Linksys Velop WHW03 v1, v2 and MX4200

2024.05.21 20:31 molvizar Linksys Velop WHW03 v1, v2 and MX4200

Hello everyone.
I have 14 devices like the ones indicated in the subject. In different locations and different networks.
It's a shame that good hardware quality is accompanied by very poor software.
Issues:
I don't know how to access support. In Spain there is no contact telephone number.
Please, I think these are easy things to fix. At least the following would be very useful:
Thank you.

2024.05.15 16:37 Nomsf Connection through router (both wifi and ethernet) delayed when first connecting to internet

Wondering if anyone can help with this small, but infurating issue.
With my Linksys mr8300 V1.1 in my appt, the initial connection to the internet is delayed by a good 10-20s. This is not just on startup, but everytime a new process tries to connect. ie. opening a new chrome window gives nothing until everything runs perfectly, even long after startup. This also aplies to all applications and across both wifi and ethernet. I know this is a router issue as plugging in my PC directly into the wall I get an instant connection, and my laptop only has the delay as well when connected to my wifi.
So far I have dissabled IPv6 to no avail. Besides that, all settings are stock.

2024.04.27 21:42 demonknightdk link aggregation between modem, router, and managed switch

Okay, so I want to run this by the community before I start trying to do it. I have a Nokia 5G21 Gateway from T-Mobile for home internet, it has two RJ-45 out ports, I also have a Linksys EA8300 v1.1 (I've been using this as my main routeWi-Fi access) with link aggregation support on two ports, I recently acquired a netgear GS418TPP managed switch that was being decommissioned from my work, It appears to support link aggregation as well, would it make any real difference to configure this or just keep going as a single connection switch (I'm asking, because I've run out of ports on the linksys and am wanting to setup a jellyfin server and TrueNAS to start archiving DVDs.)
current setup is 3 desktops and a printer. (I have a feeling it wouldn't make that much of difference, i'm only getting 80-100mbps download speed on average)

2024.04.27 18:58 ShadowWizard1 Can I upload a config from one device to another?

I currently have a Linksys EA7500 V1. It has been giving me issues, so I bought an Asus TUFF AX4200 that I am thinking about switching to. I have a lot of DHCP reservations set, some port forwards, etc. Can I just upload the config from one to the other if I switch? Or do I need to re-enter 70+ DHCP reservations again?

2024.04.26 06:17 The_Devnull Router Suddenly Asking For Sign In?!

I have a Linksys WRT1900AC V1 router running OpenWrt 21.02.3 which is secured with WPA2 and it's suddenly prompting for a sign in, which it shouldn't be. I clicked it anyway to see what it does and it brings me to a completely blank page instead of some kind of captive portal login. I've never set such an option, since I don't think it's necessary because I have WPA2 enabled. I'm able to connect to the local network and communicate with devices like my media center, etc. but, I can't connect to the internet...unless I'm connected to a VPN which seems to bypass the sign in it's prompting for, which is really weird. Don't know how this is happening because the WPA2 and router admin panel has very strong passwords that would take billions of years to crack. I'm thinking maybe I'm looking at a single upset event or corrupted data but, I don't know. I've looked around the settings and I can't find anything that would correspond with enabling or disabling such a setting. If there is no easy solution I'm just going to re-flash the firmware and reconfigure my network and passwords but, hopefully there is an easier solution that will save me from having to break out my programmer and re-configuring my network completely. Thanks.

2024.04.26 05:46 ShadowWizard1 Could the router I am using be the cause of my speed reduction?

I have a Linksys EA7500 V1 WiFi Router I just flashed to openwrt. I am using OpenWrt 23.05.0 (r23497-6637af95aa) which I think is the latest available. I have gigabit internet, and am getting about 300 down, 350 up. Before doing a bunch of troubleshooting on my network, I thought I would ask here first, to see if the router could be the issue. The troubleshooting I know how to do, just want to eliminate the router first.
The only other bit if information that may be relevant (Or may not be) is that I have a rather large subnet. I am using 10. 1. 1. 1./17 (Spaces added to avoid making it a link, so it my post doesn't get flagged) There are likely 70 devices on the network, but 95% of them are iot devices, so basically use no bandwidth.
I just thought I would ask in case anyone knew if issues with this router. Or if its just not powerful enough.
Thanks in advance.

2024.04.21 05:39 TheOtherNicoliDarkk OpenWRT, Linksys WRT1900ac, Google Wifi6 Pro

Ok so have tried to figure this out but I am at a loss on how to get it to work. I have a Linksys WRT1900ac V1 router with OpenWRT on it that I was using until I recently. I purchased the Google Wifi6 Pro because it has Wifi6 and I have a few devices that could benefit from the Wifi6. I had them in a double NAT configuration at the time. When I got Google Fiber I pulled the Linksys WRT1900ac and just used the Wifi6 Pro. The longer I used it the more frustrated I got. You can ONLY access the router interface via the Google Home app and it has to load all the devices so setting up static IPs is a pain. Normally this would be easy, I could set the Google Wifi6 Pro as a AP and that's it but since it is in mesh configuration I can't set the Google to AP mode without losing the mesh features.
So here is what I want to do. I want my Linksys Router to handle the DHCP of all the wired devices and the Google router to handle the DHCP of all wireless devices. I'd like the 3 ports in the Linksys router to be run to my 48 port switch and my servers and one port run to my Google Nest Wifi6 Pro and it can handle DHCP to my wireless devices but I want it basically "passthru" the router. I want to avoid double NAT if I can.
Which is the best way to address this issue? Should I plug the Google router into the Linksys and just deal with the double NAT? Should I setup a subnet and segment my network that way? Can I set it up the way I described using VLANs?
Thanks for any help. I am truly vexed...

2024.03.11 08:23 thegreatzombie Linksys LGS328C Firmware Issue

Recently purchased a Linksys LGS328C.
On FW v1.01.01.02 3/21/2022 (the only FW for this device):
  1. I can not enable HTTPS web management.
  2. I can enable SSH, but it's encryption suite is so outdated that current Win10 and BitVise SSH clients are unable to successfully establish a handshake or connect.
This leaves me with only insecure HTTP and TELNET connections to manage the switch.
Any assistance greatly appreciated!

2024.03.08 12:27 LitCast RT3200 - Important update/info

**ALSO APPLIES TO LINKSYS E8450**
if you plan on using a future openwrt 24.0 release or a current nightly snapshot, you'll NEED to read through this before you accidentally flash the update and brick your router, to prevent that from happening further, I've tried to compile most of the info in one place:
in a recently updated openwrt forum thread, some stuff specific to this common router changed and it's easy to brick the router using attendedsysupgrade, or by simply flashing a new snapshot or release *without first flashing the **updated installer.
(if coming from a 23.05.x/ 5.x kernel /old 1.0.3 UBI release, you'll need to force-flash the new 1.1.1 UBI installer through LuCi
if coming from stock belkin/linksys fw, just flash the new 1.1.1 installer + snapshot like you usually would )
(if your router is running fine already on 23.05.0/23.05.2, change your power scaling to Performance,it's set to Ondemand by default and that sometimes can cause a bl2 error on reboot.
in LuCi: System>Startup>Local Startup, add the following above "exit 0", also run it through ssh or luci-app-commands to apply it before the next boot:
echo performance > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling\_governor
most importantly: don't flash any new versions/snapshots or do any updates through LuCi/attendedsysupgrade UNTIL you force-flash the *Updated 1.1.1 installer, it moves FIP out of ram and into UBI to mitigate further boot errors)
here's what the RT3200 openwrt dev said in a recent openwrt commit:
" mediatek: mt7622: modernize Linksys E8450 / Belkin RT3200 UBI build Move fip and factory into UBI static volumes. Use fitblk instead of partition parser. !! RUN INSTALLER FIRST !! Existing users of previous OpenWrt releases or snapshot builds will have to **run the updated installer** before upgrading to firmware after this commit. DO NOT flash or run even just the initramfs image unless you have run the updated installer which moves the content of the 'factory' partition into a UBI volume. "
it's generally recommended not to update when using openwrt if it's stable enough for you, aside from bugs that might come with builds/updates, some routers (this one included) can only be rebooted a certain amount of times (i think it's in the thousands) before they straight up give out
it's fairly easy to recover a bricked RT3200 through serial now, using MTK_UARTBOOT (WCH-CH34X seems to be the preferred UART adapter), but it's better overall to avoid bricking it in the first place.
I'm currently running a recent snapshot (the one on the 1.1.1 release page) and I haven't run into any problems as of yet

Switching to performance shows less strain on the router overall

2024.02.26 17:24 Ok_Dress9497 Cannot connect to my router after updating firmware

Hello, I have two Linksys Wifi Extender RE6350.
Both of them came with firmware v1.0.03.003 and they were working perfectly with my router.
After I updated them to v1.0.04.001, now they won't connect to my router, they're useless now.
So I need to downgrade them again to v1.0.0.003, does anybody here have the corresponding file? Please I really need it, I've asked a couple times to Linksys support but the only thing they tell me is that the file is not available in the webpage anymore (which is obvious), and it is not recommended to downgrade bla bla bla.
At least in the previous version it was working, now I have 2 new pieces of junk that won't connect to my router

2024.01.10 21:35 NSFW-SF-Bay-MachoMan I installed Windows 98 Second Edition on my Toshiba Libretto 50CT!

I installed Windows 98 Second Edition on my Toshiba Libretto 50CT!

https://preview.redd.it/mqzo29djk1kc1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=48f1e4d6e5898704a3a5361e6200021c16d7bd0c
The Toshiba Libretto 50CT was the original sub-compact notebook to hit the market, with its Intel Pentium I 75MHz CPU, 16MB EDO DRAM (upgradable to 32MB EDO DRAM), 6.1" 640x480 pixel color display, a Toshiba PA2497U 10.8VDC 1200mAh battery (upgradable to a Toshiba high capacity PA2498U 10.8VDC 2400mAh battery), and a 16-Bit Type II PC Card Slot.
Note: Most of those tired old vintage notebook/laptop battery packs can be repaired/upgraded by cracking them open and spot-welding in new 3.7v lithium-ion cells, which have at least twice the capacity (1200mAh versus 2600mAh!). Cheap electronic spot-welders are available on the internet for less than $20.00.
The native operating system was Windows 95, all on an unusually thin 815MB 2.5" IDE 4200 rpm hard drive. Note: the OEM 815MB 2.5-inch hard drive has always been noisy when running, even when brand new, and in no way indicates that it's failing. It's just the nature of the beast.
So... I updated the BIOS to v6.60 04-07-1999, removed the OEM 815MB 2.5-inch hard drive, and replaced it with a CompactFlash Memory Card, plugged into a CompactFlash Memory Card-to-Laptop 2.5 44-Pin Male IDE Hard Disk Drive (CF-to-HDD Adapter).
Granted, the Toshiba Libretto 50CT just barely meets the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 98 SE, but installing a CompactFlash card, such as the Extreme® 32GB CompactFlash UDMA-7 Industrial-grade memory card, will run Windows 98 SE with ease on the Toshiba Libretto 50CT. The combination now works quite well as it functions as the equivalent of a 7200 rpm hard disk drive, in true IDE mode.
And using a LAN 16-Bit Type II PC Card I can readily access many text-only websites on the internet. But be sure to check out and bookmark Protoweb, per suggestion of another windows98 Reddit member, to view full-color archived websites... or better yet download and install the Protoweb proxy server.... and prepare to be amazed.
TOSHIBA LIBRETTO 50CT COMPATIBLE PERIPHERALS:
Sony FA-P1 External Floppy Disk Drive - PCMCIA Adapter
*** Plug and Play: The Sony PCMCIA floppy drive works with the Libretto without drivers, and automatically boots up as A: drive.
Toshiba PA2940U Libretto PCMCIA External 3.5" Floppy Drive
Toshiba Enhanced Port Replicator PA2718U
Toshiba IO Adapter CAB0346A
Linksys PCMPC100 EtherFast 10/100 PC Card with EtherFast 10/100 PC Card Media Coupledongle. The best driver: Intel 21140 based 10/100 mpbs Ethernet Controller (already included in Windows 98SE CD-ROM installation disk)
SiPix Pocket Printer A6: A thermal printer: Plugs into the serial port of the Toshiba Enhanced Port Replicator PA2718U, or the Toshiba IO Adapter CAB0346A
Only 16-bit Type II 5-volt PC Cards will work with the Toshiba Libretto 50CT
Note: Most 16-bit PCMCIA cards are 3.3-volt, and either don't work, or will overheat.
Epson PCMCIA PC Card ATA Adapter for CompactFlash card (4 GB+) works quite well.
The Epson PCMCIA adapter for CompactFlash Card shows up as D: drive, which is quite convenient for installing typical CD-ROM programs and viewing CD-ROM movies, etc..
WINDOWS 98 / TOSHIBA LIBRETTO 50CT COMPATIBLE SOFTWARE:
Note: The 75MHz CPU and graphics chipset severely limits games to MS-DOS only... but there again there are many excellent MS-DOS games out there that will run perfectly on the Toshiba Libretto 50CT.

2024.01.08 19:55 ScioperoLuna Help finding software for old security camera

Hi, a couple years ago I recieved two old Linksys Cisco WVC210 v1 Internet Cameras. Just recently I have been trying to set them up purely for fun and for my curiosity.
The issue I have ran into is that a certain piece of software is required to use these cameras, and I do not have the cd in which said software is provided in. I cannot seem to find the software anywhere online, including on Cisco's website. If anyone would know how I might obtain this software, I would be very grateful.
Thanks!

2023.12.11 04:13 mfabs09 Archer AXE95 extremely inconsistent with speeds

Hello all.....just bought a TPLink Archer AXE95 V1.6 wifi router for my place. Was using a Linksys Velop mesh wifi 5 system for the past 4-5 years but since moving, I didnt really need the mesh system anymore. Plus, it's always nice to upgrade to a new wifi generation. Unfortunately, my axe95 is showing very sporadic speed results. I have a 1000down/50up internet connection with a docsis 3.1 modem. I upgraded my internet plan to go with the new router. Previously, with the Linksys system, I could test that speed, which was 500 down at the time, at any time of the day or night throughout the year and I would get 500 plus/minus 10 mbps back no matter what. Now with the Archer system, I'll have a day where I easily get 950 down in the morning then 200 down in the evening. The next day, maybe 450 down in the morning and 600 in the evening. Gone through restarts and so on, and don't believe it has anything to do with congestion seeing that I've tested speeds during a week off when no one else is around and still get the crazy all over the place speeds. Wondering if I got a dud and should either return or reach out to TPLink support for maybe a replacement? I mean, I use YoutubeTV, and it will downgrade resolution randomly to 480p because the router speed is so up and down. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. My hardwired desktop shows the same performance anomalies.

Hi all, I updated the factory firmware on the router, now I have lost the option to setup as 'wireless bridge' & 'wireless repeater', instead I am left with only an option to change to 'bridge' mode (along with the DHCP, static IP, etc connections). Anyone else have a similar experience with this? After the firmware update, I have hard reset multiple times, no change.
