Kate Flannery (Meredith) was the Starfish in the most recent season of Masked Singer. She made it to her group finals, losing to the eventual champion. One thing that bugs me though is that she changed her voice for this show, My two theories are either due to their mainstream music format (more likely) or that she was playing into her characters on TV since that's who the TV audience would relate to. Kate is actually a VERY talented jazz vocalist who could have easily gone further. Check out her Masked Singer performances here.

So as I was scrolling through YouTube one day I came across a short of a podcast with 4 hosts. I didn’t know who they were. I had seen one of the hosts, Harper but I didn’t know much about her.
As the months went on I started watching Harper and noticed how involved she was in the podcast. Curious, I watched an episode.
I hadn’t watched any podcasts before and being a normal 15 year old girl I was like “what’s the worst that can happen?”
First of all… WHAT A MASTERPIECE!!!! OMG so when I first watched I was filled with laughter and joy immediately. Two of the hosts, Maverick and Cash Baker are brothers along with Cash’s wife, Kate. And of course, Harper. The podcast is kid friendly and they bleep things out when the podcast gets out of hand. I just wanted to say this is 100% ok for your kids to watch!!! Maybe just a little bit of sensitive jokes but other than that it’s 100% friendly!!!

Before I dive into this, I want to preface that my favorite out of the whole series was Queen Charlotte's story. Nothing can top her story. There was love, romance, beauty, heartbreak, tragedy and sensual content. I could watch it over and over again. I actually saw Queen Charlotte first before watching Season 1 and 2 of Bridgerton.
As for the new season, please remember this is just my opinion and we are all entitled to having our own thoughts and preferences.
I'm not interested in Season 3, I've seen snippets here and there on YouTube and Instagram but it only reaffirmed that it was a good idea to not invest in Season 3 at all.
Penelope and Colin's plot doesn't captivate me at all, I'm not convinced about the chemistry and romance between them. Penelope has been friend zoned for years, it just feels out of place and odd that Colin is suddenly interested in her. I also find it hard to root for Penelope when she is Lady Whistledown and so many characters and families have had their reputation destroyed or tainted because of her. She did not even spare her own friends or family.
Francesca's story is too brief and not the main focus of Season 3, I was actually intrigued in her story but she doesn't get as much screen time as Penelope and Colin, unfortunately. This again just turns me off from watching Season 3 all together.
Most of the interesting characters are either not in Season 3 or they have much smaller roles like Daphne, Simon, Anthony, and Kate. It makes complete sense since their stories have been told but now we are left with a much smaller cast and the Bridgerton household feels less full than it was compared to Season 1. It used to be 8 kids with 6 of them being adults. Now it's just 4 adults and 2 kids, it just feels less wholesome. The younger Bridgertons don't get any plot lines so the cast just feels even emptier.
Season 1 had much more powerful scenes like when Daphne had her entrance to meet the Queen and when she walked down the stairs and mesmerized everyone including the Prince himself. There was also a decent amount of scenes that showed what her married life was like as the Duchess. There hasn't been any scenes like that since then. It seems that the quality of the stories and plot lines have begun to go down hill. I wasn't too fond of Season 2. It lacked post married scenes and it never showed Anthony's wedding. There were less steamy scenes in Season 2 compared to Season 1.
With that said, I'm not sure what the future of Bridgerton will be like but it's starting to feel like the show is past its prime.
*I would also like to mention I've read all the episode summaries for Season 3 on wikipedia to provide better context of how much I know about the season, there are tons of clips on Youtube as well.*

Weyward was an absolutely compelling read, following three remarkable women – Kate, Altha, & Violet – as they make their stand, highlighting the power in their blood.

Storytelling

Broken up into three parts, Hart tells the story of three women at three different periods.
The story begins in the 1600s when Altha is standing trial for witchcraft, accused of murdering her friend’s husband, setting the animals wild with her power.
This is not a linear story, going back and forth between the ladies, jumping from 1619 to 2019 to 1942. But Hart does it in a carefully constructed way that draws the reader further into the story.
Each arc is not without its stakes. Altha is on trial for murder, but how does she get out of it? Does she get out of it? These questions let the reader see how her story connects to Kate and Violet.
Kate is running away from her abusive partner in the dead of night, in a cottage left to her by her great aunt, one she barely knew.
Violet struggles with an overly controlling father who has welcomed a man into the home who means to harm her.
Slowly but surely, Hart unveils a powerful story about the women during these trying times. She delves into the time, into their history, weaving together a story that connects the women through the ages, tying them together.
But Hart does so much more. Hart showcases these women’s power, not by delving into the magical aspect of it but by highlighting their resilience and fortitude. Each story reveals more and more about who the women were and how they suffered, only to come out stronger for it, to come out with their heads held high.
Simply put, it was captivating to see the stories unfold and tie together, pulled together by their intuition and the magic that runs in their blood.

Final Thoughts

Weyward is an absolutely fantastic novel. Hart is a masterful storyteller who creates an emotional, riveting novel that will grip you.

Okay guys - I’m at my Wits’ end here. Obviously a HUGE Used fan. Does ANYONE know where I can find a video recording of them playing at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas show circa 2004? At one point (2010 / 11 I think?) the entire show was on YouTube…and then it was taken down. Years later ONE song surfaced…here it is for reference:

I’m not sure why it was taken down. SO many other bands from that set are online..some of whom were also with Reprise Records at the time. I’ve looked and can’t find it. Obviously was ripped from a DVD but I can’t find that either.
Few notable things about this show (I’m a huge nerd so forgive me):

1. Right before The Taste of Ink, Bert totally either hits someone with a water bottle or gets water ALL over someone when he throws it out to the crowd. (It happens off camera). Hilarious. Bert says sorry like 3 times in a row…even throws out “my bad” back when that phrase was super popular haha.
   
2. Bert screams “see it!” during the 2nd verse of The Taste of Ink for the first time since 2002, and for the last time in his career. He totally went all in (or is it all out?) on this show.
   
3. Bert begins losing his voice halfway through the show, but just fucking keeps on chugging.
   
4. Bert gives THE MOST BRUTAL performance of I’m a Fake for their closing song. The whole band plays great. The tempo’s obviously increased (against the studio version), and both Quinn, Jeph, and Branden provide stellar backup vocals. Ultimately the center piece of this performance is (obviously) Bert. His screams are very intense. Obviously he was in the midst of losing his voice - but I also wonder if he wasn’t on the verge of crying. You can absolutely HEAR the pain in his voice. At the bridge he even mimics being crucified. It’s really, really dark….but all the same… simply incredible. Clearly he was still incredibly raw from Kate’s death (July 2004), and the holidays just might have been the thing that brought it out of him. I just remember hurting so much for him when watching at 21 years old.

"I won’t be resting. I don’t rest. I’d like to rest... But I don't get to rest." - Donald Trump, who famously slept through big portions of his trial, insisting that while his defense team may rest, he never will.

Legally Conned

Disgraced former President Trump took a big step toward finding out whether he’ll face voters as a convicted felon on election day, when the defense rested Tuesday in his Manhattan hush-money trial.

• Despite vowing to testify, Trump wimped out at the last minute. Legal experts, of course, had predicted that putting this notorious liar under oath could doom him. Donald Trump, Jr. attempted to justify his father’s decision by telling reporters: “You don’t subject yourself to that nonsense” — referring to the trial that, of course, Trump brought upon himself.
  
• Closing arguments are now set to kick off one week from today, because Judge Juan Merchan didn’t want to squeeze closings and deliberations in before Memorial Day Weekend. And, let’s be honest, who could blame him? So attorneys and the judge spent the afternoon deliberating over the jury charge. That’s an explanation given to the jurors about their responsibilities and impact, and how to decide the case, ideally using as little legalese as possible. Some experts argue this crucial detail could make or break this case.
  
• After the jury gets their instructions by Thursday, and lawyers begin making their closing arguments on Tuesday, the jury will meet to decide Trump’s fate. Some legal analysts have said that prison is unlikely even if Trump is found guilty, however, given that prior similar cases have only resulted in incarceration for only 1-in-10 cases.
  

The bigger question may be how voters will react — and particularly, how many independents and moderate Republicans might balk at the prospect of sending a convicted felon to the White House.

The man once hailed as America’s Mayor continued his surreal descent into strange infamy this week. Rudy Giuliani pleaded not guilty to felony charges of conspiring to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Arizona on Tuesday, just days after he was served with criminal indictment papers at his own 80th birthday bash on Friday. The longtime Trump attorney was the only defendant among 11 appearing Tuesday who was ordered to post a $10,000 bond after allegedly ducking the summons for weeks.
Giuliani called in to the hearing by phone and told the court he does not have an attorney, but eventually would get one. He denied “hiding,” and slammed the indictment as “a complete embarrassment.” He said he didn’t have a copy of that indictment, but had a “general familiarity with the charges from reading it in the newspapers.” He rambled so much the judge threatened to cut his mic, saying: “I don’t want to have to mute you.”
Giuliani is already grappling with a parallel criminal case in Georgia, as well as bankruptcy and a crushing $148 million defamation debt. He’s begun raising money, bizarrely, as a coffee salesman. His decaf brand literally features a picture of Rudy sitting on a beach in flip-flops “enjoying life.” Which, we can confidently say after the week this guy just had, is definitely Fake News.

What Else?

An Associated Press executive criticized the Israeli government for seizing a camera and other equipment belonging to the media outlet. Israeli officials accused the AP of violating a new law against sharing content with Al Jazeera, the Qatar-based media organization that has been highly critical of Israel’s actions towards Palestinians. Hours later, Israeli officials reversed course, and said they would return the equipment.
Voters in Georgia are deciding today whether they want to give Fani Willis another term as District Attorney in Fulton County, GA in the Peach State’s primary. The Democratic lawyer is prosecuting Trump and his co-conspirators’ for their efforts to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results. The judge overseeing this case is on the ballot, too. That doesn’t make us nervous at all!
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) plans to bring a bipartisan border bill back up for a vote this week as Democrats attempt to take a stronger stance on immigration heading into November. The idea seems to be to force Republicans to vote against tighter border security once again, in order to show they, and Trump, would rather campaign on this issue than solve the problem (which, it goes without saying, is the GOP’s whole thing).
President Biden’s approval rate hit its lowest level in nearly two years. Just 36 percent of Americans approve of the commander-in-chief’s job performance in the latest Reuters/ISOS poll. Top concerns include the economy, inflation and immigration.
Trump posted a video on Truth Social extolling the “creation of a unified reich.” He eventually removed the post after widespread criticism over its evident reference to actual Nazi Germany, aka, the Third Reich. And yes, he did this during Jewish Awareness Heritage Month!
Biden condemned Trump’s video as “Hitler’s language.” Vice President Kamala Harris called it “appalling.” Adam Kinzinger, the anti-Trumper former House Republican Congressman from Illinois, tweeted: “Please pardon my language, but there is not other thing to say than ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? This man is a stain, a Nazi.”
Voters are telling focus groups they're worried that Trumpism could last more than four years if he wins this election. "I wouldn’t put it past him, now that he owns the [Republican National Committee], to say, ‘Don Jr. is going to do the next term, and he’ll get two. And then Barron will get two,’" one undecided Pennsylvania swing-voter said, according to Bloomberg. (Note: Barron is, thank God, too young for this to happen.)

Light At The End Of The Email

About 70 percent of American adults report “doing at least OK financially” according to a new survey by the Federal Reserve. In a campaign year where the economy is a top issue for many voters this is, basically, “at least OK” news for Biden, but still represents a significant drop from a high of 78 percent in 2021.
Support for abortion rights has increased, even as access to abortion has been radically curtailed in states around the country since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade nearly two years ago. Sixty-three percent of Americans said abortion should be legal in all or most cases, according to a recent Pew Research Center survey, a four-point jump since 2021, a year before the decision that overturned Roe.
