4 years and I have finally graduated from navy federals secured card. About 2 years ago I applied for their go rewards card and got approved for a 3k credit limit but my secured card wouldn’t. I actually got a new card for my secured because it was expiring this year. I woke up to check if my pay from my job hit and noticed 500 in my checking. I went to my secured and it was no longer a 500 credit limit instead a 3k credit limit. So just for those waiting and losing hope. Don’t. It will happen.

I'm 26F and my mom is a single mother and immigrant from a Carribbean country. My dad died when I was young so it has always been the two of us. She's your typical immigrant parent, conservative, sheltering, expects me to live at home till I get married, doesn't have any personal identity outside of being a mother. On top of that she has never been financially stable. She has always worked my whole life but in various part time jobs and while she did everything she could to pay the bills in the house while I was growing up, there was no room for anything extra. I had to take out loans to go to college, I had to buy my own car, and I just graduated from law school. While I'm really happy to have achieved such a goal for myself, my mom now expects me to save her from her financial woes and buy her house from her (which has fallen into total disrepair) so that I essentially become her landlord and not the bank. This stresses me out though because she is always getting onto me about applying for a loan for her so I can buy the house but I don't feel financially secure at all yet. I literally just graduated and as you all with poor parents know- I feel like I'm constantly running trying to keep my head afloat.
I feel like I'm living paycheck to paycheck even with a big salary because I have to pay my loans back and all my other bills. I live alone currently but I am now planning to move back home even though it will really impact my mental health (because my mom is so suffocating) just because I want to start saving as much as possible. I am good about paying my bills on time but I just feel like I never have enough money to take care of myself and now her but also enjoy life (take a vacation, treat myself to something nice, etc. And don't get me wrong I want to take care of my mom because I love her, but I feel like she doesn't understand 100k is not the same as it was back in the day. And yes I have this big degree but that also came with big loans. And because I had no one to teach me financial literacy I am trying to navigate this all by myself, trying to find a financial advisor, build credit,etc.
It's just so frustrating because she's always getting on to me about how I need to save or why I use my credit card and it makes me so angry because other kids didn't have to go through this! I have a credit card because it helped supplement me throughout college because I didn't get an allowance like all my other friends. And on top of that, I don't even have a high limit and I pay it every month! You are only concerned with my finances because you see it as your way out when you don't even stop to consider how TIRED I am of always having to take care of myself like this. I don't even feel like I'm starting my young adult life at level 1 I feel like I'm 10 steps behind where I should be. And I feel like since I'm almost 30 the responsibilities are only going to increase and I am never going to get a chance to just breathe and feel financially stable because women are pressured to start a family by a certain time as well. Anyway, I just wanted to vent because I feel extremely overwhelmed and I have no idea where my life is going because I'm consumed with responsibilities while I watch my friends who came from families of means get to really live their lives for themselves.

Im 28m, and heard about Bitcoin in 2018 shortly after I got out of prison. At the time I was getting my life back together I was saving money and I had 1 bitcoin at one time. I sold it to at some point because I thought I wanted to be a real estate investor as it was an option I could pursue with my criminal background limiting my job opportunities.
I didn't know the first thing about bitcoin or crypto, I even conflated Bitcoin with Coinbase and dismissed it as a scam when I had trouble selling it on Coinbase and withdrawing my money. I started investing in real estate buying single family and renting them out. Covid hit and tenants stopped paying rent, luckily for me I got them to sign up for rental assistance and it was peak of market and ended up selling all my properties 2021. So I ended up with a bunch of cash and needed to do something with it. I told myself I wanted to double my money each year for the next 10 years to become a millionaire by 35.
I looked up everything, every strategy, every investment, history, economics, federal reserve, just went down a rabbit hole and somehow came back to bitcoin. It just offered me the best opportunity and I see it having the best probability of being a very valuable asset 20-30 years from now. I live very modest, have a family, and I really just need the most flexibility and liberty in my life and bitcoin offers me the best tool for the lifestyle I want.
In 2022 I went all in on Bitcoin and have been DCAing since. The past two years I have doubled my net-worth each year. I have a second home in MX, my primary residence, and Bitcoin. 2 beater cars, use my credit cards on a daily, I make about $75k a year between full time job and side businesses. I would be open to diversifying my self custody into BTC ETFs and companies just cause the only threat I see to bitcoin is not being able to exchange for my local currency. However unlikely I think it will be, in 20 years from now it might be throw away money for me I hope.

As if in a foggy blur, I remember hearing about Udio a few weeks ago, a competitor to Suno. I wasn't all that familiar with Suno, but I had heard the song "I ONLY ATE THREE CHEESEBURGERS" which had me perplexed ---- ------ no ffffkfin way that an AI could have written a song this good!
Well, the part I was not familiar with was that you can use HUMAN-WRITTEN lyrics to fill out your composition, and that if the human-generated lyrics are witty and clever then the audio engine will sing them and add common pop-song chord changes like dancing around the Circle Of Fifths, and flittering between vi, IV and ii before jumping to V then back to I.
Anyway, started playing with Udio. FANTASTIC!!! I made a musical with 100 songs in it. Absolutely nobody cared except my mom, and Q8Q from Australia.
And as if in another foggy blur, suddenly this Udio that I was BETA-TESTING became SUBSCRIPTION ONLY and you had to pay for credits. And Inpainting only works if you attach your Credit Card information.
Well if you ask me, that jump to monetization happened WAY TOO FAST. And now around these parts, all the posts are people bemoaning that they blew through 250 credits trying to make a song, fighting with Moderation Errors all the way ((if you don't like the word TWATTED, just TELL me that you don't! Don't just throw up an utterly useless "MODERATION ERROR screen!!)), and end up having spent five bucks to make something unsatisfying.

Bought a 100$ game on PS Store and instead of adding it to cart, it simply asked for my password (which I entered). Thinking it would add the game to my cart, I thought it would be fine, but instead it instantly purchased the game on my credit card instead of bringing me to a screen to validate my purchase/select payment method (or something of the sort). Will it be possible for me to get a refund even though I started installing the game but cancelled it before the game was even playable? I am literally going to rebuy the same game, just using my gift card instead of my credit card.

I'm gonna piggyback a few comments made by other Redditors:

• "They would qualify as a bludgeoning weapon, very heavy". I completely agree on this. I have no proof, but also no doubt that in the event of a nuclear apocalypse, cockroaches and these particular boots will be the last things standing.
• "They're impeccable to my eye". I also agree on this. A lot of $150-$200 are good quality "for the price". These boots are good quality for any price range, but the fact they're only $150 is outstanding.

They have thick leather uppers, full leather lining, Goodyear welt construction, cork filling, steel shank, leather midsole and rubber outsole. No gusseted tongue, but they have a lace loop (or whatever it's called) in the tongue which keeps it from sliding to the side. The welt joint is almost invisible, it's the best I've ever seen.

Yep, I actually ordered a pair of boots for my brother as a gift. I have a few tips if you're planning on buying from them:

• Don't be afraid to contact them on social media and modify their usual boots. I would love to see these boots in a shedron or burgundy color with tan stitching. I'm starting in leather crafting and I got a few samples of some really nice leathers from Lefarc Tannery:
  • Albatros Leather: Corrected grain, chrome tanned and mix retanned. Hot stuffed with pull up effect. Link
  • Argos leather: Full grain leather, 100% veg tan, pull up effect. Link
• Ask them about sizing and width. I bought stock boots from Verne Leather that had an E or EE last, but I'm a 9D. I should have ordered directly from Urban Wolf Club to get my proper size.

Traded in my Mac mini today. I logged out of everything (iCloud, Dropbox, internet accounts), deleted all the files, and checked that there are no longer any passwords, credit cards, history, etc saved on the computer, but didn’t wipe/reset it before bringing it to Apple Store for trade in. (Because I remember last time I wiped/reset my iPhone before doing in store trade in, and they told me I’m not supposed to do that before going. It took a long time for them to figure out how to run the diagnostic tests.) So today I told them I haven’t erased the disk yet, but they said “I’m not gonna turn this on to check.” Then they just took it inside. Should I call them and tell them to erase it? I (25M) have been thinking about ending my life more and more lately. Last year I had 4 immediate family members die and a month ago my gf of 4 years left me. And when you sprinkle in everyday misery’s like my car breaking and my debit/credit card information being stolen the stress is too much. I’m thousands of miles from anyone. I'm applying for the discover student it card and have been rejected twice, probably because of my expenses for when I'll be living in college and not have enough income. These were both a little over a week ago on my birthday. However, I know people who have just put 0 for expenses and they get approved. I would want to try this to get my card already but my mom says applying and repeatedly getting denied hurts my score, even though I don't have a card. It's been about 10 days since I've been denied, should I apply again with a 0 for expenses to get the card or is this a bad idea?

On Kijiji, I almost had a guy scam me because he asked me to get him a $300 gift card on top of him paying me $300 for the headphones, as he was trying to get a gift for his sister after he comes back from the States as a surprise gift.
I’m trying to sell these headphones as I’ve done everything I can, plus I’m trying to pay off my credit card for my concert tickets. Are there any places that would buy headphones?

I bought a 2022 Kia Forte in Spetember of 2022 at ~12%. My monthly payment is $535 on a 5 year loan. At time of purchase, my credit wasn't the best as I had no open credit cards. Since then, I have opened 2 credit cards and according to my reports, my score has gone up 90+ points. Would it be worthwhile for me to refinance to try and get a lower monthly payment? If so, should I go through my original dealer, my credit union, or the bank the loan is through? How can I start the process of doing this? Thank you in advance! I live in Michigan if that helps.

Hi all, this is sort of a cross post, and I am not sure I chose the right flair so forgive me and let me know if not so I can fix it! It’s quite an add situation, which is why I was not sure which flair to choose…
Against what I now know as better judgement, I accepted a pretty odd job with who is my current roommate/landlord, which is how I ended up moving here.
The original terms were that rent and food would be covered in exchange for basically being their personal assistant, while also leaving me time to pick up part time work so I had cash inflow.
Took a little longer than I liked, but I found outside part time work toward the end of February, and by the end of March I was told we didn't have time for me to be able to have another job, and was forced to quit my other job on the spot (for fear of losing my housing).
Once again, I'm cooking and cleaning for this person, as well as helping them with anything they needed for their fairly successful online business, including shipping, customer service, and odd jobs similar to research and data entry relating to the industry (sorry to be vague here, but in the off chance they see this, I would really like to do my best to protect my identity because it is a fairly small and close knit industry).
I was told I can't be actually paid, but as an amendment to our agreement, they said they could let me use their credit card for whatever I needed (which honestly ended up not being super true in the end).
I am essentially in a position where I have to ask someone else to do ANYTHING at all at this point, and I asked to take an entire day off (which would be literally my first day off since I got here in January) to spend it with someone I met here, since given the conditions the last month and a half have been a lot, and incredibly suffocating.
They said yes, then about 8pm on the day I was told I was allowed to be off, they texted me and informed me they didn't believe our arrangement was working for them and they have packed my things and will leave them outside and have changed the locks.
I asked if this would include the things that were purchased for me in lieu of actual payment, and was told they would "reimburse" me for the things instead. I told them simply I am not able to come at the moment, because I am not able to get back there.
I have only been paid monetarily sporadically or have had tips they collected in my name from their customers dispersed only at their discretion, and every time I have tried to leave the house for even a few hours before this there have been issues.
As far as I am seeing it, though, I was fired/locked out on a day I received approval to be off from work, for not being at work (we work from the house). I have plans to speak with local legal aid first thing in the morning, but have been trying to do research independently and am becoming increasingly more confused.
Which laws has this person broken? I’ve been researching this tirelessly since I received the message and just need some advice/guidance about what I need to have and know to be prepared to deal with this situation legally.
I feel like the internet is leading me in 17 different directions here.

Title says it all. This isn’t a post about tipping culture. It’s about the principle of getting unauthorized tips charged to my card. I reached out to a support chat and they couldn’t credit me back for the tip.
I’ve looked on Reddit and others have the same experience. This is fraud. Today’s the last day I use Uber.

I traveled to Mumbai for a wedding in January and came back to Tokyo, both via Hong Kong. And Cathay Pacific had delayed my baggage by almost two days. They had my luggage in HK while I had already arrived in Mumbai. Now, I have already claimed and received compensation from Cathay Pacific airlines. However, since I booked this ticket with my Rakuten premium credit card which has travel insurance included. How do I claim this insurance with Rakuten credit card?
