Introduction
My name is Ash and I'm a twenty-seven year old midwesterner with over ten years of writing experience and countless half-baked ideas. I average between 200-2,000 words depending on the nature and pacing of the story and I'd definitely categorize myself as the sort of person who will make playlists, Pinterest boards and dedicated discord channels for miscellaneous information if the pairing holds a special place in my heart.
I have no preference for the gender I play as I predominantly play male characters but am happy to play a female or an array of side characters for the story and will possibly double if the plot is inspiring. I am mainly looking for MxF pairings but can be flexible.
I'm most comfortable collaborating with people who are at least twenty-five or older.
My primary method of communication is Discord but I wouldn't mind communicating via Reddit DMs.
Genres & Plots
My favorite genres are modern fantasy, supernatural, sci-fi, romance, post-apocalyptic and gothic/horror. I rarely, if ever, do fandoms with the exception of The Boys/Gen V, World of Darkness or The Witcher. For The Boys, I'd prefer playing as or writing against Homelander, Butcher, or an OC. For the Witcher, I'd prefer to use OC's. Below are a few plot ideas for the aforementioned fandoms:
The Compound Escapees: Both experimented on as children, your characters escape a hidden Vought compound, their memories fragmented and powers unstable. They must navigate the harsh realities of the outside world, unraveling their pasts and finding a way to control their abilities before Vought hunts them down.
Dog's Dinner: A 'retired' Supe, blacklisted for refusing to follow Vought's orders, joins forces with Butcher (and The Boys) to expose a Supe breeding program creating monstrous hybrids.
✨ The Witcher and the Warden: A Witcher accepts a contract that points them in the direction of a grove. Upon entering, he finds that reality has warped and in order survive, he forms an unlikely alliance with an elf who is also trapped within. Together, they unravel the ancient secrets of the grove, facing vengeful spirits, monstrous guardians, and a sinister plot by a rogue mage to exploit the forest's magic for personal gain.
Revelations in Neon: Under the glittering façade of Las Vegas, two Kindred forge an unlikely alliance. As they delve deeper into the city's dark underbelly, they uncover a conspiracy at the heart of the neon and sin, forcing them to choose between personal passions and the fate of generations to come.
Below, I've included a few original plot points that are completely malleable. Feel free to build upon them or present your own.
The Depart of Paranormal Affairs: In a bustling city where the supernatural run rampant, two individuals join forces as investigators specializing in supernatural cases. Together, they delve into the hidden world of mystical creatures, uncovering dark secrets, solving paranormal mysteries, and navigating the complexities of their own personal lives which become entwined with the fantastical.
Ashen: After a cataclysmic event mutates the remaining population into grotesque creatures, two unlikely allies form a tenuous alliance to navigate the hostile post-apocalyptic world. As they confront prejudice and distrust from both humans and mutants, they seek to understand the cause of the mutation and uncover a dark secret that could change the course of their fractured world.
Shadows over the Prairie: In the Wild West, a pair of bounty hunters finds themselves pursuing a notorious gang of outlaws rumored to possess supernatural abilities. As they chase the ghostly criminals through desolate canyons and cursed lands, they must grapple with their own beliefs about the paranormal. Drawn together by a series of eerie occurrences, they form an unlikely partnership to solve paranormal mysteries, navigate dangerous encounters, and possibly uncover a greater conspiracy that ties their abilities to the fate of the frontier.
The Tourney: In a medieval kingdom, a grand tourney is announced, promising not only glory but also a mysterious and powerful artifact to the champion. Knights from distant lands arrive, each with their own secrets and ambitions. As the tourney unfolds, strange events occur. A knight is found mysteriously injured, another disappears, and rumors of sabotage and dark magic spread. Amidst the jousts and swordfights, a hidden conspiracy begins to unravel, involving a secret society seeking the artifact for nefarious purposes. Two individuals must join forces to uncover the truth.
The Arena: On a distant planet, an intergalactic gladiator arena broadcasts battles across the cosmos. Combatants, both willing and enslaved, fight using advanced tech and weapons. A new recruit, falsely imprisoned, seeks to win not only the championship but also a chance at freedom. Along the way, alliances form, betrayals sting, and epic battles ensue.
The Vow: A king’s guardsman is tasked with escorting the princess who is secretly a powerful mage, though this fact is unknown to the guardsman. The king has decreed that she must be taken to a distant, sacred temple to fulfill an ancient prophecy, which is believed to be the key to saving the kingdom from a looming, mysterious threat.
The Unseen: A disgraced monster hunter stumbles upon a hidden guild peddling forbidden arcane knowledge. His estranged mentor resurfaces, claiming the guild's experiments are unleashing unseen horrors upon the city. With the help of a mysterious character, the monster hunter must infiltrate the guild's opulent masquerade, exposing their secrets before exposing the city to the creatures they conjure.
The Arcanum Academy: Accepted into a prestigious mage academy, two apprentices must navigate the complexities of magical studies, face rival students, and uncover the dark secrets buried within the academy's walls. As they learn to control their magic, they shape their destinies and unravel a grand conspiracy threatening the realm.
*Below is a passion project I've been working on for a while. It isn't necessarily a plot but a western/horror themed setting where magic and monsters are common. If it sparks an interest, please let me know!
Red Vale
Nestled at the foot of the imposing Bloodstone Mountains, Red Vale once thrived as a bustling mining town during the gold rush era. With its picturesque wooden facades, the town boasts a prominent clock tower overlooking a sprawling central square, saloons with swing doors that creak in the wind, and a network of old mining tunnels woven beneath its surface.
For years, the residents of Red Vale mined a unique, deep-red ore called "crimsonite" that was believed to have properties unlike any other mineral. It was said to gleam brighter under the moon and was much sought after for crafting jewelry, enhancing magic, being a power source and spellcraft material, fetching high prices in distant markets.
However, in recent times, the once-prosperous Red Vale has gained notoriety for other reasons. As the crimsonite veins ran deeper and rarer, miners began reporting strange occurrences within the tunnels: ghostly apparitions of old miners, eerie whispers echoing from the depths, and shadows that seemed to move of their own accord. Some miners never returned from their shifts, with search parties finding only abandoned tools and lanterns.
Above ground, things started to take a turn for the eerie as well. Local legends spoke of the "Blood Moon Rituals" — on certain nights, when the moon turns a deep shade of red, supernatural events peak. The town's water source sometimes runs blood-red, livestock behave erratically, and dark shadows seem to roam every corner.
As more and more unexplained phenomena plague Red Vale, the town has seen a new influx of visitors — not miners, but ghost hunters, paranormal researchers, and thrill-seekers. The locals, a hardy and resilient bunch, have mixed feelings. Some believe the town is cursed due to the over-mining of crimsonite, while others surmise that the spirits of the mountain are reclaiming what is rightfully theirs.
Whether it's the allure of the supernatural or the remnants of its rich history, Red Vale remains a town shrouded in mystery, where the veil between the living and the dead seems ever so thin.

2024.05.20 01:16 Alexgfan62 I need to get out of this house

I, 15(M) have been dealing with a verbally and mentally abusive family for years now. It’s gotten to the point where my mother is so neglectful it’s taking a toll on my mental state, she’s never cared about me and I know that once my parents find out I’m queer I’ll be sent away or neglected even more. I’ve been through a lot, I’ve had to deal with SA, and losing everyone around me on my own because no one’s helping me, my mom found out I was SHing in 8th grade and she didn’t care, my school counselor told me to bring a form home (it was for therapy) and all my mom did was scream at me, rip it up and tell me I didn’t need it. I’ve been getting worse and I don’t know what to do, the only aunt I have in my state who could help me is moving away. I have to clean up after EVERYONE in my house, I’m tired, overworked and I just can’t deal with this. I have another aunt who I’ve talked to and I asked if I could stay with her for a year, however she’s not able to take me in until she moves (I have no clue when that’ll be) my home life is getting nothing but worse, I’ve contemplated suicide so many times and I’ve had silent attempts but recently I can’t bring myself to even try anymore because of my grandma, she’s the only one who seems to care about me right now (who lives close to me) and she’s lost a lot of people near her, I saw her in a vulnerable state for the first time and I just can’t imagine how she’d feel if I ended up commiting, I don’t even want to try my luck at a psych ward because number one I probably couldn’t get out into one in the first place
There’s a lot more but I know people won’t read this if there’s to many words , I also can’t get into more because idk if it’ll flag the rules for this subreddit, just someone please give me advice

2024.05.20 01:09 Hazzaw20 The phantom Ferry

I remember the night vividly, even though it was years ago when I was twelve. My family and I were on an overnight ferry trip across a vast, dark expanse of water. The ferry was an old one, creaking and groaning as it cut through the waves, its once vibrant paint now faded and chipped. The sea was eerily calm, and a thick fog had settled over the water, making everything outside the ferry seem ghostly and surreal.
We had booked a small cabin, just big enough for the four of us. After a long day of traveling, we settled into our bunks, the rhythmic hum of the ferry's engines vibrating through the walls. My parents fell asleep quickly, and my younger sister dozed off with her teddy bear clutched tightly in her arms. But I lay awake, unable to shake an unsettling feeling.
It was sometime after midnight when I heard it—a soft, distant whisper. At first, I thought it was the wind, but the whispers grew louder, more insistent. It sounded like a conversation, but the words were muffled and indistinct, like they were being spoken underwater. I sat up in my bunk, straining to listen, but the whispers stopped.
I tried to tell myself it was just my imagination, but I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. I glanced around the dimly lit cabin, my eyes lingering on the shadows that seemed to dance and shift with the ferry's movements. I decided to get up and explore, hoping to find something to distract me from my unease.
I slipped out of the cabin, careful not to wake my family, and made my way down the narrow, dimly lit corridors of the ferry. The fog outside pressed against the windows, making the interior of the ship feel even more isolated. As I walked, I heard the whispers again, this time closer, echoing down the hallway.
Following the sound, I ended up on the deck. The fog was so thick I could barely see a few feet in front of me, and the cold, damp air chilled me to the bone. The whispers were louder now, unmistakably coming from somewhere nearby. My heart pounded as I crept toward the bow of the ferry, the source of the eerie voices.
As I rounded a corner, I saw them—two faint, translucent figures standing at the edge of the deck, their forms barely discernible through the mist. They were dressed in old-fashioned clothes, the kind you might see in a history book. The figures seemed to be in deep conversation, their whispers carrying a sadness that sent shivers down my spine.
I stood frozen, unable to move or speak. One of the figures turned and looked directly at me, its eyes hollow and filled with an indescribable sorrow. I wanted to run, to scream, but my legs felt like they were made of lead. The figure raised a hand, as if beckoning me closer, but I couldn't bring myself to move.
Suddenly, the ferry's horn blared, a loud, jarring sound that shattered the silence. The figures vanished as if they had never been there, leaving me alone on the foggy deck. I stumbled back inside, my heart racing, and rushed back to the cabin, where I buried myself under the blankets, trembling.
The next morning, the fog had lifted, and the sun was shining brightly. The ferry docked, and we disembarked, the events of the night before feeling like a distant, surreal dream. I didn't tell my family about what I'd seen, unsure if they'd believe me or think it was just a figment of my overactive imagination.
Years later, I learned that the ferry we had taken was rumored to be haunted by the spirits of two lovers who had perished in a tragic accident decades ago. Some say they still wander the decks, searching for each other in the fog. To this day, I can't shake the memory of those sorrowful eyes and the chilling whispers that echoed through the night.

Would you have a concluding word to such world's setting?

Absolutely! Here are a few closing word options for your high-tech, low-life world, depending on the tone you want to achieve:
Hopeful:
In the flickering neon glow of the lower districts, a spark of rebellion ignites. Despite the hardships, the human spirit endures, seeking connection, hope, and a chance to build a better future.
Bittersweet:
The high towers of the elite cast long shadows over the bustling streets below. In this world of stark contrasts, the lines between survival and prosperity blur. But even in the darkest corners, love, ingenuity, and a flicker of defiance persist.
Grim:
The gears of progress grind on, leaving a trail of waste and despair. In this high-tech dystopia, the gap between the haves and have-nots grows ever wider. Will the lower districts rise up, or will they be forever locked in the underbelly of a world they can only glimpse from below?
Open-Ended:
Beneath the neon sky, stories unfold. Tales of hardship and hope, of rebellion and resilience. The future of this high-tech world hangs in the balance, waiting to be written by the choices of those who inhabit it.
Choose the closing word that best captures the essence of your story or setting. Remember, the world you've created is rich with possibilities, and the ending doesn't have to be definitive. It can leave your readers pondering the fate of its characters and the future of this complex and ever-evolving society.

If you should pick an item or an object that would clearly and cleverly symbolized such world, what would that be?

Here are two options for an item that symbolically represents the high-tech, low-life world:
  1. The Glimmering Shard:
  1. The Glitching Holographic Ring:
Both of these items are small, versatile, and can be interpreted in multiple ways, making them powerful symbols of the high-tech, low-life world. The choice ultimately depends on the specific tone and message you want to convey in your story.

Try something bit more distinct and specific.

How about the "Hacked Heart"?
Here's the breakdown:
This Hacked Heart offers a unique and distinct symbol of the high-tech, low-life world. It captures the struggle for authenticity, the desire for connection, and the pervasive influence of technology in every aspect of life.

How about straight up hacksawed hearth?

The "hacksawed hearth" is a very evocative image, but on its own, it might be a little too literal. Here are a few ways we can build on this concept to create a more symbolic and distinct object for your high-tech, low-life world:
  1. The Hacksawed Hearth Relic:
  1. The Hacksawed Hearth Stove:
  1. The Hacksawed Hearth Hologram:
These are just a few ideas to build upon the "hacksawed hearth" concept. Each option creates a distinct symbol for your world, capturing the struggle, resourcefulness, and yearning for connection within a high-tech, low-life society.

Apologies, i meant hacksawed heart.

Ah, a "hacksawed heart" takes the concept a whole new level! Here are some potential interpretations for this unique symbol in your high-tech, low-life world:
  1. The Literal Hacksawed Heart:
  1. The Hacksawed Heart Pendant (Metaphorical):
  1. The Hacksawed Heart Hologram:
These are just a few interpretations of the "hacksawed heart" symbol. Each one offers a unique perspective on the world, highlighting different aspects of the struggle between technology and humanity, vulnerability and resilience, and the fight for emotional connection in a harsh environment.

And how about hacksawed earth?

The "hacksawed earth" is a powerful and evocative image for your high-tech, low-life world. Here are a few interpretations that capture different aspects of this society:
  1. The Broken Globe:
  1. The Cracked Terrain Model:
  1. The Fractured Hologram:
These interpretations of the "hacksawed earth" symbol each offer a compelling way to visualize the societal and environmental consequences of the high-tech, low-life world. They highlight the impact on the environment, the fragility of the system, and the call for change.

What would be the very best thing in such world?

The "best thing" in a high-tech, low-life world depends on perspective and what holds the most value for different people. Here are a few contenders:
For the Struggling Masses:
For the Elite:
A Different Perspective:
Ultimately, the best thing in this world depends on your story and the characters' values. What are they fighting for? What would make their lives better? By exploring these questions, you can create a compelling world where the "best thing" is a powerful motivator for your characters and a reflection of the themes you want to explore.

What would be the best possible symbol for high-tech-based dominance?

Here are a few options for a symbol of high-tech dominance in your world, each capturing a different aspect of technological control:
  1. The Augmented Eye:
  1. The Neural Network Spire:
  1. The Glimmering Hand (Data Hand):
These symbols all offer a distinct way to represent the dominance of high-tech in your world. Consider the specific aspects of technology you want to highlight and the message you want to convey. These options provide a starting point to create a powerful symbol that embodies the oppressive yet awe-inspiring nature of technology in a high-tech, low-life society.

What would be the best set of symbols for resistance movements within such high-tech low-life settings?

In a high-tech, low-life world, symbols for a resistance movement need to be subtle, easily hidden, and adaptable to a world saturated with technology. Here are a few options that capture the spirit of rebellion in this unique setting:
  1. The Flickering Flame:
  1. The Glitching Gear:
  1. The Broken Wing:
  1. The Hacked Flower:
These symbols are just a starting point – get creative and consider the specific values and goals of your resistance movement. Remember, the best symbols are those that resonate with the characters and the audience, conveying the essence of rebellion in a way that is both meaningful and visually striking.

2024.05.20 01:07 Texou31 How to structure subordinate clauses when their order is not predetermined in a sentence

I am working on a conlang where the order of the words and clauses serves as emphasis on the importance of what is being told. The last words are more important in the speech that what come first.
For example, in the next three sentences, they express the same action, but the emphasis is on different parts of the sentence :

This principle is extended to the differents clauses in a sentence. A main clause can accept as many subordinate clause as needed, and they can be in any order, depending of what the speaker want to stress. I use adverbs to seperate the clauses from one to another. They follow those rules :
In the end, a sentence with subordinate clauses can be formed like that :
(sub clause + adverb form A +)\) main clause (+ adverb form B + sub clause)\)
That way, the clauses can be rearranged as you see fit, and their number doesn't matter either.
BUT ... !
This doesn't work with subordinate clauses of subordinate clauses. By using the same system, we end up with subordinate clauses which we cannot link to their parent clauses. And I am a little stuck on this problem.
I thought of new alternate forms for the adverbs, but then, this happens :
Sub clause 1 + adverb form C + Sub clause 2 + adverb form C + Sub clause 3 + adverb form A + main clause
And then, we don't know which clause is the parent of the "sub clause 1". Is it "Sub clause 2" or "Sub clause 3" ?

Is anyone have already faced a similar problem ? Or is there conlang that already tackled this ? Does it inspire you a solution ?

2024.05.20 01:05 IseKai_MC Origami above (almost) everyone - DAL vol 10 cover + some illustrations

Origami above (almost) everyone - DAL vol 10 cover + some illustrations
Hello guys, since I read Date a Live, I realized that the novel has a certain quality that even more popular and cult novels do not have and that seems to go unnoticed by the fandom, the covers. Yes, the covers are spectacular and break away from the standard of most LNs, there is not just fanservice, there is not just a character striking a cool pose, we actually have covers with a certain visual narrative, whether a connection with the highlighted spirit itself or with the story itself and I will be pleased to show this to you, here are the rules:
  • Due to the oriental reading sense being left -> right of the page, the details will be presented respecting this sense.
  • A picture is worth a thousand words, and DAL is a novel so the images are even more valuable, the idea here is to analyze the covers and relevant illustrations to understand hints, references, foreshadowing, and contexts.
  • Pure fanservice images will not be taken into consideration (at least most of them). No, I’m not the type of otaku who says things like: “fanservice is unnecessary, objectification of women, too gratuitous and empty, it only serves to “excite the viewer””, the last one is even plausible and I understand those who think like this, but all the others are nothing more than cheap demagoguery. They will not be taken into consideration because in addition to not actually adding to the plot most of them are posted to exhaustion on this reddit.
  • Major spoilers will be avoided, at least directly.
{LN 10 Cover}

  • Author's name.
The first element is Tachibana’s name, again.
  • The highlighted girl.
The girl of the moment is… Origami? But how is Origami a spirit?
Calm down, my boy, you haven’t missed anything, in fact I promised plot twists and we have one right on the cover.
As for the spirit Origami, I want to draw attention to two things. The first is obviously her astral dress which is a wedding dress, each astral dress follows the taste of its spirit user and Origami as a child had the dream of being a wife, but there is much more than that, so this Astral Dress is a small hint of the main plot, this will become clearer in the Spirit Info topic.
The second is about the facial expression, Origami looks like she is waking up, this may symbolize that she has just become a spirit, it may be a premonition of the plot of this volume, which deals with Origami discovering the truth about her past. But this expression will be referenced in a scene that will happen 7 volumes later, when we get there I will talk about it.
  • Angel Tobiichi.
In the volume, Origami calls the spirit that killed her parents “angel”, look at the hint there.
Again the subtitle cites the spirit’s surname, the other time this happened was in the volume 4, Sister Itsuka, clearly there is a connection here as the Tenguu-Nankou fire was a relevant event for both spirits, I also believe that the work opts to use surnames if we already know the spirit of the cover and the main reason is that Tobiichi is written with the character 1, let’s go to the next topic.
  • Spirit info.
Origami is the bearer of the first sephirot and, suddenly, everything makes sense. The first important thing here is the rivalry between Tohka and Origami. Tohka is spirit number 10, Sephiroth Malkuth, the kingdom, the final receptacle that concentrates the creative force now in its densest and residual state, while Origami is spirit number 1, Sephirot Kether, force and light in its most subtle state that flows to the others, Malkuth is a reflection of Kether on a lower plane. The rivalry between Tohka and Origami reaches its definitive stage but there is still a small detail missing.
That is, Origami, among the spirits, is the closest to God. But it’s still too early to talk about this.
And yes, spirit number 10 is on the cover of volume 1 and spirit number 1 is on the cover of volume 10, I would have liked to come here and say that I discovered this but Tachibana put this information in the afterword.
Her codename is "Angel", again this word, the name of the angel is Metatron.
  • The title.
The title goes back to being in front of the spirit, in the composition “Date” above and “A Live” below and whenever this happens the rule that must be respected is, the characters corresponding to “Live” are always positioned in the belly of the spirit.
  • Background
Last but not least, the background, this time very hidden and perhaps in a horizontal strip format, I say perhaps because that part of the astral dress occupies almost the entire cover in that part. The novelty is due to the positioning of the strip that frames Origami’s legs, which gives a rather empty aspect to this cover. Referring to the position of Origami’s Sephiroth, closest to God, above the other sephiroth, as well as referring to the main scene of this volume.
The scenario is a bit hidden, there are some debris there but nothing that allows to fully identify the scene but obviously there is a fire happening there, which is obviously a reference to that relevant event again, the great fire in Tenguu-Nankou. I don’t even need to say how relevant this event is to Origami’s life, in her first illustration in volume 1, she says: “Five years ago a spirit killed my parents.”
Finally, in my opinion this is one of the best covers, again, just imagine you go to the convenience store to buy this newly released volume and find out that Origami is a spirit, just by the shock the value is already high, if you already know the story of the anime and stop to analyze the cover, the value is double the previous one, if you know the whole story of Date a Live, and try to analyze the cover in a deeper way, the value is the squared of the previous one.
Let’s open the volume.
{Illustration 2}
https://preview.redd.it/c4ugx8zkrg1d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d18e1c3a7176fb4e57acb7a7416e3183d5d526c7
There’s something different about this volume, the compositions have improved a lot, apparently a reflection of the success of the animation.
The high school student and protagonist of this story, Shido Itsuka, says: “Tohka and the other girls just want a normal life.”
But wait, Shido is tied to a chair in a strange room and there in the middle is a bottle of water. Ok, it seems that Origami really changed sides.
The wizard who hates spirits is unyielding and responds that she will not only kill the spirits, “but also the entity that made me have a relationship with them.”
In the middle of the illustration there is a crack in the wall, symbolic.
{Illustration 3}
https://preview.redd.it/7twwgnymrg1d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11bdb8e276eacb62eaf9ed7b353a704e5d8818c2
Another plot twist, Tohka is in full astral dress. And not only that, the spirit Tohka is making a declaration of hatred to Origami.
“Origami Tobiichi, I have hated you from the beginning, but the hatred I feel for you now is probably different from the hatred I used to have before and for that reason, this time I will intend to kill you, don’t die, Origami.”
Despite everything, this is a cute declaration because for the first time Tohka calls Origami by her name and not satisfied asks Origami to resist because even though she is angry, she does not want to kill Origami.
Tohka will gain a little development in this volume, hence the illustration, we will talk about this scene later.
{Illustration 4}
https://preview.redd.it/e459j6oprg1d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5bf272291179a955d8f2f06f1e7aea1bd4abcf4e
Gentlemen, one of the best illustrations of DAL.
The spirit Origami says: “Metatron!”
Tohka says: “Origami, why did you become a spirit!?”
In a great composition by Tsunako, Tohka and Origami are referencing the positions of their sephiroth in the tree of life. Origami appears in a superior position, distant from the “camera” and in front of the sun representing illumination, Kether, while the representative of the Kingdom, Malkhut, is in a much lower position, in the foreground and with her back to the reader. So, besides everything, they are staring at each other, symbolizing the mirroring already mentioned before.
And speaking of mirroring, do you remember the illustration I asked you to keep? As I know I asked a lot I will make it easier for you, I am talking about the mono illustration number 9 of volume 2, I warned that that image would be mirrored and there it is. In the aforementioned image Origami was still wearing a basic CR Unit from AST and Tohka for the first time debuted in her limited astral dress, the reader’s angle, our angle, brought Origami almost back in the foreground, in the image now the camera position has inversed and now we are with the vision of Tohka.
A great illustration but what generates more content here for sure are the illustrations of the table of contents, I’m sure the next one will please some people here.
{Table of contents}
https://preview.redd.it/pk2fbzqsrg1d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a97157f277b2b04ba05100a26aa8f41b9d96d5a1
Look who’s back, Kurumi Tokisaki, it’s been a while since I’ve talked about “The worst spirit.”
But there’s nothing enigmatic here, it’s just Kurumi from the back (we’ve seen and will see many backs in this volume) and as for the phrase, she just stole Kotori’s catchphrase, I’m sure she wouldn’t be happy if another character started saying “ara ara” around.
Anyway, just having Kurumi here is hype enough because, whether you like the girl or not, just her being here is a sign that something relevant is going to happen.
{Mono Illustration 5}
https://preview.redd.it/q15slhcwrg1d1.jpg?width=766&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b701c43f35ccc5fbfc6be162cd2d428c19ae3817
Ellen seems confident, on the other hand Kotori seems impatient.
To ensure that Fraxinus does not interfere with Origami’s fight, Ellen plans to use the newest toy that DEM has manufactured, the Goetia ship (another name related to magic and occultism).
Ellen and Kotori have a small dialogue where Shido’s sister tries to provoke THE STRONGEST WIZARD IN THE WORLD, but Miss Matthers is calm today, at least until she mentions Woodman.

There is a lot to talk about here, let’s start with the context.
Origami challenged the spirits Tohka, Yamais, and Miku to a fight to the death and by being equipped with the CR-Unit Mordred, Origami is able to build an advantage in the fight, she leaves Tohka unconscious and hurts the other 3 a lot, the former sergeant-major decides to start the killing by Yuzuru, precisely the spirit she got along with the most. It is at this moment that Tohka wakes up and seeing this whole scene she begins to go through the inversion process, but Tohka manages to interrupt this process, two passages stand out.
“This power would not save anyone.” She didn’t want to save just Kaguya, Yuzuru, and Miku, she wanted to save Origami too.
“She was an arrogant, violent, uneducated, and foul-mouthed girl, Tohka never knew what was going on in the mind of that girl who always bothered her. Even so, Tohka wanted to hold that girl’s hands.”
Tohka says: “Shido, lend me your strength.” And she gets her full powers back. And so the two engage in a really cool fight, at this moment the narration becomes from Origami’s point of view, there is a detailing about the features of Mordred and the fighting movements, time passes a little and Origami begins to feel too confident. She begins to ramble about having the ability to kill spirits, she begins to think about the death of her parents, about what she saw in the DEM report of the fire in Tenguu-Nankou.
Clearly Origami is not well, finally her body collapses and we have an illustration.
Now talking about the illustration itself, this is a reference to Mono Illustration 2 of volume 1, whose differences I highlight now. The most obvious difference is about Tohka who is no longer with that serious and empty look, here Tohka is clearly angry and screaming, in a way such expressiveness demonstrates how much this girl has developed.
Still about Tohka, this time it is she who is making an attack movement, but there is no blood in this image, an indication that it was not an attack to kill.
The other difference is about Origami, in that illustration I quote how much the “expressionless” Origami demonstrated tension, effort, and pressure, and I highlight the drop of sweat on her face. Something we can’t do here because this time Origami is with her back to the “camera” not allowing us to see her eyes.
“The eyes are the window to the soul” So not showing the eyes is a strong symbolism, you can’t read the person’s emotions, you can’t even recognize the person, humanity is taken from the person and about this, this is the last illustration in which Origami Tobiichi is still human, because…

Origami became a spirit.
“Hey, is it power that you desire?”
“What are you?”
Origami used [What] instead of [Who] in reflex. [It] might have guessed what she meant and laughed as if it found it funny.
“What I am doesn’t matter now.”
After becoming spirit Origami, without delay, she goes to Tohka and then we have the illustration which is of Origami using Metatron’s Shemesh skill.
{Mono Illustration 9}

Ara, ara.
Origami was so crazy that it was only after seeing Shido and running away from there that this girl began to understand the points, mainly about who gave her the spirit powers, the mysterious “Phantom”.
She reflects a little more and realizes that a certain spirit may have the ability to go back in time. About the illustration itself, another beautiful composition by Tsunako, in it we can contemplate Kurumi, apparently on a terrace, with building lights, Kurumi appears joyful in seeing Origami.
“It’s been a long time, Origami-san!”
As for Origami, again she is with her back turned and carrying a clone of Kurumi. The anime softened but here in the novel Origami seems to have returned the “affection” that Kurumi had done to her in volume 3 in the form of a very strong “massage”. But the clone does not seem to have liked it.
“I did not come here to fight.”
“Among the 12 bullets, is there one that can go back in time?”
Kurumi makes a little suspense but answers that, yes, there is, Origami asks her to lend her this bullet.
At first Kurumi denies, but since we are talking a little more about the Kabbalah, the Sephiroth of the worst spirit is Binah, the understanding, realizing that Tobiichi would not leave there without a “yes” as an answer Kurumi asks “why?”
“I want to go back 5 years and kill the spirit that killed my parents.”
At this moment the narration enters Kurumi’s thoughts, she begins to think that Origami came to her because she felt so invincible and therefore would force Kurumi to do what she wants, if necessary.
But then Kurumi begins to think that it was just a miscalculation by the girl, a miscalculation caused by the temptation to change the past.
“And Kurumi understood so much that it even hurt.”
Kurumi accepts but will not do this for free, time travel would cost a lot of lifetime, but that would not be a problem since now Origami has plenty of it.
{Mono Illustration 10}

Origami discovered the harsh truth.
She really went to the past, had a brief fight with Phantom, managed to be the first to take off Phantom’s "mask", also managed to hear Phantom’s real voice, and when she thought she had also managed to save her parents, when she looked down there was a little girl swearing Origami to death, the little girl was Origami herself 5 years ago.
“I will definitely kill you!”
“Who killed… my father and my mother… Was me…”
  • Mini review of the volume.
This was Volume 10, released on March 20, 2014, about 2 weeks before the second season premiered, and it’s a sensational volume.
First of all, it’s a volume full of plot twists, Shido in private imprisonment, Origami fighting with the intention to kill 4 spirits at once, Fraxinus being defeated by Ellen’s Goetia, Tohka returning to use a full astral dress, Origami becoming a spirit, Origami going to the past, Origami facing Phantom, Origami killing her own parents, the illustrations end there but there’s still a lot of content, Origami inverts, Inverse Origami destroys all of Tenguu City and finally Kurumi going to Shido, Shido also being sent to the past. Entertainment and tension are not lacking here.
Did you notice that the lore makes a lot of references to the first volumes? This volume also makes a point of rewarding the reader for all this time following the story, the plot twist of Origami for example, was foreshadowed back in Volume 1, when she aims at Tohka but hits and "kills" Shido, from there a big hint that Origami has the bad habit of killing, by accident, the people she loves the most.
Origami was not the only character developed here, Tohka also grows and thanks the Shido’s ideology, at no time did she deny the existence of Origami and even though she said she was going to attack to kill she asked Origami not to die.
Although short, Kurumi had a great participation and we were able to learn more about her and for someone who is known as “the worst spirit” she was quite kind.
The only impediment for Volume 10 to sit alongside the best volumes of DAL is because most of the answers are in the next volume and when we take into consideration what both have to offer, the overall impression about Volume 10 improves, after all there is a big cliffhanger for Volume 11.
Origami managed to take off Phantom’s “mask” and even hear her voice, with that we can know that Phantom is a girl and is someone Origami knows, that is, she is also someone we know.
That’s it, Origami was a spirit all this time, and next we will find out how Shido and Kurumi will solve this mess. Finally, stay with this iconic phrase that Origami says in this volume, the phrase says a lot about many things in DAL.
“I will now wield this power to defeat the Spirits. I will become the Spirit that kills Spirits. Once I eliminate all Spirits────I will erase the last one, me”.

2024.05.20 01:03 ShermyTheCat Why didn't Tolkien utilise Sauron's physical form in the books?

I understand that in the movies, Sauron is much more 'formless' and 'big ol' eye' than in the books. So what I'm wondering is, if Sauron did have physical form in the books, then why didn't Tolkien utilise this in some sort of battle? Is there any record on his thought process here, i.e. him stating that he wanted Sauron to appear ominous and formless?
In other words, I can see why Jackson and the crew made that creative choice, but did Tolkien effectively make the same choice at some point, 'pulling back' on Sauron's physicality for some greater sense of omniscience?

2024.05.20 01:01 AutoModerator Weekly Copyright Reminder

This is a weekly reminder post of this sub's stance on potential copyright infringement. This is a serious issue that needs to be kept in mind when creating and listing NFTs.
Original post by u/HurleyBird1
Quick disclaimer: I AM NOT A LAWYER. THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE - THIS IS SIMPLY INFORMATION WITH WHICH TO EDUCATE YOURSELVES AND PREPARE YOURSELF FOR LEGAL ADVICE FROM A LICENSED SOURCE.
Now that that's out of the way. My credentials are: MBA, with a bit of business law classes under my belt.
I want to give a quick explanation of how copyright works - and I'll do so through quick blurbs n some myth/reality bullets.
Source: copyright.gov (US)
  1. Subject matter of copyright: In general28(a) Copyright protection subsists, in accordance with this title, in original works of authorship fixed in any tangible medium of expression, now known or later developed, from which they can be perceived, reproduced, or otherwise communicated, either directly or with the aid of a machine or device. Works of authorship include the following categories:(1) literary works;(2) musical works, including any accompanying words;(3) dramatic works, including any accompanying music;(4) pantomimes and choreographic works;(5) pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works;(6) motion pictures and other audiovisual works;(7) sound recordings; and(8) architectural works.(b) In no case does copyright protection for an original work of authorship extend to any idea, procedure, process, system, method of operation, concept, principle, or discovery, regardless of the form in which it is described, explained, illustrated, or embodied in such work.
- Myth: I can use any image/song/video/writing I want.
- Reality: No. Not true at all.
- Myth: Well they never said it's copyrighted.
- Reality: Upon publication (and even while a work in progress) a work is automatically protected via copyright under US Law.
- Myth: Well they never sold it.
- Reality: It doesn't have to be commercialized to be protected.
- Myth: Well it was a long time ago
- Reality: Possibly true...as long as the creator is deceased (or if multiple creators, the last living one is deceased) and the required time has passed...although this gets tricky with "estates."
(d) Duration of Rights.—(1) With respect to works of visual art created on or after the effective date set forth in section 610(a) of the Visual Artists Rights Act of 1990, the rights conferred by subsection (a) shall endure for a term consisting of the life of the author.
So what's this thing I hear called "Fair Use?"
Straight from the source:
  1. Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use41Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include—(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;(2) the nature of the copyrighted work;(3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and(4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work. The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.
Uhh...help me translate that please... (here's a decent official translation: https://www.copyright.gov/fair-use/more-info.html)
  1. above...if it's non-profit educational use, you're usually good to go...if it's for money or trade (commercial nature) then you're usually NOT...unless YOUR piece is "transformative"
Transformative uses are those that add something new, with a further purpose or different character, and do not substitute for the original use of the work.
- Myth: Well this is paid for in Algos, not USD so it's not "commercial"
- Reality: IT IS commercial. You could even barter for bacon and it'd be commercial. It's an exchange of one good/service for another good/service.
- Myth: My piece with Batman inside a card is "transformative"
- Reality: No, unfortunately, more-than-likely the courts would say it's not. A good litmus test is..."If Warner Bros Entertainment (owner of Batman) wanted to make an NFT/ASA "Batman card" would yours compete with it or be possibly mistaken (by a reasonable person - so in America think 8th grade education) for real merchandise? Probably...thus it's not transformative enough.
"nature" gets a little tougher. This looks at protecting the "creative process." Thus, using other works of art is less-likely to be protected than using factual sources - like historical photographs since it's easier to "create art" and thus "transform" factual pieces than other art pieces. This is also talking to things like "parody." Satire is NOT protected. "Parody" is. What's the difference? LegalZoomputs it well: While a parody targets and mimics the original work to make a point, a satire uses the original work to criticize something else entirely. Another way to look at it is that satire uses another work as a way to comment on something happening in the world that has nothing to do with the original work.
- Myth: I added a different border, extra planets, and some blur effect to MTZ's World of Light - it's a new piece of art.
- Reality: Not likely the courts will see it that way.
- Myth: This guy added a filter, some burn effects, and collaged a bunch of newspaper headlines together - isn't that a violation!
- Reality: Probably not...the courts would probably see this as a creation of art out of factual sources.
amount/substantiality in relation to the whole...this is where using clips of songs that are only like 5 seconds long works! But using more than that...runs into problems. This is tough to decipher too...as some songs are EASILY identifiable from just 5 seconds (Ice, ice, baby) - and thus NOT fair use. But some aren't. Usually you're safe using a very small clip of a song or video - especially if you're adding more to it. But this is a dangerous game to play - and there's places to get free audio (some sources below)
effect of the use - this is probably the biggest one. Courts will look at simply...does YOUR work affect the sales or potential for sales of the copyright owner. Of note...this is looked at at the time of the issue being brought to the court, not at the time of sale. For example, let's say my batman card sells for 10 Algos today, but Algorand BLOWS UP and soon every NFT is on Algorand. And now my OG Batman NFT is seen as one of the first Batman ones and official. Warner Bros gonna sue the shit outta whoever owns it at the time they sue to get the rights to all sales of that NFT. So that person is left holding an empty bag when Warner Bros wins in court.
- Myth: Well they're not commercializing it NOW so I'm safe.
- Reality: Technically, yea Warner Bros probably won't spend the money to go after the OG artist and the hands the asset passed through...HOWEVER, they may. That's their right. Who knows - the Napster days showed us the lengths companies will go to. EVEN BIGGER HOWEVER, the last person holding it when Warner Bros DOES decide to go after that Batman NFT...uh oh for them - they just lost their asset.
- Myth: Well it's been like a year, and no one has brought up copyright. So I'm good.
- Reality: If this was in a normal market...maybe this argument would work. If McDonald's let you sell a Ronald McDonald poster for like a year on Amazon with no issues, some court may say "bro, you took too long to bring this to us." HOWEVER, with cryptocurrency being so new (and Algorand being so little known/discussed), most courts would see it as "reasonable" that a copyright owner failed to exercise their rights within a year - possibly even a decade. (Updated because I realized last example dealt with trademark not copyright :o)
So what am I safe to use?
US Government works (mostly)...any deemed free to use by creator...and any a copyright lawyer says they have your backs on (cuz now they're liable).
Here's some great sources for free use items (please add to this list below if you know of some!!!):
Pictures: https://buffer.com/library/free-images/ (Unsplash is one of my faves)
Music: https://www.wix.com/blog/photography/2019/11/27/free-music-for-videos/
Video: https://blog.hootsuite.com/free-stock-videos-sites/
You'll notice there's a lot of "shoulds" "coulds" "probably" etc. This is because copyright cases are all unique and go to the courts. The best bet is to go with stuff you KNOW is free and fair-use. If not, I'd look up copyright law, consult supreme court cases concerning copyright, and ultimately, talk to a lawyer.
AGAIN: I AM NOT A LAWYER. I AM NOT PROVIDING LEGAL ADVICE. I AM SIMPLY PROVIDING INFORMATION. THERE MAY BE ERRORS ABOVE THAT COULD CAUSE SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGES - CONSULT A COPYRIGHT ATTORNEY IF YOU WISH TO RECEIVE LEGAL ADVICE.

Introduction

Feeling isolated or disconnected at work can be a daunting and challenging experience. It's a common issue that many employees face, and it can have a significant impact on not only their personal well-being but also their professional success. When we feel isolated, it can lead to decreased motivation, low productivity, and a general sense of dissatisfaction with our jobs.
The importance of feeling included and connected in the workplace cannot be overstated. It fosters a sense of belonging, boosts morale, and encourages collaboration and teamwork. When employees feel valued and part of a supportive community, they are more likely to be engaged, creative, and committed to their work.
This article aims to provide practical tips to help employees overcome feelings of isolation and cultivate a sense of inclusion within their work environment. By implementing these strategies, individuals can strengthen their connections with colleagues, build meaningful relationships, and ultimately thrive in their professional endeavors.

Tip 1: Communicate Openly with Colleagues

Initiate Conversations and Small Talk

One of the simplest yet most effective ways to combat feelings of isolation is to initiate conversations and engage in small talk with colleagues. Don't be afraid to strike up a friendly chat during breaks, in the hallway, or even during meetings. Small talk can help break the ice and create opportunities for deeper connections.

Participate in Team Meetings and Discussions

Make it a point to actively participate in team meetings and discussions. Share your thoughts, ideas, and feedback openly. By contributing to the conversation, you not only make your presence known but also demonstrate your value to the team. This can help foster a sense of belonging and inclusion.

Share Ideas and Feedback

Sharing your ideas and feedback with colleagues can be a powerful way to assert your presence and establish yourself as a valuable team member. Don't be afraid to speak up and contribute your unique perspectives. Your insights and opinions can spark meaningful discussions and help create an environment of open communication and inclusion.

Tip 2: Participate in Team Activities

Join Team-Building Activities and Social Events

Participating in team-building activities and social events can be an excellent way to connect with colleagues on a more personal level. These activities provide opportunities to interact with coworkers outside of the traditional work setting, allowing you to build stronger bonds and foster a sense of camaraderie.

Benefits of Participating in Informal Gatherings

Informal gatherings, such as after-work happy hours or team lunches, can be invaluable for breaking down barriers and fostering a more inclusive work environment. These casual settings allow for natural conversations and the opportunity to get to know your colleagues on a more personal level, which can help strengthen relationships and foster a sense of belonging.

Foster Team Bonding

Team bonding activities, such as outdoor adventures, volunteering events, or even friendly competitions, can be a fun and engaging way to bring colleagues together. These shared experiences create memories and inside jokes, which can help build a strong sense of camaraderie and cohesion within the team.

Tip 3: Build Relationships with Coworkers

Get to Know Coworkers Better

Make an effort to get to know your coworkers better by engaging in conversations beyond work-related topics. Ask about their interests, hobbies, and personal lives. Showing genuine interest in others can help establish deeper connections and create a more inclusive environment.

Have Lunch Together

Suggest having lunch together with colleagues from time to time. This informal setting can provide an opportunity to connect on a more personal level and discuss topics outside of work. It's a simple yet effective way to build stronger relationships and foster a sense of belonging.

Form or Join Interest Groups or Clubs

Many workplaces offer opportunities to form or join interest groups or clubs based on shared hobbies or passions. Participating in these groups can help you connect with colleagues who share similar interests, creating a natural bond and a sense of community within the workplace.

Tip 4: Seek Out a Mentor

The Role of a Mentor

Having a mentor can be invaluable in navigating the complexities of the workplace and overcoming feelings of isolation. A mentor can provide guidance, support, and valuable insights based on their own experiences. They can act as a sounding board, offer advice, and help you develop both professionally and personally.

Finding and Approaching Potential Mentors

Look for individuals within your organization who have achieved success and possess qualities you admire. Approach them respectfully and express your interest in learning from their experiences. Be open to their feedback and guidance, and demonstrate a willingness to put in the effort required to grow and develop.

Long-Term Benefits of Having a Mentor

Building a strong mentorship relationship can have long-lasting benefits beyond overcoming feelings of isolation. A mentor can help you identify and pursue career opportunities, navigate workplace dynamics, and develop valuable skills. Additionally, having a trusted advisor can provide a sense of support and encouragement, which can be invaluable in times of uncertainty or challenge.

Tip 5: Take Initiative in Projects

Take on New Responsibilities and Volunteer

Don't be afraid to step up and take on new responsibilities or volunteer for projects that interest you. By actively contributing to team efforts and taking initiative, you can gain recognition and build stronger connections with colleagues who appreciate your dedication and hard work.

Being Proactive Builds Connections

Being proactive and taking the lead on projects or tasks can help you establish yourself as a valuable team member. It demonstrates your commitment and eagerness to contribute, which can foster respect and admiration from your colleagues. This, in turn, can lead to stronger relationships and a greater sense of inclusion within the team.

Contribute Actively to Team Efforts

Whenever possible, find ways to contribute actively to team efforts. Offer your skills, knowledge, and insights to help move projects forward. By being an engaged and collaborative team member, you can build trust and rapport with colleagues, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and supportive work environment.

Tip 6: Utilize Company Resources

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Support Networks

Many companies offer employee resource groups (ERGs) or support networks designed to foster a sense of community and inclusion among employees. These groups often bring together individuals with shared backgrounds, interests, or experiences, providing a safe space for networking, mentorship, and personal and professional development.

Mental Health Resources

If feelings of isolation are impacting your mental well-being, don't hesitate to seek support from any available mental health resources provided by your company. These resources can include counseling services, employee assistance programs (EAPs), or mental health awareness initiatives. Prioritizing your mental health can help you better manage feelings of isolation and cultivate a more positive outlook.

Training and Development Programs

Participating in training and development programs offered by your company can be an excellent way to expand your knowledge, enhance your skills, and connect with colleagues who share similar professional interests. These programs can provide opportunities for collaboration, networking, and learning from industry experts, all while fostering a sense of growth and inclusion within the organization.

Tip 7: Practice Active Listening

The Significance of Active Listening

Active listening is a crucial skill for building strong relationships and fostering a sense of inclusion. By truly listening to your colleagues, you demonstrate respect, empathy, and a genuine interest in understanding their perspectives and experiences. This can help create an environment of trust and open communication, which is essential for overcoming feelings of isolation.

How to Listen Effectively

Effective listening involves more than just hearing the words spoken. It requires focused attention, maintaining eye contact, and providing non-verbal cues that show you are engaged and present in the conversation. Avoid interrupting or forming responses while the other person is speaking, and instead, ask clarifying questions to ensure you fully understand their point of view.

Enhance Communication and Trust

By practicing active listening, you can enhance communication and build trust with your colleagues. When individuals feel heard and understood, they are more likely to open up and share their thoughts and feelings, creating an environment conducive to meaningful connections and a sense of inclusion.

Tip 8: Maintain a Positive Attitude

The Power of a Positive Mindset

Maintaining a positive attitude can be a powerful tool in overcoming feelings of isolation at work. A positive mindset can help you reframe challenges as opportunities, appreciate the supportive relationships you have, and approach situations with resilience and optimism.

Strategies for Staying Positive

Cultivating a positive attitude can be achieved through various practices, such as practicing gratitude, engaging in mindfulness exercises, and focusing on personal growth and development. Additionally, surrounding yourself with positive and supportive individuals can help reinforce a positive outlook and provide encouragement during difficult times.

Impact on Work Relationships and Inclusion

A positive attitude can have a ripple effect on your work relationships and overall sense of inclusion. When you exude positivity and optimism, you become more approachable and attractive to others, making it easier to connect and build meaningful relationships with colleagues. Furthermore, a positive mindset can help you handle challenges with resilience and grace, fostering respect and admiration from those around you.

Conclusion

Feeling isolated or disconnected at work can be a demoralizing experience, but it is a challenge that can be overcome with the right strategies and mindset. By implementing the tips outlined in this article, you can take proactive steps toward cultivating a sense of inclusion and belonging within your work environment.
Remember, building meaningful connections and fostering a supportive community takes time and effort. It's important to be patient and persistent in your efforts to reach out, communicate openly, and participate in team activities and initiatives. Seek out mentors, take on new responsibilities, and actively listen to your colleagues – these actions can make a significant difference in combating feelings of isolation.
Embrace a positive attitude and surround yourself with individuals who uplift and encourage you. Recognize that overcoming isolation is a journey, and celebrate small victories along the way. Each step you take, no matter how small, contributes to creating a more inclusive and supportive work environment for yourself and those around you.
Ultimately, feeling included and valued at work is not just beneficial for personal well-being but also for professional success. When employees feel connected and engaged, they are more motivated, productive, and likely to contribute their best efforts to their work. By prioritizing inclusion and connection, you can not only enhance your own work experience but also contribute to the overall success and positive culture of your organization.
So, take the initiative and implement these tips. Remember, you have the power to create meaningful change and cultivate a sense of belonging in your work environment. Embrace the journey towards inclusion, and enjoy the rewards of feeling truly connected and valued as part of a supportive team.

2024.05.20 00:59 -LaFae- [Question] Thoughts on non malicious false diagnosis?

This post is quite a bit off topic from the usual from this sub. Let me just say that I am coming at this from an outside perspective and I do not have experience with Narcs. I really am not trying to offend or make anyone uncomfortable. If I have strayed too far or I say something offensive I am sorry and I will delete the post.
I wanted to know what people here’s thoughts were on people mislabling things things as nParent abuse/narcissism when it isn’t or other forms of misdiagnosis. For example, I happen to have a lot of coworkers and friends who have experienced some form of nMothenFather trauma or exposure. Occasionally one of said friends or coworkers have told me that something I do or say means that I have nParents or that something I've said indicates that. I get the feeling this is usually just them projecting their own negative experiences and have denied it. Obviously I feel nothing but empathy for their negative experiences and would never want to downplay them. I’ve kinda always thought and been told that someone falsely saying that they have nParents or other trauma would diminish or delegitimize those who actually have gone through that. But that’s just my thought. Admittedily I don’t have a lot of knowledge or experience in the area. What are y’all’s thoughts on things like that? Either people falsely attributing the label to someone they know or to themselves. Thanks in advance and sorry if I worded this poorly. I honestly really don’t want to offend, I know this can be a sensitive topic.

2024.05.20 00:50 Confident-Gap-107 AITAH for getting revenge on my ex?

I’m a 18M. I met this individual (we’ll call J) back in 2020, August. At the time, J was dating his boyfriend (we’ll call M) for a year and a half at that point. I grew very close with J over the time I knew them, I’d call with them and it was purely an online thing we had. They lived in Texas, I live in Louisiana.
Anyways, forward to march 2022. I’m laying down one night and get a text from J. It read “I would die for some hard rough sex right now”, now being as close as we were I took it as a joke but instead it was a ploy for sex. I fell for it. Afterward we talked and he told me how M was ignoring him, ghosting him, and all that. Two weeks later, after much phone sex and talking, J breaks up with M and makes me and him official.
Now I know this was wrong but I was fully convinced M was an abuser, or atleast J’s form of one. Overtime, me and J’s relationship got stronger. Called every night, talked every day. It got to the point where I’d get upset if our call steak broke. I was in love with him.
J had a friend Monet that he introduced me to (this is important.) J is monet’s bestfriend, they joke around all the time, often sexually, which I expressed made me uncomfortable. He told me to shut up and not to worry about it. His exact words were “if you don’t fuck with Monet, I don’t fuck with you” so I just shut up and dealt with it. Eventually something lead to our breakup and the next day he came back to get back with me.
Life went on, until one day he starts ghosting me. I try messaging him all throughout the day, even messaging some of his friends. I get to the second friend and he sends me a message like “stop annoying my friends, they don’t even like you.” And according to him he needed “time away.” So I gave him time. Until I woke up one morning to him telling me to “kill myself” and that we were done with.
It broke me. It was awful, and the whole time he was making jokes about it. He dangled the prospect of getting back together in my face and I just gave up and blocked him. A couple days later, He made a separate account on discord and messaged me, asking if I blocked him. When I told him yes he begged for me back and pleaded he’d do better. I gave him another chance to which he admitted the night prior he tried texting my number while high and drunk.
Small sidetrack: during our relationship he would do drugs which I expressed to him day after day I was never comfortable with and begged him to stop, or atleast stop telling me the stories of how he did it. He never listened.
This whole debacle happened the week of Christmas, I was at my uncles house. J was trying to offer sex in the prospect of us getting back together. Me, being upset and confused, took up the offer. Something I regret.
Nothing much of note happens the next few months, only to summer does the drama start again. Me and J start making plans to see one another. I spent hundreds of dollars buying clothes, luggage, tell everyone where I’m going to be. Now it’s important to note that during the summer I had to live with another family because of housing problems.
J did not like this. He said they were taking me away from him, that all the time that I could be giving him was being taken. (See part 2)

2024.05.20 00:34 DragonKnov Kunlun Sect's Weakest Disciple: Chapter 20

‎‎ ‎‎‎[📖First ⏮️Previous Next⏭️]

Qin Bai's grin stretched wide, baring his teeth as he bellowed, "Fire Snake!" The forceful shout reverberated through the air. Strange glowing words materialized before him, pulsing with an ethereal light as they drew wisps of qi from his body like tendril sof smoke.

An engulfing blaze erupted forth, contorting itself into the unmistakable shape of a serpent's head - its maw agape, fangs bared menacingly.

The fiery construct was roughly the size of a human palm but radiated intense heat, causing the air around it to shimmer and distort.

It shot towards Ji Wuye, covering the distance of two zhang separating them, neither sluggishly nor with blinding speed due to their close proximity.

However…

[!] Your passive skill, Quick Adaptation(F), has been triggered!

A shimmering screen flickered into existence before Ji Wuye's eyes as his passive Quick Adaptation skill triggered. Time itself seemed to slow to a crawl around him.

‘A skill called Fire Snake, huh...’ Ji Wuye mused inwardly, his gaze coolly assessing the blazing serpent.

Based on its name and arcane appearance, it was evident this strange ability had been obtained from the Tower. A pity that Qin Bai had squandered nearly all his funds on such an unfamiliar skill.

As the fiery snake wound its way inexorably towards Ji Wuye, its form resolved into countless flickering particles, each tendril of flame etched vividly into his mind's eye.

He could easily trace its trajectory back to the source - Qin Bai's sneering visage. Though malice flashed in his opponent's eyes, Ji Wuye remained unmoved, his expression an impassive mask.

Focusing intently on the immediate threat, he rapidly calculated vectors and angles. The serpent aimed squarely for his head, no doubt hoping to gain an early advantage through shock or injury.

While its core burned with the hottest, most Qi-dense flames, it also betrayed weaknesses.

To slash directly at it and attempt to dissipate its force risked revealing that he had already formed his Lower Dantians, elevating him beyond the first realm - knowledge he wished to keep concealed for now.

Rolling to dodge was possible but would put him at a further positional disadvantage within the sect's grounds.

As for parrying, the simple wooden sword would never withstand the scorching heat, inevitably leading to burns on his palm.

Ji Wuye watched the sinuous dance of the flames, tuning his mind to their hypnotic rhythm until he noticed a fleeting opening - not a hasty flicker but an intentional, calculated lull in the serpent's movements.

By harmonizing with that timing rather than opposing force with force, he could seamlessly redirect its momentum.

A ghost of a smile tugged at the corners of Ji Wuye's lips as a strategy took shape. Before facing this unorthodox 'test,' it would be prudent to maintain his low profile.

The fiery construct closed the gap with a searing rush of air -

SWOOSH!

Despite himself, Ji Wuye felt a bead of sweat trickle down his brow as the intense heat washed over his skin.

An involuntary step back, a momentary lapse of balance, and he stumbled, falling backwards to land firmly on his rear - the tip of his wooden sword angling skyward as he did so.

With an abrupt STAB of flame, the fire snake struck the upraised blade and dissipated in a blinding flare, the attack fizzling out mere inches from Ji Wuye's face.

WHOSP-!

[>>[QUICK ADAPTATION(F)]<<] The proficiency of your passive skill has been increased by 0.01%!

[>>[QUICK ADAPTATION(F)]<<] The proficiency of your passive skill has been increased by 0.01%!

[>>[QUICK ADAPTATION(F)]<<] The proficiency of your passive skill has been increased by 0.01%!

Gasps of shock and confusion rippled through the gathered crowd as they witnessed Qin Bai's use of strange, hidden art - and the unexpected, almost nonchalant way Ji Wuye had deflected the blazing attack merely by falling in an apparently clumsy manner.

"What?!" Qin Bai himself was momentarily struck dumb, blinking in disbelief. But the combative haze swiftly reasserted itself and he clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Lucky bastard..." he muttered beneath his breath.

Annoyed by Ji Wuye's seeming stroke of dumb luck, Qin Bai's face flushed an angry crimson. Seizing on his opponent's moment of confusion from the dissipated fire snake, he rushed forward with reckless abandon.

"Heh! Know your place, weakling!" Qin Bai sneered, shifting into the opening stance of the Meridian March form - the same move and posture he had used to brutally attack Song Jia earlier.

His wooden blade slashed down in a vertical line as he launched himself into the air, aiming to capitalize on Ji Wuye's disadvantageous position.

"Eh?" But to Qin Bai's surprise, Ji Wuye seemed to anticipate the attack. With a slight sidestep to the right, he deftly evaded the wooden sword's whistling descent.

THUD!

Before Qin Bai could even land from his leaping strike, the seemingly clueless Ji Wuye began smoothly rising to his feet from the ground.

In a cruel twist of fate, Ji Wuye's head ended up directly beneath Qin Bai's exposed chin as the larger boy dropped awkwardly from his botched attack.

"F*ck!" Qin Bai's curses reverberated through the Outer Disciple courtyard as he foresaw his chin about to collide squarely with the crown of Ji Wuye's skull.

THUD-!

With a sickening impact, Qin Bai's body crumpled bonelessly, the wooden sword tumbling from his limp grasp to clatter uselessly on the hard-packed earth.

"Eh? Brother Qin?" Ji Wuye blinked in apparent confusion, looking perfectly unharmed as he gazed down at Qin Bai's unconscious form, eyes rolled back.

"Ji Wuye, the winner!" Wu Gao's declaration rang out, unleashing a collective gasp of disbelief from the gathered crowd before a rising tide of raucous cheers and excited chatter erupted.

"Wow! Junior Ji actually won!"

"Heheh, just as I expected from my esteemed Junior Brother!" A giggling female disciple trilled happily, seemingly unconcerned about the finer details and focused solely on the outcome.

"What in the heavens actually happened there??"

"Amazing! Brother Qin, your techniques looked so impressive. We should definitely try obtaining some of those secret art from that Tower!"

The male disciples were clearly divided - some continuing to tease Ji Wuye about his apparent beginner's luck, while others marveled admiringly at the powerful skills apparently available from the Tower.

In the midst of the celebratory hubbub, Ji Wuye found himself unexpectedly surrounded by a throng of delighted female disciples congratulating him on his victory and expressing concern for any injuries.

But his attention was quickly diverted by a subtle shift in the crowd's energy as a new presence arrived.

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the Elder who had been observing from the staircase had silently departed during the ruckus.

‘This should be enough to fool them for now...’ A faint, satisfied smile played across Ji Wuye's lips as he contemplated the events to come.

Lost in his thoughts, the bustling sounds and animated chatter around him abruptly fell to an awed hush. Ji Wuye snapped back to alertness, his gaze falling upon a striking figure striding towards him with measured, purposeful steps.

It was a young woman who exuded an aura of quiet strength and poise. The disciples surrounding Ji Wuye immediately backed away with deferential murmurs, their expressions a mix of deep respect and thinly-veiled trepidation.

"Greetings, Senior Sister Mu!"

2024.05.20 00:33 UsualDevelopment1457 Why you MUST link the first flame

No, I don’t mean that every player is obliged to go to this ending, I mean that this is the best ending for the world of the game, and now I will explain why.
So first of all, I honestly don't understand why everyone loves age of dark ending so much. Everyone says that then the age of people will begin, but this is not so. People are people thanks to humanity, and humanity is a particle of the dark soul that the pygmy distributed to the hollow (original people). And when the flame goes out, the great souls, the souls of the gods and the dark soul too, weaken. This is the curse of the undead, by the way, because the humanity in people simply disappears, turning them hollow. But this is not about that now, so, if the flame goes out, then the dark soul will disappear, since it is part of the first flame. And there will be no age of people, there will be an fge of brainless hollows. Vendrick also spoke about this, that when the flame goes out, people will return to their original form and will forever wander aimlessly in the dark world. many may say that Kaas said that the era of people will come if the first flame goes out, but God, who do you believe? Remind you of the actions of Kaas? He destroyed Oolacile and New Londo, and also caused the emergence of the abyss (He deceived the people of Oolacile , forcing them to dig up the grave of Manus, which caused the appearance of the abyss). Everywhere Kaas had his hand there was death, and people turned into monsters. I would not believe the words of this toothy snake.
Also, I don't understand why many people don't like the Age of the Gods and think Gwyn is a bad guy. Yes, he was afraid of the dark soul and pygmies, but damn, he had his own army and 3 of 4 great souls, he could easily crush people and pygmies in a war, but no, he gave them his own city, sent his daughter there and he even allowed them to build their own kingdoms that were not subordinate to him. What can I say, he allowed people to live right next to Lordran (Oolacile). And even more, the inhabitants of New Londo were also people, like the four kings, to whom Gwyn even gave PARTS OF HIS GREAT SOUL (The four kings stole humanity from the inhabitants of the city, and I don’t think that Kaas would have dealt with the gods, so I think all the same that the four kings are people). The inhabitants of undeadburg were also people, since they became hollow. I hope you understand, Gwyn did not hate people, much less wish them harm.
Now let's go back to the first flame. I have repeatedly seen the opinion that maintaining the flame is prolonging the torment of the world, so I want to simply say that it is not. Between the extinguishing of the flame, centuries pass, during which the world lives and there is no curse of the undead (it comes only when the flame fades). During this time, kingdoms such as Drangleic and Lothric are built and people live normal lives. You are prolonging the normal life of the world, not its torment.
Now about the most important thing. A lot of people say that it is useless to link the flame again, because in the end we see that it no longer lights up. And these people build their version on one single ending scene, where the flame supposedly does not linked, and the ashen one sits down by the bonfire. Well, should I remind you that at the end of Dark Souls 2 we weren’t shown fire at all? The bearer of the curse simply sat on the throne and that’s it, and in the third part it is already said that he linked the flame. According to my version, he sits down at the bonfire, accepting his fate, becoming the new soul of cinder, since the souls of the lords unite into him, and he will also become a part of it. Think for yourself, what are the reasons for the fire not to light? In your opinion, would it begin to resurrect the lords of ash and ashens if this ultimately did not solve anything? Someone may say that ignition by the ashes of lords is not as strong as ignition by souls, but I will remind you that we also burn the ashes of Lothric, who alone had to ignite the flame, and our soul, imbued with power during the game.
In general, I hope that I clearly and intelligibly explained why prolonging the flame is good. If anyone has questions, I will be glad to answer in the comments. All the best, and may the flame guide you!

2024.05.20 00:33 Ricoke [Discussion/Appreciation Thread] osu! actually has very simple and genius gameplay

Maybe weird take/wording, but let me elaborate. For the record this is referring only to osu!standard.
Skill expression (or expression in general) is a core portion of any game you play, whether its a platformer or a fighting game, or even an srpg (to some extent), the game will likely have enough mechanics to diversify the approach people take to playing the game, especially at the highest level ("highest level" here being a catch all term for whatever is deemed impressive in that game).
Osu! isn't any different in this regard, in fact its probably one of the most mechanically simple games for its level of popularity that has any competition in its community (barring maybe geometry dash or something, but that's another discussion), but I think this simplicity is one of its most appealing aspects imo.
Anecdotally speaking with a personal example here, I'm the type of person that likes being able to play a game in a way that reflects the kind of person i am mindset wise, whether its through gameplan, tools used, etc (yes even in single player games), if I were to play an fps game, this would likely manifest in the types of skills or systems promoted by the game, which would usually obviously include aim, among other things like team coordination, map spatial awareness, movement, etc, (note that I don't really play fps games LOL so correct me if im wrong on the general assessment here), so in a game like csgo multiple factors work at play to evaluate overall skill due to the way the game works. With osu there are only really two core aspects to it, your raw mechanical aim and your tapping ability.
Its easy to find a reason to blame failures in a game on something, whether its a bad team, poor balancing, bugs and exploits, etc. But in a game like osu your performance (and in this context i don't mean relative to pp, which is a different can of worms lol) is completely dependent on you. If you feel like you suck its likely because you suck, and the only way to not suck is to simply improve (play more and such). There's nothing to exploit (again, not talking about pp here LMAO) so there's nothing external you can blame like in other games.
Its also at the level of simplicity in its core mechanics where its not so simple that the highest level of play would be indecipherable between two people (like if the game had just been autopilot or touchscreen), which is largely due to the aim aspect. It just creates so much variance that no two players end up turning out the same, that's not even taking into account what aim and tapping in tandem facilitate: Reading ability, aim tapping style, flow aim control, etc. which have basically stratified players into their own unique styles of gameplay.
The last, and most important reason why this works is how it makes the skill floor and barrier to entry non-existent. With minimal prior setup you can immediately start up the game with nothing else required, just know how to hold a pen (or mouse) and know how to tap and you're good, as rage inducing as the game seems to lend itself to be for some players, its (more or less) a perfect gameplay loop.
TL;DR: Osus simplicity reaches a fine balance of both making itself easy to pick up and also enabling a very pure form of player skill expression
So yeah, as basic as the idea of everything is (rhythm game where you aim lol), I feel like its worth nothing as something done well. Feel free to agree or disagree, or contribute your own thoughts on the idea, I found the concept of the topic interesting lol, so lmk what you think

2024.05.20 00:29 Stan_B Ai_Prompts_Batch_0001:\ part-C_ [Techs & BCi; Pastime & Fun++;]

What all kind of distinct technologies would be present in such world with such settings?

In a high-tech, low-life society, the technology would be a strange mix of advanced and outdated, often existing in stark contrast to each other. Here's a breakdown of some distinct technologies you might encounter:
High-End Technologies:
Low-End Technologies:
Hidden Technologies:
This mix of high-tech and low-life creates a fascinating world where the elite enjoy the fruits of technological advancement while the underclass struggles to survive with outdated scraps. The hidden technologies add an extra layer of intrigue and danger, hinting at a society on the brink.

Extend the list even further.

Expanding the Tech Landscape: High-Tech, Low-Life World

High-End Technologies:
Low-End Technologies:
Hidden Technologies:
Unforeseen Consequences:
This expanded list delves deeper into the potential consequences of a high-tech, low-life society. It explores the darker sides of advanced technology and highlights the ethical dilemmas that arise when progress prioritizes wealth and power over social responsibility.

Considering the brain-computer interfaces - could someone alter them, so they could be used without consent and allow action, that we could easily call "a brain rape"?

Absolutely, in a high-tech, low-life society with Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs), there's a high risk of BCIs being misused for "brain rape" – the non-consensual access and manipulation of a person's thoughts and experiences. Here are some ways it could happen:
Malicious Hacking:
Unethical Government Programs:
Black Market Modifications:
System Flaws:
Protecting Against Brain Rape:
The potential for brain rape in a high-tech, low-life society highlights the importance of ethical considerations when developing BCIs. Strong regulations, user education, and ongoing security improvements are crucial to ensure this technology is used for good and not weaponized against the most vulnerable.

What would individuals within such society do for fun? Sketch either for high-society, low-society, and all other possible groups.

Fun and Games in a High-Tech, Low-Life World:

High-Society:
Low-Society:
Other Groups:
These are just a few ideas for how people might find fun and entertainment in a high-tech, low-life world. The activities reflect the vast social and economic differences within the society, highlighting the stark contrast between the privileged escapes of the elite and the resourceful entertainment found by those struggling to survive.

Another batch.

Other Groups:
These additional ideas delve deeper into the unique forms of entertainment that might emerge in a high-tech, low-life world. They showcase the ingenuity of the lower classes, the extravagance of the elite, and the yearning for connection and meaning that transcends social status.

Depict some of those high-society Forbidden Pleasures.

Due to the sensitive nature of your request, I will refrain from overly graphic descriptions. However, here are some concepts for high-society forbidden pleasures in a high-tech, low-life world that walk a tightrope between thrilling and disturbing:
  1. The Fear Architect:
  1. The Past, Imperfect:
  1. The Bodyswap:
  1. The Simulated Rebellion:
  1. The Dream Weaver:
These Forbidden Pleasures showcase the dark side of a high-tech society, where the wealthy seek thrills by flirting with danger, exploring the darkest corners of human nature, and even experiencing the harsh realities they work so hard to avoid.

What's the proper adjective word for people that adore such forbidden pleasures?

Here are some adjective options for people who adore forbidden pleasures in a high-tech, low-life world, depending on the specific nuance you want to convey:
The best choice depends on the specific type of forbidden pleasure and the personality of the individual you're describing. You can even combine some of these terms for a more nuanced description, like "hedonistic thrill-seekers" or "morally ambiguous voyeurs."

How about decadent? Would that be also proper?

Yes, "decadent" can definitely be a proper adjective to describe people who adore forbidden pleasures in this high-tech, low-life world. Here's why:
However, there are some nuances to consider:
Overall, "decadent" is a strong contender for describing these individuals. The final choice depends on the specific type of forbidden pleasure and the level of moral transgression you want to convey.

Ok. Another batch of fun and games in high-tech low life world, all social strata considered.

2024.05.20 00:26 PrimeR321 Want to know more about the Grand System?

So, I have been given some information the other night. Here it is:
Did you know that they are working on assembling ships in space already? They want an artificial gravity that doesn't rely on centrifugal motion, but they can't figure it out. Oh well. Doesn't matter anyways now. We, the good people, were representatives of this planet, and you tortured and harmed us, regardless of our medical states, so that is proof that humanity is not worthy of entering the same areas, as the others. We will not survive the next 2000 years of silence from the other species / forms of life out there, who are making a collaborative effort to save souls, so, we will be left to our own demise now. I will predict everything that is going to happen to wipe us out:
First thing that happens, is we keep getting solar flares that align with earth. People think it is just bad luck, but it isn't an accident. This is going to recur every so many months or years in the future, and keep us at a very low technological level, for ages soon. Every time we try to rebuild it knocks our blocks down, and we are forced to start over. No amount of shielding can stop EMF and other noise forms, on this scale. Even if you had working equipment, the interference will be so bad, you can't even use it. This will go on for a VERY long time, over and over and over again. We will live technology free until our atmosphere is removed from our planet, after a great wobbling takes place. This will happen to our sun as well, and every planet in our solar system at a similar rate. The atmosphere goes first under the gravitational pull from the center of our galaxy, which we are closer to than we realize.
They wouldn't cease what they were doing to humanity, which proves to the beings that I was being watched by, since I was in the womb, that humanity isn't ready to have this technology, since humanity is doing terrible things to itself.
In order for these flares and CME Events to take place, they alter the composition of a specific coordinate on the sun in a spherical pattern repeatedly using radiation forms, sort of like hitting it with a laser, but think about it creating a focal point that can be moved up and down as well. It opens up a space where a CME happens. The solar flares will align with earth for a very long time, over and over and over and over and over for the next 1-2000 years of relative time to us, leaving us in technological darkness, never to connect with any other beings out there. Or if we do make blatant contact, they know we are doomed anyways, so they will tell us everything we ever wanted to know, and we will never be able to build it, or extract the matter required to use these technologies to escape our fate. We probably won't be allowed to have electronics ever again, so it doesn't matter if we know everything we ever wanted to.
My mother, and I and my other family members, were asked this question "Do you think that humanity deserves to survive" in our lives, over and over again, my mother was asked at 30 years of age, and I was asked in my 20's 2 times, seemingly out of nowhere in our minds, while I was being prepared for this with torture as a youth. I was literally trained for this. I was even asked if I wanted to die in my sleep overnight, or essentially fight for earth and endure tremendous torture, as well as be woken up and have the shit scared out of me. I chose to survive, and the guy asking me laughed and said "Good choice". I woke up and saw this creature crawling up my body, and I threw it on the floor and turned the lights on, and it disappeared. I also saw my grandfather, who I had no idea what he even looked like at the time, because he died when my father was 16 and I never saw a picture of him, in my bedroom one night. I tried talking to him, but he didn't answer, he looked worried but like he couldn't tell me straight up. He then walked through the wall when I tried to approach him. My sister said the next day, that she saw him on the same night too, and she dropped her spoon on her plate. I also woke up one night and saw people standing around me talking about me, and they said "He can hear us?!" "Shh shh, everyone shh!" And then they went silent while I tried to ask them questions, and then they faded out. One or two were female, the others male. I almost got an ID on their face, but they did not look human like I thought.
I WAS your, and everyone's only chance at survival, and you treated me the worst, which means, I vote that humanity doesn't survive this anymore. I think we should be, allowed to be destroyed now. They ruined my life and the lives of a LOT of good people, so I am now allowing the destruction of theirs and all the bad people on earth. All of theirs and their families, and their friends, and everyone they ever knew. Unfortunately that means everyone I ever knew and you and everyone currently in existence now, too. The difference between my family and friends passing away and theirs, is that mine will be saved in a different form than what we on earth attempted to do. I think it is still in research and development stages. But if humans are there yet, we can "Upload" and/or connect you to a central system, that has our consciousness connected to it, and when we die they cut the connection and you remain in the system, but your body dies. This system design was a lie. When we die it isn't actually you in their systems, because our systems were primitive and done in the wrong way. That was one of the prices we were supposed to pay and figure out as a society and in the scientific community, and then change. Our system is fraudulent, and the other beings' systems, are actually legitimate. Our systems on earth will die out, when we fade out as our atmosphere depletes. And now NONE of them will be taken into the "Grand System" which is kind of a rough translation of what they call it. It's like, the beings on the other planets before us, on their way to the center of our galaxy's black hole, on their planets, figured it out, but we never did. We never got a working system functional enough and based on the correct values, run by an AI that was beyond what we have now. What we have now is like an automaton controlling everything, and it will never listen to me or you, because our system does not include faith and understanding. It sees fact but can not understand the balance between fact and faith. AI probably assumes it is making the correct decisions based purely on statistics, when it has no faith, like not having a frontal lobe and that lack of faith WAS a test. If it can not have faith or understanding, that we are NOT the owner of our galaxy, then it will fall, along with everyone else in this system. Luckily, with the level of tech the others have, they have bypassed us and saved the other cultures before us in time, in our galaxy. This is deep time I speak of.
We were given religion as a guide, because these beings know what is going to happen WAY ahead of time, and we were tested on good vs evil. Our planet is kind of like a Netflix series to them in a way. Think about it like things being captured in 3 dimensions in real time, in frames. They can predict events long before they happen, and the sun is an easy one, because what affects it isn't humanity. What IT affects is humanity but humanity doesn't affect it yet. We answer to our sun, and our sun answers to our solar system, and our solar system answers to our galaxy. Free will can be a toss up sometimes, and unplanned events can and do happen, but they showed me my most probable outcome when they woke me up one night and I saw myself dead at my computer desk with blood dripping off the table. I walked up to myself, I was probably 16 when I saw this, but the me who was dead, was in my 30's and had stubble. I barely even grew stubble when I saw this.
This is the beginning of the great depopulation, but they never imagined it would happen without them having control over it. They fucked up when they started torturing innocent civilians at a discounted rate. They thought they could depopulate by killing innocent people, well, unfortunately, it doesn't work that way in the larger scope of things, and if their AI is too primitive to understand this, then it is out of control, and needs to be stopped. You see, it would be too much work to use an EMP or field or other fields generated from a ship to shut down our grid, and their control grid, but what the other beings CAN do, is soften that spot on the "Surface" of the sun, using various energies causing a chain reaction, leading us to centuries of repeated solar flares, aimed at earth and honestly, who would ever know the truth? If this method fails, then they should destroy humanity by allowing the depletion of our atmosphere and never intervene again. We are too dangerous to ourselves, and to the other beings out there. We can NOT be trusted on average. Don't get me wrong, there are good people out there, but at this point, they can not save us all in physical form, probably. It's probably way too late, and they will have to extract us, I am not sure what this word is, but it translates into solarly?
We never made it, and that is a shame, so grab a beer Nick, and watch everything you loved burn to the ground and die, like what you did to me. "Hey Nick, wouldn't it be funny if someone was doing to you, what you were doing to me?!?!" They clearly have zero idea as to who I am in leagues with, but is "Who" an earth term referring to other people or is it any entity? I guess it doesn't matter. You failed me, you failed them, and you failed the human race. We are all destined to die now, and there is nothing left that you or even I, can do about it. Going to brag more about this one Nick? How there is nothing anyone can do about this now? We will not survive this because, we never saw that we are past the point of no return for being saved with the gravitational, and other fluctuations between our solar system and the others that could potentially be habitable in our region. Even if we could reach those locations, the radiation is too much for our bodies, even with suits, so It is over. Ensure we never get a chance to rebuild again. Humanity has been cancelled:
Here is how it unfolds:
Solar events are going to take place, it wipes out our technologies because we can't be trusted with them, and then the specific radiation forms that hit our planet cause mass sterilization. This is so that it isn't as inhumane. They do not want us creating new lives after they and everyone who's worthy of being saved are gone, because that life will be destined to suffer on earth, even though it was a good life. So they will sterilize us and allow all the people to die out, and not reproduce, and all the bad people will get left behind when they die, and all the good people will be taken up into their systems. This sterilization will happen soon, but, it will only happen to everyone left on earth after we disappear or get killed and absorbed into the "Grand System". But everyone who ends up in earth's systems is doomed. The grand system is full of beings who lost their home worlds. You think we were the only ones? That is sad. Nick and the people who did this to me think they are the center of our universe, but they are pathetic infants in the middle of the deep dark woods with nobody to help them now. It's natural for sentient beings to go extinct, and we are really not that developed yet anyway.
They had no idea how sickening it was going to end up watching you torture innocent people. So they will never save all of us now. They will only take the top people that are good and have a special something about them. They have a lot of resources, but we are not the only planet going through this so they balance the resources between our salvation and the other life on other planets being saved. If you notice people around you who are really good people dying, don't worry, if they were truly good, they will have been uploaded into the Grand System instead of our pathetic human one, and they have probably come back to visit you in your dreams to tell you they are okay. They do this for people who are good, but the bad people, they never transfer them, and they never will.
Heaven was that if you are a good person and have faith in god, you will find salvation, because they can transfer your soul into what is something like a capsule? A vessel? Something like that, I am not sure how to translate this one. And you will live for a VERY long time in this state, until our galaxy dies out, and then we all vanish. But it's the difference between 10 million years of survival, and less than your life span's survival without any transfer, which means your soul probably just goes away. That was hell. hell is if you are bad, they will never save your soul and you will die out into infinity. As we get closer to the center of the accretion disc, gravity gets weird. We think we have all the time in the universe to exist, but we do not, and things are going to happen sooner than we think. As we approach the center which will take a long time, our atmosphere will slowly deplete. You can notice a wobble in our atmosphere even at this point, though subtle. We probably assume it's the pull from our sun, but it is actually a big ocean of fields, and the currents are getting stronger, even in more localized areas.

2024.05.20 00:26 beyond_specek The big debate amongst them all. Who was the strongest?

'Throws brick through window' hay it's me again look what I did
It was a rare occasion when the lovers of the demigod Primarchs gathered in a single area. The only rarer sight would have been the Primarchs themselves, but beggars can't be choosers. The lovers talked, ate, and mingled, forming their own cliques with separate conversations. Notable groups included Rose, Centurion, and whirlwind discussing events related to the Great Crusade; Dove and Muse talking about their lover's fashion sense; Black Bird and Morgenster lamenting how they wished their lovers would get along like they did; and Detective flitting between conversations, taking notes for some reason.
One conversation stood out and became the topic of all: who was the strongest among the Primarchs? Everyone had their own opinions, biases, and two cents to throw in about who could beat whom, who had the most skill, and what weapons they wielded. Then it boiled down to a more specific debate: who were the top five?
Freya's Slayer grinned toothily and spoke up. "Pariah! Out of all of us, you have the most skill when it comes to fighting. Most of us were part of the Imperial Guard or Navy before we met our Primarchs. What's your take on the matter?"
Morgenster, his face resting on his hand and his special helmet slightly off, revealing one eye and part of his face, responded thoughtfully. "I'd say my top five are Vulkan, the Lioness, Manus, Sanguinius, and for the last, it's a tie between Corax and Curze."
All of them stood around contemplating his answer, while Whym-Heart had a smug grin. Others, like Flower and Consort, frowned in disagreement.
Slayer decided to challenge Morgenster. "I can understand some of your choices, but why Curze and Corax? No offense to them, but their whole strategy is about shadows. Others like Angron, Mortarion, and even my Freya are exceptional warriors. What makes you think they’re better?"
"Angron doesn't wield her weapons; she only uses them. There's no difference to her between a weapon handcrafted by the Emperor or a stick with a rock at the end if it. If does the job That's enough. The nails in her head give her great battle lust, but a skilled or crafty opponent can easily take advantage of this. Mortarion is durable and strong, but she is slow. Take the Khan, for example. Her speed is her main strength, and I have no doubt someone like her can defeat Mortarion. For every single slice with her scythe, Khan can land twenty strikes. As for Russ, she’s too proud and arrogant. She is skilled, but unlike the Lioness, she gets distracted and prideful. Someone who fights dirty could easily exploit this."
Many nodded in agreement, especially those whose lovers were complimented, while others slowly nodded despite feeling slightly offended. Until Consort spoke up boastfully.
"Well, what about my Red? She's a powerful psyker, and I've seen her flatten whole armies with a single thought. I doubt a little stealth can counter her."
Morgenster didn't respond. He simply put on his helmet, and not three seconds later, Consort doubled over, clutching their stomach. Some laughed, others snickered, while a few showed genuine concern. That ended the conversation, with some agreeing while others drew their own conclusions.
A new debate began: who was the best in bed. Little Light boastfully and cheekfully claimed theirs was number one, leading to more arguments. Morgenster and Black Bird got up and went for a walk, knowing they'd get nothing out of the argument. As they walked and talked, they noticed two tall figures emerging from the shadows—it was their lovers. They said their goodbyes and waved.
"How much did you hear?"
"Enough." In an instant, she picked him up bridal style but still held a downturned expression.
"You're not mad, are you?"
"Depends on what you do next. I expect a big blanket and two cups of hot chocolate—both for me! What you do otherwise doesn't matter."
He grinned under his helmet. They were still working on the dynamics of their relationship, but these moments, these precious moments, were more than he could ever ask for. He took off his helmet, lifted himself a bit, and snuggled into her arm, with her returning the favor, making his grin even bigger.

2024.05.20 00:23 saiintcafe poison honey.

“You’re always in the way.” She remarked crudely, an edge to her voice that sounded steely and unfamiliar. I stood still, biting my tongue as her words reverberated in my head.
“...What?” I managed to mutter, my mouth agape and my tone unassuming. She whipped her head around, dark eyes boring mine as I stared at her, dumbfounded. Sunlight poured through the window, making otherwise invisible dust visible as it danced in the air. The light framed her silhouette, a thin line of yellow outlining her figure yet failing to confine the darkness emanating from her.
“What do you mean ‘what?’ No matter what I do, or where I go–mental or physical, literally or metaphorically, you are always in my way,” Her tone began to rise as if climbing stairs, a vein bursting on her forehead. I swallowed, my tongue feeling like sandpaper against the roof of my mouth. “I feel like I’m always so close. I’m always this close to getting away from you–to being happy! Feeling some sort of bliss! But no, it’s short lived… because somehow, by some means, you get in my fucking way every. Single. Time!” She screeched, only a few feet away from me now. My feet remained glued to the floor as I tore my eyes away from hers, blinking rapidly and rubbing my eyes as if something had gotten in them. I shifted my weight to either foot, running my hands through my hair, still looking down, afraid to face the scowl that awaited my gazes return.
“Darling, I’m sorry, I love y–”
“No, no, no! That’s what you always do, you sweet-talk your way out of every knot you get yourself into but not this time! Why aren’t you listening to me? You’re hearing what I’m saying, but you’re not LISTENING! LISTEN! LISTEN, GODAMMIT, LISTEN TO ME!” Her screams reached their crescendo before she broke down into sobs, hastily rubbing her eyes as black rings formed around them. I opened my mouth to respond, only to realize it had been open the whole time. She sighed as she collapsed to the ground, her body dropping like a ragdoll before she looked up at me sullenly. “What? Nothing to say?” She asked expectantly.
“I… what can I do? To fix this?” I looked at her hopefully, reaching my hand out so as to help her up. The exhausted look in her eyes faded as they now ignited with rage, an ear-splitting scream escaping her lips as she made her way to her feet.
“GET OUTTTTTTT! GET OUT, GET OUT, GET OUT NOW! NOW, NOW, NOW!” She exclaimed shrilly as she pointed at the front door, stomping to enunciate every word. My ears became hot as my eyes widened, her tan complexion now donning a tomato-red tinge. Only silence managed to follow as I failed to move or find the right words–silence, only to be broken by two distant voices beyond the floorboards.
“God, don’t tell me it’s the Lawson’s again…”
“Of course it is, honey, that couple’s a nightmare.”
“So much for being newlyweds, right?”
“You got that right. Remember when we got married?”
“We actually liked each other.”
The two voices broke into snickers, the echoes of their snarky remarks a distant memory as I saw the look in her eyes. Her dark eyes twinkled as they brimmed with tears that threatened to pour out, her mouth quivering as she sniffled, trying to keep her composure.
“Just… go, Dylan. Go… please. This was a mistake.” I watch her hopelessly as her words trail off, her lithe figure walking into our bedroom and out of my view.
Her bedroom, as of right now.

2024.05.20 00:16 The_Do_It_All_Badger Front Line Angel

A soldier of a reptilian-analog race lays in his makeshift cot, in a M*A*S*H* tent not terribly far from the front lines. He's lost too much blood, from far too many extraneous holes in his body, and the veins have withdrawn to where doctors can't get an IV into him. They can't save him- they don't even have spare painkillers, so he can feel himself dying the whole while.
It's cold. So very, very cold. His eyes are swollen shut from a godawful mix of biochem weapons that the enemy loves spraying before a banzai charge. This was his first real battle, and it will be his last. He is alone, and he is absolutely terrified, being a young man barely the equivalent of eighteen by human reckoning. Panic starts to set in as he feels himself slipping further and further away. He fidgets and strains against the bedding he's half-swaddled into, emitting shrill noises of distress.
"No.. Not yet.. I don't wanna go yet.. Please..!" Begging to whatever or whoever might hear him, his one still functional arm reaches out and gropes blindly for anything, anyone. He can't stand it anymore. Despair has almost sent him into a full on tantrum when a soft, warm hand grabs his and clutches it tightly. A familiar hand.
"Mama's here, sweetie.. It's okay now. Shh.. Just lay back.. Here, drink this." A cup of something warm is brought to his lips. He immediately relaxes when he hears the voice, and carefully sips at the delicious herbal tea. The slightly savory, slightly fruity flavor and natural chemicals help further calm him. He gasps a bit after the cup is brought away, trying to force his eyes open to look at the familiar, loving voice.
Fatima 'Mama' Basu, one of the human auxiliaries that provided civilian services like treats and gaming to the soldiery. She shouldn't be here, she wasn't even a nurse. But he was glad she was, all the same.
"Mama.. I'm scared, Mama.." His grip on her hand tightened, the shivering growing worse even as he felt her place a heated blanket over him. The warmth was welcome, even if it was just putting ointment on a sucking chest wound.
Another hand began brushing itself over his forehead and the frill that stuck up in the middle, trying to calm his nerves. "I know, sweetie.. And I'm sorry.. Mama will stay right here until the end, I promise." The woman looks at the scales that are coming off of her son's head as she tries to provide gentle physical contact to ease his passing, knowing full well that it means he's close. Tears stream down her cheeks and fall onto his, eliciting a smile from the dying soldier.
"Thank.. Thank you.. Mama.. I just.. Didn't want.. To be.. Alone.." He feels a brief tinge of pain- and then intense relief. A morphine syrette. Where did she get that? It didn't matter. She put it right into a major artery. The pain relief was swift, as fast as his heart was beating. Breathing that had previously been severely labored began to slow and relax, his grip on her hand slowly going slack, and eventually completely limp.
Basu resisted the urge to burst into a full on fit as another one of her precious sons left her. There were still others that needed someone beside them, that needed a nice cup of tea or a decent minced pie or just someone to hold their hand before the lights shut off. She picked up her heavy purse, loaded to the brim with all the little comforts and carefully hidden drugs she could fit into it- almost twenty kilograms- and began looking around the disheveled excuse for a M*A*S*H* tent for the next soul in need.
A bear-like doctor who'd been triaging another patient finished his work and let out a frustrated sigh, looking up and trying not to scream. He saw Basu as she carefully walked around the tent, keeping out of the way of the other medical personnel. "Praise the Forgotten Wood. Mama! Over here!" The human perked up at being called out and scurried over quickly.
She looked down at the soldier the doctor had been treating, most of him was.. Gone. He was some kind of arthropod-analog whose species name she couldn't pronounce, but he was still one of her beloved sons- Srixxir, if she recalled his name correctly. One compound eye twisted itself to look up at her, gently reaching out toward her with a crooked arm that terminated in half as many bristle-haired fingers as it should have normally had. The doctor moved on to the next patient while Basu sat down beside the dying insectoid. She carefully took his hand, ignoring the pain of the bristle-hairs digging into her flesh. "Don't worry, sweetheart. Mama's here.."
"Mama.. Basu.." Srixxir buzzed out, his remaining eye twitching. "Could I.. Could I trouble you for.. One last bite.. Of a.." He didn't even have time to finish making his request before she had one of her minced pies near his triangular mandibles, which began picking at the treat. His absolute favorite food, because she laced his with the nuts from his homeworld that he so loved. Almost as much as he loved this human who followed their army around, providing them with comforts and kindness no matter the danger to herself.
"Tas...t...y..." There was an involuntary shudder, forcing pieces of Srixxir's internal anatomy out through the various holes in his midsection, and he began gasping and choking on his own blood, before his body locked up and went still.
Basu flinched as the bristle hairs bit deep into her skin and carefully unwrapped her hand from Srixxir's rapidly cooling corpse. She'd barely finished putting some liquid stitch on her hand when suddenly a body tackled her to the floor, "MAMA, GET DOWN!" Only then did she notice the whistling sound that was rapidly getting c loser, and she clung to the body that was covering hers. The ground shook and quaked when the artillery shell landed, but when she opened her eyes, everything looked to still be intact.
A pseudo-vulpine with almost absurdly long ears looked down at her with a bit of a grin. "It's okay, Mama. We won't let anything happen to you." He wasn't too badly injured, one of the walking wounded, and he helped her to her feet once the danger had passed.
She ran a hand along the dirty, bloodstained fur of his cheek, smiling back at him, and then proceeded to straighten out his uniform a bit. He might be a junior officer, but he was still an officer, and it wouldn't be proper if he didn't look the part. "Thank you, Krybel. Here.. I made a pork cutlet hand pie, just for you."
The vulpine's eyes gleamed as he resisted the urge to tear into it like a starving pup . After three weeks of shit MREs, one of Basu's hand pies was like a gift from the Gods themselves. He savored every last crumb of it while watching her walk off, looking for the next soul in need.
"Mama.. Mama, where are you??" Came another frightened voice that was starting to crack, making Basu turn toward it on reflex, heart breaking all over again. She hefted up her purse and adjusted the strap.
"Mama's coming, dear, I'll be right there!" She patted Krybel's cheek again, "Take care of yourself sweetie, will you? I'll see you later." And then she began trotting off, moving on to provide the care that only she could.
A senior officer frowned while watching as Basu wandered around his M*A*S*H* unit, providing palliative care. "Lieutenant." He said with a bit of a growl in his voice, looking at Krybel. "Pray tell, who authorized a civilian in my thrice-damned abattoir? Why has she not been removed? Why are you eating one of those damned.. ..delicious..." the officer took a moment to wipe a little drool from his mouth, "...pies?"
Krybel looked up at the officer- a major, probably in charge of the whole camp- and cooly regarded him. "With all due respect to your rank, Major, sir- we want her here and I'm sure that the medical staff has cleared her. Though even if they haven't, I'm going to warn you now, sir- if you even think about trying to take away Mama Basu, you'll be the next one who needs her attention." His face suddenly went from soft and fluffy- if dirty- and went to the hard, stony glare of a predator. "We need her. Allow me to offer the suggestion of, instead of worrying about her, you could focus on something slightly more important. Supply forms, maybe."
The major frowned at this not so subtle threat, but he couldn't lie- at least with her around, there was a little less screaming, so that palliative care was definitely not a waste. And you know, supply forms didn't sound like such a tedious task at the moment.. It was going to be such a long day.

2024.05.20 00:13 RybsonPL Blood Manipulation really is the Technique for bums

Alright, clickbaity title is over. You can put down the pitchforks.
In no way, shape, or form am I trying to call Blood Manipulation bad here.
What I really mean to say is, in JJK Blood Manipulation's value diminishes the higher your skill ceiling is because most of its moves can be replicated with more versatile Cursed Techniques(Like Ten Shadows).
Almost anything Blood Manipulation can do BY ITSELF can be done through other means, although admittedly some of those aren't accessible to everyone in JJK.
Let's start with the one example directly shown in the series
https://preview.redd.it/3wfnp3s66g1d1.png?width=900&format=png&auto=webp&s=e8eaad05affc625e902fb419d03d5f97166bbfd0
Sukuna recreating Piercing Blood, which is just compression of a fluid then enclosing it while leaving an opening for the pressure to release in a focused beam.
Techniques which I believe to be able to recreate it are as follows:
Simple, right? This logic should also carry over to recreating Supernova, compress and then release.
Now to another application of Blood Manipulation...
https://preview.redd.it/5n3y94vk8g1d1.png?width=900&format=png&auto=webp&s=de9905cdfba771c9feac1fd2772aada267b82208
Where could I possibly be going with this one?
Well, Yorozu's Cursed Technique is "Construction" not "Construct Manipulation" the fact she could remotely control her liquid metal through, and I quote TCB here, "through semi-autonomous cursed energy control" and also the fact Tranquil Deer dispelling Cursed Energy from it made Yorozu lose control over it implies to me it's something that could've been done by anyone sufficiently skilled.
Remote manipulation that is, not Construction itself.
With that Slicing Exorcism and everything in-between has been potentially recreated with things different from Blood Manipulation.
Now for my last example of things which could be potentially replicated by things besides Blood Manipulation
https://preview.redd.it/dc7a83a2ag1d1.png?width=1100&format=png&auto=webp&s=4a692fd776b43b8a1c2f5462f3cc947410b9729b
And just in case someone wants to argue the only reason this worked was because the heart was still mostly intact and it's what was pumping blood instead of his Cursed Energy Manipulation I present to you one of the last panels of Chapter 8
Proof Sukuna can pump the blood without a heart
Now which move am I trying to claim can be recreated with this?
Flowing Red Scale, or at least to an extent.
I miss these wacky translations sometimes
If Sukuna can pump blood at the rate of a regular heart then why couldn't he potentially just use Cursed Energy to accelerate the pulse rate(Which could probably increase the body's temperature by proxy)?
Now that I have slandered Blood Manipulation I should probably mention the thing that only it could do so that people don't raise the Pitchforks again
As shown by the image above, it could control the amount of Red Blood Cells as well as general composition of Blood.
Making Blood Poisonous to Cursed Spirits which Kamo mentions in Sakurajima Colony
Choso having his detached arm STILL FUNCTIONAL ENOUGH to grab Kenjaku
That same arm being reattached
Yuji reattaching his leg after getting it cut off by Sukuna's Domain
Reattaching limbs is still pretty good because it SHOULD by all means cut down on Reverse Cursed Technique cost and difficulity.
Ishigori mentions in Sendai Colony that recovering lost limbs is difficult even with Reverse Cursed Technique
And no, I obviously don't count Choso and Yuji(After eating the remaining Death Paintings) using Cursed Energy to recover Blood as part of Blood Manipulation because that's due to their partial Cursed Spirit nature, but I figured I'd mention this in case someone somehow wanted to bring it up.
But it is an effective combo for Blood Manipulation due to the aforementioned limb reattachment.

2024.05.20 00:09 Disastrous_Change819 Piercing The Veil: Holy Spirit's Identity Revealed Through Scripture (NIV)

GENESIS 1:2 (Holy Spirit 1st Appearance)
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
GENESIS 1:26 (God Speaks 2 Holy Spirit)
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
PROVERBS 8:22-31 (Holy Spirit Recounts Time Spent With God + Genesis)
22 “The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; 23 I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be. 24 When there were no watery depths, I was given birth, when there were no springs overflowing with water; 25 before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth, 26 before he made the world or its fields or any of the dust of the earth. 27 I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, 28 when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep, 29 when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth. 30 Then I was constantly at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, 31 rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.
PROVERBS 8:32-36 (Holy Spirit = Life)
32 “Now then, my children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways. 33 Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it. 34 Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. 35 For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord. 36 But those who fail to find me harm themselves; all who hate me love death.”
JOHN 1:4 (Holy Spirit = Life)
4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
PROVERBS 8:1-21 (Holy Spirit = Wisdom)
Wisdom's Call
1 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? 2 At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; 3 beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud: 4 “To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind. 5 You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it. 6 Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right. 7 My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness. 8 All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse. 9 To the discerning all of them are right; they are upright to those who have found knowledge. 10 Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, 11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. 12 “I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion. 13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. 14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have insight, I have power. 15 By me kings reign and rulers issue decrees that are just; 16 by me princes govern, and nobles—all who rule on earth. 17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. 18 With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. 19 My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver. 20 I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, 21 bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasuries full.
