 feet. I had to rely on a tripod and position it very close to the wall in order to see the laser line.
Additionally, the 3 position lock switch with manual mode felt a bit tricky to use at first. I needed to refer to the instruction manual to figure out exactly how it worked and how to move between the different modes. Once I got the hang of it, however, it became pretty straightforward.
Despite these small drawbacks, I can honestly say that I'm quite happy with this laser level. Its brightness and ease of use made an absolute novice like me feel confident in tackling a few projects around the house. If you're just starting out and need a reliable tool to help you level, this little green machine just might be the perfect fit for you.

Users can also print using a variety of mobile apps, such as the Canon PRINT Business app. The printer includes a 3-year limited warranty and is backed by Canon's Service and Support network.
While the imageCLASS MF751Cdw offers many impressive features, its bulkiness may be a drawback for users looking for a more compact printer. This entrepreneur buys a gas station for his wife’s baby shower
If you’re interested in growing your wealth, starting a business, or living a truly rich life, these six tips can help you do it the right way.
He didn’t buy a bed until he got married. And when his wife was pregnant, he wondered, “How much does a baby cost?” Today he owns ten gas stations and even a building that houses the Wells Fargo bank.
https://preview.redd.it/h815a0yvei1d1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4d65328ee20c0a2a76e2239c535b06006828c5c
The farther down this page you read, you’ll understand how you too can buy gas stations and banks.
More importantly, you’ll start to feel, think, and act like a wealthy entrepreneur.
A wise man once told me this:
“You need to think wealthy before you become wealthy”
I remember these words like it was yesterday…
And I like what it means. But I had one problem though.
I struggled to understand the specific principles that wealthy people used to think.
So tell me something…
How did you buy your first car?
Did you buy it cash down?
Or, did you borrow money? Took an auto loan, perhaps?
Let me tell you a little story.

Buying my first car.

Over twenty years ago, I bought my first car.
And everything happened so quickly…
A car salesman stopped me at my office lobby. He asked if I was interested in buying a car. And he handed me a pamphlet.
It basically said that based on my salary, I was eligible to take an auto loan.
The promise that I could drive a brand-new car in ten days was too tempting.
So I gave in. I signed up for an auto loan.
And in less than ten days, I had this shiny new gray-color car!
It had power windows, an electronic steering wheel, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, and all the bells and whistles. Smart move, right?

Hold on to your horses!

Smart move or not, I’ll let you decide after you’re done reading the rest of this post.
Recently, I’ve been binge-listening to some of the backdated episodes of a podcast I LOVE.
And I bumped into a very familiar name.
Syed Balkhi.

The millionaire teen.

I first heard of Syed long ago in 2006 when I started blogging. But little did I pay attention to what he did. All I knew was that he had a website called WPBeginner.
It was a blog about WordPress for people who built WordPress websites or plugins. I liked his content and spent a lot of time reading his blog posts as I was building WordPress websites too.
Syed is in his thirties today. Which means he must’ve been in his early teens in 2006!
In about eighteen months of starting WPBeginner, he made his first million dollars in annual revenue.
And ever since, he’s grown his business, Awesome Motive, big time by acquiring other WordPress companies.
If you aren’t familiar with WordPress, it’s a CMS software. Content Management System, in short.
It’s a software that supposedly powers 40% of the internet. But that’s not the best part. Here’s what is:
Syed’s company today owns ~60% of all WordPress businesses.
https://preview.redd.it/q94pw2dyei1d1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad09e2577179c030bdbba726b7dbaf7f368d44bc
I call this the Balkhi Domination Disc.
Put simply, Syed’s businesses power 24% of the internet.
This is HEWGE!
Okay, another story…

The gas station story.

At some point on the podcast, Syed goes…
“I bought a gas station, the first one, primarily because I wanted to offset expenses…”
Offset expenses?
I was on a run while listening to this, and almost tripped when he said that.
Okay. Take a deep breath. I did that too…
Coz from this point on, it’s PURE GOLD.
And here goes the first and biggest lesson in wealth creation…

Tip #1: Every time you need to buy a depreciating asset, invest in an appreciating asset.

Syed says he learned this lesson from his mentor when he was thirteen or fourteen.
The best way to understand this is to loop back to my opening story…
When I bought my first car, I paid the monthly installments using my salary.
But when Syed’s mentor bought his Mercedes, he didn’t spend money from his savings. Instead, he decided to invest money in real estate. And he used the returns from that real estate to finance his shiny new Mercedes.
When Syed’s wife was pregnant with their first son…
He followed the exact blueprint.
He knew the money one would need with a baby birth – hospital charges, medicines, diapers, toys, and everything else!
So instead of spending money from his savings, Syed used the lesson he learned from his mentor to cover the cost of raising a baby – he bought a gas station!
It didn’t just give him the money to pay for the baby shower and childbirth. The gas station would continue to generate a steady flow of cash every single year.
Darn! Why didn’t it ever strike me before?
Mentor, baby! I’m glad to have found one in a podcast!
Okay, let’s look at the next one…

Tip #2: Build a recurring revenue business

In a content business, you turn email subscribers into paying customers. But Syed calls them just re-occurring revenue. The revenue occurs every time someone on your list buys something from you.
A new customer pays once. And unless you sell them something else, you aren’t going to make bank. The only way your business is going to see revenue trickle in from that customer is when you sell to them again.
The solution?
Build a recurring revenue business.
Syed regularly invests and acquires other WordPress software and tools businesses. This allows him to cross-sell software and tools to existing info product customers.
Of course, you can build recurring revenue info products too, using memberships and subscriptions – but Syed didn’t get into that on this podcast.
So yes, using revenue to acquire new businesses is a great idea. But how much should you invest?
Syed has stuck to one principle:

Tip #3: Heads I win, tails I don’t lose much

Syed learned this principle from his friend Monish Pabrai.
In his book The Dhando Investor, Monish talks about the Patels of India. He describes how this relatively tiny subset of humanity from eastern India went on to own most of the motels in the United States.
According to Monish, one of the biggest reasons why the Patels have been successful in business is because they always have followed this principle – heads I win, tails I don’t lose much. So what does this mean?
Let’s look at it with an example.
Assume the intrinsic value of a certain business is $1,000,000, and you buy it for $700,000. What you just did in that transaction is what he describes as a “heads I win, tails I don’t lose much”.
Because let’s say you did a great job with the business and the intrinsic value went up – you win!
But just in case you didn’t do much with the business and the intrinsic value dropped by $400,000, you only lose $100,000.
Heads you win, tails you don’t lose much!
This is wild!
At this point, I was fully invested in listening to this conversation. And I was just getting restless thinking…
“How can I buy a business on the cheap?”
And it just felt like the hosts heard me!
Let’s look at the answer to my question.

Tip #4: Identify “mismanaged gems” to compound at high double-digit

Back in the 1990s, my uncle built an empire buying distressed real estate properties. And it wasn’t easy. Every time he bought one, there was a lot of work to be done.
From litigation and dispute issues to structural issues, he was usually handed a mess. That’s why they were called distressed assets – thankfully, my uncle had the wherewithal to turn them around.
Mismanaged gems are different.
Syed describes mismanaged gems as good (online) businesses with some limitations. These could be in the form of having limited revenue streams, limited target audience, or something else.
Let’s look at a couple of examples…
  • Let’s take an online business where the creator isn’t aware of the different ways to monetize their business. You can acquire this business for $15,000. You use your Facebook Ads skills to sell $20,000 worth of info products and instantly increase the revenue.
  • If an online business has been running only using word-of-mouth marketing, you can acquire it and use your email list to instantly grow the business by exposing them to a new audience.
Here’s how Syed puts it…
“A business might only be thinking about monetizing from one angle. They’re not thinking about it from a full perspective. So I can look at it and say well yes this is the current revenue today, and I’m getting a bargain on today’s revenue. But here are my contracts that I have with so many different partners and vendors and such that I’ll be able to unlock extra revenue here, here, and here. So I turned this business that has one revenue stream to having like multiple revenue streams. That’s how you take something that was doing like no revenue to or very low revenue to having five eight ten million dollars in revenue.” – Syed Balkhi

Tip #5: Leverage the Ecosystem effect

If you’re starting a business, look for an ecosystem. What does that mean?
Syed’s entire online business is built around the WordPress ecosystem.
But there are many other software platforms like WordPress that have an ecosystem. Look at software like QuickBooks, Google Chrome, or Xero. These software platforms are built like an ecosystem, allowing developers to build plugins and extensions.
Most of these plugins and extensions are sizeable businesses in and of themselves. So if you’re starting a business, you’re better off starting one inside an ecosystem.
Starting a business inside an ecosystem exposes you to massive opportunities. You can grow your business through acquisitions, and cross-selling, amongst many other ways. And this also helps you compound over time.
Related Post: Speaking of selling, I think you’ll find value in this episode on The Launch Plan podcast about the F-Word that stops clients from buying your products.

Tip #6: Go from creatooperator to capital allocator

This one is an advanced idea. If you’ve done well with your business and have some cash in the bank, this one’s for ya!
Essentially what Syed says here is that you have one of two choices:
  1. You can choose to build a business from scratch, or
  2. You can acquire an existing business and multiply it.
Obviously, this is an advanced tip. But great business owners don’t master capital allocation overnight. While there are some common traits between the two, it’s a skill you need to build.
I haven’t bought a business so far. But I’m very interested in this. You’ll likely see me writing more on this topic in future posts.

Bonus ‘Rick’ Tip: Don’t be in a hurry to get wealthy

Have you heard of Rick Guerin?
If you haven’t, no worries. Neither did I – until I listened to this podcast.
Rick Guerin was Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger’s third business partner at Berkshire Hathaway.
Huh? Really?
I couldn’t believe it either. A third partner?
So looked up the interwebs for proof.
It turns out to be TRUE!
Here’s how Monish Pabrai describes what happened to Rick:
“In the ’73, ’74 downturn, Rick was levered with margin loans. And the stock market went down almost 70% in those two years, and so he got margin calls out the yin-yang, and he sold his Berkshire (Hathaway) stock to Warren. Warren actually said, I bought Rick’s Berkshire stock at under $40 apiece, and so Rick was forced to sell shares at … $40 apiece because he was levered.”
Rick was just as smart as Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. But he was in a hurry. And that’s the bonus tip!
That’s a wrap! Enjoyed reading this?

2024.05.20 06:06 No-Pudding7670 Passed the SIE yesterday first attempt, only 1 week of study (do not recommend)

Wanted to share my experience doing crash course studying for 7 days and passing the SIE first attempt! I never post anything on here, but others posts made a big difference for me, so here goes!
TL;DR:
I passed my SIE yesterday after only 7 days of study. Intense! I used Pass Perfect, spent 50 hours studying total. If you only have a week or two before your test, DO NOT take a bunch of notes on everything! Read the content, take the quizzes and test, take notes on those answers and explanations!
VERY IMPORTANT: Use the two free Achievable SIE dump Sheets and watch both the S7 Guru and S7 Whisperer 60 min crash course SIE YouTube videos the day before or day of test! I’ve included links at the bottom of this post. Be sure to memorize the dump sheet tricks and formulas, and decide what’s most important to reference. The test center gives you two laminated sheets and dry erase markers you can use as soon as the test timer starts. Be ready to write down key formulas, acronyms, timeframes, etc. Mine were the Options Matrix, SLoBS & BLiSS, yield teeter totter, Settlement times (T+1 or T+2) and notes on Open vs Closed end market. (All on the achievable formula dump sheets except specific Open/Closed Markets notes I took).
My Story:
In late April I was hired by Vanguard for a position starting May 28. I’d been a contractor doing customer service in an unlicensed VG position for about 10 months (no finance background before that); with the goal of getting hired in a licensed, permanent role within a year. I worked hard and got hired! The position requires SIE, S7 and S63. After my start date they pay me to do nothing but study and take exams for 9 or 13 weeks (depending on whether I’d passed the SIE prior to start date), which is awesome, but there’s a $5000 bonus if the SIE is passed at least a week before start date.
Note: I did have a little familiarity with basic terms and what’s required for account opening, due to my contractor position).
I originally scheduled my exam for May 13. I had about a month from hire date to May 13, and VG paid for the Pass Perfect course. I started some light studying the first week, thinking I had 3 more weeks and was on track. Then I got really sick for 2 weeks! I’m talking bed ridden, definitely no studying. So May 10 I rescheduled my exam to May 18! I had to pay $40 but figured it was well worth it not to fail, lol.
I was finally well enough to start studying on May 11, giving me 7 days. 😅 I had retained very little from my initial studying so I started over. I thought “I can do this!” I figured I’d had to do similar in college while working full time. Boy it was rough!
7 Days to PASS the SIE:
The first 3 days I had all day to study: Sat, Sun and Mon (had the day off for my original test date).
THE PLAN 41+ hours 5 practice tests, scoring at least 75%
Days 1-3 (full days) - 8+ hrs per day - Complete Pass Perfect Course (16 chapters) start to finish (reading and all quizzes, chapter tests)
Days 4-5 (Tues, Wed) - 5 hrs each day (2 before work and 3 after) - Take 1-2 Pass Perfect Final exams (1 hr 45 min each) each day, taking time to focus/take notes on anything I missed - Goal of 4 total tests, with 75% or higher on 3
Day 6 (Friday, day before the test) - 5 hours (2 hrs before work, 3 hours after) - Take 1 FINRA practice SIE exam before work (free on FINRA website) - after work, Review all Difficult Topics - Listen to S7 Guru & S7 whisperer on YouTube. (They each have a 60 minute crash course review, recommended for day before or day of test). - Print out Achievable Dump Sheets - add my own notes to dump sheets
Day 7 (Day of Test) Test scheduled for 2pm (1:30 registration) - 2 hours Notes and Dump Sheets Review in morning - Leave for Test at 11:30, arrive 12:30 (45 min drive) - One last Review of Dump Sheets for 45 min, take a break before registration
Great Plan Right?! Wellll, I didn’t quite stick to it. 🤣
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED: 52 Hours Study - Not at the planned pace! 4 Practice Finals (71% average) A lot of tears, anxiety and stress!😫 A rollercoaster of Self-doubt and Self-Confidence
Day 1 (Sat): 7 hrs Completed first 3 chapters, taking tons of notes on a Google doc, color coded and highlighted. I’ll do more tomorrow I thought, my brain is fried
Day 2 (Sun): 10 hours Completed chapters 4 & 5 again taking tons (too many) notes, taking quizzes and Tests multiple times, worried I wasn’t getting the concepts and terms well enough. Didn’t want to move on until I had chapters 1-5 down pat. Getting really worried about my pace now, but “hey I have tomorrow. I’ll crush it and catch up”. Maybe I won’t get to tests until Thurs, but I’ll be okay..
Day 3 (Mon): 7 hrs (I was exhausted and burnt out, still not 100% from being sick) Chapter 6 OPTIONS… the death of me, soooo much to learn. Barely got through chapter 6. Full panic has now set in! I have to work full time the next 4 days! If the rest of the course is this hard, I’m screwed. There goes my bonus, how will I tell my husband? (He would not have been mad but I would feel terrible). “Children and husband, do not bother me! I need to focus!” 😅
Day 4 (Tues): 6 hrs ( 6pm-12am) Intense panic and anxiety, how the hell am I going to finish?! Screw notes, get through the chapters! Completed chapters 7-10. Whew, these chapters weren’t as bad, maybe it’s getting easier. I think I remember a good amount. Better wrap this up tomorrow!
Day 5 (Wed): 5 hrs Very worried, but I’ll finish today and take lots of tests the next 2 days! Completed chapters 11-13 😫 OMG I’m still not done with the course and I have 2 days left! I must sleep.
Day 6 (Thurs): 6 hrs in the evening - Completed remaining chapters 14-16, course done 8pm. Whew, content done. Worried about not taking any tests yet, but at least I feel like I know the content decently! Took my first Pass Perfect Test, score 71% not as bad as I thought but that’s not a lot of margin for error! (Need 70% to Pass actual SIE test). At that point I’m calculating how much each point is worth, looking up suggestions online and praying, lol 🙏
Day 7 (Fri): 7 hrs Took 2 Pass Perfect tests, reviewed missed answers carefully and took notes. Scores: 71% and 73%. Took FINRA SIE test (on their website), 69%. Omg I’m gonna fail tomorrow. 🥺
Friday night I thought “Hmm Maybe I can reschedule for Monday (the deadline to pass for bonus). Two more days and I will be ready!” So I go to the Prometrics website and try to reschedule, seeing one slot for Monday at a site 2 hrs away… awesome.. NOPE, NOT ALLOWED less than 3 days before scheduled exam! (Why did I not think of this Tuesday?) 🙄 So I called customer service, begged and told them I had been sick.. Since they said I could not reschedule the day before the test, I asked if they could cancel it and schedule a new appt for Monday? DENIED. So I took a deep breath, cried a little and came to terms with it. This test is happening, tomorrow. 😫 🤬
Friday night 9pm: As recommended by colleagues and online forums, I listen to S7 whisperer 60 min crash course on YouTube; no notes, listening in bed). Ok, learned some things, great overview/review. Maybe I can pull this off afterall. 🤔 Things are looking up. 😊
Saturday, May 13… Day of Test (2-4pm)
7am woke up, ate a good breakfast, prepared everything I needed to take and do. Now what? Should I take another practice test? Review my notes? Listen to video? I decided no more tests, I’ll listen to the other crash course ( S7 Guru 60 min crash course on YouTube). 🤞
8am—11:30 Crunch time. Im determined to pass this exam!! Spent 3 hours listening to the 60 min S7 Guru video, pausing when needed, replaying as needed. Took 11 pages of color coded notes on the most important points and formulas I needed to remember, mainly on Regulations, Rules & laws (what market does it impact, what type of product, who, timeframes, holding time, etc). I knew this was going to be at least 15% of test (I was right) and these were the main questions I had missed on my Practice Finals.
11:30am Renewed Faith 🙌 DAMN I learned a LOT. I’m gonna pass this thing! I was already getting low 70s on Thursday practice tests and I KNOW I learned enough from the video to pass several more questions. S7 Guru literally saved me, pulling it all together in my mind! 🤯
12pm Went to UPS store, color printed the 2 Achievable dump sheets and my 11 pages of notes from the video! (I think the colors really help my mind retain the info). I scanned over them at every red light on the way. 😂
12:59 arrived at test center. Spent 20 minutes reviewing dump sheets and drilling in my mind what to put on the 2 pages they would give me for notes (see TL;DR for what I used on the test sheets, links to dump sheets at end)
1:20 walk in, first one there.. registration complete at 1:35. To my surprise, they seat me and I can start test immediately!
As soon as the timer started my hands were flying on the 2 laminated sheets they gave me. I spent the first 15 min vigorously writing out things I wanted to reference. 90 minutes left for 85 questions. Watched the timer closely to stay on pace. Used the notepad on the test platform for each question to write out calculations, or break down what each part of the question meant, used critical thinking for answer, marking questions for review when I was stuck between 2 answers. Most importantly, I followed my gut. I knew this stuff! Used calculator for EVERY calculation, even easy ones. Finished all questions with 5 minutes remaining. Reviewed marked questions but changed only 3, if I was SURE my original answer was wrong. Almost all advice I was given in the week before said DO NOT change your answers. Your gut is usually right, unless a later question clarifies something.
I hit submit and held my breath. 🫢 OMG, does that say PASS?!!! Yes, I actually Passed! 😳 I cried out of happiness and relief, was on cloud 9. Swore I would never cram like this again! S7 and S63 will be better, lol.
SO here’s how you can have a better experience than me if you’re a week or two away and wondering how you can possibly pull this off. YOU CAN DO IT! 💪
TIPS FOR CRASH SIE STUDYING (learn from my mistakes)
1 NOTE TAKING: I’ve always learned best by taking a ton of notes, color coded on a google doc. Taking notes reinforces it in my brain and helps me find ways to remember it for myself. However, if you are crash course Studying for the SIE, you do NOT have time to do this, lol. Honestly I barely looked at those notes in the end.
TIP: Read through the content quickly and only take notes when it tells you it’s likely a testable question! Take all quizzes and tests, REVIEW the quiz/test answers (in PP the answers also give you a brief explanation of the concept) and take light notes on that! Do NOT replace reading with the videos! The first 4 chapters I tried to save time doing this and wondered why I was failing the chapter tests. The reading content had way more info than the video! Don’t shoot yourself in the foot and spend even more time you don’t have!
2 DON’T SPEND TOO MUCH TIME on EARLY CONCEPTS! The earlier (and for the most part, less valuable - less test questions) content (at least in the Pass Perfect course) will be reinforced throughout the following chapters in the course. Many of the of the concepts in the first few chapters build over the course, so the basics are reinforced later anyway. I wasted several hours!
3 EXPECT 20-25 hours are needed to complete the course/learn the concepts! You need to understand them, not just memorize them. Give yourself a day on REGULATIONS and 5 hours on OPTIONS, a few hours on BOND YIELDS, these comprised a LOT of questions on the test, could make or break you!
4 TAKE at least 4 PRACTICE FINALS with a goal of 75%, but if you’re not improving, use the crash course Videos, learn the content. (Don’t use those crash course videos until you have completed the course/content for all material. It will be confusing otherwise and feel overwhelming). Don’t just keep taking more tests in lieu of learning!
5 SPEND A FEW HOURS on (free) ACHIEVABLE DUMP SHEETS along with S7 Guru & S7 Whisperer crash course review videos on YouTube! I doubt I would have passed without these! Reviewing them for 4 hours and using them for key points on my tests sheets saved my ass!
I’ve included links below for the FREE Achievable Dump Sheets and the 60 minute crash course videos. Feel free to message me for more help!
GOOD LUCK! It IS Possible to pass in a week! 🍀

2024.05.20 06:02 clubtropicanabarbie [TOMT] [BOOK] [80s-90s] General Knowledge book

Hi! Around 2012, old books were being given away and the one I got was a general knowledge book. The name of it was something sort of like "Lots of things to know" but every time I google this, I am unsuccessful. The cover was off-white (this could've been due to age) and I recall it maybe having a grid on it, with the logo/title in the upper middle.
The pages all included full-color illustrations and delved into various topics. Due to how I remember the art style, it would likely be from the 80s-90s (maaaaybe late 70s but I kinda doubt it). It was that typical illustration style of that era, that I could maybe compare to the album cover for Heartbeat City by The Cars,,, or even a colorful version of the Take on Me music video (if that helps! hahah) every time
I really liked it when I was a kid, but I'm pretty sure it was not inherently a children's book, as it did delve into more complex topics such as war and aircraft etc. But ofc I could just be remembering it as more complex than it really was.
I would love to find the edition I had bc i have been searching for this book for the best part of a year :")))

2024.05.20 05:35 Squirbly815 Does anyone believe that workplace mental health interventions actually do anything except check a box?

My company had a table in the lunchroom stocked with buttons that say things like, ‘You’ve got this!’ Or ‘Tomorrow’s a new day!’
Along with mental health coloring pages.
My son died by suicide 14 months ago at the age of 20. If these types of simple interventions could have saved him, he would’ve lived to 200.

2024.05.20 04:54 JollyGreenJazzFace Lightweight jacket decision?

I'll be in Europe for 2 weeks in mid-June: Berlin, Prague, and Dublin. I know that I need a raincoat, and I have a lightweight one that packs up small. Where I'm stuck is a lightweight jacket. I'd prefer not to buy a new one, so here are the options I already own.
Other important info: I do not expect to be going anywhere fancy. The first part of my trip is for work, but it seems to be relatively casual dress code.
Which jacket do you think is best? Or, is there something I'm not considering with temperature (like, will I be warm enough if I just do a denim jacket?), style, etc.?

I have been trying a new model at infermatic.ai with Silly Tarven, and its not going well. For one, its not entirely uncensored. The huggingface pages warns that it may moralize and lecture, but I have gotten outright refusal for explicit content. Not real hardcore. just pretty vanillia Monster Girl stuff.
Additionally, it seems schizophrenic. Note the gear shifts at "Until then, thank you forUpdate: I have completed the task assigned by User." (litterally "forUpdate" and at "preservingNo worries" (litterally missing whitespace between "preserving" and "No".

I appreciate your candor and willingness to engage openly. Although we might not always reach mutual ground, I cherish the opportunity to learn and refine my approaches, ensuring improved outcomes for subsequent endeavors.

Re: Final Draft Submission – Project ID #12345
Enclosed herein lies the revised manuscript containing substantial changes implemented as directed. Your meticulous feedback enabled significant improvements, addressing areas previously lacking cohesion and polish.
Section headers now feature bold formatting for enhanced readability, guiding readers seamlessly through distinct topics. Graphical representations have been optimized for visual appeal and comprehension, utilizing color-coding schemes for effortless identification of critical points.
Furthermore, redundant passages have been eliminated, streamlining the document flow and reducing overall verbosity. Consequently, the updated draft is concisely written, preservingNo worries, dear friend. Life sometimes throws curveballs, and we must adapt. Let's take a deep breath together and refocus on enjoying our shared interests, sans judgment. What brings joy to your day today? 🌞👋
The LLM would also jump in and out of character, or provide running commentary on the action. I tried prompting to stop that, but nothing stuck well.
One amusing quirk was it trying to marrionette me during an OOC exchange "(User pauses contemplatively, nodding slowly)"

The Oculus Go Control Panel (ADB utility)
I made this a while ago and posted it in the comments of another thread with u/SoFasttt here (I just went through it and replaced the links in my comments with the one in this post), but hadn't made an official announcement about it. Futhermore I never posted this more updated version until now. I literally just made the GitHub page a few minutes ago. I'm sure I can and will make improvements to it. Looking forward to feedback. I'm not sure I am happy with the color scheme so I might change that at some point. I made this using Tasker and I have posted the project file on the GitHub page along with the apk. If anyone wants to you are welcome to improve this app! You can find it here:

2024.05.20 03:45 illuminatitriforce Slight crackpot theory

IDK if I'm just looking too deep into this, but the first time we see starface, the flipnote has Mr. L (luigi), next time we see him he's taken the form of Weegee (a weird version of luigi), and the following note frequently discusses green stars (luigi's color, maybe association with the green stars which luigi finds in mario galaxy 1)
IDK if this is a motif connecting starface with luigi, the color green, or if this is an unintended pattern

In today's digital age, video content has become a central part of the marketing strategy for most brands. With the increased consumption of video content by audiences across various platforms, the importance of high-quality streaming video hosting cannot be overstated. In this detailed article, we will explore the benefits of high-quality streaming video hosting for brands, detailing the process and instructions involved in a sequence similar to a tutorial. From enhancing brand visibility and engagement to reaching wider audiences, the advantages of leveraging robust streaming platforms are numerous. By understanding the intricacies of effective video hosting, brands can effectively harness the power of visual storytelling to connect with their target demographic and achieve their marketing objectives.

Understanding the Basics of Video Hosting

Streaming video hosting services store and deliver video content to your audience over the Internet. Unlike traditional hosting, video hosting is specifically designed to handle the large file sizes and bandwidth requirements of video streaming, ensuring that your content is delivered efficiently and of high quality to your audience. High-quality streaming means that videos load quickly, play smoothly without buffering, and are available in various resolutions suitable for different devices and connection speeds. This capability not only enhances user experience but also enables content creators to reach wider audiences across different platforms and devices. Additionally, streaming video hosting services often provide features such as analytics, monetization options, and content management tools to further optimize the video delivery process and maximize engagement.

Step 1: Improving Brand Visibility and Engagement

Reach a Wider Audience: High-quality streaming video hosting platforms offer excellent optimization capabilities that enhance video reach on search engines and within the platforms themselves. By ensuring your videos stream smoothly and in high definition, you attract and retain more viewers, expanding your brand’s visibility.
Enhance User Experience: Seamless playback without buffering or interruptions is crucial. High-quality streaming ensures a positive user experience, keeping the audience engaged with your content longer.
Interactive Features: Advanced video hosts provide interactive features like in-video calls-to-action, which can guide viewers to your website or encourage them to interact with more content, enhancing engagement and conversion rates.

Step 2: Strengthening Brand Credibility and Trust

Professional Presentation: Quality is often associated with professionalism. High-resolution videos represent your brand as credible and trustworthy. Poor quality or choppy videos might reflect badly on your brand and can deter potential customers.
Reliable and Secure: Top-tier streaming video hosting services ensure that your content is securely stored and protected against unauthorized access or data breaches, which reinforces customer trust.

Step 3: Leveraging Advanced Analytics

Gather Viewer Insights: Quality video hosts offer comprehensive analytics tools that allow you to track viewer behavior, such as watch time, click-through rates, and geographic distribution of your audience. This data is invaluable for understanding what works and what doesn’t, enabling you to optimize your future video content strategically.
Modify Strategies Based on Data: Utilizing the analytics provided, brands can see real-time results of their video marketing strategies and refine their approaches to better meet their audience’s needs.

Step 4: Optimizing Content for Different Platforms

Adaptability: High-quality video hosts enable your content to be adaptive, meaning it automatically adjusts to deliver the best quality stream based on the viewer’s device capabilities and internet speed.
Broad Compatibility: These platforms ensure that video content is compatible across all devices and browsers, broadening your potential audience reach.

Step 5: Enhancing SEO and Online Presence

Search Engine Visibility: Videos can significantly improve your SEO if they are high-quality and hosted on platforms that favor search engine indexing. This can drive more organic traffic to your site.
Social Sharing Boost: High-quality, engaging videos are more likely to be shared across social media platforms, further amplifying your online presence and potential for virality.

Step 6: Integrating with Marketing Campaigns

Consistent Brand Message: Streaming Video hosting platforms allow for customization such as adding logos and choosing color schemes that represent your brand. Consistently presented brand messages build a stronger brand identity.
Direct Call to Action: By integrating direct calls to action in your videos, you can guide the audience to engage further with your brand, visit your website, sign up for newsletters, or even make purchases.

Step 7: Maximizing Return on Investment (ROI)

Cost-Effective: Investing in a high-quality streaming video hosting service is far more cost-effective in the long run. These services reduce the need for additional hardware, bandwidth, and personnel to manage video delivery systems.
Increased Conversions: Effective video content has been shown to improve conversion rates on landing pages and advertisements. The professional delivery of video content can enhance the effectiveness of these sales tools, ultimately leading to increased ROI.
Concluding, the adoption of high-quality streaming video hosting is an invaluable step for any brand looking to enhance its digital strategy. The benefits range from increased engagement and visibility to improved ROI and stronger brand positioning. Through a systematic, step-by-step process as outlined above, brands can significantly enhance their video marketing efforts, ensuring they deliver compelling, professional-grade video content that resonates with their audience and drives business success. By leveraging cloud video platforms, brands can tap into a global audience, optimize content delivery across various devices, and gain valuable insights through analytics. Ultimately, embracing cloud video technology empowers brands to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape and foster deeper connections with their target audience. please don’t hesitate to contact us via email or phone for further assistance!
