In Excel, Generate a Row Using Every N Columns of Data
Problem description & analysis:
In the following Excel worksheet, starting from the 2nd column, every N columns of data forms a group. Take N=2 as an example:
ID Type 1 Count 1 Type 2 Count 2 Type 3 Count 3
1 a 640 d 290 a
2 d 12000 a 1900 f 6000
3 f 48000 f 3600 e 1600
4 c 46000 e 3100 b 1200
5 e 47000 c 3400 d 1400
6 b 64000 b 3600 c 1200
Our task is to transpose columns to rows: use every two columns of data in each row to generate a new row, that is, expand each existing row to three rows; keep the 1st column ID; and add a new 2nd column whose name is No and which contains ordinal numbers of the newly expanded rows:
ID No Type Count
1 1 a 640
1 2 b 290
1 3 a
2 1 d 12000
2 2 a 1900
2 3 f 6000
3 1 f 48000
3 2 f 3600
3 3 e 1600
Solution:
Use SPL XLL to enter the following formula:
=spl("=?.conj(ID=~(1),~.m(2:).group((#-1)\2).(ID#~))",A2:G7) As shown in the picture:
https://preview.redd.it/apixgb56fj1d1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=4e6dc45e296537601e87b1beb5cee043e3dc109e
Explanation:
~.m(2:) means retrieving data from the 2nd column of the current row to the end. The group() function groups the data every 2 columns.
To group the data every 5 columns, just modify parameter 2 to 5.

2024.05.20 07:51 Agreeable-Ad4806 Effect of Conjunctions

This is for Vedic astrology and so follows Vedic rules for considering conjunctions, which states they are formed when two or more planets occupy the same house and sign. Conjunction effects are made stronger with proximity, but they are still considered to apply even if there are 28° in the same house and sign.
The planets have natural friendship and Panchda friendship. If planets coming together are friends, their characteristic properties join. When they are neutral or enemies, a conjunction tends to weaken one of the planets involved, with stronger planet's characteristics prevailing but to a lesser extent cancelling each other out. Similarly, the natural significations of planets may or may not coincide or clash. If they do coincide, results will be better. But if opposing each other, then it will reduce the significations of the planets. If the planets belong to the same nature i.e. fiery, earthy, airy, or watery, hot or cold, fast or slow, it may increase their combined results. The opposite effect will occur when they contrast one another’s nature.
Here are some of the things conjunctions may indicate. I am only going to include those of the Sun and Moon to save time. An important thing to remember is that the time of fructification for a conjunction will align with major and minor planetary periods (dasas).
Sun and Moon— Both are friends, but Sun is hot & fiery representing the soul, while the Moon is cool & watery representing Mana (mind) and becomes weak in Paksh-bala when close to Sun. They give good results when placed in Trikone/ 10th house / Aries, Cancer or Leo sign. This conjunction is said to make the native valorous, haughty, skilled in works of stone, machinery & tools, sale of intoxicants/ poisons, wanderer, harsh, wicked, immodest, libidinous, easily submitting to females, and suffering from eye diseases. If otherwise influenced by benefics, the native may also become a great philosopher or saint. This conjunction promotes general strength of character and usefulness at home & abroad. It is good for all social and benevolent acts, gives humanitarian impulses and conduces to popularity and general success. That said, the effects of weak Moon will be prevalent.
Sun and Mars— Both are friends, fiery, hot, bilious, aggressive, and cruel Grahas. This conjunction is said to make a native strong, energetic, bold, clever, liked by rulers, brave in combat but prone to injury, a tormentor of enemies, impulsive, hasty, short tempered, obstinate, a liar, quarrelsome, sinful, bereft of home and family comforts, but loves siblings. One suffers due to defects in blood or digestion. But if this conjunction is aspected by Jupiter, the will power and desire of the native will be harmoniously realized. Such natives tend to be employed in police or armed forces, and this combination makes a capable surgeon or engineer as well. It makes one splendorous, strong, valorous, very emotional, and foolish. In female charts, in Trikone houses, it gives abortions & miscarriages. This combination is destructive and not preferable in Kendra/ Trikone houses, unless with benefic influences. I t gives best results in lagna, 10th or 11th house. In 10th house, it is extra strong, since both gets directional strength here; it makes one dictatorial towards subordinates.
Sun and Mercury— This combination is very common as Mercury is never more than 28 degrees away from Sun in any chart. But when closely conjunct together, they form Buddhaditya Yoga, making one learned, intelligent, virtuous, skilled in various arts, an eloquent orator, honorable, and popular. The native is sweet tongued, talkative, clever, earns wealth by serving others, scholarly, good in looks, but fickle minded. This yoga is more effective in signs or lagna of Sun/ Mercury. It gives better results if Mercury is behind Sun within three degrees or so; when it gives high power & capacity for concentration and can make one wealthy. It gives good results in Kendra/Trikone houses except for 7th. It is good in 2nd and 11th houses.
Sun and Jupiter— Both planets are friendly, fiery, Satwik, and male. The conjunction makes one virtuous, able to gain from friends, possibly wealthy, wise, intelligent, widely renowned, spiritual, a good teacher, knowledgeable of scripture, a follower of religious pursuits, possibly a banker or physician, and skilled in various activities relating to Jupiter and Sun. The native is always sincere, devoted to duty, wise, diplomatic, healthy, long-lived, servile, and helpful to others even at the cost of themselves. In 4th or 9th house, it can make one a legal expert. If Jupiter is combust or otherwise badly afflicted, in case of males, there would be loss in wealth and in happiness from progeny; and in case of females, there could be delay in marriage or marital problems.
Sun and Venus— The two are inimical to each other. Sun is fiery, Satwik, and Krror male, representing the soul. Venus is airy and watery, Rajshi, benefic, and female, representing sensual pleasures. The two together affect eyes and eyesight. This conjunction is said to make the native skilled in archery/weaponry, music, acting & fine arts, affectionate, popular, polite, indulgent in vehiciles, property, and ornaments, and they earn through opposite sex. It can make one an optician (in 6th/ 8th house) and well known (in 5th, 8th, or 10th house). The native is said to be libidinous, lacking stable marital life (particularly in 5th, 7th or 9th house), possessing limited progeny, addicted to vices (especially in Cance Scorpio), highly sexed (especially within 3 degrees). The combination is generally better when Venus is ahead of Sun and not combust. It is worse in moveable signs.
Sun and Saturn— The two are bitter enemies and hostile to each other. Saturn is quite different from Sun, being airy, Tamasik, malefic, gender neutral, and eunuch. Sun represents vitality and soul and Saturn lethargy and miseries. Both are separatist planets and lead to salvation though. Some say they may represent father-son or boss-subordinate relationship. A native with such a conjunction is generally said to be virtuous, intelligent, mindful of their duties, mature in behaviour, learned, and follows tradition being self made. They get inheritance, but generally squander away ancestral property. They have a bitter family life, dominating enemies, an anguished mind, and this adversely affects cordiality with father or senior authorities. They are popular among poor; labourous, and downtrodden. It gives poor results in Kendra or Trikone houses, indicates gain from Sun's articles but loss from Saturn's articles and not favourable for ladies of one’s family. One does not get comfort of wife/ children and leads a secluded life with this placement unless mitigating factors are at play.
Moon and Mars— Moon is watery, Satwik, cool, and female, representing wavering mind and mother; but Mars is fiery, Tamsik, hot tempered, and male, representing valour; martial talents, and younger siblings. Both belong to the same friendly group and control formation & circulation of blood. Such a native with this conjunction is generally clever, shrewd, highly emotional, erratic, less controlled, over-active, courageous, short tempered, adamant, and ambitious. They can be wealthy (Chandra-Mangal yoga), deal with women heavily. They are skilled in work related to wines, earthen pottery, leather, handicrafts, minerals, and consulting. If afflicted, one suffers from low vitality, blood disorders, and can be hostile to nurturers & maternal relations.
Moon and Mercury— Both are natural benefics, but Mercury is different as it is earthy, Rajshik, and a eunuch planet. If Moon is divine mother, the Mercury is divine prince, who is not happy with his mother. This conjunction gives an active mind, highly developed intellect, a retentive memory, good general knowledge and common sense, sound expression, quick wit, and diverse merits. It makes one beautiful, can be wealthy, amiable and attached to one's spouse, humorous, soft spoken, modest, fortunate, famous, a successful scholar, and an eloquent speaker. Interestingly, it gives good results even in 3rd, 6th, 9th, or 12th houses. If afflicted by Mars/ Saturn, it causes Pisach Yoga and makes native scornful, hypersensitive, erratic, and a complex ridden person with a feeling of guilt, insecurity, and suspicion.
Moon and Jupiter— Both are friendly, benefic and Satwik, but Jupiter is fiery, wise, and male. The conjunction highlights good qualities of both and Jupiter does not allow Moon to waver or do any wrong. It makes native devoted to god, healthy, happy, distinguished, contended, good natured, optimistic, mentally benevolent, attached to their duties, engaged in virtuous deeds, helpful to others, sympathetic, broad minded, warm hearted, and very intelligent. It gives very good results in Kendra/ Trikone houses. In 10th house, it gives good positive kind of management skill and consultancy work. Together they form famous Gajkesari Yoga. However, if afflicted, it makes one harsh, lethargic, critical of others, fickle minded, and wasteful.
Moon and Venus— Both planets are natural benefic and females, and Moon is great facilitator of main significations of Venus i.e. marriage & pleasure. But Venus is airy/watery and Rajsik. The native is wise, good looking, popular, adept in music, fine arts, tailoring, weaving, & mandarin trading of clothes, clever in buying & selling, fond of flowers & perfumes, refined with cool mind, lover of beauty, associated with and gets comfort & wealth from women. One has more daughters than sons and earns from sea travel. If in close conjunction, it is detrimental to married life. If afflicted, one is lazy, sinful, quarrelsome, addicted to vices, and may have death in water or through violence. In 6th or 9th house, it gives ailments in belly but in 12th it gives wealth from foreign sources.
Moon and Saturn— This is a great mismatch and the two are inimical to each other. Moon is watery, Satwik, female, and the fastest moving natural benefic; but Saturn is airy, Tamasik, eunuch, and the slowest moving natural malefic. Native may be born to a widow, remarried, spouse may be sickly or elder. They are said to be bereft of grace, self esteem, virtue, wealth and valour, having less progeny, worried, peevish, gloomy, hard working, and gets little happiness or nurture from mother. However, if it is aspected by Jupiter, several of its shortcomings get “cancelled.”

2024.05.20 07:50 CrinkleDink House Renart, Part 2: The Death of the Fox, and the Birth of the Dragon

House Renart, Part 2: The Death of the Fox, and the Birth of the Dragon
Part 1: https://www.reddit.com/CrusaderKings/comments/1crfhjs/so_i_played_the_box_art_dynasty_house_renart_here/
King Oldrik, King of Poland and Pomerania, had a long and successful reign. With his defeat of the northern pagans, House Renart believed it could conquer the world. However, it would be internal strife that would nearly lead the House to destruction...

King Wielslaw, King of Poland

To every dynasty, there is always a weak link. King Oldrik chose his heir poorly.
King Wielslaw (March 31st, 1139 - 25 of August, 1181) was King of Poland from 1177 until his death in 1181. He had barely any children, as his father’s inbreeding led him to having infertile loins, having very few children.
In life, he was a stubborn, arrogant man, but was oddly compassionate in his ways. He was known to be handsome in life and was fairly intelligent. He was skilled in theology and the matters of law and land, as well as history. However, he had a heavy drinking problem which would evidently lead to his demise, as well as disease.
As a prince Wielslaw, the youngest of his brothers, was granted the Duchy of Veletia in 1153 as his father was preparing him for rule. There he ruled for some time until his father Oldrick I died. He would ascend to the throne of Poland in 1177 while his brother Wielslaw became King of Pomerania, splitting the realms into two.
The same year, King Wielslaw went to war against Queen Darya of Volhynia, taking the southern provinces. The war lasted for two years, with the queen being defeated in March of 1179.
In 1180, King Wielslaw went around the country to enact justice and enforce taxes on his vassals. This proved to make him unpopular with the people. However, it did allow him to draft a
Wielslaw came to King Mieszko's defense against Stammesherzog Dethard's attempted de jure war of Duchy of Anhalt in 1181. This would lead to a swift victory. However, as he was fighting in Anhalt, a great disease of Bloody Flux spread throughout the land. King Wielslaw, while leading his troops in the camp, caught the disease and grew very ill. He began to drink during this time, and while drunk, he named his younger son, Oldrick, his new heir, while his eldest son, Sulistryj, was disinherited, due to murdering a man during a duel. He died on the 25th of August, 1181. A courier went out to Krakow to declare the young prince Oldrick as the new King of Poland, which shocked the court.

King Oldrick II, King of Poland

Tragedy befell this scaly yet innocent young king! From the drunken lips of his foolish father his fate was unfortunately sealed.
Oldrick II (May 6th, 1177 - January 3rd, 1186) was the King of Poland from 1181 to his death in 1186. A mere child who came upon the throne due to his father’s drunken final will, Oldrick saw a great civil war overtake his lands. His uncle, King Miezko of Pomerania, though having an alliance, schemed against him, and would ultimately take his life.
Throughout his reign he dealt with a civil war for his throne, led by his vassal Duke Uściech Lewiki in 1182. He had little power, though his most significant act was restoring his brother Sulistryj’s inheritance to become next in line for the crown of Poland. This hurt the plans of King Miezko, who was feigning his loyalty to the boy when fighting the civil war.
However, Oldrick II would be assassinated by King Miezko through poisoned candy, leading to his brother, Sulistryj, to take over the throne.

Sulistryj I ‘the Beautiful’, King of Poland and Pomerania

Vengeance to a brother's honor, and with a tongue as sweet as honey, his reign was unfortunately cut short by the thread of fate.
Sulistryj I (July 20th, 1156 - October 13th, 1214) was the King of Poland in 1186, and King of Pomerania in 1188, until his death in 1214. The eldest son of King Wielslaw, he saw support for his tenure on the throne of Poland after the death of his younger brother and proved to be a very capable diplomat.
Sulistryj would be the last member of the pure House of Renart. When he did, his uncle Dobromir Renart-Glogow would usurp power in the family. In life, he was rumored to be an atheist, and he had murdered a man in a duel. However, he was also known for being a very handsome man and intelligent, and well read and practiced in matters of diplomacy.
Sulistryj, before he was king, was notable for defeating Duke Usciech. During the civil war, he commanded a battle against the duke at the Battle of Gniezno on the 19th of April, 1183. The duke would surrender to King Oldrick II, and would then be beheaded and his lands stripped, delivered to Sulistryj who regained his right to inheritance.
Three years later, in 1186, his brother Oldrick II would die mysteriously. Sulistryj had suspected his uncle Miezko was vying for the throne of Poland and had him killed. And indeed, Miezko had sent a delegation to declare his rivalry with Sulistryj at the beginning of the summer, declaring his claim to Poland was truer. Sulistryj knew what was coming: an invasion.
To act quicker, Sulistryj quickly rallied his hosts and vassals outside the borders of Pomerania, and on the 5th of July, 1186, he declared himself the rightful King of Pomerania just as Miezko was on pilgrimage towards Rome. King Miezko quickly returned, not expecting such a bold decision from his nephew. A series of engagements would take place in the province of Nordmark, leading to a few staggering defeats for Sulistryj, including at the Battle of Ukkria. However, though the Pomeranians won the battle, King Miezko was severely injured. His son, Oldrick, would take over the front of battle.
And yet, from the south, King Otakar of Bohemia, seeing a moment of opportunity, invaded the next summer on the 4th of June, 1187, trying to take the lands of Lubben against King Sulistryj.
King Sulistryj grew nervous of the Bohemian invasion. However, come December, as his troops were making camp in the winter, he received news from a courier: King Miezko was dead. He had died from injuries sustained at the Battle of Ukkria.
The Battle of Strassburg (April 10th, 1188) would be the final engagement between the two kingdoms. King Sulistryj confronted King Oldrick II of Pomerania at the battle. By this point, Pomerania had grown exhausted and morale was terrible, and they were outnumbered. With Oldrick II’s rule being unfavored, the armies of Pomerania found themselves quickly overrun by the Poles. King Oldrick was defeated, and gave his crown over to Sulistryj.
The following year, in January, however, Oldrick II rebelled against, declaring his sister Princess Luitgard of Osterland was the proper queen of Pomerania. A quick skirmish took place in February of that year, leading to a white peace between the rebellious Oldrick and the king. He then began a claim war for the crown of Pomerania once again, the following year in 1190. He was once again defeated, and because of his constant rebellion, had his titles over Pomerania stripped and was beheaded.
In August of 1201, a Grand Tournament was held in Poland, the first of its kind in the land, under King Sulistryj. Here, the king himself won the Melee and Archery contests.
In 1209, Duke Krystyn of Veletia became a rival of King Sulistryj and declared him an illegitimate ruler. In December of that year, he began a rebellion of dethronement against the king. A year of small skirmishes and chasing took place, until the duke was defeated at the Battle of Gottingen on the 18th of December, 1210. The Duke would be imprisoned, his titles revoked, and executed. The king gave his second eldest son Sulistryj the title.
Then, in 1213, King Sulistryj decided to go on pilgrimage to the city of Cologne with his eldest son Oldrick. They began their journey in January of that year. However, a great plague overcame the city of Consumption. When Sulistryj arrived, he and his son grew ill. They finished their pilgrimage at the church of Cologne, and were quickly delivered home by their servants. However, when they arrived in October, the king, nor his son, was recovering from their sickness. King Sulistryj grew worse, and would pass away, leaving his eldest son Otger to inherit the throne of Poland, while his son Sulistryj became King of Pomerania.

King Otger II ‘the Sickly’

Alas, many tried to save his reign but it would be the woes of plague that did him in. And thus the House of Renart would die with him.
Otger II (October 25th, 1204 - June 2nd, 1217) was the King of Poland from 1214 until his death from consumption in 1217. His reign saw a great era of instability within the land. Historically, Otger II was the last king of the proper Renart dynasty.
When he became king, the sudden death of his father caused opportunistic vassals to favor his great-uncle and grandfather, Duke Drobomir of Silesia. Though Duke Drobomir swore loyalty to the line of Sulistryj (his nephew) he secretly schemed to take over the throne. Duke Drobomir conspired the vassals of Poland to turn against the young king.
In the second year of Otger’s reign, Count Janusz Halicki of Kalisz led the dukes and counts of Poland in rebellion against Otger, declaring that Duke Drobomir the true King of Poland. They marched out in April, heading toward the capitol. Count Janusz went ahead of the army. Meanwhile, King Otger’s brother, Sulistryj, rounded his armies in support of his brother, as well as the armies of England.
On the 21st of October, Count Janusz entered Krakow and went past the guards. He made an attempt on the life of King Otger, but the loyal and brave Duke Powel of Rzepin saved the life of the king. Janusz was captured from his attempt just as the Polish armies defeated his army outside of the city. Thus the count was captured, and the rebels defeated. The civil war ended there, but things were still growing unstable in the realm.
Alas, the king grew ill further through the winter, his Consumption worsening. His condition grew dire, and his physician was unable to cure him, only ease his woes. Duke Drobomir was expecting to be in line for the throne. Instead, as his last act, Otger declared his brother Sulistryj would become king in his place. Duke Drobomir was insulted by this act, and as the king was dying, he quickly made himself the head of House Renart with his own cadet branch, the House of Glogow.
King Otger died in June of 1217, at the age of 13. Meanwhile, Drobomir began a new faction to install himself as King of Poland…

Emperor Sulistryj ‘the Wend’ of West-Slavia

Though the fox dies, rising from the ashes will be a mighty dragon of the east.
Sulistryj II (June 5th, 1206 - September 10th, 1283), known as “the Young”, the “Confessor”, but most notably “the Wend”, was the King of Poland and Pomerania from 1217, and the eventual Emperor of the West Slavs in 1255, until his death in 1283. Inheriting the throne from his older brother at the age of 11, Sulistryj ruled from an astounding 66 years, in which he united the west slavic kingdoms of Pomerania and Bohemia and unified the West Slavs into a single Wendish empire.
He inherited the throne of Poland after the death of his brother Otger. He was beforehand ruling as Duke of Veletia and the King of Pomerania. When he became King of Poland, he had little power over his kingdom, for his uncle, Duke Dobromir ‘the Handsome’ of Silesia, became his regent. The Duke had expected to take over the throne from his nephews, but instead, Sulistryj was crowned king, leading to a damper in his schemes.
Duke Dobromir, as the grandfather of the king, became the head of the household and quickly began to take more powers from the king, ruling in his place and becoming head of the House of Renart. With Otger II dead, and Sulistryj’s mother being Dobromir’s daughter, and the remaining Renarts dead, Dobromir declared the house of Renart extinct.
The Renarts are dead. Long live the House of Glogow!
This went against the will of Sulistryj, who stripped Dobromir of much of his regnal powers. Dobromir threatened rebellion in 1221, seeking to claim the crown of Poland for himself. He schemed to kill his grandson, hoping to put his own direct son, also named Dobromir, onto the throne.
Dobromir proceeded to try and kill the young king when he was studying at the University of Krakow. The attempt was quickly discovered and thwarted by Duke Powel of Rzepin, once again loyal to the king as spymaster and bodyguard.
The following year, Sulistryj was finally coronated as he reached the age of 16. There, King Sulistryj II announced himself as the “first of the House of Glogow” in spite of his grandfather. He took over the Renart dynasty and disinherited his grandfather, destroying his son’s claims to the Kingdom of Poland. But still he schemed, as he knew it could be restored if he took the throne.
A house divided against itself shall not stand!
To ensure confidence in his rule, Sulistryj pressed his bassal Czcibor’s claim to the Duchy of Ostfalen in 1222, and then married Maria of Norway. He would win the duchy, taking it from the Emperor of Germany at the time.
However, not all were confident in the rule of King Sulistryj, as Duke Dobromir continued to plot against his grandson. Count Alexander Kujawski rebelled against the king in 1229, but he was swiftly defeated and executed for his crimes. King Sulistryj proved to his grandfather that he was not willing to mess around. Dobromir tried to flee as the remaining rebellious counts were imprisoned, but he was captured.
Dobromir was imprisoned, and by coercion was forced to give up his claims to Poland, and then was disinherited and dethroned from Silesia. Out of compassion, Sulistryj spared his grandfather, as the chronicler wrote in “The History of the Wends” the following:
“King Sulistryj declared, ‘The Renarts have died, but the blood of Glogow will not be severed. You shall have a place in my house, until the end of your days. As it is, I rule as a son under your blood.’”
Thus Dobromir would remain in Krakow as a servant of his grandson, until the end of his days in 1232, where he died from drinking. Thus his legacy, despite his reportedly loving nature (despite his treachery, he did care for his grandsons as they grew up fatherless) he was still viewed as a traitor and usurper. Thus he has become a figure of plays and songs in the West-Slavic culture. His most prominent appearance, and basis of much fiction, was in the “Song of Renart” in which he was portrayed as a scheming traitor.
During this time, legend spread that King Sulistryj had slain a dragon. He gave into the story, proclaiming himself a mighty dragon slayer and that he, too, would slay the enemies of the Poles. This brought him great praise throughout the land.
The following year, 1232, Queen Maria would die in childbirth as she gave birth to her daughter Jadwiga. She had three children with Sulistryj. King Sulistryj held a funeral for both her and his grandfather, mourning their loss. The same year, King Sulistryj would remarry Rognfrithr of Denmark. She would birth his eldest son Dalimir in 1234, and Dobrogost in 1237.
Now King Sulistryj was well read in the histories of Poland. Though he knew was of German descent, he began to read of the Wendish tribes of Germany many centuries prior. He remembered that once his family had held titles in Northern Germany. He began to see himself as a great unifier of his house’s ancestral claims, and the claims of the west slavs. He also believed the Holy Roman Emperor was a threat to his power over the region. Therefore, Sulistryj grew a vision of a Wendish Empire, of German and Pole, to secure his realm.
You were useful, Teutonic Knights. However, I have a mighty need to unite the West Slavs!
He declared war against the Teutonic Order in 1240 as he recaptured the Duchy of Pomerania. The Grandmaster was defeated at the Battle of Szczytno in 1241, and King Sulistryj II saw victory a few months later in January of 1242. The same year, King Sulistryj invaded Anhalt and captured it, fighting Kaiser George’s for the duchy and ultimately defeating him on November 6th of 1245.
Two years would pass, as Sulistryj began building castles and fortresses across Poland and in particular Krakow. Then in 1247 he invaded the duchy of Pomeralia, held by the Teutonic Knights. He would capture Grandmaster Ekbert’s son Warren at the Battle of Gydnia and lead the Teutons to once again losing land to the Poles. The Teutons were driven completely out of the Pomeranian lands.
King Sulistryj would claim himself as the proper Duke of Bohemia and Moravia, as they were once West Slavic holdings, as well as Duke of Meissen. He made an alliance with the King of Hungary, the Emperor of Francia, and the King of England, to take on the much larger and vast Holy Roman Emperor. Kaizer George had conducted diplomacy with King Sulistryj II prior, and so felt betrayed by the king as he invaded central Germany and Bohemia in 1250. King Venceslav of Croatia came to the assistance of the Kaizer. This began what chroniclers called the War of the Wend.
Hopefully the Pope doesn't bother to check the actual historical claims over this... He doesn't need to know what the King may or may not have made up. ;)
Sulistryj led the Polish armies by himself and first attacked northern Bohemia while the emperor tried to attack Francia. The English and Polish armies raided throughout Bohemia. They would be confronted by King Venceslav at Unicov on May 4th of 1252, who attacked the English armies, but the Poles came to the defense of the English and defeated the Croatians, who fled.
Prague was overtaken by the Poles and English as Kaiser George finished defeating a rebellion near his capitol. The German forces marched into central Bohemia, with their army being led by the Kaizer himself. On the 24th of July in 1254, the Germans and Croatians faced the French, Polish, and English forces at the First Battle of Prerov, leading to a very close battle. King Peter IV of England managed to change the fate of the battle with his longbowmen routing the Germany cavalry, allowing the Polish cavalry to break through the German ranks.
There would be a few losses. The Poles lost a battle to the Croatians at Brno, and the English and French lost engagements at Leipzig in the same year.
A second full engagement happened outside of Stribro on the 3rd of November. The Polish forces used the Mze River to fortify their position, routing the Germans once again. The Polish armies wintered there, while the French and English wintered southward of the city. During this time, the Livonian Knights came to the assistance of the German emperor. They moved through the winter towards Prerov to try and retake the city. The defenders fell, and the Livonians moved into the castle.
In February the Polish forces came to the defenses of city of Prerov. initiating the Second Battle of Prerov. They would find themselves suddenly ambushed by a hidden German force, led by the Kaizer, who attacked the outnumbered Poles. However, the French and English troops arrived a week later as the Polish forces held their ground in the castle. With their defense, King Sulistryj managed to push back the Livonians and Germans, forcing them to route, leading to a Polish victory on the 16th of February.
A final battle took place outside of Prague as the Polish forces began besieging the city. The allied forces of Germany, Croatia, and Livonia faced off against the Polish, the French, and the English. The Battle of Prague was close, with King Sulistryj II being injured in the battle. However, as he recovered, he learned that the Germans routed, and that the city of Prague surrendered to his forces. The Polish had won.
And so, a dragon rises from the ashes of the fox.
The Treaty of Prague (July 24th, 1255) led Kaizer George to concede the lands of Bohemia and Messien to King Sulistryj II, and that he would be recognized as the king of those lands. Pope Honorius II came to the city in August to crown King Sulistryj as the Emperor of the Wends.
Peace was not long, as the Emperor went to defeat the King of Galicia-Volhynia in the same year and made him swear fealty to his power as King.
For his act of uniting the Western Slavic kingdoms, Sulistryj began to be known as “The Wend”, and legends spread of his great victory. This followed him south toward Jerusalem during the 5th crusade as the Polish armies fought the Ayyubids, but ultimately saw defeat in the crusade.
In 1272, to consolidate his realm, Emperor Sulistryj subjugated Grandmaster Klukis ‘the Leper’ of the Teutonic Order and forced him to become a vassal.
The emperor in his old age.
The rest of Emperor Sulistryj’s reign was relatively peaceful. He was known for his pious works and had his chroniclers write “The History of the Wends” to solidify his dynasty’s power over the region. He also built many castles and hosted a grand tournament. The Duke of Frisia did try to kill the Emperor, as he once was the King of Bohemia before it was invaded. However, this was thwarted. His second eldest son, Dobrogost, would die of Smallpox in 1283. However, with the usage of primogeniture law (put into effect by decree of the emperor), succession remained safe.
Emperor Sulistryj would die in his sleep on the 10th of September, 1283. He had a long and successful reign, and would forever be immortalized as the Wendish King who reclaimed the ancestral lands of the Poles from the Germans.
And so, West-Slavia is born.
We end our chapter with a new house. The Renarts saw their last ruler in Otger II, leaving the dynasty in shambles. And though the new House of Glogow was born in the same treachery of the Fox of Renart, it would find itself becoming ferocious and noble through the reign of Emperor Sulistryj!
Emperor Sulistryj's rebranded CoA: \"As cunning as a fox, as fearsome as a dragon.\"
End of Part 2. The Renart dynasty currently holds many duchies within the HRE, but lost Zaphoriza. It remains it's most powerful in the West-Slavic Empire.

2024.05.20 07:33 Vyrefrost Is there any actual counterplay to this dark strategy?

My opponent rushed research as a pure dark culture, unlocked up to the max tier tome that allows ressurecting all units of undead. Of course he has major race changed to undead, now every fight he simply hides his ruler in his capitol with a spell jammer. Has his hero armies (all with the pheonix ressurect trait in dark with infinite uses) and casts mass ressurection every few turns in combat. Since he spawns a ton of trash zombies he gets the dark trait for casting points when a unit dies so he never runs out of that spell.
The only success I have had at all is camping my units on corpses all fight so the rez won't work, but there's just too many to deal with.

Nexus Pro X Barrel Mod (tutorial & some testing)
Hey, y'all, I wanted to upgrade the seals and barrel to my Nexus Pro X. I was trying to decide between all these different tube sizes and materials. While I was considering the 17/32 brass, I decided to take a serious look at the internals. I took the blaster apart, broke out the ruler, and started making a rough CAD version of the little plastic coupler with the key-shaped seal and the o-ring connecting to the included aluminum barrel. Here's everything I found:
TL:DR - Sand/drill out the inside of the plastic chamber that's screwed down so that it can tightly fit a 17/32" OD brass tube, then spread out the end of it so when darts are fed through, they don't clip. Push the 17/32 barrel down enough so it doesn't get in the way of the plunger tube inserting itself into the O-ring, and you're golden for an accurate, high-efficiency springer. This worked better than 13mm ID aluminum at the same barrel length. I didn't cut the barrel, so it now has a 12" 17/32" OD brass barrel.
First, the included aluminum barrel and the plastic chamber piece are both 13mm ID. They sit very flush internally, hence the practicality and ease of using a longer 13mm ID barrel. This is an excellent choice for an easy barrel upgrade (though I couldn't tell you the optimal barrel length). That being said, when I plugged the barrel and pulled the trigger, I found that the o-ring around the barrel is the weakest seal, and when under high pressure, that's the first seal to leak. If you want to use another 16mm OD/13mm ID longer barrel, look into ways to improve that seal.
Second, the keyhole o-ring is impressively good. I wasn't able to get that one to leak in any way.
On to experimentation... I bought an aluminum 16mm OD 13mm ID x 300mm tube and a 17/32 brass tube (along with a telescoping brass selection because I had an itch to try out a telescopic barrel). I wanted to empirically test the fit of each ID, the pressure required for the dart to shoot down each tube, and their distance.
Third, the comparison of the tube diameters. Methods: I used worker gen 3 bamboo darts (red) and the dart zone darts that came with the blaster. I did 3 tests; first, a blow test with my lungs (how scientific), second, a test where I created a seal with the chamber and the plunger tube mechanism and compressed the plunger to see how far the plunger moved before the dart popped out the end of each barrel (low velocity, slow compression, measuring the plunger distance). Lastly, I'd point the sealed mechanism down the hall and compress it with my hands simply to see if one tube shot a dart significantly farther than the other. For all 3 tests, I'd load the dart into the end of the foot-long tube and then make the seals. This way, I can ignore the lip between the plastic chamber and the metal tube. The length of each tube was the same (12" & 300mm).
Results: 13mm ID aluminum - With the worker darts, they were snug, not too tight, not too loose. Blowing down the pipe with my lungs showed a little pressure buildup behind the dart, then it budged and popped out the other end. This seems ideal for a minimal-effort mod, just like before. With the dart zone darts, the pressure buildup was less than the worker, so these might be ever-so-slightly smaller than the worker darts. For the second test, the worker and nexus darts just moved as the plunger moved, so there was little to no pressure buildup and probably minimal air leakage. I believe the dart exited when the plunger was a little past half way (? my memory is fuzzy on this one).
17/32" OD brass - The dart barely fit in the tube; the fit was very snug. The dart slid in well once the foam's front lip was in. When I tried a blow test, I could barely move the dart with all the force of my lungs. I'd like to think that I have pretty good lung pressure/strength because I used to be a singer. That being said, I didn't put everything I had into blowing the dart out. Blowing the dart zone darts and inserting them into the brass was easier. Next, I switched to the plunger, saving my lungs the effort. The exciting thing here is that the seals were good enough that pushing the plunger slowly was effective in building up the air pressure behind the dart until it exited the 12-inch barrel. More specifically, the plunger built up pressure; the dart would move a few inches and get stuck again, then the pressure would rise again and move the dart another few inches, and so on, until it popped out the end. This effect was more pronounced for the worker darts than the dart zone darts. The plunger had around 15% of the length of the plunger tube left before the dart popped out. If I'm right, that means that the pressure from the plunger tube and the seals is enough to overcome the friction of the tighter barrel. This is leading me to pick the 17/32" OD for my mod.
Comparing the hand-plunger-push firing distance between the 17/32" and 13mm tubes, the 17/32" tube consistently came out farther after a handful of attempts. I think this is because it took more work to push that foam dart down the tighter diameter tube, so there was more pressure, and that led to more velocity.
Onto the mod procedure: Given the plunger and seals were enough to withstand the pressure to fire a worker dart through a foot of 17/32 brass tubing with still some plunger space to spare, my decision was made. Back to the CAD model. The coupler was 13mm ID, so if I put the 17/32 brass right up to the chamber, I'd have the lip of the barrel to worry about. I decided that if I bore out the inside of the plastic chamber, I could nest the brass barrel inside. This way, when the dart is chambered, it's fed directly into the barrel. The plastic chamber for the dart would now function as the mounting point and seal for the barrel.
I wrapped a drillbit in sandpaper, put it on a drill driver, and sanded away at the inside of the plastic chamber piece. I did it very gradually, and it took a while. I also tried to jam in the brass tube because it would cut away at some of the plastic, leaving shavings behind and creating a step for the sanding bit to smooth out. There's probably a better way to do this if I had more tools, but I don't. End of story, the copper pipe was able to nest itself into the plastic chamber very tightly, effectively holding a seal and keeping the barrel in place. Slipping that plastic anywhere along the brass tube took a lot of force.
After getting the 17/32 barrel through the chamber, I expanded the end of the brass barrel to make it easier for darts to slide in. This was slight, mostly unnoticeable with my eyesight, but the effect was achieved. No darts were clipping their front edges when being fed into the barrel. The last step was getting the barrel to be flush at the entrance of the former chamber so that it wouldn't collide with the insert from the plunger tube. Done. After putting everything back together, it was clear that this was the most straightforward approach to modifying and maximizing gains. The 17/32" tube could be telescoped into a 9/16" brass tube that fits inside the original blaster tip without wiggle room.
The best part about this method is that it completely removed the second o-ring seal as an air leak. This is a win.
Now, I don't have a way to measure the dart's speed, so I couldn't tell you how fast they are, but now my darts have a distinct louder whooshing sound that they didn't have before the mod, and the blaster's accuracy is phenomenal. I've been out of the Nerf community for years, and I've been waiting to re-enter. I don't plan on aiming this thing at anyone or anything besides targets, cans, etc., so this is perfect for me.
I'd love to know your thoughts, and whether this is something you'd do to your nexus pro x!
Here's the CAD image of the copper barrel nested inside the plastic piece. The shape isn't exact, but it's all measured to scale.

2024.05.20 05:44 Steffy_Cookies I managed to write part of the lore of my world, its 14 pages and I'm only like 50% done 😔

Evergreen, a rather welcoming name. Perfect for a land full of calm, peace and beauty. Evergreen in this case is the name of a vast kingdom. This kingdom is an incredibly complicated but majestic land and its people as well. Now sit back, relax and enjoy as I tell you about Evergreen.
First of all, where did Evergreen come from? Well the most early evidence of anyone living here was over 8000 years ago though if you truly think about it it could be as far back as 50 000 years. You see, the oldest trace of civilization in the kingdom is a large ancient hotel in the center of Heatherlea. No other building outdated this and that record is still held up to this day. The actual date of foundation of the kingdom is completely unknown and absolutely no one can tell when it could ever be because of the incredibly vague amount of information on anything before the recorded history of Evergreen. Though not everyone is so clueless, one person may know the answer on the timeline and that is The One Hundred.
You may be asking who this One Hundred person is. He is the oldest person in Evergreen and supposedly some sort of God. Very little is known about him but all that is known is whoever this person is, they are the most powerful in the kingdom.
Now I think you’ve heard enough about the kingdom itself and the basics on it now why don’t we get to work on actually unraveling this massive mystery. But with so many things to explain, how can this ever have an order? Well that’s very easy to do, this is a catalog of everything to know on the topic of Evergreen. Let’s begin.
Cities of Evergreen
Evergreen is the main city of the kingdom, it is used as a capital as well as the largest megalopolis of the city. Though in Scriptorium, the language of Evergreen, they don’t have terms for city, megalopolis or metropolis. So to them everything is a settlement, village or town. In this kingdom the size of a village does not matter only its population and Evergreen having over 1 000 000 people living in it, it’s considered the largest village in the kingdom. Which is quite a fitting label for the capital of such a large kingdom. Though not only Heatherlea contains an important building. Evergreen has the Main Hall and Steffy’s Mansion, both constructions are very important because they contain Aletine. Aletine is a rare gem that will be explained later on but for now all you need to know on Aletine is that it is very rare and very precious. The buildings each have an arch constructed fully of this material.
The whispers of Evergreen
Not everyone in Evergreen is happy with what they know about the kingdom. Certain things are very secretive and though on the outside it seems like a perfect place it is shrouded in mystery and entangled in a web of unknown like a huge tapestry of mystery. The people of the villages are mostly happy with how everything is going except for one thing. They want to know more about the village’s origin. You see, Steffy, The One Hundred, Heathotel and Aletinian do not want too much information to escape into the public’s hands. A disquiet hums beneath the seemingly idyllic surface of Evergreen. Whispers flit through bustling marketplaces, hinting at an enigmatic past shrouded in secrecy. Kept under lock and key by Steffy and the other main powers of Evergreen, the population never ceases to speculate what they could be hiding. Is it a secret civilization before us? Or could it be that Aletine is the secret to the lost time? No matter what the citizens say not one word has been spoken by anyone in control. And there is a good reason behind all of that which will be explained later on.
Architecture and style of Evergreen and it’s settlements
A warped image of Evergreen is fabricated when you dig deeper than what’s on the idyllic surface of Evergreen. But the kingdom is still a majestic land. Its architecture is primarily biomimicry as the villagers are very connected to their surroundings and the flora that they share the world with. The respect for nature in Evergreen is reflected everywhere, in the architecture, in the culture, celebrations and many more subtle depictions. The style that the land has adopted over the millenia is a very calming one, they believe in living life to its fullest so the architects try to make things as pleasant to live in as possible in almost every way possible. You will never find any hostile architecture in the city as its capital status means that it must show a good example for the other settlements to follow. However, the pervasive calmness of Evergreen's architecture raises questions. Could this serene aesthetic be a deliberate ploy? Is biomimicry a way to mask the secrets hidden beneath the tranquil surface? The One Hundred, with their knowledge of the lost civilization and the interdimensional threat, may have a vested interest in maintaining this facade of idyllic peace. Steffy, with his atmosphirec gem of unknown origin, might also find solace in the calming influence of these biomimicry structures. No one can know for sure but until more is learned why not enjoy centuries of perfected design and let the peacefulness wash over you as you stroll through the markets and quiet neighborhoods of the town.
The rest of the settlements
Evergreen does not have that many large towns, only about 4 main ones, Evergreen, Azalea, Heatherlea and Islafield. Those main towns are surrounded by much smaller ones but the main focus is on the four towns above.
Islafield
Islafield is, as the name suggests, mostly for farming hence the ‘field” in its name. The town is near a lake also named Isla The lake is used for fishing as well as a way to water the crops of the town. This majestic town is the main source of nourishment for the entire kingdom with 60% of its land consisting of fields and crops. The kingdom contains 5.6 million inhabitants which is a vast amount of mouths to feed and according to the way Steffy wants to run the kingdom, everyone should have the same chance with life per se he just doesn’t want anyone to starve or die before their time that is the primary reason why he allowed Islafield to become such a large producer of food. He would usually want people to get their produce from the same town in which they live in though since he has 5.6 million people to feed he made the exception that Islafield can export its harvest to the other towns. Other than the beautiful fields of flowers and crops Islafield doesn’t really hold much interest in the eye of the population of Evergreen. Though it is considered the most naturally beautiful town in the kingdom, its beauty does not help it much with population, it has been on a decline ever since the vault of Aletine became public knowledge. Perhaps the Aletinians, a secretive cult entrusted with crafting tools made of Aletine, might hold knowledge about this strange and sudden decline. Despite the dwindling population, Islafield remains a vital part of Evergreen. However, its idyllic facade now masks a layer of intrigue, begging the question: is Islafield truly just a farming town, or is it a cornerstone in a larger, undisclosed operation of the Aletinians?
Heatherlea, a town of beauty and intrigue
Heatherlea, nestled in Evergreen's north, throbs with a unique energy. This bustling town transforms into the kingdom's prime tourist destination during warmer months, welcoming an influx of 700,000 visitors. The undeniable allure? The enigmatic Ancient Hotel, an 8000-year-old structure, the oldest human-made wonder in Evergreen. However, Heatherlea's charm extends beyond the Ancient Hotel.,underneath the ancient hotel hides a vault. The most secure place in the entire kingdom. Inside of that vault is a supply of Aletine. Since Aletine is only found in that singular spot underneath the hotel a vault was built around the mine to keep everyone out of there given how precious Aletine is.Other than its main attractions, its marketplace features the kingdom's tallest stand, showcasing the rare blue and orange Heatherberry. Yet, the exclusivity of these berries in Heatherlea raises questions. Found primarily in the south, their presence here seems curiously deliberate. Is it simply a marketing ploy, or could it be part of a larger scheme? Heatherlea's vibrancy and tourist appeal are undeniable, but a disquieting question lingers: is it a genuine haven, or a meticulously crafted facade designed to distract from the secrets buried beneath the surface?
Azalea, a town shrouded in floral mystery
Azalea is known for one reason, if you look closely at its name you will notice that it contains the name of a flower. Azalea is named after the rhododendron by the same name, Azalea. This specific flower only grows in the town for unknown reasons and once again the reason for the flower's appearance in this one part of the kingdom is gatekeeped by the main powers The One Hundred, Steffy with his atmosphirec gem, and the Aletinians, each with their vested interests in the mysteries of Evergreen, all seem particularly invested in keeping the reason for the Azalea's exclusivity under wraps. Intriguingly, Azalea attracts a disproportionate number of Aletine sellers, who use the flower's beauty to showcase their wares. Why this specific town, rather than a more prominent location? Could there be a connection between the Azalea's unique properties and the Aletine gem? The motives of the sellers remain shrouded in secrecy, adding another layer to the mysteries swirling around Azalea and deepen the mystery of Evergreen.
Shadows in Evergreen: Unveiling the Kingdom's Cults
Evergreen's power structure extends beyond the readily apparent figures like Steffy and The One Hundred. Shrouded in secrecy, a network of cults weaves its influence through the kingdom. While some, like the Aletinians, maintain a relatively benign presence, crafting tools from the enigmatic Aletine, others operate with a more veiled agenda. The Heathotels, shrouded in mystery themselves, stand out for their potential hostility. Their enigmatic purpose and unknown connection to the Aletinians, an exclusive society rumored to possess knowledge on the craftsmanship of Aletine weapons, fuel speculation about their true motives. Do they cover the Aletine's power for their own gain, or are they safeguarding Evergreen from a yet-unknown threat? The secrecy surrounding these cults casts a long shadow, leaving the question unanswered: are they guardians or hidden dangers lurking within the kingdom's idyllic facade? The Heathotels: Enigmatic guardians of the ancient stone The heathotels are a mostly harmless cult. They are in charge of the protection of the Ancient Hotel and are the only ones who have full access to the vault containing all the Aletine. They seem to worship the hotel itself and treat Aletine adorned objects with the same respect as they would do to Steffy himself. They are highly secretive with the reasons on why they respect the precious stone so much and what connection they seem to have with the ancient hotel. While the other power players, like The One Hundred and Steffy himself, strive to keep the Heathotels' activities shrouded, their efforts only heighten the intrigue. This raises the question, if the Heathotels are truly a benign force, why such a concerted effort to conceal their practices? The Heathotels' enigmatic presence throws a long shadow, leaving the question unanswered: are they protectors of the Aletine and the Ancient Hotel, or are they guardians of a far deeper secret? The Aletinians: Sworn Crafters of Aletine Wonders Among Evergreen's enigmatic factions, the Aletinians occupy a distinct position. Eschewing the rigid structure of traditional cults, they follow a oath instead of a set of rules. The specifics of this oath remain a closely guarded secret, fueling endless whispers and speculation. The Aletinians, as their name suggests, possess a unique bond with Aletine. Interestingly they do not worship the Aletine but instead they treat it with reverence, viewing it less as an object and more as a potent material. The true purpose of the Aletinians is to forge everything that is created out of Aletine. They are hand picked, allegedly to safeguard the kingdom's precious Aletine supply, to ensure the safety of the kingdom’s supply of this majestic gem they can only be of a certain sanity. Once again the villagers have their own theories, whispers abound about an Aletine-infused substance used in the selection process, a method to ensure only the "worthy" wield the gem's power.Though to be granted the incredible privilege of handling Aletine directly is very prestigious as only 30 people have the privilege of handling the precious Aletine. But many things are still unclear with them as well. Why do these artisans operate outside the Ancient Hotel, traveling all the way to Azalea to practice their craft? And why, despite their seemingly benign nature, does Steffy strive to keep them hidden from the public eye? The Aletinians remain a captivating enigma, their purpose and connection to Azalea hinting at a deeper role within Evergreen's veiled secrets. The Nevergreen: Shadows Reaching for Forbidden Power In stark contrast to the Aletinians, who utilize Aletine for crafting, stands the enigmatic Nevergreen cult. Driven by a sinister agenda, they seek to weaponize the gem's power, a truth known only to Steffy and The One Hundred. Whispers abound of their attempts to breach the Aletine mine's containment, a reckless act that some speculate triggered a deadly conflict, the War Of Gods, shrouded in secrecy. Steffy himself, it seems, remains unaware of the Nevergreen's potential role in this ancient war. He and The One Hundred instead attribute it to a nebulous embodiment of darkness. The Nevergreen also strive to make the deepest secrets of Evergreen public knowledge. They are the reason why the Aletine vault became known to the villagers of Evergreen. The One Hundred and Steffy tried to cover it up by saying that the villagers deserved to know the truth of where the Aletine came from. But in reality it was an elaborate plan birthed by the leader of the Nevergreen. The identity of the Nevergreen's leader is a captivating mystery. Villagers whisper of a connection to Steffy's ancient enemy, this enigmatic embodiment of darkness. They are also rumored to have connections to the mysterious interdimensional threat looming over the kingdom, a danger only The One Hundred seems fully aware of. This raises the question, if The One Hundred knows everything about Evergreen, why do they still remain passive? Are they truly guardians, or are they somehow entangled within the complex web woven by the Nevergreen?
Gleams of Forbidden light and beauty Aletine, gem of untold power Aletine, a captivating gem shrouded in mystery, sits at the heart of Evergreen's enigmatic power structure. Its existence fuels whispers, speculation, and a fierce struggle for control amongst the kingdom's secretive factions. Here, we delve into the mystery concerning this precious stone. First of all, what are the origins of Aletine? Evergreen's bustling streets are rife with speculation regarding Aletine's origins. Villagers, known for their colorful theories, theorize that it is a form of interdimensional material, arrived here at the mysterious cataclysmic event that destroyed everything. Rumors abound of a ripped veil between dimensions, spewing Aletine into Evergreen while leaving devastation in its wake. While most of these village tales are dismissed as mere flights of fancy, the recent revelation of the Aletine vault beneath the Ancient Hotel has given some credence to the notion of an extraordinary origin. However, the truth remains shrouded in secrecy. Only Steffy and the other powerful factions possess any concrete knowledge about Aletine's arrival in Evergreen. Unveiling Aletine: Myth and Reality Clash The truth behind Aletine shatters some village myths while confirming others. While not interdimensional as some theorized, the gem undeniably originates from beyond Evergreen's reality. Its arrival coincided with the cataclysmic event that reshaped the kingdom, a truth only The One Hundred truly understands. This revelation validates a part of the villagers' extravagant theories, a devastating event did occur. However, it disproves the notion of a dimensional tear bringing Aletine here. The gem's origins remain shrouded in secrecy, fueling speculation about the civilization it hailed from. Unveiling the Secrets of Aletine Aletine is the most precious and most protected thing in all of the kingdom. The amount of secrecy surrounding Aletine is almost enough to rival the secrecy surrounding The One Hundred. With so much secrecy surrounding the gem you might be wondering why it is such a big secret. Well as explained before Aletine is hidden under the ancient hotel, the oldest building in Evergreen. Located beneath the ancient hotel, the oldest structure in the kingdom, Aletine predates all other known resources. The exact date of its arrival remains locked away in the archives of The One Hundred, who possess the sole understanding of its properties. Historically, they reveal information only in dire circumstances to safeguard the kingdom. Steffy's mansion and the main hall boast massive Aletine arches, a testament to the gem's power: repelling dark energy and matter. Steffy had the arch built in his mansion after the battle with The Embodiment of Darkness. The gem releases an aura around it stopping anything that contains darkness from passing through whatever it is built in. The shape of the arch is also a key detail to securing the room at the maximum. The arch shape lets the aura bounce off of it and spread to the rest of the mansion but in smaller quantities. Steffy and The One Hundred are the only two who possess this key information about Aletine. Aletine's potential extends beyond this defensive ability. Could it hold further, untapped properties? The possibility of weaponizing this powerful gem remains a question with potentially far-reaching consequences. Aletine’s connections Aletine is not only known to Steffy and The One Hundred. The public knows about this gem as well but so do all the cults in Evergreen. The Heathotels’s archives contain the largest collection of knowledge on Aletine other than what Steffy and The One Hundred know. A single, crucial truth about Aletine's connection to an interdimensional entity eludes even Steffy. Only The One Hundred and the enigmatic leader of the Heathotels are privy to this knowledge. Aletine is connected to some other worldly being. Since its roots can be traced to outside of Evergreen’s world, there must be some other civilisation that made contact with the gem before the Great End. Another thing to take into perspective is that Aletine is one of the oldest substances in the world. Its age could suggest a lost civilization predating the cataclysmic "Great End." Could this civilization have been the first to harness Aletine's power? The gem's connection to another world fuels this speculation. Aletine has undoubtedly passed through countless hands over millennia. Are the Aletinians, with their oath of secrecy, truly in control? Or is Steffy merely a pawn in a larger game? Perhaps a hidden organization, like a rogue faction within The One Hundred or a descendant of the lost civilization, manipulates events from the shadows. The question of who truly controls Aletine lies at the heart of Evergreen's mysteries. Aletine’s potentials Aletine reigns supreme as Evergreen's most potent gem, rivaled only by the enigmatic atmospheric gem. It has many magical properties,Its most celebrated property being the fact that it can repel dark energy and dark matter which came in handy during the War Of Gods. It can also be used for a multitude of different things. One of the most outstanding creations with Aletine is the arches in the Main hall and Steffy’s mansion. They are guarding the archives which contain precious and secretive documents on Evergreen as well as artifacts that have not been exposed to the public. With so many possible uses for Aletine only a select few are actually used. The Aletinians have been told only 6 times in the last century to forge weapons out of Aletine. With those orders coming straight from Steffy himself. With the looming interdimensional threat it is highly likely that a war will start in the next millennium. Who will be the 2 sides is still a mystery. Steffy is also worried about a rebellion, Aletine has caused unrest in the villages which have caused small riots and raids of the libraries and archives yet all of them end in failure. It is another very likely possibility that a civil war will start in the next few hundred years. The main powers may be aware of this and are preparing to defend themselves if this possibility becomes a reality. Yet, the question lingers: with Aletine's apparent defensive capabilities and no documented harm to Evergreen, why such secrecy? Are the powers hiding something more sinister? Could they be preparing for a threat far greater than a civil war, a threat hinted at by the whispers of an interdimensional entity connected to Aletine? Lempty, a gem of mysterious beauty Lempty gems, with their captivating light blue hue and characteristically rough, quadrilateral edges, are a ubiquitous presence in Evergreen. Lempty is not much of a very interesting gem. It is mostly used for decorative purposes and not very much in weapon smithing.Though it has a lack of properties, It has very famous use, Steffy himself has a 5000 year old Lempty encrusted egg. It is originally made out of the bedrock of Evergreen, Eslud, with a few pieces of Lempty embedded in it’s surface. Even with such a useless facade with no redeeming qualities, it is still widely used in architecture especially in the northern villages to portray the cold and the snow that those villages usually experience. Lempty can be found in almost every mine in Evergreen, since it is very widespread it has a very small value. Compared to Aletine it is 7 000 000x less valuable. Since it is so cheap it can be found in almost every piece of jewelry and almost every building contains even a bit of Lempty. Rumors of Lempty's untapped potential for healing pique curiosity. Though currently as mere folklore, such mystery raises intriguing questions. Is Lempty truly just a decorative gem, or is there more to its story? Perhaps Steffy's undying devotion to the Lempty egg holds the key to unlocking its secrets. The parasitic presence of Lempty throughout Evergreen hints at a potential significance waiting to be discovered. Eslud, the foundation of Evergreen Eslud reigns supreme as the most common stone in Evergreen. It literally forms the foundation of the world, as the very mines themselves are carved from this versatile material. Eslud is used most commonly in construction since it can resist high temperatures and immense amounts of pressure. The only interesting property of Eslud is that no matter how much pressure is on it, it stays flexible allowing for buildings made out of it to withstand high winds and earth-shattering quakes. It is also the stone of choice when making heirlooms since it can withstand so much damage keeping the heirloom good as new for generations. The most famous example of this is the 3000 year old Eslud box that has been passed down as the Retule family heirloom. More than just a common stone, Eslud embodies the resilience and unwavering spirit that lies at the heart of Evergreen itself. Atmospheric gem, a power of nature The atmospheric gem is the true rarest gem in Evergreen as it is only found in one place, on the tip of Steffy’s magical staff. It has the power to control the atmosphere hence the name atmospheric gem, thanks to its power to control the atmosphere, Steffy chose this gem as his crystal of choice to harness its magical properties. Though Steffy never found this gem in nature since it is a mix between Aletine, Lempty and Celusi. The exact process of how the Atmospheric gem came into existence is still a closely guarded secret with only Steffy and The One Hundred knowing how the gem was fabricated. The exact origins of the Atmospheric Gem remain a closely guarded secret. While Steffy acknowledges the possibility of finding such a gem naturally in a faraway corner of the universe, he downplays the chances of it existing on Evergreen. It takes intense heat and pressure to let it form correctly and there were many failed attempts to create Atmopsheric with the failures themselves playing a crucial role in the final product. It is quite obvious what Atmospheric does, however, how it achieves this control remains a mystery. Steffy and The One Hundred keep the details shrouded in secrecy. This secrecy fuels speculation: what truly powers the gem, and what drove Steffy to dedicate over a century to crafting it for a seemingly limited ability to control the weather? Could there be a grander purpose behind its creation, a power yet to be revealed? Celusi, the geriatric gem of Tyrlosuh Celusi is one of the rarest gems in the kingdom rivaled only by Aletine. It can only be found in Heatherlea, usually near a patch of heatherberry; studies have shown that the heatherberry benefits from the light residue that emanates from the Celusi. The major families of Evergreen usually have a reserve of Celusi to pay the more hefty fines as well as create new heirlooms for each generation. Unlike the highly sought-after Aletine, Celusi possesses no outwardly magical properties, at least to the casual observer. Steffy and the other major powers seem largely uninterested in the gem. Yet, a single, magnificent purple Celusi, a rarity in its own right, resides with the Tyrlosuh family, one of Evergreen's wealthiest and most prominent lineages, containing almost 250 current living descendants and over 10 generations are currently in the lineage which means they’re are 140 year old people in the family. Botinelosi, is the oldest person in the family standing at 164 years old and is the first person to ever use Celusi in the art of crafting. He stumbled across it while mining in the outskirts of Heatherlea near the village where the family originated, affectionately also named Tyrlosuh. Steffy originally seized control of the mine where Botinelosi found it. The quick seizure of the mine raised suspicion on the properties of Celusi. Steffy eventually allowed Botinelosi to have full control over the mine. Rumors spread through the kingdom like a wildfire, Botinelosi's silence on the matter, coupled with the Tyrlosuh family's secrecy, fuels the rumors. What truth are they hiding? Could Celusi's beauty mask a more significant purpose, a power that rivals even Aletine's? Polompty, a concoction of nature Polompty, a breathtaking gem with an allure unlike any other, shimmers with the colors of Lempty, accented by veins of Eslud embedded deep within its interior. It also comes from the same location as Celusi, near the Tyrlosuh village. By taking its location into consideration it may lead you to believe that Polompty is simply an underdeveloped version of Celusi, which is what Botinelosi originally believed when first discovering it in the abandoned Reveras mine right near the Tyrlosuh mine. Polompty was originally put under extensive studies to discover more information on it, all the studies ended up coming with one answer: Polompty is a marvel of nature, a harmonious blend of 6 different stones and gems. Which explains the presence of Eslud in its core as well as the colors of Lempty. Since it has such a strange yet intriguing beauty it captivated crafters's curiosity which caused an influx of its use to fabricate jewelry. However when Lomi, daughter of Botinelosi, became head of the family the mine was closed off to the public and all sales of Polompty stopped causing shockwaves in the gem market, sparking the infamous Polompty rush. The Polompty rush, a desperate search After Lomi shut down the mine, the supply of Polompty slowly trickled to a stop. Lomi's aged father, Botinelosi, allowed his son Bisel to sell the remaining stones stored in the Tyrlosuh archives. With the Polompty market back on its feet, the family had satiated the market’s hunger. However, Lomi had a different vision for the family's future. She declared her son, Utigo, as her heir, bypassing Bisel's claim. Bisel sadly accepted to avoid being ostracized by the family ending the power struggle for the leadership of the Tyrlosuh lineage. The gem market, unable to sway Lomi, eventually turned its attention elsewhere. It wasn't long before the Retule family, sworn rivals of the Tyrlosuh family, discovered a small grove of Polompty near their Heatherberry fields. With the supply restored, markets everywhere flourished and the Polompty rush ended. This new source rekindled the market for three years, until this supply dwindled as well. Now, with both sources depleted and demand still high, a question lingers: Why did Lomi close the mine, causing economic turmoil? Does she possess knowledge of a hidden danger associated with Polompty, or is there a deeper secret to this extraordinary gem's origin? Families of Evergreen, cults in disguise Tyrlosuh family, from gemstone guardians to fallen shadows The Tyrlosuh family is the largest and wealthiest family in the entire history of the kingdom, they originate from Heatherlea and their family founder is Botinesoli and his loving wife Temorla Tyrlosuh who had 2 children, Lomi Tyrlosuh and Bisel Tyrlosuh. Bisel was originally the next heir for the head of the Tyrlosuh family but after Lomi took power as the first heir she decided to declare her son Ugito as the next heir. Bisel accepted his fate to never be head of the family to avoid being exiled by Lomi. With her decision she completely bypassed Bisel’s bloodline from the lineage, completely extinguishing any chance for any of his descendants to ever ascend to the title of head of family. Though this has never been done in the family, Lomi received backlash from both family members as well as the public as this was seen as an unforgivable act of treason to her own blood. With her destructive decision she removed over 30 descendants from having the last name Tyrlosuh. Bisel’s new family line, the Bisenoty, decided to declare a familial war against the Tyrlosuh. Sparking the Biserlosuh familial war. The Biserlosuh Familial war After Bisel declared a familial war against the Lomi, the population of Azalea and the, affectionately named, Tyrlosuh town, started to pick sides. At the time Bisel had the most support by the villagers considering Lomi was the cause of the Polompty rush. Which brought both fortune and misfortune, and had threatened to burn villager’s houses unless they followed her orders as their new leader, which sowed distrust between the populace. The war was not particularly disastrous since it was between 2 armies of around 400 people. Though the amount of lives lost caused an impact in the surrounding area and sent a shockwave in the gem trade market since the Tyrlosuh family were the largest exporters of stones and gems. Both families ended up losing a combined 86 members, 21 from the Bisenoty family leaving only 13 people left and the rest were from the Tyrlosuh family. This disaster would leave over 1300 civilians injured and over 700 dead, it also caused the partial destruction of the town of Tyrlosuh and the complete destruction of the Bisenoty town. Though not only the family’s town were left in ruin, entire neighborhoods of Azalea were utterly ravaged thanks to the supporters of the 2 families. With Evergreen on the brink of a civil war, Steffy himself had to step in and end the war. Though his attempts failed and the war continued for another 2 years before Lomi and Bisel decided to end the battle for the safety of the kingdom as more and more supporters began to sprout and begin fighting in the other towns. With Evergreen on the brink of absolute and utter chaos, Evergreen’s main entrances were shut down and the capital went into lockdown as protests arose, those protests leading into more chaos with the 2 sides arguing and fighting right outside the Main Hall. The Tyrlosuh archives were burned, the Tyrlosuh and the Reveras mines caved in in certain parts and the majority of the Tyrlosuh made jewelry was either sold to another crafter or destroyed entirely sending hundreds of thousands of objects into the Gray Realm causing a widespread jewelry shortage as well as worries on the safety of the Gray realm. After the war ended the Tyrlosuh family was fined 400 pieces of Celusi and their entire Polompty fortune was seized by the Heathotels. Downfall of the Tyrlosuh After the end of the Biserlosuh war, the Tyrlosuh family lost control over the Polompty mine, the majority of their Celusi hoard, their archive was burned to the ground and their hometown was partially in ruins. With Lomi’s dictatorship over the family and her undying hate for the Bisenoty family as well as the Retule family, she forced the Bisenoty family, which was ravaged by the war, to merge back into the Tyrlosuh family name, unifying the rivals and stopping any further familial civil wars from happening. Bisel decided to step down from the lineage and instead become the first person in the history of Evergreen to not be part of a family, whether it is big or small. With Bisel now gone Lomi had no one to challenge her in her dictatorship of the Tyrlosuh family. Until Botinelosi, founder of the family, decided that the lineage had embarrassed itself enough and removed Lomi as ruler. But Lomi refused and since Botinelosi was in his early 160s he couldn’t fight back against her and allowed her to continue her rule. The public had already lost interest in the family and was now fully against it destroying any hope of any new ruler to repair the damage caused by Lomi’s reckless decisions. The Tyrlosuh family, once revered, now exists as a cautionary tale. Their fall from grace serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked ambition and the devastating consequences of family discord. However, whispers still linger. Is Lomi truly broken, or is she biding her time, waiting for the opportunity to reclaim her lost glory? And what secrets lie buried beneath the ashes of the Tyrlosuh archives? The answers to these questions may hold the key to the Tyrlosuh family's redemption or their complete downfall. Retule family, fruit fanatics or fantasy fighters? The Retule family stands as a beacon of peace in the often-turbulent world of Evergreen. Unlike their gem-obsessed counterparts, the Tyrlosuh, the Retules view conflict with a deep aversion. Witnessing the devastation of the Biserlosuh War solidified their pacifistic stance. They famously disarmed themselves, donating all their Aletine weaponry to the Aletinians. But they still needed to make a profit, so their founder, Ruservi, created the Reveras mine right near the future area for the Tyrlosuh mine. Ruservi was the first person to explore and exploit that part of the kingdom since it was usually used as a tourist attraction for the rest of the towns to visit the lovely northern flora. He eventually discovered a cave which led into a large cluster of Celusi, which eventually led him to create the Reveras mine to mine out this new source of gems for the kingdom. After extensive testing his scholars noticed that Celusi had positive benefits to Heatherberry and enhanced its growth which led Ruservi to found the largest Heatherberry farm in the history of the kingdom. He led the family into a fruit empire for 140 years until he grew too old to lead the family anymore, at his 178th cycle he decided that his son Rymo would become the new leader of the Retule family. This decision came after the end of the Biserlosuh war which started a large change of ruler in many sections of the kingdom, families were giving way to new rulers and the cults were discussing the leaderships. Steffy decided to join in the massive leadership change adding new managers into the departments and a new Head Librarian into the archives. By the end of the leadership changing era Ruservi had already been ruler of the Retule family for a few months, during those few months he had commissioned the construction of a new town for the Retule family and everyone else who wanted to live there. Though this new project was a cover up for a more devious plot, he was in fact commissioning the Aletinians to forge Lempty weapons for his descendants, which caused distrust in the family after news of this plan came into the light. This revelation cast a shadow over the family's pacifistic ideals. Was Ruservi preparing for a war he alone foresaw? Or was there another, undisclosed reason for the clandestine weapon production? These questions continue to plague the Retules, a family caught between their commitment to peace and the shadows of a hidden agenda. Gatosi family, shadows of the kingdom Hidden within the bustling kingdom of Evergreen lies the Gatosi family, shrouded in secrecy and wielding a power unseen. The Gatosi are in charge of the safety of the archives which explains their secrecy and low popularity amongst the populace of Evergreen. They do not have any famous appearance nor have they ever participated in a war since their founding 3000 years ago. Their founder, Guvn, created the family after he noticed the amount of hate that the concealed archives would get from the public. Forever haunted by the everlasting threat of misuse in the archives. He decided to found a new family that would be in charge of protecting these archives and maintaining their secrecy. But considering the fact that Guvn founded the family over 3000 years ago it means he is long dead, he was 343 at the time of his death which leaves him as the longest serving Head Of Family in the history of the kingdom. They originally were treated with hate because the archives were seen as a threat thousands of years ago. But nowadays the archives are a staple in the culture of Evergreen. Captivating the public’s knowledge on what could be hiding in those labyrinth-like buildings. Now, nestled away in the secluded neighborhoods of Islafield, the Gatosi cultivate their unique Yoern vegetables, rumored to enhance mental clarity, a necessity for navigating the labyrinthine archives. While whispers of their reclusive nature follow them, the Gatosis family silently fulfills their role, the shadows of the kingdom their only companions. Fruits of Evergreen, source of nourishment and mystery Heatherberry The humble heatherberry is a ubiquitous presence in Evergreen's northern villages, especially Heatherlea, its namesake. This incredibly common fruit harbors a rare variant, the purple and orange heatherberry found only in one singular farm in Heatherlea. The farm’s owner has kept their identity to protect this incredibly rare variant of heatherberry. The whispers of Evergreen have always condensed into a wide array of conspiracy theories, in this case they believe that the heatherberry is a mystical edible stone that was brought to the kingdom from the forgotten civilization before Evergreen. Despite repeated debunking. A plethora of people still believe that this outlandish theory is true. The purple and orange heatherberry has been widely known for its rarity but also for its properties. The purple and orange heatherberry has been subject to multiple tests, including Eshwar Mestec’s famous 7676AGE experiments. Controversy and mystery cling to the heatherberry, yet it remains the kingdom's beloved snack, a daily indulgence for an impressive 96% of the population.

2024.05.20 02:40 SnooDoggos3848 University of Toronto First Year Engineering Guide

Hi everyone, current 2T7 ECE here. I thought I would make a quick post on a guide to first year engineering, listing out all the stuff I wish I knew before coming to university. The first semester portion is applicable to all engineering disciplines, the second semester portion would be more useful to ECEs, T1, Indie and Mechs.
First Semester Courses:
MAT186: This was by far the hardest course for me and the entire cohort (C average). Even though I knew all the concepts of the course beforehand (through AP Calc BC and A-levels) this was my worst course. The reason for this was because the course focuses on testing theory (your understanding of the nitty gritty) rather than on computation. My advice for this course would be to make sure you work on written hw with friends (impossible to do alone), and do every single tutorial worksheet (exam questions are exactly like tutorial worksheets). Sean Upall was the course coordinator, and even thought I didnt like his lectures, I think it prepares you the most for the final exam.
MAT188: This was my favourite course even though it probably took up most of my time. This course was completely new to me, which is why I took a lot more time understanding the Pre class essentials. There is a lot of "theory" in this course, which will take a while to learn, so spend a good amount of time understanding and learning the PCEs. One reccomendation to make this process of learning faster is to watch 3blue1browns essence of linear algebra series. Watch the video corresponding to the upcoming weeks concepts before reading the PCEs. Written HW was hard (not as hard as calculus) so do it with friends, the gateway exams are a bit of a joke since you can retake them, and if you practice them enough you realize theres a pattern in the answers. Midterms and Final exams actually test at an appropriate level, so as long you have a strong grasp of the concepts you will be fine. If professor Cameillia is teaching the course go for her lectures, she is by far the best (she is also the course coordinator).
CIV100: This was a very interesting course, it needs a lot of practice of past papers. Literally you'll need to grill through past papers in order to succeed in this course. The final exam is such that there are 5 questions and you have 30 mins per question. Each quesition is quite hard which makes the exam very time pressured, so again PRACTICE. The quizzes in this course are dependant on your lecturer, some profs give easy quizzes whilst others give hard ones, this is out of your control. In my opinion the best lecturer was Professor Merjan, she was probably the best lecturer I've had in my time here at UOFT. The only problem is that she teaches the course in a different timeline than other profs, so you probably cant change lecturers cuz quiz material is different between different profs.
APS110: As an ECE I still dont know why I had to take this course. Overall, it was taught quite well. Scott Ramsay is the best lecturer for this course, although basically everything he says is already in the textbook (which is why I did not attend lectures). The Textbook is more than enough for this course. The Final exam for our batch was quite difficult compared to past year exams, but I think I did well because I practiced quite a few past papers.
APS111: Contraty to public opinion, I thought this was one of the most fun and useful courses in first semester. I had quite a sh*t team, but managed. Make sure you look at the rubrics for each assignment before you start writing. Also the way this course works is that you have to submit individual and group assignments which are essentially these long documents. Because they are doucments, they are marked in a qualitative way as there is no right answer per se. Make sure you bombard the person who is correcting the assignment with questions so that you nail exactly what they are looking for.
Second semester courses
MAT187: This is calculus two and it was much better than Calc one. Professor Camelia was the course coordinator, so just like MAT188 the exams were all at an appropriate level. Written HWs again requires help from friends. I mainly studies for this course using the PCEs, and practiced the tutorial worksheets. Some of my friends used the textbook, but I dont think its really required. The best prof for this course is any lecture seciton containing Camelia.
MIE100: For some reason, our year was probably the first year in a long time where the exams for this course were not insanely difficult. They were all at an appropriate level, apparently because they wanted to increase the number of people going into mech eng 💀💀. I found professor Sinclair to be quite good, a lot of people liked Howard Ho as well (trust in Howard Ho). The Wiley plus questions are useful to do to keep up with concepts, but the difficulty of the questions in wiley was way harder than the exam questions, so I wouldnt say its a must to do them ethically.
APS105: Great course. If you have a background in coding, this course will be a breeze at least up until reading week, you'll have to spend more time on it after that. The course is such that 30% of your grade is from labs, so make sure you do them well. the other 70 percent is from exams, which are at an appropriate level once again. Just make sure that you do a lot of past papers as practice. Professor Emara is by far the best, and is amazing if you are new to programming. If you have experience, reading the textbook (Snefru) is more than enough to understand the content.
ECE110: In our batch, while I didnt find the exams difficult, the batch's average after the second midterm was about 51%. After the final exam, they curved the course up quite a bit, I think the average is now a B, also an easy final exam helped out. The first half of this course is more theoretical (electrostatics and electromagnetism) and the second half is circuit analysis. Make sure you do all the Wiley Plus questions for this course, as sometimes they ask the same questions in exams. All the lecturers for this course are pretty bad, but Professor Mojahedis notes are legendary (in my opinion), other people didnt like them because it explained the concepts using proofs. Other profs notes would just state the formula.
APS112: Continuation of APS111. My team was much better this time. Same advice for this course, as APS111. Also make sure you're on top of things because it goes by much quicker in this course as there are way more assignments. Nothing really much to say to be honest, the midterm was a bit screwed up because there are multiple right answers and you have to choose the best one.
Overall for grades, dont worry too much. As long as you get around an 80 for exams and get all the free marks for assignments you'll be on track for at least an 80+ in the course. Remember that university isnt just about studies though, try and indulge into extracurriculars and be social.
Extracurriculars:
Design teams: UOFT has a plehora of design teams for you to choose from. Some design teams are better than others, but the only way that you will actually get deep into the design teams is if you put in the work. Beg leads for tasks, and do them to demonstrate interest. You can also demonstrate interest by doing really menial tasks as well. The point is you need to make sure the leads know you are willing to do tasks, and have showcased that you are worth giving the tasks to. Overtime, depending on the design team you may have to make a choice between grades and the team, thats up to you. Grades dont matter much unless you want to do a masters degree.
Clubs: For these try getting a lead position, a lot of them offer positions in the summer so make sure you follow them on instagram (e.g. engineers without borders, IEEE, etc). Again, you get what you put in to the club.
Intramurals: I loved playing intramurals at UOFT. However, the team that you play for depends on the people you know. For e.g. the SKULE team isnt great for soccer, and if you want to join a better team then you need to know someone on that team. So try networking lol.
Social life:
This was something that I personally struggled with at least initially at UOFT. I gave way too much time to studies, which really isnt worth it. UOFT is way easier than people make it out to be (I'm not being arrogant, and I'm not someone who's gifted in intellegence). As long as you manage your time, you will be fine. Anyway in first year most people would go to frats, and I would reccomend trying it out at least once. Go in the first weeks of school as thats the easiest time, and will also allow you to make new friends. Make sure to know a lot of people, at least at the surface level at the start, as that will make things easier for you in the long run and will also help you find the people you like to hang out with.
Summer after first year:
In my opinion do research if you want work experience, then step up to an internship next summer. If you want to relax thats a good option as well, just try doing some courses and build up some skills for sure.

2024.05.20 02:28 Flying_Snails_Today2 King Dedede vs Sir Pentious analysis

Snail: Dedede! King Dedede! The most greedy, tyrannical, and goofy penguin in all of dream land!
Bowser: Self made ruler of the land and by that I mean he kicked everyone’s butts and nobody could stop him! He took all the food in dream land! He’s starving a planet the fuck-
Snail: King Dedede would smash anyone who stepped in his way as massive ego boosts for the unrighteousness and undeserving king! All until a certain Star Warrior name Kirby came along!
“Hiiii!”
Bowser: Kirby kicked Dedede’s ass not once but TWICE! And in one game geez dude he didn’t even have copy abilities yet that’s sad!
Snail: But even still Kirby showed the king… kindness?
Bowser: This really changed Dedede’s view on things by the next game he tried saving dream land! I mean while looking like a dick because he sucks at asking for help but he’s trying!
Snail: While it would take time Dedede was on the path to redemption! But he’d have to be strong!
Bowser: While not as strong he fought with and alongside Kirby on multiple occasions! And even defeat Magolor and his ship! Magolor’s ship could cross another dimension a higher dimension that exists above time and space! And even destroy another dimension!
Snail: And while he had his trust hammer to clobber the bad guys and that there Kirby he wanted a bitttt more!
Bowser: Like the invincible Candy that can make King Dedede entirely invulnerable for a short period of time! Or his jet hammer that has missiles! And is a flame thrower!
Snail: Even with mask and hammer King Dedede is a king… SO HE HAS AN ARMY! Like his snail servant super cool right hand man! Escargon! He’s not much of a fighter… but he and Dedede have a car with a canon on it!
Bowser: What about the Waddle Dees! You got ones with spears, a guy with a bandanna, umbrellas, cars, they the waddle boys!
Snail: Of course they aren’t very strong or competent fighter with Bandanna Waddle Dee being the only notable exception but they are all extremely loyal to their king to the bitter end! No matter what! And Dedede loves all of them willing to put his life on the line to save them!
Bowser: In order to keep him say he learned a ton of powers! He can regenerate after being stabbed or come back as a ghost by absorbing life force! He can fly! And inhale his enemies and spit them out!
Snail: A lesser version of what Kirby can do! Because King Dedede always wants to one up Kirby!
Bowser: Why do that when the King has his own abilities and weapons that are just as cool! Like bombs! Every good game villain like us needs bombs!
Snail: His mask amplifies his own power greatly and he can shoot electricity out his hands to paralyze people!
Bowser: He can summon the monster of the week from Nightmare enterprises although don’t expect him to pay!
Snail: Lovely! Ya know too think all this cuz he was beefing with a baby.
Bowser: King Dedede’s intelligence may seem below average but it’s far from it, he is a master fighter with experience fighting aliens, robots, alien robots, gods and bug queens! And even drive giant mechs like the the Dedededestroyer Z! A giant mech with more missiles and a hammer arm! It’s huge!
Snail: What a self absorbed penguin! But he’s there for his friends thick and thin! While before he was unwilling to allow Kirby to help him, he went from that to be fine cowering behind Kirby and being happy to see his now friend.
Bowser: Maybe Dedede ain’t so bad! Like when he got double mind control in forgotten land! He became stronger than ever but didn’t care that he lost!
Snail: But when a giant bunch of animals attack our heroes and a Waddle fell behind Dedede tossed that Waddle to make sure he was safe with Kirby and was ready to put down his life and fight alone to protect his friends and subjects
Bowser: And hey he survived! What a legend! He may be kind of a jerk at times but he’s a caring jerk!
Snail: I think Dedede shows us all why we should be kind because one act of kindness can change the worst people for the better!

Bowser: In the world of Hazbin Hotel where angels purrge Hell once a year none can hold a candle in terms of crafty building as Sir Pentious!
Snail: While he may not be as smart as me he’s a very dangerous man! Sir Pentious is a sinner and they’re people who died and of course, went to hell!
Bowser: Very bad ones! While it's unknown how he died we know when! Back in 1888! He's a whole sas steampunk inventor so he had time to learn how to make hell weapons I guess!
Snail: Sir Pentious as a sinner has all the regular sinner powers you'd expect! He can regenerate missing arms and he's immortal as a never-aging demon, without death, as a possibility for him cuz he ya know died.
Bowser: He was a ruthless crime lord who survived the complete vaporization of his airship a feat that would have required him to tank 104 tons of TNT! And he's considered a physical wimp in hell! Oh yeah, he has an airship!
Snail: It comes equipped with lasers, giant thrusters, and more lasers! And even a holy laser!
Bowser: His minions are the Egg Boiz they are egg people who are fierce and loyal they also have electricity guns!
Snail: Sir Pentious wields a chain for combat as well as a spider like well… arm thing? I'm not sure what this is.
Bowser: He may not be the best in hand to hand but he still has the hands and even if he struggles he can use his many eyes over his body to shortly stun or hypnotize you! Combine that with a poisonous bite and he’s no push over! Well maybe he is but-
Snail: He should also be far superior to imps like Blitz! Who can fight robots who can dodge sniper shots at Mach 9! Making Sir Pent very very fast!
Bowser: He really just wanted to be an overlord a ruler of hell but instead he was manipulated by a group of overlords and force to spy on the Hazbin Hotel where sinners get redeemed!
Snail: But he got caught extremely fast and got told to Low Tier God himself by his boss! But god damn the Hotel was nice enough to let him get redeemed! He made friends, joined them in bondage, and crushed on the fire bomb! Cherry Bomb!
Bowser: But to save her and the rest of the hotel he gave his life to stop Adam and shoot a laser at him! The same Adam who could cut mountains! No, he got killed before he could hit but even Adam admits it could've gotten ugly if he was hit!
Snail: And hey for his good actions he went to heaven! I’d say this Hazbin turned his afterlife around pretty damn well!

2024.05.20 02:21 Kaltovar Great Eras of the Cybernetic Federal Republic of Kaltovar (Abridged)

The First Era:
Kaltovar was once part of massive Empire whose name is now lost to time. That Empire fractured into individual counties when the Emperor died at the age of 93, having outlived his heirs who had died variously of disease, war, and old age.
Most Counties were fiercely xenophobic due to centuries of rivalry, but the County of Kaltovar was an important trade hub of many peoples and its tradition was to welcome outsiders if they had coin. A non-noble member of the officer class, Major Karl Von-Doppelberg, had been elected to rule the County in place of a Count. Karl did not have the highest military rank, but was incredibly wealthy due to his family background, and was able to literally purchase votes.
The less intense xenophobia and more permissive atmosphere toward building meant rapid growth of an industrialized population in the city centers without having to drain the rural areas of their people to make the "Great Industrial Shift" as many of their peers had to do. Land became very expensive but labor was cheap and steel was in great supply, so the Merchants built higher and higher. Rural communities were subsidized to support the growing urban population, and a period of incredible wealth and prosperity ensued that drove even further immigration.
Kaltovar's massive wealthy population in relation to its neighbors allowed it to maintain a substantially larger military force, which came in handy during the brutal decades of civil war between the Counties. The death of the Emperor had left a power vacuum in which every County believed it was the best and most fit to inherit the Imperial throne. Huge factions formed, supporting different rulers, while Kaltovar traded with all of them and accepted the many refugees generated by the fighting. The Kingdom of Nirn, the Kingdom of Balugia, and the Republic of Thet.
A great paranoia swept the land, and it was during this period that the rule of Universal Conscription and the law requiring all citizens to own a "Modern Infantry Weapon" was introduced. At the time, that meant a bolt action rifle. One had to pay a fine of 3 Kaltmarks or 2 chickens if their household was found to have less than one such rifle for every member over the age of 16. This period also saw women and children conscripted into the military for the first time under the theory that they were capable of operating rifles in battle, which was later proven correct.
Eventually the Kingdom of Nirn decided to invade Kaltovar, which brought support from both the other factions who wanted it for themselves. Together, Kaltovar and the two factions slowly consumed the Kingdom of Nirn and then Kaltovar was again neutral. Balugia and Thet resumed their struggles, both intending to finish Kaltovar off when the war was over. Kaltovar, in the meanwhile, continued to build improvements and strengthen its military. Many years passed in the great war between Balugia and Thet, and both of them did frequent trade with Kaltovar.
After a long battle, the exhausted forces of Thet finally defeated the Balugian Royal Army and proceeded to immediately turn their forces against Kaltovar. Kaltovar defended its new lands and simultaniously invaded the former Balugian territory, which was only protected by a light occupation force meant to keep the locals suppressed. Kaltovar, being rich, paid great sums of money to the locals to rise up against their new Thetian masters. The combined peoples of Kaltovar and Balugia annihilated the armies of Thet in a relatively short campaign, because Thet was already tired from fighting against Balugia.
Major Karl Von Doppelberg celebrated the victory by declaring the First Directive of the new Nation, "From Many Peoples One Nation." which confirmed that there was no single culture to be venerated above the rest. Loyalty to the nascent State, productivity, wealth, and military competence were more important.
The Revolution:
Vadim Bel-Khyber was, at one point, an eager young Cybernetics Professor from a long line of aristocratic merchants and military officers. He received the best education from the youngest age, and was groomed constantly to fill the role of a leader. He did not by any means reject his role as the family heir, and was by all accounts excited to take up his position as the head of House Bel-Khyber, but spent enough time in Marxist theory circles to cause minor embarrassment to his family.
When his father fell out of favor with the high nobles for losing his temper during a plenary session, most of their family property and wealth was confiscated,. Vadim's casual interest in Marxist theories of inequality turned into a fanatical obsession now that economic and social inequality personally impacted him. It wasn't just about achieving justice, which was truly part of it, but also more prominently about taking revenge against the Nobles who had wronged his family for simply [talking shit] speaking their minds.
Vadim started by getting a job as a low level public servant, and gradually working his way up to the position of Comptroller-General. He was essentially the master-treasurer for the entire nation, someone who in theory was supposed to have very little actual power. The nobles found it hilarious to keep him in this role, which was seen as unfit for one of his birth, and a mark of shame on the wider Bel-Khyber dynasty. However, they always viewed him as a coward and so never feared him - to their magnificent error.
Over 3000 years ago he instigated a coup against the government he served, though he never altered his official title. He always remained the "Comptroller-General", a position responsible for all financial disbursements on behalf of the government. Gradually, after convincing the nobles to allow him a small "Treasury Police" to catch white collar criminals, he leveraged that authority to refuse to pay for the buildings or wages of entities that opposed him on the grounds of corruption and abuse of funds. This was corrupt on his part because it was to serve his own interests, but he could not be impugned because the corruption actually existed and had merely been overlooked for decades... Enough decades to establish long chains of evidence.
Although his behavior was obviously corrupt, the citizens almost universally supported it because everyone else was even more corrupt.
Vadim worked his way to the top of the Oligarchy, and proceeded to systematically dismantle it using its own tools of control, concentrating all their authority under him and elevating himself to the status of the Supreme Ruler in the process.
As soon as his control was undisputed, Vadim had many of the Nobles and Oligarchs arrested or even killed without warning all over the country on the same night. He established control over state broadcasting systems, ordered the army to open their armories to the public, and ordered the public to go into the armories and take up weapons and "clean up the government as they saw fit."
Although that night of chaos spiraled wildly out of control, the aftermath transitioned into hundreds of years of relatively peaceful rule under a new cybernetic form of government. He originally achieved this by personally performing surgery on himself using a wireless transmitter attached to his brain-stem to enable him to control the robotic surgical instruments even as he extracted his own brain and implanted it into the state machinery.
The Golden Age:
After approximately 1000 years in power, Vadim decided a human brain was no longer necessary. Having already expanded his mind with machine components, he realized his organic brain was less than 1% of his total cognitive capacity. In order to abandon his mortality completely and prove his theory of total consciousness transfer, he dissected his own brain alive and studied it as it died, observing hardly any change in his overall processes and confirming his beliefs.
The same day he faked his own death, releasing press statements that his brain had passed away during a recreational drug induced stroke. He did this because his position as dictator had started to inspire too much fear in his subjects. He wanted them to grow freely and experiment with democracy, though his shadowy hand would continue to guide their course.
Kaltovar was brought under the management of the TEMPEST Council (Temporary Emergency Management Political Economic and Security). The TEMPEST Council was made up one third of those personally selected by Vadim, one third those selected by the leaders of his ministries, and one third by those elected by the people.
The Rule of the TEMPEST Council progressed for hundreds of years and enjoyed broad public support. It was seen as a step toward democracy, spearheaded by one of Vadim's most trusted advisors, Diplomatic Mainframe O.D.I.N. / DZ-00a69v00, until ...
The End of Time:
A top secret facility designated X-16 at the heart of an artificial depleted uranium moon named Lucifer was infiltrated by an agent from a foreign power. There, experiments on a new generation of hyperspace drive were well underway. This hyperspace drive was much faster than previous models, and required hundreds of times more energy. Unfortunately, the technology was dangerously unstable and the lead scientist was under the influence of an inter-dimensional being who sought to turn his work toward demented ends. What manifested was a device capable of altering the specifications of reality, and that is what the foreign agent gained access to. The Agent wished for "A world that would start from scratch, where neither country would be hostile toward each other, and the threat of a great war between them was no more."
Reality, as it was known, was totally destroyed by the device. Survivors were thrust into a new and previously unknown dimension where the laws of physics remained largely intact except for the minor detail that magic existed. Dozens of nations from the same reality were shunted into a single planet that was perfect for life yet mysteriously devoid of advanced civilizations. The new reality is more durable than the previous one because of the presence of magic, and it is no longer possible to destroy it with the same level of technology. This event created a massive energy signature within the multiverse that attracted scouts from other advanced multidimensional civilizations, and this single planet became one of the most populated worlds across realities, where many countries own "Embassy Territories" that are often thousands of miles and include cities, forests, lakes, and all the other features one would expect of a country. This arrangement facilitates diplomacy between these various ancient entities.
A new figurehead, an acid-blooded insectoid alien General T'Xlekhan L'Xrada, has become the defacto leader of Kaltovar due to being in charge of a special anti-doomsday taskforce and leading the bulk of the survivors at the time of the disaster. However, the TEMPEST Council, still lead by O.D.I.N. / DZ-00a69v00, continues to wield extraordinary influence. It is currently unknown whether L'Xrada might become the next supreme leader, or whether he'll inevitably be forced to yield full control to the Council.

2024.05.20 02:10 EctristSucks To all the Caders

Is it just me? After 3 years of FRC, I literally cannot work with the metric system. I was cadding a small project today and I decided to do it in metric because cadding in imperial makes tolerance problems on 3d printed parts as Cura is in metric.
Some of the gears were like 5mm, and I didn't realize how small it was until I dumped the STL file into the slicer. I'm having a really hard time getting used to it, and I need a handy ruler next to me to get an approximation how large my parts will be
Guess I can't mock you americans using the imperial system now (I'm canadian)

Some things I have been after for a while.
The Paranoia backpack I had but sold because it had a hole in it but regretted it later. I lost my geometric camp cap in blue so this will replace that. Also got the Japan exclusive stainless steel ruler and metal book ends. The backpack is almost like it was never used; the Japanese truely take care of their stuff.

Do you think this Channel Lock guide is reliable enough to go buy a 6mm open end wrench ?
I might want to put a wrench on this torx driver....for some reason I can't find a 6mm wrench in my kit....do you think a Channel Lock adjustable is close enough tolerance to gauge the shank size and buy a single wrench ? I'm only using the adjustable to get an idea of the shank size, it's not written on the screwdriver, I can't use the adjustable in this use case, it's way to big. You'll have to zoom in to the jaws to see the ruler.

2024.05.20 00:42 PaduaMCC Brabantia. A kingdoms realm thats driven by its story and lore, a world where every citizens ambition influences the entire world (bedrock)

Content creator friendy, rpg type factions (Were planning on making it a huge series with multiple creators). Alcohol, siege, weapon and more addons
Hello like the titel says, were looking for members to join a kingdom. Since were still in development and not yet 100% ready most kingdoms will be ready to join
With more then enough lore to delve into and multiple kingdoms already embodying different types if cultures the world will never be boring
For example of our lore : The year is 150 BC, the great gods just gave every kingdom they raised a ring that would bind itself to its ruler. Then King Romulus made the decision to make a conscription law that would stand for over hundreds of years. Rome wasn’t a Monarchy for long though, just after 3 Kings it was turned into a republic after the Roman elites staged a coup and took control sharing power equally. The Tjordeones played especially a pivotal role in the coup. Tjordianus (the man the family is named after) is the man that made this change possible, using his guards as footman and some of their loyal gladiators to storm the palace and denounce the monarchy and introduce the Republic in 110 BC.
So if your interested or have any questions feel free to dm me🔥

2024.05.20 00:34 MasterBaitingBoy Aries in natal charts

The myths of Aries always concur on the theme of action, enthusiasm, adventure and valiant efforts. The sign conceals a special meaning that is often forgotten in the simplicity of its planetary ruler, Mars, which explores the theme of outward, direct, unidimensional and raw expression of the instinct to conquer and attack. The underlying theme with Aries can be grasped once we take into account that it is the first sign of the zodiac, the life force and resurrection of the constellations and the path of the Sun into a new astrological year, following closely after the mystic and universal dimension of Pisces which seeks to integrate and unify opposite forces through subconscious processes. The force of the ram lies in its horns, which signify regeneration and rebirth. Here, the theme of unity and The Self or The One can be seen: Aries is the unmoved mover in the turning gears of existence. In this way, the planetary energies that match this idea are Mars and also the Sun. It’s the breath of new life which gives joy and excitement for exploration an adventure. The enthusiasm that comes with beginnings and the sense of awe coming from new places and new settings. Aries, along with Aquarius, are the signs most tied with the concept of freedom: the desire for the individual to be restricted by nothing. With Aquarius, the sense of freedom is more linked to independent thought, purity and the human right; with Aries, it’s expressed as a desire venture out into a world full of excitement and surprises, to become a traveler of the lands and seas, to be the optimistic newcomer eager to see the landscapes and meet the world with their own eyes.
Aries is the recruitment of the entirety of our selves in order to exert oneself with determination. It implies digging into the unconscious and resolving our doubts and fears in order to attack. This ties perfectly with its ruler Mars, a planet that lies in the personal unconscious of the individual and represents desires, anger, and need to exert oneself as well as embrace our own nature without fear. Aries modus operandi is by acceleration, physicality and impulse. It tells us that in order for our minds, bodies and spirit to work as one we need to exert ourselves physically — and truthfully, there is a lot of health benefits that one can obtain from physical exercise and liberation through the body. One can help heal and release pent-up emotions or even physical ailments unknown to us, and use them for a better purpose. One emotion that can make us quickly forget fear is anger, and the raw and blood-raising physical state of anger gives us the capacity to act with no hesitation, restraint or regard for consequences (whether for better or for worse).
Traditionally, the Sun has been regarded to anatomically rule both the heart (Leo) and the head, which is Aries. This gives insight into understanding that the significations of the Sun contain both the meaning of heart, purpose and pride (Leo) as well as direction, action and principle (Aries). The Sun is not just the raison d’etre, the muse and creative life force that keeps on giving life and joy and brilliance in what we do, but also the existential fact of the consciousness, the self and the trials, challenges and path we must go through in order to fulfill our purpose; the sense of meaning and transcendence to our existence which is reflected in our choices and actions.
The exaltation of the Sun in Aries, then, represents the latter part of this signification. It is the self in its most basic sense, the oneness that inhabits in every spirit of a human being, the idea of the self, and the reflection of God being succeeded in his own image by the first human or character. From here, the idea of hero's journey can be associated, for Aries represents the individual who steps foot into the world and must become a hero to resolve its own story - it is the act of mustering up the courage, casting away all doubts and focusing on a single idea in order to become and achieve. Unlike with Leo, the sign can only function psychologically exist once there is a world to go out to, forces to with which contend and obstacles to overcome.
With the sign of Aries, one has no doubt and has absolute resolve. It is the power of the will over matter, drawing upon the virtues of valor and heart and acting out these principles. There is a sense of impending danger and urgency, and yet a greater amount of courage and decision. One knows they have to act now or never, needing self-definition. This connection to all-or-nothing, do-or-die mentality is what ties it to the themes of Pluto: the destruction of things in order to be born again. There is always the latent ability in Aries to be reborn, to go back into the depths of the self and give life to one’s core. The downfall to this is absolute stance is the lack of nuance and long term sustainability, which is the reason why the archetype also implies impulsivity, short-sightedness and the immediate and excessive waste of one’s energy and running out of stamina.
The downfalls of Aries are easy to pinpoint: lack of measure, unnecessary aggression, the need to step on others and the kind of person who perceives everything as a threat. The typical Aries can be the man with an inferiority complex that feels the need to show off as a macho, belittling others and trying to establish dominance to make up for low self-esteem; the male who has never felt manly enough on the inside, who feels like his entire value as a person is how much he can physically exert himself over others, typically going to extremes just to prove this, something which gains him no sympathy and some enemies, in which case he becomes the person which others antagonize, then being actual villain that he thought was fighting.
This is related to the common mistake of Aries which is forgetting its code and moral reason, to get too caught up in the thirst of battle and letting the fight become the end itself, letting oneself go to one’s instincts and lower nature, and forgetting the cause. Similar to the other fire signs, it is not particularly intelligent either, suffering from an overly simplistic view of things which lack depth, while also insensitive to others and to feelings in general, which they may regard as "weak" and "unnecessary".
An even darker side of Aries is observed especially with its before mentioned connection to Pluto, and particularly to the Aries point (the first degree of the sign) along with the first decan, ruled by Mars. It’s the turning point of transformation of the zodiac; the point of creation and destruction. Therefore a Plutonic Aries may be the person whose need of self-exertion is so animalistic and raw that it destroys everything other than itself - brutal force that exterminates everything in its way. The need that will never be satisfied until it reaches the ends of the world. It would be the country that is at war and then decides to annihilate the rest; to see the world flatten and become shreds of what it once was, whether out of incalculable amounts of pent up resentment that finally releases or just wanting to see the world burn.
There is the running theme of duel and contention with Aries. Along with Libra, the sign works from the perception of contrasting opposites. If we take the meaning of its ruler, Aries is the instinctual force and energy that overcomes the obstacles that are ahead of us. With its connection to the Sun, it's the relationship between the anima or higher self-consciousness paired against the shadow of the subconscious. It signifies the development of the individual and transformation, the dialogue that occurs constantly between self/other, between conscious/unconscious.
The sign has similarities to the word exaltation itself, representing the pace-gaining process of elevation and of accomplishment; to perception of opportunity and advantage. Similar to it being the beginning of spring, the point where the days start becoming longer than nights - where light starts taking over the darkness - it’s also the solar self gaining control over the saturnine shadow, being the process of evolving and displaying our higher qualities, with the promise of reaching a realm of serenity, wisdom, honor, consciousness, dignity, morality, victory, confidence and self-importance. The solar qualities of Aries are the journey of self-development, of one’s defining core, values and unbreakable principles; the process of integration and resolution of the personality, and the rewards we obtain from facing our fears.
So a typical image of the Arian hero is the one who ventures into a duel against the dark lord or monster that dwells in the caverns. On this level, Aries bestows the ability to become aware of one’s existence, sense of purpose, moral code and the willingness to act upright and with honor, to act as a hero in the names of others, and keep one’s core safe and wearing our heart on our sleeve. To face the challenge no matter how daunting it may seem. It’s the energy that gives us the courage to sacrifice our lives in heroic acts. It’s the brave step we take in order to confront what’s unknown, mysterious and possibly bigger than us, but nevertheless necessary.

2024.05.20 00:15 Due_Ant_8172 Preview of my "Italia" Mod

Preview of my
It took a long time to clean the borders
Quick: I did resolve the crashing issue. Embarassingly, I had forgotten to add my newly added provinces to their respective nearest trade nodes after I ported them over from this mod's earlieoutdated version. At least that means I can use this beautiful (and "sold separately") map mod in peace.
This is a mod I've been working on that is a conversion (using the fan converter) over from CK2 with a lot of tweaking to make it a more "sensible" alt history. I started as the Welf Kings of Arles (Burgundy) and established the Empire of Italia through both conquest & marriage, though King Otto of Germany hilariously died of a sudden illness without heirs so I never got the battle to throw off Germanic influence that I was hoping for. That happening is also why I divided Germany up into a bunch of successor kingdoms.
I'm still trying to figure out how to slow both ERE and Italia at the start. I made a second bookmark but because I suck at event/decision modding it's kinda broken right now.
Other tidbits:
"Africa" and Egypt are both "Latinized"/"Italianized" (I added two new "latin" cultures) and catholic, and somehow both Morroco and Marrakech are Catholic but ruled by native dynasties. The CK2 AI also somehow pulled off an AI-ruled Nestorian Iraq so when I did my border clean up I honored that achievement and buffed them up some (Nizamids) so you do in fact have a Nestorian start (they and their vassals are the only starts. Due to crusades, Hejaz (Mecca/Medina) are also Catholic, but ruled by native Arabs (I purposely let a liberation revolt succeed at the end of the game).
England actually starts as "Warwick", an AI made custom kingdom. They will literally just form England immediately though. I changed their dynasty name to "of Warwick". Also English culture, somehow, still emerged even without William's invasion (I forgot how, must have ended up with Norman/French rulers anyway). However, unlike in our timeline/vanilla the "Normanization" was not complete, there are small pockets of Anglo-Saxon cultures still present in "de jure" England. Wessexian, Essexian, East Anglian and Mercian as well as (the biggest remnant) Northumbrian.
I edited the Weeds in the Garden event to where rather than Orthodox provinces going Catholic, they will instead choose one of the CK2 heresies the fan converter added to the game, and Catholic provinces pre-reformation will be the same; even Arianism has a (very rare) chance to pop up.
Overall I'm still trying to figure out what else to do for this mod, I don't know if it's ready to be posted publicly just yet.
