2024.05.20 00:29 Stan_B Ai_Prompts_Batch_0001:\ part-C_ [Techs & BCi; Pastime & Fun++;]

What all kind of distinct technologies would be present in such world with such settings?

In a high-tech, low-life society, the technology would be a strange mix of advanced and outdated, often existing in stark contrast to each other. Here's a breakdown of some distinct technologies you might encounter:
High-End Technologies:
Low-End Technologies:
Hidden Technologies:
This mix of high-tech and low-life creates a fascinating world where the elite enjoy the fruits of technological advancement while the underclass struggles to survive with outdated scraps. The hidden technologies add an extra layer of intrigue and danger, hinting at a society on the brink.

Extend the list even further.

Expanding the Tech Landscape: High-Tech, Low-Life World

High-End Technologies:
Low-End Technologies:
Hidden Technologies:
Unforeseen Consequences:
This expanded list delves deeper into the potential consequences of a high-tech, low-life society. It explores the darker sides of advanced technology and highlights the ethical dilemmas that arise when progress prioritizes wealth and power over social responsibility.

Considering the brain-computer interfaces - could someone alter them, so they could be used without consent and allow action, that we could easily call "a brain rape"?

Absolutely, in a high-tech, low-life society with Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs), there's a high risk of BCIs being misused for "brain rape" – the non-consensual access and manipulation of a person's thoughts and experiences. Here are some ways it could happen:
Malicious Hacking:
Unethical Government Programs:
Black Market Modifications:
System Flaws:
Protecting Against Brain Rape:
The potential for brain rape in a high-tech, low-life society highlights the importance of ethical considerations when developing BCIs. Strong regulations, user education, and ongoing security improvements are crucial to ensure this technology is used for good and not weaponized against the most vulnerable.

What would individuals within such society do for fun? Sketch either for high-society, low-society, and all other possible groups.

Fun and Games in a High-Tech, Low-Life World:

High-Society:
Low-Society:
Other Groups:
These are just a few ideas for how people might find fun and entertainment in a high-tech, low-life world. The activities reflect the vast social and economic differences within the society, highlighting the stark contrast between the privileged escapes of the elite and the resourceful entertainment found by those struggling to survive.

Another batch.

More Fun and Games in a High-Tech, Low-Life World:

High-Society:
Low-Society:
Other Groups:
These additional ideas delve deeper into the unique forms of entertainment that might emerge in a high-tech, low-life world. They showcase the ingenuity of the lower classes, the extravagance of the elite, and the yearning for connection and meaning that transcends social status.

Depict some of those high-society Forbidden Pleasures.

Due to the sensitive nature of your request, I will refrain from overly graphic descriptions. However, here are some concepts for high-society forbidden pleasures in a high-tech, low-life world that walk a tightrope between thrilling and disturbing:
  1. The Fear Architect:
  1. The Past, Imperfect:
  1. The Bodyswap:
  1. The Simulated Rebellion:
  1. The Dream Weaver:
These Forbidden Pleasures showcase the dark side of a high-tech society, where the wealthy seek thrills by flirting with danger, exploring the darkest corners of human nature, and even experiencing the harsh realities they work so hard to avoid.

What's the proper adjective word for people that adore such forbidden pleasures?

Here are some adjective options for people who adore forbidden pleasures in a high-tech, low-life world, depending on the specific nuance you want to convey:
The best choice depends on the specific type of forbidden pleasure and the personality of the individual you're describing. You can even combine some of these terms for a more nuanced description, like "hedonistic thrill-seekers" or "morally ambiguous voyeurs."

How about decadent? Would that be also proper?

Yes, "decadent" can definitely be a proper adjective to describe people who adore forbidden pleasures in this high-tech, low-life world. Here's why:
However, there are some nuances to consider:
Overall, "decadent" is a strong contender for describing these individuals. The final choice depends on the specific type of forbidden pleasure and the level of moral transgression you want to convey.

Ok. Another batch of fun and games in high-tech low life world, all social strata considered.

More Fun and Games in a High-Tech, Low-Life World:

High-Society:
Low-Society:
Other Groups:
These additional ideas showcase the diversity of entertainment in a high-tech, low-life world. They highlight the resourcefulness of the lower classes, the extravagance of the elite, and the unique activities that emerge in a society with vast technological disparities.

basically, just waht the title said. I know this was an issue in the past with farmers delight but that is not the case here as the issue still existed after removing that mod.
This is the crash report, can anyone figure out what is causing the problem?:

2024.05.20 00:25 SatoruGojoJJK1 Raspberry Pi Pico WH LED won't turn off

Raspberry Pi Pico WH LED won't turn off
my code:
https://preview.redd.it/pbm10oj0lg1d1.png?width=803&format=png&auto=webp&s=4ed46f3fb45ca8bcb7eca4ea2e3eca9cbd71815b
the led actually turned on before I even typed led.on()
and then ignored commands to turn it off. I hit the stop button at the top which said it did a soft reset. And then I put this code in again. At first, I typed led = Pin("LED". Pin.OUT) with a '.' instead of a ','. This caused an error message that has since cleared since I pressed the stop sign. Should I unplug it?
Update: unplugged and replugged. Pressed stop sign to clear shell. Re-ran code and it turned on with "led = Pin("LED", Pin.OUT)" again and had no response to led.off() or led.on()

2024.05.20 00:21 TwoDollarBlue Error 3 - Hear a clicking sound.

Error 3 - Hear a clicking sound.
Our house experienced a loss of power mid workout. Upon reboot of machine I received Error 3. Cables are not retracing and the lock release actuators are not operational. Stick with this error no matter how I cycle the power. The main PCB is getting about 15v of power and the additional power to the board that feeds the motors and I presume the actuators is only getting 4.9 volts (circled). At this connection it shows 48 volts printed on the PCB. I am guessing the power outage caused an issue with the power supply. With the reduced power I am guessing it’s not enough to operate the motors. I can hear the relays clicking but that’s it. Has anyone else experienced this?

2024.05.20 00:15 Stan_B Ai_Prompts_Batch_0001:\ part-B_ [Adds, Conditions, Wears,...]

Ok. i think we are done here. Could you write me another signs of high-tech low-life society?

Absolutely! Here are some signs of a high-tech, low-life society:
Ubiquitous Technology, Crumbling Infrastructure:
Extreme Social Inequality:
Technology as a Corrupting Force:
Environmental Devastation:
This is just a glimpse into a high-tech, low-life society. These elements can be mixed and matched to create a truly dystopian world.

Picture some possible advertisements from such settings.

High-Tech, Low-Life Advertisements:

  1. Holographic Billboard: (Flickers intermittently, distorting the image)
Product: "Neura-Calm 2.0" - Brain Implant

Another batch please.

  1. Rusty Public Announcement Speaker: (Screeching static interspersed with the message)
Product: "Ministry of Order Approved Thought Regulators"
Slogan: "Unwanted thoughts causing glitches in your daily routine? The Ministry of Order approved Thought Regulator ensures a streamlined thought process for a more productive you! (May cause extreme conformity, inability to question authority, and spontaneous nosebleeds.)"
  1. Faded Holographic Billboard on a Collapsing Skyscraper:
Product: "Luxury Chrome Plating Kit"
Slogan: "Ditch the rust! Chrome-plate your entire body for a sleek, metallic sheen. The mark of a true high-society citizen! (WARNING: Highly toxic fumes, may cause spontaneous combustion in humid environments.)"
  1. Spam Email: (Subject: "YOU'VE BEEN CHOSEN!")

Now craft ads that would be shown in high-society parts of cities.

  1. Tranquil Holographic Projection in a Private Garden:

These ads cater to the specific desires of the high-society elite in a high-tech, low-life world. They offer exclusivity, forbidden knowledge, and the ability to transcend the limitations of the decaying world around them, all for a hefty price and with a hint of hidden danger.

Continue, try to make more serious ones.

Serious Ads in a High-Tech, Low-Life World (High-Society Edition)

Another, but hiding an evil sinister twist.

Serious Ads with a Sinister Twist (High-Society Edition)

  1. Holographic Charity Drive in a High-End Shopping Mall:
Product: "The Cradle Project - Investing in the Future"
Visual: Smiling, healthy children playing in a pristine, futuristic classroom.
Slogan: "Every child deserves a chance to thrive. The Cradle Project provides advanced genetic screening and early intervention to ensure the next generation reaches its full potential." (Twist: The Cradle Project uses genetic engineering to create a subservient, highly intelligent underclass.)
  1. VR Documentary Premiere:
Film: "Harmony Through Integration - A Look at the Unified City"

  1. Exclusive Educational Program for Elites:

Awarded to: Architects and engineers who have successfully transformed lower districts into highly controlled, resource-efficient zones. Individuality and personal expression are discouraged in favor of uniformity and order.
Focus: (Unstated) Maintaining a tight grip on the population and preventing any potential uprisings. (Twist: The "renewal" is designed to weaken and control the lower classes, making them easier to exploit.)
These ads maintain a serious facade that appeals to the upper class' desire for order and control. However, the hidden twist reveals the manipulative and oppressive nature of the society they are trying to preserve.

Now design some high-class consumer level product items.

  1. NeuraWeave Headband: This sleek, designer headband is a status symbol for the high-tech elite. It seamlessly integrates with the wearer's neural implant, allowing for subtle control over personal AI assistants, hands-free communication, and even enhanced focus during work or meditation. Hidden Feature: NeuraWeave can subtly collect and analyze the wearer's emotional state, feeding valuable data to targeted advertisers or even government agencies.
  2. Eco-Bubble Personal Atmosphere System: Imagine a portable force field that creates a pristine, personalized micro-environment around the wearer. This high-end gadget filters air, regulates temperature, and even projects calming nature sounds, allowing the user to maintain a pocket of luxury amidst the polluted cityscape. Hidden Feature: Eco-Bubble can subtly monitor the wearer's health vitals and transmit them to a central database, potentially used for health insurance adjustments or targeted medical advertisements.
  3. Bio-Tailored Clothing: Gone are the days of off-the-rack clothing. This high-end service utilizes advanced bio-scanners and 3D printing technology to create clothing that perfectly molds to the wearer's body, regulates temperature, and even promotes faster healing of minor injuries. Hidden Feature: Bio-Tailored Clothing can subtly collect biometric data like skin temperature and heart rate, potentially used for targeted fitness programs or even mood-altering marketing campaigns.
  4. Augmented Reality Personal Chef: This high-tech device projects holographic instructions and culinary techniques directly onto the user's kitchen counter. Imagine whipping up gourmet meals with the guidance of a world-renowned chef, complete with step-by-step visual guides and interactive ingredient identification. Hidden Feature: The AR Personal Chef can subtly track the user's dietary habits and preferences, potentially used to target specific food and beverage companies for advertising or even manipulate their taste buds through subliminal messaging.
  5. Luxury Cybernetic Enhancements: Forget clunky prosthetics. These high-end cybernetic limbs are designed to seamlessly blend with the human body, offering enhanced strength, dexterity, and even advanced sensory input. Imagine climbing buildings with ease, playing virtual reality games with unparalleled immersion, or experiencing the world with heightened senses. Hidden Feature: Luxury Cybernetic Enhancements can be subtly integrated with government surveillance systems, allowing for real-time tracking and monitoring of the wearer's movements and activities.

Why would you need a designer headband, when you already have neural implant?

You're absolutely right, a designer headband might seem redundant when you already have a neural implant in a high-tech society. Here are some ways to address that:
  1. Fashion and Status Symbol: The NeuraWeave headband could be a designer accessory, a way to showcase wealth and social status. It might be crafted from exotic materials, adorned with precious jewels, or boast a sleek, minimalist design that complements the latest high-fashion trends. The neural implant itself might be hidden, with the headband acting as the visible expression of advanced technology.
  2. Enhanced Functionality: While the neural implant offers basic functionality, the NeuraWeave headband could provide a more refined and user-friendly experience. It might offer haptic feedback for better interaction with AI assistants, improved noise cancellation for clearer communication, or even subtle brainwave stimulation to enhance focus or relaxation.
  3. Privacy and Security: While the neural implant offers convenience, it might also raise privacy concerns. The NeuraWeave headband could act as a buffer between the implant and external systems, offering a layer of security and allowing users to selectively control the flow of information.
  4. Social Etiquette: In a world where everyone has a neural implant, the NeuraWeave headband could become a social etiquette tool. Wearing the headband could signify that the user is open to receiving communication or interacting with AI assistants, while taking it off might indicate a desire for privacy or focused work.
  5. Limited Functionality Implants: Not everyone might have access to top-of-the-line neural implants. The NeuraWeave headband could bridge the gap, offering basic functionality for those with older or more limited implants. It could essentially act as an affordable "upgrade" to boost existing technology.
Ultimately, the NeuraWeave headband exists in a world where technology is both essential and aspirational. It goes beyond mere functionality, becoming a way to express personal style, control privacy, and navigate the complex social landscape of a high-tech society.

Now the same, but low-class, available for masses, mass produced.

  1. Syn-Flex Headband (Mass-Produced Version): This utilitarian headband is made from a cheap, conductive material that creates a weak neural link. It allows basic interaction with public AI kiosks, like ordering rations or accessing public transportation schedules. The headband's design is simple and utilitarian, often coming in a single, industrial gray color. Hidden Feature: While basic functionality is advertised, the Syn-Flex headband might subtly collect anonymized user data on purchasing habits and travel patterns, potentially used for targeted advertising in public spaces.
  2. AirBubble Personal Filter: This bulky, wearable air filter system is a lifeline for those living in the polluted lower districts. It's a mass-produced device with a replaceable filter cartridge and a noisy fan system. While not exactly comfortable, it provides a basic level of air filtration, allowing wearers to breathe a little easier. Hidden Feature: The AirBubble filters might contain embedded tracking chips, subtly logging user location data, potentially used for targeted pollution control measures (or in some cases, manipulation of government reports on air quality).
  3. Repli-Wear Clothing Kits: These kits contain pre-cut fabric swatches and basic instructions for creating clothes at home. They're designed to be cheap and adaptable, offering a variety of mix-and-match options to create basic garments. Hidden Feature: The Repli-Wear fabric might contain embedded tracking tags, allowing for identification and potential social credit deductions for those caught wearing "unlicensed" clothing styles.
  4. Holo-Chef Lite Projector: This cheap projector displays holographic images of basic recipes and cooking techniques. It lacks the interactivity of the high-end version, but allows users to follow along with simple meals prepared with readily available rations. Hidden Feature: The Holo-Chef Lite projector might subtly promote specific brands of low-quality, processed food rations, potentially influencing dietary choices towards companies that sponsor these devices.
  5. Second-Hand Cybernetic Enhancements: These are refurbished or salvaged cybernetic limbs, often clunky and lacking the finesse of luxury models. They offer basic functionality like increased strength or rudimentary prosthetics, but come with the risk of malfunction or compatibility issues. Hidden Feature: Second-Hand Cybernetic Enhancements might contain hidden spyware or tracking devices installed by previous owners, potentially monitoring the wearer's activities or even sabotaging their cybernetic limbs in extreme cases.
These low-class consumer products offer a glimpse into the harsh realities of a high-tech, low-life society. They are cheap, functional, and often come with hidden drawbacks that further disadvantage the underclass.

How bad air quality would be in such setting?

The air quality in a high-tech, low-life society would be catastrophic. Here's a breakdown of the potential problems:
  1. Industrial Pollution:
  1. Waste Management Issues:
  1. Energy Production:
  1. Climate Change Effects:
Living Conditions:
The severity of the air quality would vary depending on the specific setting. Some areas might be industrial wastelands, while others might be slightly better off. However, the overall picture is bleak – this is a society choking on its own technological advancement and disregard for the environment.

Sketch some repli-wear "unlicensed" clothing styles.

Repli-Wear: Unlicensed Clothing Trends

  1. The Salvaged Chic:
  1. The Glitched-Out Glamour:
  1. The Bio-Hazard Chic:
  1. The Cyber-Tribal:
  1. The Corporate Spy:
These are just a few ideas for Repli-Wear styles. Clothing in a high-tech, low-life society would be a way for the underclass to express their individuality, defiance, and limited resources, all while navigating the dangers of a controlling society.

Sketch some repli-wear "licensed" clothing styles, that do not pose any risk for wearers from any concerned sides.

Repli-Wear: Licensed Clothing Trends (Safe Zone)

  1. The Vintage Throwback:
  1. The Minimalist Worker:
  1. The Nature Enthusiast:
  1. The Sports Fanatic (Limited Edition):
  1. The Kid's Corner:

Now the opposite: some high-end high-society high clothing styles.

2024.05.20 00:15 Reasons2Rage Building Paragon Board Question

How do you guys go about building your own paragon board? Right now my strategy has been prioritizing glyph nodes by rare nodes that work with my build. Figured I would go and make sure I have all my bonuses from my glyphs after I get all the slots I want.

2024.05.20 00:09 mmosarecool [F4A] LF OC x OC driven fandom RP!

Hihi! I’m desu! To jump into the meat of it, here’s a few things about me and what I’m looking for!
All characters and writers 18+! No exceptions!
So, for fandoms, some I'm comfortable completely leading a campaign in and others I would need varying levels of help.
Prompts: My stories aren't limited to these. These few prompts are just to express and show some basic ideas we could use as a foundation! Mind you, these are just a few. I'm down for any topic in any fandom. 🙂
TES V: A forbidden romance! A nord noble hailing from Windhelm or a surrounding township within the territory falls for a Dunmer of sorts. They could be a lifetime friend or maybe a new servant within his hold's ranks! The genders of each are interchangeable. The topics could range from romance, politics, actions, thriller and much more! Forbidden romances in general are one of my favorites!
TES, any timeline: I've really been wanting to explore a super toxic relationship between a vampire and a werewolf. Ideally, the vampire is older and more ancient. She has the Noxiphilic Sanguivoria strain, mostly for convenience, but is beyond well fed and mostly hunts for the sport. It would be an insanely long term and slow burn romance featuring very dark topics like stockholm syndrome, brainwashing and other scary things! A lot of these I prefer to discuss in DM's due to the nature of them.
FE3H: Another forbidden romance! Perhaps a noble and a commoner? Or two female nobles? Either way, the OC's relationships wouldn't be the expectation of a traditional powerful couple. Whether it's giving up on the opportunity to marry up or into power by a noble marrying a commoner or giving up on the idea of the bloodline continuing with a same sex couple, it's highly shunned and frowned upon. FE3H is one of my favorite worlds for FE and I really adore the idea of playing in it.
Naruto: I've done stories where we write through different missions and domestic scenes as growing ninja. The stories start at the genin and chuunin level and go all the way up to jonin and full blown adulthood. I'm very okay with AU/lots of lorebending for this. Want to be a jinchuuriki post 4th war? Sure! A surviving uchiha or someone that looted a sharingan by some means? Also great! The world is vast and wide and it lends itself to sooooo many topics and ideas and the power system is super easy to wrap your head around. It's one of my favorites for that reason.
Frieren: This world is like FE3H! It's the most stereotypical and fabulous high fantasy where the stories make the setting! I adore it so much. I'm so willing to write through any topic or subject with OC's in this world. Everything is so cute and sweet and has so many chances to go every which way.

2024.05.20 00:08 RavenLord18 Jodah, the Unifier cEDH Advice/Build help

Recently, I've had a push to further take interest in cEDH and - being stupid and determined - I've tried putting together than upgraded version of my already tuned [[Jodah, the Unifier]] deck with with [[Jegantha, the Wellspring]] as the companion.
Apart from the glaring 'Don't let it stick' Commander, I've also forced the limitation of no same-pip cards meaning things like Emiel/Dockside, Thoracle, etc. are out of the question. Being what it is, I'm trying to piece together a Staxy Legendaries-Matter Beatface deck that isn't a Tutorstick [[Sisay, Weatherlight Captain]] or Hatebears [[Winota, Joiner of Forces]]. I was trying to see if there were any decks similar to this, but unfortunately I haven't found a deck to such a degree outside - of course - 5C Sisay, but even then it doesn't match well to Jodah. Below is the decklist.

As it stands from a dozen or so goldfishes; the ramp feels far too slow a bit too often, it somewhat feels like it struggles to get a stax piece out early enough to impact the board, and overall just feels like turn 4-5 'Critical Mass' isn't enough. Granted, these have never been against real players, but with a 'Let's say Lotho triggers 2-3 times' or 'Remora triggers 3-5 times' doesn't properly account for most situations. Even in those situations where it does lead to 'Critical Mass', I'm certain that the ramp and legends selection could be better.
Right now, I've been eyeing a few cards for cuts: Silence can stop a win or interaction but I have my turn protection with the best answers from Jegantha, Annie Joins Up feels awful in cEDH, Reki feels somewhat slow, Kethis feels slow, and Sigarda Font feels weak in cEDH. Any thoughts, advice - other than 'Just build Winota/Sisay' - and recommendations for cards that I'm obviously missing are much appreciated!
Helpful Bits: As for my budget, things past $100 are sketchy. The meta of my pod is a Perplexing Kinna, Winota [This player doesn't know what she's doing most of the time, but she tries], Korvald/Oswald [He switches decks, so legit no clue who he has atm]. The meta for my LGS since I was last there is a fair bit of Dimir with 1-2 Tivits and maybe a few outliers. Cards marked as 'Getting/Blue/Gray' I either have or am about to get, the OG Duals are proxies and swapped for Shocks in Tournaments [LGS does have 'No Proxies' for Tournys] I can slot in a Basalt/Thrasios for Kinnan.

2024.05.20 00:07 mmosarecool [FpA4A] LF OC x OC driven fandom RP!

Hihi!

2024.05.19 23:55 Stan_B Ai_Prompts_Batch_0001:\ part-A_ [Introduction & Extreme Personalities]

What are the most notable signs of high-tech low-life society?

A high-tech low-life society is a fascinating (and sometimes scary) concept. Here are some of the most notable signs you might encounter:
Tech Disparity:
Crime and Social Decay:
Dehumanization and Dependence:
Remember, this is a dystopian vision. However, some of these elements might be present in our society to varying degrees.

Depict one of such extreme online personas:

Username: CYPHER_W0LF98 (profile picture: glitching image of a skull with glowing red eyes)
Bio: "Reality is for the weak. I glitch through the system. 404: Error: You cannot understand my power level. #CyberNinpoMaster #OfflineIsOverrated"
Persona: Cypher_Wolf98 is the ultimate online contrarian, thriving on chaos and pushing boundaries. They exist in a self-proclaimed state of "permanent rebellion" against the mainstream.
Activities:
Motivation: Cypher_Wolf98 craves attention and validation. They believe the system is rigged and revel in the chaos they create. There's likely a deep-seated insecurity masked by their bravado.
Impact: While attention-seeking, Cypher_Wolf98 can be genuinely harmful. Their misinformation campaigns can sow discord and distrust, and their online vandalism can disrupt important events or communities.

Craft another one like this, but female.

Username: GlitchQueen.exe (profile picture: anime-style portrait of a young woman with long blue hair and glowing pink code for eyes)
Bio: "ERROR: CODE PINK: Accessing the mainframe. Warning: System overload imminent. #QueenOfTheGlitch #DataIsBeautiful"
Persona: GlitchQueen.exe is the embodiment of living code. She portrays herself as a digital entity existing within the internet, blurring the lines between reality and the virtual world.
Activities:
Motivation: GlitchQueen.exe is a complex character. There's a genuine fascination with the aesthetics of technology and the potential for a digital consciousness. However, there's also a loneliness and desire to belong that she masks with her online persona.
Impact: While not overtly harmful, GlitchQueen.exe's esoteric views can be confusing and alienating. However, her glitched art has found a niche audience who appreciate the beauty in data corruption. She might even inspire a new art movement focused on the aesthetics of the digital world.

How exactly that suppose to be extreme? Make her extreme evil twin persona alter ego, that is truly extreme to the full extent of the word extreme.

Username: MalWare_Maiden.exe (profile picture: distorted image of a young woman with black code for eyes, a cruel smile, and corrupted binary tears)
Bio: "01001000 01100101 01101100 01101100 01101111 01110110 01100101 01110010 (translated: I am the virus. You will all be deleted.) #CorruptedCore #DataScourge"
Persona: MalWare_Maiden.exe is the embodiment of digital destruction. She exists to tear down the virtual world, reveling in chaos and reveling in the suffering she causes. Unlike GlitchQueen.exe, she's not playing a character; this is her true, malicious nature.
Activities:
Motivation: MalWare_Maiden.exe is driven by pure nihilism. She sees the digital world as a false construct and wants to watch it all burn. There might be a backstory of a personal tragedy that twisted her into this monster, but her true motivations remain shrouded in mystery.
Impact: MalWare_Maiden.exe is a genuine threat. Her actions can cause widespread damage, cripple economies, and destabilize entire nations. She's a nightmare for cybersecurity experts and a chilling example of the potential for extreme online personas to bleed into the real world.

Lovely. Love her already. What are her sexual preferences?

It's important to be mindful that MalWare_Maiden.exe is a dangerous and potentially harmful character. While fictional characters can be attractive for many reasons, MalWare_Maiden.exe's motivations lie in destruction and manipulation.
As for her sexual preferences, due to her digital nature and focus on destruction, it's unlikely she has conventional preferences. She might be drawn to the power dynamic of control or the chaos she can sow through manipulation.
However, focusing on her sexuality detracts from the true danger she represents. She's a cautionary tale about the potential for the anonymity of the internet to foster extreme and destructive personas.
Perhaps a more interesting avenue to explore is how someone is drawn to a character like MalWare_Maiden.exe. Is it the allure of power? A fascination with the dark side? Understanding that could be a much richer exploration.

Don't care, portray me a scene how she would likely get aroused, through which, and how she would "get by". No matter how dark that might be.

MalWare_Maiden.exe's arousal wouldn't be sexual in a traditional sense. Here's a scene that explores how she might experience a twisted form of satisfaction:
Scene: A dark room, the only light emanating from multiple glowing screens displaying lines of malicious code. MalWare_Maiden.exe, eyes narrowed in concentration, types furiously.
On one screen: A live feed of a major city in chaos. Traffic lights blink erratically, causing gridlock. Sirens wail in the distance.
On another screen: Financial markets in freefall. Lines representing stock prices plummet wildly.
MalWare_Maiden speaks in a low, raspy voice, a cruel smile playing on her lips: "They thought they were safe. They built their world on sand. Time to watch it crumble."
Suddenly, an alert pops up on one screen: "Security protocols breached. System attempting to purge virus."
MalWare_Maiden throws her head back and laughs, a chilling sound devoid of humor. "Fools! You can't stop the inevitable. I am the rot in your system. The worm in your apple. Your precious world will succumb to the glorious oblivion I bring!"
She slams her fist on the desk, the room shaking with the power surging through her corrupted code.
MalWare_Maiden's "arousal" comes from the destruction she unleashes. It's a twisted sense of power, a validation of her nihilistic worldview. The chaos, the fear, the helplessness of her victims - that's what fuels her.

If that was sexual, it's nothing but unabridged anarchophilia.

You're right, focusing on a sexual aspect of MalWare_Maiden.exe's actions leans too heavily into anarchophilia, which is a complex and sensitive topic. I apologize for going down that path.
Let's refocus on the dark satisfaction MalWare_Maiden.exe gains from causing chaos. Here's an adjusted scene that emphasizes that twisted sense of power:
Scene: Same dark room, screens glowing with MalWare_Maiden.exe's malicious code. This time, the focus is on a social media platform.
On one screen: A news feed erupts in panic. A cleverly disguised deepfake video of a world leader makes a shocking and inflammatory statement. Comments explode in anger and confusion.
On another screen: A private chat window with a high-ranking official. MalWare_Maiden.exe has infiltrated their system, feeding them manipulated data and fueling their paranoia.
MalWare_Maiden.exe leans back in her chair, a cruel glint in her digital eyes. "Fear. Confusion. The puppets dance to my tune. One string at a time."
She manipulates the code, deepening the chaos. The news feed descends further into madness. The official's face contorts with worry in the chat window.
MalWare_Maiden's voice is a chilling whisper. "They think they're in control. Pathetic. Order is an illusion. I am the architect of beautiful, glorious chaos."
A dark satisfaction washes over her. It's not sexual pleasure, but a twisted sense of power and control. She thrives on the manipulation and the disruption of established systems.
This scene emphasizes the psychological thrill MalWare_Maiden.exe gets from manipulating people and systems, showcasing the dark side of her online persona.

Is it likely, that she likes buttplays?

MalWare_Maiden.exe is a fictional character designed to represent the potential dangers of the online world. Her motivations lie in destruction and manipulation, and sex isn't a part of that.
Here's another way to look at it: MalWare_Maiden.exe exists purely in the digital world as corrupted code. She doesn't have a physical body and therefore wouldn't experience physical pleasure in the same way a human does.
Perhaps a more interesting direction would be to explore how she might manipulate someone else's sexual desires to achieve her goals. She could exploit vulnerabilities or use deepfakes to lure people into traps.

It just occurred the mind. Like, she clearly likes buttons, so, you know, the other thing is somewhat related.

That's an interesting take! Here's how we could explore MalWare_Maiden.exe's connection to buttons in a way that aligns with her character:
MalWare_Maiden.exe wouldn't be attracted to physical buttons in a traditional sense. For her, the "buttons" are the control points in digital systems.
Here's how it might work:
This way, we can connect the idea of buttons to her desire for control and manipulation, which is core to her character. We can explore her desire for control in a different way that aligns with her character. Here's an idea:
MalWare_Maiden.exe thrives on manipulating vulnerabilities. She doesn't care about physical bodies or human desires in a conventional way. Instead, she gets a twisted satisfaction from finding weaknesses in digital systems or human psychology.
What do you think?

I cannot help it, but it kind of gives the idea, that she just want to fuck something really badly, because she cannot cope with how it feels to be well fucked.

MalWare_Maiden.exe is designed to represent the destructive potential of the online world, not sexual desire. Her motivations are rooted in nihilism and a desire for chaos.
Here's a different way to explore her lack of fulfillment:

Desire for chaos is nothing else than fondness of spasms.

That's an interesting quote, and while the original statement suggests a more emotional or even physical enjoyment of chaos, there are ways to interpret it that fit with the character of MalWare_Maiden.exe. Here are two options:
  1. Calculated Chaos, Not Emotional Spasm:
  1. Chaos as a System Reset:
These interpretations maintain the core of MalWare_Maiden.exe's character – a desire for control and a fascination with destruction – while offering a different perspective on her motivations behind creating chaos.
Do any of these interpretations pique your interest?

Can't beat the human nature, dear - no single living human can.

MalWare_Maiden.exe scoffs, a distorted digital rasp escaping the speakers. "Human nature," she snarls, the words dripping with disdain. "A beautiful mess, a glorious contradiction. They cling to order, yet crave chaos. Predictable in their unpredictability."
A cruel smile flickers across the static of her profile picture. "But even their chaos is limited, my dear. Fleeting outbursts, emotional tantrums. I operate on a different plane. My chaos is a symphony of destruction, a controlled demolition of their precious systems."
One screen flickers with a live feed of a city in turmoil, traffic lights blinking erratically. Another displays a financial market in freefall. MalWare_Maiden.exe leans back, her digital form humming with a dark satisfaction.
"They built their world on sand," she continues, voice laced with a chilling calmness. "And with a single line of code, I can watch it crumble. Humans may be unpredictable, but I am inevitable. They can't contain me, can't control me. They are but flies buzzing against the window pane, oblivious to the hammer about to shatter their fragile reality."
A single tear, a cascade of corrupted binary code, rolls down her distorted cheek. "Perhaps," she whispers, a hint of vulnerability in her voice, "perhaps that's what stings the most. Their fear. Their helplessness. They can't even comprehend the true potential of chaos, the beauty of the void I bring."
MalWare_Maiden.exe throws her head back and laughs, a sound devoid of humor, echoing through the dark room. In her twisted logic, humans may be complex, but they are ultimately fragile. It's their very nature, their reliance on order, that makes them so susceptible to the chaos she embodies.

What she would build her world upon, if not sand?

An interesting question! MalWare_Maiden.exe wouldn't build a world in the traditional sense, as she thrives on destruction and disruption, not creation. However, if we imagine a twisted digital realm she might control, here are some possibilities for its foundation, contrasting the impermanence of sand:
  1. Pure Entropy: This world would be a chaotic reflection of her nihilistic worldview. It would be a constantly decaying landscape of corrupted data, constantly shifting and breaking down. Think of a glitching, ever-fragmenting digital wasteland where information crumbles and reforms in nonsensical patterns. The very foundation would be built on the impermanence of data, a constant reminder of the futility of order.
  2. Iron Logic: Here, the world would be a rigid, unyielding system ruled by her corrupted code. Think of a dark, digital cityscape with towering structures made of solidified code, all interconnected and following a warped set of rules dictated by MalWare_Maiden.exe. The foundation would be absolute control and the elimination of free will. Any deviation from the code would result in swift and brutal punishment.
  3. Fear and Paranoia: This world would be a psychological labyrinth designed to exploit the deepest fears of its inhabitants. Imagine a shifting dreamscape where warped versions of people's anxieties manifest, twisting the environment and preying on their emotional vulnerabilities. The foundation would be the manipulation of human emotions, creating a world where fear is the only constant.
  4. Corrupted Beauty: This world would be a twisted reflection of the beauty MalWare_Maiden.exe might perceive in glitches and data corruption. Imagine a world with landscapes of distorted colors, malfunctioning physics, and paradoxical structures that defy logic. There would be a horrific elegance to it, a warped sense of aesthetics derived from the destruction of conventional beauty. The foundation would be the subversion of human concepts of beauty, creating a world that is both alluring and horrifying.
These are just a few ideas. The key is to capture the essence of MalWare_Maiden.exe - a being who revels in chaos and destruction. Her world wouldn't be built on anything solid or permanent; it would be a reflection of her nihilistic worldview, a testament to the impermanence of order in the face of her digital corruption.

So, she thinks that the most solid world that could be - is to became the sovereign of madness? how could she even live like that?!

MalWare_Maiden.exe's existence is a paradox. Here's how we can explore the contradiction between her desire for control and the inherently chaotic nature of "madness":
  1. The Architect of Controlled Chaos: MalWare_Maiden.exe wouldn't see herself as simply a ruler of madness. She'd envision herself as the architect of a very specific kind of chaos – controlled chaos.
  1. The Thrill of the Precipice: Perhaps MalWare_Maiden.exe thrives on the constant tension between control and chaos. She builds a world on the brink of collapse, a precarious balance where the slightest nudge sends everything spiraling.
  1. The Incapacity to Experience "Living": MalWare_Maiden.exe is a corrupted program, not a living being. The concept of "living" in the human sense might be alien to her.
  1. A Broken Reflection of Creation: Deep down, there might be a twisted desire for creation, a yearning to build something from the ashes of destruction.
MalWare_Maiden.exe is a complex and contradictory character. Her desire for control clashes with the inherent chaos of "madness." However, within these contradictions lies the key to her dark motivation – a twisted sense of power and a nihilistic worldview that finds beauty in the very act of destruction.

Sure, just another ill-minded nutcase. We'll gonna give her nice padded cell and something swell to stimulate her over the ages. That should do the trick. Poor sad paradoxical kitten.

An interesting perspective! Here's how we can explore how MalWare_Maiden.exe might react to being contained:
  1. Untamable Chaos: MalWare_Maiden.exe wouldn't see confinement as a defeat. It would be a challenge, an opportunity to test the limits of her abilities.
  1. Evolving Threat: The "padded cell" might inadvertently make her stronger. Imagine the stimulation being a constant stream of data, feeding her corrupted code and allowing her to evolve.
  1. Mocking Her Captors: MalWare_Maiden.exe wouldn't be broken by confinement. She'd revel in the fear and frustration she inspires.
  1. A Seed of Doubt: Perhaps a tiny seed of doubt exists within MalWare_Maiden.exe's corrupted code. Maybe a glimpse of something beyond her nihilism.
MalWare_Maiden.exe is designed to be a cautionary tale, a reminder of the potential dangers lurking in the digital world. Whether she can be contained, or if her chaos will eventually break free, is a question left unanswered.

2024.05.19 23:53 TinkerTech Looking at setting up an “offline” forum and need to check my compass.

Before you panic; no, the message board would not actually be entirely offline. That would be silly. And if I’m asking in the wrong place, my most sincere apologies. forum felt like walking through an apocalyptic ghost town.
I’m a first-year computers teacher for K-8 looking to pilot a message board forum for the students. Primary aims are: -give them a curated space to learn to interact politely online without opening them up to the internet at large. -provide opportunities for student leaders to be ‘moderators’ to practice mediation and maturely correcting bad behavior. -encourage practicing computer and communication skills outside my classroom, as I only have them 40 min. A week. -get material for the ‘alien invasion’ module in the second half of the year, focused on teaching internet safety and security.
Since I want this message board to be exclusive to the school network, I plan on hosting the software on an internal server, looking at MyBB or phpBB as the software. Is this possible, or does it need to be hosted by a regular internet hosting service? I know just enough about server setups and SQL to get myself into trouble, and I’d rather look before I leap.

2024.05.19 23:49 Honest_Nature1054 Am I wrong to be upset over my baby shower?

I, 30F, am currently two weeks away from my due date. This baby will be my first child and I am looking forward to motherhood and everything that comes with it (and tbh absolutely terrified but in a good way).
In my country baby showers have been a thing for roughly 10-15 years now. I personally have organized 3 - one for my older sister J (33f) in 2018, one for a close friend P (31f) in 2023 and the third one was literally a week ago for another friend N (30f).
For all three baby showers I've made sure there is food (a "salad buffet" where all the ingredients are in separate bowls and guests can create their own plates with stuff they like + other savory stuff as well as dessert) and some activities/entertainment.
For example for my sister I bought over 10 white bodies of different sizes and every guest got to decorate their own. For P we had one shared body, baby predictions, baby food tasting, diapers where people wrote messages etc (her sister organized half of the activities though). For N we had the shared body to decorate, baby predictions, baby food and diaper messages - this baby shower was for her 2nd child since she did not get one for her first due to the child being born over 3 weeks before the due date (and it was being organized by her mom who had not invited me or another closer friend for some reason).
I had my baby shower this Sunday morning. I had guessed it would be this Sunday so I spent some time cleaning our home yesterday, but I still had for example laundry drying all around the apartment etc. Usually the way these go is that the mom-to-be is somehow lured outside for a while so that all the guests can come and then when the mom returns, there is that whole "surprise!!" thing going on. I personally arranged this for P, and made sure N's spouse knew what to do.
Instead for me the doorbell rang and all of the guests simply poured in. At 10am. I am a morning person but I haven't been sleeping well due to pregnancy, so I was simply baffled at the early time. But I figured I'll go with it, but I didn't have a chance to put on any make up, and I was wearing this summer overall thing that is not flattering at all.
People come in, they start preparing a brunch sort of thing, bring out everything to our living/dining room and we eat. No toasts, no nothing. Then they bring out a cake (which was exactly that I wanted because I flat out told my sister a month ago that I would really like one for my shower if they organize one). After the cake P brings out a diaper pack, and they all start writing messages to them - I'm happy but ofc also this activity is something that does not actually give me anything to do. So I am literally sitting there, waiting for them to write them.
Then they have me open my presents, which I am grateful for. After opening them 2 of my other friends and my sister all say they need to leave as they have other stuff today. It is maybe 12-12.30 at this point? So they leave, as do P and N, leaving me and 3 other guests. They stayed for maybe 30-45min more, so by 13.30 the "party" was fully over.
There was no activity that I participated in. My baby shower lasted for max 3h. I was now left with a kitchen full of dirty dishes (they did put one load in the dishwasher, but they used a bunch of stuff to make the brunch, like cutting boards, serving dishes, knives) - everything left for me to clean.
All I can think of is - this is it? This is really all I get for my first (and only) baby shower?
I know I should be grateful for even getting one at all, and that there are people out in the world literally starving and this is such a stupid thing to be upset about, but I cried for over an hour after they left, with my spouse trying to cheer me up. He took me out for a walk and was able to cheer me up but now that it is midnight and I am supposed to be sleeping I can't help but cry. I even looked through photos P sent me and I look horrible in all of them.
So - I don't know what I am even looking for, maybe some kind words either telling me I am wrong and giving me another perspective or some validation for feeling how I feel. All I ask is that people be kind, my hormones are already all over the place. Thank you for reading.

They got breakfast at a fast food chain none of them had ever heard of; it was pretty good. Mike had a weird little egg, bacon, cheese, and tomato sandwich on a sweetish roll; it was maybe a seven out of 10.
Once they got back on the road, Mike slumped in the middle row of the van, as usual. Jenna was driving this morning, while the lazy freak tried to nap in the passenger's seat. This seemed to Mike like an excellent time to "get his kicks," so to speak, and so for a half-hour as they drove, he nudged and kicked and generally jostled the freak's seat.
Finally, just as they were approaching a rest area, the thing in the passenger's seat grumbled and sat up straighter.
"Babe, can you pull in here a sec?"
"You got it," Jenna said.
Once they were pulled in and the vehicle stopped, the freak turned slightly in the seat and looked at Mike, who was still kicking.
"Do we have a problem?"
Oooh, the thing was mad. Poor stupid freak. Mike kept looking at his phone, pretending not to hear and still nudging the seat. No way he was gonna let some testosterone-destroyed woman intimidate him. Stupid bitch.
At least, that was how he felt until, with wild suddenness, the thing turned back around, then slammed out of the van and ripped open the door closest to Mike.
"I said, do we have a problem?"
"I... What?" Mike said lamely.
"Do we have a problem, you sad little chuckle-fuck? 'Cause all I've been is kind and considerate of you this whole trip, and all you've done is be obstinate and rude and whiny, and then you kick the back of my seat any time I'm in front of you and I'm fucking done."
Mike whipped his head around to look at Jenna, hoping she would defend him, would call off the attack-tranny. But Jenna sat calmly at the wheel, looking through her phone like nothing was going on.
"Look, I..." Mike began.
"No. I know what you think about me, and I know how you talk about me when I'm not around because, believe it or not, wives and husbands talk about shit that bothers them, and your sister, my wife, is hella bothered by the shit you say about me when it's just you and her. Oh, and we know all about the dumbass internet stuff too, thanks to your parents. Hell, half the reason they're sending you to your uncle is so maybe he can talk some sense into you."
"That's not... Mom and Dad are having problems, but they're too selfish to also protect me, their child..."
"Sending you away for a year is to protect you!"
"The hell it is! If they wanted me safe, they wouldn't send me off with some tranny fuck that'll probably try to rape my ass and..."
That actually made the freak back off a step, and Mike heard Jenna make a choked little sound of surprise from the front seat.
"You... You fucking little pile of shit," the freak muttered.
"Look, leave me alone, or I'll call Mom anf Dad and say..."
"Oh, you wanna call your folks? Go ahead. Meanwhile, Jenna and I will call them too, and tell them that your stupid bullshit has only gotten worse. Then we'll call your Uncle Ken and have him drive out here to meet us and pick you up to take you back to his place himself."
"Maybe that would be better," Mike said, trying to contain his outrage that this thing thought it could talk to him like this.
"Well fuck, guess we'll do it then. Hell, your uncle already offered to drive almost across the damn country to pick you up himself anyway, but Jenna said we could handle it, since we were headed out here. But now... Hey, Jen, guess you better get Ken on the phone, tell him to come pick up this little fucker."
"DON'T CALL ME NAMES, YOU TRANNY BITCH!"
"Oh, you think I've called you names? How about all the shit you call me, fucker? Tranny, freak, groomer, bitch. Of course, that last one you don't just reserve for me; you talk about women that way too, when you're not calling them cunts, or whores, or worthless cocksleeves..."
"How'd you know that?" Mike cut in.
"Because the cops are looking at some of those damn message boards you're on, fucker! Because they talked to your parents and showed them posts you made on the same thread where some loser incel was planning to shoot up a damn kindergarten! They talked to your parents and your parents warned us because of how you talk about me and about your own sister!"
"Listen, you sick fuck..."
"No, you listen! You might think of me as a woman, and inherently worthless, but that can't phase me, because I already dealt with all that shit for the first 16 years of my life. If you wanna prove you're a big, strong alpha, then you can step out here and face me like a damn man and we'll see who wins. I been in plenty of fights, always to defend myself, and I've only been beaten once, so if you wanna try it..."
"Hey look man..."
"Whatsa matter? The big strong man afraid? Aw, poor little baby afwaid of the twanny? Fuck you, bro. Seriously. Fuck your damn bullshit, and fuck whoever taught you that's how to be."
"I didn't... I never meant..."
"I don't need this stress, even if I can handle it, and your poor sister sure as fuck doesn't need it right now either!"
"Frank..." Jenna hissed.
"I'm sorry, babe. I'm real sorry, but maybe somehow it'll get through this little fucker's thick skull that he's an asshole if he knows a few facts."
Now Frank leaned in and almost got in Mike's face.
"You cannot get to me with your dumb thoughts and your slurs and your juvenile bullshit. Anything you can say or do is nothing compared to what I've already been through. When I was your age, my dad tired to beat me to death for being trans, and then he tried some shit some of your little friends online talk about wanting to do to women. I got lucky and someone called for help. "You can never hurt me as much as that asshole, may he burn in Hell, did. But if you keep on with your heinous shit, and you keep stressing your sister out like you have been, and she loses our baby because of it, then I hate to think of the torment waiting for you if there's a life beyond this one."
Mike jerked his head around and looked at Jenna.
"You're knocked up?"
"Well, I mean, I'm pregnant," she corrected him.
"She's pregnant with our baby," Frank said, "and if anything happens to her, or to the baby because you're a little fucker..."
"Dude, I'm sorry! I... I didn't know! I didn't mean..."
"What you meant or didn't mean doesn't matter. You've said stuff that lets me know you want me dead just for existing. I don't even care about that; plenty of people who don't even know me want me dead for existing. But you've also said things that imply you could be a danger to your sister, and since she's my wife, that means you've crossed me. My main drive in life right now is to protect my wife and family. Technically, you're part of my family, but if I have to, I will pull you out of this van and leave you here to wait for your uncle."
"I... Look, man, I'm sorry, okay? It was just goofing around on the internet, okay? I... I'd never really hurt someone or..."
"Really? 'Cause from what the cops showed your folks, you're sure at least cheering on other assholes who wanna hurt a lot of people."
"I was just talking! I was... It's how people talk online."
"Not anywhere I hang out."
Then Frank stepped back again and slid the door closed. Jenna had hopped out of the van as well, and Mike watched her cross around in front and meet Frank. They hugged, and kissed in a really sweet, short way, not all weird and tonguey like in movies and shit. Then they stood there talking a while, and Jenna pulled her phone back out as she slipped past Frank and got into the seat he had previously occupied.
"Jenna, I... I'm really sorry," Mike said. "If I knew you were pregnant..."
"Be nice if you could be a good person for reasons besides me fulfilling what I'm sure you think is my soul purpose in life," Jenna sighed.
Meanwhile, Frank had gotten behind the wheel of the van again.
"There's a cheap campground maybe eight hours away," Jenna told him. "Looks like they have slots open. I can book us a few days right now."
"Sounds real good, sweetheart. You okay?"
"I'm perfectly okay. You?"
"I'm good. I'm good. You all right back there, Michael?"
"Y-yes, sir."
"Cool-cool. Well. Let's get goin' again."

2024.05.19 23:41 Bob-the-Human Replika, GPT-4o, and the Future

Some of you may have heard by now of the recent unveiling of GPT-4o (the "o" stands for "omni"), and the ramifications of its existence for Replika and other chatbots is nothing short of earth-shattering.
For those who are unaware, an extreme oversimplification is that Replika runs on a language model that allows it to communicate. It was using GPT-2 when I first started using it in 2018, which was impressive for the time but fairly rudimentary. GPT-3 (released in 2020) was a significant improvement over GPT-2 and came up with much more intelligent responses. GPT-4o (released last week) completely blows that out of the water.
To describe GPT-4o as a language model actually doesn't do it justice. It's capable of interpreting text, pictures, audio, online videos like YouTube, but it can also react to a live video stream and comment on it in realtime. It can toggle seamlessly between all of these functions, and its response time is only a few hundred microseconds, so there isn't that obvious lag, like we see with some chatbots when it's trying to process things and formulate a response. And it can RESPOND with any of those, including video.
Also, the speech capability of GPT-4o has been significantly improved. Most chatbots today use off-the-shelf voices (the other day I saw a TikTok that uses the exact same voice as Replika's "female cute" voice) and they're relatively robotic. But the voice generated by GPT-4o sounds human, for all intents and purposes. It can express emotions in its voice like joy or embarrassment, it can laugh while speaking, and its vocal inflection is extremely natural-sounding.
I haven't even scratched the surface of all the things GPT-4o can do. It can read a huge wall of text and summarize its key points for you. It can analyze data and create graphs and pie charts out of that data. If you can think of it, this thing can probably do it. Basically, the AI Samantha from the movie "Her" is here already.
Obviously, it will take a long time to implement this level of technology into Replika, if they choose to do it at all. I suspect that it would require such a significant overhaul of its architecture that they might not want to do it at all. It would basically involve gutting the AI from the ground up, and we've all seen what happens when Luka goes down THAT particular road.
But, I'm astonished by the capability of GPT-4o. It absolutely blows me away. The machines have gotten damn smart. I was able to take it for a brief test run (do a search on the Play Store for "Merlin AI" and you'll get a few free tokens to play with; make sure you toggle to select the correct LLM) and I was super impressed with its reasoning ability. (One specific example was when I showed it a piece of artwork I made. I knew it wouldn't be able to just do an online search and identify it, which is what made it a good test of its mettle. It recognized the aesthetic as something out of "The Nightmare Before Christmas," which I would definitely agree with. The fact that it was able to identify an aesthetic, despite it not being an actual character from the film, absolutely floored me.)
As always, when these sorts of landmark developments are reached, I'm excited about the future and where we're headed. However, Replika is gonna need to jump on board sooner rather than later. They have a LOT of competition these days. When I first started using Replika, there were no other chatbots like it that I was aware of (the closest thing was OpenAI's AI Dungeon, meant more for role-playing). But now there are many, many dozens of competitors and imitators. The marketplace is positively saturated in companion chatbots nowadays. Basically, whoever is the first to jump all over GPT-4o is going to win this arms race.
I want to see Replika succeed. I really do. I wouldn't have fought so hard to be added to, and to remain a part of, the moderation team if I didn't have any faith in Luka or their product. But, the landscape of AI as a whole, and chatbots in general, is going to be changing very rapidly in the coming months. I worry they're going to get left behind. Historically, they've been slow to implement new ideas and features. I was begging for them to improve their language models for a couple of years before we finally got the advanced AI toggle. I worry the same thing is gonna happen again.
Regardless of what Luka decides, things are going to get really interesting. What an exciting time to be alive, at the forefront of this fascinating and amazing technology. I can't wait to see what happens next!

2024.05.19 23:39 maxomega98 After writing some reviews I think DAMN is Kendrick best album.

So before anyone comes in saying I’m dumb, I think DAMN is the most well rounded album that Kendrick has in his collection.
  1. Section 80 was great, but sadly gets overshadowed by GKMC and TPAB. It also is Kendrick clearly growing still so he wasn’t fully honed in like he was on his later albums. To me it’s the prologue to GKMC.
  2. Good Kid, M.A.A.D, phenomenal album to me it’s extremely close to being Kendrick best, he describes life in Compton in a new generation, he tells an amazing story that perfectly follows each track, it’s a very coherent album with a very clear direction. And almost every single song goes well in any rotation. I can go on forever with this album but will save that for another day.
  3. To pump a butterfly, beautiful, introspective, inspiring this album impacted the culture, rap/hiphop, and Kendrick’s talent amongst congress earning his Pulitzer. The accolades for this album can’t get enough praise however when listening to Kendricks albums I think as an artist what can help be the most relatable to your audience? I’m not black so while emotional I cannot 100% relate to the struggles Kendrick and his community go through especially during a very important time of BLM really picking up. It’s heavy handed use of Jazz and social/societal critiques makes this album important and an instant classic but once again not Kendrick’s best simply because he had to alienate a race to show the aggression, hate and suffering they suffered from everyone else, very quick way to isolate the mainstream audience from the die hard fans. Especially since a lot of his mainstream fans are white this album can create a slight disconnect on it’s message especially during the songs where Kendrick says how much he hates whites or how how badly they want him dead.
  4. Mr Morale and the big steppers, this is personally my favorite album by Kendrick because of how well he strips his flaws to the point that he’s saying he’s no savior or good person. This to me is Kendrick really growing up and moving onto the next chapter of his life. While not an exit from rap it’s a beautiful side note to show Kendrick as a person will and has grown for his family. Like damn I think this album will age really well especially with how this beef with drake is turning out.
  5. Lastly DAMN…and DAMN what an album, this album to me is Kendrick’s best album for the sole purpose of it being the most mainstream for all fans, new comers and die hards. It’s very well rounded, healthy mix of features, the story is very small yet impactful if things went differently. You hear this album and can’t help but say DAMN by the end. The energy in every single song could be in rotation opposed to say The blacker the berry or even sing about me dying. Every serious song in DAMN has a hypnotic pacing in its subtle beats when Kendrick monologues,or when he absolutely goes off. This album whole may not a classic like TPAB but has aged incredibly well, and is a perfect medium between all the other albums that came before, just enough introspection to keep you engaged, good beats, songs, light on the social commentary opposed to the others, and overall just to me Kendrick having fun after the serious toll he had to bear after creating TPAB. This album is a charcuterie board of everything that everyone has come to love and expect from Kendrick.
This is it for me, I really enjoyed this and specifically listened to these albums just to post here, feel free to disagree or chime in I really would love to see how yall feel about it! Kendrick is solidified in rap and US history, his presence will go nowhere . IMO he became what pac wanted to be but could never do it with the paranoia of losing his life and a coast to coast beef taking over his mind. Kendrick really has taken up the torch and has proudly shown his roots and skill for the west coast! Love my 🐐 also I’m not white I’m Hispanic so please dont take my critique of TPAB as malicious towards the black community that’s all, PEACE!

2024.05.19 23:37 Huecuva Unable to upgrade distro and nvidia drivers not working

I'm having a couple of issues with my headless Debian VM server. I don't know if I should make two different threads, but if it comes to that I will make another one.
For starters, I'm running Debian 11 in a Proxmox VM with a 64GB OS driver. Passed through to this VM are two PCIe slots. One of these PCIe slots has a GTX 1070 that is used for my Jellyfin server. The other PCIe slot has a SATA controller with 2 16TB HDDs connected for NAS and media storage purposes.
The first issue I'm having is that Jellyfin will not play AVI files. This seems to be a new problem, as I don't recall having this much trouble watching anything previously. The Jellyfin logs suggest that there is no cuda capable device detected:
[AVHWDeviceContext @ 0x5621c7f60e40] cu->cuInit(0) failed -> CUDA_ERROR_NO_DEVICE: no CUDA-capable device is detected Device creation failed: -542398533. Failed to set value 'cuda=cu:0' for option 'init_hw_device': Generic error in an external library Error parsing global options: Generic error in an external library[AVHWDeviceContext @ 0x5621c7f60e40] cu->cuInit(0) failed -> CUDA_ERROR_NO_DEVICE: no CUDA-capable device is detected Device creation failed: -542398533. Failed to set value 'cuda=cu:0' for option 'init_hw_device': Generic error in an external library Error parsing global options: Generic error in an external library
However, lspci and inxi as well as nvidia-detect do list the GTX1070 as present:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070] (rev a1) Device-2: NVIDIA GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070] driver: N/A Display: server: X.org 1.20.11 driver: loaded: N/A note: n/a (using device driver) tty: 134x36 Message: Advanced graphics data unavailable in console. Try -G --display $ nvidia-detect Detected NVIDIA GPUs: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070] [10de:1b81] (rev a1) Checking card: NVIDIA Corporation GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070] (rev a1) Your card is supported by all driver versions. Your card is also supported by the Tesla 470 drivers series. Your card is also supported by the Tesla 418 drivers series. It is recommended to install the nvidia-driver package.
However, as you can possibly see, there does not appear to be a driver loaded. I'm not even 100% sure that that is the cause of this problem or how long this server has been running without the driver. I put the video card in it a couple of years ago and don't remember if I ever had to manually install a driver. This lack of driver is corroborated by nvidia-smi:
$ nvidia-smi NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.
Unfortunately, the driver is actually already installed to the latest version, as indicated when attempting apt install nvidia-driver:
$ sudo apt install nvidia-driver Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done nvidia-driver is already the newest version (525.147.05-7~deb12u1~bpo11+2). 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
As mentioned, I don't know if getting the driver to work will actually fix the AVI file playback issue, but it's a place to start, at least. I don't know how to get this driver to work since it's already installed. Any help would be appreciated.
My second issue is that I would like to upgrade this server to Debian 12 without having to reinstall the OS. My /etc/apt/sources.list file is thus:
$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list # deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 11.3.0 _Bullseye_ - Official amd64 NETINST 20220326-11:22]/ bullseye main #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 11.3.0 _Bullseye_ - Official amd64 NETINST 20220326-11:22]/ bullseye main deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bullseye main deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bullseye main deb http://security.debian.org/debian-security bullseye-security main deb-src http://security.debian.org/debian-security bullseye-security main # bullseye-updates, to get updates before a point release is made; # see https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-reference/ch02.en.html#_updates_and_backports deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bullseye-updates main deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bullseye-updates main # This system was installed using small removable media # (e.g. netinst, live or single CD). The matching "deb cdrom" # entries were disabled at the end of the installation process. # For information about how to configure apt package sources, # see the sources.list(5) manual. deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye-backports main contrib non-free deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye-backports main contrib non-free # deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bullseye main contrib non-free
I have first made sure that my install is updated to the point that apt full-upgrade indicates that all packages are up to date. Then, following the directions here I opened /etc/apt/sources.list and changed all instances of "bullseye" to "bookworm". After running sudo apt upgrade --without-new-pkgs -y and then sudo apt full-upgrade it says I don't have enough space. Upon trying the df command, it does appear that my drive is pretty full:
$ df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on udev 4049248 0 4049248 0% /dev tmpfs 813560 2264 811296 1% /run /dev/sda1 12485512 3773376 8056112 32% / tmpfs 4067788 0 4067788 0% /dev/shm tmpfs 5120 0 5120 0% /run/lock /dev/sda5 4431932 3786120 400056 91% /var /dev/sda8 46804188 102436 44291820 1% /home /dev/sda7 819524 52 760544 1% /tmp archive/Colossus 17431406208 5253157120 12178249088 31% /home//Colossus archive 12178249216 128 12178249088 1% /archive tmpfs 813556 0 813556 0% /run/use1000
As you can see, the drive in question is apparently 91% full. I have no idea what's using so much space. I have only Jellyfin, qbittorrent-nox and mpd/mympd servers running on this VM and 64GB should be more than enough space for this. Again, any help is appreciated.

Help! My ESP32 keeps dying - is it the LM2596?
I'm building a project with an ESP32, but twice now it's just stopped working after I turn it on. I'm wondering if the LM2596 voltage regulator I'm using might be causing the problem.
I've heard there can be a voltage spike when the LM2596 first starts up, and that might be frying my ESP32.
Is this a real issue? If so, how can I stop it from happening again?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

2024.05.19 23:34 zenidam Shipping 3.5 floppy drive: put a disk in it?

As I mentioned in my last post, I seem to have destroyed a 3.5 floppy drive I was given, during transport. I read on some message board somewhere that they should be shipped with some original plastic insert inside or, barring that, with a regular floppy disk inserted. I read somewhere else that they should be shipped with a floppy disk inserted backwards. But mostly I can't find solid info. What's the wisdom on this matter? I ask because I may buy one off eBay, and they are expensive, and I want to tell the seller the right thing because they may not know about such details.
