2024.05.08 21:46 yeetbarf My Carvana Purchase / Warranty Experience - April 2024.

Hi all,
I just wanted to write my overall experience with Carvana. As I feel this will help someone with questions or doubts. This would have helped me and I know that it has been talked about numerous times already so I will try and not repeat everything in detail. Sorry if this may be too long.
For some context, I have been looking for a new car to replace my 2001 BMW 740i Dinan that I just felt like it was not worth investing money into. I was scared that if I fixed this one issue, it will just turn into a ball of countless issues later. So I have decided to get rid of it for really cheap to move on. I always bought cars private party and was against buying from a dealer. I am a huge car enthusiast and I have always brought Carvana into question, so I said why not and took the risk.
I have read countless experiences with Carvana before making the decision to purchase a car from them. I have read countless issues from delivery issues, cars not clean etc. But I have also ready of countless amazing items such as SilverRock's warranty, the simple purchasing experience and delivery, etc. So it is a mix of 50-50 I guess depending on where you live. This is based in California, San Diego County.
------------------------------------------------
Overall the buying experience was very simple, easy to use. I already had a car in mind that I have been wanting personally for quite some time and finally landed on a Dark Blue 2017 Audi A3 FWD with 67k Miles. It looked excellent from the pictures even though it was annoying to not get fully blown up pictures. I have searched and read every-single-detail about this car by what was provided including the car fax. I decoded VINS, saw what packages it came with from factory etc.
What really drew me to this car was the amount of care that the previous owner had invested. It was a 2 owner car with the previous owner driving less than 8k miles a year and it was always a California car (LA-Pasadena). It was serviced at every interval since new, 10k,20k,30k,40k,50k,60k etc. It never saw a private shop. I wanted something like this as I like my car's as OEM as possible and if it was dealer maintained that gave me better feelings. And after countless research on this car and its common issues, the other biggest thing for me was the replacement of the transmission mechatronics unit which was replaced 100 miles at the Audi Dealer in Pasadena before being sold to Carvana. I got this information when I called the Audi Dealer with the VIN and they provided me this information which was even more motivating for me to purchase the car.
So I decided to purchase it, I financed it through Carvana, Gave a down payment, I did not opt for the extended warranty as I can decide to add this later if I wanted to and completed the transaction on April 19th, 2024 with a scheduled pick-up date for April 22nd, 2024. I was excited. However the next day I got a text/email stating my car was delayed and it got pushed for pick up on the 29th. I was a bit bummed, but I had to teach myself to be patient as I always get too excited and then things take a turn. But I sucked it up and waited.
Note that after I did purchase the car, I immediately scheduled a Pre-Purchase Inspection at Audi of San Diego. I talked to the service rep and explained that I just purchased this car from Carvana and would like an overall inspection done before the 7-day return policy expired after I received the car. They were able to get me scheduled and obviously had to re-schedule due to the delay. The cost of the inspection was $270 out the door.
So the days were counting down. 2 days before the delivery date I got a call from a 619 number that I did not answer as I don't pick up calls from numbers I do not know. (More on this next) And the days just kept getting closer.
Came delivery day, April 29th 2024. I got a text from my Carvana Advocate stating that he was excited for me to pick up my new car and that he will be the point of contact. However, he did mention to me that the water pump had been replaced as the check-engine light came on after the car got delivered to them. This was immediately addressed and that the car is currently in the shop getting resolved and getting smogged so it is ready for pick up by 5PM. Me and my wife got to the pick up location a bit early around 4:30PM and I walked in and greeted my Advocate. He did state that his supervisor tried contacting me to let me know about the water pump. Which explains the 619 number. So that was on me. Then again, I was expecting a voicemail to be left but there was none. Anyway, he let me know that it is on its way and that they had to complete a drive cycle (to make sure that there are no coolant leaks or issues after the water pump replacement) and completing the smog. Totally understandable. So me and wife grabbed something to eat and finally I got a text saying that the car arrived and they had to put the temporary plates on the car, and put it into the Carvana vending machine (For the experience).
Once we got there, we signed the remaining paperwork with my Advocate, he gave me the coin and the car was finally in my hands. Inspecting it at face value, it looked exactly like it did in the pictures, tires looked good, interior was clean (besides a bit of white stains from whatever they used to clean the interior which I did get off) and was overall very happy. Driving home, the car felt excellent and felt new. Smooth as butter, no weird noises, no funny business. I checked overall fluids like brake fluid, oil and coolant levels as well as functions like A.C, transmission shifting etc. All checked boxes for me.
Then came the next day April 30th for the PPI at Audi of San Diego. My Service Rep was very friendly about the process and took about 3 hours to complete. I did make him aware that I did have a 7-day return policy and a 100-day warranty or 4,163 miles whichever comes first. They went over everything on the car front to back, underneath and top side. What made this even better was they included a video that the technician provided showing his findings, cost of parts, and labor to resolve it and this was the result:
1. Huge oil leak coming from the top valve cover and timing cover. The technician recommended a CAM BRIDGE RESEAL.
Parts: $187.52
Labor: 8x269.00= $2152.00,
Granted, this does not surprise me with European cars. This is common for me as I have seen this on BMWs, Mercedes, etc. I was not expecting PERFECTION. The oil leak was not leaking crazy like it was pouring. It was just seeping slowly that just built up over time. But overall, that only issue they found. My tires were in great shape with about 75% of tread life left, Brake pads are new on all 4 corners, no exhaust leaks, no frame damage, no nothing.
Next step was to call SilverRock immediately. I had my service rep call them directly on the number provided by Carvana, they explained what they found and SilverRock confirmed they will cover the costs with the deductible (Out of Network) $350. I had nothing but SOLID communication between my service rep and silver rock over email. Nothing was left out or hidden. They both handled everything perfectly.
My appointment for this is now scheduled for this Friday, May 10th and will take 2.5 days to address.
All in All, my overall experience with Carvana and Silver Rock has been amazing. Maybe I got lucky because I did my research and invested time going over everything? Not sure. But I am so happy with my experience that the next car I buy for my wife will more than likely be through them. As long as you take advantage of the 7-day return policy, 100-day warranty and get a pre purchase inspection completed immediately after like everyone else states I highly recommend it.

2024.05.08 18:01 dschazam Gebrauchte Zoe: Risiko eines internen Kurzschlusses

Hi,
bin gerade auf eine gebrauchte Renault Zoe gestoßen mit BJ 2021.
Im VIN Report steht nun etwas von „Rufbereitschaft“. Risiko eines internen Kurzschlusses unter Sicherheit.
Genauer Text: NUMBER OF APPEARANCES: 31 RISK OF INTERNAL SHORT CURCUIT TO THE BATTERY RISK OF INTERNAL SHORT-CIRCUIT TO THE BATTERY. CONTROLLING THE BATTERY AND REPLACING THE MODULE IF NECESSARY.

2024.05.08 17:43 Original-Newbie 2016 A3 Trim Confusion

Hi all,
Soon to be new to the club, just put a deposit on a 2016 A3 at reputable dealer (it was a previous trade-in at a Toyota).
During the test drive I noticed there’s no backup camera, and so I start researching the trims a bit more. The VIN decoding sites are quite confusing, as 50% of the sites say it’s Progressiv, and 50% say it’s Premium Plus (I’m told they’re the equivalent, just USA/Canada, I’m in Canada), and also half say manufactured in Hungary or Germany.
Even more curious is that all research says that 2016 models had backup cameras as standard… but also that Audi trims can be confusing and change based on region.
Does anyone know if this is “normal”, or a red flag? I suppose I could technically forfeit my deposit and walk away, but otherwise the car appears to be mint condition and I was getting quite excited.
Thanks in advance!

I made it go boom haven't tried to turn her over the mechanic Jordan from the TV show rust restorers said I got a hole in my short block engine is done? People want parts truck is still good overall I just abused her with regular gas no oil change oil and tricked her out of limp mode to blow her up. If he didn't say there was a hole in the block I was hoping it could be just spark plugs. No oil came running out. Should I try to turn her over? Is it possible its not fried? I got people interested in a few parts. I just bought a parts truck and fell in love with it not sure if I should save my flatdeck, sell it, scrap it, part it out, or fix it I bought this new truck for 4k CAD (the deck was 7k CAD from the dealership blew up 48 hours after I bought it - got 1500 CAD back from the dealership so I'm into her for 5500 CAD + 4k parts truck)...
Cheapest engine I found for a direct replacement was about 600 dollars from a US wrecker but not a guaranteed running core just a core with no hole in it.
Dieselconversion sounds good however I'm out of funds to keep this going and Canada doesn't have as many options as America for financing parts.
Any hope in saving this girl? Rest of her is fine I came back from vacation and forgot about checking oil of all things I checked on this I didn't do that.

2024.05.07 09:54 iamkedzia Buying advice – low mileage, certified preowned 530i xDrive from 2019 (pre-LCI)

I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on a 2019 BMW 530i xDrive with 30k miles on the clock. What's really sweetening the deal is that it's backed by a 2-year limited warranty from the official dealer shop. Price (after some negotiations): approx. 40k USD (currency converted).
I wanted to tap into the collective wisdom of this community to ensure I'm making the right move.
The car is jam-packed with cool features - but it's safe to say I won't be using all of them that often.
Here's a decoded VIN:
https://bimmer.work/vin/w0f764e8191c5bb84deaca06c1dd54fc2/options/
Now, about that warranty. It covers most major components, but there are a few exclusions like plastic components of the suspension and wear items.
Any red flags I should watch out for when inspecting the car? And what about maintenance costs for a BMW in its 5th year and later on (I plan to drive it for the next 3-4 years max, making 10k miles a year max)?
I'd really appreciate any insights or advice you guys can offer before I make this big decision.
Many thanks,
Matt.

Hey guys, I'm working on a VIN decoder that can decode as much information about a Indian vehicle as much as it can.

Chassis Vin Decoding
Recently bought a c20 frame but I’m having a hard time deciphering the vin on the chassis. None of the decoders I’ve seen have an option for D as the second Letter or the J as the 3rd. Honestly the whole thing is off. Any help is appreciated.

New to me 2020 TRD pro
I snagged this used with 70k miles.. dealer messed up and had it listed as a TRD OR and priced it as such. I had been searching and searching for a metallic gray in my price range and just happened to check true car (which I’ve never used) and found this one. It was listed on all the other sites as a TRD OR, but true car I guess decodes the vin and populates the trim. Only mods i want to do (for now) it upgrade the crappy lighting

2024.05.02 17:05 Zhombe GM Buick Encore GX Shift to Park TSB

In case people encounter the shift to park error when trying to park their 2020-2023 Buick GX apparently it’s a very widespread issue.
Fault is caused by spread contacts on the park shift sensor in the shifter assembly. I assume this is also because the bushings and shifter is so loose even when brand new it allows too much play and any lean on the rod side to side is directly translated to the electrical contacts.
(One would think they would use a Hall effect sensor instead of physical contact for a high duty cycle and dirty corrosive environment like this).
Shifter assembly is defective and replacement parts may come from the same faulty batch.
One of the local dealers thankfully had 7 of the replacements in stock, showing they’re finally getting serious and probably ramping up for a campaign. Unfortunately mine is 1500 miles out of warranty but at least it’s an easy enough fix.
Relevant TSB is here.
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10248715-0001.pdf
There’s also lawsuits in progress now requesting a recall campaign be initiated.
One other note… on this particular vehicle the GM EPC catalog lists the wrong part number and only the one on the TSB fits. But the vin decoder gets the wrong engine on this one too. And it’s factory that way. Your mileage may vary with the GM parts catalogue. Check the pin connector on yours for a line or rectangle pin out arrangement. The assemblies look similar except for the electronic coupling.

2024.05.01 23:58 i_wanna_learn_things Megane 3 1.5 dci trouble codes

Megane 3 1.5 dci trouble codes
Hi can anyone she some light on these codes? i have replaced cam sensor and testes for power at 3 pin plug and the fault remains! car history is i bought it as non runner and there was more codes fuel rail pressure and anothe fuel related code. i had suspicion of timing being off after the cam sensor not curing the fault and the timing was out as the belt tensioner had let go. new timing belt and tensioner and marks lined up etc.
The car will start with easy start but you have to keep it revved up about 1500 rpm or it stalls out and wont restart unless the fuel primer bulb is pumped and easy start sprayed in the intake. the engine sounds fine surprisingly and it will drive on its own steam, thought it would sound like a bag of hammers if i'm honest. the primer bulb is not the factory one and doesn't have a check valve i think that is the reason it wont idle.
I am struggling to understand the codes after replacing the sensor and also getting voltage at the 3 pin plug.
Thanks

2024.05.01 21:43 Natural-Suspect-4893 DCC & Sport Suspension together?

Looking at Mk8 golf Rs and see many ads in Germany that list both DCC and Sports Suspension together
Can these two optionals coexist or are the sellers hoping you get duped by having a dcc functionality within the software despite the suspension being passive?
What’s a good way to find the cars optionals? Do vin decoders like BMWs work for VW?
Any help would be appreciated!

What's the best way to find out exactly what my car was factory optioned with?
Is there a VIN Decoder or something to that effect?
Also, any tips for new owners would be appreciated too. (I'm coming from a 2008 A5 S-line so am somewhat familiar).

2024.05.01 03:34 Cloudscrash325 Need help decoding a 1976 CB 750.

The title says it I’ve kind of looked high and low and I don’t really understand the whole decoder process so high and low is probably pretty minimal for me.
I’m trying to order a new stator off of CB 750 because RM stator doesn’t have the part in stock for my bike.
The frame starts with cb750-2573xxx The engine starts with cb750-2463xxx
Not that I’m trying to hold all my information, but I just don’t know how safe it is to post the entire engine vin and frame Vin online lol.
I’ve tried Vin sites but everything under 1980 is no good for look up so if somebody has a decoder website, that would be helpful to. Thanks all.

2024.05.01 01:26 tzcreepsy I have a 2011 Saab 93 Turbo4, I think... Please help.

I have a 2011 Saab 93 of some sort. The badge on the back used to say Turbo4 but has since fallen off. I've had it for 5 years now and It's been great to me, up until recently when I hit 100k miles. I've regularly done standard maintenance and my father, who owned it before me, sent it to a shop to get the services before it was in my name, they frequently had issues finding the correct parts. So, the reason I'm confused: The brake pads were getting low, so, I've gotten them replaced recently but the ones we got at first didn't fit. Even though it was recommended for my car from multiple different vendors. My mechanic somehow found the correct ones. I would give you the actual part number for the correct ones but my mechanic has that. I also just got spark plugs, they were wrong too. He's trying to find the correct ones right now. I don't know what's going on or what car I have. When I decode the vin it says on some websites that it's a 2.0T and on others it says Turbo4. I'm not sure which one I have and I would like to know very badly. Thank you to anyone who can provide any help.
Edit: Sorry, it may be a little weird to read, I typed it quickly and don't feel like fixing it.

Headlight finally died, what next?
According to an online VIN Decoder, my car has Xenon lights. I want to change my daytime running lights from the yellow colour to a white colour.
On FCP Euro and Amazon, I’m seeing all different kinds of bulbs. (H7, H8, H9, D1S). I’m not sure what the difference is.
I just want the daytime lights to look nice and clear, I see a lot of other people’s cars on this sub with clear, bright, white angel eyes.

My new ride. Can anyone help me with recognizing the model year?
Hello,
That's my new baby. A 2nd gen sv650s, the silver one (full silver, frame is silver as well).
I have just one doubt: this bike was first registered in Italy in 2007. But, in 2007, there were no silver frame svs produced. So I was thinking this may be a 2003 model, never sold for as long as 4 years.
Serial number is not helping: i tried many vin decoders, i also asked chatgpt, no luck in understanding the correct fabrication year.
Can anyone please confirm (or deny) that silver frame silver tank sv650s were only produced until 2003? Or there is even the slightest possibility this bike was produced after 2004?
I would really appreciate my bike having 20+ years (i could then register it in some kind of historical register and save some money with insurance).
Thanks a lot!
