2024.05.16 21:54 lsthmus 16 years ago, to this date, Aarushi Talwar and Hemraj Banjade were murdered. Who did it?

Today marks the anniversary of the murders of Aarushi Talwar and Hemraj Banjade.
Noida, India. 16th May 2008. A city that was for the more well off. It had many amenities, and you could say the middle and upper classes lived there.
Aarushi was the daughter of two dentists, and living with them was a full-time household helper Hemraj, 45. He was Nepalese and had been employed for around a year by the family, replacing another Nepalese helper after impressing the Talwars. Hemraj had a wife and family of his own back in Nepal. He would cook food for the family, was given a phone by them, and seemed trusted to be around Aarushi.
Aarushi was a well liked girl who was starting to take more interest in her appearance as she entered teenagehood. Her family were not particularly conservative by their own description. Aarushi had a boyfriend and often spoke to him over the phone. She had been talking to him on the phone on the days preceding her death as well as for 30 minutes at 9pm on 15/05/08.
Aarushi was conceived through IVF. She was an only child and of busy parents and often went to bed late after reading her books and chatting with friends. She had her own mobile and loved to take photos of herself. She did well at school and appeared your typical, happy teenage girl with everything going for her.
Aarushi was discovered in her bed with a fatal skull fracture and a slit throat. A few days after the decomposing body of Hemraj, the household servant, was found concealed on the rooftop terrace. Aarushi's parents Rajesh and Nupur Talwar claimed innocence and were acquitted of murder charges less than 4 years into their sentence. The other known suspects were never convicted due to lack of evidence.
Her parents allegedly discovered her, and the exact events of the night are disputed and hard to corroborate. This is due investigation was bungled from the start by lazy and inexperienced police work. A scene was not established at the earliest opportunity, and vital forensic samples were not recovered.
The parents alleged never hearing anything during the night, despite their bedroom being next door to Aarushis. They claimed a loud AC unit masked all outside sound.
There are multiple allegations of tampering with the crime scene by the parents of Aarushi, who invited over neighbours and family in the immediate aftermath of the supposed discovery of Aarushi's murder. In addition, there were multiple calls between the parents and their relative who was ex-police. In the days following the murder and accusations that were influencing the post-mortem report in order for any references to sexual assault be removed.
At every step of the investigation, there were frustrations and twists.
Questions
There were multiple law enforcement teams investigating the murders at different points. Their conclusions pointed to the parents or associates of Hemraj. The Noida police, UP police, and CBI all investigated.
There are a lot of theories as to what happened. I have found myself reflecting on certain facts/points rather than formulating a brand new theory.
16 years in there is likely never to be any fresh evidence to examine.
Aarushi
Edit: Forgot to mention that Aarushi's boyfriend angle is significant too.
RIP Aarushi and Hemraj
Thanks for reading.

2024.05.16 17:23 MolokoBespoko The unsuccessful search for Moors Murders victim, Keith Bennett, on Saddleworth Moor between September and October 2022

This story has been gaining some small online traction over the past couple of days, and Russell Edwards has been namedropped again by Keith Bennett’s brother, Alan Bennett, on social media. I want people to be in no doubt about what Edwards did back in 2022, and I want to make sure that the following ranks near the top of Google searches too so that people can easily find information that discredits this complete and utter charlatan.
Header photo description and credits: Greater Manchester Police employing a drone in the excavation of the site searched for the remains of Keith Bennett on Saddleworth Moor, 2nd October 2022. Manchester Evening News

Who is Russell Edwards?

Edwards is a self-proclaimed “amateur detective”, who has for many years invested a lot of his own time and money in trying to get to the bottom of numerous infamous unsolved cases. He has claimed to have identified Jack the Ripper as a Polish barber named Aaron Kosminski, and wrote a book about his “findings” called “Naming Jack the Ripper” - which have since been called into question along with the credibility of both Edwards and the forensic scientist he collaborated with in regards to both Jack the Ripper and the Moors Murders, Jari Louhelainen.
Edwards also runs a Jack the Ripper guided walking tour in London. I won’t link to it because a) I don’t want to drive up clicks to it and b) the website contains a lot of misinformation as well as graphic autopsy images of Ripper victims without warning. I initially thought he had stopped doing these, but the most recent review listed on there was from January of this year.
He claimed to have started looking into Keith Bennett’s disappearance in 2015, but had been interested in the case since around the time the remains of another Moors Murders victim, Pauline Reade, were discovered in 1987.

The known facts of Keith Bennett’s disappearance and murder

Keith was walking to his grandmother’s house on the evening of 16th June 1964 when he was abducted by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. According to their accounts, he was driven up to Saddleworth Moor and endured sexual assault before he was strangled to death and buried in a shallow grave. There is a detailed and extensive write-up on Brady’s and Hindley’s conflicting accounts linked here. Tragically, to this day Keith Bennett remains the only one of the couple’s victims whose remains were never recovered.
I would strongly encourage everybody to read these FAQs around the search for Keith too. I wrote these up a while ago, and Alan himself has been kind enough to contribute to them as well after the fact.

The 2022 “findings”

First off, here’s where exactly Edwards made his “discovery” in relation to where the other bodies were found. I should state that this area consists of plenty of gullies and peat soil. If you click on the 2022 Search on Saddleworth Moor flair, you‘ll see everything we discussed in this subreddit as the search was being carried out. But I will recap what happened anyway.
In a statement published on 30th September 2022, GMP Force Review Officer Martin Bottomley said:
“At around 11.25am on Thursday 29th September 2022, Greater Manchester Police was contacted by the representative of an author who has been researching the murder of Keith Bennett, a victim of Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. Following direct contact with the author, we were informed that he had discovered what he believes are potential human remains in a remote location on the Moors and he agreed to meet with officers yesterday afternoon to elaborate on his find and direct us to a site of interest.
“The site was assessed late last night and, this morning, specialist officers have begun initial exploration activity. We are in the very early stages of assessing the information which has been brought to our attention but have made the decision to act on it in line with a normal response to a report of this kind.”
It was first reported in the Daily Mail that a “skull” had been found, although the same article then went on to say that “detectives are preparing to exhume a particular area where suspected skeletal remains have been found including what experts believe to be a child’s upper jaw with a full set of teeth”. It was also reported that a small piece of blue and white striped material, and potential samples of body tissue (although this was later discredited as a probable mixture of vegetation and muddy water), had been found.
Edwards had claimed he and his team had conducted extensive soil analysis of the area, which they had discovered 4 weeks before. There were high levels of calcium, which can indicate the presence of human remains (but the team did not mention that it also indicates the presence of limestone or another high calcium natural material). Describing the dig, he said “the smell hit me about 2ft down. Like a sewer, like ammonia. I worked as a gravedigger when I was 19. It hits you, that smell of death. It is distinctive.”
Alan Bennett later stated that the smell was probably methane - of which there are pockets containing it across the moor. Edwards also falsely stated that everything was left in situ - more on that in the paragraph after the next one.
On Saturday 1st October, Greater Manchester Police issued a statement saying that “no identifiable human remains have been found” - despite what several tabloid and local newspapers had been reporting. It was confirmed that drones were being used in the search on the 2nd October, and a statement issued by GMP later that day confirmed that excavation of the site will continue for the foreseeable future.
Edwards and members of his team started posting on Facebook and declaring that Keith Bennett had already been found. On 2nd October, Jari Louhelainen, a Senior Lecturer in Molecular Biology at Liverpool John Moores University and a member of Edwards’ team, posted a photo of himself analysing what he suspected was a “bunch of hair” from the dig site. He later confirmed in the comments of his post (after being called out for posting it in the first place) that it was a “look-a-like plant material”.
On 4th October, Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Hughes, of GMP’s Force Review Unit, said: “Forensic Archaeologists and Forensic Anthropologists have now completed a methodical archaeological excavation and examination of the area previously dug and refilled by the member of the public. No bones, fabric or items of interest were recovered from the soil.
“These accredited and certified forensic experts are now continuing with a methodical and controlled excavation of the area immediately surrounding the original site to provide a higher level of assurance of the presence or absence of any items of interest. Further soil samples have been taken for analysis, but at this time there is no visible evidence to suggest the presence of human remains. The scene examination is ongoing.
“A report of possible human remains is always treated with seriousness. As such, we have deployed police search advisors who can support our scenes of crimes officers – this will result in more visible and high profile tactics, such as officers walking in lines to identify any potential sites of focus.
“GMP is committed to providing Keith’s family with answers following this report, both from the physical excavation and subsequent analysis of samples. This will take some time but we will keep the family updated at every stage and request that their privacy is respected.
“We have seen the outpouring of support since this news broke so know how our communities feel about this case but we are asking members of the public not to travel to the area and can assure them that we will provide timely and appropriate updates.”
At 2pm on 7th October 2022, Greater Manchester Police announced that they had closed the scene on Saddleworth Moor after finding no evidence to indicate the presence of human remains. “At this time, there is no evidence of the presence of human remains.”
Assistant Chief Constable Sarah Jackson, portfolio holder for crime, said: “We have always said that we would respond, in a timely and appropriate manner, to any credible information which may lead us towards finding Keith. Our actions in the last week or so are a highly visible example of what that response looks like, with the force utilising the knowledge and skills of accredited experts, specialist officers and staff. It is these accredited experts and specialists who have brought us to a position from where we can say that, despite a thorough search of the scene and ongoing analysis of samples taken both by ourselves and a third party, there is currently no evidence of the presence of human remains at, or surrounding, the identified site on Saddleworth Moor. However, I want to make it clear that our investigation to find answers for Keith’s family is not over.
“We understand how our communities in Greater Manchester feel about this case, the renewed interest in it and the shared desire to find Keith. Much of Saddleworth Moor is private land so we would ask that members of the public, in the first instance, report any perceived intelligence to their local police service. The discovery of suspected human remains must be reported immediately to enable the use of specialist resources to investigate appropriately.”
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Hughes said: “The investigation into Keith’s disappearance and murder has remained open since 1964 and it will not be closed until we have found the answers his family have deserved for so many years. We are thankful for their continued support of our ongoing enquiries. This has been a distressing time for them and we ask that their privacy is respected.
“We understand the confusion which may have been caused to Keith’s family and communities across Greater Manchester by reports to the contrary. We hope that by giving this detailed update today, we provide reassurance that GMP are committed to finding accurate answers for Keith’s family.
“In response to the report made on Thursday 29 September 2022, officers met with the member of the public who later provided us with samples and copies of the photographs he had taken. He also took officers to the location from which he had obtained these and provided grid references.
“In the days since, independent accredited forensic archaeologists and certified forensic anthropologists, together with GMP’s Crime Scene Investigators, have completed a methodical forensic archaeological excavation and examination of the identified area and beyond. An accredited forensic geologist also took a number of soil samples – analysis of which is ongoing.
“The items given to us by the member of the public have been examined by a forensic scientist and though this hasn’t yet indicated the presence of human remains – more analysis is required. With regards to the photograph, we have sought the assistance of a forensic botanist. We are now utilising the knowledge and skills of a forensic image expert to put a standard anthropological measurement to the object to assist with identification. At this stage, the indications are that it would be considerably smaller than a juvenile jaw and it cannot be ruled out that it is plant-based.
“The excavation and examination at the site is complete and, to reiterate, we have found no evidence that this is the burial location of Keith Bennett.”

Aftermath

It was discovered that two of Edwards’ team members, Lesley Dunlop (a geologist) and Dawn Keen (a forensic archaeologist) were not accredited professionals in their respective fields. Alan Bennett clarified in a Facebook post on 5th November 2022, in reference to Keen:
“Any professional archaeologist would ask for a scale in any pictures or video taken at a scene [in reference to the fact that police confirmed the object found was too small to be a juvenile jaw], that was not the case here and the reason police had to call in a photographic specialist to determine the scale of the supposed jawbone..which turns out to be too small for a child from what I've been told so far and, of course couldn't be found anyway and could only have been vegetation if anything at all.”
I am not entirely sure what the “blue and white striped fabric” turned out to be - I assume that nothing was found.
Alan has since posted evidence that Russell Edwards had been planning the “discovery of Keith’s remains” as part of a stunt to promote his upcoming book on the case - a book that Edwards has been radio-silent about since all of this controversy.
Edwards has refused to apologise to Keith’s family and despite being proven wrong, and him and his team being called out for the charlatans they are (with even him admitting that his own reputation is in tatters), as of December 2022 he stood by his actions and his claims that he believed he had found Keith’s body.
To my own understanding (though I do not speak on behalf of Alan Bennett or on behalf of anybody who was involved in this whole debacle, let me be clear), there has been complete radio-silence on news of Edwards’ book since this date.

2024.05.15 19:43 Equation56 The Very Suspicious Death of Noah Presgrove (Comanche, Oklahoma)

Hi Everyone!
This is my first write-up of any kind of unresolved mystery, on any platform, so I apologize for any formatting errors and my storytelling ability. Today I would like to hear your thoughts on the very mysterious death of Noah Presgrove, a 19 year old from Comanche Oklahoma. I have tried to be as thorough as possible with the details, but there is a great deal of conflicting information in the news reports, so I primarily used facts stated by Noah's family in interviews. With that said, let's begin...
Noah Presgrove was a handsome, athletic 19 year old from Comanche Oklahoma, which is located just south of Oklahoma City in the middle of the state. Noah had recently graduated high school in the spring of 2023 and was waiting for his cousin to do the same the following year so they both could enlist in the Marine Corp together and serve our country. By all accounts Noah was a ladies man, standing at 6'2" with an athletic build, in high school he was a 4-sport athlete with American Football and Wrestling among them. His family also says he was adventurous, kind and very much a jokester who would happily play pranks on his family. Last Labor Day weekend, the first weekend of September 2023, Noah was deciding between attending Rocklahoma, an annual 3-day hard rock and metal festival held in Pryor, Oklahoma, with family members or attending a 4-day Labor Day weekend bash/22nd birthday party of a friend. Noah considered going to Rocklahoma, but changed his mind when the family members he'd be attending with said they didn't think it was a good idea for Noah's 16 year old friend to join them there, since they didn't know this friend's family and Rocklahoma is big for consuming alcohol. With that, everyone went their own way to celebrate the holiday weekend.
The Labor Day/Birthday party was for a female friend of Noah's who was turning 22. It had been advertised on Snapchat, even containing the address, so quite a few people were expected to attend. Noah drove himself to the party on Saturday and by all accounts enjoyed himself. He did text his family member who was at Rocklahoma and express regret at not going with them, but it doesn't appear that this put too much of a damper on his attitude at the house party. After spending Saturday at the birthday girl's house, Noah returned home Sunday, probably to freshen up and take care of any outstanding errands or just check in with his grandmother, with whom he lived. Also, Noah's car was leaking from the oil pan, so it sounds like part of the reason to return home was to leave it there so he wouldn't have to worry about it. There are two stories about what happened next: The first is that one of Noah's friends picked him up from his house on Sunday, but took him to a truck stop so he could grab some food from the Sonic there. Oddly, the friend who took him there says he left him there and Noah was then given a ride to the party by the birthday girl, who had to come pick him up. The other story is that his best friend picked him up from his house and took him directly to the party, leaving him in the driveway. Either way, Noah was back at the party on Sunday and according to those present, was very much enjoying himself. There were videos from the party showing Noah and his friends doing "guy things" like the Slap Game, where two people try to slap each other across the face as hard as they can. Just "macho" drunken teenage guy things. There was also video from the party of the guests playing "classic" party games such as beer pong.
With all the drinking going on, some issues were bound to arise. A confrontation happened between Noah and his best friend. Noah had been in a corner with his best friend's girlfriend and apparently they had their backs to everyone else while talking. The best friend took exception to this and an argument ensued. Luckily, it did not become physical and they made up shortly after, but this event with the best friend and his girlfriend is important for later. A second confrontation occurred between Noah and a 16 year old guest that did become physical. The 16 year old accused Noah of hiding his phone, although the reasons why he thought Noah did it have not been stated. During the argument the kid "fishhooked" Noah and Noah returned the favor by biting his finger. It seems like the other people there were able to diffuse the situation and the kid's phone was found underneath another guest who was sleeping on a couch. As the day went on, things continued to become crazier as the people at the party drank more and more. At one point girls at the party started signing their names on Noah's torso and buttocks, writing things such as "Noah's hot!" and drawing a cartoon penis on his rear-end. Noah and the best friend he had the argument with even drove a John Deere "Gator" UTV "Side by Side" around the property, but stopped when Noah scrapped his hand almost flipping it over. Some people even say that Noah was tossed from the UTV, but he was checked out by a nurse at the party and she said he had nothing to worry about. Another event worth mentioning is that the birthday girl seemed to have a crush on Noah. Noah realized this, or was told this, and while talking to her about it called her a "fat, nasty b*tch". I assume that they were close friends and this is just a drunken teen being a drunken teen. An odd thing to mention is that this girl's mother, who also lives in the home, had told Noah's family that she believed Noah wanted her sexually. Whether this is true or not, I have no clue, but it seems a very weird thing to say to the family of a 19 year old your daughter is friends with.
So here's where the mystery comes in. Early Monday morning (September 4th, 2023), after 2:00am, the guests say that Noah was upset about something and that it might have had to do with sleeping in either the birthday girl's or her mother's bed. One of them either heard, or saw, Noah attempting to sleep in their bed and demanded that he go on the floor. This apparently upset Noah so much that he said he needed to go out for a walk, completely drunk, very early in the morning. The guests say Noah was wearing his best friend's shorts (we'll get to his clothes later) and could only find one of his shoes, so he grabbed another shoe lying around the house and took off out the front door. The house had a 1/2 mile long driveway that then went out to US-81, a major North-South highway that runs for 1,200+ miles through the central US. At 3:41am, a friend of Noah's posted a weird Snapchat: a photo of a girl at the party smiling, with the caption "well, Noah's missing". This was the last Snapchat posted by any of the partygoers after days of constant videos and pics. Around 5:00am, a semi-truck driving along US-81 saw something he believed to be a body lying on the shoulder of the road. After driving past, he became concerned and turned around to confirm what he saw. By the time he got back, two other vehicles had stopped in front of the lifeless body of Noah on the shoulder. He was completely naked wearing only 2 mismatched shoes and curled up in a fetal position. He appeared to have blunt force trauma to the back of his head. He had small scrapes on his left shoulder and left hip and his fingertips on both hands were reported as being "shredded", down to the bone. Noah's front top and bottom teeth had also been knocked out and they were found scattered at the scene. There was no blood found at the scene, other than a small amount around Noah's injuries. Very concerning was the fact that there was no writing on his body anywhere. Not on his torso and not on his buttocks. The shorts Noah was wearing were found folded up next him. The people at the party said "They must've been knocked off when he was hit.", which obviously does not make sense.
Around 6:00am, with the police already notified by the people who found Noah, all Snapchat's/social media from people at the party was deleted. His friends and acquaintances at the party say they have no idea what led up to his death and they were unaware of it. The police did not search the house because they said: "Noah wasn't found there.". They did eventually conduct a "mass" interview with all the partygoers. During this interview, Noah's best friend's girlfriend, the one that led to his first confrontation, told police she had never met Noah. She had wiped her phone so completely that even her boyfriend's number had been deleted. When the guests were asked about Noah being naked, the girls said they gave Noah a "shower", but Noah's mental state at the time, whether mildly drunk or completely inebriated, has been an area of dispute among the guests. Some say he was joking around and being himself while being showered, other accounts state that he was barely conscious. Noah's clothing he wore to the party that night has never been located. Police were told that after Noah showered his clothes were dirty, so he wore his friend's shorts. There is a rumor that his best friend's father found Noah's shirt from the party, which was then cut-up and distributed to the party attendees as a "memento". In addition to this event with his shirt, there is also information that his best friend's father had some of Noah's teeth in his pocket. He stated he "accidentally" picked them up from the crime scene. It's worth stating that this particular individual has been on Noah's family's Facebook memorial page for months, arguing with others on there. Just very odd behavior from an adult father who's son's best friend died mysteriously. But, on this same topic, NONE of the partygoers or their families have ever visited Noah's family to express their condolences. Never once.
Since Noah's friends and others at the party said they didn't know what happened, the police had their work cut out for them. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol obtained a "geofence" warrant covering a 1-1/2 mile radius around the party house. What they found was a bit disturbing. Around the time it is believed Noah died, 2 phones were traced as having left the house, heading to the location of his body. After briefly staying there, the two phones returned to the house. People at the party told a private investigator hired by Noah's family that they went out looking for Noah in the UTV/Gator that Noah and his friend had been on earlier. If they had really done this, they would have found him since the phones were at the spot Noah was found. It has not been released who exactly this was. Also revealed when police searched phones was a video of the birthday girl and her sister on their front porch, screaming at each other about Noah leaving the party. It is believed that this could be relevant. The Texas Rangers also became involved, due to the fact that two men at the party were from Texas. It is not known if these men are persons of interest. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol also quietly issued a warrant for a "black pick-up truck" believed to have been used to dump his body, but it is unknown why they are looking for this particular vehicle. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has unequivocally stated that this was 100% NOT a hit-and-run. They have now also said that this is NOT a murder investigation. The Medical Examiner's report released on Monday, May 13th 2024 stated that Noah died from "Multiple Blunt Force injuries", but list the manner in which this happened as "unknown". His report also detailed extensive injuries to the teen's upper body, including 10 broken ribs, serious skull, neck, and spine fractures, internal bleeding, brain and organ damage, and cuts and grazes all over his body. The autopsy also revealed air in both his cranial cavity and spinal cord, extremely rare conditions only caused by massive head trauma. The family has heard rumors that a golf club from the set in his best friend's truck may have been involved, but nothing else has come of this.
The family has engaged with a private investigator, who did uncover previously unknown information, and gave that to the police. They have also said that there is much more which has not been publicly released and that the search of the phones did uncover good information. Also according to the family, some evidence has been covered-up or lost and that the day after the party, the birthday girl's house and property reeked of bleach. Despite this, his family says good things are going on behind the scenes.
So, with all of the above information, it doesn't seem to be a stretch to say that someone from the party knows something. It is my personal belief that this case will be resolved, but I think three things will have to happen: Time, Pressure and Guilt. At some point in the future, someone from the party will feel guilty, or media pressure will get to them and they will talk. Unfortunately, it may take some time unless the police uncover new evidence sooner. Thank you very much for reading this, but please let me know your thoughts on this case and feel free to ask questions.

2024.05.15 01:26 GrimmestGhost_ Afton the Undying and the Stitchline Conundrum

Afton the Undying and the Stitchline Conundrum
So this was originally going to be a rather simple post going over Afton's seeming regeneration between appearances, but in order to have the full picture I finally did something I've avoided doing up until now: I read some Frights stories. The Man in Room 1280 and all the Stitchline Epilogues specifically. And ohhhh boy, what an experience that was.
Let's start with my original question: what causes Afton's regeneration?
https://preview.redd.it/hant5shteg0d1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6f09e8e633b35c28bf2e983b7b332e1dde4e24e9
After his "death" Afton lay abandoned in the Freddy's safe room for 30 years. During this time he made no attempt to escape, and as far we know, just lay there dormant. All that's left on his body is his skeleton, which has a reddish tint, and some strangely well-preserved and illogically scattered chunks of organic matter. He also is unable to talk (something further confirmed by UCN) and despite his soul being aware of where he is, he's forced to abide by the endoskeleton's programming to follow noise.
https://preview.redd.it/8ivd5orsfg0d1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1cf5672834e0544b6a39868b03e58973193aa651
The next time we see Afton is after the Fazbear's Fright fire, where he can be seen emerging from the rubble looking not that worse than he did in FNAF3. The odd thing at this point though is that we know extreme heat can neutralizes the effects of remnant, which is what allows for "possession" to happen. How the fire didn't have this effect on Afton is unexplained, but quite noteworthy.
https://preview.redd.it/flq24hvdgg0d1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=820296622d86ed26f518dd728885d456c428342a
After an indeterminate period of time passes, Afton shows up at Henry's trap. Here he looks very different. He's completely changed the Spring Bonnie suit, and not quite visible in this photo, his "corpse" inside has completely changed. The bone structure is different, his bones have returned to a white-ish color, he has gained new chunks of matter all over, and overall appears to have more organic matter than he did as Springtrap, with the exception of his missing left arm. He also can talk now, and has an audible heartbeat. Furthermore he seems to no longer be bound by the endo's programming. He's fully in control at this point.
So what caused this change?
The easy answer is remnant. It's be demonstrated multiple times to have healing properties on living matter. The most obvious example of this is Michael Afton, who after having his skeleton and organs removed, was able to recover after Ennard left him as a pile of rotting skin. We see him walk, talk, and more, indicating a complete regeneration of his skeleton, brain, vocal chords, and more.

There's a notable difference between the two though. Michael's remnant came from the scooper; pure liquid metal remnant kept at an ideal temperature, the exact same kind of remnant we see Dr. Talbert use in Frights to heal (what he thinks is) his daughter. While remnant can seemingly be created by any combination of memory, emotion, and physical object, the only kind we've seen that causes regeneration is when it is in a liquid metal form. It's not impossible to assume Afton made his way to his bunker and used some on himself in-between FNAF3 and FFPS, but we have no evidence of him doing so, so I don't like to assume that's the case. In which case we're left with a mystery as to how Afton seems to be regenerating.
This leads us into The Man in Room 1280. Set quite a long time after FFPS (in other stories the fire was implied to be a while ago) we see that Afton's corpse in still, for all intents, alive. He has a pulse, heartbeat, his lungs breath, and he displays awareness of his surroundings, despite being described as little more than a charred skeleton with a thin layer of skin over it. He also notably has his left arm back (again indicating that his body is regenerating itself), and is said to be constantly leaking unidentified black and green liquids in addition to blood. Once again we're left questioning why the fire didn't burn out any remnant left in his body, only this time we might have an answer.
Andrew's spirit is also present, haunting Afton and causing him to have terrible nightmares. It's possible Andrew is the one keeping Afton alive (and this certainly lines up with UCN), but at the same time, Afton's spirit is fighting back. While reviewing brain scans, the head nurse remarks
"Two signals," she jabbed each lobe, "means two living things. Two entities. They're both vying for control of the brain; that's why they're present in all of the lobes. But they're at odds with each other. We think they're tormenting each other."
So Afton's soul is still aware, and actively fighting against Andrew's. Andrew is indeed partially keeping Afton alive (he foils several attempts to kill Afton), but Afton's soul is also fighting for it's own survival. He also still has a level of autonomy, illustrated by his desire to go to the Fazbear Distribution Center. When taken there, Afton's body explodes into a pile of unidentified liquid.
So while it seems Afton is being kept alive by Andrew, he's also kind of not? The other problem with Andrew is that if Andrew's spirit has been attached to Afton since he (Andrew) died, why wait until now to torment Afton? What was he doing during all those years Afton was in the safe room, or during FNAF3? When did his spirit attach to Afton?
(Side question time, but what's the significance of the Distribution Center, why/how did Afton know what would happen when he went there, and why didn't Andrew make any attempt to stop him from being moved there?)
After Taggart puts the Stitchwraith together, and some shenanigans later, Jake has collected all the items Andrew infected when Afton exploded and is planning to destroy them. Before they can do that though, Afton emerges from inside the junk and attempts to keep Andrew from moving on. Jake gets Andrew to move on and Afton decides instead to create a monstrous body out of the trash.
What's interesting about this body is that despite being made from trash and old animatronic parts, Afton in this body also seems to be regenerating organic matter.
"The skidding devolved into a snarling wet popping sound. It reminded Larson of the autopsies he sometimes had to attend. A corpse made a similar sound when its ribcage was being parted and its organs were being removed."
and later in the story:
"Then unidentifiable fluids began spilling from the deconstructing trash. As they flowed, Afton stumbled backward, one short step from the end of the dock. Larson's legs gave out. He dropped to the deck and sat with both hands pressed to his lower stomach, his eyes wide and staring as blood started pouring from the trash rabbit's mouth. The blood sluiced over the plastic, metal, bone, and wire, and it mixed with the other fluids to flow like hot tar onto the warped planks of the dock."
Afton falls apart after Eleanor drains his remnant/agony and ditches, with the pieces of his new body falling into the lake. Also Charlie's there too for some reason but didn't really do anything?
In later epilogues we learn that Eleanor was also present at the hospital, feeding off the agony of the Afton/Andrew battle, which brings us to another possibility: is Eleanor the one keeping Afton alive? She is a parasitic entity that feeds on remnant, and Afton is a prime source of that, but she's also not present with him all the time. She's all over the place feeding, and we don't have any proof of her being around, or what she was doing, prior to the FFPS fire.
The other notable thing that happens during the Trash-Afton fight is that at one point Larson gets stabbed by Afton, something Jake is concerned about.
"The detective would know, of course, that he'd been stabbed, but he'd think that was all that had happened. He would think the injury was bad, but what he didn't know was that the injury itself wasn't the problem. The problem was that when the trash monster stabbed the detective, it infected him with the spirit of the horrible man who animated it."
Jake would later channel energy from a battery pack to heat up his animatronic hands and use it on Larson's wound, curing the infection. Once again showing us that remnant can indeed be removed by heat. But what is this infection, and what effect would it have had on Larson? Presumably when Afton exploded at the Distribution Center he infected the toys there much like Andrew had, but what would've happened when he infected a living being?
Everything Afton did was to find a way to make himself immortal. Was this how he planned to do it? Become a living infection that could take control of both the living and machine? But if so, when did he learn how to do this? It is notable in FFPS that he knows the whole thing is "a trap", but says he couldn't resist checking it out, implying that it wasn't his main goal. So what was his main goal, and could it have been related to what he does in Frights? What was he doing before he got caught in the fire?
But none of this really answers the question that sent me down this entire rabbit (heh) hole: why is Afton regenerating his body? His remnant survived two fires that should've burned it away, but how? Andrew? Eleanor? Is he a mutant with healing powers?
It isn't only in the main continuity either, as in Silver Eyes he's also shown to have survived a springlock accident that should've killed him.

(Other side question, but is he just... not wearing clothes under the suit?)
So what going on with this guy and why is he so hard to kill? This ended up being way longer than I intended, but thanks for reading lol

2024.05.14 00:29 Able-Connection9445 Create a over-complicated murder plan for a AA7 final case

It takes place in a giant beach resort with multiple levels
You play as athena
You must defend two people
The murders happened at night when everybody was in the beach throwing a party, only 10 people stayed in the hotel
Defendant 1 is the security guard, defendant 2 is the detective of a mysterious case
There are two murderers, one is the doctor who does the autopsy reports and the other is the journalist who is reporting the case and also reported cases 1 and 3 who is actually a mafia leader
Victim 1 is the owner of the hotel, victim 2 is the rival of the doctor and victim 3 is the mafia leader's rival
In day 1,the case seems impossible, the room was covered with blood that had the first defendant's name written on it,the room was also locked and the defendant was inside it,not only that, but the weapon also belonged to the first defendant
Meanwhile, the second defendant has a strange situation, since the body was found in the middle of the garden, with no blood, with only the second defendant's fingerprints being found in the victim
But then, athena realizes something while analyzing the photo took in a closet inside the room of the first victim, there is a blood stain in the top of the closet, and then she realizes, there is a secret passage in the top of the rooms that leads to a secret room in the floor above, she then requests one more day to investigate the new-found discovery, and then the lights go out for 10 minutes
When the lights come back on,the second defendant is missing, they then start a search for her, they find her in the basement of the resort, tied and with ammenesia, but while searching for her,two witnesses go missing
Pearl fey and trucy join you in your investigations this day
In the day 2 investigation, you discover that the victim was killed in the second floor secret room
Day 2 has you try to discover who kidnapped the second defendant and the two witnesses, who killed the first victim, and who killed the second victim
Through hints, evidence, witnesses and clues you discover that only three people could have killed the first victim, the butler, the maid and the guard
Its revealed tho, that the second victim was killed in the second floor secret room by being stabbed, and then cleaned before being dropped from the second floor into the garden, the culprit then killed the first victim when they came into the room, before dropping them into the first floor, the culprit then made it so that it looked like the victim was killed in the second floor, but then the defendant entered, due to him losing his sleeping pills,he then knocked him out and made him look like the culprit, but paranoid that they would discover the second floor,he cleaned the blood from the second victim and then replaced it with the blood from the first victim,he then cleaned the blood from the second victim
They then discover that the maid saw something unexpected in the hall,a man standing there in the hallway, but while checking the basement where defendant 2 was kept, they found a trace of a mannequin, and then while checking the locks of the emergency basement exit, they find oil,and then they realize, the doctor was the murderer
His reasoning for murder is that victim 2 ruined his life by revealing his big secret, that he had to secretly work as a mafia doctor so that he could cure his daughter, victim 1 just entered the room by accident
Day 3 then has something crazy happen,a third body was found, three days old,and the doctor is blamed for it due to the victim being a mafia leader who was blackmailing the doctor for money
The doctor is innocent tho, even through he did admit he planned to kill the third victim
So,now you must defend the doctor from this one crime
Meanwhile,a radio appears in the courtroom, and in it the two kidnapped witnesses can talk, but limited
Its then revealed that in the night, while everybody was in the front of the hotel, partying, the third culprit was commiting a super complicated and complex murder
The two witnesses saw the presence of a strange figure who seems to be the doctor, but then, while looking through the photos taken in the party by lotta hart who was there to report it,trucy notices something,a figure in one of the windows, said figure is the journalist who reported cases 1 and 3
He is called out to court,he then discovers that he was caught,so he calls his workers and force everyone to let him get away free, athena calls for a investigation of a past trial that caused the murders in case 3,4 and 5,where its revealed that he was the culprit,he the says congratulations to athena for figuring it out, before attempting to kill her,but then a big twist happens
His man were actually, the 5 culprits of case 3,the attempted murder victim of case 3,the witnesses of case 4,and half of the characters in case 5,who were all victims of this past case
He then has a breakdown before being taken out of court and then shot by them all(only sounds)
What did you guys think?

2024.05.13 00:12 Trash_Tia A dead boy has been hunting me down my whole life. On my 18th birthday, I finally understand why.

I've always been bound to death.
On my eighth birthday, a shadow strode into my house and shot me and my family dead. I remember it vividly, every detail, every angle, etched and stained and carved into my memory.
I sat very still with my knees to my chest, my gaze glued to my siblings.
Lily and PJ looked like they were sleeping, and I could almost believe it.
I didn't look at the shadow.
From the comfort of my knees, I waited for my brother to lift his head.
But his body was so limp, so still, every part of him faltering. My sister’s head was nestled in his shoulder, thick beads of red running down her face.
They're just sleeping.
I could tell myself they were— as long as I didn't look at the splatter of scarlet staining the back of the couch and pooling at their feet.
BANG.
Mom’s body dropped onto the ground.
I lunged forwards, slamming my hands over my ears.
BANG.
PJ’s head slumped forwards, a teasing smile still frozen on his lips.
BANG.
Lily gently tipped into PJ, like she was going to sleep.
Before she closed her eyes, Mom told me to run.
I can't remember how long I stayed under the shattered remnants of Mom’s favorite table. The shadow was waiting for me to move, to make a noise.
I watched booted feet crunch through glass, getting closer and closer, and slowly, fight or flight began to take over.
Making it halfway across the living room, my palms slick with my mother’s blood, I thought I was going to live.
Cruel fingers wound their way through my hair and shoved me to my knees. I remember the phantom legs of a spider creeping down the back of my neck when the shadow with no face dragged the barrel of his gun down my spine.
“Turn around.”
The shadow had a voice.
When I didn't move, the protruding metal stabbed into my neck.
“Turn around, kid!”
I did, very slowly.
Behind him, my siblings still weren't moving.
They were asleep.
Lily was still smiling, strawberry blonde ringlets stained red.
I couldn't see PJ’S face anymore.
BANG.
I didn't feel the gunshot.
I didn't feel anything.
Looking down, I glimpsed slowly spreading red blossoming like a flower.
It felt like being cut from strings.
I hit the ground, just like my mother, my body felt heavy and wrong.
Paralysed.
I remember being unable to scream, unable to cry, the salty taste of metal filling my mouth. It was like being winded. Rolling onto my side, all I could see was flickering candlelight.
The air was thick, so hard to breathe.
I rolled onto my back trying to suck in air.
The shadow took a step back, opened the front door, and bled into the night.
I don't remember the pain, and I don't remember dying. I couldn't breathe, couldn't conjure words in my mouth.
I felt warm and sticky, lying in my own blood.
I think I tried to move.
But I was so tired.
I’m not sure what death feels like, because it's like going to sleep.
I remember my last shuddering breaths, a lulling darkness beginning to swallow me up. I don't know why I wasn't afraid.
Oblivion almost felt like I was sinking into lukewarm depths on a Summer’s day.
Oblivion wasn't pain, and there was a peaceful inevitability to it.
It was endless nothing, a nothing I found myself gravitating towards. But before I could envelope myself in that darkness, it was spitting me back out.
The next thing I knew, I was in a white room, a slow beeping sound tearing me from slumber. I had a vague memory of slow spreading roses blossoming across my shirt, like summer flowers blooming.
Everything was white.
The walls, the ceiling, and my clothes.
Sensation hit me in slow waves.
Exhaustion.
I felt it tightening its grip around my brain, dragging me back onto a mountain of pillows when I tried to jump up. My Aunt May was sitting next to me on a plastic chair, her warm fingers entangled in mine. Aunt May and Mom were practically twins, with the same thick red hair and pale skin.
Mom wore her hair in a casual ponytail, while May preferred a strict bun.
I had to bite back the urge to yank my hand away.
Aunt May was asleep, used tissues filling her lap.
There was a nurse pottering around, checking my vitals and prodding my arms. My eyes felt heavy. I had to blink several times to keep myself awake.
“Charlie?”
The nurse’s voice was like wind-chimes.
I pretended not to notice her forced lipstick smile, the way she stood with her arms folded, staring at me like I was one of my cousin’s experiments. “You were in an accident, sweetie,” the nurse spoke up. I could see her trembling hands. “Just, um, try and rest, okay?”
I wanted to ask where my family was, but I already knew the answer.
I think she knew that too.
“You died, Charlie.” The nurse’s voice was eerily cold. “You were dead for thirteen minutes.”
She took slow steps towards me, her eyes growing frenzied, like she couldn't understand me, like I was a puzzle she could not solve– and it was driving her crazy. I could see it in her twitching hands, her wobbling lips that were trying and failing to appear stoic.
“In fact, I just pulled you out of the morgue, honey. I opened up your body bag that I had just zipped up, and told your aunt that you were a miracle I just… can’t understand.” The nurse sounded like she was trying to choke down a laugh, or maybe a sob.
“Charlotte, you were pronounced dead at 3:02am from a gunshot wound to the chest.” Taking a slow, sobering breath, the nurse tried to smile. “The bullet went through the right ventricle of your heart and severely damaged your left lung, rendering you unable to breathe. Your heart stopped, and after four attempts to resuscitate, we called it.”
Something slimy wound its way up my throat when she began to pace the room. “I… did all the paperwork. It took me two minutes. Your death certificate was signed, and your body was taken to the morgue to be prepped for transportation. Then I had my lunch. Tuna salad with a protein milkshake. I’m not a fan of the chocolate flavor.”
She shook her head. “Anyway, when I came back to you, you were awake inside your body bag.” Her voice was starting to break. “You were…um, alive, and asked me for apple soda.”
The nurse moved closer, and yet kept her distance.
I could feel myself moving back, panic writhing through me.
“So.” The nurse spoke calmly. “How the fuck are you still alive, Charlie?”
I think I passed out after that.
When I woke up again, my head a lot less heavier, the nurse was gone.
Slowly, my foggy brain began to find itself and connect dots.
My mouth was dry, full of cotton.
There was a sudden tightness, a sharp and cruel sting in my wrists.
Something sharp was protruding into my flesh, and no matter how many times I violently wrenched my arm, it was stuck. It didn't feel right to be able to breathe so easily.
I knew the second I woke that my Mom was dead.
Lily and PJ were dead, and it was like losing them all over again.
As clarity came over me, I found my voice, a strangled cry escaping my lips.
“Get it out.” I whispered in a shrill cry.
Tugging at the IV in my wrist, I tried to yank the needle from my skin.
“Get it out!” I shrieked, my gaze glued to the tiny spots of blood staining the insertion point.
I could see it again.
So much blood.
Mom was curled up on the floor, lying in slow spreading red that wouldn't stop, seeping across her beaded rug.
She was all over me, slick on my skin and caked in my fingernails.
I couldn't wash her off of me.
“You're okay, Charlotte.”
Aunt May’s voice came from my right, stabling me to reality.
The world started to move again, started to make sense again, when she cupped my cheeks and told me to breathe. When I opened my mouth to ask where my family were, she lightly shook her head and I swallowed my words. Aunt May handed me a glass of water, and I drained it in one gulp.
She told me I was a miracle.
Aunt May didn't say much, and when she did, she broke into sobs.
Her eyes were raw from crying, clinging onto me, her shuddery voice reassuring me that I was going to be okay.
She told me I would be living with her from now on, before wrapping me into a hug and leaving to get coffee.
Once my aunt was gone, another nurse came to prod my IV.
I tried to sleep, but the uncomfortable tightness of the needle sticking into my skin and the sterile white lights in my eyes made it impossible. I waited for grief to catch up with me, drowning me in a hollow oblivion I wouldn't be able to claw myself out of. But I didn't feel sad. I didn't feel angry.
I wanted to know why my family were dead.
I wanted to know why I was breathing, and their skin was ice cold.
Rotting.
The sudden image of maggots crawling up my brother’s nose sent me lurching into a sitting position, my stomach heaving. Reaching for my glass of water, it was empty. The sensation of throwing up felt familiar, almost comforting.
Mom was always with me when I was sick, holding my hair back and lulling my hysteria with reassuring murmurs.
I was frowning at the trash can by the door, my cotton candy brain trying to figure out if I would be able to make it in time, when a small voice drifted from the doorway, startling me.
“I don't want you to come live with us.”
My cousin was peeking through the door, hiding behind a shock of dark brown curls. Jude was the only brunette in our family. The rest of us were redheads.
I wasn't sure why he was dressed up like a ghost, draped in a white cloak that was way too big for him. Jude was a weird kid. His mother, and my auntie, had inherited the family house, so in his mind, that made him superior.
Jude made it clear he didn't like his cousins, refusing to let us play with him and banning us from family gatherings.
When the adults were drinking cocktails and losing their awareness, Jude ordered us around. The times we did play with him, our cousin showed us his spider collection, or the raccoon brain he kept in a jar. PJ was convinced our younger cousin was a serial killer. Several months earlier, he'd happily showed us the roadkill he'd been growing bacteria on under his bed.
Jude’s ‘experiments’ were worrying.
He stuffed mushrooms down my brother’s ears while he was sleeping, to, and I quote, “Recreate The Last Of Us.”
When Lily had a nosebleed during Thanksgiving dinner, Jude collected all her bloody tissues and refused to tell us where he'd put them, and what he had done with them. Fast-forward two months, and I found them under a nest of spiders. Jude was trying to adapt the spiders to be able to feed on human blood. I was surprised my cousin hadn't immediately demanded to see my siblings’ dead bodies for autopsy.
Jude stepped into the room, shuffling his feet.
“I'm sorry about Lily, PJ, and Aunt Ivy.” He mumbled, glaring at the floor tiles.
My cousin made no move to offer real sympathy, instead speaking to the floor.
“But I don't want you to come live with us.” Jude lifted his head, looking me dead in the eye. “I don't like you, Charlie. I want you to stay away.”
Before I could reply, he stepped back like I was diseased.
“You should be dead.” Jude grumbled.
He scowled at me, getting my age purposely wrong as usual before running off.
“Happy 68th birthday.”
I was six months older than him.
In Jude’s eyes, I was ready for retirement.
Still, though, my cousin was right.
I was stone cold dead, and then I was somehow alive.
Which was wrong.
Growing up, I realized Death was not so subtly attempting to fix his mistake.
It started small. I'd choke on things I wasn't supposed to choke on.
Chips.
Candy.
Ice cream.
Aunt May had to perform the heimlich manoeuvre when I choked on a piece of chicken. I thought I was just really unlucky, but then I locked myself in a freezer that didn't have a lock, and almost drowned in the local swimming pool, catching my foot in stray netting.
At the summer fair, Jude convinced me to try apple bobbing, only for my head to conveniently get stuck underwater.
It started to make sense.
I was supposed to die with my family that night, and death was out to get me.
Death started to get clever, changing his tactic. Instead of using everyday things to try to kill me, he sent reinforcements.
I turned twelve years old, and my aunt threw me a huge party, inviting all my classmates. Aunt May was rich, rich.
Mom never explained it, but our grandparents left everything to May.
The house was like a palace, a labyrinth of floors I was yet to explore, and two swimming pools.
I was in the kitchen cutting myself a slice of cake, when, out of nowhere, a dead boy came rushing at me with one of my aunt’s favorite kitchen knives.
A dead boy who I immediately recognised.
Wren Oliver.
Several years prior, he'd gone missing from his parents' yard. The town launched a full investigation, only to find his body in a ditch a week later.
So, Death had sent a footsoldier.
Hiding under a hooded sweatshirt, Wren appeared older, like he had grown up with me. But there was a startling vacancy in his expression that drew the breath from my lungs, freezing me in place. Wren’s death was announced as an accident, though his wounds suggested the opposite, dried blood smearing his right temple and a cavernous hole in his chest, his clothes painted, stained, in bright red, glued in sticky mounds clinging to him.
The boy’s eyes were wild, feral, like an animal.
His hair was longer, a mess of reddish curls matted to his forehead.
Lip split into a demented giggle.
I remember taking a slow step back, my gaze glued to the knife.
Wren’s fingers were wrapped around the handle like he knew exactly how to use it, how to plunge it into my heart and kill me for good. He moved like a predator, zero self awareness or recognition, only driven to kill me.
The dead boy prided himself in slow, intimidating steps, shoving me against the wall and dragging the blade of the knife down the curve of my throat.
His eyes confused me, writhing with hatred that was artificial, programmed into him as Death’s official soldier.
He didn't speak, only smiled, revelling in my fear. I could tell it thrilled him, my trembling hands, my sharp, heavy breaths I couldn't control. Squeezing my eyes shut, I waited to finally die.
I waited for the pain, and to lose my breath once again.
But death was playing with me.
When I opened my eyes, the dead boy was gone, and I was on my knees, screaming.
“Wren Oliver is trying to kill me!" I managed to hiss.
My aunt knelt in front of me, her expression crumpling.
*Sweetie,” She spoke softly, squeezing my hands. Aunt May was trying to appear calm for my sake, but I could tell she was scared, her frantic eyes searching mine. “Wren Oliver is dead.”
The kids surrounding me started to giggle, whispering among themselves.
In the corner of my eye, my cousin was leaning against the door, mid eye roll.
When my aunt was ushering kids back to the pool, Jude came to crouch in front of me. Ever since I started living with him, he'd made sure to keep his distance.
This time, though, Jude leaned uncomfortably close, a sparkle in his eyes I had never seen before. Inclining his head, he rocked back and forth on his heels, prodding me in the forehead.
“If you see the dead boy again, can you tell me?” His lips curved into a smile.
“I did see him.” I gritted out. “I’m not lying.”
Jude shrugged. “I never said you didn't,” he lowered his voice into a whisper, “I wanna know when you see him again.”
“Why?”
His lips curved into a smirk.
“So, I can catch him.”
My cousin got closer, his breath tickling my cheek.
“I seeeeeeee dead people.”
After that incident, death left me alone for a while.
I was fifteen, walking through the forest with a friend, catching fireflies in bell jars. Aunt May was lucky to live so close to the forest, the entrance just outside her back door. When we were littles, PJ would drag Lily and I down the trail to escape Jude’s weird experiments.
I decided to invite Jem Littlewood on a summer walk.
Jem was cute, but in a dorky way. He was chronically clumsy, and dressed like he'd been spat out of a John Hughes movie. We hiked all the way to the end of the river and had a picnic, watching the sun set over the horizon. I was having conflicting feelings for this guy.
Jem was obsessed with fireflies.
Though he seemed more interested in photographing them than me.
The guy couldn't seem to sit still, jumping to his feet to marvel at tiny specks of light dancing in the air.
“I'm just going to take photos!” Jem beamed, holding up his camera.
I had to bite back the urge to say, “Don't you have enough photos?”
I nodded, and he turned and sprinted back down the trail.
Before his footsteps ground to a sudden halt.
At first, I thought he was snapping polaroids.
When I got closer, though, blinking in the eerie dark, I caught something.
Bending down, I picked up a bell jar still spilling fireflies.
Further down the trail, Jem was lying crumpled in the dirt, his camera smashed to pieces next to him, blood running in thick rivulets down his temple. There he was. Leaning against a tree, his arms folded, was the ghost boy. Wren Oliver was growing up with me. Now, a teenager, and yet his face was carved into something else entirely, more of a monster, slight points to his ears and too-sharp teeth, eyes ignited.
Wren didn't look like a ghost boy anymore.
Death had dressed him in shackles of ivy, a crown of glass and bone forced onto his head, entangled in his curls. Death was torturing him.
Wren’s body was its canvas, and every time I got away, he was punished, painting his failures across scarred skin.
I should have been running for my life, but I was mesmerised by each symbol cruelly carved into his neck.
The boy did a slow head incline, like he couldn't believe I was standing in front of him.
His slow spreading smile caught me off guard.
I remembered how to run, stumbling over my feet.
But I couldn't move.
The burning hatred that death had filled him with, was stronger, hollowing him out completely. I managed two shaky steps, before I felt him, an unearthly force winding its way around my spine. This time, he didn't hesitate.
I watched his mouth move, a single curve of his upper lip that wrenched my body from my control, slamming me against a tree. There was something around my throat, choking the breath from my lungs, a thick fog spreading over my eyes.
Following his mouth curving into silent letters, I could feel my feet slowly leaving the ground, my legs dangling.
I was floating.
Hovering off of the ground, suspended by his words.
Through half lidded eyes, I caught the glint of a blade between his fist, but I couldn't move, couldn't scream.
He was drowning me, bleeding into my blood, spider webbing and expanding in my brain without moving a muscle.
Instead, the ghost boy stood silently, running his thumb down the teeth of his knife while he ripped my lungs apart.
It was like suffocating, sinking into that peaceful oblivion I met at eight years old.
This time, though, the darkness was starving.
“Charlie?”
My eyes found daylight, a scream clawing out of my mouth.
“Charlie, it's past curfew!”
Wren flinched, his stoic expression crumpling.
The dead boy’s lips moved again, this time in a curse.
Fuck.
“Charlotte!”
Staggering back, Wren’s eyes widened and the suffocating hold on me severed.
His head snapped in the direction my aunt was coming from.
“Charlie, answer me right now.”
He hesitated, his bare feet pivoting in the dirt, like he was considering finishing me off. Wren studied me with lazy eyes, sucking on his bottom lip. When my aunt's footsteps got louder, branches snapping under her shoes, something contorted in the boy’s face.
Fear.
I guessed the boy wasn't expecting other humans to intrude.
Wren fell over himself, shuffling on his hands and knees, before diving to his feet. When he turned and ran, I was released, slipping to the ground, trying and failing to draw in breath. I barely felt the impact, only a dull thudding pain. I could hear the ghost boy’s footsteps, his uneven, shuddery breaths as he catapulted into a run.
Under a late setting sun, I watched his dancing shadow disappear into the trees.
Mission unsuccessful, I guessed.
When I was fully conscious, Aunt May was checking over Jem, helping him sit up.
“Where did he go?” I managed to get out, scanning the darkness for Wren.
“He's okay, just concussed.” May whispered, dialling 911.
My aunt applied a dressing to Jem’s wound, ignoring the boy’s hisses.
“Keep still.” she murmured, smoothing his bandaid. “What happened, Charlotte?”
“She pushed me over.” Jem groaned, shuffling away from me. When my aunt told him to stay calm, he straightened up, leaning against the tree. “The psycho bitch tried to fucking kill me!”
When my aunt's gaze flicked to me, I shook my head.
“It was Wren Oliver.” I gritted, teetering on hysteria. I could tell she didn't believe me, but I couldn't stop myself.
I prodded at my throat, clawing for the indentations where his phantom fingers snaked around my neck, squeezing the breath from my lungs.
But there was nothing.
I could feel my mind starting to unravel. I nodded to my disgruntled classmate trying to dodge my aunt’s prodding.
“Ow, ow, ow! That stings!
“He knocked Jem out.” I managed. “Then he tried to kill me.”
Jem surprised me with a scoff. “You're seriously blaming your psychotic break on a dead kid?”
Aunt May pursed her lips, motioning for Jem to be quiet. Judging from her face, however, she agreed with the boy.
May forced a smile, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. “Okay. Can you, uh, describe the boy to me, Charlotte?”
“He was wearing a crown,” I said, “And he looked my age.”
Aunt May cocked her head, and I saw real worry, like she was trying not to freak out. Jem made a snorting noise.
“I'm sorry, he was wearing a crown?”
“Yes!” I insisted, getting progressively more frustrated.
I tried to jump up, only for my aunt to gently lower me back down. “I know it sounds crazy, but death has sent Wren Oliver to kill me, just like my family. He tried to kill me when I was twelve, too!”
Jem let out a bitter laugh. “Your niece is a fucking wackadoodle.”
Aunt May’s eyes darkened. She grabbed my shoulders, her nails stabbing into my skin. “Charlie, I want you to listen to me, okay?” When my eyes found the rapidly darkening sky, my aunt forced me to look at her.
“Charlotte!”
She was as scared as me, her voice shuddering.
“Wren Oliver is dead.” My aunt said firmly, shaking me. Even then, though, I wasn't even looking at her. I was trying to find his ignited eyes lighting up the dark. “Wren died at eight years old in a terrible accident, and you can't keep using him as an excuse for your mental trauma.” There was something twitching in her expression I was trying to make sense of. When I risked a look at Jem, the boy was staring at me dazedly– like I really was crazy.
Aunt May pressed her face into my shoulder, and I could feel her tears soaking into my shirt. She was trying to hold it together, trying to understand.
“Charlie, I know you lost your family,” she whispered. “But you and Wren Oliver are not the same. You survived, and he didn't.” Her voice splintered.
“You need to come to terms with that, okay?”
When I didn't respond, she pinched my chin, forcing me to look at her.
“Charlotte.”
Aunt May’s voice turned cold. “I ignored this when you were a kid, but if you continue to use this poor boy as a coping mechanism, I will have no choice but to send you to a specialist.”
When Jem was taken away by paramedics, Aunt May held my hand, squeezing my fingers for dear life.
I caught her gaze scanning the tree's around us, delving into twisting oblivion. Every little noise sent her twisting around. She was looking for something.
“I'm going to get you help.” Aunt May said in a low murmur when we were back at the house. Jude was sitting on the kitchen counter, legs swinging. I could feel his penetrating gaze burning into the back of my head.
Aunt May set a cup of cocoa on the table.
“No more fairytales.”
By the time I was eighteen, I had bitten three therapists.
They refused to believe that death was coming to reclaim my soul, and was using a dead boy to do his dirty work.
For my 16th birthday, I braced myself to come face to face with Wren Oliver’s ghost.
I wasn't even in town, staying at a friend's house.
But dead boys, and especially dead boys moulded into Death’s personal soldiers, could materialise anywhere.
I locked every door in the house, and taped up my friend’s window.
Nothing happened.
On my seventeenth birthday, I was sick in bed with gastritis.
Still no ghost boy.
Death seemed to have finally left me alone.
On my eighteenth birthday, I was stuffing books in my locker when my cousin popped up out of nowhere, scowling as usual. After an unexpected growth spurt and losing a tonne of baby fat, my cousin had scaled the high school hierarchy, swapping his weird experiments for a varsity jacket and experimenting with his sexuality.
The two of us had come to an unspoken truce.
I kept quiet about his spider collection to his popular friends, and he tolerated my existence until I left for college.
“Your surprise party is cancelled.”
Jude leaned against my locker, running a hand through thick dark hair tucked under a baseball cap. Jude never admitted it, but he was definitely embarrassed of being the odd one out.
My siblings may be dead, but they were still redheads.
I pulled off his cap with a smile, throwing it in his face. “Sure it is.”
My cousin’s eyes widened. He lost his slick bravado, grabbing for his cap.
“Hey!”
According to my cousin, my party was unexpectedly cancelled every year.
I wasn't sure if it was his weird superiority complex, or just plain jealousy, but it was getting exhausting.
Jude followed me down the hallway, matching my stride.
“Can you just not come home tonight?”
I quickened my pace. “It's only a party. I'm having some friends over, and no, we won't go anywhere near your room.”
“No, I mean.” Jude stepped in front of me, and for the first time in a while, he wasn't trying to hide disdain for me.
His dark eyes pinned me in place for a moment, the world around us coming to a halt. Sound bled away, and all I heard were his slow breaths. There was something there, an unexplainable twitch in his eyes and lips, that twisted my gut.
Jude stepped closer, his lip curling. He shoved me back, losing his facade.
“Stay the fuck away from the house tonight.” He said, and his voice, his tone, was enough to send shivers creeping down my spine. Jude had always hid behind a ten foot wall in his mind. It was jarring to see something in him finally start to splinter. Fuck. I thought.
This kid had serious Mommy issues.
I blinked, and the world resumed, kids pushing past us.
Jude seemed to catch himself, slipping back under his mask.
“I'm having friends over,” he rolled his eyes, “Your presence will ruin the vibe.”
“It's my birthday?”
He groaned, tipping his head back. “Yes, I know. But–”
“I think you can deal with the attention off of you for one night, Jude.”
“Will Wren Oliver be there too?” Jem Littlewood hollered.
Jude didn't respond for a moment, his lip curling.
“Shut the fuck up.” He spat at Jem, who immediately backed down. With an audience this time, Jude forced an award winning smile. “Fine.” His lips split into a grin I knew he hated. My cousin clamped his hand on my shoulder, hard enough to hurt. I could feel his fingers pinching the material of my jacket. “Have it your way, dude.”
Jude backed away with a two fingered salute.
“Happy 78th birthday!”
In a sense, I wish I listened to my cousin.
My party was a success, sort of.
Four of us, a crate of beers, and no sign of my cousin.
I was mildly tipsy, sitting on the edge of the pool, dangling my legs in the water when my friend demanded more beers.
I was also hungry for cake, so I stumbled inside in search of the goods.
The house was dark, lit up in dazzling blue from the pool's lights reflecting through the windows. Aunt May was in her office on the ground floor, and Jude was getting high in his room. In my drunken state, I found myself marvelling my aunt's house, and how much of it was left unexplored.
For example, in the foyer, past the spiral staircase she’d had custom made, was an elevator I had never questioned.
There was a girl my age standing on the staircase.
She was frozen, mid run, dressed in ragged jeans and t-shirt.
Everything about her stuck out to me, bringing me to a sobering halt.
The girl reminded me of my sister– or at least, if my sister had ever grown up.
I wasn't sure if I was drunk or hallucinating.
Her flower crown was pretty…
Lily had grown wings.
I was slowly moving towards her, a sudden bang sounding from the kitchen.
The bang of something shattering on the floor.
Twisting around, I found myself gravitating towards warm golden light.
The first thing I saw was the refrigerator door hanging open, and someone, no, something, rooting around inside it.
Glued to the spot, I dazedly watched them grab milk, guzzling it down, and then soda, cracking open each can and sucking them dry, before carving their fingers into my birthday cake.
But I wasn't looking at the spillage of food seeping across the floor. Instead, my gaze found a crown of antlers, both human and animal bone entangled with dead flowers and human remains glued to a head of familiar matted brown curls. There was something sticking from battered and bruised flesh, twin gaping slits sliced through a torn shirt resembling glass wings that were not yet formed, reminding me of a butterfly.
Wings.
But not the wings I dreamed of as a kid. These things were unnatural mounds that both did and didn't make sense on a human boy. I could see the trauma of them slicing through his flesh, monstrous, looming things protruding from what was left of a human spine.
Human, and yet I couldn't call his beautifully grotesque face human.
Wren Oliver had grown up with me, now an adult.
Eighteen years old.
His clothes confused me, a single white shirt and shorts.
Wren’s feet were bare, battered and bruised, blood smearing my aunt's tiles.
Angel.
Death had turned his footsoldier, and my future killer, into an angel.
But there was nothing angelic about the dead boy, his body and mind sculpted and moulded into Death’s own.
The boy no longer resembled a human, feral eyes and a manic smile, choking down pieces of cake. His face had been contorted into a monster, gnashing teeth and sharp points in his ears, a sickly tinge to malnourished skin.
And that's when it hit me, watching him stuff himself with food.
Something slimy inched its way up my throat.
The boy didn't move. I don't even think he'd noticed me, gorging himself on anything he could get his hands on.
Chicken, raw bacon, leftover salad.
When he moved onto cupcakes, licking frosting from his fingers, I glimpsed markings on his arms, a language I didn't understand, carved into him.
His wrists were shackled, bound, in entangled iron and vine, iron that was ingrained into his skin, vines and flowers and ivy entangling his bones, that were part of him, polluting his blood. Slowly, my eyes found stab wounds splitting open his torso.
Raw flesh, where his skin had been torched, melting, and then merging, ripped apart and put back together over and over again.
I found his heart, the gaping cavern in his chest where it should be.
And it was.
Marked, carved, and branded with a symbol resembling an X.
Wren Oliver was not dead.
But, just like me, he should have been.
I remember saying his name, my voice slurred slightly.
I didn't drink that much, but I could barely coerce words, my head spinning.
Wren’s neck snapped towards me, his eyes narrowing with resentment I couldn't understand, hatred that seemed to puppeteer him. Slowly tilting his head, the boy’s lips split into a grin, eyes filled, polluted, with mania.
I could see where his lips had been stitched shut, and then ripped open.
“Hi.”
He held up his hand in an awkward wave.
When one of my friends stumbled into the kitchen, Wren reacted on impulse.
He picked up a knife from the counter, throwing it like a dart, straight through the guy’s throat.
Something shattered inside my mind.
Ignoring my friend bleeding out, Wren stumbled over himself, abandoning his feast. He took a single step towards me, backing me against the wall, coming so close, close enough for me to feel his very real breath grazing my cheeks. Just like when he was a kid, he traced the teeth of his blade down my throat. I wasn't expecting him to burst out laughing, trembling with hysteria.
His eyes were wild, feral and wrong, almost euphoric.
With what all I could only recognise as relief.
BANG.
I was barely aware of the gunshot.
The bullet went straight through his head, the winged boy hitting the ground.
Dead.
I saw the blood stemming around him in a halo before the bleeding pool faltered, seeping back inside his head.
Like rewinding a VCR.
Wren was dead, and then he was alive.
Wren’s body contorted, his chest inflating.
His gasp for air was painful, strangled, eyes opening wide.
Terrified.
“You fucking idiot.”
Jude’s voice sent me twisting around.
My cousin stood in the exact same robes he wore as a child.
The world tipped off kilter, and I was on my knees, then my stomach.
I sunk to the floor, my thoughts swimming.
Jude’s murmur followed me, creeping into the dark.
“I told you not to come home.”
I can't remember how long I was unconscious for.
When I woke, I was dressed in an evening gown, a dress that used to be my mother’s.
My vision cleared, and I found myself sitting in an unfamiliar room resembling an abandoned swimming hall.
The pool itself was empty, the bottom stained revealing scarlet.
There were symbols carved into each tile.
Like a game.
“Sit up straight, Charlotte.”
I was sitting at a banquet.
Jude was in front of me, sipping on wine.
He caught my eye for half a second before averting his gaze.
At the far end of the table sat my aunt May.
Kissing the rim of her glass, her smile was twisted.
“I've been waiting so long to give you your birthday presents, Charlotte. Your memories should be returning soon.”
“Mom.” Jude muttered, hiding behind his glass. “Calm down. You're embarrassing yourself.”
Ignoring my cousin, May tapped her glass with a fork, and in walked my birthday presents.
No, dragged.
By their hair.
Wren Oliver, the dead boy, was in fact my aunt's prisoner.
Behind him, was the girl who looked so much like Lily.
I think that's why my aunt chose her.
Aunt May cleared her throat.
“For a long time, our family has lived among creatures who live in the forest you played inside. In exchange for keeping this town safe, they only ask for small favors. Wayward children who disappear into the woods are good enough payment. Charlie, you and your siblings do not share our inheritance. Your mother never wanted fae children. She wanted you to be human.”
Aunt May’s smile faded.
“After losing my sister, and my niece and nephew, I made a deal to give my last surviving niece 100 years of life.”
Her words were white noise, my gaze glued to my birthday presents. I couldn't call them human anymore.
I couldn't call Wren human, when his face was so beautifully grotesque, painfully hypnotising.
The monstrous things sticking from twin slits in his back were supposed to be wings, except they looked wrong, cruelly protruding from his exposed spine. Under the influence of alcohol earlier, the girl made me smile.
Her wings, to me, looked like one of a real fairy.
In reality, they were torn and shredded apart, bigger than the girl herself.
When she dropped onto her stomach, she was dragged back to her feet, her knees buckling under the weight. Her tiara of flowers and bone looked pretty to me when I saw her on the stairs.
Now, though, I could see the pearly white of a human child's skull forced onto her head, dead flowers threaded through cavernous, gaping eye sockets.
The two of them were violently shoved into the empty pool.
“Jude. Please demonstrate, sweetheart.”
Jude stood, pulling out a gun, and aiming it at the winged girl.
BANG.
The girl’s body hit the tiles, her blood seeping across stained white.
“Now, of course, our king did not give you life for free.” May continued.
“The King demanded a debt, as well as two heirs to join him in his court once your hundred years were complete.”
Her lips quirked into a smile.
“The king is smart. If a child cannot be stolen from the human world, they can, however, be made, moulded and shaped from their human forms, skinned of their humanity through their suffering, leaving a hollowed out shell in the child's place.” She was speaking so casually, ignoring Wren’s whimpers.
“The conversion takes a while. 100 years to birth a fully blooded fae heir, who will lose their human memories, in preparation to join their new family.”
Jude shot Wren in the chest, his eyes empty.
This time, he dropped his weapon, using finger-guns instead.
“Bang.” He deadpanned.
Then the neck.
I watched Wren come back to life, and then die.
Over and over again.
I think at one point, he screamed and cried.
But not now.
He was their puppet on display, dancing for their entertainment.
Half lidded eyes drowned in oblivion found mine, and I understood his hatred.
Before he was shot again.
Stabbed.
Branded and burned, and ripped apart.
At some point, I screamed at them to stop. I couldn't breathe, slamming my hands over my ears and begging them.
Aunt May didn't listen, ordering for my hands to be tied down.
“The King required two human sacrifices to suffer in your place.” She concluded. “For one hundred years.”
Aunt May’s smile was suddenly sad, and she lifted her glass in a toast.
I was watching their blood trickle down each tile in the pool, like every death, every time they suffered, my body became progressively less human.
I felt disgusting. I wasn't supposed to be alive. Every single year of my life, every breath I had taken, was stolen.
Aunt May nodded at me, her lips forming a proud smile. She stood up, and was handed a sacrificial knife.
Climbing into the swimming pool herself, she strode over to Wren.
The boy slumped to the floor, trembling, his knees against his chest.
Aunt May grabbed him by the hair, forcing his head up, and sliced the blade across his throat.
His eyes flicked to me, and I swore he smiled.
Spots of red dotted yellowing tiles, a river trickling under my aunt's heels.
“Happy 78th birthday, Charlotte.”
Last night ended with me being locked in my room.
It's been almost 15 hours, and the door is still locked. Please help me. I'm fucking terrified of what my aunt is planning.
I can't stop shgajing. FycjbfucibFUCK
If she is telling the truth, I shouldn't be here, right??
And I can't stop thinking.
Is Wren Oliver trying to kill me, or himself?

Gilgo Beach task force expanding scope to look into other Suffolk unsolved homicides, DA Ray Tierney says
The Gilgo Beach Homicide Task Force has expanded its scope to take a “fresh look” at other unsolved cases involving human remains found elsewhere in the county, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said Thursday.
The revelation follows a report issued by the district attorney’s office that stated the work of the task force is “far from complete” regarding Gilgo Four suspect Rex A. Heuermann and other defendants “yet to be named.”
“We’re looking at other dead bodies,” Tierney told Newsday in an interview. “We’re using the same methodology that we used before, but we’re taking a fresh approach to each body.”
The goal, Tierney said in his office’s recently published annual report, is “solving every outstanding cold case homicide.” When asked about that statement, Tierney said the task force started with Gilgo but has “morphed into something else.” “We have six other bodies on Gilgo and we’ve expanded the investigation off Gilgo,” Tierney said of recent efforts by what has been referred to as the Gilgo Beach Homicide Task Force since its inception in January 2022. “We’re not going to confine ourselves to Gilgo.”
Tierney spoke of the expanded focus of the multiagency task force — which includes prosecutors and investigators from his office, Suffolk police homicide detectives, state police investigators and the FBI — one week after it concluded a nine-day search by police cadaver dogs of thousands of acres of woods in and around Manorville, where partial remains of two Gilgo Beach victims were found.
That search eventually expanded to North Sea to a wooded preserve where the remains of another cold case victim, Sandra Costilla, were found in 1993. Prosecutors under former Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota named since-convicted killer John Bittrolff, of Manorville, a suspect in that case.
While Tierney acknowledged the K-9 search of Manorville ended May 1, he declined to discuss specific individuals or to say if the search was fruitful.
“Anytime you do anything, you learn something,” Tierney said of the search. “The significance of it, well, you know, I guess that will have to be evaluated.”
The district attorney's annual report, a 108-page magazine-style publication highlighting the accomplishments of the office, also referenced investigative assistance the task force received from the U.S. Secret Service’s Electronic Investigations Section.
Tierney said the task force turned over more than 420 devices investigators seized during search warrants executed at the home, office and storage spaces rented by Heuermann to Secret Service investigators who specialize in analyzing encrypted devices following his July 13 arrest.
Tierney said the items turned over to the federal agency include smartphones, palm pilots, tablets, laptops, desktop computers and CD-ROMs.
“A large number of smart devices were found at the locations,” Tierney said. “An unusual amount.”
Tierney said the Secret Service used Greykey, extraction software he said the agency is particularly proficient at using, to access information from Heuermann’s devices. Following a court appearance last month, Tierney said discovery associated with those devices has been turned over to Heuermann’s defense attorney, Michael J. Brown, who could not immediately be reached for comment.
Secret Service spokesperson Alexa Worley declined to comment, citing agency policy regarding ongoing investigations.
Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to first- and second-degree murder in the killings of Megan Waterman, Amber Lynn Costello and Melissa Barthelemy, and second-degree murder in the slaying of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, collectively known as the Gilgo Four. The victims, whose remains were discovered in 2010, were sex workers. Their remains were found “completely nude” and restrained by either tape, burlap or belts, court records show.
Discovery has included 12 terabytes of data, including a transcript of the grand jury presentation, 85 grand jury exhibits, autopsy reports, photographs from the crime scene and the medical examiner’s office, search warrants and affidavits, prosecutors said in a recent court filing. The defense was also given paperwork from the Suffolk County Police Department and its crime lab, as well as outside laboratory documentation, prosecutors said.
Heuermann has been held without bail since his July 13 arrest.
Prosecutors have said Heuermann had hundreds of contacts with sex workers in the years before he was arrested. He was connected to the crime primarily through cell site data, burner phone records and DNA evidence linking him to the women and the location where the bodies were found, prosecutors have said.
Heuermann used seven burner phones over a 14-month period to do approximately 200 searches about the Gilgo Beach investigation — even visiting the website Suffolk police created in 2020 as a clearinghouse for information and tips — and for photos of the victims and to learn about their family members, including siblings and children, Tierney has said.

2024.05.10 11:37 XansCandy Dreaming about Best friend that passed away 4 years ago 5 times in the last 3 month

I highly doubt I’m still mourning like of course I miss my best friend who died but not for her to be appearing in my dream this much. Me and my bestfriend knew each other from 2009 - when she died. So my friend died in January 2020, and she was murdered by her ex boyfriend. I was depressed for about a year after she passed and also , Me and my friend live next door to each other, but in early 2021 I got over everything and joined the military so I was no longer living at home. So I just moved back this year in February. And she’s appeared in 5 of my dreams since I’ve been back home. In one of them it felt so real so I asked her “do you know you are dead?”
I seen her autopsy photo when she passed away but it was just of her face not where the guy had stabbed her. So in the dream she showed her stab wound, exactly where it is in her leg according to her family.
In one of the dreams I hugged her so tight.
The most recent dream we were all hanging out again and about to leave to explore Japan we were so excited.
Once again I grieved and got over her death. I just don’t understand why she keeps appearing. Do spirits really not move on sometimes? What’s going on here? Is it cause I moved back to my old home?
I’m very confused.. I’ve never dreamt about a person so much in a short span of time it makes it hard to sleep cause she appears a lot and it makes me reminisce sometimes. Is this normal?

The Case of Kate Blackwell: Howling? (REUPLOAD)
11/05/2017
Log book of Det. Ryan Snow
Case #2798: The Appalachian Murders
The meeting with Mr. Raines, though frustrating at times, did give me a slight better insight as to what it was I was dealing with. Unfortunately, it’s the farthest thing I wanted my leads to bring me to. I still can not reasonably rule Ms. Blackwell out for the murders in the Appalachian Mountains. I still need to gather more evidence to prove anything that I just found out and stop looking to Ms. Blackwell as my primary suspect.
I assured Ms. Blackwell would have constant surveillance during my time in Asheville to have my interview with Mr. Raines. Upon showing Sheriff Kirkpatrick the letter from my mysterious caller and what I had learned about Cloud Nine not assuring the security of their properties, he agreed to have a deputy monitor everything that happens at the Blackwell estate everyday until I could prove her innocent. After, if I were to prove she hadn’t killed anyone, Sheriff Kirkpatrick would partition to have her placed in witness protection. If the actual killer was out to get her, we’d have to take precautions to prevent another murder from happening concerning this case.
The cigarette carton I brought for Mr. Raines had to be opened and examined before I was to go into the interrogation room to speak to the convict. My gun and pen being taken away from me before I was allowed in the windowless room with nothing but a table to separate me from the killer.
Once Mr. Raines was lead in by guards, chained, he slumped down in the metal chair across from me. The guards quickly hooked his cuffs to the table before leaving us alone. He was middle aged, his once brown hair graying on the sides and gray beard scraggly. He appeared tired. Almost like any kind of fight that was left in his buff body was completely gone as he glared at me from across the table. Before I could get a word out, the older man asked for his cigarettes, to which I handed him the carton. Not even asking if I was fine with him smoking in the same room as me, he asked for a light as he placed one of the cigarettes in between his lips. I used the one match I was allowed to bring in and threw it out in the can behind me. As smoke began to fill the room, I asked if I could record out conversation. Mr. Raines only replied with grunt, to which I just assumed was a ‘yes.’
[RECORDING OF INTERVIEW WITH LEIGHTON RAINES]
[WHIRRING OF RECORDER]
DET. RYAN SNOW: This is Det. Ryan Snow at the [PRISON NAME REDACTED FOR PRIVACY] in Asheville, North Carolina. I am with Mr. Leighton Raines, conducting an interview to understand what took place in Cabin #2 of the Appalachian Mountains. Mr. Raines, do you know why you were imprisoned?
MR. RAINES [EXHALES SMOKE]: I killed my fiancé.
DET. RYAN SNOW: Can you tell me why?
MR. RAINES: I blacked out. Went mad. Killed her. I’m telling you what I told the court.
DET. RYAN SNOW: Do you believe that’s what happened?
MR. RAINES: What I believe and what really happened are irrelevant. I killed Bonnie. It’s as simple as that.
DET. RYAN SNOW: You wrote in the guest book that Bonnie heard something in the attic and that you ignored her.
[SILENCE]
DET. RYAN SNOW: You stated in it that you told her not to worry, but that the Ouija board hidden up in the attic ended up on the coffee table and you were holding a knife when you-
MR. RAINES: How… How did you know what I wrote in that book…? That the Ouija board was in the attic…?
DET. RYAN SNOW: Mr. Raines, I-
MR. RAINES: I… I had no idea that piece of shit was up there… I didn’t… How’d you’d find out that’s where it came from?
[SILENCE]
DET. RYAN SNOW: Mr. Raines, I’m going to have to ask you to hold off on your questions for a moment and recount every detail you remember when you went to that cabin.
MR. RAINES [SHUFFLING IN CHAIR]: Fucking Christ! [INHALES THEN EXHALES SMOKE] Fine… I… It was supposed to be a romantic getaway… Just me and… Her… To celebrate our upcoming marriage… I proposed to her on those God forsaken mountains… We hiked and I…
[SILENCE]
DET. RYAN SNOW: By “her” you mean… Bon-
MR. RAINES [SNIFFS]: Don’t. Don’t say her name. You don’t deserve that… [INHALES SMOKE BEFORE EXHALING] … We wanted to get away and just be together… She was getting nervous about the wedding… So, I booked the cabin to get her away from the stress of getting the whole wedding together… Her parents never really cared for our relationship and my best man had gotten the flu, so I knew she wasn’t having the best time getting everyone she wanted together for the wedding… Up there… In that cabin… It was just us… No upcoming wedding… No disappointed parents… No friends who were getting sick or canceling… It was just us… The world… No one else existed except B-… [INHALES SMOKE THEN EXHALES]
DET. RYAN SNOW: The guest book, you said she heard noises. When did she start hearing them?
MR. RAINES [SIGHS]: Yeah… Yeah, we both heard some noises coming from the attic I think… On our… Third day there? I just thought it was an animal and thought the little dumb ass would find its way out, so I told B-her to just ignore it… I couldn’t open that attic anyway… It was locked. I…
[SILENCE]
MR. RAINES: You… You said that the Ouija board was up there…?
DET. RYAN SNOW: You didn’t know?
MR. RAINES: Of course not! Had I been able to get up in that shitty attic and saw that fucking toy up there, I would have gotten Bon- my… Her… Out of there! I don’t believe in that hocus pocus, but she did and I knew she’d be having a panic attack over it. I brought her there to get away from the stress, not make it… Make it… Worse… The… The attic… It was locked…
DET. RYAN SNOW: I’m sorry?
MR. RAINES: The attic was locked… When the police came… I called them and told them everything I knew… They had gone to the attic to see about the noises I told them about when they asked me to explain what happened… It was still locked… The attic… Said it could only be unlocked and locked again by a key… I hadn’t broken the lock… There was no key… How’d I get that Ouija board…?
DET. RYAN SNOW: Mr. Raines, someone else found the Ouija board up in the attic during their stay in the cabin, there could have been two, the one you had may have come from somewhere else and the one the next tenant found was-
MR. RAINES: Wait, what?
DET. RYAN SNOW: What?
MR. RAINES: There’s been people staying in that cabin after me?
[SILENCE]
DET. RYAN SNOW: Yes…?
MR. RAINES: No… No, no… No, no, no! [CHAIR SLIDES AS MR. RAINES STANDS] No one should have gone up there after what happened! That place should be burned down! What happened to me shouldn’t happen to anyone else! It left me to rot in this prison! It wants more! It’ll get more if people go up there!
DET. RYAN SNOW: Mr. Raines, please, calm down! What do you mean? What are you talking about? What is “it?”
MR. RAINES: What am I…? What kind of detective are you? The Ouija board, me waking up to me killing my Bonnie, the noises! None of this shit is clicking with you?
[SILENCE]
MR. RAINES: “It” is a demon! Something from Hell that made me kill my beautiful future wife using that God damned Ouija board!
[SILENCE]
DET. RYAN SNOW: You’re saying… You were… Possessed…?
MR. RAINES [SLUMPS BACK IN CHAIR AND INTAKES ANOTHER PUFF OF SMOKE]: Knew it wouldn’t hold up in court either, so I confessed to just killing her and… And nothing else happened after… No black outs… My cellmate’s a dick, yet I haven’t killed him… Yet… So, I just assumed the demon went back to the cabin to get its next victim. Never told anyone my theory about it, because I knew they’d think I was crazy…
DET. RYAN SNOW: I thought you didn’t believe in that kind of stuff?
MR. RAINES: I don’t… But that’s all I could understand about how I could have… Killed her… The Ouija board… The knife… My not remembering what happened no matter how hard I try to dig deep enough into my memories to find the answers… I… I don’t remember…
DET. RYAN SNOW: The autopsy… Her heart was missing… You don’t remember taking it…?
[SILENCE]
MR. RAINES [INHALES SMOKE THEN EXHALES]: No… The police couldn’t find it either… Some people… The press and… People who didn’t fully know about me… Theorize that I… That I… [SNIFFING] That I ate her heart… There was blood all over me… Even some around my mouth… So… [SNIFFING]
DET. RYAN SNOW: People think you… Ate her heart?
MR. RAINES: Some kind of… Ritualistic killing from what I remember them saying… That I communicated with that demon and made a deal with it… Her heart being what sealed our… “Contract…” Christ, it sounds so stupid saying it out loud… I just… I don’t remember messing with that Ouija board or… Anything…
DET. RYAN SNOW: Do you remember anything about that day? The moments before you… Before blacking out?
MR. RAINES: We went for a hike to get her away from those sounds in that attic… They were scaring her and I thought a walk would calm her down… She said she’d been hearing things at night… Was having nightmares of someone telling her things… Telling her I’d been cheating on her… I should have just taken her away from that place, taken her home… [SNIFFING] I never should have asked her to marry me… [INHALES SMOKE THEN EXHALES] We got back after she seemed to calm down… I opened the door for her and we walked in… That’s… That’s when things went black… That’s all I can remember before blacking out… Before I… Woke up… [SNIFFING] God… The fear in her eyes… [SNIFFING]
DET. RYAN SNOW: Was there any indication before the trip that she believed you had been cheating on her?
MR. RAINES: No! No, of course not! I would never! I would never cheat on her! She was everything and I could never see any other girl behind her back like that! No, she was just stressed about the wedding and everything going on, so I just chalked it all up to her mind playing tricks on her. I worried she was getting cold feet and… And I just was so afraid of her… Leaving me…
DET. RYAN SNOW: I see. Did you worry for a while, even before the trip, that she would leave you?
MR. RAINES: I… I had my concerns… But then she said ‘yes’ when I asked her to marry me… I thought all those feelings… All those worries, all the back lash from her family… I thought it would all go away… Then I booked… That… Fucking cabin… [INHALES SMOKE BEFORE EXHALING]
DET. RYAN SNOW: Did you book the cabin through Cloud Nine Vacation Rentals?
MR. RAINES: Cloud Nine Vacation…? No, I booked it through some bitch named… Ah… Alba Larson? She said she was the landlord. I booked it through her.
DET. RYAN SNOW: How did you come across her contact information?
MR. RAINES: I was looking up places in the mountains to book a place for us… Posted on Facebook for any recommendations and she reached out to me… She vanished off the fucking Earth, so the police couldn’t find her.
DET. RYAN SNOW: Mr. Raines… Someone did indeed book themselves in that cabin after you. Many did actually, but only one of them booked through Mrs. Larson. Everyone else booked through Cloud Nine Vacation Rentals. That person is under suspicion of murder as well. Now, the thing about Mrs. Larson, is that she’s been dead since 2005 and the property was bought out by Cloud Nine when no one could locate any family of Mrs. Larson.
[SILENCE]
MR. RAINES: Y-You’re… You’re fucking with me…
[SHUFFLING SOUND OF DET. RYAN SNOW TAKING OUT A PHOTO OF MRS. LARSON AND HER DEATH CERTIFICATE, PLACING IT ON THE TABLE]
MR. RAINES: Th-That’s… That’s… That’s her… She’s the one I spoke to about… What the fuck…? What the actual fuck?
DET. RYAN SNOW: Mr. Raines, are you absolutely, one-hundred percent, sure that you killed your fiancé?
MR. RAINES: I don’t know… I don’t know… I… I can’t remember… Someone else is accused of murder…?
DET. RYAN SNOW: Yes. They booked the cabin through Mrs. Larson and went through something similar as you did. They heard sounds in the attic, heard voices, and found a Ouija board in the attic. There were five of them and one was accused of murdering the other four. However, her story matches yours in a way and I believe there may be someone either impersonating Mrs. Larson or just some sick killer luring people to that cabin to kill them. Why they’re leaving you and this other person is what I’m also trying to figure out. I can’t rule out anything. I can’t say for certain that you’re both innocent. They could have looked up your story, did some digging, and repeated everything that happened to get away with it. I’m still trying figure out if you both did indeed speak to a Mrs. Larson, or if you just made all that up.
MR. RAINES: Well I spoke to someone! That’s for damn sure, but how the hell could they have been dead for five years?
DET. RYAN SNOW: Exactly. You’re saying you were possessed. This person also believes they were framed by something that didn’t show itself until they got the Ouija board. I don’t believe for one second it was something supernatural, but it definitely has something to do with the occult. You said your wife believed in that stuff, yes?
MR. RAINES: Y-Yeah…
DET. RYAN SNOW: I see.
MR. RAINES: So, now what?
DET. RYAN SNOW: If you have nothing else to offer, I’ll need to take my leave and continue my investigation on this current suspect. If I can prove that they’re innocent and see if I can find out who the real killer is, I will have the court petition to release you and clear you of the murder.
MR. RAINES: And if you can’t?
DET. RYAN SNOW: Then you and my current suspect are going to be imprisoned for a very long time and those cabins will remain.
[CHAIR CLATTERING]
MR. RAINES: No! No, you can’t let that place remain open to the public! If what you say is true, then that place needs to be burned down! Whether or not a demon is to blame for my Bonnie dying, there’s seriously something wrong with that place!
DET. RYAN SNOW: Mr. Raines, there’s nothing I can do about the cabins after I prove or disprove you and this person. What happens to them is up to nature at this point as I also plan on taking down Cloud Nine. They failed you and this person, despite the kind of people you could turn out to be. I’m afraid that’s all I can give you and all you can give me… [CHAIR SLIDES AS DET. RYAN SNOW STANDS]
MR. RAINES: Wait! Wait!
DET. RYAN SNOW: Yes?
MR. RAINES: I… I remember… One last thing… I remember… Something after I woke up from my black out…
DET. RYAN SNOW: And that is?
MR. RAINES: Howling…
DET. RYAN SNOW: Howling?
MR. RAINES: Yes, howling.
DET. RYAN SNOW: It’s the mountains.
MR. RAINES: I just- you- mother fuck- [DEEP BREATH] I understand that and I thought the same thing, but there was something… Off about it… It wasn’t until I got off the phone with the police that I heard it… That howling… I thought it was a mountain lion at first or maybe a group of coyote… But… It sounded… Almost human… An animal… I can’t describe it, but… It still haunts me…
[CREAKING NOISE]
DET. RYAN SNOW: Best of luck to you Mr. Raines. I’m sorry for your loss.
MR. RAINES: Dick-
[END OF RECORDING]
As I stated before, my conversation with Mr. Raines did give me more of an insight to what I was dealing with in the Blackwell case, but it was leading me down a hole I did not want to fall into. Demons? Possession? Things I never believed in. Everything had a far more reasonable, rational answer to it. Things that went bump in the night didn’t exist.
Unfortunately, anything else I tried putting together to make this puzzle were not fitting. Both Ms. Blackwell and Mr. Raines stated that they had spoken or at least exchanged communication with Mrs. Larson to book the cabin. They both, or at least Ms. Collins when she visited with Mr. Raines, heard sounds and voices coming from a locked attic. And they both had experiences with the Ouija board. Mr. Raines having no idea how he had gotten it from the attic which was still locked when he woke up from his black out.
There was just one last piece. The howling that Mr. Raines heard after his supposed murder of Ms. Collins. Ms. Blackwell had never mentioned to me about any howling during her time in those mountains. I’m going to conduct one last interview with Ms. Blackwell. If her answers bring me to another dead end, I will have no other choi
[RECORDING OF PHONE CALL BETWEEN DET. RYAN SNOW AND UNKNOWN CALLER]
[PHONE RINGING]
DET. SNOW: Det. Ryan Snow with the Char-
UNKNOWN: Lucky… Dime…
[CLATTERING SOUND]
DET. SNOW: Who is this? Where are you? How do you-
UNKNOWN: Bring her back… Please… I need it… Please….
DET. SNOW: What do you need from her? She’s not going back to those mountains just for you to-
UNKNOWN: Liam says hello…
[SILENCE]
DET. SNOW: How… H-how do…
UNKNOWN: Bring her-
DET. SNOW: Son of a bitch, tell me how you know that name!
UNKNOWN: Regan…

DET. SNOW: What… What am I thinking right now?
[SILENCE[
UNKNOWN: Lake… Gaagige…
[BEEPING OF LINE GOING DEAD]
[RECORDING ENDS]
I need to talk to Ms. Blackwell. I need to know what the hell is going on. This can’t be real. It just can’t be what I’m starting to believe it is.

2024.05.07 17:50 just-ans How to do data recovery after accidental deletes? I used Autopsy are there any more robust solutions?

Hi There,
I accidentally deleted all of my photos and videos recently around 250Gib, and I didn't even realize that I have deleted the data for like 4 days after the incident, I only released what had happened when I went to search for some picture and I did't find that, the data was gone.
I did what I could think at that point, using Recuva and all the tools that were being shilled. But none of them worked since I was using windows and it's been 4 days.
Similar incident happened to my friend but he only lost the data on his USB Stick, and came to me for a solution I did the recuva and all tools but only recuva was able to extract 32 images out of 250 but then I kept searching and found about Autopsy and Used that to recover the photos and it was actually able to recover all those 250 photos.
Now, I've also seen various posts mentioning that when someone tried some data recovery tools on their server they were able to get data of past as well.
I would like to know from you guys like what are the best tools for these time and purpose of data recovery at its best?
PS: I was lucky really lucky and had all my past 60 Days photos in Google Photos bin and rest I had backed up in my offline SSD.
Thank you.

2024.05.07 17:11 Still_Lost_24 Book Update

We are currently being bombarded with questions - which is actually a good thing, because it means we know that a lot of important things are being discussed. Nevertheless, I would like to say something about this in general.
Our book has now been on the market for four weeks and a lot has happened since then. First of all, to appease some of the penetrating downvoters of our contributions: We haven't gotten rich, nor have we even come close to covering the costs we spent on the project. Nevertheless, the book is selling very well and all over the world. It is really interesting to learn that the case is known and in demand all over the world. By the way, by far the most books go to the American market, followed by Germany and the UK.
And we receive many e-mails from readers who want to give us tips for one or the other. Some of them are really long, elaborate theories that run to several pages. Above all, it's about the night photo location or the route Kris and Lisanne could have taken, which some are convinced they have found. Followed by clues about the red truck and of course many potential suspects.
I would like to point out once again that we are not investigators and are no longer actively working on the case. But of course we won't rule it out as soon as new clues actually emerge. Some of the ones we receive are really promising, but in our opinion not groundbreaking. Nevertheless, we understand that people who contact us are disappointed that we do not agree with their findings. But we are also not an authority that decides. Everyone should post or publish their theories. Incidentally, we have never created a comprehensive theory of our own, nor do we want to. It's a pity that we get PN in this sub from users who have interesting things to contribute but are only silent readers, obviously because they are worried that their theories or clues might be ridiculed by others. That is very unfortunate.
We are also approached by experts who have a lot to contribute on specific issues such as suspicious telephone behavior. Also people who work in the field of forensics. They ask questions - just like here in the forum.
For example, someone inquires about an autopsy report and wants to know whether there is more, whether we have overlooked something because they know from their knowledge that this or that should actually be documented. We understand that and we know that. But that is precisely the problem with the file, which we undoubtedly have in its entirety. There are dozens of investigations that should have been carried out but were not.
So there's a lot that we can't answer because it's simply not in the files. There is information that is urgently needed, but is sometimes inexplicably missing.
This also applies to two questions in this forum. One relates to whether the GPS on the cell phones was on or off. The only answer we can conclude from NFI report is that No GPS data could have been extracted or found. This does not answer the question. These are all things that the Kremeres' lawyer also noticed. For example, he demanded a specific answer to the question of whether the cell phones could have been located by GPS.
The other question relates to whether or not the flight mode was switched on on April 11. There is no answer to that either. It is simply not mentioned in the NFI report. Which is strange enough, because for all other moments when the cell phone was on long enough, it is recorded that the flight mode was off. For the last day, however, this information is missing, the log does not show it either. We can't say why, only suggest, that it was not able to extract this information. Like so many other things, it remains unanswered.
We still read every email and try to answer soon, but of course we never pass on any personal data that is on file and will never do.
What we actually hoped for the most is that there is no evidence so far. This concerns a total of up to 11 people who must have been on their way to or from the Mirador at the same time as Kris and Lisanne went up there. In particular, we are still looking for possibly two female couples who looked similar to Kris and Lisanne. (If it were not them)
Maybe something will turn up.

2024.05.06 15:02 FelicitySmoak_ Monday, May 6, 2013 - Jackson v. AEG Live Day 5

TRIGGER WARNING : Graphic testimony about the autopsy & toxicology reports. Some people may be sensitive to this
Trial Day 5. Week 2
Jackson family did not attend the court.
Toxicologist Dan Anderson Testimony
Jackson direct
Jackson attorney Koskoff is doing the direct examination. Anderson starts testifying about his experience, credentials
Jurors are shown the pictures of three prescription pill bottles found in MJ's bedroom:
Anderson is then asked about a chart which shows the medications, how many doses were issued and how many remained at the time of Michael's death. Another series of charts show the Propofol and other medications that were found in the home
Most of the drugs, he testified, were prescribed by Murray
Toxicologist Anderson tells jury it's highly unusual to find injectable lorazepam and propofol in a home setting.
Anderson said investigators found injectable lorazepam at MJ's home, a form of the drug "typically found in a hospital setting."
Jackson lawyer Koskoff: "After you heard from investigators that propofol was found in the home, what did you think?"
Anderson: "Propofol collected as evidence, it's highly unusual. It raises a red flag in my eyes as a toxicologist...It's very problematic if it's found outside the hospital setting."
The discovery of the propofol bottles outside a medical setting also was "highly unusual" and "kind of raises a red flag", Anderson said
Anderson also explains where coroner's staff take samples from within a body, and also how certain drugs are metabolized. The toxicologist then explains to jurors what tests he ordered on Michael Jackson's body
Anderson said blood samples were taken from every corner of Jackson's body:
"his heart, femoral artery, liver and behind his eyes"

Dan Anderson : "This particular case, we were looking for everything and anything"
Anderson testified that tests of Jackson's blood, urine and internal organs showed traces of:
Toxicology tests detected six drugs in Jackson's system other than propofol (according to Anderson):
Anderson walks jurors through a chart he prepared of the drugs found in Jackson's system. Propofol and lidocaine found everywhere. By everywhere, Anderson means blood taken from the heart, femoral artery, liver, urine and in fluid behind eye
Anderson said propofol and other drugs were found during toxicology tests, noting that propofol was of most concern.
Anderson: "It raises a red flag in my eyes...It's very problematic to find it outside the hospital setting"
After morning break, toxicologist Anderson tells jury level of propofol in MJ's body is consistent with general surgery. Anderson said that the amount of propofol found in his system was what you'd expect in a patient who had just undergone major surgery
Anderson: "Michael Jackson's body was riddled with the powerful anesthetic propofol when he died. The level was "consistent with major surgery anesthesia," said Anderson, noting that a level of 3.2 milligrams per milliliter of blood was found in Jackson's body
Jackson lawyer Koskoff asks Anderson about other cases LA coroner has handled where propofol was involved. Anderson tells jury about preparing a chart of all LA County deaths where propofol was found, after Michael's death. Coroner's office continued to update the chart after Jackson's death, Anderson tells the jury. It now has 31 cases. The first LA County death case where propofol was found dates back to 1999, Anderson says. It's updated as of a couple weeks ago. To put the 31 propofol cases in context, Anderson says coroner handles about 8,000 deaths a year. Roughly 5,000 involve toxicology screens.
Koskoff also asked Anderson about Demerol. Toxicologist says none was found in Jackson' s system. Anderson told jury Demerol typically dissipates from a person's system with 12-16 hours.
Summary of Negative Toxicological Findings:
Direct questioning of Anderson ends with him telling jury he didn't find any recreational drugs in Jackson's system
AEG Cross
Cahan is the attorney handling cross-examination for AEG.
Anderson remembers when he heard Michael Jackson had died. It was a Thursday, his day off, and his son told him MJ had died.
He tells the jury he suggested tests that were conducted. Anderson tells that he observed part of the autopsy the day after the death.
Much of Anderson's cross examination is him explaining charts he prepared in greater detail.
Cahan notes that one chart shows 10 medications, with three doctors issuing them: Conrad Murray, Allan Metzger and Arnold Klein. She notes that the doctors were all prescribing certain medications that were supposed to be taken at bedtime. She asks if this is important. Anderson says his staff doesn't take into account directions for taking meds, but how they're found in toxicology screens.
Cahan: "Would you agree with me there are three different physicians prescribing medication for Mr. Jackson to take at bedtime (in the months before his death)?"
Anderson : "I would agree"
Anderson also explains that there were two visits to Jackson's home where medications were collected. On July 9th, a Jackson family member brought in additional medications they had found and thought investigators should have.
Anderson testifies by mid-July he knew the amount of propofol found in Jackson's body was cause of death
Cahan asked Anderson about signing his portion of the toxicology test on July 15th. She asked if the level of Propofal was fatal. Anderson responded with:
"yes...the level was fatal"
Anderson testifies that he found out propofol had been collected from Jackson's home after he found it in drug screens.
Jackson Redirect
Anderson was also asked about 31 death cases in LA where propofol was found. He makes clear, propofol was not cause of death in all those cases. Jackson's lawyer Koskoff highlighted seven cases where propofol was a cause of death; five cases were in residences. Six of the seven cases where a propofol overdose was a cause of death were deemed suicides, toxicologist Anderson testified. According to Anderson, Jackson's case was the only one involving someone outside the medical field who overdosed on propofol in a home.
Anderson testified that Michael Jackson is the only person in Los Angeles County not in the medical field to die of propofol intoxication in their home in the last 14 years. The other six people who died at their homes were doctors or nurses who had access to the tightly controlled anesthetic
Christopher Rogers is the deputy medical examiner who performed MJ's autopsy. He walks through his credentials and experience.
Rogers said he learned about MJ's death while at a conference:
"Somebody passed me a note that Michael Jackson had died", Rogers said.
Rogers, who determined that Jackson's death was a homicide, told the jurors he gave added consideration to detail when determining the cause and manner of the MJ's death because of his stature
Rogers: "Because Michael Jackson was such a prominent individual, there was likely to be a great deal of press attention as well as from members of the public"
A black-and-white photo taken of Jackson's body before autopsy is shown to the jury. It's left on the screen for less than a minute. Rogers said the photo accurately depicted Michael's condition at the time
Rogers testified that the 5-foot, 9-inch MJ weighed 136 pounds at the time of his death and that X-rays showed he suffered from arthritis in his lower spine and fingers
Rogers walks jury through a diagram of puncture wounds and scars on Jackson's body. Punctures consistent w/ lifesaving efforts, he says. The origin of some of the scars couldn't be determined.
Rogers also detailed how Jackson had his lips tattooed pink, his eyebrows and scalp inked with black. There were 3/4-inch scars behind both ears, suggesting he had at least one face lift, according to Rogers
Rogers also testifies about MJ's Vitiligo. Rogers testified that MJ suffered from Vitiligo a disease more common in African Americans, in which some areas of the skin are light and others are dark
"It can be very disfiguring," Rogers said
Rogers said Jackson's post-mortem exam revealed no heart disease or Lupus, the autoimmune disease that some, Dr. Arnold Klein, have attributed to Michael
Rogers said the MJ was in good health before his untimely 2009 death at the hands of Dr. Conrad Murray
"If not for his death by propofol, Jackson's health appeared good enough for him to live a normal lifespan", Rogers testified.
"There was no indication from the autopsy that there was anything anatomically wrong with him that would lead to premature death," Rogers said
Koskoff asks Rogers about condition of MJ's body. Koskoff asked whether Jackson's body had any characteristics of a street drug addict. (Disease, track marks, liver damage.) Rogers says "No". Rogers also testifies about the condition of Jackson's organs. All were in good shape, other than some lung issues.
Rogers explained why he concluded that Jackson died from a propofol overdose. Koskoff asked Rogers whether his conclusions regarding Jackson's death have changed, "No" he responded.
Koskoff: "Would a fit, competent doctor administer propofol for insomnia?"
Rogers: "I would not expect that, no"
Rogers also shot down suggestions that Jackson self-administered his lethal dose of propofol, a cornerstone theory of Murray's defense.
"One possibility that we considered is that he might have given an overdose of propofol to himself. However based on the history that was available, I don't believe that that happened", Rogers said

It has been quite a week of news, and I’m willing to bet I’m not the only one who’s tired. So I figure it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to look elsewhere for a bit of a break. Tomorrow is the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby, and in its honor, I'm posting a piece my friend Michael S. Green and I wrote together a number of years ago on Ten Famous American Horses. It has no deep meaning...it’s just fun. And it was totally fun to research, too: I watched hours and hours of Mr. Ed and read television history to try to figure out what made it such a popular show. This remains one of my favorite things I ever had a hand in writing.
1) Traveller
General Robert E. Lee rode Traveller (spelled with two Ls, in the British style) from February 1862 until the general’s death in 1870. Traveller was a grey American Saddlebred of 16 hands. He had great endurance for long marches, and was generally unflappable in battle, although he once broke both of General Lee’s hands when he shied at enemy movements. Lee brought Traveller with him when he assumed the presidency of Washington and Lee University. Traveller died of tetanus in 1871. He is buried on campus, where the safe ride program still uses his name.
2) Comanche
Comanche was attached to General Custer’s detachment of the 7th Cavalry when it engaged the Lakota in 1876 at the Battle of Little Bighorn. The troops in the detachment were all killed in the engagement, but soldiers found Comanche, badly wounded, two days later. They nursed him back to health, and he became the 7th Cavalry’s mascot. The commanding officer decreed that the horse would never again be ridden and that he would always be paraded, draped in black, in all military ceremonies involving the 7th Cavalry. When Comanche died of colic in 1891, he was given a full military funeral (the only other horse so honored was Black Jack, who served in more than a thousand military funerals in the 1950s and 1960s). Comanche’s taxidermied body is preserved in the Natural History Museum at the University Of Kansas.
3) Beautiful Jim Key
Beautiful Jim Key was a performing horse trained by formerly enslaved veterinarian Dr. William Key. Key demonstrated how Beautiful Jim could read, write, do math, tell time, spell, sort mail, and recite the Bible. Beautiful Jim performed from 1897 to 1906 and became a legend. An estimated ten million Americans saw him perform, and others collected his memorabilia—buttons, photos, and postcards—or danced the Beautiful Jim Key two-step. Dr. Key insisted that he had taught Beautiful Jim using only kindness, and Beautiful Jim Key’s popularity was important in preventing cruelty to animals in America, with more than 2 million children signing the Jim Key Band of Mercy, in which they pledged: “I promise always to be kind to animals.”
4) Man o’ War
Named for his owner, August Belmont, Jr., who was overseas in World War I, Man o’ War is widely regarded as the top Thoroughbred racehorse of all time. He won 20 of his 21 races and almost a quarter of a million dollars in the early twentieth century. His one loss—to “Upset”—came after a bad start. Man o’ War sired many of America’s famous racehorses, including Hard Tack, which in turn sired Seabiscuit, the small horse that came to symbolize hope during the Great Depression.
5) Trigger
Entertainer Roy Rogers chose the palomino Trigger from five rented horses to be his mount in a Western film in the 1930s, changing his name from Golden Cloud to Trigger because of his quick mind and feet. Rogers rode Trigger in his 1950s television series, making the horse a household name. When Trigger died, Rogers had his skin draped over a Styrofoam mold and displayed it in the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum in California. He also had a 24-foot statue of Trigger made from steel and fiberglass. One other copy of that mold was also made: it is “Bucky the Bronco,” which rears above the Denver Broncos stadium south scoreboard.
6) Sergeant Reckless
American Marines in Korea bought a mare in October 1952 from a Korean stable boy who needed the money to buy an artificial leg for his sister, who had stepped on a land mine. The marines named her Reckless after their unit’s nickname, the Reckless Rifles. They made a pet of her and trained her to carry supplies and to evacuate wounded. She learned to travel supply routes without a guide: on one notable day she made 51 solo trips. Wounded twice, she was given a battlefield rank of corporal in 1953 and promoted to sergeant after the war, when she was also awarded two Purple Hearts and a Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.
7) Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed was a talking palomino in a 1960s television show by the same name. At a time when Westerns dominated American television, Mr. Ed was the anti-Western, with the main human character a klutzy architect and the hero a horse that was fond of his meals and his comfortable life, and spoke with the voice of Allan “Rocky” Lane, who made dozens of “B” westerns. But the show was a five-year hit as it married the past to the future. Mr. Ed offered a gentle, homely wisdom that enabled him to straighten out the troubles of the humans around him. The startling special effects that made it appear that the horse was talking melded modern technology with the comforting traditional community depicted in the show.
8) Black Jack
Black Jack, named for John J. “Black Jack” Pershing, was the riderless black horse in the funerals of John F. Kennedy, Herbert Hoover, Lyndon Johnson, and Douglas MacArthur, as well as more than a thousand other funerals with full military honors. A riderless horse, with boots reversed in the stirrups, symbolized a fallen leader, while Black Jack’s brands—a U.S. brand and an army serial number—recalled the army’s history. Black Jack himself was buried with full military honors; the only other horse honored with a military funeral was Comanche.
9) Khartoum
Khartoum was the prize stud horse of Jack Woltz, the fictional Hollywood mogul in Mario Puzo’s The Godfather. In one of the film version’s most famous scenes, after Woltz refuses requests from Don Vito Corleone to cast singer Johnny Fontane in a movie, Woltz wakes up to find Khartoum’s head in bed with him… and agrees to use Fontane in the film. In the novel, Fontane wins the Academy Award for his performance. According to old Hollywood rumor, the story referred to real events. The rumor was that mobsters persuaded Columbia Pictures executive Harry Cohn to cast Frank Sinatra in From Here to Eternity. As Maggio, Sinatra revived his sagging film career and won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
10) Secretariat
Secretariat was an American Thoroughbred that in 1973 became the first U.S. Triple Crown winner in 25 years. His records in the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes still stand. After Secretariat was stricken with a painful infection and euthanized in 1989, an autopsy revealed that he had an unusually big heart. Sportswriter Red Smith once asked his trainer how Secretariat had run one morning; Charlie Hatton replied, “The trees swayed.”

2024.05.04 12:43 Mary_1805 Derrick's comments on latest episode..

Posted to Crime Weekly but sharing here as well.. Okay so, I'm really not one to jump on everything Stephanie and Derrick say; I've actually defended them alot. BUT Derrick absolutely lost me when he said that the Menendez brothers NAKED PHOTOS TAKEN BY THEIR ABUSERS wouldn't be up for public consumption if they didn't kill their parents so they lose sympathy from him for that.. Is he absolutely for real right now? I just can't with that nonsense.
Edit: I paused to post this, so I haven't finished the episode yet.
