I have had this problem for a while now, I'm trying to enter to an old hotmail account that I had, since apparently I used it for some important things back in the day that I need now. The problem is that the account has been blocked, and to unblock it tells me it will send a code into that hotmail account... the one I can't access.
The other option it gives me is similarly useless, since I don't know much about the account, I can't answer the form well enough to retrieve the account.

So, many years ago i created a hotmail, i must have been like 9-10 years at the time. I am now trying to recover my old email, but it has been locked due to suspicious activity at some point. I can remember the password and stuff, but.... Back then i was dumb as f, so i decided put my recovery email the same as the email to recover. Meaning i cannot get a code sent to reset my hotmail. I picked a security question "my favorite historic person" and i have no idea what 9 year old me wrote there. However, i can remember all the passwords that has been used for this email. But when i try to recover the email / unblock it, the auto answer from microsoft says i havent entered enough valid information and therefore cant restore my hotmail. But how the hell am i supposed to remember those things from 16 years ago.
Does anyone have any ideas how to restore this, as microsoft support page is basicly useless, and i cant find anywhere that i can write a mail to their support, and link some kind of proof that i am who i am say i am

It just occurred to me that a subreddit such as this one might exist. About four-four and a half years ago, my email got blocked. It's a "hotmail", not an "outlook", but it's pretty much the same thing, if i understand correctly.
I've tried literally anything i could think of to unblock it. I must have tried to prove i own it like a hundred times. Every time i answer the security questions as well as i can. I provide all the info on my account i can find. I also try to use Skype contacts, and it tells me they don't even exist!
I've literally tried everything. Everything except for calling a service provider, which i'm not even sure is actually an option in my country. Obviously, i've been using a new email for the past few years, but i have info in that blocked hotmail and i would really really like to have access to it again.
Did anyone else experience this as well? I don't even know what blocked it in the first place. Does anyone have a solution for it? Should i just give up?

Unfortunately for me, Microsoft determined that my login attempt was suspicious (even though the password was correct in one go), and immediately locked my account. No problem, I had set up another email account for a recovery link. I log into the recovery account and.... that gets locked too due to *drum roll* suspicious activity.
I know that these days you simply stay logged into your smartphone, but the reason this issue came back to trigger me, was that one of my Outlook addresses recently received an email that it was 'blocked' because of 'unusual activity'. I immediately panicked because this address is my 'secure identity' account (used for bank accounts, online government accounts, etc.). Having a repeat of my previous experience would have completely screwed me (or at least inconvenienced me significantly).
Fortunately, I was able to get it unblocked (but had to use my mobile phone for some recovery code). But now it got me thinking, how exactly do I prevent this from ever happening? To add to this cruel joke, the recovery hotmail account for this 'secure identity' account is the one that got locked. Every time I try to change my security settings, it asks me to verify my identity using an email address that is locked.
And yes, I have been trying to recover my old account now that I'm back home. However, Microsoft keep giving me the runaround, telling me to fill the same old form over and over and over again, then getting automated replies rejecting my form.

A few days ago I was checking my liked pages list and a page comes up, JOT Magazine. Never heard of it? Now you do. I haven’t heard of it before but it was very strange for it to appear in the list. I’m very very very selective about the pages I like and the posts I like (for some reason) and this has led me to this sub. So when I was scrolling through the list of liked pages, a total of 70 or so, the name appears - JOT Magazine. It was weird, I opened it to see that it was liked and followed. Well, the next thing I did was to ask my mother to check her account and it was in her Liked Pages list too! Surprising? Well, my father’s account had the page in the list as well. Now, I can understand that my mother and father would have accidentally clicked like as the promotion would have appeared in their newsfeeds but me? Not a chance. So I decided to start searching for it on a google. NO TRACE! It doesn’t exist, not even the posts on reddit or other forums talking about JOT Magazine. How can someone manage to have, stay with me, 22 Million Likes!! and yet stay untraceable on Google? Some kind of Anti-SEO or something? Yes, 22 Freaking Million Likes and followers!In their about section, there are 2 important things:

Big question, how are they still in business if they don’t profit from anything and are literally getting into people’s accounts forcefully. It goes much deeper than this, I know but I can’t get to the end of this. There is no explanation at all! One user in the comments posted a theory: they're abusing a feature that allows unclaimed pages to be merged. So this page has been merging with popular unclaimed pages. Like Harambe, Nail painting, Cats, etc. And when they merge it even bypasses a block because your like and follow comes from the other page. It's extremely annoying and I'm genuinely surprised Facebook hasn't shut it down yet.This seems like a good explanation but it’s very wrong for a few reasons,
UPDATE: It seems like we have an update. JOT Magazine started appearing in my feed again! My blocked pages list So, I checked my block list and guess what? 2 Pages named JOT Magazine! And one is still out there! I wondered why it was appearing in my news feed, here's why Mysteriously Liked and followed by me (which I never did) They're still hacking facebook to get people to like the page. I've done everything but there seems no end to this. Here's everything we know so far about this third page The admin is from Kosovo The page history shows us the older names of the page So, the page name change theory is confirmed (ONLY FOR THIS 3rd PAGE) but the 'liked and followed' thing is still a mystery, definitely a hack group. |
