2024.05.20 06:56 Top-Cranberry-9250 Closed bank account

About 9 months ago I had some fraud with my bank account and had to close the account resulting in my payments to planet fitness being stopped. I was pregnant at the time so I thought nothing of it because I wasn’t going to the gym anyways. Now I want to go back but I’m worried about potentially owing money?
They only called me maybe twice to tell me I wasn’t making payments but never sent a letter or anything about owing money. I believe it was well after my 12 months of membership that I stopped paying. Will this be a problem when I try to sign up again?

2024.05.20 06:56 Cute-Chipmunk6814 I’m falling hard

Another night and I feel him more than ever. He’s not new. This is our second chance. Loosing you made me hard. Ever since I’ve been quick to discard. Afraid to love hard. But somehow he is breaking down the walls that went up after you left. I don’t know why I’d think you care. You said you never go backwards but you told me one day in the future. I know now you only said that to spare my heart. Reading these letters here I start to remember when your spell broke. When I saw the manipulation for what it was. In those last days your Charm had worn off. That night in Vegas when we stayed up until dawn. Talking in that rooftop restaurant was closure. I just didn’t know it. When you didn’t show up to my birthday and I sat at that show alone. Yes there was someone at home. But I was willing to throw it all away for you. So silly. And yes that person never lasted. For good reason too. But you missed my birthday. For who ever you were living with at the time. I’m waking up once again. He calms my heart not like you did. Remember the time when we pretended to be cousins to get that poor guy to smoke us out? Shit like that was what I would do for you. And you ate it all up. When I grew out of those kinds of selfish games you were still wanting to play. And i and my morals must have been a disappointment. I test him daily and he still keeps showing up. I pray I have half the heart I gave to you. He deserves it. As for what i deserve I don’t know but I’m not gonna ruin this. Right now he’s sleeping peacefully. And all I want is to care for his heart as much as I can.

2024.05.20 06:52 Volunder_22 How I code 10x faster with Claude

https://reddit.com/link/1cw7h43/video/zcomf098ii1d1/player
Since ChatGPT came out about a year ago the way I code, but also my productivity and code output has changed drastically. I write a lot more prompts than lines of code themselves and the amount of progress I’m able to make by the end of the end of the day is magnitudes higher. I truly believe that anyone not using these tools to code is a lot less efficient and will fall behind.
A little bit o context: I’m a full stack developer. Code mostly in React and flaks in the backend.
My AI tools stack:
Claude Opus (Claude Chat interface/ sometimes use it through the api when I hit the daily limit)
In my experience and for the type of coding I do, Claude Opus has always performed better than ChatGPT for me. The difference is significant (not drastic, but definitely significant if you’re coding a lot).
GitHub Copilot
For 98% of my code generation and debugging I’m using Claude, but I still find it worth it to have Copilot for the autocompletions when making small changes inside a file for example where a writing a Claude prompt just for that would be overkilled.
I don’t use any of the hyped up vsCode extensions or special ai code editors that generate code inside the code editor’s files. The reason is simple. The majority of times I prompt an LLM for a code snippet, I won’t get the exact output I want on the first try. It of takes more than one prompt to get what I’m looking for. For the follow up piece of code that I need to get, having the context of the previous conversation is key. So a complete chat interface with message history is so much more useful than being able to generate code inside of the file. I’ve tried many of these ai coding extensions for vsCode and the Cursor code editor and none of them have been very useful. I always go back to the separate chat interface ChatGPT/Claude have.
Prompt engineering
Vague instructions will product vague output from the llm. The simplest and most efficient way to get the piece of code you’re looking for is to provide a similar example (for example, a react component that’s already in the style/format you want).
There will be prompts that you’ll use repeatedly. For example, the one I use the most:
Respond with code only in CODE SNIPPET format, no explanations
Most of the times when generating code on the fly you don’t need all those lengthy explanations the llm provides before/after the code snippets. Without extra text explanation the response is generated faster and you save time.
Other ones I use:
Just provide the parts that need to be modified
Provide entire updated component
I’ve the prompts/mini instructions I use saved the most in a custom chrome extension so I can insert them with keyboard shortcuts ( / + a letter). I also added custom keyboard shortcuts to the Claude user interface for creating new chat, new chat in new window, etc etc.
Some of the changes might sound small but when you’re coding every they, they stack up and save you so much time. Would love to hear what everyone else has been implementing to take llm coding efficiency to another level.

2024.05.20 06:44 RepulsiveGeologist19 Vent about like

So I 16 M, have had a slew of friends over my life so far, I have another friend close to my age ( who’s online and care about dearly, also fyi , hes bi I’m gay, and I have low self esteem trust issues and high anxiety so I over think a lot ) . We’ve been growing distant lately, since they got out of a relationship , with a guy that manipulated them into thinking they were younger ( the guy was 22 ). Since then I haven’t been doing much Rp stuff, like SCP and military rp ( because that what they like same as I ) and I kinda stopped playing because it reminded me of that ex of there’s because of how shit they treated my friend. Bit recently I’ve been getting into a slew of anxiety attacks and panic attacks, over a guy that manipulated me to date him, then him telling me it was a cruel pranks to get me away from him, when he invited me on a date to his band concert. And in that slew , some of my attacks have been for my friend ( where we will call H ) mainly because we’ve grown so distant, and we’ve talked in the past , but they are also mainly super busy with the Rps ( they’re also in JROTC or ROTC ) . Yesterday after noon ( it’s 12:38 am where I am ) I sent a letter how I felt, and in a short term they said back, of how they care about me a lot too, and busy with life in general, and scared about possibly being trans ( because I genuine and scared of woman because I was SA by my sister when I was younger ) and how we don’t don’t much activity wise anymore, but they do still very much over me and hope I improve getting better. They also told me that they had to crush someone they liked ( like a partner ) and I got overthinking, about it because of the sensitive stuff I said in the letter I wrote. And they have more confidence in that guy that manipulated him than that guy he just told me about. Which got me overthinking on over drive. Which I hate doing all the time. They also know I like them too and im also like a big brother they never had ( from Alabama though but we do love eachother in both ways ). And they fear if we do ever date they’d lose that closeness ( even though we’ve uhhh, done some stuff together ). Anywhom I got school but I’m probably gonna stayed , gn people.

2024.05.20 06:42 Fum_unda_chez I feel so stuck.

I have a bachelors degree in biochemistry from 3 years ago. I want to go to graduate school but none of my professors even knew me. I was invisible. I was and am still fat and ugly so that may have something to do with it. I’m also not bright, I earned a whopping 2.85 gpa for my B.S. I have no where to turn to get a letter of recommendation. None of my past employers liked me and I have no friends. I thought about going back for a second undergrad degree but I have 11,000 in credit card debt and I can’t take out any loans. That means I’d have to work full time to keep up with my expenses. I also hate both of my jobs and all of my coworkers. I have no family to help me, and no family even near me. My sister is literally 16 hours away and my custodial parents are even farther. I can’t ask any of them for help. I have no boyfriend or husband. I’m literally just by myself working two shitty jobs trying to crack away at debt. I feel like I’m going insane. I want to do something more important. I want to work at a place where I like most of my coworkers. I want to be paid more than 17 dollars an hour. Did I also mention both these jobs are night jobs?!? I’m exhausted. There are people with only a high school education who are getting paid at least 19. I don’t know what to do. I want to quit both jobs so badly they are ruining my mental health but no one likes me and no one wants to hire me. I don’t even know what I’m doing wrong. I try to be nice to everybody. I’m the problem but I don’t for the life of me know what I’m doing. I’m also so close to 30. I’m literally 25. I hate my life so much.

I recently got my hands on this stylish Celine hat, and I must say, it's been quite a game-changer in my wardrobe. The first time I wore it, I received so many compliments from friends and strangers alike. The hexagonal design and adjustable feature make it super comfortable to wear, while the vibrant brown color adds a perfect touch of sophistication.
Its French origin is evident not just in the superior quality of the material but also in the intricate detailing and innovative design. However, one drawback I've noticed is how sometimes the adjustable strap tends to loosen up after prolonged use, but it's a minor inconvenience that doesn't take away from the hat's overall charm. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this Celine hat for anyone looking to add a touch of class and elegance to their outfit.

🔗Celine Beige Embroidered Baseball Cap for Women

https://preview.redd.it/myxr87f1gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=093b65c0bd590eb7390f2cbe6a4b0b16f4025966
I recently got my hands on the Celine Baseball Cap in Cotton in Beige, and I must say, it's an absolute game-changer! . The stunning embroidery and hexagonal design are the first things you'll notice – they give the cap that 'wow' factor. What I really appreciated was the adjustable tab, which ensures a perfect fit no matter your head size.
However, be aware that because it's made in France, it may have a slightly heftier price tag than you're used to. All in all, this hat has been a stylish and comfortable addition to my wardrobe, and I can't wait to see how many more compliments I receive wearing it! .

🔗Céline Men's Embroidered Visor Cap - Black

https://preview.redd.it/hc0chos1gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae5ad50d30e1b7c231fd192404afbe3d05f03f38
I recently got my hands on the Celine Baseball Cap in Cotton - Black, and boy, it has been a game-changer for me! This stylish yet simple cap provides the perfect touch of effortless cool to any outfit. The hexagonal design on the visor adds just the right amount of detail, making it stand out without being too flashy. The adjustable tab ensures a comfortable fit, and I love that it's made in France - it has that extra touch of quality that I look for in fashion items.
However, I must admit that the cap isn't perfect. The sizing can be a bit tricky, so I'd advise trying it on before purchasing, or checking the size chart carefully. Additionally, the price point is a bit steep for a baseball cap, but the overall design and quality make it worth the investment if you're a Céline fan.
In summary, the Celine Baseball Cap in Cotton - Black is a stylish and well-made addition to any wardrobe. Its unique design and adjustable fit make it a versatile and comfortable choice for both casual and dressier occasions. Just be sure to pay close attention to sizing, and be prepared to spend a little extra for this luxurious accessory.

🔗Celine Initial Black Baseball Cap for Men

https://preview.redd.it/hqgl0h32gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dee1733d1ee8e38dd650b4b2ac0fb287fe33654f
I recently got my hands on this elegant baseball cap from Celine, and it's been my go-to accessory ever since. The initial patch adds a unique touch to this timeless design, making it stand out from other caps I've seen. The adjustable strap ensures a perfect fit, no matter how my hair feels on any given day.
However, the black color does tend to fade slightly after some time in the sun. Overall, this sleek and stylish cap is a must-have for anyone who appreciates high-quality accessories.

🔗Celine Classic Beige Hat - L

https://preview.redd.it/u50v9nk2gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a72c8b38bab0e19e554297a4930ed137673ea82b
When I first discovered this stylish Celine baseball cap, I knew I had to add it to my collection. The combination of beige and brown creates a timeless color palette that complements almost any outfit. As a fan of Celine's clean and minimalistic designs, I was thrilled by the hexagonal pattern and the subtle, yet bold embroidery.
Made in France, it's clear that this cap boasts unmatched quality. The adjustable tab ensures the perfect fit every time while maintaining the cap's polished appearance.
The one caveat is the price - it's quite expensive for a headgear. However, the limited edition nature, combined with the impeccable craftsmanship, makes it worth considering for those seeking a unique and enduring accessory.

🔗Céline Triomphe Cotton Baseball Cap - Women's M

https://preview.redd.it/lnlbt3w2gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfffacea8b66428af3c2ffeb595e1c421d51f9d9
As a stylish woman who loves to rock hats in my everyday outfits, I recently had the opportunity to try on the Celine Triomphe Baseball Cap in White. This cap instantly added a chic and sporty flair to my look, making it the perfect choice for casual outings or laid-back weekends. Crafted from high-quality cotton, this hat was not only comfortable to wear but also maintained its shape even after multiple wears.
The highlight of this cap has to be the intricate Triomphe pattern embroidered along the visor, giving it a classic and timeless appeal. However, I did find the sizing to be a bit of a con, as the Medium size I chose felt slightly tight. Overall, the Celine Triomphe Baseball Cap in White is an elegant and versatile addition to my hat collection, offering stylish protection from the sun while making me look effortlessly chic.

🔗Céline Wool Ribbed Beanie - Black

https://preview.redd.it/3g0tsha3gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1157b0bcb76650ed560fe781b907db200037ad2
I recently got my hands on the Celine Beanie in Ribbed Wool - Black for Men, and I have to say, it's a game-changer in my Winter wear. The subtle ribbing not only adds texture but also provides an extra layer of insulation against the chill. Unlike many other beanies, this one doesn't suffocate my head or make me sweat; it's light and breathable, yet surprisingly warm.
One feature that stands out is its versatility. Whether I'm out running errands or going for a casual stroll, it pairs perfectly with both casual and semi-formal outfits. The black color is neutral enough to match almost anything, and the ribbed design gives it a unique touch that sets it apart from other beanies.
However, one minor drawback is that it doesn't offer much protection against the wind. On really blustery days, I find myself needing to combine it with a hood or a scarf for added protection. But overall, the Celine Beanie has been my go-to choice for staying stylish and warm in these colder months.

🔗Céline Classic Wool/Cashmere Hat - Beige

https://preview.redd.it/s7jsp8o3gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db243fb99f585e7952c904f58a66699cc892d550
My winter mornings have become so much easier since I got my hands on this luxurious Triomphe Cap by Celine. The blend of wool and cashmere provides a perfect balance of warmth and comfort. This cap has quickly become my go-to accessory on those chilly days.
The beige color is versatile and matches almost all my outfits. A minor drawback, though, is that it sheds a bit, but the softness and coziness make up for it. Overall, I'm absolutely loving this Celine hat! .

🔗Celine Initial Blue Hat

https://preview.redd.it/dhv36044gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=398d943db3de78e87378b50d6cb1089fd5b705bc
As a reviewer who's been sporting the Céline Initial Baseball Cap in Blue (Size M) for men, I can't emphasize enough how this hat has made a statement in my daily attire. The intricate hexagonal design stands out - a nod to the brand's classic style. The adjustable strap ensures a comfortable fit while maintaining its effortless and cool look.
However, as a con, it may not be that suitable for a very hot day, as cotton can feel a bit warm. But don't worry, it's the perfect companion for a stroll around town or a casual outing with friends. Overall, the Céline Initial Baseball Cap is a stylish addition to your accessories that adds charisma to every outfit.

🔗Céline Triomphe Beige Baseball Cap - Women's Size M

https://preview.redd.it/0oj7o2k4gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b519b089a15e2e2fa71e7211cbf537e49bc0b37
As a fashion enthusiast, I have recently added the Celine Triomphe Baseball Cap to my wardrobe collection. The beige and brown color combination is perfect for elevating any outfit, while the adjustable tab ensures a comfortable fit that suits various head sizes.
The highlight of this hat is undoubtedly its stunning Triomphe patch, which adds a touch of elegance and exclusivity to the overall design. Moreover, the hexagonal pattern on the cap adds a unique flair that sets it apart from other traditional baseball caps. However, one downside is that the fabric might feel slightly stiff at first, but it does soften up with time.
Made in France, this cap exudes quality and craftsmanship that is hard to come by nowadays. Despite not having any other reviews available for this product, I am confident that it will be a favorite in my collection due to its classic appeal and versatile nature.
For those who desire a blend of chic style and sporty functionality, the Celine Triomphe Baseball Cap is definitely worth considering. Its combination of timeless elegance and modern design makes it a perfect accessory for any wardrobe.

🔗Celine Striped Flannel Baseball Cap - M

As a fashion enthusiast, I recently got my hands on this Céline Baseball Cap, and I must say, it's been an absolute game-changer. The grey and black striped flannel fabric provides a subtle hint of casual chic, making it perfect for both casual outings and smart-casual events.
The 7cm visor helps keep the sun out of my eyes, while the adjustable tab ensures a perfect fit every time. The hexagonal pattern and the Céline embroidery are a great nod to the brand's heritage without going overboard on the logo-driven trend. The only downside is that it's made in France, which may be a tad expensive for some.
Overall, I can't recommend this stylish cap enough! .

In the heart of winter, there's something undeniably charming about pulling on a soft, warm beret. I recently got my hands on the Celine's Beret in Aran Mohair Wool. It's a stylish yet practical piece, offering both fashion and function. The off-white color adds a classic touch, perfect for pairing with any outfit.
One of the standout features of this piece is the Aran Mohair Wool it's made from. It's incredibly soft, providing excellent insulation against the cold. I was pleasantly surprised by how warm it kept my ears. However, one downside to this quality is that the wool might be too warm for milder temperatures.
The design is simple yet elegant, with a slightly oversized fit that gives it a modern twist. But, this might be a little too slouchy for some heads. Despite that, I find the loose fit charming and stylish.
Overall, the Celine's Beret in Aran Mohair Wool is a versatile piece that provides both style and comfort. It's perfect for keeping your ears warm during those frosty winter days.

🔗Celine Women's Vanille/Gris/Taupe Triomphe Bucket Hat in Checked Wool

I recently added the Celine Triomphe Bucket Hat in Checked Wool to my wardrobe, and it's become one of my favorite go-to accessories for stylish protection from the sun. The grey, brown, and beige check pattern adds a playful twist to the classic bucket hat design, while its medium size ensures a comfortable fit that won't swallow my face.
One aspect that blew me away was the hat's material. The checked wool feels incredibly soft against my skin, while its breathability keeps me from overheating. Even on days where I've been caught in the rain, this hat has held up impressively well due to its top-notch construction.
However, there's one drawback I've noticed with this hat. Its larger size means it doesn't fold as compactly as my other hats do. But honestly, who folds their Celine hat, right? Overall, it's a stylish and comfortable addition to my collection that I can't see myself parting with anytime soon.

🔗Céline Earflap Chapka in Brown Monogram

I've been using this stylish and elegant Céline Brown Monogrammed Chapka during my daily strolls and it's been a game-changer. The plush and warm lambskin shearling ear flaps provide a perfect protection against the harsh winter winds, while the high-quality leather material makes it durable and chic.
The adjustable tabs with distinctive D-ring hardware make it effortless to find the right fit, and the hexagonal visor design offers a unique touch. Made in France, this 100% cotton, 50% cotton, 50% polyamide lined chapka not only keeps me cozy but also adds a sophisticated air to my winter wardrobe. The only downside is that it's a limited edition, so getting your hands on one might be a bit challenging! .

2024.05.20 06:38 SmallConsequence4109 Is he a red flag or crazy? Need help ASAP!

Hey I wanted to make a new post with the full story. I met this guy off hinge and we started talking immediately he said he was looking for a relationship and I told him if the person seems right I would love to be in one with someone. We go on dates for the first week and I told him I write poetry so he starts writing me love letters and finding my favorite flowers. He also was going to get me a cat bc I told him I wanted a pet but we only knew each other for a week. We were supposed to meet up for a date but he ends up being hours late turns out he was going on a date w another girl every day before me and him would hang out back to back. He even had the paintings they did together hung up on his wall. I confronted him about and he said he was talking to multiple people at once because he gets really obsessed with people and that his friends told him that that would be a good idea so he won’t be obsessed. He then said he was planning on picking me over her but then I was like is that a red flag. But we spend the next five days together and he buys me a bunch of things but I end up going on vacation and the text messages became distant he ends up going to a graduation for this girl he claims is his friend but I’m pretty sure they had something going on. We weren’t texting at the time bc he kept leaving me on read for days. At the graduation he’s screaming my name to get my attention but he’s there for another girl. So after that happened I decided to reach out to him and he ignored me after he was the one screaming for my attention. Why would someone do this what does this mean? Is he crazy for context I’m 22 and he’s 24.

2024.05.20 06:27 bornsliqqy Ordered 2 diff special plates same time

I ordered a special plate last September and after applying and paying I changed my mind and applied for a different special plate for the same car. I thought it would cancel the first but I was told I’d just get both. I got a letter from the dmv today Reg 18 stating that “there is an incomplete transaction on the vehicle record that must be completed before the license plates may be assigned”. This was in regards to my 2nd plate application. I’m assuming it’s because I have to wait to get the first plate to allow the 2nd to replace it.
My question is what am I supposed to do? Should I wait for the first plate and then fill out the Reg 17 stating what the most current plate it is replacing? Anyone know what to do? I’m worried I’m going to lose my reservation on my second plate and have to wait another 10 months. Thank you.

2024.05.20 06:16 GetOffMyLawn01 Stereotypes of Distance Education?

Hi all! I’m a distance student at a flagship university, and I’m gearing up for the upcoming application period this fall. I should graduate with a 4.0, if not quite close. I’ve also been brought onto a project as a (remote) research assistant, facilitating my pursuit of recommendation letters. However, I’m concerned over the stereotype I may be fighting against in graduate admissions. I’ve gone to great lengths in showing my professors that I’m serious about my education, and they mentioned that I should heavily consider grad school based on the work I produce. I’m very fortunate that one is writing me a LoR knowing I’m applying to their Ivy League alma mater. If it matters, I’m a History major, so any test or assignment is written and read, not graded by a multiple choice quiz.
How likely am I to face issues with the grad committees, and even prospective advisors? Although these committees aren’t supposed to discriminate, I can’t necessarily blame them if they did. Does anyone have any experience on how to fight this battle, or have tips on how to navigate it? Will I be more likely to experience this with Ivy Leagues? Thank you for your input!

2024.05.20 06:12 EzVox03 Drudging Up America's Past

These institutional racism eruptions have been occurring sporadically for a while now, it's not really that new or shocking. We've seen it before.
It certainly isn't helping matters that enough numbers of less-than-capable fellow citizens insist on electing unquestionably incompetent representatives, often simply based solely on the abbreviated letters (D) or (R) which precedes their names. Contrary to what the mainstream media coverage would have Americans believe, life goes on for average citizens far removed from the pervasive racial disparities projected by news organizations and mainstream journalists.
Certainly, racism will forever remain an issue; however, it is by no means any longer representative of common white Americans – in fact, most common white citizens would outright reject blatant racism, not to project their righteous image; but, out of true disdain for the reminder of a fading, yet shameful history. It would be fair to say that racism, at this point, has been relegated to the outcasts of white America.
White Americans consider abject racism every bit as repulsive as black Americans do. Racism is not an issue of such paramount importance in this country as portrayed by the agenda-driven media.
The media has only made matters worse as they have been either thoughtlessly, negligently, or intentionally remiss in their coverage of perceived racial tensions, crimes of allegedly racial motivations, or the police shootings allegedly motivated by race.
Perhaps many of the uninformed general public would do well by learning from history. I’m sure many would be surprised to learn that early white Americans weren’t innately responsible for inheriting slavery. Many fail to realize slavery was, at the time, a subject of monumental importance and debate.
People fail to understand the considerable strife that existed between abolitionists and slaveholders at the time of the 1st Continental Congress. Abolitionists knew that the institution of slavery did not align with the basic principles of our founding declaration and sought to right the injustice brought to our shores by French, British, and Spanish colonialists.
Most Americans fail to realize slavery has existed since the dawn of mankind and each of us have ancestors, who were, at one point or another, slaves to another race, empire, or another. It wasn’t until the moral evolution sparked by this revolutionary nation that mankind began to understand the injustice where those who came before them had failed.
Mankind cannot wholly understand historical context, but one can imagine being born into a world where slavery had always existed bringing such a remarkably enduring and accepted act of cruelty to an end would require a concerted and united effort in order to unravel it.
It was the birth of this country which gave the spark to that idea. The entire world watched on with immense interest to know the results; results which would ultimately effect change throughout the entire world.
Before the United States drafted the constitution, most anyone who lacked a noble bloodline had no hope for living the life they truly desired; let alone having the power to unite into a political force capable of influencing the governing bodies.
The common man was relegated to whichever social class to which they were born, never able to choose his or her destiny. America changed that. This is a country where every baby born has the tools to live his or her dream. This country provided the right to pursue individual happiness and the potential to earn it based on merit rather than birthright.
The world has always been a very unpleasant place, unpleasantries divided among all of our ancestors at one time or another, at the hands of one race or empire or another.
It seems our collective retrospect is always used to disparage or drudge up negative emotions and sentiments among our people. It’s used to divide us. When we are divided, someone is gaining – that is a guarantee.
Many of the race baiters and professional activists continue to justify their spite on the distant past and the transgressions of American ancestry. It’s time to move past it and acknowledge that it ended solely on account of this nation’s founding principles.
Again, the institution of slavery was never limited to the African race and perpetrated by white Americans; though, the general public seems to have only familiarized themselves with that particular aspect. Perhaps the most important aspect of that fact is that it was within these shores where the abhorrent tradition was finally put to a decisive end through bloody sacrifice like the world had never seen.
They say every man on earth has kings and slaves in his ancestry. However, reflecting on distant past with no causal impact on our current lives to simply finger blame is redundant and asinine; it has no place or relevancy in modern society.
Since its apparent people do desire to drudge up the past and the transgressions of our ancestors, why is it those with the platform to reach out and effect positive change in racial attitudes fail to drudge up the past that demonstrates the important lesson that, while early white Americans were guilty of perpetuating the original sin of slavery brought here; it was also the offspring of those early white Americans who sacrificed and shed blood of an entire generation in order to right that wrong
White Americans were a huge part of the civil rights movement of the 50’s and 60’s, though are seldom mentioned.
Why don’t we celebrate John Brown and his Christ-like sacrifice made to the betterment and freedom of the black race?
Frederick Douglass regarded John Brown as the most inspirational, devoted, and faithful man in America in the fight against slavery. Douglass spoke of John Brown and his bravery until the day he died; it seems the memory of John Brown and any whites who made abolition possible died with Frederick Douglass.
During one of his many presentations to American audiences, Douglass had this to say of John Brown:
“His zeal in the cause of my race was far greater than mine – it was as the burning sun to my taper light – mine was bounded by time, his stretched away to the boundless shores of eternity. I could live for the slave, but he could die for him. The crown of martyrdom is high, far beyond the reach of ordinary mortals, and yet happily no special greatness or superior moral excellence is necessary to discern and, in some measure, appreciate a truly great soul.”
Perhaps those who seek to divide we Americans by means of race might be derailed if we could raise awareness to the positive messages which lie hidden or suppressed in our society’s history; a positive message regarding the remarkable and unprecedented and global moral evolution inspired by this nation’s founding.
It’s time those living with “White guilt” and members of Black Lives Matter consider paying at least a modicum of respect to the millions of black AND white
The sacrifice of John Brown, which is ultimately believed to have sparked the Civil War, was a long and expected time coming. It was abolition for which countles numbers of our American ancestry - of all races and backgrounds - tirelessly worked, fought and died. It's the seemingly little known facts such as these that might serve to give our people back some semblance of American pride.

2024.05.20 05:55 zeven7659 Protestantism conversion to Catholic?

DISCLAIMER: I am new to this. I am not trying to incite violence between secular groups of Christianity. I am simply seeking advice and help from others who have learned in their walk with God. I am curious and want to learn. I have a lot of questions and only want people to reply who have good intentions to help me understand than to talk down on my faith. This is going to be a long post. I thank you in advance for your patience.
So I’ve recently found my way back to God in a way I never have before. I reached an incredibly low point of my life and He was there when nothing else was. While I grew up protestant and going to church I fell out for a long time. I never really read scripture outside of Sunday school when my family would go, and my brother is a non believer entirely now. I struggled with doubt and fell in and out with my faith repeatedly as my life grew more complex. My father died violently and young a few years ago but he was a believer and I questioned how could my God let this happen. I devoted my life to science and medicine and lost sight of my faith in that in combination with all of this. Yet now, I realized my actions had grown so sinful I needed to make a change and I decided to seek God. Now, for the first time in my life I’m reading my Bible, truly, chronologically. My fiancée is supportive of me and the relationship I’m trying to build with Him but I need some guidance.
I’m towards the end of the Books of Moses but I’ve come to a few conclusions I never have before and not all of them are altogether comforting. The Bible teaches us that Jesus is all powerful, loving, and forgiving. Yet what they don’t teach on Sundays that God, in by that, He (Jesus) is also terrifying. He names himself Jealous in Exodus. He is wrathful. He kills for disobedience and I know I have certainly broken more than one of his over 600 laws in the Old Testament. I’ve repented before the Lord, I’ve changed my life, changed my habits and while I struggle to stick to that change I try each and every day and have decided to put forth an effort to build my relationship with God. But I’m still plagued with questions now more than ever, yet now they’re in a sense of I want to understand rather than doubt.
Am I to follow Jesus or know my God? I pray to God in the name of the Son, but who is my relationship with the Son or the Father? Which is God if not both in combination with the Holy Spirit? When I pray which aspect am I praying to? Jesus taught us to pray to our Heavenly Father in his name but I’ve always called myself a follower of Christ. Yet now in my reading I feel as though my relationship should be directed to the Father though I know I can only know him through the Son? I want to have a stronger relationship with Him, but I feel as though I’m failing through sheer ignorance. I want to be hungry for His word, but I feel lesser that I’m almost burnt out or feeling desperate from the OT. I try to pray but I don’t think I’m very good at it and never know what to say aside from the Lord’s Prayer.
But now with all of this I’m learning that the Catholic Church is the church left behind in Jesus’ wake so should I not be a Catholic if I’m truly to follow Scripture to the letter? But the Bible also doesn’t mention intercession with reverence to saints? I thought I was only ever to pray to God and anything else was heresy? Or for another example, if I repent to the Lord why should I need to go to confession to do so? Catholicism teaches to have a relationship with Mary but shouldn’t that be reserved for Jesus Christ? My heart tells me I should be a Catholic based on what I’ve read but so many practices seem contradictory to how I was raised im not sure anymore.
I understand at the end of the day that my faith is to trust and believe that Jesus Christ is my lord and savior, that through him and him alone is the way the truth and the life and that without him I am nothing. But I guess my question is how do I know which denomination to pick? There are many contemporary practices of some Protestant churches that seem to contradict the Bible in some ways but there are also Catholic teachings that seem foreign or strange to me. Purgatory? Saint worship seems almost like pseudo idolatry? The pope being infallible and a line to the disciples ? I’m confused and right now altogether frightened by the God I am coming to know in my study and want to do my best to Follow his word but don’t know how best to do so.
I just want to do the right thing and feel as though these questions are best suited for a Priest but I’m Not sure how to have that conversation with one or how to even set up a time to discuss all of this.
Thank you for taking the time to read all of this, for your patience with me and my questions, your sincerity, and your input.
May God bless you.

2024.05.20 05:46 ConferenceUpper7126 CHINE IS REMOVING MY POST

I got my settlement from a car crash deposited into my chime checking account. I noticed multiple transactions being made on my account. Once I noticed these unauthorized transactions I called chime customer service and informed them that I was not making them. At that time I canceled my debit card and filed 2 disputes. At this time only these 2 transactions were done pending. I received a email stating that my claims were denied. Then I filed an appeal and it was also denied. One ALL off these unauthorized transactions were done pending and settled I called chime and filed the additional disputes. It took them less than 4 hours to come back with a decision of denied for the second time. This time they were investigating 177 transactions that were unauthorized.2 debit cards have been replaced since this has happened. I’m also on the verge of being evicted because I can’t pay my bills. As I stated before I have been off work for 3 months with no income coming in. I have not even been able to get the opportunity to receive a provisional credit because of how fast the denial comes. I have submitted several documents regarding my claims. Some of the documentation includes a letter from my employer and a letter from the hospital stating that I have been off/out of work. I also send a copy of my police report with the date of my car crash. I was also told that I could send any pictures text messages or anything g of the sort to prove that I was at home at the time of some transactions and I provided 2 pictures from my camera roll with the time and location on them. I also reached out to one of the merchants and received written confirmation that I in fact do not have an account with them. I also send a copy of my 3 days eviction notice. With chime simply denying my claims instantly I have not been successful at receiving any help or even a provisional credit while my case is being investigated causing my landlord to issue and eviction notice

2024.05.20 05:39 Ok-Bug9050 I don’t have anyone I can really talk to about this

I hope it’s okay to post this here. Maybe someone can give me advice.
Content warning: death/grief, friendship struggles
I lost my mother in law last year. It was extremely unexpected. Saw her one night, she was gone by the morning. Out of everything I have ever experienced (like the childhood abuse & neglect that gave me CPTSD, losing her was the single worst thing to happen to me or my family.
The next few days, I was texting my cousin about it. She was one of my best friends at the time.. she said something a little strange. “Is it hard to be there for him (my husband)? Are you just numb? Or is it hard to feel empathy for him?” I truly don’t understand what she meant. I said no, it has been devastating for me. My MIL was such a big part of our lives, I saw her M-F and sometimes on the weekends…
She left me on read for 2 days. I took it very personally. She lost both her parents, at separate times but within a few years of each other. I figured she’d understand how badly I would need support. Just a person to text… she was out of state so I didn’t expect her to drop by or anything. Just text me… I blocked her. I needed space and I decided to isolate and just be there for my husband. I unblocked her 7 days later and never heard anything since. It’s almost been a year now.
Since then, I’ve grown some. I can rationalize that maybe she was going through something too. But I am still hurt.
I messaged her the other day on Facebook to congratulate her on getting married because I no longer have her number. She never replied. She posted about “a family member”, who I assume is me and how she felt abandoned by someone who said they never would abandon her. And she doesn’t know if she should reply and repair the relationship and “set boundaries” or move on.
I feel like I want to tell her how I feel, and tell her I don’t really want a relationship because it doesn’t seem like she feels she did anything wrong. And just move on. I would never be able to be super close again so what’s the point?
I genuinely am so happy that she seems so happy. But her (often oversharing, public) social media never gave any hint that my absence bothered her.
I want to write a letter or something and just be done with it.
