Given the recent discussion of Shut Up And Ruck’s strength programming, I thought it might be appropriate to address a few lingering comments.
First, we’re not immune to criticism. It is perfectly reasonable to criticize whenever and whoever you want, even me. Clearly, the anonymity of the internet provides ample license to do so. I’m not infallible and I make at least one mistake every fiscal year. I get downvoted all the time and I recognize that many things that I say are taken as gospel based on my years of providing accurate information. I don’t take this leniency lightly. I’ve earned this gift and I don’t look gift horses in the mouth. I certainly don’t shy away from criticizing others, but I always seek to do so from a position of best intentions of the outcome. But if you think that it’s appropriate to draw conclusions like “He definitely doesn’t know what he’s talking about”, “It violates basic principles”, or my favorite “It looks like he stole this from X, Y, or Z” and you’re basing that on one tiny screenshot of one sample day of one singular domain absent of context of the entirety of the programming then you must be special. I wish I had that sort of clairvoyance.
Second, our programming is not a mistake. Is it aggressive? Absolutely. Is it wrong? Absolutely not. It is deliberate and intentional. A few points to consider:
-The higher percentages and rep ranges occur at the end of each cycle. You don’t start off at the high end, you finish there. The passage cited is 9 weeks post 1RM testing. At a minimum the higher % come 5 weeks after testing. You get stronger and the programming reflects that.
-Just because you’ve never done anything like this doesn’t mean much. We follow the evidence, and the literature clearly indicates that our recommendations are appropriate. Aggressive, but appropriate. Here are 6 sources, including some meta-analyses that bring the body of knowledge to several hundred; there are many more.

Your experience not withstanding, our programming is entirely valid. This is especially true given the other variables. 1) we prioritize intensity and we manifest that through heavy weights 2) you only lift each exercise 2 times in every 5 day cycle - plenty of time for macro recovery 3) you are resting up to 4 minutes between sets - plenty of time for micro recovery 4) you are only doing 3 lifts in a day and only one for that domain - you aren’t doing 3 sets of barbell bench, then 3 sets of incline, then 3 sets of decline, then some cable cross-overs, then some dumbbell flys, then finishing with some drop sets on the Smith machine. 1 exercise, at maximal intensity. No need to pace yourself. 5) we are seeking to balance strength and endurance. It’s impossible to fully address both simultaneously. There will inevitably be friction. 6) we are seeking to challenge you, not accommodate you. 7) we emphasize self-reflection, data analysis, and agency. If you are struggling to meet the listed criteria then we encourage you to program accordingly. It’s foundational to our approach.
But allow me to let you in on a little secret. Even though we cite no small amount of literature, you can find lots of literature that argues against our programming. In fact, there is so much ‘literature’ out there that you can find supporting information for damn near everything and anything. So, back to my first point, you are welcome to criticize. But you should at least provide some counter-evidence beyond “in my experience”. In the Taxonomy of Information, anecdotal testimony is the least rigorous. We have presented our arguments, you are invited to present yours. Or be a little more graceful in your criticism.
We are well aware of Prilepin’s optimal reps (for powerlifting), and the NASM 5 Phase Optimum Performance Training Model (which we follow) and the NSCA Performance Pyramid (which we follow). We don’t disagree that they are to be well considered. We did a full and complete survey of the information environment. But we stated in our introduction and made available for free our philosophy…we have no interest in preserving the credentialed protectorate of the fitness industry. SFAS is different, so shall the programming be.
Third, we didn’t “steal” another program and stack it on top of our own stuff. That’s not how this works. If you survey all of the programs and methodology out there, you will find a ton of overlap. If you follow established principles and seek consensus, then you end up looking a lot like the other stuff. Did we look at other programs? Yes, dozens of them. Did we steal them? No. The fact that we favor a more intense program that most programs don’t should make this argument moot. This is a serious accusation and should be reserved for the most egregious circumstances. You might not have experience with this type of programming, you might not be familiar with recent literature, and you are only seeing a very minuscule event absent of any of the other programming and ancillary elements.
Fourth, and finally, I want to address the unhinged discussion of cost. We’re particularly sensitive to this topic because we know that our target population skews younger and likely less affluent, so cost matters. And I don’t like calling guys out necessarily, but u/Certain-Exam-2577 and u/Potential_Presence67 ? You two can go fuck yourselves. You anonymous peices of shit decided from your castles on top of Mount Holy that we are looking for a “money grab”? I could have charged hundreds, I could put all of my content behind a paywall, and I could simply pump and dump and walk away to stack cash. But that’s not the case.
What do you two fucking genius economists think would be appropriate for 8 months of daily programming for strength, conditioning, rucking, mental prep, mobility, skills, recovery and much more? We charge 60 dollars. Let’s take a very small survey the prep environment and see where we stack up:
Evoke - 3 months, requires additional programming prerequisites, $65
Performance First - 3 months, $90
18A Fitness - 4 months, $179
Gritty Soldier - 3 months, $30
Mountain Tactical - 12 months, $329
Blue/Green Training - 11 weeks, $129
We’re looking pretty competitive given these numbers. And these are the better programs. We mostly like them (and others) and we have tremendous respect for their creators and coaches. We don’t think they are as good as ours, especially our ruck programming, but they’re in the ballpark. Many guys in this sub have used them and speak highly of them. There are also near endless shit programs out there. AI generated, generic, point-of-sale trash with slick marketing and zero support.
We are a complete program that covers every single domain, and we have well established our expertise for SFAS. But we don’t rely on reputation, we deliver. We research, analyze, synthesize, and present the most comprehensive program out there. For just 60 bucks. Hell, you’ll spend over half that on a blank journal…we’ve recommended this excellent journal many times. But that’s just a cool journal. Zero programming. So we think we’re not “grabbing” too much.
Our resident pricks go on to say that RUSU wasn’t worth $50. Good thing we only charge $40. And perhaps you’d prefer the 15+ year old, lack-luster competition? They’re in the same price range. They even take a cheap shot at our Muster events as just a ‘wAlK iN tHe wOoDs tHaT yOu cOuLd do for FrEe’ or ‘info you could probably find online’. Our “competition” is $750 and one of the programs isn’t even taught by a military guy, much less a Green Beret. You two retarded laureates haven’t even attended an event, so your opinion is irrelevant.
And I should put a pin in all of this money grab, predatory, grifter talk by reminding them that this is all voluntary. You don’t have to spend a single dime if you don’t want to. Lots of guys don’t do anything extra and they get Selected all the time. But if a guy wants to be compensated for his hard work and another guy wants to allocate the cost of a night out drinking, then maybe your keen criticism could be stymied a bit. I offer plenty of free advice and commentary every day. I note that neither of you provide anything of value.
So, that’s my assessment of the situation. You don’t have to be a part of the conversation, but I thought that I should let you know how I see it. I endlessly tell you about the importance of foot care, so it’s only fair that I weigh in on this important topic. I should note that there was also some very reasoned comments and lots of guys understanding the intent of the programming AND of the program. And the OP reached out via DM and we had a very reasonable and productive discussion. He gets it. And the number of guys commenting is <1% of the number of guys reading the actual full program. I like that guys are passionate about this stuff. If you get 10 Green Berets in a room you’ll get 11 different opinions on damn near every topic. You know what they say about opinions…

I got the limited edition Byredo la grande decouvérte discovery set and it contains 24 fragrances. You pay around 200 euros and you get a 170 euro voucher to spend on a bottle of your choice. I think it's a great deal because you're only paying 30 euros for 24 x 2ml samples. I didn't think Byredo would be this generous TBH.
I quite enjoyed the fragrances in general. Most of them are on the minimal clean side, which is no surprise that all the stockholm girlies are rocking Byredo. It's true though that the longevity is below average on most of these fragrance which is shame given the fact that it's quite an expensive house. This could however work for some people who like more subtle fragrances.
Here is a quick review of all of them, from my favorites to least favorite:
Black Saffron: I think I'll be using the code to purchase a 50ml of Black Saffron. It's definitely one of the stronger ones (by no means great performance either). It's sharp and polished upon frist spray and you can smell a clean leather. Then it becoems a little sweeter in the dry down while retaining that clean leathery note.
Animalique: Another banger from Byredo! It's comforting leathery, clean and becomes powdery sweet in the dry down. Quite unique and really stands out. Good performance too.
De los santos: For all my Santal 33 lover, you should check this one out. It has some resemblance to S33 but it's more subtle. It's very serene and relaxing. It's not smokey like the name would suggest. I imagine this one on someone wearing linen clothes in the summer.
Super cedar: a sweet molecule fragrance. Ambroxan-forward. In the same family as Molecule 02 and Another 13 by Le labo. definitely up there in the list but Molecule 02 gives the same effect for less.
Bal d'afrique: everyone and there mother in Sweden wears Bal d'afrique and I understand why. It's woody, citrusy, sweet, powdery, clean all at the same time. It's a great amalgamation of notes and this would work in any situation. Nothing ground-breaking but I understand the hype. Do I even need to say it? the longevity is subpar.
Gypsy water: Sweet woody vanilla with a woodsy green background. Great fragrance and it reminded me a bit of Eau duelle from Diptyque.
Mojave ghost: Shampooey clean fragrance that smells really nice but it is fleeting. gone in an hour or two. Even though it smells nice, I think you could get a similar fragrance for under $50.
Bibliothèque: On the opening it remind me of middle eastern fragrances. Rosey and woody. In the dry down it becomes a fruity sweet fragrance with the plum being very prominent. This can give headaches because I found it quite strong.
Blanche: My favorite from the fresh fragrances. Fitting name, fresh sheets and laundry. Versatile.
Sundazed: Bitter citrus, fresh juicy, neroli and soapy.
Young rose: Citrus opening, then becomes floral and sweet in the dry down. Clean girl aesthetic.
Flowerhead: Garden with roses. Clean floral and it reminds me of my grandma, in a good way. Because she loves Omnia Bvlgari and it gives me a similar vibe.
........ Warning! It goes downhill from here.
Rose of no man's land: A dark rose. A bit generic imo because the DNA is very similar to other rose fragrances.
Inflorescence: Clean citrus. Boring, thank you next.
La tulipe: Clean floral green and boring.
Sunday cologne: Vetiver earthy masculine. Very designery. Not worth the price tag at all.
Mumbai rose: Dubai is the first word that came to my mind. sweet, spicy oudy and bitter espresso. Nothing new.
Rose noir: Sharp, dark, floral, herbal.
Slow dance: Spicy, sharp, old. BAD. No no
Oud immortel: Spicy dry middle eastern oud. It's no for me. Simply because it's not my style and this DNA is so common.
Eleventh hour: Alcoholy sweet with a spicy background. This is not it.
Mixed emotions: I wish I had mixed emotions towards this fragrance but no. I despise this fragrance. Acidic, smells like alcohol and dirty herbs.
Eyes closed: Remember the cinnamon challenge from years ago? This is exactly what it feel like. Imagine someone throwing a handfull of cloves and cinnamon powder at you. Pungent.
1996: The worst imo. A dry, burnt woody sauna. Suffocating.
Do I think the discovery set is worth it?
YES definitely. because the ones that smelled good were so worth it in my opinion. and the ones that I disliked could be someone else's favorite since we all have different tastes when it comes to fragrances. It was a pleasant olfactory experience.

It still surprises me that Most people on YouTube (the so-called Dropshipping gurus) still promise you that you will become rich in two weeks without hardly putting in any effort. Let me give it to you straight: nothing could be further from the truth. I’ve made well over seven figures with drop shipping and I also failed a lot. So let me share with you the information that is missing from 99% of what you see on YouTube.

1. Do NOT copy what’s already working

that’s one of the phrases they tell you most often. Just copy what’s already working and you’re done. Usually the method shown is researching your competitors, look at their best selling products and sell the same stuff. But think about it. If we are all doing that, in the long run, we’re all competing, only based on price, driving our profit margin down. Customers aren’t stupid and know they have seen that product somewhere else for a cheaper price. So do not go out and sell products everyone else is selling. Instead, make sure to do proper niche research. Select a niche first (you can download a guide containing 300+ niches for free in the links section of PassionsToProfits). Then spend some solid time, researching it deeply. Join private Facebook groups around your niche, go through all the posts to get into peoples minds and how they think, how they talk about products, what they value in terms of features and benefits, etc. Do the same thing on Reddit. Then look at best selling products in your niche on Amazon and look at the NEGATIVE reviews. That will tell you what can be improved. Those are good ideas for when you go out and research products. Only when you have done your homework, go onto websites like AliExpress and try to find unique products that hardly anyone is selling already. Yes, that takes time and work. And lots of patience. I have found a few of my bestsellers hidden on page 53 in the search results. Sometimes it took me two weeks before finding a really good product I could attempt to sell.

1. Advertise your products properly

By that I mean do not rip off someone else’s product video or image and run with it. Order a sample or two, analyze the product, use it yourself and shoot your own product video. Again, that takes work, but it will pay off. Make sure to show the main product benefits in the first few seconds of your video, followed by the characteristics/features and additionalinformation (instructions, assembly instructions, etc.).

1. You should NOT use drop shipping from China forever

It’s great for testing the validity of a product, but you should not use this business model for a long time. The main reason has to do with supply chain issues. It takes forever for products to arrive, and you can get away with it if your product is truly unique and people cannot get it elsewhere. But even then, two weeks is a long time for any product to arrive. So once you find a winning product, make sure to look for bulk order options and import it into your country to a local fulfillment warehouse. That way you can get products quickly to your customers doors, and also avoid the typical downtime during Chinese new year.

This is a long one but I’ll try to keep it brief. Note we live in Scotland.
Back in 2015, an ex-fling told me she was pregnant. Long story short, I was not involved. Briefly had contact after the child was born but haven’t since. At the time I was working bar work, had barely two pennies to my name. I did not pay anything majorly financial at the time, although did offer to pay for nappies, formula etc when I could. She did not want me on the birth certificate but my own anxiety and lack of funds meant that I was unable to go further. Fast forward a few months and I met my now wife. We had a child in 2018 and it was only at this point that she applied for child maintenance. The paperwork went to my parent’s address unknowingly so I did not receive it until I saw them several weeks later. I asked at the time for a DNA test but was told that financially they could not support me with this. And because I couldn’t, they assumed me as the father. I meet none of the other legal criteria for assumed paternity (were not married, never even lived together, I’m not on the bc).
Time has passed. I’ve paid every month because what else could I do? I couldn’t afford the DNA. I couldn’t afford the legal costs. So I kept paying and yes criticise me all you want but here we are.
So last year, I contacted cms again. Told them I want a DNA and asked if they could support financially. Surprisingly, despite me earning much more now, they said that they would pay the fee, then if the child is mine I would payback over a period of a few months. I went and gave my DNA sample. I eventually called them and they said this was very unusual but due to the child’s additional needs they were not going to do the DNA test but that I would either need to get legal help or continue paying.
She would not speak to me, and whenever we did briefly message to discuss this, she was often quite horrid. I tried to do mediation, she didn’t pick up their calls. So now I’m stuck. No one seems to be able to help. I do not qualify for legal aid. Citizens Advice only signposted me. And a solicitor wants £300 an hour plus court fees. None of that is doable for me.
I’ve now told her that the only way this can get sorted is if court action is taken, and so I will no longer be paying her. She has now said she will go through collect and pay meaning a 20% increase on payments I already struggle to give. I’ve always paid. But I can’t do this any longer. It seems that she can say whoever she wants is the father, yet won’t let me have a dna, won’t let me be on the birth certificate and she says he hates me.
So with collect and pay - what can I do? I know this seems drastic but at least if I don’t pay it would force them to look at all of this surely? She’s suddenly messaging me now despite ignoring previous messages, since I’ve told her this.

If you make use of raw controller input but you want to get something a little less jarringly precise to give the player better perceived fine-grained control, one of the easiest ways to do this is to make use of input sampling. The easiest way to accomplish it, is to collect controller input in a fixed-sized array every frame and then get the average of all recorded inputs to apply to the input that gets passed off to your transformations.
In my engine agnostic example you'll find GetSampledInput and SampleAxis to get sampled input from a controller joystick. In the first function you pass the index of where you are currently at in the samples array (you may have multiple sampling arrays with individual indices). Seeing as you record input every frame, this index goes up every frame and then loops back around to zero once the index is equal to the length of the sample array (it starts at -1 at the start of the programs execution). This way you will continuously overwrite your values frame by frame correctly. The included axis value then gets added to the samples array as well.
Then in SampleAxis I return the actual sampled input value that I want to use in place of the raw controller input to the rest of my code.
PLEASE NOTE: One drawback to this approach is that you can't have a sample rate that's too high or the player will perceive the input as lagging behind what they intended. You might want this for your purposes though depending on what kind of controller you are making. I tend to find that for precise player controllers, 10-20 samples is quite good but you'll have to experiment to find out what works for your use-case.

This is a demonstration about how to make an 808 play till you let go of the note on the keyboard. Basically you need to loop a very small part of a short 808 sample which is phase aligned to make sure there are no clicks heard.
Can I do this with sample one or any other stock sampler in studio one?
I've been able to do this in logic pro and Cubase so far. It would be great if I can do this in studio one

I know this might sound weird and I’m going to try to explain it better:
Let’s say I have a sample that I’m using of a note that is being played on the piano that holds out for about 3 seconds. I want it to actually hold out for about 10 seconds. Is there a way that I can manipulate the sample that way if I only have a 3 second sample I can actually have the note drag out for longer?
I tried option + drag the region and that does extend it, but then the speed change introduces certain artifacts. I tried looping the tail end of it and adding a cross fade but you can still hear the note basically being played again. I Iike taking sounds I like and putting it in quick sampler to play it as an instrument but the problem is if I get something that only rings out for a second or two I don’t have the option to let it really ring out for longer.

Hi guys! It's my first time ever posting on Reddit so bear with me. I live near Airport Blvd so I was really excited to hear that a new place opened sharing a space with Brazas Taco House. The reason I'm writing this is because of my experience there. Nothing bad, on the contrary, as soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner who was very friendly and offered me a sample of Horchata which was house-made! The entire time I had amazing customer service, from ordering, to when I was served my food I was treated very well. The place was basically empty though, I chalked it up to it being a soft-launch but the owner explained they had been open for a couple weeks but had some trouble getting the website up and having the location be available on Google Maps. I sympathized with him, especially since the food/drinks (I ordered the Korean Chicken Sandwich and a Michelada) was so good.
But it was after coming in a couple of days ago that I learned that a Starbucks was being built down the street. I was chatting with the cashier and she seemed a little worried about business. Still with a minimal crowd from the now four times I've been there, I understood what she meant. Living in East Austin I've seen a lot of family businesses come and go, no matter how good the food is. Most being pushed out by mega-corps. That's why I keep replaying this moment in my head.

After that interaction, napasama na'ko sa circle of friends niya. After a few months, unti unti kong napapansin na lagi kong inaabangan yung mga chats and mga rants niya, and lagi nalang siyang pumapasok sa isip ko(ang corny), lagi ko na ding inaantay yung mga aya niya late night walks namin (since ayaw niya magrant sa chat, gusto niya sa personal), nag start na din akong magcrochet and ibibigay ko sakanya (kunwari extrang gawa ko lang yun, or napapangitan ako kaya ko binibigay sakanya.)
He is very vocal sa mga crush niya na mga lalaki, minsan pag nag night walk kami "nagpopogi hunting" kami, and then one day, nung inaya ko siya mag night walk, napag usapan namin yung gender niya, na meron daw siyang crush na babae, then tinanong ko siya kung gay ba talaga siya or bi, hindi pa din daw siya sure, pero sobrang na a-attract siya sa mga lalaki. Can anybody explain this to me why I lose to much volume by the time I trigger the audio sample of the bass notes with my sampler?
I’m definitely not lowering my gain any when I render the audio.
Also just in general, how do I get my bass to pop more? I’m mixing in mono and am generally in phase.

After having emergency surgery and having all my samples sent to pathology…. There’s no proof of conception. The surgeon said to watch for pain because the ectopic could still be in there. I haven’t gotten my hcg blood test results yet, but my pregnancy test are still positive. I still have both tubes, she left them. She said they looked fairly normal besides the left one was swollen. Now I’m worried that maybe there is one in my left tube. The only thing is how can I tell the difference between surgery pain and ectopic pain? My surgery was Tuesday morning and I was in pain, but I had no idea I was badly internally bleeding. I had a cyst that burst (possibly containing the ectopic but it got expelled when it ruptured).
What was your pain after surgery? Did it cause pains in your sides? My left side feels like a pulled muscle when I move and aches here and there, but I just had surgery three days ago.
Note: hcg levels were 42 then 65 forty eight hours later. Then 96 hours later they were 99.
