2024.05.19 22:45 thejackrabbitstudio Traditional Artist - learning cartoon/animation style digital (need tips)

I need some serious tips on how to get moving in the right direction! I am a painter and a fine-artist / illustrator. I work in traditional mediums (watercolor mostly)
I have an upcoming project (sorta a personal project) where I need to learn to draw animation/cartoon style charcters and settings. I will need to draw them quickly and effeciently (but I have several months to learn!)
I am having trouble knowing where to start as an advanced level artist, beginneintermediate level digital artist, with ZERO drawing stylized humans or even humans at all.
Character creation, cell shading, even digital soft shading really doesnt come naturally to me. Im having trouble determining when to simplify, or when I can add detail. Also how to make characters look different while still seeming to belong to the same world.
Are there any youtube videos or courses you could point me towards? OR anyone who might be able to help with tips?
I think partially I have a block with wanting everything to be perfect even though Im esentially learning something completely new (so im not happy with anything I can draw)
I even tried tracing (and then deleting of course) some of my favorite animated artists work just to get a feel for different brushes, streamline settings, etc. on procreate and my tracings dont even look ok! So I must be missing some major basics. thanks for reading!

2024.05.19 22:43 thayeryan I learned how to speak to shadows.

I was brought up in a church. It was always boring and strange and I never really felt welcome, despite everyone's persistent attempts to tell me how happy they were to see me every week. Nevertheless, the stories I was taught there were all I had. And even if I didn’t fully understand them, to me, there was a god and good and evil, and I was just a mortal caught in the middle of it all.
I was around 12 or 13 years old at the time. I remember it being spring time outside, beautiful but tainted by a plague of allergies that had come over me. I was stuck in a habit back then of reading books late into the night. My mom was mostly supportive of it though and bought me a book light to use in the dark, with the caveat that I put the book down by 10PM at the latest.
On the first night that it happened, I remember being very sucked into the story I was reading. I had started a new book and I distinctly remember thinking that the story wasn’t for someone my age, and if my mother found out what I was reading, she might not let me keep it. The feeling that I was doing something wrong had me on edge in a sort of fun and exciting way, and my heart was beginning to beat somewhat quickly as I continued.
And then I heard it. A rustling sound like something had slid off of a hanger in my closet. I jumped in place, dropping my book down on the blanket, the clip-on book light casting a long and imposing shadow across the room. What I saw next was difficult to make out and is even harder to picture in my mind all these years later. I remember my clothes hung up in the closet, swaying in place, almost shivering or jittering from the movement coming from behind them. The book light was cut off along one edge of the closet opening, only showing the bottom of my hanging clothes and part way down onto the floor where some old shoeboxes and retired sports equipment was stored. But there was something odd and quite noticeable partially in view within the small glow of light that existed there. At the time it was puzzling to interpret as I had been expecting my angry mother to have somehow divined that I was reading something she didn’t approve of. But with time and reflection it became clear that the dark shape I saw amongst my belongings was an abnormally long and trembling leg.
“P-please!! P-put that down!”
It spoke with a frantic whisper, as if I was inadvertently pointing a loaded gun at it. I froze for a moment, staring at the indiscernible shape, watching my jacket and button down shirts shivering on their hangers when it suddenly occurred to me. I frantically grabbed the book light and pulled it to my chest. I could have quickly turned and shown it directly into the closet, but for some reason, I didn’t.
The nights that followed were difficult. I kept looking over my shoulder, staring in the direction of my closet, wondering if something would happen instead of falling asleep or reading. My mother even took notice of the sudden change, asking me, “Is something wrong, sweetie?” before tucking me in one night.
I shrugged. “I don’t know. I think I’m just bored with my book,” I lied.
“You can’t give up on it now, dear! Even if it’s not for you, at least try and finish it so you know for sure.”
That night I pulled the book out again and continued from where I left off. I felt bad, as if I was taking advantage of my mom’s ignorance as she advocated for me to read a book that she must not have known the full story behind. But still, I wasn’t really bored of it. In fact, once I had the book out and in my hands again, I felt that same itch I had before. An excitement to see what came next. To know what else lies between the pages of the coming chapters. And as I read further, my heart began to race again. I felt a tingle going up my spine now, and for some reason, I began to sweat.
“Can you hear us?”
The voice was closer this time, somewhere off to my side now, away from the closet and more toward the center of my room. I remained still, careful not to bounce the book light around in fear that I would drive the being away.
“Yes.” I told it. The moment after I spoke back to it for the first time, the strangeness of the situation became somewhat mildly apparent to me, although it still did not deter me or drive me toward fear.
“Good.”
I had church that next morning. What I didn’t realize that day, as we piled into the car at the crack of dawn, was that it would be the last time I would ever go to church for the rest of my life. I remember this day very well, as you’ll soon be able to tell.
“Did you sleep okay?” Mother asked me, peering into the backseat through the rear view mirror.
“Okay, yea.”
“How about your book? Did you read any?”
“Yeah.”
“Good! I’m glad.” She said, smiling with her eyes as they returned to the road ahead.
We pulled up to the church and parked in the small parking lot out front. It was altogether a poorly cared for area with faded yellow lines on the ground separating the parking spaces, and chunks of concrete broken apart as if the urban environment had somehow fallen victim to a recent bombing. Our church service was held in an office park of all places, down a flight of stairs and through a long hallway that always smelt like damp carpet. The church pastor had acquired the space for a good deal, and always talked about the location as if it were merely the humble beginning compared to where they would someday be.
We took our seats in the cramped room as usual and an eerie silence was broken by the sound of an old, muffled electronic organ that tried and failed to lift the energy of the room before our pastor walked out center stage.
“Welcome and good morning to everyone on this fine, somewhat humid day. I hope you all are doing well and the drive in wasn’t too problematic, what with all the traffic cones blooming for the summer.” He gave a sort of wincing smile as a few members of the crowd let out a light chuckle. “I’m sure we’re all eager to get on with service today as this is the day we’ve all been waiting for for almost 18 years now - wow! But I just wanted to take a brief moment before we begin to acknowledge the significant achievement of everyone here, and the endless effort you all have gone through in order to make sure that today happened at all.” The room filled with gentle clapping, everyone turning toward one another as they nodded in approval.
“Very good. Now, without any further delay. Let us begin.”
Several quick yet world changing events occurred in the minutes after his speech. Minutes that have dominated my life and memory ever since they happened. My mother stood up and took me by the hand, looking down at me with a large smile across her face.
“Come on! It’s time!”
“What for?” I hesitated, only slowly scooching off of my seat.
“It’s ok, you’re just going to read something out loud for everyone. Think of it like a speech in class, except everyone here is excited just to hear you speak. You won’t do anything wrong, I promise.” I nodded nervously and followed her up to the front of the congregation where she positioned me in front of a mic stand, adjusted down to my height, before leaving to stand next to the pastor. And then I saw her do something quite strange. She took the pastor's hand in her own and kissed him on the lips. The room was deadly silent as the lights overhead were shut off, suddenly leaving us all in a thick darkness. I squinted my eyes as I tried to look back towards my mother, hoping to god I could catch even the slightest hint of her familiar face.
The shadows were pierced by something on the far side of the room. A glow of red light parting the darkness like a curtain, illuminating the pages of an old looking but familiar book that was slowly making its way down the aisle and toward me. Somebody placed the book in my hands and opened it to the first page.
And then a familiar voice spoke.
“Read.”
“But… I’ve already read the beginning before.” I replied quietly.
“But they haven’t.” The voice explained with a seductive hiss. I held the book closer and looked it over. It was my book. It was my light.
As I began reading the words from the pages, I could hear people in the crowd whispering. Some of them were praying, some were crying, one woman in particular I could hear whispering excitedly to her partner: “He can read it! Can you believe that?”
And there were other noises as well. Chanting. Whaling. A sound that I can only explain as a guttural choking noise. I tried to stay focused. To read loudly and not stutter. But as I read further, another noise began to distract me. A drumming or clanging of metal, followed by a rhythmic grinding, over and over and over. Eventually the noise was so loud it was hard to hear my own voice, but I could tell that the audience was loving it. In fact, they were beginning to yell out their approval: “Amazing,” “We’ve finally found him,” “Praise be!”
The tingling had returned up my spine again and my skin felt electric, like I was being filled with some sort of strange energy. It was as if I was moving with momentum as the words of the book were flowing from my mouth like I had somehow memorized every page - even the parts I hadn’t read before. It was so easy I didn’t even need to look at the pages at a certain point, but by that time, something had started to come over me. A hesitance or doubt. I felt wrong and I desperately wanted to leave.
I looked at my book light, examining the streaks of red marker across the glowing plastic, and without a second thought, I scratched it off with my thumb nail. The rhythmic sounds of metal ceased and a blood curdling scream sounded off across the room, followed by several animal-like growls from the now seething congregation. I had stopped reading now and dropped the book to the ground, clutching the light firmly in my trembling hands as the light showed all around me.
“Mom?” I called out with no reply. There wasn’t a sound in the room now apart from the heavy breathing of the congregation, as if they had all just finished running in a triathlon. I started inching my way forward, stepping down the aisle way between all the seats, swinging my head over each shoulder as the sound of bare footsteps sounded off the linoleum floor, mere inches around my glowing circle of protection. I had considered aiming my light around the room, but couldn’t stomach to see what I might reveal. “Mom?” I called again. A sea of hisses erupted from everyone in the room, and without any further investigation, I ran. I pushed open the office door, turned down the long hallway and made short work of the stairs leading up and out of the building. The light outside was blinding, and everything after that was a blur.
The people who found me, wandering alone around a park, brought me to the police who quickly started a search for missing children. Shortly after that, an investigator was brought in who had already been tipped off that I may not have been the child of the woman who raised me.
Years later, I have now learned who my true biological parents are. The woman who I had once called mother had kidnapped me from the hospital on the day I was born, and several lengthy trials later, she has been placed in prison.
I don’t know what the book really was, and for some reason I have no recollection of its contents either. While these events do haunt my memory, it also helps me to share the bizarre and horrifying tale with others. As time has gone on the days have gotten easier to get through, while the nights are still haunted by the feeling of something lingering in the shadows, watching me with anger but unable to act as I always keep my book-light nearby and ready.

2024.05.19 22:42 LeoDiCatmeow Almost done with my first play-through but I just realized what they meant by "a cozy game about dying"

I'm sorry if this all incredibly obvious but I just realized that this lovely game about dealing with loss is as a whole about dealing with your own death.
Huge spoilers for the whole game in this post
"A cozy game about dying" more specifically means "a cozy game about Stella dying." The entire game is not actually guiding people who are dying in that moment to the afterlife, all the spirits in the game we meet are already dead. As I was playing along I was like "I love this game but there's so many things that are inconsistent and the overall world doesn't make a ton of sense." But it DOES. Literally everything makes sense including the world itself.
The only people who are alive are Stella and Lily. I don't think Daffodil is alive sadly. Playing through the game is us going through Stella's mind's journey "on the river styx" to the afterlife on her deathbed, revisiting the times she guided other people in her life to their "everdoor" as well.
I'm just blown away by how amazing this game is. The individual spirit trips provide gameplay about coping with losing other people. But the overall game is about coping with your own mortality and the overall game is about how Stella deals with dying herself.

2024.05.19 22:42 DutyTop8086 How Much Money Do I Need to Start an FBA Business on Amazon?

1. Amazon Store Rent
First, let's talk about the monthly rent for an Amazon store. Registering an Amazon store is free, but using a company registration instead of a personal one is recommended. This approach is safer and has a higher approval rate. After registering, you can choose between an Individual account and a Professional account.
Individual Account: This account has no monthly fee, but you'll pay Amazon $0.99 for each item you sell. It’s suitable for sellers who are just starting out and have lower sales volumes.
Professional Account: This account costs $39.99 per month, but you won’t pay a fee per sale. This option is more cost-effective if you sell more than 40 items per month.
Recommendation: If you’re just starting and your sales are low, opt for the Individual account. As your sales increase and you consistently sell more than 40 items per month, switch to the Professional account to save on per-item fees.
  1. Product Selection Tools
Choosing the right products to sell is crucial for the success of your e-commerce business. Fortunately, there are several tools available to assist with this process, each offering unique features to help you make informed decisions.

3. Initial Stock Costs
Purchasing your first batch of products involves a significant initial investment, and the amount required can vary widely depending on the type of products you choose to sell. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what to consider when estimating your initial stock costs:
Factors Influencing Initial Stock Costs
Product Type and Price: The nature of the products you choose to sell will greatly influence your initial costs. Higher-priced items tend to have less competition but require a larger upfront investment. Conversely, cheaper products are more budget-friendly but often come with higher competition.
Quantity: The number of units you decide to purchase initially is another major factor. A common recommendation for new sellers is to start with 200-500 units. This range allows you to test the market demand without overcommitting financially.
Calculating Initial Costs
To estimate your initial stock costs, you need to multiply the quantity of units by the purchase price per unit. Here’s a simplified formula:
Initial Stock Cost=Quantity×Purchase Price per UnitInitial Stock Cost=Quantity×Purchase Price per Unit
For instance, if you decide to buy 300 units of a product that costs $5 per unit, your initial stock cost would be:
300 units×$5/unit=$1,500300 units×$5/unit=$1,500
Typical Budget Ranges for New Sellers
Low Budget: If you’re starting with a tighter budget, you might opt for products with a lower purchase price. For example, if you choose items costing around $2 per unit and purchase 200 units, your initial cost would be $400.
Moderate Budget: A more common range for new sellers is between $1,000 and $3,000. This allows for a balance between purchasing a reasonable quantity of units and managing the risk of unsold inventory. For example, buying 400 units at $5 per unit would total $2,000.
Higher Budget: With a larger budget, you can consider higher-priced items that might have less competition. For instance, purchasing 300 units at $10 per unit would result in an initial cost of $3,000.
Why Initial Stock Costs are Important
Understanding and planning for initial stock costs is critical because it ensures you are adequately prepared for the financial outlay required to launch your business. Here are a few reasons why this is essential:
Market Testing: Buying an appropriate number of units allows you to test market demand without over-investing. This way, you can gauge the product's popularity and adjust future orders accordingly.
Cash Flow Management: Proper planning helps manage your cash flow effectively. Ensuring you have enough funds to cover initial stock costs, along with other expenses like marketing and shipping, is crucial for maintaining business operations.
Risk Mitigation: Starting with a moderate quantity of units helps minimize the risk of unsold inventory, which can tie up capital and lead to losses. It’s better to start small, analyze performance, and scale up gradually.
Carefully estimating and planning for your initial stock costs is a vital step in setting up your e-commerce business. By understanding the factors that influence these costs and budgeting accordingly, you can make informed decisions that set the foundation for a successful venture. Whether you have a limited budget or can invest more significantly, strategic planning will help you manage risks and maximize your chances of success.
4. UPC Codes
UPC stands for Universal Product Code, a standardized barcode used by retailers, including Amazon, to track products. Obtaining UPC codes is a critical step in setting up your products for sale. Here’s a detailed explanation of why you need them, where to get them, and the associated costs.
What are UPC Codes?
Definition: UPC codes are unique identifiers assigned to products. Each code consists of a series of black bars and a corresponding 12-digit number that can be scanned by barcode readers.
Purpose: These codes help retailers manage inventory, streamline the checkout process, and track sales. For e-commerce platforms like Amazon, UPC codes ensure each product is uniquely identifiable, reducing errors and simplifying logistics.
Where to Buy UPC Codes
Official Source: GS1: The Global Standards 1 (GS1) organization is the official provider of UPC codes. Purchasing from GS1 ensures the authenticity and uniqueness of your codes, which is crucial for compliance with Amazon’s policies.
Why GS1?: While there are third-party sellers offering UPC codes at lower prices, these codes might not always be unique or compliant with GS1 standards. Using GS1 guarantees that your UPCs are globally recognized and legitimate, preventing potential issues with listing products on Amazon.
Cost of UPC Codes
Initial Purchase: GS1 sells UPC codes in packs. A pack of 10 UPCs costs $250 initially. This upfront cost covers the registration and issuance of the codes.
Annual Renewal Fee: In addition to the initial purchase cost, there is a $50 annual renewal fee. This fee ensures your codes remain active and your registration with GS1 stays current.
Breakdown of Costs
Initial Cost: For a pack of 10 UPC codes, the initial cost is $250.
Annual Renewal: The $50 annual renewal fee applies every year to maintain your codes.
Example Calculation:
If you purchase a pack of 10 UPCs, your total cost for the first year would be:
$250 (initial cost)+$50 (annual renewal fee)=$300$250 (initial cost)+$50 (annual renewal fee)=$300
In subsequent years, you will only pay the $50 renewal fee to keep your UPCs active.
Why UPC Codes are Important
Inventory Management: UPC codes play a crucial role in inventory management, allowing you to track stock levels accurately. This helps prevent stockouts and overstock situations.
Product Identification: Each UPC code is unique to a specific product, ensuring that Amazon and other retailers can correctly identify and catalog your items. This reduces the risk of listing errors and mix-ups.
Compliance and Credibility: Using GS1-issued UPC codes ensures compliance with Amazon’s listing requirements. This adds credibility to your listings and prevents potential issues that might arise from using unauthorized codes.
Efficiency and Automation: UPC codes facilitate the automation of various processes, including checkout, shipping, and inventory updates. This enhances operational efficiency and reduces manual workload.
Investing in UPC codes from GS1 is an essential step for any e-commerce business aiming to sell on platforms like Amazon. The initial cost of $250 for a pack of 10 UPCs, along with the $50 annual renewal fee, ensures that your products are uniquely identifiable and compliant with global standards. This investment not only helps in effective inventory management but also enhances the credibility and efficiency of your business operations.
5. Shipping and Distribution Costs
Shipping and distribution costs are critical components of your overall budget when selling on Amazon. These costs encompass various fees and charges that ensure your products reach Amazon’s warehouses and, ultimately, your customers. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what to consider and how these costs can impact your business.
Components of Shipping and Distribution Costs
Shipping to Amazon’s Warehouse: This involves the costs of transporting your products from your supplier to Amazon’s fulfillment centers. Factors influencing these costs include the size and weight of your products, the shipping method, and the distance between the supplier and the warehouse.
Packaging: Proper packaging is essential to protect your products during transit. This includes boxes, cushioning materials, and labeling.
Inspection Fees: To ensure quality and compliance with Amazon’s standards, you might need to pay for product inspections before they are shipped.
Import Duties and Taxes: If you are importing products from another country, customs duties and taxes will apply. These costs vary based on the product category and the country of origin.
Estimated Shipping Costs by Product Size
Small Items: For smaller products, shipping costs are generally lower. On average, you can expect to pay around $4 per unit for shipping.
Mid-sized Products: For larger or heavier items, shipping costs increase. These costs can range from $8 to $12 per unit, depending on the specific dimensions and weight of the products.
Amazon FBA Fees
Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Fees: Once your products are in Amazon’s warehouse, the company handles storage, packaging, and shipping to customers. Amazon charges FBA fees for these services, which are based on the size and weight of the product.
Small and Light Items: FBA fees for smaller items typically range from $2.92 to $6.13 per unit.
Larger Items: For bigger or heavier products, FBA fees can be higher, reflecting the additional handling and shipping costs.
Breakdown of Costs
Shipping Costs to Amazon’s Warehouse:
Small items: $4 per unit
Mid-sized items: $8-$12 per unit
Amazon FBA Fees:
Small items: $2.92-$6.13 per unit
Larger items: Higher fees depending on size and weight
Example Calculation
If you are shipping 300 small items to Amazon’s warehouse, with each unit costing $4 to ship and an average FBA fee of $4.50, your total costs would be:
Shipping to Warehouse: 300 units×$4/unit=$1,200300 units×$4/unit=$1,200
FBA Fees: 300 units×$4.50/unit=$1,350300 units×$4.50/unit=$1,350
Total Shipping and Distribution Costs:
$1,200 (shipping)+$1,350 (FBA fees)=$2,550$1,200 (shipping)+$1,350 (FBA fees)=$2,550
Why Shipping and Distribution Costs are Important
Budget Planning: Understanding and accurately estimating these costs is crucial for budgeting and financial planning. Unexpected expenses can significantly impact your profitability.
Pricing Strategy: These costs need to be factored into your pricing strategy to ensure you maintain healthy profit margins. Underestimating shipping and distribution costs can erode your margins and affect your competitiveness.
Customer Satisfaction: Efficient shipping and distribution are key to timely delivery and customer satisfaction. Using Amazon FBA ensures reliable and fast shipping, which can enhance your seller ratings and lead to repeat business.
Operational Efficiency: Managing these costs effectively can streamline your operations and improve cash flow. By optimizing packaging, negotiating better shipping rates, and accurately forecasting demand, you can reduce expenses and improve efficiency.
Shipping and distribution costs are a significant part of your overall expenses when selling on Amazon. By carefully estimating these costs, including packaging, inspection fees, import duties, and Amazon FBA fees, you can better manage your budget and pricing strategy. Understanding these costs helps ensure smooth operations, enhances customer satisfaction, and supports your business's profitability and growth.
6. Inventory Storage Costs
Inventory storage costs are a critical consideration when using Amazon’s Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service. These fees are based on the size and quantity of your inventory stored in Amazon’s warehouses and vary throughout the year. Here’s a detailed breakdown of these costs and their implications for your business.
Amazon’s Storage Fees
Amazon charges monthly storage fees that depend on the size category of your products (standard-size or oversized) and the time of year. The fees are higher during the holiday season (October to December) due to increased demand for warehouse space.
Standard-Size Storage Fees
January to September: $0.83 per cubic foot
October to December: $2.40 per cubic foot
Oversized Storage Fees
January to September: $0.53 per cubic foot
October to December: $1.20 per cubic foot
Calculating Storage Costs
To estimate your storage costs, you need to know the cubic footage of your inventory. Here’s how you can calculate it:
Cubic Footage=Length×Width×HeightCubic Footage=Length×Width×Height
Once you have the cubic footage, multiply it by the applicable storage fee rate.
Example Calculation for Standard-Size Products
Let’s say you have 500 units of a product, each measuring 1 cubic foot. Your storage costs would be:
January to September: 500 cubic feet×$0.83/cubic foot=$415500 cubic feet×$0.83/cubic foot=$415
October to December: 500 cubic feet×$2.40/cubic foot=$1,200500 cubic feet×$2.40/cubic foot=$1,200
Example Calculation for Oversized Products
If you have 200 units of an oversized product, each measuring 3 cubic feet, your storage costs would be:
January to September: 600 cubic feet×$0.53/cubic foot=$318600 cubic feet×$0.53/cubic foot=$318
October to December: 600 cubic feet×$1.20/cubic foot=$720600 cubic feet×$1.20/cubic foot=$720
Why Inventory Storage Costs Matter
Budget Management: Accurately estimating storage costs is crucial for budgeting and financial planning. These costs can add up, especially during peak seasons, impacting your overall profitability.
Inventory Turnover: High storage costs can incentivize better inventory management practices, such as maintaining optimal stock levels and ensuring a higher inventory turnover rate. This helps in reducing long-term storage fees and minimizing the risk of overstocking.
Seasonal Planning: Knowing that storage fees increase during the holiday season can help you plan your inventory levels more effectively. You might choose to stock up on faster-moving items or reduce slower-moving inventory before the fees increase.
Cost Control: By understanding these fees, you can implement strategies to minimize them, such as reducing the size of your packaging, negotiating better storage terms, or using other fulfillment centers if necessary.
Strategies to Manage Storage Costs
Optimize Inventory Levels: Maintain a balance between having enough stock to meet demand and avoiding excess inventory that incurs high storage costs.
Seasonal Adjustments: Plan your inventory levels based on seasonal fluctuations in storage fees, ensuring you minimize costs during peak periods.
Efficient Packaging: Use packaging that minimizes space without compromising product safety. Smaller packaging reduces the cubic footage and, consequently, storage fees.
FBA Inventory Management: Use Amazon’s inventory management tools to monitor and adjust your stock levels based on sales data and forecasts.
Inventory storage costs are an important aspect of selling on Amazon using FBA. These costs, varying by product size and season, can significantly impact your business’s profitability. By accurately estimating these fees and implementing strategies to manage and reduce them, you can optimize your inventory management and control expenses effectively. Understanding and planning for these costs will help ensure a smoother and more profitable operation.
  1. Platform Commission
When selling on Amazon, it’s essential to account for the platform commission, known as the referral fee. This fee is a percentage of each sale and varies by product category. Understanding these fees is crucial for pricing your products and calculating your profit margins.
Amazon’s Referral Fees
Amazon charges a referral fee on each sale made through its platform. The percentage varies depending on the product category. Here are some common examples:
Electronics: 8%
Beauty Products: 15%
Books: 15%
Clothing and Accessories: 17%
Home and Kitchen: 15%
How Referral Fees Are Calculated
The referral fee is calculated as a percentage of the total sales price, which includes the item price and any shipping or gift wrap charges.
Referral Fee=Sales Price×Referral Fee PercentageReferral Fee=Sales Price×Referral Fee Percentage
Example Calculations
Electronics: If you sell a gadget for $100, the referral fee would be: $100×8%=$8$100×8%=$8
Beauty Products: If you sell a skincare product for $50, the referral fee would be: $50×15%=$7.50$50×15%=$7.50
Why Platform Commission is Important
Pricing Strategy: Knowing the referral fee helps you set your product prices appropriately to ensure you cover costs and achieve desired profit margins.
Profit Margin Calculation: Understanding the commission allows you to accurately calculate your net profit after deducting all fees.
Category Selection: The commission rate can influence your decision on which product categories to focus on. Lower commission rates in certain categories might lead to higher profitability.
Competitive Pricing: Factoring in the referral fee ensures your prices remain competitive while still being profitable.
Impact on Different Product Categories
High-Commission Categories: Categories like beauty products and clothing with higher referral fees require careful pricing to maintain profitability. High fees can significantly impact margins, especially for low-cost items.
Low-Commission Categories: Categories like electronics with lower referral fees can offer better profit margins, but these categories might also have higher competition.
Strategies to Manage Referral Fees
Optimize Pricing: Adjust your pricing to ensure it covers all costs, including the referral fee, while remaining attractive to customers.
Product Selection: Consider the referral fee when selecting products to sell. Products in categories with lower fees might be more profitable.
Bundle Products: Creating product bundles can help increase the average sales price, potentially offsetting the impact of the referral fee.
Platform commission is a significant cost factor when selling on Amazon. By understanding the referral fee structure and calculating these fees accurately, you can make informed decisions about pricing, product selection, and profitability. Properly managing and accounting for these fees ensures your business remains competitive and financially sustainable on the Amazon platform.
8. Advertising Costs
Advertising is a crucial component of your e-commerce strategy, driving visibility and sales for your products on Amazon. Effective advertising can help you reach potential customers quickly, but it requires a financial investment. Here’s a detailed breakdown of advertising costs, strategies, and their impact on your business.
Types of Advertising
Amazon Advertising: The primary form of advertising on Amazon is Pay-Per-Click (PPC) ads. These ads appear in search results and on product detail pages, allowing you to target specific keywords and audiences.
Sponsored Products: These ads promote individual product listings and appear in search results and product pages.
Sponsored Brands: These ads feature your brand logo, a custom headline, and multiple products.
Sponsored Display: These ads target audiences both on and off Amazon, helping to re-engage shoppers who have viewed your products.
Off-Amazon Advertising: To broaden your reach, you can also advertise on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. These platforms allow for targeted advertising based on demographics, interests, and behaviors.
Budgeting for Advertising
A typical budget for new sellers on Amazon ranges from $700 to $1,000. This budget should cover various advertising strategies, including PPC campaigns and social media ads.
Cost Breakdown
Amazon PPC Ads:
Sponsored Products: These are the most common and can cost anywhere from $0.10 to $2.00 per click, depending on the competitiveness of your keywords.
Sponsored Brands: These ads generally cost more per click due to their higher visibility and brand promotion capabilities.
Sponsored Display: Costs vary but can be effective for retargeting potential customers.
Social Media Advertising:
Facebook Ads: Costs typically range from $0.50 to $2.00 per click, depending on targeting options and competition.
Instagram Ads: Similar to Facebook, Instagram ad costs range from $0.50 to $2.00 per click, with the advantage of visual storytelling through images and videos.
Example Budget Allocation
Let’s allocate a $1,000 advertising budget across different platforms:
Amazon PPC Ads: $600
Sponsored Products: $400
Sponsored Brands: $150
Sponsored Display: $50
Social Media Ads: $400
Facebook Ads: $200
Instagram Ads: $200
Why Advertising is Important
Increased Visibility: Advertising ensures your products appear in front of potential buyers, increasing the likelihood of sales.
Competitive Edge: With many sellers on Amazon, advertising helps you stand out and reach customers who might otherwise not find your products.
Sales Velocity: Effective advertising can boost your sales velocity, improving your product rankings and increasing organic visibility over time.
Strategies for Effective Advertising
Keyword Research: Use tools like Amazon’s Keyword Planner or third-party tools to identify high-performing keywords for your PPC campaigns.
A/B Testing: Continuously test different ad creatives, headlines, and targeting options to find the most effective combinations.
Monitor and Optimize: Regularly review your ad performance data to optimize your campaigns. Adjust bids, pause underperforming keywords, and allocate more budget to high-performing ads.
Leverage Social Media: Use Facebook and Instagram to build brand awareness and drive traffic to your Amazon listings. Engaging content, such as videos and customer testimonials, can enhance ad performance.
Advertising is a vital part of your e-commerce strategy on Amazon and beyond. Allocating a budget of $700 to $1,000 for advertising can significantly enhance your product visibility and drive sales. By utilizing Amazon PPC ads and leveraging social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, you can reach a broader audience and increase your chances of success. Effective advertising requires continuous monitoring and optimization, but the investment can lead to substantial returns in terms of sales growth and brand recognition.
9. Returns and Refunds
Managing returns and refunds is an inevitable part of selling on Amazon. While they can impact your profitability, understanding the associated costs and implementing effective management strategies can help mitigate their effects. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the costs and considerations involved in handling returns and refunds.
Amazon Return Processing Fees
Amazon charges a return processing fee that varies depending on the product’s size and weight. This fee is applied when a customer returns a product, and it covers the cost of handling and processing the return.
Standard-Size Products: Fees for standard-size products are typically lower due to their smaller dimensions and weight.
Oversized Products: Fees for oversized products are higher because of the additional handling and storage space required.
Example Fee Structure
Standard-Size Product Return Fee: Approximately $2 to $5 per unit, depending on the specific dimensions and weight.
Oversized Product Return Fee: Approximately $5 to $20 per unit, depending on the specific dimensions and weight.
Additional Costs of Returns and Refunds
Restocking Fees: Amazon may charge a restocking fee for certain returned items. This fee is deducted from the refund amount and can range from 10% to 20% of the item’s price.
Return Shipping Costs: In some cases, you may be responsible for covering the cost of return shipping, especially if the return is due to a defect or error on your part.
Product Condition: Returned items that are not in resellable condition may need to be disposed of or liquidated, leading to additional losses.
Why Returns and Refunds Matter
Customer Satisfaction: Efficient handling of returns and refunds is crucial for maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and positive reviews. Poor management can lead to negative feedback and damage your seller reputation.
Cost Management: Understanding and anticipating the costs associated with returns can help you better manage your budget and pricing strategy, ensuring you account for these potential expenses.
Inventory Control: Effective return management helps maintain accurate inventory levels and reduces the risk of overstocking or stockouts.
Strategies to Manage Returns and Refunds
Clear Product Descriptions: Provide detailed and accurate product descriptions to reduce the likelihood of returns due to customer dissatisfaction or misunderstandings.
Quality Control: Implement rigorous quality control measures to minimize defects and errors that could lead to returns.
Customer Service: Offer excellent customer service to address issues promptly and potentially resolve problems without necessitating a return.
Return Policies: Establish clear and fair return policies that balance customer satisfaction with protecting your business from excessive costs.
Example Calculation
Let’s consider you sell 100 units of a product, with an average return rate of 5%. Here’s how you can calculate the potential costs:
Product Price: $50 per unit
Return Rate: 5% (5 units)
Return Processing Fee: $3 per unit
Restocking Fee: 15% of the product price ($7.50 per unit)
Return Shipping Cost: $5 per unit
Total Return and Refund Costs:
Return Processing Fee=5 units×$3=$15Return Processing Fee=5 units×$3=$15 Restocking Fee=5 units×$7.50=$37.50Restocking Fee=5 units×$7.50=$37.50 Return Shipping Cost=5 units×$5=$25Return Shipping Cost=5 units×$5=$25
Total Costs:
$15+$37.50+$25=$77.50$15+$37.50+$25=$77.50
Handling returns and refunds is a necessary aspect of selling on Amazon, and the associated costs can add up quickly. By understanding the fees and implementing strategies to manage returns effectively, you can minimize their impact on your profitability. Clear product descriptions, stringent quality control, excellent customer service, and well-defined return policies can all contribute to reducing return rates and associated costs. Efficient return management not only helps maintain customer satisfaction but also supports better cost control and inventory management.

2024.05.19 22:41 vernice1997 Recently in Call of Duty multiplayer, a girl sighed after her team lost, and someone started shouting, 'Go to the kitchen! Go to the kitchen! Look after your kids.' I purchased a microphone some time ago but rarely use it due to the insults it provokes.

. It's disheartening; I wish there were more women in voice chat so I wouldn't feel left out. It's sad that some men make it necessary for us to alter our voices just to play games.
I came across a reliable Female-Male voice changer!
The software in this video
could be beneficial, despite the title. You can access various male and female voices of different qualities.
Okada RVC is one of the better options currently available, and it's free.
I attempt to play games with voice chat and a camera on, but I often face being ignored or harassed for being female. To address this, I use face tracking software to animate the male avatar I created using Unreal Engine 5.
Sometimes, I encounter a group of people from the UK, but I'm still learning and improving my English, struggling to become a fluent English speaker. I utilize whisper to translate my Italian speech to English text.
I hope this information is helpful. Feel free to ask me any questions about software or hardware.

2024.05.19 22:41 Fun-Plane7612 Mackenzie Season 1 Episode 2: Smoochy Tag (My AU)

It was an early morning in the Border Collie Household. The sun was just beginning to peek through the curtains, casting a warm glow into the living room where Mackenzie, Minnie, and Little Mack were sitting, looking rather bored.
Mackenzie, the eldest of the three siblings, let out a sigh as he tossed his stuffed Bilby, Billy, up in the air and caught it repeatedly. "I'm so bored," he grumbled, glancing over at his younger siblings.
Minnie, her bright eyes filled with mischief, grinned mischievously. "I know! Let's go bug Mom and Dad until they play with us!"
Little Mack's face lit up at the suggestion. "Yeah! That sounds like fun!"
“Alright, alright. Let's go see what they're up to." Mackenzie said as he placed Billy next to Bandido and lead his siblings out of his room and to the kitchen.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Hunter and Queen were in the kitchen, having just finished the coffee they made a couple of minutes before.
“Honey?” Queen called.
“Yeah babe?” Hunter asked.
“What’s your stopwatch say?” Queen asked. Hunter looked at the stopwatch on the table next to them.
“12:22.” Hunter said. The two of them looked at each other for five seconds and then smirked.
“Three...two...one.” They both counted down. As they reached "one," Mackenzie, Minnie, and Little Mack burst into the kitchen, their faces filled with excitement.
"We're bored!" Minnie declared dramatically, throwing herself onto one of the kitchen chairs. “Can you play with us?”
“I don’t see why not.” Hunter answered as he turned to face the three. “What game do you wanna play?”
That was the thing. They didn’t exactly know what they wanted to play. Queen glanced at Hunter with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
"I have an idea," she said, her lips curling into a playful grin. "How about we play... Smoochy Tag?"
“Smoochy Tag? Now THAT is a game I haven’t played in a long time.” Hunter said with a laugh.
“What’s smoochy tag?” Little Mack asked.
“It’s like normal tag, but you have to smooch someone to tag them. When you tag them, they help you tag the others. It’s really fun!” Mackenzie said as his tail wagged a bit.
“I’ll be it first. Mackenzie, can you pick a number between one and ten?” Queen asked. Mackenzie paused for a moment.
“Seven!” Mackenzie said happily.
“Seven.” Queen repeated, then she smirked. “Six…Five…Four-”
Realizing she was counting down, Hunter and the kids took off running. Hunter opened the front door and ran out of the house with the laughing children. Queen reached one and then grabbed her coffee mug.
“I’ll just finish this first.” She stated while also putting Hunter’s mug in the sink.
After a couple of seconds of running, the four of them stopped for a moment and looked around.
“We need to hide.” Hunter said as he looked around.
“But where?” Mackenzie asked. That’s when they heard a door open, they all turned to see Bandit standing at the opening.
“Oh, morning Border Collies!” Bandit said with a wave.
“Morning Bluey’s Dad, can we hide in your house?” Mackenzie asked. Bandit raised an eyebrow almost immediately, leaving Hunter to clarify.
“We’re playing a game and Queen is it.” Hunter told him.
“Say no more, c’mon in.” Bandit said almost immediately, opening the door a little bit more for them. The four Border Collies ran inside and Bandit closed the door, looking through the peephole.
“Sorry to involve you in our game Bandit.” Hunter told him. Bandit turned to him and waved it away.
“No worries, we do that to our neighbor Pat all the time. Looks like karma finally caught up.” Bandit said, he then walked away from the door. “What game are you playing?”
“We call it smoochy tag.” Hunter said, that’s when the doorbell rang. Bandit walked over to open it and saw that no one was there.
“Huh, no one. Weird.” Bandit said before closing the door and walking back to Hunter. “What’s Smoochy tag?”
“Basically a cross between tag and playing zombies, but a kiss is how you tag the others.” Hunter answered. The doorbell rang again. Bandit opened the door and looked around this time, again, seeing no one.
“Kids playing ding dong ditch?” Hunter asked. Bandit closed the door and walked back over.
“Probably.” Bandit said as Chilli walked into the room.
“Who’s dinging the doorbell?” Chilli asked.
“Probably the kids.” Bandit said. That was before he saw Bluey and Bingo hiding Mackenzie and Little Mack somewhere in the living room, and then hearing the doorbell again. “Okay, definitely not the kids.”This time, Hunter walked over to the door to open it, and when he did, Queen grabbed his arm and pulled him outside.
“Gotcha! C’mere you!” Queen smirked as she attempted to pull him into a kiss. However, Bandit and Chilli grabbed Hunter to pull him into the house, joining the game.
“Not so fast!” Bandit said as he pulled Hunter into the house. Chilli also pulled, whilst chuckling.
“It’s not gonna be that easy.” Chilli told her. Queen continued trying to kiss Hunter, but Hunter was pulled away and Chilli got a cushion to poke Queen back out of the house. “Out, out with ya.”
With Queen back out of the house, Chilli closed the door. Chilli wiped her brow with a ‘phew’ and looked at Bandit.
“What was that all about?” Chilli asked.
“It’s a game called Smoochy Tag.” Bandit told her.
“Sounds fun, I’ll ask the kids if they wanna play.” Chilli said as she walked to the living room. Bandit looked at Hunter with wide eyes.
“Run upstairs, quick.” Bandit told him. Hunter nodded and ran upstairs with Bandit. Chilli walked to the living room where she saw Bingo hiding Little Mack behind the plant.
"Hey, Bingo," Chilli said with a warm smile. "Are you and your new friend playing Smoochy Tag too?"
Bingo looked up from her hiding spot with a wide grin. "Yeah, Mum! We're helping hide Little Mack from his mum."
“Well guess what, your dad and I are playing too. But I need to know the rules first.” Chilli said as he kneeled down to Little Mack’s height. “Can you tell me the rules?”
Little Mack got out from under the table and began to explain the rules of the game.
“It’s like normal tag, but you have to smooch someone to tag them. When you tag them, they help you tag the others. Mackenzie says it’s really fun.” Little Mack answers. Chilli tapped her chin.
“Smooch someone, like this?” Chilli asked, placing a kiss on Little Mack’s forehead. Little Mack giggled.
“Yes, exactly like that.” Little Mack said.
“Good. Looks like we’re helping your mom now.” Chilli said, revealing she made herself it when she played the game. Which also meant she that Little Mack was also it. Much to the four year old’s playful disappointment.
“Aw bugger.” Little Mack said. Then both of them turned to Bingo. She quickly turned around to run.
“Quick, let’s get her!” Chilli exclaimed as she and Little Mack ran after her. The moment they were out of the living room, Bluey and Mackenzie ran out from behind the couch and ran to the backyard where they got cut off by Queen.
“Going somewhere?” She teased before running after them. Bluey and Mackenzie playfully screamed before running back inside. Queen ran after them and was gaining on them pretty quickly. She would’ve caught up if it wasn’t for Minnie running in front of her, running away from Bingo who was also running away from Chilli and Little Mack. Switching targets, Queen grabbed Minnie and kissed her forehead.“No!” Minnie exclaimed while laughing. Bingo was gonna run past, but Queen grabbed her too and kissed her on the forehead as well. Now the only ones left were Mackenzie, Bluey, Hunter and Bandit. Bluey and Mackenzie were seen running up stairs. Upstairs, the hallway presented several doors, providing ample hiding spots. Bluey gestured excitedly to the linen closet. "Quick, hide in here!" she whispered urgently to Mackenzie.
Mackenzie nodded, running into the closet with Bluey. Bluey closed the door, while Hunter and Bandit veered into the Heeler bedroom just as they heard footsteps approaching. Inside the linen closet, Bluey and Mackenzie huddled together, barely able to contain their giggles. Bluey put a finger to her lips, motioning for Mackenzie to stay quiet as they listened to the footsteps draw closer. They held their breath as the footsteps walked towards them, stopped, and then walked away from them. Allowing them to let out a sigh of relief.
In the bedroom, Hunter and Bandit were both were under the bed, and practically arguing with each other silently.
“Find your own hiding spot!” Bandit whisper yelled to him.
“I don’t know this house! This is the best I can do!” Hunter replied. The two of them where still arguing when Queen and Chilli walked into the room, and from the footsteps abruptly stopping, they more than likely got found out.
“You think they heard us?” Bandit asked. Suddenly, Hunter’s ankles were grabbed and he was yanked out from under the bed. Bandit’s wrists were grabbed and he was pulled out as well. When they were out, they realized that the other’s wife had pulled them out. Bandit was pulled out by Queen and Hunter was pulled out by Chilli. The two ladies looked at each other, smirked, nodded and switched locations, kissing their husbands to tag them.
“And then there were two.” Hunter said as he stood up looking out in the hall.
“I heard whispering in the closet before walking in here.” Chilli said as she pointed to the linen closet. Queen and Hunter started to walk towards that door and counted backwards from three before opening the door and seeing….nothing.
“Huh?” Queen questioned. Inside Bluey’s room, Mackenzie and Bluey were sneaking back down the stairs and was making their way to the playroom. On the way there, Mackenzie accidentally bumped into one of the dressers and knocked over the lamp. Mackenzie was fast enough to catch the lamp before it could hit the ground.
“That was close.” Mackenzie said in relief.
“He’s downstairs!” Little Mack exclaimed, having heard him. Mackenzie put the lamp back and he and Bluey ran out to the backyard. Little Mack was the first to go outside to try and catch at least one of them. Minnie ran outside too and both were going straight for Mackenzie, who was not too keen with getting caught so he kept dodging and juking them like he was playing a game of rugby. Bluey on the other hand was running from Bingo and ran right into Bandit who picked her up and kissed her on the nose.
“Gotcha Bluey!” Bandit told her. He then looked at Mackenzie who juked Little Mack and made him run into Minnie. Mackenzie was gonna run back inside, but Hunter was guarding the door. “Let’s get em Bluey.”
Mackenzie turned around and Queen was blocking his path back.
“Where’re you gonna go now mate?” Hunter asked him. Mackenzie looked right and saw Bandit and Bluey walking towards him.
“Going left!” Mackenzie said as he ran left. He was gonna run down the left side of the house to go to the front yard, but the moment he ran around the corner, Chilli was right there. Mackenzie turned around to run again, but he was grabbed by Hunter, who jumped over the railing the moment he went around the corner. Mackenzie laughed as he was caught, squirming playfully in Hunter's grasp.
"Nice try, buddy." Hunter chuckled before planting a kiss on his son’s forehead, ending the game. “Man, you’re getting faster kid.”
"You're not too bad yourself, Dad." Mackenzie replied, his tail wagging happily. "That was so much fun!"
"You did great, champ," Hunter said, ruffling Mackenzie's hair. "But all that running around has made me hungry, lets go get brunch.”
Mackenzie's stomach growled in agreement, and he nodded eagerly. "Yeah, brunch sounds awesome!"
Chilli and Bandit looked at each other and then nodded before turning back over to the Border Collies.
“Would you like to stay for Brunch?” Chilli asked them.
"That sounds lovely," Queen replied with a smile, glancing at Hunter for confirmation.
Hunter nodded, returning the smile. "Yeah, we'd love to stay. Thanks for the invitation."
Chilli beamed. "Great! Let's head to the kitchen then. I'll whip up something delicious for all of us."
“Allow me to help.” Queen said as she and Chilli walked upstairs to the kitchen. Hunter and Bandit played with the kids to keep them occupied. s they all made their way to the kitchen, the Border Collies chatted happily, their laughter filling the air. Hunter and Bandit found themselves engaged in a playful game of catch with Mackenzie, Bluey, Minnie, and Little Mack, while Queen and Chilli worked together to prepare brunch.
In the kitchen, Queen and Chilli shared stories and laughter as they cooked, enjoying each other's company. Queen expertly cracked eggs into a bowl while Chilli chopped vegetables for an omelet. The aroma of sizzling bacon filled the air, making everyone's stomachs growl in anticipation.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Hunter and Bandit continued their game with the kids, tossing a ball back and forth and dodging around the furniture. Mackenzie's tail wagged furiously as he chased after the ball, his laughter echoing through the house.
As brunch neared completion, Queen and Chilli set the table with plates, utensils, and glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice. The tantalizing smell of food wafted through the house, drawing everyone to the kitchen.
With everything ready, they all gathered around the table, exchanging smiles and stories as they enjoyed the delicious brunch together. Plates were filled with fluffy omelets, crispy bacon, and buttery toast, and the conversation flowed effortlessly as they savored the meal.
Later on, Queen and Chilli were playing with the kids as Hunter and Bandit were on the balcony watching them as they played, drinking some soda as they watched.
“Made quite the first impression you know.” Bandit said to Hunter, who chuckled.
“Sweet as, Bandit. You know I was a bit skeptical about the move but now...” Hunter responded, watching as Bluey playfully managed to tackle Mackenzie to the ground. “..I think I made the right choice.”
“While I don’t doubt that mate, I’m sure we’ll see.” Bandit told him.
“Yeah…we’ll see.” Hunter replied. Soon, it was time for the Border Collies to head home and the Heelers waved goodbye to them as they walked off.
“You know, I think I like our new neighbors.” Chilli said to her family.
“Will they be back to play again?” Bingo asked her dad. Bandit smiled and watched the Border Collies walk off.
“We’ll see.”

2024.05.19 22:40 Acceptable_Tie_3927 Are we being scammed big time?

Maybe I'm not normal (well, I watch GBC eps 3 times: MTL, fan sub 1, fan sub 2, like Tomo watches Granma's Investigations thrice...) but someting has been buggging me for the last two eps. (*)
Are we being scammed big time? I mean GBC is about an indie band of angry rocker girls, who are fighting to be able to shove their pinky in the face of "the establishment". Meanwhile GBC anime is made by Studio Toei, a big name with Universal's music label backing it and preparations have been going on for over 3 years (e.g. auditions for real-life Togenäshi Togeäri band members). Plus a dozen commissioned songs were recorded for the project and it's advertised all over Tokyo subway lines and Shibuya giant LCD walls 1984 style.
That sounds like Establishment is pouring lots of money into an anarchist project. I see few possible explanations for such illogial phenomena:
  1. Everything according to plan. We are living in orwellian virtual reality, believing an establishment-funded franchise with a strong anti-establishment theme to be real. That would explain deliberate lack of anglo-sphere stream licensing, since japanese audiences are less likely to make a fuss about such contradiction vs the individualist, non-conformal west.
  2. GBC anime is the new Kemono Friends, where director was given a heavily manufactured but possibly already failing Intellectual Property package - which he and colleagues turned into a CGI goldmine despite all odds, by pouring their creative minds, soul and sweat into it.
(Should that be the case, we'll be able to say hours after last ep of s1 airs, from a tweet announcing summary firing of anime director for a severe indiscretion, like failing to greet production committe chairman's nephew upon graduation from kindergarten... As whole creative crew resigns in solidarity, tycoons will use the rookie seiyuu / band girls for PR shield against otaku backslash, resulting in an ever bigger scandal, which shelves GBC franchise for 4 years and then result in an s2 which real fans refuse to watch...)
  1. Do you have any other, hopefully less cynical theories?
(*) As to why the latest 2 eps made me question things, those gave slight hints that somebody in the creative process doesn't really care about project's integrity / suspension of disbelief. The ad hoc choice of band name from a T-shirt, possibly printed by an already copyrighted or trademarked entity, doesn't even sound realistic in-story. Not much thought was poured into that sub-plot? Animator also seemingly started to use hand-downs from Oshi no Ko mega-project (notice how Iseri Nina now wears "Baking Soda" style t-shirt and beret hat just like Arima Kana does.) The thought of Kadokawa behind GBC makes me shiver.

2024.05.19 22:39 AccomplishedPurple43 I'm just so tired. I'm tired of starting over. I have no F's left to give. Patronizing people, leave me alone. I have no inspiration.

So I just got my second divorce, from narcissist #2. I was raised by narcissists as well. Lucky me, I'm also on disability. I moved back to my hometown because I'm just tired at this point, and had no where else to go. My parents are elderly, and everyone assumes I moved back here to "take care of them", and go all "Awww, aren't you a good daughter". Hello, I'm in my 60's, used to be a licensed professional, and now I'm disabled and alone, all I am is "a good daughter"? WTF. How special.
Frankly, I'm so Gdarn tired of starting over. I have no energy for it this time. I'd love some inspiration. Everyone is asking me what do you like? What is your passion? Follow your dreams! UGH. I've been in therapy for years, that's what finally got me out of my train wreck of a marriage. Even my therapist is asking me, what do you love? Right now, I just want to be left alone. If I could, I'd be the weird woman in a cottage in the woods with wild hair and animals for friends. Unfortunately, I have to live in a condo because I can't mow my own lawn. I'm surrounded by busy bodies who frown because I turn down their group lunch invitations. Just shoot me before I go to one of those. I don't give a good Gdarn who's going on a cruise, or who's getting a new car. Or who's going to what church, I'm an atheist. I'm lucky I can go to the dentist or buy some meat, or put gas in my hand-me-down car. I can't even put up a bird feeder in these condos, it's against the rules. Watching birds would keep me and my cats occupied for hours before.
I know it's going to be a miracle, but does anyone have a similar experience and they can tell me it gets better? I'm staring down the next twenty years watching my parents getting more and more sick, but telling me I can't help them, and I'm going to age as well. I don't want to just get old, more sick, then die! Right now I've got my cats, a convertible when I can afford to gas it up, a running everyday car, and a green thumb. I'm growing plants on my deck, and have plenty of houseplants. I can also make quilts when I'm feeling good. And, I love to cook and read.
Do I just amuse myself with those things for the next 20 or so years? And keep the biddies at arm's length? Is that all there is?

2024.05.19 22:38 My_Special_Hell My Hero Academia's ending completely fails its villain cast in every conceivable way. (as well as its side cast, to a much lesser extent) [Manga spoilers up to chapter 423]

Midoriya, Todoroki, Bakugou and All Might get nice little endings and all (we've set to see the epilogue, but now that the antagonists are defeated, and Midoriya no longer has One For All, just like when the story began, it's pretty clear that the story is over other than epilogue stuff), but what about the rest of the cast?
lets look at the other classmates, AKA, the supporting characters of class 1-A. what resolution have they gotten..? well, none. "the story of how we all became the greatest heroes" yeah sure, whatever. I like the idea of it, but that didn't happen, not really. but well, they're all skilled, so now that the All For One and One For All are basically both dead Quirks, the future of the Quirk world does look bright for the ONE YEAR STUDENTS that will be inheriting this world from the Pros... or does it? does the world really look bright, or will those same institutions lead to the very same downfall?
lets look at the villains.
Spinner was, in the end, given the fate of some kind of extremely inappropriate, far-right interpretation of the BLM movement, and i the end, had the brain of a wild beast with little intelligence and a monstrous appearance, which comes off as the 'true nature of Heteromorphs', even though that's not true at all. nice representation of POC, Horikoshi. you portrayed black people as horrifying idiotic monsters. like what?? he had multiple Quirks put in him, so he's most certainly dead, if the brain damage didn't make that obvious enough. that sucks. and having Rock Lock, a BLACK MAN be the one watch his fate is just so insulting.
Toya is burned to pieces. I wanna say they'll find a way to heal him, but at the very least, his nerves are probably all burned. He'll be lucky if anything jaw and below can move anymore if he DOES live. and then what? instead of rehabilitating him, they'll throw him in Tartarus like every other problem child, refusing to give him any help. At most, Endeavour will be able to use his Number 1 Hero status to force the government to let him and his family visit him once a month at most. oh joy.
Himiko Toga, the little girl who functions as a neurodivergent + queer allegory in the story who, after some amazing development with Uravity.. has been set up so that she'll have to (likely already has) killed herself in order to save Uraraka with her blood.. great, just great. rest in peace the most well written female character in the entire story.
Shigaraki is dead. he never got to conquer his groomer. by the time he realized what he wanted, it was too late. he faded away into nothing. the institution that failed him is still there. the government is going to be praised for all that's happened by the Heroes' hands and the Heroes themselves couldn't even save one sad, scared little boy who was used for the wills of an older man till the very end. rest in peace the best written male character in the story.
so, none of these characters who deserve justice ever got justice. at most, they were redeemed right before they died. what the hell is Horikoshi trying to say about abuse victims? "they'll turn out evil in the end, and before they get the chance to turn over a new leaf, they'll kill hundreds then die, making their lives worthless in the first place. hopefully things will improve in the future for the oppressed, oh well."
OH, THANKS HORIKOSHI. truly the uplifting message that superheroes teach us: you can't save anyone, even when in the end, they're screaming, begging to be saved. so beautiful. I'm glad to know that all the best characters in your story couldn't be saved, couldn't be redeemed, couldn't be helped and then released into society again.. in the end, the black and white notion of 'heroes and villains' wins over, and the government and military who violate hundreds of conventions every day (this is explicitly stated in universe, too) are our friends! just great! :D
I fell in love with this series as a kid back in 2016 when the anime season 1 came out. this ending sucks. all I can hope is that the epilogue finds a way to bullshit the plot into Toya and/or Toga surviving and getting to live a happy, stable life in society again. but that probably isn't going to happen. (I'll be very happy if I get to eat my words).

2024.05.19 22:37 spencescardigans Plushy dreadful ouchie rabbit

I was looking through Plushy Dreadful plushies and came across the ouchie rabbit, and it actually nearly brought me to tears. I’ve never been this emotional over something like a stuffed animal before, so i thought i’d share it here.
They make plushies for a wide range of disorders, and each one is designed by people who have individually experienced them as well which in my opinion makes them even better.
Here’s the description for the ouchie rabbit: “Your life story reads like a WebMD entry - one that would send most people into a panic attack: Aches, pains, nausea, vomiting, on and on. But you've become so good at dealing with the pain that others have a difficult time believing how bad it really is. And it is bad... but it's not just the pain. It's the constant, exhausting worry - especially in those rare moments when the pain subsides - of what tomorrow has in store. Certainly more of the same. Maybe something new and worse?
A whole life is planned around illness, medication, and treatment. An endless cycle others can only glimpse in flashes while you remain fully immersed with little hope for escape. But despite all this, you bandage yourself up, grit your teeth and keep going.
And in the midst of it all, you take a certain solitary pride in your ability to endure. You might not look it - and you certainly don't feel it - but you're tough.
Even the toughest among us can use a companion who understands. Someone with a shared experience and a couple of aches and pains of their own.
Ouchie is here for you to cuddle and squeeze through the worst of the battle. He understands your aches and pains. And he has a heart full of love to give. He also doesn't mind if you use him as a support or pillow. “

2024.05.19 22:32 Vast-Holiday-6689 I (18M) broke up with my girlfriend (18F) because I found out she was emotionally cheating

I (18M) broke up with my girlfriend (18F) because I found out she was emotionally cheating
We were together for 3 months. We met online though so it’s always been long distance. I live in Ireland and she lives in Canada. I was so happy with her. We had a few minor arguments, but we learnt from them. She showed me her love, emphasised her loyalty, told me how much she cared about me, showed me to her friends. But this is making me question everything.
So I told her I had to study and would be finished at 7. I finished early and went to check Roblox (a game we sometimes play) to look at my avatar to see she was playing a 2 player game. I joined her and she was playing with some other guy, she also now had 15 friends instead of 14. When they saw me, the guy instantly left the game and unadded her, she was back to 14 friends. The screenshots will continue the rest of the story so read them and then come back to the text.
So basically this “vet” guy was someone we met on Roblox and wanted to be friends with us. We asked for our socials, we gave him our Snapchat and Instagram. We chatted for awhile and decided to tell Anna that we should unadd him on Snapchat, Instagram and Roblox now. She did just that. Now that she sent me her recent calls screenshot, it shows she still had him added and was playing Roblox with him. She plays it off as a huge misunderstanding as you have read from the story she described in the screenshots.
I can’t understand how she would do this. She was so caring, sensitive, lovely, showed me off to her friends, we always facetimed, and she does this after 3 months?? She wont admit it which makes me question “Maybe it was a misunderstanding?” because I really want to be with her, she really does make me feel so happy and I would’ve waited any amount of time for her. Now I’m questioning maybe she really was telling the truth? What do I do? I love her.

2024.05.19 22:31 achlysxcvi Hey! 28 year old sarcastic dog mum in need of new friends

28 f UK. How to sum up who I am in a few paragraphs.. I'm from Scotland so I'm fluent in sarcasm and dry humour ( it's all with good intentions ) other than that I'm just really chill ( 420 friendly so when I say chill I mean super chill haha ) , if I had to sum myself up in 3 words sassy, sarcy, sweet.
I work ( nail tech, recently became super boring and tedious to me ) and I'm in a tattoo apprentichip ( so stoked about this but it's been hard going ) I'm at that age where I've grew away from most of my friends just with a lack of time and well, life.. most of my friends have kids now and are getting married ( the idea of that low key terrifies me I'm not at that stage at all rn lol ) and it's hard meeting new people at this age with my busy schedule, tbh even when I have free time I'll be at home anyway no doubt, unless I'm out for good food or enjoying nature I'm most definetly at home gaming or something.
Which brings me to hobbies, Jack of all trades, master of none ( bonus points if you know the rest of the saying ) Since rebirth came back out it's pretty much all I've been doing in my down time but I also love to draw, anything art/creative related. I'm a mean cook and baker, recently learned how to make confectionary and chocolate which was cool. I like football, more bonus points if you love celtic and arsenal like I do. Music is life, cliché I know, shoot me. I play guitar but I listen to every genre. But mainly rap, old school hip hop is everything but there's no rap genre i don't really like. I love dave, he's a genius and really made me appreciate grime
I'm a proud dog mum and I think that's all the kids ill ever have haha, I'm gonna say its because I'm a free spirit but tbh it just sounds better than " I don't know what the f*** I'm doing with my life or what I want to do " lol, but yea my dog is my everything she's a 35kg wannabe lapdog princess
21+ only. I'm only 28 but honestly mentally I feel about 65 and I'm ready to retire haha, I've expireneced a lot in my life time already, the good and the bad
I'd love someone to play some cod with so I don't keep getting stuck in quads with people who play like it's solos :') I also play a lot of zombies. The Kino der totten days.. ah the nostalgia, but even some friendly fun banter to distract us from the exhaustion of life would be great
I didn't expect to type so much there sorry if its a bit of a read I just thought it be best to try and paint as clear a picture of me as I can be bothered typing to save the mindless small chat, I hate small chat lol
Well hopefully hear from you soon!

2024.05.19 22:31 the_snake_waifu My relationship with a long time friend of an ex is getting more complicated.

I (28f) am seeing a longtime friend (28m) of an ex (27m). I'm unsure if we're doing anything wrong or if it's all just too complicated.
I (28f) started talking to an old mutual friend (28m), let's call him Scott, of an ex (27m), let's call him Logan, from high school/early undergraduate. I broke up with Logan after about 2 and a half years of dating. The breakup was not mutual and he had asked me to marry him a few weeks prior. I ended up calling things off because he was becoming physically abusive and controlling and we were moving too fast for our ages. The relationship was toxic and I know I didn't help to alleviate any issues we had. We would get into spats often and I had horrible anger management back then. He isolated me from my friend groups and even his own at a point. His parents bought us a house in a larger city. I say "us" but it was always meant for him. It was one of those "we were already looking for a house for him but since you're dating, you can both live there and start a family," type of things. Long story short, it was a lot of developing and conflicting things happening in the span of our relationship. This was about 9 years ago. I started dating someone else about a year later but that didn't last for similar reasons, and he was a lot older. Logan had found out about that and harassed me for the entirety of that relationship, not knowing it was just as bad as my relationship with him. Cops wouldn't listen when I wanted to file a report and didn't even want to look at the evidence I had, text, phone record and emails. It was just all around bad.
Now, I'm finishing up my post baccalaureate and I started chatting and going on dates with Scott for about a month. Scott was friends with another guy I dated for an incredibly short time in high school before Logan and was part of Logan's friend circle. Scott and Logan have been passive friends for years and are still in some amount of contact. Scott had no idea about Logan's treatment of me as he went to college in another city before coming back to town and nobody told him. I doubt many of his friend group were even aware, which I don't blame them. So, its just that extra layer of removal from the situation. We talked about their closeness on our first date and he assured me that they were never that close. He even informed me of him hearing about something similar happening with someone Logan dated recently. So, he wasn't all that surprised, but he doesn't know the full extent either, just bits.
Where I'm concerned if there's a line being crossed is that Scott is pretty close to Logan's best friend (m28), let's call him Bobby. Bobby and Scott still talk and even hangout when they can, but Bobby is still very close to Logan and always had been, even when Logan is in a totally different city. Scott and I have been taking things slow, but we are both realizing this may end up as a long-term relationship but we're still feeling things out. Scott knows he's going to have to sit Bobby and other friends, from the old group that he still talks to, down and tell them that we're dating, when things become official. It's still too soon to do that, but we felt it best to discuss the possibility of him having to do that. I've told Scott that I don't want to come between him and his friends. He's made it clear that he doesn't care but I don't want him to be isolated from his friends like I had been.
I really like Scott. He seems to really like me too. Things are still new and fresh so they could sour but we both hope that doesn't happen. We are doing our best to communicate with each other and share our needs. We plan on continuing to see each other and even more during the summer, we're both educators, and know if that goes well, then the talk will have to happen. But, are we crossing a line that shouldn't be crossed?
I didn't get many answers when i posted on rrelationshipadvice. However, Scott is starting to have doubts about the relationship. We've been spending more time together and even started little traditions. Nothing big but just starting series together and trying new restaurants together. He told me that during the quiet and slow times when he can start acknowledging or seeing us as a couple that he can't help but think about his relationships with Bobby and his other friends. He mentioned that he has gone on vacations and trips with Bobby and Bobby's friends and often those vacations include Logan because they're so close. They're planning to take a trip next month and Logan will more than likely be joining them. I told him that I wouldn't go with him because of Logan and I wouldn't stop him from going. I also told him that he can't unknow what he's knows about Logan. He agreed that he doesn't know how he'll feel when he sees Logan again but he knows if Logan finds out that we're dating he will cut off all ties with him and Bobby will follow him, Logan. He said it may cause a kind of divide between the friend group over his relationship with me. I reiterated that I don't want to come between him and his friends. He asked if I would be hurt if he ended up ending our relationship and I was honest with him. I told him that I would be hurt but that shouldn't make him want to stay with me. He needs to decide that for himself. I told him he needs to think it over and really decide for himself where he wants to take this. It's only been 2 months so it wouldn't be a huge deal, in a time sense. I just really like him but now I'm starting to have doubts with how much of his life is reliant on these guys. It could just be because it's me but I don't know that for sure.
We met up this past week and had a talk. He was ready to end things but he seemed to not want to say it. When I asked why, he said it was indeed because of his relationship with Logan. He made it seem like it wasn't a super close relationship at first but now it's sounding like it was close enough for him to feel some amount of guilt. I told him I was more hurt that he was choosing to continue a friendship with someone who actively hurts women, as I'm not the only one Logan has hurt, but the other woman didn't seem as hurt, if that makes sense. I also told him I didn't blame him because they were friends longer than we were seeing each other and that I know everything is complicated. We kept talking and he started voicing more that he wants me in the picture and hopes I can win his friends over. He asked if I could ever make amends with Logan and I said "no." I explained why, which was a lot of what the reasons why we broke up in the first place, but I wasn't explicit with what exactly happened. I didn't want to share because a part of me felt like it was still not the place to do so. He asked me if I could wait until he gets back from his trip and sees if 1) Logan shows any remorse, 2) See Logan period, and 3) See if Bobby would be adult enough to see why he wants to date me. He wants me to be his girlfriend but has said he needs a break until he can do all of those things.
Any advice?

2024.05.19 22:30 SmurfSmacker Saying hello to others on the trail.

Hey everyone. I know most do, but it’s always good to remind people; say hello/smile at others on the trail.
It might make their day. You might be the only person they’ve spoken to/seen in who knows how long. Just doing this can (and did today for me), make a massive difference to that person you said hi to.
I have been struggling a lot recently. Haven’t been out for over 2 weeks, and not spoken to a person for around 3 weeks. But today I dragged myself out to the local trail center. People smiled and said hello to me. I even had a chat for around 45 mins to a chap called Ian who was new and with his son.
You genuinely never know what people have going on.
Happy shredding dudes and dudettes 🤙

2024.05.19 22:30 Joshh170 How Animal Crossing, Lemon Cake, and More Inspired Rolling Hills

How Animal Crossing, Lemon Cake, and More Inspired Rolling Hills
Rolling Hills: Make Sushi, Make Friends is a cozy indie life sim game that puts players behind the wheels of a charming robot sushi chef. It's up to players to learn over 50 sushi recipes and check out the local ingredients to improve them as they master their skills as the adorable Sushi Bot, serving customers in the namesake town's sushi restaurant. As a confirmed Xbox Game Pass release for June 2024, Rolling Hills is likely to attract the attention of fans of life sim games such as Stardew Valley, albeit with an art style that's more akin to other cozy titles like Animal Crossing.
Indeed, Rolling Hills has several inspirations from the video game space, including Animal Crossing, recent restaurant management titles Lemon Cake and The Sushi Spinnery, and the old-school platformer adventure game Chibi-Robo. It sounds like an exciting mix of titles and genres which, altogether, could make Rolling Hills an endearing and entertaining blend of life and restaurant sim mechanics. Game Rant recently spoke with one of Rolling Hills' co-creators, Matthew Taylor, who developed the game with his brother and fellow co-creator James Tillman. Taylor spoke more about the specific inspirations of all these titles.
The Sushi Spinnery, Lemon Cake, and Chibi-Robo
When asked more about Rolling Hills' various video game inspirations, Taylor identified The Sushi Spinnery as "an early inspiration," with both he and his brother being "big fan[s] of Kairosoft sim games" and mentioned it was also "a helpful example of a sushi-themed game." Fans of restaurant management games may also be familiar with Lemon Cake, an indie game about running an abandoned bakery. Taylor went on to explain how Lemon Cake specifically inspired Rolling Hills from a gameplay perspective:
"Lemon Cake helped demonstrate how to make a fun, more cozy restaurant sim that focused on controlling a character. We felt this was important to make the game more accessible, as opposed to a full-scale sim game where you control everything from a godlike perspective."
Additionally, while some players might be less familiar with the Chibi-Robo game series, it's perhaps not too tricky to see the parallels with Sushi Bot as a concept. Taylor described Chibi-Robo as a "personal favorite," adding it was more of a "subconscious" rather than a direct inspiration:
"Looking back, I never directly thought "Let's make a game with a robot protagonist," but it's no surprise that Chibi-Robo was in my subconscious the whole time."
Rolling Hills' Animal Crossing Inspirations
Fans of Animal Crossing may appreciate Rolling Hills' appealing visuals and for good reason. It's clear that Rolling Hills drew from a lot of sources, and Taylor identified Animal Crossing as inspiration for the game's art style.
"It's evolved a lot over the years, but we've always strived for something cute and colorful. We've seen a few games attempt "indie Animal Crossing " over the years, and although our game shares very little in common with Animal Crossing 's gameplay, it was no doubt a big inspiration for our art style."
Although the visuals look to create cozy, chill vibes, it will also be interesting to see how relaxing Rolling Hills' restaurant management gameplay is, something which can sometimes feel more frantic than cozy in some restaurant sims. While games like Plate Up! and Overcooked might come to mind, even cozy games like Lemon Cake can sometimes feel chaotic for some players. When asked about the balance of restaurant management and coziness in Rolling Hills, Taylor reflected on the game's initial inspirations:
"I imagine a lot of folks who see Rolling Hills will be reminded of Overcooked , but we definitely tried to make a chiller game. A big component of that is taking inspiration from RPGs instead of purely action-based games. For instance, if you're overwhelmed by the number of customers, you can invest in better recipes or furniture, both of which will make the game easier."
Rolling Hills releases on June 4.

2024.05.19 22:30 After_Fondant7125 AITAH for telling my co-worker someone reported them for harassment?

Oh boy. Where do I even begin. I'm a head cashier at a retail store. Kind of like a supervisor, but not as much authority, more just an on-site team lead. I got a couple of new people in recently and I connected with a girl, going to call her A, (19F) who's close to my age (21F). Two weeks ago she was helping close down registers as I needed someone to walk me with the cash to the cash office. I don't remember how the conversation started, but we started talking about our sexual trauma. You know, girl talk~. I expressed to her that a pedophile who had seduced me online when I was 17 just got sentenced to 10 years in jail, and that I'm just generally depressed because I like to pretend he never existed. A expresses to me that her uncle drugged her and her friends at a sleepover to take explicit pictures of them when she was little. We talked a little bit about how our individual experiences led us to having hyper-sexual phases. She mentions that, since she just broke up with her boyfriend, that she's thinking about making an only fans. Especially since her mom (her mom has worked at the same store for longer than me) told her that an ex-coworker of ours has an only fans and IS making a lot of money off of it. I asked her if she really wanted to talk about this, since this conversation isn't work appropriate, y'know, "you're not going to report me over this conversation, right?" and A said she "wouldn't even know how to anyways." I offer to help her if she really delves into it, I mean, my hypersexual phase was sending nudes to strangers for attention, lol. A says we should totally start a business together selling nudes on OF. We laugh about it and move on.
Immediately after this, we're still walking towards the cash office with the money, she drops on me that another head cashier, B, (50 something? F) told A that I MUST be having sex with my boyfriend if I'm taking birth control. I mean, I am lol, but it's no ones business that I am at work. I tell her that I'm probably going to report that woman for harassment because that's an inappropriate way to talk about me. She asks me not to, since she'll know she told me. I tell her I'll think about it. Then she tells me that a curbside associate, C, (18F) is making advances on her even though she's expressed she's not into her, and cornered her in the LADIES RESTROOM to apologize. I advised her to talk to management about it because that is serious. She didn't want to. After I relieved her from guarding me with the cash, I immediately went my assistant store manager about both situations. I was very emotionally distraught that someone would talk about me in that fashion... even though B is known to be quite the gossip. ASM advised that I should probably be more private and not tell people about the medications I'm on, but the conversation that happened between A and B was not and he'd investigate it. He even asked me what action he should take since he didn't want to put more attention on that subject if I didn't want it. I told him I'd think about it, then I had been called to help someone somewhere.
C, who wasn't working that night, later comes in with her girlfriend. Not a huge deal at this point in time but it comes up later. I say hi but continue working, keeping my distance because I'd just heard that she was harassing A.
For the next two weeks I kept my distance from B, even though she somehow found out that I knew about her and A's conversation and kept trying to say that A was a liar. She would say that she even had a recording of her saying that she never talked about me like that. I assume that B manipulated A into saying that, because I think B would definitely lie and manipulate to cover her own ass. I've also been keeping A and C apart as much as possible. I personally was harassed by someone who worked curbside and my then supervisor laughed at me about it because "he was nice to her". I really felt like I was making the difference that my supervisor couldn't be bothered to.
This Friday I tell B that I've been keeping A and C apart, since I was going to lengths to make it happen that day and it impacted both of our shifts. She reminded me that A is a liar, like how she lied about that conversation they had, and that I should be handling the situation with skepticism. She said that she posted on her facebook years ago that story about her uncle abusing her and her friends. She moved on to tell me that A had told her a bunch of peoples secrets, specifically how I offered to help her if she actually planned to make an OF.... Honestly? I was shook. There was no point in lying so I told her yes, that happened, but A had said she was fine with the conversation and even brought up the topic herself... She also told me that A said that I was crying that night two weeks ago because C brought in her girlfriend and that I was in love with C...
After calming down a little bit, but not enough honestly, I texted A and told her that I'd be blocking her phone number and on Facebook for discussing my private information with B and that my private life isn't todays gossip. Without letting her reply, I blocked her, y'know. A little later I run into C and I clarify with her that the rumor about me being in love with her is false and that B said A made it up. C says that she hadn't heard that rumor, but she doesn't talk to A anyways, since multiple people have told her that A is "messy". I bring up that A reported C for harassment. Naturally C is pissed, she doesn't do anything to A that I know of. Just ignores her.
A texts me on the work phone and calls me childish for not talking to her about the situation and is mad at me for telling C about the case and that "they almost had it worked out". I've had two sexual harassment cases, or, three now I guess, and I've never been told the status of my cases or how they were handled. I tell her that I'm not putting up with her manipulation, and she needs to apologize to me for telling B about me offering to help her start an OF. She does apologize to me. I tell her that I can't apologize to her, because the situation triggered my trauma and I wasn't in the mindset to apologize. Now I'm just mad that she made me empathize with her and turned my empathy into a weapon to use against me.
I know I'm in the wrong professionally and that I'm totally getting punished for this but, AITAH?

2024.05.19 22:29 1dktbhx ADVICE NEEDED : NHS BLOOD & TRANSPLANT

My manager has constantly told me and 2 of my colleagues that we need to talk more be really chatty with the donors. I've only just realised all three of us MUSLIM. No one else has been told to be a certain way or to talk more. Is this discrimination or am I overthinking it too much. I find it really rude and hurtful being told that I need to talk more than I need to because as long as l'm doing the job, the donor is happy, no complaints have come in. What's the need for me to carry on entertaining them? Wasting my time in pointless conversation with a random man or woman when I don't really care about their life? As long as l've asked them things listed in the SOP, Health and safety and work related medical questions? Why am I being told to go have a chat with them about anything and everything not related to work? When I can just carry on with a different task. I'm not a chatty person to begin with but I know how to have a normal civil conversation with a stranger. But l'm being asked to do more than that which in my opinion is weird and offensive to some extent, how can I tell my manager that this is actually affecting me? All three of us get along with the staff fine cuz we actually know these people but when it comes to donors, we don't understand how we can just yap our gobs off at people e so much for making everyone feel equal and included. People have a problem with calm chilled people who don't gossip. They think something is wrong with that person. We literally just can't be fake that's all there is to it. Can't chat shit that's all like is that really a bad thing team I losing my mind cuz this has been brought up twice now at work.
If I click with the person I'll happily talk to them but every interaction isn't the same and can't be forced some donors I can stay there talking until the end of the donation until they leave the centre but that's rare while most the donors that come in it's the script I have and that's it I'm gone on to the next donor.

2024.05.19 22:27 Vflexual Luggage Fiasco Story

Luggage Fiasco Story
My boyfriend had earned over $130k on roadie starting in 2019 with his ford transit connect and had the freedom to drive around the country doing it until something happened to deactivate his account and he’s been waiting for nine months for them to address it. As such, he’s developed a great hate for roadie but still encouraged me to sign up because we’re in south Florida and there’s a lot going on and we started last week. He was willing to do it himself taking my spare ID but that very day they implemented the selfie verification! So now I’m riding out with him in the Transit and it’s fun. He has no desire to communicate with customers whereas I like to say hi I’m bringing your delivery next, do you have any preferences? I have gotten two $10 cash tips on Home Depot orders and he was shocked, said in at least 1000 HD orders he never got a tip.
We did a single suitcase pickup the other night so I could learn how as it’s something I can do alone in my car in the evening. Saturday morning we parked at the airport in his van and waited for flights. I didn’t know about the Texas flooding and I sure as hell didn’t expect to walk into the baggage office so full of suitcases and roadie people that I started to have major anxiety. I breathed and started to sign each paper and match the suitcase and put them on a big cart. But, being human happened.
I first took a picture of the wrong paper for verification on one order. I tried to get roadie help but it was taking too long and i was so stressed I kept going and matched the other ones, got boyfriend to come from parking to help me.
American Airlines had made an error with one customer by putting “1 bag” in the description but they had two and I got two, but the tags on them said 1 of 1 on the first and then 2 of 2 on the second.
At delivery, I brought up one. It said one in the app. Husband answered the door, and loud awful wife started yelling that it’s supposed to be two bags. I was like oh shoot and showed him the description on the app and he said to his wife “it does say one” and then they closed the door on me and I took a picture of their front porch because what was I supposed to do? And the tag from the airport said “1 of 1” it was not unthinkable to get confused.
Got a call from roadie. Was driving to next delivery, boyfriend said don’t tell them shit they’ll use every word against you etc, he had me so worried to speak to roadie because of his animosity towards them and he does have tons of experience so we dropped the next order then took a break. Roadie told me that it had been considered undelivered because of the incorrect verification photo. I just hung up and took a piece of Xanax.
I found the suitcase. I started a help chat. Boyfriend snapped at me about what to say and that I’m wasting my time because it’ll be a foreign agent who might escalate it and that’s bad. My boyfriend really is awesome but we all have someone or something who’s wronged us and it can be hard to let go lol.
We went and did the last two deliveries and my account locked. Okay. That led to him becoming enraged and of course traffic was terrible too so he was in rare form. Law of attraction is my main philosophic belief system and he was bringing so much negativity that he ran out of gas on the highway and had to go walk to get gas and I sat in the van and got to work. I was ready to do this my way.
I got an email from the trust and security branch and the person on the phone said to email them back with what happened.
I did, as well as go on another chat, I may have done several chats, and I calmly explained that this was only my second luggage gig and that I was confused by the tag saying 1 of 1 and for them to reference the description themselves as the husband had acknowledged it as well.
I said I do have the suitcase after all and I wanted to deliver it to the customer but I have no access to address anymore (it was in my GPS but I wanted the leverage). Normal chat didn’t help at all but sent the info apparently because after I exhausted every contact option I had to let it go and believe that this actually very honest human mistake would be resolved. I got out of the car as boyfriend walked back with gas and I looked around on the ground on the side of I-95 because who knows what could be out there and right at my feet I found a black dildo in the dirt 😂😂😂😂 video attached. I tried to decipher a universal message from it, how insanely random, but perhaps a reminder to keep finding humor no matter what.
Bf returned. I told him about my efforts. He said it’s probably all fucked and then I got a call from Roadie. It was an actual employee of Roadie who’d gotten one of my chats explaining and I had already told bf I’m saying this my way and truth so don’t shake your head at me. Dude was so nice and I said I had been trying to get help for hours but couldn’t get through and wanted to make sure the other customers got their suitcases.
I said I felt terrible because ‘it was only my second luggage one’ and airport was so packed with delayed luggage and I understand why she was so mad after waiting for two days, he said she had called the damn police about it lol
He was very understanding and I also had the power of a customer’s property. He asked if I would deliver it to them and text him a photo of it at their door. I asked if I could just leave and take pic and run because she was so scary lol he was great and said yes. I asked if that would unlock my account. He said yes. So that’s what we did and within minutes I was back on and withdrew my payments.
Boyfriend was in shock. Absolute shock he said not only have you gotten two tips on Home Depot orders, but you managed to get your account locked and unlocked IN THE SAME DAY and get an actual roadie higher up on the phone, and I said hey you teach me a ton of things with this but maybe it’s time to drop the animosity and feel empowered by working with me utilizing the knowledge and creating a balanced partnership.
I know that having the suitcase is why I achieved what I did so maybe always hold something hostage in case there’s an issue.

2024.05.19 22:27 Hi-Im-Moody-Cracker Am I wrong for mostly being angry at my aunt and uncle?

My friend has been feeling rough since her therapist upped her Abilify to 5 mg. Almost every side effect of the medication she had. Well, I'd been up and down with her from the time we went to bed. Saturday 2 am. I'd wake up to her crying about her muscles spasms, not being able to breathe, and her chest hurting. We thought it was from her not bringing her sleep apnea machine with her. I mean, she took her medicine the day before and it helped her chest not hurt. Well, about noon I noticed her face once the window light shined on her. I flipped out. She looked like death and her lips were bluish. I called my dad and he had me call my aunt and uncle next door to see if they'd watch my kids. OK, so I did. I literally said to them, "Can you guys watch my kids, I need to take my friend to the hospital right now." They said they couldn't and that they were taking her daughter out. I called my dad back and told him. He wasn't happy of course (my dad was an hour away). I hung up and I went and made my husband get his a$$ up (he works 2nd and some of 3rd shift). Of course my aunt walks up there and hinders me from leaving because she wouldn't shut up long enough to let me get a word in edge wise. My friend was incoherent, but she managed to get in my car.
Before anyone ask about the ambulance, let me explain. It took them forever to arrive the last time I called them for my sister. It was like 20 minutes. The ride to the hospital for us is like 20 to 25 minutes if you do 60 mph in a 45 zone.
Anyway, my friend gets in my car and I had her call her mom. Her mom said she's not making any sense. She was very incoherent by the half way there mark. By the time I got 2 minutes away, She said, "Oh my God!" And tensed up before completely going limp (she coded). I ran the red light since no one was there and quickly hurried to the ER. My friend had 2 heart attacks 1 in my car and 1 like 4 hours later. She coded both times. CPR brought her back, but it took 10 minutes. I stayed by her side as much as the hospital staff allowed me to be. Her parents and brother had to drive like 5 to 6 hours to get to her as she was visiting me from out of state. While I was sitting there in the ER, I sent my aunt a text. I was as nice as I could be. I sent her: "I love you guys, but your plans could've waited for at least an hour. I needed to get my friend to the freaking ER and instead I was held up by others. Right now, I don't know if she is going to live as she is in critical condition and on a ventilator. She coded before I got into the hospital parking lot, and they had to do 10 minutes of CPR. My only friend. Love you guys, but I'm beyond P.O."
Her response was, "This is your uncle we didn't know she was that bad off and why didn't you call sooner than you did we would have changed our plans?"
I'm sitting there even more ticked off. Like, how am I supposed to call sooner if I've been dealing with my 3 kids and trying to care for my friend at the same time. She didn't look like that 30 minutes prior while she tried to eat cereal. I looked at her while she fell asleep eating that cereal I fixed her. I took her blood pressure, but I couldn't read the electronic stuff and she was just in and out of it, so she couldn't tell me (she was in nursing school). Emergencies come up out of nowhere, so please tell me how the heck am I supposed to let someone know ahead of time to watch my kids? They hadn't even left yet, so they could have called her daughter up and said they'd be late. I would've called someone else once I got my friend to the hospital and situated. I'm very upset about all of this and I feel like I could have saved her life if I hadn't had been held up by certain individuals. I want to blame them for her not making it since my aunt held me up about 10 to 15 minutes longer than needed. I keep blaming myself in all of this. I'm even blaming her therapist that upped her medicine. She had a majority of the bad side effects of Abilify. I lost my only friend. She was 29. We spoke every single day and sent each other silly videos off of Facebook. She loved my children so much. It's hard to find friends like her.
As the title says and as of now, I'm not really into speaking to my aunt and uncle.

2024.05.19 22:26 Extension-Count9463 The Positive Benefits of FetLife for Mental Health, Sexuality, and Community

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share something that has been really beneficial for my mental health and might be helpful for others here who are struggling with issues around sex, kink, and finding a supportive community. Something most therapists won't touch...
For those who may not be familiar, FetLife is a social networking site similar to Facebook, but it's dedicated to the BDSM, fetish, and kink communities. While it might not be for everyone, I've found several positive aspects that have really helped me on my journey, and I wanted to share in case it might help someone else here too.
1. Building a Supportive Community
One of the biggest benefits of FetLife is the sense of community it provides. Many of us feel isolated when it comes to our sexual preferences, but FetLife connects you with people who understand and share similar interests. This sense of belonging can be incredibly affirming and reduces feelings of loneliness.
2. Normalizing Diverse Sexualities
Being part of a community that embraces a wide range of sexual preferences and kinks can help normalize what mainstream society often considers taboo. This can be a huge relief and can help reduce shame and stigma associated with one's sexual identity.
3. Educational Resources
FetLife has a wealth of information on safe practices, consent, and communication within kink and BDSM relationships. The forums and groups often host discussions on how to engage in these activities safely and responsibly, which can be crucial for anyone exploring these areas.
4. Mental Health Support
Many users on FetLife discuss mental health openly, and there are groups specifically dedicated to supporting members who struggle with mental health issues. It’s a space where you can find understanding and practical advice from those who have similar experiences.
5. Personal Growth and Self-Acceptance
Exploring your sexuality in a safe and supportive environment can lead to significant personal growth. FetLife encourages self-acceptance and helps individuals understand and embrace their desires, leading to a healthier relationship with oneself.
6. Event and Workshop Access
FetLife is a great way to find local events, workshops, and meetups. These events often focus on education, safety, and community building. They can be a great way to meet people in person and learn from experienced members of the community.
7. Anonymity and Privacy
While joining any online community involves some risk, FetLife allows for a level of anonymity that can make people feel safer when discussing personal and sensitive topics. You can control how much or how little you share about yourself.
Of course, like any platform, it’s important to approach with caution. Be mindful of privacy, understand that not everyone on the site will have your best interests at heart, and always prioritize your safety both online and in person.
For those who feel isolated, ashamed, or confused about their sexual desires, FetLife can offer a lifeline. It's provided me with a supportive network and helped me embrace my true self in ways I never thought possible.
If you’re curious or feel this might be helpful for you, consider giving it a try. Remember, your mental health and well-being always come first, and finding a community that supports you can make a world of difference.
Stay safe and take care!
TL;DR: FetLife can provide a supportive community, normalize diverse sexualities, offer educational resources, mental health support, and opportunities for personal growth. Always prioritize safety and privacy when engaging online.
Feel free to ask me any questions about my experience, and I’d be happy to help.
