Blood testing vs cheek swab or saliva

2024.05.20 01:01 fenrircomplex Blood testing vs cheek swab or saliva

Hi,
I was wondering if there are any ancestry tests that are sold that use a blood sample instead of saliva or cheek cells?
If there are none commercially available, does anyone know where I might be able to get such a test done for ancestry makeup and genealogical purposes? The name of a lab or testing center that uses blood?
I live in New Jersey, USA. Thanks

2024.05.19 01:12 SkinnyLegs31 Genetics test - swab vs blood test.

Hi all, first time posting. I’m male 48 originally from England but emigrated to Melbourne Australia in 2005. Back in May 2022 I started to get a very sore left ankle when walking and after an ultrasound was diagnosed with tendinitis. This continued on and off up until September 2023 when I noticed I had pins and needles in my hands and numbness in my toes. My Doctor referred me to a neurologist who immediately diagnosed “probable” CMT when looking at my lower legs / feet and NCS results. I was referred to a geneticist who asked me to provide a cheek swab sample and bloods. After 6 weeks I received an email from the geneticist that my swab test showed my Chromosomes to be “Normal” and I now need to wait for the blood results which could be another 4 months. Does anyone know what “normal Chromosomes” mean and what additional analysis they can get from the blood vs the swab? I did ask the Geneticist but he gave no indication other than we have to wait for the blood results.

2024.05.18 14:54 Specific-Guess8988 Questions about the pineapple

There are some areas of this case that I know better than others. One of the areas where I feel like I have general knowledge but I don't have more thorough and specific knowledge is regarding the pineapple. Mainly concerning all the sources where some of the information about it originated from (who published it).
I did do some research yesterday to try and find some of these sources and more information about the pineapple in this case. As well, I did some research on pineapples in general and about the digestive system. However, I still have some questions.
I started by looking at the autopsy report. Below are two quotes from it:
"The stomach contains a small amount (8-11cc) of viscous to green to tan colored thick mucous material without particulate matter identified. The gastic mucosa is autolyzed but contains no areas of hemorrhage or ulceration. The yellow to light green-tan apparent vegetable or fruit material which may represent fragments of pineapple.
EVIDENCE: Items turned over to the Boulder Police Department as evidence include: Fibers and hair from clothing and body surfaces; ligatures; clothing, vaginal swabs and smears; rectal swabs and smears; oral swabs and smears; paper bags from hands; fingernail clippings; jewelry; paper bags from feet; white body bag; samples of head hair, eyelashes and eyebrows; swabs from right and left thighs and right cheek; red top and purple top tubes of blood."
There are a few things that I spotted right away:
Nowhere in this does it mention that the duodenum is where they observed this content. It simple says "the stomach contains". From my research I found that the duodenum is right underneath the stomach and is the first part of the small intestines. So I don't know if a coroner would refer to this as the stomach or not. Additionally, the duodenum seems to have four parts and I'm curious which part it was found in - I don't know if anyone knows this or not since I've yet to find where the duodenum was originally sourced.
I also noticed that the coroner doesn't specifically identify what it is that is being observed. He says vegetable or fruit, but then says it could be pineapple. I know that coroners hear information from investigators about the crime scene and will sometimes use that information to help with their autopsy findings / reports. So is it possible that LE informed the coroner at some point about the pineapple and this is why it specifically was mentioned?
There's obviously no mention of cherries or grapes. So I am curious where this information came from. I'm assuming Paula Woodward, but then where did she get it from?
I noticed that in the list of evidence turned over to LE,, that I don't see these "stomach contents" mentioned. How could this be tested if it wasn't handed over to LE as evidence? Was it done at a later time? Is this autopsy report the only and final one? Am I viewing the entire thing?
Additionally, how would any experts for the Ramseys have gotten a hold of it to say there were cherries and grapes in it?
When I googled how long it takes for food to get to the duodenum, this is the result that I got: "Food typically takes 2–4 hours to move from the stomach to the small intestine." When I learned more about the duodenum specifically, I saw this same time mentioned (2-4 hours).
However, when I googled how long does it take a person to digest pineapple, this is the result that I got: "According to Daily Pioneer, pineapple is a sub-acid fruit that takes about 30–40 minutes to digest."
The second source doesn't mention more specifics like if this is from the time of consumption or not. However, if it is, then shouldn't the sources about the duodenum include a shorter window of time. Ex: 30mins - 4hrs (instead of 2-4hrs).
I know that there are different variables that can impact how fast foods are digested. This can be dependent on the person (gender, age, and other variables relating to their own body and health) and this can be dependent on the type of food (for example the body processes carbs and proteins at different rates).
Something that I didn't look into because I wasn't sure how I could do so in a manner that was accurate, was whether the digestive system could be impaired after a head injury and whether this could throw off any attempt to calculate when she ate the pineapple.

2024.05.17 17:57 No-Network2078 I’m so sad 😥

I was diagnosed with hsv2 beginning of April, I have a two year old and one day after doing the deed with her dad he stupidly left the condom on the bedside table. Next morning I’m getting ready I turn around and I see my two year old holding the condom up to her face I quickly grab it throw it and wash her up (hands and mouth). My babydaddy has hsv 1. Fast fwd now I noticed she had canker sores in her mouth took her in for it and her dad get those too, anyway.. few days later it looks like she got a sore on the side of her mouth by her cheek like tiny lil bumps def a cold sore from what it looks like, I took her in cause then I freaked out thinking about that time I saw her with the used condom, the doctor said a swab wasn’t needed I told him everything that happens and he said it doesn’t matter if it’s 1 or 2 it’s both gona cause sores and he prescribed her acyclovir, but now I’m feeling like wtf I feel so shitty idk if it’s type one or two but to think if it was cause of the used condom being out of feel like absolute shit. Had I known he left the condom there I would have told him to throw it away or did it myself, I feel so sad and lost. To think if I gave my child this. 😥

2024.05.17 08:37 sweatpants_on_my_bed 9 months with molluscum, 22F

hey everyone! i have really mentally struggled the last 9 months since i was initially infected. i won’t be holding back at all in the post, because even though this is gross, i really hope it might help someone and even help me to share my story. upon my first outbreak in august 2023, i had to visit 3 different doctors before i actually received a proper diagnosis. first doctor thought it was herpes, second thought it was bad razor burn, and finally the third took me seriously and confirmed that it was neither. 3 full STD panels that all tested urine, blood, and direct swabs were completely negative, which is what finally resulted in my diagnosis of molluscum contagiosum (MC). additionally, i developed and tested positive for awful bacterial vaginosis (BV) upon the time of my infection as well.
my first outbreak was mainly all in the same area, clustered in the fold of my bikini line on my right side. because the area rubbed so much as i walked around, the bumps were basically rubbed raw, which is what i believe caused them to spread. i don’t have any bumps in that area now, but i do now have 3 right by my vulva and one on my anus, all of which have been there pretty much this whole time. i also have one at the bottom of my right butt cheek that is pretty new—appeared maybe a month and a half ago.
my first doctor prescribed me valacyclovir pills, but only 2 weeks worth, and they did not affect the appearance of the bumps at all. he also prescribed me metrinidazole vaginal gel for the BV, which seemed to work initially in at least flushing out the BV infection. however, since my MC infection, i have on and off had BV virtually the entire time, with very strange discharge. the discharge ranges from grayish to neon yellow, is extremely thick, sticky, and clumpy, and it smells not necessarily awful but not healthy if that makes sense. the potency of the smell fluctuates, where some days it has no scent, and other days i can smell it through my pants (can’t believe i’m admitting this online😭). for the BV, i have also tried honeypot brand boric acid capsules that are inserted into the vagina and left overnight. the capsules work to clear the BV temporarily, but it still returns, likely going hand in hand with my molluscum infection. my third doctor that actually diagnosed me provided me with mupirocin ointment to apply to the bumps daily. i was extremely diligent with applying the ointment multiple times daily with clean hands and everything. however, after it did nothing to help for 3 months, i have become more lax with the application, only applying it once a day to no avail.
i will also admit, i have not taken the best care of myself since the initial infection. this last year was my senior year of college, and i have also been working full time and just trying to scrape by. my sleep schedule is non existent especially with some of my shifts only having a 6 hour gap between them, lol. i have felt so ashamed of myself and just hoping the bumps will go away, even though i know that isn’t logical. i have hardly had time to devote to treatment anyway, with my most recent doctors appointment being in november. i definitely entered a state of denial for a while as well where i almost forgot i had the bumps.
now that i have graduated college, i know that i can’t allow myself to live like this anymore. i have read many of the posts in this thread and am so inspired by everyone’s patience and risillience with dealing with this. as a first step, i have started women’s multivitamin supplements to ensure that i am getting 100% of my daily value of vitamin C, zinc, and etc to hopefully help my immune system. i also now have a gynecologist appointment scheduled for this monday, may 17th, to final face my fears and address this again. i plan to update following the appointment, of course.
in addition to just wanting to share my story, i would also like to ask if anyone reading this has advice for treatment strategies and for talking to my doctor. i want to be as thorough as possible with my appointment, because as someone with a bit of ✨ trauma ✨, it is really mentally taxing for me to keep having to show doctor after doctor my vagina. if anyone knows of specific treatment options i should ask about, i would love to hear it. also, if anyone knows about a correlation between MC and BV, i would be really interested to hear about that as well.
thank you so much you guys. to anyone who is struggling with this, you are not alone. you deserve to get better and you WILL get better💛

2024.05.16 09:43 livelaughleo Itchy healing wound ?

I had a large mysterious wound on my face that kept growing until I was diagnosed with impetigo by urgent care and the doctor I saw while abroad. They prescribed me with doxycycline and antibiotic ointment and the wound slowly shrunk over the course of the last 2 weeks or so and is now pretty much healed over but is still very red. About a week ago I went to the dermatologist where they took a swab of the scab on my cheek which came back positive for hsv 1 and 2. I’ve never had anything like this before and have never even had a cold sore so this was shocking news. I also hadn’t had skin to skin contact with anyone recently before the wound developing. My theory is that when I got sun poisoning about a month ago, it triggered a dormant reaction.
Anyways, the wound as I stated before is flat and healed over but has left behind what I think is a scar or maybe just freshly healing skin. Either way it’s super itchy and I am avoiding itching it to be safe. Since this is my first OB I know they said itching is a symptom of returning so I’m just really paranoid about it coming back as I know nothing about this shit. I’m just gonna pray that it’s bc it’s still healing as it was very large and kind of deep.

2024.05.16 06:06 papas_cupcakeria ADVICE NEEDED: 1 vs. 2 gap years

Ok guys, I need your help. I'm a senior in college who was planning on applying this cycle. After talking to my premed advisor (I know I should take what they say with a grain of salt, but I thought she actually made some points), I'm very heavily considering two gap years.
NJ ORM Female
T20 undergrad, 3.8 cGPA, 3.7 sGPA. MCAT: 520 (128/131/129/132)
Clinical experience: 600 hours scribing in the ER
Research: 800 hours across 3 different labs (wet-lab and nutrition/pop health) with 1 publication
Miscellaneous: director of public health outreach organization, mix of volunteering and independent research (300 hrs), captain of a nationally ranked competitive collegiate dance team (1400 hours), non-clinical volunteering at harm reduction agency (200 hours), pharmacy technician (200 hours), founded undergrad publication related to medical humanities (250 hours), shadowing (50 hours)
4 LORs: 1 science professor (probs pretty generic), 1 post-doc/PI from independent research/EC (very strong), 1 physician i scribe for (glowing bc i wrote it lmao), 1 humanities professor who is also my advisor (strong)
Spending gap year as a CRC at big research hospital in a city. lots of patient interaction compared to desk work.
pros of taking 2 years:
  1. I have no experience with direct patient interaction. With scribing, at my hospital the scribes rarely even follow the doctors into the patient rooms. While I've learned so much from the physicians I work closely with and I've seen alot, I haven't actually interacted with a single patient. While writing my personal statement, I began to wonder, wouldn't admissions committees see this as a glorified shadowing/passive experience? Shouldn't I be writing about instances in which I, directly, interacted with a patient and how that interaction confirmed my love for medicine? Of course i can lowkey bullshit on my primary and secondary but it feels so ingenuine idk
  2. Next year, i have a job lined up that WILL provide me with that direct patient experience. I'll be running patient intake visits alone, taking vitals, collecting cheek and nasal swabs, explaining the study, consenting patients, etc. I think there will be a lot to talk about from this experience. I also will work very closely with my PI, as I am the only CRC in her lab, and would get a letter from her. If I were to take this second year, I'd also volunteer, continue my independent research, etc.
  3. I want to open as many doors as possible for myself. Of course I'd like to be able to shoot my shot at a few T20s. More importantly, I want to be able to go to a school in a location I like and at a program I feel is a good fit, bc this is four whole years of my life. Taking an extra year off for the potential of having more options feels like a small price to pay. And even if I end up at school in a location I don't like, at least I got to spend an extra year in the city.
  4. time to travel, explore hobbies, gain more life experience and mature, chill
concerns about taking 2 years:
mainly pushing everything back a year, potentially being bored at the job and feeling stuck in a purgatory/waiting period, forgetting how to study from all the time off, etc.
I was completely ready to apply, so this is such a last minute time to be making a decision like this and I am confuseddddd. I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions! Thank you in advance!

2024.05.15 13:13 BoysenberryIll1396 Could staph be causing all of this? Pics in comments

Please tell me if this could be staph. I can’t get into the doctors until next week.
22F, no meds but take omega 3s, iron, vit D & magnesium.
So, for context. I work as a home support carer showering elderly and cleaning their homes. I always wear PPE and sanitise when I get back in the car. Please keep in mind prior to starting my elderly care work I didn’t have any skin issues/allergies anything of the sort. I change my sheets & pillowcases frequently, I eat well and don’t have dairy. I exercise, sleep 8 hours and drink water. I can’t figure this out. Also note, I wasn’t able to be registered with the GP until April 2024 - small town & they were full.
September 2023: picked up a new client who is covered in spots, she says they aren’t itchy but she pics them. They are all over her body.
September 2023: started getting random skin issues, lump behind ear (image 2), lump on lip (image 5&6), eczema symptoms on hand & eyelids
November 2023: went to urgent care to see if they could tell me where my problems were coming from. No luck. They swabbed my lips for MRSA and it came back negative.
From Dec-Feb my problems pretty much cleared up (except for the self diagnosed eczema)
March 2024: (image 3&4) got two spots on my right bum cheek - hurt so bad I couldn’t sit properly and it felt so hard around the area. The red and hard area was the size of a bread plate. It also got weird straight lines like outward dents I was doing warm compresses during this time and it went away on its own.
April 2024: finally was registered for the GP - got blood tests done, they were clear. Not sure if that’s relevant. I did have low iron but have since been taking supplements and I put that down to not eating a lot of red meat.
Late April 2024: got what I thought was an ingrown hair, hurt to lift my arm for a few days. Again, did warm compress and it went away on its own.
Fast forward to May 2024: on the 10th, I got a tender red spot near my belly button - thought it was an itchy bite. It hasn’t gotten bigger but it’s still red and slightly tender if I touch it.
However, on the 11th I noticed this spot on my left hip, which is the 1st image. It’s getting bigger, it’s tender to touch and it’s hard. Image 1.
My questions:
Could it be staph causing all of these issues? Can these ‘staph’ boils just flare up anywhere even though my client has never touched my bum or hip? Is the best thing for me to do, to stop looking after this particular client ASAP? If my lips were swabbed for MRSA in Nov 23 and it was negative - does that mean I didn’t have it or just that my lips didn’t have it? I suppose I’m asking if they have to swab the area where the infection is.
I will see the doctor as soon as they have a space open for me.
Appreciate any and all feedback! Pics of some of the issues I’ve mentioned are above.

Ottawa police stepping up use of mandatory roadside alcohol testing
The prospect of having my cheeks swabbed or having to give a saliva to a cop because I drove at 60 km/h instead of 50 km/h (according to the cop at least), seems extremely invasive and overall repulsive. Before someone says “then don’t drink and drive!”, I should make clear that I barely drink alcohol (and wherever I do, it's at home) and have literally never touched cannabis or any illegal drugs in my life, so this is not the issue. Also, those who say, "Yeah, but impaired driving!" or "Think of the children!", they should know that in the case of random tests like these, the vast majority yield negative results. However, in the process you will have lost your time and, depending on the individual, a piece of your privacy and dignity, your respect to police, or worse. In fact, any interaction with them opens the door to escalation and violence if you happen to say something the cop you didn't like, rubbed him the wrong way or if he is having a bad day. In the worst case, it can also put your physical wellbeing and even your life in jeopardy if, for example, you make a move that makes the cop feel “afraid for his life” (we all know how that ends when they utter those words). An argument could also be made that the actions of a small percentage of drivers should not be the reason to apply draconian measures to everybody else. Imagine living in a neighbourhood where a handful of people did some bad deeds and because of that, cops on a fishing expedition have carte blanche to search you and your house because you (allegedly) committed an unrelated infraction (e.g. your grass is longer than allowed under the bylaw). We would probably find that outraging, and rightfully so, and innocent drivers having their rights violated because of a small percentage of people is arguably not much different.
Also, the irony of how in this country you can't have a swab done when you really need it (e.g. a throat infection) because of the dire state the health system is in, but you will find cops who will be happy to do that to you but for entirely different reasons shouldn’t be ignored. It may also be indicative of in which direction our country is headed. Now that that this law is being implemented more widely, I can see how it will start to get some serious challenges under section 8 of the Charter and all the way to the Supreme Court. Very curious to see whether it sticks.

2024.05.11 10:31 Deep-Caterpillar-491 Shingles or more?

30 year old Female 5”5 180 pounds & 8 weeks PP. I started off feeling really under the weather, sensitive to the light, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes in my left groin, and a red hot rash in between my butt cheeks, thigh, & perineum. My family doctor quickly looked and prescribed me keflex QID for 7 days with no real diagnosis & sent me on my way. Flash forward a few days and I’m really unwell. The rash is now blisters, and I am now having a panic attack thinking the trauma from my birth has caused an hsv outbreak. I go to the women’s clinic and she’s thinking that it could be! So she swabs me and sends me on my way with a prescription for valtrex two tablets BID. I am feeling worse and worse at this point. She calls me back in to tell me the PCR test confirmed I have shingles not hsv 1 or 2, and ups my valtrex dose. I am still feeling really run down, and now just woke up to swollen lymph nodes on the right side of my body in my Armpit. Could this be related to the shingles infection or something more? Can it be coming out in another area? Or could there be another reason why I’m having such a weakened immune system beyond being pp & having a lot of stress.

2024.05.11 05:38 TraditionalYellow323 Why are there different document requirements for CRBA in different countries?

I am currently reading the website of the US Consulate. They are requesting the mother's prenatal records. But the mother is not the US citizen.
My friend did his CRBA in a different country and they never requested the prenatal records of the mother. My friend is a US citizen and his wife was not a US citizen.
If anything I expect them to do a DNA test on the US citizen to determine if the child is actually biologically related to the US citizen.
Why the fuck does my wife need to reveal her personal medical information?
They can swab my cheek and the baby's cheek.

2024.05.10 16:29 Hypocondriac11 GHSV1…

So I’m suspicious that I may have gotten HSV1 and GHSV1 from a partner back in late December…
2 weeks post I had prodrome feeling in my legs, dry cracking lips, a little jelly looking sore on the inside of my cheek and what appeared to be folliculitis on my butt.
One doctor told me the sore inside my mouth was hsv1 (refused to swab) And all the other doctors told me folliculitis for my butt… (refused to swab)
Now I’ve IGG tested at 2 weeks 6 weeks 12 weeks and 18 weeks and have gotten negative results for both hsv1 and hsv2…
I’m just curious if anyone else has something similar, am I alright? Am I not? Kinda getting mixed signals here 🤷🏼‍♂️

Just wanted to thank this sub for the information, advice and support. My recipient and I chatted this morning and they said “so, happy transplant-iversary” - I’d almost forgot! Hard to believe it’s been a year, but for those of you going through the evaluation process, don’t lose hope. For me it seemed like the hospital kept adding tests and delaying next steps, but we got there in the end, and I ended up being a 12 out of 12 match.
Lastly I’ll repeat what so many of us on the One Bean Team tell potential donors: I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I even submitted cheek swabs to Be The Match a couple weeks after donation, because I know how easy it is to save a life now.
Oh, I’m now “Spare Parts” in my recipients phone!

2024.05.08 16:13 Own_Lion_8566 PCR Test?

Hey gang - my partner and I were at a work event Sunday evening where we were briefly maskless. Yesterday we both had low grade fevers and slight headaches. Both yesterday and today we are negative on rapid tests (cheek/throat/deep nose swab) We also woke up feeling normal today. I’ve had Covid multiple times, and every time I’ve had it, it has come up on a rapid test, even when I was practically asymptomatic.
I want to get a PCR test just in case, but they are expensive and I would have to go to an urgent care while further risking my health. Thoughts?

2024.05.07 05:28 bonesmutley Just started

Was tested and came back at 12.4 so S&H (Canada) prescribed .45mg/ml twice weekly. Took first shot today, forgot to use alcohol swab, forgot to pull back to check if I hit a vein also. Beginners problems. Anyways do you think .45 is to low or I just wait for bloods. Symptoms were really just now Libido at all. I lift weights almost daily but also messed around with sarms and enclo in the past so I assume that hurt me. Anyways pinning was good, no pain what so ever. Plan on alternation but cheeks and see how bloods are going to be. Cheers from Canada

2024.05.07 05:24 smalltenderloin Don’t know how to cope and also support my partner

I haven’t been diagnosed. Got a cold sore on my mouth and then a month later after getting severe strep, a rash on my butt cheek appeared that looked exactly like herpes. (I’m immunocompromised btw) They could not do a swab on the rash because it was too healed up. So they said assume that you have HSV 2 until you have another outbreak and can get tested. My partner is being extremely supportive but also very stressed. I am for some reason devastated, I know that there’s a massive stigma and it’s really not a huge deal but it’s hard to be logical right now.
I don’t know how to handle my emotions. I feel isolated and feel like I can’t receive the closeness I need. All I can do is cry. With the weight of my own emotions I’m making it so much worse for my partner. It’s taking a massive toll on him. How the hell do you navigate this? Am I overreacting? How do I be supportive, understanding, and level with him while in an absolutely terrible mental state?

Humans are Weird – Snow

Original Post: http://www.authorbettyadams.com/bettys-blog/humans-are-weird-snow
Pale full-spectrum light was filtering in through the frozen precipitation on the skylights. Fifteenth-Click flew up to the next one and opened his mouth to sound the seal. He sent out the soundwave and waited for it to ping back and echo properly before he snatched a perch on the wide gripping ledge the human design left on the edges of their windows. The water cold material was clearly leaching heat from the room. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to make his winghooks twitch uneasily.
“How’s it going up there little buddy?” a voice called out from below.
Fifteenth Click glanced down and saw the diurnal maintenance worker standing by the desk, resting his upper body on his polearm of a cleaning swab. He decided that now was as good a time for his break as any and gladly released the chilling window seal and fluttered down to his coworker.
“The seals are in fact within the parameters the architects gave us,” Fifteenth Click admitted. “Nothing is leaking, the condensation is all but nonexistent, and the thermal loss is withing acceptable margins, but by the tattered wing those parameters! Why in the roots of the tallest tree in the forest do you build in extraneous movement to your structures?”
“Don’t you little guys build in flexibility to your tree cities?” the human asked with an amused smile.
“Not around critical windows designed to keep water out!” Fifteenth Click exclaimed, pulling out a juice orb and stuffing it in one cheek. “That congealed sap like substance you manufacture is something else for absorbing the movement as a seal but it is crazy to depend on it with that load of snow up there? Why not just forgo windows entirely and rely on the full spectrum artificial light sources?”
“Folks like natural light,” the human said as he began to run the swab over the floor.
“Understandable,” Fifteenth Click admitted, landing on the soft surface of the human’s hat. “Be that as it may I still don’t understand why you humans feel the need to build permanent bases in these death trap climate pockets anyway. This planet has multiple habitable zones where the air won’t suck your life out if you go outside without a thermal coating.”
“The mines are here,” the humans said with a shrug, “and we can endure the snow well enough to-”
The far door swung open with a burst of the deep, resonant notes of human song and a midsize human female came spinning into the room.
“-outside is frightful! But my dear, you’re so delightful!” she sang out as she circle the room, seemingly unaware of the two of them.
Fifteenth Click stared in fascination as he chewed thoughtfully on his orb.
“Of course,” his friend muttered, “the snow ain’t so bad but you do have to put up with this sort of nonsense from the snow lovers.”
The other human was now drifting towards them, singing some tune that seemed to be about accepting the current situation with good grace because your social group was pleasant. Fifteenth Click thought that an admirable and sensible sentiment, and he wondered what his friend found irritating in the displayed behavior. The woman finally noticed them and grinned, turning her dance to a bouncy walk in their direction.
“Did you see outside Bob?” she demanded. “Did you see? It must have snowed all night! There is like a foot of the stuff on the ground. I made a whole snow family this morning and a little sno-glu village! And the wing who roosts in my rafters even requested if they could use the sno-glus for their outdoor exercises! I am going to try and organize a company wide snowball fight this afternoon. It’s going to be tricky because of the dangers of hitting one of the Winged so we will have to cordon the area off and -”
The human glanced up at the now opaque skylights and her words turned into a squeal of delight that almost reached a normal pitch. Her feet tapped fast and rhythmically on the floor.
“There’s so much snow!”
She darted forward and placed a kiss on Bob’s cheek before darting to the door, to, presumably, go back out into the snow.
“And you do not find her positive attitude pleasant?” Fifteenth Click asked after she had gone.
Bob heaved a massive sigh and began swabbing the mop over the floor again.
“It just gets a little old,” he explained, “it gets old real quick and folks like her who had just a little bit of snow growing up stay like that pretty much all winter.”
