2024.05.17 09:52 Aydn_Walkway Mall of Mayhem: A Monster of the Week game. (MotW)(Thurs)(6:00pm)(CDT) (Online)(3/4)
A staticky 90s looking video camera tape is put in and begins playing on a small TV, you see a pair of tan hands and hear a young 20 something year old man and a home made video documentary begins
After the appearance of this large monolithic structure that appeared in the middle of America causing a large military state to form on the borders around the large 'Mall'. On the first day and every 30 days since a message plays" {This is the Mall of the Multiverse! Made for all mages and magic users alike to come shop and par take in the vast libraries and research facilities... And then it glitches showing a man in a purple cloak, that was the belief of the 8 fools who wasted their magic abilities on a waste of philanthropic trash like this, I Alphonse the Manipulation Mage Extraordinar have turned this into the magic engine it was always made to be, now come on in the lower levels are safe buy away and have a good time and if you want.... Find and kill me and this dangerous monster factory will cease to be and the beasts it releases will cause you no more casualties.} I'm taking video of this because I believe we need to document and understand what's going on here and not let the government lock it up and keep us out, if we all work together and make it high enough we'll find Alphonse and we can take this Mall down.
All that to say this is a monster of the week game that will follow a party of explorers who wish to take out the Mad Manipulator. As the Mall was connected to a fantasy realm before ending up in the moral modern day there are many fantasy races around as well so those are on the table, if you want any abilities based on a fantasy monster race, you will have to take the Monsteras Sheet.
The vibes and aesthetics are that of the late 90s and early 2000s as the Mall appeared in the early 90s and slowed the world's progress as many things we're destroyed and had to be rebuilt. The Mall has a very normal with a fantasy lean look on the first 5 floors but after that it begins devolving into a dungeon looking space and beyond that it gets very liminal and BackRooms-esce with one one or two highly dangerous enemies but a large space to hide and seek through.
I'm looking for a party of 4 to play biweekly at the time and day listed in the title. If you're interested just message me on here with a character concept and a a short bio about yourself and your experience with MotW.
The session 0 will be on the 16th of May at the same time as the games scheduled.

2024.05.17 09:49 Babybarks *important gamersups announcement*
Yes, I am aware this may not be worth anyones time...bear with me. Especislly you you BIG Texas GUY! Actin all big. Acting all smug! Hiding in the Alamo like most Texans do... living it up with your 5lb bag of tofu jerky, like the soy boy really are... deep inside. Yea, you probably bought that shit with the money you claim to not spend on Jack Daniels HONEY!
I KNOW BETTER! I know what you're really up to with that last 5$
Better known by you as 4.60 euro. Since your so in love with acting like a French PRINCE!
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU PUT ME THROUGH!
Go ahead, convert that back to 5 USD like a real BIG GUY! AND WHAT DO YOU GET!
YOU GET NOTHIN!
Or atleast thats what you, and the so called customer service that my fiance never contacted thinks! Yea. I bet your like maybe if you did, but ive had enough of what if... You caffine covered RAT! If thats what you even claim to be! Who knows!
Its been nearly two years, schlatt. (Thats right amongst all of the capitalization I [capitalized!] Chose to lower case your name and will from here on out!) Anytime I listen to you. WHICH I USUALLY DONT MIND DOING! However, thats starting to change! Ya wana know why?
Its not because all of the god damn dogs you've made too scared to serve MY country. I could make LIST schlatt. A list... numbering the things you find more important than me!
Its because almost two entire years have passed... and my fiance is still waiting for her sampler that she NEVER RECIEVED!
You know what i do most often schlatt.(god why can't I make your name smaller)
I WORK SCHLATT
With my regretful hands! I wake up, shower, and in that shower it's not so bad to hear you just act like you don't give a shit. But on the other side of that wall when I walk out is my fiance.
Do you know that all that good ass work juice you pump my heart leaks out all over my shitty wood floor right when she point it out.
She says,"Is that schlatt, I can't believe he did that to me!?" Anytime she hears your voice. She use to like you shlatt... Shes hot as shit covered in tattoos, beautiful smile... and you took her last 5 USD, the type of currency that we use here in America, and she invested in you schlatt. She wanted those samplers.
I hear about this roughly every other day since. She won't let it go. Why would you take her money. Why make her do this instead of talking to support? Why won't you, without being aware, reach out to ME personally and fix my little shower problem.
Do you know what it's like to come home after standing on a ladder all day just to have someone you consider to be a hero, a friend, a brother just repeatedly stomp on your loved ones bank account!? Not even sprinkle any dust in there?
I hate to say it but if you don't do something soon I may loose it all. We were willing, where were you when she needed you schlatt. Why do I have to hear this every time I try to listen to you. I'm trying to help you! I'm not even asking for a refund, I just need your advice... she doesn't see you the way she did schlatt... and I'm afraid she will never recover.
I will not be gratified by your response. I can continue to imagine you as some sort of dog stomping ghost if i need to. You have a responsiblity here. She WAS your fan. Can you help a helpess homie out with a solution here or what.
BECAUSE IF YOU CAN NOT I'M GOING TO HAVE TO SEE IF TUCKER OR TED HAVE ANY DUST FOR SALE!
IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT US TO DRINK. I see no other option. Bring her back, don't put Teds fucking dust in my mouth BRO! Just do something. Please! Before it's all over. I have four step children that are going to be drinking the dust off of these guys dude. Its just not right what you have done to me. Sometimes you can try your best and all you have is smog flavored dust. However, Tucker's has a rather robust high note. So idk may just have to drink his dust i guess... until i jump off a bridge into normal water. With no tits... no juice... no hope.
No hope guys! No hope and no dust!
I don't want to hear it again!

Have some helpful info as well since we're already at it. It always pays off to try and unlock as much of a campaign as possible. The higher level of upgrade farming node unlocked means less energy used meaning faster roster progression.
The following are some of the strongest choices for each campaign:
CAMPAIGN MVP's
Indomitus - Bellator, Isabella, Calgar
Indo mirror - Aleph-null, Anuphet
Octarius - Gibba, Snot
Oct mirror - Burchard, Godswyl
FoC - Angrax, Rotbone, Abraxas
FoC mirror - Thaddeus, Kut, Yarrick
Saim-hann - Calandis, Eldryon, Maugan Ra
Saim-hann mirror - Abraxas, Archimatos
I recommend focusing on Bellator aiming to get him to gold gear rank.
Many new players make the mistake of trying to upgrade lots of different chars at once. In this game it pays to focus on one at a time.
The reason Bellator is the best char to upgrade at the start is because his active will not only carry you through 3 different campaigns(Indom, FoCM, OctM) but also its very useful in every other content in the game.
A good Indom elite team would be: G1 Bellator (active 36+) S2 Certus S2 Varro
I recommend the last two members should be imperials from another campaign, will give you a headstart when it comes to doing there's. Since elite might still be a bit out of reach tho its not a priority yet. Feel free to ask me if you need anything else!

2024.05.17 09:38 AlpacasAnonymous25 Depressed boyfriend dumped me. Says I deserve better. Is this a real reason to dump someone?
As a depressed person, is this a legitimate reason youād dump someone? His father passed 6 months ago, he Lost his job 8 months ago. He bought me a ring in February and was going to propose. His mental health has been declining but Iāve been doing what I can to keep him functioning. Trying to get him to shower, eat dinner, complimenting him, doing the tell me 3 good things about your day, he sleeps until 4/5pm then is awake all night. He was against therapy but I finally got him to agree to it and heās on a waiting list. Heās now suicidal and telling me he wants to kill himself and started hurting himself but punching his legs very very hard. Heās had bruises on his legs for months and I think I know why now. He told me I deserve a better life with someone normal. Not a loser and he canāt give me what I deserve. He canāt give me marriage, kids, a home for a while and he said heās going to be bedridden for a long time. I told him I donāt care I want to help him but he said he has nothing left to give and thinks itās best for both of us. Is this a real reason someone depressed would dump you? Because they are feeling so worthless and are being selfless and want you to be happy? He is my happiness and my everything. I just canāt understand this. Can someone explain to me? Iām devastated

2024.05.17 09:21 Few-Independence3787 The job hunt process... why?
I just want to make a rant about job hunting so this may come off as a slightly unorganized rant.
Why the hell is it so damn hard to get a job? You go in person and they beat around the bush. You do it online every other thing either is a scam or ghosts you. Speaking of ghosting I hate when they said "we should get back to you on this or that day" then they never do. Last few jobs did this to me so it made me even more upset. You call or go in person and they act confused. One time I even went to a job at another city for an interview and they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about despite the guy saying come at 1:30pm for an interview at XYZ place (address). I show up dressed formally, nice dress shoes, haircut, paper copy of resume and all and for no reason. I even put my phone off silence and data on just to show them the interview message. So now I wasted my time and have to go all the way back to my home city.
I have a part time job already and they're not gonna give much more hours anyway and I'm just looking for something to do on different days, for a few days a week on evenings. Remote jobs I'm trying to seek as well but not having much success in that avenue. I can do the double-up grind jobwiseā trust. Last year I had two jobs at once and at one point I even had 30+ hours in each. So some weeks I was working around 60+ hours but it was temporary. I need some more money coming in so I can get paid on two different days, I would love if the other job was weekly as well. That is all I ask. I hate getting my hopes up and wasting my time.
"No one wants to work!" I dislike that saying. It's a crock of shit. We can also say that "no one wants to hire." See how much nonsense that also sounds. To not fully contradict myself I'll instead say that many jobs don't want to risk or take a chance and pass up on potential workers that may be good. Anyway it just feels like so many of these jobs really just be putting up listings for decoration. That or they are elaborate scams.

2024.05.17 09:17 mettwurstturkey AITAH for asking my wife to consider changing careers?
I'll start by saying we've been married for approximately 13 years, and most of that time has been great!
When I met my wife, she was already working as a flight attendant, and we always knew kids were in our future. A couple of years into our marriage, we decided to start trying and now have two amazing kids.
Fast forward, and sheās been back to flying for about three years now.
She works 50% of the time, flying anywhere from 4-7 days per month, mainly back to the US. She also has another part-time home office job where she works 20 hours a week. The hours are flexible, and she can split them up however she wants, working more some weeks and less when she's flying.
Our kids are 6 and 8 and are very active, including participating in competitive sports at a national level. We recently built a house and have a lot of friends with various activities planned each day/week.
Now, enough background and on to the point of the post.
We live in Germany, where there are robust employee protection rights, allowing one to call in sick up to 20 days for personal illness and 10 days per child. Recently, Iāve noticed sheās overwhelmed and stressed, often calling in sick to her flight attendant job mainly to avoid missing the kids' activities (especially the competitive sports).
My salary is OK but not great, considering the total hours worked (flight attendants only get paid when the plane is moving, not for the briefings conducted 4 hours before takeoff). However, her additional income helps with future retirement planning and other expenses.
I recently suggested she evaluate if she still enjoys flying. If not, I proposed she consider quitting and increasing her hours at her other job to about 30 hours a week. This way, she could handle more of our personal lives and the kids' needs (one of our kids has severe ADHD and requires regular attention). This change could provide a more stable environment for our kids and be financially beneficial since the salary is better at her side job. I also pointed out how often the kids say they miss her and ask why she has to fly. To be clear, I always support her by explaining to the kids that this is her job and some moms have jobs that require travel.
This is where she lost it.
She accused me of "trying to take away her happiness" and said that I "married her as a flight attendant." She said, "this is her dream job, and she's not quitting for anyone," basically accusing me of trying to take away her happiness. She also mentioned that "not everyone has to hate their job like you do." To clarify, I donāt hate my job; it fulfills me, but itās definitely not my dream job.
I tried to explain that people evolve, situations change, and what was practical 10 years ago may not be practical now.
I reminded her that I was a bartender when she met me, living a completely different lifestyle. I decided to get an office job with better pay and more stable hours in anticipation of our family life.
I explained that I really loved bartending, tending to guests, and building social relationships with people.
She then suggested I "go back to doing what I love." I tried explaining how itās not financially feasible (since the salary is approximately 70% lower) and that we wouldnāt be able to afford our house and current lifestyle.
This is where happiness became conditional. She listed all the things we wouldnāt be able to do if I took a pay cut and ended by saying, "but you can if you want to."
She knows my decision to take a happier role would cause financial discomfort for the entire family, leading to everyoneās unhappiness.
My question is, AITA for asking her to consider trading in her dream job for one that's more compatible with our high-demand lifestyle (where she could potentially earn more)?

2024.05.17 09:15 Pigik83 The Lab #51: APIs with Bearer Token
Hey folks! šāØ Starting a web scraping project and want to do it efficiently? Before you dive into the depths of the web, consider this nifty trick: look for an internal API on the website you're targeting. Why, you ask? It's simpler on both the server and the scraper, costs less effort and resources, and offers a more stable data flow. šš”
Now, you might bump into APIs that ask for a little handshake - like Bearer Tokens. š¤š No stress, let's break it down. You'll need to play detective with the network listener to grasp the authentication dance steps. Generating that token is key, involving a bit of sleuthing for the token string in API responses. Keep an eye out for clues like client_id, channel_id, grant_type, and refresh_token. šµļøāāļøš
Hereās how I tackle it: I march into the home page, pocket all the cookies (digital ones, sadly!), then sift through them to find a special string in the key cc-nx-g. Thatās my golden ticket to call the refresh token API. After reading its response, I secure the Bearer token and... voilĆ ! I'm all set to fetch the product list API with my token as my pass. šŖšļø
This approach has saved me loads of time and headaches, making my scrapers efficient and my data collection smoother. Give it a try on your next web scraping mission, and let the data roll in! Happy scraping! šš»

2024.05.17 09:15 Due_Acadia_2159 Life does not get any better
I'm sorry but if one more person gives me another "Things will get better" or "Just stay positive" I'm gonna fucking lose it. All throughout my childhood, teachers and other adults would see me and my situation and give me a bunch of fucking empty platitudes about how things will always get better, suffering never lasts etc etc. I'm sorry but what a fucking load of bullshit. There are so many people out there who have had even shittier lives than me who continuously get screwed over by life. And then they just die. That's it. Some people are just born to be the fucking punching bags of the universe and that's it. I know that these platitudes are technically correct but people only ever fucking use it to try and placate me into accepting things for the false hope that things will get better.
I'm 21 and my entire life people have been telling me stuff like this and I just can't pretend to believe it anymore. My parents were physically and emotionally abusive to me. They never taught me anything about life but expected me to know everything. They were extremely neglectful and left me home alone for hours with my 3 younger siblings when I was just 9 years old. My 2 older siblings can't take care of themselves and so I was the one helping everyone out with everything. I've been bullied relentlessly during elementary and middle school which has left me hating the way I look, walk, talk, everything. Even if I was good looking enough to date someone, I know that my parents would never allow me to because of our religion (theirs really helping out with my older sibling's 3 children in a very similar capacity as I had with my siblings while I was growing up. Somehow, they all can't seem to take me seriously even when they rely on me. I'm either being overdramatic or I'm bringing evil western values into our home.
I know it doesn't sound like it but I actually try every fucking day. Everyone sees me as this jovial, funny guy who is reliable and perseveres. But I know that it's all an act cuz if people knew about my life, they would either try to take advantage of me or push me away. And I get it. Trouble kind of happens to follow me no matter what and some of it is self-sabotage. There is always something going wrong in my life and it's driven so many people away from me. I've had multiple serious surgeries and a list of chronic health issues that I've dealt with my entire life. Every time I try to not let my past define me, something comes up to completely derail my life. For example, last year I suddenly had to take a semester off to get a brain shunt. I know and recognize that I have a role to play in all of this and it's why I've always tried so hard to fix myself. I'm just too much of a lost case for any of it to matter.
Right now I'm planning my escape from my family to fully focus on myself. I'm going to go no contact with my entire family by September. Whether I like it or not, this is going to permanently burn bridges with my family and I'm ready to accept that. To my siblings, I'm one stop shop for help. To my parents, I'm an investment that needs to get a high paying job to pay off my debt to them. I'm going to be alone in the world but that's not really anything new. Honestly, this is going to be my last attempt at life cuz I just fucking can't do this whole cycle of being hopeful for the future and then being disappointed by how fucked up life can be. I just can't do it anymore.
How can life get better for people like me who have only known suffering in their lives? All I seem to be capable of is spreading my suffering onto others. At least if I'm not around anymore, no one has to get hurt. No one needs to waste their time trying to help a lost cause. At least if I'm gone, my suffering will finally fucking end.

2024.05.17 09:02 alessoninrestraint Enough with the "is *enter title* an immsim?" questions
The above question is reductive, not useful, and leads to further misunderstandings on the definition of immsims.
An idea has been thrown around that immersive simulator is not a genre, but a set of principles that guide a game's design. This sentence makes little sense to a common gamer, but to a developer it makes all the difference. In short it means, that you can't say something is an immsim based purely on things like rpg systems, grid inventories, or sneaking mechanics. Rather, you have to start looking at the principles underneath the top layer:
- is the player experiencing a believable world, from a perspective that puts them in the shoes of the protagonist?
- do the systems the player has access to feel appropriate for the setting?
- does the game try its best to remove elements that feel "game-y"?
- does the game use the environment for story telling, rather than have force feed information to the player?
- does the game simulate systems that interact with one another, not just with the player? (light, sound, AI, physics, materials, elements)
- are these systems consistent, to the point where the player can plan their approach based on environmental details?
- is the player in control at all times?
- are there no fail states, except for player death?
Now from this list we can see that not even the games we consider to be immsims get everything right. There are always game-y elements, like player huds, experience points etc. But the main point is that the above points should still guide every aspect of a games development.
Thus, we should be thinking of this as a spectrum. Rather than asking "is X an immsim", we should be asking "in what ways does X follow immsim design principles?" or "what could immsim designers learn from X?". Likewise, when it comes to already established immsims, instead of blindly phraising them, we should openly discuss the ways they succeed, and fail as immsims.
I'll give a couple of examples:
- Prey (2017) fails to create an immersive inventory and hacking system
- System Shock Remake has one of the best examples of diegetic heads up displays I've ever seen in a video game
- Barely any immsim has tried to simulate sound in ways the original Thief games did, instead relying on abstract markers to show the locations of enemies
- Human Revolution having cutscenes harms the experience, from the immsim design point of view
- Cruelty Squad is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of immsims, but I find it refreshing how it simulates things not typically seen in the genre... such as a real time stock market
- Immsim designers could learn a lot from the A-Life system from Stalker
This sub is currently sliding into toxicity, and I feel it all boils down to people asking the wrong questions, and getting un-satisfactory answers. Because of the avalanche of new threads with similar content, I've found myself taking part in this toxicity, and it's not productive for me or anyone else.
I hope that this post clarifies some aspects of immsims, and that it would inspire more productive discussions to follow.

2024.05.17 08:58 RedSiren2 Parent's Day is full of woe (fanscript/fanepisode) (spoilers) (part 2)
Note: Eugene has wings in this fanepisode as well, that's still a theory - as is his mom's suffering a marriage crisis in season 2, based on a disagreement they may have over Eugene having been allowed to put himself in danger by the end of season 1 (don't worry, this theory also involves that they never actually divorce and reconcile at some point - and that there was far more to this argument than he thought, but that's saved for next chapter ;) Enjoy this one first :)
Cut to Vincent looking at a mural Xavier painted. Latter stands next to him, tapping his foot a little.
Vincent: Very nice. Though a little derivative of early Frida Kahlo, donāt you think?
Xavier: Why are you here?
Vincent: I did tell you itās parent day.
Xavier: You never show up for parent day. So ā¦ (has to fight to keep going) ā¦ so could we just get it over with?
Vincent: (looks at him, unfazed, but cool) Alright, letās cut the formalities.
He steps towards Xavier and fetches three little envelopes from the front pocket of his jacket. Xavier opens them ā itās flyers for other private schools. He freezes again.
Vincent: (pointing to one) This oneās in northern China. A rather militaristic school, but excellent teachers. And of course, Eton. (he points to another) You like black clothing now, I've heard.
Xavier: (stares at the flyers)
Vincent: Iāve sent your grades to each of them. Theyād be happy to take you. By tomorrow even.
Xavier: (looks at him, half angry)
Vincent: Youāre breaking school rules like an idiot. That is bothersome, Exavier. Very much so.
Xavier: (looks down at the flyers again, huffing a bit)
Vincent: Itās up to you. I donāt need you to be educated in America. But your friends do, right? And ā¦ (he leans over, looking at the flyers) ā¦ these arenāt the only schools on the list. And a few of them have rather insufficient internet.
Xavier looks at him, glaring, but not saying anything. Vincent observes him, completely unfazed still.
Vincent: Would you like to find out how many friends youād have left after a few months?
Xavier: (slightly huffs, still not saying anything)
Vincent: Have I made myself clear?
Xavier: (looks down, nodding)
Vincent: (smiles) Excellent. (he pats his shoulder and walks away, leaving him standing there and looking at the flyers in quiet anger)
Cut to Enidās parents sitting about. Her mother seems a little gloomy. Enid reaches them, her father smiling at her.
Enid: Sorry Iām late, I talked to Ajax momās.
Esther: Hm.
Enid: (notices her look) I ā¦ I may spend spring break with them soon.
Esther: (looks at her disapprovingly)
Enid: (meeting her look bravely) Theyād love to have me.
Esther: (after another moment of glaring) Arenāt you spending a little too much time with that boy?
Enid: (sighs) Why? Heās my boyfriend.
Esther: There are more important things.
Enid: (looking down) I spend enough time still with other people. You may have heard.
Esther: I have. (she puts down her food)
Enid: (sighing again) Mom listen ā I know itās school rules but ā¦ weāre not hurting anyone, the opposite even, and I-
Esther: I donāt care about school rules ā nothing should be in the way of a wolf, dear. But your companyā¦
Enid: (looks at her)
Esther: I talked to your wolf advisor. She said youāve started to spend your wolfed out nights not with the other wolves, but ā those other kids.
Enid: (chuckles bewildered) Other kids.
Esther: A fair bunch of weaklings, my dear. Runt of the litter, letās be honest.
Enid: (stares at her)
Esther: And itās nice that you care for them, but do that in your free time. (she leans forward) The full moon is for wolves. You need to bond with the pack.
Enid: I tried. Theyāre not for me.
Esther: (shakes her head a little at her) I donāt think you tried hard enough. Wolf nights arenāt times to be a chooser. Or difficult, Enid. You need to adjust to your position. Maybe thatās what you didnāt like.
Murray looks at his wife, uncomfortable.
Enid: I donāt like hierarchies, itās true.
Esther: (sighs) Just when I thought we were getting somewhere.
Enid glares at her, then looks into the middle distance for a moment, then down ā then starts chuckling.
Esther: What?
Enid: (smiles at her ā then gets up and walks away ā a few meters off, she turns) Wow. Sixteen years and you finally said something I can use.
They exchange a look, her motherās face changing a little while Enid seems near tears. Her father sighs, looking down. Enid looks at her mother defiantly, then stomps away.
Cut to the pond. Pugsley is sitting around all alone, staring at the water. He goes to fetch something from his bag and pulls out a grenade. He pulls the pin and throws it, but before it can reach the water, someone flies in and kicks it to the side, where it explodes. Pugsley stares at Eugene, who raises an eyebrow at him.
Eugene: Now thatās not very nice.
Puglsey: Wasnāt supposed to be?
Eugene: (chuckles) Soā¦ whatās a kid who wouldnāt chose boarding school over home doing here?
Puglsey: (stares at him)
Eugene: (flies over and sits down next to him, looking at him attentively)
Pugsley: (shrugs) I wasnāt in the mood for my parentās cheerfest for my sister today.
Eugene: Must be hard.
Pugsley: I can handle. One day Iāll show them all.
Eugene: (smiles a little at this, kinda getting it)
Pugsley: What about you?
Eugene: Me?
Pugsley: I may or may not have heard that your moms are about as insufferably loving as mine. So what brings?
Eugene: (sighs) I guess itās that ā¦ I may have to check who of the two is more loving or something soon ā¦
Pugsley: Rough.
Eugene: (shrugs) Itās fine. (quietly) Weāre like other families, right?
Pugsley: (looks at him for a long moment)
They sit in silence for another one, then he fetches something from his bag. Cut to Eugeneās face ā he flinches when he suddenly hears another grenade explosion nearby. He turns to Pugsley, who has thrown it.
Eugene: Dude! (holds his chest a little)
Pugsley: Explosions usually make me feel better.
Eugene: (stares at him ā then bursts into giggles)
Pugsley: (smirks)
Eugene: Youāre so like your sister.
Pugsleyās expression drops. He looks at him surprised - but not in a bad way.
Eugene: (shrugs) Little more fun maybe.
Pugsley stares at him with a little smile. Bewildered. Eugene wants to say something more, but in this moment, his mom calls him. He sighs, turning to them in the distance. Eugene sighs.
Eugene: Well, here goes. (he gets up)
Pugsley: Try not to fly into their faces.
Eugene: (chuckles, then walks down the dock) See ya, Pugs.
Pugsley: See yaā¦ (he looks at him, furrowing his brows) ... what was it again?
Eugene: (smirks, walking backwards) My friends call me U. (he points fingerguns at him, then does a half a backflip into the air and flies over to his moms. As he does, the camera cuts to his face ā he starts cringing at himself.)
Pugsley: (smiles, turns away again, staring back at the pond) U.

2024.05.17 08:56 anontemp234123 The Nothing Experience
So, I've had the Nothing Phone 2 and the Nothing Ear 2 for a while now. In my several months of use, the Nothing Phone 2 has been one of the worst phone experiences I've had.
I've been using Samsung phones for most of my life (I also used an iPhone 14), and looking for something more unique, I decided to try the Nothing Phone 2. In the past few months (half a year at this point), I have found the user experience to be one of the worst phones I have used.
- Incredibly buggy OS. Android is probably part of the problem as well. Still, the number of times when the phone completely shits itself is just incredible. I would use the fingerprint sensor or press the power button only to have an unresponsive screen showing the home screen with the fingerprint layout (Not the lock screen, the home screen). Media control could be better, with picture-in-picture and background play often a nightmare. The Glyph integration is just a joke at this point. It doesn't work most of the time, and when it does, it doesn't serve any purpose. The Glyph system is more a marketing gimmick than anything, and most users agree it's useless.
- Bluetooth. Even when using the Nothing Ear 2, a product in the same ecosystem as the Nothing Phone 2, it quite often takes a very long time to connect or doesn't connect until I try the connection several times. While you might say it's not much work, dealing with issues like this regularly, especially during a busy day, ruins the user experience. There is also an issue with volume control, where volume adjustment is far too drastic, even when absolute volume control is turned off in Android developer settings.
- Build quality and design. It's expected for the price point and can be avoided when using a case, but the phone's aluminum edges do nothing to protect it when it drops. The Nothing Ear 2 is of similar build quality, and the earphone case, while unique, is incredibly difficult to carry due to its shape and volume. Due to the square design, it is also only possible to open the lid from the correct side by looking, making it a hassle to open it in your pockets. The Nothing Phone 2 is quite big, making this a deal breaker for those with smaller hands. Trying to use the Nothing Phone 2 with one hand is quite difficult.
The best way to summarize the Nothing experience would be unique but pointless. If you are really invested in the aesthetics of your devices, it might be worth it, but I can't recommend the Nothing Phone 2 and Ear 2 to anyone looking for a quality product.
At the end of the day, this was based on my personal experience so please let me know if there are fixes for the problems listed above or anything I should know.

2024.05.17 08:54 handthatf33ds 29 [F4M] UK, EU and US longing.
Hey, hi, hello.
Iāve been posting on and off for a few years now and Iām sure some of you are sick of seeing me. Oh well, weāre in this sub for one reason and one reason only: to find a connection and possibly a happy ending.
Iāve been told Iām too picky and too open about myself; I donāt think Im either of these things. We all have different tastes and expectations from other people and thatās fine. And yes, I am very open about who I am, shouldnāt we all be? Would save us some disappointment.
I did try numerous dating sites and chatrooms but to no avail; those whove been in the same situation know whatās that like. I have a fair share of horror stories from dating apps and who knows, one day I could share these with you!!
Before I move onto the spiel about myself and how much of a catch I am please read below:
About you:
-living the UK/Europe/US (max of 6h time difference)
-a straight man
-a homebody, with the occasional want to go out and do things
-aged 29 ā 48 (I will not reply if youāre not within the age bracket)
-speak English (for communication purposes duh)
-child free (and must want to remain this way)
-MONOGAMOUS
-NO PREFERENCE HEIGHT OR BODY WISE, Iām all about a nice face
-impeccable basic personal hygiene (not expecting you smelling like your local perfume store)
-no addictions (ie excessive alcohol use, smoking and any type of illegal drugs)
-respectful, loyal, funny, affectionate, caring, loving and patient (a lot of it needed with me).
-will not demand any personal content (if you know what I eamn)
-in full time employment (if we are long distance, how else are you going to fund your travels?)
But beyond all that Iām after a best friend. Someone who will have my back until the end. Someone who will accept me for who I am and wouldnāt want to change me (I can offer the same back). Someone who will enter my life and assume the role of my partner (eventually) and join me on this rather bizarre journey called life. Donāt give up on me and I wont give up on you.
I will not respond to any messages along the lines of āhruā. āhiā.
Once again, no budging on the age or location.
If your profile contains anything inappropriate, I wonāt respond either.
I think I made myself more than clear.
Just one more thing, I promise!!!!
This is not to get any attention or sympathy or help; more of a prewarning. I have met a lot of amazing people on here who got their hopes up about me and once things didnāt seem to be as amazing as this image, they had of me they left.
I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 12, as well as severe anxiety (no self-diagnosis here, by an actual professional). I take meds for it but some days are worse than the others. Iām also on the waiting list to get help, but like me youāre in the UK youāll know what this is like (no issues with the NHS, theyāre amazing; just overworked and understaffed). I canāt afford to go privately. At this moment in time,I am about 2 years away from seeing someone.
I suffer from fibromyalgia (if you donāt know what this is, just google it) in late 2019 after ruling everything out. I have days when Iām extremely exhausted and in a lot of pain. I still go to work and try to go on about my life as much as possible but please bear that in mind.
Ive been taking all sorts of meds too, including painkillers to control the pain.
Please donāt see me as someone hopeless or feel sorry for me. This is not the point of this confession.
My name is Anita and Iām a 29yo Eastern European woman, living in the UK just outside of Bristol. Iāve been here for the last 17 years and I consider myself England my home. Iām not considering moving back at any point in my life (however Iāll move elsewhere for the right reasons and right person). I will share my exact location once weāre acquainted a bit more.
Iām 6ft tall (yes I am this tall and Iām aware that itās way too tall for a woman) and. weight approx 13st or 200lbs (my weight keeps fluctuating a lot and no, Iām not looking for any tips to lose weight). I dye my hair red but itās more like ginger these days. I have green eyes (theyāre useless as I wear glasses) and I wear a lot of black eyeliner lol. I guess you could say Iām kinda emo/goth?
An extreme introvert since I was a young one (definitely not shy, in fact I can get a bit volatile when it comes to standing up for myself). I donāt need to get out of my shell, so none of that please. I like my own company as well as my loved ones; and leaving the house only for work and groceries suits me well.
Iām a vegetarian (not a deal breaker if youāre not; your choice is to eat meat and mine isnāt. Respect it and you shall receive the same back). I think itās time for everyone live and let others live too.
Tea, coffee and snack addict! (I love herbal tea with no sugar or milk; coffee wise I like a good cap or a caramel macchiato as a treat. Snack wise anything goes really. Fruit, crisps, cake and sweets!)
Bookworm (I havenāt read in a long time, I love books I promise. Just havenāt had much time lately. I have a stack of them which is growing. I need to finally find some time and immerse myself in one of many crime novels I have).
Apolitical (now, I read the news everyday but I do not support any of the parties. They donāt care about you or me, sorry to break this to you).
Animal lover (I have 4 rescued cats two boys and two girls aged between 10-11 who are my absolute life. In total, my mum and I have rescued about 60 cats in the last 10 years. We found them safe and loving homes but for some of them unfortunately it was too late).
No addictions here (I donāt drink or smoke; although I like my vapes a lot).
In my spare time (whatever I get of it) I like to go for walks, listen to music and podcasts, nap, watch tv, chill with my mum and cats, go shopping and grab a coffee with my ma, visit my brother in London, over eat, over think and read books.
I donāt really have any hobbies.
I donāt game religiously but I do enjoy sims 4 (someone told me that isnāt gaming although Iād say itās a computer game so clues in the name but what do I know, right?) I donāt watch anime either, tried once and couldnāt get into it.
As you can tell, Iām just a relatively unremarkable human being, trying to find her place in this world. And Iām happy about that, being in the limelight is the last thing I know.
With that being said, if you managed to get through my ramblings and they somewhat resonated with you, shoot me a message.
Message me with your name, age and location and what caught your eye about my post. Donāt have to send me your picture right away; I wonāt send mine until Iām comfortable enough. To show that you have read, end your message with ātoodlepipā.
I will respond as soon as I can but please note that there might be delays in messaging back due to wellā¦ life being life I suppose.
And if you didnāt like what you readā¦ well then scroll along, no need to let me know about this in the comments or to message me to call me names. Itās nice to be nice.
Thank you for reading this and looking forward to seeing some messages. If not, best of luck in your search!!!

2024.05.17 08:44 XZCosmos1 Pre-Nursing Tips V2
Hi all UPN/Pre-Nursing people! I just wanted to write out some tips on how to look best on your NursingCAS applications for your goal starting semester. This is a pretty detailed guide with some good calculations to determine other scores beyond just the basic impaction score. This also provides some resources for your TEAs that I found most useful. This guide is directed towards those applying to SJSU especially those on the Pre-Nursing Track at SJSU.
Don't flop your first semester: It is true that the first semester of college has a learning curve, but it is still important that you stay focused and maintain a high GPA. For many this is the easiest semester, but don't be fooled English 1A or Chem30A/BIOL65 will bite you in the butt last second.
Aim for a high GPA not solely TEAs: As much as people brag about their TEAs scores a GPA at SJSU is much more important! If you have a 4.0 GPA and score lower on your TEAs you will have a way better shot at getting in. Take this for example: a person got 2 A- in 3 unit courses out of the big 8. This makes their cumulative GPA a 3.94 GPA. If this person applied to nursing against a person with a 4.0 this score is then doubled, for impaction. 8 compared to a 7.88. With 2 A-'s you now need to do better than 3.5% of whatever teas score the kid with a 4.0 got. Also keep in mind that SJSU already requires a 84% to even apply leaving a 16% playing field. If you get a 4.0 and a 84% a person with 3.94 needs to get a 87.5% on their teas!
- BE ADVISED EVERY SINGLE POINT COUNTS!
- Realistically you are okay and should not flip out with a 3.94 GPA to this is just being used as a clear example. Just remember that if you keep a high GPA that you are saving yourself a mental breakdown before taking a TEAs.
- Be sure to get the extra points as well if you know you don't have perfect stats. This will greatly improve your odds at getting in, especially for Fall applicants.
Don't rely on comparing stats to AllNurses: This is a hot take, but hear me out; 60 kids get into SJSUs nursing program and maybe 10 people post their stats on AllNurses. I am throwing no shade saying this, but these are the people that are for the most part going to get in. Some claim to have 4.0 GPAs, 98 TEAs, 2000hrs of Healthcare experience, and co-reqs done too. Obviously they are going to get in but, that spot is now taken from a person bringing it down to 59 others. It is nice to have a comparison to, but unless more people post on it people are going to have skewed to the right opinions. There are tons of applicants and there are different groups of people apply. The overachievers, the average, and the prayers. Most people are average and do not have the crazy stats these people have. There are some people that do post stats that are more relevant to compare to such as a 4.0 with an 88% or something like that. Again this is highballing and it is important to really dig deep into who got accepted when using this platform. A 92% TEAs is what even the pre-nursing advisors and these guys want you to drop the major. Do realize that if you have a lower GPA you will need a higher TEAs. Doing this calculation [20(4-(current GPA))*3] will tell you what you need in comparison to a 4.0 GPA.
- Here is an example with a 3.8GPA [20(4-3.8)*3] = [20(.2)*3] = 4*3 = 12, this means (excluding extra points), you need to score at least a 96% if a kid with a 4.0 got a 84% on their TEAs.
- For understanding the 20 comes from the calculation 10 (to make the solution a whole number) multiplied by 2 (because the GPA is multiplied by two in the impaction score calculation) and the 3 comes from the fact each .1 of a GPA equates to 3% of a persons TEAs score (1/30 = .033333*3 = .1). The 20 contains the multiplication factor of 2 already so we don't need to multiply 3 by 2 as well.
The minimum GPA and TEAs: Yes it is true that if you do have a pretty poor GPA (3.3-3.4) and don't have the TEAs to make up for it then it is probably unlikely you will get into the program. But, at this campus the stats are never posted for who gets in and during which semester. Recently SJSU raised their TEAs from a 78% all the way up to a required 84% which to me is crazy high! I assume this is to cut down the amount of applicants and in turn this makes the TEAs pretty irrelevant to the total stats. With only a 16% max gap, now any person who is able to apply to nursing must have at least that score making the GPA that much more important. If you have a 3.9 GPA and a 94 on your teas, a person with a 3.8 will still get outcompeted regardless of TEAs score. This is most likely why the GPA was lowered for nursing and is now a 3.3 instead the previous 3.4 because some kids may have done well in the GPA aspect and messed up their TEAs. Aim for a higher GPA but do realize that a lot of kids do manage to get really good GPAs that correlate with good TEAs scores. Get a good GPA, 3.8 and above is pretty good, a 3.9+ is quality work for both Fall and Spring semesters, and make sure to aim for higher than the TEAs threshold.Nursing advisors deter people from applying but, it is accurate that as of Fall 2024 that you have to be at the top to get in. Keep in mind that there are 500+ applicants and only 60 get in that is only 12% of the applicant pool. You need to aim for the 80th percentile at the minimum to be on the waitlist first round (beating 400 other applicants)
TEAs Test: Now I know I have talked a lot about the importance of the GPA, but regardless you still do want to do well on the TEAs. Your TEAs score, like I talked about above, is directly related to your GPA. If you got a lower GPA you need a high TEAs and if you got a high GPA you can slack on the TEAs score. If you have a low GPA this will make or break the odds of getting in and every 3% on the test you get a .1 point increase. Going against what I think everyone I have ever talked to has said, for me personally I say take the TEAs online, if that is still an option. Not only can you take the test literally whatever day you want, you can also take it at whatever time of that day you selected as long as a proctor is available. Some argue that the they test better when in a school environment and this is valid, but I also test better in those environments and I bombed my first TEAs due to nerves. When I took it online the only stressors were if the test were to crash or the proctor flagged my exam for no reason, but neither of those happened not even close. The low stress of being at home and taking the test when I wanted to allowed for much better results and comfort. You get to finish the sections when you want. If you think you are done and don't want to triple check your answers to save the brainpower for later sections you get that option. Take the test where you think you will test best though and take these words with a grain of salt. I just wanted to say that the TEAs online is the same content as it is in person and at the leisure of your home. Not many people talk about how the TEAs online is positive for some people!
Get the extra points if you can: The extra points are pretty easy to get at SJSU especially as commuters. Of course nobody can make themselves a first generation student, but if you are that is easy free points and congrats. No one has a clue what SJSU gives as a "bump" to an applicants score and it is honestly only there because everyones stats are so similar so they need more tie breakers. Granted, you will most likely want to win the tie breaker and in order to do you have to at least have all the co-reqs done. I want to be straight up and say I think the vast majority of students have these all completed prior to applying for the Fall because you have an extra semester (maybe not Spring idk). So make sure to have these all completed so you are not left behind and waste an attempt in the SJSU applicant pool(unless you have great stats t or have healthcare hrs instead then just apply). You only have 2 attempts at applying to nursing at SJSU so make them count. If you can, there is also the healthcare hours bump. This is a bump isn't achieved by all applicants and could help if you have lower stats. Keep in mind that this usually involves volunteer work once a week for 4hr shifts so you will be wherever you choose to stay for about 6 months (decent time commitment with school). I've heard that the healthcare hrs are pretty lenient about what exactly you did as long as it is part of the healthcare field and you can get it signed. Of course if you already have had a health job within 3 years this is a free point bump too!
Spring semester isn't as easy to get into as it once was: SJSU changed this policy. In 2023 only transfer students can apply for SJSU fall semester cohorts, no longer accepting post-bacs. Whereas spring semester cohorts will accept post-bacs and no longer accept transfer students. This means that Fall semester likely is getting more difficult to get into as all transfer students have to apply for the same cohort. It is believed that the School accepts a bunch of SJSU students and after the initial acceptance everyone on the waitlist is combined meaning more transfers will get in from the waitlist process as they may not have made the original cut with the SJSU students bump. This would also mean there are less opportunities for SJSU students to get in during the spring cohort as they battle against stronger transfer candidates. As for transfers, in Fall there are more opportunities to get in as more are accepted initally and through the waitlist process. For post-bacs the same process is in place but, since the top UPN students (because they were following the exact track) were picked out for Fall stats could be a little lower. Regardless, Fall semester cohorts I would assume have slightly higher impaction scores from all areas that are applying as most students took their time throughout all the courses and UPN program students are all expected to apply for Fall semester. Take this all with a grain of salt since again there are no exact numbers of all that get accepted as transfers and post-bacs and if these numbers have increased because of this change.
Remember your overall GPA prior to applying does matter: Your overall GPA does matter when applying for nursing at SJSU! When it comes to tiebreakers if everything is the same - the gpa, the teas, and the extra points - the school will look at overall GPAs to decide who gets in. So make sure to get good grades in that moral issues class freshman year because it will come back to haunt you if you don't get in because of it.
Don't Break down!: It is easy to read all of this and think that you are screwed, but it is important to remember that many people are in the exact same situation. We are not all getting 4.0s and 92s on our teas like our advisors tell us we need. Expect A-'s and a B+. No stats are published and nobody knows for sure what you need but the advisors say people get "mostly a's". Aim for the highest impaction score that you can get and don't slack on it because literally that is what is determining if you get in or not.
- As a SJSU student you have 2 opportunities to get in, once in Fall (a little more difficult as most SJSU students are on track so there are more of you) and Spring (a little easier just because there are less Pre-Nursing majors applying). So if you don't get in for the Fall and your stats are good, you have a great chance in the Spring
- PS if you do get declined for the Fall get all the extra bumps you can and if you still have one more TEAs opportunity, TAKE IT AGAIN! If you get waitlisted for Fall there is a really good chance you will get in for Spring as the people you were originally going against are gone.
Waitlist: If you get waitlisted it really is not the end of the world. Most schools send out acceptance letters in two waves one at the beginning/mid of April and at the end of April where people accept of decline their schools. SJSU keeps a long waitlist because a lot of people drop the school for more local schools/bigger name schools so never lose hope. I've heard stories of people being #70 on the waitlist and still getting in. (FYI you have to contact someone to check if you were waitlisted you will not get any notice of what is taking so long for your acceptance. only when you are on the waitlist can you contact staff about your placement. Staff will not tell you where you are if you are not emailed by Nursing that you are on the waitlist.)
- If you are immediately declined from the school, that means that currently they were unable to offer you a seat. However, this does not mean that you are out yet. The school has an original waitlist and if that gets ran though they create another backup waitlist in case more students drop in the summer. This contains around 12 more students and you could be apart of this group.
EXTRA Info:
- Nursing Apps open January 17th for Fall and August 17th for Spring and they both close on the 15th the following month
- If you are a current SJSU student you do not need to apply for SJSU again prior to applying
- However many units a course is will impact your GPA differently (more units means more of your GPA)
- You get about One Week to accept SJSU. SJSU is one of the latest schools to send out acceptance letters so be prepared to wait. 8 Weeks after the deadline is when acceptance letter should begin to roll out.
- Acceptances are sent out around April 10th for Fall and November 10th for Spring.
TEAs Studying TIPs:
- DM me if you want a google doc with TEAs information (it won't let me put it here) it provides, in my opinion, the best ways to study for the TEAs. For me personally I only received a 93.3 but, if I had realized how vital one of the sources before I took the test the next day, I would have performed even better! Please give this a look. If you dont want you I'll put the order of importance here without links
- 1 Quizlets, #2 the ATI website, #3 Miscellaneous Prep Tests (I provide links in the doc), #4 PocketPrep
Application Assistance:
- Submit all documents separate from each other
- The application pool is Not Rolling meaning you can apply at any time before the deadline and still not be penalized
- Whatever work experience you have will not change the size of the score bump i.e a hospital volunteer will get the same size bump as a person with a CNA.
- You also do not need any letters of recommendation and don't need to fill out any extra information on the NursingCAS website for SJSU specifically. They will not read any paragraphs that are not relevant to you getting accepted.
- AP credit does not affect the GPA it is solely for credit. If the AP course is not listed on your transcript then you must submit a form proving you passed the exam in the "other" section.
- Make sure that all your documents that need to be there are there and they will be seen and accounted for. Regardless of where you put the documents the will show up on the application.
- Download you application prior to submitting your application (they will let you do this after you finished all the documents uploading and are preparing to finalize). Look over everything to ensure it's all correct.
I know this whole process is stressful and pretty terrifying, but everyone has a chance. This is just what I have learned throughout the whole process and hopefully it will help others that have 0 clue what is going on. Although some of this may make it seem like you need to have crazy high stats I am just trying to say do your best. If SJSU ever posts the stats for accepted applicants this would a be a different story. This is a CSU so unfortunately this application does follow the "a single number means everything" this means your impaction score is who you are; not necessarily how well rounded you may be. Good luck to all future nursing applicants and congrats.
"Congratulations! This email is to inform you of your provisional acceptance to The Valley Foundation School of Nursing at San JosƩ State University" Fall
You can DM if you have any questions.

2024.05.17 08:30 presse_citron Which games are ACTUALLY playable with the first tier subscription?
On the Home of NVidia GeForce Now, there's a big list of games: I can play Diablo IV for example. But for other games (which are still among the list on the Home), I can't run them without getting a paywall.
Let's say I want to play "Transport Fever 2": when you click on some of them and click on "Play": it runs, launches the Steam home of the server and says: "error: no licence".... How can I say which games are ACTUALLY playable with the GeForce now subscription without paying extra on Steam (or Epic, Xbox etc...)?
Very confusing!
Initially, I thought the note under the title of the game: "To play the game, the PC digital version must be in your Steam/XBox etc.. library" marked the game I must pay in addition.
But it's false! For example, it's the same note which is under the title of Diablo IV...
Thanks!
