Just started Far Cry 5 for first time and game is fun and great! Far Cry 3 was the last Far Cry game I played, which I beat years ago, and played some of Blood Dragon, I do have lots of steam games and own all Far Cry games, just haven't had the time to play any of the them yet but Far Cry 5 is so good! Love the story and characters, and the companions, gameplay is good like always, theirs lots to do in the big map so it's pretty addicting haha, Still haven't started Far Cry 1, 2, Primal, 4, New Dawn, and 6 though... map and environments is pretty too! I do have Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and that game is breathtaking beautiful, it's like a Far Cry game too! lol

2024.06.01 11:40 -Applefreak6363- [25/M] - Wanna text and perhaps develop a friendship?

Heyo šŸ™‹šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø I'm interested in meeting new people, maybe you are too? If so, feel free to write to me and who knows, in the best case a friendship will develop :) What I should also note is that I would prefer it if you were a woman, simply because I get along better with women than with other men šŸ˜‚
To give you a rough idea of who I am and what I like, I'd better write a bit about myself.
My biggest hobby is definitely gaming, I've been playing games since I was 3-4 years old šŸ¤“ My favourite thing to do is playing single player games on the PS5, especially action RPGs, like all Fromsoftware titles. At the moment I'm also playing a lot of LoL with my best friend. I also have a Switch, just not too many games, mostly Pokemon, but I've spent a lot of hours on it. Oh and I bet nobody can beat me in Mario Kart šŸ
In addition to gaming, I also enjoy watching movies and series. Horror is the only genre I'm not the biggest fan of, although I'm often interested in the story of the movie. I've also watched one or two horror movies with friends, but to be honest, I've often held a pillow in front of my face šŸ˜‚ Apart from horror, I watch all sorts of things, my favourites in terms of movies are definitely Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, a lot of Disney films, Iron Man and a few more that I can't think of off the top of my head right now haha As far as series go, I watch things like Stranger Things, GoT, Brooklyn 99, Community, Avatar the last Airbender, the Mandalorian, Fallout, Lupin or Vox Machina :)
I've been reading a lot again for half a year and I'm currently working on the last Witcher book, The Lady of the Lake. Other than that, I've read Lord of the Rings and the Metro trilogy. And as soon as I've finished The Witcher, I want to read Dragon Ball again, the last time was a good 16-17 years ago, and then maybe Dune or The Hunger Games šŸ¤”
Apart from that, I study computer science, enjoy being outdoors and doing things with friends. I also love animals, my family has two dogs and three cats and I've been a vegetarian for almost 6 years šŸ˜„ I've been learning French via Duolingo every day for about 1 1/2 months, so if you happen to have Duolingo too, let me know and we can add each other šŸ™ŒšŸ¼ I also enjoy cooking and my favourite dish is and will probably always be pizza. I've made pizza myself so many times in my life that I can do it in my sleep (but it's not that difficult, I have to be honest, not like sushi, which I've also made 1-2 times šŸ±)
If you have similar interests and would like to write a bit, hit me up :D Ideally, you should live somewhere in Europe, because I'm from Germany myself and then it would be more convenient in terms of time. If you've read this far and wonā€™t write me, I'd still like to thank you for your perseverance and wish you a good day or a nice morning/evening :D

2024.06.01 10:54 Melodic-Okra-4358 The Dome Of Emptiness

The Dome Of Emptiness
A teenager named Alex wakes up from his coma on a bed. He is a 17 years old light skinned boy with honey blonde hair and blue eyes. He has been in a coma for a few months now. The last thing he remember are he got run over by a car while he is walking with his dog, Yumi. He is wondering if his dog survives or not and what happen to the person that ran him over. But put that aside, there is one thing that making him uncomfortable from the time he wakes up. He wasn't in a hospital ward, but in some kind of building with a dome as it's roof.
???: Ah, you awake...
The boy jolts in surprise as he heard a voice greeting him: Wh-who are you?
Dome Of Emptiness: I am The Dome Of Emptiness. Ruler of the multiverse.
Alex: ? what do you mean by that?
The Dome Of Emptiness: I am the one that create and control the multiverse and keeping it's balance from the other high dimensional being. Basically, I am a God.
Alex: A god? You're the god? How can I believe you?
The Dome Of Emptiness: Your existence is the proof. If I didn't bring you here, the author will never create this story. And you wouldn't even exist.
Alex: The author? Story? What do you mean?
The Dome Of Emptiness: You are living in a fictional world, Alex. The author is the one that created you.
Alex: So what are you saying is we live in a story that is created by the author. So that's mean you're also a creation of that author. That's also mean you're not a God, the author is and he could erase you if he wanted to. Am I right?
The Dome Of Emptiness: You are wrong. I already exists far before the time even exist. The author create this story because I'm exist, and my dimensionality is far higher than him. My existence is far more higher than him. My existence is infinitely far more higher than the infinite dimensions itself. Even if the author didn't create this story I am still exist. The author is just my avatar that I use to create this story.
Alex fell down to his knees and prostrate to the dome: I-I see... that's mean you are an absolute being... All hail The Dome Of Emptiness...
The Dome Of Emptiness: And now you will be under my protection. I will make your astral body and your mind become nonexistence, so that the other can't control your soul and they can't control your mind. And I will make your past cannot be erased by the author or the other higher dimensional being. Now, you can explore the infinite vast of the infinite Omniverse and met the other Omni-Gods while I will be watching you from here.

2024.06.01 09:44 InitialParty7391 Why does much media about Ā«harmony with natureĀ» include the killing of animals?

For example, Avatar (the last time I saw this was over a year ago, so I apologize for any inaccuracies).
In one scene, Jake kills or injures Pandoran animals and Neytiri tells him that this is wrong. But later in the film the Na'vi hunt animals and no one says anything about it.
Or another example, animated films from Studio Ghibli are often considered very environmentalist and nature-friendly, but in their latest film Boy and the Heron there is a disgusting scene where the characters catch a giant fish and cut it up to feed some spirits. It is shown in great detail how the entrails fall out of the fish, it is hard to look at it without shuddering.
And these are just two examples from popular media. What do you think about it?

Deception in video games: examining varieties of griefing
https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Victoria-Rubin/publication/258692768_Deception_in_video_games_Examining_varieties_of_griefing/links/0f31752fe4a740dccb000000/Deception-in-video-games-Examining-varieties-of-griefing.pdf
Crossposting audience: Even less than narcissism research, there is a huge dearth of research on denial, the last and arguably most disturbing and long-lasting arm of genocide. Similarly, denial is employed by serial killers and is a type of extreme psychological violence that decouples the system of language's sensemaking from its actual sensebacking isomorphism to reality, while still parasiting sensemaking's credit until the lie's energy final dies, revealing the true devastating truth and the double violence to what truth means itself in the wake of the crime. Some lies last for disturbingly long amounts of time, however, in a reactive and aggressive insistence on sheer social power. This subreddit aims to study that disturbing psychosis at the heart of denial.
Griefing is normalized antisocial behavior with the clear intention to cause grief to players. Self-reported instances are deception by scheming, luring, entrapment, pretense and verbal concealment in griefing acts
  1. The authors found self-reported instances of deception by scheming, luring, entrapment, pretense and verbal concealment in griefing acts. The interview respondents, as predominantly victims of griefs, do not think of griefing (or may not be aware of it) as an act of deception and primarily associate it with harassment (inciting emotional reactions) or power imposition (exerting superiority)
Refusing to comply with the rules for mere entertainment stands out
  1. Casual griefing ā€“ refusing to comply with the rules for mere entertainment ā€“ stands out as another griefing variety.
Deception is found on griefing, showing that those who deceive when gaming intend to cause pain and are trying to gain power through antisocial means by locking off the access to the truth to themselves and away from those who expect communication that does not violate and erode social contract
  1. Online gaming affords a unique opportunity to examine deception in computer-mediated human-to-human communication. The complexity of the phenomenon and associated opposing views are offered here to be weighted by the LIS scholars and professionals
Intentionally malicious communicating strategies for the purposes of accumulating personal power are deeply disturbing.
  1. Communicative strategies in video games, especially those of an intentionally malicious nature, are poorly understood and often disconcerting to many. This study examines one such potentially malicious phenomenon ā€“ i.e. griefing, an act of play intended to cause grief to game players.
Deceptive elements and relationship to associated malicious acts in video games show an antisocial proclivity that begins to hegemonize and normalize in the cognitive style of gamers
  1. This study aims at achieving an empirical understanding of griefing, its varieties, its deceptive elements, and its relationship to other closely associated malicious acts in video games. We aim to raise awareness of griefing behaviours and its varieties in video games, and offer two points-of-view for a discussion in the LIS community.
Credibility assessment relies on a prosocial person making it, otherwise they can reward noncredibility as credible, rotting the entire value system
  1. Broader information science and communication scholars may find griefing varieties in video gaming of interest in their research in credibility assessment and deception detection, within this specific domain of video game communication or in broader computer-mediated communication contexts.
Griefing can be seen as a way to subvert the rules while taking advantage of anonymity
  1. Griefing can be seen as yet another form of subverting the rules while taking advantage of anonymity.
Violence has been studied in video games, not the normalization of deception
  1. Although violence has been studied in video games (e.g. Dietz, 1998; Robertson, 2004; Wolock, 2004), there is surprisingly little research about deception in video games beyond the examination of cheating (Consalvo, 2005) and identity deception (Donath, 1999; Turkle, 1995).
Falsification, concealment and equivocation all are three types of deception
  1. Buller (1994) distinguish three deception varieties: (1) falsification (lying or describing ā€œpreferred realityā€), considered most prevalent and most practiced and least readily detected; (2) concealment (omitting material facts); and (3) equivocation (dodging, skirting issues by changing the subject or offering indirect responses).
Griefing is considered to be a type of cyberbullying
  1. In virtual communities, such as Second Life, griefing is often considered to be a type of cyber-bullying (Coyne et al. 2009). Alternatively griefing is equated to a form of cheating by using logics of code to demonstrate superiority over certain other players.
Griefing can pretend to be not confrontational, but still achieve wealth through antisocial means through the careful deception of others
  1. For some this may be less directly confrontational, such as achieving great wealth by the careful deception of others (as a scam on Eve Online[1] reveals), or it may be through actively defeating others in gameplay, by illegally (or unethically) acquired skills or items (Consalvo, 2007, p. 102).
Power imposition can be nearly pedophilic in power imbalance, taking someone with no background at all nor any protection and trying to destroy them simply because they can
  1. . In power imposition, a player exerts their superiority in the game, for instance, by killing weaker characters multiple times or preventing weaker characters from achieving goals ā€“ simply because of the offenderā€™s ability to do so.
Scamming also occurs in griefing
  1. The third type of griefing is scamming ā€“ an act of making an intentional ā€œbad dealā€ with another player in order to gain either real-world or virtual-world benefits
Greed players act for their own benefit, with no regard for other players
  1. Finally, Foo and Koivisto (2004) identify greed play as a less obvious type of griefing due to its unintentional yet callous nature: griefers simply act for their own benefit, with no regard for other players.
Griefers bond over committing antisocial behavior, look up to each other for it and congratulate each other for it, normalizing this and creating cognitive tropes that this is a functional, not maladaptive trait
  1. The griefing thread specifically is considered by some to be the birthplace of griefers (Dibbell, 2009) and is ideal for our purposes. It is the forum where a select group of griefers purposefully shares grief play experiences, and that allows us to unobtrusively gain insights into griefersā€™ points-of-view.
Encouraging meaningless economic performance that ultimately devalues the currency
  1. the forums require paid membership for posting on threads (implying that those willing to contribute have sustained interest in the topic).
Griefing experienced happened with more gaming, showing an overall high exposure to abuse in consistent gaming
  1. Half of the interviewees experienced griefing fairly frequently, at least once every two weeks. The more time the gamers reportedly played, the more they tended to experience griefing (with the exception of Participant I)
Griefers intend to cause grief through stalking, hurling insults and exploiting unintended game mechanics. These may be ok in a game, but normalized these are seriously pathological outside of them.
  1. . Griefers differ from typical players in that they do not play the game in order to achieve objectives defined by the game world. Instead, they seek to harass other players, causing grief. In particular, they may use tools such as stalking, hurling insults, and exploiting unintended game mechanics (Forum Thread Participant 37)[2].
Casual griefing is meant to cause the person to quit the game.
  1. Griefing is using a game to intentionally annoy someone, with the goal of making them upset, perhaps to the point where they quit the game (IP I)
Entrapment is normalized and are inherently deceptive; cooperation is actively disincentivized due to the higher than average antisocial proclivity in the gaming platform which makes it too costly.
  1. Such entrapments, though not necessarily verbally stated, are intentional and inherently deceptive: the players (avatars) do not comply with cooperative principles of communication by neglecting to state a necessary piece of information or give a warning about something obvious
Greed play encourages economic maladaptation; for example a perpetrator in a game was seen setting a high price and then killing those who opposed the prices.
  1. Greed play ā€“ playing for oneā€™s own benefit regardless of the consequences to other players ā€“ does not necessarily have to be accompanied by harassment or scamming. In Example 10 the perpetrator describes selling trees and killing those who opposed the prices ā€“ a malicious act for his or her own gain.
Casual griefing is contrarianism not to exert power but as a sick form of entertainment. It is also antisocial in tendency.
  1. In contrast to clearly abusive types of griefing, casual griefing ā€“ proposed in the findings of this study as a distinct variety of griefing ā€“ lacks those elements of griefing described in the literature. It is an obstructive form of game play without any harassment, power imposition, scamming, or greed play. It is a simple act of defiance: a player refuses to comply with the script of play for his or her own entertainment.
There are six dimensions; disruptiveness, malice, lucrativeness, means, deceptiveness, and emotional perceived valence.
  1. Overall griefing varies along six salient dimensions: (1) intentionality to disrupt; (2) maliciousness/caused harm; (3) lucrativeness; (4) means; (5) deceptiveness; and (6) emotional perceptions, ranging from awe to frustration, from acceptance as a friendly badgering to condemnation for anti-social behaviours.
Grievers who find they are good at causing grief enjoy it. This may encourage it and make them develop a predisposition towards antisocial behavior in areas that do not consent to me affected by these gaming ecologies and whatever norms they have maladapted to create.
  1. The difference in attitudes is most likely explained by the predominant group perspective: the griefing ā€œmastermindsā€ obviously enjoy griefing, while victims suffer to various extents, and may not be entertained by the disruptions of their gaming experience.
Griefers disturbingly sound like thrill criminals, saying they enjoy the act and attention.
  1. We confirm Foo and Koivistoā€™s (2004) findings that ā€œgriefers enjoy the act and attentionā€, are ā€œunabashed about their activitiesā€ and that griefing successes are determined by the victimsā€™ reactions (p. 247).

2024.06.01 04:58 Doc_Zed_42 Chapter 27: Supply and Treachery at the Station

Chapter 27: Supply and Treachery at the Station
As the Great Human Convoy prepares for its most daring venture yet, Inspector Xilthar, with a newfound sense of purpose, navigates the bureaucratic labyrinth of the Hub Station. His efforts are not in vain; he secures a squad of the notorious Florida Men as his personal guard and orchestrates the clearance for Convoy members to engage in trade on the station.
The station's market sector is a hive of activity, with groups from the Convoy mingling with station residents and traders from across the galaxy. The air is thick with the scent of exotic spices and the hum of bartering voices.
In a secluded corner of the market, Bubba, the enigmatic mechanic, haggles over a bulk order of power transfer units. His companions, Bobby and Jeff, exchange puzzled glances and quips.
Bobby: "I tell ya, The last time I saw this many power units, I thought I was at a robot's family reunion! So, Bubba, what's with the mountain of power units? You building a second Convoy or what?"
Bubba: (just shrugs, giving a knowing smile)
Jeff: "I tell ya, man, that Bubba's like one of them... them dang ol' prophets, man. Sees the future or somethin', man."
Bobby: "Yeah, and I'm the King of Mars. Seriously, Bubba, give us a hint!"
Bubba: (points to the power units, then to his head, and finally makes a gesture of something expanding)
Jeff: "Dang ol', boom, man! Like, mind blown, man. He's sayin' it's gonna be big, Bobby. Real big."
Bobby: "Big, huh? Last time Bubba said something was gonna be big, we ended up with a new distillery wing on the Hodgepodge."
Jeff: "Yeah, man, that was a dang ol' good time, man. Moonshine so strong, you could fuel a starship with it, man."
Bobby: "Alright, Bubba, we trust you. But if this thing blows up, I'm blaming you for the hangover."
Bubba: (just nods, still with that mysterious smile)
Jeff: "Mm-hmm, man, I tell you what, man, that dang ol' Bubba, man, he's like one of them, I say, chess players, man, thinkin' 'bout next move and all that, man."
Despite their confusion, they trust in Bubba's mysterious foresight, knowing that his intuition has never steered the Convoy wrong.
The scene is lively, with hawkers pushing everything from advanced nanotech to basic tools and hardware stretching out before the Chessmaster's holographic form , projected from her 'inside' drone, built with the help of Glark and Bubba, standing as a beacon of calm amidst the bustling crowd. Her group, a collection of the Convoy's finest minds and hands, disperses into the station's sprawling Tech District, each member on a quest for components that will bolster the fleet's capabilities.
The Chessmaster, with her avatar's hands clasped behind her back, surveys the scene. Her digital eyes flicker with calculations as she delegates tasks to her team.
Chessmaster: "Remember, we're not just looking for parts. We're looking for potential. Each piece must fit into the greater design of our Convoy's future."
Glark: (nodding) "Understood. Efficiency and synergy, that's the game."
Hamtonio: (revving his hovercycle) "And a bit of haggling for good measure!"
The Chessmaster smiles, a rare display of 'emotion' from an AI, as her team scatters like pieces on a chessboard, each moving with purpose.
Scene: The Shielding Vendor
Glark and Hamtonio find themselves at a stall, its vendor boasting a shielding system that could protect a small moon.
Glark: "Impressive specs. But can it adapt to fit a moving fleet?"
Vendor: "Absolutely! It's the latest model. It can even recalibrate on the fly in response to spatial anomalies."
Hamtonio: (whispering to Glark) "We'll take it. But let's play it cool, get a better price."
After a series of technical questions and light-hearted banter, they secure the shielding system at a fair price, their excitement contained but eyes gleaming with the success of their find.
Dawn and the Flower Girls weave through the stalls of the Green Market, their laughter mingling with the chatter of the crowd. Dawn, in a sedate purple ensemble, and the Flower Girls, draped in their colorful robes, exchange stories and laughter with the vendors as they peruse the stalls.
Dawn: "So, Marigold, any new tales from the Convoy?"
Marigold: "Oh, Dawn, you wouldn't believe the rumors swirling around! They say there's a ghost haunting the lower decks of the Shining Princess."
Dawn: (smiles) "A ghost, you say? Perhaps it's just one of the goats playing tricks again."
The Flower Girls giggle, sharing knowing looks as they continue their shopping, their baskets filling with exotic plants and spices.
Dawn: "Marigold, have you heard about the new hydroponic tech they're showcasing?"
Marigold: "I have, and I'm more interested in the stories the plants could tell. Imagine the gardens we could grow!"
Their conversation is a blend of technical expertise and whimsical musings.
As the day progresses, the Chessmaster's team reconvenes, each member returning with their treasures. The Chessmaster reviews their acquisitions, her avatar nodding in approval.
Chessmaster: "Well done, everyone. Today, we've secured not just parts, but promises of a stronger, safer journey. Let's return to the Convoy and begin the next phase of our work."
The group heads back to the fleet. The Convoy's departure may not be imminent, but when the time comes, they will be ready to face the stars as one.
W'ham B'ham's towering presence is unmistakable as she enters the auction house. Her hand-forged weapons, relics of a bygone era, draw the eyes of collectors and historians alike.
Auctioneer: "Ladies and gentlemen, These are not merely weapons; they are masterpieces from the hands of A Void Dragon Forgemaster herself!"
W'ham B'ham: (nods silently, her weapons displayed proudly)
The crowd murmurs with excitement. Collectors lean forward, their eyes gleaming with avarice and admiration.
Collector 1: "I'll start the bidding at five thousand credits!"
Collector 2: "Ten thousand!"
The numbers climb furiously, each bid outdoing the last as the collectors engage in a fierce battle of wealth and desire.
Collector 3: "Twenty thousand credits!"
The room falls silent. The bid is unprecedented, but these are no ordinary pieces of metal; they are echoes of the forge, resonating with the skill and dedication of their equally rare creator.
W'ham B'ham watches from the back, her expression unreadable. The blades were a part of her routine, a means to keep her skills honed. Yet here they are, commanding a price that speaks of their true value.
Auctioneer: "Going once, twice... Sold for twenty thousand credits!"
The gavel falls, and the deal is sealed.
Once the dust has settled, W'ham B'ham's blades have found new homes, and the credits she receives are more than enough to acquire the advanced servos she needs to boost her EVA suit's strength twofold.
Accompanied by his bodyguards, exploring deep in the archives, Xilthar's keen eyes catch a discrepancy in the docking logs, a thread that unravels to reveal a web of deceit. Admiral Vortan, a high-ranking official with a polished record, stands at the center of this web. Xilthar, invoking little-known ordinances, calls for a full investigation, his voice echoing through the corridors of power.
Xilthar: "Under Galactic Council Statute 47-C, I hereby initiate an investigation into the misuse of authority and resources within the governance and military sectors."
Thus the gears of order begin grinding, seeking to remove the corruption. One side effect is the military fleet is broken free and begin heading towards the rendezvous.
As the investigation gains momentum, danger lurks. An assassin, cloaked in the anonymity of the crowd, fires at Xilthar. But Sgt. Leroy Jenkins dives in the way of the shots, covering his ward.
Sgt. Jenkins: "Get down, Inspector!"
Guns blaze, and Jenkins's shield flickers with each impact, his nanites working overtime to repair the damage that makes it through.
Jenkins makes sure the Inspector is safe, and screams out his name as the madman charges full speed at the assassin who breaks and runs. Jenkins disappears into the crowd in hot pursuit.
Later, at Xilthar's safe house, the mood is somber until Jenkins arrives, with a hover kart loaded with buckets of fried chicken. The team gathers, the scent of comfort food mingling with the tension in the air.
Jenkins: "Nothing like a little chicken to patch up the holes, eh?"
Xilthar: (smiles weakly) "I suppose every cloud has a silver lining... or a greasy one, in this case."
Jenkins: "And look what I found. ID codes for a bounty on your head. Seems you've ruffled some feathers, Inspector." He tosses a datachip onto the table.
Xilthar's resolve hardens. It's time to strike the final blow against the bureaucracy and seek refuge with the Convoy.
On the Convoy, over the Comms, Jeb: "First time with a bounty on yer head? Welcome to the club, Inspector!"
MetalHead: "Heh, you get used to it. Just another day in the life of a spacefarer."
Suicide Jockey: "Bounties? Oh, I've had my share. Ended up claiming them all, too. But you don't wanna know about that part." He gives a slightly unhinged grin,
Xilthar: "I'm beginning to think I've chosen the wrong career."
The banter lightens the mood, and Xilthar finds camaraderie in this motley crew as he prepares to show everyone the men behind the curtain.

2024.06.01 04:45 Time_Peak4303 Helaena Targaryen and Daeron Velaryon Dual SI

Basically the title as I'm planning a SI with Helaena and Daeron Velaryon but with historical characters rather than modern with neither knowing the other is an SI.
I admit this is kinda a spin on two of my previous posts in a different subreddit where I originally planned for Helaena and her siblings to be replaced/reincarnated by the Tudor siblings and the idea of mixing Avatar: The Last Airbender and Naruto abilities into the series but have since scrapped both ideas due to issues with planning.
The historical figure I chose for Helaena was Empress Matilda (otl inspo for Rhaenyra) whilst the one for Daeron was Edward VI (mostly cause I think he'd fit in well?). I originally was debating on choosing Margaret, Maid of Norway for Helaena but I could barely find anything about her so ended up choosing Empress Maud instead. Though neither of them are POV chapter but instead I intend them to be viewed through the eyes of other characters.
I also better planned out how each element is separated through the Seven Kingdoms here, Riverlands is primarily water as is the North and Iron Islands, with the North being similar to the Southern Water Tribe with less resources whilst the Tully's are more like the Northern Water Tribe and the Iron Islands are essentially an outlier not necessarily modeled after either one but is instead like the Hidden Mist in Naruto where their established as one of the more ruthless parts of the realm.
The Vale and Stormlands are primarily airbenders, with the ability to fly on their own due to specialized devices they use.
The Reach and Westerlands are both earth benders, with the Lannisters essentially being able to bend gold here.
Dorne although it won't appear much here due to it not being really relevant will be established as being divided between water benders, and earth benders with a select group being able to bend sand itself.
Whilst the Crownlands is sort of a mix of all the elements obviously some houses are outliers like House Strong who are earth benders, and House Baratheon who are fire benders due to their Targaryen ancestry.
After some hijinks Daeron and Helaena marry, whether by someone else's scheming or their own but anyways they have a couple kids together who will come into play later.
Aegon obviously marries someone else likely Cassandra Baratheon. However my only issue is that I'm going to be establishing some characters died pre-Dance either from illness or due to some sort of conflict.
The fight on Driftmark happens relatively the same but an aged up Joffrey also fights longside his brothers Jacaerys and Lucerys like in the books. But the fight ends in more devastating consequences than canon which sorta makes the Greens ruthlessness after losing one of their own.
Rhaena is Corlys and Rhaenys' ward here and also has a dragon of her own, Laenor also ends up dying earlier as well, likely from an illness but they still attend Laena's funeral as per show canon.
I decided early on that I wanted the Hightowers to essentially be the Hyuuga/Senju of this story where they often have prodigies but also in fear of others trying to steal their techniques have a failsafe like the Caged Bird Seal with every minor member of their house having one (including Alicent). It will also lean into their connections with the faith due to the myth about their origins being similar to origins of the ancient Otsutsuki clan, ie. that their descendants of this super powerful family and similar things like that.
The Targaryens lean more into the fire jutsu and curse of hatred that the Uchiha were known for which is paired with the ruthlessness and bloodlust of the the Mist specifically the Karatachi, Kaguya and Chinoike clans so it better explains the "blood of the dragon" as many call it but their are exceptions who don't inherit it as well.
Whereas the Velaryons are influenced by the Uzumaki/Nara who are known for their great amount of stamina in battle as well as their strategic minds. They also specifically specialized in water-based abilities and are able to manipulate the coming tides in their favor and on rare occasions could learn how to bend blood in peoples veins.
I suppose it's kinda obvious I'm blending book and show now with very specific changes for various plot reasons which will be explained in the story going onwards. I'm very sorry for the long read but I figure it would be cool for me to share it here?
I just want to know if anybody would read it and if so any recommendations on how to start the SI? As I know people use and incident or illness and I donā€™t know which to use so would be greatful for any help!

2024.06.01 04:29 Ok_Froyo_8036 My fight with the "chosen one trope" and trying to lean into new narratives

Cmon Iā€™m not the only one whoā€™s tired of the ā€œthe chosen oneā€ trope, nor am I the only one whoā€™s ever attempted a crusade to combat the concept. I donā€™t hate it, there have been plenty of awesome chosen one characters in all kinds of fiction, as well as characters who also oppose the chosen one concept as well.
Right now, Iā€™m just trying to devise my own unique attempt at challenging the concept. I had scrapped 99% of a previous work and started rebuilding from ground zero. Consider Avatar the Last Airbender, specifically the idea of someone being THE avatar (as a concept rather than the role itself). My mc rolls into the scene. A young pirate whoā€™s determined to be the so called SPECIAL, a two step goal, one being to claim the title of the chosen one, and then streamlining all the way to accomplishing this secondary goal (yea this is just structural stuff, nothing cemented in yet given Iā€™m rebuilding from nothing). Less than halfway through, my mc has it all. Majority of the main cast together, one city away from the place where the special is supposed to be found. Only to be blindsided with breaking news broadcasted to around the world. The special has finally been revealed.
The outline progresses to reveal that this special, similar to the Avatar from ATLA was not chosen at a whim, but determined at birth based on thousands of determining factors. This was no accident, and there was never going to be a chance for the mc to achieve that first goal. Coming to terms that they had invested hope in the wrong thing and trying to regain balance in their life. During the recovery process another sideline introduces itself into the plot, the previous special, the alleged ā€œfirstā€ chosen one. Who makes a fool out of the current chosen one, who is supposed to be this new god-like figure in the world. This event is an attempt to shatter the idea that the chosen one can fulfill the destiny chosen for them, and to show that at least one other chosen one was given this false hope and experienced the crushing failure, the weight of loss, having all the people idolizing them demonizing them. My mc witnessing this and using it to jump off into a new path understanding that no destiny is set in stone no matter what. This is where my outline has it a bit of a roadblock but to be fair I came up with this last night baked outta my fucking mind šŸ˜‚
So what do you think? Any advice? Any critiques? Any questions? Iā€™m open to anything!

2024.06.01 04:22 avatarroku157 i finished reading legacy of yangchen for the first time recently, so heres an analysis and general thoughts

reading legacy of yangchen was a bit of an emotional roller coaster for me. with fc yee being such a good auther, i felt the emotions within each character very well, including annoyance and sadness. but what truly made me impressed was what the yangchen books implied towards the rest of the series. so in this post, i would like to point out attributes within the story i found worth note, and how this book makes me look back on the other avatar series in a new light.
one of the most interesting points is the white lotus. this series gave the white lotus the most unsympathetic story so far, which is suprising considering irohs appreciation of the group. it is not just a spiritual do gooder group, but a power holder, which is good to be reminded of. the fact they were willing to try and replicate unanimity shows the cracks. what made them humble themeselves by the time of atla, i dont know. maybe the war. but this side to them is fascinating and makes me a bit more suspicious of the old folks in the show.
which moves on to the next topic; unanimity. the island unanimity is probably the most disturbing place we get to see in the avatar universe so far. honestly the chair had implications that honestly made me a bit sick when reading it. but understanding this aspect of the series gives whole new implications to the ones we see in the show. with the tattoos not being a thing in the books and how its not as efficient as in the shows, it makes me wonder about what horrors combustion man and p'li may have gone through.
this also makes me wonder about chaisees backstory more. her description of diving for sponges sounds awfully similar to how combustion benders were drowned. theres also the fact that theres all the air nomad scrolls at the island and the learning of chi. unanimity seemed to have been a project long in the making, much longer than chaisees 2 year term. but the project seemed to have been much more different than what it became, making an army out of chi blockers and lava benders and assasins with poisons. however, considering what we are told about chaisees background and her interests, its possible to say that the combustion benders were her brain child. maybe she noticed the technique done by a drowning diver. its an interesting implication that you definetely could miss reading, but what im more interested in is the implications that could be made for other new and obscure forms of bending and the meaning the creators can attach to them.
for the rest of this, i wanna adress yangchen herself. yangchen, for as good of a person as she it, is probably one of the most egotistical people in her series. this isnt without reason. her condition has led her to have a unique point of view for what is important long term, both for the world and for the being of the avatar. so she does actions that align with this. do whats actually good for the world, not whats good for her one life. so she becomes very deffensive around other powers like the white lotus, despite the fact they are more like her than she is willing to admit. and her feelings and treatment of kavik is more out of pride he betrayed her for his brother more than just simply the betrayal. the idea that family would ever come before the greater good almost disgust her. this disconnect from other people, not able to see past potential mannipulation, is perhaps her true antagonist is the seriesm, not chaisee, its why she felt she didnt deserve to know for certainty that she can trust kavik. she did need to earn that trust.
lastly, i would like to talk about the book namesake, yangchens legacy. the entire series, she was concerned about not leaving an actual positive impact on the world and for her next lives to see another avatar full of regrets. at the end of the series, she learns not to care about the judgement as it is innevitable, and learns from jetsun that its worth helping the world for the few that you actually help, not the one who are out of your grasp. and good thing she did, because she definetely did not succeed on all accounts.
for her 2 direct reincarnations, many of the problems they had to handle are directly linked to yangchens shortcomings. obviously with kuruk and the spirits, but also with kyoshi and the general state of the world. the shang cities may be gone by kyoshis time, but the world has been shaped by yangchens nuance. the fifth nation, the saowons, the second earth king, the power of the sages, all of these have some link back to yangchen. but i feel no other character embodies the link more than Jianzhu. when comparing the characters from the books, kyoshi and yangchens actions and plot arent very similar. but in comparison, Jianzhu and yangchens struggles are very similar. they both try to achieve through deception rather than direct violence, both struggle with handling their personal relationships weighed with their responsibilities, and both struggle to see the good in humanity when they daily see attrocities. the biggest difference between the two is yangchens nomad upbringing keeping her from falling into her worse impulses, compared to Jianzhu who became a monster. when yangchen died, others had to take the hard role she took. and in the case of Jianzhu, he snapped where yangchen did not.
yangchen unfortunately probably didnt have too good relationships with too many of her reincarnations. kuruk was probably obvious, rightfully blaiming her for how his life fell apart. kyoshi is probably the only life she had a deep relationship with so far. true, she did not hate yangchen or have to bare her regrets, but she did have to reveal the mask the world new her as compare to the reality, something kyoshi had to learn to her discretion. but if anything her anxiety of being a blank slate, more memories than an actual person, seem to have been an anxiety without ground, as she never had a proper connection to her past lives compared to the other avatars weve seen so far.
aang is probably the most interesting reincarnationship we get to see. despite the fact weve only seen one interaction between the 2 so far, the implications are by far probably the heaviest. throughout the books, her balance between being a nomad and being the avatar was a constant struggle. despite the fact we havent seen her directly kill someone, the problem aang was dealing with when he reached out, we see that she failed her heritage in many other ways. to such an extent that she feels the air nomad code needs to be sacrificed to protect the world. but to aang, the last air nomad, this was never an option. in finding a way to keep to his heritage while protecting the world, aang corrected the last of yangchens shortcomings; holding to the promise of awakening and giving their future reincarnation both points of view, giving lessons of hope others may not have (which reminds me, i REEEAAALLLY hope the next avatar will have their past connections restored).
and thats about that, the majority of my thoughts. the books continue to be my favorite avatar media after atla itself. but as for what yangchen has to offer i find great is what it says about legacy. we see in the media with her is that she is flawed, but in the end still pushes for the right thing. and in the end, that push did leave to a positive impact. her legacy isnt in her shortcomings and others had to step in, but that she tried at all and that at least a few people were saved by her actions.

So Iā€™m working on my own jasmine oolong mix. I wanted to ask.. ummm how do you tea? How long to soak before filtering & if so, how many times can I reuse the tea mixture in one setting? Rookie Teaā€™er
This is an automatic magnetic tea pot that I JUST literally seen on social media that I ordered off of Amazon. I also ordered two different teas both organic. one very aromatic jasmine & one strong oolong I was thinking of maybe mixing them, but I donā€™t know if they will ruin the flavor. Should I just add as I go? I watch a lot of Avatar the last airbender & always hear uncle mention jasmine tea.

2024.06.01 02:46 Ok_Video488 I've Been Playing "Adopt Me!" For Over 2 Years. But After My Experience, I'll Never Look At "Adopt Me!" The Same Again.

I've been logging into "Adopt Me!" for over 2 years. I'll one day get my 1,000th day streak, a milestone I doubt anyone reached, but after what I went through, I don't think I'd play "Adopt Me!" anytime soon.
On the day where I should've gotten by 1,000th day streak, I knew something was off as the game loaded. Instead of having the familiar and cheery intro screen, I was already in the game (it just popped up). The usual iconic music was replaced by a stinging silence. I once prided as a very rich player, but I now had no bucks and only one Flare-age Neon dog named Alex, and a Luminous-age Neon cat named Lilly.
It had been a long time ago since I played "Adopt Me!" for the first time, but I couldn't bring up anytime where I had a Neon dog which I named Alex, nor a Neon cat named Lilly.
I didn't even think that was possible, because I never recalled creating a new account, and even if I did, only either a dog OR a cat would hatch from the Starter Egg, and it definitely wouldn't have a Neon cat/dog of ANY age.
I began getting worried. Had I been hacked? Had I loaded into the wrong server (I realized I had been playing alone)? Or was some other technical issue? But if it was a technical issue, how could I just get two Neon pets for free?
I looked further into my pets, and found something that was DEFINITELY not right. Why did the pets have healthbars, along with a stamina, energy, hunger, and thirst bar? Was this a survival game? "Adopt Me!" hadn't ever been a survival game- it was always an RP and pet-raising game!
Not even my avatar was the same. It was reduced to the standard Roblox Noob, when I really had a lot of Robux. Had I logged into a doppelganger account?
I looked into my 'Toys' section, and all I had were a Flashlight and Toy Sword. Had someone hacked this into a survival game? If so, what kind?
But I wasn't gonna sit around to find out. I called the Roblox support number, but the voicemail was just dead silence even as I turned up to full volume, almost as if it was off-duty.
When I looked back in my game screen, I found a note on the ground, I picked it up by pressing E, and it read:
"I know you. I know you're wondering why this game seems so out of place, and you tried to call Roblox support. A virus has just started spreading in the Nursery and much of Adoption Island has been destroyed by its hosts. The infection doesn't spread by air, but if they touch you, well, you know. Wait... someone's-" I immediately put the note down and ran my avatar back home, not thinking of looking back. But then a dialogue box opened.
LILLY: Wait! I can't keep up!
I wanted to slow down, but I was afraid of what was behind me. I realized my avatar was almost out of stamina, so I cut behind a tree to recharge. I realized Lilly's healthbar was completely red, and I dreaded to think on what would happen if either pets' or my HP reached 0. I tried carrying them both, but that left me defenseless. As I listened closely, I didn't hear anything, so it might be safe again. But I couldn't relax as a message popped up that said, "DON'T MAKE A NOISE!" with an audio recording waveform that had a bar limit. I held my breath and remained as quiet as possible, not as quiet as the game's ambience.
After quietly breathing in and out of what felt like forever, the warning message finally faded. I picked up the two pets, and snuck quietly back into my home. When I got home, though, I realized there had been a crate in there.
"Do I open the crate?" I asked myself. "What if it's infected?" I drew my Toy Sword and pressed 'E' to open it. What I found inside washed most of my worries away. Inside there was a Flame Sword, with the typical blade replaced by a 2D fire icon. I didn't know what this new weapon would do, but I wasn't gonna keep my blunt Toy Sword around.
Suddenly, a speech bubble popped up on what seemed to be behind me. "ANNA: You've upgraded your weapon." I dragged my camera around, and there was Anna, the young girl typically from the Nursery with blonde hair and a pink onesie with a rabbit tail.
"What's going on?" I typed in the chat.
I didn't expect her to respond, as she's just an NPC. But merely 3 seconds later, she replied, "I... I don't know." She responded. "But I think the source is in the Nursery."
Another chat bubble popped up from behind.
"ALEX: But what if we die, even if we destroyed the beacon?"
"We have no choice," I typed back. "It's either us, or them. But maybe, if we just work together, we could make it out alive."
As we stepped out with my volume as high as possible to sense any infected, suddenly, as we were about to enter the Nursery, the ground below us suddenly gave away, and it was dark, too dark, so dark I worried that if I were to turn on my flashlight, I would get jump scared.
I equipped my flashlight and covered my eyes and slowly pressed the left mouse button, preparing for the worst. But nothing happened. The cave was lit up slightly, and after a few tense seconds, no monster came.
But another thing made me flinch- the torches around suddenly burst alight, nearly making me spill water all over my keyboard. I could vividly hear my avatar's footsteps as I inconsistently tapped the 'W' key to try not to make too much noise.
After tapping the 'W' key on what felt like forever, we came across a very questionable door. As I selected the Flame Sword, I realized it had a series of abilities. I used 'One Slash,' which had the least required energy, but it easily sliced the hinges off and the door fell.
But we were met with a horrible sight. I expected the source to be some like reactor core, but I nearly puked over my computer screen. It was a number of masses of unknown fluid tied together by what appear to be veins. But one mass in the center seemed to be distinctive from the rest, almost as if it had an eye in it.
But I realized that all too late as the central mass began to crack, as if it were an egg. As I drew my Flame Sword open, a huge tentacle burst open from the center mass. I nearly froze. As I panned my camera back facing the door, the door was shut. I tried pressing 'E' opening the door and running, but a dialogue box popped up.
"ANNA: We can't leave yet! Otherwise, the virus would spread out of control!"
I reluctantly panned my camera back to the single tentacle, and shakily pressed the '1' key, equipping my Flame Sword again. But I noticed all too late that that single imposing tentacle was a mere decoy as 8 other tentacles popped open from the other masses.
I quickly popped open my Flame Sword move lists, and I scrolled left to right at what felt like the speed of light, desperately trying to find a good attack. I figured that "Fire Cage" would trap the thing and slow it down as I try to find a new attack.
As I thought, the tentacles were immobile and couldn't move. As I scrolled left to right amid the Flame Sword's attacks, one of them caught my eye, "Infernadius Executionis." It sounded rather powerful, but just as I hovered my mouse over the button, I quickly saw a message:
"DO NOT USE UNLESS LAST RESORT. THIS WILL UNPOWER YOUR SWORD."
But I figured I wouldn't need it as the cage seemed to be burning the thing itself. Without hesitating, I began clicking my left mouse button as fast as I could. I began thinking my finger would create a trance because of how fast I was clicking, then, as the multiple slashes piled up, I was faced with a "time-it-perfect" press circle and ring. I pressed almost perfectly, and the slashes blew the being into nothing.
There was no time to celebrate, though. Almost immediately, a hole appeared in place of the being. The place around began crumbling and a wall of very toxic materials of what seemed to contain the virus began tracing the hind wall. I pressed 'E' as fast as I could to try to push open the heavy door. But it didn't work and I clicked the left mouse button. That triggered a slice which bust the door down into two molten pieces.
As we ran out of the main chamber, we saw more infected monsters that began charging at us immediately followed by a jump scare. But I was so focused on killing the monsters I merely blinked.
I swiped my camera down and slashed, jumping into the air with an incendiary jump. Then, an idea immediately sparked into my mind. I scrolled my camera backwards and looking down about 45 degrees. As I swiped the sword repeatedly about 2 times per second, the monsters began falling like bowling pins.
But all that stopped when I hit a wall on the other side. At this point my Flame Sword was completely drained of energy and was basically a Toy Sword now. But my avatar automatically dropped it and I really couldn't fight off all of them with a mere Toy Sword.
I swiped my camera around in all directions, trying to look for some way to get out. I even spammed the left mouse button to try and see if I could escape. But it all stopped as I heard repeated gunshots behind me and I quickly swiped my camera.
It was Anna, and she seemed to now be around in her teens, with an assault rifle in her hands. Before I could type anything in chat, she spoke up in a voice bubble, "ANNA: Don't worry. I've been in Arsenal before."
Another voice bubble popped up.
"ALEX: But we still have to get out. I can smell the virus from here. If we don't get out, we'll all get infected."
My camera view began developing a red, blurry, vignette. I feared what would happen if my camera became completely opaque. I thought I heard the ceiling crack as I slashed it, so I panned up as hard as I could, and began clicking faster than I ever had.
I thought my mouse was gonna shatter, but all that faded away as the ceiling opened and the camera refreshed. Back out of the ground, the ground patched back up, almost as if nothing was there.
The sky had been clear again, and one last message appeared.
"Congratulations! You've saved Adoption Island from certain extinction, thanks to your party's hard work and determination."
This would be an experience I would never forget or unsee. As I finish this post, I want to remind you that after what I've been through, I'll likely never see "Adopt Me!" the same way ever again.
After all, who knows if the virus is really dead? Is it still buried underground? All I can hope is that another disaster doesn't happen which triggers the virus to be released again, and I REALLY hope this cruel hacker doesn't spread the virus to other games.

I like to read, although I've been in a bit of slump. I generally stick to fantasy and sci-fi. What's your current read?
Some TV series I like or have liked ( Dark, avatar the last Airbender, community, fringe, GOT)
Coffee addict
Dog dad to two huskys. Love to trade pet pics
420 friendly
Big foodie. Love to cook and try new food.

My music interests are all over but I generally listen to different types of rock music. I tend to obsess over a few bands. Sleep Token is my favorite
Like to travel but I haven't been outside of the Midwest much. Hope to change that
Like going to breweries and trying new beer.
Anyways if any of this sounds like we could get along feel free to reach out. Please introduce yourself, don't just say hey. I also have discord or snap if we vibe because reddit chat notifications suck. I'm open to the occasional VC as well. Sometimes it can be a fun way to get to know someone.

2024.06.01 01:18 Mack_B How do I fix my profile photo just showing as a blank new account?!?!?!

This is a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things but itā€™s just super frustrating!
Iā€™ve had my Reddit account for 12 years and recently started commenting and such a bit more in the last few.
Then most recently I created a new subreddit (with close to 100 people joining within a day!!) and I want to turn it into a thing for sure. Itā€™s the niche of photos of music festival campsites, mostly to help new people going to festivals for the first time with ideas.
The most frustrating part is I decided to buy some paid NFT avatars the other year that are pointless now for the purpose I got them for (Iā€™m aware I could just sell them or sent it to a new account to have them work)
I upgraded devices recently, and before that assumed it was a local issue, however, itā€™s clearly not since it persist.
Idk itā€™s just super frustrating and annoying, I donā€™t have the time in life to ever actually do it but Iā€™ve been fantasizing today about starting a class action lawsuit since items I purchased for use on the platform (Reddit) have been rendered unusable.
I suspect this entire post is just screaming into the void, but apparently thatā€™s my only option. At least it was minutely cathartic.
