Part 3 of my short story. 1 and 2 got decent receptions. If this one does well Ill keep it goin.
I started looking around the room for anything useful. Checked a few lockers pretty quickly. I was looking for something specific. Pictures of family, lab coats, the entire collection helldivers trading cards, and your typical personal belongings. Damn. Youd have figured at least one... HERE it is! I reached into the second to last locker on a wall of ten and found a loaded Peacemaker. I stapped the holster over one shoulder and under another across my chest for ease of access. Can never have to many weapons. I took the extra mags and stored them in my left thigh pouch.
3 just watched as I completely gutted the room for anything useful. They sort of shuffled behind me after a couple minutes. Following behind me like a domesticated pet.
I search the cupboards above one of the desks and found some typical workplace memos. "No fraternization without a signed C0-1 permit," toss, "Make sure to enjoy at least one 30 second break every day," useless. I closed the cupboard and looked under the desk. There was a safe with a pretty decent lock on it. Well, decent for civilians. It was a digital combination lock with a biometric finger scan and eye scan. Whatever was in here had to be good. I pulled the retractable cord out of my wristpad and plugged into the input in the safe. Turned the whole 3 point security system into a series of directional inputs. Up, down, left, left, right, down, done. The safe Clicked and popped open slightly.
Inside was just a keycard labelled "Master". It was a hefty card made of metal about a quarter of an inch thick and 3 inches by 2 inches on its face. I tucked it under my wristpad in a small pouch between it and my wrist. 3 was just standing behind me holding Mr. Ears.
They just wore a gown. No socks, no pants or anything to keep them warm. Alright, add that to the list. Clothes shopping for the lab experiment. Other than what i'd already searched there wasnt anything else in this building that I could see. I put my hands on my hips and sort of paced for a moment.
"Do you want to see my room?" 3 said. I stopped pacing and looked back at 3. Of course! I thought. This kid would have had to sleep somewhere and as far as I could see there wasnt a bed in here. How did 3 end up in here anyway? Did they walk out in the cold from another building? Tough kid. Maybe one of the doctors carried em over and just... left them here. The thought angered me. I started towards the door when a small hand pulled on my cape. The cape itself had red trim with a black and white design on it. A simple red skull sat smack dab in the middle. A cape to remember those lost at the Creek.
I turned around to see 3 point towards a wall at the backside of the building some 30 ft. Away. "Its this way mister." 3 ran towards the wall and gently pushed in a hidden button. The wall sunk inwards and moved down to reveal a stairwell going down. Flickering lights barely illuminating the stairwell. I slowly approached the stairwell as 3 just stood next to the button looking up at me, their face devoid of emotion. They walked through the doorway and started climbing down the stairs with a bit of effort. They held the hand rail and carefully descended.
I kept my flashlight on and pointed down and ahead, letting 3 lead by a couple feet. My right hand dangled next to my senator instinctively. No need to draw it just yet. It was a winding stairway that continued down for 3 floors. At the bottom there was another automatic doorway. It was a double door that opened from the middle but one side was jammed and the other just sort of bounced between being fully open and slightly ajar. The lights continued to flicker. 3 walked through the opening without hesitation, their little feet making pat, pat sounds on the cold metal floor.
Checks out I thought. Distant planet, secret experiments, gotta have a secret labratory underground. I sidestepped through the door way and into a security checkpoint. All the consoles were on emergency backup and the barricade that an armed guard would have stood behind was empty. I checked it for ammo but no luck. 3 kept going deeper down the hall. We passed about 10-15 seperate typical offices where I assume the scientist here would have kept notes and done paperwork. The end of the hall was marked by a T intersection. On the wall in front there was a directory. To the right was "Labratory", "Mess Hall", and "Transit Station". Transit Station? I thought. Better check that out. The left side was labelled "Security", and "Subject Chambers". Makes sense I guess. I bet all these scientists slept in a seperate building, meanwhile they probably kept 3 here under lock and key. We took a left at the end of the hall and ended up at another door. 3 gently pushed the console next to the door and the light swapped from red to green as the door sssssked open.
We passed security on our way through the hall and I could see a weapons cage inside the security office. Hell yeah I thought. I wanted to turn and start stocking up on supplies but 3 gently pulled my hand towards the end of the hall. Alright kid. Maybe you've got some extra clothes in here huh? Well need em. 3 opened the door to another area labelled "Subject Chambers." I entered inside and inhaled somewhat sharply.
There were 4 cryochambers, 2 on each wall, that immediately flanked the doorway as you entered. All of them were vacant and non operational. 3 walked past the cryotubes and up a small two stair incline onto a small play area. It had some simple blocks, a couple bits of paper and threee or four boxes of crayons. 3 seemed to try to ignore the cryotubes but couldnt.
"Whenever we would be bad," she gently gestured to the cryo tubes "the doctors would put us in there". She walked over to one of the 4 beds and sat down on it. It was simple with white lined and a typical medical blanket. "This is my bed" 3 said. "That one was 2's and those ones were "1, and 4". 3 gestured towards the other beds laid out in similar fashion to the cryochambers.
I tried to compose myself for a moment. How could this happen? Theres no way this was sanctioned by the Ministry. No way in hell. These had to be rogues scientists, and wed helped evacuate them. Dammit. I knelt down beside 3, "Did they give you any clothes 3? Any jackets or pants or anything?"
3 shook their head. "We never needed em. The doctors gave us medicine that made us warm." 3's eyes dropped and they tried to sound out a word. "The did some eggs-spear-ear-ants and then to test them they put us outside. 1 and 4 didnt get cold, like me, but 2..." 3 looked over at 2's bed. "2 got cold."
End part 3. Im not good at picking where to stop so I just base it off of word count sorta. Feel free to suggest names for 3!

Hello! I have set up dials and trackballs, so I don't know what's up, but I could definitely use some help.
I am converting a dead Pole Position upright using the original controls
I am running Mame-2016 with a matching romset on my Raspberry Pi 3b+
The reason I am running Mame-2016 is because there is a command to make the gear shift work that was added and does not work with earlier cores. (the command is toggle="no")
I have gotten the shifter to work correctly in mame, but now I cannot for the life of me get this wheel to work.
I have removed the original optical encoder board with a happ red board with the X1/X2/5v/GROUND wired into the Ipac-Mini just as instructed on the Ipac-Mini Wiring Diagram.
I can confirm mouse movement from the command line using "cat /dev/input/mouse1"
In the Retroarch GUI I have the following input settings
Device Type: RetroPad (I changed it to RetroPad with Analog but it does not save)
Analog to Digital Type: None
Device Index: Disabled (no options)
Mouse Index: Ultimarc Mini-PAC
When I try to set DIAL ANALOG INPUT in mame and spin the wheel, no movement is detected.
When I play the game, no movement is detected.
When I used Wini-Pac the board was detected. It said it was in Keyboard Mode, but I do not know how to change that, or if I need to.
Because I am getting input in cat /dev/input/mouse1 I feel like the answer is just under my nose. HELP?

TL;DR: Bought T1 TV Backlight then realized RGB decoperipherals have sweet PC apps if you get the right models. How do I move forward in a smarter way (preferably without wasting the lights I already bought)?
Knowing literally nothing about RGB, I bought a T1 TV backlight (H6199) for my 65" that I use for streaming/PS5/PC/etc. I love it, and now I want to go RGB crazy and decorate my whole room with lighting synced to my TV, Dreamview, scenes, .
I bought an RGB keyboard and some PC internals and started playing with all the open source software options to get things synced up. Now that I've done a deeper dive, I think I made a mistake with my first purchase and I want to make sure my thinking is correct before I invest more money.
It looks like the backlights are not (and aren't planned to be) included in the API. Can I change the control mechanism somehow so I'm not using the camera but using software instead? Should I write off the first lights I bought and be more mindful of comparability when I start over? Should I put some basic strip lights on the back in addition to the H6199 so I can do everything I want to? Should I double down on the path I started down and just do Dreamview with the T1 as the controller and give up on the cool open source software options?
Now that I see what can be done with Govee Desktop, SignalRGB, Home Assistant, etc. I would really like to go down that route further but also integrate my T1 lights in some way so that wasn't a complete boneheaded waste.

I first bought a used 2023 from best buy a few months ago. It was plagued with a keyboard that intermittently stopped working among many other issues so I returned it and got a new 2024. The hardware overall is beautiful but the experience has been close to awful. Very buggy. Most of these issues could be blamed on windows, however I don't experience these things on my legion go. So I'm assuming its something to do with how the OS interacts with the hardware. It seems like its just not cohesive.
Small issues, like the background always turning to a black blank screen, are annoying but issues like the screen freezing every 40 min is a bit more reason to return it. In all honesty I would return it if I weren't 2 weeks outside the bestbuy return window. Windows search just doesn't work. Again you could say this is a windows problem but I haven't experienced it on my legion go. And I mean Its BADDDD.
The brightness seems inconsistent. Depending on the mode the max brightness is blazing bright but often its not, and it doesn't matter what mode its set on.
Sleep was good the first week but that is also inconsistent. Sometimes after closing the lid a few hours later I will pick it up and it will be hot, but when I open it nothing is running that should cause it to be hot.
Believe it or not I didn't make this post to shit on the device or dissuade anyone from buying it. Like I said before the hardware is fantastic. I guess I would like some tips as to how to make the experience better. I keep hoping for driver updates or bios updates but nothing comes, just hotkey updates or minor stuff.
On the good side I was able to play banishers on my 4k 70 inch tv, with high settings and have a good frame rate while staying surprisingly cool. Its great at gaming, but almost everything else seems to involve way too much hand holding which I dont have time for. I wanted something I could tinker with and adjust settings for but this isnt what I had in mind. I will include some windows search results for entertainment.
I got the 16gb model just for reference. If you're still considering this device I strongly advise to get the 32gb model.

I will try to provide as much detail as I can remember
This was an online monster card game I played back around 2010 ish which has definitely shut down by now. I would really like to find this out as Its one of the first video games I played and it was with my dad. I haven't seen any mention of this game ever since I last played it which would have been over a decade ago and my memory from then is very fuzzy
So this game was a monster card game, the cards had cartoon monsters such as zombies, slimes, mummies and skeletons for example. The monsters would be mishmashes of all kinds of monsters which made the cards look unique from eachother for example one would have a zombie head, skeleton arm and slime leg stuff like that. The background of the cards could also be different.The art style for the cards was a classic 2000s cartoon style with the sharp edges and boxy shapes. It is VERY reminssant of the MEOW animated music video by cyriak which is the closest thing I can compare it too. I would spend a lot of time simply looking through peoples cards because I loved the artsytle so much, there may have been a section on the website where you could look at newly made cards and such.
The point of the game from what I can remember was to battle with your cards. The battle system wasnt anything crazy and was simply a spinning wheel and if you landed on red your opponent would get to keep your card and vice versa if you won. There was definitely some sort of power system but I am unsure how it worked as I was too little to understand. Either way some cards where extremely powerful and usually where owned by those who had memberships. Me and my dad where not very good at this game and often had little to no cards :(
Another thing I remember is the way you would log into the website which is engraved in my mind, you didn't have a word password it was a symbol password. So for example the password could be a scorpion shape, skull, fire and brain. A rectangular board with all the symbols would display then you'd click on your symbol password.
There was a membership system which I never got but from what I remember it made cards more unique looking and gave them fancier boarders and more unique monsters parts. There was also a monster card making system for members which I unfortunately never got to try.
I really hope someone out there can find this as it would make me so incredibly happy to look back at this. It was one of the first games I ever played and I loved playing it with my dad together :) he'd love to rediscover it too

Hey everyone. I am having a weird problem and I have no idea how to start troubleshooting this.
During storms blueman crashes and restarts. This does not happen during clear weather or on a regular basis. If playing a game my controller disconnects and I immediately hear thunder afterwards. While typing this message my keyboard and mouse will stop working and I can see the Bluetooth in the tray reset, then I hear thunder.
I have been dealing with this problem for a few months now - just so I can make sure I am not crazy, this really ONLY happens during thunderstorms.
My Computer is in the garage, Bluetooth is connected to a powered hub, plugged into a USB 2.0 Active cable (80 FT through attic) Bluetooth adapter is approximately 6 feet away from me. Is there a way to shield this? Where should I even begin on this?

Hello everyone, I hope all is well. Today we are going to be looking at “Rent A Cop” which is the eighth track from Ben’s 2006 release Supersunnyspeedgraphic, The LP.
This is an odd album because it’s basically a glorified compilation album. In 2003 and 2004, Ben started releasing these EP’s which consisted of original songs and covers. After fans started complaining about these songs not being in one place, Ben collected some of the songs, as well as a few others, and put them on this album which he named by putting all three names of the EPs together.
“Rent A Cop” originally was released on the 2004 EP titled Super D. It’s an interesting song because it’s a fun tune with a lot of humor, but I don’t see it mentioned much on here so I’m not sure how it’s perceived by fans. The song starts off with a drum fill and launches into the main part of the song. Ben’s playing this piano riff low on the piano in an upbeat feel that gives off a lot of energy. We are then hit with some weird robotic synths and some acoustic guitar which is always a welcomed thing in Ben’s music.
But to me, it’s the drums that really make this song. The pattern of the drum beat is addictive and really drives the song because when Ben starts singing, the piano and guitar drop out and it’s only Ben’s voice, bass and those rhythmic drums. Lyrically, this song is basically a precursor to the Kevin James movie Paul Blart as this song is about a mall cop. Ben sings through the perspective of a mall cop who exclaims that that it’s the best job in the world because he gets to “‘troll food courts for girls.” He assures us that the girls love him for his uniform and his “little mustache.”
Then this pervy cop explains how he can check out all the women in the mall because he’s wearing sunglasses. We also get the stereotypical lyric about cops and donuts as Ben sings “I whisper through my doughnut ‘Hey baby, baby light that ass on fire.’” It’s a corny line but it fits the personality of this “cop” and I love how musically you can hear the guitar and synths in between each verse.
We then get to the chorus where this cop seems to hate his job. He’s counting down the hours until he can clock out and complains about how he’s all alone in this big mall. If this song took place today then this mall cop would really feel all alone. I love how Ben’s vocals are a little bit louder and fuller during the chorus and right after the chorus we get these horns that really shine in the song.
The second verse sees this mall cop explaining to a kid that he’s not equipped with a gun. And how he doesn’t “get paid enough to run.” Which must lead into some type of argument with this kid because our mall copy says “so you can call me what you want but I'll be hanging at the check out, checking out your girlfriend. Figure out how she's going to fit all of that butt into that underwear.” Is this one of Ben’s worst lyrics? It’s definitely possible. But Ben is singing this song through a character and the way he’s singing (especially with the “yeahs” after each verse) is really selling the whole thing.
We get some different lyrics for the second chorus. This time Ben, or should I say this “rent a cop”, is flirting with this girl at the mall and tells her that he can help her find where she parked her daddy’s car.
Then we get to the bridge of this song which begins with this awesome drop out where it’s only the drums. I wouldn’t call it a drum solo but there’s definitely additional percussion going on and it sounds massive. But when the piano and horns enter back into the mix it sounds like we get some sort of modulation or key change. The horns are playing these longer notes and Ben’s piano playing is more bluesy. He eventually returns to that opening piano riff but played a couple octaves up. Then the horns really go crazy and start playing the riff as well! The bridge is extremely musical and gets my head nodding every time.
We return to the chorus where the mall cop is waiting until it’s “Miller time” which is basically beer o’clock. Then we get this outro which starts with a percussive sounding acoustic guitar which is eventually swapped out for that funky sounding synth keyboard lead. We get more boisterous sounding drums and those jazzy horns. Each instrument gets a turn to solo and shine, all the while Ben sings “I whisper through my doughnut, hey baby light that ass on fire.” The song eventually ends with a drum outro until you can hear Ben in the studio say “alright that’s good.”
Is this one of Ben’s masterpieces? No, I’m not sure anyone would think that. But I do feel like this song may get overlooked. Yeah, lyrically the song is over the top goofy and this mall cop character is a sleaze bag. But Ben’s vocal delivery really sells the character and it’s not meant to be a “deep” song. Besides, the music of this song is one of Ben’s more lively pieces of music with a full band. Not in a fast or “punk” type of way, but more in a dynamic “big band” sort of way. I wish he toured with horns. What’s cool is that during Covid lockdown when Ben was doing livestreams in his apartment, he played a bit of this song on guitar. Which makes me curious if he wrote this song originally on guitar. You can check it out in this video below:

Spying on a college student wasn’t exactly riveting, mostly because it was so easy! Connecting to Tav’s computer had been a breeze, and taking over the microphone on her phone wasn’t exactly hard either. Blanco had a good look at the girl’s files, checking her old writings with little to no interest, and then reading through the notes she was taking on a ‘Translation effort’ with legitimate curiosity.

The creature was sitting in the air, slowly sliding from one side of his room to the other, lit only by the lights of the many screens on its walls… all while the grin on his face was only growing wider and wider with each new discovery. So a language, hmm? Wasn’t that the thing that G and Eighty Two had been rambling about for years now? Ohhh, he couldn’t wait to tell them… or, at least, tell G about it.

He had been paid quite the hefty sum to not tell 82 a thing of what they discovered, at least for now… the fight between those two had always struck Blanco as arbitrary and stupid, but alas! It wasn’t his business, really! In fact, that fight had brought much more business to him than anything!

The phone suddenly rings. Speak of the devil! A quick check on the caller ID showed Eighty Two’s private line.

With a broken glass grin covering his otherwise smooth face, Blanco took the phone.

“Bianccio Pizzería! Thickest pizza around! How can I help you?~” Oh how he relished pissing people off.

“Shut up.” A cold, feminine voice came from the other side. Eighty Two always sounded so annoyed… “I need a service. Payment will be in advance, as per our usual accord.”

“Ohhh straight to the point huh? I like it!”

“There’s a new user in Dejima 08. Perform the usual Safety Scan. They claim to have been invited by user ‘Canned Tea’, but we know he has lied about it before.”

“Ok, let me check!” Just to cover, Blanco tapped gibberish on his keyboard while softly going ‘beep boop’ as he worked. “... Alright! Got it!”

“That was fast.”

“Tav. Real name Santino Belnades. A Bastard Mage living in Saüle, Wohl.”

“Is he dangerous?”

“Actually she goes by she now!”

“Is she dangerous?” Mustafá grumbled, more annoyed than usual.

“Nah. Just a college student like many others. She’ll give up or die in a month tops.”

“...” Mustafá remained silent for a moment, ruminating. “So Canned Tea is just covering another random bastard…”

“Ahem. My pay?”

“Why is this kid like this? Can’t he realize that he’s getting them into far more trouble than it’s worth?”

“I thought you said nothing ever happens in that forum of yours. Isn’t that your main complaint?”

“That doesn’t mean nothing ‘can’ happen at any moment. If the Brotherhood finds out about this forum, they could seize all of us for questioning.” The alchemist let out a deep sigh.

“Yeah, real tragic. Pay me.”

“I wonder how this one got turned. Probably some mage’s irresponsible usage of spells…? No, Wohl has such a low magical population, and such a high conscription by the Brotherhood…”

Blanco let out the deepest of sighs, rubbing his smooth face with a hand while spinning slowly on his non-existent chair. This was exactly why he prefered working with G, that and the lack of emotions that witch had…

And people called him inhuman! Hah!

“Keep an eye on her. I will pay you right now.”

There was a loud ‘KA-CHING!’ sound coming from one of the computers in the room. Blanco sighed in relief.

“Thank you for your patronage! I will keep you updated.”

“Good.”

With that, the alchemist hung up. Blanco growled again. No one said ‘Good Bye’ these days now, did they!? Rude pricks. And bad news kept coming up! This ‘Canny’ guy was now telling her that he’ll teach her the glyph for digital security?

“Guess baby time is over.”

He’d have to work a little harder to stay hidden if Tav decided to install that on all of her devices. At least it would keep him entertained! Blanco decided to focus on preparing for when things would get more intense.

After all, he had some time. The kid was going to the library, right? There was only one book she wanted from there, and Blanco had read it several times over already.

There is no such thing as an entire section dedicated to recipe books in Saüle University’s Library, but I manage to find that stuff in the ‘miscellany’ section. That’s where all the hobby and self-help material ends up, and even if it took me a moment to come to the conclusion, that’s where I went too.

It takes me even longer to look through every single tome I could in that section, but finally, after all my hard work… I think I have found it.

Canny was right, this is a cheap notebook. Soft covers, spiral-bound, both sides stamped with wizard hats, frogs, potion phials and many other pieces of typically ‘witchy’ imagery. Looking through the pages, it is just a bunch of cake and kuchen recipes, nothing to write home about. It is old, the pages are all yellowish and fragile, and there are stains everywhere.

Then, when I am sure no one is watching… I whispered the words.

“Jantar mantar…?”

It is instantaneous, as soon as I say the password the pages begin to change, words disappearas the ink that wrote them starts gathering in a single, dark blotch, and then begins rearranging again…

Something compels me to close the book, feeling a little embarrassed. For some reason I equated it to catching someone changing up clothes, how outrageous!

Finally, after waiting for a moment, I open it again.

Okay, that was certainly a title.

Now that I have it in my hands, I quickly close it again and add it to a pile of books I have picked up. Stuff on ancient symbology and old civilizations. With my loot in my arms, I quickly go over to the main desk and get it all sorted.

The second floor librarian smiles at me for a moment before scanning all the barcodes, giving me a week to return all the books, and then offering me a bag to carry them. I shake my head, setting it all in my backpack.

… Wow, it’s been a while since I've taken this old backpack out to Uni, huh?

“Feeling nostalgic?”

“For the times you were an actually useful member of society?”

Maybe a little bit, to be honest. I still remember when I used to come here with Patricio looking for academic books and I escaped the duties to look for something interesting to read…

“Back when you actually read as a hobby.”

Shut up, I’ve been reading more these days, I am returning to it.

Walking out of the Library, I once again avoid the gaze of any acquaintances and run straight for the streets to take another taxi back home. There aren’t that many people around today anyways, probably because of Winter Vacation.

Maybe I should send Patricio a message…

“Oh yeah? And what will you tell him? That you’re ditching formal studies for a fantasy? That magic is real and shit?”

I… thought of saying hi. That’s what friends do, right?

“When was the last time you spoke to a friend? Pepe? Vito? What about Venus?”

I flinch for a moment.

I… don’t think I will, no. The mere idea of getting in contact with him makes me a little sick from the nerves, especially considering I don’t really have an answer for what he told me before. I remain as undecided on the whole ‘career’ deal as I was that day.

With a hand I call for a passing taxi, and I have the luck of being acknowledged. You never know with the Taxists these days, it is very well known that they dislike the college students in this city.

Maybe he is hurting for money.

I sit down, tell the man where I need to go, and stop thinking about things for a moment as the car moves… only to feel my phone vibrating.

It vibrates more than once.

That means someone’s calling me.

I start sweating almost immediately, as I carefully pull the thing out. Two possibilities, it js either spam, or it is my parents.

It is my parents.

“Calm down.”

“How do you think they would feel if they knew how fucking distressed their presence make you? Do you think they would ask ‘whatever did we do wrong?’ or something like that?”

“Don’t listen. Just… remember that they’ve never meant anything bad, ok? They will accept you, regardless of your results in college.”

I gulp… and with a deep breath, I put on the mask. All trembling stops, just like that night at the planetarium… although it really pains me to compare mom and dad to the cloaks. With another deep breath, I pick up.

“Mom?”

“Ohhhhh hi there Santi! How are you today? I hope I didn’t catch you too busy!” Mom was as vital and energetic as ever. Despite her old age, she really always acts like a far younger woman. That’s admirable, at least to me.

“She will die eventually, too.”

Saints above, shut up.

“I’m fine mom! I was just returning from the library. We started vacation this week, so I was picking some stuff to read on my own.” Not technically a lie. “How are things over there in Sumpf?”

“Ohhh you know, there’s never much to tell around here. Your dad and Vito always at each other’s throats… I really hope they'll get along a bit better with time.”

“They wont. If anything, it will get worse.”

Vito will grow wiser and dad will grow older, I am sure things will get better.

“Hah, I guess some things never change… what about you? Feeling fine?”

“Oh you know me, I am fine! For now.” She laughed loudly. “And you, Santi? How do you feel?”

“Uh…”

Damn it. I hesitated. I need to give that a reason NOW.

“Oh my dear…” She sighed, before going back to her positive self. “Don’t torture yourself over it now. Wait for the actual grade to be announced, then torture yourself!”

“Moom!”

“I am just kidding sweetie.” She chuckled a bit. “It is fine, we all fail sometimes… really, it’s not the end of the world, I swear.”

“She’s trying to soften the blow from the fact that you’re a fucking failure.”

I shudder.

Sometimes I forget that mom is quite religious, it makes me smile a little bit.

“We’re here… kid. If something is wrong, you gotta tell your mom. Trust me… there are many things I wish I told mine before she passed.”

I flinch, pushing down that response and just sighing.

After paying the man, I walk out of the taxi and let it go, standing in front of my apartment complex for a moment.

I really don’t want to cry today.

But I already feel some tears going down my face.

Why am I like this?

Hey there everyone, just joined. I never realized there were more people who experienced these kinds of dreams until I read a 2 year old subreddit, I've been having these since I was a little kid. I only remember having them after I had a death experience at around 3 or 4 years old. Saw a glimpse of the afterlife, and ever since then, I've seen dreams or vision or whatever the hell you want to call it. I've had these dreams every day for almost 20 years now, most of the time it's inconsequential dreams that are just Deja vue, others are more substantial like a death of someone I know, I also get these feelings that point towards something bad happening. For example, I had a great uncle who was really bad into opioids and such. One day I had had a horrible horrible headache like red hot daggers being pushed into everywhere in my skull only to find out the next day my great uncle died of an od which led to a brain aneurysm. When I have the dreams they're usually of my dad and brothers dying in front of me kind of like I'm there to see it but I can't touch them or tell them watch out or do anything to prevent it,almost like I'm there on an Astral plane or something. I've had a lot of trouble with these dreams, especially as an adult, because the more I have these dreams, the closer they get get to becoming reality. It's typically always the same dreams, but this morning, it was a different one. In this one, I found out I have skin cancer and that it's too far along to do anything about it. So I sit and bide my time until it's my time, and when it's finally time for me to leave, it's instant. So, slow loss of heart besting just instantly transported somewhere else. I had found the afterlife again, but it was different this time, I'm still foggy on the details, but it was very much a grey boring type of vibe. There were some other people I knew there. I remember waiting for what felt like forever, eventually figure in an almost grey/white robe came to get us and we all started walking through this door to whatever this afterlife was and I was stopped by the grey being as he said, "you belong here with us, but not yet." And just like that, it was over. This one was really weird because, unlike the other visions where I was just a spectator, I was in full control here. For the duration of the dream, I could hear feeling taste everything perfectly. I wasn't in any pain from my back but yet I couldn't feel the metal in my back from my spinal fusion anymore, it felt exactly like it did the first time I died and yet this time there was no medical intervention to save me like the first time but I know the feeling of how it feels when you're dead and there's a certain hollowness I guess you could say and that's exactly what I felt this morning. I don't really know what to make of this. Did I die and come back again? I don't know what to think or how to feel right now.
Sorry for the long ramble.

So at the climax of Revenge of the Sith, when Anakin has gone all 9/11 and is flailing about in his lifelong misery while taking the galaxy down with him, he and Obi-Wan start arguing about political differences, religious beliefs, and whether it’s morally acceptable to murder hundreds if not thousands of people along the way to get there. Obi-Wan takes the valid stance of it not being cool, and makes it clear he’s going to fuck Anakin’s shit up for all his dark deeds. Anakin is eager for this because as said above, he’s riding high on FUBAR as a state of being and seeks the catharsis/validation of beating someone he can project all his problems onto. Thus, we get the baddest lightsaber duel there is, and you know the rest.
Now a lot of the time, people drag their knuckles about the line “Only a Sith deals in absolutes” and how it’s some kind of indicator of inherent Jedi hypocrisy or dramatic irony or George Lucas being a hack or what-fucking-have-you. I don’t really care because I think it's stupid, as Jocasta Nu illustrates for us here, and it’s not the point I want to make. Instead, I’d like to draw your attention to the line Obi-Wan drops before: “Anakin, my allegiance is to the Republic, to democracy!”
Nice delivery by Ewan aside, the meaning of this line is pretty clear: that Obi-Wan, in the face of Anakin flying completely and absolutely batshit off the handle into Divine-Right-of-Kings-For-Those-I-Love, is declaring himself an ally to the Republic and democracy specifically. That he is a very pro-democracy individual and considers it a part of the Republic. Which, cool, because Anakin is totally bugfuck nuts at this point and anything he believes in is probably bugfuck nuts as well so it’s smart to avoid it.
The thing is though, that Obi-Wan is wrong. Actually, he's not just wrong, he's speaking nonsense that is genuinely complete nonsense to hear from a Jedi in the Prequel Era Republic. Because let's recap a few details:
The Jedi Order of the Prequels inducts their initiates as infants or toddlers, with an aged nine Anakin being considered way too old. Now it's their prerogative to take students as they wish (though the thousand years of uniformity unsurprisingly severely backfires), but generally speaking, children under nine are learning things like what's acceptable to put in your mouth and how to read, write, and use the bathroom. The ability to choose "make me a Jedi for life" is genuinely nonexistent for them, so right off the bat, one of the basic democratic cornerstones is also nonexistent for them. It's also not like the Jedi are just Space Catholics/Buddhists: they are explicitly raised and taught to serve the (increasingly corrupt) Republic and its (gradually growing in obscenity until they have to violate their identities as peacekeepers) needs. The actual ability to choose for Jedi is already in the negative double digits.
And for whichever one of you that's breaking their keyboard typing about how Jedi can leave if they want, I'm already aware, thanks for nothing. The thing is that A.) the ability to be able to refuse to participate in something you did not actually sign up for is what I would consider the absolute bare minimum, B.) it doesn't change the part where they don't make the choice to join to begin with, and C.) given how Jedi are taken into the Order usually before they even begin forming concrete memories, we can probably assume that's the reason so few do. When you're raised in that environment for your entire life, the choice to leave is synonymous with abandoning everything you've ever known, which is pretty terrifying.
Moving on: in the Jedi Order, the positions of authority are broken up between the Grand Master (who leads the entire Jedi Order), the Master of the Jedi Order (who is the leaderepresentative officer of the Council), and the Jedi Council. Let's talk about how the buck of leadership is passed around these people, and how there's frighteningly little oversight for the vast majority of the Jedi. Pay attention to the bold words.
The Council is made up of twelve Jedi Masters, including the Grand Master and Master of the Order (this was Yoda and Mace respectively in the PT) who historically are the same person holding both titles. In ROTS, Anakin serves as the senate-appointed representative, an extreme breach of tradition and what sends the Council into dealing with Palpatine's dictatorship (long after the Chad Mace Windu had sobered up to his increasing power and the problems of the war in the EU). While there's no 13th chair made for him, it's never clarified who Anakin was replacing or why there was an open spot at the moment. Though we can probably assume it was due to a wartime event, like the previous Council member being violently executed with a planet full of civilians on the HoloNet by the Separatists as part of their terror campaigns a week ago, it ultimately doesn't matter because this isn't about him.
The twelve seats are split between five lifetime members, four long-term members (and the end to that term is entirely decided on what's the "approved end date", not an actual hard number), and three limited-term members (that limit is not stated). If a lifetime appointment member dies, then it's possible for a long-term member to succeed them or for the Council to choose another Jedi Master at their own discretion, and the long-and-short-term members can be elevated to another position in the Council and have their term extended. The Council, in addition to serving as the liasion between the Jedi and the Senate, are also responsible for deciding when Padawans have progressed to the point of being ready for the Trials to become a Jedi Knight.
(Before I get some wannabe trying to blast me in the comments for using supplementary material to make an argument, take a look at the lineup of the Council in the movies. In the ten year period between TPM and AOTC, there have been only two switches in membership (which in extended material usually involves both being killed), and the three year period after AOTC leading up to ROTS being a war makes it questionable whether term limits became a thing, or Council members just stepped down or got killed off. Not really ideal).
Now notice how, nowhere in the above, is there a "members of the Jedi Order vote for who should be on the Council" option. Even if you want to argue that there should be a qualification factor, like say, holding the rank of Master, that still leaves a large candidate pool open where the actual rank-and-file of the Jedi could decide who they wanted making decisions. We're talking about a group that's supposed to be at least 10,000 members strong at this point, I somehow believe there are enough people willing and capable of leadership given the opportunity. Let alone the idea of immutable, set term limits.
Instead, it's basically just Yoda (also: very telling that the dude who probably only missed a four digit lifespan due to an unholy amount of trauma and misery at the tail end of it is a key decision maker for everything) and a couple of other people (who very well might have similarly lengthy lifetimes on account of being aliens) holding onto power for insanely extended periods of time and selecting who else gets to hold on to power for insanely extended periods of time at the whims of this inner circle. This is obviously a little less than preferable for how leadership should be handled, and that's not even taking into account how the Council seems to be the only real governing body of the Jedi Order.
But let's sidestep how completely anti-democratic the Jedi Order is internally, and focus on its external agency. The Jedi, despite being members of the Republic and a key cornerstone of it as a government institution, are never shown able to participate in the Senate in any meaningful way, shape, or form, such as actually voting for senators to be representatives of any star system. Let me remind you, this is the same senate where megacorporations get to have their own seats, so we aren't exactly talking about a sacred and honorable institution here.
Even if you want to assume the Jedi wouldn't want to influence the elections of systems they technically aren't part of (because of the above-mentioned total removal from their homes and cultures to become Jedi), there's an enormous leap between that and the basic ability to vote for who you'll be taking orders from. Why can't the Jedi have a voice in the government when Space Exxon gets to have their own senator? Even if it's just something as basic as "participate in the vote for who will become Chancellor of the Republic", that would be A.) an enormous leap towards the Jedi Order getting to participate in a democracy, and B.) exercising the absolute bare minimum of power in the system they are part of and help uphold. Maybe if there had been Senatorial Representative Jedi Master Shii-Par Kewwll in the PT, they could have turned the vote against Palpatine in TPM! Or advised Jar Jar against giving Palpatine emergency powers in AOTC! But nah, we can't have the defenders of the Republic decide anything about how it operates, that's too much.
Actually though, scratch that, the Jedi wouldn't actually be participating in a democracy even if there was a Senatorial Representative Jedi Master Shii-Par Kewell. Because according to the Prequels worldbuilding, senators don't even have to actually be selected by the systems they represent. Let's look at Padme's case: She is supposed to represent the Chommel sector of the Republic, a system that holds about thirty-six different planets. You would imagine then, Padme had to be elected by all of them, or some other selective process, to act as their representative, no?
Nope. The only system we are ever informed of regarding the election of senators is that 1/36th of their constituency-in this case-their home planet's ruler-has them serve as the representative. Even if Padme is from Naboo, that doesn't make her part of the Queen's administration if she serves as the senator of the entire Chommel sector. The fact we only get one other named political representative for the Chommel sector in Jar Jar, who is representing the second species of Naboo, doesn't suggest much involvement from the other planets they are supposed to be serving.
Hell, Padme herself wasn’t even democratically elected if we go off her own account of Naboo’s post-TPM political history. After she served her second term as Queen, the population wanted to abolish term limits to keep her in power, which she refused to accept and the next Queen, Jamilla, was elected. Queen Jamilla then has Padme become their senator through the tried-and-true democratic process of…requesting her to serve. Nowhere is the mention of other candidates, an election, anything that isn’t just the monarch asking the previous monarch very nicely if she’ll take over the job for the entire sector.
It also bears noting that the only reason there is a current monarch that’s not Padme is because Padme refused to follow the people’s wishes, which were to break term limits on the monarchy for her to stay as Queen…which can be summarized as “one person making everyone else agree”. Now, that’s not to criticize Padme for preserving what shreds of legitimacy Naboo has as a government, but breaking term limits so someone can spend fifteen years total controlling policy is nuts. From fourteen to twenty-nine, Padme has massive control over Naboo’s politics, which is an insane amount of time even if people had wanted her to serve another term as Queen and presumably were all in on her being Senator as a result. Even if the people had wanted it, there not being a formal election means that this system is just begging to be abused. Wonder how Palpatine got his start, huh…
So to recap: if you’re a Jedi in the Prequels, you have been picked up from when you were very small to be raised in a system you will have no conceivable influence on at any point in your life. As part of that system, you are also taught to serve another system you will never have any conceivable influence over, and it’s very likely that the vast majority of the populace that make up that system don’t have any hope of conceivably influencing it either. This is the amount of agency you will have over your entire life, unless you decide “hey, I’m going to leave now, can I keep the lightsaber so I can fight off the wolves I’m being thrown to?”, which the Jedi at least have the good will to offer as an option in contrast to the Republic. Turns out that when Anakin’s starting to talk about authoritarianism in AOTC, he’s actually just telling Padme about how the Jedi and Republic operate as institutions, and how the daily life of the average member of both is just getting teabagged by everything ever. There was never any democracy to save in the Republic, the characters are all living in a shared delusion that cracks on an accelerated timeline when Palpatine starts his Sithma grindset, and the only solution was to send Anakin in with a flamethrower and let him cry himself out burning everything down, so the ashes could be used as soil and his tears as water to grow something better with.
I should probably be clear that I don’t get the sense much of this was intentional. Lucas often flip-flops in his BTS commentary about the Jedi, and that’s without getting into how it actually plays out in the stories he writes. Despite the Republic and Clone Wars being a deliberate criticism of America, a lot of the politics are muddied and not really fleshed out for the audience. The lack of interest in Padme as a character is clear for everyone to see, so it’s no surprise a lot of her story has more than a few headscratchers. I think it’s clear there’s a lot of stuff in the PT that wasn’t completely thought out or put together well, and this is another instance of such a thing occurring.
Ultimately to me, it doesn’t matter too much what that intent was. If your takeaway from the Prequels is that the Jedi and Republic were hopelessly fucked from the beginning and both systems needed to be entirely flipped on their heads to even begin to be democratic, all that matters is that you can back it up from within the films themselves, as I have done with the above. The point is, the Jedi and Republic were not soulfully democratic in any sense, their defenders and allies were not supporters of democracy as a result, and Obi-Wan took yet another L. It’s just how he rolls, gotta love that for him.
TL;DR: A lot of the ways the Jedi operate as an entity, and their dynamics with themselves, in service to the Republic, and outside parties as part of the Republic, makes far more sense when you read about how George Lucas considers them to be peacekeepers in the same way mafia dons are. Based Nute Gunray, dodging an offer he couldn’t refuse in TPM?

Hello, yesterday i was listening to music and i came across a song that i thought would be great for a techno edit. The song is Feeling good by Micheal buble. In my mind as this was playing i was imagining techno arriving in hell through a bright portal door all gear up with a smile ready to beat the hell out of everyone (pun not intended) and then it would cut to him holding a horned skull with sword in hand as well. Let me know whatw what you think

Hey, just wanted to share my first trip of the season to Six Flags Great Adventure yesterday. I don’t get out there a lot but it is my most visited park and so I figured I would detail what happened.
We first arrived to the park 5 minutes before the gates officially opened. That was the best decision we could have made as those first two hours in the park made a large difference. The park was mostly empty and so we first went over to Nitro.
Nitro (2x): To start we went to nitro, which is my most ridden roller coaster ever, and I honestly love this ride. It’s a highly underrated B&M hyper, especially in the back. We rode this twice in the back and it was a bit slower than usual because it wasn’t a full train. Still some great airtime.
Batman the Ride: After walking around to Wonder Woman only for it to be closed, we went on Batman instead. It was a walk on to the back row but we had to wait a bit longer due to them only running one train. However, it’s a great invert and is very intense in the back row. A very solid coaster and is still quite smooth considering how old it is.
Skull Mountain: This is an okay indoor roller coaster and nothing really to talk about. They were playing music and had bright lights throughout the ride, creating a disco-like atmosphere. Unfortunately, it took away from the ride experience because it was brighter in there than usual.
Superman: The wait for this ride was long but not as long as it usually can be. They were only running one train here too, which made the wait even worse. In my opinion, aside from the pretzel loop, this ride is pretty pointless. It meanders around and doesn’t really do a lot for me. The restraint system can also be uncomfortable at times but makes sense due to the nature of it.
Medusa: We took the long walk to the back of the park to ride this B&M. The wait was not too long but another case of only operating one train. This ride is pretty good with some really solid and intense inversions. However it definitely has the B&M rattle and is not as smooth as the other B&Ms in the park. Still is worth checking out.
El Toro (2x): For me personally, this is one of the greatest coasters on the planet. We first decided to go in the front row but due to one train ops the wait was quite long. Front row was great with some solid airtime but some of the roughness was definitely there. I do think that some of it has disappeared from last year and the ride seems to be much smoother overall. But riding this coaster in the front is a big mistake. We returned to the ride later in the day to ride it towards the back. I decided to try row 17 since I heard it was the best seat on toro. And I am glad to say I was not disappointed at all. EL TORO IN ROW 17 IS ELITE. That was the smoothest and best ride I have ever had on el toro and honestly any woodie. The first drop and following two camelbacks are some of the best airtime moments you can find. Rolling Thunder hill is also insane. Definitely one of the best coasters ever and it has cemented its spot as my #2
Kingda Ka: They were thankfully running two trains here but I unfortunately did not have the best ride experience. It had just started to rain before we got on and that was unfortunate for us. The second the launch began the rain hit my face like a bunch of bullets and it was impossible for me to open my eyes. That being said it s very hard to hate on this ride and I think it’s honestly pretty underrated. The launch is very intense and the feeling of going over that top hat is unmatched.
We wrapped up our day around 4:30 and it honestly was pretty successful. One train operations were very unfortunate and made waits much longer than they needed to be. For example, jersey Devil didn’t open until 2 and was only running one train, making that line impossible to wait in. Still, cowds were nonexistent for the first few hours but definitely began to fill in during the afternoon. If you’re visiting great adventure anytime soon I would recommend getting there as early as you can to maximize your ability to get on everything. I can’t wait for Flash to open and I hope that the park can maybe have better operations throughout the summer.

Wanting to try out the Life Series myself, but not being interested in any of the community servers, I came up with my own ruleset for how to play your own Single Player Adventure inspired by the Life Series. As there aren't any other players, the objective obviously isn't to be the last survivor, instead the goal of this challenge is to survive as many sessions as possible with a ruleset you set for yourself at the start. I haven't tried this out yet, but I might soon. However feel free to try this out yourself.
General rules, that define the Challenge:

• Play alone on a Minecraft Survival World and choose a difficult. Hard Mode is the suggested choice here
• You have 3 Lifes. If you die 3 times the challenge is over and you are only allowed to view your world in spectator mode
• Every play session has a fixed length. For the Life series they use 3 hours plus a break. You can choose the amount of time yourself, but you have to make sure every time you play you are (roughly) playing for the same amount of time.
• Set aside a fixed time every week or every other week where you play a session. The Life Series does this on Fridays, choose which ever weekday is best for you.
• Alternatively or in addition to a fixed day you can also play sessions irregularly, but you have to make sure to still make them the same amount of time. Playing irregularly might take away from your immersion and enjoyment, but I understand that for some people it might be the only way to play at all, if they aren’t able to find a regular date.
• Give yourself a task every session. If you fail your task you loose a life. This will keep you engaged and give you a stream of constant goals to work on in your limited playtime each session.
• You task should be chosen at random from a list you or a friend specifically prepared for this challenge. At the end of this post is a list of tasks I thought up for myself. As I haven’t really played Minecraft in a long time, many of these tasks may sound relatively easy. I encourage you to make your own list. Each task should be doable, but still provide a challenge. Tasks might include things you always wanted to do in Minecraft, but never got around to.

Optional Rules, that you can add if you want:

• Set the World border to 700 Blocks (which is what it was in 3rd Life) or another limit of your choice. This can be done with the Command "/worldborder set 700". Note that this only works if you open your Single player world to Lan and enable commands
• Don’t use Helmets (like they do in the series)
• Use three different Skins for each Life
• Give yourself 30 hearts with no regeneration like in Secret life (see my comment below for the commands). Instead of loosing a life, you loose 10 hearts if you fail your challenge, unless you have 10 or less hearts then you still loose a life.
• Make a backup up your World after every Session. This way you can save your progress and take a look back at how your world developed session after session
• If you loose a life during a session, you don’t have to do your task anymore, preventing yourself from potentially loosing another life from failing your task
• In a Session with a hard task your play time is increased to give you a a better chance of succeeding e.g. by 50% or by 30 mins.
• You must end the session after you finish your task

Difficulties

• Easy: Only do easy Tasks
• Medium: Do easy tasks by default, but do a hard task every third session (or another interval you choose for yourself)
• Hard: Do hard tasks by default, but do an easy task every third session (or another interval you choose for yourself)
• Very Hard: Only do hard Tasks

4. Convince a Friend to join you for atleast 30 mins of today’s challenge. You cannot ask your friends in advance, you can only start asking them during the session
5. Choose a random easy task. You must complete that tasks, but you cannot use your base until you finish the task.
6. Choose a random easy task. You must complete that tasks, but you cannot wear any armor or use a shield until you finish the task.
7. Find and cure a Zombie villager
8. Acquire a full set of enchanted Diamond Gear, but don’t use it. Instead set it aside. You cannot use it until you go down to your last life. (This task is only for if you aren’t on your last life)
9. Go down to half a heart three different times with three different methods
10. Trigger and clear a Pillager Raid (This task is only for if there is a village in your border)
11. Get a Monopoly. You must collect all of one of the following resources on your world: Sand, Cacti, Sugar Cane, Dead Bushes or another resource of your choice (This task is only for if you have custom World Border)

i would love help on understanding TBI severity rankings, even casually, for level-setting here and beyond.
im writing this post as i have difficult looking at my screen, and the right side of my skull is lit up with neuralgia. my symptoms wax and wane, and when i am at the point of not being able to spell words or form sentences grammatically, doctors finally start to accept that i am struggling - but that feels like telling a diabetic who is ambulant that their severely low blood sugar isnt a problem because theyre not yet in a coma. i know what Fucked feels like, and i feel it all the time right now, and it doesnt make it less awful because its an acceptable facade from the outside.
i have found that my more lucid moments (of which i am having one right now!) encourage doctors to dismiss the severity of my symptoms and impact to my quality of life. like, sure, lots of healthy-brained people cant do math in their head at all and that can be fine -- but i have multiple software patents, and the lack of being able to do basic math in public or understand code syntax or even just remember my friends and coworkers names is eroding my professional capital and my sense of identity. its isolating and causes me SO much panic and anxiety, which cannot be good for my cognition.
in my first meeting with a neurologist after concussion #1, he pronounced his diagnosis that i was "extremely intelligent and extremely concussed." he seemed to think that would make my recovery difficult because my brain wouldnt 'stop trying.' um, well, ok? things only got worse: i sustained a second concussion a few weeks after the first, and also hit my head very hard on the corner of a table when bending down around the same time, and then a big big concussion several months later in a car accident (back seat of an uber, no seatbelt like a dumbass).
i was in a ton of pain starting with the first one, i lost my then-job after the second one, and i was fucked all around by the time the third one hit... but i was able to get another job after two years (albeit one which im now falling down on), and i didnt have to re-learn to speak or feed myself or some of these other major things that some folks do, which i think is part of the umbrella of brain injuries.
i dont know what that means for qualifying my TBI for other people, including subsequent doctors, and i would love help in understanding so i can be a better advocate for myself - including in this community, and when talking to others who understand this sad, hard world of TBI recovery.
if anyone has any wisdom on how to talk about this, i would love to hear it. or if youre in a similar boat and can comisserate, thats valuable, too. <3

you see I was playing this game mode recently added we all love in Dead by Daylight as this new killer called the Hunter.
They are cool new killer where you dont hook the survivors but 1 shot capture them instead and they are teleported away and can be saved by others but you only need to this twice and instead of three times to kill the survivors this is OP if you ask me.. I could also make survivors appear on this special mini map to reveal their locations so they couldn't hide either! I guess you could say this new killer is kinda like a Pyramid Head, Skull Merchant hybrid!
Anyway I was against these rebels i mean survivors who wanted to repair these devices to win, I couldn't allow that so I picked the closest 3 right next to each other. I was able to see all 3 at once without moving and just never left area.. I Thought they fixed 3 gen stalemates???
This new map didn't seem to have any pallets or vaults to loop with either so I just waited out the end game timer to finish the survivors off and easily won! The devs should really try balancing this new Dawn Winery map its very killer sided! Do you think the new killer and map are exclusive to Windtrace maybe thats why its so unbalanced?
Lastly the survivors could randomly just turn into random props like barrels and lanterns as I chased them?? I thought DBD prop hunt was a mobile only thing.. did my PC somehow connect to the mobile version of this game mode it looks very different??

Just got an M4 IPP and went to town installing Retro, Delta and Bimmy. But I've run into a serious issue where it seems like the Joycon controller's buttons are completely F'd up in their mappings.
The plus button on a Joycon registers as a kbd.esc key press --- what??!??
Anybody got any idea how to fix this? I'm trying to make a simple profile in PPSSPP for example and I literally cannot use the minus and plus buttons for select and start, which doesnt make sense. Then other buttons like the home button dont register inputs at all.
Any ideas some buttons arent registering and why others are claiming the keyboard was pressed? I also noticed that despite pairing fine with an iPad, that the iPadOS default profile for the controller under Settings>General>Game Controllers doesnt even acknowledge the existence of the +/- buttons, the home button or its blue joycon counterpart button (cicrcle?)

I’ve been a console player all my life, but after some recent shenanigans with triple A gaming studios, I think it’s finally time to move to a PC. I have several questions that I wanted to ask before I start saving the money and looking for what I need to buy.

1. Should I buy or build? I’ve heard that it would be better to buy a prebuilt PC for a first time owner especially if you aren’t a mastermind with technology. However, I’ve also heard that building a PC gives room for customization and upgrades. I want a pretty powerful PC that can run most big games smoothly with some crazy mods which brings me to my next question:
   
2. What would be a good budget? Depending on whether I should build or buy, I was thinking of having a budget of $4,000 to $5,000 for everything including monitors, keyboard, headset, etc. Like I said, I want a pretty powerful PC, but it doesn’t have to be the freaking batcomputer costing over $10,000. I just want a PC strong enough to run 95% of games with no issue.
   
3. What are some tips for getting used to the new interface? I’ve been playing consoles all my life and gaming with a keyboard and mouse is nigh completely foreign to me. I have a laptop I use to play Phasmophobia, and using the keyboard and mouse even for that is insanely awkward for me. I can’t imagine how I would be able to function when it comes to a fast paced, FPS game. PC players swear that it’s so much better than a controller, so if it’s really as better as they say, what are some tips for adjusting to a keyboard and mouse? Additionally, I’ve seen some PC games support certain wireless controllers that one can use in place of a keyboard. Does the PC itself offer that support or is it specific to only certain games?
   
4. What would the best monitor setup and resolution be? I’ve seen people with two or three monitors and they never stop raving about how good that is. I was thinking of getting one large, main monitor and have a smaller one off to the side. Also, what should the resolution be? People have always been talking about how computer monitors offer the BEST resolution for games, so what kind of monitor resolution should I aim for? 4K ultra high definition or is there something higher?
   
5. One of the biggest draws for me wanting a PC is the ability to play modded games. However, I’m not the best when it comes to downloading files and am scared to DEATH of downloading a virus or completely breaking my computer. I have seen so many mods for games that I love, but I want to make sure I know exactly what I’m doing and don’t want to download something bad. Are there any tutorials or tips for safely downloading mods for games?
   
6. What are some of the better PC brands in the event I should buy a PC rather than build one? I want a reliable, high quality PC that will last me for a while as long as I keep it in good shape. I’m a complete noob when it comes to knowing which brands are safe and good versus which are smoke and mirrors.
   

I’m sorry if these questions seem stupid to the average PC user, but I have been wanting to ascend to the PC master race for a while now. But given how horrible the triple A gaming industry is now, the decline of modern gaming in general, and the absolute BS that these companies are pulling, the time to ascend is soon. I want to be able to finally play with my friends who have either moved onto a PC or never had a console in the first place.
