2024.05.20 08:14 anino_dasal Should I close my UB Classic Visa?

I've had this CC for 2 years now and I don't see the much of the benefits anymore. My credit limit has never been increased during this time (I've never requested for one naman, but my other CC's do kasi kaya nacompare ko lang). So I'm thinking of closing this one since may AF pa na need ko pa irequest ipawaive but they're hard to reach.
My current CCs are BDO Gold Visa and UB Rewards Platinum Visa (formerly Citi). Are there other benefits to the UB Classic Visa na wala sa other cards ko? Or is it a good idea to let this go?
Additionally, I am planning on activating either my BPI Gold Mastercard or RCBC Flex Gold if either one of them is better than the UB card. Thoughts on which of the two is better are also appreciated!

2024.05.20 07:51 texassub70 Please help!! Is my question considered fraud if I file bankruptcy for a gambling problem? My anxiety is pretty bad ATM! Sorry for the long post.

hello, I plan on filing BK Chapt 7 because I can't keep up with my credit card payments.
I have a gambling problem, I have banned myself from online gaming as well as paid for a year for Gamban. I am in an online G.A. because there isn't any G.A. in my area.
Bare with me while I try to explain the best I can.
I have 4 credit cards ( Discover, US BANK and 2 Chase cards) I maxed out the 2 Chase cards and the Discover card and then did a balance transfer to my US bank card because of zero interest for the 3 cards in March. I then maxed out the cards again because I am stupid!.
I paid off 1 CHASE card for $660 last month. I cut up that card. Actually all the cards are cut up except for the Discover because I am using that for groceries, gas etc. When I get my new debit card from my new bank I will cut the D card up. I switched banks from Chase to a new bank last week because the Chase bank is in a different city and my new bank is in my town.
My other 2 cards...:
The other chase has gambling debt on it which equals to about $2,500 with the last being in March. Usage in April is gas, food etc. That card is cut up.
Discover card has about $3000 from gambling in which the last one was the beginning of this month. the rest of the charges are gas, food etc. it is not cut up yet.
My US Bank card had a limit of $12,000. The 3 balance transfers equaled $7,500 all together. I then called the credit card company and had them bring the limit down to $9,500 because I knew I would max it out. And then called again and had them bring the limit down to $8,500...leaving me with $1,000 in which I maxed the card out on gambling, again...I am stupid. The last purchase was in April. Prior to this I always paid the whole balance off. That card is cut up.
I have been making the minimum payments because I have used up all my savings to try to play catch up...but then ran the cards up. I have no savings left. I only bring home about $1,400 a month. It's hard to pay rent, get groceries, gas since everything is going up in price.
I have tried in the past few months to make payments. Even try to pay $5 a month more if I can.
The gambling payments are $100 payments each time. And it's not over a span of weeks but days! Some are $1,500 in one day. I am so ashamed of myself.
My question is since I did the balance transfers to my US Bank card and then ran the card up....is that credit card fraud???? It has been 1 month since it's last been used for gambling. That is what is stressing me out and making my anxiety through the roof.
When would be a good time to talk to a lawyer?
I would quit making payments but I am sooo scared of credit card fraud because it was NOT my intention for run these up. I hate this addiction. But I am so tired of the anxiety, the stress and not sleeping.
Any help will be appreciated!

Apparently my info is somewhere on the dark web and I've been getting alot of emails declining me for loans I never applied for, listing an old address of mine, but they never ping my credit until today. All my credit tracking apps sent through a notice that I had a new heavy inquiry from someone applying for an Indigo card, and then I have an email from 6 hours ago asking for more information to be able to open a new card.. none of this is being done by me and I'm not really sure how to get this ping off. My first thought was to dispute it, but I'm not even seeing that option on Credit Karma. I've been working so hard to fix my credit and this lowered it by 4 points. Not much but every point seems like a struggle right now

2024.05.20 05:46 bluebi99 Need advice on credit card debt

I'm in a very bad financial spot and not sure what to do next. I make 55K and I've definitely been living beyond my means. I used to have excellent credit but my credit card debt has been piling up since I moved to a new city a couple years ago. It is at about $9K right now. I have mostly avoided using my credit card the last year or so, but I had to use it a couple of times recently for basic necessities, and my credit score has plummeted to 594. My spouse and I rent a house, and I individually pay $1100/month. My spouse has similar debt but makes 95K. We are looking to downsize, but my credit is so low that I fear most apartments won't approve me. I want to eventually get a balance transfer card, but I don't know when I will be able to qualify given my low credit score. I've been applying to jobs as much as I can and trying to take side jobs like babysitting here and there, but I'm feeling so trapped right now and not sure what to do next.

2024.05.20 05:41 Responsible_Turn_160 UB Rewards Visa Credit Card

UB Rewards Visa Credit Card
Hi! I received an offer from UB as I am qualified for a UB Rewards Visa Credit Card. It's NAFFL w/ free 10k points if I spend any amount upon receipt of the card.
I already have a Citi Rewards card. My physical CC is still Citi but my account has already been migrated to the UB app. In the app it says Rewards Platinum Visa Card.
Will it make sense to apply for this and cancel my Citi CC?
TIA

2024.05.20 05:13 hungry_manunulat Susugod na sa UnionBank rawr 👺

Hello! May naka-experience na po ba dito na pumunta na sa branch ng union bank to close a credit card dahil napakalala ng customer service nila?
Around 1500 na ata nasayang na load/viber plan ko sa kanila, wala pa rin sumasagot. I tried flooding them emails din, puro noreply with case number emails lang sila. I tried CCing BSP din, wala rin talab.
I'm trying to close my formerly Citi Rewards Visa Credit Card bago mag annual fee sa June.
Thank you!

2024.05.20 05:12 soccerpro827 Denied by Citi; Credit Card To Get After Unsecured Discover?

Hi! Looking for a new card. Recently applied for the Citi Custom Cash Mastercard, but was denied because "The consumer reporting agency serving your area has reported only a limited credit history for you." Called Citi, rep said it's probably because I only have 1 card. What other card(s) would you all suggest I apply for? Template below:

2024.05.20 04:59 photon11 Best Card for Travel Benefits? citi primier vs venture x vs Chase Sapphire

So I am looking for a new credit card to maximize my traveling and need help. My options are what's in the title: Chase sapphire reserve/preferred with the freedom unlimited or either the venture x or capital one primier city card. Does anyone have any experience with any of these cards and can speak about their practical benefits?
For reference, majority of my expenses is rent, grocery, gas, sometimes eating out. It seems like citi primier gets the most points so is that the best?

2024.05.20 04:24 DueReporter6824 I'm currently a Rising Sophomore/Junior in a weird predicament, looking for advice moving forward.

At the very beginning of my Freshman year, my mother and grandpa passed away. [sorry for the dramatic cold open!] I was struggling a lot that first semester, and while I was getting through the classes, I wasn't doing great at them. Not as great as I know I could.
By second semester, I ended up transferring into online classes, where I basically gave up, and dropped all of them. After that, I applied to a tiny private College-Prep liberal arts school and that's where I'm at now. It's nice, they lean heavily into having everyone do focused college-like Humanities classes and Arts. The summer before I started attending, my father also passed away. I hadn't been living with him, my parents were divorced and he wasn't in a position to take me in, but that still sucked.
Now obviously, having an entire semester of Fs on my transcript is problematic. Another issue is the fact that the school I currently go to doesn't actually do GPAs. All our grades are basically written as narrative evaluations, and since very few schools do that, it's hard to find resources outside of the web of my own school. If a College were to request a GPA, our school would be able to provide one, but that's basically a matter of the Principal reading through my evaluations, and determining roughly what they would be roughly equivalent to if I was at the nearby public school.
All of my evaluations have been absolutely solid, I'm fairly certain I would have straight As. In addition, while attending I did take a virtual French II class over the summer, Japanese 101 and Biology 101 at nearby Colleges; I have an A in all of them. I'm sure if I requested a GPA for my regular classes, I would have mostly As. I have taken Calculus I [AB], but I'm awaiting my AP score. Calculus AB/BC are the only AP classes my school offers. For what it's worth, I got a 1350 on my PSAT 11.
My goal is to go into Math. I plan to take Calculus II/BC and Engineering next year, and also Linear Algebra in the fall off-campus [which I will likely be eligible for, just need my AP score]. When it comes to colleges, I really don't know what is reasonable for me to even shoot for.
I'm in a weird nebulous position where I was supposed to graduate next year, but failed so I'm behind a year, but also have enough credits to graduate next year anyways as a Junior, if I wanted to. I've thought about it, but I don't know if that's what I should do.
I have had conversations with my principal, and I think they recommend I take the extra year simply to offset the Fs from those online classes from before I transferred. My principal jokes that now is pretty much the only time in my life where it will be beneficial to be an orphan, and I think that's probably kinda true. I had to pick myself up and take initiative for a lot of the things I'm doing, and I have constantly excelled since moving schools. I have been living semi-independently, juggling between houses [I haven't lived with my legal guardians in ~2 years, but they're still present]
When my principal was in High School, he attended Telluride for the summer, and now has the opportunity to 'nominate' students for it, and he plans to do so for me in the Fall. I'm thinking of doing that, it sounds great.
This Spring I applied for PROMYS, and although I think I did well on the application, I unfortunately, got rejected. Of course, I knew that was a reach program so I didn't expect much, but now my summer's free! There's always next time.
I also thought about simply applying to a few absurd reach schools in my Junior year (Hail Mary), since technically I could be eligible, and if I end up getting rejected from them, then I would still be fine. I could just go ahead and do my Senior year, after having gained experience with the College admissions process.
I'm also somewhat aware of QuestBridge, and that could be a good option if I went that route this Fall; if I'm eligible for the match, apply for what looks good, and if I match, then free money! If not, then try again next year with a stronger background. From my understanding, finalists for that tend to be high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds. I'm certain I fall under that umbrella. Only one of my parents graduated High School and went to College, however, given that my mom's culinary degree probably hasn't impacted my life much in about 3 years, I've been told there may be room to argue I'm a "first gen" -- No idea if that's true.
All of this is to say, I don't really know what I should do. I hope I described my situation well enough for you to get a gist of my predicament, if anyone has advice, I would appreciate it. Although I feel like I'm in a very unique situation, I'm sure there's someone else who's been in a similarly-shaped boat on here.
In the meantime, I need some rest. I have to move out soon, I'll be taking French again online this summer, and I'll be starting two independent studies in Game Design and Novel Writing; I would like to get a job with my city's public library soon, because I've been an intern for my school's library this year and that seems like a nice transition. Probably try and take the SAT in August... also need to learn how to drive.... well, I have a busy summer.

2024.05.20 04:04 Unionleecher7334 Can someone slap me back to reality ?

The city bank strata card seems like such a power house. Allow me to explain
3x on gas and ev stations 3x on dining 3x on groceries 10x on booking thru their portal probably more expensive tbh $95 annual fee
Pretty decent transfer partners too (to me) 1:2 ratio on their “affordable” choice line of hotels which is pretty dope. As well as a 100$ hotel credit that can be used on stays 500$ or more, weird but ok. What are we thinkin 🤨
Compared to it’s competitor the sapphire preferred it seems like a no brainer although some might say that the chase points are better redeemed cause if the 25% bonus and the Hyatt partner but we all know the chase multipliers are doodoo 3x on dining, 2x on travel, 5x on travel through their portal. And to tie it together there a 50$ hotel credit that is applied on any amount no minimum spend like the strata. In terms of the other credits those aren’t applicable to me so I don’t bother lol. Which seem better ? CSP has a tiny leg up cause it’s metal but 95$ AF cards are so hot right now.

2024.05.20 03:55 LaxMaster37 I spammed 3 applications last night, how long should I wait?

Background: 23, I make shit money but my parents make good money. I am a “student,” and have been supporting myself for the last year.
I have no credit history according to credit checking tools (despite being an AU on my mom’s BOFA CC for like a decade. Don’t know what’s up with that. That's not the issue at hand tho.)
Well I’m looking to take out my own CC to build credit. And I’m pretty limited having no credit history. I only qualified for the secured Discover Card on the pre-approval even after modifying the info I entered. I’m looking to avoid secured cards.
After including my parents income on C1 pre-approval tool I was able to finally get the approval tool to qualify me for the Student SavorOne and Student QuickSilver (Today). I would love to be accepted for the SavorOne. I like how the card actually has great bonuses for a beginner card, and I can keep it long term to grow my credit age since it has 0 AF.

My Mistakes: My dumb ass learned yesterday what a hard pull was and what applying for a CC entails. I applied and promptly got denied three times last night. I effectively thought applying without accepting an offer was like doing the pre-approval tools.
The dumbest part was getting denied by Citi Custom Cash twice five minutes apart, because I thought including my parent’s income in my gross income would change the result. The third card I got rejected from 30 minutes later was the Discover Cash Back.

My Predicament: So obviously spamming hard pulls in such a short period of time was dumb as hell (and not attempting a pre-approval first). But I don’t want my mistakes to compromise my acceptance for the Student SavorOne.
My Question: How long would you wait before applying to the Student SavorOne? According to my understanding, the pre-approval SP today should have taken into consideration the 3 HP’s I did last night in its eligibility decision. But a pre-approval decision doesn’t guarantee that I’ll actually get accepted, especially because it took some adjusting of the pre-approval info to even qualify for the SavorOne, as well as some suspect behavior occurring so recently with zero other credit history.
Obviously waiting 6 months would be safe as hell to space out the previous HPs from my new application. But I would like to finally get started with a credit card already. But I also don’t want to put yet another failed HP on my record.

2024.05.20 03:19 MarioDizaz1 City Bank Application issues

During the last hour of work today, I had two customers who applied for the credit card. After their signatures it took a while for it to load and then the message prompt “check customer service to check if the apps were processed” and when we checked it said processing. Had to call citi bank and they both got approved. Didn’t know if anyone else had this issue or not today
