2024.06.01 13:33 taedaddyfordapub Full timers..

do you feel the need to be perfect everyday or feel like there's an underlying pressure to now pursue management? i already feel like i went through hell to get full time, i already see how competitive it is for the contenders at my store to get CSTL and ADM in deli, do i really want to put myself through that level of stress everyday until i finally get promoted? i feel like i have what it takes to be a great CSTL and so does my coworkers but the pay is atrocious for the amount of workload you're expected to complete for not only your department but multiple others.
i know FT is traditionally given to those who earn it, but not only that, but to give management material associates the foundation to pursuing management. i feel like i don't want to look at other jobs right now. yes, my job is stressful but it's manageable and i actually like and respect my manager. i got a good raise for FT and once this yearly raise in august kicks in, i'll be making slightly more decent money.
for right now, i want to learn and grow in this role full time and then when or if that opportunity presents itself, maybe then when i feel absolutely ready, i'll go for it. i'm thinking maybe 6 months to a year of FT before going after anything.
do you guys see yourselves remaining full time in your perspective positions for a bit or do you think you're cut out personally for management?

2024.06.01 13:16 OldMeThrowaway_15 I haven’t told my friends I attempted suicide last month

And I don’t think I ever will.
Only three people know: my parents, who found me and took me to hospital, and my sister who was away at the time.
I can’t find the words to tell my friends what happened. They know I’ve been down, but they don’t know the true extent of it. The multiple sexual assaults that started when I was eleven- the most recent of which happened in December last year, just two days after Christmas. The abusive relationship I’m still grieving. How moving home at 23 ruined my life and isolated me, leaving me feeling like a teenager again: lonely, socially inept, ugly, jealous, a FAILURE. How I’m a year clean from cocaine but I miss it every single fucking day and I drink to cope instead, getting blackout in my room and waking up covered in my own vomit. The skipped period from the stress of everything.
I have lost everything I had going for me. My sparkle, if you will. I don’t feel like I’ll ever have fun again. My life is over. I peaked at 21 and it wasn’t even a good peak: I was a drug-addled bitch with an abusive boyfriend who slept with her friends on the side and strangled her when she asked for hugs.
I’ve seen a psychiatrist. I’ve been referred to a group to help manage my emotions. But I don’t think I’ll ever be able to tell my friends just how bad it’s been. I can’t find the words and I don’t think they’d give a shit anyways. If anything, it might give them the perfect excuse to cut me off.

2024.06.01 13:09 LEX_Reception 7 Ways a Legal Phone Answering Service Can Benefit Your Firm

Law firms are continually seeking ways to enhance efficiency and client experience. We often think of a positive client experience as a well-delivered service, so it’s no surprise that many firms invest in systems that help with client and case management. However, have you considered how phone calls can affect your firm’s efficiency and client satisfaction?
It’s easy to overlook, but who is answering the phone and how they deliver the service plays a significant part in your firm’s ability to retain clients and improve your workflow. One solution is to introduce a legal answering service to your firm, and in this article, we dive into the benefits it can have for your firm.

What is a legal phone answering service?

A phone answering service for lawyers functions as a round-the-clock virtual receptionist. You no longer need to worry about missing calls after hours, when team members are out of the office, or on weekends or holidays. A legal phone answering service ensures that no call goes unanswered, but some providers also go beyond answering calls. Phone answering services can also assist with scheduling appointments, lead qualification, and providing general support to clients. Find out more about what is a legal phone answering service here.

Benefits of legal phone answering service

While there are numerous advantages to having a legal phone answering service for your law firm, we focus on our top 7 reasons – discussing each one in detail with key takeaways describing how it can positively impact your law firm’s operations.
You can be available for clients 24/7/365
A legal phone answering service ensures your firm is accessible around the clock. Clients often call after hours with urgent legal queries, but if the call goes unanswered, this can lead to client frustration and lost business for your firm. By introducing a legal phone answering service, your firm can eliminate this issue by providing help when you’re not around. 24/7 availability gives clients a sense of comfort knowing they can always reach out and helps to reaffirm that your firm is dependable.
Key takeaways
Improve overall client satisfaction
Prompt responses and effective communication are the foundations of client satisfaction. With more than half of consumers saying they would switch to a competitor after only one bad experience with a company – client satisfaction must be considered from the outset [Zendesk, 2023].
A legal phone answering service ensures that every call is answered professionally. This, in turn, will work to reduce wait times and improve the overall client experience. If your clients are getting a quality level of service each and every time they communicate with you, your firm is also likely to benefit from positive word-of-mouth referrals.
Key takeaways
Demonstrate professionalism
Virtual receptionists are trained professionals. LEX Reception is powered by real people and each receptionist handles calls with the etiquette and knowledge expected in a legal receptionist role. First impressions matter, and a competent answering service helps to build your reputation from the very first interaction.
Key takeaways
Provide multilingual support
In an increasingly globalized world, law firms often deal with clients who speak various languages. Multilingual support in a phone answering service allows your firm to communicate effectively with a diverse client base and expand your reach. Language barriers can be a significant obstacle when it comes to legal services which can leave many potential clients feeling isolated. Misunderstandings can put people through an emotionally difficult experience during what may already be a stressful time. By having a phone answering service like LEX Reception that offers bilingual support in English and Spanish, your law firm can ensure that no client is turned away due to language constraints.
Key takeaways
Manage appointments efficiently
Managing appointments can be a time-consuming task for busy lawyers. A legal phone answering service streamlines this process by scheduling, confirming, and reminding clients of their upcoming appointments. For lawyers, missed appointments can lead to inefficiencies and lost revenue. A legal phone answering service takes over the task of managing appointments, reducing the likelihood of no-shows through efficient scheduling and reminders. This not only improves your operations but also maximizes your billable hours.
Key takeaways
Increase client retention
Effective communication and reliable support contribute significantly to client retention. By ensuring that client inquiries and concerns are addressed promptly, a phone answering service can help strengthen client relationships and encourage long-term loyalty.
A focus on client retention through a quality service is not only important for the client, but for your firm’s growth. In fact, it was reported that a 5% improvement in client retention could increase profitability by 25% [Forrester, 2023]. If you consistently deliver an excellent experience for your clients with the help of a dedicated phone answering service, your retention rates will improve.
Key takeaways
Customizable services
Every law firm has unique needs and client onboarding procedures and, as such, legal phone answering services focus on how best to align with these needs. From personalizing your call scripts to integrating with your existing operational tools, you can make a legal phone answering service like LEX work harder for your firm. This flexibility means that the service can evolve along with your firm, providing consistent support that is in line with your growing requirements.

2024.06.01 12:56 Successful-Swim-8898 Personalised IVF Support through Acupuncture

In the journey towards parenthood, many couples face the challenging path of IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation). While IVF technology has advanced significantly, the process can be physically and emotionally demanding. This is where personalised IVF support through acupuncture steps in, offering a holistic and complementary approach to enhance fertility and increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.
Understanding IVF and Acupuncture
IVF involves several stages, including hormone treatments, egg retrieval, fertilisation, and embryo transfer. Each step is crucial and can be stressful, impacting the body’s natural balance. Acupuncture, an ancient practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), involves inserting fine needles into specific points on the body to promote healing and well-being. When integrated with IVF, acupuncture can help address various challenges and improve overall reproductive health.
The Benefits of Acupuncture in IVF
  1. Improving Blood Flow: Acupuncture has been shown to enhance blood circulation to the uterus and ovaries. Better blood flow means a richer supply of oxygen and nutrients to these vital organs, creating a more conducive environment for embryo implantation and growth.
  2. Reducing Stress and Anxiety: The IVF process can be emotionally taxing. Acupuncture helps in reducing stress by regulating the body's stress hormones and promoting relaxation. A calmer state of mind can positively impact the hormonal balance, which is crucial for fertility.
  3. Regulating Hormones: Hormonal imbalances can hinder the IVF process. Acupuncture supports the endocrine system, helping to stabilise hormone levels, which is vital for ovulation, implantation, and sustaining a pregnancy.
  4. Enhancing Ovarian Function: Regular acupuncture sessions can improve ovarian function, potentially increasing the quality and quantity of eggs retrieved during IVF.
  5. Supporting Overall Health: Acupuncture addresses the body as a whole, improving overall health and well-being. This holistic approach ensures that all body systems function optimally, supporting reproductive health.

2024.06.01 12:55 Vast_Hat_8269 Dental Care for Diabetics: Special Considerations and Tips

Dentist in Kalyani Nagar

Maintaining good dental hygiene is crucial for everyone, but for individuals with diabetes, it is even more vital. Diabetes not only affects your overall health but also has a significant impact on your oral health.
Poor blood sugar control can lead to various dental problems, making it essential for diabetics to take extra care of their teeth and gums. Dentist in kalyani nagar
In this blog, we will discuss the special considerations and tips for dental care that every diabetic should know.

The Connection Between Diabetes and Oral Health

Diabetes can disturb oral health in various ways:
  1. Gum Disease: High blood sugar levels can lead to an increased risk of gum disease (periodontitis). This condition causes inflammation and infection in the gums and bones that support the teeth, potentially leading to tooth loss if not managed properly. Dentist in kalyani nagar
  2. Dry Mouth: Diabetes can reduce saliva flow, leading to dry mouth (xerostomia). Saliva is crucial for neutralizing acids produced by bacteria and for washing away food particles, so a lack of it can increase the risk of cavities and infections.
  3. Thrush: Diabetics are more susceptible to fungal infections like thrush, which can cause white patches in the mouth and tongue, leading to discomfort and difficulty swallowing. Dentist in kalyani nagar
  4. Delayed Healing: High blood sugar levels can impair the body’s ability to heal itself. This means that cuts, sores, or infections in the mouth may take longer to heal, increasing the risk of complications.
Understanding these connections highlights the importance of diligent dental care for diabetics. Here are some special considerations and tips to help manage your oral health effectively. Dentist in kalyani nagar

Special Considerations for Diabetic Dental Care

  1. Monitor Blood Sugar Levels
Keeping your blood sugar levels under control is the first step in preventing oral health problems. Consistently high blood sugar can weaken the body’s ability to fight infections, including those in the mouth. Regularly monitor your blood sugar levels and follow your doctor’s advice to keep them within the target range.
  1. Regular Dental Check-ups
Frequent dental visits are essential for early detection and management of potential issues. Diabetics should see their dentist at least twice a year for specialized cleanings and checkups. Inform your dentist about your diabetes so they can provide the best care tailored to your needs. Dentist in kalyani nagar
  1. Comprehensive Oral Hygiene Routine
Adopting a thorough oral hygiene routine is crucial for preventing dental problems. Brush your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and floss daily to remove plaque and food particles from between the teeth and under the gums. Consider using an antibacterial mouthwash to reduce the risk of gum disease.
  1. Look Out for Symptoms
Be vigilant about any changes or symptoms in your mouth. Mutual symptoms of gum disease include red, swollen, or bleeding gums, persistent bad breath, and loose teeth. If you notice any of these symptoms, schedule an appointment with your dentist immediately. Dentist in kalyani nagar
  1. Manage Dry Mouth
If you experience dry mouth, there are several steps you can take to alleviate the discomfort and reduce the risk of dental problems:
  1. Quit Smoking
Smoking is harmful to everyone’s oral health, but it’s especially dangerous for diabetics. It increases the risk of gum disease, dry mouth, and oral cancer. Quitting smoking can meaningfully improve your oral and overall health.

Tips for Maintaining Optimal Oral Health

  1. Choose the Right Dental Products
Select dental care products that cater to your specific needs. For example, toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth can help if you experience discomfort. Electric toothbrushes can be more effective at eliminating plaque than manual toothbrushes. Fluoride rinses can strengthen your teeth and help prevent decay.
  1. Maintain a Balanced Diet
A healthy diet plays a crucial role in managing diabetes and maintaining oral health. Limit your intake of sugary and acidic foods, which can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Instead, focus on a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Dentist in kalyani nagar
  1. Hydration
Staying hydrated is essential for overall health and helps combat dry mouth. Drink water regularly and avoid sugary drinks, which can increase the risk of cavities.
  1. Stress Management
Stress can negatively impact both diabetes and oral health. High-stress levels can lead to poor blood sugar control and unhealthy habits like neglecting oral hygiene. Practice stress management techniques such as regular exercise, meditation, and adequate sleep. Dentist in kalyani nagar
  1. Medication Management
Some medications for diabetes can have side effects that affect oral health. For example, certain drugs may cause dry mouth. Discuss with your doctor or dentist about managing these side effects effectively. They may recommend saliva substitutes or other treatments to help.
  1. Educate Yourself
Stay informed about the latest research and recommendations for diabetes management and oral health. Knowledge is a powerful tool in preventing and managing complications. Attend diabetes education programs and read reliable sources to keep yourself updated. Dentist in kalyani nagar

Conclusion

For diabetics, maintaining good oral health requires a combination of diligent self-care and professional guidance. By understanding the connection between diabetes and dental health and implementing these special considerations and tips, you can reduce the risk of complications and enjoy a healthy mouth and body.
Remember, managing your diabetes effectively and taking proactive steps toward oral hygiene can go a long way in ensuring your overall well-being. Dentist in Kalyani nagar
Regular dental visits at the best dentist in Pune, a comprehensive oral hygiene routine, and a healthy lifestyle are the pillars of excellent dental care for diabetics. Take charge of your oral health today and experience the benefits of a confident smile and a healthier life.

2024.06.01 12:55 Ok_Raspberry6680 Unlawful detainer filed for rent that has been paid? (CA)

Hi all! First time poster here hoping to get some advice for a suddenly super stressful situation. First of all, my friend and I are both on the lease, but I pay the rent. I am out of the country for work so everything online is me and everything at location is my friend.
Early May we received a 3 day notice to pay or quit on our door listing out 3 months of supposedly unpaid rent (Mar-May 2024). The amounts listed for each month were weird and didn’t reflect what we actually pay. MaApr had the base rent amount, but didn’t include the pet fee I pay for my dog and May was listed at about $200 more than usual.
I immediately sent an email to our property manager detailing the correct amounts, that I have paid those months on time, and attached screenshots of my bank statements. Rent is paid through a website so the name of the site is listed on the statement. I offered to send more proof to clarify, but the screenshots were just the quickest way to get the ball rolling. She never responded and was unreachable by phone or in the office.
I’ll admit, my friend and I are both a bit naive as it’s our first time renting and because I’m away and communication is tricky I didn’t know the notice said we had 3 days. Had I did, I would’ve done more to fix it at the time. A couple days after the notice my friend got a call from someone (not the manager) asking if we wanted to renew our lease that ends in September. He told them we would discuss, but we kind of assumed that meant everything was fine.
Fast forward to last week my friend is handed an Unlawful Detainer suit and complaint with a copy of the original notice attached as ‘Exhibit A.’ I don’t know if this was the right move legally, but I emailed the manager again to which she responded saying that they “did receive payments for those months.” I then asked her if the suit would be dropped. She responded with “I’m so sorry but we have already sent your file to the attorneys there is nothing we can do.”
It seems we’re going to have to go to court anyway? I’m working on filing the answer which is due on Monday. Is there a chance that they could still drop the suit or is it actually too late? Like if I tried to get in contact with the management company or the attorneys? I have my bank statements and email receipts from each month, but is that enough? It would also be very difficult for me to fly home for court and I’m worried for my friend so I wish it could be avoided.
Thank you in advance!!

2024.06.01 12:54 madssaysugh Where all of the “good” nannies have gone. My Roman Empire.

TLDR: Nannying is a very hard job. There would probably be a lot more nannies who work as hard as one needs to do this job well if the pay matched the value and difficulty of the work.
I’ve been pretty active in this sub lately because I’ve been feeling unhappy at my job and it helps to have a community. I wrote this a while ago and have been nervous to post it but I think it’s important. I saw a post in nannyemployers asking where all of the “good” nannies have gone and this was the response I was writing until I realised the replies were to be from NP only.. I would post in the nanny employers sub if I weren’t terrified of the response. I know I’m singing to the choir here and I know saying it out loud doesn’t change much. But I am so, so angry, so imma just send it.
As a nanny who has two college degrees, practices Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and RIE, and as someone who has always loved and wanted to work with kids, there simply is not enough money in this career path to stick to it. I personally simply cannot rationalise doing the amount of physical and emotional work that is required for me to do this job as well as I want to for the typical pay, even though I absolutely love it.
For my background, experience, and approach, I am in a severely underpaid position (even when disregarding my qualifications it would still be severely underpaid.) Because of my personal and financial situation at the time of my job search, I did not have the luxury to wait for a unicorn family to offer me the salary I was looking for. I found a family that was a good fit and accepted the position even though I felt it was very much underpaid. I am now in a position where I am continuously battling wanting to work as hard as I can for these kids and this family, and realising I can’t break my back for them while being this underpaid (I mean I literally threw my back out during this job). I’m not someone who breaks a commitment easily but I guess I could move from family to family, waiting to find one who is able to financially respect the value of this work, or I could stick it out and get $2/hr raises every year, but I can’t wait 10 years to finally get close to being paid what I know a proper nanny is worth. Yes there certainly are some nanny employers who properly respect this work and are able to financially meet it’s value, but in my experience they are few and far between. I have found that the overwhelming majority of nannies are severely underpaid and overworked.
Nannies are asked to have flexible schedules, work long hours, take on a laundry list of responsibilities, develop personal emotional relationships with children that aren’t theirs while keeping a professional distance, pay for and organise their own continued training, be emotionally and socially engaged with children all day long, and more. But above all, the most important aspect of nannying is managing our stress is such a way that allows us to stay in an executive state of functioning all day every single day. People deeply underestimate and undervalue the amount of hard and constant work it takes to keep oneself in an executive state of functioning day in and day out, especially in a high stress position where you are helping other people regulate their bodies all day on top of yours, AND are constantly sick and tired and being pushed and tested. I think that this ability is what makes the difference in a “good” nanny and is often the most overlooked, misunderstood, and undervalued aspect of the job responsibilities.
I want to be a good nanny, it’s my dream job to be the best nanny there is, and I used to think that I could accept being in an undervalued role because “it takes a village” and I wanted to do my part and this was my passion. But it doesn’t feel good to be undervalued financially and socially, in fact it feels really really bad, and this is why I will no longer be pursuing a career as a nanny. Even if I found my unicorn position, it wouldn’t change the fact that the overwhelming majority of my nanny peers are still underpaid and undervalued, and that doesn’t feel good. It makes me want to leave, and I think all of the other underpaid nannies should leave too. (We need a union or something, is this a thing?)
The market is oversaturated and undervalued. Not everyone needs a nanny now that quarantine is over (a full-time nanny, not babysitter or after school care). I have both worked at a preschool and as a nanny and I have found that a setting with multiple children of similar age is far better developmentally for a child than spending most of their time with a single adult and a sibling or two, even for young babies. I think a healthy mix of a daycare setting and family time at home is probably best but can be the most difficult to achieve with the current work culture. This is no one’s fault, the overworking culture is a burden of late stage capitalism that we all face. However, it is the burden of the parents to solve their work/life balance. This is a very big part of what one signs up for when becoming a parent. It is not the burden of the nanny to work more for less or the children to miss being with their parents (I’d say two doctor NP are pretty much the only ones who’d get a pass here).
It’s no one person’s fault that nannies are financially undervalued, the value of personal childcare and domestic work has a long saturated history fraught with misogyny and racism. Have you compared the average wage of a plumber (male dominated domestic work) to that of a nanny (female dominated domestic work)? And don’t tell me plumbing requires more training or is harder than nannying, I assure you they are of comparable difficulty especially considering there’s no step by step instructions on YouTube for nannying. (And if you do consider plumbing to be that much hard than nannying, what do you think gives you that perception? I mean as a parent, one should know that nannying absolutely is not just playing with kids all day, even if that’s all you ask your nanny to do. What subconscious bias could be giving you the perception that bringing up children is less difficult and of less value than screwing pipes together? Have you taken a race or gender studies class? Have you seen The Help? Don’t answer, just think.)
Plumbers make average $28/hr in the states, mechanics $26, for nannies it’s $20 (and that’s being generous). That’s a ¢70 on the dollar comparison. It is time we all realise that nannying is an underpaid and undervalued role and work to change that. If the wage being offered across the board better matched the value of the work, I think one would find a lot more serious nannies and a lot more current nannies taking the job more seriously.
I didn’t get it at first, why so many nannies at the park seemed so burnt out and disinterested in the kids. Oh boy do I get it now. I want nothing more than to do my best in this role, but in the past few months after nearly being stiffed by NP, not receiving a bonus from them when I really thought I would, and overall realising I am being taken advantage of and am a human mine to them, I have realised that I can no longer put my all into this job for my own health and sanity. Being properly compensated is the primary motivating aspect of all work especially in the society we are a part of. After loosing my sense of respect from NP, I’ve lost most of the non-financial motivation I started out with and am left with what little motivation my petite pay check gives me, and the kids can tell.
Since my fallout with NP, I have pulled back emotionally from the kids. I’m not mean and I am still doing every responsibility in my contract to the letter (and then some still), but I am no longer as emotionally available to them as I was. I am shorter and more curt with them, I don’t take as much time with them to sit and talk about every feeling they have, and I’m not working as hard to help them break the bad habits NP give them that NP specifically ask me to break (one example - NP want NK to walk everywhere with me but then always use the stroller with NP and every time we go out it’s a fight to use the stroller or not. Guess who’s been using the stroller far more often lately). Anyway, the past week my NK 3f has been quietly crying before her nap and I’m sure it’s because she’s felt me pull away from her. It’s breaking my heart and I’ve been trying to give her extra cuddles, but I have to protect myself first now. This is a job and these aren’t my kids and I can no longer rationalise putting them first emotionally especially considering I am burnt TF out, torn down, and left feeling used up and tossed aside without any recognition or proper thanks from NP.
I don’t know what the perfect number is, the number I would say many NP would probably think is too high, and maybe they’re not looking for a nanny who works as hard as I and others do. But I can tell you that $17/hr before taxes in a VHCOL area does not even come close to close. I think we can all easily recognise that the financial value of this job needs to better match the value of the work, in general and across the board. We’re talking about the people caring for and raising the future generations here, I mean how is this not the most coveted role in our society?
This is my Roman Empire and I will die on this hill every. single. time.

2024.06.01 12:52 Available-Sound1380 First time “outside” (ie travel) post-treatment

Hey y’all.
Today is my first time “outside” since treatment; awaiting a 5.5 hour flight to the other side of the country for vacation. I’m excited, but it’s a bit weird not being in a controlled environment world that is hospital world. I’ll be staying with a friend who lives there, which is comforting, but flying in solo.
I have a book and downloaded some podcasts, any other ideas regarding how to calm myself? I didn’t sleep well last night so it would be nice to just fall asleep on that plane, I tend to have sleeping issues though.
Trying to keep my anxiety down. I have water, NO Alcohol will be had, and prescription Ativan from my psychiatrist (I’ve never taken it though, so idk my reaction to it…)
My mind has been ok but stressed; I don’t like my job because of management and low pay. Yesterday I talked to a resume writer and popped down over $1000 for full resume services… today I’m like “why did I do that” I think of just tired of being tired and feeling mentally or physically ill. Cancer treatment has drained my bank account and I’m desperate for a better job and quality of life.
Tamoxifen sits in my bag; I’m delayed by about a week in starting it and if I wait until next week, it’s a two week delay in taking it. Wwyd, start up on vacation knowing you don’t know how your body will react and you have a flight home to get through, or take it after vacation?
I’m not even telling most friends I’m going on vacation. Some of them have been shit through treatment. Advice? Camaraderie?

2024.06.01 12:51 wander__well No Longer Chronic After Treating Medication Adaption Headaches AMA

Over a year ago, I was going through a particularly stressful time and went to my neurologist concerned that I was possibly having Medication Adaption Headaches (MAH aka Medication Overuse Headaches aka Rebound Headaches) or would develop them.
I was having a migraine or headache almost daily. I had been cycling through pain meds to avoid using too much of the same thing and too many triptans mistakenly thinking that this would keep me safe.
My neurologist didn't take any time to discuss why I thought I might be having MAH or what should be done if I was already having them. He did give me the prescription for Aimovig that I asked for, but also a recommendation and prescription for Panadol migraine (same as Excedrin migraine) which I had never taken before. The prescription wasn’t needed to get the Panadol migraine, but it was needed to have it reimbursed by my insurance. I thought because it is OTC in the US (which is where I'm from) that it would be better (again mistakenly) than taking so many triptans.
The aimovig was like putting a bandaid on a gash that needed stitches. I made it another year before I had an absolutely horrible flare-up about 60 days ago that led me to do my own research because my neurologist had failed me horribly and I decided it was most definitely MAH and I needed to detox.
The Detox
I quit taking all pain OTC pain meds and triptans for 60 days (as is recommended in most treatment guides). It took me roughly 9 days to have a noticeable drop in my migraines back to episodic. My migraines have lessened in severity and length over the last 60 days. Though the first week or so was the most challenging to get through, I also had hormonal migraines that were tough. The few other non-hormonal migraines I had later in the 60 days, I was able to clearly identify triggers for. This hadn’t been the case for me in the past. I've also now been able to abort a hormonal migraine with other methods listed here.
Other Options for Pain Relief
(for any meds or supplements always consult your doctor)
Ginger is a great natural painkiller. There is some BS study that says it is as effective as sumatriptan, it most definitely isn't and I'm not going to try to sell it as that, but I would say it is probably as effective as an NSAID. Unfortunately, I’m unable to get GCRP inhibitors where I am so I didn’t have other migraine abortive options, just this.
Benadryl (note: this is the brand name in US & CA, it’s different in Europe) helps me with migraine pain during an attack (sometimes even helps avoid an attack).
A TENS unit was very helpful with migraine pain, but also with cramps during my 60 day detox and I’ll definitely continue using it going forward.
Migraine Cap was especially helpful after the migraine to help with the residual soreness.
Migraine Relief Nasal Inhaler, hot showers, decongestant meds, and decongestant nasal spray* help me because nasal congestion is a major symptom for me. When the congestion is worse, the pain is worse. If I can relieve some congestion, I can also relieve some pain. So I use these as needed depending on the severity of the congestion.
*It is important to note that decongestant nasal sprays can cause rebound congestion if used frequently, follow dosage and warnings on the label.
Myofascial Release & dry needling - this isn’t so much for migraine pain, but it helps me manage back and neck pain that contributes to my migraines and helps me with pain management overall.
The Pain Relief Options That I Wish I Could Have Used or Tried
Balms and patches that you put on your forehead- personally my skin is too sensitive for it, I have tried in the past and it just makes my skin burn (but so does most sunscreen when applied to my face). I’m mentioning these because I think they are a great option for some people and as I was looking through this sub for more ideas of what I could use, they are something that I saw repeatedly that I wish my skin would allow me to use.
Celafy, Nerivio, and Relivion all looked like interesting devices, but sadly aren’t available where I am.
Heated eye massager also looked very appealing and should have been available, but the wrong item was delivered when I tried ordering it and I didn’t feel like trying my luck again. I will definitely get one when I go to the US.
GCRP-inhibitors - these aren’t available where I am so I didn’t have the option to use these as abortives while detoxing from pain meds. I definitely would like the option to be able to use these as abortives for migraines. One study did note they could cause MAH (this is listed below and linked) but there's no good research regarding this as they are so new. I just feel obligated to mention this.
About MAH
Please educate yourself. I have included links to sources. Consult your doctor if you think you might have MAH and advocate for treatment.
1 You have to add up your pain med use!!!
2 OTC Pain Meds+ Triptans + Rx Pain Meds* = 10 Days Maximum Per Month
*Opioids and butalbital may lead to MAH in about 5 days
3 Approximately 50% of patients with chronic migraine have MAH that may revert to episodic headache after drug withdrawal.
Chronic migraine is classified as 15 or more headache days w/ 8 migraine days a month.
Episodic Migraine is classified as 14 or fewer headache and migraine days a month.
4 The name for MAH changed a few times and the one I chose to use is focused on the mechanism that causes the condition rather than the name that sounds like it is blaming the patient (Medication Overuse Headaches). Here’s an article regarding the name dispute.
5 One article even listed GCRP inhibitors as possibly contributing to MAH. But as these medications are new, the research isn't there yet to say if they really do contribute. I just had found it surprising to see and felt obligated to note it.
6 Risk Factors
8 Withdrawal treatment does not only reduce the headache attacks, but also improves responsiveness to acute or prophylactic drugs. Withdrawal symptoms normally last between 2 to 10 days, and do not persist longer than 4 weeks.
Going Forward
I have a number of MAH risk factors including migraines, other chronic pain, anxiety, family history of substance-related disorders, being less physical activity (especially during the time that the stressful situation was happening), and cutaneous allodynia. Had I known about all of these risk factors and that alternating meds would not protect me from MAH, I would have done things very differently. I’ll have to be very careful to not develop MAH again, and actually am thinking of extending my detox because of my risk factors and some concerning statistics regarding allodynia in particular. For now I'm going to try to continue managing my pain with other methods while I can comfortably. Actually just last night I had a hormonal migraine that I managed to abort with a combination of things I listed here that just 2 months ago it would have been at least a level 4 with triptans.
When I do start using pain meds again, I’ll definitely be tracking meds more carefully and adhering to a strict 10 day max per month for OTCs plus triptans. I’ve made an annual tracker that you can print with the maximum days noted for reference.
To the Mods - I’ve noticed many posts with discussion related to MAH being removed. I’ve instructed others to consult their doctor thereby trying to adhere to the sub rules, please let me know if there is something else that might need to be adjusted in order to adhere to the rules.

2024.06.01 12:43 zapzanagan First sudden bout of insomnia

Hi all,
I am a 26 year old male btw. Prior to this bout of insomnia thats been affecting me the past 2 weeks, I am someone who slept 7-8 hours a night regularly, and was out relatively quickly when attempting to sleep. There have been occasions where I couldn't get to sleep in the past, but they would be incredibly infrequent and only last 1 night. I'm someone who fortunately hasn't had to put much effort into my bed time routine, although I have always been quite a healthy person, and also meditate frequently.
That is, until now. I had a couple infrequent nights of sleep back to back, possibly due to stressors in my life. I went through a breakup a month back, and I have a lot on at work. This breakup could be a potential root cause, however I feel like I've processed the pain quite well and the first 2 weeks I didn't really struggle much when getting to sleep. I truly believe I've had 5x the amount of anxiety and stress from external events than I do now and I didn't have sleep issues then.
Despite working on a thorough wind down routine, I get to the point of exhaustion where I feel I am ready to drift off. I do feel a slight sense of dread now at the thought of going to bed, but I believe that I get myself in the mindset where I am pretty clear headed, and trying to avoid thoughts or cares about not sleeping that night. Yet after 10 minutes of attempting to sleep, it's like my sympathetic nervous system activates, my heart starts beating faster, I feel a pit in my stomach, I heat up. Then I'll be awake until about 5-6am, despite waking up at 8am every day for the past 2 weeks (I've been attempting the CBT-I stuff). I've tried melatonin, and I think this helps with sleep timing a bit as I managed to push back the window in which I get sleepy at least, but it doesn't seem like the solution, only an aid. I've also tried to meditate whilest going through this feeling to see if I could rationalise it, and understand it better, or whether there is something external causing this state of panick. But nothing seems rational. My thoughts are that I've somehow contracted some sort of dysautonomia or other illness that is attacking my nervous system. Once I do actually fall asleep the first time, I rarely wake up again, and in the morning I am shattered, as if I can sleep longer - I think this is potentially a good sign, however I know that if I indulge in sleeping in during the day then I won't sleep the entire next night (also work!)
I am really scared of the fact that I've been averaging 3 hours sleep for the past 2 weeks, as I've never been nearly so sleep deprived. I know that sleep deprivation is dangerous, and I'm scared of this spiraling into other health complications. I'm considering trying ant anxiety meds before bed, or maybe some sleeping pills.
Does what I'm going through sound familiar? Do you think it could be my nervous system malfunctioning? Does anyone have any advice? I have a business trip next week for 5 days, and I'm hopeful that a new sleeping environment might reset me.

2024.06.01 12:16 Difficult_Figure_530 Siblings in faith that reverted and striggle with addiction or dependence.

Dear siblings in Islam. In my life as a muslim i saw many people who struggled with alcohol addiction or other forms of dependecies that they gained before Allah gave them guidance.
Please do not suggest without knowledge to the new reverts to quit their addictions or dependencies suddenly.
Dependance of some forms of medications or drugs are seriously harming and can even be life-threatening if you quit cold turkey. For an example Alcohol, Benzodiazepines and most medicines or intoxicants that target GABA-receptors.
Please inform yourself about the gradual prohibition revealed in the Quran and also modern science:
Ask ChatGPT or use Search Engines like Google to do your research on:
Quitting alcohol suddenly if you are a heavy alcoholic can kill you and will with 100% certainty cause injuries on the brain.
My personal advice:
  1. Adress the problems you have and reflect, find healthy coping strategies while recovering, while tapering. This will add to the desire to get rid of it and to go down as you see that you can be stronger without the substance. -Prayer and Dua (Supplication) trust in Allah but use logic and common sense. -Meditation -Yoga -moderate excercise -breathing excercises etc.
  2. Surround yourself with understanding and positive people. Negativity is your enemy in your process of healing. Learn to cultivate positivity and let go of people whose words or actions harm your soul.
  3. If withdrawal is to harsh but still managable (no medical issues) stay on that dose for a longer time until you feel ready to go down for a bit more. Your body will adapt in shaa Allah.
  4. Don't listen to anyone suggesting to quit suddenly. Most of them have no knowledge of medicine or maybe even their deen.
  5. Understand that every body is different. Your biochemistry is different than that from another person. Listen to your body. Go at a pace that is in harmony with your system.
  6. Don't read the horror-stories online. They just make you paranoid and make everything that would be easy otherwise, hard.
  7. And the last but not least put your trust in Allah again.

2024.06.01 11:55 StanleyBillsRealName How do you wake up every day and keep the strength to say no? This feels like alcoholism all over again :(.

The longer I go on the harder the cravings are. I can't stand even a week like this, I cave on the weekend. My eating habits are regular and fulfilling. But sugar will always make me my mood better. It makes me depressed to imagine living life without an access to that "free" moodlifter. It was soulcrushing to have to give up alcohol, to try and train myself to live with the fact that REAL life does not and can't feel like a party. It's just how it is. If everyday is a party, by yourself in your sad dingy flat, you are an addict, not living. There is quarantee something about your life is being neglected if you feel like you are having the time of your life every night, whether from actual intoxication or from the sweet taste of cinnamon buns.
But the bad news for my sugar addiction is I seem to be a bit of an dry alcoholic. If you don't know what that is, it's when you don't have the booze anymore but you still haven't healed the causes of the alcoholism, which logically lead to just another addiction. Even worse news is that I can't just refer to my previous stradegy for this sugar addiction even if my sobriety feels secure.
I take naltrexone. It is drug to lessen the effects and cravings of alcohol and opiods. It doesn't work as well for everyone as it has for me. But while alcoholism support circles online are so sweet about it and pat me on the back, I do think I did less for sobriety than others, I had the worst months of my life and then I just got put on it. Now I know what it is like to be addicted but I don't know what it is like to recover. I wouldn't be sober without naltrexone.
So now I am back where I started. All my life so far I have managed to stay between the mildly underweight to mildly overweight category. No fast swings from one side to the other, even if I have been on both ends but I'm talking more than a decade on the time periods. Now I am average again even if heavier than couple months ago. With that history and status, I'm not getting any kind of pills this time.
I wish there was a way to practice saying no before I actually am bombarded with all these mental gymnastics, circular arguments, excuses and barganing my mind likes to toy me with. It's 3 days of newly sworn loyalty to health but at least by day 6 it's like I am being thrown straight to the final boss. There's no inbetweens. I feel like there's no way to safely fail because it ends in binges and that ends in weight gain which feels like a direct proof of what a horrible addict I am, a number to measure how I am getting worse. The time I was overweight two years ago was like body horror, I really hated it and I hate this this. I'm scared I'm headed for it again. I can't even fathom where tf I am supposed to pull the energy from to keep saying no, when I am already beaten to a pulp by avoidance and overcoming of triggers. How am I supposed to stop for good when I can't make it for 7 days??? Barely 1??

2024.06.01 11:49 Core_Concept_ 5 Essential Habits to Manage Arthritis: Find Relief with Core Concept

5 Essential Habits to Manage Arthritis: Find Relief with Core Concept
https://preview.redd.it/v1c2sfy1mx3d1.png?width=940&format=png&auto=webp&s=c92a31ccac1327d3a670677c4e4c8c84fc0bb356
Living with arthritis can be challenging, but there are steps you can take to ease the pain and improve your quality of life. Here are five essential habits to incorporate into your daily routine:
Keep Moving:
It might seem counterintuitive, but gentle exercise can actually help reduce arthritis pain by improving joint flexibility and strength. Strive to engage in approximately 150 minutes of moderate exercise weekly, with a focus on gentle activities that are easy on the joints. Opt for low-impact workouts such as leisurely walks, swimming sessions, or water aerobics to help maintain your physical fitness without putting excessive strain on your body.
Maintain a Healthy Weight:
Extra pounds put added stress on your joints, worsening arthritis symptoms. Attaining and sustaining a healthy weight can help alleviate strain on your joints and alleviate discomfort associated with arthritis. Seek guidance from your healthcare provider to establish a suitable weight goal tailored to your individual needs and circumstances.
Mind Your Posture:
Poor posture can exacerbate arthritis pain, so pay attention to how you sit and stand throughout the day. Sit and stand with proper alignment to reduce strain on your joints, and consider working with a physical therapist to learn correct posture techniques.
Quit Smoking:
Smoking not only harms your overall health but also contributes to joint and bone damage, making arthritis symptoms worse. If you smoke, seek assistance from your healthcare provider to develop a cessation strategy and improve your arthritis management.
Find Balance:
Stay physically active but listen to your body and rest when needed. Overexertion can worsen symptoms, so prioritize self-care and take breaks when necessary.
In addition to these essential habits, it's important to follow your healthcare provider's recommendations for arthritis treatment. This may include taking prescribed medications, such as anti-inflammatories or pain relievers, to alleviate discomfort. For those with specific types of arthritis, biologic medications may also be recommended to target the immune system response.

2024.06.01 11:46 Book_Vampire INFJ and overthinking?

Hi, does anyone else struggle with overthinking?
As an example, I contributed to a lot of discussions at work yesterday and now I keep thinking “have I overstepped”, “do I come across as arrogant” and I’m over analysing everything I said and other people’s expressions or tones.
I perceive subtle changes in people’s expressions and worry about how I am being interpreted by others. I’m even scared to post this because worried how it comes across haha. It is exhausting to be honest.
Not sure if this is an INFJ thing or other (e.g. social anxiety), but I have repeatedly typed as INFJ over the years and curious if this is more an INFJ thing from intuition being used to interpret interactions?
It’s even annoying my husband to be honest and so that’s making me sad…I never really discuss worries with him (or anyone) but when I am overthinking I am often quiet and retreat into my own world and he feels shut out. I often just live inside my head to be honest. Being like this feels like a curse. We’ve been together 12 years so he knows what I’m like, but it still frustrates him at times I think. I do say generally if something is stressing me, but I don’t explain the details or the amount of brain space it is taking up.
Anyway, if anyone else feels like this how do you manage it? Any suggestions welcome and please be kind. Thank you!

2024.06.01 11:41 Secret_Software_3065 A random man saved my life

As stupid as it sounds. A random man, in the local corner shop gave me 1 more reason to keep going.
I'm 16. And I've dealt with mental health issues for as long as I can remember. I was around 9 when I began harming myself and I was 10 when I first started properly wishing I could die. I remember being 12 and begging a god I didn't even believe in to take my away in my sleep. It was sad. I was just a kid and I didn't need that. But I'm used to it now.
A year ago I was properly diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I am currently going though a diagnosis for BPD. Which is already likely.
A couple weeks ago I had a rough time at school, revising for current exams and struggling with the changes. I found myself having daily panic attacks and feeling an urge to relapse in hurting myself and alcohol usage. I layed off through and managed to ignore it.
I'd had a significantly bad day at school and on the way home I had decided to take my time walking down to the corner shop, which was only 10 mins walk from school. I go there often and it's pretty cheap for energy drinks and sweets and gum. Which is what every teenager in the UK really gets.
I'd walked in and I was aware my face was sullen and I looked dull. My eyes were red from the tears throughout the day and I was still shaking from the stress and constant panic attacks id had.
I remember I had picked up a small tub of Pringles, a 45p energy drink, and a pack of gum. A man was in front of me paying, he had a massive basket which was quite funny for a convenience shop. He also had a young daughter with him, looking around 2 or 3. I gave her a warm smile as she looked at me and her face lit up. As did mine. He asked if I wanted to go in front of him because I only had a few things, to which I quickly denied and said it was fine. I continued waiting and after a minute or so he turned around and asked what I had. Before I could reply he took the things out my hands and payed for them. I stood there dumbfounded. I managed to mutter out a meek "thank you mate I appreciate it". He gave me a Pat on the back and told me to go. I smiled at him daughter again and left, walking home.
Unknown to him...but I had planned on stealing a few cans of alcohol and running off into the local woods that night. I also planned on taking something to harm myself with. I didn't. He had made me so unbelievably happy and content that I went home, ate my food, and sat there.
I messaged all my friends about it as I walked back home. I could've cried again.
It just shows it’s the little things. He has no idea how important that was to me. So I ask you. Be kind. For no reason.
It was the most selfless expression anyone has ever done for me and I don't think I'll ever forget it.

2024.06.01 11:38 Pawnanny Choosing the Best Pet Overnight Services: Top 10 Tips for Pet Owners.

Choosing the Best Pet Overnight Services: Top 10 Tips for Pet Owners.
Introduction
Choosing the best pet overnight services can be a daunting task for any pet owner. Ensuring your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness while you're away is paramount. This guide provides comprehensive insights into what to look for in a pet overnight service, so you can make an informed decision that benefits both you and your furry friend.

Understanding Pet Overnight Services
Pet overnight services, also known as pet boarding or pet lodging, provide temporary care for pets while their owners are away. These services range from basic boarding facilities to luxury pet hotels, offering various amenities and levels of care.

Importance of Choosing the Right Pet Overnight Service
Selecting the right pet overnight service ensures your pet is well-cared for, reducing anxiety and stress for both you and your pet. A good service will provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment, with professional staff to cater to your pet's needs.

1. Research and Recommendations
Start by researching pet overnight services in your area. Ask for recommendations from friends, family, and your veterinarian. Online reviews and testimonials can also provide valuable insights into the experiences of other pet owners.

2. Visit the Facility
Before making a decision, visit the facility in person. Check for cleanliness, security, and the overall condition of the boarding area. Observe how the staff interacts with the pets and ask about their daily routine.

3. Check Credentials and Licensing
Ensure the facility is licensed and adheres to local regulations. Check if the staff is trained in pet care and first aid. A reputable service will have no problem providing proof of their credentials.

4. Evaluate Safety Measures
Safety is a top priority. Look for secure fencing, proper ventilation, and fire safety measures. The facility should have protocols for emergencies and a plan for handling any medical issues that arise.

5. Assess the Staff-to-Pet Ratio
A low staff-to-pet ratio ensures your pet receives adequate attention and care. Ask about the number of staff members per pet and how they manage feeding, exercise, and playtime.

6. Examine the Sleeping Arrangements
Inspect the sleeping areas for cleanliness and comfort. The facility should provide a comfortable bed or crate, and you may want to bring your pet's bedding to help them feel more at home.

7. Review Feeding and Medication Policies
Discuss the facility's feeding policies and how they handle pets with special dietary needs. If your pet requires medication, ensure the staff is experienced in administering it correctly.

8. Ask About Exercise and Playtime
Regular exercise and playtime are crucial for your pet's well-being. Ask about the daily schedule and how much time is allocated for physical activities. Look for facilities that offer individual and group play options.

9. Consider Additional Services and Amenities
Some pet overnight services offer additional amenities such as grooming, training, and spa treatments. These extras can enhance your pet's stay but may come at an additional cost. Determine what services are most important for your pet's comfort and enjoyment.

10. Review Pricing and Policies
Compare prices among different facilities, but don't base your decision solely on cost. Review the facility's policies on cancellations, deposits, and emergencies. Ensure you understand what is included in the price and if there are any additional fees.

Tips for a Smooth Transition
Prepare Your Pet
Before leaving your pet, help them adjust by visiting the facility together. This will make the environment more familiar and less stressful for your pet when you drop them off.

Pack Familiar Items
Bring along your pet's favorite toys, bedding, and any necessary medications. Familiar items can provide comfort and reduce anxiety.

Communicate with the Staff
Provide the staff with detailed information about your pet's habits, preferences, and any medical conditions. Clear communication ensures your pet receives personalized care.

Stay in Touch
Most facilities will provide updates on your pet's stay. Regular check-ins can give you peace of mind and keep you informed about how your pet is doing.

Monitor Your Pet's Health
After picking up your pet, monitor their behavior and health. It's normal for pets to take a day or two to readjust, but if you notice any concerning changes, contact the facility or your veterinarian.

Benefits of Choosing the Right Pet Overnight Service
Peace of Mind
Knowing your pet is in a safe, caring environment allows you to relax and focus on your trip.

Professional Care
Experienced staff can handle medical needs, dietary requirements, and behavioral issues, providing professional care for your pet.

Socialization Opportunities
Many facilities offer group play and socialization with other pets, which can be beneficial for your pet's mental and emotional well-being.

Regular Routine
Maintaining a routine for feeding, exercise, and rest helps reduce stress and keeps your pet happy and healthy.

Access to Additional Services
Facilities that offer grooming, training, and other services can provide added convenience and enhance your pet's stay.

Conclusion
Choosing the best pet overnight service requires careful consideration and research. By following these top 10 tips and considering a reputable provider like PawNanny, you can ensure your pet’s comfort, safety, and happiness while you’re away. 2024.06.01 11:18 worldviews16 My biggest insecurity is what he’s attracted to

I (35m) have always struggled with weight. I lost 30 lbs / 14 kg a few years back, but got stressed at work and put it all back on (and then some). I’ve always been super self-conscious and aware of my weight, but I struggle to lose it no matter how hard I try.
That said, I met a guy recently that seems like he’s truly interested in me, however the night we met he pulled my shirt out a bit to look at my normal hairy chest and said “you really are a bear.” I personally don’t like being called a bear, but it is clearly something he finds attractive.
How do other guys manage when someone you’re interested in fetishizes your biggest vulnerability?

2024.06.01 11:12 pximon So stressed thinking of the people I have to deal with at work, I might start smoking.

As the title says, I'm a 20-something year old and in my country, we're really big on seniority, or at least the older generation is.
I like learning new things as a legal executive but I have to say, I don't enjoy having to walk on eggshells around certain senior clerks. I get treated like an intern than a legal executive.
I also have a problem with setting boundaries, one of the senior clerks likes to delegate her work to me like calling up people to ask about her files and sending emails to people for portfolios that she personally handles. When I turned one of her requests down because I was dealing with something urgent, she said she understood and I saw her calling up those people herself so... she could have done it on her own but she for some reason decided to ask me (more like tell me) to do it.
I'm thinking of quitting but I'm only 3 weeks in. So my next option is to take up smoking or get medicated for stress and anxiety (I've met a therapist once who told me that my anxiety level is higher than normal people).
If anyone has some tips on how to set boundaries professionally and how to manage stress, I'd highly appreciate it.

Over the past few months, I've had the opportunity to try out C&G's Inside the Waistband Covert holster for my 1911. The first thing that struck me was how well-designed and comfortable it was. As someone who carries most of the day, the last thing I want is my holster to be uncomfortable or distracting.
One of the standout features was the solid locking retention. It gave me peace of mind, knowing my firearm was secure when I was on the move. The holster was also designed to fit most RMRed Dots on the market, which was a nice touch.
However, there were a couple of cons I noticed. First, the open bottom allowed for threaded barrels and compensators, but it could be a bit challenging to get a perfect fit for my specific firearm. Secondly, the 1.5-inch belt clip could be a bit snug for my thicker belt.
Overall, my experience with C&G's Covert holster has been mostly positive. The holster offers a comfortable and secure fit, and the craftsmanship is top-notch. While there were a few minor drawbacks, the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

🔗Precision Competitive Holster for 1911 4.25'' - Kydex, Aluminum, Adjustable

https://preview.redd.it/uaviuox6fx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c878830e3a9082f69923c9671e16b1278804c13d
As a shooting enthusiast, I recently came across the 1911 4.25'' No Rail Pro Ball Joint Competition Holster, and I must say, it has greatly enhanced my experience. Its adjustable ride height, which allows me to fine-tune my grip, is a game-changer.
The aluminum ball joint provides a smooth, sturdy connection that ensures a reliable hold, while the Kydex shell offers a perfect fit. Plus, the optic compatibility adds a touch of convenience. However, I also noticed that the holster can be quite heavy, which might affect my mobility during competitions.
Overall, this holster has proven to be a valuable investment for any serious shooter.

🔗Speed Master 2.0 Leather Chest Holster for 1911 Pistols

https://preview.redd.it/nqmfbx77fx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68ad3f2a292e235226e808078c046ffa2c489c2d
I had the pleasure of trying out the Galco SM2212R Speed Master 2.0 1911 5in Tan, and I must say, it's a fantastic choice for gun enthusiasts. This versatile holster offers a sleek design and comes in both paddle and belt slot configurations, ensuring you can choose the carry method that suits your needs best.
One of the standout features of this holster is the high-quality premium steerhide construction. The build feels sturdy and reliable, giving me confidence in its performance. The adjustable tension unit is a convenient feature that allowed me to customize the holster's grip, ensuring my firearm stayed securely in place.
However, there were a couple of downsides I encountered during my experience. The slight butt-forward or neutral cant can vary depending on the firearm, which might not be ideal for everyone. Additionally, the holster might not fit as snugly as desired on larger pistol barrels.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the Galco SM2212R Speed Master 2.0 is an impressive and versatile holster that provides excellent concealment and security. If you're in the market for a high-quality and customizable 1911 holster, this might just be the right fit for you.

🔗Premium Western 1911 Inside-the-Waistband Holster

https://preview.redd.it/ujoeedn7fx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c4c2c8fe7a3488f5f3f9ac0cb56052dee61c007
I recently had the chance to try the Galco Royal Guard 1911 Inside-the-Waistband Holster Black - a sleek and versatile option for gun owners. This holster boasts an innovative design that keeps your weapon secure while still ensuring that you have easy access to it when you need it most. I particularly appreciated the rough side of the leather facing out, providing great stability and protection for your gun.
Wearing the Galco Royal Guard was a comfortable experience, allowing for real-world concealment even of larger defensive guns. The smooth leather pocket was reinforced for sturdiness, and it granted unrestricted movement and easy reholstering. In my opinion, the combat grip accessibility rounded out this holster's utility to make it an invaluable choice for those seeking speed and agility.
A few aspects of the Galco Royal Guard could use some improvement, but overall, I was impressed with the product. Its premium natural color horsehide constructed to fit 1-3/4" belts was a definite plus. And for those with 1-1/4" belts, there's an optional belt channel to consider. While there is still room for improvement, the Royal Guard holds promise as a reliable choice for any gun enthusiast.

🔗Durable Tactical 1911 Compensator for Enhanced Performance

I recently added the BCMGUNFIGHTER Compensator Mod 7 - 5.56 to my trusty 1911 setup, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer for my tactical operations. This ain't no lightweight accessory, it's a solid piece of machinery that reduces muzzle rise and flash to a minimum, making my targets all the more accurate.
It's also helped keep things nice and quiet during reconnaissance missions, and the lateral force it counteracts has been a lifesaver when I gotta take quick shots on the go. Sure, it might be a bit of a heavy-hitter compared to some other comps out there, but the benefits I've experienced have made it a more than worthy addition to my arsenal. So, if you're looking for a versatile compensator for your tactical ops, this bad boy deserves a serious look.

🔗Hybrid Titanium Compensator for 1911 Pistol

https://preview.redd.it/nypng2h8fx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ee71771c7076c2edaad8cb56a1696adce59247b
The EGW Hybrid Titanium Compensator 575 x 40 is a sleek and sturdy addition to any 1911 firearm. I've been using it in my daily training sessions, and it's performed exceptionally well. The titanium construction not only adds durability but also keeps the weight down, making it a perfect choice for those who value portability.
One highlight of this compensator is its ability to reduce recoil significantly, which is especially useful for those newer to the sport or for those looking for a smoother shooting experience. This feature, combined with its robust design, has proven to improve the overall performance of my handgun.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks to this product. Firstly, the international shipping restrictions can be a hassle for those living outside the US. And secondly, the lack of an extensive review history makes it challenging to gauge the overall user satisfaction with this product.
Overall, the EGW Hybrid Titanium Compensator 575 x 40 is a high-quality accessory for 1911 firearms with a unique titanium construction that reduces recoil. While there are a few drawbacks to consider, the pros outweigh the cons, making it a worthy addition to many shooters' kits.

🔗Premium 1911 Inside Waistband Holster

I recently had the chance to try out the Vedder Holsters 1911 w/out rail 4.25" (Colt Commander frameNOT SIG) RapidTuck, an inside the waistband (IWB) hybrid holster that's handcrafted with premium leather and molded Kydex. The moment I started using it, I was struck by the attention to detail and the perfect fit for my 1911 w/without rail 4.25" Colt Commander frame.
One of the key features that stood out to me was the comfort of the holster. The leather is soft and well-finished, making it comfortable even for extended periods of wear. Whether you carry in the 3 o'clock position, appendix carry, or cross draw, the RapidTuck offers various carry options that are both comfortable and secure.
Another great aspect of the holster is the custom Kydex shell, which is molded to fit your firearm perfectly. This ensures proper clearance with all front sights and loaded chamber indicators, providing peace of mind even in the harshest conditions. The included Rock Solid Spring Steel Clip is a nice touch, offering two belt accommodations and a tuckable design for deep concealment.
While I enjoyed using this holster, there were a couple of minor drawbacks that I noticed. Firstly, the adjustable ride height feature is a bit more challenging to use than some other holsters on the market. Secondly, the limited color options might not appeal to everyone looking for a personalized touch. Despite these small drawbacks, the overall quality and performance of the 1911 w/out rail 4.25" (Colt Commander frameNOT SIG) RapidTuck make it a solid choice for anyone in the market for an IWB hybrid holster.

🔗Speed Master 2.0 5in 1911 Concealed Holster with Paddle and Belt Options

I recently gave the Galco SM2212RB Speed Master 2.0 a try for my 1911 pistol. It impressed me with its ability to quickly switch between a paddle and belt holster, which is perfect for my lifestyle. The open-top design allows me to draw my pistol faster, while the covered trigger ensures added safety.
The steerhide material feels premium and holds a good grip on the pistol. However, I noticed that the holster might be a bit snug for larger belts, but overall, the Speed Master 2.0 is a versatile and dependable choice for concealed carry.

🔗Universal Single Mag Holder for 1911 Compensators

https://preview.redd.it/z4qnffo9fx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6ae6c3d2992e3b26ae9c85b79cbb35cdaf4c39c

This is the kind of mag holder that makes you say, "I never knew I needed this until now! " It's a game-changer, designed to hold your magazines in place, making your life easier and hassle-free. The C&G's Universal single mag holder is made with high-quality materials, ensuring it lasts long, stays sturdy, and remains a reliable tool in your arsenal.
The Universal aspect of this product is a testament to its versatility, as it fits almost all pistols or mags. And let's talk about the fit - it's made for a purpose and designed to ensure that your magazines stay where they should. No more fumbling or worrying about your magazines falling out when you need them most.
But what about the looks? Well, let's just say it's not an eyesore. It manages to blend form and function, seamlessly becoming a part of your daily arsenal. The fact that it's made in America by the best professionals in the field is a cherry on top.
However, like any other product, it does have a small downside. The clip might take some getting used to, as it's a little bigger and wider than what most users would prefer. But it's a small cost to pay for a product that performs so magnificently.
In conclusion, the C&G's Universal single mag holder is a top-notch product that delivers on its promises. It's a reliable and efficient accessory that makes holstering and retrieving your magazines a breeze. It might have a minor issue with the clip size, but overall, it's a must-have for anyone who wants to ensure their magazines stay secure and easily accessible.

🔗Stainless Steel 1911 Gun Compensator

https://preview.redd.it/3wgvi25afx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19f83235702d3ce0df1bf7a2d144104b6169ee93
I recently had the chance to try out the BCM Gunfighter Comp Mod1 762 5/8x24 in a few shooting sessions, and let me tell you, it was quite an experience. One of the most impressive features of this compensator is its stainless steel construction. Don't get me wrong, I'm no gunsmith, but I could tell that the quality was top-notch. It just felt solid and well-built in my hands.
During my time with the Gunfighter, I noticed that it really reduced the muzzle rise and the noise associated with typical comps. It was like shooting a silenced revolver, which made it a joy to use, especially during team CQB drills. The inclusion of a crush washer was another plus, as it made the installation process a breeze.
However, there were a couple of things that I wasn't completely thrilled about. First, it was a bit heavier than some other compensators I've used, which made it a bit unwieldy in certain situations. But overall, the benefits outweighed the drawbacks, and I found myself reaching for it on my next few range trips.

As a gun enthusiast, I recently had the chance to try out the Galco Tac Slide Belt Holster for my Colt Kimber Para 1911 5" Black RH TS212B. First and foremost, the design of this holster is quite impressive, with its combination of steerhide and Kydex materials, which provides both durability and comfort in one package. The adjustable belt slots make it easy to wear and also allow for excellent concealment, even with larger frames.
One of the standout features of this holster is the open top and neutral cant, which make the draw incredibly smooth and efficient, even when wearing heavier pants or jackets. This is a crucial aspect for those who need to access their weapon quickly and discreetly.
However, the Tac Slide does have its drawbacks. For one, the holster itself is quite bulky, which can be a disadvantage for those who prefer a more minimalistic design. Additionally, while the steerhide back plate is comfortable, it can be a bit fussy when trying to reholster the firearm, particularly if the holster is not set up properly.
Overall, despite these minor drawbacks, I found the Galco Tac Slide Belt Holster to be a reliable and functional option for concealing and carrying my Colt Kimber Para 1911. It's a versatile option that works well with both semi-autos and double-action revolvers, making it a solid choice for gun owners looking for a convenient and secure way to carry their weapon.

https://preview.redd.it/bbr4gacbfx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63128e3e6bfb7adf533604754e478307a8309447
I've had the chance to use the EGW 11830 CNC 7-Port 5-Chamber Comp Cone in my 1911 pistol, and I must say it's made quite a difference in its performance. It's built with heat-treated, stress-proof Carbon Steel, which adds to its durability and reliability. One of the most noticeable things about this cone is its unique 10-degree angle, designed to control muzzle flip and keep the gun steady even during intense shooting sessions.
However, one downside I noticed was that installing it required a bit of extra effort, as it required a reverse plug due to its lack of a bushing to hold the recoil spring. Nonetheless, once in place, it lined up perfectly with the barrel bore and provided a smooth, precise shooting experience.
