2024.05.20 07:22 Needadvicebdp Did I deserve this discard

I was with my loved one for two years, I wasn’t the perfect partner but I know I was a good one because I cared about her with my entire heart. I would give her reassurance and affection every day, I would only lose patience in fights that she took it too far as I know I didn’t handle every fight well. The fights were always over small things too. She would also take things out on me if she had a bad day. I would also ask for alone time if I sensed an argument would happen to avoid it but she took that as me ignoring her or the silent treatment. I would also get blocked and unblocked depending on how upset she was from the fights along with mean things said towards me, it was hard because I know I lost some patience in some of the fights but they shouldn’t have even happened in the first place.
Fast forward I feel like our last fight changed everything, we made plans to spend time and I asked when she was ready and she told me the timeframe so I decided to do something to pass the time especially since I was tired and almost knocked out so it would help me get energy but she finished significantly faster than what I expected. I told her okay let me finish this real quick and we will spend time but she didn’t appreciate the slight delay in plans saying how I didn’t prioritize her saying I chose something else over here and cancelled our plans and wouldn’t listen to me that it wasn’t a big deal and only a slight delay as I’ll be finished soon so I was upset after awhile because nothing I said was getting through to her so i regret saying to her that she was being a baby and that she was being annoying since she kept insisting I chose something over her. This would then make her extremely mad telling me to unalive myself about 40 times in all caps and how she’s going to leave my life and block me. The thing is this wasn’t the first time she would say these things so I didn’t take it seriously but then I would spend the rest of the time not being annoyed anymore and trying to calm her down.
But then it seems as if that fight is the reason I was discarded, because after the fight she was distant but I thought it was because she was stressed and sick since that is what she told me. There were about two instances where she said that she didn’t feel the same anymore and that she was unhappy as I wasn’t listening to her but she’s said these things in the past a lot before too as I asked her what was wrong and she then says that she feels unwell and in pain. Throughout the two weeks after the fight I was being supportive and I didn’t say anything negative, she was even telling me that she loved and misses me and how she would always be in my life as I wasn’t always the one saying these things first. She asked me if I hated her since she wasn’t herself and I thought it was because of the stress and pain that she was in especially since she told me she was drinking for two days but I’m unsure if it was more. One of the days she even told me she was agitated and overwhelmed and apologized when she suddenly lashed out at me when she would say that I dismiss her feelings.
The day before she blocked me she even told me she loved me. Then the next morning she says this isn’t working for her anymore and I saw she wasn’t herself especially since she had typos which only happened if she was stressed and I’m telling her only messages of support saying she doesn’t need to push me away and that I’m here for her but then I saw her irritated saying that she was done and unhappy and then blocked me. I tried to message her everywhere I could but I always was blocked without a response and then I saw her attempting to seek a new connection with others and when I told her to just talk to me she told me to fuck off and that I ruined her life.
She replaced me so quickly as she’s always spending time with this new guy for hours as it might be the honeymoon phase but it’s left me so depressed because I don’t understand how I instantly meant nothing anymore. I feel this guilt and remorse that if I had more patience none of this wouldn’t happened especially in the last fight and everyone I speak to says I did nothing wrong but I’ve been in misery because we had a great connection and she was always sweet and kind towards me but suddenly turned cold as I don’t know why this is happening to me as it is so unexpected in being replaced despite all the good we’ve shared for years.

2024.05.20 07:05 DaSchmoe I've had a recurring theme of cannibalism in my dreams lately

Just a brief introduction before we get into the dream. I am 17(m) and I regularly have extremely vivid dreams where I'm fully engrossed and believe 100% that what I'm experiencing is reality. I wake up daily either sad or relieved that what I had experienced in the night wasn't real. As you can imagine this makes dreams either blissful or horrifying, depending on the contents. Another thing to note is that this is probably the third dream I've had where someone has been trying to eat me.
So basically the first thing I can remember was that I was with 2 of my buddies and we were riding Hogs (Yes, large pigs) down the highway at 120 mph+. Extremely fun and exhilarating as we passed by car after car at extremely high speeds. After a while, we take a turn to the left and start taking a trail through the most beautiful valley. The sun is shining down with a yellowy and orangish tint. The grass around me is swaying in the wind all across these countless hills. Truly one of the most beautiful scenes of nature I've ever seen, I couldn't have predicted what would happen next. We eventually come across a small town with a tavern and a bunch of people sitting, drinking, and watching something happen in a pit. I forget what was going on inside the pit but I don't recall it being anything bad, a soccer match perhaps? (That's what my mind is leaning towards anyway). Overtime me and 1 buddy of mine get to know the people of the town a bit better and the town leader (I wouldn't call him the mayor, he was more of just a leading figure in their community than a mayor, but I'll call him that anyway for convenience). (Something to note is that the mayor is a tall and strong man, probably about 7 feet tall and heavy, I couldn't tell you how heavy tho) The mayor was extremely hospitable to us and even showed us a place to stay with another person who also seemed to be traveling along and staying for a while. (I don't know exactly where my third friend went, however, I'm quite certain he stayed on the road and continued towards our original direction). The traveler (As I'll call him) was around 6ft 70kg and black in skin color. He was a kind, quiet fellow. However, he didn't really wanna make too much eye contact with me (which will make sense later on). I didn't think too much of it at the time. The day passes by without much else happening and I fall asleep in the same room as the traveler with my friend there alongside me, and we wake up in the morning. The next morning we are sitting at the bar when all of a sudden the mayor walks out of the back and right past me with two rather fancy antique cheese knives in each hand. I could feel the dread build up inside me for a split second. (I thought he was coming to kill me) I quickly become slightly relieved after he walks straight past me, however, that was short-lived as he shouts something to someone else and sticks him with both knives right in the chest. It was horrifying to witness the breath and life get sucked out of that man right before my very eyes, it was so real. There was also a sound effect of a deep "bumm" sound the second he stabbed him, only adding to the severity of the moment. I was about to start fighting the mayor but before I did, I realized everyone in the town was on his side. They started chanting and all looked at me and my friend as though they were going to kill us next. It was at this moment I realized all these people were cannibals luring victims into their town to kill and eat. I instantly became disgusted as I had eaten some of their meat the prior day. I was scared and began to run, however I didn't get far before eventually being taken down and captured. (This was the last thing I remember before being ported back at the start of when I first came across the town). I had died but it was as though I was given a second chance to try and survive this encounter (This had never happened to me in a dream before, I had never died in any of the dreams leading up to this point). I walked through the town and into the tavern keeping a cool face despite knowing full well what was going to happen the following day. I got back to the part where the mayor introduced me to the traveler, I looked at him with disdain as I realized he had sided with the cannibals. This is why he couldn't look me in the eyes, he was too ashamed of the fact he knew what would happen to us. I'm dreading going to sleep in this tavern as I know that these people are trying to eat me ("What if they get me in my sleep" is what I was thinking at the time). To my surprise the event didn't wait for the next day this time, it was happening now, just as I had sat down at the bar. I watched the mayor rush past me again and try to stab the same man. I caught on faster this time and stopped him. This time I was ready to fight back properly. To my surprise, the traveler stood up and helped me and my friend, however, the sheer number of the people was too much and they took him down. I was with my friend and while they were jumping the traveler we ran. I'm sorry, I knew we couldn't win, so we ran. I'm sorry. Eventually, the mayor catches up to us and we have a little scuffle, I throw a pizza box clumsily at his face as I scramble to put anything between me and the two knives. Eventually, I make it outside the tavern however the scenery is different. Now I'm in the driveway of a house inside a large neighborhood. The neighborhood was upper-class with beautiful trees and trimmed hedges. I stopped worrying about the cannibals as I heard voices in the distance shouting at me. I was instantly relieved as I soon saw who was coming, it was simply a gang of teens looking to fight, this put me at ease knowing I wasn't facing a 7-foot man armed with knives and his entire town but instead a gang of teens riding bicycles. For some reason I knew where these kids were from, I recognized their voices, and I knew what school they went to despite them wearing disguises. I walked up to the first guy and drop-kicked his hip which sent him to the ground, I shouted for the others to come fight but they ran away. I shouted back at them saying how I knew who their teacher was and shouted a name back at them (I forget the name). All of a sudden I'm no longer in the driveway but instead lying down staring at a large TV out in the open air. The TV had Wallpaper engine on it with all of my wallpapers, I remember a specific one which was Ornstein from DS1, if you know who that is. Alongside me was no longer my friend, but my youngest sister. She was whispering something in my ear as a song played loudly in the other. I wish I could remember what she was trying to tell me as maybe it was the answer as to why I was having this dream. I woke up shortly after with a depressed and horrified, yet relieved feeling as I realized that dream wasn't reality.
The wallpaper I remember seeing

This was the song I was hearing loudly in my other ear 11:15-11:47 https://youtu.be/rbw_n0LWpfo
The weird thing is I haven't listened to this song in about a year. I dont know why I was hearing it so vividly.
I guess I made this post because I just want to know why I'm having these dreams. I have a few guesses but I'm curious what you guys might have to say.

2024.05.20 07:05 LucyAriaRose Conclusion 10 months later: AITA for breaking my fiancé's family tradition by naming my son what I wanted?

Mood Spoiler: happy ending
Original Post: April 16, 2023
Throwaway because I have in-laws on Reddit.
Myself (25F) and my fiancé (27M) have a 2 month old son. We are overjoyed at being parents, but most of my in-laws are refusing to even see our baby because of a decision we made concerning his name.
My in-laws have a tradition of giving the first-born son of every generation the same name. Let's say it's "Peter". This has been going on for about seven generations already, and they're very serious about it. My fiancé's eldest cousin was the latest person to get named Peter. Every one of his cousins has only had daughters so far, so our baby is the first son of his generation, and consequently should get the name.
I have no problem with the name Peter, and would've been okay with naming my son that. Unfortunately, that was also the name of my uncle, who died before I was born. I won't get into details, but it was tragic and traumatizing for my family. My father never got over losing his younger brother.
My grandmother asked the family not to name any of our future children Peter during her lifetime. My MIL and FIL knew about this promise, and at first seemed to not only be okay with us avoiding the name Peter, but also supportive of the one we chose.
However, my grandmother sadly passed away when I was 7 months pregnant. We traveled for her funeral. On our last days there, my in-laws called to offer me their condolences. Then my MIL asked me if I was willing to "think about the name Peter now."
Suddenly, they were insistent that the name we chose was awful and we had to honor their tradition. According to them, they had only agreed to make an exception for us for my grandmother's sake, and had no obligation to keep it now that she had passed.
My family agrees that while it's true we don't have to avoid the name anymore, it still doesn't feel right to use it. My fiancé agrees with me as well, but his parents spent the last weeks of my pregnancy trying to convince us to change our minds about the name.
When our baby was born and we named him what we wanted, my in-laws were furious that we had broken a 7-generation-old family tradition. Some of them hadn't previously wanted to name their sons Peter, but did it anyway for the family's sake. They said our decision was selfish, and that my family "should have moved on by now."
This has truly nothing to do with whether my family has moved on or not, it just felt like a betrayal to my grandmother and uncle's memories to even consider using the name.
My FIL offered us $1000 to change our son's name to Peter after he was born. That was two months ago, and neither of my fiancé's parents have met the baby or seen us since I was pregnant. Most of my in-laws are on their side, and this is causing a huge rift between my fiancé and his family. He assures me he's fine, but I'm starting to feel really guilty about this.
AITA?
EDIT: The tradition started, as far as I know, when OG Peter died and his son, also named Peter, named his firstborn after his father. Peter III ended up having the first son of the following generation, and did the same thing. That one died before having children, so his sister gave the name to her son, and so on. The name “Peter” is very common in my country, so none of them ever got bullied over it, and the fact that it was also my uncle’s name isn’t as unlikely as one might think.
Also, middle names aren’t used in my country. Most people get the maternal surname before the paternal one instead.
EDIT 2: It wasn't 1000 dollars. Different country, different currency. It's still a lot of money, but would probably translate to about 200 USD.
Relevant Comments:
Can you use Peter as a middle name?"
Our country/culture doesn't generally use middle names. If we did, I'd be willing to think about that, even though my son's name doesn't match "Peter"."
How many Peters are alive right now in your family???"
There are 3 living "Peters" in the family right now. Only the eldest (my fiancé's great uncle) actually goes by Peter. The other two have nicknames ("Pete", "Petey", etc)."

Update Post: May 24, 2023 (a bit over 1 month later)
(OOP's post was removed from AITA, and reposted on her profile. I'm using the date of the AITA post. Comments are also from AITA)
I posted this on AITA, but it got removed about an hour ago because I mentioned a violent encounter on an edit. I tried editing it out and getting it back up, but it didn't work. I'm posting here in case anyone still wants to read it.
Original
Thank you so much to everyone who commented and offered support. A lot has happened since I posted, so I thought I'd give you an update.
About a week after my post, my fiancé's parents contacted us. They apologized for their behavior, and begged to meet my son. They said they were ready to leave the naming debacle behind and truly wanted to be involved in their grandson's life.
We were skeptical, but invited them over to meet the baby. The visit went well. They began coming over almost every day during the next three weeks. I noticed neither of them ever called my son by his name, but I didn't point it out. For the first time in months, things seemed good between my fiancé and his parents.
One day, my fiancé was helping my FIL with something at our place, so my MIL and I went to the park with my baby. Some time later, I had to go to the bathroom, so I left him in the stroller with her.
When I got back, she was sitting on a park bench, chatting with a woman who was cooing over my son. I went over there and introduced myself as "(son's name)'s mom", and she said, "I thought his name was Peter."
I didn't say a word, and neither did my MIL. She followed me to the car and we went back to my apartment. On the way there, I texted my fiancé about what had happened. The moment we got there, he kicked both his parents out of our place.
He'd read my texts and confronted his father. Thankfully, my FIL is a terrible liar, and confessed immediately. Apparently, both my in-laws ONLY call my son Peter. That includes whenever they're talking about him, every time they introduce him to someone else, and even baby-talking to him on the few occasions they were left alone with him. Neither of them are embarrassed by this, and they both think they're in the right.
We're heartbroken. Especially my fiancé. Not only because his parents can't let go of their pride, but also because the name we chose for our son means a lot to us both.
I blame myself for encouraging my fiancé to allow them near our son. I was raised in a different city than all my grandparents, and always wished they could have been more involved in my life. Losing my grandmother didn't help. Pretty much every doubt I had only existed because I thought it would be important for my son to grow up with all of his grandparents around.
But now, all my guilt is gone. If they can't respect my son enough to call him by his name, they don't deserve to be in his life.
I hope they enjoyed the three weeks they had with their grandson. Because that's all they're getting until they get their heads out of their asses.
EDIT: I thought I'd clarify some things. First of all, I'm not comfortable sharing my son's name here, but I promise it's not a "yooneek" name or anything like that. It's perfectly normal and popular-ish in our country.
Secondly, I mentioned this in the comments, but while my family didn't try to dictate me on my son's name, they would never be comfortable with it. My uncle Peter passed almost three decades ago, but it forever changed everyone who knew him. My grandmother's wish might seem a bit irrational, but it was motivated entirely by grief and it didn't seem right to disrespect that just because she's not around anymore.
And to whoever PM'd me that my fiancé's only on my side to keep the peace, he didn't want to use the name either. Months before I got pregnant, he told me he hoped one of his cousins would have a son before we did, because he always hated the tradition and sympathized with my family. He's just as angry at his parents as I am, if not more. Also, most of his cousins and some other relatives have come around and apologized.
Relevant Comments:
Are they this unhinged in other areas of your life too?"
According to my fiancé, they've always been a little entitled, but I never really saw them enough to be able to say that. I will say that, though they were polite, they very clearly didn't care about me until we moved in together. My MIL pretended not to remember my name every time she saw me, and my FIL would lose interest in any conversations that weren't about him. Once it was clear me and my fiancé were in for long term, they started acting a lot more friendly towards me, but it never seemed sincere."
Have other family members come around yet?"
Most of my fiancé's cousins have come around, and his brother was always on our side. His grandmother and some of his aunts and uncles are with us too. His grandfather (divorced from his grandmother), two out of three living Peters (the two oldest) and pretty much everyone else are either still mad at us or haven't reached out to talk about it yet.
My entire family is on my side. They promised not to interfere in the naming process, but are relieved we didn't name him Peter."
One more note on the $1000 offered in the first post:
"And that's $1000 in MY country's currency. It roughly translates to $200USD." (note- OOP clarifies in a comment that she is Brazilian)
OOP drops this horrible bombshell about her uncle, the one who died before she was born:
"My uncle was murdered. My grandmother's request was motivated by trauma."
"Again; my family would be mostly fine with naming my son Peter. My dad and my aunt might have been uncomfortable, and my grandmother asked us all not to do so, but I wouldn't have been disowned if I had. It simply felt disrespectful, especially since my grandmother passed shortly before my son was born.
My uncle's death was traumatic for my family, but the name Peter is hugely common in my country."
Update Post 2: July 28, 2023 (3 months from first post)
My son is now 5 months old (almost six!). We're still NC with my fiancé's parents, who haven't seen us since May. We've both blocked them everywhere. His relatives who were on our side still are, and most of the ones who weren't haven't come around. If anything, they're even more pissed now.
I remember someone suggesting that my fiancé's family might stop using the name after we decided not to. Well, you were right. Last week, one of my fiancé's cousins announced she was pregnant with a boy. She included her baby's name in the announcement, and it's not Peter.
What followed was a string of aggressive Instagram DMs from both MIL and FIL. They both created accounts for the sole purpose of contacting me. I didn't see them until two days later. They sent me almost an hour worth of voice messages about how I'd "ruined their family".
They wish their son had never met me, that he'd see me for "who I truly am", and that I'd never gotten pregnant. Many of the messages ended with "I hope you're happy now", as if they thought they were getting the last word, only to think of something else they wanted to say. There was name calling, an accusation of me cheating, and the persistent refusal to refer to my son as their grandchild.
My fiancé and I listened to the messages together. He hadn't gotten any. As much as I tried to distance myself, I was in tears by the time it was all done. I still don't regret anything, specially after the stunt they pulled back in May, but I'm not completely free of the guilt yet. Not to mention their complete disregard for their grandson. I was already having an overwhelming week, and this just seemed like the final straw.
I must have spent close to an hour sobbing in my fiancé's arms. Once I was calmer, he unblocked his parents just to scream at them for a while. I only heard his side of the conversation, but it was more than enough. He finished the call by saying he didn't want to hear from them again.
We had a long talk afterwards. My fiancé opened up about the emotional blackmail by his family before and after my pregnancy. My in-laws were close to threatening him with anything they could if we didn't name our son Peter. I told him about my guilt, and how awful I feel for putting him through this. We reassured each other, cried a bit more, and had a mostly pleasant evening with our baby.
We contacted his cousin. The family is giving her shit for breaking the tradition again. They're being way less aggressive though, and I think many of my in-laws are finally learning to let go. We're not expecting any apologies anytime soon, but we'll be glad if they come.
Our wedding will be in September 2024, and whoever doesn't give us a sincere apology until then is uninvited. My fiancé's parents are banned either way. We came to that decision together.
Also, I'd like to address some comments on my previous update about how I was "letting my family's trauma win", or how the name wouldn't be hurtful now that my grandmother has passed.
I can't stress enough the damage my uncle's death caused. He was only 30 years old. He had a fiancée, a great career and his whole life ahead of him. I don't know many details about what happened, because I didn't want to upset my family by asking. My grandmother wasn't the only person hurt by this, my entire paternal family was. And if I remember correctly, the person responsible isn't even in jail anymore. It was more than 20 years ago, but the wound never truly closed.
So yeah, I think it's safe to say the tradition is over. The next Not-Peter will be here in January, right before my son's first birthday. It was never my intention for this to turn into such a shitstorm, but I'm so incredibly proud of my little family.
Thank you so much to everyone who shared their stories and offered advice during these last few months. I'll be forever grateful for all the support I got from y'all.
*****New Update Post: May 13, 2024 (13 months from OG post, about 10 from last post)****\*
Hey everyone, it's been a while. I hope you guys had a great Mother's Day!
I remember that last year, I promised myself I'd write a final update as soon as I felt calmer or felt the situation was closer to being solved. That actually happened months ago, but I've been busy lately.
Following my previous update, my fiancé's side of the family remained upset about the tradition being over for a few more months. They were way less intense about it, specially with the pregnant cousin I mentioned, but it was still evident.
That cousin's Not-Peter (almost a year later, I still can't think of a better term) was born in January. Our son turned one the next month. I think the fact that these two things happened so close together helped many of my in-laws let go of the tradition.
We got a few apologies we weren't expecting. Some of them were sincere enough that we slowly started reestablishing contact.
My fiancé's parents were not among those who apologized. We haven't spoken to either of them since last July. From what I've heard from some of his other relatives, however, MIL seems regretful. She has told some of them that she wishes she could be part of her grandson's life, and wonders if making his name a hill to die on was a bad decision. FIL, from what I gather, barely acknowledges my baby exists.
My fiancé knows about how his mother feels, but he says he doesn't care. And even if we did get an apology, I don't think either of us can forgive his parents. As much as we're mostly okay now, it sometimes feels like their treatment of our family ruined the first few months of our baby's life. I know that's not actually true, but I don't want them around my child.
Besides all that, things have been great. My son is 15 months old now, which I don't think I'll ever really get used to. He recently started drawing and has been expanding his vocabulary. He said "mamãe" first, by the way.
My fiancé and I are still getting married in September. We're thinking about moving abroad in a couple years (for work reasons), but we're not sure yet. We also recently got a dog (sadly, we didn't name him Peter).
This will be my final update. Whatever guilt I had about this situation a year ago is completely gone, and my life has been peaceful enough that it feels safe to say the shitshow is over.
Hugo, if you ever find this, you are the most fantastic thing that has ever happened to us. Thank you for letting me be your mom.
Thank you, Reddit, for all the love, advice and support you've given me this past year.
Relevant Comment:
Commenter: Whilst this may be your final update on the naming sage, you said you are getting married in September 2024 and MiL&FiL aren't going to be invited.
Prepare for more craziness from them at that time and good luck :)
OOP: I really do think this is over. My fiancé's parents don't know when or where we're getting married, so I'm not worried about them showing up. They haven't reached out to us in months, and we have no interest in contacting them.

I recently brought home the Trexonic Retro Wireless Bluetooth Record and CD Player in Turquoise, and it's been a real nostalgic trip. To be honest, I was initially drawn to its sleek and retro design. Little did I know that it would turn out to be a music treasure trove.
Its three-speed record player with the capability to play all my vinyl records and albums certainly took me back to the good old days. Plus, the built-in Bluetooth and wireless streaming made it easy for me to enjoy my modern music seamlessly. A unique highlight is its ability to record from vinyl to MP3 via USB - a feature that I personally haven't tried out yet, but it's nice to have.
The sound quality is commendable, and even the volume control is well-balanced. Setting it up was a breeze, and even my kids loved it! The CD player and the SD/USB input enhance the music experience even more.
One minor drawback, though, is the lack of an integrated power button. It might take a little getting used to, but it's definitely not a deal-breaker. All in all, the Trexonic Retro Wireless Bluetooth Record and CD Player is a fantastic addition to my home, bringing together the charm of the past with the convenience of the present.

🔗Crosley Medley Retro All-in-One Entertainment Center

I recently stumbled upon the Crosley Medley Entertainment Center in Gray, and it's safe to say my music collection has never been more accessible. This retro-styled marvel boasts a 6-in-1 system that plays vinyl records, cassette tapes, CDs, and even has a built-in Bluetooth receiver. Its versatility is particularly handy, allowing me to enjoy anything from oldies to digital playlists without missing a beat.
The nostalgic touch of the wood cabinet and fabric-covered grills adds significantly to the overall aesthetic appeal of this entertainment center. It's not just about looks, though: the sound quality is decent, especially considering the price point. The cueing lever gives precision control over the vinyl playing, but be careful as some reviewers mentioned that Crosley turntables might not be the highest quality and could harm your vinyl if you're not gentle with them.
This device is a bit bulkier than some other options, but bear in mind it houses so many functions. The built-in stereo speakers are adequate, but not top-notch, another point for consideration.
One standout feature for me was the ease of use. From connecting my phone with Bluetooth to playing old vinyls, everything was a breeze. I didn't encounter any major issues and can confidently say it's worth every penny.
The negative points are few, but they do deserve a mention. There have been reports about potential damage to your vinyls due to the quality of the turntable, so exercise caution. Also, the size might be an issue for those with limited space.
In conclusion, if you're a music aficionado with a soft spot for retro aesthetics, the Crosley Medley Entertainment Center is a brilliant choice. It combines old-school charm with modern-day convenience, offering an enjoyable listening experience. While it may not be perfect, its flaws are outweighed by its flexibility and overall satisfying performance.

🔗Magnavox 3-Piece Compact CD Shelf System with Bluetooth

I was in the market for a compact music system that would fit seamlessly into my small apartment. I decided to give Magnavox MM435-WH a shot and boy, am I glad I did! This 3-piece system with Bluetooth and remote control in white features an LCD display that makes reading what's on display effortless and enjoyable.
One of the standout features of this product is its balanced sound quality, making it perfect for listening to music, audio books, or your favorite podcasts. It's perfect for use in various settings like offices, bedrooms, living areas, or kitchens. Additionally, Magnavox includes a remote control (with a CR2025 battery) with the purchase of this system, adding another layer of convenience.
However, there are a few cons to note. Some users have reported issues with the remote's volume control, while others have mentioned the system's inability to handle more demanding music styles.
Overall, the Magnavox MM435-WH offers a good balance between size and sound quality. Its compact design and various features make it an attractive option for those looking to incorporate a music system into their living space without sacrificing valuable real estate.

I have had the pleasure of using the Trexonic 3-Speed Vinyl Turntable Home Stereo System for a few months now, and I must say it's a great addition to my entertainment center. Not only does it look sleek and stylish, but it also packs a punch in terms of features and performance.
One of the aspects I appreciated most about this system was its versatility. Whether you're into vinyl records, CDs, digital music files, or even radio, this turntable has you covered. The sound quality is impressive without breaking the bank, making it an excellent option for audiophiles on a budget.
The Trexonic turntable comes with two wired shelf speakers that are easy to connect and deliver rich, balanced audio. The Bluetooth connectivity is smooth, allowing me to play tunes wirelessly from my phone when needed. The only downside I encountered was the lack of fine-tuning controls for the EQ, but again, considering the price point, it's not a deal-breaker.
As for ease of setup, it was a breeze. In no time at all, I had everything plugged in and ready to go. One of my favorite features is the ability to convert music from vinyl directly into MP3 format, which allows me to enjoy my old vinyl collection on the go.
Now, as with any product, there are a few cons to consider. Some users have reported issues with sound quality when playing larger vinyl records, while others have encountered problems with the turn table's needle. However, I personally have not experienced any major difficulties during my time with this turntable.
To sum up, the Trexonic 3-Speed Vinyl Turntable Home Stereo System offers a great value for those seeking a versatile and stylish home audio solution. While there may be some minor drawbacks, the overall experience has been enjoyable, and I would recommend it to others looking for a quality stereo system in a compact package.

🔗Jensen CD-565 Bluetooth CD Music System

https://preview.redd.it/hht7ftwfci1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=759a0437b4621b597bb19ca999bc30d74f3dbec0
After using the Jensen CD-565 Portable Bluetooth CD Music System for a couple of weeks, I must say that it has truly enhanced my music experience. It's amazing how it manages to blend nostalgia with modern tech, making it a perfect companion for parties and gatherings. The vertical loading CD player is not only space-efficient but also a conversation starter, bringing back memories of the good old days.
One of the most notable features of the CD-565 is its versatility. I've been able to connect all sorts of devices - my iPhone, my old CD collection, and even my kid's iPod. The Bluetooth connectivity is smooth and reliable, letting me stream music without any interruptions from up to 33 feet away. Plus, with the auxiliary input jack, I can plug in any device that doesn't have Bluetooth.
However, there are some minor things that could be improved. The sound quality is decent, but not outstanding. And while the built-in carrying handle makes it easy to move around, the system itself is quite bulky. Despite these cons, the Jensen CD-565 is a solid choice for anyone looking for a portable and feature-rich CD player with Bluetooth capabilities.

As a first-time user of the Soundstream VRN-DD7HB DVD/CD Player, I was thrilled to explore its versatile features. The dual touch screen and GPS made it incredibly easy to navigate through my music collection and locate nearby attractions.
I particularly appreciated the Bluetooth connectivity, which allowed me to stream my favorite playlists seamlessly. However, I encountered occasional hiccups during setup and the touch screen sensitivity sometimes left something to be desired. Overall, a solid device with room for improvement.

1. What is a CD player with Bluetooth?

A CD player with Bluetooth is a device that can play compact discs and also connect wirelessly to other Bluetooth-enabled devices, usually for streaming audio content.

2. How does a CD player with Bluetooth work?

https://preview.redd.it/jed2l2qhci1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6109a10c9cdcf3501cf7e35b79eae5d669ff2eba
A CD player with Bluetooth functions like a regular CD player, able to read and play CDs. However, it also contains a Bluetooth radio that allows it to communicate with other devices wirelessly. This means you can use the CD player as a standalone music source, or you can connect it to a smartphone or tablet to stream audio files over Bluetooth.

3. What are the advantages of using a CD player with Bluetooth?

https://preview.redd.it/sgd59o3ici1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=177b5eb87791523feceb395355f8a24c5987a3e7

4. Can I use a CD player with Bluetooth to play MP3s?

Many CD players with Bluetooth come equipped with USB ports or SD card slots, allowing you to play MP3 files directly from a USB stick or SD card. But if you want to stream MP3s from a mobile device, you need to first ensure that the Bluetooth feature on your CD player is compatible with the Bluetooth version of your device. Not all CD players with Bluetooth are compatible with all devices.

5. How do I set up my CD player with Bluetooth?

Setting up a CD player with Bluetooth depends on the specific player. However, it generally involves the following steps:
  1. Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device, if it's not already on.
  2. Place your CD player and your mobile device close to each other to ensure the best possible connection.
  3. Consult your CD player's user manual to find the Bluetooth pairing button or setting.
  4. Press this button or enable this setting on your CD player.
  5. Your CD player will now enter pairing mode. On your mobile device, look for the name of your CD player as an available Bluetooth device and select it.
  6. Your CD player and your mobile device should now be connected via Bluetooth.

6. How do I troubleshoot a CD player with Bluetooth?

If your CD player with Bluetooth is not working properly, try the following troubleshooting steps:
  1. Check that both your CD player and your mobile device have their Bluetooth features turned on.
  2. Ensure that they are within range of each other.
  3. Check that your CD player is compatible with your mobile device's Bluetooth version.
  4. Ensure that your CD player is not already paired with another device. If it is, disconnect it from the other device and try to pair it with your mobile device again.
  5. On some CD players, you may need to enter a specific code or passkey to pair the devices securely. Check your CD player's user manual for specific guidance.
  6. If the above steps don't solve the problem, try resetting your CD player to its factory settings

2024.05.20 06:04 Villanuevac4 Diamondbacks: F-14B Tomcats In Another World - Part 3.5

Author’s Notes:
Finally, I’m back yet again! I finally got the time to write this wonderful little story project again; Senior year of high school has me super busy. I’ll be leaving for Air Force Basic Training in early June to go be a 5th Gen Crew Chief, so expect a roughly 5-6 month hiatus until I can keep writing.
I also got a PS2 emulator running on my PC, so I did a playthrough of each of the three Ace Combat games featured for that console, as well as 7 and Project Wingman. In later parts, you’ll definitely be able to tell the inspiration I got from all of the games.
I forgot to mention this in my last part, but last year I was able to head to Norfolk and see the USS George Washington in person, which was really cool. Writing about it is one thing, but actually getting to go on it and walk around was another experience entirely.
This part was kind of hastily put together to give you guys something to read, since It’s been way too long since I got a part for you. Once I get time after BMT and Tech School, I’ll continue and eventually finish off the story (If I can fit it in between doing MX stuff all day). Story wise, this part is just a setup for the massive port raid that will happen in the next part; I’m planning 2 more parts after that to finish off the story. Overall this project’s been fun, but I have to cap it off eventually.
Happy Reading!

“Alright, settle down, settle down.”
All the members of VF-102 quickly stopped talking to each other and looked towards the front of the room.
The CO then pulled down the paper map attached to the ready room wall. He pointed to the large port city that was slightly inland and surrounded by topographical marks denoting mountainous terrain on all sides.
“Before we can hit their fleet in port, we have to get through their coastal defenses.”
The CO pointed to a narrow stretch of water on the map that opened up into the large bay.“
“The kingdom we’re up against were smart with their port city positioning; they have an island in the middle of this strait with a heavy stone fortress on it. From the imagery we were able to collect on it, the fort apparently acts as a naval defense platform for their main port city. In conjunction with the strait, it’s a perfect defensive position to lock down entry and exit into the bay. We’re going to hit the fort today before we hit their fleet early tomorrow.”
Each pilot and RIO nodded in understanding.
“We’re sending four of you up as a two-ship strike package alongside VFA-86. Those assigned to hop today are going to get MK83s with Snakeyes to do the initial strike, and then the Hornets are going to mop up with some Mavericks and Rockeyes. The rest of you flying today are going to run the usual CAP up along the coastline.”
The CO gave out crew assignments for the fort strike package, which included Type and Wizard in Diamondback 110, and another Tomcat crew in Diamondback 113.
“The fort island is roughly Alcatraz Island-sized, so four MK83s rippled should be sufficient enough to crack the outer walls of the fort. Just be careful, as we don’t know if they have any Triple-A or not. Other than that, you guys are dismissed. Good luck out there.”
Type and Wizard hopped up and headed out of the ready room with the other VF-102 pilots and RIOs following. They weaved through the narrow gray halls of the carrier slipping past Sailors while hanging onto their flight bags and helmets.

As the evening sun shined down on the carrier deck, Type walked up to the Plane Captain waiting next to Diamondback 110.
“Hi, how’s it going?”
“All good sir, we just pulled the pins and the Ordnance guys just finished up fitting on the Sparrows.”
“Perfect, let’s get rolling with the preflight.”
The Plane Captain nodded, and got to work doing the final preflight check alongside Type and Wizard.

After the preflight, Type and Wizard both climbed the ladders to the aircraft and got seated. Both of them fit on their Woodland camouflage-covered helmets and flipped down the dark visors. Type ran through the comms check with Wizard, and started up the aircraft.
After the aircraft was started and all the systems were good, the Sailors on deck pulled out the cart connections and drove it away. Wizard dropped the canopy, and the Director in front marshaled them out from their parking spot.

Lining up on Catapult 4 behind 113, Type watched as two of the VFA-86 F/A-18Cs on Catapults 1 and 2 were tandem launched with the other two Hornets waiting behind the blast deflectors. Type brought the Tomcat through the catapult connection process, with the Shooter signaling him in.

Both Shooters for 3 and 4 signaled for engine start right as both blast panels were raised. The Cat 3 Shooter knelt down and sent his arm forward, followed by the Cat 4 Shooter.
113 was sent from the deck first, with 110 following soon after. Wizard gripped his handlebars as the Tomcat rattled with the catapult launch, while Type applied backwards stick pressure as soon as the Tomcat left the deck. He quickly pulled the gear switch up as well, rolling left with 113 right as the gear doors sealed.

Coming high to Angels 6 at Mil Power, both 102 Tomcats formed up with the Hornets that had CBUs equipped; Sidewinder 402 and 406. The other two Hornets with Mavericks on their wings, Sidewinder 404 and 411, caught up and formed up behind them.
The six-ship traversed north at 450 knots before reaching 5 miles out from the fort.

Before they descended in, each aircraft engaged their Master Arm switches and readied up their ordnance. 404 and 411 warmed up their Mavericks, while 113, 110, 402, and 406 each readied up their bombs.
“Warden, 113, Master Arm on.”
“110, Master Arm.”
Type had ‘ORD’ indicated on his HUD, with the impact point cross displayed on the lower end.
In the back, Wizard flicked the weapons station switches for the centerline pylons on and rotated the bomb selector to the ‘Ripple’ setting.
“Scope’s clear, hit the deck and ingress. Cleared hot on target.”
“113 Roger, goin’ in.”
Diamondback 113 pitched down and broke through the heavy cloud layer, with each aircraft following. Each of them reached roughly 500 feet off the water’s surface and leveled off. Sidewinder 404 and 411 split left and right to line up their Mavericks.
Right before they encountered the fort, each pilot noticed a large stone bridge spanning the length of the bay with 113 doing a full 360-degree right roll as the flight passed over it.
402 and 406 slowed down ready to lob their Rockeyes up and into the fort, while 110 and 113 made slight adjustments to line up with the west and east wall lengths of the fort.
Popping up extremely low over the fort’s walls, the Tomcats started the strike.
“Ready for drop….Shit, that’s flak!”
On the walls of the fort, cannon operators quickly tried to react to the airstrike by raising their flak cannons towards the incoming aircraft. Some of them opened up, creating thin stretches of black flak puffs around the four fighter aircraft rapidly approaching.
113 made it over the western wall stretch and dropped their four MK83s, which opened their fins and slowed down behind the aircraft.
With a small delay, Type pulled the trigger for weapons release. Both him and Wizard audibly heard ThThThThunk come from the underside of their aircraft.
“Pickle, Pickle, Pickle!”

On the top of the fort walls, archers and flak cannon operators watched with fear-filled wide eyes as large green cylinders with fins slowly came down on them. They accepted their fate as they detonated on impact, blowing stone everywhere and collapsing the wall sections. Ammunition dumps in the walls detonated with a chain reaction, causing even more destruction.

The pilot of Sidewinder 404 finished up locking his target on the island; a large naval cannon reminiscent of an Ottoman siege cannon. Looking at his MFD, he noted the lock indication for his Maverick and hit the weapon release, calling out:
“404, Rifle, East Cannon.”
The AGM-65F ignited and slid off its rail with its optics focusing directly on the massive naval cannon, impacting it a short time later. Soon after, a Maverick from Sidewinder 411 impacted the large cannon on the west side of the island, blowing it to bits.
“Shack Cannons, 404, defending Triple-A…”

The other two Hornets pitched up into burner with both pilots attempting to line up their HUD CCIP markers on the center of the fort.
As they popped up, the flak started to get more intense. Both pilots pushed into burner to drop quickly.
“406, Pickle!”
“402, Pickle…”
The CBU-100s detached from underneath the Hornets, coming in an upwards arc over the fort. Each bomb split open, releasing a large amount of smaller bomblets which coated the fort’s central structure. Anything or anyone in the blast radius was now dust.
“406, egressing-”
As Sidewinder 406 split left, the Hornet flew through a flak burst and took structural damage. The cockpit was penetrated by metal shards, impacting the pilot in his left arm and torso. He also took hits to the left end of his helmet, with his visor becoming cracked.
“Shit, I’m hit!”

Type and Wizard listened over the radio while climbing up back over the clouds with the rest of the aircraft, getting more and more concerned as 406 seethed in pain. Each aircraft was able to egress successfully, but Sidewinder 406 was trailing smoke and was starting to have engine issues as well.
“Warden, 406…..Took a hit…”
“406, Warden copies.”…
Warden relayed the information back to the controllers onboard CVN-73, who scrambled the Crash Teams for the hit Hornet. Sidewinder 406 was brought to the front of the pattern, and lined up for a trap. Getting the most assistance out of his aircraft systems as he could, he successfully put down the Hornet with a 1-wire while fighting his bleeding and severe pain.
A tug quickly pulled the Hornet out of the landing area, allowing the rest of the aircraft to trap. As the canopy raised, the Crash Team Sailors in their silver firefighting equipment pulled the injured pilot out, who was clutching his bleeding shoulder.

As Type and Wizard trapped and taxied off of the wires, they looked at the empty and damaged Hornet sitting off to the side.
“Man, hope he’s alright…”
“Yeah, too damn close today.”
They parked their Tomcat, and shut down the aircraft.

In the ready room, the CO went over the HUD footage from 110 and 113 for the debrief.
“That’s a mission success, we took out the fort and we have an open path for the port strike in sixteen hours. The only issue is, one of 82’s guys was hit during the strike. Thank God he made it back alive; it would’ve been bad had we lost him out here.”…
With the naval fort down, CVW-1 has a clear opening into the enemy kingdom’s main port for their anti-shipping strike. The injured Hornet pilot serves as a warning for all of them:
This conflict won’t be an easy one.

2024.05.20 04:55 WinterJudgment4037 AITAH/ for getting upset at my bf’s mom?

Me and my bf have been together for a little under a year now. We’re still young but old enough to know better when it comes to certain things well this past month I went to stay with him and his uncle for about two weeks well what’s gonna happen when you throw two people in a room that are together and haven’t seen each other in 4 months? Yeah… well I got back home and I found out I was pregnant. No one is happy though no one is riding my ass and making me stress other than his damn mother. She thinks I’ve completely made everything up to get money because to be honest she thinks I’m not good enough for her baby boy. (Well news flash to her. Her darling baby boy literally put his whole load inside of me and then told me. Who knows maybe we’ll have a kid.) but that’s a different kinda story. So anyway she texted me and was telling me that if I’m not pregnant I need to say something because this is no joke (I’ve taken 5 tests all came back positive) so I end up blocking her because she blew my phone up saying the same stuff. So now I have people telling me I need to unblock her so I did and you know what I met with? A text 3 SCROLLS LONG. again saying “well if you are pregnant you should go to the doctor” yeah no shit I’m trying but no one takes my insurance. So I text my bf and tell him everything and he handed it but now I have people saying I was in the wrong for getting upset at her and saying I should’ve just listened to her.

2024.05.20 02:50 johnk442 Hi, noob freelance support with hacked client: I have questions

Hello, and TIA. I have a home networking question; please do advise and forgive me if I have posted in the wrong subreddit, or posted the wrong question, etc.
* * * *
TL;DR: Client got hacked, bad, and wants a new laptop installed instead of fixing old system.
-> Can I simply install the new system and connect it to the Internet without worrying about the previous hack, since 1) the client left two obvious password files on his computer desktop, and 2) Avast gave a warning of open router ports? His ISP is Spectrum, so I don't have access to open/close any ports individually as far as I know, even from within the My Spectrum app.
-> Would a factory reset of the router work, or even be advisable?
* * * *
I am basically new to computer tech support, and while I have a piece of paper saying I have studied networking, I have never had the opportunity to actually work in the field. So I am being ultra-cautious with a client who got hacked.
I have many years' experience using software and PCs but only 1 1/2 years in actually doing stuff in this new arena. I was a contractor (eww? but I did gain experience) for a year and now am a part-time, bottom-feeding freelancer, helping senior citizens with stuff that's hard for them but that I can do (ISP router and modem setup, printer connection and TS and repair, system research and recommendation, data transfer, OS reset, etc) without negatively impacting them. I happen to live in a retirement mecca, so...
Anyway, I have a client who got hacked, bad, (RAT with accessible password files, multiple-file deletion, etc), and he wants a new laptop - he thinks we can just plug it in and connect it to the internet, and all will be well; he is disconnecting and storing the old laptop and the data thereon rather than face the difficulties of remediation, which would be beyond my current capabilities. I tried referring out to a PC tech company but the client instead wants a new system.
Avast gave a network warning saying there are open ports on the router. Given that the hack was a RAT and that the client literally had two files named "Passwords...[date]" on his desktop, and that the hacker presumably has them, as well as the previous access info for his router, I am concerned that simply hooking up the new laptop will be a disaster, as for one thing, it will be a while before the client can change all the passwords, disconnect logged in accounts, set up 2FA, etc.
His ISP is Spectrum, so I don't know how or if the hacker actually got blocked ports, unblocked. I just checked Spectrum's site and there is an extensive list of the ports Spectrum itself blocks. So, I don't even know if the Avast warning was anything to worry about.
Thanks for all answers, and if I have posted in the wrong subreddit, please advise and forgive.

2024.05.20 01:55 ShampooSocialist Help Routing External Traffic

Hello Kubernetes
I am not very familiar with networking and I need some help getting my local cluster to work the way I want it to
I am running a cluster on a few PCs I have in house that I set up using kubeadm. The pod network add-on I installed was Flannel and I use MetalLB for my load balancing. I would like to expose the control-plane node to the internet and route external network traffic to it and have that traffic routed to the appropriate service based on the subdomain of the url
I run a few game servers for my friends and I to use, so I was thinking about something like
My services are being assigned external IPs, like so
web-app LoadBalancer 10.100.115.248 172.20.0.122 80:30328/TCP 77m 2d23h
I can access these services externally using the control-plane node and its nodeport, and internally within the cluster I can access them via their services external ip and their exposed port, For the web app service: some.url:30328 externally (non-node computers on the local network and from outside-network traffic) and 172.20.0.122:80 respectfully.
I think what I need to be doing is setting up an ingress controller that listens on port 80 and then routes to the correct service based on the subdomain, but I'm not entirely sure how to achieve this. I tried setting up the nginx ingress controller, but it gets assigned an external IP that you can't access from outside the cluster, and you can't assign a node port below 30000. Do I need an ingress controller outside of my cluster? or is there another more elegant solution? If there is anyone that could give me advice on how to configure this it would be much appreciated.

2024.05.20 01:31 __Deric__ Forwarding DNS queries based on listening interface

Hello, I have a small server running rspamd, which requires a custom recursive DNS resolver to work properly with DNS based blacklists.
Setting one up is not a problem, but I want DNS queries from other applications running on the server to be forwarded to upstream DNS servers to better use caching.
Running two separate DNS resolvers would require two separate caches, which is something I would like to avoid. To prevent this I would make the DNS resolver listen on two separate ports and configure rspamd to use the non-standard one.
I looked into using Unbound or BIND9, but they did not support either view based forwarding (Unbound) or selecting a view based on the interface which received the request (BIND9).
Do you know a DNS resolver or setup which would support such a use case?

2024.05.20 00:55 sdjafa Multicast - should the sender join the IGMP group?

When a doing one-way multicast with a single sender and (potentially) multiple recipients, should the sender join the IGMP group it is sending to?
Argument A: the sender isn't listening/receiving incoming packets on the multicast IP so doesn't need to join the group.
Argument B: if there are no members in the group a switch will send the multicast traffic out all switch ports similar to broadcast traffic. By joining the group the sender is telling the switch(es) to only send out ports where IGPM membership has been established.
Thoughts?

2024.05.19 23:54 CptDayDreamer VPN from Azure VM to unRAID site-to-site

Hey there guys. I'm using WireGuard with my router and it works amazing for my access outside of my home. I love it and now also want to use it to have a site-to-site VPN from my server to an Azure VM to monitor my server.

The problem is that I'm not able to achieve it. The setup:
I have an unRAID server with IP [192.168.132.89](https://192.168.132.89/). For that server, I forwarded port 51820/UDP in my router.
Then I have a Ubuntu VM running in Azure with Docker installed. I created a network rule to open port 51820/UDP as well. I got a duckdns address.

In Azure, I run the [linuxserver.io/wireguard](https://linuxserver.io/wireguard) Docker container. Why? I try to always run everything in Docker but if it is so much more complicated for VPN I would also install it on bare metal if that's the problem.

My docker-compose:
--- services: wireguard: image: linuxservewireguard:latest container\_name: wireguard cap\_add: - NET\_ADMIN - SYS\_MODULE #optional environment: - PUID=1000 - PGID=1000 - TZ=Europe/Berlin - SERVERPORT=51820 #optional - SERVERURL=xyz.duckdns.org - PEERS=1 - PEERDNS=auto - INTERNAL\_SUBNET=10.13.13.0 - PERSISTENTKEEPALIVE\_PEERS=25 - LOG\_CONFS=true - ALLOWEDIPS=0.0.0.0/0 volumes: - /media/appdata/wireguard/config:/config - /lib/modules:/lib/modules #optional ports: - 51820:51820/udp sysctls: - net.ipv4.conf.all.src\_valid\_mark=1 restart: unless-stopped networks: - azure networks: azure: external: true

The **wg0.conf** looks like this:

[Interface] Address = 10.13.13.1 ListenPort = 51820 PrivateKey = xxxxxx PostUp = iptables -A FORWARD -i %i -j ACCEPT; iptables -A FORWARD -o %i -j ACCEPT; iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth+ -j MASQUERADE PostDown = iptables -D FORWARD -i %i -j ACCEPT; iptables -D FORWARD -o %i -j ACCEPT; iptables -t nat -D POSTROUTING -o eth+ -j MASQUERADE [Peer] # peer1 PublicKey = xxxxxx PresharedKey = xxxxxx AllowedIPs = 10.13.13.2/32
In unRAID WireGuard is part of the system and you can easily set it up in the frontend but the config looks like this:
[Interface] #unRAID PrivateKey=xxxxxx Address=10.13.13.1 ListenPort=51820 PostUp=logger -t wireguard 'Tunnel WireGuard-wg0 started';/uslocal/emhttp/webGui/scripts/update\_services PostDown=logger -t wireguard 'Tunnel WireGuard-wg0 stopped';/uslocal/emhttp/webGui/scripts/update\_services PostUp=ip -4 route flush table 200 PostUp=ip -4 route add default via 10.13.13.1 dev wg0 table 200 PostUp=ip -4 route add 192.168.178.0/24 via 192.168.178.1 dev br0 table 200 PostDown=ip -4 route flush table 200 PostDown=ip -4 route add unreachable default table 200 PostDown=ip -4 route add 192.168.178.0/24 via 192.168.178.1 dev br0 table 200 [Peer] #Azure PublicKey=xxxxxx AllowedIPs=10.13.13.2/24 PersistentKeepalive=25
And unRAID tells me I should use this config for the peer (Azure):
[Interface] #Azure Address=10.13.13.2/32 [Peer] #unRAID PersistentKeepalive=25 PublicKey=+jKnW8gXR4+O5sNIOQwsIK1VZ9uVzEVhzr+Z+WAqP0c= Endpoint=xyz.duckdns.org:51820 AllowedIPs=10.13.13.1/32, 192.168.132.89/32

I even tried to edit the wg0.conf manually to this but it didn't work. But there is also a note on the docs of [linuxserver.io/wireguard:](https://linuxserver.io/wireguard:)

> Site-to-site VPN in server mode requires customizing the AllowedIPs statement for a specific peer in wg0.conf. Since wg0.conf is autogenerated when server vars are changed, it is not recommended to edit it manually.
I read multiple articles and threads but couldn't achieve the connections as the pings are not possible.
Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

2024.05.19 22:59 Crashoumishou A question about Audio Interface

Hey
So I have a very basic audio interface (U-Phoria UM2) with 1 headphone port, 1 xlr port, 1 rca port and 1 instrument port.
It's plugged to my pc, but I'd like it to also be getting audio from other devices at the same time so I can listen to both through my headphones.
What I've been doing to get it to work is plugging my phone to the instrument port using a 6.35mm to type C cable and using the Direct Monitor button to listen to both.
The only issue is: It generates a lot of static noise.
I intend on upgrading later this year, probably to Focusrite 4i4 4th gen but for now,
do you have any tips or advice on what else I can do to get to the same result of listening to both my pc and phone at the same time through the same headphones?
Thanks

2024.05.19 22:02 The_BotleyCrew On The Wind

Erik listened as Morna’s footsteps gave a backing beat to the rhythmic busywork of the ship. She was pacing, her shoulders hunched, pointedly not looking over Shieldbreaker’s side, averting her eyes from the retreating silhouettes of Lady Alannys and Unwelcome Guest, and the Lute and Harp flotillas in their wake.
No matter what task they busied themselves with, the ship’s crew parted to allow Morna her passage back and forth. She stopped just in front of Erik at the stern, turned on one heel and marched back to Kiera at the bow. She probably felt cramped on the ship. Erik remembered how she had walked the walls of Lordsport on the day Sigorn was injured, her relentless pace only hitching momentarily in front of the maester’s door on each cycle.
Soon she returned to him again, both eyes on the deck, though only one saw it.
“Do you want to sit down?” he asked her as she swivelled, not particularly expecting a response.
“No,” she said, and stopped. It seemed to take some effort to look back at him. “I want to hit something,” she explained. Now that she was still, hands clenched into fists, she stood out amidst the rolling motion of the oarsmen to either side.
“Once we get cruising, we can spar, if that would help?”
Morna hesitated. “I want to break something,” she clarified.
“I don’t think I can help there.”
Morna waved a hand in a way that meant she’d get over it. When she resumed her pacing, Erik followed her to the midpoint of the ship, retrieving his fiddle from the hold. He met both his wives at the bow, and brought the instrument to his chin.
Drawing the bow across the strings, he pushed a few bars of an old and nameless tune, rising notes wishing good fortune across the waves.
Morna relaxed as the answering verses whispered back to them, leaning her scarred forehead against Kiera’s shoulder. After a few moments, she straightened, pushing her hair back from her eyes.
“I’m alright,” she insisted, flexing her hands, “I just hate when I can’t do anything.”
Neither Erik nor Kiera responded. There was no need. They understood.
Three days after the fleets separated, the winds turned on them. The tips of dark clouds on the horizon spoke of a storm that Shieldbreaker and the Fiddle flotilla were only feeling the echoes of, but it was a complete headwind all the same. Everyone aboard knew what it meant, but they groaned all the same when the nausea, the strain, the third thing began.
Erik kept his focus on the fervent activity on the deck, oarsmen keeping balance, two-men teams on the spar lines, Erik’s own hands on the rudder. Hours into the nauseating back-and forth, he found his focus drifting. He called Osfryd over to take the rudder for the upcoming portside turn.
Kiera had abandoned her perch on the bow that morning, and spent the whole day with her back against the mast, rubbing her forehead, eyes closing every time the creaking sail beam swivelled over her head.
He went to the canopy at the mast, and gently pressed a kiss to Kiera’s forehead. She looked up at him, smiling apologetically.
“The creaking makes my head ache,” she said, by way of an explanation. Erik just leaned on the mast beside her, and held her hand down by his side. They watched their other wife for a time. Morna was at the windward side of the ship as it turned, helping some of the crew scrape clinging seaweed from the hull, exposed from the waterline by Shieldbreaker’s dramatic tilt.
“She’s going to heave if she keeps going like that,” Kiera commented. Erik murmured an agreement, watching the seasick stagger that was starting to come into Morna’s movements.
“You know what she’s like,” Erik said. “You and Asha grew up sailing, she thinks she has to prove herself.”
Kiera scoffed, though there was a smile hidden in her offended scowl. “Asha barely sailed.”
Erik conceded that with a shrug. “She’s Ironborn, though.”
Kiera nodded, then squeezed her eyes shut as the ship began tilting to port, the spar over their head groaning as it scraped against the mast. She had always been Erik’s softest wife. Even as the shipborne bastard of a Tyroshi merchant, her youth had been filled with more comforts than a wildling huntress or daughter of a tiny Ironborn house were ever afforded.
The deck shifted beneath them, and the hull-scrapers abandoned their posts to move to the other side. Morna passed through the cabin, teeth bared even more than her scars usually made them as she tried to breathe through the nausea.
“Fuck this,” she said conversationally, and accepted Kiera’s kiss to her scarred cheek.
“You don’t need to work yourself to the point of illness, darling,” Erik said, but she shrugged the comment off like he knew she would.
“You can help any time,” she pointed out, not unfairly.
“I’ll be over in a moment.”
Kiera shook her head. “Iemnȳ ēdrulio glaesas, dōnītsosi. I read charts and look pretty. You strong people can do the actual work.”
The storm’s wake had passed by the next day, and Erik allowed his exhausted crew a morning’s rest. The bed of sand and the cookfire were back out on the stern, Theomore frying fillets he had cut from the fish other men had pulled from the sea in the days before.
As lord and captain, Erik had the benefit of first serving, sitting with his wives under the canopy at the ship’s centre, a well-done piece of cod speared on the knife that had avenged his father.
“You’re still a kneeler, as much as the rest of them,” Morna was saying, waving a fishbone insistently. Kiera’s lips twitched into a smile at the familiar argument.
“Look, the Archon is chosen-”
“By the people with gold,” Morna interrupted.
“Yes, but you told me the Kings-Beyond-The-Wall were chosen by clan chiefs-”
“That’s not the same.”
“I’m still not sure I’m a kneeler,” Erik interjected, smiling at how Morna's face twisted into mock outrage.
Lord Botley, I do love you, but you’re the most kneelerish person I can put up with. We’d be up raiding Bear Island, or whatsitcalled, the lion city, Lannister-port or something, if you weren’t a kneeler.”
“Those people never did anything to us,” Erik tried.
Morna pointed, catching the error. “And what did this Volantis do to us?”
“Enslaved my mother,” Kiera pointed out. Morna eyed her, making sure her wife was still in the mood for play, before she pressed on.
“Fine, what did we do, then? Why raid the Frozen Shore?”
“Well you did-” Erik caught himself before he said “raid the North.” Morna eyed him, teasing curiosity raising her mismatched eyebrows.
“You got me,” he smiled, taking another bite of cod. “I only go raiding where I can find beautiful women.”
Morna grinned at the flattery and opened her mouth to respond, but was cut off by Kiera tutting in mock-outrage.
“I’m sorry, dōnītsos, but why are we stopping peacefully in Tyrosh, in that case?”
“I’ve met your father,” Erik reasoned. “Your looks come from your mother’s homeland.”
That broke the momentum of the debate as Morna barked a laugh and Kiera tried to hold one in, pinching the bridge of her nose. Erik chuckled, and managed not to flinch when the sailor called for him.
“Milord!”
Erik turned. Osfryd, leaning against the prow, hair flickering in the wind, pointed over his shoulder to the horizon before them all.
“Ship rising!” he called, by way of explanation.
Kiera was on her feet first, stepping lightly between the myriad of chatting crewmembers that Erik was surprised to see surrounding him and his wives. She reached the bow and climbed it deftly, hooking a foot in the lantern-ring as she often did. Erik and Morna followed more slowly.
“Merchant, by the shape,” Kiera said as they approached. Erik followed her gaze to the tall, barrel-hulled carrack coming over the horizon, half-silhouetted by the low morning sun. He could just make out a pennant fluttering at the tip of the tallest mast.
“Can you make out the flag?” Erik asked.
Kiera took a moment before answering, “Myrish, I think. They’re keeping dead on. You’d think they’d try to get around us, no?”
“Quicker to go through, I suppose,” Erik suggested. “Plus, they’re likely unsure how wide a fleet we have, or if we even want to attack.”
“Do we want to attack?” Morna asked.
The question drew the attention of several crewmembers, who quickly turned to listen to Erik’s answer.
Playing for time, Erik looked out at the ship again. The thought of battle made his blood tingle, but he was wary. Shallow-drafted longships like theirs were ideal for a shoreline assault, but much less suited for warfare at sea. There was a reason that the Royal Fleet consisted of dromonds and other tall ships. Attack even one Myrish trader and dozens would sink to the Drowned God’s halls. Pointless, unless there was some real reason to take that risk.
“Slavers?” Erik asked.
Kiera shook her head. “They’re heading to Dorne or the Stormlands, they know they can’t sell them there.”
“Then no.” Some men around him looked disappointed, others relieved. Erik reckoned he could guess how long each man had been sailing by that reaction.
“We’ll save our strength for a greater bounty, further East,” Erik said, his voice shifting to a commanding baritone. “To oars, men! Give them space to pass! I’ll not have them loose arrows on us for some misunderstanding.”
The knot of listeners loosened and fell away, dipping oars to water and pushing Shieldbreaker further out of the Myrish vessel’s path. The ship loomed as it came closer, and Erik saw men with crossbows take positions on the upper gunwale. A blue-haired, green-bearded man, the captain by his stance, stood at the prow and looked out at the passing fleet with suspicious eyes.
Kiera cupped her hands around her mouth and called, her voice clear and carrying as a flute, “Jemī ōdrikagon indī daor!
We mean you no harm. It was one of the few phrases Kiera had insisted Erik learn. It got the captain’s attention, his eyes flicking across the ship until he found the speaker.
Jaehor ojehiknon irughas!” he responded, his stance softening. The crossbowmen followed his lead. Not all of them lowered their weapons, but enough did that Erik relaxed. The captain followed with a sentence that included skoriot – where? Asking where they were from.
Erik saw Kiera give her best smile, and she gestured to the fish-covered green pennant on Shieldbreaker’s mast. “Āegenka Āja. Mȳro iksāt, kessa?
The captain seemed to hesitate a little at her response, though Erik would have assumed that their hailing from the Iron Islands – for he recognised Āegenka Āja – was obvious from their ships. Their vessels were almost level now, and Erik could now read the curiosity in the man’s smile. He finally called, “Hen mirto Āegenka Ājor, Valyrīhos sȳrī ȳdrā!
Kiera’s smile faltered at that, but seemed to renew with some quiet pride. “Īlōnda quptyri issa daor!”
The captain barked a laugh, and the reaction was echoed by a few chuckles among the crossbowmen. Erik couldn’t understand the joke, but laughed along anyway. Kiera leaned over to her husband.
“They are from Myr,” she confirmed. “I don’t think they’re interested in a fight.”
“Good,” Erik said. “Ask where they’re going.”
Kiera returned her attention to the passing ship. “Skoriot īlāt?” she called.
The captain pointed westward, presumably indicating his destination.
Jelmāzmari Mōrio!
Erik recognized the name of Storm’s End, but the rest of the man’s sentence was lost in a flurry of unfamiliar syllables. The captain rubbed thumb and forefinger together, so he gathered that he was speaking of trade with the Stormlanders.
The ship was passing them now, Shieldbreaker swaying as it was buffeted in its wake.
Biarver aōt!” Kiera called. The man’s response was lost in the wind, but his smile told Erik that it had been some kind farewell. He watched the retreating galley with contentment. It was always good to meet a kindred spirit on the high seas.
The cawing of seagulls was the first sign they were approaching land. Always a light sleeper, Erik’s eyes shot open at the sound. Morna’s arm was still draped over his chest, her eyes closed and shallow breaths peaceful with sleep. Erik was careful as he wriggled out from beneath her, stood and stepped over her and Kiera, who had her face pressed into the nape of Morna’s neck.
Most of the rest of the crew were asleep as well, wrapped in thin blankets between the rowing benches. Three men were talking quietly to one another in the shadows to starboard, while six others played cards in the light of the new bow lantern. Back at the stern, Erik found Mathos posted at the rudder.
“Milord,” Mathos said, by way of greeting. He kept his voice low, and Erik followed suit.
“Mathos. No trouble in the night?”
“None, milord. Wind was steady, we’re dead on for the Bloodstone strait. Mind you, those smoke trails have me wondering, milord.”
Erik’s eyebrows asked his question for him, and Mathos just pointed past him, out towards the bow and the sea and the deep, dark shape of the island on the horizon, blocking the spill of starlight beyond it. Then, as his eyes adjusted to the sight, he saw them – thin, curling lines of smoke rising over the island. Five of them, tightly packed together, shining silver in the light.
Erik shrugged. They disquieted him, as well, but he voiced the most obvious objection to his worry all the same. “Bloodstone isn’t entirely uninhabited. It’s probably just a fishing village.”
Mathos gave a sort of half shrug. He obviously didn’t want to contradict his captain, but he pressed on anyway.
“Perhaps, milord, but who’s staying up to tend the fires this late? Sunrise is barely an hour away, by my reckoning. I can’t think of many reasons folk’d’ve fires kept so late.”
“Watchtowers?”
“It’s just a guess milord, but aye. What’re they keeping watch for, I wonder?”
Erik kept his eyes on the smoke, though his attention was focused inward. There was some fear there, and a hesitant surprise. Excitement boiled in his chest, but it had a core that Erik took a moment to identify. Satisfaction. Here was proof that he would not return to Lordsport unsated, that he would find more of what he sought most, as he had found first in Starfall.
The unexpected.

2024.05.19 21:37 Possibility-Capable Inconsistent State Synchronization with Custom useLocalStorage Hook in React

I'm encountering an issue with state synchronization in a React application using a custom useLocalStorage hook. The App component correctly logs changes to the counter state, while another hook trying to access the same state doesn't log these changes, even though the state is supposed to be shared via local storage.
Here's the code:
import { useState, useEffect } from "react"; const useLocalStorage = (key, initialValue) => { const [storedValue, setStoredValue] = useState(() => { try { const item = localStorage.getItem(key); return item ? JSON.parse(item) : initialValue; } catch (error) { console.error("Failed to read from localStorage", error); return initialValue; } }); const setValue = (value) => { try { const valueToStore = value instanceof Function ? value(storedValue) : value; setStoredValue(valueToStore); localStorage.setItem(key, JSON.stringify(valueToStore)); } catch (error) { console.error("Failed to write to localStorage", error); } }; useEffect(() => { const handleStorageChange = (event) => { if (event.key === key && event.newValue) { setStoredValue(JSON.parse(event.newValue)); } }; window.addEventListener("storage", handleStorageChange); return () => window.removeEventListener("storage", handleStorageChange); }, [key]); return [storedValue, setValue]; }; const useCounter = () => { const [counter, setCounter] = useLocalStorage("counter", 0); const incrementCounter = () => setCounter((prev) => (prev += 1)); return { counter, incrementCounter }; }; const useInput = () => { const [input, setInput] = useState(""); const { counter } = useCounter(); useEffect(() => { console.log("useEffect in useInput"); // this does not run as I type }, [counter]); return { input, setInput }; }; export default function App() { const { input, setInput } = useInput(); const { counter, incrementCounter } = useCounter(); useEffect(() => { console.log("useEffect in App"); // this runs as I type }, [counter]); const handleInput = (value) => { incrementCounter(); setInput(value); }; return  handleInput(e.target.value)} value={input} />; }
Here's a code sandbox: Codesandbox
The App component correctly logs changes to the counter state, but the useEffect inside the useInput hook does not log these changes. I expected both useEffect hooks to be triggered when counter is incremented. Why is this happening, and how can I ensure the state is consistently shared and updated across components?

We both have BPD traits, I’m more quiet and she’s very expressive till it comes to talking about deeper stuff. I almost unblocked her and wanted to ask her to come back. But then I remembered. It was like everyday she had something going on (and i did too really) but she’d get mad at me for giving advice, i’d try to learn to listen and validate but she’d do the same things again - if i got angry i was part of the problem. And I felt so much shame being with her.
I felt like my mum prioritising how she feels over me about how I feel about myself. And my fucking dysregulation, it’s like a bottle filled with steam till the top blows off and then I’m no longer justified in how I feel because I had to make her deal with my emotions. This is why I don’t let anyone take “responsibility” unless they show they can take it. I’m tired of being a burden when if you didn’t want me why stay with me.
I cried to my friend talking about how it feels like the only type of people I will date are people like my mum, offering to never leave but changing inside is like an offence to bring up. I hate people like her. I’m trying to be more mature but it seems like it’s so obvious to others that I lack so much, I don’t want to ruin someone.
It’s like my reactions are always bad but never why I felt like this. For example, near the end we were on and off heavily (since i wanted to leave and at least minimise contact since we both couldn’t leave but she’d reach out, but once again my fault for not blocking and everything i guess my bpd doesn’t exist)
For example, I hide her from my instagram stories genuinely because of how it would make her feel “left out”. I was open to her that when I’m stressing I freeze and turn to numbing myself to cope whether it be watching videos or just shit posting whatever I see on instagram, and our arguments where she could go silent (but when she wants my attention I have to be there). And she’d take it like I don’t care even though I told her when she literally says nothing it’s my only way to cope. But she was upset with me saying she felt ignored. I told her why and I wasn’t backing down because it’d just happen again and again.
I genuinely hate myself, I see all my flaws as angry as I have now made myself feel from typing I’ll never give myself that validation to stand up for myself in fear that I’m being narcissistic. Because as I’ve grown up people like her are just emotional it’s just their pain, but for me it’s uncaring whether I say it or not. I hate her I’m really mad now.
I hate the lack of accountability, I hate that she tried to make it like I wasn’t available when every attempt that I did she’d shut down fuck her immensely. The worse part is I have issues from trauma issues where I needed someone and she helped me. Forgive the mommy issues, but it’s like getting help from someone who hurts you. And believing that things will change and staying only puts it on you.
And I’m scared to post this I’m scared if she’ll see this I’m tired of it seeming like what I’m doing it out of maliciousness when i’m just trying to fucking live. I neglected uni, my hobbies everything and to her it’s like I gave nothing at all. I don’t regret meeting her as it was a lesson I needed and the pain of her gone is pushing me to be more proactive with therapy.

2024.05.19 21:15 DeltaFoxAlpha Unable to access LAN behind Windows peer from remote Android peer

Hey all, been trying the entire weekend to get Wireguard to work the way I want to no avail. I want my phone to be able to see my home LAN, the Android phone will see and connect to the Windows peer and can access its services; but can't reach the rest of the local LAN.
I've tried tons of different "AllowedIps", tried changing MTU sizes, tried changing DNS, tried different IPs, netranges.
I want my Windows peer to give the Android peer access to 192.168.1.x LAN.
Windows peer:
[Interface] PrivateKey = 0EHx (PublicKey = FQSx) ListenPort = 51820 Address = 10.20.10.1/24 [Peer] PublicKey = 5tTx AllowedIPs = 10.20.10.0/24
Android peer:
[Interface] PrivateKey = IOJx (PubKey = 5tTx) Address = 10.20.10.2/24 [Peer] PublicKey = FQSx EndPoint = EXTERNAL/WAN-IP:51820 AllowedIPs = 10.20.10.0/24, 192.168.1.0/24
I have this Ping app installed on my Android phone which comes with a Traceroute button. When I press that on the 192.168.1.175 address, sometimes it shows 1 hop to 10.20.10.1, but that's it.
For as far I can tell Windows has forwarding enabled:

2024.05.19 20:37 Data_Assister_Sen Recommended fairly new courses for kafka with docker?

Hi guys! I can't seem to wrap my head around running kafka wih docker.
This is as far as I got:
services: kafka: image: apache/kafka:latest container_name: kafka ports: - "9092:9092" volumes: - kafka-data:/valib/kafka/data environment: KAFKA_NODE_ID: 2 KAFKA_ADVERTISED_LISTENERS: "PLAINTEXT://kafka:9092" KAFKA_KRAFT_MODE: "true" # BOOTSTRAP_SERVERS: "kafka:9092" # KAFKASTORE_BOOTSTRAP_SERVERS: "kafka:9092" restart: on-failure kafka-2: image: apache/kafka:latest container_name: kafka-2 ports: - "9093:9092" volumes: - kafka-data:/valib/kafka/data environment: KAFKA_NODE_ID: 1 KAFKA_ADVERTISED_LISTENERS: "PLAINTEXT://kafka-2:9092" KAFKA_KRAFT_MODE: "true" # BOOTSTRAP_SERVERS: "kafka:9092" # KAFKASTORE_BOOTSTRAP_SERVERS: "kafka:9092" restart: on-failure
Do you know any courses/materials that can better help me understand what I'm doing wrong/how to think when working with kafka? Specifically, I believe that KRaft mode is the future for this app but I can't seem to find any documentation for it, relating to docker or examples of docker-compose.yamls out there - so if the courses would cover it too, that would be perfect!

Hello,
2 days ago my machine started to have resume issues when opening the lid. I have it set to suspend when the lid is closed. The only way to get it to wake is to plug in the AC power. No amount of pressing buttons or the power button will wake it. I can't even hold the power button to kill the whole system. Here is the dmesg output from when it just happened.

I am not the skilled at reading the output. I put it into chatGPT and it pointed to issues with the ACPI, something about the USB-C port, thermal zone failure, the nic card being down, and mmc issues (I use a microSD card for additional storage). Would anyone here have any insight or troubleshooting steps I could take to try and narrow down the issue and potentially solve the issue? Don't be afraid to suggest anything complicated as I am willing to learn. I have noticed a potential issues with a usb type A mouse I use being related but as I said it is an intermittent issue so I can't be sure.
Any insight is appreciated. Thanks
