My disorganized thoughts of Far Harbor [Ending Spoilers for DLC]

2024.05.18 00:30 LilaBeldam My disorganized thoughts of Far Harbor [Ending Spoilers for DLC]

I'm currently coming up on the end of my first ever time playing through the far harbor dlc. I've save scummed my way through some sections to examine my options and honestly, I don't like any of them.
The writing is excellent. There are so many layers involved that no matter what I choose I don't come out feeling like the 'good guy.'
Starting with DiMA. He is a major problem. But, I don't see him as irredeemable. Think about where his origins begin. Unlike Nick Valentine, his programing didn't have any human core. He was an AI the institute tried to teach humanity to. That in and of itself gave him a poor starting point toward understanding empathy. Because the institute's own sense of empathy is skewed. But, nick was there. Someone he saw as a brother. Probably the first real connection he had to his own sense of artificially constructed humanity.
And then after they escaped, nick forgot about him. Nick /attacked/ him. That had to have affected him in some way. But, he still opted to eventually try and reach out for those victims of the institute that were suffering line him. Other synths. But, in that same thread he didn't have any human friends to guide him. High confessor Martin maybe but, being an important religious figure to a zealotous group makes him ill equipped to give DiMA a better baseline on human behavior and psychology.
All of the synths that seek his protection know that they are synths. So, even though they are close enough to human to serve as possible examples, they are just so grateful to feel as if they don't need to fear the institute that they aren't going to challenge him. Either like cog who calls Acadia a "fake utopia" but acknowledges that it's still the best available option for many synths . . . or like Faraday who is genuinely so worshipful and grateful to DiMA that he doesn't think to question the morality of his leader's decisions. It's pretty much established that any humans present think that they are synths, so their behavior toward DiMA is generally going to fall into those 2 camps. In all circumstances he's never had a true peer or example to model after.
He's basically a more complex version of current AI. He can only draw from what's modeled for him. And his base models come from the institute. Which is probably why his logical patterns exist in this hypocritical 'the end justifies the means' space that's at odds with the compassion he has learned toward others. So all he can think to do is boil it down to numbers.
But, it's not like he doesn't want to understand. Which is why he can be convinced to turn himself in for Avery's murder. And his only request is that you can be sure that the people depending on him aren't wiped out for his mistakes. I think him atoning for his crime is super important. But, I think that the only possible penalty being death is tragic. I can't blame the people of Far Harbor for sentencing him in this way. But, had he been allowed to live while still coming clean, he might have had an actual chance at not just redeeming himself but, also truly building true bridges and human connections. For himself, and for the people of Far Harbor and Acadia.
After working my way through children of Atom quests. I can't help but think about how terrified the lay people are in that community. There are multiple people you can turn in for Heresey at the behest of the high confessor and his men. I didn't do that obviously. Being a smooth skin ghoul that wants to spend all their time praying to radiation is wierd but ultimately not dangerous in and of itself. And you can't really force someone to change their way of thinking from a religious practice.
Unseating any thought process that is foundational to one's identity often takes more than a couple of conversations. (Just look at how quickly danse doubles down on his beleifs in 'blind betrayal' and just leaves the choice in your hands). There is only one woman from the nucleus that you can meet that fully rejects atom. But, she doesn't know how to do that besides replacing the 'glow' with something else 'the nothing.' Her frame of mind didn't actually change. She just replaced one 'god' with another. That's not even getting into people who are there for other reasons. There's one man who has no special resistance to rads that risks getting sick simply because being at the nucleus gives him shelter, family, and three square meals a day. Another admits she lost her family and that the children of atom rescued her from certain death as a small child. [It's entirely possible that her new family was responsible for that but, if so she's unaware.]
So many of the followers of Atom are victims to the rhetoric and their own personal circumstances. If they weren't being told constantly that they need to force atom's glow on people, they'd just be a quirky cult compound. DiMA's suggestion of killing the current leader and replacing them is morally reprehensible and only a temporary solution. But, it does come from a frank understanding that the rigid orwellian enforcement of their dogmatic thinking is the problem. Not the fact that these people exist.
But, that's wishful thinking. It would take a perfect set of circumstances with the stars aligned and a tremendous amount of luck to possibly push the dissenters down a path that might lead to true long term reform. A best case scenatio would be a reform that punishes forceful radiation dosing of non believers, and doctrine of only offering a hand to willing converts that might choose of their own volition to seek a home with them.
But that is extremely unlikely.
And alllllllll of that aside. Even if still determines that it's best for the greater good to get rid of the children of atom completely . . . Why is blowing them up with a radioactive payload the only option? Wouldn't that make the fog worse and still be dangerous for the people of Far Harbor? They are barely managing as is, even with all the potential help we can provide. If DiMA is executed for his crimes and the children of atom are gone, that leaves a ticking clock on their fragile peace. (Not to mention the other sects of the children of atom that might hear about what happened and might declare some sort of religious war on the island while martyring those that were lost.)
There's no evidence that anyone in Acadia is capable of establishing themselves as an effective replacement for their leader. And Far Harbor is dependant on those condensers. If dropping a nuclear bomb on the children of atom makes the fog worse, and the new leader of Acadia is incapable of managing good relations with Far Harbor, then the moment the Harbormen get desperate they're just going to attempt to take what they need from Acadia by force and even more will die on both sides.
But, if you go with DiMA's plan . . . He doesn't learn anything. He doesn't have to actually be penalized for his actions. By his logic patterns he'll have been justified in the choices he's made up to that point. And if that thought process just Continues unchecked, there's no telling what kind of monster he may eventually evolve into. And that's just as bad.
idk. No matter what I decide I'm left with uncertainty. The issues at play in this DLC are very compelling and I applaud Bethesda for their excellent work. 😌
TLDR; The factions woven into the narrative of Far Harbor are excellently written. And all the 'peaceful' endings have merits as well as drawbacks.

2024.05.14 12:09 Harrsh_On_Reddit The Enclave being a "traitorous group of rebels", as noted by Paladin Danse.

I always wondered why Paladin Danse called The Enclave a "traitorous group of rebels" when you talk to him. I remember simply thinking, "How can they be traitors if they were never apart of the Brotherhood to begin with?". I can understand the Brotherhood calling them rebels, due to history being written by the victor and if you accept that the Capital Wasteland is sovereign territory of the Brotherhood, at least when Elder Lyons arrives, then yes, the conflict can be seen as an act of rebellion by The Enclave against the Brotherhood (can The Enclave see the Brotherhood as rebels against the US government, sure but they didn't win so they can't control the historical narrative).
So, what are The Enclave betraying within the Brotherhood's eyes, exactly? Humanity? I think that the Brotherhood is a bit more pragmatic and precise when it comes to conceptions of "humanity" to disallow for the definition to be stretched so broadly as to consider the US government traitors at the time of Roger Maxson discovering the horrors of West Tek at Mariposa. It is also known that the Brotherhood rebelled against the government at the time, so The Enclave would have more of a justification for labelling the Brotherhood as traitors. We can also see that the Brotherhood doesn't call other enemy factions traitors such as the NCR, Caesar's Legion or the Institute, so what would make The Enclave so special as to be considered as "traitors"? I consider this to be a rather weak argument to understand how The Enclave are traitors...
Maybe it has to do with a series of internal betrayals within the Enclave itself? For example, Col. Autumn in Fallout 3 turning against President Eden? I suppose, this may be stronger than the first argument, but it confuses the intention of Danse labelling them as "traitors". Danse denoted that The Enclave are betrayers of the Brotherhood, not just themselves as an organization. So, that begs the question again "what exactly did The Enclave do to betray the Brotherhood?".
There is also a third option... Bethesda simply goofed and shouldn't have written the Brotherhood as understanding the conflict as an act of armed treason against a faction without a treasonous context. I prefer this argument as it makes the most sense and we can see that Bethesda has a history of doing strange things with the lore...
I just wanted to share my thoughts, I honestly think that all of the positions have their flaws and I am not invested in an absolute understanding of trying to understand what Paladin Danse meant, but it did make me very curious to think about it...
tl;dr:
Paladin Danse: The Enclave are "a traitorous group of rebels"
Me: wdym by that? 🤔

2024.05.11 14:31 Lehrasap History: How the Enmity against the Jews started

Summary:
Following the migration to Medina, Muhammad initially sought to win favor with the Jews by altering the Qibla from Mecca to Bait al-Muqadass and incorporating many Jewish rulings into Islamic Sharia. However, this effort at appeasement quickly turned into deep-seated enmity and animosity.
The turning point came when:
As a result, their exposure of Muhammad as a false prophet marked the end of Jewish appeasement and the onset of intense anger and hostility towards them.

The TEST of "Miracle of Fire":
The Bible contains several passages that highlight the phenomenon of divine acceptance of a person's sacrificial offering through the appearance of a mysterious fire that consumes the offering. These instances can be found in verses such as Judges 6:20-21, 13:19-20, and 2 Chronicles 7:1-2.
Actually, Muhammad had already made a mistake, and he had also previously confirmed this method of the miracle of fire in the Quran 5:27, in the story of Adam and his sons, where a fire appeared and consumed the offering of one son who sacrificed a sheep.
Quran 5:27: Recite to them the truth of the story of the two sons of Adam. Behold! they each presented a sacrifice (to Allah): It was accepted from one, but not from the other.
Tafsir Tabari, under verse 5:27 (link):
It was narrated from as-Suddi, in his narration from Abu Maalik and from Abu Saalih from Ibn ‘Abbaas, and from Murrah from Ibn Mas‘ood, and from some of the companions of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): ... Habeel (Abel) offered a fat lamb as his offering, while Qabeel (Cain) presented a sheaf of corn but secretly took out and consumed a large portion of the corn. Subsequently, fire descended from the heavens and consumed Habeel's offering, while Qabeel's offering remained untouched and unaccepted. In response, Qabeel became enraged and threatened to kill Habeel, vowing that he would not allow him to marry his sister. Grade: Sahih (Albani)
Consequently, when Muhammad asserted his prophethood, the Jews asked him to provide proof through the manifestation of a miracle, specifically the fire consuming his offering.
Muhammad found himself unable to dismiss this demand outright, as he already acknowledged it in the story of Adam in the Quran.
However, Muhammad resorted to a different approach, offering a new excuse. He accepted the validity of the miracle involving the fire accepting the offering, but he refused to showcase this miracle. He justified his inability to show this miracle by accusing the Jews of Medina that their forefathers sinned by killing previous prophets
Quran 3:183: They (the Jews) said: "Allah took our promise not to believe in any messenger unless He showed us a sacrifice consumed by Fire (From heaven)." Say: "There came to you messengers before me, with clear Signs and even with what ye ask for: why then did ye slay them, if ye speak the truth?"
However, this excuse by the writer of the Quran does not hold up under scrutiny as it is unjust to punish individuals for the sins of their ancestors. In this case, the writer of the Quran is essentially claiming to hold the Jews of his time accountable for the actions of their forefathers. This contradicts the concept of divine justice, which does not attribute guilt based on lineage.
Secondly, the writer of the Quran contradicts his own claims within the text. The Quran repeatedly asserts that the practices of Allah remain unchanging. Yet, in this instance, Muhammad is deviating from that principle by rejecting the miracle of fire as a valid proof of prophethood.
Quran 48:23: [This is] the established way of Allah which has occurred before. And never will you find in the practice of Allah any change**.**
This frustrated Muhammad so much, that he used to say even if 10 Jews believed in him, then all Jews would become Muslims.
Sahih Bukhari, 3941:
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Had only ten Jews (amongst their chiefs) believe me, all the Jews would definitely have believed me."
Sahih Muslim, 2793:
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: If ten scholars of the Jews would follow me, no Jew would be left upon the surface of the earth who would not embrace Islam.
Note: The Islamic Translators of Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim added these words in parenthesis on their own "(amongst their chiefs)" or "Scholars of the Jews" It is a Distortion (TEHRIF) case, while these words have nothing to do with the original tradition, which is talking about normal 10 Jews, and not about any of their chiefs/scholars. Islamic preachers are compelled to do this TEHRIF (distortion) while it EXPOSES Islam and Muhammad, and Islamic preachers want to HIDE the Truth from the masses.
This distortion by Islamic preachers is utterly shameful and shows how dishonest they are and how ashamed they are of the truth.
It seems Muhammad repeated this statement multiple times, and his companion 'Auf ibn Malik is also a witness to a similar statement from him.
Narrated by Abu Al-Mugheera through Safwan through Abdul-Rahman ibn Jubayr through his father through 'Awf ibn Malik, who said: One day, the Prophet ﷺ and I went to a Jewish synagogue in Medina on one of their festivals. They hated that we made an appearance. The Prophet ﷺ said: "O' Jewish tribe, show me twelve men from among you who testify that there is no deity but Allah, and that Muhammad is his messenger, and Allah will spare all the Jews under the visible heaven from the wrath He has upon them."
But the Jews of Medina still refused to accept him as a true prophet, and that was the point where Muhammad's enmity and hatred started against the Jews:
Sahih Bukhari, 3167:
Narrated Abu Huraira: While we were in the Mosque, the Prophet (ﷺ) came out and said, "Let us go to the Jews" We went out till we reached Bait-ul-Midras. He said to them,** "If you embrace Islam, you will be safe.** You should know that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle (only),** and I want to expel you from this land.** So, if anyone amongst you owns some property, he is permitted to sell it, otherwise you should know that the Earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle."
Yes, that was the whole argument of Muhammad: "...that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle (only) ..."
Please remember that Muhammad used the same argument to attack innocent Pagan tribes (who had nothing to do with Muhammad previously and had never attacked or harmed Muhammad).
Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 3012: Narrated As-Sab bin Jaththama: The Prophet (ﷺ) passed by me at a place called Al-Abwa or Waddan, and was asked whether it was permissible to attack the pagan warriors at night with the probability of exposing their women and children to danger. The Prophet replied, "They (i.e. women and children) are from them (i.e. pagans)." Prophet said: All the graze-lands belong to Allah and his prophet.
Later Muhammad's anger and hatred against the Jews went so high that he was no more satisfied by expelling them from Medina, but he wanted to expel them from the whole Arab peninsula. It was due to the reason that it was a shame for him that he was claiming himself to be the promised prophet of the Jews, but the Jews were telling people that he was not that promised prophet. Muhammad didn't want the Jews to tell this to others, thus he wanted to expel them from the whole Arabian peninsula.
Sahih Muslim, 1767(a):
It has been narrated by 'Umar b. al-Khattib that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: I will expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslim.
And this hatred against Jews goes till the last hour, where Muhammad asked his followers to kill all Jews:

An incomplete case study from a story writer. Insights included.
E.g. Can’t Buy Me Love (since madami ang disappointed)
  1. Character Research
Hindi talaga sila creative in the first place.
They didn't even bother to interview a legitimate Fil-Chi multi-millionaire heiress. Most of them are well-educated, possess social graces, speak English with proper diction and enunciation, and have excellent social skills and networking abilities.
The duo didn't really undergo a look test. They were just forced into it because of their huge fan base — something that wouldn't be wrong if they truly fit the role, but they don't.
‘yung tipong may complexity sa character na hindi palaging good or evil — just a normal human being who makes terrible mistakes.
That way, it's easier for viewers to relate to her character, someone they can root for.

Donny, somehow, suits the role. It’s just that the execution of his acting wasn’t well-prepared. It lacks realistic nuances in heavy drama scenes.
There are hits and misses. It’s like a singer hitting a few flats and sharps, but it’s still acceptable kahit may mga parts na cringey. More practice pa.
They persisted with the weird wig for about 80% of the show's duration. He looked messy and unkempt.
Impractical.
*In creative writing: Research is Everything.
It serves as the foundation for any well-crafted story (relatable characters, compelling narratives, etc...).
Without it, writers would be blinded, thus, their stories are messy and lack depth and authenticity.
  1. Story
The storytelling and the plot are all over the place. So many plot holes.
Countless.
There's no coherent story structure. It seems like the writers struggled with utilizing the 3-act structure technique for building the story.
I'm a story writer myself, working on a TV series in the US (WFH setup). Supposedly, I let all my drafts marinate for a few weeks or even longer before I start editing.
During that time, I revisit my research, and usually, there's a lot of mess that needs to be cleaned up. And, I could add more appropriate details to polish my work.
E.g. REWIND nina Dingdong at Marian (a rip-off from a known film) & A Very Good Girl nina Kathryn at Dolly.
A good storyteller reads books and watches plenty of movies and series. This way, a writer can think and practice more effectively.
Mas naha-hasa ang writing skill if you put more in the reps. Reading, watching, thinking, and writing exercises keep our minds sharp and enhance our mental agility.
And yes, it takes time. Walang shortcut.
Being a writer can be headache-inducing and laborious. Hindi madali.
But it's not an excuse for poor writing.
Or kung meron man, sobrang kulang to make a huge impact — sa Senior High lang ang nakita ko.
Everything has to be planned out.
Notice how long the succeeding seasons of popular series like Stranger Things and Euphoria take?
  1. Target Audience
One of the best things I learned in story writing: “If you write to everyone, you write to no one.”
'Nuff said.
This is the reason why the story of CBML is all over the place. They didn't know who their REAL target audience was.
Well obviously, it's the Donbelle’s fans.
But the producers also wanted to cater to casual viewers — which they failed miserably at.
Miserably.
I can't even figure out what the main genre and niche of CBML are.
When I write stories, I consider myself a TA because I am a film and series critic myself.
Hence, I watch bad TV series aside from the good ones.
And CBML is my Exhibit A.
  1. Ending
Anticlimactic in general.
The ‘whodunnit’ trope in the story fell short due to poor execution and lack of effective foreshadowing.
Bettina's killing motive was too shallow. There was no proper storyline about her mental illness if there was any.
Unfortunately, it didn’t do justice to the overall narrative. Numerous missed opportunities and plot lapses contributed to the disappointment.
The writers should've consulted a psychiatrist for a more in-depth explanation of why she became the main antagonist.
They didn't put much thought into it. Such a waste of episodes that could have been dedicated to her character.

And that kissing scene was terribly awkward.
Seriously? Ang unrealistic TBH.
Conclusion:
Formulaic? Definitely.
Basic story? Yeah. Super.
Walang new elements. Nothing new. It's the same recycled junk with different actors and themes.
But they could have at least added some fresh perspectives to the used and tiring tropes — using Amor Powers’s shock value style for Annie's arc is so late 2000s.
Super facepalm.
On the other hand, I've noticed that GMA's creative department tends to be more explorative and willing to take risks.
They created thought-provoking series like Rhodora X, Destiny Rose, MHL, and RMD.
Kudos to them. They're on par with their competitors.
‘Yun nga lang, madalas sa sustainability, acting, camera works, and execution sila sablay. Things na kahit papaano, na-master na ng Dreamscape ng Kapamilya Network.
Ang hirap panoorin ng local series (mainstream) natin sa totoo lang. Kahit gustuhin ko man.
PS: I love Ang Babae sa Septic Tank 3.
Binge-watched it in a day. I’ll try to watch other series on IWant. Mukhang madaming magaganda doon.
Naka-marinate pa ang final draft ko so madami akong time. 😊😊😊
PSS: Pahinga muna kayo Star Creatives.
Nakaka-disappoint talaga.

2024.05.08 11:44 PresentWorking4041 Can't Buy Me Love and Underwheling Teleserye Endings

I feel like most teleseryes start great but eventually end up disappointing the audience.
[Opinion on CBML ending] Sinubaybayan ko yung Can't Buy Me Love ni DonBelle kasi the earlier episodes really had potential (in my opinion) but I must say I'm a bit disappointed with the ending. I for real didn't know last episode na yun (bilang hindi updated sa socmed and i do not check the episode list on Netflix haha) and my first reaction was "WAIT TAPOS NA?!?!?". It was weak, underwhelming, and ang daming loose ends, sadly...parang minadali. :((
Ang daming naintroduce na plot points na hindi naman nagamit or nasayang lang like the following:
1) Bingo's tumor: the series would lead you to think na yung cause ay yung pagkabundol niya ng bus because of Ling - that would be a nice additional plot point sana. I personally think hindi ito unnecessary kung naflesh-out lang sana yung plot kasi ever since the episode na nabundol siya, I honestly found it weird na hindi man lang nagpa-ospital yung character ni Bingo. I immediately thought at that moment na baka later on yun yung maging plot, magmamanifest yung sakit niya sa brain or something. I know...so predictable. But predictable is okay as long as maganda ang pag-execute.
2) Ling's training: Hindi natin nakita yung point nung character development niya during training, since wala na rin sa kanila yung GLC. Sana naipakita man lang yung pag-apply ni Ling ng mga natutunan niya and yung pag-evolve pa nung character niya.
3) OPIP and mabenta box business: it would have been so much better if naipakita rin yung pag-unlad ni Bingo with his own efforts and with Ling's support, hindi yung biglang yaman dahil kay Annie. And yun naman kasi talaga yung isa sa good characteristics ni Bingo - yung perseverance niya para umunlad ang sarili at pamilya niya.
4) THE BLACK FREAKING FEATHERS: si manong Ibe yung nag-iwan ng feathers sa crime scene ni Divine and hindi si Bettina kahit siya ang killer??? Why the black feather obsession??? Ano yung singnificance???
5) Divine's character: sana rin mas naflesh-out yung character ni Divine instead of naikwento lang ng ibang characters. Parang nakafloat lang yung character niya the whole season and hindi masyadong nakaconnect sa audience.
6) Exposition after exposition after exposition: Bettina just narrating everything in the end just feels too lazy to me and supports the idea na hindi talaga siya yung original killer sa story and the writers just chose her to be the killer as the series went. Sana instead of narrating, pinakita pa yung ibang scenes in addition sa death ni Divine para naman mas maging believable kahit konti haha.
Personally I think ok lang naman sana yung open or bittersweet ending with the question of "mabubuhay ba si Bingo o hindi?". Ok lang yun for me, kung hindi lang talaga mukhang minadali. I feel like Bingo and Ling were robbed of the happiness they deserved as partners. Sana binigay muna sa kanila yung through, I don't know, scenes or moments together na nagsspan over a period of time instead of the wedding scene or segments like the one in Batanes or Benguet na parang ang bilis lang.

2024.05.07 05:57 Caller_to_ALLAH Caution about calling a person “shaheed”

Asalam alaykum, this is an alert to not call a person as an individual who get killed or die as “shaheed”, rather we say that “we hope good for him” or that “whoever dies in the cause of ALLAH is in jannah” and the likes of what has been narrated. Know that saying someone is a shaheed is a like saying he is in paradise, and this is something we cannot know, nor can we know the intentions of that person. That being said, this doesn’t mean they aren’t a shaheed, but rather we should take heed into indulging in the unknown and passing judgement on people’s destiny. May ALLAH aid and have mercy on all the Muslims being oppressed and killed in Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, Kashmir, and everywhere else
Evidences:
1.) Hadith Umm ‘Ala when she said that Uthman ibn Judh’an is being honored by ALLAH, then the messenger peace be upon him said “what makes you know that he is a shaheed? I hope goodness for him, Wallahi i dont know what will happen to me and I am the Messenger of ALLAH” Sahih Bukhari
2.) A part of a hadith in Bukhari where the Messenger mentions: “….. and ALLAH knows best who does jihad in his way…..” so we can see that to be called a shaheed, is if you die in the cause of ALLAH (as in the hadith of abu musa al ashari when he asked which jihad is in the cause of ALLAH - Sahih Bukhari and Muslim), but hoe would we know who fought for the cause of ALLAH individually?
3.) Then the sahaba who knew best the rulings of islam:
A.) Umar may ALLAH be pleased with him said in a Khutbah that: Some of you say in your battles “so and so is a shaheed” and “so and so is a shaheed” and you dont know if this person stole from the booty of war wanting to gain some dunya, so dont do so, rather say as your messenger peace be upon him said “who ever fights in the cause of ALLAH is in jannah” Narrated by Al-Hakim and mentioned as hassan by Ibn Hajar in his sharh of bukhari
B.) Ibn Mas’ood the scholar from the sahaba said after some person was killed and the people said “so and so is a shaheed”: Verily some men fight for dunya or to be known, and someone dies in his bed but he is a true shaheed, then he recited an ayah.

2024.05.06 08:45 Playful-Ad-4150 FP: Nagaabono ba riders if cancelled by restaurant/system?

Hi, madalas ako magorder sa FP and I think I got scammed today 🥹 So for everyone's awaress na lang, I paid my FP order through pandapay and the remaining balance is COD. Driver insisted with his narrative and nacancel na yung order.
After 30 mins, nakareceive ako ng text from the same rider threatening me na kapag nasuspend daw siya, babalikan niya ako kasi nagreport daw ako (Cinontact ko yung CS). Biglang umokay yung tono at puro paawa. Nagsend na lang ako gcash out of fear (Ako lang kasi nasa bahay tiyaka yung bata kong kapatid) and I didn't know any better na rin. Saw some old posts na rin na never nagaabono yung riders for this? Pero mixed din yung ibang comments na nagaabono din on their end.
Apart from this binigay pa ata nito yung number ko sa kakilala niya and tinawagan ako na nagpapaawa rin. Huhu.

Killer Grips: Anne Maria, Brick, Jasmine, Justin, Millie, Trent
Screaming Gaffers: Chase, MK, Ripper, Scott, Sky
Episode 4: Beach Blanket Bogus
A grandiose tune played as a large red 'TDA' flew in from the foreground as the narration began, coming to a rest in front of a backdrop of a starry sky; a meteor shot across behind the 'D'. "Last time, on Total Drama Action!" The typical recap song began as the scene cut to Chris McLean standing by the numbered studios. "He was a boy," a picture of Trent smiling slid on to the left side of the screen, "she was a girl," a similar gesture was followed by a picture of Sky smiling sliding in on the right before they both disappeared and the host continued, "and last week on Total Drama Action, a shocking team redistribution pitted them against one another."
“Our heroine made a fundamental romantic comedy error. Picking Chase first and leaving her boyfriend Trent feeling kinda ouchie. Meanwhile, two men made an illegal alliance. And Justin's mad thespian skills trumped Izzy's... well, madness.”
“It was all too much for Chef's tender heart, and Izzy, uh, Kaleidoscope, was clearly a bit too nutso. Even for this show.”
"What will happen to Sky and Trent's barely-there relationship? How will MK and Scott's newfound alliance fare? Will my non-fat vanilla soy latte ever get here? All the answers, uh, answer, right now! In another tear-jerking episode of, Total! Drama! Action!"
(Theme Song)
The episode opened on a shot of Chef stirring a pot with a scowl on his face, then serving up a scoop of whatever brown mush he'd made to MK. "No wonder models are so thin," she mumbled to herself.
"Ma's cooking is better compared to this," Scott said over her shoulder. “Her goat butter is to die for.”
"If it made you the slob that you tend to be, I'll pass on that," MK said before moving over to her team's table, to which she saw Ripper sculpting Izzy's face out of his own mush. “What the heck are you doing, Ripper?!” she asked in bewilderment.
“I'm making my breakfast into the head of Izzy, brain girl,” Ripper replied. “What else?”
“But why?” MK asked.
“She may be gone, and she may have been grating for the past few days with her E-Scope schtick, but I want to make sure that I'll remember her even when she's far away from here,” Ripper replied. “You're not gonna see my cry like a baby over her.”
Confessional: MK
“Ripper's crush on Izzy is something that's not going to interest me, but there is a relationship that's about to be on rocky terms,” MK confessed deviously.
Confessional Ends
Brick and Jasmine were shown eating together at their table. “I never got to perform my juggling talent for the first season's talent show, but I did win a medal for it at my school's talent show a few years back,” Jasmine conversed.
“That's amazing, ma'am,” Brick said, impressed. “I've also won medals like you back in cadets. I took the teamwork medal three years running! Also, the bed-making medal, the "flag-folding" medal, and the letters-home-to-mom medal,” he chuckled. “I always win that one.”
“I like how we're both so talented in our endeavors and yet we don't have snakes bitten into our heads about them,” Jasmine said.
“I prefer to go the humble route,” Brick responded. “Honor is more important than pride.”
Trent was sprinkling salt onto his eggs when the top suddenly fell off, dumping all of the salt all over his breakfast. He then heard laughter behind him, and he turned around to find Chase as the source of it.
"Sorry! I set that up for anybody, not just you, to use it!" Chase called out.
"Chase, that's my boyfriend," Sky reprimanded her teammate, causing him to feel a bit of guilt.
"Don't you know it's bad luck to spill salt?" Trent started picking salt off of his plate and tossed them behind him. The salt hit Scott in the face, making the farmer stand up and scream in pain.
"Nothing a little pepper won't fix," Trent began sprinkling pepper onto his eggs when all its contents fell onto his eggs. Trent repeated the process of picking the seasoning off his plate and tossing them back. And like before, they nailed Scott square in the face. Unlike the first time, the pepper caused him to sneeze uncontrollably, and he ran about screaming and sneezing.
“That was so hilarious!” Chase laughed and made his way over to Trent. “Are you still going to finish your eggs?”
"Given that they've been ruined, I'm gonna say no," Trent answered and slid the plate away from him.
Sky soon came over with a new plate of eggs. “Sorry about what Chase did to you, Trent,” she said while placing the plate in front of him. “I got this just for you.”
Trent smiled at the new plate of eggs. “How lucky am I to have a girlfriend like you in my life?” he asked with a side hug towards Sky.
“Just as much as me,” Sky smiled.
“Sorry about messing with your breakfast like that,” Chase apologized. “I just wanted to pull off my first prank on this film lot.”
“All is forgiven, man,” Trent told him.
Chase smiled, but was then startled when a piercing whistle was blown nearby.
A surf pop tune began in the background as Chris entered the craft services tent wearing a pair of sunglasses and holding a whistle. "Hang on to your coconuts, players," he told them, the camera cutting back to show him carrying a red-and-gold surfboard under his right arm. "We're going back to the beach!"
“Now you're cookin’!" Anne Maria cheered.
"Ever seen one of those 1950s surfer movies where the kids get up to neato fun before the big bonfire twist-a-thon, and the bully kicks the sand castle in the nerdy guy's face?" Chris asked. Brick, who was now standing next to the counter, shrugged, Jasmine raised an eyebrow, MK nodded, Scott sneezed, and Trent and Sky were confused.
“Um, we haven't seen any of them at all,” Millie said.
“How old do you think we are?” Justin asked boredly.
"Well, get ready to recreate one, juniors!” Chris carried on. “Two challenges, followed by a tiebreaker, if necessary. So, grab your swimsuits!" He turned and left, the contestants following suit.
Brick was about to leave until he was pulled back by Chef. "If the sand castle thing goes down, make sure you're the kicker, not the kickee. You and I are a team, and we don't want you to be a wimp, right?" The army boy nodded in agreement.
Unbeknownst to them, the scene cut to the left to reveal that Justin had been overseeing them from behind the entrance with an intrigued look on his face.
The footage flashed forward, and a frigid wind blew across a few icy stage lights. The camera panned down to the contestants standing in their swimsuits and shivering in the cold. "Is Antarctica supposed to have a beach?" Anne Maria asked, her teeth chattering together.
"As some of you can see," Chris said, dressed in thick white parka and snow goggles, "we're actually in the shooting studio." The camera pulled out to show an icicle-rimmed pool dominating the area behind the cast; it was flanked by film equipment on most sides and a pair of giant fans on the right. A surfboard had been attached to a stand on the back rim, and was positioned to be in front of a green screen. To the right in the foreground, Chef stood by what looked like a control panel, a green scarf wrapped around his neck.
"And why is the AC cranked?" Ripper asked.
"All the cameras and lights get so hot," Chris explained, "they could melt Chef's heart." The hulking man gave the single most disturbing 'cheerful' grin and wave that had ever been shown. "And the network told my agent sweaty wasn't a good look for me," the host added, briefly fanning himself.
"Your first challenge?" he said, looking up at the surfboard. "Hang ten this deck into the big blue without swallowing tail in the soup."
"Could you repeat that?" Millie asked in confusion. “Those weren't even words.”
“He means whoever stays on the surfboard longest, wins,” Trent said.
"Exactamundo, groovy cats!" Chris told them. "So? Who's goin' first?" MK and Scott looked at each other, Jasmine tried to adjust her hat while she shivered, Brick looked everywhere but at the host, and finally a cricket chirped from on top a light. A gust of frigid wind froze it solid, and its hind legs snapped off. "The team that wins will get a half-hour head start on the next challenge," the host explained, "aaand given tonight's reward, you should be fighting harder than Justin's abs over who gets first shot."
"I know my abs are better," Scott gloated to MK, who rolled her eyes. "I have a stone hard ten pack while Justin's are like butter."
As Scott tried to show them off, the camera panned to Ripper behind the pair looking annoyed. He smirked mischievously and gave the redheaded boy a light shove with his hand and he stumbled forward a couple steps. MK looked at Ripper, who shrugged innocently. "Sorry," he said unapologetically. "I slipped."
"We have a volunteer!" Chris said now that Scott had inadvertently stepped forward.
“I didn't volunteer on purpose,” Scott glared over his shoulder, “but fine.”
The surf rock tune briefly played again as Scott was shown stepping onto the surfboard. "This surfboard better be sturdy!" he said as he made a proper surfing position.
"And, please welcome the return of some season one fan-favorites," Chris announced from behind the pool, "the sharks!"
Immediately, one of the giant freshwater man-eating sharks jumped out and snapped its teeth at Scott. He squeaked and flinched away, and Chris was shown cringing.
Confessional: Scott
"Pigs are my favorite animals, but I should let you know that sharks are NOTHING like pigs," Scott told the confessional camera. "They're bloodthirsty and do not play nice! The only reason I'm not frightened to be around them is because they haven't attempted to maul me to the point of trauma!"
Confessional Ends
The footage cut back to show Scott now clinging from one of the supports for the lights hanging above the pool. The shark leaped up again and snapped its jaws in another attempt to grab him, but fell back down with a splash, unsuccessful. "Me and my abs are out!" he declared.
“Your abs have an opinion? Seriously!?” Sky asked.
"How did you even manage to jump that high?" MK commented with disbelief.
"Hey!" Scott said in offense. "I am not letting myself get swallowed by a shark! Me and my family lost my great aunt Iris that way!"
"I'd believe you if you weren't such a big liar on a daily basis!" Ripper called up to him.
"Hey sharks, check it out!" Scott called out, pointing away from the water tank. "There's a plate of bacon over there!"
Everyone looked to see Brick eating bacon off a plate he carried with him. “I had some breakfast left over,” the cadet admitted.
The sharks emerged from the water begging for the food, and this gave Scott the opportunity to drop down. Unfortunately, he slammed on the plank back first.
"Ooh, way to stick the dismount, bro," Chris chuckled, Chase and MK also chuckling as well while Sky smiled in amusement.
The camera panned over to Trent sighing at the sight of Chase and Sky, causing Millie to take notice. “Is something the matter?” she asked in concern.
“Nothing! It's nothing!” Trent quickly denied.
“Oh, okay then,” Millie said unconvinced.
Unbeknownst to them, Justin had overheard their conversation with a grin.
Confessional: Justin
“That was strange of Trent,” Justin admitted, “but his attitude is something worth investigating.”
Confessional: Millie
“I know Trent's upset about Sky and Chase being together, but I don't think he should be,” Millie told the camera. “Everyone's free to be friends with whoever they want to.”
Confessionals End
The surf tune began again as Brick stepped onto the board. He wobbled a bit as he tried to find his balance until a shark jumped out of the water and bit off his swim shorts; he quickly covered his pixelated groin with his hands and jumped down, an expression of fear and embarrassment on his face.
"The body's a beautiful thing," Chef called out as Brick ran past him. "You don't need a suit!"
Sky was the next to take her turn as the sunset flickered back on to the green screen behind her. She managed to find her balance on the rocking board, but this changed when Chris pushed a button on the control panel and changed the background into a tornado-struck farm. Chef grinned and plugged in the giant fans, which immediately got up to top speed. Soon, a powerful wind was sweeping past Sky from behind, and not long after, the petite gymnast was blown off the surfboard, hitting the backdrop with a splat.
Next was Ripper, who quickly jumped onto the middle of the surfboard from the small platform at the edge of the pool. However, his hard landing caused the board to crack, and it eventually collapsed beneath him and dropped him into the pool.
“What the heck even was that?!” Ripper complained in outrage that turned into shock when he saw the pair of sharks leering at him, but he managed to quickly grab the pieces of the surfboard that had fallen in with him and throw them onto the sharks' mouths, wedging them open.
“Later, fangs!” Ripper taunted before quickly scrambling over the lip of the pool and dropping back to the ground on his back.
Chris stepped in front of the camera and blew a whistle. "Break time!" he announced. "Union rules!"
"Is this really happening?!" Millie piped up in the background.
"I don't mean you, shark bait!" Chris told him.
A classical British tune began as the footage skipped forward. The camera was focused on one of the sharks, now sitting in a chair with a pink towel on its head, sipping a cup of tea. The shot zoomed out to show the other shark sitting nearby, accepting a piece of food from a platter that Chef was holding out. The camera panned up to the fixed surfboard, where Jasmine was already in position.
"No sharks to hinder me?" Jasmine said confidently. "Way too easy!" The surf music began again as the Outback girl started her turn on the swaying board, but it quickly ended as Jasmine noticed something nearby.
A deeper, more ominous tune played as the camera panned up a minigun turret. When it reached the top, a cartridge of rather bewildered-looking seagulls was fitted into the top of the gun; Chris' gloved hand cocked it, and started the barrel spinning. "I love this game!" he exclaimed before opening fire.
Jasmine dodged most of the seagull barrage, but one of the birds knocked her hat into the water. “My hat!” she gasped as she looked down, and two more shots to her stomach and legs caused her to lose her balance and tumble into the water.
"Good luck with with those gulls!" Jasmine told Anne Maria after the scene cut to the latter stepping forward. "They're a handful."
"You don't have to tell me twice!" Anne Maria told her, looking at the pair of dorsal fins sticking out of the water as the sharks swam around, then climbed the ladder on the side of the pool. "Those gulls better not touch my hair!" she shouted once she'd gotten on to the surfboard.
"No promises," Chris chuckled to himself as he loaded another seagull cartridge onto the gun. He opened fire, and the tanned girl managed to dodge everything that was shot at her.
Confessional: Brick
"For all of Anne Maria's vanity," Brick told the make-up trailer camera, "she's definitely got a winning edge!"
Confessional Ends
Chris frowned in panic. He looked at his gun, which was low on ammunition, to the equipment sitting behind him, and the camera cut back to Anne Maria just before a director's chair was thrown at her.
"Are you serious, McLean?!" she shouted angrily before promptly getting shot in the face with another seagull, losing her balance and falling into the pool.
One of the sharks immediately lunged at Anne Maria, but she just scowled and swung her fist at its nose, then swam away while it rubbed the injured area.
Confessional: Anne Maria
"They say that animal cruelty is wrong," Anne Maria said in the confessional, "but when the humans are being harmed by them, human cruelty is not against the law."
Confessional Ends
"Finally, we have Chase!" Chris announced as the daredevil steadied himself on the surfboard, adding "Try not to get your hair wet," as he took aim with the fully-loaded gull gun. Chase rolled his eyes and Chris began to fire, but the contestant dodged the birds easily, even jumping up and somersaulting in the air.
His gun now completely out of ammunition, the host looked behind him for something else once again. The camera briefly cut back to Chase as he dodged a light that was thrown at him, then showed Chris as he frantically looked for something else. The camera panned to the left, showing the Killer Grips watching their opposition, with Anne Maria standing closest to the host. He grinned darkly, and she noticed and scowled. “Don't even try it, Chris!” she snarled and handed him her cans of hairspray.
The camera cut back to Chase as his eyes went wide. "Seriously?!" he exclaimed as the cans of hairspray were hurled at him. He swiftly ducked, and the cans hit the set.
"And with that," Chris announced as a triumphant tune began to play, "Chase secures victory for the Screaming Gaffers."
“Cool!" Chase said, jumping down from the surfboard. He walked back over to his cheering team, and after sharing a combination of a fist bump and a high-five, he and Sky gave each other a friendly hug.
“I won't lie. Sky's team is unstoppable!” Millie commented as she and her team oversaw the Gaffers cheering.
“Try unstable!” Trent added in with jealousy. “A ticking time bomb of betrayal. We have to stop them for sure.”
Confessional: Justin
“Now I see the problem with Trent,” Justin confessed. “He's suffering from jealousy issues, and if I want to establish how big of a threat I can be this season, I'll have to increase those issues to a boiling point and set him up for elimination if we lose.”
Confessional Ends
“Don't sweat it,” Jasmine told her team's leader. “If we're lucky, we can win the second part of the challenge and the tiebreaker after.”
“Lucky…” Trent mumbled to himself before a idea sparked up. “I think I may know how we could win.”
"If you at home like disasters," Chris suddenly leaned into the shot to announce, "you'll love what's coming up next!"
"I'm telling you, my plan is foolproof," Trent told the host.
"We'll see about that," Chris replied teasingly.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Harun ibn Muslim from Mas’adah ibn Ziyad who has said the following: “Once I was with abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), when a man said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul and the souls of my parents in service for your cause, I enter my WC (water-closet) and I have neighbors who have singing slave-girls who play musical instruments and perhaps I sit longer, listening to them.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You must not do so.’ The man said, ‘By Allah, I do not go to them; it is only my listening to them with my ears.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘For the sake of Allah, have you not heard Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, saying, “...the ears, eyes, and hearts will all be held responsible for their deeds.” (17:36)’ He replied, ‘Yes, by Allah, as if I have not heard this verse of the book of Allah from non-Arab or Arab people. However, I will not return to it if Allah so wills and I ask forgiveness from Allah. He (the Imam) said, ‘You must go and take a shower, then ask what you want, because you were involved in a great thing and how terrible your condition could have been had you remained in such condition! Praise Allah and ask Him to forgive you because of what He dislikes and He dislikes only bad and indecent matters; and you must leave evil and indecent things to indecent people; everything has its associates.’”

2024.04.29 23:40 Sam_NoSpam Dark Droids - best narrative reading order

Previous "best narrative reading orders", including a description of the governing philosophy behind these (tl;dr - less chrono / more flow):
Well... for starters this was certainly a lot simpler than the last chunk! Especially since it seems like they kept everyone mostly in their own little worlds for this one. Not to mention there were useful cues at the end of each issue of the main series, so most just naturally slotted into place and felt right almost immediately.
The main things I had trouble placing were the last few issues of Bounty Hunters, since they straddle the ending. I chose not spoiling developments over clean thematic smoothness, with one slight deviance from not caring about strict chronology (BH #40). As always, feel free to suggest any changes that would help improve flow.

2024.04.28 06:09 Sheikhonderun Weight of Faith

Excerpt from Yunus Jaunpuri (rah)'s commentary and notes.
Reflecting on the following hadith:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As that the Messenger of Allah (rah) said: "Indeed Allah will distinguish a man from my Ummah before all creation on the Day of Judgement. Ninety-nine scrolls will be laid out for him, each scroll is as far as the eye can see, then He will say: 'Do you deny any of this? Have those who recorded this wronged you?' He will say: 'No, O Lord!' He will say: Do you have an excuse?' He will say: 'No, O Lord!' So He will say: 'Rather you have a good deed with us, so you shall not be wronged today." Then He will bring out a card (Bitaqah); on it will be: "I testify to La Ilaha Illallah, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger." He will say: 'Bring your scales.' He will say: 'O Lord! What good is this card next to these scrolls?' He will say: 'You shall not be wronged.' He said: 'The scrolls will be put on a pan (of the scale), and the card on (the other) pan: the scrolls will be light, and the card will be heavy, nothing is heavier than the Name of Allah.'" (Tirmidhi 2639)
A question arises: how can a simple card outweigh ninety-nine scrolls when each scroll is so large as far as the eye can see?
The answer to this is on the day of Judgement, the weight of the soul and its actions will far outweigh the body. The following examples allude to this.
(1) Many people with satiated bodies without faith will enter hell.
Salman (rad) said: "‘...I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say: The people who most eat their fill in this world will be the most hungry on the Day of Resurrection.’” (Majah 3351)
(2) On the other hand, we have the skinny short Abdullah bin Masood (rad) whose shins will be heavier than the mountain of Uhud on the day of judgment.
Ibn Mas’ud reported that he was harvesting tooth sticks from an Arak tree and he had tiny shins. The wind blew and made him fall over, so people laughed at him. Prophet (saw), said, “What are you laughing at?” They said, “O Prophet of Allah, he has tiny shins.” The Prophet said, “By the one in whose hand is my soul, they will both be heavier on the Scale than the mountain of Uhud.” (Ahmad 3991)
Thus on the Day of Judgement, the soul and its actions will far outweigh the body. The ninety scrolls contain bad actions of the body. The body and its actions are transient. In comparison on the card is the belief in the Oneness of Allah (Tawhid), His attribute which is eternal, everlasting. What is eternal will last while what is transient will perish.
Therefore, the soul's belief in the eternal will far outweigh the transient actions of the body.

2024.04.26 22:47 AbuW467 From the most evil of people!

It is narrated on the authority of ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ood رضي الله عنه that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Among the most wicked of people are those who will be living at the time when the Hour will come, and those who take the graves as places of worship.”
[It was narrated by Al-Bukhaaree with a shorter wording with an omitted chain of narrators using the verb (Sama‘a, meaning hear) in the active form (no. 7067), and it was also narrated by Ahmad (no. 3844) with a connected chain of narration. It was classified as Saheeh by Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh (no. 6847), Ibn Al-Qayyim in “Al-Jawaab Al-Kaafi” (101), Al-Albaanee in “Tahtheer Al-Saajid” (26), and Al-Dhahabi classified it as Saheeh in “Siyar A‘alaam Al-Nubalaa’” (9). /401), and Al-Waadi’i in “Al-Saheeh Al-Musnad” (832), and Ibn Taymiyyah judged its chain of transmission as authentic in “Sharh Al-‘Umdah, Al-Salaah” (427)]
