I need urgent help. I don't ever use facebook, sometimes I use it to log into some apps so I haven't logged into the account on the actual website for months. Today, I log in and got a pop-up telling me that Facebook has detected unusual activity. I go through this process where it ensures nothing was changed and thankfully to that extent, none of my information was changed.
However, when I logged into the account I noticed an absolute influx of notifiactions and messages (persumably bots or other compromised accounts). I also gained about 600+ friends when I was only following 4 people before.
Additionally, there were a bunch of posts on there that I had no idea where they came from. I have no idea what this is, what even happened, or where even all this came from. I'm willing at this point to just delete the account and start from scratch I'd just like to know if any of my information has been compromised beyond Facebook, or if there's any saving the account at all. I'd like to recover the account if that's possible- if there's a way to unfriend 600 people and delete all these posts. Most of the activites happened early march, stopped about a week after but when I posted that I was hacked and for people I DO know to disregard it I had bots like crazy.
