2024.06.02 16:32 Kouli1990 Match making in Champs?

Ok so first off some of you may not like it and that’s fine, if you want to hurl abuse or what ever you’ll just be ignored by me. But for anyone who knows how the match making actually works in the champions finals now, I would love to know.
So might be a bit of a read but here we go. Back on Fifa 23 Champions finals got a bit too much, in terms of toxicity, time and “stress”. All you would get is abuse messages saying your shit or if you won accusing you of cheating or what ever. It would never be 20 games as so many people would always quit at a draw and you’d end up playing 25/30 games. Like I’m 34 with a full time job and other commitments just want to play the 20 and be done 😅.
So I found what I consider a work smarter not harder approach. We have 2 consoles in the home (you can see where this is going). I made a second account for the other console and world qualify on my main account and on my second. Now I know what you’re thinking, no I wasn’t trying to cheat hardcore and get 20 wins 😂 the matchmaking then wouldn’t allow it (and still won’t). I tested the matchmaking and did a bit of research and found your opponents would be within a 4 game win or loss bracket to you. So example you start on 0 and win makes you +1 and a loss makes you -1 so if you were +1 you could play someone who was -1 up to +3. Hope that makes sense. Also I’m on Xbox so I can view my recent players and make sure I was matched up against my 2nd account. I would go win for loss with the second account until I got to 9-9 and then win the last 2 to make it 11-9.
Now this worked for last few months of Fifa 23 with no issues. About 1-2 hours and I was done. Then in FC 24 this also worked to start with. Worked up until around November or December I think then bang after one of the updates it stopped. I could match up with the second account for game 1 and then never find it again. So obviously the way the matchmaking worked had changed. Now for the love of god I can’t find any answer on how the matchmaking works now and playing champs normally has turned into a toxic mess again. But the part that has confused me came last week in champs, I had got my desired amount of wins and had 3 games left so went to home then away. I matched against the same person twice in a row! How can that be when if I try to do it with my second account I will not find it?

2024.06.02 16:31 Cheese-l0rd Can’t find a new series

I’m not that good at finding new books to read so I was wondering if anyone here could recommend me some my standard taste in bold Carrie’s but I mainly like sci-fi and fantasy. Here are some examples of book series I like (the king killer chronicle, Harry Potter, ready player 1 and summoner) thanks in advance

2024.06.02 16:31 expcakess why are my fps so low??

basically, i have this main save where i get most of the achievements and stuff, but only and specifically when i'm trying to beat a pantheon or when i'm just at godhome the fps get so low, i've already changed the graphics and deleted some saves which i wasn't using, but it hasn't helped at all. also, my pc is not that great, but in the other parts of the game everything was normal, if someone has any idea of what could help me, i'd be really greatfull :)

1 Lévy Hierarchy

The Lévy hierarchy is a hierarchy of formulae. For each natural number n, Σ_n, Π_n and Δ_n form classes of formulae. The lowest rank of the Lévy hierarchy is Σ_0 = Π_0 = Δ_0, i.e. recursive. A formula φ is said to be recursive iff φ is equivalent to a formula that can be built from the atomic sentence "x ∈ y" using logical connectives and bounded quantifiers. A quantifier refers to either ∃, the existential quantifier, or ∀, the universal quantifier. A quantifier is "bounded" if its domain is a set: i.e. it's of the form ∃x ∈ y[φ] (≡ ∃x[x ∈ y ∧ φ], "there exists an x in y so that φ is true") or ∀x ∈ y[φ] (≡ ∀x[x ∈ y → y], "for all x in y, φ is true"). An unbounded quantifier quantifies over the whole universe, e.g. ∃x[φ] means "for all x, φ is true". An example of a recursive formula is "a is transitive", which can be written as "∀x ∈ a∀y ∈ x[y ∈ a]". The rest of the ranks of the Lévy hierarchy are defined as follows:
A Π_n formula is thus a formula with n alternations of quantifiers starting with a universal quantifier, same for Σ_n but starting with an existential quantifier. So an example of a Π_2 formula is: "∀x∃y[x ∈ y]".
Note that all Π_n and Σ_n-formulae φ are both Π_n+1 and Σ_n+1.
Lévy hierarchy - Wikipedia
For a transitive set M and a formula φ, M ⊧ φ is true iff φ is true within M: when bounding all unbounded quantifiers in φ to M, the resulting formula is true. For example, ω ⊧ ∀x∃y[x ∈ y] as ∀x ∈ ω∃y ∈ ω[x ∈ y]. I'll refer to these transitive sets as "models". Note that, because all quantifiers in M ⊧ φ are bounded, the formula "M ⊧ φ" is always recursive regardless of the complexity of φ.
Model theory - Wikipedia
An important notion in the Lévy hierarchy is absoluteness: a formula φ is said to be absolute iff the truth of φ does not change between models. For models M and N so that the parameters in φ are members of both M and N, M ⊧ φ iff N ⊧ φ. A formula φ is said to be upwards absolute iff the truth of φ "climbs upwards". For models M and N so that M ⊂ N and the parameters in φ are members of both M and N, if M ⊧ φ then N ⊧ φ: if φ is true in a small model M, then it must be true in every larger model N ⊃ M. A formula φ is said to be downwards absolute iff the truth of φ "climbs downwards". For models M and N so that M ⊃ N and the parameters in φ are members of both M and N, if M ⊧ φ then N ⊧ φ: is φ is true in a large model M, then it must be true in every smaller model N ⊂ M (as long as that smaller model still has the parameters of φ).
[Lemma 1.1] (1) All recursive formulae are absolute. (2) All Σ_1 formulae are upwards absolute. (3) All Π_1 formulae are downwards absolute.
A proof of this lemma is left as an exercise for the reader.

2 Constructible Hierarchy

Gödel's constructible hierarchy is a cumulative hierarchy like the von Neumann hierarchy. The constructible hierarchy is defined as follows:
Note that L_α+1 only has all definable subsets of L_α, and not all subsets of L_α. Since finite sets are always definable, the constructible hierarchy corresponds with the von Neumann hierarchy in the interval [0, ω]. From this point, they start to diverge, and L_α is always a subset of V_α. For example, L_ω+1 does not contain a set of Gödel numbers of all and only formulae that are true in L_ω, but V_ω+1 does. To get an idea of how the constructible hierarchy works, you can try to prove the following lemma:
[Lemma 2.1] For infinite α, the cardinality of L_α is equal to the cardinality α (i.e. there is a bijection between L_α and α).
As opposed to the von Neumann hierarchy, which always has the cardinality of V_ω+α equal to ℶ_α.

3 Recursive Analogues

[Definition 3.1] C_Ω(a,b) is the closure of b ∪ {0} under addition, x ↦ Ωω^x and ψ with arguments restricted to < a. ψ_Ω(a) is the least b for which C(a,b) ∩ Ω = b.
Usually, Ω here is chosen to be the least uncountable, ω₁. This is because ω₁ has a curtained property: it is regular, i.e. for all f: ω₁ → ω₁, there is some a < ω₁ so that for all x < a, f(x) < a. This means that "for all a, ψ_ω₁(a) is strictly smaller than ω₁" is easy to prove.
However, Ω can also be chosen to be a much smaller ordinal, i.e. the Church Kleene ordinal, CK. This ordinal is recursively regular, i.e. for all recursive f: L_CK → L_CK, there is some a < CK so that for all x ∈ L_ a, f(x) ∈ L_a. "for all a, ψ_ω₁(a) is strictly smaller than ω₁" is still true, but a bit more difficult to prove.
The Church Kleene ordinal is a recursive analogue to the least uncountable: they behave roughly the same, but CK is much smaller than ω₁.
Recursive analogues are useful as they can be proven to exist in ZFC, while their non-recursive analogues cannot. For example, a recursively inaccessible (recursively regular limit of recursively regulars) can be proven to exist in ZFC, while an inaccessible cardinal (regular strong limit cardinal) cannot.
In this post, I'll be focusing on recursive analogues.

4 Reflecting Ordinals

[Definition 4.1] Let a be an ordinal, let Φ be a set of formulae and let A be a class of ordinals. a is said to be Φ-reflecting on A iff for all φ ∈ Φ, if L_a ⊧ φ, then there is some b < a so that b ∈ A and L_b ⊧ φ (i.e. φ "reflects" to some member of A) (it should be understood that the parameters of φ must be in L_b). Φ may be omitted if it's the set of all formulae. A may be omitted if it's the class of all ordinals.
For example, for Π_2-reflecting a, if L_a ⊧ ∀x∃y[x ∈ y] then there must be some b < a so that L_b ⊧ ∀x∃y[x ∈ y].
If a is Π_0-reflecting, then a must be a limit ordinal: let x < a be some ordinal. Then, the Π_0-sentence "¬x ∈ x" must reflect to some b < a. So a b for which x < b < a is found, meaning that a is a limit ordinal.
Using downwards absoluteness, the following lemma can be proven:
[Lemma 4.2] For ordinal a and class of ordinals A, all of the following are equivalent:
A proof of this lemma is left as an exercise for the reader.
A "witness" of a formula ∃x[φx] is an x for which φx is true. Using the notion of a witness, the following lemma can be proven:
[Lemma 4.3] For ordinal a and class of ordinals A, a is Σ_n+1-reflecting on A iff a is Π_n-reflecting on A
One might see that a formula ∀x∃y[φ] is true if there is a function f mapping x to y so that φ always holds for these x and y. Using this, the following can be proven:
[Lemma 4.4] An ordinal a is Π_2 reflecting iff a is recursively regular, i.e. for all recursive f: L_a → L_a, there is some b < a so that for all x ∈ L_b, f(x) ∈ L_b.
A Π_n-class is a class of ordinals A for which there exists a Π_n-formula φ so that φ defines A: for all a, a ∈ A iff L_a ⊧ φ. A Π^1_0-class is a class of ordinals A that is Π_n for some n.
For positive natural n, and Π^1_0-class A, the sentence "the universe is Π_n-reflecting on A" is Π_n+1. The class of ordinals that are Π_n-reflecting on A is thus a Π_n+1-class. It's left as an exercise to the reader to figure out why it is Π_n+1, and why this wouldn't always work when n = 0 or when A isn't a Π^1_0-class.
To give an example, the class of limits of recursively regulars (Π_1 on Π_2, see lemma 4.2 and 4.4) is a Π_2-class: the class of Π_2-reflecting ordinals is Π_3, thus Π^1_0, thus the class of Π_1-reflecting ordinals on Π_2-reflecting ordinals is Π_2.
Using this (the general case, not the example above), the following lemma can be proven:
[Lemma 4.5] Let a be an ordinal, let n be a positive natural, let A be a Π^1_0-class and let B be a Π_n+1-class. Suppose a is Π_n+1-reflecting on A and a is a member of B. Let C be the class of ordinals that are Π_n-reflecting on the intersection of A and B. a ∈ C and C is a Π_n+1-class.
This lemma is a bit more difficult to prove than the previous ones, but should still be doable.
For example, when a is Π_2-reflecting and Π_1-reflecting on the class of Π_2-reflecting ordinals (Π_2 and Π_1 on Π_2), it can be concluded that a is Π_1-reflecting on the class of ordinals that are Π_1-reflecting on the class of Π_2-reflecting ordinals (Π_1 on Π_1 on Π_2). So a is Π_2 and Π_1 on Π_1 on Π_2, so it is Π_1 on Π_1 on Π_1 on Π_2, etc. This is an analogue to how inaccessible cardinals are limits of regular cardinals, limits of limits of regular cardinals, limits of limits of limits of regular cardinals, etc.
Let n be a positive natural and let f: Ord → P(Ord) be a recursive function mapping ordinals to Π_n-classes. To be precise, f is characterized by a Π_n formula φ so that b ∈ f(a) iff L_b contains all parameters in φ, a < b and L_b ⊧ φ(a). The class of ordinals {b ∀a < b[b ∈ f(a)]}, which can be viewed as a "diagonal intersection" of f, is Π_n as well: it is characterized by the Π_n formula ∀a[φ(a)]. If the range of f is restricted to some ordinal x, then we can simply take the intersection ∪{f(a) a < x} (restricted to ordinals b > x) which'd be a Π_n-class.
For example, f(a) for a < ω can be defined as the class of ordinals that are a-ply Π_1-reflecting (a-ply means that reflection is iterated a times), each of these classes are Π_2, so the resulting intersection (ω-ply Π_1-reflecting ordinals, i.e. ordinals of the form ω^ω) is a Π_2-class as well.
To give another example, f(a) can be defined as the class of ordinals that are Π_1-ref on a-ply (Π_2-ref and Π_1-ref on ...), i.e. limits of recursively a-inaccessibles. Each of these classes are Π_2, so the diagonal intersection {b ∀a < b[b ∈ f(a)]}, which is the class of recursively pseudo hyper-inaccessibles, is Π_2 as well.
To get an idea of the size of Π_2-reflecting ordinals, one can use the idea of diagonal intersections to prove the following:
[Lemma 4.6] If a is Π_2-reflecting then a is an epsilon number (i.e. a-ply Π_1-reflecting).
In fact, a then is a ζ-number, strongly critical (a Γ-number), and much much more.
In the following chapters, we'll build stronger and stronger OCFs, eventually reaching the PTO of KP + Π^1_0-reflection.

5 Recursively Inaccessible OCF

Let I denote the least recursively inaccessible (Π_2-ref limit of Π_2-refs). Let ε(I) denote the least epsilon after I. Let R denote the set of recursively regulars at most I. a and b always denote ordinals < ε(I), κ always denotes a member of R.
[Definition 5.1] H maps pairs of ordinals < ε(I) to sets of ordinals < ε(I). ψ maps pairs of ordinals ∈ R × ε(I) to ordinals < I. H_a(b) and ψ_κ(a) are defined by induction on a. H_a(b) is the closure of b ∪ {0} under addition, x ↦ x⁺ (where x⁺ is the least recursively regular above x), x ↦ Iω^x and ψ with the second argument restricted to < a. ψ_κ(a) is defined iff κ ∈ H_κ(a). ψ_κ(a) is the least b for which κ ∈ H_b(a) and H_b(a) ∪ κ = b.
For example, ψ_I(0) = ω_ω^CK is the least limit of admissible ordinals (admissible = recursively regular or ω).
[Lemma 5.2] For ordinals κ, λ ∈ R and a, b < ε(I) so that κ, a ∈ H_a(κ) and λ, b ∈ H_b(λ), ψ_κ(a) < ψ_λ(b) iff (1) for κ ≠ I and λ ≠ I: κ < λ or [κ = λ and a < b], (2) for κ ≠ I and λ = I: κ ≤ ψ_λ(b), (3) for κ = I and λ ≠ I: ψ_κ(a) < λ, (4) for κ = I and λ = I: a < b.
[Lemma 5.3] For ordinals x ∈ R ∪ {0} and a < ε(I) for which x⁺ ∈ H_a(x⁺), x < ψ_x(a) < x⁺. For a < ε(I), ψ_I(a) < I.
These lemmas can be proven using the lemmas in chapter 4.

6 Recursively Mahlo OCF

Let M denote the least recursively Mahlo (Π_2-ref on Π_2-ref). Let ε(M) denote the least epsilon after M. Let R denote the set of recursively regulars below. a and b always denote ordinals < ε(M), κ always denotes a member of R.
We now have two "degrees": Π_2-reflection, and Π_2-reflection on Π_2-reflection. Each of these degrees requires its own set of OCFs. For the simple Π_2-reflecting ordinals, I'll define a collapsing function ψ_κ similar to the one in chapter 5. For Π_2-ref on Π_2-ref, I'll define a collapsing function χ_M collapsing ordinals > M to Π_2-reflecting ordinals < M. Generally, if κ is Π_2-reflecting on a Π^1_0 class X, then a collapsing function ψ^X_κ can be defined collapsing ordinals > κ to ordinals ∈ X ∩ κ (in X and below κ).
[Definition 6.1] H maps pairs of ordinals < ε(M) to sets of ordinals < ε(M). ψ maps pairs of ordinals ∈ R × ε(M) to ordinals < M. χ_M maps ordinals < ε(M) to ordinals ∈ R. H_a(b), ψ_κ(a) and χ_M(a) are defined by induction on a. H_a(b) is the closure of b ∪ {0} under addition, x ↦ Mω^x, ψ with the second argument restricted to < a and χ with arguments restricted to < a. ψ_κ(a) is defined iff κ ∈ H_a(κ). ψ_κ(a) is the least b for which κ ∈ H_a(b) and H_a(b) ∩ κ = b. χ_M(a) is the least κ for which H_a(κ) ∩ M = κ.
For example, χ_M(M^2) is the least recursively 2-inaccessible: Π_2-ref and limits of rec inacs.
[Lemma 6.2] For ordinals a, κ so that κ ∈ H_a(κ), ψ_κ(a) < κ. χ_M(a) < M.

7 Recursively Weakly Compact OCF

Let K be the least Π_3 reflecting ordinal (recursively weakly compact). Let ε(K) denote the least epsilon after K. For Π^1_0-class X, let Π_2[X] denote the set of ordinals that are Π_2-reflecting on X. a, b, d, κ always denote ordinals < ε(K).
Now, we have a myriad of degrees: Π_2-reflecting, Π_2-ref on Π_2-refs, hyper-Π_2-refs (using diagonal intersections), (1 @ ω)-Π_2-ref (I'm not going to explain what that means). We thus need more OCFs that can handle these degrees. I thus introduce a new argument, d, called the degree: ψ^d_κ(a), where κ is Π_2-reflecting on ordinals with degree d, collapses to ordinals with degree d. Here, degree d roughly refers to d-ply Π_2-reflecting ordinals (for small d, for large d, it also refers to hyper-Π_2-ref, etc, through the use of collapsing). To know what degree what ordinal is, we'll define a thinning hierarchy M^d. A thinning hierarchy is a hierarchy of sets of ordinals that, well, thins: for a > b, M^a ⊆ M^b. M^0 would be the set of all ordinals < ε(K), M^1 is the set of recursively regulars < ε(K), etc.
[Definition 7.1] H maps pairs of ordinals < ε(K) to sets of ordinals < ε(K). M maps ordinals < ε(K) to sets of ordinals < ε(K). ψ maps triplets of ordinals < ε(K) to ordinals < ε(K). H_a(b), M^a and ψ^d_κ(a) are defined by induction on a. H_a(b) is the closure of b ∪ {0}, x ↦ Kω^x and ψ with the third argument restricted to < a. M^d is the set of b < ε(M) so that, for all d₀ ∈ H_d(b) ∩ d, b ∈ Π_2[M^d₀]. ψ^d_κ(a) is defined iff d ≤ a, κ ∈ H_a(κ) and κ ∈ Π_2[M^d]. ψ^d_κ(a) is the least b so that κ ∈ H_a(b), b ∈ M^d and H_a(b) ∩ κ = b.
For example, ψ^{K^ω}_K(K^ω) is the least (1 @ ω)-Π_2-reflecting ordinal.
[Lemma 7.2] For ordinals d, a, κ so that d ≤ a and κ ∈ H_a(κ), ψ^d_κ(a) < κ.

8 Reflecting OCF

To extend the OCF in chapter 7 to full reflection, more complicated degrees are needed. Traditionally, these degrees were complicated structures involving tuples of ordinals and other degrees. However, one can see that an exponential structure arises from these degrees, and just use base Ξ Cantor normal form as degrees.
Let Ξ denote the least reflecting ordinal. For natural n ≥ 2 and Π^1_0-class X, let Π_n[X] denote the class of ordinals that are Π_n-reflecting on X. Let ε(Ξ) denote the least epsilon number after Ξ. a, b, κ always denote ordinals ≤ Ξ, d always denotes an ordinal < ε(Ξ), n always denotes a natural number ≥ 2. I'll write d =nf d₀ + Ξ^d₁ × d₂ if d = d₀ + Ξ^d₁ × d₂, d₀ is a multiple of Ξ^{d₁+1} (d₀ = 0 is allowed) and d₂ < Ξ.
[Definition 8.1] H maps pairs of ordinals < Ξ to sets of ordinals < ε(Ξ). M maps pairs consisting of an ordinal < ε(Ξ) and a natural ≥ 2 to sets of ordinals < Ξ. ψ maps triplets of ordinals d,a,κ to ordinals < Ξ. H_a(b), M^d_n and ψ^d_κ(a) are defined by induction on a (in the case of M^d_n, a is the largest base Ξ CNF component of d). H_a(b) is the closure of b ∪ {0} under addition, x ↦ Ξω^x and ψ with the third argument restricted to < a. For d = 0, M^d_n is the set of all ordinals < Ξ, otherwise for d =nf d₀ + Ξ^d₁ × d₂, M^d_n is the set of ordinals b < ε(Ξ) for which b ∈ M^d_{n+1}(a) and for all d₂' ∈ H_d₂(b) ∩ d₂, b ∈ Π_n[M^{d₀ + Ξ^d₁ × d₂'}_n]. ψ^d_κ(a) is defined iff the largest base Ξ CNF component of d is at most a and d,κ ∈ H_a(κ) and κ ∈ Π_2[M^d_2]. ψ^d_κ(a) is the least b for which d,κ ∈ H_a(b), b ∈ M^d_2 and H_a(b) ∩ κ = b.
For example, ψ^{Ξ2}_Ξ(0) is the least Π_3-reflecting ordinal that is Π_2-reflecting on the set of Π_3-reflecting ordinals.
I'm tired. Bye!

2024.06.02 16:31 Av1oth1cGuy The Qur'an condemns suspicion and negative expectations of Allah WAYS TO CURE SUSPICIOUSNESS.

There are verses in the Quran which condemns suspicion and bad expectations of God.[1] As well, there are also narrations which, somehow, deal with the subject of good and bad expectation of God, the Exalted:
Surah al-Fath - Verse 6 "And that He may chastise the hypocrites, men and women, and also the polytheist men and women who entertain evil thoughts about Allah [say that God will not support His Messenger (S)]. For them is a disgraceful torment, and the Wrath of Allah is upon them and He has cursed them and prepared Hell for them and worst indeed is that destination."
The Commander of the Faithful, Ali (AS) says: "Whoever has good expectation of God attains Paradise and who has bad expectation of the world suffers pain and hardship."[2]
Imam Sadiq (AS): On the Day of Judgment a servant who has done himself injustice will be presented and God, the Exalted, addresses him by saying:
"Did I not order you to obey Me? Did I not forbid you from disobeying Me?"
He then says, "Why not, O my Lord, but my lust overpowered me; if you punish me, it is because of my sin and You have not done me any injustice."
God orders him to be taken to Hell and the servant says: "I did not expect that of You."
"What did you expect of Me?" God asks.
"I had the best of expectations of You," he replies.
Then God orders him to be taken to Paradise and addresses him as such: "Your good expectation of Me just aided you." [3]
Imam Reza (AS): Have good expectation of God, because God the Glorified and the Exalted says: "I am with the servant who has an expectation of Me; if his expectation is good of Me, I will treat him according to his expectation and if his expectation is bad, I will treat him according to his bad expectation."[4]

Meaning of Good Expectation and Bad Expectation:

In short, good expectation of God is to place one's hope in His mercy while bad expectation means to despair of His mercy and compassion. One must be fearful of God's punishment but he must not despair of divine mercy. He must do what is his duty, purify his intention and be afraid of his sins. Meanwhile, he must be hopeful of divine forgiveness. The Commander of the Faithful, Ali (AS) says: "Good expectation (of God) is to purify your deeds (for His sake) and yet be hopeful that God will forgive his mistakes."[5]
Imam Sadiq (AS): "God expectation of God is to place your hope in no one other than God and to be afraid of nothing except your sin."[6]
Allamah Muhammad Baqir Majlisi (ra) explaining good expectations and bad expectations of God says: "One who does good deeds will definitely have good expectation of God and he who commits evil deeds will also surely have bad expectation of God."[7]

Effects of Suspicion:

Suspicion or bad expectation of God and His promises has detrimental impacts on one's beliefs and faith in God. Some of the negative effects and consequences of bad expectations are enumerated as under:

1. Bad expectation amounts to disbelief:

God, the Exalted, says in the Quran: "Despair not of Allah's mercy; surely none despairs of Allah's mercy except the unbelieving people."[8]
The Prophet of Islam (S) says: In his supplications, Dawud (AS) said: "O Lord, he who knows You but does not have good expectations of you, has in reality not believed in You."[9]

2. Worship not accepted:

To suspect God of not fulfilling His promise causes the acts of worship not to be accepted because it eliminates and wipes sincerity out.
For this reason, Imam Ali (AS) says: "Suspicion spoils the worship."[10]

3. Inability to tackle difficulties:

Suspicion and bad expectations of Allah debilitates a person against difficult and complex incidents. The Battle of Ahzab is one such example in which those who had just converted to Islam became suspicious with regards to divine promises following which they ceased to stand firm and strong against the enemies, whereas, in fact, the true and unflinching believers who had good expectations of Allah stood strong and hopeful against the enemies and they finally achieved victory over their foes:
"When they came upon you from above you and from below you, and when the eyes turned dull, and the hearts rose up to the throats, and you began to think diverse thoughts of Allah."[11]

4. Becoming deprived of divine attention:

Suspicion towards Allah deprives one of divine blessings and attention, because based on the traditions mentioned above, God treats everyone on the basis of good or bad expectation of Him.

Ways to Cure Suspiciousness:

✓ To get rid of suspicion towards God, first it is necessary to turn to some general principles governing the treatment of moral ills. The main principle is to think of the negative effects of these ills because when one thinks of the consequences of suspicion and how it wiped out his ideological asset and ripped him of his mental peace and made him negligent of truths, he will inevitably distance himself from mean traits and moral ills just as he distances himself from poisonous foods.
✓ Inquiries and researches done on the occurrences that possibly lead to suspicion towards God could be helpful and may assist an individual to get rid of pessimistic thoughts because some of these occurrences constitute divine tribulations which exist as a reality in man's life and that one must cope up with these realities and must, therefore, have good expectations of God. That is because these tribulations are meant to test man and are key to his spiritual progress. Some other occurrences are the direct results of man's bad acts. In short, instead of being suspicious towards God, the proper course of action is to repent and seek divine forgiveness for all the sins he has committed as well as to do whatever he can to make up for all those mistakes.
✓ Not paying heed and attention to suspicion towards God is yet another way of curing this spiritual illness because if one does not pay attention to the incoming thoughts and constantly distances himself heedlessly, this state of suspicion gradually dies down and gets eliminated. This method is also effective in treating suspiciousness towards one's own brothers in faith.
That is why we read in a tradition as a general principle that:
اذا ظَنَنْتُمْ فَلا تَحَقَّقُوا "When you become suspicious, then do not give heed to it."
In short, if a person is interested in having peace and in resistance as well as in drawing God's attention and sincere belief, he must have good intention of God and his promises including forgiveness, mercy and compassion which are achieved after one repents genuinely and seeks divine forgiveness.

2024.06.02 16:31 Throwmeawayfortoday9 Why am I (25F) always portrayed as a drunk? Maria (25F) was drunk!

I am the aforementioned “professor” in a BORU post about me related to posts in subreddit. I decided to post a response after this event was brought up again with a mutual, Maria. We’re both hanging out as I type this. She and I have both hung out with “boyfriend” (Bob) in group settings and think there are definitely two sides to this story. My main gripe is being portrayed as a drunk and a man-stealer. Below is the original BORU post that I found while browsing one day. Also, someone did find me after reading this post due to how specific it is. I am responding pararaph by paragraph so you do not need to read the original post, feel free to.
The title in BORU is below as I cannot link other subreddits. (Was able to link, after the fact)

Do I (28F) need to worry about my boyfriend's (24M) friendship with his professor (25F)?

https://www.reddit.com/BestofRedditorUpdates/s/7mIcJp6t7n
My bf (24M) became friends with his former professor (25F), sometime last year - I don't know what to make of it. They seem to be friendly and talk consistently every week, and from what he tells me, it's usually very surface level. Sometime last year after the course ended, my bf, his professor, and some of his male classmates went somewhere to eat together. My bf brought up that he was going to be attending an event (plastic modeling show), and his professsor showed interest and invited herself to the event and asked if she could stay at his airbnb with his friends. My bf and his friends were all OK with it.
I was an instructor for one class/semester that BF (Bob) attended. I have no say or sway at the school and have not taught since then. I taught a class related to my profession. I did not get to know Bob personally until after the class was over. On the last day, he expressed that I was a great instructor and gave me a miniature he built as a show of gratitude. I also made miniatures (a different type though) and was intrigued that someone else was into this hobby. We stayed in touch. Later, I invited a few students for a meal (girls and guys) and the boy students were the only ones who RSVP’d yes. Bob did mention an event. I did not invite myself, I said me and my friend Linda were interested and may go too. Later on, Bob invited me to join their group’s airbnb because I was looking at hotels. A previous event trip fell through for my and Linda’s friend group and I felt bad she couldn’t go on a trip in the USA before she had to go back to her home country. This trip was to replace that experience. Bob invited us to the airbnb and Linda and I shared a room with 2 beds, Maria ended up coming on this trip as well, which the group was also okay with, and stayed in the same room with me and Linda
I unfortunately couldn't attend the event, but from what my bf told me, he and a few of his friends met up at their airbnb. That same day, his professor comes to my bf's airbnb and tagged a few of her girl friends along (I believe they all stayed in the same place). The next day, they go to the event, went to a bar afterwards and got drinks. A lot of them (except my bf) got pretty drunk and my bf took the liberty of being the designated driver for his professor and her friends. His professor won some model kit from the event, and even in her drunken state, asked my bf if he could stay up with her to work on the kit together. From what my bf tells me, nothing else happened that night.
Respectfully, I had one cocktail and then his friend bought everyone a shot. That was the extent of my drinking. I wasn’t drunk, Linda wasn’t drunk, and no one else in the group ended up being drunk., Maria was though. Maria underestimated how strong the drinks were and she was the DD and we did not have enough time to sober up once she felt the alcohol hit her. She couldn’t drive, I didn’t want to drive her dad’s car, and Linda doesn’t have a US driver's license. Bob offered to drive the car with me, Linda, and Maria back to the airbnb. The other car was driven back by his friend who was not drunk and drove sober. At the airbnb, Bob asked what i would do with the model kit I won, I said i am not familiar with this type of miniature and so I would sell it on facebook marketplace. He said it was actually easy to build, he had built that one before, and he could help me build it right then as all their tools for building were still out on the table. I said he didn’t have to but he insisted and I accepted his help. I was also still not drunk. Next to us in the living room, Maria and 2 of the guys were watching Ouran High Scool Host Club and Cowboy bebop. We all stayed up until 2AM building or watching anime. For half of the trip, me and the girls split off and did our own thing. We did not stay with the group the entire tip because our intent was to piggy back a small girls weekend while also seeing the event.
After the event, everyone from that group created a group chat and they continue to plan and talk about future events together. Since then, my bf and his friends had met up with his professor and got to meet his professor's fiance at an anime convention and it sounded like they all got along well. His professor continues to express interest in other events and it sounds like she may be attending another event with my bf and his friends in the near future.
I trust my boyfriend and don't think he is hiding anything from me. Honestly speaking, I think it's hard for me to understand their friendship as it is his professor. I've had a conversation with him on this, and he's let me know that I have nothing to worry about. I would like to hear other's opinions and see what ya'll think of this friendship? Is this something I need to be concerned about or is it really nothing?
Thank you all!
\Edit: the professor was my bf's former professor. She is classified as an adjunct faculty and works as an accountant as her full time job (which explains why she is a young professor).*
\My bf has not graduated college yet and is still a student at his university.*
Bob and his group went to an anime convention. I and my friend group also went because I was not aware there was one near me until Bob mentioned it. My friend group, I thought, got along well with his friends and it was a great first con experience. I and a few of my friends expressed interest in future events. I think she is hung up on this professor titleship but I was an instructor whom students called professor but I was very clear this was a side gig and I was had a career. I was never in any position of power at the school, I was a contract employee used to fill an open course section at an undesirable time. For the majority of the time I knew Bob, we were equals who were only 1 year apart in age and shared a similar hobby.
Relevant Comments:
You should go to one of the events with him:
"I do struggle with social anxiety so it makes me uncomfortable to be sharing a space with a lot of unknown people. I am hoping to go to the next event though since it's local."
Her relationship with students is grossly unprofessional:
"I'm totally with you - I am also quite confused of her choice of "friends". I am not sure why of all places, does she choose to share an airbnb with her former student and to be drunk with them. She is classified as an adjunct faculty, so she is a professor but is part time (she works full time as an accountant). The whole situation feels weird to me."
Clarification:
Commenter: You say “his professor” what is their specific academic connection? She taught him once years ago and now they’re roughly equals and friends? Or she’s his primary support for a PhD? Or what?
OOP: The first option - she taught him last year and now are now friends. He is no longer in a course with her. I totally understand how it's possible for students and their professors to be friendly, but i've never heard or seen of a friendship where you consistently talk and hang out together so casually.
So she's no longer his professor- they are two adults of the same age and power level:
"It kind of gives me the same vibes like if a student graduated HS and is friends with their young teacher (obv not the same thing, but a student-teacher relationship is there). I think as a teacher, you should still uphold that level of professionalism and mentorship, even if you are no longer the student's teacher.
I also want to note that they are technically not "equals" since they're both in relationships. She can't be acting however she wants with former students."
I respect that they view my actions unprofessionally. I did not view it as such since I was no longer an instructor and have not been since. I taught a 4 month course one day a week. I would not be friends with an 18-22 year old I had nothing in common with.
Update: my boyfriend and I had a more heart-to-heart talk regarding his teacher and he recognizes that it crossed some of my boundaries. He believes that she may be behaving the way she does because when she hangs out with her fiance's friends, she gets bored with them (and may possibly be seeking attention from other people?). Several weeks later, my boyfriend had a conversation with his college instructor regarding their friendship and told her how I didn't feel comfortable of their friendship and how he thinks they should keep communication at a minimum. She brought up how she understands because her fiance also had an issue with how she chose to share an airbnb with my bf. She mentions to my boyfriend that she sees him as a brother and that's why she feels really comfortable with him, but that she will try to respect my boyfriend's wishes of keeping conversations at a minimum.
I did not know it had crossed any of their boundaries at the time until the phone call. I treated Bob the same way I treated all of my friends but I do understand and respect that not everyone has the same view of friendship. My friend group went through a period where we would talk about going to stuff and then no one does any work to follow through. The event Linda and our friends were going to attend that never happened is a good example. I didn’t want lazy friends being the reason why I did not experience things. Bob did follow through on going to things. My husband’s concern was that it was a group of guys we had not met yet in person and we were all girls. I told him that if I thought any one of them was giving off weird vibes, we would immediately leave and get a hotel. As for the phone call, he did call to tell me basically the same and my understanding was that we should talk less because she does not like the closeness. At the time, we were messaging every day and I did make an attempt to reduce the frequency to once a week.
Well, even after that talk, she continues to still message my boyfriend weekly on random life updates. And because she is also part of my bf's chat in discord, one of his friends invited her to attend another plastic modeling show (it occurred recently) and dinner. Since she accepted the invitations, I chose to attend as well so that I could personally meet her. The dinner occurred first and it was very uncomfortable because she practically ignored me the entire night. When she joined us at the table, she greeted my bf but didn't say anything to me (even my bf noticed and got annoyed, but then introduced us). She got increasingly drunk throughout the night and was saying random stuff about my bf to his friends like "he could've been the best student in my class but it's cause he missed some assignments" and "[bf's name] gave me a 5 star review on rate my professor!". She ended up not going to the show, but my bf had a chat with his guys and they told him that they want to respect my feelings too and make it a guys' night next time.
I would like to hear other's opinions and see if you also think she is acting suspicious?
One thing left out is that during the phone call between Bob and I, I asked Bob if his GF would want to ever talk to or get to know me, or all 3 of us hang out, and he said he asked her and she said she did not want to do that and she was uncomfortable at the thought of meeting me. I did stop messaging him frequently and only did so once a week to ask how his job search was going and to let him know the status of a big event in my life. I thought that was what was requested, less interaction, not no interaction. Maria and I went to this dinner because everyone from the airbnb trip was going to be there (Linda did not go). What is not mentioned is that Bob and the GF arrived 40 minutes into eating. I nodded in their direction when they came and said hey in their general direction, not specifically at Bob or her. I did not talk to either specifically because (1) GF does not like me and him talking and I was not about to directly talk to Bob in front of her (2) she said she did not want to talk to me or get to know me and never retracted that statement. I learned Bob and GF thought it was a slight against them that I only said hey to Bob but I didn’t direct it to anyone and I was trying to play it safe. Had I known she came to personally meet me, I would have tried to talk to her. After learning why she came, I was surprised she did not talk to me even though she came to meet me. As for the alcohol, except for them, since they arrived late, everyone had 2-3 drinks already because it was happy hour. Me and Maria made friends with the bartender who gave us discounted cocktails. I even bought a drink for GF so she could get the discount and then pay me back. It is true I said those jokes but I said them in jest and these were jokes already made previously. To be fair, she did not try to talk to me at all, nor did she try to talk to Maria. Later that week, Maria called me to catch up and mentioned the dinner. She commented that GF made no effort to get to know us and thought GF went to monitor him and me. In essence, she ignored me and Maria and Maria and I ignored her. I did not go to the show because I had a prior commitment.
Relevant Comment:
She wants to have sex with your boyfriend. She's crossing major boundaries. Has he stopped conversation with her?
"I wouldn't be surprised if that is her intention cause there's def some shady people out there. I agree, she is crossing some professional and personal boundaries, and I think it's quite unusual behavior for any teacher to act like that. Yes, he has stopped communicating with her. She was consistently messaging him until last week...so hopefully she got the memo.
As mentioned in her post, I did view Bob as a brother. He lived similar experiences to me but I felt like he was where I would have been had I not moved out from my parents when I did. I wanted to see him professionally thrive and accomplish his goals of getting a car and moving out as those were things I strived for but had already attained. As for the 5-6 times we met up, it was in group settings and he met all of my friends and my husband as well. This post, to me, makes it seem like I was always hanging on to Bob but there were many instances of me and my friends breaking off to do our own thing. My husband and Linda’s husband were both okay with us going to the airbnb at the time and later on met and got to know Bob too. Each time we met, if I drank, I had 2 drinks and one time I had 3. I am not sure how Bob told these events to his GF so it may just be lost in translation but the only person who ever got drunk at a meet up was Maria and it was once. I do not agree with her stating that I was constantly drunk for each meet up or always asking/inviting myself to things. He invited me to join his airbnb group (i asked if Linda and Maria could join me), I did ask to join his group for another event until my friend group arrived (which included my husband, Linda, and Maria), and his friend invited me to the group dinner (Maria attended). To this day, his GF has never said a word to me or Maria (she did not say hi, only waved to us), nor us her. When I offered to order and bring her cocktail from the bar, I believe Bob was the one who responded to my offer. I only found out about what she was thinking via this BORU post. Linda, Maria, and I haven’t talked to Bob since, this was a cathartic write with Maria as it is very jarring to randomly find a post about yourself and then also have someone find you from that post.

2024.06.02 16:30 mystery5009 I read "Babel" by Rebecca Kuang and it was very good

I've heard a lot about this book. Some said she was racist, some said she wasn't. And I decided to read it to make up my mind about it. And as a result, I liked the book.
Lore
An alternative UK, people were able to use translation as a tool because of the silver plates. Both the original word and its translation were engraved on them, which is why people could conjure, for example, so that roses would never wither.
It's simple in itself, and Rebecca Kuang talks in great detail about working with plates and the intricacies of translation. That sometimes the same word in the original has several meanings, that for an accurate translation it has to be combined with other words, and so on. And she explains it quite interesting.
Plot
Robin Swift comes to study in Oxford, or rather in Babel, where he learns the intricacies of translation. He likes to study, but soon he will realize that everything is not as simple as it seemed at first glance.
It is divided into two halves. The first tells about studying at Oxford, and the second about the riot, to put it mildly. I liked the first half better. You can feel the atmosphere and love of Oxford in it. It is written so aesthetically pleasing that I myself want to go to study at Oxford Academia, even though the author writes the disadvantages of studying in this place. The second half turned out to be weaker. It's just a typical but well-made riot story. She's sad and fascinating. And the ending is open, offering readers to choose their own development. Will everything go as in reality, or vice versa?
Characters
I don't understand those who say that the book is racist. Yes, there are a lot of bad white characters here, but there are also a lot of good ones, for example, Professor Kraft. Also, not all the actions of the heroes are good, and they suffer from some of them. And they are of different nationalities because this is a story about colonialism and through them Kuang shows all his problems.
And if you forget about it, they turned out to be normal. They are prescribed not bad, but not to say that it is good. Although the dilemma of the main character turned out to be interesting, and I followed it.
Text
The author writes very well. Even despite the huge volume, it was easy to read, and the descriptions turned out to be atmospheric, and some even beautiful.
I liked the book. I understand that the author is too direct in her statements, but I don't understand why most people pay attention only to the fact that there are a lot of bad white characters here if the book is about colonialism.

2024.06.02 16:29 Designer-Rule3010 Disappointed with Heltec Capsule Sensor v3 Firmware

Hey everyone,
I recently bought 7 units of the Heltec Capsule Sensor v3 to use as child trackers for an upcoming trip. The hardware design is impressive, but the firmware is seriously lacking. The only firmware available on the Heltec website is an outdated version (v2.2.17), and there are no official versions on meshtastic.org yet.
First impressions:
Main issue:
I'm hoping the community and Meshtastic developers can fix these issues soon with an official firmware release.
Has anyone else used this device? I'd love to hear your experiences and any ideas on how the battery life can be improved. What do you all think about this device?

2024.06.02 16:24 KamenRider01 the music tracker

i really hate using this. coming from using other trackers. this is so backwards. like for example why does the octave start at 3? youcan go lower than 3 so it should say octave 1??? who thought that was a good idea? please optimize this tracker to function like more modern trackers. this is an actual pain to use. like honestly.

2024.06.02 16:23 Sineater224 I just started a new job and my back IS KILLING ME

Im 6'6". I have back issues. My lower back hurts if Im not wearing a brace, but my upper back is my main problem.
Im a line cook and I'm having to bend or hunch over to work on everything and avoid hurting my neck. (I have bulging disks in my neck so looking down causes neck and head pain). I need to figure out a way to get it to stop hurting but I dont know how. Stretching helps while its hurting, but doesn't fix anything long term while at work.
Any ideas for what to do/workout to fix my back?

2024.06.02 16:23 DriverDriver6699 The beta test is over. Vets were simply beta testers. Welcome to Spark 1.0

It occured to me this morning doing a pickup at my main store : We've already been replaced. There were five or six drivers picking up. Only one I recognized. The rest? All brand new.
Hey vets I am talking to you: We are cooked. They want us all to go away. They want no memory of when you could do this gig 35-45 hours a week and make $1000-$1500. I don't think I could make a $1000 if I worked 70 hours now.
I'm sticking around but only in the capacity that Spark is but one of a few gig apps I use. You *REALLY* should do the same and stop camping in parking lots hoping to get an order that pays more than $15.00 and when it doesn't you say to yourself " oh come on just another hour. Just wait. Just be patient. You'll get that $25 shop or $30 curbside". Only to spend 2-3-4 hours trying to get that high paying order and when it's all said and done you are making $5.00 an hour.
Think of yourself. Think of those that you support. You owe Spark/Walmart nothing. They absolutely do not care about any of us. Hell they care so little about their customers that they are totally cool with unvetted drivers dropping orders off. Sometimes there are small children around. Sometimes you are asked to help old people bring stuff into their house. Customers have no idea that some/many drivers are not who they say they are. You know why? Because the public would not believe a corporation would allow unvetted drivers with all the liability possible. But here we are.

2024.06.02 16:23 Fish113 Tips and recommendations for first time road trips?

I recently got my first car, and while I won't be going on a road trip with it anytime soon (I'll need to do some city driving with it and check for problems), I've always thought that planning ahead is always a good idea. I've always found the US to be a fascinating place to explore with a car, it's so vast, and has many things to offer and see. Is it a good idea to do a road trip solo?
I live in Canada, and would enter the US through the border crossing near Champlain, New York. I have a list of places I would like to see, and it ranges from specific locations to broad areas, sorry if it's messy, I made it off the top of my head.
The list is as follows, in more or less the order I would like to visit:
-Plattsburgh, New York -Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home, Vermont -Cathedral Ledge, New Hampshire -Marginal Way, Maine -Melrose, Massachusetts -Cape Ann, Massachusetts -Provincetown, Massachusetts -Newport Car Museum, Rhode Island -Mystic Seaport Museum, Connecticut -Gettysburg National Military Park, Pennsylvania -Independence Hall, Pennsylvania -New York City, New York -Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia -Washington D.C., Virginia -National Museum of the US Air Force, Ohio -Stone Mountain, Georgia -Athens, Tennessee -Tarpon Springs, Florida -Cape Canaveral, Florida -Goldee’s Barbecue, Fort Worth, Texas -Kenton, Oklahoma -White Sands National Park, New Mexico -South Unit, North Dakota -Mount Rushmore, South Dakota -Glacier National Park, Montana -Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming -Grand Canyon, Arizona -Monument Valley, Arizona -Zion National Park, Utah -Yosemite National Park, California -Redwood Forest, California
Routes to drive:
-U.S. Route 50 -U.S Route 395
As you can see, I really like places with scenery and historical significance. You'll realize that there aren't many cities on this list, that's because I'm not particularly a fan of them, but I wouldn't mind visiting more population centers to see more interesting things. Any other recommendations and tips will be greatly appreciated.

2024.06.02 16:22 No-Theme-9260 [M4ApF] A post apocalyptic world

A world overrun by creatures once believed to be science fiction and a very overused movie plot, friends and family now unrecognizable blood thirsty monsters, every place unsafe for the the people who are still alive and breathing. An experiment gone wrong by a high school science teachers might just end up causing the world to end and humanity to go extinct, the very thin population of survivors either get infected due to biting or get infected due to contracting the virus by not being strong enough. The mass amount of population to survive? Under 20 people, the reason? Unknown but one thing is for sure the adults which are alive would love to experiment and find out what makes the young ones so immune.
Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well, written above is just a little idea which mixes in themes from the maze runner and from all of us are dead. What I am looking for today is a roleplay surrounded around a post apocalyptic world which is overrun by zombies. I would want there to be romance in the plot but I would want it to be slow burn and I would there to be action and them not only trying to survive from the zombies but also from the organization tracking them down. Now the specifics of the plots are all up for discussion and depends on who my partner is but that is the rough prompt which I would want to follow for the roleplay.
Realistically I would want us both to play multiple characters including the side characters and I want to do a lot of world building to make it as fun as possible, I like to pick out references so it would be appreciated if you could do the same. I roleplay in 3rd person and can write anywhere from 2 to more paragraphs and would like to consider myself to be literate, my lengths vary depending on my partner as I like to adjust to them but I like to be detailed so please be detailed. I want this to be long term so if you want to ghost me after a couple days I would appreciate it if you dont message me to begin with to save us both the time. I would love to plan stuff together so we both enjoy the roleplay and not just one of us so feel free to message me with your ideas and any suggestions which you might have had along with how you would want our characters to start off.
Looking forward to your messages and would love to discuss all of this in more detail in chat, see you soon

2024.06.02 16:21 st3IIa 'I wish you were dead'

I was reminded recently of a memory from when I was around 11 of my mother having a meltdown on the stairs. She kept repeating to me 'I wish you were dead, I wish you would kill yourself, I wish you were gone already' etc. The worst thing was that she wasn't saying this maliciously, she was just sobbing violently with so much sorrow and hurt. because of this, I can't help but feel like her words held truth. this was a very abrupt, candid meltdown, free of her usual manipulative undertones which suggests to me that maybe I really was a more difficult, a more bothersome, a more unlikeable child than others my age. her words haunt me everywhere I go and they hurt all the more because I really was very suicidal at that age. it was like she had read my mind and confirmed the idea that the only way to help the people around me was to kill myself.
I am 16 now and thankfully living with my father instead. I see her only occcasionally and when I do, she typically puts some effort in to be fairly normal and have an ordinary conversation with me without any usual violent breakdowns or arguments. I should be grateful for this, but this normalcy instead angers me. the fact that the hatred in our relationship is now one-sided from my end is a strange role reversal. I do not think it's entirely real either, there is something decidely fake in her eyes and I don't believe her friendly demeanor is true. however, when I dare mention how we 'don't have the best relationship' I'm met with confusion and denial to why is this the case. any effort to bring up the aforementioned memory or any that preceded is quickly dismissed. my mother seemingly suffers from selective amnesia and cannot recall any instance when she mistreated me or acted cruel towards my young self
to worsen this, my father also considers the relationship I have with my mother to be faulty from both ends and believes I should've put effort into fixing it. this appears to me unfair, and I don't see why the burden of mending a broken parent-child relationship should be put on the child. the explanation for this was that since my mother will not possibly even contemplate the possibility of attending any form of therapy then I should do so instead (the therapy ended up being terrible and I have not attended therapy ever since). I also doubt he sees our relationship as abusive, pathological or dysfunctional in any way. I feel guilty even typing the word 'abusive' as though all the pain and horror of my childhood was purely a product of my imagination. recently on my 16th birthday I told him it was a shock that I was already at that age and he replied that he has been treating me as an adult for years. perhaps that is why our perspectives differ
my brother is 14 and still living with my mother and his bitterness towards her at least somewhat confirms my beliefs that the family we were raised in was not entirely normal. I'm not even entirely sure myself what occured when I was a child; I am left with few memories and those that I do hold are scattered and the events are unclear. for example, I vividly remember being around 8 or 9 and begging God to kill me, which is my earliest recollection of suicidal thoughts (although I was not yet entirely familiar with the concept at the time, hence why I thought I had to ask God for death rather than take the matter within my own hands). I don't know what led to that moment nor what happened after but I never asked Him of anything ever again. because of these memories, I know that something was very very wrong, either with me or my familty, but the lack of clarity on the source of this still brings me a lot of anguish
to anyone in a similar situation, did you ever end up recollecting those memories? is it better to break contact or try to change things? how do you know if your childhood was abusive or whether you really were at fault? are some children really worse to deal with than others, or am I right to consider the actions of my mother as unforgivable? I am tired of endless doubt and I want answers

2024.06.02 16:18 GooseEasy7709 Why do most ethnic minorities not wear shorts in warm weather?

Hi, this is a question out of curiosity. It’s not intended to be offensive.
I don’t have experience with this as I am from a less diverse part of the UK.
After moving to London I have noticed that ethnic minorities in the main don’t appear to wear shorts on warm days.
Today, for example, I was in one of the royal parks walking around and noticed that most ethnic minorities (of Asian/African and Middle Eastern descent) were wearing heavy clothes and not shorts (even saw one guy wearing a winter coat). The most I saw was a black guy with a tank top on and trousers.
I have seen some ethnic minorities wearing shorts but it’s not common.
Why is this? Surely if you’re born in the UK you will find 24c warm?

I saw someone else doing something similar and figured this is a good way to get some feedback on mine. For starters, this is my first attempt at creating a magic system. I am running a short dnd campaign and thought it would make things more interesting to establish some new "magic" type stuff into my world. We are still using all spells and everything, this is just an addition to it that the plot will focus on as a main point.
I wanted to create a kind of grotesque and disturbing magic system, with a focus on physically altering your body, trying to emphasize in the system how it's not really supposed to be fucked with by mankind, but it still is.
The world itself im running takes place in the feudal era. Thousands of years ago, the world was ravaged by dragons, but they went extinct after an ancient war. That's important context for the system itself since the magic is going to be used by a cult of dragon worshippers trying to attain dragonhood and immortality.
So in reality dragons aren't magical. They get their power from chemistry basically. Their stomach acid combines with certain elements of their diet, which absorbs into their bodies, and lets them do things. So, a dragon that eats x+y+z, that xyz combines with their stomach acid and lets them do "A" attack. However, it dosen't have to be from the dragon itself. If a human combined x+y+z+dragon's acid, it would still produce "A" attack. So by discovering what combination of different elements of the world can create different effects, the cult gets closer to finding everything about them. But the only way to actually perform the "magic" is by locating and collecting this acid, which is found around their corpses. This is the first half of the system. Based on collecting these materials and using them to get whatever effect. But it's very experimental and can end catastrophically.
Secondly, is the concept of a Seraphic Mantle. Basically, dragons have the uncanny ability to restore their limbs and parts of their bodies after they get injured. Despite what legends may state, dragons were not immortal. They just have the ability to recover from injuries incredibly fast. They recover from injuries, similarly to how they perform magic, through their diet. Humans can also emulate this effect, but it comes with a cost.
The enamel in a dragons mouth can react with certain elements to heal themselves, depending on what they consume. Remnants of this substance is still found in their enamel after their flesh decays, and trace amounts in whatever remains of their bodies when they die. These elements can also combine to create the desired effect outside of a dragon. Ie, growing back a draconic limb, or wing, etc. However, it's under no circumstance "designed" for a human body. Activiating a ritual to restore a limb, or sprout wings for example, is not a smooth transition. As a limb grows inside a human and expands outward, it commonly ruptures and completely shatters any bone, rips through flesh, and tears away at arteries in order to grow to maturity. This process can take a varying amount of time, from a few seconds, to weeks, and it can leave a host either dead, or dying, in its wake. However, these grown limbs can be used, and are incredibly powerful. This is an incredibly brutal act. I was somewhat inspired by the visuals of something like godrick the grafted from elden ring, or the general enemy design in bloodborne.
Anyways, like I said, the ritual of consuming these parts and receiving the effects is known as receiving a "Seraphic Mantle." Soon after consuming and receiving the effects of a Seraphic Mantle, the aspect of the Mantle will decay and fall off. Ie, an extra limb, wings, claws etc. The accelerated healing from the dragons enamel will help heal the body, but it still leaves scar tissue around where the limb ripped out of the person
In the case of something that physically affects the limbs you already have, like turning your legs into Draconic Legs or an arm into a Draconic Arm, the draconic limb will completely fall off with time. The original arm will grow back, but over the span of days. The accelerated healing can create stem cells to restore the limb, but without extensive training, further use of a similar enhancement might cause the recovering limb to pull itself apart entirely.
I wanted to lean into the generally grotesque nature of changing your body with new limbs or unnatural modifications, and create a kind of body horror with how this magic system affects you, and how terrifying it would be to see as a concept. Kind of the idea that this kind of magic isn't meant to be meddled with by mankind. I plan to focus on that a lot as a theme, how much it destroys and mutilates the user of it, even though it comes with great power. I'm not very good at doing it in this description, but the major focus of this system is how it can make humans completely otherworldly and horrifying. Like I said, sort of inspired by things like Godrick the Grafted in elden ring, or the enemy design in Bloodborne.

2024.06.02 16:17 Open_Cow_9148 I'm a traitor.

I was In a match last night, and we were fighting bugs. I called down some new equipment, and B2 took my flamethrower for a bit. But he didn't give it back. I asked multiple times if he could give it back via voice chat. But I forgot to ask in game chat because I didn't think of the fact that some people can't hear voice chat. So after about 2 mins of asking, I was so blinded by rage because I was stuck with my shitty main weapon to fight against the hordes, I shot my fellow helldiver. It led to a heated argument over game chat and voice chat (even though he couldn't hear me, so I was just srguing with myself). Mainly because B2 had no idea why I was shooting him. Eventually, I realized that he might not be able to hear voice chat and apologized via game chat and gave him a reminder to give other helldivers stuff back. Bonelesswaifu69, if you're out there. I really am sorry.

2024.06.02 16:16 Bashful_Ray7 I adore these two riffs / vocal performances / songs from Singularity

I adore these two riffs / vocal performances / songs from Singularity
I collect vinyl and I'm putting together a second big order from The Artisan Era (this label rules, I'll post my spoils when it all comes in) and I'm having trouble finishing listening to a couple other records to complete my order because I have to keep stopping to come back and listen to these two incredible offerings from Singularity. They have a couple of my favorite riffs in Tech due to them being so damn CATCHY. Then on top, the vocal deliveries flow PERFECTLY with the groove created by the rest of the band to really solidify that "earworm" effect that makes tracks instantly memorable.
A lot of tech, even good tech, blends a bit at first due to the sheer complexity. Many times I don't fully appreciate the magic the first go round. 40-50 minutes of a group constantly trying to play 90,000 notes per minute can create an exhausting experience I've seen referred to as "Tech-Death fatigue". I've really grown to appreciate times when I feel a group avoids this pitfall and instead just set out to make something that sounds fucking COOL. And that's what we've got with these two tracks.
Of the two, Spacetime Devourment leans heavy on the band's symphonic elements (I love symphonic tech), but that riff starting around the 35-40 second mark caught me so off guard it made me, a grown adult man, audibly giggle like a little kid. There's a groove to it, a certain whimsy, that isn't very common within a genre that usually takes itself incredibly seriously, and that makes it immediately stand out. On top of that, the vocal delivery during that riff mirrors the grooviness really well, then again mirrors the melody perfectly for the chorus.
Then we have Victory or Death, which dials back the symphonic stuff and whimsy and takes a much more pressing and aggressive overall tone; yet, it still manages to deliver the grooviness with that super slick main riff and a MONSTROUS vocal feature from Jared Christianson of Arkaik. This guy has no right being this brutal AND spitting like this 🤣 just demented, it's perfect.
Some other honorable mentions
Symbolik - Coalescing the Void - just sounds "pretty", no wank, all atmosphere, feels like a sci-fi epic in its own right.
Mordant Rapture - Unsightly Beast - the vocals in the first verse or two have a similar groove to it to Jared Christianson's feature in Victory or Death, but then it comes back towards the end and is taken a bit further and borderline rapped in that absolutely DIABOLICAL delivery style of Rodrigo Rocha. Probably my favorite 30 seconds of vocals in Tech. Just ridiculous.
*** If you have any other specific songs that you feel hit like these please let me know. *** just wanted to throw these out there as examples of Tech-Death that breaks out of the usual "Tech-Death fatigue" pitfall and stereotypes surrounding instrumental "wankery" to deliver something that sounds sick, fun and memorable. I hope yall enjoy these tracks as much as I did. And yes, both of these records are going in my collection. Excellent, excellent stuff.

2024.06.02 16:16 jimmyzeet Have a Scrum Master reporting to you? I have a question for you.

Fellow IT Managers I have a question for you. Assuming you have a Scrum Master reporting to you what are your expectation for them?
For me, I want them to be a part of the team and help us deliver software. Make us better at what we do by removing blockers, driving consistency and keeping a serious eye on our backlog. I need them to know the work and understand the value our team is creating. I want their ideas to help make us better. Above all, holding everyone, myself included, accountable to make sure the team has what they need to be successful.
When I hire Scrum Masters I have clear conversations and explain this to them. I'm not looking for someone to just run ceremonies. I need more than that. I need a Scrum Master to make a great team excellent. Every one I interview is excited by these statements.
Well, I've had to let go several Scrum Masters over the last couple years. For lot's of reasons. But mainly because I couldn't get anything much past a person that ran ceremonies. Despite being very clear on what I and the team needs.
Now I have a new Scrum Master and he's pretty good but I'm starting to see the warning signs..... I give tasks and they take way too long. I start wondering where the rest of the day goes after the ceremonies are done.
I'm really wondering if I just have too high of expectations for my Scrum Master. I've worked with some stellar ones and perhaps they are just unicorns? What has been your experiences with your Scrum Masters and what do you have them do outside of the ceromonies?

2024.06.02 16:15 MustelidusMartens West Germany in the Cold War and in NATO Part 2 (12. Panzerdivision)

West Germany in the Cold War and in NATO Part 2 (12. Panzerdivision)
As mentioned before we will today delve into the West German 12. Panzerdivision, which had a quite unique position in the German army, by not being under German command, not being an armored division and not even being a fully German division during wartime.
Excerpt from federal archives file BH 8-12/150. The 12. Panzerdivision was to be put under command of the VII. Corps (US) to assist with a Soviet attack from the so called \"Thuringian Balcony\", which is less known than the Fulda Gap, but in no way less important.
Being a regular Panzerdivision (Armored division) of the Bundeswehr, the 12. PzDiv was fully assigned to the VII Corps (US) in 1983. The US army in Europe apparently had quite a lot of restructuring (OPLAN 33001) and integrated the 12. PzDiv into their defense strategy, which combined with certain needs from the German army called for some changes to the wartime structure of the division, essentially reforming it as a multinational, mechanized division.

As mentioned before, the 1. Luftlandedivision was used in a reduced state in the defense of the Bavarian Forest (Which we will delve deeper in another part of the series), taking in the Gebirgsbrigade of the 1. Gebirgsdivision. Due to this the German III. Korps was left with no corps reserve, as originally the Luftlandebrigaden were assigned as reserves for the three German corps. To migitate this Problem the 12. PzDiv gave its PzBrig 34 to the III. Korps as reserve and in turn received the forward deployed brigade of the 1st ID. Additionally the 12. Panzerdivision received ammunition, EW support and fire support from the VII Corps and the 72nd Field Artillery Brigade. On the top of that, the 12. PzDiv had OPCON (Operational control over quite a lot of US engineering assets).
\"Teile 1. (US) ID(F)\", a mention of the parts of the 1st US ID (Forward) supporting 12. PzDiv in counterattacking against the WTO forces. Source: German Federal Archives BH 8-12/165
Now for the actual defense plans.
As the 2nd ACR was to be deployed as a delay force in Northern Bavaria and was thinly stretched (Even if it was apparently reinforced, but that is an entire rabbit-hole itself), the 12. PzDiv was planned to defend the border between the V Corps (US) and the VII Corps (US) directly at the German-German border.
The basic plan was a threefold forward defense. On the left, parts of the US Brigade would fight a delay, in the mid, there would be a mixed force of the Panzergrenadierbrigade 35 and various (Possibly even US) engineering forces. The right side was to be defended by a mixed task force made up of (Among others) the armored recon battalion, a company of Panzergrenadiere, various assets of the Jägerbataillon 127, a group of Gepards from the Panzerflakregiment of the division and US engineer assets.
While this would not really affect a multiplayer division, it could be a really cool operation, based on historical plans.
Core of this defense were the infantry assets of the Panzeraufklärer and the Jäger, which will also feature more prominently in the possible ingame division. Now, this is a good moment to explain what a Jäger actually is, because i have the feel that this unit type is commonly misunderstood.
An excellent map overviewing delaying force built around the PzAufklBtl. 12 by the cold-war.de user Uraken, based on federal archive files. Note that some units are as close as ca. 500m to the inner-German border. This map was made for better understanding of the deployment and should be only seen as a crutch, since the base map is a modern one.

Jäger: A short Introduction

The concept of the Jäger is strongly related to Rangers, Riflemen, Chasseurs and other light infantry forces. Commonly, probably due to prussophilia the origin of the Jäger lies in the Jäger-units that Friedrich II. deployed in the Seven-Years War. Actually light infantry forces, in the role of skirmishers and irregulars have been part of German warfare since the middle ages. First attempts to standardize these as light infantry were done in the 17th century (First in Hessen and Bavaria, which is ironically the current game setting), recruited from foresters, hunters and countryfolk.
From the 17th century to WW1 most if not all German militaries employed Jäger, Schützen or other light infantry. These were used as snipers and fought outside of regular combat formations, to skirmish with their smoothbore arquebuses and muskets.
While during and after WW1 Jäger stayed a part of German military tradition, they were more employed as specialized light infantry, with a focus on warfare in rough terrain. The Wehrmacht used Jäger-Divisionen as a middle ground between heavier regular divisions and the very specialized Gebirgsjäger.
This concept of the Jägertruppe, as a light infantry branch, equipped and trained for hard terrain, such as the Bavarian forest, the mountains of Hesse or Westphalia was reintroduced into the newly created Bundeswehr and received several larger and smaller revisions until today. In the next part we will focus on the Jäger as they were in the Game's timeframe.
Tyrolean Jäger of the Bavarian army during the Napoleonic period. Uniform Plate by Johann Cantler

The Jägertruppe in 1989

In 1989 the Jägertruppe was split into two basic components. On one side were the so called "divisional" Jäger battalions of the field army and on the other, the Jäger units of the Territorial army.
In this short introduction i will only go into the details of the Jäger in the field army.
In the German army of the Heeresstruktur IV every Bundeswehr division had two battalions of Jäger available. These were trained in regular infantry combat, but also in irregular warfare and deep penetration (Jagdkampf). The idea of the Jäger units was, that due to the low amount of soldiers in Panzergrenadier units, the seperate Jäger forces could fight were regular infantry (PzGren) would be disadvantaged. Furthermore Jäger could fight in the hilly, forested and hard to traverse terrain of Germany, penetrating enemy lines, attacking rear area facilities of the enemy, including enemy staff up to the regimental level, or fight defensively, using the terrain to their advantage.
If and when i get the original documents i will go deeper into unit structures, including squad and platoon loadouts (Above which is "commonly known").

The 12. Panzerdivision in WARNO.

Following is a list of possible units that a 12. Panzerdivision could receive in WARNO. This list will also include some correcting to West German forces in general.
Note that i am not a competitive player, so the unit selection may not be "perfectly balanced" and that some work on it may be needed. Nonetheless i think it may provide an interesting division to play with.
In WARNO the 12. Panzerdivision could work like a mechanized division, with having less tanks than the 5. Panzer, due to the loss of a Panzerbrigade and the addition of a Mechanized one of the US Army. Furthermore the division had access to more artillery, due to US support from the 72nd FA. To offset the strong artillery tab and the good recon selection the 12. PzDiv would receive less helicopter support (if at all) due to not having access to the assets of the III. Korps and being low on priority for the VII Corps. Additionally the air tab could also be weakened.

Logistics:

The logistics tab should be split between US and German forces, with some German one being partly replaced by US ones (MAN KAT by HEMTT, or one card of M113A1 Mun. by its US equivalent).
Felddepot or Field Supply Point
Iltis Führungs
Fuchs FüFu
M577GA2
Unimog S404 Mun.
M113A1 Mun.
M577 CPC
HEMTT
M113A2 Supply

Infantry:

The Infantry of this division is stronger than the one of the 5. PzDiv, due to being a mechanized division in reality. Besides including US infantry from the 1st ID (Forward) it includes a new variant of Jäger, from the Jägerbataillon 127.
This unit had close ties to the Infanterieschule in Hammelburg (Which will be prominently featured in a later division ;) ) served as OPFOR for units training there and despite being a unit formed from reservist was manned by some of the most "experienced" soldiers outside of Fallschirmjäger or Gebirgsjäger units. Quite a lot of reservists from this unit trained outside of their regular schedule, so they can have a veterancy bonus and the resolute trait.
In addition to that i added a "Panzervernichtungstrupp", which are ad-hoc created anti-tank teams that are doctrinally prescribed in the Zentrale Dienstvorschrift 3/50. These teams are not part of the regular OOB, but created when needed in a way that was trained.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlgDUiG9a8A
This old training video from 1987 or '88 shows the employment of such an anti-tank team (Note the use of the PzF-3, without special mention by regular infantry).
Due to the inclusion of additional engineer units from the US the division has a full complement of US engineers.
Jäger Füh.
Jäger (PzF)
Jäger (JgBtl. 127), a unique Jäger variant with higher veterancy and resolute (Could replace 1 card of Jäger)
Jäger PzVernTrp (JgBtl. 127), a 5-man squad armed with G3s and two slots of PzF-3. They should also have higher veterancy and resolute.
Pz.Gren. Füh.
Pz.Grenadier (CarlG)
Pz.Grenadier (M113)
Pz.Grenadier (Marder)
Pionier Füh.
Pionier
Pionier (Flam)
Feldjäger

PALR Milan 2
Mech Rifles Ldr.

Mech Rifles Dragon
Engineers Ldr.
Engineers
Engineers (Flash)
Engineers (Dragon)
M60 7,62mm
I-TOW
Transports should be like 5. Panzer, but with M151 and M113 for the US units.

Artillery:

The artillery tab of the 12, PzDiv has similarities to the 5. Panzer, but should have more options due to the inclusion of US forces. There is overlap in this category, but this can partly be migitated by for example only allowing 1 card of German M109 and 1 card of US, to give the player a mix of national units.
FH155-1 155mm
Panzermörser
LARS 2
MARS
M109A3GA1
M110A2G (Since these are not present in the 5. PzDiv, these could maybe go for balance reasons?)
Mrs. 120mm Tampella
M106A2 Mortar (Replacing one card of German Panzermörser)
M125 Mortar
M109A2 (Replacing one card of German M109)
Possible inclusions from 72 FA: These artillery units would be available from the US field artillery unit that was additionally assigned to the 12. PzDiv. They could be additional options, replace some German artillery units etc.
M270 MLRS (HE)
M110A2

Tanks:

Due to the to lack of an additional Panzerbrigade the division has a lower amount of tanks, but receives a small amount of US units from the added infantry brigade. Additionally i added a Leopard 2A1 variant using modern US ammunition, this receiving an AP boost.
Leopard 2A1 (Including Command Version)
Leopard 2A1 Variant with US ammo, 22AP (Included in this list for fun reasons only)
Leopard 1A1A2 (Including Command Version)
Jaguar 1
Jaguar 2
M1A1
M901 ITV

Recon:

The recon tab of the 12. Panzer should be a bit better, due to the inclusion of new units that should should be made available for some, if not all German divisions.
Jagdkommandos are ad-hoc created raiding/infiltration squads, that could fight irregularly. These are formed from Jäger, Fallschirmjäger or Gebirgsjäger units (Notice a pattern?). Jagdkommandos are a very basic and regular part of the German armed forces and should be represented at least by some divisions. The 12. PzDiv is ideal due to its flavor, focusing on defensive in rough terrain.
Aufklärer and "Jäger Aufkl." should be renamed to more accurate terms.
Jg. Zielfernrohrschützen are the marksman component of Jäger units. In reality Panzergrenadiere and Jäger had regular access to G3s with scopes, used as squad level DMRs. In WARNO we can represent this aspect with these 2 man sniper teams. Not very accurate, but as long as we are stuck with 3 slots for weapons it is the best way.
The Leopard 1A1A1 was used in the Panzeraufklärer battalion of the division. These were, very similar to armored cavalry or French/British armored recon units used for aggressive recon. Since every German division had tanks in recon units, they should become general issue. This would be an historical improvement and would add a bit of flavor for West Germany.
Aufklärer (Should be renamed to Erkundungstrupp and should come in the Iltis)
Jäger Aufkl. (Should be renamed to Panzeraufklärer and come in the Fuchs)
Jagdkommando (JgBtl. 127), a unique variant of a new type light infantry raiding squad, formed from Jäger units. The Jagdkommando should have 9 men, be armed with G3s, G3A3ZFs and satchel charges. This variant should have the recon, resolute and shock traits and have higher veterancy.
Jg. Zielfernrohrschütze, a two-man recon-sniper team, using a G3A3ZF and a G3, or two G3A3ZF. This unit could portray the missing marksman component of the ingame Jäger units and should be standard for German divisions.
Leopard 1A1A1 PzAufkl. (Recon variant of the Leopard 1A1A1. Each Armored Recon Btl. had a fully and a mixed heavy recon company with Leopard 1. They were an integral part of German doctrine and this should be reflected, as with the M1A1 ACAV in the 11th ACR.
Luchs A1
Tpz Fuchs Rasit
Alouette II
M3A1 Bradley CFV
Scouts (M151A2 M2HB or M113 ACAV)

AA:

The AA tab is similar to the one of the 5. Panzer, with the addition of US Stingers
Fliegerfaust
FK-20-2 20mm Zwillinge
Gepard 1A1
FRP Roland 2
Stinger

Heli:

As mentioned before, the Helo tab should be really weak, due to a lack of support.
AH-1F Cobra
AH-1F TOWCobra (Possible addition)

Air:

The Air tab should be pretty limited and be made up of US planes.
F-4E Phantom II (AA)
F-4E Phantom II (HE)
F-4E Phantom II (HE2), a new version with Mk.83 bombs
F-4E Phantom II (CLU)

F-104G (HE)
F-104G (AT)

So What's next?:

So, as for the next division i have three possible options, two new Tank divisions with a historical twist and one semi-fictional division created from real war preparation and units:
1.Panzerdivision
  1. Panzerdivision
Verfügungstruppenkommando 42 / "Sperrverband Aller"
Let me know in the comments which division i should present next.

Does anyone have self assign roles set up? For example if you report under “the senior manager of recruiting” you can go into your own workday and assign yourself a recruiter role based on your manager?
Anyone use this? Or anything similar? Any ideas?
Thanks!
