2024.05.20 06:30 Possible-Product-888 Burn out

I think I’ve gotten to the point of being completely jaded by this job. I got promoted last year and my new store has been a daily annoyance. There was a huge infestation problem in the dog food aisles, the store was disgusting (nobody cleans anything: shelves caked in dust, dog piss on most base decks and stack outs, literally old paperwork filed in cabinets from like 2004, etc) and getting the team to care at all has been nearly pointless.
I spend so much time at work that hearing the term “work life balance” pisses me off lol. Basically regretting taking the promotion and leaving my old store that I spent years getting to high standards. I don’t have the energy anymore to develop people who have already been with the company as long as I have and won’t change how they do things. Also customers are always insane and I can’t even pretend to hear them out or care when they’ve perceived an “issue” that literally wasn’t an issue to begin with.
Anyways, people who have quit or will be, what’s a better place to work at??

2024.05.20 06:28 satyrslynx Asset forfeiture

I know there are exemptions and such, and that our attorney will be the best answer, but I don't know when we will actually meet with him. Preliminary consult with the paralegal is next week.
I'm concerned about what assets we might be forced to sell in this process, since it seems that TN is not very generous with exemptions. We own a farm, as such, there is equipment - mainly a small tractor & various attachments, a small ride-on mower (needs repairs) and a quad for farm use (bought with a loan from a friend, also not currently running). Can we be forced to sell equipment that is needed for maintaining our property?
We have three trucks, two are our daily drivers, one is non-operational (came with the farm), and 3 motorcycles (none operational - do you sense a theme here?). A camper in unknown condition (also came with the property, hasn't been opened in 4 years), and a livestock trailer (we raise sheep). I don't know how much equity we have in the property, we had a bad/predatory refinance two years ago, and I think it's fairly low at this point (<$20k, if not $10k).
There are also my sewing and quilting machines, for my secondary business that I have been unable to get back to, some heirloom firearms with family significance, our computers (2 business, 3 personal, all 5+ years old), my business NAS/server, a small coin collection of unknown but sentimental value, and a couple professional quality musical instruments (I was originally planning a music career). We also have possession of my grandparents' coin collection, as I was in the process of inventorying and basic valuation of it for my dad & his siblings, but I DO NOT own it, the estate is theirs.
There's also the standard home furnishings and electronics, but my reading here indicates those are all 'safe.'
Certain items I don't mind selling (my ex-engagement ring, one of the instruments, the non-op truck, the camper), but the others are either key to our daily life & home (tractor, trucks, computers & peripherals, sewing machines) or significant sentimental value (firearms, coins, one of motorcycles, flute).
Am I going to be screwed simply for the value of the miscellanea that my husband and I have collected? Are we dead in the water before we ever even start?

2024.05.20 06:17 Reasonable-Pain-378 Telephoto 5x 30/60fps video unusable post update Pixel 7 Pro

Hello! it is may 20, and they still have NOT fixed such a basic problem that this phone did not have, since MARCH, the P7P telephoto lens for 30/60fps video is unusable!!! It seems to have "parkins0n" when you record on those frequencies, it is incredible that Google has not yet released an update to fix something so basic... none of the solutions that Google provided here have worked, clearing the cache and reinstalling the app does not work, It would be a great help if everyone reported this problem since the phone is unusable for recordings with x5
Here is an example of a user who reported the same problem
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1X_d59NiQtcx4KmYdVMAbRHU59xbX5Phq/view
And we are not talking about the lack of light or things like that, even the 6 pro i had recorded much better at 4k30 with the telephoto lens!
https://youtu.be/O2kb3ePQ31A?t=231
Minute 3:50
In the video at minute 3:50 the telephoto lens at 60 fps work without problems!
Please Google fix this urgently!

2024.05.20 06:16 Luigi1729 Why does the link count work different in macOS than in Linux?

https://preview.redd.it/ub7ilarpai1d1.png?width=1284&format=png&auto=webp&s=cbc36e1dd5e2277a8de8779f440ea0af05bbc94a
Hello. I hope this is a good place to ask
I am self-learning operating systems, and I was playing around with stat when I noticed this behavior on my macOS.
The Link increased from 2 to 3 after adding a file.
This is against what I expected – or at least how I understand the filesystem to work in Unix and Linux, where directories are the ones who create a link, never ordinary files. This leads me to believe that macOS's filesystem has a different implementation for linking than Linux.
Is this assumption right? If so, what's the reason for Apple to do it this way? Also – where can I learn more about the differences of MacOS and Linux filesystem implementations?
I've been running around all of the internet trying to find references to this, but to my surprise I can't find anything – and ChatGPT keeps insisting that what I just did is impossible!
(In particular, I am referencing the UNIX Time-Sharing System (Section 4) :
The file's i-node contains the description of the file as follows:
[...] 6. The number of links to the file, that is, the number of times it appears in a directory.
[...] Making a link to an existing file involves creating a directory entry with the new name, copying the i-number from the original file entry, and incrementing the link-count field of the i-node.
I tested on an actual Linux machine and it worked as expected. I don't know where to find how MacOS's implements this)

2024.05.20 06:16 ThorDiamond Overcoming VPN Issues for U.S. TikTok Accounts in 2024

Hi everyone,
I've noticed many people struggling with VPNs not working for U.S. TikTok accounts lately. Their algorithms are getting better at bypassing these methods, making it harder to manage multiple accounts.
I recently found the latest updated method that industry experts are using. It has been working flawlessly for me. I've been able to run several accounts without any issues, and I want to share this with the community.
I've put together a detailed guide in a PDF. It's the only method that has consistently worked for me, and I hope it can help you too.
Feel free to download and check it out:

2024.05.20 06:07 ManyBees3456 Resume Review for Production Assistant

Hello! I graduated from college in December, and have been trying to break into production management for animation for about a month now. I was wondering if it would be possible for someone currently working in production management to review my resume and offer feedback? I've tried my best to tailor it to production assistant roles. I could just DM a pdf of it, as I'm not sure if I can embed files here. Thank you!

2024.05.20 06:03 SurveyPsychological6 Reverse-Engineered "Secret Stock" Ads: A Way to Make Money to Counter Your AMC Losses

Hello.
This is Don Sees Your Shaydim. It's been a while.
Long-Winded Intro:
Ever sit through one of those 40 minute long ads by Whitney Tilson because you wanted to know what the fucking fuck the secret Tesla pr Apple supplier is, only to find that there’s no big reveal at the end? Instead, you’re asked to subscribe to an unaffordable newsletter. (These ads can’t be fast-forwarded!). The thing about these ads is you can figure out who these “secret” companies are, and it’s not hard. When I used to have time, I’d reverse engineer the latest 20-minute Motley Fool ad to discover the secret 5g stock, or the secret EV battery tech that will change the world.
I don’t have time like I used to. During the pandemic, I “worked” at home, which meant I spent my days yoloing into spacs and deconstructing stuff like Motley Fool and Stansberry Research reports for their stock picks. The good news is there are some devoted investors out there who have made it their jobs to take apart ads and reveal secret stocks.
If you’re looking for some plays, here are the results—the revealed stocks—from some recently reverse-engineered ads. The folks who did all this great work are Travis Johnson, who runs a fantastic online magazine called Stock Gumshoe. It is the only magazine I am subscribed to, and have been since 2020. I get a lot—if not most—of my investment ideas from Stock Gumshoe. Every single trade or investment idea that I’ve had from Gumshoe has been successful. Every single one. Every trade I’ve made because of shit I heard on YouTube has been a turd. I’m pumping this magazine because it works.
Alongside of Travis Johnson, we have Dylan Rieger. Just like Johnson, Rieger reverse-engineers ads, but on YouTube. He is prolific. His videos are roughly 10 minutes long, and they’re packed with well-curated information on each of the companies he reveals. If you’re thinking, “Why would I read a web magazine if I could just watch youtube videos?” Rieger’s videos are excellent, but Travis’s writing… he will teach you how to think. “But I don’t need to change the way I think about the market.” If you’re still fucking reading this, then chances are you suck at trading and investing. (I can already feel one or two of you typing, “Actually, ….”)
Below you will find a list of secret stocks that Johnson and Rieger revealed. I’ve listed the author of the newsletter or ad, the title of the article or presentation, the revealed stock, and relevant information. I figured that if I’ve had success this way, you might too. I like my wife’s feet, incidentally. I think they’re pretty.
Let me reiterate—I have been successful when I’ve used these sources as a starting point for a possible trade or investment. I’m a moron, however. I don’t stick with what works. I’m more likely to yolo into some garbage I heard about from a twenty-year old on YouTube. I said earlier that if you’re reading this, you probably suck at the market. But you’re probably way better than the person who wrote this. I address myself in third-person. I also like it when she wears tube socks and Doc Mertens.

Secret Stocks Revealed, May 2024
Dylan Jovine. “The New Space Race: 3 AI Stocks for Windfall Gains.” From Behind the Markets newsletter, which is currently listed at $49/yr. This focuses on defense industry AI-powered satellites, particularly speculations about defense contracts with the US Space Force. He teases several stocks, but the primary secret stock is BigBear (BBAI). BigBear has partnerships with Amazon AWS (AMZN), Palantir (PLTR), and L3Harris (LHX). Travis Johnson, whom I get almost all my info from, sees this BigBear speculation as a stretch. I agree. If BBAI does in fact get the Space Force contract: tendies. Jovine also pitches a backdoor way to get a stake in SpaceX, which is not publicly traded. The “backdoors” are the Private Shares Fund (PRIVX) and Destiny Tech 100 ETF (DXYZ). SpaceX constitutes about 35% of DXYZ. Jovine’s third stock—which is allegedly NASA’s secret AI chipmaker—is Arm Holdings (ARM).
Jason Williams. “The Exxon Slayer: The Small Firm Pioneering the Future of American Lithium.” Future Giants newsletter, which will cost you fucking $2,000. The secret stock is Standard Lithium (SLI). Totally worth a $2,000 subscription.
Shah Gilani. “Nvidia’s Secret Partner.” From Manward Monthly Report. The secret stock is Astera Labs (ALAB).
“This Tiny Canadian AI Stock Could Be the Next Nvidia.” Motley Fool Stock Advisor Canada. The secret stock: Docebo (DCBO). The company is in the e-learning realm, offering a cloud-supported platform for employee training and the like. This is not even remotely close to being Nvidia, but the company itself looks promising within its own sector.
Gerardo Del Real. “Trade of the Decade.” From Junior Resource Speculator, which is priced reasonably low—compared to Superbowl tickets or Berkshire Hathaway stock—at $2,000/yr. The secret stock is Kingsmen Resources (KNGRF). You really out to check out Travis Johnson’s reverse engineering of Del Real’s ad, and maybe consider subscribing to Stock Gumshoe, where he breaks down all sort of ads. He’s one of the best writers in this space. I have a fucking PhD. English. I hate everyone’s writing. Not his. He—Travis—also enlightens readers to similar stocks and stakeholders in that sector: Cameco (CCJ), GoGold Resources (GLDGF), Ivanhoe Mines (IVPAF), Abacus Mining (ABCFF), Cosa Resources (COSAF), Fission Uranium (FCUUF), Skyharbour Resources (SYHBF), EnCore Energy (EU), Uranium Energy Corp (UEC), Sprott Uranium Miners (URNM), Sprott Junior Uranium Miners (URNJ), Perpetual Resources (PPTA), Standard Uranium (STTD), Filo Mining (FLMMF)
Ross Givens. “Live Action War Room.” From Wall Street Watch Dogs. This ad was formerly called "The $3 AI Wonder Stock that Could Make You 75X Richer?" but was repackaged as The No. 1 AI Stock Opportunity of the Decade (Surprise: Only $6)” The secret stock is SoundHound AI (SOUN). Note: They are also pitching alongside of “The $3 AI …” “The Top Five Stocks Set to Soar in 2024.” These include Calix (CALX), SolarEdge (SEDG), Desktop Metals (DM), Adobe (ADBE), and Snowflake (SNOW).
Whitney Tilson and Porter Stansberry. “How I Cut My Salary to $1, Then Pocketed a Million Dollars in One Day With America’s New Money.” Stansberry Research. These ads don’t have clearly defined titles. This one covers a “secret US currency” otherwise called, “America’s New Money.” This is from Stansberry’s Investment Advisory. This is a weird pitch; basically, they’re suggesting that instead of buying stocks that trade on an exchange, you should buy the stock representing the exchange itself. The secret stock is CME Group (CME), otherwise known as the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. In Travis Johnson’s breakdown, he lists other publicly traded exchanges: Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), Nasdaq (NDAQ), MarketAxess Holdings (MKTX). In fact, here is his whole list: Euronext (EUXTF or ENRXY in the US), London Stock Exchange (LNSTY or LDNXF in the US), Australian Stock Exchange ASX (ASXFY, or ASXFF), São Paulo Stock Exchange Brazil (BOLSY), the Bolsa Mexicana (BOMXF), Over The Counter Markets OTC (OTCM)
Jason Simpkins. “Project Wingman.” From Secret Stock Files, which would cost you $1,999/yr. Military aircraft: Simpkins asserts that this defense contractor, Kratos (KTOS), has a “vice grip on next-generation technology that will render most of its competitors’ assets completely obsolete.” Project wingman involves using AI on fighter planes.
Keith Kohl. “The Undiscovered Tech Company Behind the Coming Trio-Fuel 238 Revolution.” Energy Investor newsletter currently listed at $99 yr. at basic level. Nuclear energy tech that’s apparently cleaner, safer, and more efficient than convention Uranium 238 tech. The secret stock is Lightbridge (LTBR).
Ray Blanco. “Did I Just Find the Hidden Cure to Cancer?” From Catalyst Trader, which would cost you $1000. The secret stock is Exscientia (EXAI). Dylan Rieger also notes that Alexander Green, another “famous” stock picker with an expensive newsletter, made EXAI the secret stock in focus for his “This Will Be the #1 Performing AI Stock of the Coming Decade” report.
Adam Odell. “Special Report #1: The AI Growth Engine” from the 10X Stocks newsletter, which is currently $995 yr. This is from the AI Power Summit, with 3 stocks “positioned to solve the AI energy problem.” The main stock is NuScale (SMR), which builds small modular nuclear reactors. The additional stocks are Centrus Energy (LEU), and Sprott Physical Uranium Trust (SRUUF).
Jason Williams. “The Tesla Killer is Here.” Wealth Advisors newsletter. Pitching “blue gas,” which is hydrogen fuel cells. The stock is Ballard Power (BLDP)
Alex Koyfman. “Lithium Volcano: Tapping the World’s Biggest Lithium Reserve.” The Crows Nest newsletter. 1 year membership is currently listed at 99$. The stock is Lithium Americas (LAC), who has a $650 million deal with GM.
Ian King. “AI Energy” presentation. Membership is currently $79. The stock is AMD (AMD)
Louis Navellier. “The Trump AI Boom: 3 Data Center Stocks with 100X Potential” and “The Second Wave of AI Comes in November.” From Growth Investor. The stocks are Innodata (INOD), Data Storage Corporation (DTST), and Applied Digital (APLD).
Luke Lango. “Elon Musk’s ChatGPT Could Soon Mint New Millionaires.” Innovation Investors Magazine, which is currently listed as on sale for $49/yr. The stock is Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM).
Luke Lango. “The Next Nvidia.” Investor Place. The stock is Lam Research (LRCX).
[Jason Williams. “The Exxon Slayer: The Small Firm Pioneering the Future of American Lithium.” Future Giants newsletter, which will cost you fucking $2,000. The secret stock is Standard Lithium (SLI). Totally work a $2,000 subscription.]()
Shah Gilani. “Nvidia’s Secret Partner.” From Manward Monthly Report. The secret stock is Astera Labs (ALAB).

2024.05.20 05:59 Kitchen_Knowledge830 Trying to pivot deeper into meeting planning, scheduling, or executive assisting. Please evaluate my resume.

I was a hospitality mgmt grad in 2021 so obviously ive been through hell and multiple career changes just trying to survive. Ive worked and interned at hotels and interned at an event hall. I left my home state, hated it, and came back and, as I love events but do not want to run my self ragged, Id like to pivot deeper in to a career in meeting planning, executive assisting, or corporate scheduling. With a possible auto immune disease that attacks my joints, gi track, and other things, physically demanding jobs and physically fast paced full on event work is for someone with better knees than me. Ha! Please tear my resume to shreds. It was born out of desperation for survival and a huge state move. It has lost alot of professional perspective. Please help! I made an accidental marking on the pic. ignore that.

2024.05.20 05:54 stonkedaddy Days to cover has dropped!!

Days to cover has dropped!!
Important to note that due to the increased trading volume the days to cover the short are drastically reduced seen it bouncing between 0.05 and 0.07. This is the amount of time it would take to buy up all the shorted stock based on the amount of trades taking place. This means the hedges can cover their position quickly if the price drops low enough DO NOT SELL. It also means when the squeeze happens, it’s gonna happen fast

2024.05.20 05:50 Sparky_McDibben Third Party Micro Review - Golden Chrome

Third Party Micro Review - Golden Chrome
Hey y'all,
Got another homebrew piece I'd like to review for y'all, this time coming from Tomasz Stawski. Mr. Stawski's account is now defunct on Reddit, but he still has an active Google Drive here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/13M8JJh1qC9VaqZ6kPM3NTXJCX10H_HHg
If that doesn't work, check the link in this post.
What I'm Reviewing:
While browsing, I noticed Golden Chrome, a repository of euro-themed cyberware and gear for Cyberpunk RED.
The book opens with a quick (non-canon) one page review of the eurozone. It doesn't go deep, but does get across the basic feeling of Europe being a gated community. After that, there's an eight-page "Referee's Tools" section that is basically a set of neat homebrew rules for (among other things) shotgun spreads, bullet dodging, and deconstructing the rules around specific items like railguns so you can make more them. Y'know, the questions that get asked once a week on this very subreddit. This basically lets you check this guy's work for later on in the book.
After that, there's another 14 pages of new euro-themed gear (everything except cyberware, which is covered later). This goes into Smart Gear (like Smart Boots, Smart Gloves, Smart Earbuds, etc.), new shields, vehicle upgrades (many of which are freaking awesome), pharmaceuticals, street drugs, and poisons.
Finally, the last twelve pages are devoted to new cyberware, including Excellent Quality cyberware, exotic cyberlimbs, and bioware.
Why I'm Reviewing It:
It rather impressed me, and I figured y'all might like a look at it, so I'm here to share. While not as interesting as a lore or source book, it has a lot of gear that reveals a new spin on how we can homebrew interesting items while remaining true to RED's core mechanics. There's nothing revelatory in this book; it won't make you a world-class homebrewer. But there were enough times I went, "Oh, that's a neat spin!" that I figured y'all might enjoy a look as well.
Similar to my last review, I'm not going to be docking points for grammar or spelling. That amnesty is extended because a) this is someone's homebrew, offered for free, b) because you can never tell when someone's ESL and c) because I don't find proofreading to be an interesting exercise.
The Good:
The gear in here is awesome, and feels like something that should exist in a Cyberpunk world. While I am hardly the guy to judge game balance, the author makes good use of price categories as a balancing point, as well as upkeep costs / ammo costs. There are also some interesting pieces like this neuralware:
Critical injuries on a failure - an interesting way to raise the stakes!
The Bad:
There's very little art in the book, and while layout isn't a nightmare, it's also hard to read at times off a screen. The other issue I have is the lack of bookmarks in the PDF - please make sure your sections are bookmarked! I would have preferred some way to tie some of these in to a larger narrative, or an ongoing story to make this matter to my players as well. Ultimately, this is a gear book, not a story book, and I think that's a bit of a weakness when we have other examples that have bridged that divide well.
To be clear, none of these are killer items - more nitpicks than anything else.
Recommendation:
It's free choom; go get it and see if there's anything you want to give your bad guys the next time they roll out. Worst case scenario, it gives you a new spin and some new ideas!

2024.05.20 05:49 TerribleSell2997 Iron Recycling Market is Dazzling Worldwide and Forecast to 2030

~Iron recycling market~ is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 7.7% during the forecast period (2023-2030). Iron can be recycled endlessly without losing any of its material properties. Steel is an iron alloy that can be recycled numerous times and used to create goods for a variety of end-user industries. The iron recycling market expanded as a result of the building industry's quick expansion and the increased need for steel in remodelling and renovation projects. The market is anticipated to rise as urbanization and industrialization both pick up pace. The disorganized movement of scrap metals tends to impede the market's expansion. By lowering CO2 emissions, scrap recycling in the steel industry is essential for the advancement of green technology. For instance, in March 2022, ArcelorMittal acquired the Scottish steel recycling company John Lawrie Metals Ltd. As part of its plan to utilize more scrap steel and reduce CO2 emissions from the steelmaking process.

Lease check: 2024 xc90 ultimate
Hey folks, wanted to get an honest opinion on the below deal setup… from a leasehackr broker. Just played with one of their advertised deals. From the looks of it, I think it’s an ok deal? High broker fee of $1000, but other than that anything about this not look great to anyone?
Pmg got cut off but it’s $868 on the calculator.
2 year, low mile lease. This is just really for around town driving as we have another main car we use.

I (19m) have had a lot of problems between my divorced parents over the years, and I thought things had mostly calmed down by now but for the past year or so problems are popping up a lot. This post will get long.
Some background: My parents (39f & 39m) divorced a long time ago, back when I was in elementary school. It was very rocky for me when I was younger, as I lived (and still live) primarily with my mom, and she had a lot to learn and figure out about parenting in general, let alone being a single mom and trying to date to put her life together as best she could. Her dad, and my grandfather, was very rough on her when she was younger, and as a result she had a tough time trying to get on her feet and go to college, on top of my parents getting pregnant with me pretty young. After a while, she figured it out, and now I live with my mother, my stepdad (41m), my brother (14m) and a newborn sister who's a little over 2 months old.
I started college last fall at a prestigious & expensive STEM school I've dreamed of attending for a very long time. I had a very rough first year, as I've learned that I'm what people consider a "gifted kid" and never really learned a lot of things integral to learning and studying which made me burnout very fast and get lost easily. I'm going to be doing some personal coaching / therapy to see if I can work on this for this coming fall. Because of the price, my dad was very adamant about my joining an Army ROTC program on campus to earn a scholarship to cover my tuition, and in exchange I will be contracted to serve as an Officer for 8 years; 4 years active duty and another 4 in reserve. My dad is an Army vet and felt that it would be best for me to do, on top of him also having experience enough with the Army to help me. The process of discussing this stressed me out a lot over the summer as a rising freshman, and that's in addition to a lot of pressure from him to join the Air Force or Naval Academies instead of my dream school for the benefits. It stressed me out a lot, and it was very hard for me to articulate my discomfort with the entire thing since my dad basically gave me a recruitment speech for everything and broke it down on the basis of merit and reward rather than what I would be willing and able to do.
After a lot of turmoil between my parents and grandparents (grandfather & grandmother on my moms side who i will refer to as such; grandparent on my dad's side isn't relevant) we got my dad to relent and I committed to my dream school for that year. I also did go along with the ROTC plan since I do need the money, and I have found that for the most part I enjoy being in ROTC. During this time there have also been a lot of other issues but it would be too many to recount here.
Now for my problem.
My dad figured out about a Veterans Affairs rep on my campus, and we filed for a stipend that would pay out money to me as a dependent college student of a veteran. From filing this I would receive $1200 every month during school months.
My grandfather intended on buying me a car following high school graduation, but because of my dorm situation, decided to wait until after my first year of college since I wouldn't be able to use it until then anyway.
My dad discussed with my grandfather about keeping half of my stipend payments (which are wired to his bank account when they roll out at the start of every month) to save and giving me half. His reasoning was that my grandfather can be very difficult to work with sometimes, and he wanted to make a good impression on him by giving him money I would have saved to help cover insurance costs or other related things on the car once my grandfather buys it. The issue I and my mother took with this at first was that I had no say in how they decided things, but at that point I couldn't bring myself to say anything and sort of rolled over to go along with it.
Now, my grandfather is beginning to look for a car for me, but given my situation with finances and other things I ended up covering, I really need that money. I'm hoping for an internship at a company a family friend works at so that I can still have an income over the summer, but there's no guarantee, and I want to have my money accessible to me for what I need, and I trust myself to make sure I have what I need left over to pay for my car for the 2-3 months I will have it before I go back to school and my stipend starts again. I texted my dad about it yesterday, but he gave me a runaround about needing to "play things smart" with my grandfather, asking why my mom doesn't give me the child support money my dad pays her, and telling me that I need to be responsible and make sure that I'm contributing to my car with that money instead of leaving it all up to my grandfather.
I took a major issue because it wasn't my decision. I don't see how I'm being responsible and saving the money for the grandfather when it's in an account I can't access, and my dad was going to be the one giving it to him. I also didn't understand why I was trusted to sign up for the Army but not manage a few thousand dollars to save for car insurance. I wasn't able to properly articulate everything I thought and felt over text, but I questioned a lot of things and talked to my mom about what would be best for me. My dad also wanted me to set up a bank account with Navy Federal, which he uses, since he can instantly transfer the money to me if I really wanted it. I already have a bank account and I saw no reason to make another one. Apparently he wanted to avoid using Venmo so the money wouldn't be classified as income, and he wanted to make sure he could transfer money to me easier and also secure the bank's benefits for me early.
Today, I talked to my grandparents about the situation to see where things stood regarding the car and what money they needed. My grandfather had already called my dad and said I should have the money, and that if I blow it all before he gets the car then it'll be my problem when I can't pay for the insurance. My grandmother agreed with him and that was their stance on it. My mom also texted my dad in this time establishing that he shouldn't ask about a new bank account (he asked about it before and we told him no), and that she felt the need to step in because the situation has been very frustrating for me and I don't know how to approach these kinds of conversations with my dad anyway. He responded very aggressively and rudely and they didn't say anything beyond that.
He eventually came by to give me a check for that money and drop off my brother who had spent the weekend there, and he talked to me about how he felt alienated from me since I wasn't talking to him much over the past few months, being upset that I went to my mother about my problems instead of being a "grown man" and talking to him about it, and fighting so much about the money which gave the impression that I didn't trust him. I had a lot of feelings and thoughts, but I couldn't bring myself to say what I really felt when I spoke to him. I basically ended up saying what I needed and just let him leave.
This whole situation has me very upset, and I'm honestly feeling worse now after I have that money than I did before I asked him for it. I don't understand why I feel this way. I don't understand why it's so hard for me to talk to my dad but I get so nervous and anxious that I just can't be as open with him as I would be with my mom.
I just want help from others who may have experienced this kind of situation before, and to know if I'm going about the situation and/or my relationship with my dad wrong. So, AITA?

DDintoIRAs Part 1: Prerequisite Information for DRSing Shares Held in an IRA

Ownership vs Control

Separating these two concepts is important to figure out the issue apes have been having with respect to DRSing shares held in an IRA. This might be intuitive, but IMO explicitly defining this helps.
Ownership Control
Referred to as Shareholders Employees
Roles & Responsibilities Big Picture Decision Day-to-day Operations
Incentive? Share value increase, dividends. Salary/Wage
As a shareholder you partake in big picture decisions, such as electing members to the Board of Directors to represent your interests, voting on executive compensation plans, and other matters brought to a shareholder vote. As a shareholder you do not have the authority/right to enter a GameStop retail location and work the cash register for the day. You do not have the right to attend employee meetings at GameStop HQ in Texas. Those responsibilities are left to the employees.

Business Entities/Structure

This chart is going to do most of the heavy lifting for this section. You can ignore the Sole Proprietorship, General Partnership, and S Corporation if you want, as they aren’t relevant to this DD (as far as I’m aware). As a side note - one of my professors told me that Sole Proprietorships should never be used in general, and I feel obligated to pass that recommendation on. Either way it will not be relevant. C Corporations are only relevant so far as the fact that GameStop is a C Corporation, so you can use that as a comparison if needed.
What I’m really interested in here is the Limited Liability Company, or LLC. Forming an LLC requires filing some paperwork with the appropriate government agency, and you will probably need to file an Operating Agreement, which is basically Corporate Bylaws but for an LLC. These documents are legally binding when done properly and should hold up if challenged in court (as far as I’m aware; I’m not a lawyer). LLCs also exist perpetually as a separate legal entity. Less formal requirements than a corporation so should be easier to set up. Management is outlined in the Operating Agreement. LLCs use pass through taxation, which means that responsibility for paying taxes gets passed on to the owners of the LLC. Terms for transferring interest, if any, are also included in the Operating Agreement.
Now is also probably a good time to mention Trusts as another business entity type. Trusts are similar to LLCs, except the main differences are there are no forms to file with a government agency and no liability protection for the owners. These business entities all use different terminology to describe roles, listed in the chart below:
Ownership Control
C Corporation Shareholders Employees
LLC Member(s) Manager(s)
Trust TrustoBeneficiary Trustee
You should note that LLCs can have a single owner, referred to as a “Single Member LLC” or “SM LLC”. I don’t know where your mind goes when you see those letters typed like that but I’m personally immature and, well…

What is an IRA?

IRAs were introduced through the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA).
26 U.S. Code § 408 (parts bolded by me for emphasis)
  • For purposes of this section, the term “individual retirement account” means a trust created or organized in the United States for the exclusive benefit of an individual or his beneficiaries, but only if the written governing instrument creating the trust meets the following requirements:
(1)Except in the case of a rollover contribution described in subsection (d)(3) or in section 402(c), 403(a)(4), 403(b)(8), or 457(e)(16), no contribution will be accepted unless it is in cash, and contributions will not be accepted for the taxable year on behalf of any individual in excess of the amount in effect for such taxable year under section 219(b)(1)(A).
(2)The trustee is a bank (as defined in subsection (n)) or such other person who demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Secretary that the manner in which such other person will administer the trust will be consistent with the requirements of this section.
(3)No part of the trust funds will be invested in life insurance contracts.
(4)The interest of an individual in the balance in his account is nonforfeitable.
(5)The assets of the trust will not be commingled with other property except in a common trust fund or common investment fund.
(6)Under regulations prescribed by the Secretary, rules similar to the rules of section 401(a)(9) and the incidental death benefit requirements of section 401(a) shall apply to the distribution of the entire interest of an individual for whose benefit the trust is maintained.
This section gives some useful information that can be combined with the previous two sections to find out a bit more. The fact that an IRA is actually a Trust is helpful to know, and by reading this section and understanding how ownership and control works within business entities it becomes easier to see the problem that some have been having trying to DRS shares held in an IRA.

A father in a Facebook group reports that the mother of his children will not let him see his child unless he has sex with her.
Here is my response in the hopes that it helps other fathers and their children, and to protect parents from exortion, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. Those doubting the authenticity of reports such as this are invited to join fathers groups on Facebook and observe how sadly common such posts are there.
I'm not an attorney and this is not legal advice.

Consider an emergency motion to change custody to prevent the abusive parent from using access to the child for the puroposes of domestic violence. Illinois but other states are similar:
When There Are Grounds for An Emergency Motion
When considering restricting parental responsibilities the court will consider additional factors and the factors set out below will give you an idea of what the court deems an emergency:
Abuse, neglect, or abandonment of the child;
Abusing or allowing abuse of another person that had an impact upon the child; Use of drugs, alcohol, or any other substance in a way that interferes with the parent’s ability to perform caretaking functions with respect to the child; and Persistent continuing interference with the other parent’s access to the child, except for actions taken with a reasonable, good-faith belief that they are necessary to protect the child’s safety pending adjudication of the facts underlying that belief, provided that the interfering parent initiates a proceeding to determine those facts as soon as practicable.

Children Over 14
If your child is over the age of 14, they are able to testify in court as part of your custody battle unless the judge finds that doing so is not in the best interests of the child. They must also state the reasons for the prohibition on the record. Although a child over the age of 14 is likely to be allowed to state a preference regarding custody, the final decision still resides with the judge.

2024.05.20 05:30 Elegant_Charity_9948 late on filing need help

Hello! So basically, I am late on filing for the last two years. I was self-employed part time but I did not make a lot of money. $10,000 in 2022 and 8,000 in 2023. I had a lot of unexpected financial hardships that caused me not to make the smartest decision about setting money aside for taxes. I know it was a really bad decision. I just recently got back on my feat and got a new job. I want to call the IRS, file, and set up a payment plan if possible. I know I will have penalties and I am prepared for that but I'm worried about calling. I want to see if I can set up a payment plan starting next month in June but I'm worried if I call they will garnish my wages this month. I need my full paycheck this month in May to pay for rent. My job just started so I will have more money coming in starting at the beginning June. Does anyone have experience with this? Is the IRS understanding? Are they usually open to payment plans with people who are late on filing? I know I made a bad choice so I don't need a lecture just hopefully some good advice.
