2024.05.20 09:25 Darkendheart Just got the game and I have an odd question.

So, my friend and I have been keen on getting the game and finally have it but have yet to start a save as we also want to include my partner, however there is a small problem that I have tried Googling and looking for but have found no answer. My partner unfortunately has a pretty severe case of emetophobia and as I cannot find anything, I was hoping you lovely people could answer if the game has anything regarding that. Any animations, noises, visuals or even words in dialogue referencing or showing or talking about it. I am okay with spoilers if the answer is yes but for a specific scene so we can skip it. Thank you very much!

2024.05.20 09:23 BSGBramley Dark Souls 3 review

Time to review the final Dark Souls game, and man it one of my favourites. We all know what this game is, so let's dive right in.
Gameplay:
Dark Souls 3 has some of my favourite areas and level designs of the series, alongside some of my favourite bosses. The games tempo has taken a leaf from Bloodborne and been sped up, but your character moves so much faster to compensate for that.
The reuse of differing zones from the previous games is incredible and I loved the nostalgia hit, recontextualising not only old maps, but aspects of old boss designs too.
From have added a new system called weapon arts, which is a fun way to customise your weapons and give mana a purpose for melee focused builds, however I used very little of them, and Yhorm the Giant, this games gimmick fight is incredible and tied to one of my favourite side quests.
Story, Level Design & Art:
The level and art design here are again top notch. I mentioned I didn’t like Dark Souls 2 art direction, and I’m happy to report Dark Souls 3 pivoted back to the dark grim atmosphere and tone, with the graphics being better than any of its predecessors. Maps interlinking are back, not on a map wide scale, but similar to Bloodborne sections of a map will loop back on itself so you reuse the bonfire 2 or 3 times before moving on. It’s great... however, I do find the bonfire placements an odd choice, with most boss rooms having a bonfire outside of the room, and the boss room generating a bonfire once it has been defeated. Meaning you occasionally get two bonfires less that ten steps from each other. It’s not a bad or a good thing, it just seems weird.
The story of the base game again didn’t really hook me like the firsts as ‘it’s just another cycle’ made worse, by not closing some threads. The three crowns DLC of Dark Souls 2 posed many interesting questions with a few big ramifications, and it’s never mentioned again which was a huge shame. I would have been happy if it was mentioned In the DLC, but no. as far as I’m aware it’s as if it never happened. I would have even been happy if it was touched on in the DLC, or could be seen on a boss who hasn’t hollowed because of it. But nope, no mention that I found (but please correct me if I am wrong here and missed something) That said, I really enjoyed the DLC’s here. I will say the painted world seems a little short for its price point, but the final boss of it is excellent. The final DLC, however, it excellent. Visually it was a little disappointing to see so many vistas you can’t travel too but the story, theme and boss battles were my favourite in the series, with a double battle with demons being my favourite dual battle of any soulslike.
Conclusion:
Dark Souls 3 is the culmination of everything they have learned and honed from their previous games. The Bosses, atmosphere, level design is all incredible, with some of the best bosses in the series being here. It’s a shame some story threats of old weren’t addressed and the best story is locked behind some pricey DLC. But it’s an incredible ending to an incredible trilogy.

2024.05.20 09:23 Nikkibraga Guns of the Patriots: emulate or wait for MCVol2?

Greetings everyone, I'm playing the series right now and I've just completed Snake Eater.
I chose to buy the Master Collection Vol.1 to play the first three games, so my question: should I wait for Master Collection Vol.2 to play Guns of the Patriots and Peace Walker or it's better to emulate them now?
I seriously can't wait to see what's going on in the next games, but at the same time I don't know how good the emulated experience is.

2024.05.20 09:21 No_Break7494 video games more important?

M/23 23/F we have been dating for a long time. two years to be exact.
we live together and i don’t have anybody else (my own fault). he comes home, gets on his game all the way until he sleeps. ive been dealing with a lot of issues in my brain & i’ve struggled a lot on getting help. ive been keeping about 99% of my issues to myself. including my insecurities in our relationship. lately ive been trying to express my issue with us. that he doesn’t need to spend all day everyday on video games. i’m a gamer as well and i even know to be there for him when he needs me. i will put my game down, close it, just to make sure he is okay. earlier today, i was struggling. i asked him to please help out. i’ve been expressing to him for the past few days, months, weeks, that his gaming is causing an issue in our relationship & making me feel awful. but he continues to still play everyday. ignoring me. anyways. i asked him earlier to help & he ignored me, staring right at me, then goes to his friends on his game. i’ve been threatening a break up because he doesn’t seem to be getting the hint. well, i went into my living room & he hasn’t left at all. he has been gaming for 7 hours at this point & he can’t even get off just to fix our relationship for a night. instead he is snap chatting me. we live together, to mention again
anyways, i’m bad at explaining things, so please ask questions too.
should i leave him? is this a relationship i cannot mend?

2024.05.20 09:21 Nozogod Are NezumiVA's streams a good way to experience Umineko?

I'm a big fan of visual novels - love em. I've heard good things about Umineko for ages but have always been put off by the gargantuan length. Recently I learned a content creator I enjoy the videos of has been doing streams of Umineko - it seems they've done a whole lot so far with an upcoming stream finishing the "Question arcs", whatever that means. My question is, to anyone who's seen them, is this a viable way to experience it? It would be a lot more convenient to watch and listen than to have to boot up the game and play it myself, but I don't want to get a meaningfully hampered experience - I don't know if the streams have spoilers or heavy commentary or anything. I know there's a prequel of some kind - do I need to experience that first? And if I do end up enjoying the streams and reaching the end of the 80+ hours of content, will I be able to hop into the other half of the game myself without too much trouble?

2024.05.20 09:20 Various_Locksmith761 Should I buy kotor?

Probably a dumb question to ask fans but I’ve been wanting to play a Star Wars game where I can be a sith. I’ve played the mmo (the old republic) but I heard that kotor is better. I’ve found 1 and 2 on eBay for around $15 for both but my problem is I don’t really have a lot of spending money. I just lost my job recently and it feels like every penny we do earn ends up going towards bills. I’m a huge Star Wars fan but would love to get into more stuff like this and the novels. Is it worth it? How is the gameplay? Does it play like the MMO (which is kinda like Warcraft)? How is the dialog? Is there romance? How would you rate it out of ten? Anything you can tell me to aid my decision would be appreciated thank you all.

2024.05.20 09:20 BarryBlock78 Refreshing playthrough

I’ve played through new vegas easily 10+ times by now and while they were all great but this newest playthrough i’m going through right now has easily got to be one of my favorites. why you ask? well the answer to that question…. it’s completely vanilla! yep, i know, faint while you still can but i’m loving it. everytime i’ve played fnv, from my first playthrough, to my most recent have all been on PC and modded. sure some were just simple quality of life mods and others were drastic changes to the game but they were all modded nonetheless, however i just started up a playthrough on my Series X and by god it’s so fucking enjoyable for some reason. Idk if it’s the campy, horrible animations, the flat graphics, or the lack of more than 1 companion and different weapons and armors but i’m really, really loving it. i feel like i’m playing how the game was meant to be (literally)

2024.05.20 09:20 ExtraKiwi7 Courtside next to LeBron

Story:
So it was a home game for the Lakers and I got courtside seats near next to the team’s bench. During a quarter where the glorious king sunshine LeBron James was getting subbed out to recover his energy, that’s where I begun thinking of a small prank. I pulled out my phone, playing the track from Space Jam 2: A New Legacy (that starred LeBron) “We Win” - by Lil Baby and Kirk Franklin. I played it at a volume where it wasn’t blatantly loud for attention but basically still audible. As LeBron was skillfully watching and analyzing the game… the miracle happened.
He suddenly turned to his right looking at my phone as he questioned me with a curious smile/smirk: “Yo is that Lil Baby’s We Win?”. I replied as if I didn’t noticed him or even recognized who LeBron James was in order to maintain my composure/cool: “Hmm? oh yeah. You know this track?”. LeBron then said: “know it? It was in my Space Jam movie”. Then I was like: “word? The song played at the end credits right?”. LeBron answered: “Mhm that’s right. You watched the movie didn’t you?” as he playfully jabbed me with his goofy-funny expression, I went along with the vibe as we even sung a bit of the lyrics (LeBron didn’t know some of them).
We then resumed back to focusing on the game. Afterwards, LeBron gave me his game worn shoes from the night; surprisingly. I thanked him and everything, dapped each other up and went along our separate ways as I was internally blushing and giggling filled with so much joy.
In the end, I made this story all this up after watching that Cash Nasty vlog video where he sat courtside next to LeBron during the playoffs game with the Denver Nuggets. And I was just imagining what would I probably do if I was in that scenario. Le Digital Footprint (LeDigitalFootprint).

2024.05.20 09:19 coacht246 Are we Rivals?

I posted this on CFB and would like to see y'alls thoughts on this
I’m a Kentucky fan. Our success under Mark Stoops in making us an adequate SEC program has led us to enter the competition of who will finish behind Georgia in the SEC East. In this group are three teams Florida, South Carolina, and Missouri.
TLDR; is a completely self-indulgent piece about UK football and how their current success has brought the question of who the rivals are now. Florida is probably not due to historical success, it’s up to them to decide. Mizzou is our coworker, not a rival. South Carolina can eat a bag of dicks.
Also Fuck Tennessee
I think I should start by defining a rivalry. The two programs need to be close enough in short-term and long-term success to draw comparisons. Games between the schools need to occur regularly and there needs to be mutual hate.
Florida for years would beat the living shit out of us. Your players had career games, and draft highlight tapes. Every fan in the Bluegrass state loathed playing you all and we never thought we would see the day the mighty Florida Gators would whimper. The best moment of the series for us was when we knocked out Tim Tebow. It’s not because we like to see players injured, but because it felt cathartic to draw blood on our god-king overlords finally. Even in that game, we lost 41-7.
Now we have won three games straight, with us blowing y’all out last year. Even though we are 4-6 in the last 10 matchups, it is usually a competitive game with huge memorable plays. We check the boxes for playing regularly and it being competitive.
Is there hate?
Stoops hates Florida. He was a defensive coach at both Miami and FSU and has always brought a different intensity to the Florida game. When Stoops won his 100th game we celebrated by frying a Gator. Kentucky fans hate Florida, but do Florida fans even think about UK?
Florida has pissed off every fan base at some point. From the stupid “two bits” chant, corny ass chomp, and them chanting “it’s great to be a Florida Gator” after every TD. There’s nothing that pours salt in the wound quite like hearing that shit in your home stadium after Jeff Badet drops a wide-open game winning TD in the to lose the game.
Florida is hated by FSU, Miami, LSU, Tennessee(fuck you btw), Alabama, and Georgia. Historically they’re a three time national champion. I feel like they view us as a momentary speed bump until they reach CFB glory again. Unfortunately for them, that’s not true. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe Florida fans hate us and view us as little brother rivals. Florida fans let me know what you think.
Missouri? I put Missouri on the list because they fit the criteria. Historically they are a better program than UK, but since joining the SEC has been on par with UK. UK has a winning record against Missouri 9-5 and there have been no true blowouts. There have been some big plays late and controversial calls. Your players don’t like us. We fans hate having to travel to Mizzou to play, not because of the atmosphere (which is great btw) it’s just Missouri. I think the best way I can summarize my feelings is through an analogy.
I play NCAA 14 dynasties to completion. I go for either 60 years or until the game starts crashing. The problem is after you win 5 national championships in a row you can get anybody you want and the game isn’t a game anymore, it’s a job of being dominant. You’re faced with a choice either leave to a new school or edit your opponents to be a challenge. Each has these perks and shortcomings. Editing is very tedious but, you only have one dream school. The tedious part with editing is you can’t just make a bunch of guys 99 and call it a day. I’m sure a couple of teams don’t need the spit shine, but you can’t play 12 of the same boring team and you need to challenge yourself. What you have to do is edit their playbooks and schemes so they play in different and fun ways but more importantly you have to find out how to stop them. You can make a mimic team (they are you but a different color, crazy, right?), or triple option no-huddle, or my favorite the anti-thesis team, or whatever you can think of. The issue is some of these teams will make you eat shit on a platter. This forces you to either to De-edit the team - like a bitch - or get good. Getting good though requires discipline, repetition, and practice. My solution was to make less talented versions of these all 99 squads to play before I hand the big showdown. Kind of like a level boss before the BBEG.
My BBEG was an antithesis team and was Kentucky's most hated Rival Louisville. I had lost to them in a couple of blowouts so, to better myself I edited Temple. I picked them because they played at the Philadelphia Eagles Stadium, and the Eagles are my favorite team. I'm quite fond of Philidelphia due to Ben Franklin and Philly Cheesesteaks. I have nothing against the real-life University of Temple, but I ended up hating the Temple game more than Louisville's game. Louisville there was a challenge I had to play perfect to win, every play had stakes. One bad read and I cost my team a national title to our arch-rival. Temple, I knew I was going to win, but it was going to be a miserable slog. Temple would not allow ANY big plays and would only allow 3-4 yards at a time if you fell behind the sticks you had to punt. Every time a run went for negative yards or a sack it was like you were Sisphyus watching your boulder roll back down the hill at the end of the day. Fortunately, their offense was dog shit and it would be a quick 3&out. I would feel no gratification from winning, only relief that it was over. I never felt animosity or hatred towards them it just felt like they were just doing their job. I would root for them against other teams. Hoping the other teams would feel the same virtual torment I endured.
Missouri is Temple. I don’t care about them. I have complete apathy towards them. I don’t expect to win against them, I expect to endure 60 minutes of football. I never expect fun to creep into the occasion. If something fun happens, I expect it to happen by accident. I don't expect anyone to see the one cool play either, you will go to the restroom, return to your seat and see a replay of it, you'll ask your friend about that play. He will say "Oh... it wasn't that exciting." A Kentucky-Missouri football game is not a football game; it is a test of one’s fandom and loyalty to the game of football. It is an endurance of football on par with an Iowa football game, there is no joy, no happiness, no pleasure just two-yard runs and punts.
I don’t consider you a rival, I consider you a coworker that Greg Sankey makes us mud wrestle in a pool at our company Christmas party for our holiday bonus. I know it’s not your fault and it’s an experience we both must suffer through to get our wife’s boyfriends a collectors edition Optimus Prime.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this Missouri fans.
Hey South Carolina, GO FUCK YOURSELF!!! I hate your venereal disease ass state, I hate your Michael Scott ass coach, and I hate Darude Sandstorm. Who the fuck listen to that and thought “People need to hear this”
I’m sorry let me backtrack.
South Carolina historically is equal to Kentucky, only recently did Steve Spurrier make them an adequate SEC program. South Carolina does lead the series 20-14. The series has been marred by memorable moments and has been defined by streaks. Flames have been stoked when Beamer first joined USC, Stoops said “You can’t just put on some sunglasses and start winning games” in response to a corny ass tik tok Beamer made. Beamer is taking that personally as he brought a different level of energy to the games. There’s been more shots and there’s more history between the two coaches than just that but to keep it short and sweet they hate each other. The teams don’t like each other. I hate them. Their fans seem to not like us either. What are we gonna call this rivalry? I'm partial to the cock fight and the winner gets a golden pair of sunglasses. Let me know what you think South Carolina fans.
Ps go fuck your sister Tennessee

2024.05.20 09:18 whytfnot9 Potentially pointless question about past games

So way back in I think 2012 I got my hands on a copy of I think an age of empires game but it had modern and potentially futuristic ages. I had modern military units, specific leaders, planes, tanks and instead of someone on horse back I think they were on foot as an explorer. I could make custom maps if that helps. Partially going crazy trying to figure out what game it was but would also love to play it again if I can find it

2024.05.20 09:17 lehcsma_9 How to become better socially

I'm a 21-year-old male computer science major and software developer in my final year. Social situations can be overwhelming for me. While I don't dislike small talk, I struggle to initiate it. When conversations veer away from common topics like tech, movies, or books, I tend to get quiet and disengaged.
I understand that thriving socially requires some small talk ability and the capacity to converse with strangers about various topics. It's a concept I'm actively working on.
Recently, I met a great girl at an event. We had a fun conversation about our developer projects. However, the conversation stalled when I couldn't move beyond technical topics.
She seemed to connect well with my outgoing friends, who were joking and laughing together. Later, during a spontaneous speed-dating game with my friends (three guys and her), she called me a 'nerd' and mentioned finding me a bit quiet. It made me wonder if my calmness might be off-putting.
Look, I understand that not all women prefer quiet guys. So, the question is, how can I improve my social skills and become more comfortable in social settings?

2024.05.20 09:17 Gold_Gain1351 10 cs a minute

Hey folks,
So I've heard over and over that you should shoot for 10 cs a minute ideally. My question comes from being a silver mid laner who primarily mains Akshan, ASol, and Veigar. How the heck am I supposed to get that when silver games are chaotic fiestas at the best of times? According to op.gg I'm averaging 222.7cs a game which equates to 7.3 a minute according to the website. I know I can improve on last hitting (especially with Akshan's wonky to me double auto attack), but I'm curious if there's other ways I can find time to cs during the aforementioned fiestas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Op.gg - https://www.op.gg/summoners/na/SixtySevenWest12-NA1
I want to preface that with it's been a ROUGH start to my ranked split. I've had tons of folks run it down (I also goofed and accidentally queued for ranked twice when I meant to hit normal, thus the Yone and Anivia games). I'm slowly starting to turn it around, but it's going to be a long crawl to hit my goal of Gold 3.
Thanks in advance!

Destiny 2 Spot Gives Stasis Users Massive Advantage on Widow's Court Map
A recent discovery by a player has revealed a new vantage point on the Widow's Court map in Destiny 2, giving Stasis users a significant advantage. This revelation comes amid ongoing updates and changes in the game, adding another layer of complexity to the popular online shooter. Players have been eagerly discussing and experimenting with this new tactic, highlighting the continuous evolution of Destiny 2's gameplay dynamics.
Destiny 2, developed by Bungie, has a history of detailed map designs and strategic gameplay. Widow's Court, a well-known map, has been the site of many tactical discoveries. The introduction of Stasis in the Beyond Light expansion added new abilities that have been game-changing. Players have continually sought ways to leverage these abilities, and the discovery is the latest example of this ongoing pursuit. Destiny 2's upcoming Prismatic subclass, which combines Light and Dark abilities, has also been a significant focus, offering players unprecedented customization and strategic options.
The recent find by Reddit user Lolgisticalofficer involves a specific spot on the Widow's Court map where Destiny 2 players can use Stasis abilities to gain a high ground advantage. By deploying a Glacier Grenade in a precise location, players can create a platform that allows them to see and control the B flag area with ease. This tactic not only provides a clear line of sight but also offers a defensive stronghold that is hard for opponents to counter. The community's reaction has been a mix of admiration and frustration, with many players expressing their respect for ingenuity while also recognizing the potential imbalance it creates.
Destiny 2 Player Discovers New Vantage Point on Widow's Court
In addition to this discovery, Bungie has been making other significant updates to Destiny 2. The upcoming Prismatic subclass, which blends Light and Dark abilities, promises to further change the gameplay landscape. The Final Shape expansion will introduce new enemies, exotic armor, and gameplay zones, enhancing the game's depth and strategy. The developer's stream and subsequent blog posts have provided detailed insights into these changes, sparking excitement and anticipation among players.
The discovery on Widow's Court underscores the importance of player ingenuity in Destiny 2. It highlights how players continually find new ways to use the game's mechanics to their advantage. However, it also raises questions about game balance. While such discoveries add excitement and depth, they can also create frustration among players who feel disadvantaged. Bungie's ongoing challenge is to maintain a balance that keeps the game fair and enjoyable for all.
Despite these challenges, Destiny 2 continues to have a passionate and dedicated player base. The game's evolving nature and Bungie's responsiveness to player feedback are key reasons for its enduring popularity. As the community adapts to new strategies and Bungie rolls out updates, the dynamic between player discovery and developer adjustments will remain central to the game's appeal. Ultimately, the excitement around discoveries like Lolgisticalofficer's shows the vibrant and engaged community that makes Destiny 2 a standout title in the gaming world.

2024.05.20 09:11 Midnight_Recovery Any ideas to help my 6yo daughter not be afraid of the ball when trying to catch.

Hello everyone I hope this is the place for this question. Ima full time single parent have had my daughter full time the past 4years. As far back as I can remember she has always had an intrest in sports of all kinds. Dosent matter baseball, football, hockey you name it she's into it. Part of me feels like most of it is because of the whole being part of a team type of deal.
We recently got some gloves and we got the most softest ball we could possibly find. She was excite when picking out her glove trying them on to see which ones would fit ect.The first couple of days she was scared but excited.
However when it comes time for her to catch the ball she is scared. For the most part she will stand there with the glove at waist level facing up and she will catch it basically if I throw the ball into her glove. There are a few times she does catch it on her own however the glove stays the same no matter what. Waist level facing up and open. She's expressed to me she dosent want the ball to hit her. I tried explaining to her thats what the glove is there for, to help protect her if she dosent catch it at the very lease the glove will help to protect whatever area of her body the glove is covering in front of if that makes sence or not.
We have tried several diffeent ways to practice getting her used to catching the ball. Most importantly using the glove in more ways than one to catch the ball, instead of having the glove at waist level facing up and open. We have tried standing next to eachother hand each other the ball take a step back hand it off again take another step back short throw step back rinse n repeat. We have tried tossing the ball straight up in the air so she can get used to putting her glove in the air to try and catch the ball. We even went as far as getting a tennis ball bouncing it off the wall so she can catch it and she does the glove in the air but bending the rest of her body down including her face to avoid the ball hitting her.
I've always threw the ball under handed. Never threw the ball hard, she has the same fear when it comes to the tennis ball as well. I've tried telling her no matter what sports you play you always run the risk you might get her but so does everyone else that she is playing with, if it happends it only hurts for a little while the only thing that matters is if she has fun. If she worries less about the ball hitting her and spends more time focusing on just having fun that odds are she will for m get all about getting hit by the ball in no time. By all means I'm not trying to push the game on her this was her choice and I always double and triple check if she's positive she wants this.
She always responds this is what she wants she's just scared to get hit by the ball and it ends up hurting her.

2024.05.20 09:09 Tanabatama Reasons to Get back on watching Ultimate Tournaments Again Post Panda Drama

More than a year passed since the unfortunate events of November 2022.
As a casual gamer that got dissuaded from that civil war, I likely have missed the development and growth of the players and the metagame. That was the time when I switched to viewing other fighting game titles to this day.
Should a Smash Bros player also jump in, the more that moment becomes special for me.
At this point, with how Nintendo is handling the aftermath of the scene, here are my questions:
A. I need a reason as to why should I care? If not care, at least I need some stories from players to join along
B. VG Bootcamp. Oh Vg Bootcamp. Your ethics and results on the drama already made me stick on the fence. How much have the business owners changed? I have not heard any credibility talks on their business operations. Are they now running tournaments similar to how the Pokemon VGC Worlds operate? are they just operating their business as their usual selves before the Panda Drama? Or did Nintendo force their hand on a given change?
C. How close is Ultimate to being mostly figured out? Has it reached a point where a new game is needed? Or maybe it is now the closest relative to a Melee-like duration of an unsolved game?
