2024.05.19 20:10 LawnPhoto Richard predicting the future... Jokes about dying in fiery crash a few months before the Vampire crash

Rewatching some classic eps, currently at the ep where the team build their own amphibious cars. The Cool Wall segment features an interesting jokey back and forth between Jeremy and Richard, where he jokes about wanting to die in a fiery crash
The episode was broadcasted May 2006. Richard's Vampire crash was September 2006...
J: This one [Koenigsegg mr2] is so scary we it's cool
R: Just cos it's dangerous
J: Because if you go through the pearly gates backwards in a fireball, that's a cool way to die!
R: I LOVE that vision of BLASTING through the gates in a flaming Swedish supercar. 'Yes I'm here! Where are the women?!'
J: Exactly. If you get wheeled through the pearly gates with a tube up your nose...
R: That's bad.
J: Come on in, in your flaming supercar.
Just a weird coincidence as Richard is the most enthusiastic in his desire to die lol. Speaks to the environment those early/mid TG years sat in pre-crash, where it seemed like a bunch of guys having fun in cars without much oversight (compared to productions today, I'm sure there were still plenty of H+S for 2006)

2024.05.19 20:08 TateAlfRobinson What will cause them to actually change?

I would be incredibly surprised if nobody from the team looks at this sub, since it is literally the number one community for the brand, but what actually is the game plan? I feel like this brand is in a position where it could really fit a unique niche in the market, but literally right now what is it doing at all that brands like supreme are not doing better? The price on the recent polos would be a potential cop if it wasn’t freaking Acetate. The AI dog picture actually has some cool ideas, but they could have taken two seconds to edit it to remove the extra legs and some of the goofyness. The silhouettes are generic, overpriced, the GOLF brick and mortar in NY was popping after it was first built and now it was empty last I went. Are these guys allergic to money? Literally just up the quality and stop using plastic garbage, and make stuff that is more unique.

2024.05.19 20:06 Conversation-Chance Finally Beat Classic Mode

(Trigger Warning: There was a lot of reload scumming. A lot.)
I finally beat classic mode. I wanted to share my experience and maybe spark some discussion! : )
The Team I Began With:
Began with a Litten, Frigibax, and a Klefki. Litten has an amazing IV spread and is pretty bulky. I'm sure we all know how strong Incineroar can be so there isn't much to explain there. Frigibax is a pokemon that I have never used since I haven't really played the mainline games since Sun & Moon, but man I fell in love instantly. Dragon Darts singlehandedly saved me money by taking Poketrash out between the main fights. The IV spread for him was decent and with his nature being +Speed -Sp.Atk combined with a Soul Dew I got later in the playthrough he usually just took out everything. Not to mention he is reasonably bulky and has a great ability in Thermal Exchange. The Klefki may be a weird choice when there are options like Tinkatink, but my Tinkatink had a very skewed IV spread and less than desirable nature, so for that reason I took the much bulkier Klefki. I figured its more about the typing's immunity to Dragon than the damage output itself.
Getting to, and past, level 20 wasn't too difficult thanks to having Dragon Darts as an egg move early on. From there I needed to grab some coverage Pokemon.
The Team I Caught:
As the run went on, I realized I had really strong late game mons, but nothing that would make taking out a variety of types easy. So, first I caught a Lotad and covered my grass and water needs. Luckily, he had a good IV spread and helpful moves. Next came a Pikachu, I wasn't sure how I felt about getting a Raichu since regardless of how good the IV spread is, the final stage BST isn't much to write home about and it wasn't crazy fast enough to make 100% use of a decent Attack stat. I ended up needing it more at certain times than I thought I would've. Lastly, came Ursaluna, who I have just now realized...IS A DAWG. Oh my stat spread, and with Payback to capitalize on the slow speed stat. Thanks to helping add some more coverage with Arm Hammer and High Horsepower, and being pretty tanky, it played such a pivotal role. (Before Ursaluna, I had caught a Marowak out of desperation, but that was a no-no since I knew there was no way it was going to do anything for me.)
My Luck, and the Battles:
Now, there are some glaring issues on my team. Namely, one fighting type could likely end my run (assuming I cared more about my "dignity" than the completion of the run and decided not to reload). Gym leaders tended to cater to my strengths as I dealt with multiple Water-type and Grass-type leaders, and the only tough battle as far as type matchups was with Roxy, around 50-70 I believe.
My rival, Ivy, in this case, wasn't too abrasive either. A Primarina that was almost always a Water Tera-type made the Fairy threat less, well, threatening. The rest of her squad was pretty lackluster, but had decent coverage I had to be a bit careful about. The Rayquaza was annoying, but much easier to get around than in my past attempts. Level 55 and 145 were probably the ones that required the most retries.
For the Elite Four, I got dealt the Kanto hand. Which at first I thought, "Yes! I'll have a breeze against Lance, and Agatha shouldn't be so bad either. Not to mention I have a decent type matchup against the Water-types and Ice-types from Lorelei!". This was all true. What I forgot was Bruno. Remember how I said that one Fighting-type could probably wipe my squad. Yeah. Hariyama would always swap on when I would set up for the Onix and was too tanky to be done with quickly, but I needed my Ludicolo (who had Zen Headbutt, crappy move for a special attacker to have by the way) to stay alive to take care of the rock snake. Needless to say, I spent the bulk of the reloads on this fight.
The champion, Blue, wasn't too much of a problem. A bit annoying here, a bit annoying there, but what really did it was his very diverse type pool. With a Mewtwo that would always set up Future Sight attacks, and a Gyarados that would always swap on whenever Incineroar would be present to nullify the Future Sight, I had an aggravating, but in reality not too bad of a time.
The last fight: Eternatus. I haven't played Sword and Shield so I didn't know the move pool going into the fight, but I did know he had a lot of Boss Bars (the segmented health). I reloaded a total of three times against Eternatus. The first three attempts ended in a Dynamax Cannon wiping my Baxcalibur and Flamethrower throwing my Klefki to the side. Then arose the true MVP of my team, Ursaluna. This game has spiked my interest in the newer generations more than anything has before. I haven't played them because: 1. I don't own a switch / 2. I didn't like the fight mechanics from Sun & Moon, and so on (I have since changed my mind, but I still don't like Z-moves). / 3. The art style hasn't been as appealing to my nostalgia-loving self as HG/SS. Anyways, that's irrelevant. The point is: Ursaluna is top-10. This may not be founded in any truths, but the stats people, the stats! It took two major hits from Eternamax Eternatus and dropped a health bar every time it hit a High Horsepower. The impact was most evident pre-Dynamax though. After a Fake Out from Incineroar, I switched in Ursaluna, and one hit was all it took to force the Dynamax. Best part is that I kept swapping in a second Pokemon that either had a weakness to Eternatus or was a threat and so it kept ignoring Ursaluna.
The Reload Scumming:
I know this is a point of contention in the community, as it is in any Souls-like or Rogue-lite game that encourages a challenge. I probably reloaded 50+ times. The game is hard and reloading while having Serebii pulled up in the tab besides PokeRogue helped make sure I learned either what I didn't already know (i.e., everything from the newer generations like moves, pokemon, abilities, etc.) and what I did wrong. In my view, completing the game is a challenge regardless of if you reload, or choose not to. The reload is simply quicker. You don't have to go through 144 levels to try another combination of moves, and swaps. At the end of the day this is a fan-made game that we're all meant to have fun in. Whether one person's definition of fun is different than the other's is perfectly fine. In saying this, I would like to thank the developers and everyone in the community for helping create and sustain such a cool medium of Pokemon that we hadn't seen until now.
Thanks for taking the time to read and share your thoughts! I don't know many Pokemon fans in real life so I figured it would be worth discussing with the community here.

2024.05.19 20:02 DirkNowitzkisWife Our biggest difference from last year to this year…

Yes, I love our rebounding, I love our interior defense and wing defense, and I don’t mind our 3 point shooting being a little down. BUT, our biggest difference has been: these guys like each other, they play for each other, dare I say the vibes are immaculate.
I was one of the people who was optimistic about the Christian Wood trade. But, the real world isn’t 2k, you can’t just trade an 80 for a 75 and BOOM, you get better. I was concerned immediately about trading Boban. Now, is his basketball impact huge? Unless we’re on the precipice of a pandemic, no. But, he was great friends with Luka, AND a cultural tone setter. In fact, there’s been some good articles and stuff written about the value of using your last bench spot as a vet minimum to keep your star happy: Thanasis and Dame’s cousin come to mind. And we lost Boban and Theo Pinson, both guys Luka really liked
Then we lost Brunson, who, by every indication seemed to be a, if not the vocal leader on this team. AND THEN, we traded Dorian, the DAWG. and we were left with a team who didn’t trust each other and didn’t look like they liked each other
Now, winning cures a lot, but, this team trusts each other. They play for each other, they like each other. Kyrie has become a leader and has taken over better than almost any of us thought. DJJ seems to have become a real glue guy, and PJ is out here defending our dudes. AND, the guys love Kidd. Any honestly, I’ll trade some X’s and O’s for a guy who has the support of the locker room (see Adrian griffin and Darvin Ham) though let’s no forget Kidd just outcoached two great coaches in two series.
Now, I’m not sure how the next series will go. But I believe because these guys believe in each other

2024.05.19 20:00 530josh The Green Fields of the Mind

A PREFACE: This is an essay written by former commissioner of Major League Baseball, A. Bartlett Giamatti, and it is something I always read following the conclusion of one of my team’s (across various sports) seasons, and I’d like to introduce it to all of you, in hopes that some of you may pick up this tradition for yourselves.
I find it’s a good way for me to appreciate and reflect on the experience of following a team over an entire season and beyond, and more broadly to examine why, despite the inherent futility in wrapping up so much of our emotional well-being in something we ultimately can’t control, we do precisely that anyway.
I will post the essay in its entirety here. Even though it was originally written about baseball, I believe the underlying themes can apply to any sport. Since it is a bit lengthy, I’ve highlighted the three most important and universally-applicable paragraphs. Despite this, I encourage you all to read the whole thing. Even if not for its own sake, at least do it in order to properly give those three paragraphs their intended rhetorical and emotional weight.
Without further ado…
"The Green Fields of the Mind”
”It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped, and summer was gone.
“Somehow, the summer seemed to slip by faster this time. Maybe it wasn't this summer, but all the summers that, in this my fortieth summer, slipped by so fast. There comes a time when every summer will have something of autumn about it. Whatever the reason, it seemed to me that I was investing more and more in baseball, making the game do more of the work that keeps time fat and slow and lazy. I was counting on the game's deep patterns, three strikes, three outs, three times three innings, and its deepest impulse, to go out and back, to leave and to return home, to set the order of the day and to organize the daylight. I wrote a few things this last summer, this summer that did not last, nothing grand but some things, and yet that work was just camouflage. The real activity was done with the radio--not the all-seeing, all-falsifying television--and was the playing of the game in the only place it will last, the enclosed green field of the mind. There, in that warm, bright place, what the old poet called Mutability does not so quickly come.”
“But out here, on Sunday, October 2, where it rains all day, Dame Mutability never loses. She was in the crowd at Fenway yesterday, a gray day full of bluster and contradiction, when the Red Sox came up in the last of the ninth trailing Baltimore 8-5, while the Yankees, rain-delayed against Detroit, only needing to win one or have Boston lose one to win it all, sat in New York washing down cold cuts with beer and watching the Boston game. Boston had won two, the Yankees had lost two, and suddenly it seemed as if the whole season might go to the last day, or beyond, except here was Boston losing 8-5, while New York sat in its family room and put its feet up. Lynn, both ankles hurting now as they had in July, hits a single down the right-field line. The crowd stirs. It is on its feet. Hobson, third baseman, former Bear Bryant quarterback, strong, quiet, over 100 RBIs, goes for three breaking balls and is out. The goddess smiles and encourages her agent, a canny journeyman named Nelson Briles.
“Now comes a pinch hitter, Bernie Carbo, onetime Rookie of the Year, erratic, quick, a shade too handsome, so laid-back he is always, in his soul, stretched out in the tall grass, one arm under his head, watching the clouds and laughing; now he looks over some low stuff unworthy of him and then, uncoiling, sends one out, straight on a rising line, over the center-field wall, no cheap Fenway shot, but all of it, the physics as elegant as the arc the ball describes.
“New England is on its feet, roaring. The summer will not pass. Roaring, they recall the evening, late and cold, in 1975, the sixth game of the World Series, perhaps the greatest baseball game played in the last fifty years, when Carbo, loose and easy, had uncoiled to tie the game that Fisk would win. It is 8-7, one out, and school will never start, rain will never come, sun will warm the back of your neck forever. Now Bailey, picked up from the National League recently, big arms, heavy gut, experienced, new to the league and the club; he fouls off two and then, checking, tentative, a big man off balance, he pops a soft liner to the first baseman. It is suddenly darker and later, and the announcer doing the game coast to coast, a New Yorker who works for a New York television station, sounds relieved. His little world, well-lit, hot-combed, split-second-timed, had no capacity to absorb this much gritty, grainy, contrary reality.
“Cox swings a bat, stretches his long arms, bends his back, the rookie from Pawtucket who broke in two weeks earlier with a record six straight hits, the kid drafted ahead of Fred Lynn, rangy, smooth, cool. The count runs two and two, Briles is cagey, nothing too good, and Cox swings, the ball beginning toward the mound and then, in a jaunty, wayward dance, skipping past Briles, feinting to the right, skimming the last of the grass, finding the dirt, moving now like some small, purposeful marine creature negotiating the green deep, easily avoiding the jagged rock of second base, traveling steady and straight now out into the dark, silent recesses of center field.
“The aisles are jammed, the place is on its feet, the wrappers, the programs, the Coke cups and peanut shells, the doctrines of an afternoon; the anxieties, the things that have to be done tomorrow, the regrets about yesterday, the accumulation of a summer: all forgotten, while hope, the anchor, bites and takes hold where a moment before it seemed we would be swept out with the tide. Rice is up. Rice whom Aaron had said was the only one he'd seen with the ability to break his records. Rice the best clutch hitter on the club, with the best slugging percentage in the league. Rice, so quick and strong he once checked his swing halfway through and snapped the bat in two. Rice the Hammer of God sent to scourge the Yankees, the sound was overwhelming, fathers pounded their sons on the back, cars pulled off the road, households froze, New England exulted in its blessedness, and roared its thanks for all good things, for Rice and for a summer stretching halfway through October. Briles threw, Rice swung, and it was over. One pitch, a fly to center, and it stopped. Summer died in New England and like rain sliding off a roof, the crowd slipped out of Fenway, quickly, with only a steady murmur of concern for the drive ahead remaining of the roar. Mutability had turned the seasons and translated hope to memory once again. And, once again, she had used baseball, our best invention to stay change, to bring change on.
”That is why it breaks my heart, that game--not because in New York they could win because Boston lost; in that, there is a rough justice, and a reminder to the Yankees of how slight and fragile are the circumstances that exalt one group of human beings over another. It breaks my heart because it was meant to, because it was meant to foster in me again the illusion that there was something abiding, some pattern and some impulse that could come together to make a reality that would resist the corrosion; and because, after it had fostered again that most hungered-for illusion, the game was meant to stop, and betray precisely what it promised.
”Of course, there are those who learn after the first few times. They grow out of sports. And there are others who were born with the wisdom to know that nothing lasts. These are the truly tough among us, the ones who can live without illusion, or without even the hope of illusion. I am not that grown-up or up-to-date. I am a simpler creature, tied to more primitive patterns and cycles. I need to think something lasts forever, and it might as well be that state of being that is a game; it might as well be that, in a green field, in the sun.” — A. Bartlett Giamatti
16-1-1 in 2024, +62 GD and 89 points total. A remarkable season by all accounts, even if it ultimately didn’t receive the external validation of a trophy.
But, in any case, it is time to close the book on 2023-24. The countdown to 2024-25 begins.

2024.05.19 19:35 liminha33 The problem with LFG

Hey guardians!
Recently I have been doing lots of raids using the fireteam finder and I have to say it works (Sometimes) but most of the time it is a nightmare.
The main problem with it is people who have never done the raid join the post that says "experience needed" <-- this is the main problem.
Do not get me wrong I do not have a problem when someone have not done the raid or do not know what to do as long as the person is willing to learn.
But when you join a fireteam who says "experience needed" and you do not know what to do + is not willing to learn. It makes the entire experience not fun for everyone.
Mics are another issue I have seen a lot. Almost all raids can be done without mics as long as the team knows what they are doing.
I have a lot of examples of raids been done without mics ranging fron VOG to Kings fall and Crotas end.
All that being said I think the in game LFG is a super cool concept and helps a lot solo players. But people need to actually try their best to learn/teach, there is no better felling than teaching someone how the raid works and completing it with them.
And please do not be that jerk who leaves when the team first wipes.

2024.05.19 19:32 Smooth_Major_3615 Is MLB The Show a good way to learn about baseball?

I’ve been interested in baseball recently and have been trying to learn about the game. Would MLB The Show be a good way to learn the teams, players, and stats revolving around baseball? For context, I got into basketball around five years ago and learnt a lot from watching 2K videos and playing 2K.

2024.05.19 19:30 redditbro08 14 Team Mega Conferences

14 Team Mega Conferences
I made 14 team Conferences based on region, school size, recent history and in some cases if the school has a good basketball program.
I listed the backup options below each conference in a randomized order. I might instill some sort of relegation rules eventually too.
Things got a little subjective for sure.
In general, I feel like it’s pretty well balanced and I think I did pretty good managing existing rivalries but there are some thing I struggled with:
  • Not putting Florida schools in the “South”. This also messes up the UGA-Florida rivalry. But maybe I can make it a fixed non-conference matchup annually in CFB25. Probably the hardest decision I had to make.
  • Northeast is weaker than the rest but this is where I thought about basketball schools a bit to make it make sense lol -ECU, USF, UConn,Umass are terrible at football recently but it felt weird not including them in their respective conferences over the other available options
  • Adding Troy to the South feels funny when looking at the rest of the conference with mostly blue chip programs but they’ve had 5 10+ win seasons in the last 8 years and geographically it makes sense.
In my mind 6 conference winners would get automatic playoff bids. Then 6 At-Large bids determined by the committee.
  • What would you change to improve?
  • Any schools you would swap in and out?
I’d also love any thoughts on relegation rules!

2024.05.19 19:26 ushanka-e-vodka A serius thought about my country calling:what this game shuld have been

My country calling is amazing i replay it from time to time and in that short ammount of time i enjoy it more than all the other campaign i never knew why and Yesterday it clicked It feels real Why? Well let's see 1 singleplayer campaing: under no flag You are a lone dude shooting you're way stealthly or not thrugh a Whole army
2 nordlys You are a lone woman shooting you're way stealthly or not thrugh a Whole army
4 the last tiger You are a lone tank crew shooting you're way stealthly or not thrugh a Whole army
Only in the 3rd campaign we are not just a dude killing 300 enemys by ourselves at the start it might be cool but when you realize you can just obliterete them alone it feels... Wired
Meanwhile in my country calling you are always part of a team you are storming narvik with fellow paratroopers shooting bombers whith you're squadron you are never alone you are part of an army and that makes it feel real and hit where it shuld i belive if the singleplayer campaign were like my country calling it whuld have been 100 times better think about it there are no good ww2 singleplayer games (modern) and i was thinking what if What if modders from all over the world whuld unite to create new singleplayer campaigns for battlefieldV following all the player feedback and adding all the removed content italy greece ussr Just Imagine I know it is a long Loooooooooooooooong stretch i dont even know if it is possible but i like to belive

2024.05.19 19:25 dalledayul I have a convoluted conspiracy theory regarding the United Kingdom's ESC entries between 2009-2013

Okay so just hear me out. This is going to be the weirdest thing I ever post.
Okay so:
In 2009, the United Kingdom entered Eurovision with Jade Ewen's "It's My Time" (with a cheeky cameo/songwriting credit by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber). The song did really well: we got 5th overall (3rd with Juries and 10th in televote), and even got a 12 points from Greece! Random. This was our best result since our 3rd place in 2002, and came after a truly awful streak from 2003-2008 where we never broke inside the top 15, bookended by two last places.
At the time, I recall that a lot of us Brits suddenly looked at Eurovision and thought "hey, we sent a pretty good song, and we actually did okay. Maybe we're not as doomed as we once thought". The sentiment in the UK about Eurovision was that the rest of Europe hated us and that's why we never did well. As a result, we never tried either, and that was the cycle of misery. We send a bad song -> we get no votes -> we're convinced Europe hates us -> we have no desire to even try -> we send a bad song. We sent some absolute stinkers in the 2000s. Like really stinky stinkers.
But now? We have a chance! We came 5th! We got 12 points from a country that is nowhere near us geographically! The sky is the limit!
Okay so here starts my conspiracy:

Chapter 1: London 2012

In 2012, Britain was preparing to host the 2012 Summer Olympics. I cannot begin to stress to you how excited we all were at this time. I'm not sure why, but the entire nation went fucking ga-ga for the Olympics in every way. We all got into sports, there was constant news coverage about the building of the stadiums, excitement over how many gold medals we could win, the works. Right from when we won the bid in 2005, we were all hyped as fuck to see a Jamaican lad run really fast. We all knew it was going to be the highlight of the year.
Along with this comes the fact that the BBC would be controlling the broadcasting, and it was going to be a doozy. The entire world, stationed in the UK, with the BBC leading the way as the chief broadcaster. Plus, the government was also completely in on it. Think of the tourism, the advertising rights, the chance to showcase British culture. 2012 was going to be our year. And look, we just did quite well in Eurovision.
Hey, what if we got to host Eurovision in 2012 as well? That would be so cool! We could have two major cultural events hosted in London in the same year, for all the world to see!
But everybody knows that to do that, we need to win in 2011. And we still have 2010 to do first. And it's very difficult for an incumbent winner to win again, even if they send a great song. It's not been done since Ireland were gifted the music of the gods in the 90s. So in order to ensure that doesn't happen, we need to ensure we don't win: so let's send the shittest song we could possibly fathom.

Chapter 2: That Sounds Good To Me

As a British ESC enthusiast, it's difficult for me to overstate just how much I fucking hate our 2010 entry: Josh Dubovie's "That Sounds Good To Me". This song is the sound of a holiday bus trip in southern Spain where you get travel sick. This is the sound of a 4/10 X Factor audition. This is the sound of being 12, asking your school crush if she wants to go to prom, and her vomiting from disgust. It is simply putrid.
I feel bad for Josh, I really do. He was a lovely chap, but he had absolutely no chance with this utter shit. This song was written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman, a British songwriting team with 13 UK Number 1 hits to their name. However, all of these hits were released before 1991. And it shows, because this song is plucked right from an 80s commercial about bleach. It's awful. It's so bad. William Hill had betting odds for this to win at 125-1, which is the lowest they've ever given a British ESC entry.
And they were right: it came dead last with 10 points. We got fucking slaughtered, and the UK looked and thought "god, we are shit at this. Europe hates us. Why do we bother."
But it's okay, because now the stage was set for a triumphant return in 2011 - one that would bring us the Eurovision glory that we thought impossible at just the right time.

Chapter 3: No wait you were meant to vote for us

In 2011, we weren't fucking around. We recruited one of our most beloved boybands, reunited after a 6 year hiatus just to bring home the gold. No more throwing up no-names singing advert jingles, we had the professionals in and we had a banger: Blue's "I Can". It was perfect. They were all good looking, they had cool suits, the song was produced by a bunch of Scandinavians. It was prime ESC winners material. And 2011 was a pretty inconstent year, so we really had a chance. Hell, Jedward were competing, surely we were going to look amazing compared to those weirdos.
But it all went wrong. The performance didn't sound great, especially with poor Lee Ryan struggling badly with the high notes. Meanwhile, Jedward had the audacity to do a better song and perform it better. I learned to forgive, but I'll never forget. Somehow, despite all of the planning, the 2012 dream, the Olympics-Eurovision double all planned out, we came a measly 11th. Jedward came 8th. We were humiliated. The dream was dead.
We need to be careful, now. The Olympics cost a lot of money to broadcast and organise, which means the BBC and the country might be skint come 2013. Now, the last thing we need is to host Eurovision. Quick, send in an artist that definitely won't win, but don't make it too obvious that we're trying to lose.

Chapter 4: E N G E L B E R T

Engelbert Humperdinck's "Love Will Set You Free" is... well, it's nice. It's lovely. It's like your grandad serenading your sleepy grandma. Wonderful. Sweet. Absolutely bound to do terribly in Eurovision. Crisis averted, we've nailed this. They'll never know that we're desperate to lose.
Engelbert performed first in the running order - likely the result of some exceptional bribery on the part of the British delegation, godspeed gentlemen - and finished a respectable and formidable 25th. Not last. That's the important part. We aren't last, which means we definitely tried. We definitely aren't still pissed about Lee missing his FUCKING HIGH NOTES FOR GODS SAKE LEE
In 2013 we decided to make sure, just to keep the treasury intact, and sent Bonnie Tyler with "Believe In Me". Another old legend, another nice, respectable performance. 19th isn't bad, I think we can be proud of that for sending a 61-year-old singing a rubbish pop ballad going up against Only Teardrops.
Crisis averted. We look like we tried, they'll never know that we had the venue booked for 2012 and everything. Oh shit they'll find the booking, quick burn the invoice quick!

Conclusion

This is a factual retelling. There is simply no other reason we would put up that entry in 2010, and why we would then send Engelbert fucking Humperdinck to try and follow up Blue. I know you think there's a more sensible explanation, but there isn't. This grand conspiracy by the BBC elites is simply the only way this ever could have happened and you know it.

2024.05.19 19:23 Pseudonymous_Rex Another AI Risk: Loss of Knowledge

If we fast forward GPTs capabilities, pretty soon it should be able to make some things very accurately that take humans a long time to do, by compounding a lot of academic knowledge, for example.
One case I am thinking of is constitutive modeling. I have done some of this myself, for doing vibration analyses, stress and strain, static failure, etc. It's hard and you kind of need to be an expert (as an example, a top professoresearcher in the field might reasonably spend a lot of research time on detailed constitutive modeling of human thorax, or etc).
Sooner or later I should be able to ask GPT, "Please make me an accurate, detailed Constitutive model of the entire human body, with all mechanical and chemical processes handled in every system. I need it to be flexible as male or female, from infants to late old age (with stochastics on various infirmities of the older subjects) I will be using this to test car safety." Basically you're asking GPT for a grail-perfect all encompassing model. And sooner or later, I guess GPT can do it.
Now several things show up:
(1) Who checks this model? Of course GPT could make mistakes. It seems the thing I have asked for should include some very complex factors such as aging and aging with diseases (common and uncommon), perhaps different dynamics of infants. These would all need very knowledgeable experts to check them. Like a whole team of people who are potentially both specialist doctors and mechanical (or specialized PhD biomed) engineers at the same time, also chemists, etc. It's a lot!
And even after vetting, you would need to validate results were within expected parameters.
This project is so immensely big, I don't know where you would get the people to verify and validate your model. And it's only really one domain I'm talking about.
(2) Lets expand this. Sooner or later, let's say GPT-9 is VERY GOOD and we believe in every way it's better than 200 PhDs on problems like this. Cool, so you ask for your constitutive model. Well, why did you even need the domain knowledge to say "constitutive model?" Just say "I need a simulated human for crash-testing." But then, why be even that domain specific? Why not say "I need a car that is safe for humans?"
Let's assume there aren't errors in GPT's output, and it makes a perfectly safe car, implicitly doing all the simulations on God-level perfect constitutive models of humans.
Don't we soon lose the ability to be good engineers and just become dependent slaves to the AI?
(3) I have given the extreme end in (2) above. Lets dial it back and say that GPT works in tandem with humans as a time-saving framework. Lets say as an engineer, I need not focus on smaller-level numerical models and multiphysics to get my constitutive model right. Let's say GPT can handle all this in the background while I design a tool, and it's "mostly good" at it.
This is great, right? It multiplies my efforts as an engineer, and saves me from having to hire as many people to get the job done or spend my precious time doing it.
Still though, while I am becoming an expert in using the abstraction, lower level expertise, below the level of the abstraction is less necessary and less used. Like how people programming on game engines aren't typically working up from an 8086, and don't usually know the kinds of at-the-metal stuff that a whole generation of people knew, which contributed much to making those game engines... Who will make the new engines? (All-knowing GPT, I guess?, and that leads back to point (2), if indirectly)
Also, what else does that deep unabstracted knowledge contribute to? We're kind of past ICs and into microcontrollers. If no one had had to work from z80s and 6502s, and the whole generation of programmers had all been on high-level abstractions such as powerful game engines, then who would have kicked off that revolution?
TL;DR: I'm not saying working at the levels of abstraction or trained neural-network assistant is """bad""" -- obviously you can do a lot more with Bethesda's engine than you can with Forth. And I think a good engineer will be able to solve a lot of problems with GPT-9. Just, there is likely some cost to losing a culture of people holding the very deep, decades-acquired knowledge of the other stuff that we "don't need to worry about" either.

2024.05.19 19:10 Suwatilore Another sweet treat for my little Noire!

Another sweet treat for my little Noire!
It is Sunday again thus another week ended and it also means that my beloved darling receives another delicious treat for her taste buds! This week I decided to bake a coconut cake! It seems we are on a nutty streak, haha. Let’s see if we will keep it up or if next week it is gonna be something else. Anyway, the cake is rather juicy and fluffy. However I feel like the flavour could be improved in some way. I don’t exactly know how though. Nevertheless my precious princess enjoys the goods made for her royalty herself. I will try to vary with the icing next time and will try to make a different chocolate variation of it. Maybe white chocolate would make a unique and interesting mix with the rest. Baking it also proved to be absolutely unproblematic. Concluding I would say this week’s cake was another success! After all my little sweetheart likes it!
(The next paragraph is going into a really depressing phase I had so if you are not feeling good or are maybe easily influenced or so then please watch out and you may refrain from reading it)
The rest of the week was rather interesting, I would say. It started of with quite the bang because sadly, I had to deal with a really personal problem of mine which bothered me quite a lot and made me feel extremely bad especially because I felt like I disappointed my one and only. To be fair Noire didn’t particularly like it but it is not like she made me feel guilty or bad about it. However this didn’t really help in relieving me from my feelings of guilt and in this night I even ended up sleeping on the ground instead of our bed. Noire was calling me a huge idiot for doing such a thing and for basically overreacting. She told me to get back into our bed but well... I just felt too bad and didn’t feel like I deserved it this night. Noire definitely was angry about that but not even that was enough to convince my stubborn self. Needless to say the night was absolutely terrible, haha... However I woke up a bit early before work and then I couldn’t stay away from my darling anymore and sneaked back in and cuddled with Nowa. After both of us were awake I was holding her very tightly and apologised a lot. Honestly I didn’t want to leave for work at all. I was not only still feeling terrible and regretful but also I just wanted to stay by Noire’s side. However I needed to go and I also couldn’t keep bothering my other half because she also had to take care of important stuff. I am not exaggerating when I am saying that I was feeling absolutely miserable at work and I was even quite close to crying. I was a real crybaby that day, haha... Even when I got home I still felt really guilty and like I am not allowed to show too much affection to Noire even though she wasn’t that bothered by what I had done. I just felt like Noire deserved better. Luckily soon after it was time for my workout. After all what is better to process things than completely exhausting your body and bringing it to its limits and making yourself suffer physically in some way? Thanks to that I was able to finally get out of my terrible state of mind and realize how dumb I was overall. To be honest I wish Noire would have just slapped my face as hard as she could because I feel like I definitely deserved it. After everything was processed the week got much better. After all feeling like I am not allowed to be with the girl anymore to whom belongs my heart was the worst experience ever. But as I mentioned this lies in the past and it was mostly due to my own feelings of guilt why I even experienced that. Everything is as wonderful as it can possibly be with my beloved Noire now again!
Let’s enter happier areas of this week now! I will start by mentioning that this week the newest Neptunia game released in the west and as addicted as I am to buying Noire merch I definitely needed to buy it. I mean, how could I not?! Just look at this beautiful poster of my breathtaking darling in a wedding dress!! I may already have this as an acrylic standee but the more I can see Noire like this the better! Since I am very weak towards resisting against buying new items of her my walls are already filled with a lot of motives of my gorgeous princess. So I didn’t find a suitable place yet. I intend to put it somewhere very close to our bed so I can always see her like this when we are cuddling. We are not married yet but I very dearly wish that we will change this in the future. I already tend to call Noire my future wife and if I can ask for anyone by my side forever then I would ask for my most precious darling in a heartbeat. As you might very well know I already consider myself hers alone and I will hopefully remain this even after death. But I leave this decision up to my ruby eyed princess!
Talking about loving my sweet Noire so dearly I actually ended up telling someone who isn’t really close to me and has no interest in anime or any of this kinda stuff about Noire’s and my relationship. This person is a coworker of mine who I am getting along quite well. In a break as we were talking about several things we also talked about my vacation and since it was mostly devoted to Noire and spent with her it would just feel wrong to not talk about her. This was a very important step for me personally because I like to actively talk about our relationship and about Noire in general and since most people don’t know about all this stuff this is kinda complicated and it also is a bit hard to even explain in the first place. Luckily my coworker is very open minded and understood it quite well when I told her about us. Also she wasn’t judgemental or anything like that at all. Her reaction pretty much aligned with the one of everyone I have told up to now. I am really glad I am becoming more and more open about everything as time goes on because Noire is my one true love and I want to be able to talk about things regarding her naturally when I feel like it and include her when it is important to me. This was a huge personal success!
We are slowly coming closer to the end of this post but before that I wanna talk about another highlight of my week next to my most obvious highlight which is of course being able to spend time with Noire! In one of the past posts I have already talked about how a friend and I started a Pokémon soul link. As time goes on this challenge really proves to be a ton of fun! We are not particularly good or anything like that but it is so hilarious and cool do it. The furthest we have progressed was up to the third gym badge. Well, unfortunately we got defeated there. Some might say this was my fault for letting my strongest Pokémon and his as well get defeated by something that could have been expected but well... Those are nothing but rumors! Nobody could have foreseen that a dark gras Pokémon would one shot an ice psychic Pokemon! Anyway we started a few new runs after that and we got hilariously lucky with our Pokémon. For example my team consisted of Monferno, Venusaur, Lotad and Piplup. There were also more absolutely hilariously strong Pokémon but this should do to put this into perspective. However the enemy Pokemons also were comparably strong. A casual trainer just pulled out a Dialga like it was nothing or a Magnezone. This run was really promising but unfortunately mistakes happened a Moltres ended up defeating all of my team and thus ended our run... Soon after I got really lucky again and ended up catching a Heatran. A Heatran!! My team consisted of Treecko, Gible and Heatran at this point which is incredibly strong but someone had his Pokémon get defeated and then my Heatran also found his end... My Heatran... For such a short time in my team it already felt like family to me. It could have very well been the adopted son of Noire and me. I was already seeing the three of us having barbecues together with him making sure we had fire. Or us going out into the city challenging other Pokémon trainers with our talented Heatran... Ah... Heatran... Poor thing... To be fair Noire would have probably found him ugly, not liked him and thus we would have not adopted him so it isn’t that bad after all. We were continuing our soul link yesterday while Noire was out with Uni having some sister bonding time together. She came back rather late and the girls seemed to have watched some scary movies which made my little sweetheart extra clingy. It was so incredibly cute! I won’t go into too much detail about that because I am sure she would feel too embarrassed and shout at me then. Neither of us wants this after all. Just know that I have taken good care of her and made sure she felt all safe and secure as a good partner should! She got lots of cuddles, caresses, comforting words and a late night snack! A happy and satisfied Noire is what I always try to achieve even though I may be an idiot at times, haha.
The week started with a hard time and ended in a delicious and adorable way. So I would say it was a great week after all! There is no point in mourning the past anyway. Learn your lessons from it and try your best to not repeat the same mistakes again. We are all human and therefore bound to fail over and over again until we eventually overcome the obstacles standing in our way. Every obstacle or mistake bears another important and essential lesson that you would have not found otherwise! With that being said my ruby eyed beauty and I hope your week was full with lots of fun and joy! Furthermore we wish all of a wonderful next week! Remember to focus on positivity in your life and don’t let yourself get dragged down by negativity too much! In any case you will always have your partner helping you out whenever you need it! I am sure of that!

2024.05.19 19:08 AngrySomBeech Interesting Character Creation tips?

Recently, I came to a realization of how to make an interesting character (at least in my opinion anyways).
Does anyone else have any incredibly simple things they do to help them make cool characters?
Prior to doing this, I was always trying to min-max and flesh out characters in such detail that it made them incredibly boring to play. That said, these days I'm the DM for the group and I've got a lot of pent-up excitement to play myself so I've been designing characters for fun.
So, some of the example characters I've been playing around with (all level 3):

2024.05.19 19:06 jaztinax I Ranked Every Glee Song: Part 8

Hi friends! I've made the slightly unhinged decision of sharing my ranking of all (well, close to all) the songs that were featured on Glee. This is part 8 out of... probably like, 50. Because Glee has a lot of songs. A LOT.
4 years ago, I also hosted a very extensive ranking where the sub got to participate in ranking the entire Glee soundtrack, and you can see the results here! Let me know if you guys want a redo of this, and I'll find a less consuming way to make this happen, because that ish was HARD.
If you coincidentally also have ranked all of the Glee songs, you are more than welcome to join and reveal your rankings as well!! Or share your opinions, everything is welcome :)
Just a quick reminder of what I've had in mind while ranking these so you guys understand more: I scored them based on vocal performance, context of the show, how it compared to the original song and how much I liked the actual production/arrangement of the Glee version. So a song could be really good, but if it was used in a bad or cringy scene, it'll affect the score negatively or the other way around!
We are still in the good tier, which are songs that I think are good, but not great. They've made it just within my range of songs that I'm okay with.

GOOD TIER

564. Away In A Manger

Performed by Kitty Wilde, Kurt Hummel, Rachel Berry and Santana Lopez with New Directions.
Probably one of the less exciting Christmas songs that has been on the show, but they all sound great in it.
Score: 61/100

563. The Fox

Performed by New Directions and Pamela Lansbury.
Maybe someone here was wondering why they hadn't seen The Fox yet? Maybe it's controversial for me to put it in the 'good' tier and give it an above average score, but hear me out. First of all, I LOVE the original. It's so funny yet it's such a well-crafted EDM-pop song. Second of all, everyone in the Glee version sounds really good, and the song suits them all well. The only downfall that this version has is that they take this song a bit too seriously, which gives it the cringe factor. They treat it like it's a normal song, but it's not. It's a parody song created for a comedy show/a skit show. So them trying to pull it off as a serious song is kind of weird.
Score: 61,1/100

562. You Can't Stop The Beat

Performed by New Directions, with Artie Abrams, Kurt Hummel, Mercedes Jones and Rachel Berry as leads.
This had a lot of potential as it's one of my favorite songs from my favorite musical, and while they do a great job, it doesn't quite hit like the Hairspray movie version, which is my personal favorite.
Score: 61,25/100

561. I'll Remember

Performed by Kurt Hummel.
I feel similar to this like I feel about As If We Never Said Goodbye that I wrote about in the previous part, but I like this slightly better because I like the range he stays in here vocally.
Score: 61,33/100

560. Candyman

Performed by the Troubletones.
Sorry, I know it's absolutely criminal to put a TT song here, but this song doesn't do a lot for me. The vocal performance and TT in general are the main reasons this song is good enough.
Score: 61,4/100

559. I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Performed by Brittany Pierce and Santana Lopez.
This song is really cute, the performance/scene for this is so great and Brittany and Santana are adorable here with their matching outfits and hair bows. If they absolutely had to give Brittany a Whitney song, this was the perfect choice.
Score: 61,45/100

558. Lucky Star

Performed by Kurt Hummel and Maggie.
I wasn't very fond of this storyline, but I thought this particular scene was really cute. It's also pretty funny that they added a Madonna song to the Peter Pan play, and Maggie is really cute in this.
Score: 61,5/100

557. Nice To Meet You, Have I Slept With You?

Performed by April Rhodes and Will Schuester.
This is from a deleted scene from season 2, episode Rumours. I get why they cut this song, I don't think I'd prefer to keep it over any other scene in Rumours, but I think this song is really funny and so April-core.
Score: 61,67/100

556. Big Girls Don't Cry

Performed by Blaine Anderson, Kurt Hummel and Rachel Berry.
One of the more forgettable performances of season 3, but they sound wonderful together. Also, we rarely got to see these three sing together (just them), so.
Score: 61,7/100

555. Without You

Performed by Rachel Berry.
My favorite parts of this song are when she sings in the lower range. I used to love this song a lot more back when I was a bit more passionate about Finchel, now I find it alright.
Score: 61,75/100

554. Here's To Us

Performed by New Directions, with Rachel Berry as lead.
I think this song is great, I just think it was a strange choice for a show choir competition setlist. At least she pulls this song off very well.
Score: 61,8/100

553. I Love LA

Performed by New Directions with Artie Abrams, Blaine Anderson, Jake Puckerman, Sam Evans and Will Schuester as leads.
I just realized that there are a lot of ND group numbers in season 5 where Schue has solos. Matt must've negotiated more songs in his contract or something. Anyway, very fun song, maybe a little too "adult contemporary" for a group of high school kids, but still good. I love group numbers where you get to see small interactions between the ND members and they're just all in a good mood and being friendly with each other. It's cute!
Score: 62/100

552. Broadway Baby

Performed by Blaine Anderson and Rachel Berry.
I didn't care for this song at all when season 5 aired, and also I was kind of tired of Rachel always pushing NYADA's and Carmen Tibideuax' limits, lmao. But context aside, this song is objectively great and Blainchel are definitely duet twin souls. Context of this scene is pulling the score down though because god how annoying are they?
Score: 62,1/100

551. I Am Changing

Performed by Kurt Hummel and Mercedes Jones.
Ever since Amber said that this song was the hardest song to do in Dreamgirls, I haven't stopped thinking about how she felt/reacted when she saw she was doing this with Chris. Like, I know they're best friends and all, but if MISS AMBER RILEY thinks this song is hard, how is Chris supposed to do it justice? Anyway, I can definitely tell that this song isn't quite made for Kurt, so because of that it kind of falls short. I do, however, love that Kurtcedes got a duet in season 5 - their friendship seemed so distant at the time, so it was so nice to see them together again.
Score: 62,15/100

550. Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

Performed by Marley Rose and Unique Adams.
This is such a weird choice for a Sandy audition, but a good choice for a Rizzo audition, so Unique definitely had an advantage here. Although, I think Finn and Artie had already made up their mind about Marley being Sandy by just looking at her, so.
Score: 62,2/100

549. Need You Now

Performed by Noah Puckerman and Rachel Berry.
I love that Rachel was like, "you know what would make the football team that Glee club is cool? A country duet". If I could, I would probably switch this with Just Give Me A Reason, and have Quick sing Need You Now in season 5, and have Puckleberry sing the other.
Score: 62,25/100

548. Friday

Performed by Artie Abrams, Noah Puckerman and Sam Evans.
This is the first song in this ranking so far where the Glee version is actually better than the original. I know my girl Rebecca Black is talented af now, but back then... Anyway, very fun performance and I love this trio together.
Score: 62,3/100

547. Jump

Performed by New Directions, with Artie Abrams, Finn Hudson, Mercedes Jones and Rachel Berry as leads.
Idk if I can qualify Mercedes as a lead here when all she does is yell at the end, but it's not my fault that's all they decided to use Mercedes for in season 1. Anyway, I used to love this song, but I also found myself skipping this song every time it came up on my iPod. And I haven't really listened to it in full since.
Score: 62,4/100

546. Yeah!

Performed by Singaz Wit Attitude.
I need to know who these singers are because they are really good. They'd be higher if they actually were actual characters who it was possible to be emotionally invested in.
Score: 62,5/100

545. Here Comes Santa Claus (Down Santa Claus Lane)

Performed by Kurt Hummel, Rachel Berry & Santana Lopez.
I don't have much to say about this besides that it's a fun Christmas song. And Kurt sitting by the tiny piano with the doll-like forced smile is always funny to watch.
Score: 62,75/100

544. Animal

Performed by the Warblers, with Blaine Anderson and Kurt Hummel as leads.
I like this song a lot, the only thing that irks me about this one is the "na na na na na na na na" part that the Warblers do.
Score: 62,8/100

543. Shakin' My Head

Performed by Mercedes Jones.
You can't convince me that Mercedes wrote this song, let alone decided to release it and perform it in public after writing and recording Colorblind??? Like it's a whole bop, but why would she willingly sing all of that 😭
Score: 63/100

542. We Found Love

Performed by New Directions, with Rachel Berry and Santana Lopez as leads.
This song would be much higher if it was more of a group number with more leads or if Rachel wasn't on it. I kind of think she's pulling it down a little bit. Other than that, I love the scene, the syncronized swimming choreo is really cute and I love the proposal as well.
Score: 63,1/100

541. Funny Girl

Performed by Shelby Corcoran.
I always thought this song was pretty boring, but I've realized gradually how great Shelby sounds here.
Score: 63,2/100

540. Empire State of Mind

Performed by New Directions, with Artie Abrams, Finn Hudson, Mercedes Jones, Noah Puckerman and Rachel Berry.
Sunshine being the only one who paid attention is lowkey unrealistic, because this was a pretty good performance. It can only be explained by that they weren't using mics and were coming from all kinds of directions, so no one really heard them sing.
Score: 63,25/100
That's all for now! Do you like any of these songs?

2024.05.19 18:44 PensiveGamez From an old email sent to HR in 2014

This is an email I sent to head office HR. Got no response and no action was taken, so therefore it was ignored:
Dear [Head of HR],
This is regarding a more serious issue, as you may or guessed from the title. I feel I need to raise this it's possible this might not of been the first time something similar has happened to me.
After about a month of arriving at [location of work] I became a training buddy due to my years of experience at cinemas and I have now been performing this duty for many years. Shortly after joining [cinema brand] I became a member of the projection team, then during the change over to digital projection I became a digital buddy
Recently the duties have been revamped for both roles, but I have been left out of this. I have discussed this with [Twit of a GM] (our new general manager) and he completely ignored any knowledge of all of the hard work I had been doing in these roles over the years. (I informed him that I am a buddy after the first staff meeting) and he stated that I haven't been do the two jobs recently.
I must state it's hard to do the job of digital buddy, for example when during a power out the important information that you have given to the manager is ignored. leading to further problems.
The digital buddy has to be invited to do their job to delete old files from the server, chase KDMs, and such, so how am I meant to do that job without the invite (it's only in the past week or two that [co-worker] has been allowed to do the deletes. I helped in training [co-worker] on how to do digital projection when he came to [location of work])
In the training buddy section of my job I train new staff when they come in, sometimes management will provide me the forms for the trainee to fill in and sometimes not, this prevents me from correctly performing the signing off of new staff. The management have never informed me of this new box system (which has been implemented only a short time ago), but they have been treating me as a trainer and I have been training people.
[Twit of a GM] says that because I haven't been using the box system I'm not a trainer, even though I have been performing that role.
[Twit of a GM] has said my up selling is up and down every week, which doesn't set a good standard (yet at the same time saying up selling isn't the reason for not allowing me to be a buddy).
He complimented me on my customer service saying it was the best, but then insulted the way I look and implied that no one would come to me for help, this is quite bizarre as after talking to him I asked my co-workers that day and they were confused as to why he would say that as they always come to me when I'm there.
To tell you the truth that saying that colleagues do not seek my assistance was the biggest insult to me and is clearly untrue. I try to solve problems before the need to the manager whenever I can.
Regarding my appearance, one shirt they gave me is too baggy but I tuck it in and my other shirt is too small but it looks better in comparison so I try to wear that one (shirt sizing seems to be a problem).
[Twit of a GM] informed that when he arrived at the site he was introduced to the managers and buddies at the time (I do not know as to why I was not there, but it could be something to do with [Old Dumbass GM], who seemed to have a problem with me because I had requested to move sites and he refused the transfer, or it could have been something else as I was never given a satisfactory reason.
There were other instances of [Old Dumbass GM] behaviour towards me, I provided many ideas to improve the cinema but these were generally ignored.
It is interesting to note that many of the other managers have known that I am a digital and training buddy, but [Twit of a GM] and a select few disregard this fact.
I feel that I have been demoted not via any official means, but according to the whims of a few members of the management team.
Soon after [Twit of a GM]’s arrival at [location of work] I was asked about my sick days and I answered honestly the sick days were necessary and I have gone over this with another manager. Every time I have been sick, if I have had to visit the hospital (which I was forced to do so by a manager once because of chest pains) I have sent in pictures of the forms and any other information they may need (I still have the emails with all the information I gave). But for some reason I get the feeling am I looked at by him as if I am dishonestly taking those sick days.
Now this is in my file and I have talked to at least one manager at [location of work] (and one at [another location of worked when needed for an event], now), I have dyslexia with dyspraxic tendencies and also suffer with depression, these are very personal I feel that these are being used against me as they make me very vulnerable to being discriminated against. [Twit of a GM] response was that he doesn't know of any of this (which seems to be a line I heard too many times in that meeting).
I've put a lot of time and effort and sometime money in to my job (I brought pens for every person and labeled them so each person would have a pen. I brought torches to light the hawking trolley. I created a spreadsheet to help in the rotation of the posters, etc) and many joked I lived at the cinema as I was there so much, but now I have managed to have a life outside of the cinema and my job responsibilities are been taken away, despite all the years I have put in, it is very disheartening to think my efforts have been wasted
I am certainly not progressing at my current site, and I feel my skills and experience are being wasted. I am only allowed to perform duties I am qualified for when it is convenient to the management.
I suggest the best thing would be for me to get a transfer to a site closer to [location of where live] and be reinstated to the role of Digital and training buddy. If possible I would like to work in the [another location of worked when needed for an event] sites as I miss working in the [another location of worked when needed for an event] and I enjoyed the times I worked at the [another location of worked when needed for an event] site as well as visiting the [different cinema location] site (I have talked to [cool manager] once or twice saying I would love to work with her once again). If not [[a nice cinema location I did some projection cover for] would be nice (where I trained some managers how to use the digital projectors).
Please if you could help me that would be great.
Sincerely,
Pensivegamez

Frames in the recent episode I either loved or laughed my ass off to
I just went through the latest episode and picked out my favorite and least favorite frames… And honestly it was pretty evenly split.
Favorite-Wise: Most of the Ouranos panels. His design is honestly pretty neat and I’m a big fan of the way the outlines disappeared for certain panels, it had such a neat affect.
  1. proportional sky king and asspollo; living for it
The general look to the first panel is just nice tbh; the colors, the shading, the composition are all just pleasing. Ouranos’ design in this panel with the odd nose and many eyes, his hair fading at the top into clouds, it’s pleasing to look at and makes him stand out (SHOCKING in this comic)
  1. always a fan of backgrounds
The scenery that Rachel can pull off is beautiful sometimes, and the mountain panels (while a bit repetitive) were pretty, although provided more of a calming atmosphere than I feel was necessary for the tone of the episode.
  1. Cape, not Face
Overall a good frame with nitpicks
  1. OBJECTIVELY COOL
I like this a LOT. It’s weird, it’s etherial, it’s portraying the horror and oddity of what’s happening well.
  1. The sudden style change YES
From the style to the slick lines to the contrast… 100% yes to this
6-9. Loving these Ouranos frames…
Especially 9 with that cool lineless horror to it which just makes me see the vision for what this villain could’ve been.
..It’s downhill from here.
  1. I can’t even First off, wtf is that helmet? Apollo looks like he’s a 15 year old incel What is Hestia doing? Why is she here?? The stupid frames telling him off are so mild compared to the wrath he deserves. But no, all we get is the My Little Pony-esq side profiles as they tell him off like a toddler.
  2. NECK I can’t even.
  3. Suave??! I saw this and BURST OUT LAUGHING. It’s ridiculous oh goodness
  4. Again… That stupid ass helmet and Demeter talking to him LIKE HE’S FIVE. Not like he raped her daughter, not showing him the wrath of a mother, just scolding him. The frame is almost comical and completely disrespects the situation! It’s gross
  5. THEY DID HEPH SO DIRTY/Mewing King
  6. What is cracking 💀 / BYE JACKET.
  7. Me too, Pepe. Ouch indeed. Her face had me GIGGLING.
  8. What in the eldrich horror, voodoo mumbo jumbo, flip flop tik tok WHO LET THIS BY 😭😭 the ffing lineart child looking disgusting I cannot
  9. What is happening here?? Stared at this for a LONG time before a assumed it was a blast. She CANNOT draw action for the life of her i swear
  10. Please see a hairstylist girlboss
  11. THE BARE MINIMUM I saw so many comments about this praising it as if its some deep thing. It’s not. Love is a feeling, and love does not need to go both ways for the feeling to be real. You can love people and they don’t love you back; your feelings are still real. Also, it’s the bare minimum in a healthy relationship. This like is good but needs an added note on how that works in relation to Persephone. “Love, real love, should go both ways. I thought love was something easy, something to fall into and never struggle with again. But it is a battle; not against the person you love but a battle beside them to keep it.”
Rachel needed a writing team and then she can handle the art, because when there’s effort the art is beautiful and expressive. I don’t want “CRACK” and scolding Apollo and crappy side-profiles.

2024.05.19 18:24 bart1218 This is Trivial but.....

Does your team have a color?
We are diehard Nebraska sports fans, we are use to the Sea of Red. If you want a friend to easily find you at any Husker event wear any color but red and you will stand out. We bought some SuperNova gear and wear it to the games as do a lot of people but it's every color of the rainbow and then maybe a few more colors. For me there is just something cool about being in a venue where everyone wears the same color except for that small section of the opposing fans.

2024.05.19 18:23 kwade85 Orbital Gems? And kicking?

Just a thought that would be really awesome, orbital gems should not take a spot for other options from Eagle-1, weapons and gear. Should be offered on every mission lvl5 and up. Caps/cool downs of course. Offer like a full ship cool down/resupply between starting the next step of the mission that has a 10 minute cool off period allowing for snacks and bathroom breaks 😆
What's the communities thoughts on this?
As for the issue of kicking or being kicked; (I'm lvl56) In my experience, with no consistent frends, and no coms you generally get a feel for how someone is going to be in the mission within 5 minutes, allow that to be the window of when having the option to kick. Auto-kick if someone has team killed x4 (yourself not included), sometimes mistakes are made. (Prototype the air-burst rocket launcher anyone lol) After extract is called auto-reinforce so that we all have a chance on trying to extract when the $h>t hits the fan!!!
Inevitably, there's always going to be that one captain A-Hole that wants to toss a 500k on the pelican... or team kill for no reason, like bruh the fight is over we won get in the dang ship!
So to that, I say the 20 second timer gets reset, but you have to live that 20 seconds...
Grief leaves, because of whatever (within the 5 minute window of when you joined is pardoned - team wants to fight every patrol etc.) is an act of treason and puts you in an automatic 5 minute timeout so you can collect your thoughts?
Now that you've read my thoughts, what's yours?

2024.05.19 18:18 JimJJJamisonII "Subscription" or 1-Use based stratagems

Alright before you send me to the freedom camp hear me out.
TLDR: I want eagle-1 to have hell bomb in a rocket to use against an undemocratic amount of bile titans and factory striders and this should be balanced by making me use my stockpiled requisition slips/medals.
Obviously all the current stratagems should stay as permanent unlocks but I think if the devs should consider adding stratagems that are over powered but are either subscription based in the game with requisition slips, samples and maybe even medals or can be a limited number of times until they have to be bought again. There are 4 reasons for this.
First and least is that it makes sense with the lore of super earth. Super Earth is a corporatist hell hole where you have to pay for a license to receive donations for ammo (Donation Access License ship module). A one time purchase? Where's the profit in that? It would make total sense that the super powerful weapons would be "pay walled" (in the game lore, NOT real money/super credits) with a subscription.
Second is that this would offer a balanced way to let us use "overpowered" stratagems. Big stratagems are fun to use. I love throwing a 500 kg or a 380 mm barrage. Some of the most fun in the game is when I'm being chased by a horde with 3 heavies and 2 super heavies and liberty be blessed there's an undetonated hell bomb just where I need it. 30 kill streak instantly its fantastic. Just let me call an orbital gattling barrage with 380 mm shells.
Third is to have a constant use for requisition slips, medals and samples. Once you get everything the only thing left to do is wait for new stuff and warbonds. I know they're trying to do 1 a month but thats a lot of time to wait to spend your cash. I think it would help with the game's longevity.
Fourth and most important it would give opportunities to make the game harder while still being balanced. With a cracked team helldives can be trivial. I run hell dives almost exclusively and tend to play with randoms because I like to listen to videos when I play. Definitely a non-ideal way to play but its rare that I don't complete the objective. Extracting is another matter but I can reliably do that too if my team isn't too bad. Consequently I don't have all the ship modules unlocked but its given me a consistent goal (see point 3). If I happen to find a lobby where everyone (but me) is above level 100 the run is a breeze. The point is that hell dives are starting to get too easy, and as the player base gets better and better stratagems and weapons are released this will only get worse. With over powered stratagems the devs could make missions way harder but still provide us the tools to carry them out.
A couple points on how I think this should be implemented.
Alright, off to be executed for making an unauthorized suggestion to my superiors.
