Hello everyone!
My friends and I have bought together the boradgame "Scythe". (Group of 5 people). We played now several games together and had alot of fun, but I just can't to seem to get enough points to win it. And I tink it has to do with my playstyle.
Before everything I should say also I wasn't able to play ALL factions yet. Still missing out invaders from afar factions and Russviet - player mats
1) Usually I'm trying first to get 5 workers for only losing power and nothing else. And if possible, reaching an encounter field. 2) Then I'm building up to get the first Mech (or second if encounter can give me one) to get out of the home territory and get mobility -either Rivercrossing or other ability depending on faction. 3) Then I play it very, very safe and mostly the same: - Increasing popularity and power as much as possible - Trying to get the Mech, Enlist, Power oand Upgrade star. Really heavy on the upgrade star - just preference. - Trying to find out wich combination can get the player mat use most effectivly.
Thins I avoid here are the following: - Avoiding combat if possible - Not going to the factory to early (except I'm Russviet or Northic). - Not spreading out, I keep it close to the home base for territory - Hording ressources (need them for building/upgrading stuff)
This works most of the time very well (depending on faction and player mat more or less), but then after the midgame, I mostly get outclassed by the others. They usually got their player mat running more effective, cover more territorry or have an aboundance on ressources.
Mostly I can't keep up then anymore and the only thing I came up with for the next time is to play more pro active and don't turtle up in and near my home base.
I know it's very dependable on who play which factions and what player mat they get (some work better with certain factions than others). But is there something I've been missing or can improve?

2024.05.17 09:22 ClerksII Does my Grandma have undiagnosed ADD( HD) and could that explain why she’s so difficult?

My Grandmother is a Caucasian, 70 year old woman, no medication, probably between 4’11- and 5’1, about 160 lbs ( Not sure, she’s got thin arms and legs, and while her body isn’t thin, it’s not really heavyset. She has no problem with her mobility, maybe just slower walking, has a bad hip but refuses to take any medication of any kind for any reason, and is a HUGE chain smoker. Probably one or two packs a day. This would explain her infrequent but still noticeable, phlegmy cough from time to time.
I don’t know everything about her past but I know some: One of seven children, parents used to scream a lot, she used to cry in bed with her sister when it happened, told me she stayed away from home as much as she could, started smoking at about 12 years old, got pregnant with my dad at 15, became a mom at 16, by all accounts was the best mom ever, biking, reading, dancing, encouraging my dad to try new things, but still moved around a lot, and kept going from house to house, to trailer, etc.
When she was about early 20s, she met and married a guy who she later divorced because they had a kind of culture clash. I don’t remember exactly what he was, but he was very controlling of her, forbidding her to wear swimsuits, or going anywhere without him, and eventually he threatened her several times with knives and a hand around her neck. Never did anything but she was afraid of knives for a very long time afterwards.
She met my grandpa, and I guess things were fine until after she had my aunt. Sometime after she was away from home as much as she could by way of bingo.This led to her using what she could out of her own paychecks until she came after my grandpa’s, who let her. He sold stuff around the house and eventually asked people for money. Sometime after being married to my grandpa she randomly developed night terrors and sleepwalking. Full on waking up and screaming, full on walking outside and screaming. I guess it just stopped. Was controlling of my aunt, didn’t want her trying new foods, didn’t go out or do fun things with her like she did with my dad.
Nowadays it is well known that nobody wants to live with her, but she’s not like abusive or stealing. But here is what we have noticed:
Heavy chain smoker. It doesn’t look like she even finishes them, she goes like halfway, stops, lights a new one.
Can’t or won’t sit and watch a movie or show. Will start one, get up and do laundry, take care of the dog, check her phone, play on her phone, and will full on have a conversation with you or someone when she was the one who wanted to watch the movie.
Frequent gambler. We just went on a cruise to place she’s always wanted to go and she spent a good chunk either smoking or gambling.
Very annoyed with the smells or steam of foods to the point where she’ll complain or get up and move. My grandpa famously only had seafood twice while married to her and he loved seafood.
Very irritable if she goes a while without a cigarette. She was pretty rude in the airport.
Gets annoyed easily when starting to board or get off the plane. Will full on loudly complain about the heat or cold. Kept asking my dad to open window, close window, turn ac off, turn ac on. Whiny.
Restless, seems like she can’t sit still or focus on anything in a climate where she has to sit and be quiet. (Planes and shows)
Known to start fights about pretty much anything that she doesn’t like. It is all about her from the thermostat, the entertainment, the volume, food, etc very difficult to live with
Very dramatic. Complained she was so cold on an excursion she couldn’t move her leg, and then refused to see a doctor about a numb leg. Said she’d just take a shower and then was suddenly all better about an hour later when she was smoking. Never showered, shrugged it off by saying she’ll be all right.
Dramatic in a little kid version. Like when a two year old is confused or thinking, they’ll scratch their head, purse their lips. Like their mimicking confusion verbal cues? Like they’re thinking this is what we do when we’re confused so this is what I will do. She seems to react to things dramatically and like a second or two after a proper reaction time?
A dog barked and her whole body moved in startled matter. If she hates something she eats, she makes an audible grunt, forces a sad expression in her face, holds a napkin to her mouth, and will dramatically push the food away. It’s not just dramatic, for some reason it makes me think of a toddler going through the motions so to speak.
Will sometimes ask us questions and then immediately talk to someone else or walk away and do something.
Says she’s an introvert who doesn’t like talking to people, but actively makes a point to talk to people. Not in a rude way or anything, just likes talking to people. Not sure if that means anything but I’ve always noticed that. Why would you say you dont like talking to people if you actually do?
Has quit a few jobs for silly reasons, and made impulse buys, like a new car when she obviously can’t afford it. Even back when I was a kid, she was known to gamble nearly everything, and could never afford anything, even though she made decent money.
Loves to complain. Or she just complains a lot. Going out to eat with her is usually a nightmare unless we go out with her to an approved place.
My dad made a joke that she’s ADD and it got me thinking about everything. Can she have and have had undiagnosed ADD? Can symptoms of an ADD nature appear because of trauma? Can trauma beforehand affect symptoms of ADD?
Or maybe it’s undiagnosed anxiety or depression, but can those lead to restlessness or symptoms like ADD?
My great grandma once told my mom apologetically my grandma has always put herself first before anyone. But dad’s joke had made me wonder if there’s maybe overstimulation or…something?
I know you’re not psychic and I’m happy to give any extra info, but I wondered if a person can be horribly selfish if they have some kind of undiagnosed whatever.

2024.05.17 08:56 Obvious_Cell_1515 Halo: Master Chief Collection crashes while loading any gameplay mode

I recently bought the Halo MCC from steam on sale and that time I had windows and it worked perfectly without any problem at the low settings, smooth as can be. I have an Acer Aspire 3, i3 8th gen Intel, 4gb ram, integrated graphics.
Then I switched to linux mint, i downloaded steam allowed steam play or whatever that is for all titles, steam uses proton experimental for Halo MCC, overlay is off. The game boots properly no problem I get to the home screen I can navigate anywhere change any settings but the moment I start a campaign or a firefight, during the loading screen the laptop freezes and I have to force shut it down, twice Halo MCC quit itself.
Please help me out as it is one my favourite games and I cannot go to windows just to play it 🙏

I have a woman owned LLC that provides sales and services in the fire safety sector. Reseller's permit and business license are in order. I have an amazing work van that's all setup with equipment. I have a customer base.
The only thing missing is my physical health. This past month I've been through a lung infection and blood clot. I need to heal and I'm worried I will lose this.
I have a nice apartmentb, 2 very lovely cats and a home office (taxes) It's all I need for a fulfilling family I have. I'm not doing well physically. I'm selling my commuter car to keep the work van and bills paid that will only be a stop gap for a month or two. A sales advisor has settled a disability discrimination case against his former employer for £160,000.
Eamon Bowen took the case against his former employer Telefónica Ltd and was supported by the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland. The case was settled with no admission of liability.
O2 - the trading name of Telefónica Ltd in the UK - said it had apologised to Mr Bowen and that it was "pleased to have mutually reached a settlement".
Mr Bowen worked in an O2 shop for a number of years and was diagnosed with spondylolisthesis, a degenerative disc disease, in 2014.
The condition caused chronic pain, exhaustion, sleep and mobility issues which meant Mr Bowen had to take periods of sick leave. He worked from home during the pandemic. He returned to work in-store in June 2020 but his illness made his job difficult.
Mr Bowen was referred to occupational health who made recommendations aimed at helping him manage his job.
Mr Bowen said the recommendations were not implemented appropriately and he felt he had no option but to resign.
He left his job in November 2021. "I only ever wanted someone to take me seriously and when I landed with the Equality Commission they really did," he said.
Mr Bowen said the settlement highlights the importance of taking disabilities seriously. "I enjoyed my work, I loved my work, loved working," he added. "I stepped away from the role with a massive amount of regret - if the processes had been followed I would absolutely be in employment still."
When settling the case, Telefónica Ltd apologised to Eamon for "significant upset, distress and injury to feelings".
The company also agreed to work with the Equality Commission to review their policies, practices and procedures.
An O2 spokesperson said the company had a "broad and diverse workforce". "We have a range of measures in place to support employees who have a disability or specific needs, such as making layout changes for wheelchair users, hiring sign language interpreters for employees with hearing difficulties, and providing specialist equipment where appropriate," they added.
“We have apologised to Mr Bowen for any distress caused in this case, and we are pleased to have mutually reached a settlement.”
Geraldine McGahey, Chief Commissioner with the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland said: "It is essential that employers carefully consider all recommendations made by occupational health and communicate with the person with a disability to ensure they understand their needs.
"This case was settled for a significant amount of money and the company has lost an experienced employee."
Ms McGahey also said staff should be aware that workplaces have a legal requirement to consider reasonable adjustments.

The post-US CPI rally in risk failed to find follow-through, and the relief that was initially expressed has been partly pared back. European equity indices fell around 0.6%, with markets opening on their highs and after a slow bleed all session, saw price close on their respective lows. The S&P500 cash printed a new high of 5325 early in the cash session and like Europe saw somewhat of a buyer’s strike, with the sellers winning out all through the day, with the index closing below 5300.
54% of S&P500 stocks closed higher, with all sectors, bar consumer staples, closing in the red, where we see consumer discretionary as the weak link - led lower by Amazon which looks to test the $180 level in the near term.

The Dow did breach the 40k level to modest fanfare, but couldn’t hold the figure, closing -0.1% at 39,869. Disappointing price action for those who bought into the move after US CPI and saw the risk for a continued push and hold above the big figure.
US data came in thick and fast, but was mostly tier 2 in nature, with housing starts, building permits, and industrial production out, amid a handful of Fed speakers which offered little to worry traders. There was a focus on US weekly jobless claims which fell to 222k (from 231k last week), with some saying this was impacted by school spring break. Either way, we’ve seen bond traders reengage with short positions, where, notably, we’ve seen the 2-year Treasury push 7bp higher to 4.79%, and a degree of rate cuts being priced out by December. The impact of higher rates and bond yields has curbed the move lower in the USD, and the DXY sits up 0.2%, although the percentage changes in G10 FX have been subdued.
EURUSD did try and kick after the run into 1.0886 post-US CPI, but despite pushing to 1.0895 in Asia trade yesterday, has followed US equity lower with price now at 1.0868. AUDUSD has been well traded, with good two-way flows post-Aussie employment, and we see clear indecision in the price action. AUD bulls have not given up despite the rates market removing its skew towards hikes later this year, and we now see cuts expressed for the November and December meetings. AUDCHF longs continue to work, and the bull trend remains intact – I like this further higher, as I do AUDJPY, which has seen solid demand into 103 and could push through 104 in the near term. USDJPY also saw big demand in the move into 154, and should we see price break above 155.54 today, I would be jumping on for 156+.
In commodity markets, gold has struggled to push into $2400 and has been impacted by the moves in US yields and USD flows – price sits at $2376, so we’ve seen no real liquidation of longs, but the bulls have simply failed to see a new catalyst. Crude sits +0.8%, and copper -1%.
Asia equity looks set for a soggy start, with the NKY225 eyed to open -1%, and the ASX200 -0.5%, so those positioned in the AUS200 index for the all-time high of 7910 (set on 2 April) to be tested, may have to wait until next week. The focus will be on whether the buyer’s step and support opening weakness, or whether we see a similar move as EU/US equities, where the buyers stay clear and the market grinds lower through the day.

The HK50 is the outlier here, and futures suggest the HK cash market opens 1.1% higher – after signs were growing of a retracement after the strong rally that started on 19 April, with talk of international money managers witching back towards US equity, it’s clear that isn’t the case and the HK50 looks strong as any play and is the momentum powerhouse – 20k is the near-term target, with Alibaba and Tencent on a tear and the banks and developers also supporting.

China data will be closely watched and could impact the tape in the HK50 and mainland CSI300 markets – the monthly data deluge of new and used home prices, industrial production, retail sale and fixed asset investment is in focus – as is property investment data. Elsewhere the event risk is on the light side, with EU CPI (due 19:00 AEST) although this is a revision, and economists aren’t expecting a change from the current run rate of 2.4% on headline and 2.7% on core CPI. The US leading index shouldn’t move markets.

Why:

We have allowed rich investors to buy up homes and convert them to rentals
All the jobs are artificially concentrated in big cities, so we are forced to live there, and this is by the design of those investors
The family unit has been destroyed, so the demand has been doubled, also by the design of the same investors
Related to this, women have been manipulated by the investors to think that they should work, so labor became cheap due to increased supply, which contributed to rising inflation, including home prices
We have open borders, allowing migrants to come in droves and compete for the limited inventory, also providing more cheap labor to the same investors. Even legal immigration is a big factor here

How to fix:

Do not rent vacation homes. You are literally helping rich people buy up second and third homes with your own money
Stay at your parents' home until you can afford to purchase your own home. And if you're a parent, allow your adult kids to stay with you until they can purchase their own homes instead of renting
Do not get divorced. Split couples double the demand for housing
Do not purchase a home with these inflated prices, it's a scam
Realize that everyone and their brother wants to be a real estate investor, and that it's not really a great idea to follow the herd, especially at these astronomical prices
Move somewhere cheaper where you can afford to purchase a home instead of renting
Buy a piece of land and put a mobile home there or build a home, instead of renting. Every house added will help with the inventory issues
You might think that pressuring politicians to fix immigration and to stop investors from buying up homes will work, but it won't. Politicians are bought and sold for. - And guess who has the money to do that. The situation we're in is not a coincidence.

As you can see, the common theme of the fix is to avoid buying homes with inflated prices, or renting homes at all. Of course, none of this is easy, or even practical in some cases, except the point about vacation homes. They need to die.

Eventually the problem is going to fix itself. People can no longer afford to get married or have kids, mainly due to housing. Our population will start shrinking, and that's a good thing. Do not believe otherwise. Yeah it's a crisis for the ultra rich, but for most of us it's good news.

I am optimistic. I see a future where rental homes sit vacant and their values plummet, hopefully forcing many owners to sell or go underwater. It's coming. But we have to understand the game and refuse to play it.

I had a T480 for the longest time (and it is still chugging along as it's my sister's current laptop) before I updated to a Dell 7430, so, yeah, I'm well aware of the build quality on the T series, however I have 0 experience with the E series.
I know the T14 has better specs, but I'm not sure my sister will actually need that much horse power (I'm not going to downgrade the specs because they are currently dirt cheap, so I might as well along with it).
My budget is USD 1,050, but if I can save some bucks and my sister will not notice much of a change from going with the E14 instead of the T14... Well, I'd prefer that, however if the price difference means a significant downgrade in quality... Well, I might as well just buy the T14.
Edit: Please try to remember that prices outside of the US are usually higher, so, the prices of both models are actually decent compared to their usual pricing.

I(17M) am from India. While growing up I don't have any siblings. So my cousin (24M) was like my older brother,best friend when I was 5-6. I still remember at the summer break, we go to our grandparents house and play all day. He will stay awake all night till I reach our grandparents house at late night. I used to be very happy when I goto my school by wearing his old clothes. It's a kinda proud feeling. His father and my father are brothers, they are total of 3. While growing up he is kinda my trusted adult. I don't really have friends so I only had him. Even he has a younger sister but he likes to be with me at that time. But things started changing from here. He got into iit(it's a top most prestigious university in India) and I don't know what it was at that time. Cuz I was only 9-10 y/o ig. When I was 11 years old their parents invited me to visit them in the summer break. They live in Hyderabad(One of the biggest cities in India). So me and my granny visited them. I made some friends their and used to play with them all day. At this time he was not in his house cuz he was at the university. The next year when I was 12 I visited them again for the summer holidays. This time my cousin was there and I was so excited to meet him. I was amazed to see him with all the beard and mustache. I straight up went to him and hug him, he just pushed me back and just left the house without even talking to me. I was like okay he might be going out let's talk to him later. When he came house back, I went and sat beside him to talk but his replies are yeah, aa, ok. And he just went into his room and locked the door. I was sad. The same thing happened the whole summer. Then I didn't wanted to visit them again. I was so pissed on his behavior. I just didn't care him anymore. The next summer break when I was 13 they invited me again, but this time I ain't going again. But granny forced me, let's go I wanna see him(my cousin) and I just accepted to go. But at this point I dunno what did I do wrong, their who family started treating me like sht(except my cousin sis), After reaching my home I just told my mom I'm never going back to visit them ever again. I explained what happened and they seems not to care about it. My father straight up told me I must have done something so they are behaving like that. I was angry on my dad for that statement. At this point or a year after he got placed in a company and earning for $60k/year(This is alot of money in India) now all my parents and relatives started comparing us both. And told me I should take him as inspiration bla bla bla. Last year he bought his first house in hyderabad with his money(ig he took a loan) and bought a house for $10k(really alot of money in India). In India since we are hindus if you buy a house then they will do a ritual/ceremony stuff. Last year on may 20th this thing was organised. And my parents are going but i didn't wanted to go. I told them you can go I'm not coming, but they forced me to go with them. After going their the same shtty treatment again from him. And on ceremony day I was bullied by his dad for not getting a seat in iit and the relatives are mocking and bothering me. But my parents didn't give a sht about it. The ceremony started at 4am, I didn't have enough sleep so I just slept on the bed in the bedroom. Here comes my cousin shouting why am I sleeping on the bed. It's new and doesn't have any sheets and I'm making it dirty. And asked me to sleep on the flooon the chair. But after a while everyone gathered in the bedroom and he was quite. All my relatives are sitting on the same bed and he said nothing. And after I slept on the chair one of this old friend showed up with his family. He just pushed me from the chair and gave them the chair to sit. It's 9am so I just didn't care and was going to have breakfast and he then told me go get some breakfast for his friend. I said no I'm no doing it. My father heard me saying that and scolded me saying "who tf think you are go and serve the guests", I did what they asked me to do. And when I went to eat there was no breakfast. Everything was finished. At this point Im fcking angry but helpless, I don't own any mobile phone and I just use mom's phone it was at <10% charge. So I just grabbed my charger and plugged it, within 10 seconds his friend asked he wanna charge his phone despite having a fcking powerbank. My brother unplugged mine and charged his mobile. I said my phone is about to die and explained that guy got a powerbank, but my cousin didn't listen to me. I tried in the remaining rooms but the electricity was not completely working so I couldn't charge the phone and it's dead. I just left the house sat outside the house wishing I didn't go there in the first place and started to think what did I do that made him hate me this much. I was crying with the sweet memories me and my cousin shared. Later in the evening I just left them and started going back to my home. On the way my parents are talking about the house but, my father was angry because my behavior isn't good. Its a 12hrs train journey after reaching the home I just stopped thinking about it. And in September 2023 month, one of my other cousin sis was getting married. She was the daughter of my father's another brother. I didn't wanted go there either, but my granny convinced me and I went there. I didn't talked to him at all. He didn't bothered about me either and I felt like I'm a complete stranger in my fucking cousin's marriage. That's the last time I saw him. I realised he got alot of hate on me but for what reason. My mom told me I didn't talked to him at all to my dad, my dad is angry again saying good relations are important. I should maintain good relations with all my cousins. I straight up told on my dad's face he isn't any relation to me. I'm not going to see his face ever again in my life. Talking is the secondary thing. I fucking hate that guy he ain't any brother to me anymore. My father slapped me on the face. All this thing happened months ago, but I just wanted to share it.

Hi fellas, I'm here asking; Do I have an Entitled Mother? Fair warning, this does turn into a vent. Also, I'm on mobile.
First things first, She pushes me to go to university for a redundant course that I can genuinely learn everything about outside of University (and avoid over 10k+ of debt by doing so). I had applied, believing I wouldn't get in because of my poor grades at high school, but holy shit, I managed to get in the course. I tried going, and I enjoyed it, but I became so violently ill after a few days that I had to stop. My mom followed this up by telling me that she's extremely disappointed, and that I stole a spot that someone else could have taken. She continued to insult me about this, and still is months later. In hindsight, I should have told her no from the start, but it's hard when everyone you look up to tells you that "this is your destiny".
Second of all, ever since I left school, she's been on me about my appearance and my room. She says that I need to shave my legs, go on birth control for my acne, that I need to use make-up, ect, ect. I used to be so body-positive back then, but now I feel gross about myself. She says I need to eat? Fine. I get a second helping of dinner. Then she backtracks and says "oh you're eating too much. You're going to get fat." I get concerned when I have complications related to birth control, but she still insists I need it. I stopped taking it, and she berated me for this. When I bought my (now ex) boyfriend over for the first time and I was talking to him, she sat herself across from us. Then, totally unprompted, told him how my room was disgusting, how I was disgusting, and tore into me while we sat there, dumbfounded. The reason why he's an ex is a totally different story.
Third, and the main reason I'm writing this, is that she does not care when I'm ill. The best example of this was recently, when I was genuinely so ill and pained, I could not do anything. I was so weak, and she didn't care. She told me that I was making her late for work (Context: we had shifts starting around the same time) and that I needed to "get off of [my] ass and get ready". She saw me crying my eyes out, clutching my stomach, and started yelling at me more; "You need ot get dressed now!" "You need to go to work!" "If you go to work, and they see you're ill, They'll send you home and atleast you tried!". She didn't even seem remotely concerned that I was crying, curled up and in pain. Eventually, she did go without me, and I contacted work that I was unable to come in. Now talking about this today, she said that I was "A little shit" for being ill. When I tried to explain that I would be interacting with customers, she still said that I was in the wrong.
Now, sorry for switching up the format, but I don't know how else to show this conversation taking fold. Me = Me, Mom = mom.
Me: "I'm sorry, but I was not being a little shit that day. Infact, I thought I was being responsible by staying home while ill. I do not want anyone else getting sick because of me." Mom: "Oh really? You were only doing shelf stocking that day. You could have gone." Me: "Yes, and I would be handling items that customers would be coming in contact with. Are you saying that you don't care if I'm touching products around the store, that people will be purchasing, while I was ill, just because I'm not on registers?" Mom: "Yes, I am."
I had to go to my room after she said that, because that genuinely sounded so entitled to me. Now I'm sitting here, typing this out. Now the question remains; Do I have an entitled mother or am I just a little shit?
If I am a little shit, I would like some advice how to not be, thanks.

Condition - The Rat 1 blade is off center, but it doesn’t rub the liner. But only by a gnat’s hair, a note card can be passed between the blade and liner. The action is good without any bladeplay and solid lockup. The Rat 2 is nuts centered and a smooth action and great lockup. I changed out the pivot on the Rat 1 thinking it may correct the centering, but it didn’t and I’m giving up on the project. Both knives have original hardware and were disassembled to install aftermarket scales and hardware on the Rat 1. Rat 1 includeds additional hardware of pivot’s, screws, standoffs, washers, clips. Original scales are included with both knives, and they are currently wearing Micarta scales form Way of Knives, with a additional Micarta scale from WOK included for the Rat 1. Rat 2 includes the box, unfortunately the box for the Rat 2 is long gone. Also worthy of mention the Rat 1 has been used and shows signs of use like snail trails, scuffs, etc., The Rat 2 has been carried in the pocket for a few days but never used to cut.
