2024.05.20 08:49 geetarawat2002 Property Registration in India in 2024 Key Steps & Guidelines

To lessen the inconveniences that were once an intrinsic part of the property registration procedure in India in 2024, the state government has devised new techniques for registering property. In other words, you are no longer required to walk around and visit government offices, where you will have to wait in long queues to register your property. The registration task can now be completed using online channels, which can be an expedient way of completing the house registry process and saves a significant amount of time.
Property Registry
The legal process is known as the property registry. This is done to generate or update the owner's name entry in the government database. The home registry process involves paperwork linked with properties filed with local authorities under Section 17 of Registration in 1908.
Is it mandatory to register the property?
Registering the brand-new property in your name is not an option. All buyers must register their property under Section 17 of the Registration Act. As the procedure advances, home buyers and property owners are obliged to pay the same amount of the deal value as the stamp duty to their state government, plus 1% of the registration fee.
In most states, home buyers must go to the sub-registrar's office to register their property. Some jurisdictions have developed a variety of services to assist landlords with the property registration procedure in order to provide time-saving and effective registration services. The owners of flats and plots can register online using the internet.
Owners and buyers should be aware that withholding registration to save money may cost them more money in the long run, and it is a risky action. Without registration under the owner's name in official records, the owner may be unable to show ownership of the property in any future deposits.
Online Property Registration
If you live in a state that offers offline property registration services, there are various elements to consider to help you complete the procedure.
Your appointment will be scheduled only when you have paid the applicable stamp duty and registration payments online. You will have to pay using a debit card, net banking, or credit card. Keep in mind that most states prefer and use online payments. Buyers may be able to pay with a check or cash in various areas of the state.
If the deal's worth exceeds 50 lakh rupees, the buyer is entitled to and must pay 1% of the TDS based on the property value. They will need to pay the amount online and print off their receipt. Ensure that you receive the receipt as required throughout the kind of verification.
Process of Online Property Registration
Several states provide websites for registering property online. For example, in Bangalore, you can access Kaveri internet services. To proceed with the process, you must first register as a user on these websites. You'll need to enter the following information:
Execution Date
Sale deed: Party number
Document registration
You will also need to provide the following:
Proof information for the purchasers and witnesses
Property value
Property nature
You will be required to provide the following documents during the registration of the property:
Identity evidence, such as PAN and Adhaar
Please include two passport photos of all parties involved, as well as authority power if one party is representing another.
Resolution copy, authorization letter, if a corporation is a party.
Property card
Payment acknowledgment for stamp duty
Registration Fee
Steps for Online Property Registration
Here is a list of the actions you must take for online property registration:
Step One: Application
To create a draft, you will need to fill in all the information required by the legislation on registration websites.
Step 2: Printing
Printing Draft printing on stamp paper with the signatures of all parties involved.
Step 3: Approval.
The online property registration websites will handle the office's inquiries and register the property with the appropriate authorities. Nonetheless, all party members must be present in the sub-registrar's office during the property registration. Visit https://legaldocs.co.in/property-registration to begin the online property registration process.
Documents You Should Carry
You will need to purchase the e-stamp papers and pay the stamp duty and registration fees online. You will need to present the documents to the office sub-registrar for verification.
The following is the information you will need to insert:
Property Description: Area, Pin Code, Number
Property types include agricultural, flat, and plot.
Modes of ownership include gift, lease, and gift.
Details about the owner, such as name, occupation, parents' names, etc.
Property proofs include attorney power and title deeds.
It is critical information to remember, and you should attempt to complete the process with the assistance of a lawyer and a property broker. It would be ideal if you never used a third party in the process.
Many states have portals to help people register their properties. These include information on model deeds and stamp duty rates, as well as instructions for parties to commence the registration process. However, to complete the property registration process, an individual must visit the sub-registrar's office.

🔗Authentic Toy Metal Water Gun

https://preview.redd.it/c61k71pxyi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05d07654ea4e380ca0957f15d172b65e968402dc
I recently stumbled upon the Toy Uzi Machine Gun, and let me tell you, it certainly caught my attention. At first glance, it looked like a cool, high-powered toy gun but as I took it out of the box, I found it to be quite different from what was advertised. Instead of a high-powered machine gun, it was just a noise-making toy.
Despite this initial disappointment, once I got it into my son's hands, it became an instant hit. The toy made a ton of noise and was incredibly fun for him to play with. We were surprised by how entertaining it was, considering its simplicity. The Uzi Bb Guns really managed to capture the essence of a noisy water gun.
The highlights of this toy are its ease of use and the fun that comes with its unique design. However, not everyone seems to be happy with what it actually delivers. Some customers have reported receiving products that weren't what was advertised. We hope the company addresses these concerns moving forward, as it's definitely an amusing toy in the hands of a child. Overall, it's a good choice if you want something a bit different that still provides some fun.

🔗Adventurous Military Mission Machine Gun Toy for Kids

https://preview.redd.it/wbtura5yyi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b8ee1cb2cc35140d3f7d1188d98ab98e2cda27d
I recently had a chance to try out this Gun Toys for Boys Combat Military Mission Machine Gun Toy, and it was quite an experience! The first thing I noticed was the awesome LED flashing lights and sound effects it comes equipped with. It's not your ordinary toy gun – it's a fully immersive military mission toy that can keep your kid entertained for hours!
In my hands, the toy felt sturdy and well-made, which is always a good sign. The scope for aiming and the gun's stand to keep it steady were thoughtful additions to the toy. But let's be honest, the highlight of this toy gun is the rotating bullet feature – it just adds that extra oomph to the playtime!
Now, as much as I enjoyed playing with this Gun Toys for Boys Combat Military Mission Machine Gun Toy, I could see that it might not be for everyone. For parents who are concerned about safety or prefer toys that are more low-key, this toy gun might be a bit too intense. And while it's easy to assemble, some kids might find it a bit challenging to put together on their own.
All in all, this Gun Toys for Boys Combat Military Mission Machine Gun Toy is a fascinating addition to any kid's toy collection. It's perfect for those who love an adventure and are looking for something a bit more daring.

🔗WWII Era Walther P.38 Replica Pistol by Denix

https://preview.redd.it/fwvgbmjyyi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ea0c178e6716707dac2de5ca19c733841734f41
I recently got my hands on the Denix Replicas 1081 Walther P. 38 Automatic Pistol and I have to say, it's a real treat for history enthusiasts! The detailed recreation of this iconic WWII weapon is impressive, and it's not just for show. It's heavier than one might expect, which gives it a solid feel in the hand. The pistol-like click of the slide and the smoothness of the mechanism make it a joy to handle, even if it's not fireable.
However, there are some minor drawbacks, like the fact that the slide doesn't lock back and the magazine can't be removed. But considering this is a replica for display purposes rather than practical use, it's not much of a hindrance. It's a conversation starter and a great way to add a piece of history to your collection.

🔗Nickel Finish Smith and Wesson 1869 Army Revolver Replica

https://preview.redd.it/bodiz0wyyi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0208f12a4164896e7e2d9d1eca362d676accfc1
As someone who's always been fascinated by the era of the Old West, I couldn't resist trying out this non-firing replica of the 1869 Army Revolver. Featuring a sleek nickel silver finish, this replica brought me back to the iconic "Cowboy" days.
Handling the replica felt like holding a piece of history, with the original's "single action" and "top break" mechanisms. It even had the added bonus of being a non-firing model, which meant I didn't have to worry about accidentally accidentally discharging it.
However, the size and weight of the replica were a bit more challenging to deal with, given that it's a faithful replica of the original. Despite this, I appreciated the fact that it gave me a better understanding of the real gun without the need to purchase one.
All in all, the Denix 1869 Army Revolver replica is a solid choice for anyone looking to step into the boots of a "Cowboy" in the Old West. Just be prepared to handle its size and weight!

🔗Realistic Orange-Green AK47 Plastic Gun for Kids and Adults

https://preview.redd.it/rg8gtjazyi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=140252e37d437c318131ca5d46379e3066696be2
My experience with this pretend AK47 Machine Gun was nothing short of entertaining. The vibrant orange and green colors definitely added a fun touch to any activity, whether it was for a party or just plain old giggles. It was easy to grip and felt lightweight, making it perfect for kids to play with.
One of the standout features of this gun was the shooting sound it made while the trigger was engaged. It was a fun addition to the overall experience and added that extra element of excitement. However, I did notice that the length of the gun was shorter than the real thing, which might be a slight inconvenience for some users.
When it comes to taking care of it, I found the hand-washing instructions to be straightforward and easy to follow. The cold water and mild soap combo seemed effective in maintaining its appearance.
Overall, this pretend AK47 Machine Gun provided a lot of fun and entertainment for both kids and adults. With its vivid colors, exciting sound effects, and easy-to-handle design, it definitely stands out as a popular choice for dress-up activities and playtime.

🔗Safe Outdoor Toy BB Gun for Kids

https://preview.redd.it/5oz7finzyi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f41ab0c91974a2042bcec5f74d1b9d75362d94c4
I recently got my hands on the latest Electronic Rifle Bolt Action from LatestBuy, and let me tell you, it's a whole lot of fun for kids aged 5 and above. This outdoor toy rifle comes with a real gun sound and a bolt action feature that makes it a perfect choice for young hunters.
One of the standout features is the realistic sound it produces, making it an exciting addition to outdoor games. However, the bolt action seemed a bit flimsy, so I would recommend it for smaller kids who can be a bit gentler when using it.
Overall, it's a cool toy that can provide hours of enjoyment for little ones. But, be prepared for some inevitable wear-and-tear because that's just part of the adventure.

🔗Affordable Large-Scale US-Made Military Accessories

https://preview.redd.it/xczbq670zi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b517281b09cb9d6bb3c3292d28e24f01b3a265c
As someone who's always enjoyed collecting army men, I was excited to try out these BMC Classic MPC Machine Guns in black and silver gray. The size of the weapons, approximately 3 inches long, allows for a perfect balance between detail and playability, which has been an important aspect for me in any army men set I've had.
The set includes 8 black and 8 silver gray M2 Browning. 50 Caliber Air-cooled Machine Guns with removable ammo and mounted on sturdy tripods. It's a nice touch that the ammo is removable, as it adds an extra level of customization to the toys. The black and silver grey colors give the set a distinctive look that stands out from other army men sets I've seen.
However, there could be some room for improvement. The set could benefit from a more sturdy packaging, like a plastic case instead of a polybag with an insert card. This would help protect the guns during transportation and storage, making them a better long-term investment. Additionally, while the size is great for play, it might hinder their display capabilities, as they may not fit perfectly on shelves or display cases.
Overall, these MPC Machine Guns have been a fun addition to my collection and serve as a great example of how well-designed, detailed, and customizable army men can be.

Buyer's Guide

When looking for a cheap automatic gun, there are several factors to consider to ensure that you get the best value for your money. Remember, the price of a gun should not be the only determining factor in your decision.

1. Purpose

Firstly, you need to identify the primary purpose of acquiring an automatic gun. Is it for self-defense, target practice, or maybe even hunting? Your purpose will dictate your choice of firearm, and help determine if you'll need specific features and calibers.

https://preview.redd.it/yclkkin0zi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=47926e98f552ebe63ad5f6a87511f047d5851842

2. Caliber

Considerations for the caliber of the automatic gun are crucial. Lighter calibers such as. 22 LR or. 380 ACP are commonly preferred for their low recoil and cost-effectiveness. However, higher-caliber guns like. 38 Special or 9mm may provide better stopping power.

3. Capacity

The capacity of the gun's magazine plays a significant role in its performance. Higher-capacity magazines mean fewer trips to the range or fewer reloads in the field. While larger capacity may be your preference, it is essential to consider the ease of loading and unloading.

4. Action Type

Automatic guns primarily come in two types of actions: blowback and recoil-operated. Blowback guns are cheaper and easier to maintain, while recoil-operated guns offer better reliability and are generally more accurate. Factors such as durability, ease of use, and personal preference should guide your decision.

5. Brand Reputation

While the price of a gun is a factor, it should not be the only consideration. It is crucial to choose a brand with a strong reputation, as it signifies quality and reliability. Researching brands with a proven track record in manufacturing firearms can be a helpful starting point.

6. After-Sales Support

Ask about after-sales support. It is imperative to know that you can easily obtain replacement parts, repair services, or even additional magazines, should the need arise.

7. Legal and Safety Regulations

Lastly, ensure that the automatic gun you choose complies with all local, state, and federal laws. Additionally, adhere to proper safety guidelines and always store firearms securely, especially in the presence of children.

Johann Gottlieb Fichte

19 May 1762 – 29 January 1814
J. G. Fichte and a priori Providentialism
Part of a Series on the Philosophy of History
Sunday 19 May 2024 is the 262nd anniversary of the birth of Johann Gottlieb Fichte (19 May 1762 – 29 January 1814), who was born in Rammenau, Saxony, then part of the Holy Roman Empire, on this day in 1762.
Fichte is often remembered in histories of philosophy as an immediate successor to Kant in the German idealist tradition. While still a young man Fichte wrote and anonymously published Attempt at a Critique of All Revelation. This was in 1792 when Fichte was 30 years old. Many believed that Kant had written this work, given Kant’s earlier critiques of pure reason, practical reason, and judgment, so when Kant denied authorship and identified Fichte as the actual author, Fichte experienced the philosophical equivalent of being an overnight sensation.
But Fichte’s life was an unsheltered as Kant’s life was sheltered. He was a born trouble-maker and was willing to touch the third rail of Enlightenment politics by writing and speaking openly about matters of religion, as revealed by his work on revelation. Fichte is sometimes called inflexible and rigid, though we could also say (a little more charitably) that he was principled and not inclined to compromise. Partly as a result of this temperament, Fichte became embroiled in a controversy in German intellectual life remembered as the Atheismusstriet, or Atheism Controversy.
During this controversy Friedrich Jacobi published an open letter against Fichte in which Jacobi coined the term “nihilism” to describe what he took to be Fichte’s position:
“Truly, my dear Fichte, I would not be vexed if you, or anyone else, were to call Chimerism the view I oppose to the Idealism that I chide for Nihilism. I have paraded my not-knowing in all my writings; in my non-knowledge I have prided myself so to be with knowledge, so perfectly and completely, that I am certainly allowed to be contemptuous of the mere doubter.—I have wrestled for truth with zeal and fervour since childhood as few others; as few others have I experienced my powerlessness—and my heart has grown tender for that—yea, very tender, my dear Fichte—and my voice so gentle! Just as I have deep compassion for myself, as human being, so I have it for others. I am patient without effort; but that I am truly patient without effort costs me a lot. The earth will be light above me—it won’t be long.”
Nihilism was to go on to have quite a career as an idea after Jacobi’s letter. While for Jacobi, the nihilism he attributed to Fichte was the inevitable outcome of reason, nihilism did not remain centered on Jacobi’s critique of Kantian philosophy, but came to signify belief in nothing at all.
Fichte’s controversial stance created a problem for the authorities at the University of Jena, where Fichte was employed at the time. Fichte wouldn’t budge, and this was one of the episodes responsible for his reputation for inflexibility, so the University of Jena dismissed him in 1799. At this point, with little to his name and few prospects, Fichte walked from Jena to Berlin—Google Maps says it takes 55 hours to complete this walk—and eventually he became part of the philosophical scene in Berlin.
Fichte attempted, semi-successfully, to support himself with popular books and lectures. For a philosopher coming from a background of Kantian philosophy—the most technical philosophy of its day—this was a bold project, but he gamely attempted to bring his interpretation of Kantianism to the masses. One of the outcomes of this effort was Fichte’s short book The Vocation of Man (1800). Fichte’s academic work was riddled with jargon, but The Vocation of Man is written in plain language and was intended for a popular audience. However, it’s still a demanding philosophical argument. In it, Fichte articulated a conception of human destiny that is universalistic, rationalistic, teleological, and even infinitistic:
“Let us not ask of history if man, on the whole, have yet become purely moral. To a more extended, comprehensive, energetic freedom he has certainly attained; but hitherto it has been an almost necessary result of his position, that this freedom has been applied chiefly to evil purposes. Neither let us ask whether the aesthetic and intellectual culture of the ancient world, concentrated on a few points, may not have excelled in degree that of modern times! It might happen that we should receive a humiliating answer, and that in this respect the human race has not advanced, but rather seemed to retrograde, in its riper years. But let us ask of history at what period the existing culture has been most widely diffused, and distributed among the greatest number of individuals; and we shall doubtless find that from the beginning of history down to our own day, the few light-points of Civilization have spread themselves abroad from their centre, that one individual after another, and one nation after another, has been embraced within their circle, and that this wider outspread of culture is proceeding under our own eyes. And this is the first point to be attained in the endless path on which humanity must advance.”
Notice that Fichte implies a distinction between two kinds of progress: there is progress toward the highest degree of excellence, and here humanity may have backslid, but there is also progress toward broadly distributed high culture, and here Fichte thinks that his time definitely surpassed previous history. Fichte also says that progress, by which he means moral progress, is an endless path, and we have already seen that it is possible for humanity to experience retrograde moral progress, so the pathway to man becoming purely moral, as Fichte sees it, is endless, it can incorporate reversals, and it can be striving to new heights or to wider diffusion.
This and many other passages point to the infinite perfectibility of man, which shows us the extent to which Fichte had imbibed the ideals of the French Revolution—or, we might say, he had imbibed the ideals of the French philosophers who were instrumental in laying the foundations of the French revolution, and were later arguably co-opted by the revolution, as in the case of Condorcet, who wrote this paean to the infinite perfectibility of man while on the run from the revolutionary gendarme. But the infinite perfectibility of man as Fichte imagines it is a teleology with a real history: things can go wrong, we can get sidetracked, we might pursue one form of moral excellence or another, and so on.
And Fichte also transmuted the French concept of the infinite perfectibility of man in the image of German idealism, producing a kind of philosophical spiritualism. Part of this transmutation of ideals came about because of the direction that Fichte saw the French revolution take as it developed. Many philosophers at the time initially supported the ideals of the French Revolution, but came to see it in a different light after the Terror and the Napoleonic Wars. Fichte as well.
Seeking to rally his countrymen after defeats inflicted by Napoleon, Fichte gave a series of public lectures later published as Addresses to the German Nation. This was more than a half century before the unification of Germany as a nation-state. In the twentieth century this work was savaged by George Santayana in his book Egotism in German Philosophy, which I mentioned in my episode on Wars and Rumors of Wars. Santayana called Fichte “an uncompromising puritan” and in Santayana’s fever dream of German expansionism he imagined Fichte as the source of it all:
“…Fichte gives us prophetic glimpses of an idealistic Germany conquering the world. The state does not aim at self-preservation, still less is it concerned to come to the aid of those members of the human family that lag behind the movement of the day. The dominion of unorganised physical force must be abolished by a force obedient to reason and spirit. True life consists in refashioning human relations after a model innate in the mind. The glorious destiny of Germany is to bring forth and establish the world anew. Natural freedom is a disgraceful thing, a mere medley of sensual and intellectual impulses without any principle of order. It is for the Germans to decide whether a providential progress exists by becoming themselves the providence that shall bring progress about, or whether on the contrary every higher thought is folly. If they should fail, history would never blame them, for in that case there would be no more history.”
Many others also have seen Fichte’s work through the lens of the wars of their time, which were the world wars of the twentieth century, rather than through the lens of the wars of Fichte’s time, which were the Napoleonic Wars.
Fichte knew that he was putting his life on the line by publicly speaking out against the French, as he at one time referenced the fate of Johann Philipp Palm. Palm, a book seller, was connected to a pamphlet, Germany in Its Deep Humiliation (Deutschland in seiner tiefsten Erniedrigung), that angered Napoleon. Napoleon ordered his subordinates to try and execute Palm within twenty-four hours. Palm was tried on 26 August 1806 by a French military tribunal, found guilty, and shot within hours of the verdict. Four other book sellers also were tried were not executed. Fichte knew that the same thing could happen to him in publicly speaking out on behalf of the German people. We can see from incidents such as this that Fichte was in the thick of the history of his own time, sometimes riding the wave and sometimes making waves.
Roberta Picardi notes both the derivation and dependence of Fichte’s views from Kant, as well as Fichte’s divergence from Kant:
“Fichte explores the epistemic status and method of history with an aim which is clearly taken from Kant: the purpose of introducing a systematic and scientific method in the infinite field of the empiricism, of which history is a part, together with experimental physics. As we can read in The Characteristics of the Present Age he wants to obtain ‘a sure progress according to rule instead of an uncertain groping in the dark’ from history, i. e., instead of the ‘Herumptappen’ (this is the German word for ‘groping’) that in the second Preface to the Critique of Pure Reason Kant contrasts with the ‘secure path of a science’.”
But the secure path of science isn’t always all that secure, given that there are multiple scientific pathways, and not all pathways lead to the same end. This is the distinction within Fichte’s philosophy of history noted by Angelica Nuzzo:
“Fichte builds his idea of a philosophy of history upon a paradoxical argument. He pushes to the extreme the claim of the bare factual nature of history as a realm of irrational, not-conceptual, and thoroughly contingent reality. Yet he also maintains that philosophical knowledge of history is possible—although neither as deductive, nor conceptual, nor genetic knowledge. Against the fictitious notion of historical Wahrscheinlichkeit (plausibility, probability), Fichte holds on to the notion of ‘historical truth’ and to its ‘logic.’ Despite its radically empirical character, history can be construed a priori.”
Some of the flavor of Fichte’s a priori approach to history can be gained from his primary work on the philosophy of history Characteristics of the Present Age (Der Grundzüge des gegewärtigen Zeitalters, 1806), in which he decomposes history into Five Principal Epochs, based not on historical contingencies, but rather upon human destiny and moral development:
“…we endeavoured to pre-figure the whole Earthly Life of Man by a comprehension of its purpose;— to perceive why our Race had to begin its Existence here, and by this means to describe the whole present Life of humankind:—this is what we wished to do,—it was our first task. There are, according to this view, Five Principal Epochs of Earthly Life, each of which, although taking its rise in the life of the individual, must yet, in order to become an Epoch in the Life of the Race, gradually lay hold of and interpenetrate all Men; and to that end must endure throughout long periods of time, so that the great Whole of Life is spread out into Ages, which sometimes seem to cross, sometimes to run parallel with each other:—1st, The Epoch of the unlimited dominion of Reason as Instinct: —the State of Innocence of the Human Race. 2nd, The Epoch in which Reason as Instinct is changed into an external ruling Authority;—the Age of positive Systems of life and doctrine, which never go back to their ultimate foundations, and hence have no power to convince but on the contrary merely desire to compel, and which demand blind faith and unconditional obedience:—the State of progressive Sin. 3rd, The Epoch of Liberation,—directly from the external ruling Authority—indirectly from the power of Reason as Instinct, and generally from Reason in any form;—the Age of absolute indifference towards all truth, and of entire and unrestrained licentiousness:—the State of completed Sinfulness. 4th, The Epoch of Reason as Knowledge;—the Age in which Truth is looked upon as the highest, and loved before all other things:—the State of progressive Justification. 5th, The Epoch of Reason as Art;—the Age in which Humanity with more sure and unerring hand builds itself up into a fitting image and representative of Reason:—the State of completed Justification and Sanctification. Thus, the whole progress which, upon this view, Humanity makes here below, is only a retrogression to the point on which it stood at first, and has nothing in view save that return to its original condition. But Humanity must make this journey on its own feet; by its own strength it must bring itself back to that state in which it was once before without its own coöperation, and which, for that very purpose, it must first of all leave.”
We can call Fichte’s Five Principal Epochs a “stadial” philosophy of history, since “stadial” refers to stages. In this passage we gain an appreciation of the necessity of the five stages of history as a developmental process that cannot be gotten around: there is no royal road to the end of the history.
In the Second Lecture from Fichte’s Some Lectures Concerning the Scholar’s Vocation, he makes explicit both the a priori developmental history of humanity and the utopian picture of the ultimate end of human development:
“…a very great man has said, life in the state is not one of man’s absolute aims. The state is, instead, only a means for establishing a perfect society, a means which exists only under specific circumstances. Like all those human institutions which are mere means, the state aims at abolishing itself. The goal of all government is to make government superfluous. Though the time has certainly not yet come, nor do I know how many myriads or myriads of myriads of years it may take (here we are not at all concerned with applicability in life, but only with justifying a speculative proposition), there will certainly be a point in the a priori foreordained career of the human species when all civic bonds will become superfluous.”
The editor says in a footnote that the “great man” mentioned was probably an allusion to Kant’s Idea of History from a Cosmopolitan Point of View. We saw in my episode on Kant how Kant saw the teleology of humanity as establishing the perfect civil constitution, though I also speculated that, if we take Kant’s later writings on history in the context of his early pre-critical work on natural history, this Kantian teleology for humanity is nested within a larger cosmological teleology. By my reading, then, Kant is actually the more naturalistic position, while Fichte is the more anthropocentric, and his ideal is a purely spiritual ideal, even an a priori idea. For example, Fichte isn’t in the least interested to even give an estimate of the period of time that will be required for humanity to abolish all government, but he only points out that this is the ultimate end.
Marx also predicted the withering away of the state after communism had been achieved, and Marx, too, emphasized definite stages in human development that would lead to this outcome. With Kant, Fichte, and Marx all predicting the end of formal human governments we might take this prediction as a distinctive feature of a certain class of philosophies of history. Toynbee, too, saw not exactly the end of the state, but the end of universal civilizations, which would cede their place to universal churches, which sounds to me a lot like Kant, Fichte, and Marx anticipating the ultimate abolition of government in a perfect society.
This we can understand as a kind of inverse teleology, in which it is not (or not only) the advent of some future eventuality that is foreseen, but the abolition of some present state-of-affairs in the future as the goal of human development. For Kant, Fichte, Marx, and Toynbee, there is a dual teleological movement, in which some novel state-of-affairs is to unfold, while a present state of affairs is to give way and disappear as the new order comes to replace it. We could call this a stadial philosophy of history, but it is as much a substitutional philosophy of history: one social order is substituted for another; familiar institutions are to be replaced by novel institutions that take their place.
As far as the new institutions are expected to be an improvement over the old, this is also a melioristic philosophy of history. All progressivist philosophies of history are also melioristic, but we can distinguish between gradualistic meliorism, in which iterated reform eventually converges on a perfect society, which could be a finite or an infinitistic process, and stadial meliorism, in which there is a replacement rather than reform of a social order, and this replacement is an improvement.
For a non-stadial, non-teleological philosophy of history, we can turn to Leopold von Ranke, who was critical of Fichte’s five epochs:
“One of the ideas with which philosophy again and again confronts history as an irrefutable claim is that mankind is on an uninterrupted road to progress, in a steady development toward perfection. Fichte, one of the foremost philosophers in this field, assumes five epochs, a world plan as he says – reason ruling through instinct, reason ruling through law, emancipation from the authority of reason, reason as science, and reason as art. If this or a similar scheme were to any extent true, then general history would have to follow the road of progress which the human race followed in the indicated direction from one age to the next. The sole subject matter of history would then be the development of such concepts as they appear and manifest themselves in the world of phenomena. But this is by no means the case. For one thing, the philosophers themselves have extraordinarily varied opinions about the nature and selection of these supposedly ruling ideas. But they very wisely focus only on a few peoples in world history while considering the lives of all the rest as nothing, as a mere supplement. Otherwise it could not be hidden for a moment that from the beginning to this day the peoples of the world have been in the most varied conditions.”
We saw earlier that Fichte by no means argued for an uninterrupted road to progress, but we can set that aside as being of secondary importance. The antagonism between Fichte and Ranke runs deeper. Ranke is often associated with the emergence of historicism, and sometimes he is identified as the source of historicism. Ranke even was willing to express his historicism in theological terms when we said that all ages are equidistant from God. With this view of history as consisting of co-equal periods each with their own integrity it would be difficult, though not impossible, to argue for progress. In Characteristics of the Present Age Fichte rejects the view that an age can be assessed on its own terms:
“Should our view of the Present Age prove to have been a view taken from the standing-point of this Age itself, should the eye which has taken this view have been itself a product of the Age which it has surveyed, then has the Age borne witness to itself and such testimony must be set aside.”
Fichte, then, needs some criterion for his view of the present age other than the present age itself, and he finds it in religion:
“…what has been the nature of this theory, considered in its essential elements, and to what chief department of human thought it has belonged? I answer:—It was a Religious Theory; all our contemplations were Religious contemplations, and our view of things, and the eye which embraced that view, were Religious.”
Fichte goes one better and actually gives a definition of religion in the next paragraph:
“RELIGION consists in regarding and recognising all Earthly Life as a necessary development of the one, original, perfectly good and perfectly blessed Divine Life.”
Both Ranke and Fichte, then, invoke theological sanction for their conception of history, though this conception is starkly different, with Ranke taking each age to be sufficient unto itself, and no less related to the divine than any other age, while Fichte took each age to be dependent upon a larger framework for its meaning. While Ranke the historian insists on the individual uniqueness of each age, while Fichte the philosopher sees each age in relation to the whole of which it is a part. It is the task of Fichte’s Characteristics of the Present Age to provide for his contemporaries this larger framework so that they can understand their place in history, which for Fichte means understanding their place in the moral development of humanity.
Even Fichte’s conception of religion and moral development is strikingly abstract, as we find a little further on in the last chapter of Characteristics of the Present Age: “…Religion is nothing external,—it never clothes itself in any outward manifestation.” And, “…True Religion does not manifest itself outwardly, and does not impel man to any course of external conduct which he would not otherwise have adopted, but that it only completes his true Inward Being and dignity.” This is not necessary an orthodox position, and we’ve already seen how Fichte got himself in trouble with authorities with his views on religion.
It would seem strange to call Fichte’s philosophy of history a providential philosophy of history, as it seems to have little in common with, say, St. Augustine, but by Fichte’s own account, his is a pervasively religious perspective, and his philosophy of history is an account of humanity’s progress toward moral perfection. This progress is a purely inward fulfillment, without any observational consequences, again, by Fichte’s own account. I’ve run into this view in one other thinker, and that is Simone Weil. In my episode on Weil I quoted her criticism of providentialism of a kind that I called vulgar providentialism:
“Divine Providence is not a disturbing influence, an anomaly in the ordering of the world; it is itself the order of the world; or rather it is the regulating principle of this universe. It is eternal Wisdom, unique, spread across the whole universe in a sovereign network of relations.”
I think Fichte would have agreed with this, and with the examples of both Fichte and Weil we can see that there is a place within the conceptual space of philosophy of history for what we could call a pure providential philosophy of history, or, if you like, an a priori providentialism.
Ranke’s criticism of Fichte is predicated upon the necessity of a vulgar providentialism that is reflected in the empirical world. But if, as Fichte said, religion is nothing external, and it does not impel man to any course of external conduct, neither should it impel any course of external conduct on the world. This also resolves the paradoxical argument that Angelica Nuzzo found at the heart of Fichte’s philosophy of history, since the bare factual nature of history can be distinguished from the providentialism that can be construed a priori.

2024.05.20 06:32 JadedSympathy1392 Bitcoin vs Inflation: Can Bitcoin Hedge Against Inflation?

Bitcoin vs Inflation: Can Bitcoin Hedge Against Inflation?
Inflation is a critical economic concept that impacts the purchasing power of money over time. Traditionally, assets like gold, real estate, and bonds have been used as hedges against inflation. In recent years, Bitcoin, a decentralized digital currency, has been proposed as a new form of hedge against inflation. This analysis explores whether Bitcoin can effectively serve as a hedge against inflation by examining its characteristics, historical performance, and comparison with traditional inflation hedges.
Bitcoin
Understanding Inflation
Inflation is the rate at which the general level of prices for goods and services rises, eroding the purchasing power of money. Central banks, like the Federal Reserve in the United States, manage inflation by adjusting interest rates and using other monetary tools. While moderate inflation is considered normal, high inflation can significantly reduce the value of money, leading individuals and investors to seek assets that preserve their wealth.
Bitcoin: An Overview
Bitcoin, created in 2009 by an anonymous entity known as Satoshi Nakamoto, is the first and most well-known cryptocurrency. It operates on a decentralized blockchain network, ensuring transactions are secure, transparent, and immutable. Bitcoin's supply is capped at 21 million coins, a feature designed to mimic the scarcity of precious metals like gold.
Characteristics of Bitcoin
  1. Decentralization: Bitcoin is not controlled by any government or central authority, making it immune to political and economic interference.
  2. Fixed Supply: The maximum supply of Bitcoin is limited to 21 million, contrasting with fiat currencies, which can be printed in unlimited amounts by central banks.
  3. Portability: Bitcoin can be easily transferred across borders without the need for intermediaries.
  4. Divisibility: Bitcoin can be divided into smaller units (satoshis), making it practical for various transaction sizes.
Historical Performance of Bitcoin
Bitcoin's historical price performance has been highly volatile. Since its inception, it has experienced significant price swings, with periods of rapid appreciation followed by substantial corrections. For instance, Bitcoin's price surged from around $1,000 in early 2017 to nearly $20,000 by the end of that year, only to drop to about $3,000 by the end of 2018. Despite this volatility, Bitcoin has shown a long-term upward trajectory, leading some to view it as a potential store of value.
Comparison with Traditional Inflation Hedges
  1. Gold: Gold has been a traditional inflation hedge due to its intrinsic value and limited supply. Unlike Bitcoin, gold has a long history of being used as a store of value and medium of exchange.
  2. Real Estate: Real estate tends to appreciate over time, providing a hedge against inflation. It also generates rental income, adding to its attractiveness as an inflation hedge.
  3. Bonds: Certain types of bonds, such as Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS), are specifically designed to protect against inflation. They adjust their interest payments based on the inflation rate.
Bitcoin's Potential as an Inflation Hedge
  1. Scarcity and Fixed Supply: Bitcoin's capped supply creates a sense of scarcity similar to gold. As central banks continue to print money, Bitcoin's fixed supply could make it a valuable store of value.
  2. Decentralization: Bitcoin's decentralized nature protects it from government manipulation and policy changes, making it a potentially stable store of value during economic uncertainty.
  3. Liquidity: Bitcoin's growing acceptance and liquidity make it easier to buy, sell, and trade, increasing its attractiveness as an investment.
Challenges and Risks
  1. Volatility: Bitcoin's price volatility is a significant drawback. Its value can fluctuate widely over short periods, making it a risky asset for conservative investors.
  2. Regulatory Uncertainty: Governments worldwide are still grappling with how to regulate Bitcoin. Changes in regulation could impact its value and utility.
  3. Adoption and Acceptance: While Bitcoin's acceptance is growing, it is not yet universally accepted as a medium of exchange or store of value.
Empirical Evidence
Empirical studies on Bitcoin's effectiveness as an inflation hedge provide mixed results. Some research suggests that Bitcoin exhibits properties of a safe haven during economic turmoil, similar to gold. However, other studies highlight its high volatility and lack of consistent correlation with inflation rates.
  1. Positive Correlation with Inflation: Some studies indicate that Bitcoin's price tends to rise during periods of high inflation, suggesting it may act as a hedge.
  2. Safe Haven Properties: Research has shown that during periods of financial crisis, Bitcoin often exhibits characteristics of a safe haven asset, similar to gold.
  3. High Volatility: The high volatility of Bitcoin poses a challenge to its role as a reliable inflation hedge. While it may protect against inflation in the long run, short-term price swings can be significant.
Case Studies
  1. Venezuela: In Venezuela, where hyperinflation has eroded the value of the national currency, some citizens have turned to Bitcoin as a store of value and medium of exchange.
  2. Argentina: Similar to Venezuela, Argentina has experienced high inflation, leading some to adopt Bitcoin as an alternative to the unstable national currency.
Conclusion
Bitcoin's unique characteristics, such as its fixed supply and decentralized nature, position it as a potential hedge against inflation. However, its high volatility and regulatory uncertainties present significant challenges. While Bitcoin may serve as a valuable addition to a diversified portfolio, relying solely on it as an inflation hedge could be risky. Investors should consider a combination of traditional assets and Bitcoin to effectively hedge against inflation. Future developments in the regulatory landscape and broader adoption could enhance Bitcoin's role as a hedge against inflation.
In summary, Bitcoin shows promise as an inflation hedge, but its effectiveness is not yet fully proven. As the cryptocurrency market matures and more empirical data becomes available, the understanding of Bitcoin's role in hedging against inflation will likely become clearer. For now, it remains a speculative but potentially rewarding component of an inflation-hedging strategy.

DDintoIRAs Part 1: Prerequisite Information for DRSing Shares Held in an IRA

Ownership vs Control

Separating these two concepts is important to figure out the issue apes have been having with respect to DRSing shares held in an IRA. This might be intuitive, but IMO explicitly defining this helps.
Ownership Control
Referred to as Shareholders Employees
Roles & Responsibilities Big Picture Decision Day-to-day Operations
Incentive? Share value increase, dividends. Salary/Wage
As a shareholder you partake in big picture decisions, such as electing members to the Board of Directors to represent your interests, voting on executive compensation plans, and other matters brought to a shareholder vote. As a shareholder you do not have the authority/right to enter a GameStop retail location and work the cash register for the day. You do not have the right to attend employee meetings at GameStop HQ in Texas. Those responsibilities are left to the employees.

Business Entities/Structure

This chart is going to do most of the heavy lifting for this section. You can ignore the Sole Proprietorship, General Partnership, and S Corporation if you want, as they aren’t relevant to this DD (as far as I’m aware). As a side note - one of my professors told me that Sole Proprietorships should never be used in general, and I feel obligated to pass that recommendation on. Either way it will not be relevant. C Corporations are only relevant so far as the fact that GameStop is a C Corporation, so you can use that as a comparison if needed.
What I’m really interested in here is the Limited Liability Company, or LLC. Forming an LLC requires filing some paperwork with the appropriate government agency, and you will probably need to file an Operating Agreement, which is basically Corporate Bylaws but for an LLC. These documents are legally binding when done properly and should hold up if challenged in court (as far as I’m aware; I’m not a lawyer). LLCs also exist perpetually as a separate legal entity. Less formal requirements than a corporation so should be easier to set up. Management is outlined in the Operating Agreement. LLCs use pass through taxation, which means that responsibility for paying taxes gets passed on to the owners of the LLC. Terms for transferring interest, if any, are also included in the Operating Agreement.
Now is also probably a good time to mention Trusts as another business entity type. Trusts are similar to LLCs, except the main differences are there are no forms to file with a government agency and no liability protection for the owners. These business entities all use different terminology to describe roles, listed in the chart below:
Ownership Control
C Corporation Shareholders Employees
LLC Member(s) Manager(s)
Trust TrustoBeneficiary Trustee
You should note that LLCs can have a single owner, referred to as a “Single Member LLC” or “SM LLC”. I don’t know where your mind goes when you see those letters typed like that but I’m personally immature and, well…

What is an IRA?

IRAs were introduced through the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA).
26 U.S. Code § 408 (parts bolded by me for emphasis)
  • For purposes of this section, the term “individual retirement account” means a trust created or organized in the United States for the exclusive benefit of an individual or his beneficiaries, but only if the written governing instrument creating the trust meets the following requirements:
(1)Except in the case of a rollover contribution described in subsection (d)(3) or in section 402(c), 403(a)(4), 403(b)(8), or 457(e)(16), no contribution will be accepted unless it is in cash, and contributions will not be accepted for the taxable year on behalf of any individual in excess of the amount in effect for such taxable year under section 219(b)(1)(A).
(2)The trustee is a bank (as defined in subsection (n)) or such other person who demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Secretary that the manner in which such other person will administer the trust will be consistent with the requirements of this section.
(3)No part of the trust funds will be invested in life insurance contracts.
(4)The interest of an individual in the balance in his account is nonforfeitable.
(5)The assets of the trust will not be commingled with other property except in a common trust fund or common investment fund.
(6)Under regulations prescribed by the Secretary, rules similar to the rules of section 401(a)(9) and the incidental death benefit requirements of section 401(a) shall apply to the distribution of the entire interest of an individual for whose benefit the trust is maintained.
This section gives some useful information that can be combined with the previous two sections to find out a bit more. The fact that an IRA is actually a Trust is helpful to know, and by reading this section and understanding how ownership and control works within business entities it becomes easier to see the problem that some have been having trying to DRS shares held in an IRA.

2024.05.20 05:33 hubbysweetnutella India to Netherlands - Processing time?

I will start with a red flag about my application, I am a 30 year old single Indian male applying for a short stay business visa to enter the Netherlands for work related training.
This is my third time travelling to a schengen country. First time I travelled to Sweden for a 40 days visit in 2015 for vacation, second time I was a student in Sweden for a year in 2016.
I have a valid B1/B2 visa to the US as well, and have travelled to US once for 2 week long vacation in 2016. Also one visit to Kuwait for business and vacation.
I work from home from my parents' home in India for a company in the Netherlands since Nov 2022, they invited me for in-person and on-site training, all expenses are sponsored by them. Duration of the training is from 1st June till 1st August. I am a mechanical engineer with a master's in engineering from Sweden.
I applied on 30th April with the following documents, and they reached the embassy for processing on 1st May.
  1. Cover letter explaining, what I do and why I am invited. Along with details about my personal finances, I have around 7000 Eur in cash, and another 7000 eur in credit card balance. Two personal account statement that showed movement of 9000 eur in each in a period of 4 months. Credit card statement showing I spent aroud 2000 EUR the previous month, no dues, or loans in my person or family.
  2. I also mentioned in the cover letter that I handle all my father's businesses in India, as he lives in Kuwait and doesn't visit often. This arrangement began in 2014. Since he has gotten older, I also am starting to visit Kuwait from this year onwards to help him one month every year in August (it's a holiday in the Netherlands for my company in August).
    • I attached a letter from my father narrating how I am the primary caretaker in India and manages all his business. And also saying that I indeed work from his home and that I am invited to Kuwait after my visit to the Netherlands.
      • To show a simple evidence of his claim I have attached two of his bank statement.
      • One account statement showing a total sum of 28,000 eur withdrawn by me from his account through several cheques in a span of 2 months in 2014. A charity amount of 1000 eur sent to the PM of India, same year. This statement also shows that during this period of 2 months he has spent around 90,000 eur.
      • Another account statement showing a total sum of 110,000 Eur spent in a span of 3 months in 2022-2023.
  3. I showed all documents requested in the checklist viz,
    • ITR's
    • Paid flight tickets. India to Amsterdam, and Amsterdam to Kuwait.
    • Home address verification docs like Property tax payment, Electricity bill.
    • Vehicle Registeration doc
  4. An invitation letter written in Dutch by the company I work for narrating my visit, guarantee of sponsorship, their financial documents, company registeration doc and accomodation for me booked by them. And a proof of sponsorship form filled and attested at their muncipality.
  5. I showed three pay slips of 2,300 EUR each as salary of the past three months that I earned from the company inviting me.
I still have a nagging feeling deep down saying there is a chance it might get rejected. I don't know why. I checked with the Swedish embassy via email just in case if there is any fault in my past records, they said that my passport is fine and I can apply for visa if I need to and everything is clean. I just wanted to prevent a huge loss on my boss' part in case if there is an issue in my records.
I also added in the cover letter that I have worked as a volunteer for several registered NGO's helping out in Ukraine and that I am aware how generous and kind the EU is towards poor people who deserve it, hence I won't ever dishonour EU rules or regulations out of respect and honour.
The VFS tracking site says "System is facing some issue please try after sometime" since the past 2 days.

Cryptocurrency legislation passes House vote
The U.S. House of Representatives will hold a full house vote on the Cryptocurrency Market Structure Act. The bill, the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century (FIT21), is the most comprehensive cryptocurrency legislation passed through congressional committees to date and a milestone in important digital asset regulatory legislation. The bill was promoted by Republican Congressman Patrick McHenry, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, and has been voted by the House Rules Committee. It will become the first digital asset regulation bill to pass the House of Representatives. McHenry said that the passage of the bill will provide a clear regulatory framework for the digital asset market, consolidate the United States’ leadership position in the global financial system, and strengthen its role as an international innovation center. Despite good progress, the bill may face challenges in the Senate, so further observation will be needed.

2024.05.20 03:10 Past-Signature-1202 2 startups (and many failures along the way), here are the 20 steps I took to generate $9.8M (profit) in 4 years.

I went from a jobless art school dropout to banking $9.8 million (profit) in just four years.
Recently, I sat back to reflect on what advice I'd give myself if I could go back in time to chat with 21 year old me, when I was starting my first company.
Disclaimer: yes, the points below are high level. This isn't meant to be a recipe book where I say, I did exactly X, to produce Y. The reason for this is the specifics are different for every business, and my goal with this exercise is to give my younger self directional guidance, not a recipe book to recreate the exact same businesses.
I'm happy to unpack any of these in more detail, feel free to ask.
Lastly, the trolls usually come out when I mention profit numbers openly because they've been burnt too many times by fake "gurus" or ppl trying to sell them courses with bogus numbers. I've got nothing to sell anyone (my agencies sell to VC backed tech companies who don't hang out on here), so really just sharing this for the reasons I mentioned above (lessons for my younger self) since I know there are a ton of first time entrepreneurs on here who could benefit.
Alright, enough with the disclaimers, let's do this:
  1. Time Commit Goals: First up, decide how many hours you're ready to grind each week. I capped mine at 25 hours to avoid burnout. It's amazing how much you can get done if you proactively block your calendar.
  2. Financial Goals: Define how much you want to earn. My initial target was $40k/month within the first year (ended up blowing past that target).
  3. Timeline: Set a clear timeline for your financial goals. As mentioned above, I aimed to hit $40k/month within the first year.
  4. Role Definition: Decide early if you’re going to be hands-on or oversee the big picture. It makes a huge difference. There's a great book called Traction that talks about the difference between a Visionary and an Implementer. I found it necessary to be both in the early days, but have since transitioned out of "Implementer" mode.
  5. Brand Legitimacy: Build the most legit brand you can — within a week. Overthinking it is your enemy. Too many people wax poetic about their brand, website, etc. Yes, it's super important an it can make you look more legit than you actually are in the early days, HOWEVER - many people spend too much time on this step, months even, and then never launch, or when they do, they have a false expectation that simply by launching their biz will do well. This couldn't be further from the truth. Building your brand and site is the fun part. Once you launch the real work starts ;)
  6. Start Selling Immediately: Hit up your network, face regular rejections, and learn from each "no."
  7. Your First Customers: These folks will help shape your business more than anyone else. Listen closely and adapt. The product idea you launch with - most likely is not the product that's right for the market. But you won't know what needs to change until you launch and start landing early customers.
  8. Price Sensitivity Testing: Start low, then increase as demand builds. I go into a ton of detail about exactly how I do price sensitivity testing in this video.
  9. Scaling Decisions: I used to think scaling was the only option. Go big or go home. If you're not growing like crazy you're a loser. But I was wrong. And dumb. That's a silly idea. There are many paths to success. Some want to go big, fast. Others want to go smoothly, slowly. Scaling isn't mandatory. I've done both and prefer somewhere in the middle of fast and slow.
  10. Master Hiring: Good hiring isn't luck; it’s a skill and crucial for growth. My companies are both services businesses (a marketing agency and a design agency) and so the quality of our hires is the quality of our product offering. This also means getting good at firing. It's just part of the job.
  11. Setting the Pace: Lead by example (duh). I’m all in when I work, ensuring I’m focused and driving progress. The team will draft off your pace, and the folks who can't keep up will make it clear they're not a good fit.
  12. Team Management: I use the EOS (entrepreneur operating system) methodology to manage my teams—it’s a game-changer for accountability and clarity. It's free to learn, and easy to implement.
  13. Proactive Marketing: Share every win. If you don’t champion your successes, no one else will.
  14. Empower Customers: Turn clients into advocates. Strong relationships lead to referrals, which are (literal) gold.
  15. Streamline Offerings: Keep your services tight and focused. Simplicity scales.
.... ok this post is getting too long. I was going to share 20 but this is turning into a novel. I shared all 20, along with a bunch of specific details in this video, feel free to check it out if the first 15 resonated with you. https://youtu.be/Gwqjljmr_pU
Curious - for those who have done a few startups before, do these resonate with you?
And for those who haven't yet - did you already have all of these on your radar? Anything you're interested in trying yourself?

Is Shopify Committing Financial Fraud Withholding Due to Stock Crashing?
I own a small business and Shopify has been holding my payments. REFUSES to explain why apologizes and says that someone will reach out- but no one ever does. This has been going on and on and on for the past 2 weeks. Come to find out, I am not the only one...
Something is up.
Shopify has been chasing me around for the last few days deleting this post that cite the laws they are breaking as I have shared it with many others who are in similar distress. Deleting this post shows that Shopify is complicit in this behavior- trying to keep us from solving a problem they created.
BELOW IS THE POST THAT HAS BEEN DELETED OVER 83 TIMES:
Our money has been withheld also. Just like yours Shopify REFUSES to deliver a response- of any kind towards clarity or a resolution (EFTA15 U.S. Code § 1693 et seq.E). Furthermore, they "resolved" the matter in my case and subsequently reversed it within minutes unceremoniously in order to retain payouts.
This is fraud. This is deceptive. This is unjust.
This is called "money floating" and yes, it's very illegal. Shopify uses our funds for their purposes (like a bank- but they are NOT a bank, and they do not have the rights to do so). The longer they have it- the more they can do with it. \as if YOU don't need your own money for the same reasons.*. Equally-*they are still bound by US FTC & financial laws (even as a Canadian company)
In this case: Shopify is the Payment Processor- while ~WE are the Consumer.~ _________________________________________________________________________ US Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA) and Regulation E EFTA: The Electronic Fund Transfer Act (15 U.S. Code § 1693 et seq.) establishes the rights and liabilities of consumers and the responsibilities of ~all participants in electronic fund transfer systems.~
  • Regulation E: Implements the EFTA and includes requirements for:
    • Disclosure of Terms and Conditions: Payment processors must clearly disclose the terms and conditions under which funds may be withheld.
    • Error Resolution: Procedures must be in place to ~resolve errors promptly, including those related to withheld funds.~
    • Unauthorized Transactions: Handling and reporting unauthorized transactions and ~notifying the consumer promptly.~
  1. Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP)
  • Enforced by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), UDAAP prohibits financial service providers from engaging in unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices. Withholding funds without proper cause or clear communication can be considered a violation
_______________________________________________________________________________ Shopify doesn't want the above posted on their forum pages because Shopify is knowingly breaking the law. Shopify's actions are Unfair, Deceptive, & Abusive This is absolutely unacceptable.
Send an email & certified letter and let them know that you are aware of the above and demand that they respond immediately.

I'd happily start a class action suit, as I am clearly not the only one affected.

Directors at the Box Office: Clint Eastwood (Part 2)

As Reddit doesn't allow posts to exceed 40,000 characters, Eastwood's edition had to be split into two parts because his whole career cannot be ignored. The first part was posted yesterday.

Million Dollar Baby (2004)¨

"Beyond his silence, there is a past. Beyond her dreams, there is a feeling. Beyond hope, there is a memory. Beyond their journey, there is a love."
His 25th film. Based on stories from the 2000 collection Rope Burns: Stories from the Corner by F.X. Toole, it stars Eastwood, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman. The film follows Margaret "Maggie" Fitzgerald, an underdog amateur boxer who is helped by an underappreciated boxing trainer to achieve her dream of becoming a professional.
Paul Haggis wrote the script on spec, and it took four years to sell it. The film was stuck in development hell for years before it was shot. Several studios rejected the project even when Eastwood signed on as actor and director. Even Warner Bros., Eastwood's longtime home base, would not agree to a $30 million budget. Eastwood persuaded Lakeshore Entertainment's Tom Rosenberg to put up half the budget (as well as handle foreign distribution), with Warner Bros. contributing the rest.
The film had an incredible run in limited release, breaking many records for Eastwood's career. It eventually earned a fantastic $216 million worldwide, becoming his highest grossing film ever. It received critical acclaim, and it was named as one of his greatest films. It won four Oscars: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (for Swank), and Best Supporting Actor (for Freeman). Eastwood became one of the very few directors to make two films to win both Best Picture and Best Director.
  • Budget: $30,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $100,492,203. ($166.8 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $216,763,646.

Flags of Our Fathers (2006)

"A single shot can end the war."
His 26th film. Based on the book written by James Bradley and Ron Powers, it stars Ryan Phillippe, Jesse Bradford, Adam Beach, John Benjamin Hickey, John Slattery, Paul Walker, Jamie Bell, Barry Pepper, Robert Patrick and Neal McDonough. The film follows the 1945 Battle of Iwo Jima, the five Marines and one Navy corpsman who were involved in raising the flag on Iwo Jima, and the after effects of that event on their lives.
The film received positive reviews, but it bombed at the box office with just $65 million against its huge $90 million budget.
  • Budget: $90,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $33,602,376. ($52.2 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $65,900,249.

Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)

"The completion of the Iwo Jima saga."
His 27th film. Based on Picture Letters from Commander in Chief by Tadamichi Kuribayashi, it stars Ken Watanabe, Kazunari Ninomiya, Tsuyoshi Ihara, Ryō Kase and Shidō Nakamura. It's a companion film to Flags of Our Fathers, and portrays the Battle of Iwo Jima from the perspective of the Japanese soldiers.
In the process of reading about the Japanese perspective of the war for Flags of Our Fathers, in particular General Tadamichi Kuribayashi, Eastwood decided to film a companion piece with this film, which was shot entirely in Japanese. The film was shot back-to-back, starting filming just one month after Flags of Our Fathers wrapped filming.
Despite being seen as the least accessible of both films, this film was much more successful at the box office than the previous film (including a colossal $42 million in Japan alone). It also received critical acclaim, particularly for how it handed the depiction of good and evil from both sides. It received 4 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.
  • Budget: $19,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $13,756,082. ($21.3 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $68,673,228.

Changeling (2008)

"To find her son, she did what no one else dared."
His 28th film. It stars Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich, and is based on real-life events, specifically the 1928 Wineville Chicken Coop murders in Mira Loma, California. It follows a woman united with a boy who she realizes is not her missing son. When she tries to demonstrate that to the police and city authorities, she is vilified as delusional, labeled as an unfit mother and confined to a psychiatric ward.
The film earned $113 million worldwide, barely breaking even at the box office. The film received mixed reviews, but Jolie received praise for her performance. She was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actress.
  • Budget: $55,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $35,739,802. ($52 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $113,398,237.

Gran Torino (2008)

"Ever come across somebody you shouldn't have messed with?"
His 29th film. It stars Eastwood, and follows Walt Kowalski, a recently widowed Korean War veteran alienated from his family and angry at the world, whose young neighbor, Thao Vang Lor, is pressured by his cousin into stealing Walt's prized Ford Torino for his initiation into a gang. Walt thwarts the theft and subsequently develops a relationship with the boy and his family.
The film received great reviews, as well as praise from the Hmong community. It ended up becoming a sleeper hit, and it earned $270 million worldwide, becoming his highest grossing film.
  • Budget: $25,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $148,095,302. ($215.6 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $269,958,228.

Invictus (2009)

"His people needed a leader. He gave them a champion."
His 30th film. It stars Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon. Following the aftermath of the apartheid, President Nelson Mandela decides to unite his people by supporting a rugby team in their bid to win the 1995 Rugby World Cup.
The film earned $122 million worldwide, barely breaking even. It received positive reviews, and Freeman and Damon received Oscar nominations for their performances.
  • Budget: $50,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $37,491,364. ($54.7 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $122,426,792.

Hereafter (2010)

"Touched by death. Changed by life."
His 31st film. It stars Matt Damon, Cécile de France, Bryce Dallas Howard, Lyndsey Marshal, Jay Mohr and Thierry Neuvic. An American with a special connection to the afterlife, a woman with a near-death experience and a young English boy, who lost his loved ones, cross paths in an effort to find closure in their lives.
Despite mixed reviews, it managed to earn $107 million, turning a small profit.
  • Budget: $50,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $32,746,941. ($47 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $106,956,330.

J. Edgar (2011)

"The most powerful man in the world."
His 32nd film. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Armie Hammer, Naomi Watts, Josh Lucas, and Judi Dench, and follows the career of FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, focusing on Hoover's life from the 1919 Palmer Raids onward.
The film received mixed reviews; while DiCaprio received praise, the technical aspects of the film were criticized. It earned $84 million, making it a box office success, but far below what DiCaprio usually makes at the box office.
  • Budget: $35,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $37,306,030. ($52 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $84,920,539.

Jersey Boys (2014)

"Everybody remembers it how they need to."
His 33rd film. Base on the 2004 jukebox musical, it stars John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, Michael Lomenda, Vincent Piazza and Christopher Walken, and tells the story of the musical group The Four Seasons.
It received mixed reviews, with praise for the musical numbers but criticism for the narrative and runtime, and failed at the box office.
  • Budget: $40,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $47,047,013. ($62.3 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $67,647,013.

American Sniper (2014)

"The most lethal sniper in U.S. history."
His 34th film. It is based on the memoir by Chris Kyle, Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice, and stars Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller. The film follows the life of Kyle, who became the deadliest marksman in U.S. military history with 255 kills from four tours in the Iraq War, 160 of which were officially confirmed by the Department of Defense. While Kyle was celebrated for his military successes, his tours of duty took a heavy toll on his personal and family life.
In 2012, Cooper and Warner Bros. bought the rights to the memoir. Cooper wanted Chris Pratt to star as Kyle, but WB told him they would only greenlight the film if he stars in it. After Kyle's murder in 2013, Steven Spielberg signed to direct. Spielberg had read Kyle's book, though he desired to have a more psychological conflict present in the screenplay so an "enemy sniper" character could serve as the insurgent sharpshooter who was trying to track down and kill Kyle. Spielberg's ideas contributed to the development of a lengthy screenplay approaching 160 pages. Due to Warner Bros.' budget constraints, Spielberg felt he could not bring his vision of the story to the screen. So Eastwood was brought in to direct.
The film attained a solid, but not extraordinary response from critics. It also attracted some controversy over its portrayal of both the Iraq War and Kyle himself.
The box office though?
To say that the film had a fantastic run would be selling it short.
It opened on Christmas Day in 4 theaters, and it earned a huge $633,456 ($158,364 PTA). But the following weekend, it actually increased despite playing at the same amount of theaters, adding $676,909. That translated to a $169,227 PTA, becoming the highest second weekend PTA in history for a live-action film. And on its third weekend, it earned $579,518 ($144,879 PTA), becoming the first film to have three weekends above $100,000 PTA. In the 22 days it played in just 4 theaters, it earned $3,424,778.
On its first wide weekend, the film shook the industry by opening with a colossal $89 million. That was almost as much as the other 2014 blockbusters, and given that the film didn't have 3D pricing, it's very likely it sold far more tickets than them. It broke the January opening weekend record by twice as much, and the second biggest for an R-rated title. With insane word of mouth ("A+" on CinemaScore), this film had the legs. In less than one week, it became Eastwood's highest grossing film domestically. On its second weekend, it dropped just 28% and made $64 million, which was the biggest second weekend for an R-rated film (a record it still maintains) and crossed $200 million domestically. And by March, the film overtook The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 ($334 million) as the highest grossing 2014 film in North America.
After an insane run in theaters, it closed with a gigantic $350 million domestically, which made it the second highest grossing R-rated film in North America. Overseas, it was also very strong, and it made a huge $547 million worldwide. It was easily Eastwood's highest grossing film, even adjusted for inflation. One of the greatest box office runs in recent memory. It received six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Actor for Cooper, ultimately winning one for Best Sound Editing.
The biggest surprise of the 2010s? Perhaps. Cause let's face it, when 2014, did any of you had this as the top film of the year? Or even in the Top 20? Please.
  • Budget: $59,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $350,159,020. ($463.7 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $547,659,020.

Sully (2016)

"The untold story behind the miracle on the Hudson."
His 35th film. Based on the autobiography Highest Duty by Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and Jeffrey Skiles, it stars Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart, Laura Linney, Anna Gunn, Autumn Reeser, Holt McCallany, and Jamey Sheridan. The film follows Sullenberger's 2009 emergency landing of US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River, in which all 155 passengers and crew survived and the subsequent publicity and investigation.
The film received strong reviews, and earned over $240 million worldwide, becoming one of his highest grossing films.
  • Budget: $60,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $125,070,033. ($163.3 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $243,870,033.

The 15:17 to Paris (2018)

"The real heroes."
His 36th film. Based on the autobiography by Jeffrey E. Stern, Spencer Stone, Anthony Sadler, and Alek Skarlatos, it stars Stone, Sadler, and Skarlatos as themselves and follows the trio through life leading up to and including their stopping of the 2015 Thalys train attack.
Despite choosing Kyle Gallner, Jeremie Harris and Alexander Ludwig as the leads, Eastwood decided to cast the heroes to play themselves, which was met with confusion as they lacked acting experience. And that was reflected on the final film; it received negative reviews for its acting, and it bombed at the box office.
  • Budget: $30,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $36,276,286. ($45.2 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $57,176,286.

The Mule (2018)

"Nobody runs forever."
His 37th film. Based on the 2014 The New York Times article The Sinaloa Cartel's 90-Year-Old Drug Mule by Sam Dolnick, it stars Eastwood, Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Dianne Wiest, and Andy García. Due to financial issues, horticulturist Earl Stone becomes a courier for a drug cartel. Slowly, he grows closer to his estranged family, but his illegal activities threaten much more than his life.
It received good reviews (although some questioned its story and tone), and earned over $173 million worldwide.
  • Budget: $50,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $103,804,407. ($129.6 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $174,804,407.

Richard Jewell (2019)

"The world will know his name and the truth."
His 38th film. The film stars Paul Walter Hauser, Sam Rockwell, Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm, and Olivia Wilde. The film depicts the July 27 Centennial Olympic Park bombing and its aftermath, as security guard Richard Jewell finds a bomb during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, and alerts authorities to evacuate, only to later be wrongly accused of having placed the device himself.
The film received positive reviews, but several journalists criticized the critical portrayal of the reporter that first accused Jewell: Kathy Scruggs (specifically for trading sex for stories). The film marked another commercial failure for Eastwood.
  • Budget: $45,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $22,345,542. ($27.4 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $44,645,542.

Cry Macho (2021)

"A story of being lost and found."
His 39th film. Based on the novel by N. Richard Nash, it stars Eastwood and Dwight Yoakam. Set in 1979, it follows a former rodeo star hired to reunite a young boy in Mexico with his father in the United States.
Nash tried to get this film made all the way since 1970s, but no studio was willing to pick it up. He restructured his films as a novel, was successful and studios were now interested. There were a few candidates for the leading role; Robert Mitchum, Roy Scheider, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Eastwood himself. Arnie was willing to star in the film back in 2003, but put it on hold when he was elected Governor. He was set to star after leaving office, but the project was scrapped after his affair scandal was made known. In 2020, Eastwood signed to return.
The film received mixed reviews, particularly for its writing and acting. It was also a huge flop at the box office, and marked Eastwood's least attended film as leading man. David Zaslav criticized the studio's decision to finance the film. Warner executives allegedly said that although they knew the film was unlikely to turn a profit, they felt indebted to Eastwood for his decades-long relationship with the studio and his consistent ability to deliver films under budget and on time.
  • Budget: $33,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $10,310,734. ($11.9 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $16,510,734.

The Future

He recently wrapped post-production on his 40th film, Juror No. 2. It stars Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, Zoey Deutch, Leslie Bibb, Chris Messina, J. K. Simmons and Kiefer Sutherland, and follows a juror serving on a murder trial who realizes he may be at fault for the victim's death.

Across those 39 films, he has made $3,536,687,297 worldwide. That's $90,684,289 per film.

The Verdict

Insanely profitable.
Even the bombs do not taint this kind of reputation. Eastwood has made all these films under budget and never past its deadline. That's something that has to be treasured for studios, no wonder he's been staying with Warner Bros. since 1976. His ability to get films ready in short notice is impressive; Richard Jewell started filming in June and it was on theaters in December. One of the most impressive actors who transitioned into directors. You can tell that Sergio Leone and Don Siegel taught him well.
Now of course, his method of directing can also have its setbacks: he's often known for not asking for multiple takes and he skips rehearsals. So that means the performances of his actors aren't always the best they could've done. Which is why, despite making some masterpieces or fantastic films, he's also made a few films with weak technical aspects: poor lighting (J. Edgar), questionable logic (Cry Macho), obvious props (the fake baby in American Sniper), and some bad acting (Gran Torino and The 15:17 to Paris). At the same time, it's clear he can also get extraordinary performances through these methods; Gene Hackman, Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman won Oscars for starring in his films.
He also proved old age doesn't prevent you from continuing to work. He's turning 94 in a few weeks, and he's still directing films. Manoel de Oliveira directed films until he was 104, so perhaps we still have a few more years with Eastwood behind the camera.
P.S. Ever since I started this series, there's been suggestions that I should do "Actors at the Box Office" multiple times. While the idea is intriguing, that doesn't seem feasible for me. I'd have to categorize whether the actor is leading, supporting, original IP, adaptation, remakes, etc. Besides, with the continuing decline of star power, it's tough to decide what actor is truly moving the needle at the box office. That's why I'm making solely "Directors at the Box Office", because the director is responsible for the production. If the film succeeds, the director will get credit. And if the film flops, the director will be blamed. So this is the closest you'll get to "Actors at the Box Office".
Hope you liked this edition. You can find this and more in the wiki for this section.
The next director will be Robert Zemeckis. One of the biggest falls from grace.
I asked you to choose who else should be in the run and the comment with the most upvotes would be chosen. It had to be a controversial filmmaker. Well, we'll later talk about... Zack Snyder. Oh, BoxOffice chose fuego 🔥
This is the schedule for the following four:
Week Director Reasoning
May 20-26 Robert Zemeckis Can we get old Zemeckis back?
May 27-June 2 Richard Donner An influential figure of the 70s and 80s.
June 3-9 Ang Lee What happened to Lee?
June 10-16 Zack Snyder RIP Inbox.
Who should be next after Snyder? That's up to you.

Theories on Theories: Assessing the Potential Magnitude of the May 17th Prospectus Filings, Part II, Is the Reverse Uno is Upon Us?
Edit: Of course I fucked up the title. Lol. Is the Reverse Uno Upon Us?*
Hello again, Apes.
I have gotten a solid 4 hours of sleep and am ready to keep plugging along.
Disclaimer: Nothing of which I discuss is financial advice and not indicative of what you should do with your money or investments. Make your own decisions. I have no idea what I am talking about.
Link to Part I of my little write-up, recommended that you read that first: https://www.reddit.com/Superstonk/comments/1cvo4hw/theories_on_theories_assessing_the_potential/
TL;DR for Part I: After 3+ years of working in near silence, Gamestop has dropped a reverse uno time-bomb nuke on shorts, and I don't believe we have fully comprehended just how big and effective of a nuke it will be. They finally released their plans to end the abusive short-selling once and for all... I believe the details in the filings have the answers. Need more eyes. We just need to HODL and let RC & Team work their magic. This was precisely timed and will be executed precisely. I believe they are about to throw the whole kitchen sink at em. Shorts r truly fuk. To be continued.
TL;DR for Part II: Although you should really read through this to get super jacked...Predicition: Gamestop will lay down the reverse uno... the company will protect its shareholders through a slew of new, private, non-dilutive security offerings that we get first dibs on, and that are backed by our current/future holdings. Cash/non-cash dividends from the proceeds of the sale of those securities (units) are on the table. Thus, forcing shorts to either pay or close. MOASS is inevitable.
Many Apes have stepped up to begin analyzing these filings. Thank you! The goal with my analysis is to continue to educate Apes on what all this jargon means, shine more light on the specificities of the filings and to speculate (for fun) as to what I think Gamestop is going to do based on the specificities. In the first part, I discussed Book Entry Securities issued via the DTC (the stock we all know and love), Preferred Stock (the juicy and scare new stock on the block), and the mysterious "Preferred Stock Depositary" (PSD) and its proposed role in the issuance and management of Gamestop's preferred stock to Apes worldwide, keeping it away from abusive short sellers and directly in the hands of Apes.
In my first part, I speculated that the unnamed PSD would likely be computershare. But the more I think about it, the more I am unsure of that. And maybe that is why it is unnamed as of yet. Many Apes from different parts of the world have been unable to DRS, so that means they have been unable to access/use Computershare to hold/manage their shares and the DTC shit the bed one too many times when they committed international securities fraud on the splividend. So, I am thinking its possible that Gamestop secures another entity with more accessibility worldwide, or perhaps is even in the process of creating their own depositary for their newly-issued securities (dare I say, units?), to manage their "Global Securities" (a term they use in the filings).

Tory vs. Tary

Chat GPT: In the context of stocks, both “depository” and “depositary” refer to entities that hold securities, but they serve different functions:
In summary, while both depositories and depositaries play crucial roles in the securities market, a depository is involved in the safekeeping and trading of securities, whereas a depositary issues receipts that represent shares in foreign companies, facilitating international trading for investors312.
It seems there is more to come here as to what exact role the depositary will serve. Notice the phrasing \"series of securities that differ from the terms described here\"
Tinfoil: We have seen some evidence of and speculated that Gamestop is looking more and more like they are positioning themselves to not only be dominant in retail gaming, but also serve as a holding company, potentially even serving as their own "bank". Could a brand new, currently unknown arm of Gamestop BE the unnamed depositary??? Warren Icahn anyone?
https://preview.redd.it/j1dmqz31lg1d1.jpg?width=748&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d8ff6dbd7a37307413c79f9527508194a509031
If so, what role would Computershare then play? This was speculated long ago and I am thinking these filings are just a peek inside the inner workings of such an entity.

Subscriptions, Warrants, and Units

Sounds a lot like "series of securities that differ from the terms described here", doesn't it? In part I, I left off with a couple teasers and I look to close the tinfoil loop on those here.
GPT:
Stock subscriptions and warrants are both financial instruments related to the stock market, but they serve different purposes:
In summary, while both stock subscriptions and warrants give investors the right to purchase shares, stock subscriptions are typically offered to existing shareholders at a discounted price to prevent dilution of ownership, whereas warrants are long-term instruments that are often issued to sweeten the deal when other securities are being sold321.

Here's where I use a whole roll of Reynolds Heavy Duty Tin Foil:

Sooo, in Part I, I offer the notion that Gamestop isn't going to just do one or two of these proposed offerings, they are going to do them all and they're telling us how. What I am gathering so far is Apes/holders/longs will get a chance to suck up the (45M, but up to 1B) book-securities shares faster and cheaper than you can possibly imagine through the simultaneous issuance/use of Warrants and Subscription Contracts. These investment vehicles will be issued to all record holders in "Units". And there's a lot of juice to squeeze outta this IMO.
Notice here, mention of \"unit agent\" and again in the bulletpoints, they mention \"a bank or trust company\" that governs the \"units\". I'm thinking they will likely be the same entity that manages it all.
Gamestop's TL;DR on units: We can issue any number of combinations of two or more of the aforementioned securities/vehicles (Warrants Subscriptions, Common Stock, Preferred Stock) which we call "Units". They may be transferable as a single security that holds multiple securities within it. Our unit Agent (a designated trust or bank) will distribute and manage the units. AND, the units might not even be listed on any securities exchange. (Privately held, hard to trade, hard to access, hard to fuck with UNITS of securities?)
So, hypothetically, all shareholders of record on a given record date determined by a supplemental filing will get FIRST DIBS to purchase en masse, a lot of Gamestop stock, perhaps cheaper than ever before. The warrants give us the opportunity to buy at a pre-determined price, the subscriptions contracts give us the chance to not dilute our value in our holdings. Gamestop is literally going to nearly GIVE us a shitload more stock, securely, and through a private, exclusive offering.
And here's where it gets even more juicy...I think they're gonna do it DFV style...in reverse order, relative to the order of each type of offering listed in their filing.

Protect Ya Neck, Shorts! There's gonna be a rush to grab GME stock!

The Plan
See if you can follow me here...in order...
  1. BOOK ENTRY SECURITIES: Gamestop gives holders the exclusive rights and first dibs to purchase a shitload more Class A Common stock through new "Units". The units house the subscription contracts, warrants, and underlying stock. But there's only 45,000,000 more slated to be offered (so far). They give us the OPTION to purchase more later on until a certain date. The subscriptions give apes the opportunity to prevent dilution of their positions through scooping up the new stock before anyone else can. The Warrants allow us to add more at a given price (buying at a fixed price on the way up anyone?) This raises a TON of capital (potentially billions) for the company.
  2. SUBSCRIPTION RIGHTS AND UNITS: Apes jump at the opportunity to scoop up more class A shares and this allows them the opportunity to then "purchase" a greater number of fractionalized preferred stock (depositary shares) than they could have before (with only 5,000,000 whole shares available). All preferred stocks (whether whole or fractional) are backed by the chosen depositary's receipts (the official ledger, NOT managed by the corrupt DTC). AND GIVEN ALL PREFERRED STOCK IS BACKED BY THE GLOBAL SECURITIES (GME Class A Common Stock)...THIS ALLOWS INTERNATIONAL APES AND ALL APES WHO COULD NOT/CANNOT DRS TO ESSENTIALLY HAVE THEIR STOCK DIRECTLY REGISTERED THROUGH THE COMPANY ITSELF. Unfuckwithable!
  3. The preferred stocks (somehow) become part of the Units where all securities are held with the Unit agent (the depositary). Proceeds from the preferred stock sales go toward the company capital, to be used for general company purposes. What are those, you might ask?
Gamestop states that, while they could, there are currently no plans to acquire other companies or make any specific investments. Until they do have those plans, they want to invest the net proceeds from the offering in interest-bearing securites or accounts.
I'm sitting here thinking...what if, as a "thank you" to loyal shareholders, they invest it back into shareholder accounts through an immediate cash dividend? Why would you want to leave if you're getting sick divvies on all your newly acquired stock (common and/or preferred)? You just spent $ buying preferred stock, why not delight investors by giving some right back? Awh but that would be expensive for the company! Nope. It would be expensive for the SHORTS who are responsible for paying that dividend!
https://preview.redd.it/a4on4059ug1d1.jpg?width=225&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21617ee7dff5ddb3e2a4046e481a47dbb464bddb
GPT: When you short a stock, you’re borrowing shares from someone else (typically your brokerage firm) and selling them on the open market12. The person or entity from whom you borrowed the shares still technically owns them. If the company issues a dividend during this time, the original owner of the shares is entitled to that dividend12.
However, since their shares have been sold to a third party (by you, the short-seller), you are responsible for making the dividend payment to the original owner12. This means that if you have a short position on a stock when it goes ex-dividend (the date by which you need to own the stock to receive the dividend), you will owe the amount of the dividend to the lender of the shares12.
So, in summary, if you’re short a stock and that stock pays a dividend, you’ll be responsible for paying that dividend to the person or entity from whom you borrowed the shares12. This is an important consideration to keep in mind when deciding to short a stock, especially one that pays dividends.
So, let's say the shorts are still regarded af...and they have the $ to pay the dividend(s), cool. What if GME issues multiple or even monthly dividends? (There are currently 80 stocks that issue monthly dividends) Well, one, they can only pay for this for so long on top of the collateral and capital required to maintain their short position... Then, boom goes the dynamite. And if THAT doesn't work, gamestop could just choose to issue a non-cash dividend...which they outline below...
Wombo Combo?
Gamestop's ELI5: In the event that we issue a non-cash dividend, the PSD (depositary) will distribute the PROPERTY received by it TO the record holders of the depositary (preferred) shares entitled there to, IN PROPORTION to the number of depositiary shares owned by those holders. UNESS...the PSD determines that it somehow cannot be done...THEN the PSD may take that PROPERTY...and sell it publically or privately, and then the proceeds from that public/private sale will go directly to holder of the preferred stock.
Tinfoil? They're gonna try and issue/distribute the Wu-Tang Album or some other non-fungible property via a non-cash dividend. If that can't be done for whatever reason, they will sell the album/property at auction...all proceeds go back to preferred stock holders. No matter what, holders of the preferred stock win.
My last bit of tinfoil sounds crazy but, again, in part I, I spoke about filings saying the stock can be issued permanently, or even temporarily.
Gamestop sucks back up a ton of their class A common stock through buy backs. They may already be beginning to do that while the price is cheap, eventually leaving only a small amount of shares, or even just preferred stock available, privately held in the names holders. Non-diluted, more scarce, more valuable, and unable to be fucked with. GME becomes its own bank. Shareholders get the protection they deserve. MOASS happens through one of many ways...
I understand this is NOT proof that they are buying back...just speculation.
Once Gamestop has the shorts off their back finally, and the capital they want/need...they then go about what they really want to continue to GROW the company...mergers/acquisitions?
Also, some other Apes have said that its possible the Gamestop is offering the shorts a way out. And while personally do not think this is fair or likely, I think its possible and would not surprise me. But what if Apes/longs suck up all the shares at these offerings before shorts even get a chance? Then they're still fucked. Still needed our shares and they're now EVEN HARDER to get.
https://preview.redd.it/xooxvb412h1d1.jpg?width=1516&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9ce6f25167ee4b65852e83e3697898217bc4d04
No matter what, I AM JACKED. I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT IT ENDS UP LOOKING LIKE.
Apes together Strong.
TL;DR: Although you should really read through this to get super jacked...Predicition: Gamestop will lay down the reverse uno... the company will protect its shareholders through a slew of new, private, non-dilutive security offerings that we get first dibs on, and that are backed by our current/future holdings. Cash/non-cash dividends from the proceeds of the sale of those securities (units) are on the table. Thus, forcing shorts to either pay or close. MOASS is inevitable.

2024.05.20 01:37 Mental-Elk9270 I dont mean to offend anyone. But is there any scripture that says Kshetriyas can eat meat.

I know a lot of people use kings hunting for example. Here is what I found
This is what Valmiki Ramayan says:
तस्मिन्निति सूखे काले धनुष्मानिषुमान रथी व्यायामकृतसंकल्प: सरयूमन्वगान्नदीम
' व्यायामकृतसंकल्प: ' means with the aim of exercise.
He says that it was a good day, hence i went to the banks of Sarayu River to do some exercise.
So one thing is clear,he was there to exercise, and not to hunt or kill any animal.
Now lets see what follows:
अथान्धकारेत्वश्रौष जले कुम्भस्य पूर्यत: अचक्षुर्विषये घोष वारणस्येवनर्दत:
It was dark at that time,i was not able to see clearly. Then i heard a voice of an animal,i thought its an elephant.
Now where is Hunting and Deer written here? Nowhere…its just TV serials show.
Kings used to catch and capture elephants for their army. Dashrath also wanted to capture that elephant, and he shot an arrow which by mistake hit Shravan Kumar. He had poisoned arrows which could make the elephant lose his senses, but it hit a human, who could not bear its poison.
This is what Ayodhyakand,Valmiki Ramayan says:
ततोअहम शरमुध्दत्य दीप्तमाशीविषोपमम शब्द प्रति गजप्रेप्सुरभिलक्ष्यमपातयम
तत्र वागुषसि व्यक्ता प्रादुरासीव्दनौकस: हां हेति पततस्तोये वाणाद्व्यथितमर्मण:
Dashrath says-”Then to get the elephant i shot a poisoned arrow.I heard a crying voice of a human from the direction in which i shot the arrow.”
So please start to read Valmiki Ramayan, don't waste your lives in lies and TV serials.
Thanks.

Manu-Samhita:
“Meat can never be obtained without injury to living creatures, and injury to sentient beings is detrimental to the attainment of heavenly bliss; let him therefore shun the use of meat. Having well considered the disgusting origin of flesh and the cruelty of fettering and slaying corporeal beings, let him entirely abstain from eating flesh.”
(Manu-samhita 5.48-49) “He who permits the slaughter of an animal, he who cuts it up, he who kills it, he who buys or sells meat, he who cooks it, he who serves it up, and he who eats it, must all be considered as the slayers of the animal. There is no greater sinner than that man who though not worshiping the gods or the ancestors, seeks to increase the bulk of his own flesh by the flesh of other beings.” (Manu-samhita 5.51-52)
“If he has a strong desire (for meat) he may make an animal of clarified butter or one of flour (and eat that); but let him never seek to destroy an animal without a (lawful) reason. As many hairs as the slain beast has, so often indeed will he who killed it without a (lawful) reason suffer a violent death in future births.” (Manu-samhita 5.37-38)
“He who injures harmless creatures from a wish to give himself pleasure, never finds happiness in this life or the next.” (Manu-samhita 5.45)
“By subsisting on pure fruits and roots, and by eating food fit for ascetics in the forest, one does not gain so great a reward as by entirely avoiding the use of flesh. Me he [mam sah] will devour in the next world, whose flesh I eat in this life; the wise declare this to be the real meaning of the word ‘flesh’ [mam sah].” (Manu-samhita 5.54-55)
“He who does not seek to cause the sufferings of bonds and death to living creatures, (but) desires the good of all (beings), obtains endless bliss. He who does not injure any (creature) attains without an effort what he thinks of, what he undertakes, and what he fixes his mind on.” (Manu-samhita 5.46-47)

Mahabharata
  1. “He who desires to augment his own flesh by eating the flesh of other creatures, lives in misery in whatever species he may take his [next] birth.” (Mahabharata, Anu. 115.47)
  2. “The purchaser of flesh performs violence by his wealth; he who eats flesh does so by enjoying its taste; the killer does violence by actually tying and killing the animal. Thus, there are three forms of killing. He who brings flesh or sends for it, he who cuts off the limbs of an animal, and he who purchases, sells, or cooks flesh and eats it–all these are to be considered meat-eaters.” (Mahabharata, Anu. 115.40)
  3. “The sins generated by violence curtail the life of the perpetrator. Therefore, even those who are anxious for their own welfare should abstain from meat-eating.” (Mahabharata, Anu. 115.33)
  4. Bhishma started, “Numberless discourses took place between the Rishis on this subject, O scion of Kuru’s race. Listen, O Yudhisthira, what their opinion was. (Mahabharata, Anu. 115.7)
  5. “The highly wise seven celestial Rishis, the Valakshillyas, and those Rishis who drink the rays of the sun, all speak highly of abstention from meat.
  6. The self-created Manu has said that the man who does not eat meat, or who does not kill living creatures, or who does not cause them to be killed, is a friend of all creatures. Such a man is incapable of being oppressed by any creature. He enjoys the confidence of all living beings. He always enjoys the praise of the pious. The virtuous Narada has said that that man who wishes to multiply his own flesh by eating the flesh of other creatures meets with disaster. (Mahabharata, Anu. 115.9-12)
  7. “That man, who having eaten meat, gives it up afterwards wins merit by such a deed that is so great that a study of all the Vedas or a performance, O Bharata, of all the sacrifices [Vedic rituals], cannot give its like. (Mahabharata, Anu.115.16)
  8. “That learned person who gives to all living creatures the gift of complete assurance is forsooth regarded as the giver of lifebreaths in this world. (Mahabharata, Anu. 115.18)
  9. “Men gifted with intelligence and purified souls should always treat others as they themselves wish to be treated. It is seen that even those men who are endued with learning and who seek to acquire the greatest good in the shape of liberation, are not free of the fear of death. (Mahabharata, Anu. 115.20)
  10. “What necessity be said of those innocent and healthy creatures gifted with love of life, when they are sought to be killed by sinful wretches living by slaughter? Therefore, O King, know that the discarding of meat is the highest refuge of religion, of the celestial region, and of happiness. Abstention of injury [to others] is the highest religion. It is, again, the highest penance. It is also the highest truth from which all duty emanates. (Mahabharata, Anu.115.21-23)
  11. “Flesh cannot be had from grass or wood or stone. Unless a living creature is killed it cannot be procured. Hence is the fault of eating flesh. The celestials who live upon Svaha, Svadha, and nectar, are given to truth and sincerity. Those persons, however, who are for satisfying the sensation of taste, should be known as Rakshasas [flesh-eating demons] pervaded by the quality of Darkness. (Mahabharata, Anu.115.24-25)
  12. “If there were nobody who ate flesh, then there would be nobody to slay living creatures. The man who slays living creatures kills them for the sake of the person who eats flesh. If flesh were not considered as food, there would then be no destruction of living creatures. It is for the sake of the eater that the destruction of living entities is carried on in the world. Since, O you of great splendor, the period of life is shortened by persons who kill living creatures or cause them to be killed, it is clear that the person who seeks his own good should give up meat altogether. Those dreadful persons who are engaged in the destruction of living beings never find protectors when they are in need. Such persons should always be molested and punished even as beast of prey. (Mahabharata, Anu.115.29-32)
  13. “That man who seeks to multiply his own flesh by (eating) the flesh of others has to live in this world in great anxiety, and after death has to take birth in indifferent races and families. High Rishis given to the observance of vows and self-control have said that abstention from meat is worthy of praise, productive of fame and Heaven, and a great satisfaction itself. This I heard formerly, O son of Kunti, from Markandeya when that Rishi discoursed on the sins of eating flesh. (Mahabharata, Anu.115.34-36)
  14. “He who purchases flesh, kills living creatures through his money. He who eats flesh, kills living beings through his eating. He who binds or seizes and actually kills living creatures is the slaughterer. These are the three sorts of slaughter through each of these acts. He who does not himself eat flesh but approves of an act of slaughter, becomes stained with the sin of slaughter. (Mahabharata, Anu.115.38-39)
  15. “That wretched man who kills living creatures for the sake of those who would eat them commits great sin. The eater’s sin is not as great. That wretched man who, following the path of religious rites and sacrifices as laid down in the Vedas, would kill a living creature from a desire to eats its flesh, will certainly go to hell. That man who having eaten flesh abstains from it afterwards acquires great merit on account of such abstention from sin. He who arranges for obtaining flesh, he who approves of those arrangements, he who kills, he who buys or sells, he who cooks, and he who eats it, [acquire the sin of those who] are all considered as eaters of flesh. [Therefore] that man who wishes to avoid disaster should abstain from the meat of every living creature. (Mahabharata, Anu.115.44-48)
16 . “Listen to me, O king of kings, as I tell you this, O sinless one, there is absolute happiness in abstaining from meat, O king. He who practices severe austerities for a century, and he who abstains from meat, are both equally meritorious. This is my opinion. (Mahabharata, Anu.115.52-53)
  1. “Yudhisthira said: Alas, those cruel men who, not caring for various other sorts of food, want only flesh, are really like great Rakshasas [meat-eating demons]. (Mahabharata, Anu.116.1)
  2. “Bhishma said: That man who wishes to increase his own flesh by the meat of another living creature is such that there is none meaner and more cruel than he. In this world there is nothing that is dearer to a creature than his life. Hence, one should show mercy to the lives of others as he does to his own life. Forsooth, O son, flesh has its origin in the vital seed. There is great sin attached to its eating, as, indeed, there is merit in abstaining from it. (Mahabharata, Anu.116.11-13)
  3. “There is nothing, O delighter of the Kurus, that is equal in point of merit, either in this world or in the next, to the practice of mercy to all living creatures. (Mahabharata, Anu.116.19)
  4. “Hence a person of purified soul should be merciful to all living creatures. That man, O king, who abstains from every kind of meat from his birth forsooth, acquires a large space in the celestial region. They who eat the flesh of animals who are desirous of life, are themselves [later] eaten by the animals they eat. This is my opinion. Since he has eaten me, I shall eat him in return. This, O Bharata, forms the character as Mamsah [meaning flesh] of Mamsah [me he, or “me he” will eat for having eaten him]. The destroyer is always slain. After him the eater meets with the same fate. (Mahabharata, Anu.116.32-35)
  5. “He who acts with hostility towards another becomes victim of similar deeds done by that other. Whatever acts one does in whatever bodies, he has to suffer the consequences thereof in those bodies. (Mahabharata, Anu.116.36-37)
  6. “Abstention from cruelty is the highest Religion. Abstention from cruelty is the greatest self-restraint. Abstention from cruelty is the highest gift. Abstention from cruelty is the highest penance. Abstention from cruelty is the highest sacrifice. Abstention from cruelty is the highest power. Abstention from cruelty is the greatest friend. Abstention from cruelty is the greatest happiness. (Mahabharata, Anu.116.38-39)
  7. “Gifts made in all sacrifices [rituals], ablutions performed in all sacred water, and the merit which one acquires from making all kinds of gifts mentioned in the scriptures, all these do not equal in merit abstention from cruelty.” (Mahabharata, Anu.116.40)
Do the Vedic literature allow meat-eating? Did Hinduism adopt vegetarianism from Buddhism? - The Spiritual Scientist
Bhagavata Purana:
“Those who are ignorant of real dharma and, though wicked and haughty, account themselves virtuous, kill animals without any feeling of remorse or fear of punishment. Further, in their next lives, such sinful persons will be eaten by the same creatures they have killed in this world.” (Bhagavata Purana 11.5.14)
The real purpose of a sacrifice was not to replace a slaughterhouse but to test a Vedic mantra by giving an animal new life. Animals were used to test the power of Vedic mantras, not for meat. - Srimad Bhagavatam 4.4.6 purport

Cow Sacrifice ? Not At All :
Besides References,Here’s What Supreme Lord Saying About Sacrifice -
CC Ādi 17.158 — As a learned scholar, the Kazi challenged Caitanya Mahāprabhu, “In Your Vedic scriptures there is an injunction for killing a cow. On the strength of this injunction, great sages performed sacrifices involving cow-killing.”
CC Ādi 17.159 — Refuting the Kazi’s statement, the Lord immediately replied, “The Vedas clearly enjoin that cows should not be killed. Therefore every Hindu, whoever he may be, avoids indulging in cow-killing.
CC Ādi 17.160 — “In the Vedas and Purāṇas there are injunctions declaring that if one can revive a living being, one can kill it for experimental purposes.
CC Ādi 17.161 — “Therefore the great sages sometimes killed old cows, and by chanting Vedic hymns they brought them back to life for perfection.
CC Ādi 17.162 — “The killing and rejuvenation of such old and invalid cows was not truly killing but an act of great benefit.
CC Ādi 17.163 — “Formerly there were powerful brāhmaṇas who could make such experiments using Vedic hymns, but now, because of the Kali-yuga, brāhmaṇas are not so powerful. Therefore the killing of cows and bulls for rejuvenation is forbidden.
—Ādi 17: The Pastimes of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu in His Youth
Srila Prabhupada Says - So killing, killing is very bad, but killing for the sake of right cause of fighting, or killing in the sacrifice, they are not sinful. Sometimes in the Vedas killing is recommended, just like in the fight or in the sacrifice, but that is not sinful. Sometimes a brāhmaṇa is sacrificing, offering, performing great sacrifice, and the animal is put into the fire just to give him renovated, new life, not for killing, just to test how Vedic mantras are being properly pronounced. That will be test. When sacrifice is done, the fire is there, and old animal is put into the sacrifice, and he comes out with a new body. That means the Vedic mantras are being pronounced very properly, and it is being carried out. This is the experiment, not for killing. Although in the Vedas there are recommendation that paśu-vadha system... Just like in the modern age also, when some experiment is made, it is made on the life of the animal. But they are killed. But when there is recommendation of putting an animal in the fire, that is not for killing; that is to see that this animal has got a new body.
Lecture on BG 2.14 -- London, August 20, 1973
Pradyumna: Aśvamedha-yajñas or gomedha-yajñas, or the sacrifices in which a horse or a bull is sacrificed, were not, of course, for the purpose of killing the animals. Lord Caitanya said that such animalssacrificed on the altar of yajña were rejuvenated and a new life was given to them. It was just to prove the efficacy of the hymns of the Vedas. By recitation of the hymns of the Vedas in the proper way, certainly the performer gets relief from the reactions of sins. But in case of such sacrifices not properly done under expert management, certainly one has to become responsible for animal sacrifice."
Prabhupāda: This is a long subject matter. But the sacrifice in yajña, recommended, that is not for killing the animal, but it is a testing, how the Vedic mantras are being properly chanted. Because an oldanimal put into the fire, by Vedic mantras he would come out again with young life. That is sacrifice of animals in the yajña. Therefore in this age there is no such expert brāhmaṇa who can chant the mantras properly or he can behave because the life is very abominable. Therefore, because there is no expert brāhmaṇa, so these sacrifices are forbidden in this age. Kalau pañca vivarjayet aśvamedhaṁ gavālambhaṁ devareṇa sutotpattiṁ sannyāsam (CC Adi 17.164). These things are forbidden in this age, because there is no proper men to conduct.
Lecture on SB 1.8.52 -- Los Angeles, May 14, 1973
The purpose of the Vedas is to establish such principles under the order of the Supreme Lord, and the Lord directly orders, at the end of the Gītā, that the highest principle of religion is to surrender unto Him only, and nothing more. The Vedic principles push one towards complete surrender unto Him; and whenever such principles are disturbed by the demoniac, the Lord appears. From the Bhāgavatam we understand that Lord Buddha is the incarnation of Kṛṣṇa who appeared when materialism was rampant and materialists were using the pretext of the authority of the Vedas. Although there are certain restrictive rules and regulations regarding animal sacrifice for particular purposes in the Vedas, people of demonic tendency still took to animal sacrifice without reference to the Vedic principles. Lord Buddha appeared to stop this nonsense and to establish the Vedic principles of nonviolence.
BG 4.7, Purport
Lord Buddha, a powerful incarnation of the Personality of Godhead, appeared in the province of Gayā (Bihar) as the son of Añjanā, and he preached his own conception of nonviolence and deprecated even the animal sacrifices sanctioned in the Vedas. At the time when Lord Buddha appeared, the people in general were atheistic and preferred animal flesh to anything else. On the plea of Vedic sacrifice, every place was practically turned into a slaughterhouse, and animal-killing was indulged in unrestrictedly. Lord Buddha preached nonviolence, taking pity on the poor animals. He preached that he did not believe in the tenets of the Vedas and stressed the adverse psychological effects incurred by animal-killing. Less intelligent men of the age of Kali, who had no faith in God, followed his principle, and for the time being they were trained in moral discipline and nonviolence, the preliminary steps for proceeding further on the path of God realization. He deluded the atheists because such atheists who followed his principles did not believe in God, but they kept their absolute faith in Lord Buddha, who himself was the incarnation of God. Thus the faithless people were made to believe in God in the form of Lord Buddha. That was the mercy of Lord Buddha: he made the faithless faithful to him.
SB 1.3.24, Purport
The horse sacrifice yajña or cow sacrifice yajña performed by the Vedic regulations shouldn't be misunderstood as a process of killing animals. On the contrary, animals offered for the yajña were rejuvenated to a new span of life by the transcendental power of chanting the Vedic hymns, which, if properly chanted, are different from what is understood by the common layman. The Veda-mantras are all practical, and the proof is rejuvenation of the sacrificed animal.
SB 1.12.34, Purport
According to sacrificial rituals, animals are sometimes sacrificed in the yajña arena. Such animals are sacrificed not to kill them but to give them new life. Such action was an experiment to observe whether the Vedic mantras were being properly pronounced. Sometimes small animals are killed in a medical laboratory to investigate therapeutic effects. In a medical clinic, the animals are not revived, but in the yajña arena, when animals were sacrificed, they were again given life by the potency of Vedic mantras. The word śipi-viṣṭāya appears in this verse. Śipi means "the flames of the sacrifice." In the sacrificial fire if the oblations are offered into the flames, then Lord Viṣṇu is situated there in the form of the flames. Therefore Lord Viṣṇu is known as Śipiviṣṭa.

2024.05.20 01:25 Old-Mathematician392 Proclamation on the Devourer of Widow's Houses [One Former Adherent's Response to the Current Official LDS Temple Recommend Questions Designed Evaluate Member Worthiness]

Proclamation on the Devourer of Widow's Houses
(One Former Adherent's Response to the Official LDS Temple Recommend Questions [See Infra.] for Evaluating Member Worthiness)
Introduction (Questions 1-3): Moral and ethical frameworks should be grounded in reason, evidence, and concern for human wellbeing rather than supernatural doctrines. A divine savior is an unnecessary concept, being a man-made construct rather than a requirement for moral and ethical living. The LDS church's assertion that it alone represents the "restoration" of true Christianity is an egregious example of religious arrogance and exclusion. There is no reasonable justification or straight-faced argument for the church to view itself as the sole bearer of divine truth, while dismissing the validity of all other Christian denominations. This stance is antithetical to the inclusive spirit of the Christian faith.
Subjugation (4a-c): The LDS church's veneration of its president and other leaders as "prophets, seers, and revelators" is nothing short of a cult of personality. These individuals have no more claim to divine authority than the leaders of any other organized religious institution, sect, or denomination. To demand unquestioning obedience to such figures is a gross abuse of power that undermines the fundamental principles of Christianity, freedom of thought, and conscience. The subjugation of fellow humans is wrong. Humanity deserves to live fearlessly free from imagined supernatural horrors, fears, and violent delights.
Sexual Control (and Trade) (5a-b): The LDS church's stringent moral code and "law of chastity" are not rooted in any universal ethical framework, but rather in arbitrary Puritan religious traditions that were hypocritically twisted in unconventional directions under the guise of freedom of religion. Reason, empathy, and a commitment to human wellbeing - not rigid, outdated strictures of a hypocritical sect - remain the best way to engage with one's neighbors and fellow human beings.
Loyalty Tests to Identify Disloyalty and Lack of Devotion (6-8): The LDS church's insistence that its members conform to a specific set of religious practices, from Sabbath observance to sacrament participation, is a clear example of religious coercion. There is no inherent moral or ethical imperative for individuals to submit to such demands, which have more to do with maintaining the church's power and influence than with upholding genuine Christian values.
Further Financial and Behavioral Tests (9-16):
A. Financial Requirements ("Tithing"): The LDS church's demand for members to be "full-tithe payers," paying 10% of their income to the church, is a far more stringent and intrusive financial obligation than what is typically seen in mainstream Christianity and Judaism. Most Judeo-Christian denominations do not conduct such invasive "worthiness" interviews delving into members' personal finances.
Moreover, many religious institutions, regardless of ideology, offer entry to their sacred spaces either freely or for a modest, fixed cost accessible to all. This is in stark contrast to the LDS church's model, which uses financial tithing as a gatekeeper to determine who is "worthy" enough to enter their temples.
This financial prerequisite for temple access is not only more extreme than most Judeo-Christian traditions, but it also represents a troubling prioritization of monetary contributions over genuine spiritual devotion or ethical conduct. The LDS church's fixation on tithing as a measure of worthiness is a clear deviation from the teachings of Jesus, who decried the hypocrisy of religious leaders who "devour widows' houses."
Furthermore, the LDS church's intrusive questioning about members' personal financial obligations and debts is a gross violation of privacy and an unwarranted overreach into individuals' private affairs. There is no legitimate ethical or spiritual justification for the church to demand such detailed financial disclosures as a condition of accessing its temples.
B. Clothing Requirements ("Garments"): The LDS church's mandate that members wear specific "temple garments" as a condition of temple access is far more restrictive and intrusive than the clothing norms of ordinary Christian denominations. This requirement, which dictates the most intimate details of members' attire, is more akin to the dogmatic dress codes found in the strictest, most authoritarian forms of religious observance, such as certain Islamic fundamentalist sects.
In contrast, mainstream Christian traditions place no such prescriptive demands on adherents' undergarments or personal clothing choices beyond general principles of modesty. The LDS church's insistence on this garment policy as a measure of "worthiness" represents an unwarranted intrusion into the personal autonomy of its members, departing significantly from the inclusive spirit exemplified by the teachings of Jesus and the broader Christian faith.
Conclusion: The LDS church's temple recommend questions reveal dangerously misguided and arrogant flaws of theology and practice. By imposing a narrow, exclusionary set of beliefs and requirements, the church strayed far from the inclusive, compassionate spirit of the Christian tradition it claims to represent. The LDS church's interpretation of Christianity is anti-Christian, erroneous, and unjustifiably and arbitrarily restrictive.
The church is not honest in its dealings with its fellow man or even its own membership.
The Devourer of Widow's Houses (aka The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), itself, is unworthy to enter the so-called sacred spaces built with the resources of its former adherents' ancestors. The LDS church should start putting people over profits.
--- Here, below, are the LDS temple recommend questions (some are compound so listed here with ignored official version of formatting):
(1-3) Do you have faith in and a testimony of God, the Eternal Father; His Son, Jesus Christ; and the Holy Ghost? Do you have a testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and of His role as your Savior and Redeemer?Do you have a testimony of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ?
(4a-c) Do you sustain the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the prophet, seer, and revelator and as the only person on the earth authorized to exercise all priesthood keys?Do you sustain the members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators? Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local leaders of the Church?
(5a-b) Do you strive for moral cleanliness in your thoughts and behavior? Do you obey the law of chastity?
(6-8) Do you follow the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ in your private and public behavior with members of your family and others? Do you support or promote any teachings, practices, or doctrine contrary to those of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?Do you strive to keep the Sabbath day holy, both at home and at church; attend your meetings; prepare for and worthily partake of the sacrament; and live your life in harmony with the laws and commandments of the gospel?
(9 - 16)
Do you strive to be honest in all that you do?
Are you a full-tithe payer?
Do you understand and obey the Word of Wisdom?
Do you have any financial or other obligations to a former spouse or to children? 12B. If yes, are you current in meeting those obligations?
Do you keep the covenants that you made in the temple?
Do you honor your sacred privilege to wear the garment as instructed in the initiatory ordinances?
Are there serious sins in your life that need to be resolved with priesthood authorities as part of your repentance?
Do you consider yourself worthy to enter the Lord's house and participate in temple ordinances?
TLDR: It's not THE worst predatory evil to preach to widows under color of supernatural authority that they must "pay to play" to ever see their late spouse again (during their most difficult times of grief), but it's probably in the top ten.
The LDS church's temple recommend questions reveal its theology and practices to be anti-Christian, excessively dogmatic, and unjustifiably exclusionary. The church's rigid requirements around beliefs, behavior, finances, and attire depart significantly from the inclusive spirit of mainstream Christianity, rendering the LDS institution anti-Christian. The L.D.S. theology offers its membership, and their children, a poison chalice. My dead adherent ancestors would be rolling in their graves at how The Devourer of Widow's houses has been misbehavin'. [Although my less recent 500 year dead British ancestors would be much less surprised] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-znj7Uf9Oo&t=4s

2024.05.20 01:14 AlphaBladeYiII [LES] It's hard letting go of a story or a universe that you used to love.

I'm going to go ahead and say it. I've grown bitter. And I don't know if it's me or the worlds I love.
For example, I became a Star Wars fan when I was 19 in 2016. Since then I've engaged with every aspect of the franchise: films, TV, Comics, books, games....you name it. I've found many, many stories in both the original EU and the New Canon to love. And one thing I noticed is that Star Wars as a franchise had its ebbs and flows over the years.
The Franchise kinda fizzled by the end of the 80s, but then the EU somewhat revived it in the 90s among die hard fans. Then the Prequels came along, and while they were highly divisive and criticized, there's no denying their financial success and cultural impact as they largely revived the Franchise among the general audience. Many kids were introduced to the saga through them, and they inspired a whole new wave of content for the Expanded Universe like the Clone Wars Multimedia Project.
And then The Clone Wars show came along. It wasn't initially well-received, but then became popular as it got better. However, many would say that the franchise wasn't in a good place by the time the sale came in. There were no movies, TCW wasn't exactly profitable and we were getting the Denningverse for post-RotJ books, a period that remains highly divisive. Stuff like Brian Wood's 2013 Star Wars comic also didn't help.
Then the Disney era came. And I personally divide it into two periods:
Then The Mandalorian came along and it felt great. It wasn't super deep or well-written, but it was fun and new and interesting and exciting. It was a low-stakes, bold new story in an era we were interested in. And it was nice to have the fandom united in liking it after the bitter discourse around the sequels.
2020 was pretty much the last decent year in my book. The comics relaunched to explore the post-TESB era, and the initial arcs were promising. The final season of TCW was mostly good, although a little disappointing. And Mando S2 was nice, with an amazing hype ending, although the cracks were starting to show as the series began connecting to other parts of the franchise.
The ebb from (2020-now): To me, this is an era marked by aggressive mediocrity. No films were made. Shows like *Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian S3 and Ahsoka....missed the mark for me and made me lose interest in the 'mandoverse' for a variety of reasons. I disliked Obi-Wan Kenobi overall. The Bad Batch was a good kids show, and a decent Star Wars story, but a step down from Rebels/late TCW in my book. The Tales of the Jedi/Empire were mildly entertaining nothing burgers for the most part, as they didn't have the room to tell stories and often ended up being too ambitious for their own good.
Even the comics took a sharp nosedive and became borderline unreadable for the most part thanks to MARVEL's milking and Charles Soule's mediocrity. And the books? Most of them were dedicated to The High Republic, an era that doesn't interest me because I don't care for any of the authors working on it. Andor was petty much the one bright light as a very good show that is probably the best of Star Wars live-action TV.
Looking to the upcoming slate, I'm shocked Andor season 2 is literally the only thing I'm interested in at the moment, and I certainly have no interest in The Acolyte or Rey's film or anything else. I've frankly grown bitter towards modern Lucasfilm. The post-RotJ era is poisoned because it leads to the sequels. The original heroes are generally neglected in every way that matters in new canon because Lucasfilm doesn't know what to do with them. Even The Mandoverse no longer interests me after mediocre entries.
Another example is The MCU, which I started watching in 2017. For a while, it was touted as everything Star Wars should've been. And like many, I felt that things went downhill after Endgame. I enjoyed many projects in phases 4/5 to various levels, mind you, and some I even thought were great. but there have been some entires that I actively disliked with intensity, while the Infinity Saga was meh at its weakest projects for me. Overall, It feels like there's little direction at the moment. And with my favorite heroes either gone or saddled with terrible sequels, I found myself losing interest in that verse as well. Spider-Man 4 and Daredevil: Born Again are pretty much the only projects I'm interested in at the moment.
Even in the comics, I realized that Spider-Man comics became a source of bitterness to me because of the post-OMD period. BND/Slott weren't for me because it was a direction I fundamentally resented. Spencer's run brought me back with a ray of hope, but it kept getting worse and the ending was terrible. Beyond was mediocre, and then....I don't really need to talk about the Wells run.
I realized that I need to probably let go of my favorite hero for good. Because the editorial is fundamentally against what I love about him. Even if the next run was serviceable, we'll probably get another Wells after it. Because these people thrive on rage bait and antagonizing a sizable portion of their audience.
Add all the horrible discourse online, where simply saying you're not interested in something can get stans to attack you, and I've grown beyond bitter. I realize that what used to bring me joy, no longer does. And it hurts.
Sorry for the "Dear Diary-esque" rant. I guess I needed to vent for some reason.

2024.05.20 00:52 Active_Parsnip_3074 Should I give up my green card? I'm from Taiwan.

I hold a degree from a university in Taiwan and previously worked as a software engineer in a Taiwanese bank before relocating to the United States. Currently aged 30, I obtained a Green Card through marriage to my American wife, enabling me to live and work here. Initially, I sought to experience life in the United States and meet my wife's family, whom I had never met despite being married for several years.
Upon our arrival, we initially lived with her family. However, I soon discovered their household was plagued by constant quarrels, escalating to the point where I feared for our safety, often considering contacting the authorities. Despite their non-white background, they displayed racist tendencies. Throughout my marriage, they persistently criticized me and advocated for our separation. Eventually, we relocated to another state to escape the toxic environment.
Despite the change in location, I encountered difficulties securing employment in the IT sector, which is highly competitive and demanding extensive experience even for entry-level roles. Despite a year of searching, opportunities in IT, or even basic technical support, have been scarce. Additionally, my wife, having endured prolonged emotional distress from her family, is battling severe depression, making it challenging for her to seek employment.
Consequently, I've been forced to accept low-skilled jobs to sustain our livelihoods. However, the soaring cost of living in the United States means our income barely covers basic necessities. This predicament has left me uncertain about my future in this country. At one point, I even contemplated joining the US military to gain a clear career path, but my parents vehemently opposed this idea, fearing discrimination and potential marital strain.
They urge me to endure our financial struggles for another two years, hoping I can transition to a higher-paying job during this time. They've also suggested considering a return to Taiwan after attaining citizenship. Given my circumstances, what course of action do you believe would be most advisable?

2024.05.20 00:43 CountryExternal2312 Do I still need documentation?

So I'm trying to write an aid appeal letter to request more money but the thing is every example that I came across stated that I needed some sort of documentation to prove that I am in need for more aid, but I don't have any, we have not been through anything that caused my family to have any financial problems, but I still need the money and my family won’t be able to help that much.
Would I still be able to receive aid even without document proof of some sort?
I hope this question makes sense.
FYI I’m a high school senior trying to get everything set before deciding what college to go too.
